2. Front cover
For my front cover I used a yellow , orange and red
colour scheme, these colours are all summary and
vibrant giving off a lot of energy that a dance
magazine should have, I hoped this attracted in
customers. With the masthead and anchor text
being a contrasting colour dark green. All of these
colours are masculine which addresses my
audience. The layout of the front cover is really busy
and not very neat, this is more suited towards a
male audience who are generally not worried about
covers being neat and symmetrical. The image of
the artist is a slight action shot which is like he is
dancing, this goes with the genre of the magazine
and also is a bit childish like most young boys. Used
a sticker to promote a competition to lure in
customers. A big list of stars in the top right show
casing the big acts inside the magazine, trusting
that music fans will know the names and be
intrigued to pick the magazine up.
3. Contents page
I’ve kept with the same colour themes
throughout the magazine keeping the
magazine vibrant and high energy. Used a
pull quote from the biggest artist of the
magazine making the audience want to read
the interview. Two images of close shots of
the face, the top one to create a sense of
mystery over the artist which goes along
with the feature on it. The bottom photo of
the main artist not looking at the camera
either done to show a different side to him
out of the limelight perhaps more shy,
reader will want to see his real side in the
interview. Features give quick snaps into
what else is in the magazine intriguing the
reader.
4. Double page spread
For my double page spread I mad the layout a lot
more simple, this was because I wanted to make
it easier for the customer to read. I added a
touch of yellow to keep with the colour scheme.
Didn’t think another title was needed as the
name of the artist is big enough. Chose to do an
interview as customers can create a better
connection wit the audience , made the
interview very informal and friendly as aimed at
younger audience and will be more in there
comfort zone. Image is a long shot of whole body
wit direct mode of address getting the initial
bond with the reader. The artist and his fashion
also goes with my target audience this attracts
them in have more of an understanding to
someone similar to them.
