2. My target audience is teenagers and
young adults.
This question from my market
research clearly shows that 100% of
the participants I used, obtain their
music by downloading it from the
internet.
I have tried to use these results as an
attempt to attract my target
audience in my own media product. I
have done this by including a
voucher code for a download link to
a particular artist from my magazine.
I did it so it could possibly help
attract my target audience as they
clearly showed that the internet is
the main way that they obtain music.
3. Throughout most of my magazine, I
have used a sans serif font to try and
attract my target audience.
My target audience which is teenagers
and young adults, would be attracted by
sans serif fonts as they look very
modern and are easy to read.
A serif font wouldn’t be appropriate for
a target audience like mine, as they are
typically used for older audiences. They
are usually more old fashioned so I
don’t think that it would be appropriate
to use a serif font for my magazine,
especially for the front cover and
contents page.
Therefore, I chose a sans serif font as it
would be more appropriate for my
target audience.
4. I have used the Guttenberg design principle as
i have filled each of the four technical areas
with either text or an image.
In the strong fallow area I have coverlines
which show the reader what other artists are
featured in the magazine. In the primary
optical area I have the magazine title itself, a
long with the date and price of the magazine,
to make it stand out to the reader which is why
I put it in a prominent position. In the weak
fallow area I have part of the main masthead
along with a small coverline at the bottom of
the page, which tries to attract the reader as it
shows how good the magazine is. Finally in the
terminal area, there is the barcode and also
part of the masthead and coverline.
I have used this principle to attract my
audience as it fills the page up with
information and it also makes certain aspects
of the page stand out such as the masthead, in
order to attract readers.
5. This response from my focus group shows
that the overall design of my magazine is
similar to real life magazine.
The participants have all pointed out
particular features, for example the title,
which must all attract them towards the
page.
The responses also show I was successful
in making my media product similar to real
life ones.
Overall, this shows that my media product
has attracted my audience, as they all
thought the design of the page was good
and certain features of the magazine stood
out to them.
6. Using the example of the two images below I have tried to attract my target audience.
My target audience is young adults or teenagers, especially males. Males of this age
group are stereotypically aggressive or angry, which is something I have tried to portray
in my images. In the image on the left I have tried to make the model pose in an
aggressive way as he has an angry facial expression. I think the image on the right
shows this point well as he is seen smashing a guitar towards the camera with anger
which obviously helps show the theme of aggression. I have tried to implement this
theme into my magazine because males of this age group probably like something with
an ‘aggressive’ theme.
