1. HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE
COMBINATION OF YOUR MAIN
PRODUCT AND ANCILLARY
TEXTS?

2. How effective is the combination of
your main product and ancillary texts?
Within my main product and ancillary texts it was important to keep the
underlying theme known and obvious throughout the product. For example,
in my product the theme was the circus so the costumes used were the
main way to link it to this theme without the availability of an apparent circus
location. My products link to the genre because of the bright extravagant
colours that relate to the typical party vibe of pop genre videos. Within the
videos there is consistent synergy being used throughout, for example, the
costume in my main product linked to the colours and theme of my ancillary
pack, creating a clear link between the products.
This theme was relatively easy to replicate because there are so many
things that can be linked with the circus, such as abnormal flexibility which
is featured slightly in my video.
3. How the underlying theme is
portrayed in my main product.
In my main product the underlying
theme is clearly portrayed through my
costume choices and choice of actors
due their flexibility and dance skills.
For example, the main artist in my video
is wearing a typical circus ringleader tail
coat displaying she is in charge and
holds power during the video, the
dancers are wearing black leotards and
a red skirt, this colour is the most
traditional circus colour as it can be
related to the passion in a performer
and the danger in some of the acts
being shown.
4. How is the underlying theme
portrayed in my ancillary products.
In my ancillary product the theme is portrayed
through the use of a circus border and the
costumes used in my main product.
In my digipak, the typical red and yellow
dotted circus background is placed around
the edges to demonstrate a clear theme and
keep an established link with the overall
theme. When receiving feedback on my
digipak there were mixed opinions on the
border used, but the circus link was easily
made for everyone.
In my magazine advert the colour scheme
was identical to the digipak, it includes
yellows and reds without a heavy border, this
is easier on the eyes but still stands out and is
noticeably linking to the theme.
My magazine advert links to my other
products, this is a key thing needed
throughout my products because the
consistency allows me to build my brand and
giving the audience a recognisable factor so
that they will be able to recognise the album
and CD therefore increasing the chance of
sales of the product.
