I completed a radio trailer and a newspaper advertisement for my ancillary tasks.
I believe that both of my ancillary tasks suit the intended primary audience target
audience for my documentary, which is males and females of the ages 15 and 25.
RADIO TRAILER
The voiceover in my documentary and the voiceover in my radio trailer is the same. I
wanted to keep a flow to all my media products which I’m producing. Those who listen
to my radio trailer and then go on to watch my documentary will link the
advertisement with the documentary together and may prevent any confusion between
each, not only this, but gives the combination of my products a more professional feel
to it, as though it is well thought out.
Although the music in the trailer differs from song of the music used in the
documentary, the genre of music is similar. Especially with the trailer music of Intro by
The Xx and King of Leon Revelry and Spanish Sahara by Foals has the same mellow and
dramatic tones to it. I don’t think the change in specific song should effect the
combination between each as it gives the same tense and dramatic effects which is
what I wanted.
3. NEWSPAPER ADVERTISEMENT
The first clip of my documentary consists of someone scrolling through the Facebook live
feed. My advertisement is a blurred out Facebook live feed, this links as the initial shot of
my documentary may be recognisable to those who saw the newspaper add and recognised
the Facebook homepage.
I used the same fonts in both the advert and the documentary to give an overall
professional look, with no clashing fonts or colours. This was important when producing my
advertisement, I wanted all the colours to match the base of the advert, which is the live
feed. By carrying this on through to the documentary works well and proves that I have
thought carefully about the overall look of both the documentary and the advert and
enables the audience to link each media product together as they share similarities.
