Remember The Tians Is A Sports Movie Based On A True Story
Remember the Tians is a sports movie based on a true story. The movie is about racism and how
the characters abandon prejudices between each other in order to win the game.
The 1970s was the era for American African civil rights movements. In Virginia, located in the
south center of the United States, the population were still very conservative. There s a high school
football team called the Titans with only white players. Yet, the school followed the racial
integration policy which accepted many black students. This caused the Titan team to become a
blended team. In addition, the school also demoted the already extremely successful white Coach
Yoast and let a black man Boone to be the head coach because of the policy. Many white students
and their parents protested and threatened they are going to quit. The residents were also are the
same as these students, as they had suspicious and had doubts. Black man in a superior position
towards a white man is a very dissonant combination, and the team players despised each other.
Even the school didn t support Coach Boone and claimed he will be replaced as soon as he loses
one game. It s not an easy job to train this team and trying to get them to co operate, he is not only
needing to hone the students playing skills but also the team morale and the contradiction between
him and the assistant coach. The worst thing is the whole society resist this blended team. In this
film, Coach Boone perfectly demonstrates the Five

The Inheritance Of Loss By Kiran Desai
Colonialism phenomenon is one of the aspects in life that has significant impact towards people s
values, feelings, beliefs and experiences. The effect of past colonialism lasts in modern lives, and
thus referred to as post colonialism. Post colonialism refers to the residual effects of colonial
domination and its cultures. Indigenous people internalized colonizers values in almost every
aspect of their lives including the way of thinking, education, social system, culture, economy,
language, and so on. Colonizers values denigrate the values, moral, and even physical appearances
of formerly subjugated people. It produces negative self image and alienation from their indigenous
cultures (Tyson, 2006, 419). Kiran Desaiwas born in 1971 and one of the best writers in India. She
was fifteen years old when she left for England with her mother, Anita Desai, who is also a well
known author. After a year they moved to the U.S.A, where Desai has lived till date. She is a part

Superman Stereotypes
. A stereotypical male is supposed to enjoy fighting and superhero movies. According to the
American Psychological Association, watching superheroes may not be the best image for boys
to see if society wants to promote kinder, less stereotypical male behaviors If a male chose to
watch the Notebook, A Walk to Remember, or The Choice they would be judged by other males
calling them girly or a sissy. Why do the movies men choose to watch determines whether they
are masculine or not? If we look at the action movie Superman, he displays and strong heroic
character. Superman is 6 foot 3 inches, and weighs 225 pounds. His hair is jet black with a natural

George Wesley Bellow s Rain On The River
The artist George Wesley Bellow s oil painting, Rain on the river, 1908, 15 is s a famous piece of
art located in the Rhode Island School of Design Museum. In the RISD Museum George Wesley
Bellow s oil painting is located in the modern and contemporary gallery. The colors used by the
artist help tell the story of the painting. While observing the painting the smoke from the train
stood out the most, this seems to be the most important part for the curator. The bright modern
building makes George Wesley Bellow s painting stand out because of his use of dark colors.
George Wesley Bellow focuses on the white smoke from the train and the dark colors in his oil

German Revolts Dbq
The German Peasants Revolts were a series of revolts occurring from 1524 1526 in which
peasants ran amok throughout the German states, with some groups converging on the town of
Memmingen, Swabia, to form a Peasant Parliament and voice their grievances in the Twelve
Articles of the Swabian Peasants. The revolts were caused by religious teachings and abuse
inflicted by lords, and were responded to with support, as well as condemnation.
The revolts were quite connected to new religious teachings, as prior to and during the revolts, the
Protestant Reformation was taking hold, and with it the rise of Lutheranism in particular. Indeed,
Leonhard von Eck, the Chancellor of Bavaria, in his report to Duke Ludwig of Bavaria (Document
1) would go so far as to state that the primary cause of the revolts was Lutheran teachings. ... Show

Martin Luther himself delivered a stern condemnation of the rebels action in his piece Against the
Murdering, Thieving Hordes of Peasants (Document 7), in which he names MГјnzer as responsible
for the chaos. In document seven, Luther is clearly attempting to distance himself from MГјnzer
and the peasants, who were influenced by Lutheran teachings, so as to avoid the anger of those
who might see him as the cause of the revolts. THe revolts were condemned by secular forces as
well, as indicated by the Decree of the Imperial Diet of Speyer (Document 12). In document
twelve, as well as the Memmingen town council s reply to the Articles of the Peasants of
Memmingen (Document 4) the authorities appear to have adopted a certain degree of leniency
towards the peasants, enabling them to either purchase their freedom from their lords, or in the
case of document twelve, giving lords the ability to restore the previous status of peasants who
had rebelled. This was likely done in order to make those in power appear more benevolent in the
eyes of the peasantry, and lessening the likelihood of future

Essay On Lord Of The Flies Nature Vs Nurture
In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Goulding the boys are on a plane that is shot down
stranding them on an island with no adults. Eventually the boys behavior changes from civil to
savage and immoral this may be due to nature or nurture. Nature is the biological factors that
influence a person s behavior. Whereas nurture is the situation influencing behavior. The boys
savage and immoral behavior in Lord of the Flies should be blamed on nurture because no adult
authority figures were present to enforce rules and the boys don t know how to cooperate well.
The boys are influenced by nurture on the island this is shown by having no adults to make rules
and having everything fall apart. For example, We ve got to have rules and obey them. After all,
we re not savages. We re English, and the English are best at everything...I m chief. I was
chosen. Why should choosing make any difference? Just giving orders that don t make any sense .
(Goulding, 58 129). When the boys first get to the island they decide they are going to have rules
and follow them but as their stay continues they start to not only not follow the rules but they start
to question the leader that put them forth. Since the boys did not have any adults around they will
not listen to someone their age trying to enforce the rules they do not want to follow. Further
evidence is, Most of the participants said they had felt involved and committed. The research had
felt real to them. One... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

dispensation may be given without a government or semi government contract in terms of setting
up a branch in Oman. If the activity is deemed by the Council of Ministers to be of national
importance, in that case it could be allowed. Commercial Agency Foreign companies get the
preference in setting up business without commercial registration in Oman and running business
through commercial agents. Under the Commercial Agency Law in Oman, the agency
agreements are formally registered with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) which
is recommended. Commercial Representative Office In the purpose of marketing and promotion

Strategic Compensation And Bases For Pay
This paper will examine setting the stage for strategic compensation and bases for pay. There are
three main goals of compensation departments: internal consistency, market competitiveness, and
recognition of individual contributions. Internally consistent compensation systems define the
relative value of each job among all jobs within a company. (Martocchio, pg. 22, 2011) With this
system companies want employees to be paid more based on their qualifications and
responsibilities. They believe someone with less experience should be paid differently. To
determine such evaluation companies use job analysis in order to provide job descriptions. The job
evaluation is to determine pay according to a particular position. Market competitive... Show more

Some employees rely on the extra income every couple of months to help with expenses, but
because of the high taxes attached to the income depending on what the actual amount would be
may not be worth it at all. The purpose of most profit plans provides more financial flexibility to
the company. Profit sharing plans may fail to motivate employees because they do not see a
direct link between their efforts and corporate profits. Hourly employees may have trouble
seeing the connection because their efforts appear to be several steps removed from the
company s performance, and because company profits vary from year to year, employees receive
their earnings based off company profits. Employees will find it difficult to predict their
earnings, which will affect their saving and buying behavior. (Martocchio, pg. 97, 2011) Pay for
knowledge plans reward managerial, service, or professional workers for successfully learning
specific curricula. This program awards employees for the range, depth, and types of skills or
knowledge they are capable of applying productively to their jobs. (Martocchio, pg. 104, 2011)
Based on the pay for knowledge pay concepts, the three jobs for which this basis for pay is
inappropriate are: bus drivers, cashiers, and janitorial services. Bus drivers are all paid around the
same pay scale and the compensation may

The Football Of The Baseball Team
As everyone ran to the field eager and excited to begin their freshman year of football I
awkwardly stumbled along, following them as the field grew closer. I was scared, no; I was
absolutely petrified. Never before had I played a real sport. Sure I played a few seasons on the
city s little league baseball team, but in my young mind, that was surely nothing compared to
this. Tackle football: I had seen a few minutes of it when my dad and his friends watched, or when
my friends played Madden 05 . Although actually playing was another story altogether; I was sure
that my out of shape, chubby, fourteen year old body would collapse, and I would die.
Only now is it that I know that everyone else on that field was equally as scared as me; that, ...

At the time I fully believed he made us run just to make us stronger, also I think he got some

to compete for him. One day after practice, he pulled me aside before I could go back to the

Reflective Essay On Homelessness
Selflessness is defined as the act of giving without the expectation of anything in return. I believe
to be truly selfless you have to exhibit a quality of humility, by making a difference in the lives
of others in a positive manner. Parents have one of the most important jobs in the world, being
the field of making people is a tough job so I ve been told working three hundred sixty five days
twenty four hours seven days a week with no brakes in between must be hard. My mother who
loved with her whole being, tormented with a mental disability which caged her in the hospital
for the most of my adolescence, is a Christian woman who taught my sisters and I the values
having a giving and humility. My family and I have experienced homelessness more time than I
care to admit so when my mother saw a homeless women with her kids on the street and invited
them into her home without question, I saw how selfless services such as this can impact the
even one family. Growing up in this environment I couldn t help but to give back in the same
way. My sisters and I decided that every weekend, holiday or summer break we would show the
world the love we thought it needed. So instead of buying gifts for ourselves we cooked meals
made, hygiene packages, mowed lawns, babysat, cleaned garages for our peers elder and people
who just needed a helping hand, after natural disasters we would send clothing boxes along with

Physics Of Diagnostic Ultrasound
The Physics of Diagnostic Ultrasound
Introduction
Diagnostic ultrasound is one of the most common forms of medical imaging in use today. When
people think of ultrasound images or sonograms as they are also referred to, they may recall
grainy black and white images that are similar to x rays. However, with the exception of perhaps
developing fetuses, most have very limited knowledge of what they are actually looking at, let
alone how those images are created. Many people are aware that sound waves are used to produce
images but have no clue how the process works or the tremendous amount of physics involved.
There are numerous physics concepts involved in ultrasound imaging. Including, but not limited to,
velocity, frequency, and wavelength.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our ears convert sound waves into audible sounds for us to process. The sound waves used in
medical sonography must be generated by the machine itself to create the vibrations that travel
through body tissues and ultimately enable medical professionals to see images of the inside of
our bodies. Vaguely similar to humans who process the sounds we hear and can picture the source
in our minds if we are unable to see it directly, medical professionals use ultrasound to create
images in order to visualize internal structures. Using this method of imaging, physicians are able
to identify and visualize abnormalities and potential disease or confirm that we are healthy, or
whether a fetus is developing normally. While most people associate ultrasound imaging with
pregnant women, they are also used as a diagnostic tool in many other areas of medicine. For
example, in addition to obstetrics, ultrasound is used in cardiology as well. Cardiologists use this
technology to see inside the heart and identify any abnormalities, and they also use ultrasound
imaging to measure blood flow through the heart and major arteries. Additionally, urologists use
ultrasound imaging to visualize kidney stones or detect prostate cancer. Gynecologists also use
ultrasound to detect any abnormalities in a woman s reproductive system. Today, ultrasound
imaging is utilized in nearly every area of

Comparing James Lapine s Into The Woods And Stephen Sondheim
We watched Into the Woods by James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim. Honestly, when you said

The Government Should Help Students Pay For College Essay
Being able to attend and graduate college is a dream and the next step in life for many students.
However, going to college and finishing school are two completely different things. There has
been a decrease in students who completed college. Researchers are wondering, what is causing
students to not finish schooling? There are many reasons and questions to why it could be
affecting the completion of college rates. One of the main issue is the skyrocketing cost of college
tuitions. Majority of students are having stress and anxiety for not being able to afford college.
This result in having to take out a student loan and having to pay thousands of dollars after they
graduate. The last thing students want for their future is having to work... Show more content on

Researchers found that with all these expenses, colleges are not spending roughly the same amount
of money resulting in the rise of tuition cost. For example at public research Universities, spending
increased close to three thousand dollars per full time students (Matthew, 2013).
The second reason that Matthew mentions is that the state government are cutting funds from
education. He states that the issue is that the schoolК»s are getting money they used to get from the
government from students... Schools are having to find different ways to bring money in such as
fundraisers and donations. However, one of the main ways is that colleges have no choice but to
increase tuition to provide funds for current spendings. Also, according to this article, Matthew
explains how his mom graduated from University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1975 and during that
time, tuition cost was around 322 dollars. She graduated with no debt and was able to pay for her
tuition by working a part time job. However, in today s society it is completely different because
working a part time job will not be able to pay these high tuition cost. Students are constantly
working to pay for schooling and other expenses which affects their school performances. Many
students end up dropping out of college because they are not able to handle the stress and pressure
of working and keeping up with school. This proves that students are

MSC Qualification In Healthcare Leadership
On the 29th June 2015 I started my MSC qualification in Healthcare Leadership. I was given my
first assignment to deliver a teaching session to a small group of colleagues on why leadership
behaviours matters to health and social care. I was immediately anxious and nervous about
delivering this session, I didn t want to say the wrong thing or not be able to answer questions
properly. I did a teaching session a few weeks prior on a different subject and initially felt the same.
Afterwards, I was reassured in myself that I had delivered a well structured and informative session
that my colleagues could relate to.
At the time I did not feel that my colleagues were interested in the session or understood the
context that leaders can have an influence in patient care. One of the first reviews carried out
shows that leaders are able directly to affect the safety of their team s actions and outcomes an
extremely important finding for patient care. (Jenny Firth Cozens and Derek Mowbray). I decided
to develop the session around the Francis report of mid Staffordshire. This gave a true reflection
into why leadership behaviours directly affect patient care. This report was an example where
hundreds of people were let down by the NHS. The evidence from the inquiries showed there was

Different Definitions Of Being Creative
Option B Many people have activities that are significant to them that certain activity can be
described as being a special part of them, for me it would be being creative. The definition of
being creative in the dictionary is relating to or involving the imagination or original ideas,
especially in the production of artistic work. Though, there are many different definitions of being
creative in the world. What I will show the reader is what being creative means to me and why it s
significant. Now there are reasons for why this is significant to me, one gets to be imaginative,
artistic, and they get to travel, but there is more to it than that. First, in being creative for me splits
into different things I get to do while being creative and that the first thing would be being

Eurasian Steppes, East Of Korea On The Edges Of The Old...
Throughout Eurasian Steppes, east of Korea on the edges of the Gobi Desert and north of the
boundaries of the old Chinese empire and the Great Wall is where the modern day Mongolians
are located. They did not just settle amongst an entire continent and then some, they fought their
way towards civilization. Centuries ago they were named The Mongols , nomadic people that
were known for their military forces formed by the great Temujin s father before he died.
Temujin was too young to lead the land force and they would eventually destroy the clan from
the inside, fighting over the goods that were left. Once he became of age he assembled the
Mongols and perfected them for his plans of conquest. Temujin earned the actual name Genghis
(Chinggis) Khan for being the first great Khan of the Mongols and Universal Leader. His
dominant implementations gave the Mongols a purpose to march behind him along his journey
of conquering. Temujin established this name from symbolizing the role of a Great Khan with
perfection. He became the Great Unifier once he assembled his clan, which are considered today
to be the Mongols. To gain greater land his masterminded plan of conquest was to invade the
Western Xia Dynasty first, since they were claimed to be the weakest of the Northern kingdoms
along the Great Wall of China. The capital city of the Jing Dynasty, Yanjing, which is today s
Beijing was then overthrown by Kahn in the year of 1215. After every conquest including Jing he

Obstacles In The Antonia
Things will be easy for you. But they will be hard for us (p. 111). These words, spoken by
ГЃntonia, the protagonist of the novel My ГЃntonia , give light to the situation immigrants found
themselves in after moving to the North America s Western frontier. This novel reveals how
immigrants in the late 1800s and early 1900s had to overcome numerous obstacles on the path
towards The American Dream which those native to the area did not have to face. In the late 1800s,
America became more attractive to immigrants as they considered its growing economic
opportunity. Many families and individuals packed up their belongings and undertook the life
changing journey to the western frontierof America to pursue the American Dream. This was the...

Immigrating to the frontier with nothing but the belongings they could carry, these families would
have to start from scratch. The novel portrays how immigrants of this time started out behind as
they were forced to take loans from whomever they could to start their lives at their new homes.
Mr. Shimerda makes a point to explain to their new neighbors that in his former home, Bohemia,
they were not poor, but they became poor moving to America (p. 61). Immigrants struggled to
have enough money to begin their farms and often had to take out loans. A Russian immigrant
in the novel had to take out several loans to get by. These loans only grew from interest as he
was unable to pay the dues (p. 44). This resulted in him only growing more and more in debt and
being buried in mortgages. As most immigrants were in debt, they had to continue to labor
vigorously on their farms and were not able to gain the skills or education many non immigrants
were able to get. This meant they would not be able to one day obtain a higher paying knowledge
job in the city. For example, ГЃntonia desired to attend school, but when asked about it by her
neighbor, she insisted she was too busy with farm work to attend (p. 97). While ГЃntonia was
unable to attend school, her neighbor, Jim, was able to. As adults, Jim was a lawyer in the city
while ГЃntonia remained a mother in the frontier. This is just one example that unveils the different
levels of upward mobility and how they affected the immigrants in contrast to the

T-Mobile 1 Commercial Analysis
In the T Mobile 1 commercial it starts out with a middle aged man and Kristen Schaal. The
commercial was inspired off of the movie 50 Shades of Grey or the movie 50 Shades Darker,
which was made after the initial movie, 50 Shades of Grey. The two individuals enter the
playroom where numerous objects are seen hung all over the room. Schaal was being blindfolded
as she walked into the room. As the man starts to unravel the blindfold Schaal gasps in such
astonishment of the room. Later on the man starts stating the specific elements Verizon has to offer.
The more data the mobile user uses, the more punishments they will receive. Schaal was thrilled
acknowledging this information. The man later whips his whip and describes if mobile users are

It is logical for people wanting to save money on their phone bill. If the mobile user goes over
the limited amount then the cost will start to accumulate. Every time you go over your data
limit you get punished. Nobody would want to pay outrageous rate and fees. The gasps,
excitement, and the thrills is what created the pathos. Schaal was astonished by all the facts he
was saying because she was into that type of pain. T Mobile 1 argues that they are a more
reliable company with less punishing fees thus creating ethos. Symbolism is seen in this also.
The red Verizon phone screen seen dangling from the stand represents data being overly used
causing the phone bill to inflate. The whip also acts as a form of symbolism representing the
punishment. Another literary term that was involved during this commercial is parody. In
general the T Mobile 1 commercial imitates the movie 50 Shades of Grey. Irony could also be
included during this commercial because the mobile plan can sometimes cause people to be
indecisive on whether they want to feel the pain or not. In the commercial it said Wireless pain is
fine if you re into that sort of

Aliens Are Real Essay
Have you ever wondered if people actually got abducted by aliens? Will most people who say
they got abducted come back telling the exact same story as the other person who got abducted
and those people don t even know each other. This is super crazy to me because those people don
t even know each other. What are the odds people would tell the exact same story, unless they
actually got abducted. This proves that it wasn t a hoax and something actually did happen to
these people. After lots of research, I believe that aliens are real. There are too many galaxies and

Most people think that aliens are not real. I asked 26 people and 15 of them said no, they do not
believe in aliens. This proves my point that most people do not believe in aliens. I think this
because no one has ever seen one so how are they suppose to believe it. Also, the picture you see
on the internet of aliens are likely photoshopped. You would think people that took the picture
would take more than one. Also, why are all of the picture so blurry. Another, reason people do
not believe in aliens because they are not in the bible. We have been researching for like
hundreds of years and we haven t found anything so how do we know that we will ever find
anything. It is also unlikely people have the habitat it takes to live like we do. How come all aliens
look the exact same. Our universe is over 100 billion years old why would other life wait for us.
Life also needs a sable planet like earth to live and that is super unlikely to find another one. God
also specifically says that there is no other life then us. All of these years that humans have been
on earth you think they would of come by now. If aliens are on earth, why haven t there been
more pictures and videos. Like, the pictures people say they took of aliens, why don t they take
more than one. If you just saw a UFO you think they would take more than 1 picture and video. All
of this proves that aliens are not

Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Personal Report
Having a good understanding of your professional strengths and weaknesses is imperative to having
a successful career. It is also important to know what types of positions and projects would allow
you to utilize those strengths to benefit your career. Taking the GLEAM.org Network Assessment
and Motivational Style Assessment were very helpful in identifying some of those strengths and
weakness in my professional environment. The Networkassessment was especially interesting
because it was such a unique type of assessment. Both the size and density of my network was
defined as medium, which was a little bit surprising to me. Since over half of my network
contacts listed are coworkers, I was expecting the density and size to be small. While the size
and density of my network were average, my report indicates that I have weaker ties than the
average respondent. My Personal Network report identifies a benefit of this being that I could
potentially have access to a much broader range of information. The report also identifies the
disadvantage of this being that those weaker relationships would be unable to provide a higher
level of support if needed. The insight that this report provided me will be very helpful when
thinking about completion of the Master of Accounting (MAcc) program and my career over the
next five years. Identifying and fostering a healthy network (of both MAcc students and accounting
professionals) is crucial during a program as rigorous as the MAcc program.

On the date of April 15, 1921, Frederick Parmenter, the paymaster for the Slater and Morrill

After the division of the money, Frederick Parmenter was accompanied by a guard working for

Marian Wright Edelman was born on June 6, 1939. Edelman is an American activist for the

The way Edelman was raised was an inspiration to her and she knew she wanted to make a

The purpose of the organization is to to ensure every child a healthy start, a head start, a fair

Summary Of Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History
Oppression. It is the driving force behind many of the largest alterations in American history.
African Americans were oppressed due to their history of being kept as slaves even after this
practice was halted, the toxic remains of a society unwilling to recognize them as equals endured.
Women faced a similar hardship as gender roles forced them into lives of service. They devoted
their time to caring for their homes and husbands, even at the expense of their own potential careers
and educations. Both of these groups yearned to break these expectations. Women and African
Americans desired the freedom possessed by the white male. Malcolm X, author of Literacy Behind
Bars , chronicled this struggle to overcome the limitations placed on him due to his race. Laurel
Thatcher Ulrich, author of Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History , recorded instances of
women retaliating against these beliefs. Both Malcolm Xand Ulrich propagate a message of self
reliance through their individual implementations of connotative diction, details, and anecdotes.
Immediately, connotative diction is used by both Malcolm X and Ulrich to incite pathos. For
example, a majority of Malcolm X s work was focused on detailing his struggles. He describes his
initial writing as slow, painstaking, [and] ragged (641). In the time period which Malcolm X lived,
it was uncommon for an African American to possess an education. Before the emancipation of

A patient may be more readily harmed during an airlift rescue than during an on the ground rescue.
There are many additional challenges and other factors personnel involved in an air rescue must
account for compared to personnel in a ground rescue to ensure the safety of the survivor.
A panicking patient is a more common occurrence during an airlift rescue, which can cause
inadvertent harm to both the victim and the rescuer. As previously mentioned, a swimmer often
has to break away from a panicking survivor ( USCG RS Manual ). This, as well as panic in

Starch glue is the general name for adhesives made from wheat starch, potato starch, or cassava
starch modified with acids, alkalies, or oxidizing agents, it has poor resistance to moisture.
Commercial is obtained from the starch of tapioca, maize and sweet potatoes.
The halogen elements (fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine, and astatine) also serve as oxidizing
agents. When chloride combines with sodium chloride or common salt, the sodium atoms give up
electron to the chloride atoms.
A salt is derived from an acid when one or more hydrogen atoms of the acid are replaced by one or
more metal ions positively charged radicals.
Alkalies are usually salts or hydroxide of sodium potassium, lithium or ammonia.

some recent commentators, he does not dismiss the Cold Waras some kind of colossal mistake that

THE END OF HISTORY AND THE LAST MAN is the author s response. His thesis is simple.
The failure of communism and the disappearance of the Soviet Union has resulted in the victory of
liberal democracy and capitalism. There are, he claims, no more challengers. Security and freedom
have been achieved, and consequently, history has ended.
THE END OF HISTORY AND THE LAST MAN ignores the confusing events and details of
most history and is more philosophical, even teleological, in its orientation. The author states that
only liberal democracy and the market economy have satisfactorily provided what Plato claimed
to be necessary for happiness: the appetitive (food and sex), the reasoning (knowledge and truth),
and the need to be recognized as human. Hegel s concept of thesis, antithesis, and synthesis
explained the process of history, with liberal democracy as the final synthesis according to
Fukuyama. Marx, like Hegel, saw the world in a clash of evolving opposites, but while Marx
predicted that the triumph of communism would lead to the withering away of the state, Fukuyama
instead argues that with the victory of liberal democracy it is history that has

Disadvantages Of Co-Branding
Many companies in today s world of globalisation and with increasing pressure to become cost
effective and efficient, are looking for different ways to increase brand equity, brand affinity and in
general to expand their brand awareness (Stutz Schaffner, 2011). One consideration for companies
in answer to this is co brandingstrategies. As well as reinforcing brandimage and, co brandinghas
also become an increasingly strategic tool to capture higher market share and increase profits and
is seen to have the advantage of gaining access to new markets (Swaminathan, 2006). Advances
in technology have made co branding possibilities more accessible to many companies (Rid

joint product or when they are marketed together in some way (Kotler Armstrong, 2012) or with
two or more brand names being are presented to the customer jointly (Rao, Qu, Ruekert, 1999).
The advantages to companies of embarking on any co branding undertaking are well described
(Grebosz Otto, 2013; Stutz, 2011; Swaminathan, 2006) and almost considered even as a win win
for many organisation (Washburn, Till, Priluck, 2004). However, there... Show more content on

James Fenimore Cooper s Last of the Mohicans and Washington Irving s Legend of Sleepy Hollow

used to chart sociological changes within the male gender during pre Romantic and Romantic years.
But because neither Cooper nor Irving s works should be distanced from their cultural backdrops

According to Rotundo, the ideal man was one who ruled as head of his household, believed in the
crucial concept of duty, and upheld stern Puritan religious of morality and social behavior (as the
pleasant, mild mannered, devoted man of the community ). This good man image seems to
coincidentally parallel the English patriarchal gentleman of the seventeenth century.
Social and economic changes around 1820 to 1860 stimulated the Commercial Period, which
produced two distinct spheres of influence: the business world of men and the private domestic
world of women (Grace 10). Instead of the home being a means of production, industry s influence
was being felt for the first time, and with its arrival, men became connected to the public realm
more clearly, and conversely, women to the private realm (10).
But some of the changes also stemmed from politics of the day. At the time of the Revolutionary

to a change in global economy. She shrunk the public sector to favour privatized industry. She
came into power seeking to reduce inflation, reduce the budget deficit, increase economic
efficiency, increase home ownership, and reduce power of the trade unions. As will become
evident, Thatcher s controversial election changed western economics into a more capitalist
market which led to great economic growth in the UK and other western countries, greater social
inequality in Britain, and helped pave the way to power for women in the western world. Margaret
Thatcher s economic and political Legacy has shaped the western world. Thatcher denounced the
prolonged experiment of socialism in Britain as a miserable failure in every respect. Thatcher s
economic policies, aided by Reaganomics in the United States, promoted free trade, open markets,
privatization, and deregulation of the financial sector which was

Brat, you know why they put you in that boat? Because you were supposed to die, stupid. That s
why they put babies out to sea, to kill them when they re wrong. Like you (Springer 19). Mordred
denied it despite him hearing the rumors of his father. Merlin said so. You re evil born, everyone
knows it. King Arthur s son and nephew at the same time, what sort of human is that? You re a
walking curse. You re the one who s going to kill King Arthur that s why he tried to kill you

The Technology Of The Home Appliance Market
The ThermoWave is the newest advancement in the home appliance market, a device with the
capabilities to both heat food and beverages as well as cool them. Comparable in design to a
common countertop microwave, the ThermoWave has dimensions of 18 x30 x20 for our household
version. The ThermoWave comes in a stainless steel finish and is operated through a traditional
touch control numerical pad. Controls on the device allow for heating, cooling, defrosting, thawing,
as well as options for specific items such as poultry, beef, and popcorn. Our company has chosen to
market this appliance in department stores, discount retailers, and online. The ThermoWave is
priced at $159.99, which we feel is a fair market price for the devices capabilities and production
costs. Environmental forces that affect our product and company include: competitive,
technological, legal/regulatory, economic, and sociocultural. The environmental forces are
important because they are the influences behind the market and consumer buying. Lower
unemployment and inflation coupled with the current state of recovery that our country is in are all
positive forces for our company, while lower spending on appliances is a concern for us. Our
competition includes companies such as General Electric, Whirlpool, and Samsung, all titans of the
appliance industry. Though currently the ThermoWave is the only product of its kind, we are
expecting companies to emulate our product in the near future. Social media and the

Conscientious Objectors During WWII
In the past conscientious objectors have been imprisoned, executed, and stolen from for what they
believe in. During WWII many conscientious objectors were sent to work at mental institutions as
doctors, but ended up working as the equivalent to modern day custodians. The mental institutions
that were sent to work at were often referred to as hellholes because they were overcrowded, there
was a horrible stench, there was no furniture, and it consisted of many concrete rooms with half
naked humans slumped up against the walls. An account by Charles Lord, a conscientious objector
during WWII, says that you have three men taking care of 350 incontinent patients, with feces and
urine all over the floor . He was sent to work at Byberry, a Philadelphia

Glutamate Receptors
In glutamatergic synapses the neurotransmitter glutamate transmits nerve impulses. Glutamate is
the prevalent excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system (CNS). It can act on two
distinguished receptors: ligand gated ion channels (ionotropic receptors) and G protein coupled
receptors (metabotropic receptors). In addition, several drugs can interfere with glutamatergic such
as: Riluzole, N Acetylcysteine (NAC) and Tezampanel.
Synaptic transmission (i.e. the process of information transfer at a synapse) may be accomplished
in two distinguished manners: electrically and chemically. Chemical synapses are the most
prevalent synapses in the human nervous system. Both their synaptic cleft, which is approximately
20 50 nm wide, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nonetheless, all these subtypes express a common basic structure, i.e. the presence of four
hydrophobic regions (TM I, TM II, TM III and TM IV), an extracellular N terminus and an
intracellular C terminus (Bristol.ac.uk, 2015). NMDA receptors are formed by two distinctive
subunit families: GluN1 and GluN2. GluN1 is a fundamental component of all NMDA receptors
and it binds to one of the four GluN2 subunits (GluN2A D). This means that NMDA receptors
located in different parts of the brain may have different pharmacological and biological properties
and may as well act differently. Furthermore, in order for the NMDA receptor to fully work it
requires glycine (co agonist in this case) to bind to the GluN1 subunit and glutamate to bind to the
GluN2 subunit. On the other hand, AMPA receptors are formed by subunits of GluA1 4 while
kainate receptors are formed by GluK1 3 and GluK4,5 subunits and are essential for synaptic
plasticity (i.e. changing the strength of synapses, which might be linked to memory and learning).
Furthermore, AMPA receptors and kainate receptors mediate fast excitatory transmission while
NMDA, which usually coexist with AMPA receptors, mediate a slower excitatory transmission

It is claimed to be a process that creates benefits by facilitating a change in customer, a change in
their physical possession, or a change in their intangible assets. Intangible benefits are becoming
more important as they are the source of competitive advantage for many service businesses. Both
the technical and soft skills of service employees are instrumental in delivering such intangible
benefits through increasingly customized and complex services. However, such strategies may not
be sustainable as the demand for highly skilled service employees is threatening to outstrip the
supply. A service business is the one where the perceived value of offering is determined more in
terms of services rendered than the actual product offered. The growth and development of services
industry in India has been immense and has largely dominated the traditional primary and
secondary industries. The service industry now accounts for more than two third of the India s
economy (Finance Markets, June 2009). Amongst the services sector, the hotel industry is the
fastest growing industry and was valued at ВЈ511.5 billion 6 in 2008 09. The industry has grown
significantly over years both in terms of sales and number of rooms, however recently has been
facing challenges both in terms of lower occupancies7 and ARRs 8(Average room rates) (Indian

The Importance Of Freedom In My Wood
Freedom in My Wood In this essay, we will be covering My Wood and the irony regarding the
effects of ownership and property. With the use of irony, E.M. Forster s My Wood, illustrates the
negative impact that comes from owning things, and how above all else freedom is what we
should strive for. In the tale My Wood, it displays ideas that Forster had in regard to ownershipand
lack of freedom. This essay will explore those important aspects deeper. It will encompass the
very irony at the core of Forster s opinions. It will also demonstrate just how devastating being an
owner and having things and desiring things is. Lastly, this essay will explore just how important
and applicable, these ideas are today in our current social... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Though the way he uses irony is dark it is effective. It made people think more about their own
lives and on the materialism in their world at that time. Incidentally, the essay leaves you with the
thought of what the real effects of ownership and property are.
So, what really was the way that Forster used best to reveal the effects of ownership? Well it all
started with his four points. In a way, he created a list of all the things you should avoid if you want
to be happy and unburdened. That s the first step the heavy burden that possessing something
like his Wood is, as Forster states, Property produces men of weight, and it is a man of weight
who failed to get into the Kingdom of Heaven (Forster 247). It is a prime example of the
beginning, the beginning of the loss of freedom both within yourself and within your life. So, in
essence someone wants something they receive it and it leaves them with the burden of it being
theirs. Second point was feeling that this ownership would bring happiness. What it did was create
a desire for more, it created this restless unfulfillment and a need to protect something that did not
bring the desired freedom. This second point showed that ownership created a desire an
unquenchable desire and an anxiety to protect that desire that did not bring the desired freedom.
The third point was that owning

Essay On College Is Not Worth A Degree
College, Is it worth it?
To most people college is their goal at succeeding in life. Whether you get a scholarship or pay
yourself, college is expensive. To some it is a waste of time and money due to the fact that,
graduates are not getting their money s worth in their degree, they are burdened by student loans,
and their degree does not guarantee them a job. With that and a growing tuition rate, most people
can t afford a higher education. College is simply not worth the cost anymore.
With the rise in minimum wage nationwide, things cost a lot more. That doesn t mean you have
$42,500 to pay for college yearly,(CNBC 2015). That s a lot of money if you re not working.
Even state colleges are charging $19,000(CNBC 2015). And considering you re going to need a
loan, That s going to add to our nationwide student loan debt of 1.2Trillion,(CNBC 2015). But due
to the fact that you could earn enough money to pay back all that debt, it is still appealing to most
people. The thing is going to college is a lot like gambling. You go hoping that you can get your
degree, and earn more later on. But like gambling, you can lose everything. ... Show more content

It is proven that taking out any loan in college reduce the student s experience in school (npr
2015). What s more interesting is that less than 20% who took out a loan felt that it was worth it
( npr 2015). In taking out loans you would need some time to pay them. The standard repayment
plan for federal student loans is 10 year s (us news 2014). But the average bachelor degree holder
takes 21 years to pay off (us news 2014), That is 11 more years than planned. Assuming that
students went to college at the age of 19, they would be 44 years old when they finished paying
back their student loans. And if they file for bankruptcy in that 21 year period, they still have to

The And Health Care System
Imagine you are a soldier named Connor who spends many years fighting to protect the lives of
Americans. When you retire from service you continue to fight, this time for your own life. When
veterans come home some of them suffer from mental illnesses, infectious diseases, or hearing loss
just to name a few. You are a veteranthat suffers from an infectious disease called leishmaniasis, it
is fatal if untreated. You wait for numerous months to get care from the V.A. medical center. Once
it is time for your appointment the parasitic disease leishmaniasis has already spread through most
of the body. A few weeks later doctors declare you dead, your family is angry at the V.A. health
care
system because you did not receive health care sooner. The U.S. veteran s health care system fails
veterans due to their long wait times but can be fixed by applying the triagesystem.
In the current system, you are given an appointment based on which patient schedules their
appointment first. Some veterans die before they even attend an appointment, causing other
veterans to wait in vain. The reason why some veterans die before their appointment is because they
do not receive care quickly. This is due to the system not taking into consideration the patient s
condition when scheduling appointments. For example, if there are two patients, one with a life
threating condition and one with a minor injury. If the patient with a minor injury schedules an
appointment first, the patient with a life

The Effects Of Ice On The Australian Government
Purpose:
It has been widely published within the Australian media that there is currently an ice epidemic and
the Australian Government has established a national Ice Taskforce in response to the drug
problem the country is facing (Australian Government 2015). Ice is also known as crystal
methamphetamine and comes in a translucent or white crystal or crystalline powder (Buxton Dove,
2008). The illicit drug can be smoked, snorted, injected or swallowed and is the most potent form of
methamphetamine because of its high purity (Buxton Dove, 2008). Methamphetamine is an
extremely addictive psycho stimulant that affects the brain and central nervous system, resulting in
the release of high levels of the neurotransmitter dopamine into areas of the brain that regulate
feelings of pleasure (Caplan, 2008). Other types of methamphetamine include speed and base which
are lower in purity then crystal methamphetamine which results in ice having worse side effects and
a higher likelihood of addiction (Lewis, 2008). The consequences of ice use encompass all
components of life including health, social and economic. This briefing paper aims to determine
the extent of crystal methamphetamine usage in Australia and particularly Queensland. The paper
will also discuss and develop recommendations on drug policy intervention that will best combat ice
usage and ultimately prevent future illicit drug use as well as minimise the harm caused to drug
users and the community. Summary of

Character Changes In Roald Dahl s Lamb To The Slaughter
Imagine if you were in a happy relationship and then you got slaughtered by a frozen lamb leg.
Lamb to the Slaughter by Roald Dahl is a story about a husband and wife, and their relationship.
Throughout the story, Mary and Patrick go through many changes. In Lamb to the Slaughter by
Roald Dahl, Mary undergoes many character changes, mainly motivated by Patrick leaving her,
Patrick s death, and covering up her crime. Mary starts off the story very happy. She has the
picture perfect life, as She loved him for the way he sat loosely in a chair, for the way he came
in a door, or moved slowly across the room with long strides. She loved intent, far look in his eyes
when they rested in her, the funny shape of the mouth, and especially the way he remained silent
about his tiredness, sitting still with himself until the whiskey had taken some of it away (Dahl 1).
Mary loves her husbandso much, she thinks that everything is perfect, she has the perfect
husband and the perfect baby on the way. Everything is perfect until Patrick says, I ve got
something to tell you (Dahl 2). Patrick tells Mary that he is leaving her, he will give her money
and make sure she and the baby were taken care of, but he is leaving. Mary is not happy, Her first
instinct was not to believe any of it, to reject it all. It occurred to her that perhaps he hadn t even
spoken, that she herself had imagined the whole thing (Dahl 2). Mary is devastated, her life is
falling apart and she is trying to keep it all together. This is where we see a big change in Mary.
She goes to get meat for supper, when she returns Patrick says, For God s sake, he said, hearing
her, but not turning round. Don t make supper for me. I m going out. At that point, Mary
Maloney simply walked up behind him and without any pause she swung the big frozen leg of
lamb high in the air and brought it down as hard as she could on the back of his head (Dahl 2).
Mary has been pushed over the edge here, she was so frustrated and betrayed that she reacted
rashly. Her character just completely shifted. She was so happy with the perfect life, now she
doesn t have a husband and she s a murderer. She has to think about what is going to happen next

The History of Iwo Jima Essay
Introduction The island of Iwo Jima is just one of the many islands in the pacific that make up
the island chain of Ogasawara. The Ogasawara chain of islands are located approximately 750
miles south of Tokyo. In comparison to most of the other islands in the pacific Iwo Jima is
relatively small, in fact it is only four and a half miles long by two and a half miles wide. The
geographic layout of Iwo Jima consists of a dormant volcano on the northern side called Mount
Suribachi and a flat stretch of land to the south. So why is such a small island so important? After
the surprise attack by the Japanese on Pearl Harbor America needed a place to stage aircraft for

Even though he had some buildings built to satisfy his command his primary focus was on the
construction of an elaborate system of tunnels underground that connected every part of the
island. The General learned that if he mixed the natural volcanic ash on the island with concrete
it mad an almost indestructible barrier. All together General Kuribayashi built over eleven
miles of tunnels which housed a number of rooms to accommodate all of his needs. On the
south side of the island he constructed an airfield for the Japanese fighter planes to use. When
America did attack all of the buildings were destroyed just as General Kuribayashi predicted.
Deployment The American invasion of Iwo Jima began on February 19, 1945 and continued till
March 26, 1945, a battle that only lasted 36 days, yet had some of the most ferocious fighting and
casualties ever seen. Execution/Action In an effort to weaken the Japanese defenses located on
Iwo Jima America began a bombing raid that started on December 8th, 1944 and lasted for 70
days, there were over 5800 tons of bombs dropped on the island. Three days before the Marines
invasion the Navy provided a three day bombardment with naval guns from over four hundred and
fifty ships that were massed just off the island; they also launched an additional one hundred
airplanes that continued to bomb the island until the Marines assaulted the island on foot.

Case Study Of Chlorella Vulgaris
Introduction
Water pollution has been one of the factors that affect life in the aquatic environments, toxic
chemicals as well as human wastes are thrown in the river ways causing unbalanced and
unsustainable ecosystem to most organisms. This manner does not only harm other species but also
affect the human beings, it has caused diseases and the river banks were abandoned. In this case,
the researcher observed that this problem is still continually rising even though there have been a
lot of projects concerning the cleanliness and healthiness of the river banks.
Before, native Filipinos praise nature as their god, a belief that people should somehow take care
of the environment to avoid angry gods that cause calamities. This belief is also known as karma
wherein you take consequences from your actions. Today, this belief is still imparted to the younger
generations yet not practice by everyone.

The Gap in Social Classes in Detroit
With Detroit being the most segregated city in the country, the center with the richest business
industries mixed along with the largest minority middle class anywhere, much controversy is
occurring and it is causing many issues to the surrounding metropolitan area. Due to such a large
gap in social classes, status frustration has led to a spike in racial tensions causing more crime.
Because of this Detroithas become a main focus of many local news reports. Many Detroit
residents are becoming upset with the fact that only negative reports have made the front covers
of newspapers giving Detroit a false image. This has been proven true with many television
shows, movies, and video game images. The previously aired show Detroit 1 8 7, an American
crime drama about Detroit s leading homicide unit, was taken off air because it gave a negative
outlook on the Detroit area. The show s producer, David Zabel stated that even though it was
show about crime, there still was an opportunity to give the city positive light because of the
heroic people that do fight for the city s justice. After reading many commentaries on this show,
the conclusion that the people of Detroit say the people of the city are not as mean and violent as
the shows producers make them seem. In 1974, Detroit was given the nickname of Murder City

  • 2. Remember The Tians Is A Sports Movie Based On A True Story Remember the Tians is a sports movie based on a true story. The movie is about racism and how the characters abandon prejudices between each other in order to win the game. The 1970s was the era for American African civil rights movements. In Virginia, located in the south center of the United States, the population were still very conservative. There s a high school football team called the Titans with only white players. Yet, the school followed the racial integration policy which accepted many black students. This caused the Titan team to become a blended team. In addition, the school also demoted the already extremely successful white Coach Yoast and let a black man Boone to be the head coach because of the policy. Many white students and their parents protested and threatened they are going to quit. The residents were also are the same as these students, as they had suspicious and had doubts. Black man in a superior position towards a white man is a very dissonant combination, and the team players despised each other. Even the school didn t support Coach Boone and claimed he will be replaced as soon as he loses one game. It s not an easy job to train this team and trying to get them to co operate, he is not only needing to hone the students playing skills but also the team morale and the contradiction between him and the assistant coach. The worst thing is the whole society resist this blended team. In this film, Coach Boone perfectly demonstrates the Five ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Inheritance Of Loss By Kiran Desai Colonialism phenomenon is one of the aspects in life that has significant impact towards people s values, feelings, beliefs and experiences. The effect of past colonialism lasts in modern lives, and thus referred to as post colonialism. Post colonialism refers to the residual effects of colonial domination and its cultures. Indigenous people internalized colonizers values in almost every aspect of their lives including the way of thinking, education, social system, culture, economy, language, and so on. Colonizers values denigrate the values, moral, and even physical appearances of formerly subjugated people. It produces negative self image and alienation from their indigenous cultures (Tyson, 2006, 419). Kiran Desaiwas born in 1971 and one of the best writers in India. She was fifteen years old when she left for England with her mother, Anita Desai, who is also a well known author. After a year they moved to the U.S.A, where Desai has lived till date. George Wesley Bellow s Rain On The River The artist George Wesley Bellow s oil painting, Rain on the river, 1908, 15 is s a famous piece of art located in the Rhode Island School of Design Museum. In the RISD Museum George Wesley Bellow s oil painting is located in the modern and contemporary gallery. The colors used by the artist help tell the story of the painting. While observing the painting the smoke from the train stood out the most, this seems to be the most important part for the curator. The bright modern building makes George Wesley Bellow s painting stand out because of his use of dark colors. • 7. German Revolts Dbq The German Peasants Revolts were a series of revolts occurring from 1524 1526 in which peasants ran amok throughout the German states, with some groups converging on the town of Memmingen, Swabia, to form a Peasant Parliament and voice their grievances in the Twelve Articles of the Swabian Peasants. The revolts were caused by religious teachings and abuse inflicted by lords, and were responded to with support, as well as condemnation. The revolts were quite connected to new religious teachings, as prior to and during the revolts, the Protestant Reformation was taking hold, and with it the rise of Lutheranism in particular. Indeed, Leonhard von Eck, the Chancellor of Bavaria, in his report to Duke Ludwig of Bavaria (Document 1) would go so far as to state that the primary cause of the revolts was Lutheran teachings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Martin Luther himself delivered a stern condemnation of the rebels action in his piece Against the Murdering, Thieving Hordes of Peasants (Document 7), in which he names MГјnzer as responsible for the chaos. In document seven, Luther is clearly attempting to distance himself from MГјnzer and the peasants, who were influenced by Lutheran teachings, so as to avoid the anger of those who might see him as the cause of the revolts. THe revolts were condemned by secular forces as well, as indicated by the Decree of the Imperial Diet of Speyer (Document 12). In document twelve, as well as the Memmingen town council s reply to the Articles of the Peasants of Memmingen (Document 4) the authorities appear to have adopted a certain degree of leniency towards the peasants, enabling them to either purchase their freedom from their lords, or in the case of document twelve, giving lords the ability to restore the previous status of peasants who had rebelled. This was likely done in order to make those in power appear more benevolent in the eyes of the peasantry, and lessening the likelihood of future ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Essay On Lord Of The Flies Nature Vs Nurture In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Goulding the boys are on a plane that is shot down stranding them on an island with no adults. Eventually the boys behavior changes from civil to savage and immoral this may be due to nature or nurture. Nature is the biological factors that influence a person s behavior. Whereas nurture is the situation influencing behavior. The boys savage and immoral behavior in Lord of the Flies should be blamed on nurture because no adult authority figures were present to enforce rules and the boys don t know how to cooperate well. The boys are influenced by nurture on the island this is shown by having no adults to make rules and having everything fall apart. For example, We ve got to have rules and obey them. After all, we re not savages. We re English, and the English are best at everything...I m chief. I was chosen. Why should choosing make any difference? Just giving orders that don t make any sense . (Goulding, 58 129). When the boys first get to the island they decide they are going to have rules and follow them but as their stay continues they start to not only not follow the rules but they start to question the leader that put them forth. Since the boys did not have any adults around they will not listen to someone their age trying to enforce the rules they do not want to follow. Further evidence is, Most of the participants said they had felt involved and committed. The research had felt real to them. One... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 10. Strategic Compensation And Bases For Pay This paper will examine setting the stage for strategic compensation and bases for pay. There are three main goals of compensation departments: internal consistency, market competitiveness, and recognition of individual contributions. Internally consistent compensation systems define the relative value of each job among all jobs within a company. (Martocchio, pg. 22, 2011) With this system companies want employees to be paid more based on their qualifications and responsibilities. They believe someone with less experience should be paid differently. To determine such evaluation companies use job analysis in order to provide job descriptions. Profit sharing plans may fail to motivate employees because they do not see a direct link between their efforts and corporate profits. Hourly employees may have trouble seeing the connection because their efforts appear to be several steps removed from the company s performance, and because company profits vary from year to year, employees receive their earnings based off company profits. Employees will find it difficult to predict their earnings, which will affect their saving and buying behavior. When people think of ultrasound images or sonograms as they are also referred to, they may recall grainy black and white images that are similar to x rays. However, with the exception of perhaps developing fetuses, most have very limited knowledge of what they are actually looking at, let alone how those images are created. There are numerous physics concepts involved in ultrasound imaging. Including, but not limited to, velocity, frequency, and wavelength.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our ears convert sound waves into audible sounds for us to process. The sound waves used in medical sonography must be generated by the machine itself to create the vibrations that travel through body tissues and ultimately enable medical professionals to see images of the inside of our bodies. Vaguely similar to humans who process the sounds we hear and can picture the source in our minds if we are unable to see it directly, medical professionals use ultrasound to create images in order to visualize internal structures. Using this method of imaging, physicians are able to identify and visualize abnormalities and potential disease or confirm that we are healthy, or whether a fetus is developing normally. While most people associate ultrasound imaging with pregnant women, they are also used as a diagnostic tool in many other areas of medicine. For example, in addition to obstetrics, ultrasound is used in cardiology as well. Cardiologists use this technology to see inside the heart and identify any abnormalities, and they also use ultrasound imaging to measure blood flow through the heart and major arteries. Additionally, urologists use ultrasound imaging to visualize kidney stones or detect prostate cancer. Gynecologists also use ultrasound to detect any abnormalities in a woman s reproductive system. However, going to college and finishing school are two completely different things. There has been a decrease in students who completed college. Researchers are wondering, what is causing students to not finish schooling? There are many reasons and questions to why it could be affecting the completion of college rates. One of the main issue is the skyrocketing cost of college tuitions. Majority of students are having stress and anxiety for not being able to afford college. He states that the issue is that the schoolК»s are getting money they used to get from the government from students... Schools are having to find different ways to bring money in such as fundraisers and donations. However, one of the main ways is that colleges have no choice but to increase tuition to provide funds for current spendings. Also, according to this article, Matthew explains how his mom graduated from University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1975 and during that time, tuition cost was around 322 dollars. She graduated with no debt and was able to pay for her tuition by working a part time job. However, in today s society it is completely different because working a part time job will not be able to pay these high tuition cost. Students are constantly working to pay for schooling and other expenses which affects their school performances. Many students end up dropping out of college because they are not able to handle the stress and pressure of working and keeping up with school. This proves that students are ... I was given my first assignment to deliver a teaching session to a small group of colleagues on why leadership behaviours matters to health and social care. I was immediately anxious and nervous about delivering this session, I didn t want to say the wrong thing or not be able to answer questions properly. I did a teaching session a few weeks prior on a different subject and initially felt the same. Afterwards, I was reassured in myself that I had delivered a well structured and informative session that my colleagues could relate to. At the time I did not feel that my colleagues were interested in the session or understood the context that leaders can have an influence in patient care. One of the first reviews carried out shows that leaders are able directly to affect the safety of their team s actions and outcomes an extremely important finding for patient care. (Jenny Firth Cozens and Derek Mowbray). I decided to develop the session around the Francis report of mid Staffordshire. This gave a true reflection into why leadership behaviours directly affect patient care. This report was an example where hundreds of people were let down by the NHS. Throughout Eurasian Steppes, east of Korea on the edges of the Gobi Desert and north of the boundaries of the old Chinese empire and the Great Wall is where the modern day Mongolians are located. They did not just settle amongst an entire continent and then some, they fought their way towards civilization. Centuries ago they were named The Mongols , nomadic people that were known for their military forces formed by the great Temujin s father before he died. Temujin was too young to lead the land force and they would eventually destroy the clan from the inside, fighting over the goods that were left. Mr. Shimerda makes a point to explain to their new neighbors that in his former home, Bohemia, they were not poor, but they became poor moving to America (p. 61). Immigrants struggled to have enough money to begin their farms and often had to take out loans. A Russian immigrant in the novel had to take out several loans to get by. These loans only grew from interest as he was unable to pay the dues (p. 44). This resulted in him only growing more and more in debt and being buried in mortgages. As most immigrants were in debt, they had to continue to labor vigorously on their farms and were not able to gain the skills or education many non immigrants were able to get. This meant they would not be able to one day obtain a higher paying knowledge job in the city. For example, ГЃntonia desired to attend school, but when asked about it by her neighbor, she insisted she was too busy with farm work to attend (p. 97). Co branding can be described as the combining of two or more brands into a joint product or when they are marketed together in some way (Kotler Armstrong, 2012) or with two or more brand names being are presented to the customer jointly (Rao, Qu, Ruekert, 1999). The advantages to companies of embarking on any co branding undertaking are well described (Grebosz Otto, 2013; Stutz, 2011; Swaminathan, 2006) and almost considered even as a win win for many organisation (Washburn, Till, Priluck, 2004). Masculinity of the Romantic American Male in Cooper s Last of the Mohicans and Irving s Legend of Sleepy Hollow James Fenimore Cooper s Last of the Mohicans and Washington Irving s Legend of Sleepy Hollow are valuable examples of literary heavyweights of the Romantic era, but in addition, can also be used to chart sociological changes within the male gender during pre Romantic and Romantic years. According to Rotundo, the ideal man was one who ruled as head of his household, believed in the crucial concept of duty, and upheld stern Puritan religious of morality and social behavior (as the pleasant, mild mannered, devoted man of the community ). This good man image seems to coincidentally parallel the English patriarchal gentleman of the seventeenth century. Social and economic changes around 1820 to 1860 stimulated the Commercial Period, which produced two distinct spheres of influence: the business world of men and the private domestic world of women (Grace 10). Instead of the home being a means of production, industry s influence was being felt for the first time, and with its arrival, men became connected to the public realm more clearly, and conversely, women to the private realm (10). But some of the changes also stemmed from politics of the day. At the time of the Revolutionary War, political upheaval pitched American sons against American fathers, and England s social influence over her angered citizens began to wane (Manhood 18). The Historical Significance Of Margaret Thatcher 1979 Election of Margaret Thatcher: Its Historical Significance in Western Civilization Meggan Shields 1431618 1113 Words Western Civilization 330 910 (434) Marc Charpentier November 9, 2015 Margaret Thatcher was elected into office as the Conservative Party leader in 1979 in Britain. She replaced the Labour party s James Callaghan, and ended the Labour party s 5 year leadership. Thatcher was elected around the same time as her North American counterparts Ronald Raegan and Brian Mulroney who had similar conservative economic ideologies, which led to a change in global economy. She shrunk the public sector to favour privatized industry. She came into power seeking to reduce inflation, reduce the budget deficit, increase economic efficiency, increase home ownership, and reduce power of the trade unions. As will become evident, Thatcher s controversial election changed western economics into a more capitalist market which led to great economic growth in the UK and other western countries, greater social inequality in Britain, and helped pave the way to power for women in the western world. Margaret Thatcher s economic and political Legacy has shaped the western world. Thatcher denounced the prolonged experiment of socialism in Britain as a miserable failure in every respect. The ThermoWave is priced at $159.99, which we feel is a fair market price for the devices capabilities and production costs. Environmental forces that affect our product and company include: competitive, technological, legal/regulatory, economic, and sociocultural. The environmental forces are important because they are the influences behind the market and consumer buying. Lower unemployment and inflation coupled with the current state of recovery that our country is in are all positive forces for our company, while lower spending on appliances is a concern for us. In addition, several drugs can interfere with glutamatergic such as: Riluzole, N Acetylcysteine (NAC) and Tezampanel. Nonetheless, all these subtypes express a common basic structure, i.e. the presence of four hydrophobic regions (TM I, TM II, TM III and TM IV), an extracellular N terminus and an intracellular C terminus (Bristol.ac.uk, 2015). NMDA receptors are formed by two distinctive subunit families: GluN1 and GluN2. GluN1 is a fundamental component of all NMDA receptors and it binds to one of the four GluN2 subunits (GluN2A D). This means that NMDA receptors located in different parts of the brain may have different pharmacological and biological properties and may as well act differently. Furthermore, in order for the NMDA receptor to fully work it requires glycine (co agonist in this case) to bind to the GluN1 subunit and glutamate to bind to the GluN2 subunit. On the other hand, AMPA receptors are formed by subunits of GluA1 4 while kainate receptors are formed by GluK1 3 and GluK4,5 subunits and are essential for synaptic plasticity (i.e. changing the strength of synapses, which might be linked to memory and learning). Though the way he uses irony is dark it is effective. It made people think more about their own lives and on the materialism in their world at that time. Incidentally, the essay leaves you with the thought of what the real effects of ownership and property are. So, what really was the way that Forster used best to reveal the effects of ownership? Well it all started with his four points. In a way, he created a list of all the things you should avoid if you want to be happy and unburdened. That s the first step the heavy burden that possessing something like his Wood is, as Forster states, Property produces men of weight, and it is a man of weight who failed to get into the Kingdom of Heaven (Forster 247). It is a prime example of the beginning, the beginning of the loss of freedom both within yourself and within your life. So, in essence someone wants something they receive it and it leaves them with the burden of it being theirs. Second point was feeling that this ownership would bring happiness. What it did was create a desire for more, it created this restless unfulfillment and a need to protect something that did not bring the desired freedom. This second point showed that ownership created a desire an unquenchable desire and an anxiety to protect that desire that did not bring the desired freedom. The third point was that owning ... Whether you get a scholarship or pay yourself, college is expensive. To some it is a waste of time and money due to the fact that, graduates are not getting their money s worth in their degree, they are burdened by student loans, and their degree does not guarantee them a job. The Effects Of Ice On The Australian Government Purpose: It has been widely published within the Australian media that there is currently an ice epidemic and the Australian Government has established a national Ice Taskforce in response to the drug problem the country is facing (Australian Government 2015). Ice is also known as crystal methamphetamine and comes in a translucent or white crystal or crystalline powder (Buxton Dove, 2008). The illicit drug can be smoked, snorted, injected or swallowed and is the most potent form of methamphetamine because of its high purity (Buxton Dove, 2008). Methamphetamine is an extremely addictive psycho stimulant that affects the brain and central nervous system, resulting in the release of high levels of the neurotransmitter dopamine into areas of the brain that regulate feelings of pleasure (Caplan, 2008). Other types of methamphetamine include speed and base which are lower in purity then crystal methamphetamine which results in ice having worse side effects and a higher likelihood of addiction (Lewis, 2008). The consequences of ice use encompass all components of life including health, social and economic. This briefing paper aims to determine the extent of crystal methamphetamine usage in Australia and particularly Queensland. The paper will also discuss and develop recommendations on drug policy intervention that will best combat ice usage and ultimately prevent future illicit drug use as well as minimise the harm caused to drug users and the community. Everything is perfect until Patrick says, I ve got something to tell you (Dahl 2). Patrick tells Mary that he is leaving her, he will give her money and make sure she and the baby were taken care of, but he is leaving. Mary is not happy, Her first instinct was not to believe any of it, to reject it all. It occurred to her that perhaps he hadn t even spoken, that she herself had imagined the whole thing (Dahl 2).
