Essay On The Legend Of Ponnivala
The Wild Boar: Comparisons Between Classical Greek and Medieval Indian Mythology In The
Legend of Ponnivala, the twin kings Ponnar and Shankar face off against a giant boar named Komban.
Komban is the offspring of a little sow who was once brought to Ponnivala as one of the royal
animals. When Kunnutaiya and Tamarai set out on their journey to the Gates of Heaven to resolve the
matter of their childless state with Lord Shiva, all the barren animals ask them to request a boon of
children from the god on their behalf.
The pig, however, falls asleep across their path. In her rush to get moving Tamarai kicks the pig to
wake her up. Indignant, the pig curses Tamarai and swears that the son she has will grow into a huge
black boar that will ravage the land and kill Tamarai s sons.
After Tamarai s sons, the heroes Ponnar and Shankar, have grown, the land is ravaged by the great
boar Komban. Komban challenges the young kings, who have stolen a parrot from the neighbouring
forest kingdom. Through pitched and very dangerous combat, Komban is killed and his remains
divided between the men of Ponnivala and their allies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oeneus of Calydon commits a great insult when he offers a harvest sacrifice to all of the gods except
Artemis. Enraged, Artemis sends a giant boar to ravage the fields of Calydon. According to the Iliad,
Oeneus calls on his son Meleager to organize a hunting party (which includes, interestingly, the twin
warriors Castor and Pollux, Meleager s cousins). The boar is killed and the meat divided. However,
Meleager s uncles are offended that he has given a greater portion to the huntress Atalanta, and after
further combat Meleager kills them, which incites his own mother to curse

Communicative Language Teaching Paper
I will highlight in this research precisely at how to avoid the lack of communications in the classroom
by clarifying the big rule of Communicative language teaching (CLT) in both, improving
communications skills and creating the best field of practicing new vocabulary, grammar rules and
pronounce words correctly.
I will give a lesson to a number of Intermediate School students from the age of 11 to the age of 15
about one or tow simple rules of grammar using Communicative language teaching methods, and
make an interview with each of them (before and after) in order to measure the absorbing of the rules

Communicative Language Teaching has a principle and characteristics which different from another

Al Capone Essay
Passed by the US congress in October of 1919, the National Prohibition Act became the 18th
Amendment in America. This law, which only began on the 16th of January 1920, saw the
manufacture, transportation and sale of intoxicating liquors banned in every state of America. During
the time of prohibition Al Capone became the most infamous gangster of American history as a result
of his multimillion dollar Chicago operation. Capone s operation involved bootlegging, prostitution
and gambling, where he dominated the organised crime spectacle of America. Organised crime was
the involvement of criminal acts that were planned and controlled by powerful groups on a large scale.

By removing liquor licenses, leaders of the prohibition movement believed that churches and reform
organisations would start to encourage Americans to stop drinking alcohol, and hoped that America
over time would lead to a sober nation, with several prohibition leaders believed that an educational
campaign would greatly expand these hopes. Organised crime dates back to as early as the street
gangs of the 1800s, with organised crime being the inclusion of a whole city, or state, in illegal and
unlawful activity. In America, the activity of taking part in organised crime is known as racketeering,
with secret organisations and members using word of mouth to send messages. The Forty Thieves, one
of these street gangs, was formed through hundreds of immigrants coming together for their own
financial gain and protection. These gangs saw organised crime as the only form of protection against
corrupt police officers and other gangs. Generally gangs formed in the 1800s were grouped together as
people who were poor and living in slums, or through their ethnic background. The Italian Americans
formed the most notable organised crime group of the Mafia, where Italian immigrants worked
together to fight oppression, and to rise above poverty by selling stolen goods, extortion, prostitution,
and other acts which were quick at gaining money. Al Capone, seen as the leader of bootlegging in

The Ethics Of Lying Research
In the medical field, doctors are looked upon as having one of the most highly skilled professional
careers anyone can achieve. Doctors are placed with a significant amount of responsibility when they
take on patients. These patients look for a doctor who will do whatever it takes to treat them. This
includes making life or death decisions based off the wishes of the patient and the family, as well as
dealing with insurance companies. Doctors are expected to find out what is causing the problem that
their patient is experiencing, as well as being the best advocate for each patient. Although lying is
highly unacceptable among most philosophical theories, as well as in the modern age, sometimes it

We are well within the one week countdown mark to possibly one of the most hyped series of Doctor
Who in the show s five decade history. On the face of it, the series looks to be like any other. One with
lots of monsters, mystery and adventure. Also with the important point of it being another Moffat
series to add to his collection (which isn t a terrible collection at that).
So, what makes Series 9 that much more gripping, even before it airs? What have got Whovians the
world over raving about the series during the tenth anniversary year of the revival? Well in this article,
you will find all the answers to that question in six parts, and perhaps more reasons to declare it one of
the greatest series yet if it delivers on all aspects.

However, the majority of the episodes weren t even originally written for a Doctor of Peter s ilk,
which was never really publicised at the time, so the majority didn t know. They were all Matt Smith
scripts. This meant there were inconsistencies in my opinion in the way Twelfth was played. It was as
if in certain episodes he was one way, then the next few he was something else. It was a jumbled
characterisation at the time.
That is all change this year, as it truly is the time of the Twelfth Doctor. The scripts have been
manufactured exactly to the new Doctor s character, which promises more differences, but also more
consistency in his character this time around. We will be getting a more identifiable portrayal of the
Twelfth Doctor himself.
Peter is now far more comfortable in the role, and he will no doubt be giving it the best he has got,
which is a lot! He will be sensational, and with trusted companion Clara in a less commanding

By Elyn Saks Memoir The Center Cannot Hold
Elyn Saks memoir, The Center Cannot Hold, tells an eye opening story of her lifetime journey filled
with achievements despite suffering from schizophrenia. Although it took a while for Saks to fully
accept her diagnosis, she never sold herself short of what she was able to accomplish. Saks shows the
reader that determination, perseverance, and knowledge can bring refugee to anyone suffering from a
mental illness. There is no doubt that Saks led a remarkable battle against her illness while continuing
to pursue her passions, but her message stands clear that anyone who suffers an inner demon has the
ability to overcome it if they find a life through which they can accept it, learn to cope with it, and find
happiness in it. As the years of Sak s life passed, she found her mental illness further developing ...

In fact, most feel as though their illness places them on the outskirts of society. Not only do they suffer
the symptoms of their mental illness, but they also have to suffer the repercussions, the circumstances,
and the labels that surround their diagnosis. In some cases, they are told it is doubtful that they will be
able to hold a job or maintain stable relationships. In her memoir, Saks states, The gaps in your life
how do you explain them? (Saks, 228). She is referring to the moments when she is detached from
reality because her psychosis has taken over. Many diagnosed people suffer from episodes in which
they lose contact with themselves. Their perception of reality becomes vague and their inner demons
take over. Saks refers to these moments as gaps or a loss of time in one s life. She questions how
people with mental illness are able to recover from these moments if that is how they were once
perceived. A constant obstacle that people with mental illness face is trying to explain or justify their
behavior or thoughts when even they may not why they

Interracial Marriages And Its Effect On Society
Interracial Marriages (relationships) have existed for years, though society traditionally has had
difficulty accepting these unions. Over the years, attitudes toward interracial relationships have
changed dramatically and will likely continue to change as our society becomes increasingly diverse.
An interracial marriage is generally defined as the union between two individuals who come from
different racial/ethnic backgrounds, such as and African American women and a white American male.
Interracial has been difficult to define. Society has had difficulties accepting interracial relationships.
Don t let opinions get in the way of love. Slaves at this time were legally permitted to marry, though
many enslaved people entered into extralegal marriages that were recognized in their own
communities. Most states prohibited interracial marriages. These prohibitions, which were known as
antimiscegenation laws (a term that originated In the 1860s), gained strengths. These laws applied
only to marriages between African American and whites. Racial prejudices also affected the
government s use of marriage as a way to confer citizenship. In 1855 Congress passed a law granting
citizenship to foreign women who married American men (Edwards). From colonial times until the
1960s, antimiscegenation laws declaring race mixing and intermarriage illegal were common in most
state laws. These laws were intended to protect whiteness and thus were not generally enforced for
marriages

his personal views on the item and the reason for purchasing it. John also used his sense of humor
when describing the items and was able to sell everything he owned. Based on John s description I
was aware the iron was not the best rated and made using the cheapest materials available. This iron
was meant for people who cannot afford an expensive iron

The Socio Economic Status Affects Education
Proving students in our Nation with a better education can help save our children from the clutches of
poverty, crime, drugs, and hopelessness, and we help safeguard our Nation s prosperity for generations
yet unborn. Elijah Cummings. He makes a very extremely good point. Kids who receive a better
education rarely ever become poor, fall into crime or drugs. They learn exactly what they need to do to
become successful. Which is the main reason why when you look at kids who are poor they aren t
getting the smarted and neither are their parents. The socio economic status does impact education in
many ways if not in all ways. A lot of people would say that it has nothing to do with money and it all
depends on the person, but have you ever realized that people who live in Beverly Hills have a way
better education than someone in Philadelphia. What makes them so different? One thing and that s
money. Those parents are able to pay for their kids to have the best education out there. While some
families in Philadelphia can barely afford to feed their kids. Of course though that s not the only factor
when it comes to a kid who receives the better education. It also depends on how much the school
makes in terms of money and the teachers, because even if you re not poor or if you live in a bad area
then your kid could be receiving a bad education.

Flourishing North American Cultures
2000 years before Europeans began to arrive in the New World, the last era of the pre Columbian
development began. North American cultures such as the Mississippian culture, the Hopewell
Tradition, and the Hohokam culture experienced growth and environmental adaptation throughout this
era. Major contributions and innovations of Native Americans have developed and been passed on
through generations of ancestors. Originating in 700 A.D., the Mississippian culture expanded through
the Mississippi Valley and out into the southeastern states of Alabama, Georgia and Florida. For 800
years, until the 1550s, the Mississippian culture prospered. They cultivated a substantial amount of

At the peak of their dynamic culture, the Anasazi developed the Chaco Canyon. Within the canyon,
they constructed many pueblos, totaling nearly seven hundred rooms. In addition, they built water
collection systems and a network of roads. It was a massive achievement in engineering. The founding
fathers of America looked at the Iroquois, who lived along the St. Lawrence River in what is now New
York, as a model of democracy to base America s political system on. From the Iroquois, Europeans
learned of a well developed system of checks, balances and supreme law. Because the Iroquois
influenced the Articles of Confederation, they were one of the most important native groups in North
American history. The federation of the Iroquois enabled them to prosper in independence and protect
themselves from enemies. The Hohokam culture of present day Arizona existed from 300 A.D. to

family. The Hohokam men, who were traditionally hunters, hunted large game with spears until the
bow and arrow was introduced around 400 500 A.D. Throughout the culture s lifespan, its

Ralph is very serious about his work and wants to create an organized civilization. However, the
littluns get confused and are not sure what Ralph is saying. This creates a setback for the group. For
instance, it is written above, One had to sit, attracting all eyes to the conch, and drop words like heavy
round stones among the little groups that crouched or squatted. This sentence signifies that the littluns
cannot understand what Ralph is saying and they are not interested in what Ralph is saying. The use of
Golding s simple diction and syntax also infers this tone. It creates the feeling that the littluns are
bored and uninterested in what Ralph is saying. The style choices of this passage reflect the theme in
the novel, power. Power is everywhere on the island and is shown through different levels throughout
the novel. Ralph is chosen as the leader of a democratic system. Ralph uses his power as a way to
create civilization and order in the society. However, the littluns are bored and uninterested in Ralph
for they want to have fun on the island, not to do work. Throughout the novel, the littluns are

What Is The Wildlife Innovation And Longevity Driver (...
Overview and Mandated Provisions
The Wildlife Innovation and Longevity Driver (WILD) Act was introduced with the aim of improving
and maintaining global biodiversity by addressing four critical issues: habitat loss, invasive species,
and wildlife poaching/trafficking. The WILD Act addresses these issues through four provisions: 1)
establishing the Theodore Roosevelt Genius Prizes, 2) reauthorizing the Multinational Species
Conservation Funds (MSCF), 3) amending the Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act (FWCA), and 4)
reauthorizing the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program (PFWP) (S. 826 WILD Act, 2017).

the entire nature of the hip hop culture, especially when dealing with social justice issues. Today, hip
hop culture s association revolves around raps (lyrics) and the rappers which reflect how consumers
receive messages about social justice issues. Unlike breaking and graffiti, the music/lyrics penetrate
society more. However, for this analysis, the focus will rely on a visual element with a connection to

the cops appear invisible as if lurking in the shadows. While the person on the right has their face

them to blend into the night while illuminating the light part of them; their white faces and arms.
However, the cops seem calm, almost confused as they walk behind the teens. Due to their leisurely
pace, it confuses the photo s tone presented by the screaming teen. It doesn t seem as violent as

Who Was Responsible For Lucifer s Downfall
Augustine on the doctrine of primal sin focuses on the downfall of Lucifer, in whether he foresaw that
his actions would entail a consequence in denying God. For it is arguable that Lucifer did foresee his
coming downfall. Because his intentional actions in turning away from God went against his angelic
nature, implicating Lucifer deliberately deprived himself of what he knew was the greatest of goods,
and avidly sought out the opposite. For Lucifer perversely chose to abandon all that is good by turning
away from God, and towards what is contrary to God. That in which, I will argue from the doctrines of
Augustine, (Book 12 of the city of God) that Lucifer did foresee his coming downfall. For his

If Lucifer s nature was meant to be prideful, God would not have punished him. For Lucifer would be
flourishing to the degree of goodness that is written into his particular being. For this particular nature
would have been purposely authored from God, and Augustine explains that no one suffers
punishment for faults of nature . However, given that Lucifer s angelic nature yearns to to cleave to
God, demonstrates how he deliberately chose to reject his nature by turning away from God. For
Lucifer possesses the faculties of reasoning to distinguish what is righteous from what is unrighteous .
That in which, Lucifer fully understands that he is choosing to embrace misery by neglecting his
angelic nature is cleaving to God. For Augustine s asserts that Vices are contrary to God , this is
demonstrated by the intention of Lucifer practicing the vices of pride, which goes against everything
that he knows is good by. For the vices contradict all that is good, and to partake in them results in
misery. This in effect demonstrates how pride cannot be an aspect of Lucifer s Angelic nature, but
rather how the vices must be deliberately performed from the will itself. Consequently, Lucifer than is
not prideful by nature, rather he chose to habitually embrace the vice which led him to rejecting God,

Le Roman And Les Misérables
Le Roman was a story by Victor Hugo about several characters who are faced with horrible situations.
Throughout the story the characters have to overcome the conflicts that they posses and those that are
thrown at them throughout the rest of the story. Troubles such as poverty, criminal records, and greed
weaves all the characters together to show that they are all connected. In Les Misérables, the
characters are also faced with many problems. However, those problems are based off of racism,

Although his crimes would seem minor today, those crimes where major back then and his attempts to
escape had only increased his sentence. When he was released from his prison, he reentered society
and was imminently met with rude, unwelcoming gestures from the citizens of France. In Les
Misérables there had been many examples of characters who had shown a resemblance to Jean
Valjean. In the beginning of the movie a man named Henri had been accused of killing a man that
committed suicide when he had been driving him home. This resulted in him being sent to prison
where he had tried to escape. Later in the movie, Henri s son who is also referred to as Henri is grown
and called to when a man is stuck underneath a piano. Using his strength that he had possessed from

Do Managers Ownership Concentration Affect Firms ...
Research question
Do managers ownership concentration affect firms investment policy? According to
citet{agrawal1987managerial}, the firm s specific risks have three effects on the insiders incentives.
First, as a shareholder, insiders can benefit from the increased value of the equity claims if the firms
invest in high risk and high return projects. Second, as risk averse investors, insiders have lower
certainty equivalent of human capital value if the firms have more volatile future cash flows. Lastly, if
the managers lacks the access to freely diversify the firm specific risk of their personal wealth

Oracle s stock. The purpose of Ellison s borrowing is not fully revealed, however, he has a vast known
holdings of land and real estates, as well as holdings in many start up business (NetSuite, for
example). This example shows that share pledge practice provides corporate insiders a way to
diversify their personal portfolios without actually selling the shares. There are three advantages of
doing so over selling the shares directly. First, the insiders would not need to sell their stocks at a
discount to fundamental value when his or her selling un balance the normal market demand and
supply. Second, insiders can avoid being linked with insider trading accusations and sending negative
signal to the market. Third, some of them may actually want to hold onto the firms stocks in their
personal portfolio but want to also diversify. In summary, share pledge loans provide more
opportunities for corporate insiders to hedge their exposures to firm specific risk.

There is a long list of papers in the literature focusing on the relationship between managers ability to
hedge and firms risk. As such, these studies, among others, have documented a number of techniques
that executives use to hedge their undiversified portfolios, such as the use of low cost collars

Analyzing The Movie The Magnificent Seven
A good majority of us have seen Old westerns before. We ve grown to love and know them so well.
They are relics of how life was in the old west and even more show what we think the old west should
be life. The revitalized western movie The Magnificent Seven is only a remake that shows you
everything you love about a western movie, it does not reinvent or add anything special to the genre.
Usually in a remake movie with up to date actors and even better special effects and editing skills you
would think that it makes the movie better. I ve come to realize now that the old movies we ve all
come to love cannot be made with the same magic a second time. They were for their time and you
lose something when you remake it. For this movie the only thing significantly better was the camera
resolution. Everything else seems to be the same. Especially the epic final battle or in a western movie
it s called the final shoot out. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But to the trained eye you start to notice that there isn t anything special about it. The director of the
film Antoine Fuqua basically just uses an old movie and remakes it with actors that we can connect
with because we ve seen them before. There is a scene in the movie where denzel s character Chisolm
shoots up a saloon and kills for a bounty. Chris Pratt makes his interjection and it s interesting to see
these two different actors act together in a space. The only thing interesting about the whole entire
movie is that they have actors from all genres of

Drugs And Drugs In H. G Bissinger s Friday Night Lights
Football is America s go to entertainment sport. The NFL hit its peak in 2015, with an average of
114.1 million television viewers throughout the year ( Statista, 2017). This sport is loved by all, the
players, parents, coaches, and fans. But, is football merely entertainment? Is it just a simple game,
teaching young boys the value of teamwork, dedication, and discipline? Are parents spending their
Friday nights to support their boys, or is there something bigger happening? In H.G Bissinger s novel,
Friday Night Lights, one can see the true effects of this toxic drug through the mindset of the players
and the actions of the coaches. While society sees football as entertainment, it actually functions more
like a drug. The first stage of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jerrod receives good, tingling feelings when he not only plays football, but when he thinks of it too.
He also is comparing his feelings to being a much more powerful figure, rather than a football player.
He will be playing not on a football field, but rather a barbaric arena. Mcdougal s idea of football is
way beyond just a simple game because his addiction to it has altered his brain in the way he
possesses the game. The final stage of drug use is the aftermath. Once someone can no longer get the
drug, they are left with serious side effects and the life that they had before the abuse, is not a figment
of their imagination. Once these boys get football taken away from them, they are left with nothing. If
one is injured and cannot return to play, they are left without the college ball or professional league.
And many times, their academics have been put on hold, which results in little to no academic future
for them. We see this when Jerrod McDougal is thinking about his future. I ve got no idea what I want
to do. I ve got no idea what school I want to go to. My SAT won t be worth a shit. And no football

Analysis Of Once Upon A Time By Nadine Gordimer
You can t protect yourself from sadness without protecting yourself from happiness. This quote by
Jonathan Safran Foer shows us that no person can protect himself from everything bad without
blocking out the good too. In Once Upon a Time by Nadine Gordimer, one of the main themes is that
it is impossible for people to protect themselves from everything bad in life. In this short story, a wife
who lives in a nice suburban neighborhood is terrified of being robbed. Her fear drives her to become
extremely anxious. This anxiety makes her buy all sorts of security devices which eventually lead to
the death of her son. The wife s goal is to protect her house and family from everything bad in their
neighborhood. As a consequence of this, she gets super paranoid and ends up killing her son after he
gets stuck in her barbed wire fence. After her son gets stuck in the barbed wire, she realizes that there
is no way that any person can protect themself from all the terrible things in life. Therefore, because
the wife s motivation to protect her family causes her to accidentally kill her own son, Gordimer
shows that people cannot protect themselves from the terrible things in life.
Primarily, the wife is motivated to protect her family and house, no matter the cost. Towards the
beginning of the story, the wife is becoming uneasy about someone breaking into her house. She
shows us how anxious and paranoid she is when the story says, Yet she was afraid that someday such
people might

The History Of Croatia
Southeastern Europe has been a conflict ridden corner of the world since as early as 400 A.D. From
the split of the Roman empire to the rule by the Ottoman empire to the World Wars and most recently,
the breakdown of Yugoslavia, this region has not had a boring moment in history. Such a long history
of conflict has impacted the people of this region in ways that still matter today, such as ethnic identity
and religion. While this extended, complicated history has given Croatia depth, it is not all the country
has going for it. Yugoslavia broke into 7 new states, leaving each with the challenge to develop and
strengthen themselves. Some, like Kosovo, have struggled to do so. Croatia, however, has managed to

B. History As the split between the Roman Empire and Byzantine Empire grew, Croatia found itself
right in between the two. The Pope baptized the nation and legalized church services, aligning it with
the Roman Empire. This connection with the west has continued throughout Croatian history.
In 1527, Arch Duke Ferdinand Hapsburg was elected King of Croatia. With this decision, Croatia
became part of the Hapsburg monarchy. Over the next centuries, the relationship between Croatia and
the Hapsburg monarchy varied from fierce conflicts to allied defense efforts. Throughout the
Hapsburg Monarchy, Croatia remained a separate kingdom within the kingdom. When the Hapsburg

The Importance Of The French-English Relations In Canada
English and French Canadians have had one of the most complicated and intriguing relationships
throughout all of history. Even though they share the prosperous country of Canada, they could not be
more divided as a nation. Factors such as language, culture and political beliefs have separated these
two vast majority of Canadians for a very long time. Throughout the last century, French English
relations have slightly improved over time, yet there is still an unstable peace between the two
peoples. This will be clearly demonstrated throughout this essay, which will explore three critical time
periods that changed French English relations in Canada. Between the years 1914 and 1929, relations
amongst the English and the French are shown to be very unstable and unpleasant, due to the events
which occurred in that timeframe. Later on between the years 1930 and 1945, relations improved
slightly because much was learned from the previous time period. In the years after, the unstable peace
and division between French and English Canada, even to this day, was established.
In the years between 1914 and 1929, relations between French and English Canada were shown to be
very unpleasant, due to events which occurred throughout the time frame. To begin with, the
conscription crisis of 1917 brought upon hostility and division between French and English Canada.

Why Do Companies Use Tax Records
Records pertaining to employment, earnings, and taxes withheld can all be questioned by the IRS and
be audited if any red flags are raised. This shouldn t be a cause for concern if you keep good records
and can prove whatever information was claimed on the forms. The general rule is to keep tax records
for 3 years, but 5 is probably a safer number when it comes to individuals. Keep in mind that other
entities may require information from tax forms including, insurance companies and credit lenders.
Having the documents on hand is smarter and more convenient than hunting down and/or requesting
copies from the IRS sometime in the future. On the other hand, a company should store tax records
indefinitely. The digital age has made this task simpler and less space consuming.
When and if the time comes to destroy old documents, be sure that the forms are shredded with a

Companies and individuals with a business should store other important documents for the duration of
the existence. These documents can include, but a re not limited to permits, agreements, contracts,

information needed, provide proof with documentation if necessary, and have a complete record of the
history of the company.
Managing Data
There are many arguments for and against any type of medium that can be implemented to store and
manage data and records. Each medium has its positive characteristics and its drawbacks. The best
record keepers use more than one method to store data, mainly as a backup in case of a catastrophe.
This is where the old adage, it s better to be safe than sorry takes on a greater significance.

The Differences Between Prairie Style Architecture And...

Hi tech architecture. We will go over the origin, the years it was used, the main components and
characteristics, some of the architects that used these design types, a few real= world examples, and
we will compare them. Prairie School was a late 19th and early 20th century architectural style, most
common to the Midwestern United States. The style is usually marked by horizontal lines, flat or
hipped roofs with broad overhanging eaves, windows grouped in horizontal bands, integration with
the landscape, solid construction, craftsmanship, and discipline in the use of ornament. Horizontal
lines were thought to evoke and relate to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The designation Prairie is due to the dominant horizontality of the majority of Prairie style buildings
which echoes the wide, flat, treeless expanses of the mid Western United States. The most famous
proponent of the style, Frank Lloyd Wright, promoted an idea of organic architecture , the primary
tenet of which was that a structure should look as if it naturally grew from the site. Wright also felt
that a horizontal orientation was a distinctly American design motif, in that the younger country had
much more open, undeveloped land than found in most older, urbanized European nations.
Hi tech architecture, also known as Structural Expressionism, is a type of Late Modern architectural
style that emerged in the 1970s, incorporating elements of hi tech industry and technology into
building design. Hi tech architecture appeared as revamped modernism, an extension of those previous
ideas helped by even more technological advances. This category serves as a bridge between
modernism and post modernism; however, there remain gray areas as to where one category ends and
the other begins. In the 1980s, hi tech architecture became more difficult to distinguish from post
modern architecture. Some of its themes and ideas were later absorbed into the style of Neo Futurism
art and architectural movement.
Like Brutalism, Structural Expressionist buildings reveal their structure on the outside as well as the
inside, but with visual emphasis placed on the

Psychologist Sigmund Freud is credited with saying, I cannot think of any need in childhood as strong
as the need for a father s protection. Unfortunately, not every child has that need fulfilled. Such is the
circumstance with Sarty in William Faulkner s short story Barn Burning. Abner, Sarty s father,
selfishly neglects the nurturing of his offspring in order to carry out his own dishonorable deeds. Sarty

his father is good, reluctantly agrees that Abner s actions are justified (Faulkner 803). Only moments

I had said they wanted only truth, justice, he would have hit me again (803). Having access to both the

Barn Burning Sarty Character Analysis
Blinded by Loyalty
The word loyalty can be broken down into its main term, loyal. To be loyal is to show dedication to an
ideology, individual, or group whom presumably all share the same beliefs. For instance, many people
use either Apple or Android cell phones. It is not that one is better than the other, it is usually just what
a person has grown up using. This can be described as brand loyal. In Barn Burning the family loyalty
theme is made evident throughout the story by bringing to light the dynamic in which the Snopes
family is expected to act with emphasis on a strong, harsh father and a son with underlying values that
differ from those of his family.

Obeying is the basic principle in loyalty, one in which Sarty cannot differ between. For him loyalty is
pleasing his father no matter what the consequence. That is until he can break free from the oppression
of loyalty and finally see that it was loyalty that was blinding his true character. It is not until 20 years
later that Sarty realizes that society wanted only truth, justice (Faulkner 3). It was not society whom
demanded extreme loyalty, it was merely his family and more specifically his power hungry father.
Abner at one point in the story takes it as far as to tell Sarty to stick to his families own blood because
if not then he would have no one else to rely on (Faulkner 3). This shallow threat is yet another attack
on a boy that aims to please his father, but is so caught in the middle of his battle with loyalty and self
that he can be depicted as flying and being removed or suspended from the ground (Kirchdorfer 116).

How Sealcoating Protects Your Asphalt Driveway
If you want to maintain the rich color and smooth surface of your asphalt driveway, then you should
have a sealcoat applied to it regularly over its lifespan. A sealcoat is a protective layer that keeps the
asphalt from degrading, fading, and cracking. Here s what you should know about sealcoating.
Why Asphalt Deteriorates
Your asphalt driveway will last a long time, but it will probably start to show signs of wear in a couple
of years if you don t have sealcoating applied. That s because asphalt is susecptble to damage from
freezing temperatures, rain, and UV rays. Oil and gas leaks can also cause a chemical reaction with
asphalt that causes it to weaken. Also, if you park a heavy truck or ... Show more content on

It keeps gas and oil from coming into direct contact with the asphalt. It also seals the asphalt so rain
can t seep into it, freeze, expand, and create potholes. Sealcoating also keeps the surface of your
driveway a fresh, dark color so it is more attractive. It s important to remember that your driveway is
much more than a layer of asphalt. The asphalt is just the top part of bed of compacted dirt and
aggregate.
The purpose of asphalt is to bind the aggregate together and keep it from washing away in the rain. It
has an elastic quality that allows it to expand and contract with the weather. This places a lot of stress
on the asphalt layer of your driveway, and the sealcoat offers some relief from this stress. By
protecting the asphalt layer, the sealcoat helps prolong the life of your driveway.
How Sealcoating Is Applied
A contractor can apply sealcoating with a spray canister so it goes on like spray paint. He or she could
also apply it by hand and smooth it out with a squeegee. It doesn t take long to apply the sealcoat, but
it does take a while to prep your driveway first. The asphalt must be clean and dry so the sealcoat will
adhere properly. Also, all cracks must be filled and leveled out so they won t show through once the
sealcoating is applied. Once the job is done, you may have to wait a day or two before you can use
your driveway, it all depends on the weather conditions and how quickly

Essay On The Legend Of Ponnivala The Wild Boar: Comparisons Between Classical Greek and Medieval Indian Mythology In The Legend of Ponnivala, the twin kings Ponnar and Shankar face off against a giant boar named Komban. Komban is the offspring of a little sow who was once brought to Ponnivala as one of the royal animals. When Kunnutaiya and Tamarai set out on their journey to the Gates of Heaven to resolve the matter of their childless state with Lord Shiva, all the barren animals ask them to request a boon of children from the god on their behalf. The pig, however, falls asleep across their path. In her rush to get moving Tamarai kicks the pig to wake her up. Indignant, the pig curses Tamarai and swears that the son she has will grow into a huge black boar that will ravage the land and kill Tamarai s sons. After Tamarai s sons, the heroes Ponnar and Shankar, have grown, the land is ravaged by the great boar Komban. Komban challenges the young kings, who have stolen a parrot from the neighbouring forest kingdom. There is no doubt that Saks led a remarkable battle against her illness while continuing to pursue her passions, but her message stands clear that anyone who suffers an inner demon has the ability to overcome it if they find a life through which they can accept it, learn to cope with it, and find happiness in it. Over the years, attitudes toward interracial relationships have changed dramatically and will likely continue to change as our society becomes increasingly diverse. An interracial marriage is generally defined as the union between two individuals who come from different racial/ethnic backgrounds, such as and African American women and a white American male. Interracial has been difficult to define. Society has had difficulties accepting interracial relationships. Don t let opinions get in the way of love. Slaves at this time were legally permitted to marry, though many enslaved people entered into extralegal marriages that were recognized in their own communities. Most states prohibited interracial marriages. These prohibitions, which were known as antimiscegenation laws (a term that originated In the 1860s), gained strengths. These laws applied only to marriages between African American and whites. Racial prejudices also affected the government s use of marriage as a way to confer citizenship. In 1855 Congress passed a law granting citizenship to foreign women who married American men (Edwards). From colonial times until the 1960s, antimiscegenation laws declaring race mixing and intermarriage illegal were common in most state laws. The Socio Economic Status Affects Education Proving students in our Nation with a better education can help save our children from the clutches of poverty, crime, drugs, and hopelessness, and we help safeguard our Nation s prosperity for generations yet unborn. Elijah Cummings. He makes a very extremely good point. Kids who receive a better education rarely ever become poor, fall into crime or drugs. They learn exactly what they need to do to become successful. Which is the main reason why when you look at kids who are poor they aren t getting the smarted and neither are their parents. The socio economic status does impact education in many ways if not in all ways. A lot of people would say that it has nothing to do with money and it all depends on the person, but have you ever realized that people who live in Beverly Hills have a way better education than someone in Philadelphia. What makes them so different? One thing and that s money. Those parents are able to pay for their kids to have the best education out there. While some families in Philadelphia can barely afford to feed their kids. Of course though that s not the only factor when it comes to a kid who receives the better education. It also depends on how much the school makes in terms of money and the teachers, because even if you re not poor or if you live in a bad area then your kid could be receiving a bad education. For Lucifer would be flourishing to the degree of goodness that is written into his particular being. However, given that Lucifer s angelic nature yearns to to cleave to God, demonstrates how he deliberately chose to reject his nature by turning away from God. For Lucifer possesses the faculties of reasoning to distinguish what is righteous from what is unrighteous . That in which, Lucifer fully understands that he is choosing to embrace misery by neglecting his angelic nature is cleaving to God. For Augustine s asserts that Vices are contrary to God , this is demonstrated by the intention of Lucifer practicing the vices of pride, which goes against everything that he knows is good by. This quote by Jonathan Safran Foer shows us that no person can protect himself from everything bad without blocking out the good too. In Once Upon a Time by Nadine Gordimer, one of the main themes is that it is impossible for people to protect themselves from everything bad in life. In this short story, a wife who lives in a nice suburban neighborhood is terrified of being robbed. Her fear drives her to become extremely anxious. This anxiety makes her buy all sorts of security devices which eventually lead to the death of her son. The wife s goal is to protect her house and family from everything bad in their neighborhood. As a consequence of this, she gets super paranoid and ends up killing her son after he gets stuck in her barbed wire fence. After her son gets stuck in the barbed wire, she realizes that there is no way that any person can protect themself from all the terrible things in life. Therefore, because the wife s motivation to protect her family causes her to accidentally kill her own son, Gordimer shows that people cannot protect themselves from the terrible things in life. Primarily, the wife is motivated to protect her family and house, no matter the cost. Towards the beginning of the story, the wife is becoming uneasy about someone breaking into her house. Even though they share the prosperous country of Canada, they could not be more divided as a nation. Factors such as language, culture and political beliefs have separated these two vast majority of Canadians for a very long time. Throughout the last century, French English relations have slightly improved over time, yet there is still an unstable peace between the two peoples. This will be clearly demonstrated throughout this essay, which will explore three critical time periods that changed French English relations in Canada. Between the years 1914 and 1929, relations amongst the English and the French are shown to be very unstable and unpleasant, due to the events which occurred in that timeframe. Later on between the years 1930 and 1945, relations improved slightly because much was learned from the previous time period. This shouldn t be a cause for concern if you keep good records and can prove whatever information was claimed on the forms. The general rule is to keep tax records for 3 years, but 5 is probably a safer number when it comes to individuals. Keep in mind that other entities may require information from tax forms including, insurance companies and credit lenders. Prairie School was a late 19th and early 20th century architectural style, most common to the Midwestern United States. The designation Prairie is due to the dominant horizontality of the majority of Prairie style buildings which echoes the wide, flat, treeless expanses of the mid Western United States. The most famous proponent of the style, Frank Lloyd Wright, promoted an idea of organic architecture , the primary tenet of which was that a structure should look as if it naturally grew from the site. Wright also felt that a horizontal orientation was a distinctly American design motif, in that the younger country had much more open, undeveloped land than found in most older, urbanized European nations. Hi tech architecture, also known as Structural Expressionism, is a type of Late Modern architectural style that emerged in the 1970s, incorporating elements of hi tech industry and technology into building design. Hi tech architecture appeared as revamped modernism, an extension of those previous ideas helped by even more technological advances. This category serves as a bridge between modernism and post modernism; however, there remain gray areas as to where one category ends and the other begins. In the 1980s, hi tech architecture became more difficult to distinguish from post modern architecture. Some of its themes and ideas were later absorbed into the style of Neo Futurism art and architectural movement. • 40. Barn Burning Sarty Character Analysis Blinded by Loyalty The word loyalty can be broken down into its main term, loyal. To be loyal is to show dedication to an ideology, individual, or group whom presumably all share the same beliefs. For instance, many people use either Apple or Android cell phones. It is not that one is better than the other, it is usually just what a person has grown up using. This can be described as brand loyal. In Barn Burning the family loyalty theme is made evident throughout the story by bringing to light the dynamic in which the Snopes family is expected to act with emphasis on a strong, harsh father and a son with underlying values that differ from those of his family. Obeying is the basic principle in loyalty, one in which Sarty cannot differ between. For him loyalty is pleasing his father no matter what the consequence. That is until he can break free from the oppression of loyalty and finally see that it was loyalty that was blinding his true character. It is not until 20 years later that Sarty realizes that society wanted only truth, justice (Faulkner 3). It was not society whom demanded extreme loyalty, it was merely his family and more specifically his power hungry father. Abner at one point in the story takes it as far as to tell Sarty to stick to his families own blood because if not then he would have no one else to rely on (Faulkner 3). This shallow threat is yet another attack on a boy that aims to please his father, but is so caught in the middle of his battle with loyalty and self that he can be depicted as flying and being removed or suspended from the ground (Kirchdorfer 116). Why Asphalt Deteriorates Your asphalt driveway will last a long time, but it will probably start to show signs of wear in a couple of years if you don t have sealcoating applied. It also seals the asphalt so rain can t seep into it, freeze, expand, and create potholes. Sealcoating also keeps the surface of your driveway a fresh, dark color so it is more attractive. It s important to remember that your driveway is much more than a layer of asphalt. The asphalt is just the top part of bed of compacted dirt and aggregate. The purpose of asphalt is to bind the aggregate together and keep it from washing away in the rain. It has an elastic quality that allows it to expand and contract with the weather. This places a lot of stress on the asphalt layer of your driveway, and the sealcoat offers some relief from this stress. By protecting the asphalt layer, the sealcoat helps prolong the life of your driveway. How Sealcoating Is Applied A contractor can apply sealcoating with a spray canister so it goes on like spray paint. He or she could also apply it by hand and smooth it out with a squeegee. It doesn t take long to apply the sealcoat, but it does take a while to prep your driveway first. The asphalt must be clean and dry so the sealcoat will adhere properly. Also, all cracks must be filled and leveled out so they won t show through once the sealcoating is applied. Once the job is done, you may have to wait a day or two before you can use your driveway, it all depends on the weather conditions and how quickly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
