The author addressed their target audience of YouTube music fans aged 14-25 by writing in a tone suited to that age group as the author is also within that age range. Research confirmed the target audience should be ages 16-26, who like YouTube music and are not currently purchasing magazines. The magazine aims to appeal to both males and females by covering topics of interest to both genders found on YouTube. Features allow readers to participate and connect with artists. Interviews and cover images of popular artists are used to attract buyers and maintain interest across issues. The design features the colors black, white, and red which reference YouTube to further connect with the target audience.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

1. Question Five ~ How did you attract/address your audience?
My target audience was fans of YouTube music channels between the ages of 14 & 25. I
attracted them through my medium of writing as I am in that age group I could easily write in
the tone specifically aimed at them. 14 to 25 is the age most consumed by the social media
trend and that is why I aimed my publication at them.
From my magazine survey and analysis i confirmed that the majority of my readers will be
16-21 years old and the rest will most likely be 22-26. This showed me the that my initial
target audience of 14-25 is accurate and therefore I will write to intrigue this age range. I also
discovered that the majority of people in this age range do not currently purchase music
magazines and are interested in YouTube music. This creates a perfect target audience as
they like the genre of my magazine and are not currently purchasing a magazine, which
gives them the expendable money to buy mine.
I also aimed at males and females because social media especially YouTube is aimed at
both genders so I believe my publication should also be for both and my survey showed that
both would be interested in this type of publication. The available media to get in contact with
the magazine and the people featured in it, would appeal to the audience as it gives them a
chance to voice their opinion or get featured in an issue. This is appealing because it is on
social media, which is how the target audience would communicate.
Also the fan features would appeal to my audience because they get to be a part of the
publication and a part of the world they love. They watch their favourite YouTubers do
reviews and You 2 gives them the chance to review them. I have tried to keep the articles
and artists interesting, which I found in my audience research to appeal to prospective
buyers.
I am also attempting to have an interview, hopefully exclusive, in every issue as it will keep
interest and appeal to the reader. In my survey analysis I found the most common thing to
entice people to buy a magazine is an artist they like being on the front cover. From this I
decided to have different popular artists on the front of each issue as it will appeal to the
repeat customers and can entice in new customers.
The main cover image has a model smiling and staring straight into the camera. This would
connect to an audience as it looks like the model is looking at them and can help encourage
them to buy the magazine. The smiling helps persuade potential buyers that they will enjoy
reading this; it will also help build a rapport between the audience and model.
For the double page main image, I used a black and white image of the same model. This
shows her in a different light linking to the story. The article is about stripping the artist down
and finding about what made her the artist she is, the black and white gives the impression
of stipping down the image to the basics. These are pulling together the two portraying the
same thing to the audience, that they are getting the raw artist and no airs and graces are
being put on. The model’s lipstick is the only thing that is in colour attracting the audience's
attention to the lips of the model. This can connote the verbal aspect of the interview as it is
a slightly conversational aspect to the article. The fact it is red conotes confidence and love
to the audience as Kira is a confident person and role model and loves her fans as
reinforced with the last paragraph of the article.
The colour choice for You 2 is black, white and red. This would appeal to my target
audience, as they are the colours for YouTube, which also reflects the choice of content
covered inside the publication. I ensured that there were not many stereotypical gender
colours to ensure the magazine was equally appealing to both genders as my target
2. audience is both and I didn’t want it to be exclusive to one gender as a result of my chosen
colours.
