Bond Note On Bond And Bond
After completing the table of bond valuations I noticed some definite trends. Consider the AAA
rated bond I chose in my valuation, yielding a 3.13% to maturity. As the remaining two bonds are
BB and CCC, both have noticeably high yield to maturity percentages. In my observation, As the
bond credit rating decreases, the yield to maturity percentage increases. The higher the yield, the
more likely it is that the firm issuing the bondis not of high quality.(High/low yield bonds, 2006)
Coupon rate and the yield to maturity determine trade at a discount, premium, par.
Pertaining to the bonds in my valuation, the coupon rates and yield to maturity is established in
such a way to influence bond perception. Premium sale of bonds are due to the coupon rate being
established above the prevailing interest rate. Investors bid up the price in order to receive the
benefit of a higher coupon rate. In a result, as the coupon rate attracts investors they are more
willing to pay a premium for the bond. Once the bond matures, the investor will have received the
stated coupon rate, but because of the increased initial payment for the bond the yield to maturity is
lower over the life of the bond (Premium bond, 2003).
Yield to maturity, market value of the bonds if the time to maturity was increased decreased by 5
years?
As a bonds time to maturity increases, so does its yield to maturity. This is due to the issuer having
the obligation to pay its coupon rates for an extended period of time.

Psychological And Sociological Factors Of Stress
Introduction
Stress is defined as any situation which tends to disturb the equilibrium between a living
organism and its environment 1. Equilibrium is restored through biological actions such as
hormone secretion which lead to physiological changes that prepare one for the fight or flight
response. As a junior doctor, Mark is exposed every day to many stressors such as death,
suffering and long hours. There are also many psychological and sociological factors in the work
environment which can further impact Mark s stress. It is therefore vitally important for new
junior doctors like Mark to be able to manage their stress and ask for help if they are unable to cope.

CRF is the main regulator of the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis and is secreted by the
paraventricular nucleus (PVN) of the hypothalamus4. It is released into the anterior posterior gland
where it binds to receptors on pituitary corticotropes which stimulate the release of ACTH. ACTH
mainly targets the adrenal cortex where it stimulates production of glucocorticoids5 by increasing
RNA, DNA and protein synthesis3.
The second wave is slower and involves steroid hormones, such as glucocorticoids2, more
specifically cortisol in humans5. Glucocorticoids bind to glucocorticoid receptors which are found
in the majority of tissues3. Thus they have a wide range of targets and actions, and so regulate
metabolic, cardiovascular, immune and behavioural processes2. One which is relevant to
responding to stress is the target of the adrenal medulla which when targeted increases PMNT
expression and activity which stimulates epinephrine synthesis3. Another important target is the
liver where the effect is an increased expression of gluconeogenic enzymes3 which helps to
increase metabolic activity. The heart is also a target where the effect is increased contractility3.
Acute stress can also lead to secretion of other hormones. Vasopressin, or antidiuretic hormone, is
rapidly released from the PVN of the hypothalamus1. Its role is to help

The Conflict Between Ethnic Entrepreneurs And Rwanda
In the 1900s, two large massacres occurred in different parts of the world leading the events to be
known as genocides. A genocide took place in Yugoslavia and Rwanda. The events that took place
in both countries lead to massive death for both the victimized and the oppressors. This essay
focuses on Yugoslavia from 1991 2001 and Rwandafrom April to May 1994. Although ethnic
entrepreneurs influence society in both countries on the base of cultural for political gain, ordinary
citizens carry out mass killing of their fellow countrymen and women. Ordinary citizens found
cultural and political reason influential due to the lack of national identity and unity. Before

Hutus would be given terrible land to farm, while Tutsis were given good land for grazing cattle.
From Hutus perspective, they felt discriminated against from Tutsis due to their ethnic counterpart
receiving many rewards from the village leaders. Political disadvantage for Hutus continued when

Tutsi Chieftains in charge of the country while they proceeded to take of advantage of the raw

Delegating Application Essay
Delegating is a personality trait that comes in handy when cooperating with others.
Consequently, by holding this trait, it is clear to understand that a few tasks require additional
opinions than just one in order to be executed. In addition, it is also used while problem solving,
at times when it is required to be open minded with everyone s points of views. As I grow up, I
aspire to maintain the characteristic of being a delegator, as well as maintain a balance
throughout the responsibilities that I take. On the other hand, there are a variety of people prefer
to not keep their tasks organized, working with these people can be almost impossible to succeed
with, and can lead to calamities. This assignment was possibly my most difficult to complete, not
due to the task itself, but by cause of it being a month long project that was to be completed by
three people, which I ended up doing myself. The day that I was given this assignment, the class
was assigned teammembers according to our... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

my work at home and all the other activities unlike some who do not prioritize their tasks and
easily give up. At about six in the morning, I received a text back from both women explaining to
me that they had not actually dropped the classes but that they had no time to complete their part
on times, they were too tired to do anything. Of course this is where my team members and I also
clashed in points of view. Work is work and there is no excuse to not taking obligations seriously.
Not only was this idea inconsiderate, but as well as put them at risk for failing the assignment, but

Incarnational Ministry Essay
The incarnational ministry approach to New Age adherents should reflect a servanthood mentality,
which is evident of Lausanne s paper. The foundational roots of the Lausanne Movement dates back
to the historical conference in Edinburg (1910) and Berlin (1966). The Lausanne Movement surface
under the leadership of the evangelist Billy Graham during the First International Congress World
Evangelization. The gathering of this movement continue to produce believers from different part
of the earth to bring about a united front under the function of the Holy
Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the one who guarantees God s redeeming work in the lives of believers.

The LOP noted the movement of the forum with a theme promoting a new vision, new heart, and

there is a reason for change. Therefore, LOP is parallel to the incarnation ministry of God.
Incarnation means that God the Son took on human nature that Jesus was God in human flesh,
which develop into a mission to reach God s people. Furthermore, the LOP adhere to the
different models serving a purpose to exalt the name of Jesus Christ drawing people to the
existence of God. Coincidently, LOP recognize certain apologetics models such as: personal
testimonies, spiritual welfare, and heresy rationalist were portrayed as fabricating the truth of
personal experience, practices, and beliefs, indicating a falsehood of ministry. God is not in the
business of falsehood, but silicifying disciples in the like manner of Jesus Christ into the world.
God s ministry has to be about truth at all times with a productive approach as a witness of Jesus

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Vesiphies
Therefore, based on the property of hydrophobic and hydrophilic parts which involves the
repelling and coordinating forces the amphiphiles are considered to be powerful building blocks
and they aggregate to form great molecular assemblies like micelles or vesicles. The properties and
structure of the assembly formed majorly depends on the structural design of the amphiphiles. For
example natural phospholipids consist of one hydrophilic head and two hydrophobic tails. When
they are diffused in to water they instinctively form bilayers.
Amphiphiles Aggregates
The amphiphiles coordinate themselves in the interface of water and air. As in the figure above, the
hydrophobic part is arranged within the cluster whereas the hydrophilic part is ... Show more

Bolaamphiphiles are also referred as edge amphiphiles , where one edge of a hydrophobic core
carries hydrophilic groups and the other edge is hydrophobic Bolaform amphiphiles have a
different type of aggregation at air water interface. Synthetic bolamphiphile form extended planar
monolayers on the surface of water. Multilayer is made when two bolaamphiphiles having two
cationic or two anionic head groups attach. This is also possible by the combination of an anionic
bolamphiphile and a cationic bolamphiphile. Bolamphiphile possessing long chains produce
vesicles for example in biological systems liposomes are formed whereas when bolaamphiphiles
possess short alkyl chains they give micelles.
The bolaform amphiphile is also less efficient than the conventional surfactants in lowering the
surface tension of water. The values obtained from surface area per surfactantgraphs suggest that
most of the bolaforms take up a looped conformation at the interface, with the polar groups
attached at the interface and alkyl chains forming a loop. It is also reported that the aggregation of
bolaform micelles increases with the ionic strength of solution and decreases when the head group
size is increased. The accumulation of micelles also increases with the increase in the number

The Tales Of Bath s Tale
The Canterbury Tales provides an array of tales, specifically two tales in which one better
provides the most meaning and delight compared to the other. The Wife of Bath s Prologue and
Tale represents the view and desires of women during that time period. The Pardoner s Prologue
and Tale describes the type of person the Pardoner is along with how money can be evil. In The
Canterbury Tales, The Pardoner s Tale, provides the most moral meaning compared to The Wife
of Bath s Tale by stating that greed can manipulate people into plotting unspeakable actions unto
each other. In the prologue of The Pardoner s Tale , he describes himself and he is also states that
he is a preacher who is only after money. He tells his audience that, By this guade have I wonne,
yeer by yeer, A hundred mark, sith I was pardoner (lines 101 02). A preacher is supposed to have
concern for the ones who have committed sins. The preacer is there to listen to the people and
repent them. He on the other does not care about the sins individuals have committed because he
is after their money only. Helping the sinned individuals does not motivate him: money does. He
even goes as far saying he does not care where his money and other beloved items come from, even
if it meant somebody died of starvation. This is shown in lines 160 63, I wol have moneye, wolle,

Argumentative Essay On Prions
Proteinaceous Infectious Particles, commonly known as Prions, are extremely rare misfolds of
the protein PrPc, which cause fatally neurodegenerative diseases, and are theorized to be
infectious only by the protein itself (U.S National Library of Medicine, 1998). This protein only
theory is still heavily debated today, as some scientists deny the theory, and there isn t a significant
amount of evidence on each side to qualify the theory or disprove it (Soto, C. 2011). The base Prion
protein is encoded in the gene PRNP, while being non infectious. Prions are most commonly found
in human prion diseases, but they can also be in other animals in the form of Mad Cow Disease
and Chronic Wasting Disease, classified as Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathies... Show more

In the early 1900 s, the Fore tribe was struck with an epidemic of Kuru, a brain eating disorder
that causes shaking, and furthermore the name Kuru in the means shaking or trembling in a
literal sense. The Fore spread this disease a fair bit, specifically due to their cannibalistic funeral
practices of eating the remains of the dead, and specifically the brain (Bichell, Rae Ellen 2016).
However, the presence of Prions have been around for eras, but the discovery in the Fore tribe
spearheaded the movement to learn more about them. Eventually in 1982, the Prion protein was
discovered by Stanley Prusiner, eventually earning him the Nobel Prize in 1997 for his proof of
the lack of DNA or RNA in the protein, juxtaposed to bacteria and viruses (Prion Alliance, 2016).
As the amount of diseases discovered increased, it became eerily known that the Prion disease in
humans and animals were all caused by one original misfolded protein, PrPsc. Despite a common
origin, pinning down a solution to the problems of Prions is an extremely complex issue. With an
extreme resistance to everything, Prions opens the question of sanitization in hospitals. If a doctor
were to be working with a Prion contaminated sample, the tools used may be thought to be
completely clean, yet Prions being highly resistant would persevere against normal

On one hand a group of historian argues the notion that Brazil and the Caribbean experienced a
sugar revolution while on the other hand another group argues that there was no such thing as a
sugar revolution, what Brazil and Caribbean experienced was simply a sugar boom. In order to
assess which group of historians is more accurate, one must first understand the concept of a sugar
revolution and what factors must be present in order for a sugar revolution to occur. The concept of
a sugar revolution is one that states there was a drastic change from the cultivation of tobacco to the
cultivating of sugar cane, changing the country`s economy, politics and social structure within a

When sugar cane was introduced those planters who owned small plots of land either had to sell
their land, merge their land with another planter and enter into a partnership or buy more land in
order to grow sugar cane. Sugar cane could only be grown on large plots of land which ranged from
150 acres to 500 acres in Barbados and in Jamaica 300 acres to 5000 acres. The type of labour also
changed within the Caribbean islands of Barbados, Jamaica, Nevis, Antigua and Montserrat from
free labour to slave labour. Tobacco cultivation required a very small labour force, but with sugar
as the new cash crop a large labour force was needed in which the Dutch provided by bringing
African slaves. Therefore the white populations of these countries declined while the black
populations increased due to the sugar revolution. Even though the governments of these Islands
made efforts to keep the black to white ratio ten to one, according to Greenwood, Robert, Hamber,
S, Dyde, Brian the ratio became extremely difficult to maintain during the years passed .
This population change occurred during the early years of the sugar revolution up to the mid
1700s. In Barbados there were 18 000 whites and 5 500 blacks in 1645 and by 1660 there were 20
000 whites and 30 000 blacks while Jamaica had 4 500 whites and 1 500 blacks in 1658 to 8 500

Alcohol And Violence In Townie By Andre Dubus
All towns, cities, and areas have their own specific traits. Small towns tend to be more like a
family, while big cities tend to be more passive. Then there are the small areas where people do
not make much money and struggle to get by. These areas tend to be more violent and more
influenced by drugs and alcohol. This is the area that Andre Dubus III grew up in, in his memoir
Townie. His parents were divorced and neither of them made much money so he and his two
sisters and brother ended up moving from one small crummy neighborhood to another. In these
neighborhoods he would get involved in the wrong crowds and end up doing drugs, drinking, and
fighting. This became a way to show power. The most powerful people were strong and always

thug named Clay had decided that he was going to target Andre and beat him every time that he

called his father. After that his father was able to talk to Clay s father and have Clay leave
Andre alone. After that negotiation Clay and his mother came running out of their house
screaming. This and the fact that Clay hired a friend to try and beat Andre instead of himself
showed Andre that the only way to settle anything in this environment was to use a fist.
Eventually Andre decided that he need learn how to fight. This came from a need to prove
himself. Not to anyone else, but to himself. He felt like he had let his family and himself down
and he needed to fix that. This came to him after he witnessed his brother brutally beaten in front
of him. He went inside and looked in the mirror and said to himself I don t care if you get your
face beat in. I don t care if you get kicked in the head or stabbed or even shot. I will never allow
you not fight back ever again. You hear me? Ever. Not once, ever, again, (Dubus 82). This was the
real turning point for Andre. This was when his self loathing had hit such a low that he had

The Hobbit s Major Accomplishments
In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit, this was the start to his rise in literature with many
best sellers and movies based on his bestselling books. He was won many awards for his work
including the International Fantasy Award for Fiction for the Lord of the Rings novel in 1957. He
was well known in the writing community for his achievements on the Lord of the Ringsas well as
in poetry. In order to comprehend Tolkien you must first analyze his early life, his works, and how
the world around him shaped his stories. Tolkien was a worldwide sensation to everyone who read

film ever to have won the Academy Award for best picture. This goes to prove the effect that his
writing had on the people around him, the detail that he had in each book gave the reader a clear
and effective picture into the world that he had created. Tolkien loved children he had created The
Hobbit for children, Tolkien once said Children are not a class. They are merely human beings at
different stages of maturity. (Biography.com) This shows his competition for children knowing
that they are not all they same and that they shouldn t be treated like a seperate class from the
adults. He was raised in a time when children were seen and not heard . He wanted children to be
apart of life and didn t think it was right for them to be treated like they were different. Because
his son showed the same amount of curiosity and wonder for the world he finished multiple parts
of the vast world that Tolkien created some of these works included The Silmarillion, and The
Children of Hurin . These works are prequels to the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, they give the
history of Middle Earth as it goes up to the point of the rings being made. At the end of his writing
career he says I wish i would never have wrote the books this is because he was always bombarded

Stereotypes In A Doll s House
A man standing in front of a tank in Tiananmen Square, a second plane crashing into the World
Trade center, a group of soldiers raising the American flag at Iwo Jima, all have one thing in
common, they are all recognizable images captured in time through photography. Photography has
challenged what was achievable numerous times, and now it is one of the greatest influential
mediums of the modern society. Photographyhas advanced tremendously over time. At the
beginning a person needed to stay still for several minutes for a colorless black and white image.
Moving was never allowed permitted, for it would distort the image and result in it bury.
Eventually, it would advance so that with only one flash, a person could see an image of that
time. But still, it was black and white and, if a person moved, the image would come out blurry.
Over time, the fluidity of what a camera can do and can now accomplish, have changed. This is
tantamount to how challenges to uprooting the traditional the roles of women have led to changes
and advancements in modern time. Henrik Ibsen s 1879 play, A Doll s House, leads the reader to

Reflective Essay On The Spectator Reflection
That just happens to be the title of the Spectator reflection I wrote in the aftermath of the Halloween
terrorist attack.
I had never thought that something I read in the news would so personally affect my life. Before,
the media was a layer that shielded me from the true horrors of terrorism. My mom s voice always
weakened when she talked about 9/11, but the sympathy and sadness I felt towards that event was
indirect and a result of society s impression of that tragic day.
Now, terrorism no longer hides behind the screen of my phone, or between the words of a New
York Times article. I saw the instrument of terror crash into an innocent school bus, I ve felt the
sheer panic that resulted from not knowing what s happening, and most importantly, I ve
experienced the sheer impact that a random act of terror can wreak on one s body both physically
and mentally.
I ll never forget the English classes we had on the days after the attack. Helicopters made an
ominous droning noise that permeated the entire room, my best friend was in tears, and I was on
the verge of a nervous breakdown. Who the fuck cared about Ragtime? The book was a
commentary on the past a simpler past that seemed enticing in the wake of the emotional trauma I
experienced on that day and nothing more. The gravity of the event I saw happen 50 feet in front
of me loomed over all my thoughts.

partaking in the pilgrimage embark as one person and come back another. For some it is the
journey that is the feat rather than the destination, however for most the destination of the
pilgrimage is holy or sacred and the destination is just the beginning of what the pilgrimage is
about. Pilgrims come from all over to see the holy site and will perform many tasks and actions to
reach a state of enlightenment. The Islamic faith practices the pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia,
this is called the Hajj. The Pilgrimage to Mecca is one of the five pillars of Islam. The four other
pillars include Shahadah, Salah, Zakat and Sawm. Shahadah means profession of faith, Muslims
must recite the creed There is no God but God and Muhammadis the Messenger of God. (Zahid)
These words show their devout acceptance and solidifies their commitment to the religion. The
second pillar, Salah, is all about prayer. The Islamic faith requires prayer daily and the number of
times is based on your affiliation with either the Shi a or the Sunni. Almsgiving, or the giving of
gifts or money, is the third pillar and is called Zakat. Sawm is the fasting ritual muslims practice.
This is done in the month of Ramadan and is an expression of self restraint. The Qur an states O
you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed to those before you that you

A Patriarchal View Of Fetishism
Freud presents a patriarchal view of fetishism, in a way that demonizes female genitalia and
presents it as not only inferior but harmful to the male psyche. In Freud s paper Fetishism (1927)
he attempts to persuade physicians and laypeople alike of the purpose and origin of fetishism.
Freud uses his experience as a physician to convince the reader of the relationship between
castrationanxiety and sexual abnormalities. He acknowledges that fetishes are often pleasurable or
satisfying and it is, therefore, treated as a less important but relationally significant issue. No matter
the varying spectrum of fetishes Freud concludes that they all lead back to trauma and the fear of
losing the male phallus. Freud essentially argues that fetishism... Show more content on

with their own cognitive dissidence. Essentially their mother s penis is gone; it has been taken away
and it is visibly evident. However, to acknowledge a mother s missing penis endangers their

introduction of this jarring information the male instead chooses to believe the phallus remains
but in a different way, resolving the cognitive dissonance and resulting in a fetish. In fraud s
explanation, the female phallus is almost like a toy or favorite blanket a child refuses to give up.
Just as the blanket protects a child from the horrors of the dark, a fetish insulates a male s ego or
perception of reality, to allow them to continue functioning normally and sexually. Freud s entire
argument centers on castration anxiety and discounts other aspects of sex and sexuality (desire,
homosexuality as natural). According to Freud, fetishism essential develops out of cognitive
dissonance and the need to reconcile two opposing views on the female phallus. The confrontation
of female genitalia and the trauma imposed on the male psyche because of this event seem overly
exaggerated. Freud is fundamentally stating that fetishism is a sexual abnormality caused by the
exposure to female genitals or rather the lack of outwardly exposed genitals. It is also this sole

Production of an Artificial Knee Joint
Production of an artificial knee joint begins with investment casting, a process that involves
little to no shearing. Investment casting produces products that have good surface quality and
high spatial accuracy. It is advantageous for parts with more complex shapes or materials that are
difficult to form. This method involves seven steps and results in the preliminary shapes of the
femoral and tibial parts. 1. Wax Pattern Production Wax patterns function to shape the cavity
within the mold. Though it is called a wax pattern, the pattern may also include materials such as
wax, stearic acid, plastic and other industrial chemicals [3]. There are two ways to produce a
wax pattern. For both, a wax cylinder is first taken from heat preservation equipment and placed
on a hydraulic die casting machine to remove any air or geocerite from the wax. In one process,
the wax is then poured into the mold and swirled around until the inner surface is covered with an
even coating. This is repeated until an appropriate thickness is reached. The second method is to
pressure inject the liquid wax into an aluminum mold. The mold is then turned upside down so
the liquid wax is removed and the remaining wax layer is left to cool and harden. 2. Wax Pattern
Assembly In order to improve productivity, workers usually assemble multiple patterns on a holder
made of wax. They are held together with melted wax, producing a pattern tree so that many wax
patterns can be made at once. Patterns with

CARTS Analysis Paper
In order to select the best ideas generated through our collective brainstorm, the group conducted a
detailed CARTS analysis. CARTS is an acronym that stands for Cost, Acceptance, Resources, Time
and Space. Each one the criteria were used to determine the best course of action to get us from the
problem to the solution. The C represents cost; we determined that there were little restrictions
because the components of our solution would not require technologies and materials that we do
not currently possess. Next, we considered the A which stand for acceptance. Every teammember s
ideas benefitted the process, and most of our initial ideas did fit well in the overall workflow of
the major solution. However, we did not agree that creating a time matrix was worth our time
and resources, so we left that one out. The R in the CARTS analysis stands for resources. It has
been determined that the budget, people, skills and other materials needed to make our plan
work is in place. Next, we considered the time and space, the T and the S needed to implement
our plan. Since the scope of our problem is not suspended, the time factor is not really a constraint
for us. The actions step for our solution is skills driven and therefore the execution of our solution
will become more and more effective as it is continuously used. Space, which is the final step in
the analysis, is also not a deterrent from the actions steps of our solution.... Show more content on

Importance Of Gladiators
Historically, gladiator battles were a very complicated issue. This is because most people think that
the gladiator battles were completely fair. However they weren t. This topic is misguided because
no one thinks about how the gladiators were chosen, the equipment they used, and finally how the
audience influenced whether they died or not.
Gladiator battles were unfair because the gladiators didn t have a choice. When gladiator battles
started, the people that were the gladiators were either slaves or prisoners of a war. And because
they were slaves or prisoners, they didn t have a choice if they wanted to be a gladiator or not.

According to Hope Babowice, the author of dailyherald.com, Around five thousand gladiators died
each year during the Roman empire which lasted till the 5th century. If you do the math, that is
two million five hundred thousand people that died in gladiator battles. The last thing that was
unfair about the equipment is that when an emperor fought against a gladiator, he would weaken
him. He did this by either taking away almost all of his armor, or he would give the gladiator a
wooden sword while the emperor was able to use a steel sword. This shows me that the equipment
that the gladiators used was unfair.
Finally, the last thing that was unfair was how the audience influenced if the gladiators lived or
died. The reason why I say this is because sometimes the audience could choose if the gladiators
would die. The way they would do this is by giving a thumbs up or a thumbs down. What a thumbs
up means is that it was a excellent fight, and they spare the losing gladiator s life. But that usually
wasn t the case. They most likely would give a thumbs down, and that meant that the winning
gladiator would strike his opponent with a sword. They did this because the audience found it
entertaining. Also, according to history.com they said that the audience was unfair to the gladiators,
because they yell things like burn him, or flog him, which also influenced whether the gladiators
would die or not. Even if the gladiators fought a great

Campus Shootings Essay
College Campuses in the Line of Sight
We all hear about mass shooting where a number of people are killed and we pray that we are
never caught in a situation like the one at Virginia Tech or Oikos University. But the likelihood
that it happens at your school, your kids school, or your friends school is at an all time high.
From 2000 to 2010 nearly 70 people were killed in college campus shootings in the United States.
This number more than doubles the number of killing from the 25 years prior to 2000. Not only
are their more shooting but there are a proliferating number of sexual assaults happening on
college campuses, in 2009 alone the number of sexual assault on college campuses was nearly
2,600 (Arrigo 120). This combined with mass media coverage has generated passionate debates on
how to best stop mass shootings and other violent crimes on college campuses. Many pro gun
activists have started to push for and endorse bills allowing students and faculty to conceal carry
handguns on campuses. Campus carry is a relatively new phenomenon and there is little to no
evidence to corroborate the idea that it increases campus security. Those who have not gone through
rigorous instructional courses, like police officers, will be unable to stop a mass shooting, sexual
assaults, or other violent crimes on college campuses. Instead, allowing students to carry will
increase crime rates on campuses and will result in more fatalities due to guns(Ultius). This is why

The Relation Between Prostitution and Human Trafficking Essay
Although the world is made up of a variety of people, every person is entitled to basic rights.
According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, all human beings are born free and
equal. These rights apply to everyone throughout the world regardless of gender, race, religion,
sexual orientation, or age. However, although we are born with these rights, there have been many
cases throughout the world where people s human rights have been violated.
The analysis of this essay will focus on the sexual exploitation of women through trafficking and
prostitution within Ireland, the Netherlands, and the United States of America. In 2006 it has been

Ireland is familiar with prostitution. During the nineteenth century, in well known populated cities,
prostitution was apparent. According to William Logan, a mission worker visiting Ireland
claimed that the city of Cork had approximately eighty five brothels, which contained about 356
prostitutes collectively in the year of 1945. Logan also mentioned how young girls were sold by
family members for money. In 1870 the Garda (Ireland s police officials) instigated 11,864 women
because they were assumed to be prostitutes. During the 1800 s Magdalene asylums were also very
common. In Dublin specifically there were at least eleven workhouses, similar to the Magdalene
asylums, attempting to transform prostitutes into proper ladies (Luddy, 1997). The Dublin
Metropolitan Police (DMP) was not proactive during this time either. The DMP were only involved
in prostitution cases if it disrupted the public. The lack of government control over this issue is one
of the main influences that made human trafficking easily available in Ireland. However, it is
difficult to obtain research of trafficking. Before 2008, there have been no prosecuted cases on this
issue in Ireland (Coghlan and Wylie, 2011).

Public School Vs. Home Schooling System
In society, people have their own techniques of teaching and learning. Parents have their own
preference on whether they want their children in a public school or home schooling system. They
have to look at the advantages and disadvantages that come with making the right choice for their
child s education. Being home schooled, does not give the child the ability to be around new
people. Some parents cannot afford for their child to be home schooled, and choose to have them
enrolled in public school. Having students in a public school has a better learning aspect and more
affordable.
Parents have to look at the optimistic choices that come out of their child attending a Public
school. Public school is a place for students to interact and communicate with their peers.
Students learn how to act with their friends, either in a negative or positive manner. They have
to learn to associate with a diverse culture of people. Children have to understand different
personalities because everyone is not the same. Parents have to be willing to let a child go out
and find their personality and some freedom. A public school offers advanced learning and skills
for children of all ages and disabilities. Public school allows students to have full attention and
extra help from their teacher. Especially if the child is having problems at home, they have another
adult person they can look to for help. They are given counselors that are specialized to assist
students with their difficulty either

Examples Of Literary Devices In The Black Cat
Literary Devices Essay
Have you ever wanted to pick apart a piece of writing the way one might pick off the toppings of
a pizza? I see literary devices as the toppings and the dough is the good writing. Literary devices
refer to the typical structures used by writers in their works to convey his or her message in a
simple manner to his or her readers. When employed properly, the different literary devices help
readers to appreciate, interpret and analyze a literary work. , and by developing a strong
understanding of what they are and how they function, one can increase their enjoyment of the
writing.
Connotation refers to a meaning that is implied by a word apart from the thing which it describes
explicitly. One work I have seen it in is The Black Cat . In this work, connotation has been used
negative common seen as bad luck in many cultures. Throughout The Black Cat connotation
appears quite a few times, one that I found interesting was when he had found a new cat, the cat
had white fur around its neck, Poe states that the fur starts to turn into the form of the gallows
which is what Poe had used to hang the old cat. The cat is a sign of connotation as bad luck.
Imagery is the use of figurative language to represent objects, actions, and ideas in such a way
that it appeals to our physical senses. In The Black Cat , Poe uses words and phrases to create
mental images for the reader, imagery helps the reader to visualize and see it more realistically. For

I used 3 plastic zip lock bag, 3 paper towels, 30 seeds, and black marker. I wet each paper towel
then folded and put into each bag then placed 10 each seeds in a row in 3 separate plastic bags
and sealed shut. I then wrote in black marker the location of each bag and placed them in that area.
Results
Appears that the beans in the dining room bag had the most germination and growth followed by
my garage and the outside bag having the least amount of germination to none at all.

gender, sexual preferences, and age each time she mentions interviewees. Most of the intersectional
friendships involve a gay man and straight woman; however, she makes a great effort to interview

She then identifies the importance of friendships in general and how these bonds are formed. There
is discussion of same sex, heterosexual friendships and same sex, same orientation friendships.
These topics were the precursor of delving into the discussion of intersectional friendships and how
Muraco conducted this study. According to the author, intersectional friendships challenge a variety
of social norms. Previous research shows that straight people who are in contact with gay men and
lesbians have a favorable attitude towards them; this favorable attitude is meant as in acceptance,
not tolerance. Furthermore, most of the dyad friendships interviewed were very close friends, if not
best friends. In multiple cases, the gay man was often incorporated into the straight woman s family.
The straight women offer to be a surrogate mother before they themselves are married and trying for
children of her own. On the contrary, Muraco further explains the stereotype that all gay couples
want children. Another way that these friendships are beneficial to the individual is that they
provide great financial support for each other, which is usually a familial function. The media tends
to depict these intersectional friendships generally as gay men and straight women that are the best
of friends who go shopping and clubbing together. Though this gender norm was common within
the study, there are still other friendships that are regularly overlooked. The

Best Practices Of Managing Virtual Software Development Teams
Best practices in Managing Virtual Software Development Teams.
Introduction to Virtual Software Teams.
In this hard and fast run of Technology, handling software s efficiently in a defined area with
limited resources is a toughest challenge for any industry. Hence, virtual team emerged out as a
solution. The term virtual was driven out by the virtue in the 14th century but by 1950 s its
meaning extended to temporarily available or created or created by computer software . This gave
the actual definition of virtual teams as any project team in which the team members are
geographically dispersed and use technology to communicate or complete their goals . The trivial
way of handling teams contained many constraints and difficulties such as:
a.Geographic dispersion (occurring due to different geographical locations)
b.Temporal dispersion(Time difference in different time zones)
c.Cultural dispersion(Different languages )
d.Organizational dispersion(Different work ethics) Best practices in Managing Virtual Software
Development Teams:
Software development teams are always encouraged for healthy communication such as stand up
meetings, conferences and demo (if done according to agile) .but the toughest part is of the scrum

Women in Movies Since the 1940 s, movies have predominately portrayed women as sex symbols.
Beginning in the 1940 s and continuing though the 1980 s, women did not have major roles in

Roman architecture was responsible for developing many...
Roman architecture was responsible for developing many different building styles and techniques
and the creation of various new ones. Ancient Rome expanded quickly from a small town (founded
in 753bc) situated on the Tiber River, to an empire with one fifth of the world s population under
its control. This displayed the strength that they possessed, and the control of many different
cultures led to the acquisition of a range of typologies. The result of the architectural influence of
other nations (mainly the Greeks and the Etruscans) led to many great masterpieces of art and
building design. The Romans took many pre existing ideals and developed them into new
technologies and ways of living; architecture is just one of these developments.... Show more

The Greeks started building corbelled arches and creating arch shaped voussoirs. These worked
well, however, they did not discover the strength or span the distances that the Romans were able
to. The widest known Greek archway spans only 7.35m, whereas the Romans built many great
triumphal arches to emphasise their power in victory. Marcus VitruviusPollio wrote about the
qualities a successful arch should entail, these were: utility, strength and aesthetics (Vitruvius, M.,
1914). He wanted them to be built according to anthropometrics; symmetry and proportions of the
human body. The full potential of the arch was reached when the Romans discovered the
impressive compressive strength of the arch, meaning that they could span greater distances and
create great heights using these new found qualities. Some of the most notable uses of the arch can
be seen through Aqueducts, vast interiors and in, potentially, the most famous arched building; the
Roman Colosseum.
The Roman Colosseum is a four story tall amphitheatre which was able to seat up to 50,000
spectators. The first three stories contained stone benches and the top gallery was created with
wooden bleachers for women, children and people of lower classes. In this instance, the Roman use
of the arch was a major transformation from its prior use by the Greeks, allowing them to create
visually stunning and solidly constructed masterpieces. This was

Music Education In Music
The stigma associated with pursuing an education in the musical arts affects the decision of many
musicians nationwide. The appeal of guaranteed financial and career stability of STEM and other
paths of high demand jobs is very difficult to pass up, even by the most dedicated musicians. Then,
the input and advice of outsiders come into play. These onlookers not only encourage study of the
hard sciences and a foolproof path to success via university, but they also totally and blatantly
discourage and belittle the intelligence, rationality and integrity of not just the paths of musicians,
but all liberal artists. Don t you want to make money? What do you mean you won t have
internships, don t you want a job? How are you going to survive? This blitzkrieg of questioning and
doubt, though theoretically peripheral to the bigger picture, is reasonably common, however,
severely unjustified. Pursuing a formal college education in musicis easily one of the best things
you could do for yourself, regardless of whether or not this is the career path of your choosing.
As a student of formal music education, you are actually being trained in more real world skills
than most other majors, which will prepare you for many careers, making you stand out amongst
the masses. Being a music major, you learn more than just music, you learn problem solving
skills, how to communicate and collaborate, and how to overcome failure, which are all essential
skills to have as a professional in today s day

Gender Stereotypes In Parkchester
The South Bronx is an area filled with rich culture and unique qualities. For the past 50 years, it has
seen many changes from the shift in ethnicity to the rapid growth in the immigrant population.
Commonly known as the Boogie Down , the South Bronx has had its reputation for being the
birthplace of hip hop. With the widespread increase of Blacks and Hispanics in the community, the
South Bronx has moved from Blacks being the minority of Whites being the minority. This ethic is
due to numerous factors that will discuss, in order to see why people have chosen to make in and
out of the South Bronx neighborhood of Parkchester. A census conducted throughout the past years

Many of the public schools in the South Bronx are witnessing failing results. Failing schools are
a result lack of security. For example, a few years back when I was a high school. My high
school located in the South Bronx given all the necessary resources, but failed to provide
security. As a result, student brought guns, weapons and sold illegal drugs inside of the school
s compound. In relation, to the twentieth century, schools were safer, and the need for security
was of less importance. Parks and recreational centers today are being used less by the people of
the community. The keys to the parks in Parkchester are given to residents located closer to the
park. The opening and closing of the parks depend primarily on the key holder, which is the
difference from the past, where everyone was allow coming freely. The reasoning behind not
allowing free access to public places is to make it safer. In an effort to make it safer, it is perhaps
more dangerous with the illegal entering of criminals, which utilizes the areas as hideout

My Experience With My Grandfather
My Grandfather s Lessons I remember when I was young, I loved fishing with my Grandfather
because he was an amazing man who always cared for his family. It was one of the most exciting
things I did as a kid because I felt like I was bonding with my grandfather. He was always fun to
be around when he made jokes, played around, and taught me life lessons. Reeling in fishes was
an accomplishment for me and my grandfather even if it was just one, we found it as if we did
something great together. I remember sitting in the boat with him one Saturday morning as we
were waiting to catch a fish. The weather was chilly 55 degrees as I recall. He was wearing his
same old fishing gear [black rain boots with old 49ers hat and a white tee shirt with dark blue
pants]. The sun was barely rising and I felt amazing, the scenery was beautiful I could see the
orange/redness light of the sun rising. The boat was an old boat, but I could tell because of the
green fading away on both sides, wasn t to big ether just enough to fit 3 adults and the motor
looked as if it was worn out. When I was there I didn t understand why the fishes weren t biting, I
was contemplating if the worms were good. As the time passed me and my grandfather didn t
say much, I felt odd by it because we usually spoke, but this time I could feel it was different. I
could not understand why he was so quiet, and as I was about to speak my grandfather told me
Bryan as you get older there s morals you must stick with , I

Busby Berkeley
Introduction
The title The Greatest Choreographer in United States Film History is only fit for the man who
remains legendary for his innovative redirection of dance through the camera lens. This newly
famous and wildy popular style of the early 1900 s was created by Busby Berkeley. Berkeley
changed how audiences view styles of vernacular jazz dance by adding his own twist of filming
with a single camera in unique angles. It may sound like an obvious and indifferent technique to
regular dance films on paper, but through the eyes it s clear Busby captures breathtaking shots of
patterns through movements. Busby Berkeley s success is derived from his hard working
background in his early years. From being raised by two performers to overlooking ... Show more

Post WWI, Berkeley found himself struggling with depression and then ultimately alcoholism, as
many others did in this time as well. The music industry during the Great Depression provided
audiences an outlet of to a more upbeat and spontaneous lifestyle. Using desirable themes like sex,
women, and money repeatedly in films caught attention quickly these were the things people craved
during this depression and ultimately made Berkeley a rocketing success. Contrary to that note,
Berkeley often took his alcoholism too far. Unfortunately on one account he was charged with
second degree manslaughter for driving under the influence in 1935. In this tragic accident,

Personal Statement of Engineering Management
Personal Statement I fought my first fight with my family and won the battle. The monthlong
controversy, as to whether I should compromise with the prevailing notion and make a specialty
of some hot study programmes such as finance, economics, management, laws, computer
engineering and the like, or I should follow the voice deep in my heart to choose what I am
really interested in, was over, and I got my way. My parents, like any other conscientious parents
in China, had long been harboring an aspiration that I could one day become an outstanding elitist,
occupying some kind of well paid genteel position, being respected and even envied. So, when I

couldn t find it in any perfect life unless you are interested in it. What was I interested in then?
Well, I am not an ambitious girl who will try everything she can to make a fame of her own. I am
sort of quiet, patient, sentient and amiable. I value life itself and genuine emotions the most.
That does not mean that I d rather lead a mediocre life and that I do not want to work hard and to

Lots of money and a genteel life do not represent the exact success I want. To me, success means

We are in a mist of depression, both economically and emotionally. Even though the government
can t make a stance in this economic crisis, we won t recover because of unemployment, gas
prices, funding for housing, human development, and health care for the aging and disabled.
Unemployment has increased to an all time high in the year of 2011. The government is at a
constant battle with each other, while we as Americans are in a struggle to survive. It has been

The Economic Downfall7 Health care is an endless issue that we are facing. Health care is needed
to prevent, treat and manage illnesses. But, managing the United States economically makes it hard
for funding of our health care. There are many advantages to our health care system. Having
Medicare or Medicaid helps fund our individual medical costs. Both of these insurances are funded
through our government for every individual that cannot afford to pay for health care for

emergency room, having to visit specialty physicians, hospitalizations and treatments. It was
reported that in 2008 the U.S spent $2.3 trillion in health care cost.

The Pros And Cons Of Zygomatic Dental Implants
Dr. Irfan Atcha is offering an innovative procedure one that does not involve bone transplants to end
the struggles of chronic denture patients. The procedure, which utilizes Zygomatic dental implants,
will provide new teeth to patients who could not wear implant supported teeth on their upper jaw
due to the lack of supportive bone. According to Dr. Atcha, these new alternatives allow him to
fabricate either a removable or fixed implant supported set of teeth.
Treating the completely edentulous upper jaw with fixed implant supported teeth has always been
difficult, especially if it is suffering from moderate to severe bone loss. One procedure that has
long been available is the use of bone transplant or bone grafting, usually from the patient s skull,
hip, jaw or skin, to supply the missing bone in the upper jaw. Because this requires a second ...

According to Dr. Atcha, many patients who suffer from the loss of teeth have to struggle with
wearing removable denture prosthesis, which sometimes causes difficulty with speech and
chewing. Unlike removable denture prosthesis, however, Zygomatic dental implants appear and
function like the patient s prior dentition.
Aside from the shorter duration of the treatment, the Zygomatic implant technique also has a
success rate of 97% after five years, according to scientific studies. Dr. Atcha recommends this
procedure to patients, especially those who are dissatisfied with their upper removable denture,
since this will give them the opportunity to experience the biomechanics of their natural teeth again.
Additionally, it will provide them with a proper biting force for chewing.
Dr. Atcha maintains a few private dental practice businesses, including Dyer Family Dentistry, New

Leibniz and the Problem of Evil
LEIBNIZ S CONCEPTION OF THE PROBLEM OF EVIL BY OKOJIE E. PETER
epo4escriva@yahoo.com MAY 2013 INTRODUCTION For many centuries, philosophers have
been discussing evil, how it exists in the world, and how this relates to God. The discussion on
evil and its relations to us is not an easy one though. It is commonly called the problem of evil. The
problem of evil in contemporary philosophyis generally regarded as an argument for atheism. The
atheist contends that Godand evil are incompatible, and given that evil clearly exists, God cannot
exist. The problem is generally used to disprove God s existence by showing an inconsistency
between an all powerful, all good, and all knowing God; and the existence of evil. Philosophers

These passions, like great winds, have blown me hither and thither, in a wayward course, over a
deep ocean of anguish, reaching to the very verge of despair. Love and knowledge, so far as
they were possible, led upward toward the heavens. But always pity brought me back to earth.
Echoes of cries of pain reverberate in my heart. Children in famine, victims tortured by
oppressors, helpless old people a hated burden to their sons, and the whole world of loneliness,
poverty, and pain make a mockery of what human life should be. I long to alleviate the evil, but I
cannot, and I too suffer.3 The Greek philosopher Epicurus is most likely the first recognized
philosopher to ask how the existence of evil could be compatible with the nature of God (The
Wrath of God 13).4 According to Epicurean philosophy, the notions of good and evil are
identified with pleasure and pain respectively. The Epicurean claim is that only pleasure is
good. Accordingly, this translates into pursue pleasure (good) and avoid pain (evil). 5 David
Hume in Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion says of Epicurus: Epicurus old questions are
yet unanswered. Is he (God) willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is impotent. Is he able,
but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Whence then is evil? 6 Even

Persuasion Is An Act Or Process Of Appealing
According to McLean (2010), persuasion is an act or process of appealing to reason or presenting
arguments to induce your audience to do something or to change their beliefs or values. Motivation,
on the other hand, is the force or stimulus to influence your audience to consider your arguments
and adopt your position (McLean, 2010). In short, persuasionis the process and motivation is the
stimulus to bring about the change. For example, when you want to pitch a sale, persuasion
involves presenting good features associated with the products, potential profit, offering good

Moving on, the users of the principle of commitment and consistency prevails their audiences that
they will embrace and honor their word or promises made. If you have rented a room, apartment or

The principle of consensus employs the tendency of people follow the path of herd mentality.
This is how sellers on the online retailers like Amazon and Ebay.com find potential customers. If
their customer feedback system is flooded with positive testimonials or experiences from their

if we feel safe.

What Are The Forces Within America That Have Shaped Our...
HCAD 730: W 3 Forum Five Questions Suggested Responses. 1. What are the forces within
America that have shaped our health care system? Many forces shape our current healthcare
system. Our cultural belief and values shape our views on our social, political, and economic
exigencies. While our beliefs and values usually represent basic or core impressions of individuals
in our society, they are constantly changing. Thus, they lend a sense of dynamism to our health
care system. Our cultural beliefs and values also impact our sense of ethics, which also influences
how we allocate our health resources and our sense of social justice, or lack of it. And although
ACA represents a major reform the American health care system, history will tell us whether it
survives after the next election cycles. Many of the forces in American health care that affected its
evolution in the past are present today. Advances in medical science and technology still have force
and effect on how our health care system has and will evolve over time. We have a technologically
driven health care system. Our educational system shapes our health care system through its
training methods and emphasis on the medical model. Depending on the discipline, training may
key on treating rather than preventing disease. This generates demand for service delivery. Training
of new physicians takes time and money. Because the costs for a medical education are significant,
many students seek postgraduate training in a

In Cold Blood Reflection Paper The novel In Cold Blood by Truman Capote is truly a very
intriguing piece of literature. Based on a true story, the events of the novel follow the homicide of
a loving family who are brutally murdered in a single night and tensions within the community rise
as the real culprits are being searched for. Now the plot of the story isn t what makes this an

When he describes the Clutter family the mood is happy and joyful and his tone is almost like
he is over praising them as a family. This is because the Clutter family was seen as a perfect
family that had nothing wrong with ait and everyone got along with very well. Now for the two
culprits it was different. The tone and mood he used seemed to be pretty personal to both
characters, as if they had more to them than what appears. This is what started to get me excited. I
believed that their backstory had something to do with the Clutter family. One of the Culprits, Perry
Smith, was in prison before the events in the movie. Perhaps the Clutter family put him there for
crashing a plane on their property of something, I didn t know. Moving on to the events of the
story, the tone and mood also had a similar effect as well. When the two culprits were on their way
to holcomb, they stopped by many places to pick up some supplies. They pick up things like a
rope and black stockings. Those two were used in the crime but the way Capote describes it just
had me thinking. Perry said in a casual tone, You got any black stockings. Capote also said Next
they were interested in rope. Now these two quotes make almost no sense without context but the
context surrounding these two quotes is unusual. The tone used around them is very subtle as if
what they were doing was not gonna end up in the murder of a family. They go around picking
these murder supplies but Capote s

  • 2. Bond Note On Bond And Bond After completing the table of bond valuations I noticed some definite trends. Consider the AAA rated bond I chose in my valuation, yielding a 3.13% to maturity. As the remaining two bonds are BB and CCC, both have noticeably high yield to maturity percentages. In my observation, As the bond credit rating decreases, the yield to maturity percentage increases. The higher the yield, the more likely it is that the firm issuing the bondis not of high quality.(High/low yield bonds, 2006) Coupon rate and the yield to maturity determine trade at a discount, premium, par. Pertaining to the bonds in my valuation, the coupon rates and yield to maturity is established in such a way to influence bond perception. Premium sale of bonds are due to the coupon rate being established above the prevailing interest rate. Investors bid up the price in order to receive the benefit of a higher coupon rate. In a result, as the coupon rate attracts investors they are more willing to pay a premium for the bond. Once the bond matures, the investor will have received the stated coupon rate, but because of the increased initial payment for the bond the yield to maturity is lower over the life of the bond (Premium bond, 2003). Yield to maturity, market value of the bonds if the time to maturity was increased decreased by 5 years? As a bonds time to maturity increases, so does its yield to maturity. This is due to the issuer having the obligation to pay its coupon rates for an extended period of time. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

CRF is the main regulator of the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis and is secreted by the paraventricular nucleus (PVN) of the hypothalamus4. It is released into the anterior posterior gland where it binds to receptors on pituitary corticotropes which stimulate the release of ACTH. ACTH mainly targets the adrenal cortex where it stimulates production of glucocorticoids5 by increasing RNA, DNA and protein synthesis3. The second wave is slower and involves steroid hormones, such as glucocorticoids2, more specifically cortisol in humans5. Glucocorticoids bind to glucocorticoid receptors which are found in the majority of tissues3. Thus they have a wide range of targets and actions, and so regulate metabolic, cardiovascular, immune and behavioural processes2. One which is relevant to responding to stress is the target of the adrenal medulla which when targeted increases PMNT expression and activity which stimulates epinephrine synthesis3. Another important target is the liver where the effect is an increased expression of gluconeogenic enzymes3 which helps to increase metabolic activity. The heart is also a target where the effect is increased contractility3. Acute stress can also lead to secretion of other hormones. Vasopressin, or antidiuretic hormone, is rapidly released from the PVN of the hypothalamus1. Its role is to help ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Consequently, by holding this trait, it is clear to understand that a few tasks require additional opinions than just one in order to be executed. In addition, it is also used while problem solving, at times when it is required to be open minded with everyone s points of views. As I grow up, I aspire to maintain the characteristic of being a delegator, as well as maintain a balance throughout the responsibilities that I take. On the other hand, there are a variety of people prefer to not keep their tasks organized, working with these people can be almost impossible to succeed with, and can lead to calamities. This assignment was possibly my most difficult to complete, not due to the task itself, but by cause of it being a month long project that was to be completed by three people, which I ended up doing myself. Incarnation means that God the Son took on human nature that Jesus was God in human flesh, which develop into a mission to reach God s people. Furthermore, the LOP adhere to the different models serving a purpose to exalt the name of Jesus Christ drawing people to the existence of God. Coincidently, LOP recognize certain apologetics models such as: personal testimonies, spiritual welfare, and heresy rationalist were portrayed as fabricating the truth of personal experience, practices, and beliefs, indicating a falsehood of ministry. God is not in the business of falsehood, but silicifying disciples in the like manner of Jesus Christ into the world. • 10. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Vesiphies Therefore, based on the property of hydrophobic and hydrophilic parts which involves the repelling and coordinating forces the amphiphiles are considered to be powerful building blocks and they aggregate to form great molecular assemblies like micelles or vesicles. The properties and structure of the assembly formed majorly depends on the structural design of the amphiphiles. For example natural phospholipids consist of one hydrophilic head and two hydrophobic tails. When they are diffused in to water they instinctively form bilayers. Amphiphiles Aggregates The amphiphiles coordinate themselves in the interface of water and air. In other words, bolaform amphiphiles are covalently bonded the hydrophobic chain ends. Bolaamphiphiles are also referred as edge amphiphiles , where one edge of a hydrophobic core carries hydrophilic groups and the other edge is hydrophobic Bolaform amphiphiles have a different type of aggregation at air water interface. Synthetic bolamphiphile form extended planar monolayers on the surface of water. Multilayer is made when two bolaamphiphiles having two cationic or two anionic head groups attach. This is also possible by the combination of an anionic bolamphiphile and a cationic bolamphiphile. Bolamphiphile possessing long chains produce vesicles for example in biological systems liposomes are formed whereas when bolaamphiphiles possess short alkyl chains they give micelles. The bolaform amphiphile is also less efficient than the conventional surfactants in lowering the surface tension of water. The values obtained from surface area per surfactantgraphs suggest that most of the bolaforms take up a looped conformation at the interface, with the polar groups attached at the interface and alkyl chains forming a loop. Argumentative Essay On Prions Proteinaceous Infectious Particles, commonly known as Prions, are extremely rare misfolds of the protein PrPc, which cause fatally neurodegenerative diseases, and are theorized to be infectious only by the protein itself (U.S National Library of Medicine, 1998). This protein only theory is still heavily debated today, as some scientists deny the theory, and there isn t a significant amount of evidence on each side to qualify the theory or disprove it (Soto, C. 2011). The base Prion protein is encoded in the gene PRNP, while being non infectious. As the amount of diseases discovered increased, it became eerily known that the Prion disease in humans and animals were all caused by one original misfolded protein, PrPsc. Despite a common origin, pinning down a solution to the problems of Prions is an extremely complex issue. On one hand a group of historian argues the notion that Brazil and the Caribbean experienced a sugar revolution while on the other hand another group argues that there was no such thing as a sugar revolution, what Brazil and Caribbean experienced was simply a sugar boom. In order to assess which group of historians is more accurate, one must first understand the concept of a sugar revolution and what factors must be present in order for a sugar revolution to occur. Sugar cane could only be grown on large plots of land which ranged from 150 acres to 500 acres in Barbados and in Jamaica 300 acres to 5000 acres. The type of labour also changed within the Caribbean islands of Barbados, Jamaica, Nevis, Antigua and Montserrat from free labour to slave labour. Tobacco cultivation required a very small labour force, but with sugar as the new cash crop a large labour force was needed in which the Dutch provided by bringing African slaves. Therefore the white populations of these countries declined while the black populations increased due to the sugar revolution. Even though the governments of these Islands made efforts to keep the black to white ratio ten to one, according to Greenwood, Robert, Hamber, S, Dyde, Brian the ratio became extremely difficult to maintain during the years passed . In Freud s paper Fetishism (1927) he attempts to persuade physicians and laypeople alike of the purpose and origin of fetishism. Freud uses his experience as a physician to convince the reader of the relationship between castrationanxiety and sexual abnormalities. He acknowledges that fetishes are often pleasurable or satisfying and it is, therefore, treated as a less important but relationally significant issue. No matter the varying spectrum of fetishes Freud concludes that they all lead back to trauma and the fear of losing the male phallus. Freud essentially argues that fetishism... Therefore, some men do not accept that a women has lost her penis. To cope with the introduction of this jarring information the male instead chooses to believe the phallus remains but in a different way, resolving the cognitive dissonance and resulting in a fetish. In fraud s explanation, the female phallus is almost like a toy or favorite blanket a child refuses to give up. Just as the blanket protects a child from the horrors of the dark, a fetish insulates a male s ego or perception of reality, to allow them to continue functioning normally and sexually. Freud s entire argument centers on castration anxiety and discounts other aspects of sex and sexuality (desire, homosexuality as natural). According to Freud, fetishism essential develops out of cognitive dissonance and the need to reconcile two opposing views on the female phallus. The confrontation of female genitalia and the trauma imposed on the male psyche because of this event seem overly exaggerated. Investment casting produces products that have good surface quality and high spatial accuracy. It is advantageous for parts with more complex shapes or materials that are difficult to form. This method involves seven steps and results in the preliminary shapes of the femoral and tibial parts. 1. Wax Pattern Production Wax patterns function to shape the cavity within the mold. Though it is called a wax pattern, the pattern may also include materials such as wax, stearic acid, plastic and other industrial chemicals [3]. There are two ways to produce a wax pattern. For both, a wax cylinder is first taken from heat preservation equipment and placed on a hydraulic die casting machine to remove any air or geocerite from the wax. In one process, the wax is then poured into the mold and swirled around until the inner surface is covered with an even coating. This is repeated until an appropriate thickness is reached. The second method is to pressure inject the liquid wax into an aluminum mold. The mold is then turned upside down so the liquid wax is removed and the remaining wax layer is left to cool and harden. 2. Wax Pattern Assembly In order to improve productivity, workers usually assemble multiple patterns on a holder made of wax. The C represents cost; we determined that there were little restrictions because the components of our solution would not require technologies and materials that we do not currently possess. Next, we considered the A which stand for acceptance. Every teammember s ideas benefitted the process, and most of our initial ideas did fit well in the overall workflow of the major solution. The last thing that was unfair about the equipment is that when an emperor fought against a gladiator, he would weaken him. This shows me that the equipment that the gladiators used was unfair. Finally, the last thing that was unfair was how the audience influenced if the gladiators lived or died. I see literary devices as the toppings and the dough is the good writing. Literary devices refer to the typical structures used by writers in their works to convey his or her message in a simple manner to his or her readers. When employed properly, the different literary devices help readers to appreciate, interpret and analyze a literary work. , and by developing a strong understanding of what they are and how they function, one can increase their enjoyment of the writing. Connotation refers to a meaning that is implied by a word apart from the thing which it describes explicitly. One work I have seen it in is The Black Cat . In this work, connotation has been used negative common seen as bad luck in many cultures. Throughout The Black Cat connotation appears quite a few times, one that I found interesting was when he had found a new cat, the cat had white fur around its neck, Poe states that the fur starts to turn into the form of the gallows which is what Poe had used to hang the old cat. The cat is a sign of connotation as bad luck. Imagery is the use of figurative language to represent objects, actions, and ideas in such a way that it appeals to our physical senses. In The Black Cat , Poe uses words and phrases to create mental images for the reader, imagery helps the reader to visualize and see it more realistically. For example, ... There is discussion of same sex, heterosexual friendships and same sex, same orientation friendships. These topics were the precursor of delving into the discussion of intersectional friendships and how Muraco conducted this study. According to the author, intersectional friendships challenge a variety of social norms. Previous research shows that straight people who are in contact with gay men and lesbians have a favorable attitude towards them; this favorable attitude is meant as in acceptance, not tolerance. Furthermore, most of the dyad friendships interviewed were very close friends, if not best friends. In multiple cases, the gay man was often incorporated into the straight woman s family. The straight women offer to be a surrogate mother before they themselves are married and trying for children of her own. On the contrary, Muraco further explains the stereotype that all gay couples want children. Another way that these friendships are beneficial to the individual is that they provide great financial support for each other, which is usually a familial function. The media tends to depict these intersectional friendships generally as gay men and straight women that are the best of friends who go shopping and clubbing together. Though this gender norm was common within the study, there are still other friendships that are regularly overlooked. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ancient Rome expanded quickly from a small town (founded in 753bc) situated on the Tiber River, to an empire with one fifth of the world s population under its control. This displayed the strength that they possessed, and the control of many different cultures led to the acquisition of a range of typologies. The Greeks started building corbelled arches and creating arch shaped voussoirs. These worked well, however, they did not discover the strength or span the distances that the Romans were able to. The widest known Greek archway spans only 7.35m, whereas the Romans built many great triumphal arches to emphasise their power in victory. Marcus VitruviusPollio wrote about the qualities a successful arch should entail, these were: utility, strength and aesthetics (Vitruvius, M., 1914). He wanted them to be built according to anthropometrics; symmetry and proportions of the human body. The full potential of the arch was reached when the Romans discovered the impressive compressive strength of the arch, meaning that they could span greater distances and create great heights using these new found qualities. Some of the most notable uses of the arch can be seen through Aqueducts, vast interiors and in, potentially, the most famous arched building; the Roman Colosseum. The Roman Colosseum is a four story tall amphitheatre which was able to seat up to 50,000 spectators. The first three stories contained stone benches and the top gallery was created with wooden bleachers for women, children and people of lower classes. Our cultural belief and values shape our views on our social, political, and economic exigencies. While our beliefs and values usually represent basic or core impressions of individuals in our society, they are constantly changing. Thus, they lend a sense of dynamism to our health care system. Our cultural beliefs and values also impact our sense of ethics, which also influences how we allocate our health resources and our sense of social justice, or lack of it. And although ACA represents a major reform the American health care system, history will tell us whether it survives after the next election cycles. Many of the forces in American health care that affected its evolution in the past are present today. • 51. Analysis Of Truman Capote s The Cold Blood Jonathan Hernandez C.L.I.M Mrs. Annesley AP English Lang Comp 10 August 2017 In Cold Blood Reflection Paper The novel In Cold Blood by Truman Capote is truly a very intriguing piece of literature. Based on a true story, the events of the novel follow the homicide of a loving family who are brutally murdered in a single night and tensions within the community rise as the real culprits are being searched for. Now the plot of the story isn t what makes this an extraordinary piece, it s the tone and mood that Capote uses to describe certain events, characters, and even settings. When it was revealed in the story that the reason for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When he describes the Clutter family the mood is happy and joyful and his tone is almost like he is over praising them as a family. This is because the Clutter family was seen as a perfect family that had nothing wrong with ait and everyone got along with very well. Now for the two culprits it was different. The tone and mood he used seemed to be pretty personal to both characters, as if they had more to them than what appears. This is what started to get me excited. I believed that their backstory had something to do with the Clutter family. One of the Culprits, Perry Smith, was in prison before the events in the movie. Perhaps the Clutter family put him there for crashing a plane on their property of something, I didn t know. Moving on to the events of the story, the tone and mood also had a similar effect as well. When the two culprits were on their way to holcomb, they stopped by many places to pick up some supplies. They pick up things like a rope and black stockings. Those two were used in the crime but the way Capote describes it just had me thinking. Perry said in a casual tone, You got any black stockings. Capote also said Next they were interested in rope. Now these two quotes make almost no sense without context but the context surrounding these two quotes is unusual. The tone used around them is very subtle as if what they were doing was not gonna end up in the murder of a family. They go around picking these murder supplies but Capote s ... • 52. Transportation Plan For A Sustainable Transportation System For more than 50 years the U.S. has followed a motor vehicle centric transportation policy which supported dramatic U.S. economic and population growth. Alternate forms of transportation including walking, biking, rail transit and public transit have been overlooked, even neglected in the auto era during which the overriding transportation planning philosophy has been to improve the speed of moving goods, services and people by expanding roads, highways and parking facilities. Transportation planning has proceeded without regard to health or the environment or the integrity and vitality of our communities. Early in the 21st century, the threat to national security and the implications of global climate change plus the rising cost of a...
