As youcan see mostof the people thatrespondedtomysurveywere
below 18. The settingandcharacter therefore the characterwithin
our videoshouldbe recognisableforthe audience.Forexample we
can assume that mostpeople below 18are in school or college and
that couldbe a considerationforasetting.Otherquestions
throughoutthe questionnaire alsohelptoestablishatargetaudience.
The majorityof the people thatrespondedtomyquestionnaire were
femalesand we canassume mostof themare below 18 because of
the resultsabove.Thisgivesusanideaof who will be watchingthe
videoandultimatelywhoshouldbe representedwithinmyvideo. This
wouldbe more appealingtothe audience becauseif theycanrelate
to a persontheyare muchmore likelytohave anemotional
connectionwiththe characterina video.
There are a wide range of genresidentified bythe participants.Asyou
can see the two mostpreferredgenresare RockandPop Punk,which
the song I am usingcan claimto be both. Rock and poprock generally
have similarthemesandconventionssuchasdarkcoloursand
clothing.There are alsocommonthemesseenthroughoutthese
videossuchas bullying.Thisisbecause the musicandlyricsare
generallymore emotional.
As youcan see the majorityof the people questionedsaidthey
watchedmusicvideos.However,30% saidthat theydidn’t.This
meansthat I will have tosee whatotherpeople lookforinthe videos
(see question10) andtry and developthose pointandinclude some
of the featurestomake themappeal toeveryone.
Like the genre questionpreviously,there are arange of different
answersgiveninthisquestion.Asyoucan see the mostpreferred
videoformatis performance basedsoIshouldinclude some form
of performance inmymusicvideo.Inaddition,there are also
answersgivenfornarrative andabstract.I couldinclude a
narrative inreference tothe characterI spoke of possible creating
inthe firsttwo questions.
100% of the people whorespondedtomyquestionnaire have
heardof the bandwhichmeanstheyare more likelytowatchthe
videoastheyare aware of the band.It will alsohelptoinformus
on whichsongchoice wouldbe better;amore knownsongis
more likelytogenerate views.
The most populartwosongsthat the participantshave heardof
are DemonsandRadioactive,therefore Ishouldconsiderbothof
these songs.If I were tochoose Radioactive,whichisthe second
mostknownsong,thenit mightgrow in popularityandbecome as
well-knownasDemons.
The use of character withinavideoseemstobe the thingmost
people lookoutfor,closelyfollowedbyeditingandnarrative. As
statedinthe first andsecond questionanalysiswe have anidea
that the character inorder to be relatable,itshouldbe afemale
about17 yearsof age. The editingandnarrative are alsofeatures
whichwe shouldinclude.Editingshouldbe concentratedonin
post-production,tryingtomake sure the clipsare on the beat.The
narrative will alsohave toworkincohesionwiththe characterthat
we will establish.Fornarrative we willalsohave totake setting
and dresscode intoconsideration.
As youcan see manypeople questioneddidn’tcare about
whetherornot the videowasfunnyorserioustherefore we
wouldnothave to go downone specificroute.However,with
the character we have begunto establishabove andthe song
beingquite seriousIthinkwe shouldleantowardsthe more
seriousroute.
100% of the people questionedselectedYouTube astheir
preferredplatformforwatchingmusic.Thisisprobably
because itisthe mostaccessible forthe audience,therefore
the video,whencomplete,shouldbe uploadedthroughthis
website.
