Describe Your Neighborhood Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Describe Your Neighborhood" may seem deceptively simple at
first glance, but delving into the task reveals its inherent challenges. The difficulty arises not
from a lack of personal experiences or observations but rather from the intricate balance required
to capture the essence of one's neighborhood in a coherent and engaging manner.
Firstly, the challenge lies in avoiding clichГ©s and generic descriptions that fail to provide a
vivid picture of the neighborhood. It demands a keen observational eye to discern the unique
characteristics that set the neighborhood apart. Balancing the portrayal of positive aspects with
any challenges or complexities adds an additional layer of complexity, requiring a nuanced
approach to present a realistic and well-rounded depiction.
Furthermore, there's the challenge of finding the right words to convey the sensory details that
make the neighborhood come alive for the reader. Describing the sights, sounds, smells, and
even the intangible sense of community poses a linguistic challenge, as it requires a writer to
transcend mere description and create a sensory experience through words.
Structuring the essay is another hurdle. Deciding on the sequence of events or features to
highlight, organizing thoughts coherently, and maintaining a smooth flow from one idea to the
next demand careful planning and execution. Striking a balance between vivid imagery and
concise expression adds yet another layer of intricacy.
Finally, the personal nature of the topic can make it challenging to strike the right tone. Avoiding
sentimentality or over-romanticization while still conveying a genuine affection for the
neighborhood is a delicate balancing act.
In conclusion, while the topic of "Describe Your Neighborhood" may seem straightforward, the
process of transforming personal experiences into a well-crafted essay is a complex endeavor. It
requires a thoughtful approach to detail, structure, and tone to successfully convey the unique
character of one's surroundings.

Property Rights and the Economic System
The property occupies a central place in the economic system . It is associated
with: 1) the purpose and functioning of the economic system ; 2) economic way to
connect employees with the means of production ( as with his or foreign ); 3) forms
of production and distribution, exchange and consumption of the results of labor ; 4)
The social structure of society , certain groups , classes and strata in society; 5 ) the
nature of work incentives . Propertyrelations form all other kinds of economic
relations are the backbone and so basic.
Enhanced the importance of the problem of property in connection with the transition
to a market economy , as it is the foundation of the property becoming a new
economic organization of society. Therefore, economic reform must begin with the
transformation of property relations.
In Soviet economic literature , including textbooks on political economy , property
was considered simplistic. Socialist property was presented as an economic
phenomenon , which automatically does all employees own all the means of
production . In fact, the property a multifaceted socio economic phenomenon ,
covering all aspects of the economic life of society.
Property is a complex and multi level category . At the first level , or on the surface
phenomena property expresses the relationship of man to things , man s power over
the thing . This power is manifested in human capabilities own, manage , use the
objects property. Man s relation to things , being
Humor And Lust In The Miller s Tale
Geoffrey Chaucer makes an interesting case in The Miller s Tale. He makes readers
wonder if all the characters got what they deserved. Did John deserve to break both
his arms and lose his wife? Did Nicholas deserve to get a blisstered bum? Did
Absolon deserve to be farted on? He uses humor and lust to make a mockery of The
Knight s Tale told before The Miller s Tale. A noble tale followed by a vulgar tale.
John a very gullible and innocent carpenter is married to a beautiful 18 year old who
he knows will make him a cuckold. In The Miller s Tale, Nicholas tells John, There ll
be a fall of rain so fierce a spate Even Noah s Flood was never half so great. (89).
John believes that because Nicholas can supposedly tell if it will rain or not.

From Novel to Film: The Strong Urge to Survive in Life of Pi
The will to live is a strong urge of survival that occurs when one s life is threatened.
The novel and film Life of Pi is about a boy named Piscine Molitor Patel who is lost
in the middle of the Pacific Ocean due to a shipwreck with a 450 pound Bengal
Tiger. The theme that fits the novel and film the best is the will to live. The novel
and film effectively prove the theme by using symbols to portray how badly Pi
wants to live. Characterization also plays an important role in proving the theme as
the novel and book show how Pi and his tiger have to change themselves to live.
Cinematic techniques such as different types of camera angles are used as well to
prove that the will to live is the essential theme in the film. In the novel, Yann Martel
shows how the camera angles prove what they prove. The film and novel Life of Pi
effectively capture the theme of the will to live by the effective use of symbolism,
characterization, and cinematic techniques.
To start off, the novel Life of Pi displays hope and survival through symbolism
using the colour orange. While Pi is in the ocean, there is orange all around him.
Shortly after Pi falls into the ocean and is swimming, he says that the ocean is
black and cold and in rage (Martel 117). As one can imagine, it s almost impossible
to survive in an ocean that is in rage but he gets onto the life boat and survives. After

Scenario: To open a Lemonade Stand in your local neighborhood.
Its summer time and the most important thing in hot weather is the need to quench
your thirst. What is a better drink then a refreshing Lemonade. Since long I was very
much interested in opening a lemonade stand, which I finally decided to have it
implemented before the summer season starts. After a lot of research and hard work I
have come up with a business model that would work efficiently in generating
revenue and also help local community.
Brand:
The brand name that I came up with is a catchy and trendy word which I think
represents the product and justifies the product s need in hot season. The brand name
would be GO COOL Real Lemonade. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pricing Strategy:
Since the Lemonade business depends on lemon and sugar, our company will have
to keep an eye on the stock needed and the availability of the two item locally and
internationally. Even though the business will be at the peak in summer and will
slow down in winter, a close monitoring on the international prices is a must. The
future plan of the company is to expand in other continents by giving out franchise.
So if it winter in US we generate business revenue from countries like Australia and
New Zealand where they would have summer. To keep standard pricing and profit
margin for the franchises, a detailed costing would be required. The things that are
needed to be considered would be Cost of Lemon, Cost of Sugar, Cost of water, Cost
of container, 10% overheads (labor, rent, utilities, etc), 5% franchisingfee and 7%
profit margin. In addition to this pricing 2% price fluctuation will be added to the
cost. With this calculation the company and the franchises should make enough
money to survive in the competitive market.
Global Market:
Even though the product can be packed in a container and can be sold globally, I
would prefer to have local franchises so that we can provide pure and authentic
lemonade without preservatives as we promised. Also, opening a franchise will give
local people employment, which is also a way to give back to the community.
If we stick to the plans and ethics, I think our company has a bright future

create a ceramic bowl, and after continuous efforts it proves to be one of his

Wb Yeats As A Dynamic Poet
William Butler Yeats is one of the most renowned Anglo Irish poets and a winner
of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1923. As a representative symbolist poet his
primary focus was to place his love for his origins, literature, philosophy and
history in his art. The world that he presents in his works is a mixture of natural,
human and cultural values. There is constant renewal, experimentation and utter
dedication to the craft of poetry in his works. Of all the poets in our course, WB
Yeats is easily our favorite. His poetry has a dynamic quality. Several aspects of his
poetry that appeal the most to us are the political or polemical dimension to his
work, his use of nature as a theme and his reflection on old age, body and the soul
and finally his discussion on mysticism and reincarnation of the... Show more content

One of the most important aims of poetry is to give the reader aesthetic pleasure.
But what is more important is that it should present reality truthfully and defend
human values artistically. It should envision a society where people can live a
better life. Yeats did just that. The greatness of his poetry lies in the fact that it
interprets the contemporary political events within the framework of a
philosophical system. All the great poets speak of people and rise above the petty
politics of their class. The cross the boundary of politics and enter into the realm of
philosophy. Yeats too rose above the ephemerality of politics and made an attempt
to achieve permanence in poetry by following the philosophical system. Being
from an Anglo Irish family, he could have easily gone to the English side but what
he chose was to represent the repressed Irish people. He was a nationalist but he
spoke of all nations colonized by the British. He had a special sympathy for India.
As a poet he was concerned with human values and believed that there should be a
proper balance between the matter and

Alcatraz Island has been and still serves as a very meaningful symbol for people from
around the world. It s main impact tends to lean more towards the Native American
culture, because they claim that the Island belonged to Indian tribe communities.
Therefore they believe that it is still rightfully theirs. This struck a detrimental cord
between the white community, its surroundings, and the Native American culture.
Under the Treaty of Fort Laramie, established in 1868, there was an attempt between
the United States and the Lakota people to try to keep and maintain control over
traditional territories claimed by certain tribes.

The Persian Wars Were Significant For World History
One of the main components that defined the ancient world is war. During the era
of expansion and conquest, wars were waged across lands near and far. By means
of defense, revolts arose at this time of numerous battles as well as the formation of
alliances. As a whole, war is a struggle for power. For instance, two great ancient
civilizations, Greece and Persia, fought in a series of conflicts known as the Greco
Persian Wars. Herodotus, the historian who first wrote about the Persian Wars, once
said, Great things are won by great dangers. All war is dangerous, yet the
advancements made afterward help form civilizations and promote future prosperity.

Moreover, in the Battle of Thermopylae, Persian forces led by Xerxes outnumbered
the Greeks yet again. However, the militant Spartans took up arms and were able to
defeat the large Persian army. Thermopylae allowed the Greek forces to come up
with various tactics and strategies in order to defeat Persia. Next, the Battle of Salamis
was a naval battle between several Greek city states and Persia. This battle forms
the turning point of the Greco Persian Wars since it ultimately saved Greece from
being absorbed into the Persian Empire and ensured the emergence of Western
civilization as a major force in the world. The ending of the Battle of Salamis left
the Persian army trapped in Greece, which paves the way for the final battle of the
war, the Battle of Platea. In the battle, the Greek army came and defeated the
weakened Persians, the Persian Wars were over . The mark of the ending of the
Greco Persian wars gave way to Athens arising from the ashes as the dominant and
central city state of Greece, which then provides political and cultural advancements
during its golden age. After the wars, Athens emerges as the center of all activity
amongst each city state in Greece. One of the key features within the Athenian
society was the arrangement of public assembly and the rule of the people,
democracy. In the assemblies, any male citizen could actively vote
`` The Hive `` By Marshall Poe And Small Change By

The way that people now communicate with each other has changed drastically in
the last 20 years. Technological devices like cell phones or computers that used to
be just accessories now became a must in our daily lives. A person cannot leave the
house without a phone since now the person might feel disconnected and
sometimes even lost. We now have the ability to communicate with people
thousands of miles away by just a few clicks. The quarrel is that this power made it
easier to connect us with people we love even if we never get to see them in real
life. In The Hive by Marshall Poe and Small Change by Malcolm Gladwell, both
authors talk about the advancement of communicationthrough social media. Poe
believes that social media revolutionize us as a community, yet Gladwell criticizes
it for being fake and not creating strong ties. Communication through social media
does not create strong ties between the people we are connected with, it creates a
deceitful sense of strength and interaction between people. It also alters an
individual s perception and makes it easy for people to show an image of
themselves that isn t who they really are. That is why people now a days even
though they may seem like they are more connected through social media outlets,
they really don t realize how week of a connection social media brings.
Sharing information before the advancement of the technology for communication
was a lot more difficult at one time. In the 18th century, a French

When I set out for my walk today, I had several very specific goals in mind. I wanted
to walk for about an hour, cover about 4 miles, and get some inspiration along with
fresh air. Based on my goals, I created a plan. I would drive to a large wooded
reservation near my home. I plotted the path I would take. I would start by walking
through the woods toward a paved path, do the loop on that path, and finally circle
back along the road to my car.
I parked my car and headed to the path that would take me through the wooded
area. It s right next to a dog park. There were five people walking with their dogs
along the path that I was about to turn onto. I don t have a dog and frankly, didn t
want the company. How was it that, before I even began, my plan wasn t working out

Psychodynamic Approach To Behaviourism Essay
Behaviourism, also known as the behaviouristic approach is based on several
underlying assumptions regarding methodology and behavioural analysis.
Behaviourists believe that psychology should be seen as a science and therefore
theories must be proved using controlled experiments whilst observing behaviour.
Behaviourism is mainly concerned with observable behaviour rather than internal
processes such as emotions. The psychodynamic approach to psychologyis in
complete contrast to that of the behavioural approach. Psychodynamic theorists look
for the causes of behaviour in a dynamic interplay of inner motivational forces that
often conflict with one another. They also suggest that many of these motivational
determinants of behaviour are unconscious... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As previously stated, behaviourists regard psychology as a science, therefore they
believe that assumptions and theories need to be tested and controlled in order to
examine the response. Behaviourism is not as concerned with internal events such
as thinking and emotion as it is with observable action. Behaviour can be explained
simply by the association between a stimulus and a response. There are both simple
stimuli and complex stimuli all of which bring about a response. Responses can be
explicit which refers to movements or actions which can be observed be
behaviourists, Watson states that responses can also be implicit, for example nerve
impulses which can also be observed by behaviourists with the use of the correct
equipment. Finally behaviourism is based on the theoretical assumption that
behaviour is learned through ones environment. This behaviour is learned through
classical or operant conditioning. Classical conditioning is the way in which an
organism learns to associate two stimuli such that one stimulus comes to elicit a
response that was originally elicited only by the other stimulus (Holt, 2012). Holt
describes operant learning as the way in which behaviour is influenced by
consequences that follow it (Holt,
Safety Rules For Forensic Labs
Forensic Labs are very important labs in law enforcement. Forensic labs can help
develop evidences, process evidences, provide leads, and most importantly, to help
investigators and detectives using these leads and evidence to identify the criminals
from the innocents. To be perfectly functional, each lab must obey its rules. Lab
rules are very important; however, if a lab s safety rules were broken, that would
lead to contamination of evidences, false leads, and most importantly injuries, or
deaths. After walking around the lab at UB campus, there were several important
rules were broken. First rule that was broken was the blockage of access to the only

Biohazard waste is very dangerous compared to the regular waste because its
contagious capabilities. For instance, a vial containing disease infected blood was
thrown into a regular trash can, it would not be properly process and spread the
disease. Biohazard wastes require special equipment to processed and disposed of,
such as autoclave for sterilization; therefore, without biohazard waste container,
hazardous material wouldn t be properly disposed of. To fix the problem, biohazard
waste container must be in the lab. The location of trash can, and glass container is
a great deal in the lab. They must not create a crowded working condition. In the lab,
the trash container, and glass container were placed in front of the GC mass spec

Advantages Of Interstellar Travel
The possibility of interstellar travel
Many people or even scientists claimed that interstellar travel is impossible. They
argue that it may take a spacecraft too much time to accelerate to a speed close to
the speed of light. Some people think other stars are too far, and it may take
hundreds or thousands of years to reach them. However, as we will show, these
arguments don t rule out the possibility of interstellar travel. In contrast, there are
possible method to travel to very far object in a person s life. We don t consider
some possible but still very unrealistic technologies like twisting spacetime.
Interstellar objects are very far. The closest star except the sun is Proxima, with a
distance of 4.27 light years. Many stars have a distance of hundreds or thousands
of light years. Some people think it impossible for a spacecraft to reach these stars
because any object cannot travel faster than light. 100 years is required for light to
reach an object that is 100 light years away, and it will take even more time for a
spacecraft to reach the object. However, the argument above doesn t take relativity
into account. There are two different reference frame for us to understand this
problem. First, for people live on earth, the time of an astronaut in the spacecraft
will slow down in such a high speed. For example, assume that a spacecraft travel at
a constant speed of 0.99c, and a star is 42 light years away as seen from the earth.
People live on earth think the

The Paramount Pursuit Of Fusion Energy Essay
Charles Miller McSwain Mary Anne Sanford DC Composition I 20 September
2016 The Paramount Pursuit of Fusion Energy The world is facing an energy
crisis that will cripple generations to come. The first part of the problem lies in the
damage caused by fossil fuel emission. Fossil fuels are the primary cause of the
phenomenon known as global warming, the gradual increase of ocean, atmosphere,
and surface temperatures. If this temperature trend continues, life on earth will
become much more difficult to maintain. The second part of the energy problem is
the decline of fossil fuels. When the fossil fuel deposits are depleted or become
obsolete, what will fill the energy void? Although many alternative energy sources
have been presented, nuclear fusion energy, the same energy that powers the stars,
is the only power source that can solve the energy problem. Global warming is a
serious issue affecting the modern world. This phenomenon is caused by increased
amounts of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere (Bradford). In fact, the atmosphere
now contains 40% more carbon dioxide than in the mid 1700 s ( Causes of Climate
Change ). The Greenhouse Effect, caused by gasses such as water vapor, carbon
dioxide, and methane, traps heat within the atmosphere that would normally be
reflected into space. The retention of heat is natural and has occurred since the earth s
formation; however, the retention rate has never increased so rapidly. This rapid
change, if allowed to continue,

(Gehner 110). Investment budget is allocated for every development stage and the

line with the development strategy. The internal and external parties will involve
other actors as well who would support the development of the project. The internal
parties are including project team which are coming from all the departments of the

obstacles which should be overcome in order to bring the project to fruition. To
bring the project to fruition, the issue of zoning in site analysis should not be
overlooked. The approval for rezoning should be obtained in order to avoid the
potential problems in the land investment. Moreover, the analysis of existing and

Supply Of Supply Chain Management
Supply Chain Management
Goal of a supply chain. According to Defining the Supply Chain, there are 5 specific
goals of supply chain management. They are as follows:
1.Achieve Efficient Fulfillment the purpose of supply chain management is to make
inventory readily available in customer facing positions to fulfill demand. The fresh
produce business adage you can t sell from an empty wagon highlights this
fundamental purpose of supply chain management . (Defining the Supply Chain)
Organizations must pursue the goal of matching supply with demand in a timely
fashion through the most efficient use of cross chain resources. Supply chain partners
must work together to maximize resource productivity, develop standardized
processes, eliminate duplicate efforts, and minimize inventory levels. Such steps will
help the organization reduce waste, drive out costs, and achieve efficiencies in the
supply chain.
2.Drive Customer Value Cost efficient fulfillment and inexpensive products are
important, but supply chain managers must also focus on value creation for their
customers. Customers are the lifeblood of the organization and create the need for a
supply chain. Hence, a fundamental objective in supply chain management must be to
consistently meet or exceed customer requirements.
The goal of driving customer value begins with a market driven customer service
strategy that is based on clearly understood customer requirements. Supply chain
strategies, design, and capabilities

evolutionary wise, it is an extremely vital reaction to situations today, in our society,
many situations that evoke the stress reaction can cause unnecessary side effects.
Therefore, many psychologists have developed theories and methods to explain and
help with stress.
The modern day definition of stress is a rather new concept that was coined by
Hans Selye just over 50 years ago. He defined stress as a non specific response by the
body to any demand for change. He also stated that stress was a physiological
response, of which are mainly automatic and via the nervous system and endocrine
system. Alternatively, the engineering model believes external stresses cause the
stress reaction/strain in the individual. Therefore, stress is what happens to the person
rather than a reaction to a situation. The clearest difference between the two
definitions is that Selye states stress is a response by the body whilst the engineering
model believes stress is the situation the person is in.
Selye created a theory to accompany his definition named The General Adaptation
Syndrome (GAS). In this theory, there are three phases that describe the body s
response to stress. The first phase is the Alarm stage, this takes place within the first
seconds or minutes of the stressor taking place. The body labels the stressor as a
threat or danger to the
Horror Films By Edgar Allen Poe, Bram Stoker And Marry
Shelly
Imagine you are at cinema. There is a lot of suspense and the scene, which you are
watching, is quite intense. It is a monster silently stalking his next victim. It
approaches closer and closer until it takes the victim with it s claws and rips apart,
ripping pones and spewing blood everywhere. That is a rather common description of
one of the most popular filmgenres today: Horror. Beginning roughly 100 years ago,
early horror films were based off of the writings of famous Gothic writers such as
Edgar Allen Poe, Bram Stoker and Marry Shelly. However, it was later when the
German Expressionism in the form of film dominated the industry, horror films
started to develop stronger and stronger. Horror movies are film genre, which
typically relates to two patterns as supernatural, massacre, violence and zombies.
Each movie genre has different special influences on the auditors and that influence,
in a situation of horror genre, is fear. This kind of film can simply understand as
movies that try to get a negative emotional reaction from the audience. Horror movies
affect our society and culture by the way they expose to audiences, how they
influence other entertainment genres, and how they can be used to portray the worst
in society.
First of all, horror movies expose audiences to new horrors and items, which they
usually do not see in everyday life. Audiences enjoy horror film because it allows
them to experience events or meet people they would never meet in their daily lives.
Saddle A Horse Saddle
Not everyone knows how to ride a horse, so that means not everyone knows how to
put a saddle on the horse so they can ride it. Saddling a horse if actually really easy
they just need to know how to do it. This is how to put a saddle on a horse. First,
before they can do anything else is to go and catch the horse. When they go to catch
the horse they will need a halter. When they catch the horse they will have to go to
the horse stall and tie him up. Finally they are able to start the saddling process.
First they will need to get a brush and brush all the dirt of him. The reason they need
to brush him off is because if they saddle him with dirt still on him it will make the
saddle uncomfortable, and this will increase the chance of him bucking
Social Resilience In Children
Resilience in Children Resiliency is described as a network of individual and
environmental risk and protective factors that predict an individual s tendency to
thrive under adverse conditions (Peters Woolley, 2015). It is also defined as the
dynamic process whereby individuals exhibit positive behavioral adaptations despite
significant adversity or trauma (Banatao, 2011). Resiliencecan be linked to many
factors such as socioeconomic status, race, gender, depression, violence, and
educational deficiencies. Developmental strategies of resilience can be effective in
helping leaders of schools overcome adversity. According to S. Colby Peters and
Michael E. Woolley, Graduation rates among middle school and high school students

Essay The Whole Town s Sleeping and Terribly Strange Bed
The Whole Town s Sleeping and Terribly Strange Bed
In this essay I will be comparing two (2) short stories The Whole
Town s sleeping by Ray Bradbury (1950) and A Terribly Strange Bed by Wilkie
Collins (1856). Both stories are about fear and they make us feel fear or are supposed
to; they make the reader scared or frightened. Both stories have the same purpose,
which is so scare the reader. I am going to compare the way Ray Bradbury and Wilkie
Collins create tension, suspense, mood and tone.
In the first few lines of The Whole Town s Sleeping , the author describes the
setting for the story, the little town was deep far away from everything, kept to
itself by a river and a forest and a ravine , but before that he ... Show more content on

A Terribly Strange Bed , however is different, as the author seems to create a
different mood and tone in the openings to the story. He uses words like rather a wild
life , delightful city of our sojourn , idling about , and splendid city . In A Terribly
Strange Bed the city in which the story is set, is praised in the story, although not
really mentioned much delightful city of our sojourn it doesn t seem to play a large
part in the story and doesn t seem to be anything special. However in The Whole
Town s sleeping , quite the opposite is the case, the first two paragraphs (half the
page) are all about the setting and this is very important to the mood and tone of the
story without it, you might not believe that a madman could run around killing
people for months without being caught.
Tension and Suspense are also very important in both stories. Tension is built up a
little at the beginning of The Whole Town s sleeping , before the women find the
body and its unexpected. The main excitement of the story is at the end, when
Lavinia is running through the ravine. The tension is build up using sentences that
get shorter and shorter, so that you read them faster and faster until the last
sentences are only a couple of words long and the reader is getting really excited.
Then when Lavinia reaches the house and locks the door, the reader feels the relief
that the
Swot Analysis of Network Rail Essay
SWOT Analysis Strengths: Network Rail took over ownership by buying Railtrack

All Quiet On The Western Front Symbolism Essay
In the novel All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque the reader sees
World War One from a German s perspective. The main character Paul Bäumer joins
German forces after with his friend. The main character Paul Baumer goes through
many difficulties and struggles in time of War. The author suggests that symbols give
a better understanding of the brutality of war through butterflies, boots, and women.
Firstly, in the novel All Quiet on the Western Frontthe reader will see words in the
text that symbolise other things besides it s own meaning. The first important symbol
of this novel is butterfly. Butterfly is memory about Paul s childhood and how he
used to collect different types of insects and put them in a case. One morning two
butterflies play in front of our trench. They are brimstone butterflies, with red spots
on their yellow wings. What can they be looking for here? There is not a plant nor
a flower for miles. They settle on the teeth of a skull. The birds too are just as
carefree, they have long since accustomed themselves to the war. (Remarque, 128).
This quote is important in two ways, one is that Paul remembers his childhood
memories, and things that he used to experience when he was young. Paul thinks that
after the war he will enjoy his life again with his friends, obviously he won t catch the
butterflies, but he will do different things with his friends. The second reason why it s
important the plot,is that he doesn t understand how they
Comparing Glasser s Getting Together And Staying Together
This article tells you what to do in your relationships to replace the destructive habits
with more healthy ones. Dr. William Glasser in his book, Getting Together and
Staying Together, writes about the Caring Relationship Habits of listening, trusting,
supporting, encouraging, respecting, accepting and negotiating differences. These are
not as simple as they sound. This month we will look at the first four and I will
follow up in December with the final three.
Listening is the first one because I think it is a great place to start. You may already
think you listen and perhaps you do but the level of listening I am speaking of relates
to not just hearing your partner, but truly trying to understand where he or she is
coming from. You are listening for understanding. You wantto know how it is they
see things the way they do. You may not agree with their perception but you want to
try to at least understand it from where they come from, in their shoes and in their
skin.

The History Of Gangs In Chicago
Gangs in Chicago go hand and hand because of the rich history this topic has to
offer. Coincidence? One may think not. In the time of famous mobster, Al Capone,
gangs in Chicago were just evolving but did not live up to the names they have
today. This includes their literal name, gangs , and the reputation they have today.
However, groups similar to these of today have been around since the beginning of
time, and not until after Al Capone did these groups get their name of gang(s) .
Before they were just known as mobs . These sort of gangs were groups that had
similar interests, backgrounds and goals they had in common. However, there is a
difference between them then and now, but there are similar characteristics as well.
The makeup of gangs today seem to have the same consistent patterns in terms of
people who join, how they join, and where they join.... Show more content on

People seem to struggle to understand the concept of gangs. There are a lot of
strange factors that go into the makeup of gangs. Yes, there are no positive aspects
of gangs, but those negative aspects have reasons as to why they are so negative. It
is the people who join, that make gangs so threatening. Men and women who join
are trying to get away or rebel from someone or something. They may feel that
joining a gang will give them the security of a family . Those who join are so broken
that they try to put the pieces together when joining a gang. This has been the case
throughout U.S.
The Julius Caesar
Julius Caesar is the one of the famous Roman generals. Many may recognize this
name from the great works of Shakespeare. Before the great works of Shakespeare,
Julius Caesar was famous in his Roman city which. Julius Caesar was a dictator that
turned the Roman republic to the Roman Empire. Even though the life time of Julius
Caesartook place in 100 BC 44 BC, people everywhere will mention Caesar s name
and legacy. For starters, Julius Caesar s time was very different from today life.
People did not get married because they were in love with the each other most of
the time. The reason people in Roman time got married was for perfect children.
Babies that were not fit or unhealthy during this time would be thrown out and left
for dead. According to Phillip Freeman, Roman families had to keep the first girl
that is born and all healthy boys. (Freeman 23). During this time there were no public
schools, only private schools and tutors that came to the house. Julius Caesar had a
tutor who taught him and is sisters. Children that did not behave during this time
would be whipped by their teachers (Freeman 24). When boys turned 15 or 16 they
would be considered an adult. Another thing different about this time is that
crucifixions took place. Caesar would do crucifixions to pirates (Freeman 40).
Crucifixions would start off with a man being flogged, humiliated, and weakened.
After being beaten the criminal would

Therefore, it is necessary to introduce the artificial pinning centers (APCs) into the
YBCO films. At present, a lot of attempts have been taken for the improvement of
JC, such as substrate surface decoration, impurity addition, and RE addition or
substitution. A substantial amount of work in recent years has been focused on
the introduction of artificial pinning defects by a self assembly process such as
BaZrO3, BaSnO3, BaIrO3, BaHfO3 and Ba2YNbO6[5] defects. Nanophase
additions can also be classified as one, two, and three dimensional artificial pinning
centers (1D APC, 2D APC, 3D APC). 1D APC s display linear defects, and include
BSO and BZO nanorods. 2D APC s display planar defects, and include small angle
grain boundaries, anti phase boundaries, and surfaces of large precipitates.3D APC s
result from nano particles, such as Y2O3[4].
The key driving force for alignment of such BZO nanodots into columns oriented
along the c axis is the minimization of the misfit strain arising from
the lattice mismatch of BZO with YBCO. In other words, a certain minimum level of
misfit strain provides the necessary driving force for self assembly to occur. We have
recently found that lattice mismatches in the range of 5 12 % generates adequate
misfit strains required for the self assembly[6]. The experimental and simulation
results showed that lattice mismatches below this range do not result in enough misfit
strains and hence no
Workplace Stress Among The Employee
Workplace Stress among the Employee in Insurance sector: A study 1.Introduction
Stress is a part of daily living. It is an adaptive response. Stress occurs at the
workplace when there is a mismatch between the expectations of the employee
and demand of the employer. Stress basically reduces a person s ability to perform
and think differently which is bad for every firm. Many researches have been done
which concluded that stressed out managers are not good for the organization.
From the individual s point of view stress is our body s physical, mental and
chemical reactions to the circumstances that confuse, endanger or irritate us. If this
stress is controlled, it becomes a friend which give strength to us but if handled
poorly it becomes an enemy which can cause many diseases like blood pressure,
asthma, thyroid, ulcer etc. Stress is the output of modern lifestyles. There can be
basically 3 levels of stress If the stress is at the optimum level Individual will
perform well to his full capacity. If it is more than the optimum level Negative
response, individual can suffer from health problems. If it is less than the optimum
level Individual gets bored from his work, which reduces his efficiency. Stress can
have positive as well as negative effects. If the individual can manage the stress then
it will have a positive effect as it will help

Suppose it is a nice sunny day, and you decide to linger in the sun; after a few
minutes you may feel thirsty and you look for some refreshment. It can be said that
this situation triggers two situations ; on the one hand there is a physical process: the
body s reaction to heat, and on the other hand, there is a mental effect : the experience
of heat like being thirsty. The relationship between the two situations has been the
source of many debates within philosophy. One name for this entire group of debates
is the mind body problem ; this name suggests a problem of separation and dualism.
Dualism shall be claimed, it is an intuitive position; it offers an explanation of the
mind and body in terms of substances (Descartes, 1641) or properties (Strawson,
1959), in which the mind is somehow considered as a non physical thing, thus
separated from the physical world. In contrast, a rival view is that there are only
physical things, hence there is no separation between mind and body as suggested by
dualism, and that the mind is most accurately described in physical terms. (One
physicalist view is the identity theory (Place, 1956, Smart, 1959))
So as not to prejudge these problems it may be better to

The Idea, By Raymond Carver And The Death Of Justina
In both postmodernism short stories, The Idea, by Raymond Carver and The
Death of Justina, by John Cheever, the authors critique middle class and suburban
values. In the 1950 s 1960 s the United States and the Soviet Union were at
international conflict, which caused the Pro American/anti communist defense line
in America. In order not to get hunted down by the FBI the family units needed to
project that they were good guys by living in a suburban community with the
traditional roles of the dad working and the mother staying home with the children.
The authors in the two short stories exemplified the erroneous lifestyle that
America was forced to portray by showing the ramifications by suppression of
individuality, the symbolic idea everything is not what it seems, and the anxieties
of material wealth. In The Death of Justina , John Cheever made it clear that the
narrator and his wife were just an idea of a happy marriage and did not truly
connect. When the narrator stopped smoking he told his wife that he quit and she
didn t seem to care and who would reward me for my privations (Cheever)? This
scenario demonstrates the lack of relation between the two spouses which was
Cheever s main critique of monogamy and heterosexual marriages that had to be
present in order to be Pro American. Cheever, living in this time period, made a
determined effort to repress his homosexual impulses and lead a conventional middle
class life for the most part successfully, at least
Walter Dean Myers Bad Boy
Walter Dean Myers memoir Bad Boy is about how he traveled back to his past.
This book that he wrote is, funny, and unforgettable. As a boy, Myers had a quick
temper, was physically strong, and was always ready for a fight. He also read
voraciously, as he would check out books from the library and carry them home,
hidden in brown paper bags in order to avoid other boys teasing. He aspired to be a
writer. The central idea of this book is courage because he had the courage to join
the military. According to Myers stepping out of your comfort zone could turn into
one of the best decisions you could ve made (21). I believe he said that because he
too stepped out of his comfort and went into the military to really find himself. It
took courage for him to be able to do that. Myers also said that anyone can do
anything they set their mind to (29). That quote from the book really showed
during his second grade year. Him and his family found out he had a speech
problem, and everyone thought that he wouldn t do good throughout school, but
he did. Another quote that he said was to never give up on what you want in life
(32). That quote goes toward how in the book he got called on to read in front of
the whole class. Even though he didn t say the words as well while reading, he still
did it and stayed positive. After that he stated, you can just sit there or do something
(41). I think that was said to him in the book because he used to never wanna join a
game with other kids

The Absolute Center of an Absolute KingпїЅ An analytical summary of Louis Marin

April 22, 2010 Introduction Louis XIV s France was an absolute monarchy, meaning
the king had the power, control, finances and the nation in his hands more then ever
before. In the 17th century, France was the strongest and wealthiest nation in Europe,
and the head of the state, the king, was the most influential person of the time. In the

In the sense of origin it can represent differentiating as one comes from a good
place or is connected to it. What does this all mean? It can be something that is
extraordinary and requires respect. Places that imply stability and produce laws.
Looking further we face the problem of space as such. It is something that is
animated by the movements within it or the effect produced by operations of its
orientation. If place is location then space is the dimensions of it, the position in
which the palace was constructed. Space is more of a three dimensional term
because it is determined by the operations which specify it. Considering this we
still need to keep in mind that Louis XIV in his palace is immobile and a sovereign
figure who beams eternity and unchangeability. This is where we understand the
importance of the place related to the absolutism of the king. And while space is
rather linked to an action or a process of history, place is the conclusion of the entire
action. Simply put space is the largeness of the palace complex. It is what, after
realizing the importance of the location, amazes the traveler. The third component is
event, which is a result of a project. It is the outcome of an action and therefore is
closely related to place in a sense that both conclude a momentum. It can be a
momentous thing, surprising and singular. In the seventeenth century, baroque
helped to raise this event even higher. With all the

Fourth generation Kia Rio rolls out.
Demand for small cars is down, but don t tell that to Kia Motors. The Korean

After spending many hours behind the wheel of the Rio, I can say that seat comfort

there is that attribute. Kudos to Kia for supplying the Rio sedan with such a large
trunk 13.7 cubic feet, although I think the utility of the hatchback would suit most
people.
You ll find soft touch materials, plastic surfaces and brightwork trim throughout the
Rio s cabin. Texturized surfaces provide a pleasing appearance I like what
automakers such as Kia have done to give extra attention to their smallest models.
Low cost shouldn t mean cheap.

If there is an inherent weakness with the Kia Rio, it has been the compact s safety

Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in three categories: moderate overlap front, roof
strength, and head restraints seats. In side testing, the Rio picked up an acceptable
score; in small overlap front testing the score was marginal.

In the case of the Office of Fair Trading v Abbey National Lord Phillips stated I
think personally I would have been quite in favour of the OFT looking into bank
charges, if I had complete freedom to decide.... but the statute said it was not
within their terms of reference Lord Phillips makes it very clear that decisions in
cases are tied to legal rules, however what is the role of legal rules in judicial
decision making? There are different schools of thought with regards to that
question. This essay will explore those differences. Firstly we shall consider the
perspectives of the formalists, what was their view of applying rules. Continuing
onto the American Legal Realists views, assumptions and looking at their two
main critiques of formalism, rule and fact scepticism. We shall also review the
theories of H.L.A. Hart regarding the application of legal rules. By analysing some
modern day cases and examples we will further compare and contrast formalism,
realism and Hart. Finally we shall review aspects of the essay and draw
conclusions. Formalists were legal theorists of the late 19th century. Formalism
was regarded as a way of a mechanical interpretation of the law. Using syllogism, a
logical process, judges selected an appropriate legal rule. This was applied
rationally to the facts of the case and from this a conclusion was objectively
deduced. This was regarded as a scientific process removing subjectivity where the
correct decisions were inherent

The Bourne Identity Critical Analysis Essay
A sense of belonging will often emerge from the connections made with people,
places, groups, communities, and the larger world. The Bourne Identity is a novel,
written by Robert Ludlum. The main character in this novel is Jason Bourne, a
broken man, not only in the physical, but also in the emotional and psychological
sense. Throughout the entire novel we see a man who is attempting to put the
pieces of his life back together after suffering from a sudden onset of amnesia.
There are several ways that this text relates to belonging and not belonging, all of
which become increasingly obvious as the novel progresses. Through the loss of
memory every aspect of an individual s sense of belonging is completely removed,
and as Bournestruggles... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You came for me. You came back for me, and saved ... my ... life. This extreme turn
of events creates a connection between Bourne and Marie, one that time develops into
a very close and intimate relationship. She knew Jason Bourne, or the man called
Jason Bourne, and she held on to the decency she knew was there. Oh, God, how
she loved him so! . And then he would leave; she would never know when and he
could never tell her why. He owed her that; it would hurt deeply for a while, but the
ultimate pain would be far less than that caused by the stigma of Cain. Cain! Marie.
Marie! What have I done? This is an example of a narrative technique used
throughout the text. The author uses italics to show what Bourne is thinking, in
doing this a deeper connection is created between the reader and the character, by
revealing how Bourne really feels. This technique is used in other instances to show
Bourne s raw emotion and distress.
A man in the text know only as Carlos is another individual of whom Bourne has a
deep connection with. However, this connection and the sense of belonging that is
derived from it, is of a very different nature, to the one he shares with Marie. Carlos
is a central figure in Bourne s fragmented memory, however he cannot place where,
how or why he knows this man. Again the narrative technique using italics to show
Bourne s thoughts is used. Carlos. Find Carlos! God in heaven, why? Delta.

A forced landing was subsequently made in a field, where the airplane collided with
a utility pole and landed in a ditch. An examination of the engine revealed no
evidence of mechanical failure or malfunction. An icing probability chart revealed
that the reported weather conditions in the area were favorable for the formation of
moderate carburetor icing at cruise power. The Cessna 172M owner s manual notes
that a gradual loss in rpm and eventual engine roughness may result from the
formation of carburetor ice and prescribes the use of carburetor heat to clear the ice.
(Civil Aviation Authority, 2006).
Structural Icing: The previous report refers to induction icing within the engine, but
other forms of icing attach to the exterior of the aircraft called structural icing .

clouds or liquid precipitation when the skin temperature of the aircraft is equal to, or
less than 0 deg C (Lester, 2004).
Types of Structural Icing: Structural icing takes on many forms depending on the
size of the moisture that comes in contact with the aircraft. The types of structural
ice are clear, rime and a combination of the two. The primary concern over even the
slightest amount of structural ice is the loss of aerodynamic efficiency. The increase
in drag caused by the additional ice also causes an increase in stall speed, instability
and a decrease in
Dr. Martin Luther King
The United States has had countless influential leaders. Most of our praised leaders
have risen in times of depression, and in eras when we lacked the ability to come
together for ourselves. Dr. Martin Luther King was and will forever be
remembered as one of the greatest leaders in American history for his public
speaking skills that united millions during the civil rights movement. Born on
January 15, 1929 in Atlanta Georgia, Dr. King was raised in a family of prominent
pastors. He later followed in his families footsteps and became the third member to
become a pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. He followed his Father and
grandfather by attending Morehouse College, which is a historically black
university. He later attended Boston College where he received his doctorate
degree and met his wife Coretta Scott who was his partner in his civil rights
campaign. He was an executive committee member on the NAACP board, and led
a 382 day boycott of the Montgomery Alabama bus system. In his lifetime he gave
over 2,500 speeches and wrote 5 books about the issues in regard to civil rights. He is
most famous for his I have a dream speech at the Lincoln memorial in which
spotlighted his dreams for blacks and all Americans to receive equal rights. He went
on to receive honors such as the Nobel Piece Prize, and man of the year awards. In
1968 he was in Memphis Tennessee for a civil march where he was assassinated
outside the Lorraine Motel at just age 39. Dr. King was
Group Collaboration Analysis
Group work and collaboration is an opportunity for every nurse to expand their
resources and make impacts on a large scale in their community. This final project of
the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) has provided the opportunity to collaborate
with individuals, groups and public health organizations to address a need in the
community. The following will include an assessment of the group process utilizing
the four stages of forming, storming, norming and performing as identified by
Connery and Vohs (2006). An assessment of the collaboration with the Medical
Reserve Corp and the Pierce County HealthDepartment will also be evaluated. My
personal roles and contributions will be discussed along with my perception of the

Before the group begins discussing the project, everyone has a chance to discuss any
personal stories or information they want to share. Personal information has included
birthdays, impending births and how everyone spent their weekends. Even though the
group members were fairly acquainted, this has provided opportunities for further
relationship development. Connery and Vohs (2006) comment that groups attempt to
alleviate tensions or anxiety by diving into the project and bypassing relationships.
By spending a little time at the beginning of each meeting, our group have been able
to work through any existing anxiety and gain insight into what is important and
influential to the other group
To Give Up On Words Silence In Western Apache Culture
Summary
Introduction
Keith H. Basso s ethnographic research titled, To Give up on Words: Silence in
Western Apache Culture is an investigation of situations when members of a certain
Apache community in the western United States assume the state of silence as a
form of social interaction. In this paper, I will first note details of the society under
consideration and Basso s interests in regards to the questions he is trying to answer.
I will introduce some anthropological concepts that are suitable to the discussion,
followed by Basso s observations regarding silence in the Apache community,
including his methods, arguments, and conclusion. Finally, I will evaluate Basso s
findings and deduce if the evidence supports the conclusion made; I will ... Show

A group of gowД…Д…s then combine to form a gotД…Д…, which is described by
Basso as spatially localized clusters. In the Cibecue community, rituals and traditions
still carry great importance and play a significant role in communication, despite
intervention from Anglo missionaries to modernize the community. A major part of
Basso s interests in the Cibecue community is to study the role of silence in a
community where focused gatherings are a common mode of public communication.
He looks to examine situations where silence becomes the appropriate
communicative process and the reasons why it is considered so. Moreover, these
situations of silence only occur during a certain period or circumstance that is
defined by tradition as well as experience. Another factor in Basso s interest is to
define what human emotion determines the decision to remain silent in a particular
situation. A discussion of Basso s definition of the term situation will be provided in
the next section.
Contextual Concepts In order to completely understand the arguments put forth by
Basso in his research, it is vital to understand the concept that communication occurs
with or without the usage of speech, and in this case through silence. Although the
people engaged in this silence are not communicating directly per se, the silence is an
acknowledgement of their presence. Interpersonal communication, which occurs face
to face, employs three main technical components: a code (an

Collegiate Athletics Vs. Indiana State University Board Of...
Collegiate athletics is growing each day and the athletes are becoming faster,
stronger, and quicker each day. As the competition on the field improves, the risk of
injury also becomes more of a possibility. While strength and conditioning coaches
have created athletes who are able to withstand more physical play and can rehab
quicker from injury, they have also created monsters on the playing field and court.
As collegiate athletics grows into a multibillion dollar industry, the players expect to
have more benefits available to them, including workers compensation. We have seen
a variety of situations arise recently were players are looking to secure their own
safety when playing such physical games.
In 1976, a football student athlete at Indiana State University suffered an injury that
left him as a quadriplegic. In 1983, the case Rensing v. Indiana State University
Board of Trustees was heard by the Indiana State Supreme Court. The court decided
that the Indiana court of appeals incorrectly concluded that Rensing was an employee
under the Workmen s Compensation Act and therefore Indiana State University was
not responsible to provide Rensing with any medical or disability expenses. It is a
requirement of the NCAA for every athlete to carry health insurance and to provide
health insurance to those athletes who are not able to provide their own health
insurance. It is also highly recommended that NCAA institutions carry additional
health care insurance for their

1. Describe the current distribution system of the company and explain why it is so
important for its brand positioning? Please explain also how the brand is positioned
on international markets. Chateau Margaux s current distribution system is
completely traditional, which means that it is handled by the specialized and
independent merchants. The merchants are a major part of the distribution system for
the Chateau Margaux s wines. Besides the responsibility for the distribution of wine,
the merchants also have other significant roles, for instance ... Show more content on

Chateau Margaux is one of the five first growth Bordeaux wine producer; it and has
one of the finest names of Bordeaux and the number of drinkers worldwide is
growing through the years. Chateau Margaux s wines are used by the connoisseurs
and luxury consumers. They are facing an uncertain future, because of losing market
to New World producers (such as California, Australia, South Africa and New
Zealand) which have lower prices and more accessible flavours. Nowadays wine
drinkers are changing tastes, which could cause a big problem. 1. Explain and argue
whether current distribution system should be changed or not. If yes, how? If not,
why not? Be specific as possible and use financial data to support your argument. I am
going to defend the statement that current distribution system should not be changed.
Present system has advantages as well disadvantages, but in my opinion the benefits
dominate. The main factors that prove the current distribution model is the right one
are: (1) security of high1 quality3 wine2, (2) differentiation of the margin price
between the retail price and the merchants is not high, (3) Chateau Margaux has not
got neither the skills nor education to take care of merchant s job and many others.
They do not have their own distribution system because they put the responsibility

A player would get a penalty kick because the other player had done something to
the other players. We do throw in football because the ball has been kicked out of
the pitch. A goal kick is a kick that the goalkeeper takes when the ball passes over
the goal line or back line. Corner happened because the other team had the ball off.
Badminton.... A match is the best of 3 games each of 21 points. A point is scored
with every serve. When a side is winning a rally a point is added to their score.
When both sides get to 20, the side that gains a 2 point lead wins. When both sides
reach 29, the side that gets to 30 first wins. Single rule: When the person serving
has an odd score, they serve from the left; an even score they serve from the right.
In singles, when a rally is won, the person who served wins the point then serves
from the other service court. If the person who did not serve wins the rally, they win
the point and then get to serve.A badminton court look like a rectangle and it had a

Describe Your Neighborhood Essay. My neighborhood essay topics. The Problems of My Neighbourhood. 2022 ...

  • 1. Describe Your Neighborhood Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "Describe Your Neighborhood" may seem deceptively simple at first glance, but delving into the task reveals its inherent challenges. The difficulty arises not from a lack of personal experiences or observations but rather from the intricate balance required to capture the essence of one's neighborhood in a coherent and engaging manner. Firstly, the challenge lies in avoiding clichГ©s and generic descriptions that fail to provide a vivid picture of the neighborhood. It demands a keen observational eye to discern the unique characteristics that set the neighborhood apart. Balancing the portrayal of positive aspects with any challenges or complexities adds an additional layer of complexity, requiring a nuanced approach to present a realistic and well-rounded depiction. Furthermore, there's the challenge of finding the right words to convey the sensory details that make the neighborhood come alive for the reader. Describing the sights, sounds, smells, and even the intangible sense of community poses a linguistic challenge, as it requires a writer to transcend mere description and create a sensory experience through words. Structuring the essay is another hurdle. Deciding on the sequence of events or features to highlight, organizing thoughts coherently, and maintaining a smooth flow from one idea to the next demand careful planning and execution. Striking a balance between vivid imagery and concise expression adds yet another layer of intricacy. Finally, the personal nature of the topic can make it challenging to strike the right tone. Avoiding sentimentality or over-romanticization while still conveying a genuine affection for the neighborhood is a delicate balancing act. In conclusion, while the topic of "Describe Your Neighborhood" may seem straightforward, the process of transforming personal experiences into a well-crafted essay is a complex endeavor. It requires a thoughtful approach to detail, structure, and tone to successfully convey the unique character of one's surroundings. For those seeking assistance with such essays or any other writing challenges, resources like HelpWriting.net offer a variety of services. • 3. Humor And Lust In The Miller s Tale Geoffrey Chaucer makes an interesting case in The Miller s Tale. He makes readers wonder if all the characters got what they deserved. Did John deserve to break both his arms and lose his wife? Did Nicholas deserve to get a blisstered bum? Did Absolon deserve to be farted on? He uses humor and lust to make a mockery of The Knight s Tale told before The Miller s Tale. A noble tale followed by a vulgar tale. John a very gullible and innocent carpenter is married to a beautiful 18 year old who he knows will make him a cuckold. In The Miller s Tale, Nicholas tells John, There ll be a fall of rain so fierce a spate Even Noah s Flood was never half so great. (89). John believes that because Nicholas can supposedly tell if it will rain or not.
  • 4. The Strong Urge Of Life Of Pi Jaideep Bajaj Mrs. Jones ENG 2D0 C 15 January, 2015 From Novel to Film: The Strong Urge to Survive in Life of Pi The will to live is a strong urge of survival that occurs when one s life is threatened. The novel and film Life of Pi is about a boy named Piscine Molitor Patel who is lost in the middle of the Pacific Ocean due to a shipwreck with a 450 pound Bengal Tiger. The theme that fits the novel and film the best is the will to live. The novel and film effectively prove the theme by using symbols to portray how badly Pi wants to live. Characterization also plays an important role in proving the theme as the novel and book show how Pi and his tiger have to change themselves to live. Cinematic techniques such as different types of camera angles are used as well to prove that the will to live is the essential theme in the film. In the novel, Yann Martel shows how the camera angles prove what they prove. The film and novel Life of Pi effectively capture the theme of the will to live by the effective use of symbolism, characterization, and cinematic techniques. To start off, the novel Life of Pi displays hope and survival through symbolism using the colour orange. While Pi is in the ocean, there is orange all around him. Shortly after Pi falls into the ocean and is swimming, he says that the ocean is black and cold and in rage (Martel 117). As one can imagine, it s almost impossible to survive in an ocean that is in rage but he gets onto the life boat and survives. After he

  • 6. Busn115 Week3 Assignment BUSN115_Week3_Assignment Scenario: To open a Lemonade Stand in your local neighborhood. Its summer time and the most important thing in hot weather is the need to quench your thirst. What is a better drink then a refreshing Lemonade. Since long I was very much interested in opening a lemonade stand, which I finally decided to have it implemented before the summer season starts. After a lot of research and hard work I have come up with a business model that would work efficiently in generating revenue and also help local community. Brand: The brand name that I came up with is a catchy and trendy word which I think represents the product and justifies the product s need in hot season. The brand name would be GO COOL Real Lemonade. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pricing Strategy: Since the Lemonade business depends on lemon and sugar, our company will have to keep an eye on the stock needed and the availability of the two item locally and internationally. Even though the business will be at the peak in summer and will slow down in winter, a close monitoring on the international prices is a must. The future plan of the company is to expand in other continents by giving out franchise. So if it winter in US we generate business revenue from countries like Australia and New Zealand where they would have summer. To keep standard pricing and profit margin for the franchises, a detailed costing would be required. The things that are needed to be considered would be Cost of Lemon, Cost of Sugar, Cost of water, Cost of container, 10% overheads (labor, rent, utilities, etc), 5% franchisingfee and 7% profit margin. In addition to this pricing 2% price fluctuation will be added to the cost. With this calculation the company and the franchises should make enough money to survive in the competitive market. Global Market: Even though the product can be packed in a container and can be sold globally, I would prefer to have local franchises so that we can provide pure and authentic lemonade without preservatives as we promised. Also, opening a franchise will give local people employment, which is also a way to give back to the community. If we stick to the plans and ethics, I think our company has a bright future

But what is more important is that it should present reality truthfully and defend human values artistically. It should envision a society where people can live a better life. Yeats did just that. The greatness of his poetry lies in the fact that it interprets the contemporary political events within the framework of a philosophical system. All the great poets speak of people and rise above the petty politics of their class. The cross the boundary of politics and enter into the realm of philosophy. Yeats too rose above the ephemerality of politics and made an attempt to achieve permanence in poetry by following the philosophical system. Being from an Anglo Irish family, he could have easily gone to the English side but what he chose was to represent the repressed Irish people. He was a nationalist but he spoke of all nations colonized by the British. He had a special sympathy for India. As a poet he was concerned with human values and believed that there should be a proper balance between the matter and

  • 12. `` The Hive `` By Marshall Poe And Small Change By Malcolm... The way that people now communicate with each other has changed drastically in the last 20 years. Technological devices like cell phones or computers that used to be just accessories now became a must in our daily lives. A person cannot leave the house without a phone since now the person might feel disconnected and sometimes even lost. We now have the ability to communicate with people thousands of miles away by just a few clicks. The quarrel is that this power made it easier to connect us with people we love even if we never get to see them in real life. In The Hive by Marshall Poe and Small Change by Malcolm Gladwell, both authors talk about the advancement of communicationthrough social media. Poe believes that social media revolutionize us as a community, yet Gladwell criticizes it for being fake and not creating strong ties. Communication through social media does not create strong ties between the people we are connected with, it creates a deceitful sense of strength and interaction between people. It also alters an individual s perception and makes it easy for people to show an image of themselves that isn t who they really are. That is why people now a days even though they may seem like they are more connected through social media outlets, they really don t realize how week of a connection social media brings. Sharing information before the advancement of the technology for communication was a lot more difficult at one time. In the 18th century, a French

I wanted to walk for about an hour, cover about 4 miles, and get some inspiration along with fresh air. Based on my goals, I created a plan. I would drive to a large wooded reservation near my home. I plotted the path I would take. I would start by walking through the woods toward a paved path, do the loop on that path, and finally circle back along the road to my car. I parked my car and headed to the path that would take me through the wooded area. It s right next to a dog park. There were five people walking with their dogs along the path that I was about to turn onto. I don t have a dog and frankly, didn t want the company. How was it that, before I even began, my plan wasn t working out right? Behaviourists believe that psychology should be seen as a science and therefore theories must be proved using controlled experiments whilst observing behaviour. Behaviourism is mainly concerned with observable behaviour rather than internal processes such as emotions. The psychodynamic approach to psychologyis in complete contrast to that of the behavioural approach. Psychodynamic theorists look for the causes of behaviour in a dynamic interplay of inner motivational forces that often conflict with one another. As previously stated, behaviourists regard psychology as a science, therefore they believe that assumptions and theories need to be tested and controlled in order to examine the response. Behaviourism is not as concerned with internal events such as thinking and emotion as it is with observable action. Behaviour can be explained simply by the association between a stimulus and a response. There are both simple stimuli and complex stimuli all of which bring about a response. Responses can be explicit which refers to movements or actions which can be observed be behaviourists, Watson states that responses can also be implicit, for example nerve impulses which can also be observed by behaviourists with the use of the correct equipment. Finally behaviourism is based on the theoretical assumption that behaviour is learned through ones environment. This behaviour is learned through classical or operant conditioning. Classical conditioning is the way in which an organism learns to associate two stimuli such that one stimulus comes to elicit a response that was originally elicited only by the other stimulus (Holt, 2012). Holt describes operant learning as the way in which behaviour is influenced by consequences that follow it (Holt,

  • 16. Advantages Of Interstellar Travel The possibility of interstellar travel Many people or even scientists claimed that interstellar travel is impossible. They argue that it may take a spacecraft too much time to accelerate to a speed close to the speed of light. Some people think other stars are too far, and it may take hundreds or thousands of years to reach them. However, as we will show, these arguments don t rule out the possibility of interstellar travel. In contrast, there are possible method to travel to very far object in a person s life. We don t consider some possible but still very unrealistic technologies like twisting spacetime. Interstellar objects are very far. The closest star except the sun is Proxima, with a distance of 4.27 light years. Many stars have a distance of hundreds or thousands of light years. Some people think it impossible for a spacecraft to reach these stars because any object cannot travel faster than light. 100 years is required for light to reach an object that is 100 light years away, and it will take even more time for a spacecraft to reach the object. However, the argument above doesn t take relativity into account. There are two different reference frame for us to understand this problem. First, for people live on earth, the time of an astronaut in the spacecraft will slow down in such a high speed. For example, assume that a spacecraft travel at a constant speed of 0.99c, and a star is 42 light years away as seen from the earth. People live on earth think the

Stones were placed within the heap. The fire was then set and the burning wood took about three hours to heat the stones. When the stones where white hot they were transferred to the bottom of the pit and a damp sack was laid on the rocks and the wire baskets were placed on top of the damp sack. More sacks were put on top of the baskets and the whole lot was quickly covered in soil to prevent the stones cooling. The food baskets were prepared with individual meal portions wrapped in foil. Chicken, lamb, pork and beef were the meat options with vegetables included kumara, potato, pumpkin, cabbage and fresh salads. A dessert of steam pudding was also cooked in the hangi. The Paramount Pursuit Of Fusion Energy Essay Charles Miller McSwain Mary Anne Sanford DC Composition I 20 September 2016 The Paramount Pursuit of Fusion Energy The world is facing an energy crisis that will cripple generations to come. The first part of the problem lies in the damage caused by fossil fuel emission. Fossil fuels are the primary cause of the phenomenon known as global warming, the gradual increase of ocean, atmosphere, and surface temperatures. If this temperature trend continues, life on earth will become much more difficult to maintain. The second part of the energy problem is the decline of fossil fuels. When the fossil fuel deposits are depleted or become obsolete, what will fill the energy void? Although many alternative energy sources have been presented, nuclear fusion energy, the same energy that powers the stars, is the only power source that can solve the energy problem. Global warming is a serious issue affecting the modern world. This phenomenon is caused by increased amounts of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere (Bradford). In fact, the atmosphere now contains 40% more carbon dioxide than in the mid 1700 s ( Causes of Climate Change ). The Greenhouse Effect, caused by gasses such as water vapor, carbon dioxide, and methane, traps heat within the atmosphere that would normally be reflected into space. The retention of heat is natural and has occurred since the earth s formation; however, the retention rate has never increased so rapidly. This rapid change, if allowed to continue,

  • 20. Supply Of Supply Chain Management Supply Chain Management Goal of a supply chain. According to Defining the Supply Chain, there are 5 specific goals of supply chain management. They are as follows: 1.Achieve Efficient Fulfillment the purpose of supply chain management is to make inventory readily available in customer facing positions to fulfill demand. The fresh produce business adage you can t sell from an empty wagon highlights this fundamental purpose of supply chain management . (Defining the Supply Chain) Organizations must pursue the goal of matching supply with demand in a timely fashion through the most efficient use of cross chain resources. Supply chain partners must work together to maximize resource productivity, develop standardized processes, eliminate duplicate efforts, and minimize inventory levels. Such steps will help the organization reduce waste, drive out costs, and achieve efficiencies in the supply chain. 2.Drive Customer Value Cost efficient fulfillment and inexpensive products are important, but supply chain managers must also focus on value creation for their customers. Customers are the lifeblood of the organization and create the need for a supply chain. Hence, a fundamental objective in supply chain management must be to consistently meet or exceed customer requirements. The goal of driving customer value begins with a market driven customer service strategy that is based on clearly understood customer requirements. Supply chain strategies, design, and capabilities
  • 21. Engineering Theory Of Stress Stress Stress has been studied by psychologists throughout history and although, evolutionary wise, it is an extremely vital reaction to situations today, in our society, many situations that evoke the stress reaction can cause unnecessary side effects. Therefore, many psychologists have developed theories and methods to explain and help with stress. The modern day definition of stress is a rather new concept that was coined by Hans Selye just over 50 years ago. He defined stress as a non specific response by the body to any demand for change. He also stated that stress was a physiological response, of which are mainly automatic and via the nervous system and endocrine system. Alternatively, the engineering model believes external stresses cause the stress reaction/strain in the individual. Therefore, stress is what happens to the person rather than a reaction to a situation. The clearest difference between the two definitions is that Selye states stress is a response by the body whilst the engineering model believes stress is the situation the person is in. Selye created a theory to accompany his definition named The General Adaptation Syndrome (GAS). In this theory, there are three phases that describe the body s response to stress. The first phase is the Alarm stage, this takes place within the first seconds or minutes of the stressor taking place. The body labels the stressor as a threat or danger to the
  • 22. Horror Films By Edgar Allen Poe, Bram Stoker And Marry Shelly Imagine you are at cinema. There is a lot of suspense and the scene, which you are watching, is quite intense. It is a monster silently stalking his next victim. It approaches closer and closer until it takes the victim with it s claws and rips apart, ripping pones and spewing blood everywhere. That is a rather common description of one of the most popular filmgenres today: Horror. Beginning roughly 100 years ago, early horror films were based off of the writings of famous Gothic writers such as Edgar Allen Poe, Bram Stoker and Marry Shelly. However, it was later when the German Expressionism in the form of film dominated the industry, horror films started to develop stronger and stronger. Horror movies are film genre, which typically relates to two patterns as supernatural, massacre, violence and zombies. Each movie genre has different special influences on the auditors and that influence, in a situation of horror genre, is fear. This kind of film can simply understand as movies that try to get a negative emotional reaction from the audience. Horror movies affect our society and culture by the way they expose to audiences, how they influence other entertainment genres, and how they can be used to portray the worst in society. First of all, horror movies expose audiences to new horrors and items, which they usually do not see in everyday life. Audiences enjoy horror film because it allows them to experience events or meet people they would never meet in their daily lives.

Both stories are about fear and they make us feel fear or are supposed to; they make the reader scared or frightened. Both stories have the same purpose, which is so scare the reader. I am going to compare the way Ray Bradbury and Wilkie Collins create tension, suspense, mood and tone. However in The Whole Town s sleeping , quite the opposite is the case, the first two paragraphs (half the page) are all about the setting and this is very important to the mood and tone of the story without it, you might not believe that a madman could run around killing people for months without being caught. Tension and Suspense are also very important in both stories. Tension is built up a little at the beginning of The Whole Town s sleeping , before the women find the body and its unexpected. The main excitement of the story is at the end, when Lavinia is running through the ravine. The tension is build up using sentences that get shorter and shorter, so that you read them faster and faster until the last sentences are only a couple of words long and the reader is getting really excited. Then when Lavinia reaches the house and locks the door, the reader feels the relief that the

The main character Paul Bäumer joins German forces after with his friend. The main character Paul Baumer goes through many difficulties and struggles in time of War. The author suggests that symbols give a better understanding of the brutality of war through butterflies, boots, and women. Firstly, in the novel All Quiet on the Western Frontthe reader will see words in the text that symbolise other things besides it s own meaning. The first important symbol of this novel is butterfly. Butterfly is memory about Paul s childhood and how he used to collect different types of insects and put them in a case. One morning two butterflies play in front of our trench. They are brimstone butterflies, with red spots on their yellow wings. What can they be looking for here? There is not a plant nor a flower for miles. They settle on the teeth of a skull. The birds too are just as carefree, they have long since accustomed themselves to the war. (Remarque, 128). This quote is important in two ways, one is that Paul remembers his childhood memories, and things that he used to experience when he was young. Paul thinks that after the war he will enjoy his life again with his friends, obviously he won t catch the butterflies, but he will do different things with his friends. The second reason why it s important the plot,is that he doesn t understand how they

At present, a lot of attempts have been taken for the improvement of JC, such as substrate surface decoration, impurity addition, and RE addition or substitution. A substantial amount of work in recent years has been focused on the introduction of artificial pinning defects by a self assembly process such as BaZrO3, BaSnO3, BaIrO3, BaHfO3 and Ba2YNbO6[5] defects. Nanophase additions can also be classified as one, two, and three dimensional artificial pinning centers (1D APC, 2D APC, 3D APC). 1D APC s display linear defects, and include BSO and BZO nanorods. 2D APC s display planar defects, and include small angle grain boundaries, anti phase boundaries, and surfaces of large precipitates.3D APC s result from nano particles, such as Y2O3[4]. The key driving force for alignment of such BZO nanodots into columns oriented along the c axis is the minimization of the misfit strain arising from the lattice mismatch of BZO with YBCO. In other words, a certain minimum level of misfit strain provides the necessary driving force for self assembly to occur. We have recently found that lattice mismatches in the range of 5 12 % generates adequate misfit strains required for the self assembly[6]. The experimental and simulation results showed that lattice mismatches below this range do not result in enough misfit strains and hence no

Many researches have been done which concluded that stressed out managers are not good for the organization. From the individual s point of view stress is our body s physical, mental and chemical reactions to the circumstances that confuse, endanger or irritate us. If this stress is controlled, it becomes a friend which give strength to us but if handled poorly it becomes an enemy which can cause many diseases like blood pressure, asthma, thyroid, ulcer etc. Stress is the output of modern lifestyles. There can be basically 3 levels of stress If the stress is at the optimum level Individual will perform well to his full capacity. If it is more than the optimum level Negative response, individual can suffer from health problems. If it is less than the optimum level Individual gets bored from his work, which reduces his efficiency. Stress can have positive as well as negative effects. If the individual can manage the stress then it will have a positive effect as it will help

It can be said that this situation triggers two situations ; on the one hand there is a physical process: the body s reaction to heat, and on the other hand, there is a mental effect : the experience of heat like being thirsty. The relationship between the two situations has been the source of many debates within philosophy. One name for this entire group of debates is the mind body problem ; this name suggests a problem of separation and dualism. Dualism shall be claimed, it is an intuitive position; it offers an explanation of the mind and body in terms of substances (Descartes, 1641) or properties (Strawson, 1959), in which the mind is somehow considered as a non physical thing, thus separated from the physical world. In contrast, a rival view is that there are only physical things, hence there is no separation between mind and body as suggested by dualism, and that the mind is most accurately described in physical terms. (One physicalist view is the identity theory (Place, 1956, Smart, 1959)) So as not to prejudge these problems it may be better to

In order not to get hunted down by the FBI the family units needed to project that they were good guys by living in a suburban community with the traditional roles of the dad working and the mother staying home with the children. The authors in the two short stories exemplified the erroneous lifestyle that America was forced to portray by showing the ramifications by suppression of individuality, the symbolic idea everything is not what it seems, and the anxieties of material wealth. In The Death of Justina , John Cheever made it clear that the narrator and his wife were just an idea of a happy marriage and did not truly connect. When the narrator stopped smoking he told his wife that he quit and she didn t seem to care and who would reward me for my privations (Cheever)? This is where we understand the importance of the place related to the absolutism of the king. And while space is rather linked to an action or a process of history, place is the conclusion of the entire action. Simply put space is the largeness of the palace complex. It is what, after realizing the importance of the location, amazes the traveler. The third component is event, which is a result of a project. It is the outcome of an action and therefore is closely related to place in a sense that both conclude a momentum. It can be a momentous thing, surprising and singular. In the seventeenth century, baroque helped to raise this event even higher. With all the
  • 39. Rio Research Papers Fourth generation Kia Rio rolls out. Demand for small cars is down, but don t tell that to Kia Motors. The Korean automaker is well entrenched in the segment, offering both the subcompact Rio and the compact Forte. The Kia Rio rolled out in 2001 and we ve seen it grow since, although it remains Kia s smallest and least expensive model, slotting beneath the Forte. Kia has always offered a Rio sedan; early on you could also choose a small wagon, but that body style was soon replaced by a five door hatchback. For 2018, the fourth generation Kia Rio arrives, offering a fresh take in a segment desperately needing something new. Indeed, as automakers continue to build more SUVs, entry level models see few updates or manufacturers may abandon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even then, tall passengers may find rear legroom wanting. After spending many hours behind the wheel of the Rio, I can say that seat comfort is adequate at best. Happily, I avoided the back pain similar cars have given me, so there is that attribute. Kudos to Kia for supplying the Rio sedan with such a large trunk 13.7 cubic feet, although I think the utility of the hatchback would suit most people. You ll find soft touch materials, plastic surfaces and brightwork trim throughout the Rio s cabin. Texturized surfaces provide a pleasing appearance I like what automakers such as Kia have done to give extra attention to their smallest models. Low cost shouldn t mean cheap. Standard equipment includes cloth seats; a red accent leather package option is on the EX grade. The top trim also has a leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. All models have air conditioning and locking doors. Power windows, cruise control, and a center console with a sliding armrest and storage area are in the S and EX models. Safety Highlights If there is an inherent weakness with the Kia Rio, it has been the compact s safety scores. The previous generation model received top scores from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in three categories: moderate overlap front, roof strength, and head restraints seats. In side testing, the Rio picked up an acceptable score; in small overlap front testing the score was marginal. We re expecting scores to

There are different schools of thought with regards to that question. This essay will explore those differences. Firstly we shall consider the perspectives of the formalists, what was their view of applying rules. Continuing onto the American Legal Realists views, assumptions and looking at their two main critiques of formalism, rule and fact scepticism. We shall also review the theories of H.L.A. Hart regarding the application of legal rules. By analysing some modern day cases and examples we will further compare and contrast formalism, realism and Hart. Finally we shall review aspects of the essay and draw conclusions. Formalists were legal theorists of the late 19th century. Formalism was regarded as a way of a mechanical interpretation of the law. Using syllogism, a logical process, judges selected an appropriate legal rule. This was applied rationally to the facts of the case and from this a conclusion was objectively deduced. This was regarded as a scientific process removing subjectivity where the correct decisions were inherent

  • 43. The Bourne Identity Critical Analysis Essay A sense of belonging will often emerge from the connections made with people, places, groups, communities, and the larger world. The Bourne Identity is a novel, written by Robert Ludlum. The main character in this novel is Jason Bourne, a broken man, not only in the physical, but also in the emotional and psychological sense. Throughout the entire novel we see a man who is attempting to put the pieces of his life back together after suffering from a sudden onset of amnesia. There are several ways that this text relates to belonging and not belonging, all of which become increasingly obvious as the novel progresses. Through the loss of memory every aspect of an individual s sense of belonging is completely removed, and as Bournestruggles... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You came for me. She knew Jason Bourne, or the man called Jason Bourne, and she held on to the decency she knew was there. Oh, God, how she loved him so! . And then he would leave; she would never know when and he could never tell her why. He owed her that; it would hurt deeply for a while, but the ultimate pain would be far less than that caused by the stigma of Cain. Cain! Marie. Marie! What have I done? This is an example of a narrative technique used throughout the text. The author uses italics to show what Bourne is thinking, in doing this a deeper connection is created between the reader and the character, by revealing how Bourne really feels. This technique is used in other instances to show Bourne s raw emotion and distress. A man in the text know only as Carlos is another individual of whom Bourne has a deep connection with. However, this connection and the sense of belonging that is derived from it, is of a very different nature, to the one he shares with Marie. Carlos is a central figure in Bourne s fragmented memory, however he cannot place where, how or why he knows this man. Again the narrative technique using italics to show Bourne s thoughts is used. Carlos. Find Carlos! God in heaven, why? Delta.

In the Cibecue community, rituals and traditions still carry great importance and play a significant role in communication, despite intervention from Anglo missionaries to modernize the community. A major part of Basso s interests in the Cibecue community is to study the role of silence in a community where focused gatherings are a common mode of public communication. He looks to examine situations where silence becomes the appropriate communicative process and the reasons why it is considered so. Moreover, these situations of silence only occur during a certain period or circumstance that is defined by tradition as well as experience. Another factor in Basso s interest is to define what human emotion determines the decision to remain silent in a particular situation. A discussion of Basso s definition of the term situation will be provided in the next section. Contextual Concepts In order to completely understand the arguments put forth by Basso in his research, it is vital to understand the concept that communication occurs with or without the usage of speech, and in this case through silence. Although the people engaged in this silence are not communicating directly per se, the silence is an acknowledgement of their presence. Interpersonal communication, which occurs face to face, employs three main technical components: a code (an

As the competition on the field improves, the risk of injury also becomes more of a possibility. While strength and conditioning coaches have created athletes who are able to withstand more physical play and can rehab quicker from injury, they have also created monsters on the playing field and court. As collegiate athletics grows into a multibillion dollar industry, the players expect to have more benefits available to them, including workers compensation. We have seen a variety of situations arise recently were players are looking to secure their own safety when playing such physical games. In 1976, a football student athlete at Indiana State University suffered an injury that left him as a quadriplegic. In 1983, the case Rensing v.
