The document describes the conventions used in designing a mock music magazine. It includes a masthead on the cover page with coverlines advertising the magazine's content. On the contents page, the masthead is smaller and page numbers are included. Featured articles have large page numbers on the side, while regular content has smaller numbers. Quotes from articles are used as page titles, and interviews are written out with a drop cap at the start. Photographs also include page numbers, and one main image spans two pages.

2. Here is an example of a
masthead, which is a
convention of music
magazines, showing how I
have followed conventions.
These are coverlines, used to
advertise the content inside
the magazine. I have
developed this by having a
subtitle underneath.
Here is the main coverline,
apart from the masthead it
contains the largest text on
the page.
Another convention of magazines is
to have a banner. I only made it
small so more could fit on the page.
I have included a puff to add more to
the magazine and fill up the page.
I have challenged convention by not
including a skyline, something that is usually
on a magazine.

3. The masthead is in the
corner of the page but
smaller this time as this is
the contents page. There
is also a page number
right in the corner of the
page.
Here is the title of the
page, “CONTENTS”. It is
bigger than the rest of the
text on the page.
Main image is bigger than the
rest of them, and relates to
the image on the front cover.
This challenges conventions of
actual magazines as they
aren’t usually the same.
Page numbers are really
big at the side of the
featured articles.
However in the regular
content section, they are
smaller as they aren’t as
important as the
featured articles.
Another convention of magazines is page
numbers on the photos, as shown here.

4. The title of the page is a quote
from the article, as is a
convention in most music
magazines.
For the article I
recorded a six
minute long
interview with
Matt and wrote it
out onto the page.
A drop cap has also
been used at the
start of the
interview.
The main image
takes up a
whole page and
some of the
second page,
which develops
on the usual
conventions of
a music
magazine.
Here is another page
number, however this time
in the bottom corner of
the page.
