Looking back at their preliminary task for designing a college magazine, the student feels they have learned many new skills that allowed them to create a more polished final product. Specifically, the student gained proficiency in Photoshop which helped them design a more professional front cover and edit photos. They also became more comfortable using their blog to upload and share their work. The progression of skills acquired between the preliminary and final tasks helped the student produce a product that met higher professional standards.

2. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you
feel like you have learnt in the progression from it to
full the product?
Looking back at my preliminary task I feel like I have made a lot of progression in many different
areas of this project. Firstly I have learnt many new skills in PhotoShop. Looking back at the college
magazine I made I designed this in PhotoShop and didn’t really know any skills and so this contrasts
to my full product as I hardly knew anything about the programme PhotoShop at the beginning and
so could not make my preliminary task as professional as my final product looks. For example the
front cover of my final product I made the background more white however with my college
magazine I did not know the skills in which to do this and so left the background how it was and so
did not look as professional. I also feel like I have learnt a progression in being able to use my blog as
at first I did not know how to use my blog and upload them whereas now I feel a lot more
comfortable in doing this. I feel like the development in my progression during designing this product
has helped to make my product look more of a professional standards as I learnt how to edit the
pictures so they look more professional, develop my backgrounds so add gradients or brighten them
to help add more of an effect and also learnt how to take and construct better pictures from when
starting the preliminary task.
