Drug Trafficking Violations
This story was essentially censored by the U.S. media. The few American outlets that covered the
story focused upon the corruption aspect with Mexican officials and the CIA s complicity in the drug
trade. After all, such a story is now no longer quite as controversial with the help of a simple google
search. However, in 2015 LA Weekly was the first to print the full extent of Hector Berrellez s
accusations. According to Berrellez, his sources explicitly named the infamous CIA agent, Félix
Rodríguez, as the man who ordered the murder. If these findings are accurate, then this unveils an
extra level of the lawlessness by the agency. Berrellez had nothing to gain by coming forward with
these accusations and risked his own life to do so, yet everyone ... Show more content on

The Taliban inflicted a reign even more brutal and fundamentalist than that of Hekmatyar. Unlike
Hekmatyar, the Taliban differed in their hopes for a ban on opium, expressly for religious reasons and
likely to suppress the finances of their rival warlords. The Taliban initially implemented an opium ban
after gaining power, but the policy was quickly overturned because they feared a violent uprising by
the masses. After all, an Afghan farmer can make $10,000 a year with opium compared to about $400
a year with legal crops. As a result, Afghanistan remained the primary source for the global heroin
supply. However, the Taliban eventually decided to reinstate the ban on opium in 2000 in hopes that
their government would gain international recognition. Accordingly, the Taliban strictly enforced the
new policy and opium production was reduced by 96% within a year. Consequently, the U.S.
government rewarded the Taliban in May of 2001 with $43 million for their opium elimination efforts.
Peter Dale Scott noted in Drugs, Oil, and War that in 2001, after the Taliban s opium ban, 90% of the
remaining supply was controlled by a U.S. ally, the Northern Alliance. Consequently, the supply of
Afghan opium exploded in the aftermath of 9/11 because the White House was determined not to
make the same mistakes as the Soviets with a wide scale conventional war. This was a war led

The Program is in coordination with the Provincial Government of Tarlac which also gives the needed
promotional and advertising campaign with the national agency, the Department of Trade and Industry
who assist the weavers for needed training and development. It started from 12 housewives to 25
women and youths and then to 50 within a year. Handcrafting eventually became a constructive
activity for people who were once dawdling outside their homes playing cards and getting drunk the
every day.
Some weavers take their work at home with the whole family joining the making of the water lily
handicrafts. While others chooses to work at the Paniqui Livelihood Center were materials are readily
available. A household would earn roughly around three hundred pesos (Php 300) weekly during slack
season and about six hundred pesos (Php 600) weekly during peak season.
Before it became a livelihood program last August 2008, the conceptions for these water lilies are
pests to the community as it hampers the flow of water in rivers and creeks during heavy rains causing
flooding in the area. It is projected that by the fourth year of operation the total income for the workers
from handcrafting activities could increase roughly 3 times by the year 2012.

Next came the third generation in 1963; in this generation, the computer became smaller, more
influential, and more reliable and it was able to run lots diverse programs at the same time. Transistors
were reduced and placed on silicon chips, called semiconductors, which hugely increased the speed
and productivity of computers. Also, it s much smaller and cheaper compared to the second generation
computers. Because of the various improvements to the development of the computer we have seen
the computer being used in all areas of life. It is a very useful tool that will continue to experience new

Right To Privacy Essay
The right to privacy is a fundamental value of American culture. The original European colonization
of North America was done by Puritan refugees seeking the freedom to practice their religion devoid
of governmental interference. The legacy of tolerance and privacy is vital to the continuation of the
American way of life that began over 400 years ago. However, specifically during the Warren and
Burger courts of the mid 1900s, debate has arisen over the actual degree of privacy allowed in the
Constitution. Since then, the varying degree of judicial activism has shaped present day legislation and
the zone of privacy therein. This paper will illustrate my opinion for the need to distinguish ... Show

The Supreme Court interpreted the 14th Amendment, notably the due process clause and the privileges
and immunities clause to allow a citizen the right to privacy. Like the later Roe v. Wade, Griswold v.
Connecticut deals with a decision between rational adults. The decision to use contraceptives is one
exercised by logical, consenting people and affects no one but those directly involved. Such a decision
to use birth control is not a sweeping attempt to control a large population. Those who oppose these
practices claim that, with the precedent set in Griswold, the use of contraceptives will erode social
morality. This position primarily stems from religious beliefs, and therefore, the secular state in which
we live must protect against the overt influence of religion upon public domain. This, again, is an
example of a morally suspicious law. I can say that, at the time of Griswold v. Connecticut, I can
understand the state s position on the issue. Contraceptives were not very well known, nor were the
generally accepted at that point in history. Thus, those born 1960s were dubbed the Baby Boomer
generation. However, freedom of choice supersedes any suspected negative impact a law may have. In
other words, legality/legitimacy comes before morally based

Budget and Budgetary Control Practices
CHAPTER I
1.1 INTRODUCTION
Budget and budgetary control practices are undeniably indispensable as organizations routinely go
about their business activities and operations. These organizations are constantly on the alert on how
actual levels of performance agree with planned or budgeted performance. A budget expresses a plan
in monetary terms. It is prepared and approved prior to a particular budgeted period and explicitly may
show the income, expenditure and the capital to be employed by organizations in achieving their goals
and objectives.
Budgeting control practices are then devices that organizations use to regulate their budgets. The
controls are mostly comprehensive systems of budgets that aid management in carrying out its ...

1.5 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
Budget and budgetary control practices though very essential to meeting organizational goals, are
mostly hastily and improperly prepared. This eventually leads to unfulfilled budget and budgetary
control practices.
This major problem has necessitated this study to actually sensitize organizations about the need to
make sure that proper budgets and budgetary control measures are put in place to help meet
organizational goals.

The Canterbury Tales Essay
The Canterbury Tales
The Canterbury Tales, a masterpiece of English Literature, written by Geoffrey Chaucer, is a
collection, with frequent dramatic links, of 24 tales told to pass the time during a spring pilgrimage to
the shrine of St. Thomas a Becket in Canterbury. The General Prologue introduces the pilgrims, 29
sondry folk gathered at the Tabard Inn in Southwark (outside of London). Chaucer decides to join
them, taking some time to describe each pilgrim.
According to the Norton Anthology, the composition of none of the tales can be accurately dated; most
of them were written during the last fourteen years of Chaucer s life, although a few were probably
written earlier and inserted into The Canterbury Tales (Norton, 80). ... Show more content on

The Prioress, Madame Eglantine, is a character full of denial. Though she is a nun whose duties
should be pledged to God, she certainly considers herself a lady first. She speaks bad French, ate and
dressed very carefully, and wears a brooch that says love conquers all. She also cares deeply for
animals, bringing several along with her on the pilgrimage. Her lady like behavior seems to stand in
direct contrast to the ways of a good Nun. This is Chaucer s first criticism of religion, a theme he
returns to throughout the poem.
Like the Prioress, the Monk is also an ironic characterization. The Monk loved to ride horses and hunt.
He also eats well and dresses in nice clothes. He even goes so far as to say that he prefers the outdoor
life, hardly a statement one would expect from one whose profession entails sitting inside and copying
books.
The Friar is a bad guy. He is licensed to hear confessions and uses his position to beg for money,
operating under the assumption that penance works better through payment than prayers. He also has
the reputation of getting girls into trouble, then helping to marry them to others
GRAPH The Merchant knows a good bargain when he sees it. His very smooth behavior helps hide
the fact that he is really in debt.
The Clerk is soft spoken student of the thetoric arts. When he speaks, it is with such expression that
people readily listen. He is one of the most admired

Pathogenesis Of Asthma
A plethora of both genetic and environmental triggers contribute to the pathogenesis of asthma, one of
the most prevalent respiratory diseases in the world (Burney et al, 2015). Studies have found
environmental, physical and allergic triggers lead to exacerbation of disease in suffering populations.
Similarly, in the last decade, advances in genetic research has lead to studies linking variation within
specific genes and a vulnerability to developing asthma. Understanding asthma associated triggers has
the potential to contribute to successful disease management and treatment and is critical to
uncovering the pathogenesis and etiology of asthma.

Summary Of Chris Mccandless And Henry David Thoreau
To some, adventurers like Chris McCandless are young, idealistic, and resolute people with high
moral standards. They want to take everything they can out of life, and they want to experience every
facet of it. However, this isn t a view everyone shares. To others, McCandless was an irrational kid
with no experience who couldn t handle his family issues. On the other hand, Henry David Thoreau is
viewed as a calm, steady, and contemplative man with a dedicated love of nature. Chris McCandless
and Henry David Thoreau share many similarities, but they also have defining differences. Chris was
different from Thoreau because he was running from his past whereas Thoreau wanted to go to the
woods, and Chris overestimated himself whereas Thoreau was more level headed, but they were
similar in that they both didn t believe in material objects. Chris went into the wild because he wanted
to escape his past and because of his general hatred towards prejudice against society, while Thoreau
was more positively motivated to go to the wilderness. His motivation to go to the woods was
negative because he was running away from something. Although his friends and family described
him as very independent and motivated to go against everything he was taught, his real motivation
was because of his family struggles. Chris s father, Walt, never fully divorced his ex wife, Marcia, and
he still had relations with her despite being married to Billie. When Billie found out, she was very
hurt, and so were Walt and Marcia. However, to make amends, Walt finalized the divorce with Marcia.
They resolved the problem and moved on. When Chris unearthed this truth, he was unbelievably
upset, but he didn t address it directly. Instead, he waited years to talk about it, occasionally shunning
his parents and judging them behind their backs. Chris was very self righteous, and he took every
opportunity to denounce his father even though the issue of the divorce had been resolved. He
expressed his anger in a very passive way, and because he never found real closure, his anger
accumulated. He decided to release his anger indirectly. This is why he took classes on racial
inequality, and why he was so mad about poverty in the United States. His outrage

Sister Act Sparknotes
The Academy showcases their annual musical. The Sister Act begins with the protagonist, Deloris,
who has ambitions of becoming the next big thing. Her life turns upside down when she catches her
significant other murdering one of his employees. In order to secure safety, the police hide her in a
convent. There, we meet the other sisters including Mother Superior who despises Deloris. However,
Deloris saved the church by reconstructing their choir. As for the murderous husband, he was caught
by the police when attending one of the mass ceremonies. The protagonist is Deloris Van Cartier who
initially wanted to pursue a singing career. Sister Mary Robert was the youngest out of the others. She
is a shy and innocent character who metamorphoses into a bold and confident sister. Unlike Sister
Mary Robert, Sister Mary Patrick is always an outgoing and spontaneous character. Mother Superior
acts as an antagonist for most of the performance. Lt. Eddie Souther is the policeman who helps
Deloris and captures the primary antagonist who is Vince LaRocca. ... Show more content on

This is mainly due to the blocking and how boring the scene often got. The majority of the scene
consisted of the characters sitting in the pews. This is the same concept for the sleeping scene. I could

play are the singings and the ability that every main character could hit the notes. I do not recall any
moments when the actors messed up or forgot their lines. Particularly, I was impressed by Pablo who

The Role Of Media On Influencing The Way People Perceive...
Introduction Public knowledge of a crime is predominantly obtained from the media. Crime related
media such as crime on the news and crime dramas has proven to serve as a great impact in how
countless individuals feel about the world surrounding them, and even more importantly, how they
feel about the criminals portrayed by the media. This research paper examines the role the media plays
on influencing the way people perceive the relationship and punitive attitudes between race and crime.
In my hypothesis, I believe that the majority of the participants in this research will presumably
perceive Blacks/ African Americans as criminals. The reason I presume participants will most likely
steer towards Blacks/ African Americans being criminals is for the reason that recently there has been
numerous encounters of police brutality portrayed in the media. Police officers have been under
critical observation due to the excessive reports relating to brutality, discrimination, and self defense.
The way the media illustrates these stories on the news, shapes and constructs criminals and their
crime based on age, gender and ethnicity to society. Thereby, this has led societies to question the role
of the media and crime and has led to many debates about the effects of the media on individuals and
on crimes. The survey created to conduct this research consists of twelve questions. Males and
females were asked to take this survey and later the results were evaluated side to side to

This worksheet demonstrates another way I asked my students to construct knowledge; by examining
a document (in this case a difficult, non narrative poem) for its details, to try to sum those details to
meaning (comprehension) and to try to figure out how the student knew how to sum those details
(metacognition). While the practical, classroom end of this worksheet was a brainstorm regarding the
details of the poem and an increasingly specific investigation of the diversity of potential meanings in
the poem, by allowing my students to write before speaking to gather their thoughts and ideas before
even a spoken brainstorm I allowed each of my students to feel as though they had something to
contribute to the class and to the classes construction of a reading (or a series of readings!) of the
poem. Allowing students to chart the known, this activity ultimately allowed my students to make the
leap to charting a small section of ideas that were, before this activity, unknown. Before students can
trust each other enough to share their ideas and to construct knowledge with each other the teacher
must engage students in activities to foster classroom community. During Brown Summer High

Kim Kardashian Stereotypes
There isn t one single reality television show or reality t.v. show star in particular that is stereotyped to
a typical standard, though as reality television stars gain more popularity and try to build their brands,
to have the perfect body is often the stereotype that all genders go through. Transsexual and
transgendered celebrities have also spoke about the necessity to display the perfect body because they
were born men, and have to exceed women, when speaking about beauty, just to fit in. Everyone loves
to use the Kardashians as an example so why not. Kim Kardashian from Keeping Up With The
Kardashians is known for her perfect hour glass figure with large breasts, a tiny waist, and bigger than
average booty (and yes I said booty!). She is regarded as many for having the perfect body, and other
women have felt the pressure to emulate her body in order to achieve the same vanity appeal. ... Show

how women more so than men, use cosmetic surgery to enhance their body so that they fit in with the

e of 1914. However, on the day of Christmas Eve of 1914, many sections of the western front share
peace through an unauthorized truce. The Scottish, German and French troops peacefully meet each
other in the area of No Man s land where gunshots would usually instantly kill their opponent. The
truce allows everyone to bury the men who have died from the war. More events take place as men
play soccer together to show respect. Singing also takes place as christmas trees are set up in the
trenches. The superiors become aware of this official truce which causes all of the soldiers that have
partaken in the Western front truce to face heavy punishment for their acts. The movie Joyeux Noël

The movie showed a large area for soldiers to play soccer together. The opposing war teams would
often go together to play soccer. However, reports show that the conditions of the ground as well as
the barbed wire and more made it very unlikely for an organized game of soccer to take place. There is
no evidence from unit war diaries and regimental histories that the soccer games have taken place.
This is a significant historical inaccuracy because the soccer scene was a major scene that showed
how close the soldiers were able to get. This largely impacts the movie because like the other evidence
mentioned earlier, the audience will not be able to comprehend the motions of the soldiers if this scene
were to be removed. This scene was important because it emphasized the war relationship and defined
how every soldier was just a regular human who is forced to fight. Furthermore, the movie shows the
trenches looking not in bad terms. The movie showed soldiers being fairly clean and comfortable. The
soldiers were seen fairly clean and were not suffering any diseases. However, in WWI, the trenches
were very dirty as it was an area where soldiers slept, ate, fought, got sick and went to the bathroom
in. All of this was done in one area, the trenches. There were rats and lices in the trenches

The Rise and Fall of the Aztec Civilization Essay
The Rise and Fall of the Aztec Civilization
The Rise and fall of the Aztec Empire is possibly the most important area of study in the modern
world. Of all of the nomadic tribes who migrated into Mexico, the Aztecs were one of the last. At first
driven away by established tribes, the Aztecs slowly began to develop an empire of immense wealth
and power by the late fifteenth century. Due in large part to the accomplishments of their ruler
Itzcoatl, the empire expanded to include millions of people from a number of different tribes,
including the Cempoala, who would later aid the Spanish in defeating the Aztecs. Because of the
melting pot within the empire, the Aztecs had a very diverse culture. However, this immense Aztec

Fearful of the Spanish, and hateful of the wealth and power of the Aztecs, some of the native tribes,
particularly the Cempoala and others from the cities of Tlaxcala and Tezcoca, joined forces with
Cortes. After the Spaniards annihilated the Cholultecas, the terrified people of the Aztec empire did
their best to please them, as the Europeans made their way inland.
By the time Cortes reached Tenochititlan, he had accumulated a large number of allies. Believing that
Cortes was indeed Quetzalcoatl, Montezuma greeted the Spanish as if they were gods. Cortes
responded, We have come to your house in Mexico as friends. There is nothing to fear. Nevertheless,
Cortes kept Montezuma under guard. Instead of resisting, Montezuma did everything he could to
please the Spanish, ordering his servants to supply everything that Cortes requested. Montezuma s
weakness to the Spanish angered many of his followers, who began to lose respect for their king.
Cortes and his men were amazed by the splendor of the Aztec capital. The Spaniards greed would then
lead them to carry out unprovoked attacks on Aztec temples and military leaders. Cortes then had
Montezuma instruct his angry people not to retaliate, declaring that the Spanish were too powerful and
could not be resisted. However, this angered the Aztecs even more, both at the Spanish and
Montezuma. As advanced as the Aztecs were, they were no match for the Spanish forces. The Spanish

How do the concepts explored in this unit build upon skills previously learned? In what ways will this
unit have opportunities for student engagement that focus on student interest, characteristics and/or
culture? The content in this unit will set up young scholars to navigate and describe the world around
them. Shapes are everywhere! Shapes can be used to communicate important information throughout
their lives. Geometry can also lay the groundwork for future math such as solving for the missing
angle. The concepts in this unit connect to the end of the year math goals for students as they, too, are
based upon the common core standards. By the time students enter first grade, they should be able to
identify and describe shapes as well as analyze, compare, create, and compose shapes. The concepts
explored in this unit do not rely heavily on prior knowledge. Though students should have had some
exposure (formally or informally) to shapes, they likely have not been taught to this extent. They will,
however, need to utilize their counting and categorizing skills. This unit will have ample opportunities
for student engagement. Children at this age both need and enjoy movement. Throughout this

We All Looked Up
I am reading We All Looked Up by Tommy Wallach and I am on page 410. So far this book is about
the perspectives of different high school kids when there is news of a chance of a meteor destroying
earth. In the book the reader is able to see how different people react to the situation. The reader also
gets to see how the kids see each other and what is actually happening in their life. With only a
potential week left to live the world has started to go crazy with the anticipation. In this journal I will
be evaluating and questioning.

One of the two possible answers is that the meteor will hit earth. If the meteor hits earth the world
would end and everything on earth would cease to exist. All time for these characters would stop and
the story would just end there. The lesson throughout the whole book would be proven true by the
characters. The lesson to live life to the fullest with no regrets and that sometimes people just need to
realize that they need to always make life worth living. In the book Eliza says If it all ends within this
next week, would I have any regrets (Wallach 392). With death being right around the corner the
reader is really able to see the characters change and be who they really want to be. The only other
answer to the question would be that the meteor misses. If the meteor misses then people would
continue with their lives. It would take a while for everyone to recover and bring themselves back
from the chaos and anarchy that was happening. People would have to take time to get the world back
in order and have everything run like it did before the meteor. With the meteor not hitting the would
be a giant elephant in the room for the whole world. In the book Peter says If the meteor doesn t hit
would anyone mention it? (Wallach 347). That has been my biggest question so far while I have been

The Importance Of The Stock Market
2017 was a great year for all three stock market indexes. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 25
percent, the S P 500 is up 19 percent, and the NASDAQ is up 28 percent. The increases in these
markets reflected a booming U.S. economy and excellent corporate profits. The expectation of
President Trump signing a tax cut bill, which he signed a few days before Christmas, also fueled the
rise in the stock market.
One of the things this tax cut bill offers is a lowering of the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 21
percent. Because of this, American businesses are expected to return hundreds of billions of dollars in
foreign profits back to the U.S., higher more workers, spend money on building domestic factories,
and pay down debts. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You may see terms like investing, saving, and trading used interchangeably, but these terms have
different meanings. Investing involves having a long term goal of five or more years where you are
looking to maximize profits with a reasonable amount of risk. Saving can either be short term or long
term, but unlike investing, saving involves little to no risk. Saving is more about preserving capital
rather than growing capital. Trading involves short term ownership of stocks. Ownership can be
anywhere from a few minutes to one year. Traders analyze stocks like investors, but traders are more
interested in short term swings in the market for immediate profits. If you are looking to secure your
financial future, it is best to invest.

Starbuck s Missions, Values and Principles
Starbuck s missions, values, and principles are directly related to their generic strategy of broad
differentiation. Each one of these elements explains how Starbucks is just not offering just coffee, but
an experience. In the stores, they complement this by bringing several items to the table (product
variety). In addition, Starbucks has positioned themselves in the focus differentiation and
treacherously close to best supply category. Starbucks has used the Verismo to position themselves
back into the focus section because it is a specialty item that Starbucks aficionados might want in their
home. However, Starbucks is going against the grain with the Via products because of its low costs.
This is risky because people buy Starbuck for the experience and the high quality coffee, not because
it is cheap. Starbuck has entered into these other categories through partnerships and joint ventures.
These relationships make sense, because every partnership is with a company in an industry related to
Starbuck s industry (e.g. Pepsi, Kraft, Unilever, Green Mountain etc.). Starbucks does not enter into
partnerships with only one company; but collaborates with many companies, that are the respective
leaders in their industry. The coffee company uses many of their partners as guides to learn from, and
build relationships in a particular industry. Strategically this makes sense because Starbucks is gaining
knowledge and not spending a major amount of money. Therefore, when the

Maternity Leave In Ohio
The advantages are social and cultural, giving the mother time to destress and care for her baby, while
also taking the stress of earning money away. New mothers and families will gain the security and
safety of paid maternity leave, resulting in a better future for our state, our country. An economical
advantage is for the mothers and families who will be financially stable during this time and without
the worry of earning money they need to provide necessary, basic needs to the newborn. By
implementing this solution, lower and middle class families of Ohio are better cared for and women
get the rights they deserve. All in all, the solution will bring many positive changes to our state. The
disadvantages are mostly economical for businesses, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An alternative solution is that one company decided to create a program to both allow mothers time
with their child while at the same time being able to advance in their careers. Inkwell implemented a
program where mothers would work almost as if part time and still have paid leave. They would spend
about 20 hours in the work week working and the rest of the time they would spend raising their
newborn. Not only does this help the woman s career keep moving, but it also helps her spend time
properly caring for her child. The program allows for flexibility in their schedules so they can focus on
both work and family, without putting one in front of the other. While this is progress for the issue, it
only pertains to the one company. The rest of America needs to get on board. Some of the advantages
to Inkwell s solution include the family is being supported financially, the mother can continue
improving in her career, stress is taken off of the mother because of the flexible schedule, and the
company doesn t completely lose a worker. The disadvantages of Inkwell s solution include that while
the mothers are still working part time, the employer would still need to hire and pay new employees
to fill the spots while the mothers aren t working. Another alternative solution was developed when
Marisa Torrieri wrote a Forbes article about how unpaid maternity leave could work, if the mother
takes some things into consideration. Since money is one of the main things that mothers are worried
about by taking a leave, Torrieri highlights ways to ensure the money doesn t become a problem. The
first thing a mother can do is take extra work at their job before the baby comes so they can be
financially sound during the leave. She also states that some employers may be willing to give an
employee paid leave, but most mothers are reluctant to ask. She mentions practicing saving

Many people believe that The Earth s sixth mass extinction is already underway. They also believe

Theme Of Death On The Nile, And Then There Were None
In her novels Death on the Nile and And Then There Were None Agatha Christie uses foreshadowing
and both external and internal conflict to portray the theme of her novel, the idea that justice will
always triumph. In Death on the Nile Poiret undertakes the position of bringing about what s due to
the guilty character. At the same time in And Then There Were None the protagonist is unclear
because while Justice Wargrave is the one seeking justice, his methods are flawed. Agatha Christie
uses mystery in both of her books to emphasize how the truth will come out in the end. This is clearly
shown in Death on The Nile where the outcome is clear cut while And Then There Were None is
undefined and elusive. Although both books use morbid and unethical methods of showing their

Ethical Problems With Drones
Ethical Problems with Drone Usage Drones are a new and versatile technology with a multitude of
positive commercial, private, and governmental uses. They are much more than just an invasion of

Drone Use Tim Yakaitis of Connecticut uses drones for filming property for real estate listings and
other services in his company DroneOn (Townsend, 2014). A simple quadcopter drone with a GoPro
camera hanging underneath, is all that is necessary for him to run this niche business, which he

drones are a reasonably new niche for public drone use, due to the recent innovation of working quad
rotor drones versus the typical single fixed blade like a helicopter (Rothstein, 2015). Quad rotor

Cognitive Behaviorism And Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Chapter VIII.
Cognitive Behaviorism
Cognitive behaviorism has been highly embraced by popular culture and managed care, partly because
it offers quick fixes into behavioral problems and emotional distresses. Often times, students are
confused by the terminologies cognitive and cognitive behaviorism. To add to the confusion, there is
also cognitive therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. These terms are sometimes used
interchangeably in literature, but there are slight differences. Cognitive therapy is a specific type of
therapy technique developed by Aaron Beck in the 1960s. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a group of
therapy techniques that share similar theoretical and practical elements in counseling. Some of them
are presented later in this chapter. Both Cognitive therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy are
grouped under the field of cognitive psychology or the pragmatic school of thought, also called
cognitive approach. All of which have their roots in behaviorism. Counselors typically prefer the term
cognitive behaviorism because change in cognition impacts change in emotions and behaviors. It is
this key element that therapists strive to reach with their patients. In other words, simply changing the
cognition without changing the behavior or emotions associated with that cognition is futile.
1. Main Assumption: Individual s maladaptive emotions and behaviors are caused by their faulty ways
of thinking (cognitions).
2. Human Nature: Cognitive behaviorists believe

Whether Aphrodisiacs Pose A Mental Or Physical Stimulation...
Aphrodisiacs in the Body and Mind
An Aphrodisiac is defined a substance such as foods, drinks, or drugs, that cause or increase sexual
desire (Aphrodisiacs, n.d.). This paper will investigate whether aphrodisiacs pose a mental or physical
stimulation on the human body. It has been recorded that in multiple points of history, many things
were considered aphrodisiac, some of these things include potatoes. Aphrodisiacs have Greek origins,
deriving from the Greek word aphryodisiakos meaning sexual gem with aphrodisiac properties, from
aphrodisiac heterosexual pleasures form the neuter plural of aphrodisios of Aphrodite; greek goddess
of love and fertility (Aphrodisiacs, n.d.). The first aphrodisiac recorded in human history was body
odor, and potions were sold in ancient Rome. Aphrodisiacs were considered a threat to chastity after
the Roman Empire ended, which prompted the church to outlaw several aphrodisiacs. Western
civilizations such as the Incans and Aztecs used aphrodisiacs for reproductive purposes and Asia
utilized plants and insects as aphrodisiacs in order to increase their sexual libido. Aphrodisiacs have
shown to be dynamic in culture and practices, and also in the utilization within diverse groups of
people. Aphrodisiacs remain a topic of study for researches today, as they explore how various senses
of the body affect sexual arousal. Asia is believed to be the top consumer of aphrodisiacs, while other

The Glorification Of Dying Young
The Glorification of Dying Young The poem To an Athlete Dying Young by A. E. Housman depicts
the funeral of a young champion runner, who has died at the peak of his youth and athletic career. The
poem makes note of the sorrow of a young life being cut short, but also glorifies the death of the
athlete for capturing the young runner in the prime of his life. Housman s poem was written in the
form of the classical lyric poem, which could be influenced by Housman s early tutoring in Greek and
Latin lyric poetry (Holzberger 4). The poem also makes use of a four line ballad stanza, which
Housman forms into an elegy for the young runner as he reflects on the runner s death (Holzberger 7).

The poem shifts to the present with the second stanza, which depicts the runner being carried once

Overview 1). The townspeople come together again, but this time they are Townsman of a stiller town
(Housman 2013). The poem highlights the theme of early death as the young runner is put to rest for a
final time, and Housman makes it clear through his writing of the sorrow that townspeople feel
towards the young life being cut short. The theme of early death is accompanied by sorrow in
Housman s poem, and can be seen as a reflection of Housman s own experiences with death
throughout his life (Holzberger 2 5). The death of Housman s mother, Sarah Jane Housman, on his
twelfth birthday showcases the early death of the poet s mother, and what William G. Holzberger
believed was a first of many personal catastrophes that would poison the poet s chances of a normal
and happy life (Holzberger 2). The poem presents a young runner in the prime of his life, and much
like Housman s mother, they were both suddenly taken by death. Another instance of early death in
Housman s life was that of his close friend Adalbert Jackson (Holzberger 5). The death of Jackson,
who was also in his prime, mirrors that of the young runner s death, and highlights the theme of early
death in the poem as well as the poet s own life. The poem makes a subtle shift in the third stanza

nonhuman in the nonmodern constitution of the democracy of things: [t]he destiny of the starving
multitudes and the fate of our poor planet are connected by the same Gordian knot that no Alexander
will ever again manage to sever (50). The concern with vulnerable ecological and social networks puts
Latour in range of Jeff Stout s observation about the social stratification of environmental injury: rain
falls on the just and the unjust, but hurricanes mainly devastate the already destitute (Stout, 2010). (On
this note, we should also think about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Getting at this concern, Latour asserts again the promise of the nonmodern constitution in terms of the
problems of modern temporality: The past [in the modern constitution] was the confusion of things
and men; the future is what will no longer confuse them (71). I take Latour to be criticizing the
modern constitution s location of the (more realized) human in the future. It s not yet clear, however,
how attending to mediation and purification changes things. How might quasi subject and quasi object
status be less susceptible to modern structures of violence? Latour addresses these concerns most
constructively in the conclusion in terms of redistribution. He writes that in order to amend the
constitution, we need not to affirm the death of man, but simply relocate the human. Which is to say,
the human can no longer be defined in terms of essences, by its contrast to the nonhuman, or
according to the modern temporality of progress. Instead, the human must be understood as a delegate
within various networks, a worker of mediation, a weaver of morphisms (137). The human is not
altogether formless, but cannot be understood in isolation from nonhuman collectives. On these terms,
to understand Katrina or the situation in Flint, one needs to draw lines of connection between the
social life of the environment and the ecological distribution of the humans. The injustices of these
situations, for Latour, cohere within the failure of human and nonhuman networks. In any case, this
text is suggestive for further questions about the relation between trans and posthumanist discourse
and critical theories of the human (e.g., race, gender, sexuality,

Mental Health Among College Students Essay
Mental health among college students has been proven to be a relevant social issue that our society
faces. There are certainly a few different institutions that play a large role within the development of
this social issue. The first institution, and the primary institution at play with this issue, is the higher
education system. In terms of mental health and having access to resources, college students haven t
always been as lucky as they are today. One study in 2007 explains the story of Junior at Syracuse
University (Kravets, 3081). Anita Rutman had a history of mental health issues; she even found
herself being admitted to a mental health hospital. One morning in February, she threw herself off of
the eighth floor of Boland Hall and landed on a patio and fortunately lived. However, her attempt
stemmed from the university sending her letter three days prior that informed Anita that the school
was planning to dismiss her because of her suicidal tendencies (Kravets, 3081). Anita later sued
Syracuse for ten million dollars for malpractice and negligence in handling her condition. Situations
like Anita s could be considered as part of the reason why the mental health of college students has
become so prevalent. This research was conducted in 2007 and currently in 2016, 9 years later, there is
a different out look on this issue as a whole, but it clearly wasn t always like it was today. Kravets
research states that, policies ranges from voluntary counseling programs that

The Size Of A Tiny House
Less is More
According to the Census Bureau, the average American home is about 2,600 square feet. While
national home size continues to rise, there is a growing population of Americans in favor of small and
tiny houses. Reality TV shows including Tiny House Hunting, Tiny House Building, Tiny House
Nation, and Tiny House, Big Living, have brought national attention to the movement. A typical tiny
house falls between 100 and 400 square feet. The tiny house movement is one possible solution for
individual financial and environmental concerns. Most tiny homeowners also cite a simpler lifestyle as
a main factor for choosing to live tiny.
One of the greatest benefits of living in a tiny house is the relatively low cost. The average tiny house
costs around $50,000 but can cost significantly more or less depending on building materials used,
location, and luxuries included. Forbes estimates the cost at $200 to $400 per square foot. This makes
tiny houses a great option for people who can t afford a downpayment on a larger home, but would
rather be putting their money towards owning something rather than paying rent. DIY homebuilders
accumulate expenses over time throughout the building process rather than all at once, which works
well as long as you have somewhere else to live in the meantime. Tiny houses are often seen as a way
to pay off loans or live debt free with the opportunity to spend less time working.
Prefabricated homes can be purchased at nearly every stage of

Henry VIII and His Six Wives Essay examples
Henry VIII and His Six Wives Henry VIII married his brother s widow, Catherine of Aragon, in a
political marriage (much like most weddings of the time). When Catherine of Aragon had stillborn
children as well as early infancy deaths to all of their children, except Mary, Henry VIII began to
worry that he would not have a son to heir the thrown. He began to petition the court for an
annulment, so that we could marry his mistress Ann of Boleyn. At first Catherine, was kept in the dark
of Henry s plans, he was using the text of Leviticus to justify his annulment. In the book of Leviticus,
it states that if a man takes his brother s wife they shall remain childless. Even though they had a
healthy daughter, Mary, this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anne knew she had to produce a son but had two miscarriages shortly after Elizabeth s birth. Anne s
enemies in the court began to plot against her, using the fact that the King still did not have a male heir
to the thrown and the fact that the King had turned his attentions to Jane Seymour, one of Anne s
ladies in waiting. Anne and her brother, George, as well as many other people were brought up on
charges of treason and adultery (on Anne s part). They were sentenced to death. Shortly after Anne s
death the marriage was dissolved and declared invalid. The curious question here was how could Anne
of committed adultery if she had never been married to the King? Within 24 hours of Anne s death
Jane Seymour and Henry VIII was betrothed. In 1537 King Henry VIII finally got his long sought
over son, Price Edward. Jane Seymour died just two weeks after Edwards s birth. Jane, in the end,
would be the only of Henry s six wives that was buried with him. The split from Rome had made
England vulnerable and Thomas Cromwell had suggested his next wife to be of a political match,
much like the first. Anne of Clebes was the chosen match. The marriage took place on January 6,
1540, and by then Henry was already looking for ways to get out of the marriage. The King did not
find his new bride attractive and had found an attraction to a young Kathryn Howard. Anne gave the
King no problems with his annulment proceedings. Sixteen days after Henry was free

  • 2. Drug Trafficking Violations This story was essentially censored by the U.S. media. The few American outlets that covered the story focused upon the corruption aspect with Mexican officials and the CIA s complicity in the drug trade. After all, such a story is now no longer quite as controversial with the help of a simple google search. However, in 2015 LA Weekly was the first to print the full extent of Hector Berrellez s accusations. According to Berrellez, his sources explicitly named the infamous CIA agent, Félix Rodríguez, as the man who ordered the murder. If these findings are accurate, then this unveils an extra level of the lawlessness by the agency. The Taliban inflicted a reign even more brutal and fundamentalist than that of Hekmatyar. Unlike Hekmatyar, the Taliban differed in their hopes for a ban on opium, expressly for religious reasons and likely to suppress the finances of their rival warlords. The Taliban initially implemented an opium ban after gaining power, but the policy was quickly overturned because they feared a violent uprising by the masses. After all, an Afghan farmer can make $10,000 a year with opium compared to about $400 a year with legal crops. As a result, Afghanistan remained the primary source for the global heroin supply. However, the Taliban eventually decided to reinstate the ban on opium in 2000 in hopes that their government would gain international recognition. Accordingly, the Taliban strictly enforced the new policy and opium production was reduced by 96% within a year. Consequently, the U.S. government rewarded the Taliban in May of 2001 with $43 million for their opium elimination efforts. Peter Dale Scott noted in Drugs, Oil, and War that in 2001, after the Taliban s opium ban, 90% of the remaining supply was controlled by a U.S. ally, the Northern Alliance. Consequently, the supply of Afghan opium exploded in the aftermath of 9/11 because the White House was determined not to make the same mistakes as the Soviets with a wide scale conventional war. The original European colonization of North America was done by Puritan refugees seeking the freedom to practice their religion devoid of governmental interference. The legacy of tolerance and privacy is vital to the continuation of the American way of life that began over 400 years ago. However, specifically during the Warren and Burger courts of the mid 1900s, debate has arisen over the actual degree of privacy allowed in the Constitution. Since then, the varying degree of judicial activism has shaped present day legislation and the zone of privacy therein. This paper will illustrate my opinion for the need to distinguish ... The Supreme Court interpreted the 14th Amendment, notably the due process clause and the privileges and immunities clause to allow a citizen the right to privacy. Like the later Roe v. Wade, Griswold v. Connecticut deals with a decision between rational adults. The decision to use contraceptives is one exercised by logical, consenting people and affects no one but those directly involved. Such a decision to use birth control is not a sweeping attempt to control a large population. Those who oppose these practices claim that, with the precedent set in Griswold, the use of contraceptives will erode social morality. This position primarily stems from religious beliefs, and therefore, the secular state in which we live must protect against the overt influence of religion upon public domain. This, again, is an example of a morally suspicious law. I can say that, at the time of Griswold v. Connecticut, I can understand the state s position on the issue. Contraceptives were not very well known, nor were the generally accepted at that point in history. Thus, those born 1960s were dubbed the Baby Boomer generation. However, freedom of choice supersedes any suspected negative impact a law may have. In other words, legality/legitimacy comes before morally based ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Budget and Budgetary Control Practices CHAPTER I 1.1 INTRODUCTION Budget and budgetary control practices are undeniably indispensable as organizations routinely go about their business activities and operations. These organizations are constantly on the alert on how actual levels of performance agree with planned or budgeted performance. A budget expresses a plan in monetary terms. It is prepared and approved prior to a particular budgeted period and explicitly may show the income, expenditure and the capital to be employed by organizations in achieving their goals and objectives. Budgeting control practices are then devices that organizations use to regulate their budgets. The controls are mostly comprehensive systems of budgets that aid management in carrying out its ... • 10. The Canterbury Tales Essay The Canterbury Tales The Canterbury Tales, a masterpiece of English Literature, written by Geoffrey Chaucer, is a collection, with frequent dramatic links, of 24 tales told to pass the time during a spring pilgrimage to the shrine of St. Thomas a Becket in Canterbury. The General Prologue introduces the pilgrims, 29 sondry folk gathered at the Tabard Inn in Southwark (outside of London). Chaucer decides to join them, taking some time to describe each pilgrim. According to the Norton Anthology, the composition of none of the tales can be accurately dated; most of them were written during the last fourteen years of Chaucer s life, although a few were probably written earlier and inserted into The Canterbury Tales (Norton, 80). ... Though she is a nun whose duties should be pledged to God, she certainly considers herself a lady first. She speaks bad French, ate and dressed very carefully, and wears a brooch that says love conquers all. She also cares deeply for animals, bringing several along with her on the pilgrimage. Her lady like behavior seems to stand in direct contrast to the ways of a good Nun. This is Chaucer s first criticism of religion, a theme he returns to throughout the poem. Like the Prioress, the Monk is also an ironic characterization. The Monk loved to ride horses and hunt. He also eats well and dresses in nice clothes. He even goes so far as to say that he prefers the outdoor life, hardly a statement one would expect from one whose profession entails sitting inside and copying books. The Friar is a bad guy. He is licensed to hear confessions and uses his position to beg for money, operating under the assumption that penance works better through payment than prayers. He also has the reputation of getting girls into trouble, then helping to marry them to others GRAPH The Merchant knows a good bargain when he sees it. • 14. Summary Of Chris Mccandless And Henry David Thoreau To some, adventurers like Chris McCandless are young, idealistic, and resolute people with high moral standards. They want to take everything they can out of life, and they want to experience every facet of it. However, this isn t a view everyone shares. To others, McCandless was an irrational kid with no experience who couldn t handle his family issues. On the other hand, Henry David Thoreau is viewed as a calm, steady, and contemplative man with a dedicated love of nature. Chris McCandless and Henry David Thoreau share many similarities, but they also have defining differences. Chris was different from Thoreau because he was running from his past whereas Thoreau wanted to go to the woods, and Chris overestimated himself whereas Thoreau was more level headed, but they were similar in that they both didn t believe in material objects. Chris went into the wild because he wanted to escape his past and because of his general hatred towards prejudice against society, while Thoreau was more positively motivated to go to the wilderness. His motivation to go to the woods was negative because he was running away from something. Although his friends and family described him as very independent and motivated to go against everything he was taught, his real motivation was because of his family struggles. Chris s father, Walt, never fully divorced his ex wife, Marcia, and he still had relations with her despite being married to Billie. When Billie found out, she was very hurt, and so were Walt and Marcia. However, to make amends, Walt finalized the divorce with Marcia. They resolved the problem and moved on. When Chris unearthed this truth, he was unbelievably upset, but he didn t address it directly. Instead, he waited years to talk about it, occasionally shunning his parents and judging them behind their backs. Chris was very self righteous, and he took every opportunity to denounce his father even though the issue of the divorce had been resolved. He expressed his anger in a very passive way, and because he never found real closure, his anger accumulated. He decided to release his anger indirectly. This is why he took classes on racial inequality, and why he was so mad about poverty in the United States. His outrage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. The Role Of Media On Influencing The Way People Perceive... Introduction Public knowledge of a crime is predominantly obtained from the media. Crime related media such as crime on the news and crime dramas has proven to serve as a great impact in how countless individuals feel about the world surrounding them, and even more importantly, how they feel about the criminals portrayed by the media. This research paper examines the role the media plays on influencing the way people perceive the relationship and punitive attitudes between race and crime. In my hypothesis, I believe that the majority of the participants in this research will presumably perceive Blacks/ African Americans as criminals. The reason I presume participants will most likely steer towards Blacks/ African Americans being criminals is for the reason that recently there has been numerous encounters of police brutality portrayed in the media. Police officers have been under critical observation due to the excessive reports relating to brutality, discrimination, and self defense. The way the media illustrates these stories on the news, shapes and constructs criminals and their crime based on age, gender and ethnicity to society. Thereby, this has led societies to question the role of the media and crime and has led to many debates about the effects of the media on individuals and on crimes. The survey created to conduct this research consists of twelve questions. Males and females were asked to take this survey and later the results were evaluated side to side to ... While the practical, classroom end of this worksheet was a brainstorm regarding the details of the poem and an increasingly specific investigation of the diversity of potential meanings in the poem, by allowing my students to write before speaking to gather their thoughts and ideas before even a spoken brainstorm I allowed each of my students to feel as though they had something to contribute to the class and to the classes construction of a reading (or a series of readings!) of the poem. Each one of these elements explains how Starbucks is just not offering just coffee, but an experience. In the stores, they complement this by bringing several items to the table (product variety). In addition, Starbucks has positioned themselves in the focus differentiation and treacherously close to best supply category. Starbucks has used the Verismo to position themselves back into the focus section because it is a specialty item that Starbucks aficionados might want in their home. However, Starbucks is going against the grain with the Via products because of its low costs. This is risky because people buy Starbuck for the experience and the high quality coffee, not because it is cheap. Starbuck has entered into these other categories through partnerships and joint ventures. These relationships make sense, because every partnership is with a company in an industry related to Starbuck s industry (e.g. Pepsi, Kraft, Unilever, Green Mountain etc.). Starbucks does not enter into partnerships with only one company; but collaborates with many companies, that are the respective leaders in their industry. Not only does this help the woman s career keep moving, but it also helps her spend time properly caring for her child. The program allows for flexibility in their schedules so they can focus on both work and family, without putting one in front of the other. While this is progress for the issue, it only pertains to the one company. The rest of America needs to get on board. Some of the advantages to Inkwell s solution include the family is being supported financially, the mother can continue improving in her career, stress is taken off of the mother because of the flexible schedule, and the company doesn t completely lose a worker. At the same time in And Then There Were None the protagonist is unclear because while Justice Wargrave is the one seeking justice, his methods are flawed. Agatha Christie uses mystery in both of her books to emphasize how the truth will come out in the end. • 36. Cognitive Behaviorism And Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Chapter VIII. Cognitive Behaviorism Cognitive behaviorism has been highly embraced by popular culture and managed care, partly because it offers quick fixes into behavioral problems and emotional distresses. Often times, students are confused by the terminologies cognitive and cognitive behaviorism. To add to the confusion, there is also cognitive therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. These terms are sometimes used interchangeably in literature, but there are slight differences. Cognitive therapy is a specific type of therapy technique developed by Aaron Beck in the 1960s. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a group of therapy techniques that share similar theoretical and practical elements in counseling. Some of them are presented later in this chapter. Both Cognitive therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy are grouped under the field of cognitive psychology or the pragmatic school of thought, also called cognitive approach. All of which have their roots in behaviorism. Counselors typically prefer the term cognitive behaviorism because change in cognition impacts change in emotions and behaviors. It is this key element that therapists strive to reach with their patients. In other words, simply changing the cognition without changing the behavior or emotions associated with that cognition is futile. 1. Main Assumption: Individual s maladaptive emotions and behaviors are caused by their faulty ways of thinking (cognitions). 2. Human Nature: Cognitive behaviorists believe ... Aphrodisiacs in the Body and Mind An Aphrodisiac is defined a substance such as foods, drinks, or drugs, that cause or increase sexual desire (Aphrodisiacs, n.d.). This paper will investigate whether aphrodisiacs pose a mental or physical stimulation on the human body. It has been recorded that in multiple points of history, many things were considered aphrodisiac, some of these things include potatoes. Aphrodisiacs have Greek origins, deriving from the Greek word aphryodisiakos meaning sexual gem with aphrodisiac properties, from aphrodisiac heterosexual pleasures form the neuter plural of aphrodisios of Aphrodite; greek goddess of love and fertility (Aphrodisiacs, n.d.). The first aphrodisiac recorded in human history was body odor, and potions were sold in ancient Rome. Aphrodisiacs were considered a threat to chastity after the Roman Empire ended, which prompted the church to outlaw several aphrodisiacs. Western civilizations such as the Incans and Aztecs used aphrodisiacs for reproductive purposes and Asia utilized plants and insects as aphrodisiacs in order to increase their sexual libido. Aphrodisiacs have shown to be dynamic in culture and practices, and also in the utilization within diverse groups of people. Aphrodisiacs remain a topic of study for researches today, as they explore how various senses of the body affect sexual arousal. • 38. The Glorification Of Dying Young The Glorification of Dying Young The poem To an Athlete Dying Young by A. E. Housman depicts the funeral of a young champion runner, who has died at the peak of his youth and athletic career. The poem makes note of the sorrow of a young life being cut short, but also glorifies the death of the athlete for capturing the young runner in the prime of his life. Housman s poem was written in the form of the classical lyric poem, which could be influenced by Housman s early tutoring in Greek and Latin lyric poetry (Holzberger 4). The poem also makes use of a four line ballad stanza, which Housman forms into an elegy for the young runner as he reflects on the runner s death (Holzberger 7). The townspeople come together again, but this time they are Townsman of a stiller town (Housman 2013). The poem highlights the theme of early death as the young runner is put to rest for a final time, and Housman makes it clear through his writing of the sorrow that townspeople feel towards the young life being cut short. The theme of early death is accompanied by sorrow in Housman s poem, and can be seen as a reflection of Housman s own experiences with death throughout his life (Holzberger 2 5). The death of Housman s mother, Sarah Jane Housman, on his twelfth birthday showcases the early death of the poet s mother, and what William G. Holzberger believed was a first of many personal catastrophes that would poison the poet s chances of a normal and happy life (Holzberger 2). The poem presents a young runner in the prime of his life, and much like Housman s mother, they were both suddenly taken by death. Another instance of early death in Housman s life was that of his close friend Adalbert Jackson (Holzberger 5). The death of Jackson, who was also in his prime, mirrors that of the young runner s death, and highlights the theme of early death in the poem as well as the poet s own life. • 39. Jeff Latour Analysis Latour s text left me preoccupied with ongoing questions about the human. Latour clearly shows an awareness to these concerns. He names ethical and political stakes for the most vulnerable human and nonhuman in the nonmodern constitution of the democracy of things: [t]he destiny of the starving multitudes and the fate of our poor planet are connected by the same Gordian knot that no Alexander will ever again manage to sever (50). The concern with vulnerable ecological and social networks puts Latour in range of Jeff Stout s observation about the social stratification of environmental injury: rain falls on the just and the unjust, but hurricanes mainly devastate the already destitute (Stout, 2010). (On this note, we should also think about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Getting at this concern, Latour asserts again the promise of the nonmodern constitution in terms of the problems of modern temporality: The past [in the modern constitution] was the confusion of things and men; the future is what will no longer confuse them (71). I take Latour to be criticizing the modern constitution s location of the (more realized) human in the future. It s not yet clear, however, how attending to mediation and purification changes things. How might quasi subject and quasi object status be less susceptible to modern structures of violence? Latour addresses these concerns most constructively in the conclusion in terms of redistribution. He writes that in order to amend the constitution, we need not to affirm the death of man, but simply relocate the human. Which is to say, the human can no longer be defined in terms of essences, by its contrast to the nonhuman, or according to the modern temporality of progress. Instead, the human must be understood as a delegate within various networks, a worker of mediation, a weaver of morphisms (137). The human is not altogether formless, but cannot be understood in isolation from nonhuman collectives. On these terms, to understand Katrina or the situation in Flint, one needs to draw lines of connection between the social life of the environment and the ecological distribution of the humans. The injustices of these situations, for Latour, cohere within the failure of human and nonhuman networks. In any case, this text is suggestive for further questions about the relation between trans and posthumanist discourse and critical theories of the human (e.g., race, gender, sexuality, ... There are certainly a few different institutions that play a large role within the development of this social issue. The first institution, and the primary institution at play with this issue, is the higher education system. In terms of mental health and having access to resources, college students haven t always been as lucky as they are today. One study in 2007 explains the story of Junior at Syracuse University (Kravets, 3081). Anita Rutman had a history of mental health issues; she even found herself being admitted to a mental health hospital. One morning in February, she threw herself off of the eighth floor of Boland Hall and landed on a patio and fortunately lived. However, her attempt stemmed from the university sending her letter three days prior that informed Anita that the school was planning to dismiss her because of her suicidal tendencies (Kravets, 3081). Anita later sued Syracuse for ten million dollars for malpractice and negligence in handling her condition. Situations like Anita s could be considered as part of the reason why the mental health of college students has become so prevalent. This research was conducted in 2007 and currently in 2016, 9 years later, there is a different out look on this issue as a whole, but it clearly wasn t always like it was today. While national home size continues to rise, there is a growing population of Americans in favor of small and tiny houses. Reality TV shows including Tiny House Hunting, Tiny House Building, Tiny House Nation, and Tiny House, Big Living, have brought national attention to the movement. A typical tiny house falls between 100 and 400 square feet. The tiny house movement is one possible solution for individual financial and environmental concerns. Most tiny homeowners also cite a simpler lifestyle as a main factor for choosing to live tiny. One of the greatest benefits of living in a tiny house is the relatively low cost. The average tiny house costs around $50,000 but can cost significantly more or less depending on building materials used, location, and luxuries included. Forbes estimates the cost at $200 to $400 per square foot. This makes tiny houses a great option for people who can t afford a downpayment on a larger home, but would rather be putting their money towards owning something rather than paying rent. DIY homebuilders accumulate expenses over time throughout the building process rather than all at once, which works well as long as you have somewhere else to live in the meantime.
