College Research Essay
Crafting a college research essay can be a daunting task that demands a considerable amount of
time, effort, and intellectual engagement. The difficulty lies not only in the extensive research
required but also in the ability to synthesize information coherently and present a well-structured
argument.
Firstly, one must navigate through a vast sea of academic sources, carefully selecting relevant
and credible materials to support the thesis. This process involves critical thinking and the ability
to discern the reliability of sources. Additionally, keeping abreast of current research on the
chosen topic adds another layer of complexity.
Moreover, the writing process itself can pose challenges. Articulating thoughts clearly,
constructing cohesive paragraphs, and ensuring a logical flow of ideas are essential components
of an effective essay. The need for proper citation and adherence to a specific citation style
further contributes to the intricacy of the task.
Balancing the depth of analysis with conciseness is another challenge. It's crucial to delve into
the nuances of the subject without becoming overly verbose. Striking the right balance requires a
keen awareness of the audience and an understanding of what information is essential for
supporting the thesis.
Editing and revising are integral stages that demand a critical eye. Ensuring that the essay is free
from grammatical errors, typos, and awkward phrasing is vital for a polished final product.
Revisiting and refining the argument, structure, and clarity of expression may entail multiple
iterations.
In conclusion, writing a college research essay is a multifaceted process that necessitates
proficiency in research, critical thinking, writing, and editing. The challenge lies not just in the
depth of understanding the topic but in effectively communicating that understanding to an
academic audience.
For those facing difficulties or time constraints, it's worth noting that assistance is available.

Adult Support Learning Essay
Steiner educators believe in a child initiated, adult supported learning technique
where the the child uses its imagination and the pace of learning is set by the chid
(Glazzard et al, 2010, p3). There is high parental involvement in the method (Pound,
2006 p7).
Reggio Emilia refers to educators as partners, nurtures, researchers and
guides(Edwards, Gandini Forman, 1998 p35). The curriculum is child led with focus
placed on children s strengths rather than weaknesses and the adult collaborates with
creations (Pound, 2006, p52 53). Parents, children, professional staff and the wider
community are all seen as partners in education (Edwards, Gandini Forman, 1998
p35).
Aistear recommends that learning varies from being adult led to child led with respect
given to the uniqueness of each child. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Glazzard et al., 2010, p4).
Aistear refers to assessment as an ongoing process of collecting, documenting ,
reflecting on, and using information to gain a complete picture of the children in
order to support and further their future learning (pg 72 Guidelines for good practice).
Assessment aids children s learning when the adult identifies their learning and
development requirements (NCCA (1), 2009, p.102). All three of the theorists
support the importance of assessment.
Conclusion
The author has compared the characteristics and features of a range of curricula and
has discussed how these curricula have influenced the development of Aistear the
Early Childhood Curriculum Framework in relation to the environment, interactions,
play, assessment and partnership with parents. From this the author can see that all
philosophies centre around education of the whole child . However, as highlighted,
there are a few areas in each theorist s method which would need to be developed
further in order to correspond with today s Aistear the Early Childhood Curriculum
Reclining Nude

Reclining Nude The artwork is called Reclining Nude by Jean Antoine Watteau and I
found this artwork in the Norton Simon Museum. I was captivated by the sensuality
and the delicacy in the painting. I first noticed in the painting was her robust ivory
figure contrasting with the dark chocolate background because I felt that these
contrasting colors evoked a sense of purity and light against the mysterious darkness.
She seems to have turned around and noticed something. Perhaps someone just
entered the room and surprised her or she could have been waiting for her lover. I
also noticed that in this painting, that there are only three objects: the bed, the girl,
and the dark ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The change in France s notion is reflected in the Reclining Nude. The woman is
more humanized with her lying comfortably than posing like a goddess in
stupendous fashion. Also, the details of her anatomy, such as the indent of fat
between her left breast and hip, give her a more realistic look as well. The Reclining
Nude carries the characteristics of the Rococo style and embodies the cultural shift of
France. No one knows for certain the true meaning behind Watteau s Reclining
Nude. There are theories that Reclining Nude has no meaning and is a simply a
copy of Watteau s other artwork, The Remedy. The Remedy shows the same
reclining nude woman who appears in the painting. But in addition, it includes a
maid with a syringe approaching her mistress to administer an enema, and also a
night table at the left and more of the bed at the bottom of the composition (Posner
386). Only difference is that in the Reclining Nude, the focal point is not the action
between the woman and her nurse, but just the woman. However, Watteau might
have intended for the painting to be an erotic artwork. Watteau might have
portrayed her as the ideal woman and to make love to this woman is as beautiful as
her. This type of work would have reflected the intellectual and social
libertinism...especially in France (Posner 387). Expressing eroticism such as this was
radical, but so was the culture and time period of
The Indian Independence Movement
The history of the Indian Independence Movement against the British in the 20th
Century was evidently influenced and motivated by the underlying differences and
perceptions of communal identities. The freedom struggle in essence was also an
assertion of the interests and aspirations of the diverse communities of the Indian
subcontinent. The Indian National Congressand the Muslim League were the two big
powers that sought to mobilize public sentiments in the quest for Independence.
While the Muslim League (formed in 1906), stood as a symbol of Islamic
nationalism, the INC on the other hand was seen as pro Hindu (with a strong
influence of radical groups like the Hindu Mahasabha).
Mohammad Ali Jinnah, initially a Congress nationalist, joined the Muslim League in
1913 in order to align the views of the two communities in their collective struggle
for freedom. The result was The Lucknow Pact which laid down the constitutional
framework of seat and power sharing arrangements for elections to the Provincial
Legislative Councils. Muslims were provided with separate electorates and one third
representation in the Central government. Congress that claimed to fight only for
secular goals and considered religion as a private matter of individual granted the
separate electorates for Muslim went against their very own ideologies. This lead to
the settlement of differences between the two parties and immediate goal of both the
parties through the pact called for greater autonomy as a
The Caste System In Ancient India
The world has seen many civilizations. One of the most prominent civilizations in
southern Asia was ancient India. Ancient India was well known for their caste
system. The caste system is believed to have been created around 1500 BCE. It
separated the people of ancient India into four groups that determined their
significance. The brahmins made up the highest caste with priests and religious
leaders. The second group was the kshatriyas and they were the kings and warriors.
Third were the vaishyas. They were made of traders, farmers, and other working
class people. Last was the shudras and they were laborers. A fifth group existed
separately from the caste system. These were the dalits which meant the
untouchables and they were thought of as inferior by the other castes. Under this
system some were powerful while others were weak and powerless. India s social
structure was built upon the caste system, which is still used today. The caste
system affected religion, government, and people in different ways. India s caste
system allowed their religion and their government to take root, and shaped their
social class. Hinduism was greatly influenced by the caste system. Hindu beliefs
state that someone s actions in one life will determine their placement in the caste
system during their next life. The caste system, in a way, made Hinduism very
important. Especially for those in lower castes. It allowed them a way out of their
harsh lives and that is why it appealed to them the
The Benefits of Being a Vegetarian
According to Dr. T. Colin Campbell, No chemical carcinogen is nearly so important
in causing human cancer as animal protein . There are nine categories of
vegetarianism which include many different diets such as vegan, raw food and
macrobiotic diets (ProQuest). The different categories of vegetarianism from
which you can choose depend on your body type and lifestyle (Preyss Pro). Not
being a vegetarian can lead to obesity, illness and harm to animals. These problems
can be solved by more vegetarian foods being served in public places. While
vegetarians live a healthy life, meateaters are increasing their chance of becoming
obese. David Graham interviewed Kathy Rayner, who says Good health is not a
coincidence, it s a choice. You have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A lot of people don t know that (Preyss Pro). The protein source for vegetarians
comes from chickpeas, beans, legumes, lentils, nuts and seeds (Hoy). Too much
protein can cause kidney stones, osteoporosis and sometimes heart disease and
some cancers (Graham). Being a vegetarian will only maintain a healthy amount of
protein, with no extra to worry about. Isaac Almeida states that It (meat) provides
nutrients for the body to survive, and it helps build muscle (Preyss Con).
Vegetarian lifestyle can lead to B12 deficiency (Preyss Con), which means that
vegetarians and vegans may have to take B12, calcium, vitamin D and zinc
supplements for wellness (Hoy). Meats have Vitamin E, iron, zinc and magnesium
in them (Preyss Con). According to Tim Holcomb Eating meat twice a week
should be a perfect amount for the average person s diet (Preyss Con). Thirty
percent of a meat eater s diet should be made up of proteins, lean red meat, poultry
and fish. Thirty percent should be made up of healthy fats such as nuts, oils and
avocados. And the last forty percent should be made up of carbs, fruits and
vegetables, nuts, seeds, and very few starches (Preyss Con). According to Avery
Johnson, vegetarians have less chance of dying from diabetes, kidney failure, and
they are nineteen percent less likely to die from heart disease than meat eaters. She
also states that vegetarians are also less

Compare And Contrast Proctor And Jeremiad
The jeremiad is that God will reward good behavior or he will punish those who do
not fear or conform to his wrath. Puritans believe in the jeremiad. Puritans were a
protestant religion that had a simple and religious life. They believed that hard work
was the key to getting into heaven and they were scared of hell. They had many
restrictions and rules so that they would not disobey Godand would be able to get
into heaven. Puritans believed that God could be cruel and angry with them if they
ever did anything bad, so they feared him. In Of Plymouth Plantation and from
Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, the two writers are very similar in their use
of jeremiad.
There was a proud and very profane young man, one of the seamen...he would
always be contemning the poor people in their sickness and cursing them daily with
grievous execrations; and did not let to tell them that he hoped to cast half of them
overboard before they came to their journey s end, and to make merry with what
they had; and if he were by any gently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion, jeremiad is comparable to karma. Karma is the belief that whatever
you do will come back around to you. For example, if one does a good deed, they
will receive something good in return. Or if one does something bad, they will
receive something bad in return. An example of jeremiad in my life (or karma),
occurred when I was working. One day a woman came in with her children and she
could not afford to buy her children popcorn. The children really wanted some and
you could tell how terrible the mother felt that she could not give her children any.
I then offered to buy the popcorn for them, and she graciously accepted. The next
day, I was out to eat with my family and someone anonymously payed for our entire
meal. This is an example of jeremiad because I did something good, or nice, and in
return I was rewarded with a nice
The Limitations Of Frye s Green World
What are the limitations of Frye s Green World model as applied to Twelfth Night
by William Shakespeare? Twelfth Night was thought to be written in 1600 1. The
play known for adhering to a genre of romantic comedy by utilising pathos
combined with humour is listed under comedies in the First Folio of 1623 with
another of Shakespeare s works As You Like It. Twelfth Night adheres to Frye s
theory to some extent. The old world, one of repression, is conveyed through the
puritanical beliefs of Malvolio; the green world is conveyed through the theories
of disguise and confusion; and a new world is established through the restoration
of order and the marriages in Act 5. However, the continuous adherence to the old
world through Malvolio and a lack of clear structure when transgressing the worlds
limits the extent of Frye s theory. The flexible structure is perhaps more indicative
of Berger s second world theory. My aim is to explore the limitations of the green
world within the play Twelfth Night. Music permeates Twelfth Night immediately
in Act 1 Scene 2 with Orsino s opening declaration of love If music be the food of
love, play on (lines 1 2), through this he is established and characterised as an
extravagant lover, indulging in his hyperbolic passion for a woman who does not
return his love. His language is full of romantic clichГ©s such as ...was I turn d into
a hart (line 21), this metaphor allows Shakespeare to not only intensify the
exploration of the genre of
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Geospatial Satellite
Imagery
Over the past decade, the ability of large financial institutions to accurately predict
changes in the price of financial securities by using advanced technology has
increased exponentially (Bloomberg). Specifically, the introduction of affordable
geospatial satellite imagery has enabled investment managers to estimate crop yields,
oil supply, and livestock quantities with low margins of error. This information is
used to inform trading decisions, which often result in large profits (Woyke). While
extremely useful, this technology is only available to a select number of institutions,
as they have signed exclusivity and pricing agreements with the technology firms
providing the data. These agreements prevent small investment funds and... Show

One salesperson from Planet Labs offered one million square miles of daily corn
imagery for a $300,000 per month subscription (McDonald). A second salesperson
from Descartes Labs offered all U.S. corn and soy imagery for $500,000 per month
(Smith). For a multi billion dollar or multi trillion dollar institution, this cost is
negligible when compared with the potential returns. However, smaller firms and
retail investors have been priced out of the market entirely according to Tian Nan
from Almitas Capital, a $150 million hedge fund in Southern California. The
salesperson from Descartes Labs told Nan that he was not authorized to sell data
any cheaper due to pricing agreements with their main client . Furthermore, he
disclosed that even if someone is willing to pay the market price for data, it would
be delayed 24 hours due to terms in the agreement. In most cases, after 24 hours, the
data is useless for trading purposes; it is simply too late to make a profitable decision.
Phone conversations with representatives from TellusLabs, Orbital Insight, and
Quandl revealed the same findings as Descartes Labs. Clearly, the larger institutions
have a distinct advantage and the power to block others from trading profitably in the
commodities markets. If only large institutions have access to superior information,
smaller

STRATEGIC PLANNING AND DISTRIBUTION NETWORK IN DISASTERS:
TRANSPORTATION, WAREHOUSING AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
Submitted to
Prof. Janki Andharia In the last few decades we have seen the emergence of the
supply chain as a critical competitive force in today s market. By understanding
supply chain and fostering appropriate ties between both customers and supplier
humanitarian agencies and government can realize significant benefits in the form of
reduced inventories, lower costs, enhanced responsiveness and improved strategic
focus in terms of design, execution and capital investments. The term was first coined
in 1982 by Keith Oliver, a consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton, during an interview
with Financial Times. Supply Chain Management is still evolving, although it is not
new. Consequently, it has largely not been theoretically grounded, it is a concept that
has been born of practice, grown through needs and changed in response to various
challenges, threats and opportunities. Supply chain nomenclature is still in
controversy whether it is supply chain, supply chain networks or value chain
networks? Melnyk et al. (2010) noted a transition from the strategically price driven
supply chain to the strategically value driven supply chain. Supply chain design is a
rich aspect of supply chain management that goes beyond issues of

an act or forbearance from taking action , for example a painters offer to paint
someone s house for $100 is probably conditioned on the homeowners promise to
pay upon completion while a homeowners offer to someone $100 to have his or her
house painted is probably conditioned upon the painters successfully performing
the job , In either case an offerees power of acceptance is created when the offeror
carries a present committed to enter a contract in certain and definite terms that are

generally continue until the ending of the time period specified by the offer or if
there is no time limit specified until a reasonable time has passed ,

Skinny Jeans In The 1950 s
Do you own any pairs of skinny jeans? Do you want to own skinny jeans? Can you
fit into skinny jeans? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you may
have a serious disorder from love of skinny jeans. Skinny jeans are a form fitting,
thigh hugging, narrow legged type of jeans. Now let s go back time, all the way back
to the 1950 s. The term skinny jeans was invented first in the 1800 s by Levi
Strauss. Skinny jeans were another term for a kind of jeans, like Levi s slim fit
jeans. Over 100 years later, the brand Levi the name taken from the real jean
inventor reinvented the skinny jeans in the 1950 s. After the reinvented jeans by
Levi, skinny jeans were really introduced to the world in old movies, usually old
Western movies. Actors like Roy Rogers, the Lone Ranger, Marilyn Monroe, and
Zorro wore them in their movies during the 50 s. Performers were also a part of the
skinny jeans history. People like Elvis Presley wore them during his concerts in the
1950 s.
Quick! Now let s get going to the 1960 s.
During the 60 s, Elvis was still going strong with the skinny jean trend. During this
decade, things in the jean industry were changing. Women started wearing them to
show off their curves, pushing gender roles.
Now we re fast forwarding to the 1970 s.

Power In The Prince And The Pauper
Power. Everybody wants it, few have it. But what does it mean to have power, that
is to say true power? What sacrifices must be made? What hard decisions would
need decided? Sadly, our current society doesn t respect power that much anymore,
not at all like it used to be. In the novel, power is much more respected. In that time,
if the King said something, it happened, no protests, no second thought. Nowadays,
apparently if you don t agree with a leader you don t have to recognize their use of
their power. Mark Twain s The Prince and the Pauper teaches about power and what
true power is. The chosen paragraph is important because it shows that as King, Tom
has tremendous power, even to condemn people to death. Take him away he hath

Increasing Government Surveillance
Is increasing government surveillance ethical in regards to exchanging consumer
privacy for public safety?
This question popped up immediately when I heard the prompt, as I m sure some
others have said too. Of course, it didn t come out right off the bat, but instead I
asked myself what would be an easy yet interesting topic to write about. Originally
I was only going to focus on recent events such as the FBI v. Apple case, but then I
noticed I can delve deeper into the subject with past events such as recent leaks from
whistleblowers and the growing concern of one s personal privacy. You can talk about
the NSA and post 9/11 U.S security measures for government surveillance and
various other things, it doesn t solely revolve around leaks and ... Show more content

Surveillance and the right to privacy have far reaching consequences and
implications. In fact, both involve even more topics such as encryption, hacking,
and leaks of sensitive information. Sure it is easy to conclude from the sources
included in this piece that surveillance does diminish personal privacy to a certain
extent, but it s better to deduce that more people should understand and be aware
of how serious of an issue this really is. There are people who seek to promote and
diminish surveillance and consumer s control of their own information and that
contributes to the complexity of this growing problem. The research done so far
only touches the surface of why it is important for people to learn about protecting
themselves from unwanted spying, yet it still needs to expand into explaining more
in depth the goals of the government agencies that encourage surveillance programs.
As of now, after reviewing all these sources, I think it is important to stress that this
issue is not simple. Moreover, is it worth it for an individual to sacrifice personal
liberties such as privacy for safety through increased surveillance? Consumer privacy
should not be sacrificed to ensure public safety since this would undermine the
personal liberties of millions of

Summary Of The Novel The Bungalow Mystery
The book The Bungalow Mystery is about a girl, Nancy Drew. Nancy is a detective
and loves solving mysteries. One day, Nancy and her friend Helen are on a boat ride,
and they come across a huge storm. Their boat sinks, and they almost drown when
someone named Laura Pendleton comes and rescues them. She then explains that her
motherjust recently passed away, and she came here to meet her new guardians. Her
mother had said that they were nice, but when Lauramet them, they seemed awfully
rude. She had mentioned that her mother had left her a large inheritance, but her
guardians said that she was penniless. Something just seems off. Nancy s father,
Carson Drew was in the middle of this case, and he needed Nancy to go to some
peoples houses and judge if they robbed the bank. No one fits the description, but 2
people are on vacation, or so they thought. A couple of days later Laura runs away,
and ends up at Nancy s house, and she said that she had over heard the Aborns
saying that they were going to steal Laura s priceless jewelry collection! Nancy
goes to their house on the lake, and sees Mr. Aborn going into the woods with a
plate of food. Nancy follows him, and sees him go into a bungalow in the middle
of the woods. She then runs off before he came back out. Then she went home and
decided she would go back in the evening. Nancy told Hannah (her housekeeper)
that she would be gone and to call the police if she did not return within a couple of
hours. Nancy gets to their lake
New South Vs Old South
The New South was 2/3 new in the areas of politics and economics; however, it was
not new in race relations. Before Reconstruction initiated in 1865, slaves were
treated very austerely jobs and rules. However, this changed after the Union victory
in the Civil War. This gave some 4 million slaves their freedom, but the process of
rebuilding the south brought a set of substantial challenges. In 1865, a period of
Presidential Reconstruction began because President Lincoln was assassinated. This
meant that all of Lincolns plans for reconstruction had to fall to his successor
Andrew Johnson. Black codes were then passed in Legislation controlling the work
and behavior of former slaves and African Americans. These codes were not liked by

The old south was very dependent on agriculture especially the crop of cotton. If
the cotton plants were eaten by Boll Weevil, the agriculture field would
significantly fall. However, the old south was also dependent on their secondary
plant tobacco. Southern tobacco production rose after the Civil War as two new
varieties had been founded and a new way to cure the tobacco. Textiles began to
boom and industrialization was in full force. Cotton consumption went from
182,000 bales before the war to 1,479,000 bales after the war. Railroad lines were
crossing the country, so the south could profit from other country s productivity.
Refrigerated rail cars also allowed southern produce to reach northern markets,
which further expanded the economy. Not only did agriculture better, but so did
textiles. Birmingham, Alabama was known for its iron, limestone, and coal

3.e) C term of the Van Deemter equation is affected by the change of mobile phase
since it is proportional to the linear flow rate (u). C term can be decreased by
decreasing the flow rate of the mobile phase. In turn it can also be increased with
increasing flow rate. When the mobile phase is 70% acetonitrile and 30% water,
the more hydrophobic it is, the faster compounds pass through the column, which
increases the C term. Since the stationary phase is more hydrophobic, compounds
elute quicker because they are polar and therefore less retained. This increases the
C term because flow rate is increased. Viscous stationary phases will also have larger
C terms. However when a less viscous mobile phases is used, this allows the analytes

Similarity that HILIC shares with normal phase HPLC is that the elution order is
the same and it is in the order of increasing hydrophobicity. HILIC also requires a
high amount of nonpolar mobile phase and a polar stationary phase just like
normal phase HPLC. The difference between the two is that HILIC requires some
water in the mobile phase to maintain a water layer on the surface so that
compounds can selectively partition. It employs a semi aqueous mobile phase.
Water miscible organic solvents are used in HILIC whereas water immiscible
solvents are in normal phase HPLC. Stationary phase in HILIC are required to be
polar, and water can act as a stationary phase. The stationary phase is more polar than
the mobile liquid, and these two liquids must be immiscible with each other. By the
process of partitioning between the water molecules in the stationary phase and any
solvent used as the mobile phase, separation of the analytes can occur. The different
solubilities of the components in the mobile phase and different adsorption forces is
what causes the process of partitioning to occur and bring out separation. Separation
occurs when the mobile phase consists of a water miscible organic solvent such as
acetonitrile and to promote hydrophilic interactions between the analyte and the
water stationary phase. 6. Differentiating the Van Deemter equation with respect to

Orbital Fracture In Sports
Orbital fractures represent a small proportion of sports related injuries. Initial
evaluation is directed at excluding neurological impairment or the presence of signs
and symptoms consistent with orbital fracture. These include gross bony deformity,
diplopia and malposition of globe. The majority of pationts who sustain orbital
fractures are able to return to sport, however, persistent diplopia is not uncommon.
Orbital fractures represent a significant sequelae of blunt ocular trauma sustained
during sport. These injuries may result in chronic functional disability for affected
players, and as such, must be differentiated from less serious facial injuries and
appropriately managed in the acute setting. [12]

When a blunt object larger than the diameter of the orbital entrance strikes the eye, it
compresses the globe resulting in a sudden increase in intraorbita hydraulic pressure.
The dose not rupture, and this acute increase in intraorbital pressure is dissipated via
the soft tissue through the weakest portions of the orbit: the posteromedial portion of
the orbital floor and the lamina papyracea of the ethmoid bone, which constitutes the
medial orbital wall. This ultimately results in the fracture and potential displacement
of one or both these bony orbital segments. Other theories describing the genesis of
blow out fractures have been offered and include the bone conduction or buckling
theory in which direct trauma to the inferior orbital rim causes the orbital floor to
buckle, and its thinnest area to fracture. Numerous studies have revealed data in

Health and Medicine in the Victorian Age
The Victorian era was the regime faced with a lot of challenges in the health sector

Sunrise Over Fallujah Book Report
Sunrise Over Fallujah was overall just a book. It lacked some character and word
choice. It is very much just the same as every other book about war. Some aspects
were surprising and a little different. But overall it was just a book about war. It
showed a different side of war, but it was still like every other book written about
that topic. So, this book did not have many interesting topics within, a topic that has
been written about many times, and characters with little depth. Sunrise Over

other books have some character development that helps with the main character s

not make sense to have so much development on him and no one else. The topics in
this book within the overall topic were very shallow. In most books, it teaches you

How Did Frederick Jackson Turner Influence The Frontier
The Frontier A Massive Influence
At present, we consider ourselves living in a modern society with big cities and
advanced technologies. New innovations allow us to transport and connect around the
globe quickly. Human have more opportunities to interact, communicate and develop.
The American life we live is such a happy picture drawn by ourselves, by the
American Dream. But as a natural reaction, with those delightful and colorful layers
on the top, we tend to forget the backdrop of our picture. We forget the foundation of
that living picture, the origin that shaped the American being and characteristics. One
of them is the frontier. Frederick Jackson Turner, a famous historian from the

Although we called it Westward movement, those formative experiences in the
Western frontier did shape American culture and values. Directly by Turner s
statement, individual liberty was sometimes confused with absence of all effective
government, and one way or another by the sense of guilt in Hawthorne s story, we
need to be aware of the development of democracy affected by the frontier condition,
where selfishness and individualism are too strong to keep people united and loyal.
The clearest connection between Turner and Hawthorne s description of the frontier
at the first sight was its rough and dangerous setting when the Western expansion
took place. The frontier at that time was suffering from the devastation of fierce
wars. There wasn t a fixed government to make law, to structure the society or to
control humans ambition. People used violence to show off their power. The
strongest always won; that was from nature s rule. To press this point, Hawthorne
began his story with the scene of the Lovewell s war, a series of battles between
New England and the Wabanaki Confederacy (uswars.net). The battles that took place
in the frontier were depicted as very terrible that affects both of the sides: Indian and
people in the settlement. Countless numbers of the dead and injured as well as
physical and mental damage resulted by the expansion of New England settlements
along the coast of Maine, Nova Scotia, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts

they must be resourceful to conserve all few available resources. For example, one
of my brothers who has worked as a building maintainer for more than twenty years

many talented people have to share a bedroom and a bathroom with an owner of a

Second, talented and hard working people do not receive adequate lifetime benefit

employers prevent their employees from receiving the employer self insured medical

The Discovery Of Penicillin During World War II
In 1928, after the careless mistake of forgetting to clean his dishes, Alexander
Fleming discovered penicillin. The scientific community still celebrates his discovery
since it was a major breakthrough in science, especially in the antibiotics and
fermentation field. Although his discovery changed various scientific fields and it
opened the doors for research in areas not studied or considered relevant before, the
actual usefulness of penicillinwas truly reached until the large scale production of
penicillin was achieved. Before its manufacturing penicillin was considered for
researching purposes, but after its manufacturing during World War II, it truly
became helpful for humanity because it could finally start performing within its
antibiotic spectrum. Although it is true that the discovery of penicillin was attributed
to Alexander Fleming, the response of the rest of the scientific community was
crucial in order to achieve the large scale production of penicillin. After the
incalculable loss of life during World War II, the scientific community was urged to
unite and work together for the development of the large scale production of
penicillin. Faced with the challenge of producing a sufficient amount of penicillin in
order to start shipping it as an antibiotic, scientists from all over the world started
working on feasible fermentation methods to make their set goal a reality. The first
attempt started with Norman Heatley, an Oxford biochemist.

the aircraft going missing are hijacking, mechanical, pilot error or etc....
Conspiracy theories vary from the aircraft being hijacked and taken to a remote
location and that the aircraft never crashed there are also theirs that the Malaysian
flight 17 that was shot down a few month later has a connection that they were
disposing of the aircraft when they shot down flight 370 and it had nothing to do
with flight 17. There are theories that the aircraft just vanished that it had nothing
to do with a ground to air missile, that the plane just vanished. A few that I think are
possible are that the plane was hijacked and then crashed into the Ocean or that the
aircraft was shot down by someone possibly on accident and that is why no one
has taken responsibility. It is very difficult to say what happened to the aircraft due
to their being very little evidence of the aircraft to research. Another theory is that
the Captain of the Aircraft committed suicide and 238 lives with him. This would

RE: PORTFOLIO ANALYSIS ON VANGUARD, REYNOLDS AND HASBRO
Investment decision is an intricate process that requires careful analysis of individual
investment options available for continued profitability. Different financial analyses
provide different perspectives. While ratio analysis of an individual company offers
the financial health of that company, its comparison with other key investment
opportunities may be limited when comparing across different industries. This

the analysis of 5 years of data. The results will be analyzed and discussed per
individual subheading used in the analysis to provide a broader picture.
The mean of Vanguard is 0.57433 as compared to RJR and Hasbro whose means are

Defining Victory Of The Modern Age Of Warfare
Words Matter: Defining Victory in the Modern Age of Warfare
The United States has not stopped winning wars but the nature of both war and
victory has changed. Adjusting to an evolving geopolitical environment, since World
War II the U.S. has changed the reasons it employs military force and the types of
wars it wages. Taken within the context of the each conflict s era, the U.S. has met
with mixed results in each conflict but ultimately has emerged victorious.
Defining Victory
What is victory? In order to understand victory and defeat it is important to consider
the national objectives that governed each conflict. Since World War II, the U.S. has
participated in five major conflicts (Korea, Vietnam, Dessert Storm, Operation Iraqi
Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan). In each of these
conflicts, the U.S. demonstrated military superiority. However, unlike previous wars,
these wars resulted in mixed results based on the specific political and military
objectives of the time.
Korea initiated the policy of containment that defined the Cold Warstruggle between
the U.S. and the Soviet Union. While the conflict s objectives changed multiple
times, the coalition met the initial objective to prevent the spread of communism on
the Korean Peninsula. In Vietnam, while the aim was the same the results were very
different. The U.S. was unable to force a political compromise that prevented the fall
of Democratic South Vietnam.
In contrast to Korea and Vietnam,

considered as the basic resource because all the operations and functions of the
business are dependent on this resource. For instance, the focus of the company is
that revenue keeps on growing, however, in order to achieve this target, investment
is needed which can be fulfilled by financial resource. Another division of tangible
resource is organisation in which the company need organisational resource for
conducting their functions. It is noticed that Netflix hired about 7 chief managers in
order to ensure that business keeps on running smoothly. Moreover, they also hired
75 employees in their Beverly Hills. These are the organisation resource, which are
also required for performing the basic activities of the business. In terms of physical
resource, the company needs number of DVDs to provide service. It is also one of
the important resources for Netflix because their function takes place on this
particular resource. While on the other hand, intangible resources include human
resource in which the company focused on hiring competent and skilled employees

Conflicts And Fusions Of The United States
Conflicts and fusions
As we all know, the year 1865 was an essential year for people in the United States. It
was also a beginning for American people to unify their countries and also a
beginning for slaves freedom. However, it was also the year 1865 when American
people lost a great leader, Abraham Lincoln. In Lincoln s 200th birthday, Obama

can also lead to other kinds of fusions. What s more, a history period for a country
is a sediment for both cultural and economic development. So when people look
back at their history, they will guide these sediments for the future. However, once
there is more than a countries history flung into a big melting pot, it must be
conflicts in the pot. Then, with unceasing frictions, a new kind of history for a new

Noel s Ideologies
Introduction In this paper, I outline Noel and Judis and display how they are in
disagreement as to the ideologically coherent nature of Trump s supporters and his
campaign. The ideology of the candidate, their campaign, and the ideology of their
supporters are not mutually exclusive. Donald Trump could be ideologically
incoherent as a person, which I am not arguing, but his campaign and supporters that
drove him to get elected were ideologically coherent. In this paper, I argue that
Donald Trump s campaign and his [Middle American Radical] supporters are
ideologically coherent under the mantra of an anti establishment ideology.

Noel states that many [Trump supporters] may self identify as conservative, but
they are not particularly ideological. This is why Trump s ideological apostasies do
not bother them. Noel s evaluation of ideology is limited through using a liberal to
conservative dichotomy. Moreover, his use of compromise as an independent
variable does not explain Trump as his support among activists comes from those
who would compromise and those who would stick to their principles. Within this
framework, it makes sense when he poses that Trump s supporters are not
ideologically coherent and Trump s ideological incoherencies do not affect them.
Judis offers an alternative MARs do not appear to be ideologically consistent

dichotomy. Judis says that political scientists have ignored the role of this distinct
[anti establishment] ideology behind the Middle American radicals, who are the
group most distrustful of the national government. Noel s framework does not
account for an anti establishment ideology that would explain why MARs are not
bothered by Trump s left or right incoherencies as they represent a uniting anti
establishment message. Noel posits that Trump appeals to a group of largely
alienated white voters , but fails to address why they feel alienated and the ideology
that directs their support to Trump s campaign. Middle American Radicals are
distrustful of the establishments of both major parties and Washington as a whole,
but they are also the group that is most likely to advocate for a situation when one

Two Sides of the Same Coin For some, everyday life is perfect; others it s ok with
many flaws. For a person living with bipolar disorder, everyday life can potentially

Han And Roman Realms Essay
The Han and Roman domains were distinctive in their strategies for political control
in the classical period as they utilized the ruler and republic frameworks separately in
light of the distinctions in societal association. In any case, these domains were
comparable in that they were both ruled via dictatorial tenet sooner or later to fortify
the administration s political control. At last, these realms were comparative in that
the pioneers utilized religious and ideological impact to control the general
population since individuals trues philosophies and religions to manage their

individuals to trust that the Roman pioneers were divine beings gave a tremendous
measure of political control over the general population. Incidentally, Christianity
additionally turned into a binding together component under the rule of the Roman
head Constantine. The way that a considerable lot of the general population in the
Roman realm were Christian gave Constantine tremendous political control as
individuals looked to him as a religious ruler too. At long last in the Han realm,
Confucianism was a huge component in each part of the domain. Everything from
social classes to basic cordiality was gotten from this philosophy. Moreover, the
command of paradise that was initiated amid the Zhou administration gave the
pioneers massive political control as the prominent belief system of the time gave
them the validity to run the show. With no contradiction or dispute. The routines for
political control of the Han and Roman domains were fundamentally the same. Truth
be told, it is staggering how two civic establishments with little contact could
Trends In African-American Music
There are many different genres or categories of music. These can range from the
smooth layered sound of classical music to the harsh thrashy sound of heavy metal in
a seemingly endless list of geners and sub genres. Amongst these genres few have
been as influential in contemporary music as the Blues. The bluescan be attributed as
being the foundation for many modern generes including rock and rolland jazz.
(Nicole 2005)
The blues are often known for their meloncholic overtones and simplistic chord
progressions. These characteristic are a direct result of the genres origins. During
the 19th century in southern America black slave groups would often sing work
songs to pass the time and maintain a steady work pace. These field hollers were
songs with simple meloncholic lyrics, often using a call and response style in full
a capella.(Oliver 1969) The 1890s was a pivitol time in african american history. It
saw the change from black slave labour to paid manual labour bringing with it a
sense of indivdualaity for the african american people.(Davis 2003) In turn using the
influences of the old work songs and the current western trends in music the early
blues were formed.
In 1908 the first blues sheet music publication Antonio Maggio s I got the blues was

Internal Controls and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 Essay
In order to be successful in business, a company must be able to track their assets.
This tracking system is typically done by a bookkeeper and must be reliable in
order to be effective. The way a company ensures their financial records are reliable
is by setting up a system of internal controls. Internal controls allow a company to
protect its assets from fraud and theft as well as ensuring records are kept accurately
by reducing errors and irregularities (Keisco, Kimmel and Weygandt, 2008). Internal
controls work by assigning responsibility, separating duties to provide checks and
balances, hiring an independent verification agent and through the use of technology
and physical controls. In many instances, internal controls are... Show more content

al., 2008). Internal controls are regulated by the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002. This
act assigns responsibility for a company s internal controls on its executives and
directors (Kiesco et.al., 2008). This assignment of responsibility forces the company
to use effective internal controls by making a certain group responsible. The act also
established the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board which regulates the
activities of auditors. Together, assigning responsibility and defining the standards
of auditors, the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 helps to safeguard a company s
investments, assets and future successes by discouraging fraud and theft. A company
that follows the requirements of the act insures to investors that their reporting is
accurate. However, a company whose internal controls show deficiencies, or who
chooses not to follow the Sarbanes Oxley requirements provides no insurance to
investors that their reporting is accurate. This would cause investors to sell their
stock and new investors to avoid the company because of the potential that reports
are inaccurate. Stock prices would, in turn, suffer as confidence in the company s
financial practices and reporting is questioned. With all the insurances provided by
internal controls and Sarbanes Oxley, a company still faces issues with accuracy in
bookkeeping records and accounting. The human element required intrinsically by the
Negative Consequences Of Fighting In Hockey
It s All Fun and Games When Someone Gets Hurt
Since the beginning of hockey, fans have gone crazy for the entertainment fights
bring to the games. The punches thrown, blood drawn and players knocked out
certainly excites the crowd and are part of the culture of the game. In fact, it is so
widely accepted, that teams specifically hire big guys to be enforcers that protect the
rest of the team and throw the punches no one else cares to. Despite its duration in
the league, do these fights have negative consequences as well? Lately, there has
been great controversy over whether or not to continue to allow fighting in the
league. The N.H.L. hasn t declared any rule against fighting, but rather, has created a
set of rules to outline the penalties and define the responsibilities of fights (National
Hockey League: Official Rules 2014 2015). What the N.H.L. lacks, however, is a
statement with evidence to support why they have chosen to allow fighting. With the
current uproar, the League should consider the unfortunate facts and reassess their
decision. The official rules, specifically rule 46, cover everything ... Show more

Still, should fighting in hockey be banned? Unfortunately, in order to bring a halt to
many of the issues that strike controversy today (e.g. concussions, depression,
anxiety, morality) it seems that an ultimatum against fighting in hockey is needed.
Truly, these issues need to be taken into consideration; they are too prevalent not to.
While the N.H.L. has written extensive rules to keep fights in control when they do
occur, the League has yet to explain any benefits from facilitating the fighting at all.
So whether the league decides to allow fighting or not, the decision should be made
and should be made with caution and appropriate evaluation of evidence. Clearly, the
evidence for banning fights is pervasive; thus, if the League desired that fighting

Offshore Exploration And Drilling
The Ocean s ecosystem is essential to a balanced, healthy life on Earth. Offshore
exploration and drilling is taking place in the Atlantic Ocean in endangered animals
habitats and nurseries. The U.S. should not be allowed to continue oil exploration
due to the concerns of the harming of marine life. The seismic surveys affect and
disrupt animal life and breeding. One of the North Atlantic Right Whales, which is an
endangered species, causes of fatalities and serious injuries is noise from industrial
activities. It is well known that these seismic surveys are affecting and hurting
endangered species according to a government researcher who studies sound. It s been
pretty well documented that seismic surveys have disrupted animal behavior and

Since 1975 offshore drilling has had a 99.999 percent safety record (Horton).
While the chances seem very slim for an incident to happen that harms the
ecosystem it still happens more than you think. There will be no less than one spill
a year of 1,000 barrels... a spill of 10,000 or more can be expected every three to
four years (Horton). And for the high safety rate of 99.999 percent of success and
safety it isn t as good as it can be. While the 99.999 percent safety record sounds
nice that 0.001 percent can be pretty horrific for people living there (Horton). The
U.S. should not be allowed to continue oil exploration due to the concerns of the
harming of marine life. If oil drilling is affecting the endangered species of the
Atlantic Ocean then we should not allow the government to permit it. Additionally to
killing endangered species it also is ruining the Ocean s natural habitat. Would you

Foil Characters In Romeo And Juliet
William Shakespeare is the greatest playwright in the history of the world, and one
of his most famous tragedy plays is Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet by
William Shakespeare is about two star crossed lovers Romeo Montague and Juliet
Capulet. Their families are in a feud and brawls have taken place between these
two families. Romeo s personality can be viewed differently from different parts
of the play with the other characters he is around. At one point of the play he can
be seen as a positive, tranquil man and the next moment later he is a vicious,
stubborn person. Using foils Romeo s character is developed by contrasting
through Friar Laurence s wise personality, Balthasar s loyal personality, and
Benvolio s peaceful personality. Friar Laurence develops Romeo s character through
his wise personality making Romeo look stubborn. Romeo demonstrates as being
stubborn when he finds out he is banished and is willing to kill himself by saying,
Wert thought as young as I, Juliet thy love, an hour but married, Tybalt murdered,
doting like me and like me banished, then mightst thou speak, then mightst thou tear
thy hair, and fall upon the ground, as I do now, taking the measure of an unmade
grave man (3.3.65 70). Romeo is willing to take his life just because he can t be with

When Benvolio is talking to Romeo he says, Romeo, away, be gone! The citizens
are up, and Tybalt slain. Stand not amazed; the Prince will doom thee death

thinking. Tybalt would have died either way, but Romeo killed him and now he
would be punished. Furthermore, Romeo let anger get to him to make him kill
Tybalt. Benvolio said to Romeo before the fight not to fight Tybalt or get in the way,
which led to Mercutio dying because Romeo wanted the fight to stop. Romeo then

Hippie Movement Research Paper
The definition of a Hippie is: a person of unconventional appearance, typically
having long hair and wearing beads, associated with a subculture involving a
rejection of conventional values and the taking of hallucinogenic drugs. The Hippie
Movement began in the 1960 s with the height of the movement being in 1967. This
movement was a result of people feeling alienated from the middle class society or
rejecting it, as well as the critical historical events like the Vietnam War. The origins
had its start in San Francisco, California and slowly made its way across America.
The term hippieoriginally derived from the term hipster and was used nationally and
internationally by mass media as a label to describe the community of young people...

Public gathering, music festivals, and protests were all important to the movement.
The Hippie movement only comprised 10% of youth , but the fact that the culture
was so strange allowed it to gain a lot of media coverage. The biggest issues society
had with the hippies were their public protests, meetings and discussions that would
flood the streets. The hippie scene on Haight Street in San Francisco attracted
photographers, reporters, and opportunists. The first large congregations of Hippies
that was noticed by media was the Summer of Love . The Summer of Love was a
social phenomenon that occurred during the summer of 1967, when as many as
100,000 people crowded San Francisco s neighborhood Haight Ashbury. College and
high school students found their way into Haight Ashbury for spring break, but by
the time summer came around local government officials tried to stop the influx of
young. These efforts brought even more attention to the scene, and articles in local
papers alerted the national media to the hippies growing numbers. Haight Ashbury
residents even gave the occurrence its name. The media s reportage included other
cultural events in California, such as the Fantasy Fair, Magic Mountain Music
Festival and the Monterey Pop Festival, both of which happened in June of 1967.
The Woodstock music festival came two years after the Summer of Love
phenomenon but still brought in close to half a

Use of Airplanes in WW1
The First World War was monumental in history because of all the new technology
that was introduced. One particular area that developed during the Great War was the
use of airplanes by the German and Allied militaries. In comparison, they both had
different mentalities towards an invention that was only made successful less than a
decade before the outbreak of war in 1914 by the Wright Brothers in North Carolina,
United States. The German Military welcomed the idea with open arms, investing in
its potential for military uses, whereas the Allies remained reserved and hesitant,
claiming that aircraft could not be used for anything more offensive than
reconnaissance missions. These differences in opinions later affected the
development of each air force. The German military kept making monthly
improvements to their equipment whereas the allied pilots were slow in their
respective air forces evolution. However, there was a common progression that both
militaries had which was the slow phasing out of the cavalry on either side due to the
effectiveness of the aircrafts reconnaissance capabilities. During the World War One,
the German military took advantage of the new technology available to them, which
gave significant results, whereas the Allies had a more traditional mindset for the
beginning of the conflict. The Central powers have usually accepted new technology
within their history without much opposition. One example of this fact is based on
the preparedness of the German

  • 1. College Research Essay Crafting a college research essay can be a daunting task that demands a considerable amount of time, effort, and intellectual engagement. The difficulty lies not only in the extensive research required but also in the ability to synthesize information coherently and present a well-structured argument. Firstly, one must navigate through a vast sea of academic sources, carefully selecting relevant and credible materials to support the thesis. This process involves critical thinking and the ability to discern the reliability of sources. Additionally, keeping abreast of current research on the chosen topic adds another layer of complexity. Moreover, the writing process itself can pose challenges. Articulating thoughts clearly, constructing cohesive paragraphs, and ensuring a logical flow of ideas are essential components of an effective essay. The need for proper citation and adherence to a specific citation style further contributes to the intricacy of the task. Balancing the depth of analysis with conciseness is another challenge. It's crucial to delve into the nuances of the subject without becoming overly verbose. Striking the right balance requires a keen awareness of the audience and an understanding of what information is essential for supporting the thesis. Editing and revising are integral stages that demand a critical eye. Ensuring that the essay is free from grammatical errors, typos, and awkward phrasing is vital for a polished final product. Revisiting and refining the argument, structure, and clarity of expression may entail multiple iterations. In conclusion, writing a college research essay is a multifaceted process that necessitates proficiency in research, critical thinking, writing, and editing. The challenge lies not just in the depth of understanding the topic but in effectively communicating that understanding to an academic audience. For those facing difficulties or time constraints, it's worth noting that assistance is available. Services like HelpWriting.net offer support in crafting essays, providing a resource for students seeking expert help in navigating the complexities of academic writing. • 2. Adult Support Learning Essay Steiner educators believe in a child initiated, adult supported learning technique where the the child uses its imagination and the pace of learning is set by the chid (Glazzard et al, 2010, p3). There is high parental involvement in the method (Pound, 2006 p7). Reggio Emilia refers to educators as partners, nurtures, researchers and guides(Edwards, Gandini Forman, 1998 p35). The curriculum is child led with focus placed on children s strengths rather than weaknesses and the adult collaborates with creations (Pound, 2006, p52 53). Parents, children, professional staff and the wider community are all seen as partners in education (Edwards, Gandini Forman, 1998 p35). Aistear recommends that learning varies from being adult led to child led with respect given to the uniqueness of each child. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Glazzard et al., 2010, p4). Aistear refers to assessment as an ongoing process of collecting, documenting , reflecting on, and using information to gain a complete picture of the children in order to support and further their future learning (pg 72 Guidelines for good practice). Assessment aids children s learning when the adult identifies their learning and development requirements (NCCA (1), 2009, p.102). All three of the theorists support the importance of assessment. Conclusion The author has compared the characteristics and features of a range of curricula and has discussed how these curricula have influenced the development of Aistear the Early Childhood Curriculum Framework in relation to the environment, interactions, play, assessment and partnership with parents. From this the author can see that all philosophies centre around education of the whole child . However, as highlighted, there are a few areas in each theorist s method which would need to be developed further in order to correspond with today s Aistear the Early Childhood Curriculum
  • 3. Reclining Nude Faith Kim Prof. Hight Introduction to Visual Arts 4 June 2012 Reclining Nude The artwork is called Reclining Nude by Jean Antoine Watteau and I found this artwork in the Norton Simon Museum. I was captivated by the sensuality and the delicacy in the painting. I first noticed in the painting was her robust ivory figure contrasting with the dark chocolate background because I felt that these contrasting colors evoked a sense of purity and light against the mysterious darkness. She seems to have turned around and noticed something. Perhaps someone just entered the room and surprised her or she could have been waiting for her lover. I also noticed that in this painting, that there are only three objects: the bed, the girl, and the dark ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The change in France s notion is reflected in the Reclining Nude. The woman is more humanized with her lying comfortably than posing like a goddess in stupendous fashion. Also, the details of her anatomy, such as the indent of fat between her left breast and hip, give her a more realistic look as well. The Reclining Nude carries the characteristics of the Rococo style and embodies the cultural shift of France. No one knows for certain the true meaning behind Watteau s Reclining Nude. There are theories that Reclining Nude has no meaning and is a simply a copy of Watteau s other artwork, The Remedy. The Remedy shows the same reclining nude woman who appears in the painting. But in addition, it includes a maid with a syringe approaching her mistress to administer an enema, and also a night table at the left and more of the bed at the bottom of the composition (Posner 386). Only difference is that in the Reclining Nude, the focal point is not the action between the woman and her nurse, but just the woman. However, Watteau might have intended for the painting to be an erotic artwork. Watteau might have portrayed her as the ideal woman and to make love to this woman is as beautiful as her. This type of work would have reflected the intellectual and social libertinism...especially in France (Posner 387). Expressing eroticism such as this was radical, but so was the culture and time period of
  • 4. The Indian Independence Movement The history of the Indian Independence Movement against the British in the 20th Century was evidently influenced and motivated by the underlying differences and perceptions of communal identities. The freedom struggle in essence was also an assertion of the interests and aspirations of the diverse communities of the Indian subcontinent. The Indian National Congressand the Muslim League were the two big powers that sought to mobilize public sentiments in the quest for Independence. While the Muslim League (formed in 1906), stood as a symbol of Islamic nationalism, the INC on the other hand was seen as pro Hindu (with a strong influence of radical groups like the Hindu Mahasabha). Mohammad Ali Jinnah, initially a Congress nationalist, joined the Muslim League in 1913 in order to align the views of the two communities in their collective struggle for freedom. The result was The Lucknow Pact which laid down the constitutional framework of seat and power sharing arrangements for elections to the Provincial Legislative Councils. Muslims were provided with separate electorates and one third representation in the Central government. Congress that claimed to fight only for secular goals and considered religion as a private matter of individual granted the separate electorates for Muslim went against their very own ideologies. This lead to the settlement of differences between the two parties and immediate goal of both the parties through the pact called for greater autonomy as a
  • 5. The Caste System In Ancient India The world has seen many civilizations. One of the most prominent civilizations in southern Asia was ancient India. Ancient India was well known for their caste system. The caste system is believed to have been created around 1500 BCE. It separated the people of ancient India into four groups that determined their significance. The brahmins made up the highest caste with priests and religious leaders. The second group was the kshatriyas and they were the kings and warriors. Third were the vaishyas. They were made of traders, farmers, and other working class people. Last was the shudras and they were laborers. A fifth group existed separately from the caste system. These were the dalits which meant the untouchables and they were thought of as inferior by the other castes. Under this system some were powerful while others were weak and powerless. India s social structure was built upon the caste system, which is still used today. The caste system affected religion, government, and people in different ways. India s caste system allowed their religion and their government to take root, and shaped their social class. Hinduism was greatly influenced by the caste system. Hindu beliefs state that someone s actions in one life will determine their placement in the caste system during their next life. The caste system, in a way, made Hinduism very important. Especially for those in lower castes. It allowed them a way out of their harsh lives and that is why it appealed to them the
  • 6. The Benefits of Being a Vegetarian According to Dr. T. Colin Campbell, No chemical carcinogen is nearly so important in causing human cancer as animal protein . There are nine categories of vegetarianism which include many different diets such as vegan, raw food and macrobiotic diets (ProQuest). The different categories of vegetarianism from which you can choose depend on your body type and lifestyle (Preyss Pro). Not being a vegetarian can lead to obesity, illness and harm to animals. These problems can be solved by more vegetarian foods being served in public places. While vegetarians live a healthy life, meateaters are increasing their chance of becoming obese. The protein source for vegetarians comes from chickpeas, beans, legumes, lentils, nuts and seeds (Hoy). Too much protein can cause kidney stones, osteoporosis and sometimes heart disease and some cancers (Graham). Being a vegetarian will only maintain a healthy amount of protein, with no extra to worry about. Isaac Almeida states that It (meat) provides nutrients for the body to survive, and it helps build muscle (Preyss Con). Vegetarian lifestyle can lead to B12 deficiency (Preyss Con), which means that vegetarians and vegans may have to take B12, calcium, vitamin D and zinc supplements for wellness (Hoy). Meats have Vitamin E, iron, zinc and magnesium in them (Preyss Con). According to Tim Holcomb Eating meat twice a week should be a perfect amount for the average person s diet (Preyss Con). Thirty percent of a meat eater s diet should be made up of proteins, lean red meat, poultry and fish. Thirty percent should be made up of healthy fats such as nuts, oils and avocados. And the last forty percent should be made up of carbs, fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds, and very few starches (Preyss Con). According to Avery Johnson, vegetarians have less chance of dying from diabetes, kidney failure, and they are nineteen percent less likely to die from heart disease than meat eaters. She also states that vegetarians are also less

  • 9. Compare And Contrast Proctor And Jeremiad The jeremiad is that God will reward good behavior or he will punish those who do not fear or conform to his wrath. Puritans believe in the jeremiad. Puritans were a protestant religion that had a simple and religious life. They believed that hard work was the key to getting into heaven and they were scared of hell. They had many restrictions and rules so that they would not disobey Godand would be able to get into heaven. Puritans believed that God could be cruel and angry with them if they ever did anything bad, so they feared him. In Of Plymouth Plantation and from Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, the two writers are very similar in their use of jeremiad. There was a proud and very profane young man, one of the seamen...he would always be contemning the poor people in their sickness and cursing them daily with grievous execrations; and did not let to tell them that he hoped to cast half of them overboard before they came to their journey s end, and to make merry with what they had; and if he were by any gently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In my opinion, jeremiad is comparable to karma. Karma is the belief that whatever you do will come back around to you. For example, if one does a good deed, they will receive something good in return. Or if one does something bad, they will receive something bad in return. An example of jeremiad in my life (or karma), occurred when I was working. One day a woman came in with her children and she could not afford to buy her children popcorn. The children really wanted some and you could tell how terrible the mother felt that she could not give her children any. I then offered to buy the popcorn for them, and she graciously accepted. The next day, I was out to eat with my family and someone anonymously payed for our entire meal. This is an example of jeremiad because I did something good, or nice, and in return I was rewarded with a nice
  • 10. The Limitations Of Frye s Green World What are the limitations of Frye s Green World model as applied to Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare? Twelfth Night was thought to be written in 1600 1. The play known for adhering to a genre of romantic comedy by utilising pathos combined with humour is listed under comedies in the First Folio of 1623 with another of Shakespeare s works As You Like It. Twelfth Night adheres to Frye s theory to some extent. The old world, one of repression, is conveyed through the puritanical beliefs of Malvolio; the green world is conveyed through the theories of disguise and confusion; and a new world is established through the restoration of order and the marriages in Act 5. However, the continuous adherence to the old world through Malvolio and a lack of clear structure when transgressing the worlds limits the extent of Frye s theory. The flexible structure is perhaps more indicative of Berger s second world theory. My aim is to explore the limitations of the green world within the play Twelfth Night. Music permeates Twelfth Night immediately in Act 1 Scene 2 with Orsino s opening declaration of love If music be the food of love, play on (lines 1 2), through this he is established and characterised as an extravagant lover, indulging in his hyperbolic passion for a woman who does not return his love. His language is full of romantic clichГ©s such as ...was I turn d into a hart (line 21), this metaphor allows Shakespeare to not only intensify the exploration of the genre of
  • 11. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Geospatial Satellite Imagery Over the past decade, the ability of large financial institutions to accurately predict changes in the price of financial securities by using advanced technology has increased exponentially (Bloomberg). Specifically, the introduction of affordable geospatial satellite imagery has enabled investment managers to estimate crop yields, oil supply, and livestock quantities with low margins of error. This information is used to inform trading decisions, which often result in large profits (Woyke). While extremely useful, this technology is only available to a select number of institutions, as they have signed exclusivity and pricing agreements with the technology firms providing the data. One salesperson from Planet Labs offered one million square miles of daily corn imagery for a $300,000 per month subscription (McDonald). A second salesperson from Descartes Labs offered all U.S. corn and soy imagery for $500,000 per month (Smith). For a multi billion dollar or multi trillion dollar institution, this cost is negligible when compared with the potential returns. However, smaller firms and retail investors have been priced out of the market entirely according to Tian Nan from Almitas Capital, a $150 million hedge fund in Southern California. The salesperson from Descartes Labs told Nan that he was not authorized to sell data any cheaper due to pricing agreements with their main client . Furthermore, he disclosed that even if someone is willing to pay the market price for data, it would be delayed 24 hours due to terms in the agreement. In most cases, after 24 hours, the data is useless for trading purposes; it is simply too late to make a profitable decision. Phone conversations with representatives from TellusLabs, Orbital Insight, and Quandl revealed the same findings as Descartes Labs. Clearly, the larger institutions have a distinct advantage and the power to block others from trading profitably in the commodities markets. If only large institutions have access to superior information, smaller

JAMSETJI TATA SCHOOL OF DISASTER MANAGEMENT Supply Chain and Logistics challenges Haiti Earthquake, 2010 Shailendra Rai 02 Aug 15 STRATEGIC PLANNING AND DISTRIBUTION NETWORK IN DISASTERS: TRANSPORTATION, WAREHOUSING AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT Submitted to Prof. Janki Andharia In the last few decades we have seen the emergence of the supply chain as a critical competitive force in today s market. By understanding supply chain and fostering appropriate ties between both customers and supplier humanitarian agencies and government can realize significant benefits in the form of reduced inventories, lower costs, enhanced responsiveness and improved strategic focus in terms of design, execution and capital investments. The term was first coined in 1982 by Keith Oliver, a consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton, during an interview with Financial Times. Supply Chain Management is still evolving, although it is not new. Consequently, it has largely not been theoretically grounded, it is a concept that has been born of practice, grown through needs and changed in response to various challenges, threats and opportunities. Supply chain nomenclature is still in controversy whether it is supply chain, supply chain networks or value chain networks? Melnyk et al. (2010) noted a transition from the strategically price driven supply chain to the strategically value driven supply chain. Supply chain design is a rich aspect of supply chain management that goes beyond issues of

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you may have a serious disorder from love of skinny jeans. Skinny jeans are a form fitting, thigh hugging, narrow legged type of jeans. Now let s go back time, all the way back to the 1950 s. The term skinny jeans was invented first in the 1800 s by Levi Strauss. This question popped up immediately when I heard the prompt, as I m sure some others have said too. Originally I was only going to focus on recent events such as the FBI v. Sure it is easy to conclude from the sources included in this piece that surveillance does diminish personal privacy to a certain extent, but it s better to deduce that more people should understand and be aware of how serious of an issue this really is. There are people who seek to promote and diminish surveillance and consumer s control of their own information and that contributes to the complexity of this growing problem. The research done so far only touches the surface of why it is important for people to learn about protecting themselves from unwanted spying, yet it still needs to expand into explaining more in depth the goals of the government agencies that encourage surveillance programs. As of now, after reviewing all these sources, I think it is important to stress that this issue is not simple. Moreover, is it worth it for an individual to sacrifice personal liberties such as privacy for safety through increased surveillance? Consumer privacy should not be sacrificed to ensure public safety since this would undermine the personal liberties of millions of

Before Reconstruction initiated in 1865, slaves were treated very austerely jobs and rules. However, this changed after the Union victory in the Civil War. This gave some 4 million slaves their freedom, but the process of rebuilding the south brought a set of substantial challenges. In 1865, a period of Presidential Reconstruction began because President Lincoln was assassinated. C term can be decreased by decreasing the flow rate of the mobile phase. In turn it can also be increased with increasing flow rate. When the mobile phase is 70% acetonitrile and 30% water, the more hydrophobic it is, the faster compounds pass through the column, which increases the C term. Since the stationary phase is more hydrophobic, compounds elute quicker because they are polar and therefore less retained. This increases the C term because flow rate is increased. Viscous stationary phases will also have larger C terms. However when a less viscous mobile phases is used, this allows the analytes to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similarity that HILIC shares with normal phase HPLC is that the elution order is the same and it is in the order of increasing hydrophobicity. HILIC also requires a high amount of nonpolar mobile phase and a polar stationary phase just like normal phase HPLC. The difference between the two is that HILIC requires some water in the mobile phase to maintain a water layer on the surface so that compounds can selectively partition. It employs a semi aqueous mobile phase. Water miscible organic solvents are used in HILIC whereas water immiscible solvents are in normal phase HPLC. Stationary phase in HILIC are required to be polar, and water can act as a stationary phase. The stationary phase is more polar than the mobile liquid, and these two liquids must be immiscible with each other. By the process of partitioning between the water molecules in the stationary phase and any solvent used as the mobile phase, separation of the analytes can occur. The different solubilities of the components in the mobile phase and different adsorption forces is what causes the process of partitioning to occur and bring out separation. Separation occurs when the mobile phase consists of a water miscible organic solvent such as acetonitrile and to promote hydrophilic interactions between the analyte and the water stationary phase. 6. There are theories that the aircraft just vanished that it had nothing to do with a ground to air missile, that the plane just vanished. A few that I think are possible are that the plane was hijacked and then crashed into the Ocean or that the aircraft was shot down by someone possibly on accident and that is why no one has taken responsibility. It is very difficult to say what happened to the aircraft due to their being very little evidence of the aircraft to research. Different financial analyses provide different perspectives. While ratio analysis of an individual company offers the financial health of that company, its comparison with other key investment opportunities may be limited when comparing across different industries. This analysis seeks to utilize a number of statistical and financial results emerging from the analysis of 5 years of data. Defining Victory Of The Modern Age Of Warfare Words Matter: Defining Victory in the Modern Age of Warfare The United States has not stopped winning wars but the nature of both war and victory has changed. Adjusting to an evolving geopolitical environment, since World War II the U.S. has changed the reasons it employs military force and the types of wars it wages. Taken within the context of the each conflict s era, the U.S. has met with mixed results in each conflict but ultimately has emerged victorious. Defining Victory What is victory? In order to understand victory and defeat it is important to consider the national objectives that governed each conflict. Since World War II, the U.S. has participated in five major conflicts (Korea, Vietnam, Dessert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan). In each of these conflicts, the U.S. demonstrated military superiority. However, unlike previous wars, these wars resulted in mixed results based on the specific political and military objectives of the time. Korea initiated the policy of containment that defined the Cold Warstruggle between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. While the conflict s objectives changed multiple times, the coalition met the initial objective to prevent the spread of communism on the Korean Peninsula. In Vietnam, while the aim was the same the results were very different. The U.S. was unable to force a political compromise that prevented the fall of Democratic South Vietnam. In contrast to Korea and Vietnam,

Within this framework, it makes sense when he poses that Trump s supporters are not ideologically coherent and Trump s ideological incoherencies do not affect them. This act assigns responsibility for a company s internal controls on its executives and directors (Kiesco et.al., 2008). One particular area that developed during the Great War was the use of airplanes by the German and Allied militaries. In comparison, they both had different mentalities towards an invention that was only made successful less than a decade before the outbreak of war in 1914 by the Wright Brothers in North Carolina, United States. The German Military welcomed the idea with open arms, investing in its potential for military uses, whereas the Allies remained reserved and hesitant, claiming that aircraft could not be used for anything more offensive than reconnaissance missions. These differences in opinions later affected the development of each air force. The German military kept making monthly improvements to their equipment whereas the allied pilots were slow in their respective air forces evolution. However, there was a common progression that both militaries had which was the slow phasing out of the cavalry on either side due to the effectiveness of the aircrafts reconnaissance capabilities. During the World War One, the German military took advantage of the new technology available to them, which gave significant results, whereas the Allies had a more traditional mindset for the beginning of the conflict. The Central powers have usually accepted new technology within their history without much opposition. One example of this fact is based on the preparedness of the German
