Punishment In School Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of punishment in schools can prove to be a challenging
endeavor. The complexity arises from the need to navigate through various perspectives,
considering both the proponents and opponents of disciplinary measures within educational
institutions. One must delve into the historical context of school punishment, examining its
evolution and societal implications. Additionally, the essay should explore the psychological
impact of different punishment methods on students, shedding light on potential long-term
effects.
Furthermore, addressing the legal aspects surrounding school discipline adds another layer of
difficulty. The writer must familiarize themselves with relevant laws and policies governing the
use of punishment in educational settings, ensuring accuracy and coherence in the essay.
Balancing the need for maintaining order and fostering a positive learning environment while
respecting students' rights and well-being requires a nuanced approach.
Researching current trends in education and disciplinary practices, as well as considering cultural
differences, further complicates the task. The essay should be grounded in up-to-date
information, drawing on studies, surveys, and expert opinions to present a comprehensive and
well-informed perspective.
Crafting a well-structured and coherent argument that acknowledges the multifaceted nature of
the topic is essential. The writer must carefully organize their thoughts, ensuring a logical flow
from one point to another. In doing so, they should address potential counterarguments and
provide evidence to support their stance.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of punishment in schools demands a thorough
understanding of historical, psychological, legal, and sociocultural aspects. It necessitates the
ability to critically analyze information, synthesize diverse perspectives, and present a compelling
argument. Despite its challenges, a well-researched and thoughtfully written essay can contribute

Parenting Styles Between African American And Latin...
Thesis Statement: Coming from different backgrounds can be difficult. Being raised
based on religion , values , and morals play a huge role in your life. Everyone isn t
raised the same . There are many different parenting styles. Today, I will compare and
contrast two different parenting styles between African Americanand Latin American
families.
I.Four styles of parenting
A. Authoritative Parents
B . Authoritarian Parents C. Uninvolved Parents D. Permissive Parents
II. Religion
A. Africa American people religion vary . Some people practice Judaism , Buddhism
or Christian . The predominant religion is Christinanity
B.There are more than 425 million Catholics in the Latin American community .
Catholicism is practiced in 18 countries and one U.S. Territory.
III.Values
A.In the past, African American families suffered a lot when they were slaves in the
society. The people in the familywere separated because of the sale of family
members as slaves. However, they still maintained the bond with the family. The
slaves, who got their freedom, started working hard to save money to free their
family members from the clutches of slavery. The people who unfortunately lost their
blood relations made up with the fictive kin like cousins, uncles, aunts, nieces and
nephews. However, none of these were blood relations. This practice is taken from
ancient African traditions where non blood relatives were accorded status of family
members. It was considered to be an honor. In the
Symptoms And Treatment Of Infants
Some might wonder, well what exactly is skin to skin contact after birth? Skin to
skin contact is basically when the newborn is placed in their mother s arms or belly
and left there. Once left there the newborn usually finds its way to the breast to be
breast feed. Research has shown that newborns tend to be more alert within the first
two hours of life. When a healthy naked newborn is placed in skin to skin contact at
birth, it uses its senses to set a course and eventually will find and attach itself to the
breast. All healthy babies should be dried and placed naked on the mother s chest for
skin to skin contact immediately after birth, and held there in a peaceful environment
until the infanthas made contact with the breast. This... Show more content on

Also it allows the baby to be colonized by the same bacteria as the mother, which is
thought to be important in the prevention of allergic diseases. Having skin to skin
contact also helps the infant receive colostrums from its mother leading to a good
start of hormone balance, attachment, and local immune protection and feeding.
Skin to skin contact has a big benefit for breastfeeding. For example, infants who
receive contact with their mothers right after birth show early establishment of
effective breastfeeding and longer duration of breastfeeding. A Cochrane review of
eight studies showed that mothers who had skin to skin contact were twice as likely
to still be breastfeeding at one to three months as those who did not have contact. The
amount of contact between the mother and their baby during the first two hours can
influence the duration of breastfeeding. The study also showed that infants were
suckling at the breast at fifty minutes after birth. A newborns skin and hands has the
same scent as the mother s breast, which makes it easier for the infant to find the
breast. So it is recommended not to wash the mother s breast or the infant s hands
prior to the first feeding because it can interfere with the breastfeeding. Another study
conducted in a hospital found that mothers who breastfeed their infants kept their
babies with them for an average of a hundred minutes longer each day than mothers
who did not breast feed in the first hour, this lead to

Essay on Beals’ Reflection and Analysis
Beals Reflection and Analysis In the book Warriors Don t Cry, Melba Beals was a
heroine and a national symbol of hope for change. Beals and eight other students were
brave enough to attend Little Rock Central High School, the highly segregated school
in Arkansas in 1957. Despite the many objections from the segregationists and the
Governor Faubus, the nine students were able to complete the school year. During
the school year of 1957 1958, Melba and eight other African American students
received tremendous harassments from the Central High students, parents,
administrators, and segregationists. Beals mother almost lost her, because she
supported her daughter s decision to attend Central High. President Eisenhower had

For the estimate, the safety of these nine students did cost the federal government
more than a million. In addition, NAACP fought many legal suits in the courts with
the segregationists. Many civil right leaders criticized the Little Rock crisis
nationally. The segregation in public school did take away the quality, the
advantages, and the rights of education from all minor students. The Little Rock
crisis also became a war zone for nine African American students. Overall, the
segregation in U.S. did insult many world leaders during the 1950s. According to
Joel Spring in the Deculturalization and the Struggle for Equality, it was a big
mistake for the U.S. Supreme Court to declare the segregation of schools
constitutional. Under the segregation laws, many minor students struggled to receive
a good education. The southern state governments passed the laws around the federal
laws to restrict the educational rights of all minor students. When the U.S. Supreme
Court tried to end the segregation, the nation faced the resistance from the
segregationists. The segregation of school was not over until the Civil Rights Act of
1964. In addition, the courts ruled that the Brown vs. Board of Education decision
apply to all school in U.S. Like all minor students, Melba Beals was one of the
victims of segregation. When Beal attended Central High School, she was very angry
and disappointed with the Central High students.
Aortic Stenosis Research Paper
Aortic stenosis is the narrowing down of the opening of the aortic heart valve, this
is a common valvular disease in the modern world. The aortic stenosis is classified
into two types, congenital and acquired. In congenital aortic stenosis, it is often
observed that the malformation of a bicuspid valve instead of a natural tricuspid
valve. The leaflets are fused to create a bicuspid structure. While in acquired
stenosis, there is narrowing down of the valve opening due to calcification which
usually starts from the roots and extends to the end of the opening creating a
stiffened and narrowed opening as shown in Figure 7 [22]. This calcification process

Reflection Of A Discourse Community

community. But we I was around the age of fifteen I joined the basketball team, and
ever since then it became my discourse community. In this paper, I m going to
explain how the team was a discourse community to me. And what roles we did to
become a discourse community. Many people say basketballis all about winning
games. But its more than that, I ve learned many concepts in the game of basketball I

What is a discourse community? What do John Swales mean by a discourse
community? And what are the six steps in a discourse community? A discourse
community is a group of people that s trying to reach their goals, and everyone has
different functions. These public goals may be formally described as concepts that
play a part in a discourse community (Swales220). Discourse community have six

The Art Of Madame De Pompadour
Madame de Pompadour, mistress, confidante and advisor to King Louis XV of
France, and later, Lady in Waiting to his Queen, rose from the middle classes to
become a woman of influence in the French court of 1746 1764. Pompadour
embraced the grand lifestyle of the aristocracy including having her portrait painted
numerous times by many artists, utilizing her influence in how she was painted and
the messages those paintings portrayed (Jones). Her court painter, Francois Boucher
represented her as an idealized beauty (Jones) especially in his masterful oil painting
of 1756, Portrait of Madame de Pompadour, which showcased her opulent lifestyle,
beauty, and intelligence (Davies 766) and status in the French court. In this portrait,
Boucher sets Pompadour in an intimate scene, typical of Rococostyle art, dressed in
sumptuous silks, surrounded by books, flowers and elaborate draperies, at her ease,
gazing into the distance, caught in a moment of thought. Painted shortly after her
appointment as Lady in Waiting to the Queen, the painting is a celebration of
Pompadour s status in the French Court of King Louis XV.
The main subject of the painting is Madame de Pompadour, who sits half reclining,
engulfed by yards and yards of colorful fabrics, with gilded furnishings and flowers
galore, a celebratory painting of a femme savant (Goodman 1), at ease in her
surroundings. Books and papers fill the scene, proclaiming her intellectual prowess.
An educated woman, Pompadour is

In general, communication means of connecting people or places. In business, it is a
key function of management, which is an organization cannot operate without
communication between level, departments and employees (Business Dictionary,
2017). Also, communication is the act of conveying information for the purpose of
creating a shared understanding. It is something that humans do every day. The word
communication comes from Latin communis, meaning to share, and includes verbal,
non verbal and electronic means of human interaction (Communication Study, 2017).
Scholars who study communication analyze the development of communication
skills in humans and theorize about how communication can be made more effective.
(Communication Study, 2017). Humans convey information through a variety of
methods such as speaking, telephones, e mails, blogs, television, art, hand gestures,
facial expressions, body language and even social contexts (Communication Study,
2017). One of the most form of communication that is being used right now is
through text messaging and the cyber world. Communication can occur right away in
closed, intimate setting over great periods of time in astronomically immense public
forums. However, all forms of communication require the same fundamental
elements, a verbalizer or sender of information, a message, and an audience or
recipient. The sender and recipient must withal share a prevalent language or
designates of understanding each other for communication to be prosperous. A study
of communication often examines the development and structure of language
including the mathematical languages utilized in computer
Survivor s Guilt Research Paper
Soldiers often carry this burden home survivor guilt being perhaps the kind most
familiar to us. In war, standing here rather than there can save your life, but cost a
buddy his. It s flukish luck, but you feel responsible. The guilt begins an endless loop
of counterfactuals ‑ thoughts that you could have or should do otherwise, though
in fact you did nothing wrong, (War and The moral Logic, The New York
Times). Many people argue about whether survivor s guilt is necessary. Some
people think that survivors guilt is needed. Others bear that it isn t fair for the
people. Survivors of life and death situations should not undergo survivor s guilt.
One cause survivors shouldn t feel survivor s guilt is because survivor s guilt is
illogical.
Kingdom Of Heaven Essay
KINGDOM OF HEAVEN

The Kingdom of Heaven is an epic film directed and produced by Ridley Scott, and
written by William Monahan, filmed in Morocco. The story of the Kingdom of
Heaven is set during the Crusades of the 12th century, and is basically about the life
of Balian, a French blacksmith, who defends the Kingdom of Jerusalem against the
Muslims and reclaims the city from the Christians. In this story, I could travel back
in time to experience life during the era of the Crusades.
To better understand the Kingdom of Heaven, it is important to know what the
Crusades were. The Crusades were a series of religious wars between Christians and
Muslims which started primarily to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, these expeditions influenced great transformations in the medieval
world. They have weakened feudal aristocracy, strengthened royal power, and
made possible the expansion of the market. Eastern civilization contributed much
to European cultural enrichment, promoting intellectual development. Never
again was Jerusalem dominated by Christians, but the movements on the way to
the Holy Land expanded relationships with the known world at the time. The first
hour of Kingdom of Heaven is decisive for the rest of the film. It is in these
moments that we will meet Balian, a blacksmith who is devastated after he lost his
wife who had committed suicide. It is important to say that suicide was considered
to be an irredeemable sin, for example, the church believed suicide was a road to
hell. Balian has no prospects in life when he receives a visit from Baron Godfrey
of Ibelin. He introduces himself as Balian s father and invites him to become a
knight and defend Jerusalem, ruled by King Baldwin IV, who is a leper hidden
behind a mask of iron. Godfrey knows the difficult moment that Balian is going
through, so he introduces him to Jerusalem (presented in the film as the new world
where love exists instead of hate, a multi ethnic city, sacred to three religions,
strategic gateway to the East and to the West) as a journey of redemption in which
his son will redeem himself of his sins and he will save the soul of the suicidal wife.
After speaking this, Balian cannot

mills in Lowell, Massachusetts who makes cloth using powder looms. Mill

room is such a weakening job that Lyddie didn t even awaken to a cough that held
everyone else awake, but if she signs the petition she ll have more relaxed free time
and less work time. Also, in chapter 12, Lyddie is explaining her feelings on their
work. To be more clear Lyddie says, When I started in the spinning room, I could

spindles to tend. Now I ve twice that many at a speed that would make the devil

that the job is a very tiring job that only a signature might help making your life alot

Ambition And Ambition In Macbeth
Death, insanity, despair: these are the consequences of ambition gone awry.
Devastating downfalls can befall a heroic character if they are too ambitious.
Ambitious characters are common in literature, and the consequences of their
ambition are often the moral or lesson of their stories. Ambition can be a negative
thing and it can lead to negative events, and for that reason, it is the biggest character
flaw heroes have in Anglo Saxon literature.
If a character is ambitious, it means they have a strong desire for something, which
is often material objects, power, or recognition. When desire is immovable, it
quickly blocks out reason and becomes a problem or flaw. Not only is ambition a
personal flaw for literary heroes, but it also affects the characters around them. In
order to fulfill desires, a hero may eliminate any character that happens to get in
their way. This is likely to happen in the case of a character that desires power. A
common plot in literature is the story of a character who wants to become some type
of powerful figure, such as a king. This is the plot of Macbeth, where the main
character Macbeth is driven to murder his king, Duncan, in order to become King
of Scotland himself. I have no spur to prick the sides of my intent, but only vaulting
ambition, which o erleaps itself and falls on the other, (I, vii, 25 28) Macbeth
describes his own ambition as he contemplates killing Duncan. Ambition was a major
flaw for Macbeth. It is what causes him to
Drunk Driving Research
Drivers under the influence are everywhere. On the roads of course, but also as
close as in towns and neighborhoods. It seems like everyone knows someone,
caught or not, who has got in a car after having a few drinks or taking drugs. That s
because in the United States an estimated 300,000 people drive drunk each day
(Madd). In 2013, 28.7 million people admitted to driving after drinking alcohol.
What is the national and state governments doing to stop those drivers? For starters,
only around 3,200 drunk drivers a day are caught and arrested.Of those arrested 50
75% of them will continue to drive on a suspended license. It usually takes around
eighty instances for a regular drunk or high driver to be caught. One of the easiest

Federal Bail Reform Movement
The United States Pretrial Services is a Federal Judicial System. This system

court in making release and detention decisions. The Federal Bail Reform Act of
1966 was primarily focused in making this decision fairer and rational on the release
of defendants on the least and restrictive conditions that would assure the defendants
appearance at trial when required. The Bail Reform Act eliminates the courts
reliance on money as the sole purposed of pretrial release. The release and detention

Media Day At The Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers had an entire summer to dwell on their crushing loss to the

It s important for all of us to not overstate, but to overachieve.

The elephant in the room can t go unnoticed. The Cavs haven t won an NBA title

Have you ever read a book, then watched the movie on it and wanted to throw the
book at the director s face and tell them to actually read the book? This is what
happened when I read a novel titled Where The Rivers Flow North by Howard Frank
Mosher, and then watched the movie on it. In 1927, in Kingdom County, Vermont, a
large dam is to be built; however, Noel Lord, a logger and cedar oil harvester, won t
give up his lifetime lease on the land. The dam company increases its offer of cash,
but Noel refuses time after time. He asks for a trade; the white pines for his lease.

They retold the story of Noel Lord and wove it into the old stories of his ancestors
(Chapter 13, Pages 204 205). I m not satisfied because I believe that the retelling of
the stories and the showing of the panther was the perfect ending to a story like this.
These key differences could really impact ones thoughts on both the book and the
movie and the way one feels about how the director and producers of the movie
chose to portray the book. Noel s death scene, Bangor s death, the showing of the
panther and Noel becoming a legend and story to tell just like his ancestors were
three major differences between both the book and the movie. Overall, I am not at
all satisfied with the ending of the movie. Noel deserves to live on in the mind of
those who live in Kingdom County because he and his ancestors were a big part of
its development, yet it never mentioned anything about his story living on in the end
of the movie. The book was much better and had more detail. In my view, Noel is
ultimately the hero throughout the story and Bangor is the victim because she
loses the love of her life. He fights until the very end for his life and what he loves.
I believe that the director and producers of the movie should ve actually read the
book because there is no way they read the book with the horrible version they made
with the movie. Either that or they just wanted to get the movie over and done with.
The movie ending should ve been much more

allocating and evaluating various alternative courses of action and control of costs.
Cost accounting involves the techniques for:
Determining the costs of products, processes, projects, etc. in order to report the
correct amounts on the financial statements, and
Assisting management in making decisions and in the planning and control of an
organization.
While cost accounting is often used within a company to aid in decision making,
financial accounting is what the outside investor community typically sees. Financial
accounting is a different representation of costs and financial performance that
includes a company s assets and liabilities. Cost accounting can ... Show more content

It is a continuous effort to improve products, services, or processes, which require
incremental improvement over time in order to increase the quality and efficiency of
the process.
Lean management looks for different ways to eliminate factors that waste time, effort
or money. This is achieved by analyzing a business process and then revising it or
cropping out any steps that do not create value for consumers. Lean Management
philosophy is based on the idea that organizations should set their strategies according
to what the consumers really value, systematically eliminating waste both within the
firm and along the process of supply chain. Many companies when implementing the
Lean Management ideology complains that traditional Management Accounting
Systems are unable to support their projects. At best, they are perceived as
bureaucratic tasks, and at worst, they are considered a key constraint to both the
acceptance and success of lean projects implemented in their organizations. The
failure of these traditional Management Accounting tools and techniques has led to
management consultancies in coming up with and developing a few range of Lean

Atomic Bomb Effects
My three main topics are what dangerous things are made out of the Atomic Bomb
and my second interesting topic is the U.S. Americans dropped the Atomic Bomb on
the Nagasaki. And my third topic would be what were the long term effects that the
people suffered for the the explosive Atomic Bomb.
The first Atomic Bomb the U.S. Americans dropped was in war 11 they name for
the atomic bomb was called little boy the little boy atomic bomb was a gun type
weapon with a uranium core in the back of the bomb then close to the uranium core

the middle of the bomb is a Gun barrel which is a tube where the bullet travels when
the gun bullet fires and then at the very top of the atomic bomb inside is a cylinder

cylinder it also can identify the side length and diameters of the cylinder target and
adding the images that you want to detect. And then once the atomic bomb hits any

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease Analysis
GERD is the short abbreviation for gastroesophageal reflux disease. This condition
is the reflux if acid, pepsin, or bile salts from the stomach into the esophagus.
Esophagitis is the end result of GERD. As mentioned by AUTH (), there are
several risk factors that will increase a parsons chance of experiencing GERD.
Those who are older in age, obese, have a hiatal hernia, and certain drugs or

Realism In The Picture Of Dorian Gray
Wilde combines both the ornamental and the natural elements of the definition of
aestheticism here by describing both the Persian saddle bags and honey coloured
blossoms. The set description is so enamoring that one could almost miss Lord
Henry Wotton, instead engaging their imagination in the appreciation of the objects
around him. The descriptions are so elegantly articulated by Wilde that they can
only be imagined through their beauty alone; one would not imagine plain tables
and chairs while reading this, and the descriptions are certainly not modest as
George Eliot describes in her definition of realism. This also eliminates any need for
a collective spectacle; the objects simply are what they are. The entertaining
language that Wilde uses in his descriptions work in satisfying his argument for
aestheticism. Wilde also spends a lot of his time making the characters in The Picture
of Dorian Grayaesthetic focused. For Wilde, the only character who gives in to the
idea of realism is Basil Hallward by putting far too much of himself into his own
painting. Basil is the physical characterization of Wilde s criticism of artists in his
preface; he does not conceal the artist when creating Dorian s portrait. Basil even
claims that the real Dorian is the painting and not the living Dorian standing before
him, saying I shall stay with the real Dorian when prompted to attend the theatre with
Dorian and Henry Wotton (Wilde 28). Since the real Dorian is not to
Hamlet Oedipus Complex Essay
In the year eighteen ninety nine, psychologist Sigmund Freud introduced the
Oedipus complex in his book Interpretation of Dreams. Sigmund Freud is a
psychoanalytic psychologist who focused on sex and violence, reflected in his views
on the Oedipus complex, in which sons are in love with their mothers and are jealous
of their fathers. An Oedipus complexis when a son loves his mother in a
inappropriately sexual way. The term Oedipus complex comes from a Greek hero,
Oedipus, whose parents were told that their son was going to kill his father and
marry his mother. To circumvent the ordeal, his parents send him away. Even
though Oedipus was sent away he could not escape his destiny. Many scholars
perceive that the Oedipus complex is present in one of Shakespeare s work, Hamlet,
the main character, Hamlet, is obsessed with his mother s sexuality. . At one point in
the play, Hamlet and Gertrude talk for a long time in her private closet about her and
his uncle s relationship. Hamlet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

when Gertrude married Claudius is when Hamlet realized the degree of his complex.
He is jealous of his uncle now that he is married to his mother. When Hamlet does

Knowledge management is the process of capturing, distributing and effectively
using knowledge . More specifically, Duhon (1998) defined KM as a discipline that
promotes an integrated approach to identifying, capturing, evaluating, retrieving, and
sharing all of an enterprise s information assets. These assets may include databases,
documents, policies, procedures, and previously un captured expertise and experience
in individual workers.
In general, knowledge management is understood as the process of managing

Essay about The Horror that Are Child Soldiers
All around the world, especially in third world countries, children are being forced
to fight in wars and conflicts that they did not start, and they do not need to fight in.
Today, it is estimated that over 300,000 children are enlisted in armies and militias
around the world (Kaplan). These children are called child soldiers. A child soldieris
classified as a person enlisted in an army or militia that is under the age of
eighteen. (11 Facts). They are recruited into armies for many different reasons and
used for many different tasks. There are a number of countries that children are
forced to fight in such as Columbia, Myanmar, Iraq, and many more (11 Facts

Children taken into these armies are forced to watch despicable things happen to
people they know or do not know, but they know that they are human and most
likely innocent (Stolen Kids). For example, an eleven year old boy in Myanmar
was forced to watch as mothers were killed. Afterwards, some of the soldiers
smashed their babies heads on rocks and killed them (Stolen Kids). Not only are
children forced to watch these terrible things happen, they are forced to commit
wretched crimes as well. A twelve year old Columbian girl was held at gunpoint
and told to kill one of her friends. She eventually did, but closed her eyes and she
had to bury the body afterwards (Stolen Kids). She was told that she was not
allowed to cry while doing this as well as that this murder was the first of many,
and that not crying is crucial (Stolen Kids). This is one of many crimes that
children are forced to commit while in service to armies and militias. The things that
child soldiers are forced to do lead to a lot of psychological trauma. When an
organization called War Child interviewed children they had rescued, up to 90%
admitted that they needed psychological help and support to cope with what they had
seen and done. A study has shown that children who are rescued often have
nightmares, sadness, recurring violent images, and intrusive thoughts. The children

Purpose Of The Juvenile Justice System
The way in which juvenile delinquents are dealt with by the courts varies
depending on the country. For example, the age of criminal responsibility is
different depending on the country. Most people think when you reach the age of
18 you are no longer a minor and can be charged as an adult; however, in Japan you
can be charged as a minor until the age of 20. In Germany, they consider a person
who is 21 or above a legal adult. On the other hand, at the age of 17 in Australia you
are charged as an adult. They way they treat juveniles in prisonalso differs. The
punishments they receive, the programs they have, and the privileges they offer are
all different. So why does the U.S have the highest rate of juvenile crime?

These laws from each respective country seem to have the best outcome for the
juvenile s future. The U.S has some good ideas with helping juveniles, but the U.S
could also make some drastic positive impacts in the lives of these minors by
focusing more on rehabilitation and less on incarceration. One example is the fact
that the U.S sentences minors to life in prison; taking away the possibility of
returning to their families or becoming a contributing member of society. By adopting
some of these laws of other countries the U.S could cut down on costs of housing so
many inmates and, like Japan, keep them at minimum security detention centers. This
would also allow the possibility for juveniles to better their lives and in turn counsel
other youth that are at risk of getting in trouble with the law, decreasing the rate of
juvenile crime; benefitting the system as a
Magellan Spacecraft, By Justinas Lialys

By Justinas Lialys
Abstract The main Magellan spacecraft?s mission objective was to map 70 % of the
surface of Venus. The mission succeeded in mapping 98% of the Venus surface. This
paper analyzes the resolution and timing aspects of the synthetic aperture radar
(SAR) and radiometer modes of the Magellan spacecraft. Also, the transmission
method of data from Earth to the spacecraft and vice versa is discussed. The
incidence angle effects on the cross track resolution and signal to noise ratio are
analyzed. The simple models of the cross track resolution versus the incidence angle
of the SAR and radiometer modes are derived. The function of the Venus surface
emissivity is presented. Next, the resolution element size (pixel size) is modeled as
the function of the spacecraft height.
Overview of the mission
The Magellan spacecraft (Venus RadarMapper) was launched by NASA on the 4th
of May, 1989. The main goal of its mission was to map the surface of Venus by
employing the synthetic aperture radar method. The first stage of the mission
began on the 15th of September, 1990. The objective was to map 70% of the Venus
surface through a left looking method. This stage ended on the 15th of May, 1991.
The Magellan spacecraft mapped 83.7% of the Venus surface. Right after the end of
the first stage, the spacecraft was reoriented by 180 degrees such that a right looking
method could be invoked. By the 14th of January, 1992, the
Analysis Of The Fantastic Mr. Fox By Wes Anderson
The Fantastic Mr. Fox by Wes Anderson is an adventure animated crime film that
makes its audience to become charmed for its incredible animation of stop motion.
In this film Anderson plays and explores with the main character named Mr. Fox

world of its own.
For example, the art work style of the film, precisely speaking of the color, in most
film audiences are display a film in which they are to see color variations mimicking
that of the real world, but in Andersons animated film it differs. It does not mimic
that of the real world but the world of the characters itself. For instance, in the movies

The Role Of Business In The Godfather
The Godfather by Francis Ford Coppola introduces the lifestyle of an Italian
American mobster family in New York. This film shows an authentic perspective of
mobs in the 40 s and 50 s. We see that family business is very important in this film.
But Michael Corleone put it best, It s not personal, it s strictly business. This
relationship between the Corleone Familyand business is what shows up multiple
times throughout the movie. In the movie we see a difference between Vito and his
son Michael Corleone. Vito is the norm for what a superior leader should be. He is
caring for his family and also very strong when it comes to business. He is also a man
of his word. On the flip side if you cross him, he will take matters into his own hands.

Academic Institutions and Education
Academic institutions are posed with the responsibilities of ensuring that all its
students gain meaningful education. Education, takes place in many forms and one
of these ways is through extra curricula activities and/or involvement. Co curricular
learning can be highlighted in participation in student groups including student
government, departmental groups, interest groups, honor and recognition societies as
well as pan hellenic organizations sororities, fraternities.
The Adviser
Often times, participating in groups can develop a number of professional skills
which can transcend college. Student groups are also a great way to foster
interpersonal relationships and to be involved in the academic atmosphere. But the
groups do not run on their own. In fact, they are normally headed by a governing
body including an adviser. Advisers are faculty or staff of the institution who have
agreed to dedicate time and effort in carrying out or in ensuring that the mission and
goals of the group are carried out successfully.
With some colleges housing more than 100 groups or student organizations, there is a
great need for student group advisers. The University of California Los Angeles alone
has 800 registered groups. The structure of the institution would determine the goals
of the adviser. For instance, a more culturally diverse population would call for an
adviser attuned to the needs of the institution and the students as well as be able to
forecast additional actions that may

Also, Oliver North was ordered to teach the Contras military tactics and raised
money for them. As Reagan and his private officials went about on doing this
secretly, publicity had a way to find what was going on. Congress was lied to as a
cover up by Reagan so they would not intervene. After his reelection, Reagan
supported another covert program: an attempt to release hostages in Lebanon. This
would soon turn into the Iran Contra Affair. In 1984 a Shiite Islamic group that was
loyal to Iran s Ayatollah Khomeini had captured and held seven Americans hostage
in Lebanon. The President was very much concerned for the Americans well being.
An Israeli foreign minister, David Kimche, insisted that since Iran and Iraq were at
war with each other, Iran would need more weapons, and because Israel would also
gain monetary benefits, they could help with persuasion to release the officials. All
the U.S. needed to do was to approve a small shipment of armaments to Iran. Reagan
then agreed to this deal, to sell arms to Iran through Israel, which would induce the
kidnappers in releasing the hostages. Even though Reagan stated before that America
will never make concessions to terrorists, the transferring of arms violated that
statement and the Arms Export Control Act since congress was not informed and
didn t give consent. The secret request, hidden from congress would not only help
free the hostages, but also

Cause And Effect On Climate Change
Climate change can affect plants and animals that live in a delicate environment.
Climate change affects populations of plants and animals in random ways. These
changes in plant and animal habitat could affect migration patterns (Cohn 2). Plants
will be more affected by a change in scenery more than animals because plants
depend on the right temperature and rainfall in order to stay alive. Another reason
that plants will be affected more is that plants stay in one place and animals can
move if the habitat is hazardous to their health (Cohn 2). Comparing the present and
expected future range of the speciesis one way to examine the consequences of
climate change. Margaret Davis is an American palynologist and paleoecologist
who received a B.A from Radcliffe College, Ph.D. in biology from Harvard
University and an honorary M.S from Yale University. She served as president of
the Ecological Society of America and the American Quaternary Association and as
chair of the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Behavior at the University of
Minnesota. She was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1982. Davis
used computer models to estimate a change in range of beech, yellow birch, hemlock,
and sugar mapletrees (Cohn 2). The results that Davis found are that the four species
of trees would have to move 500 kilometers to sustain the same habitat to remain in
order to stay healthy. The beech forests which thrive in southeastern United States
would cease to exist (Cohn
Universal Basic Income Advantages And Disadvantages
Universal Basic Income (UBI) is a fixed amount at a level sufficient for
subsistence, given by the state to all its citizens regardless of income or work
status. Recently, it has sparked a heated debate among many cities around the world
on whether to give their citizens a Universal Basic Income. Though some people
disagree on the idea that a country should give a UBI to its citizens, the policy of
giving a UBI to citizens has many advantages which have been shown by the benefits
of a UBI implement in Finland. A UBI can help to give the following benefits of a
country: a continuous GDP increase, a more harmonious community, and scientific
advancement. First of all, adopting a UBI can increase economic development by
stimulating consumption. A UBI gives money to citizens without concerns about
their status. It ll lead to an increased incomefor the poor so that they will buy more
high quality food, select more expensive clothes, and even have a new car per
person. Those things are impossible before the implementation of UBI. As for
others, they ll have more money to spend on their hobbies and vacations which will
subsequently encourage them consume more. For example, If I receive UBI now, I
will save my extra money given by government for several months and plan to use it
go to Hawaii on a vacation. I ll buy round trip airlinetickets to Hawaii, eat special
food, book a hotel, and buy some souvenirs from Hawaii. The airline company will

How will a firm s pricing strategy depend on the structure of the market?
A pricing strategy is important to any firm in realising its corporate objectives,
whether that be its sales revenue, market share or indeed profit, and thus there is
much preoccupation within a business about its pricing strategy. Ultimately, this will
be guided by many factors; not least the market power it has to set the price of its
products and the nature of the demand curve it faces. This essay will attempt to
outline how a firm s pricing strategy is influenced by the characteristics of the market
in which it operates, looking at various market structures, including perfect
competition, monopoly and oligopoly.

In addition to this, the markets themselves to be distinct from each other so as to
prevent consumers from the lower priced market reselling the product in the high

would not otherwise use it.

Alternatively, maybe a firm operates in a market where it has a large share but
competes against small producers possessing a small market share. In effect, the
dominant firm has to split the market demand with these small firms, each producing
an identical product to the dominant firm and act as perfect competitors, taking the

Elvis Presley, By Jerry Leiber And Mike Stoller
Elvis Presley was born on January 8, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi, though his twin
brother sadly did not make it. Presley came from very a humble background with
working class parents, though his family had little money they moved around a
lot. But they had very strong faith. Elvis went with his parents to church where he
heard gospel music spiking his interest in music. At the age of eleven he received
his first guitar as a birthday present form his mother. He also won his high school
talent show then soon after his graduation he begin to work in the music industry.
He soon created his fist record, the record label owner Sam Phillips took Presley
under his wing and in 1954 he got his big break and released his first single. Sadly,
Presley passed on August 16th 1977 at the age of 42. His death was caused by

Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller that first became a hit for Elvis Presley. When the

but changes to an allegro tempo as the song progresses. The guitar pattern seems to
be dividing the beats into equal parts. I also believe that he adds a rhythmic feel to
the song by highlighting and slightly lengthening the first note of each pair which

Similarities Between Wilfred Owen And Siegfried Sassoon
The poet Siegfried Sassoon saw that war was destructive and it should not happen
because it was a waste of human life, Sassoon described the horror of war
unsparingly, also, his poems were often based on actual incidents. Wilfred Owen
focused his poetry on the particulars of war and the men involved: dirt, muddle,
boredom etc, Owen often wrote about the horror of war and the dignity of men. He
deeply felt a sense of the appalling wastefulness of war, casualties and the human
spirit. The similarities between these two poets are they both tried to record realistic
horrors of the war; to have it stopped. They were both angry at the war s brutality,
they were also showed very compassionate studies of the circumstances of fighting
men.
The connection I made between these 2 texts is that they both experienced death,
these texts are Memorial Tablet by Siegfried Sassoon and Dulce et Decorum Est by
Wilfred Owen. In the poem Memorial tablet, Siegfried Sassoon wrote about a man
being forced to fight in the war, the man fought for two bleeding years , but this
man was shot My wound was slight, I was hobbling back; and then a shell Burst
slick upon the duckboards: so I fell Into the bottomless mud, and lost the light. . In
Dulce et Decorum Est Wilfred Owen watched a man choke to death by gas, Wilfred
Owen screamed Gas! Gas! Quick, boys! But he could hear someone screaming But

  • 4. Symptoms And Treatment Of Infants Some might wonder, well what exactly is skin to skin contact after birth? Skin to skin contact is basically when the newborn is placed in their mother s arms or belly and left there. Once left there the newborn usually finds its way to the breast to be breast feed. Research has shown that newborns tend to be more alert within the first two hours of life. When a healthy naked newborn is placed in skin to skin contact at birth, it uses its senses to set a course and eventually will find and attach itself to the breast. Having skin to skin contact also helps the infant receive colostrums from its mother leading to a good start of hormone balance, attachment, and local immune protection and feeding. Skin to skin contact has a big benefit for breastfeeding. For example, infants who receive contact with their mothers right after birth show early establishment of effective breastfeeding and longer duration of breastfeeding. A Cochrane review of eight studies showed that mothers who had skin to skin contact were twice as likely to still be breastfeeding at one to three months as those who did not have contact. The amount of contact between the mother and their baby during the first two hours can influence the duration of breastfeeding. The study also showed that infants were suckling at the breast at fifty minutes after birth. A newborns skin and hands has the same scent as the mother s breast, which makes it easier for the infant to find the breast. So it is recommended not to wash the mother s breast or the infant s hands prior to the first feeding because it can interfere with the breastfeeding. Another study conducted in a hospital found that mothers who breastfeed their infants kept their babies with them for an average of a hundred minutes longer each day than mothers who did not breast feed in the first hour, this lead to

The Little Rock crisis also became a war zone for nine African American students. Overall, the segregation in U.S. did insult many world leaders during the 1950s. According to Joel Spring in the Deculturalization and the Struggle for Equality, it was a big mistake for the U.S. Supreme Court to declare the segregation of schools constitutional. Under the segregation laws, many minor students struggled to receive a good education. The southern state governments passed the laws around the federal laws to restrict the educational rights of all minor students. When the U.S. Supreme Court tried to end the segregation, the nation faced the resistance from the segregationists. The segregation of school was not over until the Civil Rights Act of 1964. In addition, the courts ruled that the Brown vs. Board of Education decision apply to all school in U.S. Like all minor students, Melba Beals was one of the victims of segregation. Pompadour embraced the grand lifestyle of the aristocracy including having her portrait painted numerous times by many artists, utilizing her influence in how she was painted and the messages those paintings portrayed (Jones). Her court painter, Francois Boucher represented her as an idealized beauty (Jones) especially in his masterful oil painting of 1756, Portrait of Madame de Pompadour, which showcased her opulent lifestyle, beauty, and intelligence (Davies 766) and status in the French court. In this portrait, Boucher sets Pompadour in an intimate scene, typical of Rococostyle art, dressed in sumptuous silks, surrounded by books, flowers and elaborate draperies, at her ease, gazing into the distance, caught in a moment of thought. Painted shortly after her appointment as Lady in Waiting to the Queen, the painting is a celebration of Pompadour s status in the French Court of King Louis XV. The main subject of the painting is Madame de Pompadour, who sits half reclining, engulfed by yards and yards of colorful fabrics, with gilded furnishings and flowers galore, a celebratory painting of a femme savant (Goodman 1), at ease in her surroundings. Books and papers fill the scene, proclaiming her intellectual prowess. An educated woman, Pompadour is

The first hour of Kingdom of Heaven is decisive for the rest of the film. It is in these moments that we will meet Balian, a blacksmith who is devastated after he lost his wife who had committed suicide. It is important to say that suicide was considered to be an irredeemable sin, for example, the church believed suicide was a road to hell. Balian has no prospects in life when he receives a visit from Baron Godfrey of Ibelin. He introduces himself as Balian s father and invites him to become a knight and defend Jerusalem, ruled by King Baldwin IV, who is a leper hidden behind a mask of iron. Godfrey knows the difficult moment that Balian is going through, so he introduces him to Jerusalem (presented in the film as the new world where love exists instead of hate, a multi ethnic city, sacred to three religions, strategic gateway to the East and to the West) as a journey of redemption in which his son will redeem himself of his sins and he will save the soul of the suicidal wife. • 14. Ambition And Ambition In Macbeth Death, insanity, despair: these are the consequences of ambition gone awry. Devastating downfalls can befall a heroic character if they are too ambitious. Ambitious characters are common in literature, and the consequences of their ambition are often the moral or lesson of their stories. Ambition can be a negative thing and it can lead to negative events, and for that reason, it is the biggest character flaw heroes have in Anglo Saxon literature. If a character is ambitious, it means they have a strong desire for something, which is often material objects, power, or recognition. When desire is immovable, it quickly blocks out reason and becomes a problem or flaw. Not only is ambition a personal flaw for literary heroes, but it also affects the characters around them. In order to fulfill desires, a hero may eliminate any character that happens to get in their way. This is likely to happen in the case of a character that desires power. A common plot in literature is the story of a character who wants to become some type of powerful figure, such as a king. This is the plot of Macbeth, where the main character Macbeth is driven to murder his king, Duncan, in order to become King of Scotland himself. Realism In The Picture Of Dorian Gray Wilde combines both the ornamental and the natural elements of the definition of aestheticism here by describing both the Persian saddle bags and honey coloured blossoms. The set description is so enamoring that one could almost miss Lord Henry Wotton, instead engaging their imagination in the appreciation of the objects around him. The descriptions are so elegantly articulated by Wilde that they can only be imagined through their beauty alone; one would not imagine plain tables and chairs while reading this, and the descriptions are certainly not modest as George Eliot describes in her definition of realism. This also eliminates any need for a collective spectacle; the objects simply are what they are. The entertaining language that Wilde uses in his descriptions work in satisfying his argument for aestheticism. Wilde also spends a lot of his time making the characters in The Picture of Dorian Grayaesthetic focused. For Wilde, the only character who gives in to the idea of realism is Basil Hallward by putting far too much of himself into his own painting. Basil is the physical characterization of Wilde s criticism of artists in his preface; he does not conceal the artist when creating Dorian s portrait. Basil even claims that the real Dorian is the painting and not the living Dorian standing before him, saying I shall stay with the real Dorian when prompted to attend the theatre with Dorian and Henry Wotton (Wilde 28). This paper analyzes the resolution and timing aspects of the synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and radiometer modes of the Magellan spacecraft. Also, the transmission method of data from Earth to the spacecraft and vice versa is discussed. The incidence angle effects on the cross track resolution and signal to noise ratio are analyzed. The simple models of the cross track resolution versus the incidence angle of the SAR and radiometer modes are derived. The function of the Venus surface emissivity is presented. Also, Oliver North was ordered to teach the Contras military tactics and raised money for them. As Reagan and his private officials went about on doing this secretly, publicity had a way to find what was going on. Congress was lied to as a cover up by Reagan so they would not intervene. After his reelection, Reagan supported another covert program: an attempt to release hostages in Lebanon. This would soon turn into the Iran Contra Affair. In 1984 a Shiite Islamic group that was loyal to Iran s Ayatollah Khomeini had captured and held seven Americans hostage in Lebanon. The President was very much concerned for the Americans well being. An Israeli foreign minister, David Kimche, insisted that since Iran and Iraq were at war with each other, Iran would need more weapons, and because Israel would also gain monetary benefits, they could help with persuasion to release the officials. All the U.S. needed to do was to approve a small shipment of armaments to Iran. Reagan then agreed to this deal, to sell arms to Iran through Israel, which would induce the kidnappers in releasing the hostages. Even though Reagan stated before that America will never make concessions to terrorists, the transferring of arms violated that statement and the Arms Export Control Act since congress was not informed and didn t give consent. Plants will be more affected by a change in scenery more than animals because plants depend on the right temperature and rainfall in order to stay alive. Another reason that plants will be affected more is that plants stay in one place and animals can move if the habitat is hazardous to their health (Cohn 2). The results that Davis found are that the four species of trees would have to move 500 kilometers to sustain the same habitat to remain in order to stay healthy. The beech forests which thrive in southeastern United States would cease to exist (Cohn

Wilfred Owen focused his poetry on the particulars of war and the men involved: dirt, muddle, boredom etc, Owen often wrote about the horror of war and the dignity of men. In Dulce et Decorum Est Wilfred Owen watched a man choke to death by gas, Wilfred Owen screamed Gas! Gas! Quick, boys!
