William The Conqueror Betrayal
William the Conqueror was the rightful heir to the throne of England, but was betrayed by Harold
Godwin who promised William he would step aside from the throne. King Edward was the previous
king and he died in 1064. Harold swore to William that he would not take the throne. The brother in
law of Edward did just the opposite, as the most powerful lord in all of England Harold took the
throne. Stated by William the Conqueror Biography William would be so angered by this betrayal that
would lead an invasion force into England two years later. William s invasion force would be delayed
for weeks due to severe northern winds, but the Norwegian army would invade northern England.

The Hundred Years War saw the rise of many historic military leaders and Kings. Joan of Arc is
probably the most famous figure in the war even though she fought near the end. Joan of Arc rallied
her men at the Battle of Orleans in which she captured a major victory for the French. This nineteen
year old girl from southern France was able to rally all of France to drive the English out of France.
The English although had the superior numbers and equipment. However, French unity was too much
for England to stop. Within twenty two years France defeated the English and would become a major
power in western Europe. England would run away with it s tail between its legs and start to exploring
the world and gain colonies. This war set up how these countries would influence the world with
language and culture. England with its global colonies never had a sunset in its empire. France also
had a far flung global empire. Its economic, military, and political influence never could match

Pretty In Pink Movie
You couldn t buy her, though, that s what s killing you, isn t it? That s it, Steff. She thinks you re shit.
And deep down, you know she s right. When you watch Pretty In Pink by John Hughes a comedy,
romance, and drama film taking place in the 80 s, where there are heartbreaks and reconciliations. The
screenplay for the 1986 movie was written by John Hughes and directed by Howard Deutch. A
teenager Andie Walsh, Molly Ringwald, must choose between her childhood sweetheart Duckie, Jon
Cryer, and a rich boy Blane McDonnagh, Andrew McCarthy. The film Pretty In Pink won the BMI
Film Music Award in 1987 a year after the movie was released.
Andie is a high school senior that has only a father because her mom abandoned them. Andie is a very
talented girl because she makes her own designs of clothes. She has two friends whom she hangs
around with, which is Duckie and Iona. Steff a rich boy confronts Andie as she is getting in her car

Spader makes a huge impact on the movie because in the movie he is Andrew McCarthy s friend and
tells him that he cannot be Andie s boyfriend. The actor Jon Cryer does a great job of being Andie s
friend and nothing else but her friend. In the movie, Jon Cryer fails his classes to spend time with
Andie, waits for her to come out of a club which he cannot go in, defends her when he hears Stef
talking to Blane, and sings a song for her. Jon Cryer has his moments and his jokes in the movie like
in Two In A Half Men. Andrew McCarthy and Molly Ringwald had to be in a relationship because
they come from two completely different worlds but they show that nothing is more important than
love. McCarthy and Ringwald show exactly the acting on the movie about how teenagers react to love
and how they react to breakups. Duckie was very convincing with his acting by showing his emotions

The Effectiveness of Deep-Breathing Exercises After...
The purpose of this evidence based nursing practice paper is to discuss the effectiveness of deep
breathing exercises in the care of a patient who is recently postoperative a coronary artery bypass graft
surgery (CABG). It will also critique two professional research studies on this topic, and will answer
three essential questions about each study. What are the results of the study? Are the results of the
study valid? How are the findings clinically relevant to this patient? The patient, who will be referred
to as Mr. Doe throughout this paper, is a 58 year old male with coronary artery disease. His medical
history includes angina, shortness of breath, diabetes type II, as well as hypercholesterolemia. He was
scheduled for a CABG ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two studies that will be critiqued are over the effectiveness of deep breathing exercises in
reducing postoperative pulmonary complications after CABG surgery. Study #1 showed that patients
performing deep breathing exercises after CABG surgery had significantly smaller atelectatic areas
and better pulmonary function on the fourth postoperative day compared to a control group
performing no exercises, (Westerdahl, Lindmark, Eriksson, Friberg, Hedenstierna, Tenling, 2005). .
This study began with 115 patients that were all undergoing CABG surgery at a university hospital
and were randomized to a deep breathing group that performed deep breathing exercises
postoperatively and to a control group that performed no breathing exercises, (Westerdahl, Lindmark,
Eriksson, Friberg, Hedenstierna, Tenling, 2005). Of the 115 patients in study #1, 23 were excluded for
various reasons, leaving a total of 90 patients participating. This study was a well controlled
randomized controlled trial conducted at one site with fewer than 100 patients, and according to this
information, the study is valid, and the use of deep breathing exercises in reducing pulmonary
complications postoperatively is likely to be effective. According to this study, Mr. Doe would benefit
from performing deep breathing exercises because he is a postoperative CABG patient, and the study
showed that performing these improved pulmonary

Physics of Firearms Essay
Shooting is a popular activity and it is enjoyed by many people, so much so that it is also done at a
competitive level. Although many people may have shot a firearm of some sort, few of those people
actually realize how much physics is involved with the shot.
So what exactly is Ballistics? Ballistics is the science or study of the motion of projectiles and in the
case of most firearms, these projectiles are the bullets. There are two things that affect the flight of a
bullet once it has been shot out of the gun. These things are the drag of air on the bullet and the force
of gravity acting upon the bullet.
The force of gravity acting upon the bullet is always in a constant direction, which is down, at a rate of
9.81m/s^2. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sectional density, in metric units, is calculated by multiplying the bullet weight in grams by 1.422,
then dividing this by the caliber, in millimeters, squared.
So what affect does sectional density have on the bullets trajectory? Sectional density is the number
that states the bullets ability to retain it s velocity. In other words, the higher the sectional density
value is, the flatter the trajectory of the bullet will be.
After the sectional density, next there is the shape of the bullet that affects its trajectory. The number
that is related to the shape of the bullets is called the Ballistic Coefficient (BC).
So how does the ballistic coefficient affect the bullet s trajectory? The BC is the ability for the bullet
to go through the air or it s air resistance. The higher the BC, the easier it is for the bullet to travel
through the air.
If one bullet has a ballistic coefficient of .273, and another bullet has a ballistic coefficient of .623, this
difference in the two BC values is due to the shape of the bullet. The rounded tip of the one bullet has
a harder time moving through the air than the other sharply tipped bullet.
So what other physics are involved in shooting a firearm? Energy! When a bullet is fired, it has a huge
amount of kinetic energy. This can be calculated using the formula F=MA. That is, the force, F, is
calculated with M, which is the mass of the bullet, times it s acceleration, A.
For every action

White Man s Burden Analysis
The concept of the White Man s Burden came from the Europeans belief that is was there job to shape
others into them, an idea that meant the Europeans viewed themselves as superior to the rest of the
world. The a thirst for power in Europe and nations sought ways to gain more. The widely unexplored
continent of Africa was viewed as a source of said power and for imperialism. Imperialism is when a
strong nation seeks to dominate another country politically, economically, and socially. The driving
force for imperialism was economic while competition and politics were propellers in their actions.

Washington Mutual Mortgage Scandal
1. Form my understanding the Washington Mutual Mortgage scandal, the banks were leading out more
money to people that could not afford the loan was an everyday occurrence. In this case it really
shows that a lot of the time doing the wrong thing can be a lot easier than doing the right thing. When
you really don t have to look at credit scores, and it is a lot easier to give someone something they
want when really they can afford. Darley points out when this is a daily happing and the boss tell you
to do it, people tend to conform. After enough people conform this becomes a social norm of the work
environment.
2. I think the biggest problem that both places had is so many people trun a blind eye to the backroom

The Reality of Evil Within Us In the novel Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, Marlow, the Lawyer,
the Doctor and the Accountant voyage down to Africa from London to assist the Europeans with their
mission to rule the Natives and discover ivory. This roots one to assume to being in a day dream where
it s amazing as if you were having the time of your life than all of a sudden hell drops and you die
resulting in a constant one s life. The complexity of inadequate regularity results in a fading reality, in
which deaths and complications arise and cause evil to take root within humans. The lack of deviation
in the novel Heart of Darkness results in a reality fading for Marlow. I felt often its mysterious
stillness watching me at my monkey tricks, just as it watches you fellows performing on your
respective tight ropes for what is it? Half a crown a tumble try to be civil, Marlow (Conrad 42).
Marlow is forgetting his old regularity in London because he is being taken over by Africa s constant
which is dark, and violent, and is referred to as the heart of darkness . As a result, Marlow becomes
attached to the heart of darkness, which can cause a dilemma when he returns to London because it
will constantly remind him of horrors that he witnessed. Marlow was aware that his gasp on reality
was weakening and thus, felt the need to remind himself to be civil. They would have been more

GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba Army Pfc. Alec Manning received the honor of being promoted to
private first class by the Sgt. Maj. of the Army Daniel A. Dailey during his recent visit to Joint Task
Force U.S. Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba at the Seaside Galley June 11.
Manning, a Benton Harbor, Michigan native and assigned to the Joint Task Force s 525th Military
Police Battalion, said, My team leader came to me and he asked who I would like to be pinned by. I
knew he [sergeant major of the Army] was coming to the island pretty soon.
He did not think much about what he had said until Sgt. 1st Class Kale Webster, a platoon sergeant for
the 525th MP Bn., asked him a similar question while talking about his promotion, said Manning.
Manning said, I was talking to my platoon sergeant [Webster] and told him that the sergeant major of
the Army was coming and I said, I heard the sergeant major of the Army is coming; how about that?
Initially, I was kidding, I wasn t serious.
Webster told Manning that we can make it happen if that is what he wanted, said Manning
Manning made an inquiry to me about his promotion because he knew that the sergeant major of the

Virtual Reality and Nursing Essay
The intention of virtual reality is to help the user relate, assess, as well as manipulate the environment,
which is computer generated (Weiss, and Jessel, 1998). The practice and use of computerized
capability is swiftly increasing in nursing school and in healthcare. An evolving computer technology
tactic for nursing learning is the application of virtual reality simulation. This computer built three
dimensional information tool mimics patients in real life in a safe environment, allowing recurring
rehearsal sessions, it involves clinical assessment, and it helps students discover different situations
among patients, and it also offers immediate response. This is also an effort to keep costs down and

When nurses are made aware and prepared for these complex situations, this assists in reducing harm
and it also improves patients safety (Weiss, and Jessel, 1998). Based on the article it was reported that,
healthcare providers are more likely to create errors or problems the first time they conduct any
procedure. (Weiss, and Jessel, (1998). The preparations of appropriate experiences when learning and
meeting the prospects of healthcare can be quite overwhelming for both students as well as the
instructors. The study revealed that virtual reality simulation is an effective computerized teaching
strategy, whereby real life events are simulated as well as other nursing experiences. The study
reduces most of errors encountered, and allows unlimited procedures when practicing and offers
effective feedback among the students and the trainers (Abrams, 2002). The study also revealed that
nursing students put their attention on skills rather than exhibit concern in the preparation of nursing.

History of Tea in Japan and the Japanese Tea Ceremony Essay
According to Brown, tea is classified among the most significant non alcoholic beverage across the
globe. It has gained fame as a result of its benefits. Tea is an inclusive aspect of the daily life of the
Japanese individual attributable to its ceremonial and ritual characteristics. It has been treated as a
cultural beverage and consumed in a refined atmosphere. Tea drinking in Japan has undergone
refinement under the support of the shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa. He was the regarded as the first ruler
patron of the tea ceremony. Since historical times, tea was incorporated as an element of an
independent secular ceremony. Over the past 5,000 years, the Japan have consumed green tree which

priest, Eisai and pioneer of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism is particularly known for introducing tea

and religious orders, but also by the ordinary people. In the early medieval age, tea was consumed as a
beverage for all classes in Japan. Tea drinking was embraced by the Japanese nobility, samurai, and
commoners. By the late 14th century, tea was used at the social events of the basara daimyo, to review

Respect and Why the Marine Corps Has a Rank Structure. Essay
Respect and why the Marine Corps has a rank structure. There are very few things in the modern
military of today or any military that has ever existed before our current military for that matter, that
are more important than the rank structure and the the respect that is demanded of you by that rank
structure. Those are two very important characteristics of every successful military unit. With added
details here and there, in this essay I will mainly be discussing what respect actually is, how being
respected is normally earned and in the military how it is demanded of you as a sub ordinate to any
ranks higher than you or in some cases any fellow military personnel who is more senior to you and
why. On top of that I will be covering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We must see that potential. We all need respect, regardless of how immature and gay we behave. We
all need others to see our potential and honor it to better encourage us to grow into it. Some respect
sound judgement, some strength or power. Some respect altruism, some purposefulness. Parents and
teachers may provide initial guidance but what you respect in a person is ultimately your privilege. A
Privilege. However skewed my opinion might be the fact is that in most cases respect is earned by the
actions towards an individual. All that being said the military works a little different. Respect in the
military is demanded of you by your Superior Officers, NCOs and others of same rank that have three
months more salt on there collar. This is where not so much the definition but the reason it is given
can get shifty. It is when one must absolutely show respect without the normal necessity of actually
respecting that person specifically. You are respecting the title held by a male or female that is above
you, normally by a pay grade or 4 and in the Commissioned Officers case, on a whole different level
than you are as an enlisted man. Not to say that one cannot find an Commissioned Officer or Non
Commissioned Officer that actually deserves it for his or her character traits. Because I haven t met
too many Non Commissioned or Commissioned officers that don t deserve respect for all reasons.

Confucianism Daoism
Taoist principles have continuously shaped the teachings of martial arts. Transcribed in literature, the
art of martial arts was symbolically represented through supernatural images of the assassin, the Xia
character, and the knight errant. Although Confucianism, Legalism, and Daoism all influenced the
establishment of the martial value within martial arts, Daoism functions as the greatest influence
within martial arts that is observable through literature and film. The portrayal of martial arts
throughout time demonstrates Taoist principles that emphasize both supernatural and philosophical
elements. Beginning in 722 B.C.E, Confucianism and Daoism co existed to produce Chinese traditions

As an early form of martial arts, Tai chi emphasizes a softer and internalized approach to achieving
Dao. While practicing Tai chi, one must internalize themselves in relation to their environment. The
basis of Tai chi revolves around the idea that the human body functions as a microcosm of the
universe. By understanding one s qi energy flow one attains the capacity to function like the universe.
The goal of Tai chi is to harness the energy (qi) of nature itself and bring it into the body. As a result,
bringing the natural energy of the environment into the body will produce a balance and thus, improve
mental and physical health. The art of Tai chi and its emphasis on the connection between the cosmos
and the individual s body heightens the Taoist idea that everything that exists has a source or a reason
behind its existence. Furthermore, since the human body exists as a microcosm of the universe, it has
the potential to develop and function similarly to the universe. This connection between the internal
and external body can be examined through the Taoist representation of the human

Societal Values Of The Buck V. Bell Decision
Societal Values of the Buck v. Bell Decision The Supreme Court decision in Buck v. Bell displays
some clues to the values of early twentieth century American society. The interpretation of the 14th
Amendment of the United States Constitution is the lynchpin of the decision, and the values of the
court can be derived from it. In this essay I will demonstrate that the ambiguity of the Amendment in
question has significant consequences, the ethics of the interpretation of the Amendment is derived
form the paternalistic nature of the Constitution, and that equality of the law is subservient to the
desire for a homogeneous and comfortable cultural environment. Interpretation of the 14th
Amendment The central contention of the case is of the interpretation of the 14th Amendment of the
US Constitution. The court argued that it was within the power of the State under the Fourteenth
Amendment to provide sexual sterilization to those who were found to be with an heredity form of
insanity or imbecility. Upon close examination of the 14th Amendment, one can see the ambiguity it
contains. The Amendment can be read as really saying that the state shall make or enforce any law
which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; ...deprive any person
of life, liberty, or property as long as due process of law is followed, and granted the equal protection
of the laws. And this seems to be the way the Supreme Court read it. Since due process was

With the constant development of technology over the last few decades, there has been a constant
increase in the demand of services by the human population. This has resulted in increased devotion of
resources in the application of science and technology and hence overall increase in the need of better

resulted in forcing the manufacturing companies to outsource its intellectual property (IP) to foreign

Literature Review The present decade has experienced a rapid growth in the production of electronic
devices. These devices have surely increased the accessibility and comfort but they are also subject to
security issues. The increase in security of such electronic facility has been a necessity with the
introduction of hardware circuits which tamper their behavior. A Hardware Trojan is a malicious,
undesired, intentional modification of an electronic circuit or design, resulting in the undesired
behaviour of an electronic device when in operation. It is like a back door that can be inserted into
hardware a foothold that an adversary can leverage to attack a system [1]. A hardware Trojan is
considered to be an intentional modification in the physical structure of the IC which can render the IC
to be either functionless or malfunction. Such conditions can result in disastrous outcomes when it
comes to applications of high level security and military usage. A hardware Trojan can either use the
existing signals in an IC and corrupt or alter them, hence damaging the data and commands and in turn
resulting in improper execution of the hardware. It can also

researchers followed the exploratory approach, as they previously carried out a study so they had

they think. The exporter approach allows flexibility in experiments, and confirmatory use pre

The traditional material for aircrafts is aluminium while composite material content has always been
less than 20% until the recent years. The latest aircraft models by Airbus and Boeing have composites
content of 50% or more. (Mauricuien, n.d.) It has brought about many benefits to the industry but also
causes difficulties in maintenance and safety issues. The drive of the material evolution is due the
economic factors and higher expectation of society as technology advances. The report includes how
the advantages of the composite material make it attractive by helping to solve the issues faced by the

(IATA, n.d.) Therefore the fuel price hike and carbon emission issues made the light weight composite
very attractive as it lowered fuel consumption and carbon emission.
Corrosion and Fatigue Free
Composite materials are highly resistant to chemicals and do not corrode easily. (Ingenia, n.d.) Hence,
reducing the amount of chemicals needed to prevent corrosion. (Airbus, n.d.) Airliners used to face
fatigue crack and corrosion with the traditional aluminium floor beams. However, when the Boeing
777 was designed with composite floor beams, not a single floor beam has been replaced till date after
flying for more than 10 years. (Boeing, n.d.)
Lower Maintenance Cost
The corrosion and fatigue free characteristic of composite materials has helped to reduce the amount
of scheduled maintenance greatly. Aircrafts are able to have a longer interval between each scheduled
maintenance by having its first visual structure check at 6 years and first heavy check at 12 years.
(Boeing, n.d.) This new maintenance schedule was introduced for the Boeing 787 and the Airbus 350.
Man hours for each check can also be reduced by 20%. Overall reduction of labour hours over 25
years for different checks can be seen in Figure 1. (Boeing, n.d.) The reduction of scheduled
maintenance and labour hours significantly aid in the reduction of the overall maintenance cost. The
longer scheduled maintenance intervals would also allow the aircrafts to sustain a longer airborne
period.

Close Reading Of Mcteague
Humans are meant to empathize with one another, it is in the nature of people and it inherent to the
human psyche. Though, people attempt to cover up their empathy and show disinterest towards others,
the kind nature to feel bad for those lesser than ourselves tends to shine though. The narrator in the
passage, seemingly uninterested in McTeague s life, is actually wuite the opposite. Rather than turn a
blind eye to the life of McTeague, he actually seems to pity the man. This is shown through diction,
tone, and details presented to the reader in the text. Authors hand select words that match their ideas
and their goals for their writing, and this piece is no different. The narrator uses words that hail a
negative connotation. By presenting McTeague as Sluggish the reader is lead to believe that he is lazy
or inept. The narrator seems to hold an air of contempt and pity for McTeague, believing him to be
unintelligent and slow minded. The narrator also implies that he is poor by inferring that McTeague s

Summary Of The Synthesis Of Eugenol From Cloves
The main objective of the lab work done was the extraction of eugenol from cloves, after which a
calculation of the the percentage recovery of it is researched, and to the running of an IR in order to
analyze the purity of the lab sample. Eugenol is the byproduct of the oil extract from cloves. This
produced oil consists of mostly eugenol and acetyleugenol. In medical purposes, the oil could be used
as a dental anesthetic. It is also one of the best over the counter cure for a toothache. (Kluger, 2016)

General H. Norman Schwarzkop s Involvement in the Conflict...
In 1990, the U.S. found itself in the middle of a conflict between Iraq and Kuwait. Iraq invaded
Kuwait and took over the country and was threatening the world s oil economy. General H. Norman
Schwarzkopf is the Commander in Chief of the United States Army Central Command, CENTCOM,
at the time and is about to make his mark in military history. GEN Schwarzkopf along with GEN
Colin Powell will become the newest military commanders to lead the U.S. military into battle. This
conflict will go down in history as one of the fastest battles of all times. This will also bring to end the
career of one of the U.S. military s greatest leaders. On August 22, 1934, Herbert Norman

In 1971 now Colonel Schwarzkopf returned to the United States. The Army sent him out to talk to
civilian groups about the war. Schwarzkopf was shocked at the depth of public hostility to the war and
to the military. He came to believe that the government had embarked on a military venture with
unclear objectives, no support from the public and a confused strategy that made victory impossible.
For a time, he considered leaving the service, but determined that he would stay, and that any war
fought under his command would be conducted very differently. Over the next 20 years, Schwarzkopf
worked his way up the ranks, alternating between administrative positions in Washington, and
command assignments with infantry divisions throughout the U.S. and Germany. In 1988
Schwarzkopf was promoted to General and was assigned as Commander in Chief of CENTCOM,
located at McDill Air Force Base. CENTCOM is responsible for operations in the Horn of Africa, the
Middle East, and South Asia. In his capacity as commander, Schwarzkopf prepared a detailed plan for
the defense of the oil fields of the Persian Gulf against a hypothetical invasion by Iraq. Within months,
Iraq invaded Kuwait, and Schwarzkopf s plan had an immediate practical application. In August 1990

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is the governing body of College athletics, and

the NCAA has misguided or cruel intentions, it is that it is too big of an organization to effectively

It was apparent when Brian Bosworth, an Oklahoma University football player, wore a shirt on

years or so, it has gained national traction and become a synonymous chant with many across the
nation, who desired sweeping reform. The organization was not originally designed to execute what it
carries out, and needs to change, or give way to a new governing body for intercollegiate affairs. It is a
political machine, that selectively prosecutes cases, and is biased on a variety of issues. It has no clear
balance or accountability partner for its actions either. It is blatant that the only acceptable course of
action is a systematic change in the system, from all sides. The solutions are simple. A thorough

Good, Evil and Ethics in J.R.R. Tolkien s The Lord of the...
Good, Evil and Ethics in J.R.R. Tolkien s The Lord of the Rings
Professor s Comment: This student was very wise not to summarize Tolkien s Lord of the Rings. The
student s primary intention was to describe the ethical themes that can be found in the book. The first
part of this essay describes Tolkien s view on the nature of good and evil, while the second part deals
with his ethics of individuals. Excellent work!
Introduction
The Lord of the Rings, by J.R.R. Tolkien, has been called by some one of the greatest books of all
time and has recently earned the claim of greatest book of the 20th century in a poll by Britain s
Channel 4 (O hehir). Yet at the same time scholars have often dismissed The Lord of the Rings as a

It could be argued that there is nothing that does not fall outside the laws of nature. But this is not the
perspective that Tolkien expresses. To him, living in England during the first and second World Wars,
the use of technology as a tool of destruction and conquest was unnatural and evil. In his books, he
embodies the idea of technology as magic. This magic or technology is ultimately evil, since its use,
for good or malicious intent, always results in the disruption of the cycles of nature. For example, in
Middle Earth (Tolkien s fictional world), the pinnacle of technology is reached in the creation of
magic rings. These rings are designed to further the processes of nature, to bring great abundance and
prosperity to the land. But nature must return to normal, and before the story ends, the power of these
good rings is destroyed along with that of the evil One Ring.
This brings up another important aspect of Tolkien s good and evil: once technology (or magic) is
used to disrupt nature, only similar technology can be used to combat it. This creates an unfortunate
cycle. Those whose have no technology must develop it in order to fight those who threaten them with
it. Once a people have defeated their enemy by means of this technology, they have already disrupted
the cycles of nature in doing so. Tolkien sees this as the reason behind the persistence of evil.

Management Style At Arizona Central Credit Union
Organizational Management Approach Analysis
The management approach of any one organization is unique and varied based on the needs of the
business or the type of organization. When developing this management approach, in my opinion, it is
critical to adapt and to use many sources of knowledge to be successful. These sources of knowledge
can be traced to historical theories that have been developed throughout recent history, and are critical
to the understanding of how practical applications can be successfully used. It is also argued that
modern students of management do not have the practical understanding or awareness of these
historical theories because of the misguided curriculum and lack of interest (Cummings Bridgman,
2011). The purpose of this paper approaches some historical theories in comparison to the modern
management style within a credit union to demonstrate the use of these theories as a management tool.
Management Style at Arizona Central Credit Union
The management style at Arizona Central Credit Union, one of my former employers, is complex and

David Crockett s Remember The Alamo
Introduction Do not be uneasy about me. I am among friends. I will close with great respects. Your
affectionate father. Farewell. These are final lines in a letter written by David (Davey) Crockett, to his
daughter and son in law in the weeks leading up to the thirteen day siege by President General
Antonio of the Alamo Mission near modern day San Antonio. At some point during the siege:
Crockett, James Bowie, William Travis and a disputed one hundred and eighty to two hundred and
sixty men would give their lives in defense of the small, former Spanish Mission against a wildly,
numerically superior force. This battle and the deaths of these men would become the rallying point of
those throughout Texas declaring their independence from Mexico. Remember the Alamo!

While the Alamo and by extension San Antonio were lost to Santa Anna and his Army, the bravery and

mitral valve and finally into the body. During fetal development, however there are the risks for
congenital anomalies. These congenital heart disorders consist of Atrial septal defect (ASD) and

Alan Turing s Impact On Modern Day World
Life of Imitation Father of Artificial Intelligence, inventor, Enigma breaker, war hero. The life of
mathematician Alan Turing is one of extreme feats and tragedy. Even from a young age, Turing was
misunderstood and unappreciated, and this became a common theme all the way to his death at the
young age of 41. Alan Turing envisions a digital world centuries ahead of his time. Everything he did
still has a major impact on our modern day world. Yet his impact is still unrecognized. Alan Mathison
Turing was born on June 23, 1912 in Maida Vale, London. Even from a young age Turing showed
signs of a genius, so his parents father Julius Mathison Turing (1873 1947) and mother Ethel Sara

The Two Koreas and the Responsibility of the International...
The conflict in the Korean peninsula should not be the exclusive concern of the East Asian region nor
the American powers. In an increasingly globalized world, the challenges to human rights and world
peace is a transnational responsibility. It is a concern for the entire international community,
particularly in this case as the commission has mentioned, because of the international community s
past involvement in the division of the Korean peninsula (United Nations Human Rights Council 16).
Yet, it appears that despite what we have learned from history, such as the horrific atrocities that
occurred in Nazi Germany and Rwanda, the rest of the world seems willing to sit idly by with regard
to the continuing abuses in North Korea.
The reality of human rights abuses in North Korea has already been established time and time again.
Yet, no serious, collective efforts and action at the international level has yet to emerge from these
discussions, reports and investigations.
The very recent publication of a comprehensive report by the United Nations Commission of Inquiry
on human rights in the Democratic People s Republic of Korea establishes credible evidence and
knowledge of the situation in North Korea. With knowledge of the unparalleled conditions, the
international community now has no excuse for its inaction. Although the global community faces
many challenges such as issues of state sovereignty, it must remember the many human lives at stake
and the fundamental right to

Isis-Aphrodite Research Paper
In 30 BCE, Egypt became a province of Rome. A devastating military defeat at the Battle of Actium
caused the fall of Egypt s Pharaohs and on a larger scale, the rise of the Roman Empire. With any
great changes in society come a massive change in expression, and the art of Roman Egypt is certainly
a prime example. The artistic canons and subjects of Ancient Egypt that had lasted millennia suddenly
change and are eventually replaced by Rome s. In this paper I will discuss the merging of the two
cultures and artistic styles. Isis Aphrodite is an amalgam of two goddesses and two art styles. As her
name implies she is a combination of Isis, the Egyptian goddess of motherhood, and Aphrodite, the
Roman goddess of fertility, beauty and love. This combination makes her the ultimate mother goddess,
representing both fertility and being a mother. She dates from the Roman Period, around 200 CE, and
was made in Egypt. The piece stands at the respectable height of 19 ½ inches tall and 4 15/16 inches
wide, and is made of white engobe, a type of slip with a little more filler than usual. The details are

Unusual Languages of the World
Jenn Beckmann
Part 1
2. Define pidgin and creole and explain the difference between them.
Pidgins and creoles are both languages that occur when two people of different languages are
communicating (p.232). In order to define a pidgin, it is important to look at the process in which a
pidgin develops. When contact between speakers of two different languages occurs and they begin to
create ways of communication through words and phrases, pre pidgin is developing. A pidgin
develops as a new language when the original group or several groups of people begin using the pre
pidgin to communicate as the common language. The pidgin is then being used as the lingua franca (p.
233). Depending on the use of the language, there is also a restricted pidgin and expanded pidgin.
Restricted pidgin is only used when necessary for communication and typically has small vocabulary
and little grammar. Expanded pidgin is a pidgin that is used everyday and in different entities such as
religion or the government. This type of pidgin has an expanded vocabulary and grammar. On the
other hand, a creole is a pidgin that children learn and use as their first language. With children learn
the language as their first, it will expand to community usage. Gramatics are much more complex in a
creole as is the vocabulary of the language (p.234). There are differences between a pidgin and creole
that can be defined. A pidgin is spoken between people of different languages with less vocabulary

Plato, An Ancient Greek Philosopher
Plato, an Ancient Greek Philosopher by Carly Rittenmeyer
Bible and the Ancient World
Spring 2015
Plato, a Greek Philosopher, is known for his writings that impacted people in the Ancient Greek
society. He was a free thinker and lived in a free city, Athens. He was taught by multiple teachers
including Socrates who was frequently mentioned in his writings as the central character. Plato s
novel, The Republic, influenced the idea of government and shows his views on the world.

He was a close family friend and the teacher of Plato. He looked up to many philosophers as role
models which reflected on his knowledge and education. Socrates taught many students and was able
to pass down his knowledge on philosophy. Socrates told his students that the the unquestioned life is
not worth living (Stockdale 1). He is saying that if a person does not question their life and is able to
just live without questioning the society, then life is not worth living. This influenced Plato to question
society and state his opinions through his writings. Socrates was mentioned in many of Plato s
dialogues as the central character. Socrates was convicted of treason by the Athenians and sentenced
to death. His death was based on his attitude and teachings. His death turned Plato away from
democracy which then led to him on a path of philosophy. Plato s philosophy forever changed Western
ethical and political thought. Through his philosophy, he was able to impact the morals of the people
in the society. After the death of Socrates, Plato was able to travel for about twelve years and
journeyed Italy and Sicily to study with other philosophers. When he was traveling, he learned
Pythagorean mathematics and he was able to be apart of the military again. When he returned to
Athens, Plato founded a school titled The Academy in about 387. This school was

Spader makes a huge impact on the movie because in the movie he is Andrew McCarthy s friend and tells him that he cannot be Andie s boyfriend. The actor Jon Cryer does a great job of being Andie s friend and nothing else but her friend. In the movie, Jon Cryer fails his classes to spend time with Andie, waits for her to come out of a club which he cannot go in, defends her when he hears Stef talking to Blane, and sings a song for her. Jon Cryer has his moments and his jokes in the movie like in Two In A Half Men. Andrew McCarthy and Molly Ringwald had to be in a relationship because they come from two completely different worlds but they show that nothing is more important than love. • 4. The Effectiveness of Deep-Breathing Exercises After... The purpose of this evidence based nursing practice paper is to discuss the effectiveness of deep breathing exercises in the care of a patient who is recently postoperative a coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG). It will also critique two professional research studies on this topic, and will answer three essential questions about each study. What are the results of the study? Are the results of the study valid? How are the findings clinically relevant to this patient? The patient, who will be referred to as Mr. Doe throughout this paper, is a 58 year old male with coronary artery disease. His medical history includes angina, shortness of breath, diabetes type II, as well as hypercholesterolemia. He was scheduled for a CABG ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The two studies that will be critiqued are over the effectiveness of deep breathing exercises in reducing postoperative pulmonary complications after CABG surgery. Study #1 showed that patients performing deep breathing exercises after CABG surgery had significantly smaller atelectatic areas and better pulmonary function on the fourth postoperative day compared to a control group performing no exercises, (Westerdahl, Lindmark, Eriksson, Friberg, Hedenstierna, Tenling, 2005). . This study began with 115 patients that were all undergoing CABG surgery at a university hospital and were randomized to a deep breathing group that performed deep breathing exercises postoperatively and to a control group that performed no breathing exercises, (Westerdahl, Lindmark, Eriksson, Friberg, Hedenstierna, Tenling, 2005). Of the 115 patients in study #1, 23 were excluded for various reasons, leaving a total of 90 patients participating. This study was a well controlled randomized controlled trial conducted at one site with fewer than 100 patients, and according to this information, the study is valid, and the use of deep breathing exercises in reducing pulmonary complications postoperatively is likely to be effective. • 5. Physics of Firearms Essay Shooting is a popular activity and it is enjoyed by many people, so much so that it is also done at a competitive level. Although many people may have shot a firearm of some sort, few of those people actually realize how much physics is involved with the shot. So what exactly is Ballistics? Ballistics is the science or study of the motion of projectiles and in the case of most firearms, these projectiles are the bullets. There are two things that affect the flight of a bullet once it has been shot out of the gun. These things are the drag of air on the bullet and the force of gravity acting upon the bullet. The force of gravity acting upon the bullet is always in a constant direction, which is down, at a rate of 9.81m/s^2. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sectional density, in metric units, is calculated by multiplying the bullet weight in grams by 1.422, then dividing this by the caliber, in millimeters, squared. So what affect does sectional density have on the bullets trajectory? Sectional density is the number that states the bullets ability to retain it s velocity. In other words, the higher the sectional density value is, the flatter the trajectory of the bullet will be. After the sectional density, next there is the shape of the bullet that affects its trajectory. The number that is related to the shape of the bullets is called the Ballistic Coefficient (BC). So how does the ballistic coefficient affect the bullet s trajectory? The BC is the ability for the bullet to go through the air or it s air resistance. The higher the BC, the easier it is for the bullet to travel through the air. If one bullet has a ballistic coefficient of .273, and another bullet has a ballistic coefficient of .623, this difference in the two BC values is due to the shape of the bullet. The rounded tip of the one bullet has a harder time moving through the air than the other sharply tipped bullet. So what other physics are involved in shooting a firearm? Energy! When a bullet is fired, it has a huge amount of kinetic energy. This can be calculated using the formula F=MA. That is, the force, F, is calculated with M, which is the mass of the bullet, times it s acceleration, A. For every action ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Form my understanding the Washington Mutual Mortgage scandal, the banks were leading out more money to people that could not afford the loan was an everyday occurrence. In this case it really shows that a lot of the time doing the wrong thing can be a lot easier than doing the right thing. When you really don t have to look at credit scores, and it is a lot easier to give someone something they want when really they can afford. Darley points out when this is a daily happing and the boss tell you to do it, people tend to conform. After enough people conform this becomes a social norm of the work environment. 2. The complexity of inadequate regularity results in a fading reality, in which deaths and complications arise and cause evil to take root within humans. The lack of deviation in the novel Heart of Darkness results in a reality fading for Marlow. I felt often its mysterious stillness watching me at my monkey tricks, just as it watches you fellows performing on your respective tight ropes for what is it? • 13. Respect and Why the Marine Corps Has a Rank Structure. Essay Respect and why the Marine Corps has a rank structure. There are very few things in the modern military of today or any military that has ever existed before our current military for that matter, that are more important than the rank structure and the the respect that is demanded of you by that rank structure. Those are two very important characteristics of every successful military unit. With added details here and there, in this essay I will mainly be discussing what respect actually is, how being respected is normally earned and in the military how it is demanded of you as a sub ordinate to any ranks higher than you or in some cases any fellow military personnel who is more senior to you and why. We all need others to see our potential and honor it to better encourage us to grow into it. Some respect sound judgement, some strength or power. Some respect altruism, some purposefulness. Parents and teachers may provide initial guidance but what you respect in a person is ultimately your privilege. A Privilege. However skewed my opinion might be the fact is that in most cases respect is earned by the actions towards an individual. All that being said the military works a little different. Respect in the military is demanded of you by your Superior Officers, NCOs and others of same rank that have three months more salt on there collar. This is where not so much the definition but the reason it is given can get shifty. It is when one must absolutely show respect without the normal necessity of actually respecting that person specifically. You are respecting the title held by a male or female that is above you, normally by a pay grade or 4 and in the Commissioned Officers case, on a whole different level than you are as an enlisted man. By understanding one s qi energy flow one attains the capacity to function like the universe. The goal of Tai chi is to harness the energy (qi) of nature itself and bring it into the body. As a result, bringing the natural energy of the environment into the body will produce a balance and thus, improve mental and physical health. Bell displays some clues to the values of early twentieth century American society. The interpretation of the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution is the lynchpin of the decision, and the values of the court can be derived from it. In this essay I will demonstrate that the ambiguity of the Amendment in question has significant consequences, the ethics of the interpretation of the Amendment is derived form the paternalistic nature of the Constitution, and that equality of the law is subservient to the desire for a homogeneous and comfortable cultural environment. Interpretation of the 14th Amendment The central contention of the case is of the interpretation of the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution. The court argued that it was within the power of the State under the Fourteenth Amendment to provide sexual sterilization to those who were found to be with an heredity form of insanity or imbecility. The increase in security of such electronic facility has been a necessity with the introduction of hardware circuits which tamper their behavior. A Hardware Trojan is a malicious, undesired, intentional modification of an electronic circuit or design, resulting in the undesired behaviour of an electronic device when in operation. It is like a back door that can be inserted into hardware a foothold that an adversary can leverage to attack a system [1]. A hardware Trojan is considered to be an intentional modification in the physical structure of the IC which can render the IC to be either functionless or malfunction. Such conditions can result in disastrous outcomes when it comes to applications of high level security and military usage. A hardware Trojan can either use the existing signals in an IC and corrupt or alter them, hence damaging the data and commands and in turn resulting in improper execution of the hardware. It could be argued that there is nothing that does not fall outside the laws of nature. But this is not the perspective that Tolkien expresses. To him, living in England during the first and second World Wars, the use of technology as a tool of destruction and conquest was unnatural and evil. In his books, he embodies the idea of technology as magic. This magic or technology is ultimately evil, since its use, for good or malicious intent, always results in the disruption of the cycles of nature. For example, in Middle Earth (Tolkien s fictional world), the pinnacle of technology is reached in the creation of magic rings. These rings are designed to further the processes of nature, to bring great abundance and prosperity to the land. But nature must return to normal, and before the story ends, the power of these good rings is destroyed along with that of the evil One Ring. This brings up another important aspect of Tolkien s good and evil: once technology (or magic) is used to disrupt nature, only similar technology can be used to combat it. This creates an unfortunate cycle. Those whose have no technology must develop it in order to fight those who threaten them with it. Once a people have defeated their enemy by means of this technology, they have already disrupted the cycles of nature in doing so. Tolkien sees this as the reason behind the persistence of evil. ... • 34. The Two Koreas and the Responsibility of the International... The conflict in the Korean peninsula should not be the exclusive concern of the East Asian region nor the American powers. In an increasingly globalized world, the challenges to human rights and world peace is a transnational responsibility. It is a concern for the entire international community, particularly in this case as the commission has mentioned, because of the international community s past involvement in the division of the Korean peninsula (United Nations Human Rights Council 16). Yet, it appears that despite what we have learned from history, such as the horrific atrocities that occurred in Nazi Germany and Rwanda, the rest of the world seems willing to sit idly by with regard to the continuing abuses in North Korea. The reality of human rights abuses in North Korea has already been established time and time again. Yet, no serious, collective efforts and action at the international level has yet to emerge from these discussions, reports and investigations. The very recent publication of a comprehensive report by the United Nations Commission of Inquiry on human rights in the Democratic People s Republic of Korea establishes credible evidence and knowledge of the situation in North Korea. With knowledge of the unparalleled conditions, the international community now has no excuse for its inaction. Although the global community faces many challenges such as issues of state sovereignty, it must remember the many human lives at stake and the fundamental right to ... • 35. Isis-Aphrodite Research Paper In 30 BCE, Egypt became a province of Rome. A devastating military defeat at the Battle of Actium caused the fall of Egypt s Pharaohs and on a larger scale, the rise of the Roman Empire. With any great changes in society come a massive change in expression, and the art of Roman Egypt is certainly a prime example. The artistic canons and subjects of Ancient Egypt that had lasted millennia suddenly change and are eventually replaced by Rome s. In this paper I will discuss the merging of the two cultures and artistic styles. Isis Aphrodite is an amalgam of two goddesses and two art styles. As her name implies she is a combination of Isis, the Egyptian goddess of motherhood, and Aphrodite, the Roman goddess of fertility, beauty and love. This combination makes her the ultimate mother goddess, representing both fertility and being a mother. She dates from the Roman Period, around 200 CE, and was made in Egypt. The piece stands at the respectable height of 19 ½ inches tall and 4 15/16 inches wide, and is made of white engobe, a type of slip with a little more filler than usual. The details are painted with brown, black, pink and red terracotta. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A similar work to Isis Aphrodite is the Statuette of Isis Fortuna. It is another mixture of Egyptian and Roman Goddesses from the second century, though this piece is actually from Rome. This sculpture is much smaller at only 4 3/16 inches and is made of bronze. It is also seen wearing a calathos with Isis s horn and disk symbol, though this one s crown is not nearly as exaggerated. Her dress features the Tyet on the front. She holds in her right hand the rudder that represents Fortuna s control over human lives, and a cornucopia of prosperity in her left. Fortuna is a Roman fertility goddess who controls the fates of individuals and cities. Because Fortuna is another fertility goddess along with Aphrodite, combining her with Isis seems ... • 36. Unusual Languages of the World Jenn Beckmann Part 1 2. Define pidgin and creole and explain the difference between them. Pidgins and creoles are both languages that occur when two people of different languages are communicating (p.232). In order to define a pidgin, it is important to look at the process in which a pidgin develops. When contact between speakers of two different languages occurs and they begin to create ways of communication through words and phrases, pre pidgin is developing. A pidgin develops as a new language when the original group or several groups of people begin using the pre pidgin to communicate as the common language. The pidgin is then being used as the lingua franca (p. 233). Depending on the use of the language, there is also a restricted pidgin and expanded pidgin. Restricted pidgin is only used when necessary for communication and typically has small vocabulary and little grammar. Expanded pidgin is a pidgin that is used everyday and in different entities such as religion or the government. This type of pidgin has an expanded vocabulary and grammar. On the other hand, a creole is a pidgin that children learn and use as their first language. With children learn the language as their first, it will expand to community usage. Gramatics are much more complex in a creole as is the vocabulary of the language (p.234). There are differences between a pidgin and creole that can be defined. A pidgin is spoken between people of different languages with less vocabulary and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He looked up to many philosophers as role models which reflected on his knowledge and education. Socrates taught many students and was able to pass down his knowledge on philosophy. Socrates told his students that the the unquestioned life is not worth living (Stockdale 1). He is saying that if a person does not question their life and is able to just live without questioning the society, then life is not worth living. This influenced Plato to question society and state his opinions through his writings. Socrates was mentioned in many of Plato s dialogues as the central character.
