Looking back at their preliminary task, the author feels they have greatly improved their editorial skills from their preliminary task to their final product. For the preliminary task, the author had little knowledge of Photoshop but learned basics from YouTube tutorials. However, the final product shows much more improvement due to researching codes and conventions of the magazine genre and watching more advanced Photoshop tutorials. Researching other magazines allowed the author to create a more professional looking magazine spread by applying industry standards. Tutorials also helped the author learn how to use Photoshop's features to make the final product look more polished.

- 1. Q7 LOOKING BACK AT YOUR PRELIMINARY TASK, WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE LEARNT IN THE PROGRESSION FROM IT TO THE FULL PRODUCT?

- 4. PROGRESSION Going back a couple of months when doing my preliminary task, I was just getting used to everything again including taking photos and editing on Photoshop. In my opinion I think my main improvement is editing and being able to become more used to Photoshop and what it can do. By watching tutorials, I was able to gain my knowledge in photoshop and experimenting with different tools in order to create what I wanted.
- 5. RESEARCH I did more research into my final production than my preliminary task, this enabled me to understand how important research is when reaching out to a target audience and other necessities when creating a magazine. The use of research allowed me to look into codes and conventions of other existing media which allowed me to generate my own ideas and create something similar which followed and challenged these aspects.
- 6. LAYOUT In terms of layout, I feel that I have improved drastically. As before in my preliminary task, my layout was limited and unorganised, however in my final production my layout turned out to look professional and organised with detailed information.
- 7. In conclusion, my final production looks more successful than my preliminary. With the help of learning different Photoshop techniques and camera skills I was able to produce a piece of work far more better than before. If I hadn’t of learnt new techniques my magazine would have not improved. My research into the codes and conventions massively impacted the outcome of my product and wouldn’t of been abled to fulfill my target audience needs and achieve a successful product.
