Mainstreaming Special Needs
Mainstreaming special needs
The soaring cost of special education for disabled students has been appropriately integrated into
public schools for the common good of all students from various social classes. Special education has
had a deep histroy that has been characterized by a score of legislations that has set this form of
education and how it is administered to assimilate students with learning disabilities into standard
classrooms. In both the United Kingdom and the United States, the first account of special education
recognizes the deaf and blind students. In England the first school to cater for special education was
the Liverpool Blind School in the year 1791. In the United States, the first ever special education
school was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In spite of these legislations, the law was not acted upon or rather implemented immediately. Still, it
took time for compulsory education for all to be actualized (Kesha 120). The next stage in the
development of special education was segregatioin that sought to iinvolve student with disabilities in
the same learning instutions as all other students, but in in isolate classrooms. However, this changed
upon the enactment of the all handicapped Children Act of 1975, which introduced mainstreaming.
This had a postive implication in that handicapped chidren were included and encouregaed to
particpate in regualr classrooms hence the period of integration dawned. This was a remarkable
achievement and the Act pertaining to education for the handicapped was amended to include six new
critical elements in fostering special education. These elements were: parental participation in the
special education process, legititmate process to enforece accountability, Individualized Education
Programs (IEPs) to formulate a custom program for each student, Least Restrictive Environment
(LRE) that allowed the disabled children in regular classrooms as much as possible, A program to find
and assess disabled children in a fair manner, free and approprioate public education (FAPE) for all
children. In the 20th century the law regarding special education (IDEA) Individuals with Disabilities

Separation Anxiety Disorders
There are several treatment options for separation anxiety disorder in children. The golden standard
treatment of separation anxiety and other anxiety disorders is cognitive behavioral therapy, also
known as CBT (Ehrenreich, Santucci, Weiner, 2008). There are a couple of goals for this approach
that involve both the child and parent (James, James, Cowdrey, Soler, Choke, 2015). These
researchers state that one of the goals is for the child to be able to recognize their own anxious feelings
and their physiological responses when they experience anxiety. Another goal is for the child to have
an ability to identify and control their thoughts during experiences that are anxiety provoking for
them. Therapists want children with separation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, referrals can be made by the therapist for different mental health services, since individuals who
end their CBT treatment often worry that they ll have the same symptoms. These services will be
helpful for children and adolescents with separation anxiety disorder, since there are high risks of
suicide within this population (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
There are different procedures for CBT that can help children with separation anxiety disorder. A
procedure within this therapeutic approach that is proven to work for children and adolescents with
separation and other anxiety disorders is systematic desensitization, which is an intervention that
decreases anxiety and fears within an individual (Friedberg McClure, 2015). The process usually
entails experiencing something that is anxiety provoking to a client and pairing it with a calming
technique such as relaxation. For this intervention to be successful, hierarchies of anxiety for the client
must be established so that they are being met and all aspects of anxiety must be understood by the
therapist. A cognitive treatment in CBT is imagery, which is a form of relaxation that is used for
decreasing stress and providing relief to the individual (Cully Teten, 2008). This intervention focused
on the individual to gain back physical, emotional, and cognitive control of their thoughts, and is
really affective for forms of anxiety.

A Comparison Of Five Reactive Approaches
The article How teachers address cases of bullying in schools: a comparison of five reactive
approaches, describes a study done to show the various ways that bullying is handled in countries
throughout the world. The five approaches used to handle bullying are Methods of Intervention,
Restorative Practice, Mediation, Support Group Method, and Method of Shared Concern. The article
describes each approach and evaluates the pros and cons of each method. The article also shares data
on how well each approach has worked in various countries around the world.
The Method of Intervention uses direct sanctions to punish the bully/bullies. In this particular method,
the bully or bullies receive a punishment that is decided by the school administration. ... Show more

The bullies are asked to sit in with the counselor or teacher one to one. The counselor/teacher
discusses the victim and the distress that the bullying has caused them. The bullies are asked how they
can help to improve the situation. Once the counselor has met with all of the bullies and have
established that they need to be helping the victim and improving the situation, then they are asked to
meet together as a group. They discuss their suggestions as a group and develop a plan to resolve the
problem. Finally, the group meets again, this time with the victim present. The plan is explained to the
victim and ultimately a common goal is agreed upon. The Method of Shared Concern has been judged
because it is time consuming; however, it has had a great amount of success. This particular method is

Essay on Something about Flann O Brien
Flann O Brien s At Swim Two Birds is a multifarious work of purpose, at once an experimental
narrative that directly responds to James Joyce s modernist work (acting as a forerunner of post
modernist thought), and a study on the tortuous challenges facing the dichotomies of Irish culture. At
Swim is at its most understated, a text of parodies. O Brien expertly strings together the many layers
of his novel s world to express a slew of critical observations about modernist ideology and realism, as
well as exposing a necessary dialogue on the formation and perception of Irish culture.
A third major aspect of At Swim Two Birds lies closer to O Brien s own life experience: this is a novel
of Irish identity. The Irish identity that O Brien ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
O Brien investigates the clash of ideologies carefully, having found himself in a unique position which
assisted in the observation of both sides. It is significant, McKullen writes, that Flann O Brien who
was born into that first, critical and cosmopolitan, post independence generation was also
paradoxically more familiar with Irish traditions than many of the Revivalists who embraced them or
the Modernists that rejected them (McKullen, 76). O Brien, born Brian O Nuallain, was the son of
ardent Irish nationalists; he spoke the Irish language at home, vacationed in the Gaeltacht (that is, the
fringe of Western Ireland where Irish is predominantly spoken), and studied old and middle Irish in
college. As for his own feelings on the subject, while At Swim Two Birds includes a myriad of old
Irish folktale and mythology, it also points to a dissatisfaction with the Cultural Protectionism that was
prevalent all around him. According to Dr. Joseph Brooker who writes on the subject, in his own way,
[O Brien] was one of the period s most penetrating critics of Irish pride (Brooker, 31). Viewing the
over determination of Cultural Protectionism, O Brien could see the silliness of glorifying what must
have essentially become caricatures of the Irish heritage. Irish scholar Eihblin Evans adds that, for O
Brien, Irish identity had been hijacked by a set of official cliches with disastrous effects (Evans, 104).

Cannibalism Essay examples
There are so many bad things in the world but according to many, cannibalism is considered just about
the worst. Depending on your point of view, it rises above even such criminal abominations as, rape
and genocide. Then again, we live in a culture, in which people would run vomiting to the bathroom if
they saw what went into making their McDonald s hamburgers.
Cannibalism, also known as anthropophagi, is defined as the act or practice of eating members of the
same species. The word anthropophagi comes from the Arawakan language name for the Carib
Indians of the West Indies. The Caribs are well known for their practice of cannibalism. Among
humans, this practice has been attributed to people in the past all over the world, including ... Show

Among humans, cannibalism has been widespread in prehistoric societies on all continents. It is still
believed to be practiced in remote areas of the island of New Guinea. It existed until recently in parts
of West and Central Africa, Sumatra, Melanesia, and Polynesia. It also existed among various Indian
tribes of North and South America and among aborigines of Australia and the Maoris of New Zealand.
The reasons for cannibalism have varied. Sometimes there was simply limited food. Some groups
liked the taste of human flesh. However, mostly the reasons had to do with revenge or punishment for
crimes, ceremony and ritual, or magic. Some victorious tribes ate their dead enemies to absorb their
strength. In come rituals, the deceased were eaten by relatives, as a manner of reverence or honor for
their ancestors, or as a desire for the soul of the dead to be reborn in the body of the consumer. This is
called endocannablism.
Civilized people have to resort to cannibalism from time to time, as a mean of survival, under
desperate circumstances. The story of the Donner Party is one of the more tragic incidents in
American frontier history. A group of about 90 immigrants led by George Donner was caught in a
blinding snowstorm in the Sierra Nevada range of California in October 1846. Survivors, who made
their way out early in 1847,

Fibromyalgia
What Is Fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia (FM) is a musculoskeletal disorder with extreme sensitization of central nervous system
(connecting brain and spinal cord) which sends amplified pain signals to the body. People with
Fibromyalgia have over sensitized central nervous system affecting all the senses of the body. Harsh
light, loud sounds, eating spicy foods, inhaling heavy perfumes or vapors, or even a light touch of
hand can be extremely painful. The pain is at its highest or severe upon waking in morning and
gradually reduces as the day progresses.
People with Fibromyalgia not only feel pain for something that will not hurt others, but also feel
amplified pain. A knock on the knee, which wouldn t leave a bruise or scratch, can cause ... Show

Even though FM and CFS have some similarities, the main factor in FM is pain and in CFS is fatigue.
What Causes Fibromyalgia?:
It is difficult to pinpoint a single cause for fibromyalgia. In fact, fibromyalgia problem may be due to
multiple causes, and research is going on to find out the underlying causes of FM syndrome. However,
it is widely believed by medical community that FM syndrome may be a genetic or hereditary related
issue. Persons who are genetically vulnerable or genetically predisposed towards FM have a greater
chance of showing FM syndrome, if they are subjected to extreme physical or emotional trauma.
Fibromyalgia is divided into Primary FM and Secondary FM. Primary FM occurs over a length of
time triggered due to stress, emotional trauma or illness. Secondary FM is called Post Traumatic FM
as it occurs after physical trauma such as road accident, bad fall or injury. A vulnerable person may
not display FM symptoms prior to a trauma, even though the muscles may be susceptible to the
condition. However, when the muscle or soft tissue is traumatized, the pain free balance is
permanently disrupted, and FM is triggered.
The potential triggers of FM may be physical, metabolic, emotional or infectious. Physical triggers
may be due to stress to the central nervous system such as an accident, surgery, a bad fall, physical or
sexual abuse or even a difficult pregnancy. Metabolic

Crime Statistics Of Sex Crimes Against Children
Crime Statistics of Sex Crimes Against Children Studies done by David Finkelhor, Director of the
Crime Against Children Research Center, show that about one in five girls and about one in twenty
boys are victims of child sexual abuse. Over the course of their lifetime, 28% of U.S. youth s aged 14
to 17 have been sexually victimized. According to the 2003 National institute of Justice report three
out of four adolescent children have been sexually violated by someone they knew very well (Child
Abuse Statistics , 2012). The figure below represents children s exposure to violence in 2011 by the
child s age. The graph shows that children from the ages fourteen to seventeen were sexually
victimized the most while children aged zero to one were least exposed sexually (Childrens Exposure
to Violence , 2013).

Situational Typology The situational sex offender or also commonly known as regressed offender, is
an individual who sexually abuses children due to some sort of external stressor. For the most part
these individuals have normal sexual interest in other adults but may sexually abuse children to help
cope with the extreme stress in their lives. In most cases these stressors include: unemployment,
marital issues, drug abuse, loneliness, or the lack of acceptance by family members or peers (Miller

Analysis Of Nahco3 In Alka Seltzer Tablets Lab Report
What Is the Percent by Mass of NaHCO3 in Alka Seltzer Tablets?
When it comes to understanding how starting material and product effect each other, it has been
inevitably thought that the amount of starting material has always included a limiting and excess
reactant that conclusively determines the product amount. The Lab Manual stated in applicable cases,
such as buying amounts of starting material to form a certain product, could change a reaction, or have
economic effects of wasting unnecessary amounts of material, therefore, unnecessary amounts of
money.1 For instance, determining the amount of active ingredients in the fizz reaction of an Alka
Seltzer tablet is a great example to understand how much reactant is needed to cause the relief
(determined by the product) according to the Lab Manual.1 According to researcher Dr. Catherine

observation made is that the changing amounts in each trial according to Table 1.1 show that, with
changing amounts of starting material, the mass of carbon dioxide and the mass of sodium bicarbonate
are inevitably affected. However, looking closely at Figure 1.1, the amounts of vinegar added
increased in the experiment consequently making it the excess reactant to the sodium bicarbonate

Stop Cutting The Pacific Ocean Without Plastic Analysis
Stop Polluting the Pacific Ocean with Plastic
If someone says that the area of the floating plastic garbage in the central North Pacific Ocean is twice
the size of Texas, will you believe it? Charles Moore, an oceanographer who first came up with the
idea of Great Pacific Garbage Patch , caught sight of plastic trash floating in the North Pacific Gyre
when he was sailing from Los Angeles to Hawaii. I was confronted...with the sight of plastic, Moore
wrote in an essay for Natural History, It seemed unbelievable, but I never found a clear spot. No
matter what time of day I looked, plastic debris was floating everywhere: bottles, bottle caps,
wrappers, fragments ( History Algalita ). Besides the plastic that we can see from the surface, far
below the surface, more plastic exists. The plastic is slowly releasing toxic chemicals, harming the
water and the marine animals, and finally flows to the human body. Plastic makes our lives more
convenient, but without proper treatment, it will pollute the ocean instead; therefore, we should reduce
the amount of plastic waste we produce in order to prevent further pollution to the Pacific Ocean and
to protect the marine animals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

God has called you to bless the Jews, His chosen people, and He gave you this burden. He will use
your gift to remind them of His faithfulness and goodness towards them. Justice cries out on behalf of
the Jews, and in giving your gift, you will help administer justice to this persecuted people. The third
reason that you should sell your properties is that this call is God s answer. You were praying for the
money to help the Jews, and you asked God to give you their burdens. Again, the golden rule of faith
reminds you that God may choose to use you as an answer to your own prayers. You must be willing
to sacrifice of yourself and trust God, even as Abraham did when he laid Isaac on the altar to sacrifice

maybe the money could come another way, and you would not have to sell the properties.

To design simulate a state machine in VHDL for Two way Traffic light control for collision avoidance.
1.2 OBJECTIVE
In this assignment the main objective is to design the two way traffic light control and simulate it on
modelsim.
1.3 RESEARCH IDEAAND CONCEPTS
Traffic has been the most challenging problem on roads throughout the world for many years. The
density of road traffic has increased rapidly in the recent years. Traffic is the major issue for many
drivers; it generally results in journey delays as Latency, wasted time while waiting, increased
pressure to reduce performance and can cause people loss of business especially in emergency
situations.
Many schemes have been designed and implemented for relieving traffic as a primary objective.
However, these schemes have a varying effectiveness, and also it is not always obvious that, it will
work best in a given situation.
The appropriate colour space was adopted and the statistical analysis of traffic lights on the various
components of this colour space was carried out. Then the segmentation threshold was obtained and
the colour segmentation was completed according to the statistics result. The morphology was used to
complete the noise processing after the colour segmentation and the connected region was

Analysis Of Mark Twain s The Adventures Of Huckleberry...
CHAPTER III HUMANISM IN MARK TWAINS NOVELS A study of Mark Twain s Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn is an adventure in understanding changes in America itself. The book, at the center
of American geography and consciousness, asks readers to reexamine definitions of civilization and
freedom, right and wrong, social responsibility and inhumanity. Published in 1885, the novel recounts
those pre civil war days when the controversy over slavery, with designated slave and Free states,
disfigured the face of America and its view of itself as a land of the free. Both geographically and
otherwise, the story is an examination of life at the center: the center of America s premier river, the
Mississippi in the middle of the geographical United states, with slave states below, free states above,
which is the route toward freedom and escape for Huck and Jim; the center of one of the foremost
conflicts on American soil, slavery, which soon results in a civil war; the center of the coming of age
of both a young man and a nation that struggle to understand redefinitions of nationhood and freedom,
right and wrong; and the center of a shift from Romanticism to Realism in art and letters that would
provide for a new way for Americans to express and re create themselves. The novel offers an
excellent example of American picaresque fiction and meaningful use of dialect, although this dialect
may be difficult reading for students for whom English is not a first language. Although the final

Nervous Conditions ( Nc )
The present paper applies Ansgar Nünning s cognitive narratological approach to the study of
narrative unreliability and its relationship to the processes of resistance and change in Dangarembga s
novel, Nervous Conditions (NC). It is argued here that the first person narrator of the novel,
Tambudzai Sigauke (Tambu), has a certain vision of change through which she hopes to strike against
both patriarchy and colonialism. Certain aspects of Tambu s narrative voice, however, lead the reader
to doubt the authenticity of such a vision. Therefore, reading the novel in light of the narratological
concept of narrative unreliability provides insight into the success or failure of Tambu s vision of
change as presented in NC.
Dangarembga s Commonwealth Prize novel for Africa, NC, has received much critical attention.
Studies on the novel can be divided into different categories. Most of these studies, however, focus on
the feminist aspects of the text. Critics of Dangarembga s novel such as Nana Wilson tagoe (2009),
Carolyn Martin Shaw (2007), Pauline Ada Uwakweh (1995) and Rosemary Moyana (1994) spot light
on the dilemma of Zimbabwean women and the limited possibilities before them owing to male
domination on one hand, and the experience of colonialism on the other hand. Other critics such as D.
A. Odoi, Lesibana Rafapa and E. K. Klu (2014), Lily G. N. Mabura (2010), Katwiwa Mule (2006),

Government Control In Harrison Bergeron
Does our government have too much control on us? Do we have too many rules to follow? Kurt
Vonnegut, the author of Harrison Bergeron, writes about how the government tries to take control of
everyone. In this story Vonnegut writes how the Handicapper General makes the smarter, prettier and
stronger people wear handicaps. Some readers may think Vonnegut is writing about civil
rights. However, throughout this paper I am going to prove them wrong. In Vonnegut s story Harrison
Bergeron went against government control by taking off his handicaps. In the story Harrison showed
his rebellion when Harrison tore straps of his handicaps harness like wet tissue paper, tore straps
guaranteed to support five thousands pounds (Vonnegut). This quote represents the refusing of
government control by not obeying the government.Bradshaw made it clear that nobody willl ... Show

J Alfred Prufrock Loneliness
The Pitiful Prufrock of The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock
T.S. Elliot s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, is a melancholy poem
of one man s frustrated search to find the meaning of his existence. The
speaker s strong use of imagery contributes to the poems theme of communion and
loneliness.
The Poem begins with an invitation from Prufrock to follow him
through his self examination. The imagery of this invitation begins with a
startling simile, Let us go then you and I/ When the evening is spread out
against the sky/ Like a patient etherised upon a table. This simile literally
describes the evening sky, but functions on another level. Prufrock s

This city is suspended under the same

moves his attention from the city to his final destination; the room the women

previous urban landscape and adds anticipation to the ominous tension
surrounding the event. This line also is about time. The couplet suggests that
Prufrock has been around to see these women come and go, implying Prufrock has
been situated in the high societal environment for some time. The line also
implies that while others have come and gone from the social circles Prufrock is
a part of; Prufrock has stayed stagnating.
On the way, Prufrock deliberates
on whether he can find value in the cold superficial environment, and ask the
overwhelming question, Do I dare/ Disturb the universe? . He feels if he can
muster the courage to ask the question, he may at last find value in his life:
would it have been worth while/ To have bitten off the matter with a smile,? To

Doctrine Of Judicial Precedent
The doctrine of judicial precedent form part of the Malaysia system. The legal is one of the general
characteristics of the English legal system. Judicial precedent is a decision of a higher court that will
be binding on a lower court in hierarchy. The doctrine of judicial precedent is also called stare

similar. For example,Federal Court s decision is binding on Court of Appeal. This means like cases are

means the reason for the decision.lt can be explained as the legitimate reasoning upon which the
judgement in a specific case and the judges may use it in the future cases if the facts of the case is
similar.Sir Rupert Cross defines the ratio decidendi as any rule expressly or impliedly treated by the
judge as a necessary step in searching his conclusion. Obiter dicta means things said by the way, in
Latin phrase. Obiter dicta are anything else said about the law such as remarks, further observations

Odyssey Archetype Essay
Odyssey Archetype Essay The Odyssey, a ten long epic journey consisting of love, war, and despair;
the odyssey dives into human tragedy that no man would ever want to experience. This is a reason
why the odyssey is so significant to today s literature. The Odyssey occurred ancient Greece times.
The odysseys genre is an adventure but has aspects of all other genres. In this essay I will be
explaining the archetypes in the odyssey that are most relevant in the Odyssey. I will be going into full
detail on these three archetypes the hero, villain/monster, and the damsel in distress. I chose these
three archetypes because I recognized them the most while we were reading the Odyssey. The first
archetype i ll be explaining is the hero ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Does he blame others others or make excuses for shortcoming? No. This is what makes the difference
between a hero and a villain. Its how you react to a situation that differs you from a hero or a villain.
The next archetype i ll be talking about is the villain/monster archetype. These two archetypes are
basically the same that s why I grouped them together. There many examples of the monster archetype
in the odyssey such as scylla and charybdis, the Cyclopes, and the sirens. Come this way, honored
Odysseus great glory of the achaeans, and stay your ship so that you can listen here to our singing; for
no one see has ever sailed past this place in his black ship until he has listened to the honey sweet
voice that issues from our lips; then goes on well pleased, knowing more than he ever did; for we
know everything that the argives and the Trojans did and suffered in wide Troy through the gods
despite. Over all the generous earth we know everything
that happens. (12.184 196) . That was the Siren s song as they tried to lure Odysseus where they
would then kill him. The Greek people associated monsters and villains with women for example
Scylla, Sirens, and Circe the witch. The faces of ancient times are such distant shadows of our own
experiences , so alien in culture and superstition, what themes of dread and fright could expect to
share in common with the inhabitants of a world so far moved from our modern frame of mind? The
answer, actually, is quite a lot.

International Trade As A Tool For International Business

some things to watch for in which companies looking to use websites like alibaba.com for their trade

Abstract
The removal of phenol from aqueous solution was evaluated by batch method using two ion exchange
resins, Duolite A 171 (DLE 171) (a strong anion exchange resin) and Duolite A 368 plus (DLE 368) (a
weak anion exchange resin) and a nonfunctionalized Duolite S 861 (DLE 861) resin. The maximum
removal capacity was achieved at pH 11. The removal of phenol was found to be in the following
order DLE 171 DLE 368 DLE 861. The mechanism involved in the process was found to be both
adsorption and ion exchange. The resin was characterized using FTIR and SEM with EDAX analysis.
The equilibrium data were fitted to Freundlich isotherm. The kinetics of the sorption was found to
follow pseudo second order and intraparticle diffusion models. The values of thermodynamic
parameters indicate the nature of sorption is spontaneous and exothermic.
Keywords: Removal of Phenol; Polymeric Resins; Duolite A 171; Duolite A 368; Duolite S 171.

Growing Up Animal Research Paper
Growing Up Animal
All animals are raised differently. Animals parent their offspring in different ways, mostly varying on
what climate they live in. Animals that are raised in the ocean are going to be raised differently from
animals that live in the desert. For some the struggles could be avoiding the top predators and for
others it could be learning to hunt as the top predators. Ranging temperatures also play a factor.
Animals that live in the ocean won t have to worry about when to hibernate or when to really stock up
on food while other animals will. Animals also learn in different ways. One may also learn by
watching the older adults in the group. Killer Whales are a mighty ocean animal. Killer whales live

The Representation Of Villains In Disney s Film, Big Hero
Just looking at it, Disney s film Big Hero 6 is another representation of superheroes vs. mad scientist
villains. A 14 year old prodigy named Hiro teams up with a group of friends from his nerd school to
take down a villain. This movie has an amazing script and an even better voice cast. It sounds and
looks fantastic, Disney s new technologies helped the movie achieve its creative quality. But even
though this movie is different. We all have heard this same story before. This film takes the typical
story line of a superheroes tale and mixes in creative themes that go against the typical assumptions of
the genre. This film shows us how it is a better choice to choose non violence over violence, how even

Hiro finds a way to override Baymax programming which then turns Baymax to a crime fighting
killing machine. In one of the most emotional scenes of the film, Baymax becomes the instrument of
revenge that Hiro wanted him to be. Baymax was meant to heal and mend people. He then later
learned to fight, but that is not who Tadashi created him to be. This movie argues that violence is not
something natural but rather a learned behavior, we must be reprogrammed to accept it. The rest of the
film reinforces the idea of the characters to find ways to stop the villain without using violence. The
best of the villains are the ones who believe that what they are doing is a just cause. In Big Hero 6 ,
the masked man s motive for having stolen Hiro s microbots is understandable: he needs them to save
a life. Nevertheless revenge is not justice, despite the villains deeper motives he is still a bad man. But
the villain s backstory and motives pull at our heartstrings and it is indeed hard not to have empathy
for him. By creating a villain whose intentions were nothing more than misguided grief, the film
teaches the audience a valuable lesson about

goes against any basic right that all humans are born with. Some of these rights include the right to

Through apartheid, the Nationalist Party of South Africa had forced millions of people to leave their
homes because they were colored. In the text, it says, The National Party passed and enforced laws
that kept white and black South Africans separated and benefited whites while stripping non whites of
their rights (Doc 5). This quote explains that the National Party had consciously made a decision to be
discriminative against blacks and appraise whites. Another basic right of all humans is that everyone is
equal and everyone, no matter their race, should be treated the same. The National Party is clearly not
honoring this right even in the 20th century. Another example is found when in the text, it says, From
1960 to 1983, the apartheid government forcibly moved 3.5 million black South Africans in one of the
largest mass removals of people in modern history (Doc 5). This illustrates the apartheid system in
action. Millions of people are being pushed out of their rightful homes because and only because of
the color of their skin. Without a doubt, the National Party is not for this fundamental right of equality.
On the bright side however, even more recently, the apartheid system has been done away with. It can
now be said that just about every modern society is free of racism and discrimination, at least legally
(Outside Information). Strifes as such are now only but a memory due to modern

Corporate Social Responsibility in GRI
SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING AND THE GRI Overview of CSR Corporate social responsibility
(CSR) refers to the social and environmental responsibility policies and practices developed by an
organization to increase its positive influence and reduce its negative activity towards society
(Schwartz 2010). Organizations must take responsibility for their actions and all the members of the
organization must comprehensively review and consider all their tasked achievements and
contributions. A healthy balance between economic progress, social responsibility, and environmental
protection can lead to a competitive advantage and solidify an organization s place as a corporate
citizen (Dickinson, et.al, 2008). Corporate citizenship goes beyond charitable donations and public
relations it is an important determinant of trust in communities in which the organization may operate,
helps attract and retain the best employees, and ensures integration of everyday business operations
and corporate goals (Lewis 2011). CSR reporting is a voluntary disclosure that provides managers and
employees with needed information to make decisions that help improve processes and products.
Examples include management earnings forecast, social and environmental reports, information on
achieved projects and company targets, and risks management. Internal reporting provides critical
feedback to employees that enables them to see how their individual contributions add to the success
of the organization.

Second, the use of the burning barn was more than just a scare tactic, it represents America under

  • 2. Mainstreaming Special Needs Mainstreaming special needs The soaring cost of special education for disabled students has been appropriately integrated into public schools for the common good of all students from various social classes. Special education has had a deep histroy that has been characterized by a score of legislations that has set this form of education and how it is administered to assimilate students with learning disabilities into standard classrooms. In both the United Kingdom and the United States, the first account of special education recognizes the deaf and blind students. In England the first school to cater for special education was the Liverpool Blind School in the year 1791. In the United States, the first ever special education school was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In spite of these legislations, the law was not acted upon or rather implemented immediately. Still, it took time for compulsory education for all to be actualized (Kesha 120). The next stage in the development of special education was segregatioin that sought to iinvolve student with disabilities in the same learning instutions as all other students, but in in isolate classrooms. However, this changed upon the enactment of the all handicapped Children Act of 1975, which introduced mainstreaming. This had a postive implication in that handicapped chidren were included and encouregaed to particpate in regualr classrooms hence the period of integration dawned. This was a remarkable achievement and the Act pertaining to education for the handicapped was amended to include six new critical elements in fostering special education. These elements were: parental participation in the special education process, legititmate process to enforece accountability, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to formulate a custom program for each student, Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) that allowed the disabled children in regular classrooms as much as possible, A program to find and assess disabled children in a fair manner, free and approprioate public education (FAPE) for all children. • 3. Separation Anxiety Disorders There are several treatment options for separation anxiety disorder in children. The golden standard treatment of separation anxiety and other anxiety disorders is cognitive behavioral therapy, also known as CBT (Ehrenreich, Santucci, Weiner, 2008). There are a couple of goals for this approach that involve both the child and parent (James, James, Cowdrey, Soler, Choke, 2015). These researchers state that one of the goals is for the child to be able to recognize their own anxious feelings and their physiological responses when they experience anxiety. Another goal is for the child to have an ability to identify and control their thoughts during experiences that are anxiety provoking for them. Therapists want children with separation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, referrals can be made by the therapist for different mental health services, since individuals who end their CBT treatment often worry that they ll have the same symptoms. These services will be helpful for children and adolescents with separation anxiety disorder, since there are high risks of suicide within this population (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). There are different procedures for CBT that can help children with separation anxiety disorder. A procedure within this therapeutic approach that is proven to work for children and adolescents with separation and other anxiety disorders is systematic desensitization, which is an intervention that decreases anxiety and fears within an individual (Friedberg McClure, 2015). The process usually entails experiencing something that is anxiety provoking to a client and pairing it with a calming technique such as relaxation. For this intervention to be successful, hierarchies of anxiety for the client must be established so that they are being met and all aspects of anxiety must be understood by the therapist. A cognitive treatment in CBT is imagery, which is a form of relaxation that is used for decreasing stress and providing relief to the individual (Cully Teten, 2008). This intervention focused on the individual to gain back physical, emotional, and cognitive control of their thoughts, and is really affective for forms of anxiety. ... The article describes each approach and evaluates the pros and cons of each method. The article also shares data on how well each approach has worked in various countries around the world. The Method of Intervention uses direct sanctions to punish the bully/bullies. In this particular method, the bully or bullies receive a punishment that is decided by the school administration. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bullies are asked to sit in with the counselor or teacher one to one. The counselor/teacher discusses the victim and the distress that the bullying has caused them. The bullies are asked how they can help to improve the situation. Once the counselor has met with all of the bullies and have established that they need to be helping the victim and improving the situation, then they are asked to meet together as a group. They discuss their suggestions as a group and develop a plan to resolve the problem. Finally, the group meets again, this time with the victim present. The plan is explained to the victim and ultimately a common goal is agreed upon. • 5. Essay on Something about Flann O Brien Flann O Brien s At Swim Two Birds is a multifarious work of purpose, at once an experimental narrative that directly responds to James Joyce s modernist work (acting as a forerunner of post modernist thought), and a study on the tortuous challenges facing the dichotomies of Irish culture. At Swim is at its most understated, a text of parodies. O Brien expertly strings together the many layers of his novel s world to express a slew of critical observations about modernist ideology and realism, as well as exposing a necessary dialogue on the formation and perception of Irish culture. A third major aspect of At Swim Two Birds lies closer to O Brien s own life experience: this is a novel of Irish identity. The Irish identity that O Brien ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... O Brien investigates the clash of ideologies carefully, having found himself in a unique position which assisted in the observation of both sides. It is significant, McKullen writes, that Flann O Brien who was born into that first, critical and cosmopolitan, post independence generation was also paradoxically more familiar with Irish traditions than many of the Revivalists who embraced them or the Modernists that rejected them (McKullen, 76). O Brien, born Brian O Nuallain, was the son of ardent Irish nationalists; he spoke the Irish language at home, vacationed in the Gaeltacht (that is, the fringe of Western Ireland where Irish is predominantly spoken), and studied old and middle Irish in college. As for his own feelings on the subject, while At Swim Two Birds includes a myriad of old Irish folktale and mythology, it also points to a dissatisfaction with the Cultural Protectionism that was prevalent all around him. According to Dr. Joseph Brooker who writes on the subject, in his own way, [O Brien] was one of the period s most penetrating critics of Irish pride (Brooker, 31). Viewing the over determination of Cultural Protectionism, O Brien could see the silliness of glorifying what must have essentially become caricatures of the Irish heritage. Irish scholar Eihblin Evans adds that, for O Brien, Irish identity had been hijacked by a set of official cliches with disastrous effects (Evans, 104). At Swim Two Birds ... • 6. Cannibalism Essay examples There are so many bad things in the world but according to many, cannibalism is considered just about the worst. Depending on your point of view, it rises above even such criminal abominations as, rape and genocide. Then again, we live in a culture, in which people would run vomiting to the bathroom if they saw what went into making their McDonald s hamburgers. Cannibalism, also known as anthropophagi, is defined as the act or practice of eating members of the same species. The word anthropophagi comes from the Arawakan language name for the Carib Indians of the West Indies. The Caribs are well known for their practice of cannibalism. Among humans, this practice has been attributed to people in the past all over the world, including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Among humans, cannibalism has been widespread in prehistoric societies on all continents. It is still believed to be practiced in remote areas of the island of New Guinea. It existed until recently in parts of West and Central Africa, Sumatra, Melanesia, and Polynesia. It also existed among various Indian tribes of North and South America and among aborigines of Australia and the Maoris of New Zealand. The reasons for cannibalism have varied. Sometimes there was simply limited food. Some groups liked the taste of human flesh. However, mostly the reasons had to do with revenge or punishment for crimes, ceremony and ritual, or magic. Some victorious tribes ate their dead enemies to absorb their strength. In come rituals, the deceased were eaten by relatives, as a manner of reverence or honor for their ancestors, or as a desire for the soul of the dead to be reborn in the body of the consumer. This is called endocannablism. Civilized people have to resort to cannibalism from time to time, as a mean of survival, under desperate circumstances. The story of the Donner Party is one of the more tragic incidents in American frontier history. A group of about 90 immigrants led by George Donner was caught in a blinding snowstorm in the Sierra Nevada range of California in October 1846. Survivors, who made their way out early in 1847, ... Harsh light, loud sounds, eating spicy foods, inhaling heavy perfumes or vapors, or even a light touch of hand can be extremely painful. The pain is at its highest or severe upon waking in morning and gradually reduces as the day progresses. What Causes Fibromyalgia?: It is difficult to pinpoint a single cause for fibromyalgia. In fact, fibromyalgia problem may be due to multiple causes, and research is going on to find out the underlying causes of FM syndrome. However, it is widely believed by medical community that FM syndrome may be a genetic or hereditary related issue. Persons who are genetically vulnerable or genetically predisposed towards FM have a greater chance of showing FM syndrome, if they are subjected to extreme physical or emotional trauma. Fibromyalgia is divided into Primary FM and Secondary FM. Primary FM occurs over a length of time triggered due to stress, emotional trauma or illness. Secondary FM is called Post Traumatic FM as it occurs after physical trauma such as road accident, bad fall or injury. A vulnerable person may not display FM symptoms prior to a trauma, even though the muscles may be susceptible to the condition. However, when the muscle or soft tissue is traumatized, the pain free balance is permanently disrupted, and FM is triggered. The potential triggers of FM may be physical, metabolic, emotional or infectious. Physical triggers may be due to stress to the central nervous system such as an accident, surgery, a bad fall, physical or sexual abuse or even a difficult pregnancy. Metabolic ... Stop Cutting The Pacific Ocean Without Plastic Analysis Stop Polluting the Pacific Ocean with Plastic If someone says that the area of the floating plastic garbage in the central North Pacific Ocean is twice the size of Texas, will you believe it? Charles Moore, an oceanographer who first came up with the idea of Great Pacific Garbage Patch , caught sight of plastic trash floating in the North Pacific Gyre when he was sailing from Los Angeles to Hawaii. I was confronted...with the sight of plastic, Moore wrote in an essay for Natural History, It seemed unbelievable, but I never found a clear spot. No matter what time of day I looked, plastic debris was floating everywhere: bottles, bottle caps, wrappers, fragments ( History Algalita ). Besides the plastic that we can see from the surface, far below the surface, more plastic exists. The plastic is slowly releasing toxic chemicals, harming the water and the marine animals, and finally flows to the human body. CHAPTER III HUMANISM IN MARK TWAINS NOVELS A study of Mark Twain s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is an adventure in understanding changes in America itself. The book, at the center of American geography and consciousness, asks readers to reexamine definitions of civilization and freedom, right and wrong, social responsibility and inhumanity. Published in 1885, the novel recounts those pre civil war days when the controversy over slavery, with designated slave and Free states, disfigured the face of America and its view of itself as a land of the free. Both geographically and otherwise, the story is an examination of life at the center: the center of America s premier river, the Mississippi in the middle of the geographical United states, with slave states below, free states above, which is the route toward freedom and escape for Huck and Jim; the center of one of the foremost conflicts on American soil, slavery, which soon results in a civil war; the center of the coming of age of both a young man and a nation that struggle to understand redefinitions of nationhood and freedom, right and wrong; and the center of a shift from Romanticism to Realism in art and letters that would provide for a new way for Americans to express and re create themselves. The novel offers an excellent example of American picaresque fiction and meaningful use of dialect, although this dialect may be difficult reading for students for whom English is not a first language. Nervous Conditions ( Nc ) The present paper applies Ansgar Nünning s cognitive narratological approach to the study of narrative unreliability and its relationship to the processes of resistance and change in Dangarembga s novel, Nervous Conditions (NC). It is argued here that the first person narrator of the novel, Tambudzai Sigauke (Tambu), has a certain vision of change through which she hopes to strike against both patriarchy and colonialism. Certain aspects of Tambu s narrative voice, however, lead the reader to doubt the authenticity of such a vision. Therefore, reading the novel in light of the narratological concept of narrative unreliability provides insight into the success or failure of Tambu s vision of change as presented in NC. Dangarembga s Commonwealth Prize novel for Africa, NC, has received much critical attention. Studies on the novel can be divided into different categories. Most of these studies, however, focus on the feminist aspects of the text. Animals that are raised in the ocean are going to be raised differently from animals that live in the desert. For some the struggles could be avoiding the top predators and for others it could be learning to hunt as the top predators. Ranging temperatures also play a factor. Animals that live in the ocean won t have to worry about when to hibernate or when to really stock up on food while other animals will. Animals also learn in different ways. • 30. The Representation Of Villains In Disney s Film, Big Hero Just looking at it, Disney s film Big Hero 6 is another representation of superheroes vs. mad scientist villains. A 14 year old prodigy named Hiro teams up with a group of friends from his nerd school to take down a villain. This movie has an amazing script and an even better voice cast. It sounds and looks fantastic, Disney s new technologies helped the movie achieve its creative quality. But even though this movie is different. We all have heard this same story before. This film takes the typical story line of a superheroes tale and mixes in creative themes that go against the typical assumptions of the genre. Hiro finds a way to override Baymax programming which then turns Baymax to a crime fighting killing machine. In one of the most emotional scenes of the film, Baymax becomes the instrument of revenge that Hiro wanted him to be. Baymax was meant to heal and mend people. He then later learned to fight, but that is not who Tadashi created him to be. This movie argues that violence is not something natural but rather a learned behavior, we must be reprogrammed to accept it. The rest of the film reinforces the idea of the characters to find ways to stop the villain without using violence. The best of the villains are the ones who believe that what they are doing is a just cause. In Big Hero 6 , the masked man s motive for having stolen Hiro s microbots is understandable: he needs them to save a life. Nevertheless revenge is not justice, despite the villains deeper motives he is still a bad man. But the villain s backstory and motives pull at our heartstrings and it is indeed hard not to have empathy for him. By creating a villain whose intentions were nothing more than misguided grief, the film teaches the audience a valuable lesson about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The conductor material is almost perpetually AN Al alloy, created into many strands and presumably bolstered with steel strands. Copper was generally used for overhead transmission, however Al is lighter, yields solely marginally reduced performance and prices abundant less. Overhead conductors square measure a trade goods provided by many corporations worldwide. Conductor sizes vary from twelve mm2 (#6 yank wire gauge) to 750 mm2 (1,590,000 circular mils area), with variable resistance and current carrying capability. Thicker wires would cause a comparatively tiny increase in capability as a result of the electrical phenomenon, that causes most of this to flow near the surface of the wire. owing to this current limitation, multiple parallel cables (called bundle conductors) square measure used once higher capability is required. In the text, it says, The National Party passed and enforced laws that kept white and black South Africans separated and benefited whites while stripping non whites of their rights (Doc 5). This quote explains that the National Party had consciously made a decision to be discriminative against blacks and appraise whites. Another basic right of all humans is that everyone is equal and everyone, no matter their race, should be treated the same. The National Party is clearly not honoring this right even in the 20th century. Another example is found when in the text, it says, From 1960 to 1983, the apartheid government forcibly moved 3.5 million black South Africans in one of the largest mass removals of people in modern history (Doc 5). This illustrates the apartheid system in action. Millions of people are being pushed out of their rightful homes because and only because of the color of their skin. Without a doubt, the National Party is not for this fundamental right of equality. On the bright side however, even more recently, the apartheid system has been done away with. It can now be said that just about every modern society is free of racism and discrimination, at least legally (Outside Information). Strifes as such are now only but a memory due to modern ... Corporate Social Responsibility in GRI SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING AND THE GRI Overview of CSR Corporate social responsibility (CSR) refers to the social and environmental responsibility policies and practices developed by an organization to increase its positive influence and reduce its negative activity towards society (Schwartz 2010).
