Japan s Economic History in the Last Forty Years Essay
In the 1970s Japan had one of the world s most admired economies. Economists believed it would
achieve the highest living standards and continue to develop the best technologies. At that time, Japan
boosted he world s second largest gross national product and eventually reached number one by the
late 1980s However, everything changed in the early 1990s, and Japan entered what has been
described as its first lost decade (Kuepper, n.d.). Economists and historians have studied the causes for
Japan s stagnation over the past twenty years, but there are significantly different opinions regarding
the issue. Most agree that the huge asset bubble was the cause for the initial stagnation, but they
disagree as to the reasons for why this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This led to poor supervision and allowed bad debts to continue in the financial system (Posen, 1998).
The lack of effective leadership led to serious policy mismanagements and aggravated the problem. In
1997, the government issued a 2% consumption tax increase and the government also contracted
spending on government projects. People became even more insecure and started saving more outside
the private banking system (Posen, 1998). In this case, a government policy made the crisis even
worse.
Another example of policy mismanagement is he dependence on interest rate cuts from 1985 to 1987.
The government did this to try to counter the deflationary impact of the yen appreciation relative to
the dollar after the Plaza Accord The yen appreciation has become an enduring problem because it has
restricted the success of certain policy gears that could have solved the economic problems (Okimoto,
2004).
The second reason to account for the continuing stagnation is the lack of enough investments due to
Japan s age. As industrialized countries age, it becomes more difficult for them to create enough
investment to boost their economy. Private and government fixed investment have experienced a
growth slower than the GDP from 1991 2003, which registered 0.24% and 0.59% respectively, at the
start and finish of this period. Taking a closer look at private investment, private housing experienced
a sharp 2.48% decline. Government and private

Head Injury Research Paper
There are many people who don t think sports are just a hobby, but something that intrigues people,
and love doing it. There are many risks that may come with playing this specific sport. There have
been many head injuries that have occurred because of head to head contact, along with other injuries
than have lead people to death. Maybe only people who are properly prepared should able to play this
dangerous sport.
Every sport no matter what it is will always give you a good exercise, which is a good thing for people

The Rise of the Norman Empire
Hold the wall! shouted King Harold II as the Normans began to work their way past the Anglo Saxon
shield wall. The Anglo Saxon empire reigned over London for its fair share of time before William the
Duke of Normandy decided to take it from them. William was the son of Robert I and his wife was
Matilda of Flanders. William was of Viking origin and he spoke French. King Harold II was ruler of
London after King Harold I died. King Harold II was the last Anglo Saxon King of England. In the
year 1066 a great battle took place that would change the way London lived forever. This battle was
called The Battle of Hastings.
The battle of Hastings was a very interesting battle, the outcome was not as expected. The Anglo
Saxon people had a very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Battle itself was fought over the only road that connected Hastings to London and the victor of
the battle would own that road. The coastline of Sussex was nearer than it was today and caused the
major road that crossed through Hastings and London a major trade route. King Harold needed this
road for sustaining his campaign and William wanted control of the only proper road to the Heart of
England. The battle was not actually fought in the town of Hastings but rather fought roughly seven
miles away from the town. The reason they called the Battle, the Battle of Hastings was because back
in the middle ages era battle was important. The people of 1066 agreed that battle was wealthy. The
title Battle of Battle simply did not work so they named it to the nearest large city, which was
Hastings. (historylearningsite).
An important part of the battle itself was what the information was gathered from. Most things known
about the Battle of Hastings was collected from the Bayeux Tapestry. The Bayeux Tapestry was not
exactly a tapestry though its name says differently, but instead it is an embroidered linen cloth that is
about 70 meters long. The Bayeux Tapestry depicts the events leading up to the Battle of Hastings,
during the battle itself, and the events thereafter starting with a scene depicting Edward the Confessor
sending Harold to Normandy and ends with the English troops fleeing the battlefield at

Theme Of Isolation In The Asylum
In various works of literature, characters that are isolated serve to convey various meanings and
illustrate various arguments. Throughout the novel The Asylum, the author John Harwood places
characters in contexts of isolation to demonstrate a change in their thoughts, actions, and emotions.
The contextual isolation of Georgina Ferrars and Rosina Wentworth exemplify the ways that their
notions change and their feelings build with exposure to isolation. When both protagonists experience
forms of isolation, they contemplate and re evaluate their actions and decisions, which in turn lends
themselves to a change in their various perceptions and emotions.
Georgina Ferrars finds herself in isolated contexts throughout the novel, developing her thoughts and
emotions. Firstly, during the course of time she spends at the Tregannon House, Georgina builds a
strong relationship with Frederic Mordaunt, the doctor s secretary. When Mr. Mordaunt leaves the
asylum at once and returns one day, Georgina can t handle the hate she built for him over those
months. Once Mordaunt leaves the conversation, Georgina remained on the bench, shaking with
emotion and realising, as [her] anger subsided, how foolishly [she] had behaved (Harwood, 98). As
Georgina is exposed to this important moment of isolation, she registers that Frederic has inner
feelings for her, and brings back their relationship. After being left alone for a few moments, Georgina
contemplates her actions and immediately regrets

Questions On Divorce Mediation Process
In this response, I will overview divorce mediation, sessions, agreements, issues, plans, budgeting,
child support, spousal support, and some financial issues all in one paragraph. The article itself discuss
more in depth than I would go over. I would like to briefly discuss the importance that stood out to me
in these following topics listed above. However, all of these topics are very important but however, I
can t possible explain in depth all topics. In these next few paragraphs, I will provide a brief summary
of the article s contents, information from the chapters in the class text that s pertinent to the article s
nature and a closing paragraph.
A Step byStep Approach to the Divorce Mediation Process: From Soup to Nuts by Anju D. Jessani,
discuss what divorce mediation is, how schedule the first session, multiple agreements, issues, child
support, spousal support and more. According to Jessani, divorce mediation is when a mediator helps
the separating couple address the parenting issues and custody, the different distributions of assets,
liabilities, child/spousal support, insurance, income tax, and other decisions that will help restructure
the family into two units. It s typically for both of the spouses to meet three to six sessions of 90
minutes with their mediator for nine weeks. The mediator plays a big role in helping the couple
explore their options as well as their consequence. Most importantly, bring them knowledge and

General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade
A. GATT Article III has been nullified and impaired. The WTO resolution panel will use the Japan
Taxes on Alcoholic Beverages case s like products test and the tariff classification test to establish the
presence of nullification and impairment. The MF and Dabi are Members of the WTO and they both
must abide by the WTO Agreement. This Agreement gives WTO Members benefits in return for their
commitment to the Agreement. The MF is not complying with GATT Article III, Section 1 in that the
MF is protecting their domestic beef products by regulating the importation of Dabi s beef products
without enough scientific evidence to support the negative effects of Xamil. Imported beef products
must be treated the same as domestic beef products. Dabi s and the MF s beef products are like
products due to identical end users and the beef s properties. Until more compelling scientific studies
are conducted to prove that Dabi s and the MF s beef products are not like products, the MF s
regulation of Dabi s beef products is inconsistent with Article III. In order to conduct the tariff
classification test, the WTO s Harmonized Tariff Schedule system must be used. B. GATT Article XX
(b) may be used by the MF to argue against Dabi s claims. The WTO resolution panel will use the
Thailand Restrictions on Importation of Cigarettes case to test whether the ban on Dabi beef products
is necessary to protect human health. The case shows that the MF will not be successful in invoking

Tobacco Products Cause And Effects
Introduction
Tobacco products, specifically cigarettes, are products that usually cause a slow, painful death. If death
is not eventually caused as a direct result of tobacco products, they can still result in various other
debilitating illnesses. It is not only health that the use of tobacco products causes to decline, but also
the monetary security of the individual indulging in these items. Whether it is money or health,
tobacco products cause severe degradation in both categories. Cigarettes and other items such as snuff
can be both directly and indirectly linked to many thousand cases of death and illness each year in the
United States. There is no benefit to be gained from use of these harmful reagents, and for that reason
a debilitating excise tax should be placed on tobacco products.
Addiction
All forms of tobacco, such as snuff, cigars, cigarettes, and chewing tobacco, contain the drug nicotine,
which accounts for the addictive nature of these products. Nicotine is absorbed into the bloodstream
when it is introduced to the body, this principle applies whether the tobacco is inhaled, smoked, or
chewed. When nicotine enters the bloodstream, it instantaneously begins to stimulate the adrenal
glands, otherwise known as the glands that produce adrenaline within the human body. This
adrenaline, also known as the hormone epinephrine, prompts the central nervous system of the
individual to increase things such as blood pressure, respiration, and heart rate (DrugFacts:

Theme Of Masculinity In Macbeth
In the play Macbeth written by William Shakespeare, several characters become very selfish and their
behaviors end up destroying their loyalty to their own country, friends, and family. The unity needed
between a king and his colleagues is very important to ones country for not only the present but also
far in the future. Typically if the king has a son for a child than he shall be king after the father dies,
but there are several characters that believe that they should be king or that their families should be
higher up in society. The country of Scotland needs a new king who is well rounded in the traits of

A true man has the ideals of strength, courage, and love while in the play Shakespeare makes it very
clear that the main focuses of a man are strength, power, the force of will, and physical courage.
Intelligence and morals are not very much touched upon or associated with a true man in Macbeth. All
the character at one point or another question each others manhood or masculinity. However it seems
that Lady Macbeth is the most masculine of them all. She uses her husband several times; aware that
he will perform the actions that she wishes upon. The suspicion that manhood is bias to violence is a
strong recurring theme. Lady Macbeth even states that she wishes to be a man in order to perform her
husbands requests sent upon her. Come, you spirits / That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, /
And fill me from the crown to the toe top full / Of direst cruelty. (I,v, 30 33) She can not believe that
her husband is being so scared to perform such a simple act in her eyes. She has came up with the plan
on how to perform this killing of Duncan but all she needs is her husband Macbeth to man up and

The Han-Chinese Conflict
There are many conflicts that exist around the world today. One of these conflicts includes the conflict
between the Uighurs and Han Chinese. This conflict has been occurring within the Xinjiang region for
many years now. The Xinjiang region is located within China in the upper west side of the state. In
1775 the Qing dynasty had a region of various Turkic, Mongol, and Chinese groups under control. The
Xinjiang Province became the first establishment of the Chinese Imperial in 1884. After the fall of the
Qing Dynasty in 1912 the Xinjiang province was ruled by the Uighur group known as the East
Turkestan Islamic Group. The Uighurs is a Muslim and ethnically Turkic population that regard
themselves as culturally and ethnically close to Central Asian nations. East Turkestan lies in the heart
of Asia and is the homeland of the Turkic speaking Uighurs and central Asia people such as Kazaks,

80s Research Paper
Hey guys, Sophie Jeffrey here for Channel [V]. Welcome back to another segment of Songs of My
Generation . This week we ll take a look back at the totally tubular 80s. The 80s was full of many
things: Rubik s Cubes, Wrestling, Pac Man, Lip Smackers, Nintendo, skateboarding, roller skating,
Horror films, the BratPack, connect four, Tupperware parties, pop rocks, Weird Al Yankovic, who s
currently making a comeback FYI... and the list goes on! Horror films made their way onto the scene
in the 80s with thousands flocking to movie theatres to see the latest scary flick. The 80 s are to thank
for some of the popular fashion trends we still see today: RayBans, Doc Martens, bright colours and
denim jackets, but while some of the fashion trends found in the 80s soared, others, like leg warmers,
spandex, shoulder pads, parachute pants, mullets, perms, sweaters around the waist, big hair bows, all
definitely proved that with the good always comes the bad. This was a decade full of new and
advancing technology: out with the old and in with the new! The 80s said goodbye to cassette tapes
and boom boxes and hello to compact discs and Sony Walkman s, taking the first step in redefining
the music industry. Ladies and Gentlemen, Rock and Roll, these were the first words uttered on what
was to become one of the most iconic and popular TV channels, MTV. It would continue to dominate
for the next 33 years following its launch on August 1st 1981. MTV changed the way people viewed

Are organized activities or creative play more important to a child s development? Some people would
argue that creative play is a very important thing to include in a child s day. Others say that creative
play is not critical to a child s development but organized activities are. Many people believe that
creative play is no longer as essential as it was once believed to be and that organized activities
actaully provide more benefits. They say that since being involved in an organized activity requires
commitment, teamwork, and hard work it can help children become responsible adults. They also
beleive that organized activities help parents become more involved in their children s lives. I believe

The role of women in The Epic of Gilgamesh
The role of women is a very important topic in The Epic of Gilgamesh, and various women are chosen
to represent various aspects of the mesopotamian conception of women.
In the ancient times males were inessential to the preservation of life. The Epic of Gilgamesh shows
how the inability of males to give birth causes a sense of despair and alienation. While the
representation of women might seem confusing at first with its wide range of traits, the epic tries to
demonstrate all aspects of women, some are dominant in some ways. They are valuable advisors, and
have variable attitudes regarding sexuality, they control men s decision in some ways and bring both
death and immortality in men s lives. In this paper the female characters of ... Show more content on

Article Review of A Livelihoods Analysis of the Water...
The source that I have chosen to discuss is A livelihoods analysis of the water taxi operators in the
Grenadines , by A. Cooke, R. Mahon and P. McConney. The article appeared in CERMES Technical
Report No. 9, and was published in 2007. The following is an excerpt from this source: ORIGINAL
SOURCE: The major daily operating costs relate to the gasoline and oil consumed for the water taxi
operation. The cost of preparing food for customers when requested is incurred by some operators.
Few operators could give an accurate account of how much they spend. Many could however estimate
the cost of gasoline and oil for daily operation and in some cases for a trip to the Tobago Cays
(Appendix 6). According to one operator from Carriacou, his boat which is 6.5 m long uses up to 75
litres of gas per day costing up to US$60.00 along with the four bottles of oil which cost
US$5.00/bottle Many operators do not have insurance for their boats: liability or boat loss. This is due
to the difficulty in getting insurance for wooden boats. Two operators do however have their boats
insured. One is among the largest boats which has passed the inspections of the Grenada Port
Authority. The premium is US $5000.00 each year. In addition he is required to pay XCD$275.00 in
tax each year on his operation. These costs along with the other operation, maintenance and repair
costs are proving to be burdensome given the low recent tourist arrivals in Carriacou. This paragraph

The Birg Test
David A. Hernandez II CMPS 3560 2/04/2017 Homework 2 1.1 Define Intelligence. What is the
intelligent behavior of a machine? Intelligence is defined as the ability to acquire, understand, and
apply knowledge and skills. It is also defined as having the ability to think and understand knowledge
instead of performing actions that are based on instinct. The intelligent behavior of a machine is
characterized as having the ability to achieve and perform the cognitive abilities and tasks similar to
that of a human. 1.2 Describe the Turing test for artificial intelligence and justify its validity from a
modern standpoint. The Turing test was an experiment that evaluated a machine s ability to display
human like intelligent behavior and consisted of two phases. In the first, an interrogator and two other
individuals were placed in separate rooms and were only able to communicate with each other through
the use of remote terminals. The interrogator would then determine which individual was male or

Abusive Domestic Relationship Defence
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics half of the female victims of domestic violence
experience more than one incident of abuse (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2013). In Queensland
using spousal abuse as a defence to murder can be problematic for female defendants who kill their
abusers. Jurors in most cases relating to spousal abuse tend to find the act of pre emptive killing in self
defence not justifiable. Queensland s Criminal Code should be amended to allow the Abusive
Domestic Relationship Defence to be used as a full defence. This can be proven as victims of violence
tend to lack the ability to make logical decisions; individuals feel a case of entrapment and the victim
signals violence and acts before the onset of abuse. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Syndrome ; a theory which is used to invoke why women kill their abusive partners their (women)

would leave an abusive relationship rather than kill for self preservation, whilst the syndrome would
influence the victim to kill. In the case R v. Runjanjic and Kontinnen (1991) the loss of this ability is
clear as the defendant s lawyer claimed , Though she doesn t consciously remember her decision

The fact that Kontinnen cannot remember what caused her to make the decision to kill the deceased

Narrative Voice Of The Yellow Wallpaper By Charlotte...
Charlotte Perkins Gilman aptly used narrative voice to shape the meaning of The Yellow Wallpaper,
by writing a first person narrative about a woman who slowly loses herself to madness. This voice is
one of a woman who may possibly have post partum depression or some other form of manic
depression, and her unheard cries for help. She slowly draws within herself, and allows the insanity to
take over. Within the first few paragraphs we learn general characteristics about the narrator: she is
middle class, as indicated by the phrase mere ordinary people (354); we also learn that she is married,
suggested a statement about John laughing at her, something she says is only expected in marriage.
Though we are never given her name, these generic aspects just might be more important to the
progression of the story than her actual identity or personal history.
No longer distracted by trying to find clues in her past that may take away from the plot, we are able
to focus on the slow degeneration of a woman s mind through a journal she keeps. Narrative voice
continues to morph throughout the tale, and her level of sanity is directly related to her level of
reliability. The story continues through eleven different entries, each showcasing a deeper phase of
madness. Every time she returns to write again, her mental condition worsens, as well as her
reliability. By the final entry, we see she is somehow managing to journal while she has a full mental
breakdown something that would not

Examples Of Determinism In Arrival
Determinism and Free Will in Arrival
If you could see your whole life from start to finish, would you change things? This is one of the
heaviest hitting questions in the movie Arrival and it serves as the philosophical launching point for
my discussion here. This question comes from the main character Louise directed at her future
husband. As the movie progresses, we as viewers learn that the main character Louise has been given
the ability to see into the future. Part of these visions include the death of her future daughter to a rare
disease at a young age. Yet, even though she can see these events of the future and even though she
knows of the pain and suffering they will bring, she still chooses to follow the same course of her life
because she recognizes some type of greater purpose. It is through the actions and decisions of Louise
that this movie explicitly explores the notion of whether knowledge of future events would affect or
negate our concept of free will as human beings. Like Ted Chiang s short story entitled The Story of
You Life that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rowlands discusses this in Chapter 9 of his book and he argues that this concept allows us to
understand what it means to be a human being and how we are to achieve authenticity in our lives.
Namely, this type of thinking causes us to live in the light of our death. To do so, we require a
different understanding of time, one that transcends our standard linear notions of a past, present, and
future. By having a being towards death understanding, we begin to see everything in relation to the
now. This understanding applies directly to our understanding of our mortality. As finite beings, this
mindset makes us confront our finite nature and creates a sense of meaning through the reality of
death. It is through this realization that we find our meaning and true

Comparison of Ethan Hawke and Kenneth Branagh s Versions of Hamlet
Modern day directors use a variety of methods to hold ones interest. Ethan Hawke and Kenneth
Branagh s created versions of Hamlet that shared some similarities, but ultimately had many
differences in respects to an audience s appeal. An appealing movie is one that has an alluring
ambiance and an intellectual stimulus. With these two movie versions, a setting and a mood forced an
audience to acquire specific emotions, but Ethan Hawke s version generated emotions more strongly
and effectively. Also, these movies had extremely different uses of music and visuals, but both movie
versions incorporated them well for the ambiance it tried to obtain. Finally, both movie ... Show more

As well, the mood of darkness and fear in Branagh s version was often lost with the abundance of
information shared between the guards in the first few scenes. Hawke s version of Hamlet was
creative and artistic. His film had a setting and a mood that strongly influenced the ambiance and that
created an abundance of thought for a modern audience. Therefore, Hawke s Hamlet was more
appealing to an audience in respects to the setting and the mood.
In these two movies, the right music and visuals had to be chosen in order to get the ambiance Hawke
and Branagh tried to obtain. Each director chose different music and images that were very visual and
auditive for an audience s appeal. In Hawke s version, visuals of New York and Times Square were
appealing to an audience. Modern music at the beginning of the film caught the interest of the younger
generation. As well, close ups of Hamlet were revealing to an audience and it was easy to feel
infatuated by the character s nihilistic despair. Branagh s version used supernatural and dark visuals of
ghosts, statues, and castles to produce feelings of awe and fear. The scene of the ghost was quick and

Crashed And Planted Analysis
I think that the opportunity for Ha and her family to stay in Saigon is going to come more and more
difficult and the author s word choice in the writings make us feel hopelessness and sadness.. For
example, when ...the Communists crashed their tanks...planted a flag with one huge star. (Lai 69) This
really told the southern Vietnamese that this country no longer belonged to them but had been taken
over. The words like Crashed and Planted really create an image of someone being a boss and taking
control of a certain area. This has much in common of when the North Vietnamese invaded and took
over the American Embassy. Additionally, when Brother Vu says , ...it s better than letting the
communists have it. (60) Ha s family knows that this option is lesser of two evils and the phrase better
than letting the communists have it really sets a tone that the communists are going to take everything
that families have and this makes us feel sadness and sorrow for their family. Finally, when the Kirks

Where Did Slaves Come To Brazil
Ever since the first coffee bean tree was discovered in Ethiopia, the bean became a pleasurable
commodity that spread quickly to Yemen and other Asian countries. It wasn t long before it came to
Brazil, becoming one of the largest coffee producing countries in the world today. Throughout time,
people came up with brewing systems and coffee making machines that made it easy to manufacture
coffee but it wasn t like that in the early 1800 s. Slaves came into Brazil and were forced to work in
difficult labor conditions to collect and roast coffee beans.
1. The first question that popped in my mind was where did slaves come from and how did they get to

Expatriation Reflection Paper
I have recently been hosted to speak at an eminent university to a class of graduate students about my
story and experience with expatriation. This experience has been quite overwhelming since it was one
of the few moments that I felt the exhilaration and passion of giving and serving. The most rewarding
part was sensing their eagerness to learn from real life experience, the hunger to discover more about
what lays beyond the doors of the university campus. I decided to speak that day about the process of
adapting to a new country and culture. Taking leaps of faith I believe that making major leaps in life is
a school on its own, this obviously came from experience. Everything that I have done to date in my
journey have been mainly driven by taking risks and stepping into the unknown. Jumping on that
plane when I was a young teenager, moving to Australia and not ever knowing whether I will ever
come back was all part of taking serious steps. This has become a natural phenomenon, changing
places, experiencing a nomadic lifestyle. In doing so, I started picking up on a pattern and seeing a
cycle forming every time I change countries and culture. So what is that pattern and how does it work?
Following an intuitive sense I truly believe that coincidences are like an encrypted message or guide
that eventually lead us into a certain path or veer us to a trajectory that we ought to follow in life. I
have undergone few of those coincidences that I eventually got to learn how to decipher it in other
words, I have learned to grow an intuitive sense that helped me navigate through a very colorful life
journey most recent one, was moving to Sao Paulo Brazil. After getting that call on that Monday
morning in Los Angeles California with an offer to relocate to Sao Paulo, I knew that my life will
change soon. My educated intuition also assured me that this new journey will be needed in my life to
get me to my next destination and adventure. Initial phase of comparison In my experience, within the
first 6 months from relocating to a new country (this could may as well be a new job, career or city) I
tend to always compare everything to my last or most exciting place I lived in. This can include

Importance Of Learning English Essay
Nowadays, English has a significant role in the society. Person in the world has been aware about the
usefullness of English because of that role. The people are enthusiastics to be able to use English in
their lives. Therefore, the major of English has been one of the most favorite majors for the learners,
especially in the university level. Moreover, this fact makes a great impact on the number of the
learners that want to take major of English. In learning English, actually, the learners will find four
main skills in their learning activity. Those four skills are reading, writing, listening and speaking.
Since those are the main skills in English, absolutely, the learners have to understand and master each
of the skill in order to reach their deep understanding in English. However, what can be seen in the
field is that the learners seem not understand the four main skills deeply, so it makes the students only
understand the surface of each skill. Then, because of that, the learners are only able to make simple
products with many errors. From those four skills, writing is one of the most important skill that the
students have to mastered. Wilson (2003: 212) stated that learning how to write well is really
important. Writing is one of the most important things that students do with their education. By
writing, the author can convey a message or information to the reader, and what authors create and
collect will not disappear just because it has been poured on the paper. The

How Can Storytelling Improve Communication Skills in a 4...
CHAPTER ONE
Introduction
This research was carried out in an Early Childhood Care and Education Centre located in an urban
community. It is based on a four year old child whose name is Sarah Lall (not real name). She is very
loving and helpful but interaction with her peers is limited since she does not speak in clear sentences.
Her words do not take the form of complete sentences and sometimes puzzles the teachers and her
peers as to what she is trying to say. Based on face to face interviews with her mother it was clear that
she is not given much opportunity to communicate at home which as a result her vocabulary is
limited. Many young children lack vital experiences in background knowledge that develop

2. How can storytelling improve social interaction in four year olds?
Summary
In summary this chapter dealt with the background of the child and the purpose of the study. It gave a
description of various strategies used through storytelling to improve the communication skills in a
four year old child. In chapter two the researcher will explore the literature that surrounds the research
study based on the effects of storytelling to improve communication skills in four year olds.
CHAPTER TWO
Literature Review The purpose of this study is to investigate the extent to which storytelling can
improve the communication skills of a four year old child in an early childhood centre. Critical to this
examination there would be two main factors contributing to the research. These are storytelling to
improve communication skills and developing communication skills. It would demonstrate a clearer
understand of the value of intervention at an early age and the effect it has on the child reaching
his/her fullest potential. Nelson (2003) explains: Infants and toddlers use story to explain and create
meaning because that s what parents and their culture do. Storytelling impacts the development of
communication skills that are critical to a child s success at school. It encourages children to listen
actively and analytically, improves verbal skills, increases the child s taught and boosts their
understanding skills.

the money spend. So, it is the important part of the election. So firstly, I need to ask for all the people

In the book of Jonah we see the vast amount of tension between both God and Jonah. He is one of the
prophets who also believes in tolerance of non Jews opposite to Ezra s and Nehemiah s stress of an
unadulterated blood race of Jews under a restrictive Jewish God. Jonah is one of a vast line of
important people in the bible who argues with God. As you see in past books of the bible everyone has
stood their own against the Lord. Jonah though decides to try and run from God. The Lord called to
Jonah and said Arise, go to Ninevah, that great city, and cry against it, but Jonah flees to Joppa, setting
sail on a ship duty bound for Tarshish, assuming he can evade the Lord. Jonah views the Lord as sort

Israel that were left behind and married foreign wives had to leave. This is not right in the meaning

you could battle equally Jonah s, Ezra s and Nehemiah s because both bring valid reasoning to their

Social Justice And Inclusion Within The Scottish Education...
The first part of this paper explores the concepts of social justice and inclusion within the Scottish
Education System. Both of which are complex theories and ultimately influence each other. What is
Social Justice? What is inclusion? How are they related? What does it mean to have an inclusive
environment for students? How do we achieve this in schools? Does society play a part in how
inclusion is introduced and maintained? These are just some of the questions that I endeavor to
explore. Consistently throughout the PGDE course we are studying how to become a more inclusive
practitioner whether it is through campus based learning, additional readings or teaching experience in
local schools. We continuously strive towards learning how to make school a more inclusive
environment. This assignment exemplified with references to reading such as Government policies,
legislation and research articles as well as reflecting on my own teaching experience I hope to
highlight the teachers role in creating an inclusive environment within an individual classroom.
Having studied selective literature with theories and research, which could have influenced Scottish
Education Policies, I draw attention to discrepancies on matters of inclusion and social justice that
exist between them and the implications they have for learning. In part 2, I will provide a critical
reflection on my own teaching practice during recent placement by making detailed connections to an
appended lesson plan.

Comparing the Movies Wall Street and Boiler Room Essay
Comparing the Movies Wall Street and Boiler Room
Profit, profit and more profit the golden pillars of capitalism. In the movies Wall Street and Boiler
Room this is the ideology that the characters uphold. While, there are many variances in the two
movies, the basic aim of both lead characters i.e. Gordan Gekko (Wall Street) and Seth Davis (Boiler
Room) is to make money. Both men are stockbrokers who deal in high finance in the exclusive world
of Wall Street. However, with both movies are set in different decades the way they go about doing so
differs.

Boiler Room on the other hand, is in set in the more familiar nineties. Overall, this decade was one of
prosperity, hard work and a significant rise in the standards of living for people all over the USA. The
attitude of the decade seemed to be work hard, play hard and all the rest will follow. Wealth was seen
as something that was easily accessible to all those who wanted it it was simply a matter of getting it.
There is easy money to be made in start ups and dot coms. Young people can be millionaires before
they even hit their twenties. People like Sabeer Bhatia of Hotmail fame have set the standards.
Both movies however, are undeniably focused on capitalism and the making, controlling and of course
spending of money. As we see in both movies, it is made by sometimes unlawful means, and
controlled by these same unethical people. The occurrence of these immense amounts of wealth is
advertised by the spending of the main characters in the films. Expensive restaurants, expensive
hotels, expensive homes, expensive paintings, state of the art technology (think Gordan Gekko s cool
cellular phone which at that time was perhaps the height of technology!), expensive suits and so on are
symbols of this wealth.
In the movie Wall Street , we also see a little bit of control exercised over the blatant capitalism. This
is in the form of trade

Compare And Contrast Politics And Political System
Here in this topic an issue arises that why we do compare and compare the political systems of the
different regions, states, and countries and as well as domestic politics.
To answer the bigger question what is politics and political systems. Politics mean the activities
associated are attached with the governance of a country or area especially the debate between parties
or regimes having power. Politics is also to struggle to gain power to rule and govern governments. On
the other hand governments have access to resources and powers to rule over people and as well as
empower people through the majority winning political party who wins to rule and impose.
Some philosophers consider politics it forces for good while others take it as force for evil. In
seventeenth and eighteenth century were the opinions that if no government existed, there would be
state of nature. Some philosophers conceive the idea of Social Contract on which societies come to an

What Is Eve s Bayou Southern Gothic
Eve s Bayou (1997) is a drama set in Louisiana and follows the narrative of a young girl named Eve
Batiste (Jurnee Smollett Bell) who becomes aware of her father, Louis Batiste s (Samuel L. Jackson)
questionable actions and the toll it has on her entire family. The film is classified as a Southern Gothic
due to its dramatic, dark, and somewhat mysterious tone and inclusion of supernatural elements. The
supernatural aspect of Eve s Bayou is addressed through voodoo. Southern films usually have a
religious characteristic involved and in Eve s Bayou, voodoo is the religion. Voodoo develops the plot,
accentuates the theme of family and also enhances the Southern Gothic authenticity by blurring the

Another possible reason is because Eve is more pure since she is younger and she is named after Eve,
the person the bayou is named after. Besides the suspicious deaths, distorted truths, and muddled
visions, Eve s Bayou also inhibits discreet references to voodoo. African Holocaust writes that: Music
and dance are key elements to Voodoo ceremonies. Ceremonies were often termed by whites Night
Dancing or Voodoo Dancing . This dancing is not simply a prelude to sexual frenzy, as it has often
been portrayed. The dance is an expression of spirituality, of connection with divinity and the spirit

As mentioned previously, Louis dances with Matty Mereaux and his daughter, Cisely, at the beginning

Glory And Centerfield Sound Devices
There are many different types of poems. All poems have a meaning to them, and those meanings are
all unique to each and every poem. Much like poems, songs have very many types and genres and
different meanings. Glory , a poem by Yusef Komunyakaa, and Centerfield , a song by John Fogerty,
are very similar to each other. Both poems and songs use poetic language such as figurative language
and sound devices. These help the poem or song flow better, sound more interesting, and keep the
readers or listeners attention. Glory is a poem about young men who use baseball as an escape from
their long, hard work days. When the men got done with work, they would go to an old baseball field

These similarities are not only the topic, but also the uses of sound devices, figurative language, and
imagery. Both the poem and the song are centered around baseball. They both mention former
baseball legends, but Glory uses them to describe the ethnicity, while Centerfield uses the names to
add some context to the song. Both use sound devices such as consonance. In Glory an example of a
consonance is Working knockout shifts daybreak (2) and in Centerfield Don t say it ain t so, you know
the time is now (15). While Glory focuses more on the players and fans, Centerfield focuses more on
the game itself. In Glory it centers in on the players and their agile nature and the way they play the
game. It depicts the fans cheering them on and the umpires dancing about calling strikes on batters.
Centerfield is more about the writer playing the game and competing to play the position, centerfield.
Another difference between the two is the context in which the game is being played. The young men
in Glory had just gotten done with a long, hard day of work and use the game as an escape from all of

Descriptive Essay About Fascinating Town
The Unknown
What don t people know? People don t know or understand many things. People first make a judgment
about someone or something. They then decide whether they like or not like someone or something.
People judge, people stare, people are rude, people are mean. You wish that everyone in the world was
nice and that the world was a safe place with no bad guys . Soon you will wake up and realize the
truth, the truth about the world and the people.
The Fascinating Town
My grandparents live in Italy. I have visited them there three times know. I love it there it is so
different from here. They live in the cutest town where there are no tourists and everyone knows each
other. The town is on a slant it almost feels like you are walking down a staircase. The main part of
town has three of the best Italian places I have ever been to. In the main part of town, there is also an
old fashioned parlor shop it makes me feel like I m in a scene in an old movie. This town is so
interesting and different and that s why I love it.
THe House of all Houses My grandparent s house in Italy is also wonderful. They live just twenty
minutes away from the town. They live way up on this mountain with only four other houses up there.
To get to their house you have to take a windy dirt road while going through a ton of trees. Normally
at night instead of deer crossing, there are chinchillas which are basically wild pigs crossing. Their
house has two parts to it a guest house and their house. The houses are made of gray stone and
covered with green moss. To get to the entrance you have to go through almost like a tunnel of
flowers. Inside it is old but also modern at the same time. The original part of the house is over 600
years old. Outside they have a garden full of different vegetables, and five acres of grape vines and
olive trees. They also have a rose garden full of beautiful red, pink, and violet roses.
The Time I went Far Away The last time I went to Italy was the summer going into 8th grade.
Normally when we go to Italy we take a different trip either within Italy or somewhere close. My
grandparents are very active and love traveling so they want us to be able to experience different
places. So they

The Diagnostic Criteria For Smartphone Addiction
The diagnostic criteria for smartphone addiction proposed in this study were based on the population
with the currently largest sample size and the diagnoses were validated by psychiatric interviews. Our
findings indicated that smartphone addiction has overlapping features with substance related or
behavioral addictive disorders, but the unique properties of smartphones, i.e. its excellent accessibility
and multiple Internet based applications, contributed to its unique but prevalent addictive behaviors.
We proposed that a strict definition for smartphone related functional impairment, requiring two or
more functional impairment criteria influenced by smartphone use. This definition is different from
the diagnostic criteria for functional impairment in DSM 5. Compared to computer based Internet
addiction, the portability of smartphones dampens the severity of functional impairment associated
with smartphone addiction, but instead influences multiple domains of an individual s daily life. In
addition, because smartphone addiction is a heterogeneous and multi faceted condition [26], we
should evaluate the heterogeneity of its functional impairment from different angles.
The symptom criteria in this study provided evidence that smartphone addiction has similar
psychopathology with the traditional substance use disorders. The core symptoms of substance use
disorders are impaired control , which consist of four criteria: (1) use larger amounts/longer, (2)

Ancient Greek And Roman Empire Essay
Ancient Greek and Roman similarities.
The ancient Greek and Roman civilizations of Europe began to progress toward a more civilized order
of society. As there were no previous establishment to base their ideals on, it was understandable that
there were some difficulties in their progression as a society. Although the ancient Greek and Roman
governments fell, both had similar paths of creation, conquest, and destruction.
Greek society began by the formation of the city state. quot; The city state, based on tribal allegiances,
was generally the first political association during the early stages of civilization. quot; ( Perry, 45)

(Perry 85)
Both Greeks and Romans tried to realize some form of democracy. quot;It is to Greece that we
ultimately trace the idea of democracy and all that accompanies it: citizenship, constitutions, equality
before the law, government by law, reasoned debate, respect for the individual, and confidence in
human intelligence. quot; (Perry, 52)
Because Rome tried to maintain a republic it had different needs compared to the Greeks. quot; The
Romans, unlike the Greeks, were distinguished by practicality and common sense, not by a love of
abstract thought. In their pragmatic and empirical fashion, they gradually developed the procedures of
public politics and the legal state. quot; (Perry 88)
The fall of the Greeks was a direct result of a breakdown of social theories. quot; When people no
longer regarded the law as an expression of sacred traditions ordained by the gods but saw it as a
merely human contrivance, respect for the law diminished, weakening the foundations of the society.
The results were party conflicts, politicians who scrambled for personal power, and moral uncertainty.
quot; (Perry 55)
The Romans suffered a similar fate as a result of an unfocused administration. quot;Instead of
developing a professional civil service to administer the conquered lands, Roman leaders attempted to

Why The Fast Food Restaurant Essay
As I pushed the door open, I came to realize why the fast food restaurant was rated only three stars.
The food, it did not satisfy me, and it cost more than the ones I bought sporadically. As I walked
towards the ACC Highland campus, a man approached me. He was shorter, skinnier, and more fragile
than I am. Excuse me, do you have thirty seven cents? I don t have enough money for the bus, he said.
Whenever someone new approaches me, I always feel nervous, and this moment was no different. I
am sorry. I used the money to buy food I ate, I quickly said.
It s all right, he hopelessly replied.
He walked away, moving towards the restaurant, anticipating to get money from someone else.
Someone kind.
Someone who s willing to give a response that could make his day.
Someone that s not a liar unlike me.
As I walked towards the community college, my mind fluttered.
Why? Why did I lie? It was a simple 37 cents. Something that could have saved him from going
through the trouble of asking any more people than he has asked already. I even had a dime in my
pocket. I should have given that to him. Or I could have given him the full thirty seven cents from my
wallet. Why did I get nervous!?
I got frustrated. I felt regret. I started feeling hate towards myself and hoped that he would find a kind
person who was willing to give him thirty seven cents.

I quickly rushed and dropped my sister off at my neighbors like I usually do. Once she was gone, I

Risk Factor For Global Disease Burden
Essential or primary hypertension, the world s leading risk factor for global disease burden, is
expected to cause more than half of the estimated 17 million deaths per year resulting from
cardiovascular disease (CVD) worldwide.1 Defined as an elevation of blood pressure (BP) beyond
140/90 mm Hg, hypertension is strongly correlated with adverse outcomes such as stroke, ischemic
heart disease, heart failure, and end stage renal disease. The challenges of managing hypertension and
preventing the development of these latter outcomes are unlikely to relent; the global burden of
hypertension is projected to increase by 60% to affect approximately 1.6 billion adults worldwide by
2025.2 In this month s topic review in Circulation: Cardiovascular ... Show more content on

These patients with resistant hypertension carry substantial risk of adverse events.5 The emergence of
renal artery de innervation may herald a novel and effective procedural option to treat these patients.6
The challenges highlighted are pertinent to many populations. Many low and middle income
countries, most of which are in the midst of the epidemiological transition, face rapidly increasing
prevalence of hypertension in the context of limited healthcare resources. In these countries, diagnosis
and appropriate management of hypertension remains disconcertingly low.7 Developing innovative
and cost effective solutions to improve hypertension diagnosis and control thus remains a key
priority.8 These issues are not limited to developing countries alone; less than 50% of the US patients
have appropriate BP control9 despite good access to care, a wealth of evidence surrounding lifestyle
modification, and the presence of highly efficacious anti hypertensive therapies. Indeed, such
persistent deficiencies have fueled national initiatives such as the HealthyPeople 2020 and the Million
Hearts initiative to focus on

Chiapas Paz Mexico Mural Analysis
The reason I think Chiapas Paz Mexico mural at City Lights bookstore on Jack Kerouac alley is art
because the artist communicates with the viewers by using art theory such as color theory, lines and
shapes, and composition on his mural.
The artist paints a work of art Chiapas Paz Mexico which is influenced by the way of life of the
people living in a river valley in Mexico. For the composition, he paints the mural by dividing two
main parts by using flat form style to tell the story. He doesn t show perspective or overlap objects on
the mural. However, the right side of the mural, he paints an unrealistic shape and forms little village
with buildings, trees, hills and people into the background of the mural, making them appear far away.
At the top of mural, there is an army standing above the mountains of the village. The other interesting
part is the old woman at the left side of the mural. She has the biggest portrait on black the
background and is separated from a part of the village by the 3 soldiers. However, there is a rainbow
ribbon connecting two parts together and the woman is a starting point of the rainbow. The rainbow
ribbon shows the movement from the old woman to the river at the bottom right and continues moves

The color tone is mostly analogous in the mural; however, there are complementary colors in detail
elements such as the artist uses blue and green for large areas to represent river and mountains, uses
red and orange to paint houses, huts, horses, small roads and clothes in the village to create emphasis
point. For the color tone that artist uses, the harmony of blue and green of the most of the areas can
represent the abundance of water or farms in the village and a rainbow ribbon shows what the leader
gives to people in the village as

Paul and the Dead Sea Scrolls Essay examples
The Essenes were a Jewish religious group that prospered from the 2nd century BCE to the 1st century
CE. They considered themselves to be a separate from others because of their inner life and their
knowledge of the hidden mysteries of nature, which were unknown to others. The Essenes thought
that they were the heirs of God and to their own civilization. They felt that they were sent out on a
mission and that they were true saints and masters of wisdom. They were open to all religions and
considered each to be a stepping stone of a single revelation. They believed that they were able to
communicate with angelic beings and thought that they had discovered the origin of Evil on Earth.
The Essenes spent most of their time decoding ancient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Dead Sea Scrolls and the Pauline Corpus both show a cognizance of the sinfulness of people and
their inaptitude to be righteous in God s eyes independent from his grace. The Essenes describe
humanity apart from God s grace in the Qumran in 1QH, IX 21 23: These things I know through Your
understanding, for You have opened my ears to wonderful mysteries even though I am a vessel of clay
and kneaded with water, a foundation of shame and a spring of filth, a melting pot of iniquity and a
structure of sin, a spirit of error, perverted without understanding and terrified by righteous judgments.
(Irons)
Paul describes that it is in fact God s grace that makes us righteous in Titus 2:11 14: For the grace of
God has appeared, saving all and training us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and live
temperately, justly, and devoutly in this age, as we await the blessed hope, the appearance of the glory
of the great God and of our savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to deliver us from all
lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a people as his own, eager to do what is good (The New
American Bible).
Both the Dead Sea Scrolls and Paul are stating that humans do in fact sin, but it is the grace of God
that gives us the chance to become righteous. Another similarity between the Dead Sea Scrolls and
Paul is predestination; both the Dead Sea Scrolls and Paul give a sense of

Roy Medvedev Analysis
With the destruction of the Tsarist regime, Russia stood at a crossroads no state had ever been at. For
the first time ever, a Socialist nation advocating Communism had managed to create a functioning
state. The works of Marx and Engels, pushed forth as the cure for the oppression of the proletariat, had
fallen successfully on the ears of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, who, with his theory of the Vanguard party,
pushed the Russian Empire into the Soviet era. Leninism became the central tenant of the Soviet
system, being advocated and admired by every successive Soviet leader, and by many in modern
Russia to this day. The modernity of the issue leads many in modern Russia to justify certain actions,
harkening back to Lenin himself, still displayed in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The virtues of one are inherently found in the other, the downfalls of one, inherently found in the other
as well. Lenin s own realization of this near the end of his life, his insistence on trying to prevent any
one man from taking power in the USSR, proves that while attempting to prevent Stalinism, Lenin s
own foundational government set the path for it. Leninism was naturally led to Stalinism, and that
must be addressed lest it be used to justify, misleadingly, the same once

Rudyard Kipling s `` If `` And Not Make Dreams Your...
In his poem If , Rudyard Kipling explains all the things that one must endure in order to become a
gentleman. Kipling describes what would happen if you can dream and not make dreams your master
that one would be a Man. The qualities that Kipling describes show a stoic person, but not someone
who is flashy. The person describes can take the good with the bad they can meet with Triumph and
Disaster and treat those two impostors just the same while keep[ing] their head [about them]. A Man
can force your heart and nerve and sinew.. and so hold on when there is nothing in you . A Man will
embrace the things that make life worth living. He will recover quickly from his losses, knowing that
he can learn from them. Another quality that Kipling emphasizes is willpower, that the Will which
says to them! Hold on! Trust in life and that everything will work out is also a quality that one must
have to be a Gentleman, and to really embrace life. To attain this wisdom and outlook on life, one
must have had experience with at least a portion of life, having the necessary experience to draw from
mistakes and repeat the actions one showed in triumphs. Even though life is not fair and one has no
idea why he is being punished, one must take it gracefully and accept the absence of such a reason as
part of the grand design of life and humankind. But the essence of If is that if one can embrace the
challenges and absurdity that life throws at oneself, then one can succeed and

  • 2. Japan s Economic History in the Last Forty Years Essay In the 1970s Japan had one of the world s most admired economies. Economists believed it would achieve the highest living standards and continue to develop the best technologies. At that time, Japan boosted he world s second largest gross national product and eventually reached number one by the late 1980s However, everything changed in the early 1990s, and Japan entered what has been described as its first lost decade (Kuepper, n.d.). Economists and historians have studied the causes for Japan s stagnation over the past twenty years, but there are significantly different opinions regarding the issue. Most agree that the huge asset bubble was the cause for the initial stagnation, but they disagree as to the reasons for why this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This led to poor supervision and allowed bad debts to continue in the financial system (Posen, 1998). The lack of effective leadership led to serious policy mismanagements and aggravated the problem. In 1997, the government issued a 2% consumption tax increase and the government also contracted spending on government projects. People became even more insecure and started saving more outside the private banking system (Posen, 1998). In this case, a government policy made the crisis even worse. Another example of policy mismanagement is he dependence on interest rate cuts from 1985 to 1987. The government did this to try to counter the deflationary impact of the yen appreciation relative to the dollar after the Plaza Accord The yen appreciation has become an enduring problem because it has restricted the success of certain policy gears that could have solved the economic problems (Okimoto, 2004). The second reason to account for the continuing stagnation is the lack of enough investments due to Japan s age. As industrialized countries age, it becomes more difficult for them to create enough investment to boost their economy. Private and government fixed investment have experienced a growth slower than the GDP from 1991 2003, which registered 0.24% and 0.59% respectively, at the start and finish of this period. Taking a closer look at private investment, private housing experienced a sharp 2.48% decline. Government and private ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Theme Of Isolation In The Asylum In various works of literature, characters that are isolated serve to convey various meanings and illustrate various arguments. Throughout the novel The Asylum, the author John Harwood places characters in contexts of isolation to demonstrate a change in their thoughts, actions, and emotions. The contextual isolation of Georgina Ferrars and Rosina Wentworth exemplify the ways that their notions change and their feelings build with exposure to isolation. When both protagonists experience forms of isolation, they contemplate and re evaluate their actions and decisions, which in turn lends themselves to a change in their various perceptions and emotions. Georgina Ferrars finds herself in isolated contexts throughout the novel, developing her thoughts and emotions. Firstly, during the course of time she spends at the Tregannon House, Georgina builds a strong relationship with Frederic Mordaunt, the doctor s secretary. When Mr. Mordaunt leaves the asylum at once and returns one day, Georgina can t handle the hate she built for him over those months. Once Mordaunt leaves the conversation, Georgina remained on the bench, shaking with emotion and realising, as [her] anger subsided, how foolishly [she] had behaved (Harwood, 98). As Georgina is exposed to this important moment of isolation, she registers that Frederic has inner feelings for her, and brings back their relationship. After being left alone for a few moments, Georgina contemplates her actions and immediately regrets ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The WTO resolution panel will use the Japan Taxes on Alcoholic Beverages case s like products test and the tariff classification test to establish the presence of nullification and impairment. The MF and Dabi are Members of the WTO and they both must abide by the WTO Agreement. This Agreement gives WTO Members benefits in return for their commitment to the Agreement. The MF is not complying with GATT Article III, Section 1 in that the MF is protecting their domestic beef products by regulating the importation of Dabi s beef products without enough scientific evidence to support the negative effects of Xamil. • 8. Tobacco Products Cause And Effects Introduction Tobacco products, specifically cigarettes, are products that usually cause a slow, painful death. If death is not eventually caused as a direct result of tobacco products, they can still result in various other debilitating illnesses. It is not only health that the use of tobacco products causes to decline, but also the monetary security of the individual indulging in these items. Whether it is money or health, tobacco products cause severe degradation in both categories. Cigarettes and other items such as snuff can be both directly and indirectly linked to many thousand cases of death and illness each year in the United States. There is no benefit to be gained from use of these harmful reagents, and for that reason a debilitating excise tax should be placed on tobacco products. Addiction All forms of tobacco, such as snuff, cigars, cigarettes, and chewing tobacco, contain the drug nicotine, which accounts for the addictive nature of these products. Nicotine is absorbed into the bloodstream when it is introduced to the body, this principle applies whether the tobacco is inhaled, smoked, or chewed. When nicotine enters the bloodstream, it instantaneously begins to stimulate the adrenal glands, otherwise known as the glands that produce adrenaline within the human body. This adrenaline, also known as the hormone epinephrine, prompts the central nervous system of the individual to increase things such as blood pressure, respiration, and heart rate (DrugFacts: ... The following is an excerpt from this source: ORIGINAL SOURCE: The major daily operating costs relate to the gasoline and oil consumed for the water taxi operation. The cost of preparing food for customers when requested is incurred by some operators. Few operators could give an accurate account of how much they spend. Many could however estimate the cost of gasoline and oil for daily operation and in some cases for a trip to the Tobago Cays (Appendix 6). According to one operator from Carriacou, his boat which is 6.5 m long uses up to 75 litres of gas per day costing up to US$60.00 along with the four bottles of oil which cost US$5.00/bottle Many operators do not have insurance for their boats: liability or boat loss. This is due to the difficulty in getting insurance for wooden boats. Two operators do however have their boats insured. One is among the largest boats which has passed the inspections of the Grenada Port Authority. The premium is US $5000.00 each year. In Queensland using spousal abuse as a defence to murder can be problematic for female defendants who kill their abusers. Jurors in most cases relating to spousal abuse tend to find the act of pre emptive killing in self defence not justifiable. Queensland s Criminal Code should be amended to allow the Abusive Domestic Relationship Defence to be used as a full defence. • 18. Narrative Voice Of The Yellow Wallpaper By Charlotte... Charlotte Perkins Gilman aptly used narrative voice to shape the meaning of The Yellow Wallpaper, by writing a first person narrative about a woman who slowly loses herself to madness. This voice is one of a woman who may possibly have post partum depression or some other form of manic depression, and her unheard cries for help. She slowly draws within herself, and allows the insanity to take over. Within the first few paragraphs we learn general characteristics about the narrator: she is middle class, as indicated by the phrase mere ordinary people (354); we also learn that she is married, suggested a statement about John laughing at her, something she says is only expected in marriage. Though we are never given her name, these generic aspects just might be more important to the progression of the story than her actual identity or personal history. No longer distracted by trying to find clues in her past that may take away from the plot, we are able to focus on the slow degeneration of a woman s mind through a journal she keeps. Narrative voice continues to morph throughout the tale, and her level of sanity is directly related to her level of reliability. The story continues through eleven different entries, each showcasing a deeper phase of madness. Every time she returns to write again, her mental condition worsens, as well as her reliability. By the final entry, we see she is somehow managing to journal while she has a full mental breakdown something that would not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Examples Of Determinism In Arrival Determinism and Free Will in Arrival If you could see your whole life from start to finish, would you change things? This is one of the heaviest hitting questions in the movie Arrival and it serves as the philosophical launching point for my discussion here. This question comes from the main character Louise directed at her future husband. As the movie progresses, we as viewers learn that the main character Louise has been given the ability to see into the future. Part of these visions include the death of her future daughter to a rare disease at a young age. Yet, even though she can see these events of the future and even though she knows of the pain and suffering they will bring, she still chooses to follow the same course of her life because she recognizes some type of greater purpose. Ethan Hawke and Kenneth Branagh s created versions of Hamlet that shared some similarities, but ultimately had many differences in respects to an audience s appeal. An appealing movie is one that has an alluring ambiance and an intellectual stimulus. With these two movie versions, a setting and a mood forced an audience to acquire specific emotions, but Ethan Hawke s version generated emotions more strongly and effectively. Hawke s version of Hamlet was creative and artistic. His film had a setting and a mood that strongly influenced the ambiance and that created an abundance of thought for a modern audience. Therefore, Hawke s Hamlet was more appealing to an audience in respects to the setting and the mood. In these two movies, the right music and visuals had to be chosen in order to get the ambiance Hawke and Branagh tried to obtain. Each director chose different music and images that were very visual and auditive for an audience s appeal. In Hawke s version, visuals of New York and Times Square were appealing to an audience. Modern music at the beginning of the film caught the interest of the younger generation. As well, close ups of Hamlet were revealing to an audience and it was easy to feel infatuated by the character s nihilistic despair. Branagh s version used supernatural and dark visuals of ghosts, statues, and castles to produce feelings of awe and fear. The scene of the ghost was quick and staggering, and it created an automatic feeling of anxiety and fear. As well, the traditional use of classical music did a skillful job of creating suspense. Crashed And Planted Analysis I think that the opportunity for Ha and her family to stay in Saigon is going to come more and more difficult and the author s word choice in the writings make us feel hopelessness and sadness.. For example, when ...the Communists crashed their tanks...planted a flag with one huge star. (Lai 69) This really told the southern Vietnamese that this country no longer belonged to them but had been taken over. • 24. Expatriation Reflection Paper I have recently been hosted to speak at an eminent university to a class of graduate students about my story and experience with expatriation. This experience has been quite overwhelming since it was one of the few moments that I felt the exhilaration and passion of giving and serving. The most rewarding part was sensing their eagerness to learn from real life experience, the hunger to discover more about what lays beyond the doors of the university campus. I decided to speak that day about the process of adapting to a new country and culture. Taking leaps of faith I believe that making major leaps in life is a school on its own, this obviously came from experience. Everything that I have done to date in my journey have been mainly driven by taking risks and stepping into the unknown. Jumping on that plane when I was a young teenager, moving to Australia and not ever knowing whether I will ever come back was all part of taking serious steps. This has become a natural phenomenon, changing places, experiencing a nomadic lifestyle. In doing so, I started picking up on a pattern and seeing a cycle forming every time I change countries and culture. So what is that pattern and how does it work? Following an intuitive sense I truly believe that coincidences are like an encrypted message or guide that eventually lead us into a certain path or veer us to a trajectory that we ought to follow in life. I have undergone few of those coincidences that I eventually got to learn how to decipher it in other words, I have learned to grow an intuitive sense that helped me navigate through a very colorful life journey most recent one, was moving to Sao Paulo Brazil. After getting that call on that Monday morning in Los Angeles California with an offer to relocate to Sao Paulo, I knew that my life will change soon. My educated intuition also assured me that this new journey will be needed in my life to get me to my next destination and adventure. Initial phase of comparison In my experience, within the first 6 months from relocating to a new country (this could may as well be a new job, career or city) I tend to always compare everything to my last or most exciting place I lived in. Both of which are complex theories and ultimately influence each other. What is Social Justice? What is inclusion? How are they related? What does it mean to have an inclusive environment for students? How do we achieve this in schools? Does society play a part in how inclusion is introduced and maintained? These are just some of the questions that I endeavor to explore. Consistently throughout the PGDE course we are studying how to become a more inclusive practitioner whether it is through campus based learning, additional readings or teaching experience in local schools. We continuously strive towards learning how to make school a more inclusive environment. This assignment exemplified with references to reading such as Government policies, legislation and research articles as well as reflecting on my own teaching experience I hope to highlight the teachers role in creating an inclusive environment within an individual classroom. Having studied selective literature with theories and research, which could have influenced Scottish Education Policies, I draw attention to discrepancies on matters of inclusion and social justice that exist between them and the implications they have for learning. As there were no previous establishment to base their ideals on, it was understandable that there were some difficulties in their progression as a society. Although the ancient Greek and Roman governments fell, both had similar paths of creation, conquest, and destruction. Greek society began by the formation of the city state. quot; The city state, based on tribal allegiances, was generally the first political association during the early stages of civilization. quot; ( Perry, 45) This was the first step in the progression toward ... (Perry 85) Both Greeks and Romans tried to realize some form of democracy. quot;It is to Greece that we ultimately trace the idea of democracy and all that accompanies it: citizenship, constitutions, equality before the law, government by law, reasoned debate, respect for the individual, and confidence in human intelligence. quot; (Perry, 52) Because Rome tried to maintain a republic it had different needs compared to the Greeks. quot; The Romans, unlike the Greeks, were distinguished by practicality and common sense, not by a love of abstract thought. In their pragmatic and empirical fashion, they gradually developed the procedures of public politics and the legal state. quot; (Perry 88) The fall of the Greeks was a direct result of a breakdown of social theories. quot; When people no longer regarded the law as an expression of sacred traditions ordained by the gods but saw it as a merely human contrivance, respect for the law diminished, weakening the foundations of the society. The results were party conflicts, politicians who scrambled for personal power, and moral uncertainty. quot; (Perry 55) The Romans suffered a similar fate as a result of an unfocused administration. quot;Instead of developing a professional civil service to administer the conquered lands, Roman leaders attempted to ... • 42. Why The Fast Food Restaurant Essay As I pushed the door open, I came to realize why the fast food restaurant was rated only three stars. The food, it did not satisfy me, and it cost more than the ones I bought sporadically. As I walked towards the ACC Highland campus, a man approached me. He was shorter, skinnier, and more fragile than I am. Excuse me, do you have thirty seven cents? I don t have enough money for the bus, he said. Whenever someone new approaches me, I always feel nervous, and this moment was no different. I am sorry. Something that could have saved him from going through the trouble of asking any more people than he has asked already. I even had a dime in my pocket. I should have given that to him. Or I could have given him the full thirty seven cents from my wallet. Why did I get nervous!? I got frustrated. I felt regret. I started feeling hate towards myself and hoped that he would find a kind person who was willing to give him thirty seven cents. *** I quickly rushed and dropped my sister off at my neighbors like I usually do. Once she was gone, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Risk Factor For Global Disease Burden Essential or primary hypertension, the world s leading risk factor for global disease burden, is expected to cause more than half of the estimated 17 million deaths per year resulting from cardiovascular disease (CVD) worldwide.1 Defined as an elevation of blood pressure (BP) beyond 140/90 mm Hg, hypertension is strongly correlated with adverse outcomes such as stroke, ischemic heart disease, heart failure, and end stage renal disease. The challenges of managing hypertension and preventing the development of these latter outcomes are unlikely to relent; the global burden of hypertension is projected to increase by 60% to affect approximately 1.6 billion adults worldwide by 2025.2 In this month s topic review in Circulation: Cardiovascular ... These patients with resistant hypertension carry substantial risk of adverse events.5 The emergence of renal artery de innervation may herald a novel and effective procedural option to treat these patients.6 The challenges highlighted are pertinent to many populations. Many low and middle income countries, most of which are in the midst of the epidemiological transition, face rapidly increasing prevalence of hypertension in the context of limited healthcare resources. In these countries, diagnosis and appropriate management of hypertension remains disconcertingly low.7 Developing innovative and cost effective solutions to improve hypertension diagnosis and control thus remains a key priority.8 These issues are not limited to developing countries alone; less than 50% of the US patients have appropriate BP control9 despite good access to care, a wealth of evidence surrounding lifestyle modification, and the presence of highly efficacious anti hypertensive therapies. Indeed, such persistent deficiencies have fueled national initiatives such as the HealthyPeople 2020 and the Million Hearts initiative to focus on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Chiapas Paz Mexico Mural Analysis The reason I think Chiapas Paz Mexico mural at City Lights bookstore on Jack Kerouac alley is art because the artist communicates with the viewers by using art theory such as color theory, lines and shapes, and composition on his mural. The artist paints a work of art Chiapas Paz Mexico which is influenced by the way of life of the people living in a river valley in Mexico. For the composition, he paints the mural by dividing two main parts by using flat form style to tell the story. He doesn t show perspective or overlap objects on the mural. However, the right side of the mural, he paints an unrealistic shape and forms little village with buildings, trees, hills and people into the background of the mural, making them appear far away. At the top of mural, there is an army standing above the mountains of the village. The other interesting part is the old woman at the left side of the mural. She has the biggest portrait on black the background and is separated from a part of the village by the 3 soldiers. However, there is a rainbow ribbon connecting two parts together and the woman is a starting point of the rainbow. The rainbow ribbon shows the movement from the old woman to the river at the bottom right and continues moves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The color tone is mostly analogous in the mural; however, there are complementary colors in detail elements such as the artist uses blue and green for large areas to represent river and mountains, uses red and orange to paint houses, huts, horses, small roads and clothes in the village to create emphasis point. For the color tone that artist uses, the harmony of blue and green of the most of the areas can represent the abundance of water or farms in the village and a rainbow ribbon shows what the leader gives to people in the village as ... • 45. Paul and the Dead Sea Scrolls Essay examples The Essenes were a Jewish religious group that prospered from the 2nd century BCE to the 1st century CE. They considered themselves to be a separate from others because of their inner life and their knowledge of the hidden mysteries of nature, which were unknown to others. The Essenes thought that they were the heirs of God and to their own civilization. They felt that they were sent out on a mission and that they were true saints and masters of wisdom. They were open to all religions and considered each to be a stepping stone of a single revelation. They believed that they were able to communicate with angelic beings and thought that they had discovered the origin of Evil on Earth. The Essenes spent most of their time decoding ancient ... The Dead Sea Scrolls and the Pauline Corpus both show a cognizance of the sinfulness of people and their inaptitude to be righteous in God s eyes independent from his grace. The Essenes describe humanity apart from God s grace in the Qumran in 1QH, IX 21 23: These things I know through Your understanding, for You have opened my ears to wonderful mysteries even though I am a vessel of clay and kneaded with water, a foundation of shame and a spring of filth, a melting pot of iniquity and a structure of sin, a spirit of error, perverted without understanding and terrified by righteous judgments. (Irons) Paul describes that it is in fact God s grace that makes us righteous in Titus 2:11 14: For the grace of God has appeared, saving all and training us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and live temperately, justly, and devoutly in this age, as we await the blessed hope, the appearance of the glory of the great God and of our savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to deliver us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a people as his own, eager to do what is good (The New American Bible). Both the Dead Sea Scrolls and Paul are stating that humans do in fact sin, but it is the grace of God that gives us the chance to become righteous. • 46. Roy Medvedev Analysis With the destruction of the Tsarist regime, Russia stood at a crossroads no state had ever been at. For the first time ever, a Socialist nation advocating Communism had managed to create a functioning state. The works of Marx and Engels, pushed forth as the cure for the oppression of the proletariat, had fallen successfully on the ears of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, who, with his theory of the Vanguard party, pushed the Russian Empire into the Soviet era. Leninism became the central tenant of the Soviet system, being advocated and admired by every successive Soviet leader, and by many in modern Russia to this day. • 47. Rudyard Kipling s `` If `` And Not Make Dreams Your... In his poem If , Rudyard Kipling explains all the things that one must endure in order to become a gentleman. Kipling describes what would happen if you can dream and not make dreams your master that one would be a Man. The qualities that Kipling describes show a stoic person, but not someone who is flashy. The person describes can take the good with the bad they can meet with Triumph and Disaster and treat those two impostors just the same while keep[ing] their head [about them]. A Man can force your heart and nerve and sinew.. and so hold on when there is nothing in you . A Man will embrace the things that make life worth living. He will recover quickly from his losses, knowing that he can learn from them. Another quality that Kipling emphasizes is willpower, that the Will which says to them! Hold on! Trust in life and that everything will work out is also a quality that one must have to be a Gentleman, and to really embrace life. To attain this wisdom and outlook on life, one must have had experience with at least a portion of life, having the necessary experience to draw from mistakes and repeat the actions one showed in triumphs. Even though life is not fair and one has no idea why he is being punished, one must take it gracefully and accept the absence of such a reason as part of the grand design of life and humankind. But the essence of If is that if one can embrace the challenges and absurdity that life throws at oneself, then one can succeed and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
