Point By Point Essay Example
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Point By Point Essay Example" can be both challenging and
rewarding. The difficulty lies in the need for meticulous planning, a comprehensive
understanding of the subject matter, and the ability to present arguments coherently. To create a
well-structured point-by-point essay, one must carefully analyze the chosen points, identify their
significance, and establish clear connections between them.
The process starts with thorough research to gather relevant information and examples to support
each point. This requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to sift through various sources to
find credible and compelling evidence. Once the information is collected, the challenge is to
organize it logically, ensuring a seamless flow from one point to the next.
Writing a point-by-point essay demands a strong grasp of language and the skill to articulate
thoughts clearly. Each paragraph should build upon the previous one, creating a cohesive and
persuasive argument. Transition sentences become crucial in maintaining the essay's coherence
and guiding the reader through the points seamlessly.

without becoming overly verbose. Striking the right balance between depth and conciseness is a
skill that adds another layer of complexity to the writing process.
On the flip side, the satisfaction of successfully crafting a well-structured point-by-point essay is
immensely rewarding. It allows for a nuanced exploration of the chosen topic, showcasing the
writer's ability to analyze, synthesize, and communicate ideas effectively. Ultimately, the essay
should leave a lasting impression on the reader, prompting them to consider the points presented
and perhaps even reconsider their own perspectives.

What Was The Expansion Of Westward Expansion
During the 1800s, the United States institutionalized the concept of expansionism
throughout its states. This long term event is known as the westward expansion, a
time when the United States government deemed it necessary to increase the
agricultural use of land, as well as to create a transcontinental railroad that connected
Eastern states with Western states. This, however exceedingly great, resulted in the
systematic destruction of Native American land, practices, and beliefs. Decimation of
these things was generated through the policies implemented by the United States, as
the policies attempted to assimilate Native Americans. Native Americans were
viewed as an obstacle for the construction, as well as the expansion of the west, thus
the United States devised policies that would ultimately set forth the dismantling of
Native American territories. First and foremost, the Dawes Act, enacted in 1887,
advocated for the separation and disjointing of Native American territories, in favor
of putting the Natives on reservations. In the act, it proclaims that ...where any tribe
or band of Indians have been, or shall hereafter be, located [placed] upon any
reservation created for their use... (Dawes Act). Illustrating that a policy, implemented
by the United States, specifically targeted Native Americans land by fractionalizing
their territories into smaller, more controllable areas known as reservations. Similarly,
the Indian Removal Act of 1830 suggested the literal
From Suffering To Overcoming By John Walsh
From Suffering to Overcoming Imagine taking your young child with you to run
errands. You race into Target and then are delayed as you search for the one item
you need. In that one moment, your child walks off to find the toy section. You
begin to search around you and then quickly become frantic. Your mind takes you
places you have always feared. What if someone has taken my baby? This scene and
other similar to it are far too familiar in our world.
An estimated 797,000 children are reported missing in one year, however, only
approximately 100 of them are stereotypical kidnappings (Martindale 6). Many
times children that are reported missing have either run away or cannot be found for
a few hours. Only a handful are taken for ransom and against their own will. The
stereotypical kidnapping, which is very rare, involves abduction by a stranger or
slight acquaintance who detains the child overnight, transports him or her at least 50
miles, holds the child for ransom or intends to keep him permanently, or kills the
child (Martindale 6). John Walsh, host of America s Most Wanted, criminal
investigator, and loving father of Adam Walsh has placed his mark on a world full
of corruption and dangerous crimes. After the murder of his son, John Walsh used
this tragic event as a motivation and inspiration to become passionate for the safety
of others. He has been able to bring some safety to a world that is full of treacherous
and life threatening people, save many lives, and
Descriptive Essay About State Park
Brook! You will never guess what I saw at the state park in Arkansas with my
family. I want to hear all about it, walk me through it step by step and don t leave
any detail out.
OK, I will start with the drive to the park.
The road is secluded, trees encompass you as you drive. The GPS directs that it is
only a few more miles, but in your mind, you know you need to turn around. Then
the trees open up to a little wooden cabin just off the road. After 6 hours in the
vehicle, you bust open the door, and as your legs swing out the door, you can feel
a stretch throughout your entire body. Your body was stiff but now is surrounded
by the fresh air. The little cabin is actually a camp store, and in it you find the
assistance and the map needed to tackle the upcoming adventure. The road winds a
few more miles till you near the lodge. Buckled down with water, a camera, and
wearing the proper shoes you walk toward the trail. Something catches your eye, and
with a turn of your head, there it is. The lodge overlooks the most incredible view,
one that could only have been created by God. The lookout reveals mountains of trees
with an unforeseeable future. After admiring the beauty, the trail calls your name. It
starts out wide and covered with gravel, without a moment to think the terrain
changes. You start to walk down the mountain, the gravel turned to dirt and with the
help from the dew and rain it was mud, and the mountain grew a little steeper with
every breath. Later, you

relationships with customers, that is, developing the loyalty of consumers is seen as
the key factor in winning market share and developing a sustainable competitive

Greek Pottery Research Paper
Pottery can not only tell us about the past, but it can also tell us about people s
beliefs and what people did in the past. Pottery was used for many purposes. It was
made in many different shapes and sizes. Some pieces of pottery had unique
pictures and designs on them. The pictures and designs expressed different types of
things that went on in the daily lives of ancient Greeks. Music and entertainment,
religious beliefs, death and burial traditions are a few aspects of Greek life that are
pictured on many different types of ancient Greek pottery. Music was a big part of
the daily life of ancient Greece. Greek children learned a musical instrumentat a
young age. Music continued to be a part of their lives throughout adulthood. It was...

The Greeks took care of the dead by washing them, putting them in tombs, and
bringing offerings to their grave. The women s role was to wash and wrap the
dead bodies in cloth. They also decorated them with flowers and herbs. The men
dug the area in which the body was to be buried. On this first piece of pottery, it
looks like people are walking as if they were in a funeral procession. Women are
surrounding the dead person and men are following the women. The pottery has a
top that looks like a funnel which comes down and narrows out into a long neck.
At the bottom of the long neck it starts to get wider and forms a shape that looks
like a vase. The vase sits on a very small pedestal. On the sides of the narrow neck
there are two handles that look like very long and thin wings. On the neck of the
pot, there is one women standing there. The design above her head looks like a
wreath. She looks like she is crying over a body. She is on top of everything that is
on the pottery which leads me to conclude that she is an important part of this
piece. The dead person may have been her son or husband. At the bottom of the
pottery there is a design that looks like black spikes. The pot is entirely black with
the picture in gold paint. This pot was called a Loutrophoros. It was used for
holding water to wash the dead body. After the body was buried, the Greeks put
offerings on the graves of the people who have passed away. This next

Bogus Science Everyone wants to live longer, but the lengths that people will go is
outrageous. People are so desperate to fight the inevitable that they are willing to fall
for bogus scientific claims. One of these cases is Eating nuts linked to healthier,

eating nuts will increase your life expectancy, but is that really the case? Foremost, to
determine if this article is relaying truthful information we need to look at the
scientific method. When examining the research, found in the New England Journal
of Medicine, the experiment is looking for a relationship between nut consumption
and mortality rate. The hypothesis is that consuming nuts will

Brad Pitt is a good looking guy. He has lots of money, and he has been nominated

To highlight Saferack s superior record, diverse utility, and safety, let s take a light

Saferack. It may be a bit tongue in cheek, but the overall point should come across

Linda Albert s Cooperative Discipline
As a teacher I plan to base my classroom management plan on Linda Albert s
Cooperative Discipline. I will also incorporate aspects of Positive Discipline in my
classroom management plan. I chose Cooperative Discipline as the foundation of my
personal management plan because I agree with the model that Linda Albert has
created. I believe that students should be able to start making their own decisions in
middle schoolinstead of constantly being put into a mold that some educators believe
is necessary in order to teach. Rather than constantly disciplining my students instead
I will use this style to manage them. I agree with this approach because research has
shown us that middle school is where students really begin to find their sense of self.

To me this is one of the most important things we can do for our students as middle
school is a time when these children are full of self doubt and insecurities about their
own worth. If we can bolster students feeling of worth it will help relieve stress and
increase student productivity.
I hope that the school I work with allows for teachers to use their own form of
classroom management instead of having a blanket style throughout the school. I
believe a blanket style could work well, but it would require everyone to be on the
same page. Getting thirty or so teachers all from different backgrounds on the same
page is going to be difficult. I wouldn t be completely against a blanket approach so
long as I could see evidence that it worked well.
For my class I want the students to feel a certain amount of control is theirs. To do
this I want to allow them to create the rules for the classroom as well as the
consequences for breaking those rules. Both of these activities will be teacher
guided so that I can help make sure they are fair. I will also assign them tasks that
deal with routine in the classroom such as taking up papers or helping to pass out
things. This will allow them to feel ownership of their environment. I want them to
feel that they can approach me to ask questions about anything the classroom

Regeneration And Central Nervous System
The above process to neuronal regeneration takes place both in the peripheral and
central nervous system however, a number of factors are present in the CNS for
example Spinal cord injury causes a rapid stop of regeneration of damaged axons.
The site of a spinal cord injury as a result of the phenomena occur eventually to
produce a cavity filled with liquid syringomyelic CSF and covered with a layer of
glial scar. This scar and cavity form a loss of continuity of long nerve pathways of
the spinal cord and prevent the occurrence of neuronal regeneration process. Work
on cellular therapies allowed researchers to isolate and implement of clinical
transplantation experiments olfactory ensheathing glia (OGC). This is a
population of cells with unique properties to stimulate the regeneration of CNS
axons opening the locking the glial scar, screening of regenerating axons and
produce around casing. OGC activity may however be very limited in the case of
spinal cord tissue defects dividing the axon ends. To solve the problem of
syringomyelic cavity and loss of continuity of spinal cord tissue caused further
studies of biomaterials. The aim is to create an artificial extracellular matrix that is
likely to constitute a bridge for regenerating spinal cord fibers. Such an implant
would stimulate neuronal regeneration process by establishing a physical connection
between the ends of the spinal cord and could increase the efficiency of the use of
OGC. Studies on the use of

Unemployment In Australia Essay
Unemployment: As can be seen in Fig 3 below, the unemployment rate in Australia
has recently dropped below 5.8%, which is the lowest it has been for over 20
months. This is despite the economy struggling over the previous 12 months due to
a fall in investment in the mining industry. This has led to the Reserve Bank of
Australia (RBA) reducing interest rates on two occasions in the past 12 months to
encourage the non mining sectors of the economy to fill this void and invest in
resources, but some businesses are still reluctant to spend money. NAB economist
Tapas Strickland said he expected strong jobs growth to continue into 2016, stating

This growth rate was primarily driven by high consumer spending supported by
both government spending and rising employment levels. According to a report by
the Australian Bureau of statistics, consumer spending contributed to two thirds of
GDP growth in the fourth quarter. This came despite a fall in income levels as
Australian residents used their savings for spending purposes, and was also helped
by a booming real estate sector which was the largest contributor to the GDP
growth in the fourth quarter. (Mehta, 2016). As can be seen in Fig.4 below,
consumer spending in australia increased to 231332 million in the last qtr of 2015
from 229576 million in the third qtr of 2015. There are numerous legal procedures to

Leica Brand Positioning Case Study
Positioning
In this section, we will analyze how Leica is positioned in the market. What makes
it different than any other brand? Brand positioning is an important concept in the
marketing strategy. It is at the heart of every strategy in the market. It is how a
company or a brand s products and offerings are designed differently in a way that is
placed uniquely in the mind of customers compared to competitors.
We ve been experiencing a period of a changed photographic business sector. There
was a considerable amount of questions after we opened our store in Dubai on
whether we were turning into a luxurious brand. All things considered, our stores
were very reminiscent of adornments stores. At the end, Leica stores are indicative of

Many people cannot purchase a Leica in their early years. However, as their income
rises by time, Leica products turn out to be more obtainable. Asaad (2016) wanted to
show us how individuals actually save money just to get the Leica camera. Those
people who see it really different than any other brand. There was a Philippian guy
who each week passes by the Leica office Dubai and just look at the camera, try
taking pictures with it, and gets motivated to save more money. He kept passing by
the store for about two years until he had the chance to actually purchase it. Leica
is a great investment. Investing in Leica is not a waste of money at all. On the
other hand, you can sell it after ten years, and receive more than quadruple the price,
said Asaad (2016). In addition when people become more aware about Leica products
and that they are made in Germany by hand; they start to think fairly about the
A Fair System Of Taxation
Since taxes have been collected in the United States, there has been substantial debate
about what constitutes a truly fair system of taxation. After all, taxation without
representation was the basis on which the Revolutionary War was fought against
England; the new colonies were loathe to continue to accept a system in which they
had to pay taxes that were dictated by a monarchy that appeared to have less and
less interest in fairness. In fact, Great Britain had become completely engaged in
finding ways to earn income based on taxing its colonies. So resistant to the idea of
taxationwith the first colonists that the first federal statutes in the United States
imposing the legal obligation to pay a federal income taxwere adopted by... Show

This suggestion is viewed as an extremely fair response to the problems with the
tax code, because it supports an equitable solution for all taxpayers, regardless of
their income level. However, another proposal that has become popular completely
eliminates the current progressive tax code as well as the idea of a flat tax. The Fair
Tax is not a tax on income but instead would replace all existing income taxes
including payroll taxes, with a single consumption tax (Erb.) Discussion about the flat
tax versus the fair tax in comparison with the current progressive income tax
highlights a wide perspective of views about the appropriate way for the
government to collect revenue from its citizens. Supporters of all three
configurations make sound arguments to justify continuing with the current system
or adopting one of the two alternatives. The current system, the progressive income
tax, is popular because it is essentially exactly what it sounds like, i.e., the tax rate
that anyone pays rises, or progresses, as income increases. In fact, such a
progressive income tax system can be created even when the rates remain flat
through the use of personal exemptions, tax credits, and tax deductions which
essentially change the tax rate that is in effect (Erb.) People tend to like progressive
tax rates because they are a way of raising revenue by taxing people who have the

Brief History of African American Roles in Film
African Americans have had a long history in the American motion picture industry.
Early depictions of African American men and women were limited to demeaning
stereotypical images of people of color. During the first decades of the 20th century,
many films depicted idealized vision of life in the South. These films glorified the
image of the Old South .African American characters, in keeping with the dominant
stereotypes, were portrayed as incompetent, child like, hyper sexualized, and criminal.
Even the roles for African Americans such as loyal servants, mammies, and butlers
reinforced a belief that the proper social position for Blacks was that of a servant
who was unswervingly devoted to his/her White masters and to upholding the current
social order.
The growing momentum of the Civil Rights Movement brought more changes in

Religion to many people, myself included, is the basis of who they are. Jong

course of this semester, I have leaned on my religious views to get me through, each
morning before class, I sit in my car and read my bible. Then, coming into class, I
apply my religious thoughts to the topic of the day, it is amazing just how much that
alone changed my views.
Throughout the semester, my values have not really been altered that much. I have
however, accepted people s opinions that are way different from mine. I have heard
numerous people talk about why they think like they do and where they get their
morals from. There have been many times that the people that are in my group, or
sit around me have said things that I do not agree with at all, but instead of arguing,
I listened. While I did not agree with them, in some instances I agreed with their
reasoning behind things, and I think that is important. I think this class is a lot about
learning that everyone is not the same, and that everyone is always going to have a
differnt opinion than you do, and for the first time I think that is ok.
This course has defiantly taught me a lot about stereotype, not just that I have but
that everyone else around me has as well. Coming into the class, I never expected it

What Are The Arguments Against Welfare Drug Testing

23 February 2016 Welfare Drug Testing
Drug testing people on welfare, would they be asking themselves whether it is right
or wrong? If some do believe that drug testing people on welfare is right, then they
would not be alone or incorrect. Welfare drugtesting is a very controversial topic,
there are many people debating fiercely on both sides of this heated argument; they
debate about whether testing is necessary and if it is unconstitutional on the case of
probable cause. Some people sincerely believe that it is malicious, that it violates on
the privacy of the recipients, and they are extremely against even the notion of drug
testing recipients; many people stand on the opposing sides of this ... Show more

doorways to help determine the height of a robber as well as limiting the stock of
controlled substances or to have controlled substances in a locked safe, or otherwise
hard to get to location.2 Time is a robber s worst enemy so implementing ways to
slow down the process may make the robber abort the robbery. According to John
Partridge of the Drug Enforcement Administration, another suggestion is to have
communication with other pharmacies in the area and with local law enforcement in
advance of any robbery or burglary incidents and to invite law enforcement to tour the
pharmacyand offer recommendations on deterring theft.7 Also, make sure there is

If the robber is not wearing a mask, Officer Hartshorn shared that taking note of the
robber s face can be very useful in an investigation.2 However, other schools of
thought on this matter state that it is better to take a submissive stance, not to
look the perpetrator in the eye (i.e., don t stare) and keep eyes down so the robber
will not think s/he can be identified, which could make the situation become deadly.
Using downward directed and peripheral vision to see clothing, shoes, tattoos, a
weapon, and as much of the robber as possible is less likely to escalate the event.7
Some pharmacies have a no escalation policy, encouraging employees to not do
anything that would anger the robber and perhaps make the situation more
dangerous than it already is. In doing so, an employee should be cooperative and
remain calm.7 Officer Hartshorn states that if the robber says s/he has a gun, assume
that to be true.2 Pharmacy employees should not get an attitude, try to be a hero,
Double Standards of Men and Women in the Raise the Red...
Throughout time, women have often been regarded as the inferior gender. In
China, women have had to go through dire circumstances in order to look good in
the public eye. From foot binding to becoming concubines in a prison like house,
women have been through hell in order to please their men. There are a series of
double standards and contradictions to how men and women are treated, and this is
shown in both Lu Xun and Qiu Jun s essays as well as in the film set in 1920s China,
Raise the Red Lantern. Set the scene: it is China during the 1920s and women do not
have a voice. Zoom in to a womanwalking into a house that looks like a gray prison
zone. This is her new home. She is the Master s fourth wife, and her name is
Songlian. Raise... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lu Xun s essay, My Views on Chastity , was written in 1918, and speaks on how the
double standard for women truly existed. Lu Xun was an author ahead of his time,
for this is not how the men in old China were speaking. Lu Xun states, In short,
when a woman s husband dies she should remain single or die. If she meets a
ravisher she should also die. When such women are praised, it shows that society is
morally sound and there is still hope for China. That is the gist of the matter (Lu 2).
Just as how Lu Xun shows China s dependence on the chastity of women, Raise the
Red Lantern does as well.
The women are subjected to the ideas of how men believed the perfect woman
should be: pure. The third wife shows how women in China were supposed to be
pure and devoted to only their husbands. After having an affair with the doctor, the
third wife was to be hanged because of the family s old customs and traditions. Even
though the Master thought fondly of her (he often chose to stay the night with her),
it was not enough to save her from being exiled. This creates a double standard.
Although the Master can sleep with a different wife every night, the second that it is
known that the third wife has strayed, she is immediately hanged for her disloyalty.
This double standard this is placed on women is portrayed through the entire movie.
Songlian was an educated woman; there was a moment in the film when she wished
to play her flute, and, upon finding it missing, she
Corset Research Paper
Gertrude, an 18 year old Victorian woman, stood in the corner of the room, face
creased in pain as her maid Bertha bent over her, pulling her strings tighter and tighter.
Harder, Bertha, harder. I have to look as small as possible for the ball tonight.
Bertha grunted, and with one almighty tug, finished doing up the corset. Her mistress
s waist was now looking as small as it could possible look.
Corsets. What are they?
Corsets are a stiff garment worn by women (and occasionally men) in the Victorian
times, designed to create the much desired hourglass figure of the time. They were
made of whale baleen, or sometimes strips of steel with laces, usually tightened by
maids. Unfortunately, corsets are now becoming more and more popular, when they
really belong in the illustrations of our history books. ... Show more content on

What they don t see, however, is all the damage happening inside. Corsets can
restrict breathing, bruise and even force inner organs out of alignment. They also
compress the stomach and lungs, and can deform the bodies of growing teenagers
as it was frowned upon for girls at the age of 14 and up to not be wearing full corsets.
And the pain. The laces were always tightened to the point where one could hardly
breath...moving and eating would have surely been a problem. Which is kinda
weird, given corsets were designed for social reasons.
Why?
Men were always impressed by the tiny waists of these women; having a small
waist gave you a better chance at a wealthy or important husband. If you wore a
corset, you were considered to be at a higher standard than those who didn t. Women
who ate a lot, and therefore had bigger middles were less appealing to men. This was
the Victorian logic, and the reasoning behind this painful
Losing a Loved One in Shoeless Joe Jackson by W.D....
Sometimes the biggest tragedy in someone s life is loosing a loved one. The
tragedy of this event can be amplified if you re last words are bad or if there is
something you forgot to tell them or meant to tell them. There are many book s that

dead father and is willing to put his reputation and financial security at risk for the
opportunity to reconnect with his father as well as put his sanity up for question.

voices tell him to do he travels across the US to pursue a man he has never met
before, kidnap him and then take him to a baseball game. He will do all of this
because he hopes that it will lead to his father coming to play baseball. This is one
of the most questionable things he does and it puts him in serious risk of
absolutely ruining his life and reputation by being sent to jail for kidnapping. This
shows just how far Ray is willing to go to reconnect with his father. A third
example of Ray Putting his reputation on the line is when ray decides to spend a
large amount of money on something he does not really need like a tractor even
tho he may not be able to pay his bills. this is stated when Ray says to Eddie. page
195 Eddie Still Carps About the $4000 I spent on the tractor this quot shows us
that he is discussing the 4000 dollars he spent on this tractor with one of his
neighbors and his neighbor apologizing for selling it to him when he kinda knew
he could not afford making the decision look like a stupid one to all of his
neighbors. This shows that he is no way trying to impress anyone which will cause
him to lose his respect. So in these quotes you can see how important this is to him
and that he is very desperately trying to reconnect with his father and his reputation is
less important.
Ray Kinsella does many things in the attempt to
The Pros And Cons Of Cable
By end of 2017, over 15.4 million people in the US will cut their cable. Who can
blame them? Cable hasn t evolved in last 80 years and cost of keeping cable is
getting expensive every year. Nevertheless, many people are still paying for cable,
when we have streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon. Streaming
services are a better alternative to cable because they are cost effective, more
accessible, more convenient, customizable, smarter and they are no commercials.
Streaming services cost me about $12 a month including taxes and other fees. In
contrast, it cost me approximately $130 per month excluding taxes and other fees.
Cable is not getting cheaper any time soon. in this article Yes, Netflix and Hulu Are
Starting to Kill Cable Stenovec states The average cable TV bill, not including fees,
promotion or taxes, has increased by whopping a 97 percent over the past 14 years,
according to the media research firm SNL Kagan. That bill could reach whopping
$200 per month by 2020, one study found. Even after paying hundreds of dollars per
month, consumers can only watch TV in living room and if they want cable service
in other rooms, it will cost them additional money. On the other hand, consumers only
need internet to stream content from their favorite streaming site. Also, streaming
services are available on smartphones, smart TVs, computers, iPads, tablets and
gaming consoles. Which means consumers can stream content anywhere. In addition,
consumers can download TV
Humanitarian Intervention At The 2005 World Summit
The principle of humanitarian intervention and the responsibility to protect is rooted
in the belief that ought to fulfill certain standards of protection for its own citizens.
When that standard is not met or the government itself poses a threat to its own
people, foreign nations have a right and obligation to protect those citizens from
crimes against humanity. This idea arose in the 1990s (which would later be known
as the decade of humanitarian intervention) when the US was leading several
humanitarian interventions around the globe, many of which were successful. This
principle was solidified into a commitment by all UN member states at the 2005
World Summit. Though there have been many successful interventions rooted in the
belief of a responsibility to protect, the overall idea of RtoP itself is not without flaws.
Several problems surrounding the basis of humanitarian interventionand RtoP were
highlighted with the US and NATO led intervention in Libya. The first major issue
with humanitarian intervention is determining if it s justified on the basis that the
government is actually guilty of the crimes it s alleged of committing. The premise
that Gaddafi initiated the violence and attacked peaceful protesters analogous to
those in Tunisia and Egypt was false. Furthermore, it was indeed the armed rebels that
initiated the conflict and turned the uprisings to violence. It was then falsely reported
that the Libyan government responded with lethal force, when in fact
Language And Development Of Language, Experience,...
Language plays a significant role in the process of transmitting knowledge and
culture among
mankind. Everyone learns a language at the early stages of life. From birth to seven
years, a
tremendous development of language skills is seen in a child. The essay states the
various
developmental phases of phonetics, morphology, semantics and syntax in a child. The
behaviourist
and cognitive theories states that nature and nurture plays a vital role in this process.
The essay also
throws light on the importance of culture, experience, maturation and readiness with
the aid of
theories laid by Lev Vygotsky and Jean Piaget.
Language is explained as the communication among human beings. Human
communication can be

From this stage a child even begins to grasp the
meaning of short phrases such as #39;give me #39;, do not touch #39; and the like.
In the next phase of language
development, the child articulates words. The child picks up simple words from its
surroundings
and that which may be taught him. He associates the words with its meaning (Kuhl et
al., 2016).
The development of semantic skills take place here. In the later phase, sentence
formation begins. In
the beginning, grammar and the conventional way of sentence structure is lacked.
From here
commences the syntactic development in an individual. Through experiences and
expressions, the
child unknowingly adapts to the accepted grammar and conventional sentence
construction rules of
its language ((Bloom, 1993). By the age of four a child speaks and understands his
language clearly.
A child is inspired by surroundings to develop its language skills. He or she imitates
and reacts to
the sounds around them. B. F. Skinner, one of the pioneers of behaviourism,
emphasizes the role of
environment in language development (Sommerville, 2006). He argues that a child
learns words by
associating it with meanings. The word #39;cat #39; brings the idea of that particular
animal in the child #39;s
mind. Children imitate words and sentences used by parents and elders. According to
him, children
learn language on the basis of reinforcement principles. Adults surrounding them,

and siblings, correct and

The principles used in this design include figure/ground relationship, asymmetrical
contrast and repetition. Out of all these principles, contrast and repetition stands out
most. In this work, there is contrast and repetition in colors. Color changed as it has
moved one triangle to another. In addition, rhythm and repetition played important
part in this design because the geometric shapes repeated more than once.
Furthermore, there is also contrast in the size of the type and triangles. For

The composition makes the design successful and helps viewers to understand the

Compare and Contrast Pope Francis vs. Pope Benedict XVI
Essay
I would like to compare/contrast Pope Francis vs. Pope Benedict XVI. During his
first year in office, Pope Francis has become one of the world s greatest social
innovators. Many have celebrated Pope Francis as a spiritual leader, diplomat, and a
politician. Pope Francis is a leader to start something new by launching a global
campaign against hunger. Using social media, such as YouTube, Pope
Francis sent his
message out to elect a day, December 10th, for a world wide rally. Additionally,
Pope Francis is known for sending out tweets @Pontifex. By the use of social media,
the Pope has captured attention all across the globe. Take for instance the time Pope

Sometimes the things that have been forgotten can be viewed as new by reminding
us of what is important (Watson, 2013). Pope Francis actions reflect a social
innovator and some may call intrapreneur (Dearing, 2014). The definition of
intrapreneur is a person within a large corporation who takes direct responsibility for
turning an idea into a profitable finished product through assertive risk taking and
innovation (Pinchot, 2010).
Pope Benedict business goals
As of January 20, 2013 Pope Benedict has 12,739 followers on Twitter.
In his 2009 encyclical, Pope Benedict XVI conveys issue about the international
economic system and its overemphasis on benefit at the price of individual and group
needs. Without question, one of the biggest threats for companies is that they are
almost specifically responsible to their traders, thereby restricting their public value.
The pope s solution to this situation is not only government control of companies, but
the development of new business designs where human and group results are
regarded an integral aspect of the main point here. In many ways, he explains
substitute companies that are aspect of the quickly growing solidarity economic
system.
Brand Effectiveness
Pope Francis was encountered with a church experiencing loss of client involvement,
reduction in attendance, and in some marketplaces adverse business development.

Reasons For The Bureau Of Council Of Congress At Valley...
From late 1777 to 1778, General George Washington led the Continental Army
through Winter at Valley Forge. Once this season was over, the remaining men
were faced with a tough decision: to reenlist or not to reenlist. Although there were
many reasons to reenlist, I would not have reenlisted in the Continental Army due
to the lack of supplies, bitter weather, and poor shelters at Valley Forge. With
several thousand soldiers to feed and provide for, supplies ran out quickly. In the
Diary of Dr. Albigence Waldo, a Connecticut surgeon, 1777 (Document C), Waldo
records that by December 21st, the army had already run out of meat. Washington
s army arrived to Valley Forge in December, so it took them less than a month to
exhaust their main food source. Even though this was unanticipated, it was also
very dangerous and caused many to die of starvation. Winters in Pennsylvania can
be unfavorable, but can easily turn deadly if you are not equipped with the
necessary supplies. In the Engraving of a painting by William Henry Powell,
Committee of Congress at Valley Forge, National Archives, 1866 (Document B),
Powell depicts Valley forge as a snowy forest with men dressed in ripped, thin, and
tattered clothes. The Continental soldiers had very few supplies, as most had no
more but one uniform. By this time, most of their garments were either ragged or...

Our Son Swears Of Water In His Body Naomi Shihab Nye
Analysis
Nothing Can break the bond a family has. Nothing . There may be hard times
within a family ,but in the end, family is always their. In the poem, Our Son
Swears He Has 102 Gallons of Water in His Body by Naomi Shihab Nye, portrays a
family that argues over something as miniscule as how much water is your body, but
can easily reminisce on good moments from the past. Within this familytheir is a
bond that can not be broken, no matter what happens. The bond that they have goes
from being hostile to very loving. An argument can be caused from many things,
things that seem little to one person, but seem major to another. Arguments are
precipitated by the simplest things, and can cause families to be blinded from the
truth. Nye writes, [W]restle his parents/ who defy what he insists. (Nye line 2 3).
The parents double what their son tells them, and become agitated by the idea. By
just saying something without any evidence to corroborate the claim. Without any

someone who doesn t truly understand, tend to be reject the whole idea. Even if we
try to explain what is going on, people tend to not understand. In the poem, the son

Amasis Treating Dionysus
In The Amasis Painter and his world: vase painting in sixth century B.C. Athens,
Dietrich Von Bothmer argues that Dionysos is one of the most used gods that the
Amasis Painter painted . He follows this argument with bringing up that the Amasis
Painter painted Dionysus more than 20 times. The 20 paintings prove that the Amasis
Painter has some connection with Dionysus. With this said, this paper explores why
the Amasis Painter paints Dionysus, examples of these paintings, and details of the
paintings.
Our journey begins when the Amasis Painter starts painting at the end of the sixth
century. The Amasis Painter paints on small and large vessels. He starts with attic
black figure vase painting that was first produced in Corinth around 700 B.C. Attic
black figure vase painting depicts animals and human silhouette figures in a
naturalistic detail. Additionally, attic black figure vases have vessel borders and
edges that are decorated with floral, lotus, and palmette designs. The Amasis Painter
includes these details to every vase and sometimes adds white to his paintings.
The Amasis Painter paints two scenes that involve Dionysus on one panel amphora

The first thing I notice that both the figures are made out of ceramic. In Figure 3,
Dionysus is in the middle and the four youths are around him. The panel amphora
has all dark colors, but Dionysus clothes are white just like both figures before.
The Amasis Painter could have given him a different color outfit to make him
stand out more since the youths clothes are very similar to his. Dionysus is
holding a drinking horn in his left hand, and wearing a long chiton and a mantle
draped over his shoulders and arms. He is also wearing an ivy wreath on his head.
The man Dionysus is looking at has a spear and both dogs have a collar, but no leash.
These very small things show that the Amasis Painter pays attention to

In 1859, when Manhattan still had many farms, near the Battery on the island s

its name, becoming in 1870 The Great Atlantic Pacific Tea Company, which in 1912

By 1920, there were 4,500 such stores; by 1930, 15,000. In 1936, in Braddock,
Pennsylvania, A P opened a supermarket. By the 1950s, A P was, briefly, what
Walmart now is, the nation s largest retailer, with a 75 percent share of America s

Neil Irwin of The New York Times writes of Amazon: The online retailer is on a
collision course with Walmart to try to be the predominant seller of pretty much
everything you buy. Each one is trying to become more like the other Walmart by
investing heavily in technology, Amazon by opening physical bookstores and now
buying physical supermarkets. Something similar, says Irwin, is happening in nearly
every major industry, benefiting the biggest and best run organizations, to the
detriment of upstarts and second fiddle players.
In the accelerated churning of today s capitalism, changing tastes and expanding
choices destroy some jobs and create others, with net gains in price and quality. But
disruption is never restful, and America now faces a decision unique in its history:
Is it tired tired of the turmoil of creative destruction? If so, it had better be ready to
do without creativity. And ready to stop being what it has always been: restless.
Americans just now are being plied with promises that the political class can, and is
eager to, protect them from the need to make strenuous exertions to provide for
themselves in an increasingly competitive world. If the nation really is ready to sag

This article is about a teacher and writer turned economist Milton Friedman. He
advocated free market capitalism as part of his economic theory. His positive
economics methodology and simple models made it very easy for the prediction of
economic happenings in the future. His libertarian philosophy and his proposals got
him in to many controversies, but also much recognition. He served as a professor
for over 30 years and due to his efforts in his field and enhancing the utility of each
individual, he has been rewarded handsomely.
Much his work looked like he was the opponent of the Keynesian function.
However, they both had very similar same view with a different approach. Friedman
s view affected many US corporations and the economy of the US and his ideals
resonate with the way in which the market is right now. His views were for the
completely free market where there was no government, other authorities or price
setting monopolies influencing the market and its growth. He also viewed the
economy in the long term instead of in the short term as Keynesian

(Lijian Han et.al., 2015) According to the analysis of the driving factors, the
population grew fast, and energy consumption and the number of vehicles increased
rapidly (Ju Zhang et.al., 2010), these factors add together can make the air quality
worse than any one of them separately can. Firstly, it has been an undoubted truth
that more and more people originally lived in rural has been moved to core urban of
Beijing since there are more opportunities in there. Therefore, the huge explosion of
urban population with more energy release and more CO2 exhalation is seen as an
inevitably primary factor causing the bad air quality. What s more, as the population

Secret Service Agent Training Programs
The United States Secret Service started in 1865. At first the Secret Service goal
was to combat the counterfeiting currency. The duties of the Secret Service agent
expanded after the assassination of President William McKinley in 1901 at
Buffalo, New York. Everyone knows that the Secret Service agents will take a
bullet for the President, but what they may not know is that Secret Service agents
are just as prepared to take a bullet for everyone under their care. The Secret Service
agents are charged with tasks of protecting the President, Vice President, and both of
their immediate families that are selected by the President or Vice President. The

In 1988, President Bill Clinton established National Security Event Procedures to
help federal agencies prevent terrorist attacks on such events as the Super Bowl or
the Academy Awards. In the aftermath of the 9/11, President George W. Bush
reorganized the procedures, placing the Secret Service in charge of NSSE Security
and the FBI in charge of intelligence and counterterrorism. The Secret Service gave
birth to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). When the Department of Justice
needed to conduct investigations at a national level, it borrowed agents from the
Secret Service, who were both dedicated and highly trained. The problem was that
Secret Service agents did not report to the attorney general but to their own director.
In 1908, the attorney general hired nine Secret Service agents and commissioned
them as Special Agents of the Justice Department. These special agents would be the
heart of the Bureau of Investigation, later becoming the Federal Bureau of
Social Class System
Social class system has survived in the UK due to its flexibility, it has never been
swept away (James, 2009). The most common classification of the social hierarchy
is the division between upper, middle, and lower classes. In the UK, there are some
different social grade classifications. The National Readership Survey (NRS) and
the National Statistics Socio economic classification (NS SEC) provided two similar
classifications based on occupation. In 2013, a survey of social classin UK was
published, results of which showed seven new classes: Elite, Established middle class
, Technical middle class, New affluent workers, Traditional working class, Emergent
service sector, Precariat (Savage et al., 2013). There are many determiners which can
be used to judge which class people belong to. In this essay, wealth and education are

Mike and Peter (2013) suggests the upper class largely consists of wealthy families.
According to Rowlingson (2012), the distribution of wealth in Britain is highly
unequal, with the top 10% owning 100 times more than the bottom 10%. In addition,
he points out that wealth differences between different occupational social classes can
be very large. For example, the median total wealth for households in routine
occupations was ВЈ74,000 in 2010, however, it was more than ВЈ450,000 for those in
the top two occupational categories.
Also, according to the survey of social class in UK in 2013 mentioned above, in the
top class called the elite, people have more than ВЈ140,000 in the bank, but in the
lowest class which is called the precariat , people can only earn ВЈ8,000 after tax and
have savings of just ВЈ700 (Smith, 2013). All these data and numbers indicate the
wealth inequality in UK and the wealth gap between the classes, which means that
wealth is an essential condition if you are in the upper
Poem In The Poisonwood Bible By Barbara Kingsolver
Poisonwood Bible
In which way is sympathy measured? Do we consciously decide who we evoke
pity for? Or is it subconscious in which once emphasizes with another being. Be
Careful. Later on you ll have to decide what sympathy they deserve (1). Barbara
Kingsolver begins the novel The Poisonwood Bible by warning the reader to be
weary of the sympathy the Price family warrants. The opening of a novel is a
handshake, the author s first impression on us as a reader, and in the opening lines
of Poisonwood Bible Kingsolver is quick to grasp the reader s attention. The first
interaction is loaded with foreshadowing, symbolism and a dark, brooding tone.
Quite similarly the ending of a novel is the author s goodbye, and provides the
reader closure, or lack thereof within a novel. Kingsolver escorts the reader out of
the life of the Price family with closure and reassuring. Ruth May echo s Orleanna in
the beginning to leave the reader with erie closure.
Kingsolver begins the novel with intense, vivid imagery, allowing the reader to fully
engulfed in the environment, questioning where such a place exists. Kingsolver s use
of magical realism intertwines reality with fiction as she constructs the setting of the
wild Congo. Every space is filled with life: delicate, poisonous frogs war painted
like skeletons, clutched in copulation, secreting their precious eggs onto dripping
leaves (1). Rich literature is woven into every sentence, loaded with foreshadowing
and symbolism that the reader can only truly comprehend when the novel is over.
The idiosyncratic character of the first opening pages continued to draw the reader
back. Every time the opening is read again it had a different meaning depending on
where the reader is in the book, and what connections have been are made.
The closing of Poisonwood Bible recapitulates all that has happened throughout the
eyes of no other than Ruth May, watching from the trees. She leaves the reader and
he family with peace, she is not angry, she is not upset, she is content. Being dead is
not worse than being alive (538). Ruth May s insightful voice echoes that of her
mothers in the beginning. Ruth May has matured, not only in her diction but her
purpose has to morphed into
The Queen Of Spades Alexander Pushkin Analysis
The human mind proves itself extremely turbulent and intricate in its functionality.
Before modern medicine understood it to the extent that it does in the present day,
ideas of insanity and madness were speculated by the masses. Even today, in an era
that has become so progressive in medical studies and knowledge, the topic still
remains ambiguous. In the nineteenth century, there was a great deal of
misunderstanding when it came to insanity, with this curiosity came artistic
expression. As seen in the 1834 work of Alexander Pushkin, The Queen of Spades,
the journey to this supposed madness is explored and traced through literal phrasing
as well as contextual evidence. The tale faults the protagonist s, Hermann s, very
human vices of rage... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such a claim is supplemented with the claim that the gun was not loaded, making his
innocence highly plausible. At face value, he seems to have logically thought out a
means by which to acquire his information; this is contradicted upon further
inspection and the idea that he may have already lost his battle to maintaining his
sanity. His plan to enter the cupboard and wait for the countess is so calculated and
drawn out by Pushkin it is hard to believe his decision to draw a firearm on the old
woman be undeserving of an introduction of a similar nature. Its abrupt and sudden
appearance almost mirrors the lack of structure present in his mind. There is no
indication that the gun was, in fact, empty of bullets other than the word of a man
that is later committed. As the theme of what appears to be is not always so is
prevalent throughout the tale, there is fair reason to believe that his rage over took
his sensibility, much as his desire had done, and drove him to his actions. Was it not
for the sudden death of The Countess, there is no concrete indication that he would
not use the weapon on

Primates Characteristics
Primates are the mostly seen as adapted to the life in the forests full of trees, their
behavioral and anatomical characteristics are very unique and found usually among
the mammals. Basically the anthropologists have defined primates on the basis of
three characteristics which includes behavioral, adaptive and evolutionary. The
ability to live in the trees puts them in the list of arboreal adaptation, they mostly
climb in the trees with the help of their body structure which involves limbs and the
trunk. Most primates have opposable qualities like opposable thumb and big toes.

The Central Nervous System For Spinal Cord Injuries
Introduction:
The central nervous system is what connects the brain to the muscles of the body.
When a patient has an injury to the spinal cord, movements in certain parts of the
body will be affected based on the location of the injury. If the injury affects hand
motion then many day to day tasks are affected. This literature review seeks to
understand how an injury to the spinal cord impacts movement, and what has been
done so far to help those affected by spinal cord injuries.
Methods:
The information in this literature review was collected from an expert interview
and the search databases Science Direct, PubMed, and Google Scholar. The expert
for the expert interview was selected based on experience with designing prosthetics
for individuals that had lost their hand and potentially part of their arm (Birdwell,
2016). The databases were searched using keywords spinal cord injury , hand
movement , and fine motor movement . In PubMed the selection was also narrowed
down by selecting only studies done on humans. New terminology was searched
through science direct due to the built in function that allows for key words from the
article to be selected for further information from multiple books or journals.
Results:
How a healthy body transmits signals:
Precision hand motions are controlled by the motor cortex (M1) and the corticospinal
system. (Perez, 2015). The corticospinal system is also known as the pyramidal
tracts. It is the upper motor neurons that go to the

  • 2. What Was The Expansion Of Westward Expansion During the 1800s, the United States institutionalized the concept of expansionism throughout its states. This long term event is known as the westward expansion, a time when the United States government deemed it necessary to increase the agricultural use of land, as well as to create a transcontinental railroad that connected Eastern states with Western states. This, however exceedingly great, resulted in the systematic destruction of Native American land, practices, and beliefs. Decimation of these things was generated through the policies implemented by the United States, as the policies attempted to assimilate Native Americans. Native Americans were viewed as an obstacle for the construction, as well as the expansion of the west, thus the United States devised policies that would ultimately set forth the dismantling of Native American territories. First and foremost, the Dawes Act, enacted in 1887, advocated for the separation and disjointing of Native American territories, in favor of putting the Natives on reservations. In the act, it proclaims that ...where any tribe or band of Indians have been, or shall hereafter be, located [placed] upon any reservation created for their use... (Dawes Act). Illustrating that a policy, implemented by the United States, specifically targeted Native Americans land by fractionalizing their territories into smaller, more controllable areas known as reservations. Similarly, the Indian Removal Act of 1830 suggested the literal
  • 3. From Suffering To Overcoming By John Walsh From Suffering to Overcoming Imagine taking your young child with you to run errands. You race into Target and then are delayed as you search for the one item you need. In that one moment, your child walks off to find the toy section. You begin to search around you and then quickly become frantic. Your mind takes you places you have always feared. What if someone has taken my baby? This scene and other similar to it are far too familiar in our world. An estimated 797,000 children are reported missing in one year, however, only approximately 100 of them are stereotypical kidnappings (Martindale 6). Many times children that are reported missing have either run away or cannot be found for a few hours. Only a handful are taken for ransom and against their own will. The stereotypical kidnapping, which is very rare, involves abduction by a stranger or slight acquaintance who detains the child overnight, transports him or her at least 50 miles, holds the child for ransom or intends to keep him permanently, or kills the child (Martindale 6). John Walsh, host of America s Most Wanted, criminal investigator, and loving father of Adam Walsh has placed his mark on a world full of corruption and dangerous crimes. After the murder of his son, John Walsh used this tragic event as a motivation and inspiration to become passionate for the safety of others. He has been able to bring some safety to a world that is full of treacherous and life threatening people, save many lives, and
  • 4. Descriptive Essay About State Park Brook! You will never guess what I saw at the state park in Arkansas with my family. I want to hear all about it, walk me through it step by step and don t leave any detail out. OK, I will start with the drive to the park. The road is secluded, trees encompass you as you drive. The GPS directs that it is only a few more miles, but in your mind, you know you need to turn around. Then the trees open up to a little wooden cabin just off the road. After 6 hours in the vehicle, you bust open the door, and as your legs swing out the door, you can feel a stretch throughout your entire body. Your body was stiff but now is surrounded by the fresh air. The little cabin is actually a camp store, and in it you find the assistance and the map needed to tackle the upcoming adventure. The road winds a few more miles till you near the lodge. Buckled down with water, a camera, and wearing the proper shoes you walk toward the trail. Something catches your eye, and with a turn of your head, there it is. The lodge overlooks the most incredible view, one that could only have been created by God. The lookout reveals mountains of trees with an unforeseeable future. After admiring the beauty, the trail calls your name. It starts out wide and covered with gravel, without a moment to think the terrain changes. You start to walk down the mountain, the gravel turned to dirt and with the help from the dew and rain it was mud, and the mountain grew a little steeper with every breath. Later, you

There are other MIM services, such as Microsoft s mobile MSN, Pica, China Unicom s UMS, China Netcom s MXIM, etc. For an MNO, deploying MIM can consolidate a firm s position in the mobile commerce value chain with increasing ARPU (average revenue per user). For an IM service provider, developing MIM undoubtedly expands the channels of desktop IM. In such a competitive MIM market, MIM service providers are all making efforts to attract more users and gain more market shares. Thus, the ability to provide a high degree of customer satisfaction services is crucial to providers in differentiating themselves from their competitors. Specifically, in increasingly competitive markets, building strong relationships with customers, that is, developing the loyalty of consumers is seen as the key factor in winning market share and developing a sustainable competitive advantage (Luarn Lin, 2003; Nasir, 2005). It was made in many different shapes and sizes. Some pieces of pottery had unique pictures and designs on them. The pictures and designs expressed different types of things that went on in the daily lives of ancient Greeks. Music and entertainment, religious beliefs, death and burial traditions are a few aspects of Greek life that are pictured on many different types of ancient Greek pottery. The women s role was to wash and wrap the dead bodies in cloth. They also decorated them with flowers and herbs. The men dug the area in which the body was to be buried. On this first piece of pottery, it looks like people are walking as if they were in a funeral procession. Women are surrounding the dead person and men are following the women. The pottery has a top that looks like a funnel which comes down and narrows out into a long neck. At the bottom of the long neck it starts to get wider and forms a shape that looks like a vase. The vase sits on a very small pedestal. On the sides of the narrow neck there are two handles that look like very long and thin wings. On the neck of the pot, there is one women standing there. The design above her head looks like a wreath. She looks like she is crying over a body. She is on top of everything that is on the pottery which leads me to conclude that she is an important part of this piece. The dead person may have been her son or husband. At the bottom of the pottery there is a design that looks like black spikes. The pot is entirely black with the picture in gold paint. This pot was called a Loutrophoros. It was used for holding water to wash the dead body. After the body was buried, the Greeks put offerings on the graves of the people who have passed away. This next

  • 9. Linda Albert s Cooperative Discipline As a teacher I plan to base my classroom management plan on Linda Albert s Cooperative Discipline. I will also incorporate aspects of Positive Discipline in my classroom management plan. I chose Cooperative Discipline as the foundation of my personal management plan because I agree with the model that Linda Albert has created. I believe that students should be able to start making their own decisions in middle schoolinstead of constantly being put into a mold that some educators believe is necessary in order to teach. Rather than constantly disciplining my students instead I will use this style to manage them. I agree with this approach because research has shown us that middle school is where students really begin to find their sense of self. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To me this is one of the most important things we can do for our students as middle school is a time when these children are full of self doubt and insecurities about their own worth. If we can bolster students feeling of worth it will help relieve stress and increase student productivity. I hope that the school I work with allows for teachers to use their own form of classroom management instead of having a blanket style throughout the school. I believe a blanket style could work well, but it would require everyone to be on the same page. Getting thirty or so teachers all from different backgrounds on the same page is going to be difficult. I wouldn t be completely against a blanket approach so long as I could see evidence that it worked well. For my class I want the students to feel a certain amount of control is theirs. To do this I want to allow them to create the rules for the classroom as well as the consequences for breaking those rules. Both of these activities will be teacher guided so that I can help make sure they are fair. I will also assign them tasks that deal with routine in the classroom such as taking up papers or helping to pass out things. This will allow them to feel ownership of their environment. I want them to feel that they can approach me to ask questions about anything the classroom including rules and

Regeneration And Central Nervous System The above process to neuronal regeneration takes place both in the peripheral and central nervous system however, a number of factors are present in the CNS for example Spinal cord injury causes a rapid stop of regeneration of damaged axons. The site of a spinal cord injury as a result of the phenomena occur eventually to produce a cavity filled with liquid syringomyelic CSF and covered with a layer of glial scar. This scar and cavity form a loss of continuity of long nerve pathways of the spinal cord and prevent the occurrence of neuronal regeneration process. Work on cellular therapies allowed researchers to isolate and implement of clinical transplantation experiments olfactory ensheathing glia (OGC). This is a population of cells with unique properties to stimulate the regeneration of CNS axons opening the locking the glial scar, screening of regenerating axons and produce around casing. OGC activity may however be very limited in the case of spinal cord tissue defects dividing the axon ends. To solve the problem of syringomyelic cavity and loss of continuity of spinal cord tissue caused further studies of biomaterials. The aim is to create an artificial extracellular matrix that is likely to constitute a bridge for regenerating spinal cord fibers. Such an implant would stimulate neuronal regeneration process by establishing a physical connection between the ends of the spinal cord and could increase the efficiency of the use of OGC. Studies on the use of

  • 12. Unemployment In Australia Essay Unemployment: As can be seen in Fig 3 below, the unemployment rate in Australia has recently dropped below 5.8%, which is the lowest it has been for over 20 months. This is despite the economy struggling over the previous 12 months due to a fall in investment in the mining industry. This has led to the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) reducing interest rates on two occasions in the past 12 months to encourage the non mining sectors of the economy to fill this void and invest in resources, but some businesses are still reluctant to spend money. NAB economist Tapas Strickland said he expected strong jobs growth to continue into 2016, stating The forward indicators, such as jobs ads, suggest employment growth of 2% a year, and when you do the calculations, that implies 20,000 (jobs added) per month . According to a report by the Australian Bureau of statistics, consumer spending contributed to two thirds of GDP growth in the fourth quarter. • 15. A Fair System Of Taxation Since taxes have been collected in the United States, there has been substantial debate about what constitutes a truly fair system of taxation. After all, taxation without representation was the basis on which the Revolutionary War was fought against England; the new colonies were loathe to continue to accept a system in which they had to pay taxes that were dictated by a monarchy that appeared to have less and less interest in fairness. In fact, Great Britain had become completely engaged in finding ways to earn income based on taxing its colonies. This suggestion is viewed as an extremely fair response to the problems with the tax code, because it supports an equitable solution for all taxpayers, regardless of their income level. However, another proposal that has become popular completely eliminates the current progressive tax code as well as the idea of a flat tax. The Fair Tax is not a tax on income but instead would replace all existing income taxes including payroll taxes, with a single consumption tax (Erb.) Discussion about the flat tax versus the fair tax in comparison with the current progressive income tax highlights a wide perspective of views about the appropriate way for the government to collect revenue from its citizens. Supporters of all three configurations make sound arguments to justify continuing with the current system or adopting one of the two alternatives. The current system, the progressive income tax, is popular because it is essentially exactly what it sounds like, i.e., the tax rate that anyone pays rises, or progresses, as income increases. In fact, such a progressive income tax system can be created even when the rates remain flat through the use of personal exemptions, tax credits, and tax deductions which essentially change the tax rate that is in effect (Erb.) People tend to like progressive tax rates because they are a way of raising revenue by taxing people who have the

Early depictions of African American men and women were limited to demeaning stereotypical images of people of color. During the first decades of the 20th century, many films depicted idealized vision of life in the South. These films glorified the image of the Old South .African American characters, in keeping with the dominant stereotypes, were portrayed as incompetent, child like, hyper sexualized, and criminal. While I Fully Believe That It Is Important To Understand While I fully believe that it is important to understand what happens in the past, I believe that what we experience in the present is just as important. Throughout the semester this class, values and ethics, has helped me to understand not only the actions of myself, but the actions of those around me in the past as well. This class has taught me what it means to have values and morals, as well as how important it is to accept the values and morals of others. Throughout the semester, my values have not really been altered that much. I have however, accepted people s opinions that are way different from mine. I have heard numerous people talk about why they think like they do and where they get their morals from. There have been many times that the people that are in my group, or sit around me have said things that I do not agree with at all, but instead of arguing, I listened. While I did not agree with them, in some instances I agreed with their reasoning behind things, and I think that is important. In China, women have had to go through dire circumstances in order to look good in the public eye. From foot binding to becoming concubines in a prison like house, women have been through hell in order to please their men. There are a series of double standards and contradictions to how men and women are treated, and this is shown in both Lu Xun and Qiu Jun s essays as well as in the film set in 1920s China, Raise the Red Lantern. Lu Xun s essay, My Views on Chastity , was written in 1918, and speaks on how the double standard for women truly existed. Lu Xun was an author ahead of his time, for this is not how the men in old China were speaking. Lu Xun states, In short, when a woman s husband dies she should remain single or die. If she meets a ravisher she should also die. When such women are praised, it shows that society is morally sound and there is still hope for China. That is the gist of the matter (Lu 2). Just as how Lu Xun shows China s dependence on the chastity of women, Raise the Red Lantern does as well. The women are subjected to the ideas of how men believed the perfect woman should be: pure. The third wife shows how women in China were supposed to be pure and devoted to only their husbands. After having an affair with the doctor, the third wife was to be hanged because of the family s old customs and traditions. Even though the Master thought fondly of her (he often chose to stay the night with her), it was not enough to save her from being exiled. This creates a double standard. Although the Master can sleep with a different wife every night, the second that it is known that the third wife has strayed, she is immediately hanged for her disloyalty. This double standard this is placed on women is portrayed through the entire movie. Songlian was an educated woman; there was a moment in the film when she wished to play her flute, and, upon finding it missing, she

Harder, Bertha, harder. I have to look as small as possible for the ball tonight. Bertha grunted, and with one almighty tug, finished doing up the corset. Her mistress s waist was now looking as small as it could possible look. Corsets. What are they? Corsets are a stiff garment worn by women (and occasionally men) in the Victorian times, designed to create the much desired hourglass figure of the time. They were made of whale baleen, or sometimes strips of steel with laces, usually tightened by maids. Unfortunately, corsets are now becoming more and more popular, when they really belong in the illustrations of our history books. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They also compress the stomach and lungs, and can deform the bodies of growing teenagers as it was frowned upon for girls at the age of 14 and up to not be wearing full corsets. And the pain. The laces were always tightened to the point where one could hardly breath...moving and eating would have surely been a problem. Which is kinda weird, given corsets were designed for social reasons. Why? Men were always impressed by the tiny waists of these women; having a small waist gave you a better chance at a wealthy or important husband. If you wore a corset, you were considered to be at a higher standard than those who didn t. Women who ate a lot, and therefore had bigger middles were less appealing to men. This was the Victorian logic, and the reasoning behind this painful

He will do all of this because he hopes that it will lead to his father coming to play baseball. This is one of the most questionable things he does and it puts him in serious risk of absolutely ruining his life and reputation by being sent to jail for kidnapping. This shows just how far Ray is willing to go to reconnect with his father. A third example of Ray Putting his reputation on the line is when ray decides to spend a large amount of money on something he does not really need like a tractor even tho he may not be able to pay his bills. this is stated when Ray says to Eddie. page 195 Eddie Still Carps About the $4000 I spent on the tractor this quot shows us that he is discussing the 4000 dollars he spent on this tractor with one of his neighbors and his neighbor apologizing for selling it to him when he kinda knew he could not afford making the decision look like a stupid one to all of his neighbors. • 27. Humanitarian Intervention At The 2005 World Summit The principle of humanitarian intervention and the responsibility to protect is rooted in the belief that ought to fulfill certain standards of protection for its own citizens. When that standard is not met or the government itself poses a threat to its own people, foreign nations have a right and obligation to protect those citizens from crimes against humanity. This idea arose in the 1990s (which would later be known as the decade of humanitarian intervention) when the US was leading several humanitarian interventions around the globe, many of which were successful. This principle was solidified into a commitment by all UN member states at the 2005 World Summit. Though there have been many successful interventions rooted in the belief of a responsibility to protect, the overall idea of RtoP itself is not without flaws. Several problems surrounding the basis of humanitarian interventionand RtoP were highlighted with the US and NATO led intervention in Libya. The first major issue with humanitarian intervention is determining if it s justified on the basis that the government is actually guilty of the crimes it s alleged of committing. The premise that Gaddafi initiated the violence and attacked peaceful protesters analogous to those in Tunisia and Egypt was false. Furthermore, it was indeed the armed rebels that initiated the conflict and turned the uprisings to violence. It was then falsely reported that the Libyan government responded with lethal force, when in fact

Although there were many reasons to reenlist, I would not have reenlisted in the Continental Army due to the lack of supplies, bitter weather, and poor shelters at Valley Forge. Barbara Kingsolver begins the novel The Poisonwood Bible by warning the reader to be weary of the sympathy the Price family warrants. The opening of a novel is a handshake, the author s first impression on us as a reader, and in the opening lines of Poisonwood Bible Kingsolver is quick to grasp the reader s attention. When a patient has an injury to the spinal cord, movements in certain parts of the body will be affected based on the location of the injury. If the injury affects hand motion then many day to day tasks are affected. This literature review seeks to understand how an injury to the spinal cord impacts movement, and what has been done so far to help those affected by spinal cord injuries. Methods: The information in this literature review was collected from an expert interview and the search databases Science Direct, PubMed, and Google Scholar. The expert for the expert interview was selected based on experience with designing prosthetics for individuals that had lost their hand and potentially part of their arm (Birdwell, 2016). The databases were searched using keywords spinal cord injury , hand movement , and fine motor movement . In PubMed the selection was also narrowed down by selecting only studies done on humans. New terminology was searched through science direct due to the built in function that allows for key words from the article to be selected for further information from multiple books or journals.
