Microfinance Institutions Sustainability
MFI sustainability: The role of subsidies and grants
Microfinance institutions (MFI) have created intense debates in an industry of traditional banking.
Being primarily focused on mission of poverty reduction through economic stimulation of low income
areas, MFI have sharpened the credit policy to specification of area of interests. The major distinction
is loan interest rate being notably higher in comparison to profit orientated financial institutions
(Rosenberg et al. 2009). The reason roots in excessive cost of funds and administrative loses faced by
growing industry. As noted in Cull et.al (2009), interest paid by borrowers represents the struggle of
MFI to overcome the burden of expenses and achieve financial sustainability. The latter however, can
be reached by altering the capital structure of MFI through diversification of source of funding or
rejection of capital which can lead to malfunction. As soon as the changes are implemented,
institutions can proceed to expansion reaching increasing return to scale and beneficially affecting
sustainability. This essay would focus on the role on subsidies in performance of MFI. The rationale
behind exploring this form of noncommercial capital is that total amount of subsidized capital in MFI
reached almost 16 billion in 2009 (Bloomberg, 2012) posing a question regarding the alternative and
probably more efficient use of respective funds to support poor. The second reason derives from the
number of researches discussed later,

Gender Inequality In The Film A League Of Their Own
Gender Inequality To this day, gender inequality still exists across the world. While it squeezes itself
into our society, four mainly focus on the true aspects on what it is like to experience such inequality.
For example, women in the work force, the family life, the state, and sexes can lead to all forms of
discrimination. Did the screenwriters correctly portray what women back then suffered from?
Director, Penny Marshall s, A League of Their Own, demonstrates a taste of what women during the
1940 s we re told on how to act and live. The movie portrays unfairness between the character s looks
based on gender, and differences within their family. Marshall also shows when and why this
discrimination was occurring. Such as including scenes that displayed the time period and the
importance of continuing on America s favorite activities after men left for war. Adding on, including
the time frame of a book or movie is crucial, because if provides information and gives the audience

Examples Of Chuck Bass As An American Hero
The American Hero Heroes and victims are the product of the mood they were in when opportunity
came or when circumstances were at their worst said Orson Scott Card. In every movie or television
show has a hero and victim but which one is going to have the fans and watchers vote? A hero is a
person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. As an
anti heroic is one who doesn t act like a typical hero but often is a little villainous. Heroes are from
many different cultures for example superman and batman. Chuck Bass is an anti heroic main

He then moved to the big city to film. Playing his role as Chuck on the series Gossip Girls made his
career as an actor. He was contacted to show up to casting calls or has offers to play roles without

What, exactly, does antihero mean? Merriam Webster traces its first appearance back to 1714 and
murkily defines it as a protagonist or notable figure who is considerably lacking in heroic qualities.
Charles Bartholomew Joseph Chuck Bass is a fictional character in the novel and television show
Gossip Girl. Chuck Bass is known as the show s antihero. For example, he cheats, lies or uses the
power of money to make his friends happy or get what they want. He isn t the traditional anti heroic
because he is more relatable to people. His character traits have changed since starting in the first
episode to the last episode in season six. During season one Chuck was shy, and unlikeable. Also, he is
considered the bad boy. He was only interested in girls, himself and money. In an episode, he says
Why should I be... an usher? I m Chuck Bass. This is an example of how his unlikable personality
came across to others. Then by the end of the third season he shows us a sensitive side. By the third
season, Chuck shows a nicer side and is likable. We see him make a few big and thoughtful gesture to
his queen bee girlfriend, for example, surprising her with her dream dress for prom.

The Laos Culture
The Lao s culture, including their traditions, values, and shared identity continues to be passed down

International Security And Peace Management
Introduction The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) occupies the position of leading
supranational entity in charge of upholding international security and peace. Members of the UN
Security Council vote on various global security and peace issues. Debates ranges on the functional
effectiveness of UN Security Council in the maintenance of International security and peace.
Controversy also ranges on the democratic representativeness of the UN Security Council, particularly
in the election of members from across the globe (Aloisi, 2013). The democracy of the UN Security
Council is the most controversial topic in International Security and Peace management, particularly
on the politics surrounding the UN Security Council veto powers. ... Show more content on

Is United Nation Security Council Decision Making Protocol Rational? Each Security Council
member has a single vote, and all decisions of the Council are decided by a popular vote of nine
members. Procedural questions are taken by nine votes from any of the Council member state
representatives, whereas all other issues require an affirmative vote of all the five permanent members
besides the nine vote majority rule. Any of the five permanent member states can hence block the
adoption of Council decision on what is infamously referred to as veto power. The veto power can
prevent the adoption of any Council decision in a matter that involves their interests. As largely as
expected, the institution of right of veto at Yalta Conference was met with a worldwide outcry for its
violation of the fledging balance of the UN Charter. United States proposal for the withholding of
right of veto of a permanent member party embroiled in a conflict was ratified but only for non
coercive intervention decisions. The thin line between procedural issues and other issues in paragraph
2 and 3 of Article 27 of the Charter has been another major bone of contention. Acrimony in the
debate on two contentious paragraphs is further infuriated by the Charter s prohibiting the Security
Council from establishing an accurate line that separates procedural issues and other issues (De Wet,

Essay on The Mbuti Culture
Mbuti Culture
Introduction
The Mbuti people are known as foragers because their main source of survival lies on hunting and
gathering as they move from one place to another. They originated from a region in Africa called
Congo. The Mbuti people even with their fairly decent population prefer to be grouped into smaller
groups or bands which are mostly made up of close relatives. They live in the rainforests of central
Africa, where they have lived popularly for more than 6000 years now.
Different anthropologists such as Nowak and Laird (2010), and Butler (2006), recommended that
these residents of jungles contain an exclusive background; position, morals and everyday life is
entirely through big adjustment. It can be said that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a bird named the Greater Honey steer that flies to the bee hives and demonstrates the Mbuti
where the honey is. The honey steers live on beeswax. According to Kaczynski, (2010), he described
that the Mbuti people constructed their homes from leaves and branches. They dress in small clothing
as it is forever warm in the rainforest. They create their clothing from leaves and objects they discover
in the rainforest. Their techniques of life are in hazard as of the obliteration of the rainforest that they
exist in. The government has attempted to teach them how to farm, however the Mbuti do not wish to
alter the techniques of their lives.
They are conscious about passageway, rivers and valleys. The Mbuti hunts through traps, nets and
arrows. Bend over hunting is masculine issue, at the same time as net hunting is completed by both
sexes; (women and men). The men rest in the traps and the women attempt to redden nature out of
their defeating spot. Some animals they hunt are the antelopes, ants, crawfish, pigs, worms, insects,
snails, monkeys and fishes. The head of the hunters shares all the meat with his grouping. A further
leader technique of achieving food is plundering. This is when women and men explore the jungle
headed in groups gathering every sort of plants: honey, roots, fruits, leaves, wild yams, berries and
cola nuts etc.

Pros And Cons Of Abolishing Standardized Tests

Abolishing Standardized Tests Standardized tests determine such a drastic amount of one s future. Not
only do students fail standardized tests, but they also lack the knowledge that one expects a child to
learn in their current grade. In general, teachers focus on preparing students for tests and not truly
teaching the material. This forces the question of whether or not standardized tests measure what
students have learned or their test taking skills. Many students have terrible test taking skills, which
results in substantially low scores. This does not result from lack of knowledge of the material, but
rather because they do not understand how to effectively take and finish tests. Students deserve a
proper education, therefore require a reliable educator. The majority of these failures result in lower
graduation rates, and the percent of workforce drastically drops. Standardized tests such as the
American College Test, the ACT, Scholastic Aptitude Test, the SAT, and core state tests should not
remain a deciding factor for passing a grade level or getting accepted into a certain college. One
reason includes students inability to afford needed test preparation. Misevaluating students knowledge
and skills when using structured tests continues to exemplify the major flaws in today s education
system. Therefore, standardized testing should not exist.

Compare And Contrast A Fabricated Mexican And The Girl In...
How is A Fabricated Mexican different from The Girl in My Town? These books are about two
characters that come from Mexican families and live in an impoverished place in America. Both
families work hard to make their life better by overcoming their struggles and escaping their family s
poverty. Although each family is Mexican, they have their own different lifestyles: school, life with
their fathers, and adulthood. The protagonists in each story, Ricky Coronado in A Fabricated Mexican
and Angela Morales in The Girl in My Town, have many differences. While they are both raised in
immensely poor economic conditions, with many life struggles, they both ultimately overcome their
struggles and find much success. For instance, when they grow up, they become teachers and have
money. Ricky (A Fabricated Mexican) and Angela (The Girl in My Town), both come from hard
working families, but Angela s family earns more money than does Ricky s. In the book, A Fabricated
Mexican, Ricky Coronado and his family work in the fields and earn insufficient money. In contrast,
Angela Morales and her family own Raymor Electric, her parents appliance store. The family benefits
from selling appliances and earning sufficient money. Unlike Ricky, Angela does not have to work
hard.
As students, Ricky Coronado and Angela Morales experience contradiction of their school education.

The Tacoma Narrows Bridge, was also known as the Galloping Gertie, was one of the most famous
cause study of structure failure in the world. The idea for constructuring of the bridge came up in the
date back to 1889 with a Northern Pacific Railway proposal for a trestle. Then after a few yerars of
concreted and construction with the cost of over 6,400,000 dallors, the bridge was been build and
became the third longest and the most flexible suspension bridge in the world of its time of 1900s with
a toatl length of 1810m. It was designed as a twin suspension bridge which located between Tacoma

Prior of this time, most bridge design were based on trusses, arches, and cantilevers to support heavy
freight trains. Automobiles were obviously much lighter. Suspension bridge design had been
envolving into producing bridges of maximum grace, lightness and flexibility which actually was
more suited for carrying lighter cars and not heavier train. Unfortunately, engineers did not fully
understand the response of the suspension bridge design to these poorly understand forces. The second
reson was due to the excitation of torsional mode. The Tacoma Narrows Bridge was built with shallow
plate girders instead of the deep stiffening trusses of railway bridges, in which trusses allowed wind to
pass through but plate girders, on the other hand, present an obstacle to the wind. As a result of its
design, it was proved that the bridge was too light and unstable. And causing alloping Gertieaction

Then the wind started increasing to 67.6 km/h (42 miles/h). One supporting cable at the mid span

Racial Profiling Is A Problem
Racial profiling has been an issue in society for as long as America had a criminal justice system.
Racial profiling is a problem because it refers discriminatory practice bye law enforcement officials of
targeting individuals for suspicion of crime based on the individual s race, ethnicity, religion or
national origin. In 1868, the fourteenth amendment was ratified which states, No state. Shall deny to
any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws, would have made racial profiling
illegal had it been enforced by the courts. Many years passed and individuals are still being racially
profiled. After the 2001 terrorist attack, George W. Bush signed an executive order banning the use of
race, color, and ethnicity to profile suspects in 70 different federal agencies. The nature of this social
problem is still very serious, so why is racial profiling still a problem in America today? 81% of
American that participated in the national poll surveying the view of racial profiling that was set up in
1999 disagreed with racial profiling (Gross 1413). Many people including our former president
George Bush and current president Barack Obama have shined a light onto the subject of racial
profiling and its negative outcomes. Citizens, law enforcement and even the individuals that are
causing this issue know that racial profiling is wrong, but it continues to be a major issue that is
relevant in the United States.

Nietzsche s Concept of Eternal Recurrence
Friedrich Nietzsche is a German philosopher who lived in 1844 to 1900, and his proposition on eternal
recurrence was one of his most discussed works. The concept states that the world is eternally self
destroying, then self creating, over time. He radicalizes the Christian concept of eternity and combines
it with simple reasoning to come up with an innovative concept. This paper will discuss in detail what
eternal recurrence is and the implications of such a concept on free spirits, and whether adopting such
a belief will make a person s life better or not. The paper will then proceed to offer a response to
criticism on Nietzsche s proposition. The text to be used is the second edition of Existentialism: Basic
Writings by Charles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the paper to portray balance and respect to divergent opinions, it will offer an argument that
counters the chosen position, and then offer a response to this counter argument. Upon completion of
these, the paper will offer a conclusion that summarizes its contents and tie up all concepts presented.
Eternal recurrence is a notion that states that the world is recurrent and will continue in such manner
to form a self similar and infinite time. It was founded in ancient Indian and Egyptian philosophy and
was heavily employed by Nietzsche, who used it as a central faucet of his philosophy. If such a
concept was indeed true, and man lived a constantly recurring life, then its adoption would result in a
better life. This is because a person would try to maximize the number of good experience, as every
pleasure inducing experience will recur throughout (Guignon Pereboom 2001). When a person
believes that the same experiences will recur in other lives, then one will want to ensure that most of
these experiences are mostly gratifying, such that, through each recurrence, the person will continue
experiencing the same pleasure. The free spirit will aim at engaging in activities that will result in a
fulfilled life, meaning that a person will become more ambitious, more

Physics Of Baseball Essay
Physics is used all the time in our daily lives. It is used in almost everything that we do for example,
playing basketball, walking, running, driving and of course our subject of the day is physics behind
baseball. Baseball uses physics in everything like, throwing a ball, running to the bases, catching the
ball, and batting. Batting is one of the main things in baseball that use a lot of physics because it is
important that you know how hard , and where to swing in order to get the ball to where you want it to

Analysis of the Film American Beauty
American Beauty is a 1999 drama film that focuses on contemporary lives of individuals having
diverse personalities and identities. The movie and the main character Lester Burnham are aiming to
make us realise that life can be short therefore we should lead more meaningful lives. Through this, he
takes us one year back which summarises his life and those around him. Outward appearances can be
very deceiving as anyone can acquire superficial impressions. In this discussion, I will be examining
closely on a number of identities that is found in American Beauty .
In the film, the characters are in the search for what they believed was their happiness. Too focused on
finding what they deemed was happiness, they failed to consistently maintain coherent identities.
Lester Burnham, a husband and a father, who is the protagonist of the film, feels ambushed at home
and at work. He has little to no control of his life as his wife Carolyn strives to be the perfect
American family. Lester unleashes from being controlled when he meets his daughter s best friend,
Angela and sees her as a femme fatale and their neighbour s son, Ricky. Ricky introduces himself to
Lester on one of Carolyn s business social function and gets along immediately while sharing a joint.

Feelings/thoughts
Before I started this task I felt slightly anxious as it was the first time I had supported this patient on a

relation to her feeding and I had previously witnessed her being very verbally aggressive, trying to

Social psychologist Kurt Lewin, devised a theory to explain the internal conflicts that humans
experience every day. Conflict is an unavoidable part of our daily lives. As adults we ve hopefully
learned to deal with conflict better than we did as children. Students have very little understanding of
how to deal with conflict whether it s between themselves and others or just within themselves.
Helping them realize that their conflicts are shared by everyone else can lessen the stress caused by
these conflicts.
There are 3 major types of conflicts that all of us confront. These are internal conflicts. They are
known as:
Approach Avoidance Conflict
Avoidance Avoidance Conflict
Approach Approach Conflict
(A fourth type of conflict is called Double Approach Avoidance. This occurs when there are two
choices both of which have attractive and unattractive aspects.)
What makes these conflicts a problem, in addition to not being able to have everything you want, is
that they can be very stressful, especially for children. It s

This chapter describes the importance of a questionnaire and presents the process for developing
questionnaires and observational forms. Guidelines for questionnaire construction are provided at each
stage of the process. In addition, commonly used scaling techniques and use of questionnaires in
experimentation are discussed and the design of observational forms is presented.1
What Is a Questionnaire?
A questionnaire is a formalized set of questions for obtaining information from respondents. The
overriding objective is to translate the researcher s information needs into a set of specific questions
that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are exceptions to this rule. Filler questions may be added to disguise the purpose or sponsorship
of the project. For example, in brand studies, a researcher may include questions about the full range
of competing brands so that the respondents won t know who is sponsoring the study. Early in the
interviewing process when the researcher is attempting to build a relationship with respondents and
capture their attention, a few easy to answer neutral questions may be helpful. At times, certain
questions may also be repeated for the purpose of assessing reliability or validity.
Are Several Questions Needed Instead of One?
In some cases, two questions are better than one. However, asking two questions in one is not the
solution. Consider the following question:
Do you think JC Penney offers better variety and prices than other department stores stores?
(Incorrect)
A yes answer will presumably be clear, but what if the answer is no ? Does this mean that the
respondent thinks that JC Penney does not offer better variety, that it does not offer better prices, or
that it neither offers better variety nor better prices? Such a question is called a doublebarreled
question because two or more questions are combined into one. To avoid confusion, these questions
should be asked separately,

Analysis Of The Essential Metamorphoses And Goose Food
Ovid s epic The Essential Metamorphoses and Ghandl s poem Goose food present similar visions of
women, and the writers show that men might not actually be superior, compared to women as they are
often portrayed in myth. Moreover, in Ovid, there are numerous myths told, but in most of them, there
is a recurrent theme of misogyny, and in the first myth of the epic called Origin of the World , on top
of just describing the creation of the world, it is mentioned that man was first to be created and woman
was made second. This could be because of numerous reasons; for example, Ovid could have been
jealous that it was actually woman that was created first or maybe Ovid wanted to follow what the rest
of society believed in order to be able to gain the trust of the readers so that he could then be able to
put unrealistic views and that when reading the epic, the reader becomes skeptical of what seems so
true to him at first and that maybe the whole principal of man being at the center of attention is not a
true fact. Similarly, in Ghandl s Goose Food , this story is told in a single way and man again is at the
center of the attention, but this could be to give...(not good ). These stories portray women in a
negative way in order to make readers realize that they are actually equal to men in real life and that
they might even be superior to men. This statement can be viewed through the way women look
physically, the actions they perform, how men interact in proximity to them

Philippines Imperialism
Imperialism is when one powerful nation dominates a weaker nation. Nations should not imperialize
others and they are many reasons why, that are shown in history. The first reason is imperialism causes
a hostile environment between the nation imperializing and the nation being imperialized. Next, the
negative outcomes outweigh the positive. In other words, when there is little good that comes out of
expanding one nation, why would a nation take that risk? Lastly, Ethnocentrism is one of the effects of
imperialism. Ethnocentrism is judging another culture based on the standards of their own culture.
There are so many cultures coexisting so how can nations tell cultures that their belief is wrong and
should practice their culture. Imperialism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ethnocentrism is judging distant cultures based on the standards of your own. Imperialist nations
believe that they are superior races and culture. The White Man s Burden provides more insight on the
perspective of those imperialist nations ( The White Man s Burden : Kipling s Hymn to U.S.
Imperialism ). To serve your captives need; to wait in heavy harness, on fluttered folk and wild your
new caught, sullen peoples, half devil and half child said Kipling ( The White Man s Burden : Kipling
s Hymn to U.S. Imperialism ). This quote means it is believed that the white man s burden or
responsibility is to imperialize, civilize, and Christianize these other nations. For instance, African
American were seen as the unfit and they needed to be civilized. Racism is when races are considered
inferior to another race because of assumptions made. When you consider another race unfit, you are
basing it off your own culture s differences therefore creating racism (Rashid, Aatif). Furthermore
inequality is caused by those superior nations . These superior nations put themselves on a high
pedestal resulting in the belief they are better than anyone else. Ethnocentrism is cause by imperialism
and can sometimes be the motivation behind imperialism. Inequality is then an effect of those nations
or races that believe they are better than

Swot Analysis Of Bean s New Multi Purpose Camping Unit Essay
With the introduction of a new product comes the potential for risk. Great care and thoroughness
should be taken to identify as many potential risks as imaginable since although it is not always
possible to control risk factors it is entirely possible to mitigate potential ill effects if a solid strategy is
in place. Some risk factors identified may never actually be realized, but it is well worth having a
contingency plan in place rather than running the risk of causing detriment to the financial well being
of the business. Several possible risks have been identified in association with the launch of L.L. Bean
s new multi purpose camping unit, the first being the risk of losing business to competitors with
similar products. The mitigation plan to address this risk comes from the very core of L.L. Bean s
business. L.L. Bean will differentiate itself from its competitors by offering a unique product of
superior quality, shipped for free, and backed by their unsurpassed customer service and 100%
satisfaction guarantee. This new product is multifunctional, and can take the place of several other
items. There is nothing quite like it on the market. L.L. Bean will present a product of value to the
customer, lessening the risk of competitors taking business away. A second potential risk lies in
marketing to the proper audience and reaching their target. The mitigation plan to address this risk
involves making use of L.L. Bean s already established clientele. The new product

How Does a Family Work as a System Essay
How does a family work as a system in promoting health
Families are a natural social structure. The widely accepted definition of family is a group of two or
more people related by blood, marriage, or adoption (Medalie amp; Cole Kelly, 2002, p. 1277). This
definition is inclusive of the many different structures of families to allow for big, small, single parent,
dual parent, gay and lesbian, heterosexual, adoptive, and biological. The family plays an integral part
in the health of its members, which often leads to the stretching of the family unit beyond this
definition to include extended family. The family unit is more than a collection of units. Culture and
values play a large role in how families react and deal with issues ... Show more content on

Families must be involved in the care of the child throughout treatment. The family is the fundamental
source of support to the child and to promote health family involvement is essential. To this end
parents and grandparents are not considered visitors but part of the team treating the child within our
organization. Goals must be mutually supported by the team; with barriers such as hidden expectations
and unclear roles eliminated through open communication. The desired outcome from this partnership
is a strengthening of family heath and well being (Freidman, Bowden, amp; Jones, 2003).
Hospitalization is a stressful event for the majority of individuals the nurse reacts in a manner to
mitigate the stressor to the entire family unit.
Nuemans systems model is based on the reaction to stress. The model has a central core surrounded by
lines of resistance. The lines of resistance represent how the individual or family react to the stressor.
The nurses role is to help stabilize the system through levels of prevention. Primary prevention is
meant to protect and strengthen the normal lines of defense. Secondary prevention the nurse
intervenes to assist in strengthening internal lines of resistance through reduction in the reaction to the
stressor. Tertiary prevention is after the stressor the nurses assists the individual or family in returning
to a state of wellness.

The Life Of James Madison Essay
The Life of James Madison
Madison Williams
Central High School
November 9, 2015
3rd Period Abstract In my paper I will state and explain the least known aspects of James Madison.
James Madison contributed to some of the most simple and complex events that have not been
recognized. For his job well done, I am willing to make those aspects known. The Life of James
Madison James Madison, also known as The Father on the Constitution , contributed to quite a few
intellectual events in the United States. Madison was an intelligent man with bright ideas that helped
this country become the one it is today. With all his appearances to debates, committee meetings, and
being elected in conventions, he was able to present us the federal government we have today and
some of our basic rights. James Madison s life and times, before, during, and after presidency is now
becoming more well known and interpreted. James Madison was born on March 16, 1751, in Port
Conway, Virginia, to Colonel James Madison Sr. and Eleanor Rose Conway. Madison and his siblings
grew up into the Christian religion since his family was very religious. James had eleven other siblings
and was the oldest out of them all. All his siblings were outgoing and playful, but James was the most
fragile out of all his siblings due to Epileptoid Hysteria. Epileptiod Hysteria is a sickness that causes
seizures, a fear that affects your mind, and it affects how you think about different situations. Due to

Sleep Deprivation And Its Effects On Children Essay
According to the Sleepless in America (American Academy of Sleep Medicine, 2014), the
documentary which co produced by the National Geographic Channel, almost forty percent of
Americans get less than five hours of sleep per night. Sleep deprivation often results in depression like
symptoms. Thus we heard suggestions that we should have at least eight hours of sleep a night. In fact,
the duration of sleep affected by multiple factors, such as human has different sleep needs at the
different age, and according to the Openstax (2014), by the time we are 65 years old, we average
fewer than seven hours of sleep per day. For instance, I going to prove that people have less than
seven hours of sleep are less healthy, and I will use some current scientific data to support the claim
that six to seven to eight hours are sufficient for the most population. Adolescents need eight hours of
sleep due to the fact that insufficient sleep results in emotional and behavioral difficulties. Adolescents
like college students are among seems the most sleep deprived. They weren t getting the recommend
eight hours of sleep per night. However, those individuals who restrict their sleep time because of
professional and social demands, thus they tend to suffer from insomnia, sleep deprivation, or feel
sleepless during the daytime. Research conducted by Noland (2009) aimed to prove that sleep duration
affects the health of children and adolescents. They took a sample of three high schools, the

Barn Burning Essay
Every person reaches a point in their lives when they must define themselves in relation to their
parents. We all come through this experience differently, depending on our parents and the situation
that we are in. For some people the experience comes very early in their lives, and can be a significant
life changing experience. In William Faulkner s Barn Burning Colonel Sartoris Snopes must decide
either to stand with his father and compromise his integrity, or embrace honesty and morality and
condemn his family. This is a difficult decision to make, especially for a ten year old boy that has
nothing outside of what his father provides. Sarty s decision to ultimately betray his father is
dependent on his observation of Abner s character ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a boy, however, he doesn t know how to explain the conflict he is feeling and can only take in what
is happening around him.
Sarty has spent the beginning of the trial listening to the proceedings and waiting for Abner to defend
himself. When Sarty is called as a witness, he knows from his father s posture that he, Sarty, will have
to lie to defend the family. The fact that Sarty knows this without even seeing Abner s face shows just
how much time Sarty has spent observing his father s body language and actions. This is reasonable,
and even expected behavior from a child who lives with a parent who is as prone to anger and
retaliation as Abner. We see how desperate Sarty is about his father s willingness for revenge when
they are moving to the De Spain s estate and he thinks to himself, Forever [...]. Maybe he s done
satisfied now, now that he has... (86). But Sarty is unable to admit the truth even to himself, probably
because his loyalty to, and dependence on Abner. Even so early in the story Sarty feels that his father
is doing wrong, but through all his observation cannot condemn the man. Sarty admires the qualities
of independence, courage and conviction in his father but doesn t recognize that these qualities, along
with the righteous indignation that Abner constantly keeps at the ready, are exactly what cause them to

Junior Ambassador Research Paper
During my senior year of high school, I had the opportunity to become a Junior Ambassador for the
Chamber of Commerce of Walker County. Being a Junior Ambassador for this organization was a
great experience. It taught me how to be responsible, hardworking, and has prepared me to hopefully
become a Bevill State Ambassador if I get the opportunity. Based on my experience as a Junior
Ambassador, if I had the chance to change anything in Walker County, I would change the fact that
there is not as much community involvement as many would hope for. Being involved in the
community is something that I strive to do. My generation is becoming the face of tomorrow. I think it

A Short Note On Loss Of Brand Reputation
1. Risk One Loss of Brand Reputation
A loss of brand reputation occurs from many different potential sources, but can be managed and
mitigate through appropriate steps before and after any potential incidents that could affect the
company s brand. It is vital to employ rigorous quality control monitoring, in order to ensure stock
meets regulation and public safety expectations of the market. Failure to monitor the quality of stock
can result in poor quality goods, or even unsafe goods being sold and associated with the company
name. Following up on quality control management, with distributors to ensure that stock continues to
meet the companies rigorous standards will protect the companies brand. Responding appropriately
and swiftly to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Developing a contingency plan for emergencies both with the distributing partner, and within the
company will enable the company to respond quickly to maintain distributor relationships or make
adjustments for an emergency to mitigate the impact on the company s operations.
3. Risk Three Regulatory Changes Regulatory changes can have a positive impact on the company,
but can also incur operational costs. As regulation changes do not occur in a vacuum the company can
evaluate the potential impact of regulation changes and set aside sufficient funds before changes occur
to ensure the company continues to meet regulation demands. The organization can setup an internal
committee that can evaluate the impact of regulation changes being debated. The advantage of this is
leveraging some changes to the companies benefit. For example, if there is a desired change that
would enhance food safety, the committee may find that enacting the change would not incur a large
cost, would improve brand recognition to enact the change, and may choose to change company
standards whether or not the regulation changes. It can aid in planning how to mitigate operational
cost increases due to regulation changes, for example the pharmacy may face changing health
insurance regulation changes and the company would not only need to set aside sufficient funds, but
also institute a compliance plan upon the regulation changing.

after this tragic incidence. Bashkin is delighted to finally see his father, and feels secure in his arms

world, due to his race. Little acts of kindness will barely help his tremendous amount of pain he will
have. However in the courtroom, ¨every single person in this room has chosen to act against horror,
has chosen to act in care¨ (McBride 302). The judge wants to make Bashkin aware that everyone in
courtroom understands his misery. They want to destroy his terror and help him move past this with
kindness. This is similar to Avis´s belief where if you manage to keep their own perspective they will
eventually realize that the little things in life do matter. Because of Bashkin´s past, he is not able to

  • 2. Microfinance Institutions Sustainability MFI sustainability: The role of subsidies and grants Microfinance institutions (MFI) have created intense debates in an industry of traditional banking. Being primarily focused on mission of poverty reduction through economic stimulation of low income areas, MFI have sharpened the credit policy to specification of area of interests. The major distinction is loan interest rate being notably higher in comparison to profit orientated financial institutions (Rosenberg et al. 2009). The reason roots in excessive cost of funds and administrative loses faced by growing industry. As noted in Cull et.al (2009), interest paid by borrowers represents the struggle of MFI to overcome the burden of expenses and achieve financial sustainability. The latter however, can be reached by altering the capital structure of MFI through diversification of source of funding or rejection of capital which can lead to malfunction. As soon as the changes are implemented, institutions can proceed to expansion reaching increasing return to scale and beneficially affecting sustainability. This essay would focus on the role on subsidies in performance of MFI. The rationale behind exploring this form of noncommercial capital is that total amount of subsidized capital in MFI reached almost 16 billion in 2009 (Bloomberg, 2012) posing a question regarding the alternative and probably more efficient use of respective funds to support poor. The second reason derives from the number of researches discussed later, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While it squeezes itself into our society, four mainly focus on the true aspects on what it is like to experience such inequality. For example, women in the work force, the family life, the state, and sexes can lead to all forms of discrimination. Did the screenwriters correctly portray what women back then suffered from? Director, Penny Marshall s, A League of Their Own, demonstrates a taste of what women during the 1940 s we re told on how to act and live. The movie portrays unfairness between the character s looks based on gender, and differences within their family. Marshall also shows when and why this discrimination was occurring. Such as including scenes that displayed the time period and the importance of continuing on America s favorite activities after men left for war. Adding on, including the time frame of a book or movie is crucial, because if provides information and gives the audience background information. Merriam Webster traces its first appearance back to 1714 and murkily defines it as a protagonist or notable figure who is considerably lacking in heroic qualities. Charles Bartholomew Joseph Chuck Bass is a fictional character in the novel and television show Gossip Girl. Chuck Bass is known as the show s antihero. For example, he cheats, lies or uses the power of money to make his friends happy or get what they want. He isn t the traditional anti heroic because he is more relatable to people. His character traits have changed since starting in the first episode to the last episode in season six. During season one Chuck was shy, and unlikeable. Also, he is considered the bad boy. He was only interested in girls, himself and money. In an episode, he says Why should I be... an usher? I m Chuck Bass. This is an example of how his unlikable personality came across to others. Members of the UN Security Council vote on various global security and peace issues. Debates ranges on the functional effectiveness of UN Security Council in the maintenance of International security and peace. Controversy also ranges on the democratic representativeness of the UN Security Council, particularly in the election of members from across the globe (Aloisi, 2013). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Is United Nation Security Council Decision Making Protocol Rational? Each Security Council member has a single vote, and all decisions of the Council are decided by a popular vote of nine members. Procedural questions are taken by nine votes from any of the Council member state representatives, whereas all other issues require an affirmative vote of all the five permanent members besides the nine vote majority rule. Any of the five permanent member states can hence block the adoption of Council decision on what is infamously referred to as veto power. The veto power can prevent the adoption of any Council decision in a matter that involves their interests. As largely as expected, the institution of right of veto at Yalta Conference was met with a worldwide outcry for its violation of the fledging balance of the UN Charter. United States proposal for the withholding of right of veto of a permanent member party embroiled in a conflict was ratified but only for non coercive intervention decisions. The thin line between procedural issues and other issues in paragraph 2 and 3 of Article 27 of the Charter has been another major bone of contention. Acrimony in the debate on two contentious paragraphs is further infuriated by the Charter s prohibiting the Security Council from establishing an accurate line that separates procedural issues and other issues (De Wet, 2013). • 9. Pros And Cons Of Abolishing Standardized Tests Stolz 1 Jennie Stolz DC English Mrs. Colbert 3 November 2017 Abolishing Standardized Tests Standardized tests determine such a drastic amount of one s future. Not only do students fail standardized tests, but they also lack the knowledge that one expects a child to learn in their current grade. In general, teachers focus on preparing students for tests and not truly teaching the material. This forces the question of whether or not standardized tests measure what students have learned or their test taking skills. Many students have terrible test taking skills, which results in substantially low scores. This does not result from lack of knowledge of the material, but rather because they do not understand how to effectively take and finish tests. Students deserve a proper education, therefore require a reliable educator. The majority of these failures result in lower graduation rates, and the percent of workforce drastically drops. Standardized tests such as the American College Test, the ACT, Scholastic Aptitude Test, the SAT, and core state tests should not remain a deciding factor for passing a grade level or getting accepted into a certain college. One reason includes students inability to afford needed test preparation. Misevaluating students knowledge and skills when using structured tests continues to exemplify the major flaws in today s education system. Therefore, standardized testing should not exist. ... Suspension bridge design had been envolving into producing bridges of maximum grace, lightness and flexibility which actually was more suited for carrying lighter cars and not heavier train. Unfortunately, engineers did not fully understand the response of the suspension bridge design to these poorly understand forces. The second reson was due to the excitation of torsional mode. The Tacoma Narrows Bridge was built with shallow plate girders instead of the deep stiffening trusses of railway bridges, in which trusses allowed wind to pass through but plate girders, on the other hand, present an obstacle to the wind. Shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws, would have made racial profiling illegal had it been enforced by the courts. Many years passed and individuals are still being racially profiled. After the 2001 terrorist attack, George W. Bush signed an executive order banning the use of race, color, and ethnicity to profile suspects in 70 different federal agencies. The nature of this social problem is still very serious, so why is racial profiling still a problem in America today? 81% of American that participated in the national poll surveying the view of racial profiling that was set up in 1999 disagreed with racial profiling (Gross 1413). Many people including our former president George Bush and current president Barack Obama have shined a light onto the subject of racial profiling and its negative outcomes. Citizens, law enforcement and even the individuals that are causing this issue know that racial profiling is wrong, but it continues to be a major issue that is relevant in the United States. • 14. Nietzsche s Concept of Eternal Recurrence Friedrich Nietzsche is a German philosopher who lived in 1844 to 1900, and his proposition on eternal recurrence was one of his most discussed works. The concept states that the world is eternally self destroying, then self creating, over time. He radicalizes the Christian concept of eternity and combines it with simple reasoning to come up with an innovative concept. This paper will discuss in detail what eternal recurrence is and the implications of such a concept on free spirits, and whether adopting such a belief will make a person s life better or not. The paper will then proceed to offer a response to criticism on Nietzsche s proposition. The text to be used is the second edition of Existentialism: Basic Writings by Charles ... Eternal recurrence is a notion that states that the world is recurrent and will continue in such manner to form a self similar and infinite time. It was founded in ancient Indian and Egyptian philosophy and was heavily employed by Nietzsche, who used it as a central faucet of his philosophy. If such a concept was indeed true, and man lived a constantly recurring life, then its adoption would result in a better life. This is because a person would try to maximize the number of good experience, as every pleasure inducing experience will recur throughout (Guignon Pereboom 2001). When a person believes that the same experiences will recur in other lives, then one will want to ensure that most of these experiences are mostly gratifying, such that, through each recurrence, the person will continue experiencing the same pleasure. Baseball uses physics in everything like, throwing a ball, running to the bases, catching the ball, and batting. Batting is one of the main things in baseball that use a lot of physics because it is important that you know how hard , and where to swing in order to get the ball to where you want it to go. Conflict is an unavoidable part of our daily lives. As adults we ve hopefully learned to deal with conflict better than we did as children. Students have very little understanding of how to deal with conflict whether it s between themselves and others or just within themselves. Helping them realize that their conflicts are shared by everyone else can lessen the stress caused by these conflicts. There are 3 major types of conflicts that all of us confront. These are internal conflicts. They are known as: Approach Avoidance Conflict Avoidance Avoidance Conflict Approach Approach Conflict (A fourth type of conflict is called Double Approach Avoidance. This occurs when there are two choices both of which have attractive and unattractive aspects.) Filler questions may be added to disguise the purpose or sponsorship of the project. For example, in brand studies, a researcher may include questions about the full range of competing brands so that the respondents won t know who is sponsoring the study. Early in the interviewing process when the researcher is attempting to build a relationship with respondents and capture their attention, a few easy to answer neutral questions may be helpful. At times, certain questions may also be repeated for the purpose of assessing reliability or validity. Are Several Questions Needed Instead of One? In some cases, two questions are better than one. However, asking two questions in one is not the solution. Consider the following question: Do you think JC Penney offers better variety and prices than other department stores stores? (Incorrect) A yes answer will presumably be clear, but what if the answer is no ? Does this mean that the respondent thinks that JC Penney does not offer better variety, that it does not offer better prices, or that it neither offers better variety nor better prices? Such a question is called a doublebarreled question because two or more questions are combined into one. To avoid confusion, these questions should be asked separately, 178 178

Analysis Of The Essential Metamorphoses And Goose Food Ovid s epic The Essential Metamorphoses and Ghandl s poem Goose food present similar visions of women, and the writers show that men might not actually be superior, compared to women as they are often portrayed in myth. Moreover, in Ovid, there are numerous myths told, but in most of them, there is a recurrent theme of misogyny, and in the first myth of the epic called Origin of the World , on top of just describing the creation of the world, it is mentioned that man was first to be created and woman was made second. This could be because of numerous reasons; for example, Ovid could have been jealous that it was actually woman that was created first or maybe Ovid wanted to follow what the rest of society believed in order to be able to gain the trust of the readers so that he could then be able to put unrealistic views and that when reading the epic, the reader becomes skeptical of what seems so true to him at first and that maybe the whole principal of man being at the center of attention is not a true fact. Similarly, in Ghandl s Goose Food , this story is told in a single way and man again is at the center of the attention, but this could be to give...(not good ). These stories portray women in a negative way in order to make readers realize that they are actually equal to men in real life and that they might even be superior to men.
