Reaction Paper On Punarnava
Punarnava (Boerhaavia diffusa L.) is a promising drug to rejuvenate new cells in body. It is well
known in Ayurvedic medicine and locally called Tambadivasu. Superficially it is similar to other
species of Boerhaavia and species of Trianthema and Sesuvium. Due to the minute morphological
differences, above plants are erroneously used in medicine as Punarnava, and at times on purpose as
an adulterant. Therefore, it is necessary to highlight the anatomical features of Punarnava for proper
identification of the medicinal plantspecies for local people and for scientific research. Due to the
ambiguity in local names and similar apparent appearance, market samples of Punarnava are often
adulterated with various species of Trianthema and Sesuvium. These adulterated samples contain
neither the Punarnavine alkaloid, nor does it possess anisocytic stomata. Comparative study of
stem anatomy showed two main characteristic differences. First, plenty of starch grains can be seen
in both the ground tissues and xylem parenchyma of Punarnava which is not observed in species of
Trianthema, and second, the phloem around the xylem of Punarnava root has semi circular or...

It consisted of stomata and trichomes on both, upper and lower surface. SEM study of leaves
showed anisocytic stomata with uniseriate or multicellular trichome with enlarged globose or
elongated terminal cell in Boerhaavia diffusa, while paracytic stomata was observed in
Trianthema and Sesuvium (Figures 2A D). Epidermis was followed by mesophyll tissue. It
revealed dorsiventral organization, comprising one two stratum of palisade and about 3 4 layers
of spongy tissue (Figures 2E, F; 3A D). Length and width of the palisade varied in different plant
species. They were measured from 50 72 mm length and 24 38 mm width in B. diffusa, and 33 48
mm length and 24 26 mm width in T.

Taking a Look at Virtualization
VIRTUALIZATION Virtualization is a concept in which access to a single underlying piece of
hardware, like a server ,is coordinated so that multiple guest operating systems can share that single
piece of hardware ,with no guest operating system being aware that it is actually sharing anything at
all. Working mechanism Virtualization software tackles the issue by empowering many operating
systems and applications to run on one physical server or host. Each independent virtual machine is
secluded from the others, and uses as a great part the host s computing resources. Contrast b/w (OS)
the Guest OS The host is the virtual machine host server; the underlying hardware that gives
computing resources, for example processing power, memory, disk and network I/O etc. The guest
is a totally separate and independent instance of an operating system and application software.
Guests are the virtual workloads that dwell on a host virtual machine and contribute in that server s
computing resources. Packages Hardware virtualization alludes to the production of a virtual
machine that demonstrations like a true computer with an operating system. Software executed on
these virtual machines is divided from the underlying hardware resources. Desktop virtualization is
the idea of differentiating the logical desktop from the physical machine .One type of desktop
virtualization, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), could be thought as a more advanced form of
hardware virtualization.

Implementation And Reporting For Hedge Accounting Essay
Research Memorandum
To: CEO, Thomas Foods
From:
Date: December 12, 2015
RE: Implementation and Reporting for Hedge Accounting
Facts:
Thomas Foods wishes to insulate the company from the financial blow of large increases in the
prices of produce from local farmers. The main factor that would cause this unexpected change in
price that Thomas Foods should be concerned with is the possible fluctuation of weather conditions.
Thomas Foods is interested in determining whether or not hedge accounting would be the best
solution to protect the company s operating income. If the company elects to implement a hedge
accounting system, the Controller of the company must be informed of the accounting treatments
involved when dealing with cash flow and fair value hedge accounting, the two most common
forms of hedge accounting.
Issues:
1.Will implementing a hedging strategy help to alleviate the risks of price increases and benefit
Thomas Foods financially when it comes to purchasing produce from local farmers?
2.Which hedge accounting strategy or alternative method will be most beneficial to Thomas Foods
and ensure minimal loss in operating income?
3.How can the accounting treatments of the newly implemented strategy be best explained to the
Controller of Thomas Foods?
Conclusions:
1.Hedge accounting strategies are best implemented when dealing with transactions from the
original source. In this particular situation, the local farmer would be considered the original source
because he

Comparative Analysis Of Adaptive Threshold Based Spectrum...
Comparative Analysis of Adaptive Threshold Based Spectrum Sensing Techniques in Cognitive
Radio Networks
Abstract: In the last two decades, the number of wireless communication users and its applications
increasing rapidly. With this rapid growth there exists spectrum scarcity. One of the best solutions
to avoid spectrum scarcity is cognitive radio with its dynamic spectrum sensing. Cognitive radio is
a promising technology, which is used to sense the unused spectrum in an appropriate manner.
Various methods have been proposed in the past, such as energy detection, matched filterand so on
[1 6 7]. Different techniques serve different purpose based on their advantages and disadvantages.
In this paper, the author suggests an approach of dynamic threshold to increase the probability
detection of spectrum sensing. Spectrum sensing using energy detection, matched filter detectors
based on fixed threshold and dynamic threshold are simulated using MATLAB. The performance of
energy detection, matched filter detector is compared by plotting probability detection versus
signal to noise ratio graph.
Keywords: Spectrum Sensing, Cognitive Radio, Wireless Communication, Energy Detection,
Matched Filter, Probability Detection and Threshold.
I. Introduction: The recent trend in cognitive radio related research has altered s great of deal of
interest in spectrum sensing and detection of radio users in the environment [5]. In general, the
spectrum user signals are categorized into primary

Dr Strangelove Analysis
The movie Dr. Strangelove is a comedic movie but the issius it brings to light were very serious
at the time and issues concerning nuclear war are still very present in our lives today. The cold
war was a scary time for the world people and it s speculated to be the closest humankind has ever
come to becoming obsolete. There was lots of fear and suspension expression in the movie and
that was similar to how it was in real life during the cold war. Although there are some ridiculous
aspects of the film Dr. Strangelove it underlines something that could have happened extremely
easily during this time. In Dr. Strangelove the world is at the brink of becoming completely
decimated by the USSR s and the United states nuclear arsenals. When watching the movie you
may find some parts of it ridiculous but most of the movie is accurate to what was going on in our
military and government at this time just made more dramatic. At this time the lives of millions
were in the hands of just a few men high up in the military and government. Any wrong action or
statement by them could end up starting a nuclear war. It s not crazy to think that one rouge
commander under all the stress and suspicion going on from the red scare would order an attack on
the USSR during this time. There was a lot of conspiracies going around about communist schemes
to infect the united states such as the one that putting fluoride in the water was a way the
communists were attacking the USA. With conspiracies

Shawn Johnson s Winning Balance
Introduction: What if in a matter of seconds all your dreams that you have worked your entire
life for shattered before your eyes? What if this happened all while millions of people were
watching? Would you still get up and try again? Shawn Johnson has conquered many challenges
throughout her gymnastics career all while being watched by millions of people. In the book,
Winning Balance, Shawn shares some of her challenges and how she overcame them. The
theme of this book is to never give up and keep trying even if it seems as though you have
already lost. One quote from the book that really portrayed this theme is, Sometimes the real
victory comes from simply not giving up. Just remember: God is big enough to handle every
challenge, and he is loving enough to calm every fear. ( pg. 91) The setting of this book takes
place in Iowa as well as the 2008 Olympics in Bejing, China. Plot: Although Shawn Johnson

Sports
The poems I choose to write about were Fathers Playing Catch with Sons by Donald Hall and This
is the Day by Tim Peeler. Both of these sports poems were written in the twentieth century, and have
a similar style and theme
The first poem I choose, Father Playing Catch with Sons by Donald Hall, was written in 1984.
This poem is written about a game of baseball. The scene is set in the bottom of the ninth inning.
He is up to bat with the bases loaded, and his team is trailing. The first pitch thrown is a slider,
and the hitter fouls it off his cup. The author describes the next pitch as an Express Freight.
Meaning the ball came in at a high velocity with a lot of power, just as a train would. He swings,
but he is just behind. The ball is popped foul. Then the poem takes a quick turn into a basketball
scene. The player is standing at the line with two shots to win. The gym is quiet. He missed the
first one. He bounces the ball and misses the next. His team loses, and he says he disappears and
changes his name. This poem is describing the big moments in a sports, such as trying to take the
game winning shot or being the last one up to bat in the bottom of the ninth inning. When in this
situation everyone is counting on you to make a big play, and that is a lot of pressure. If you don
t people are mad or disappointed in you, and it is hard to hold your head high after this. That is why

Persepolis Gender Analysis
In American Born Chinese and in Persepolis, both protagonists hate their nationality and wish
they were normal. Being a minority can be difficult at times. Sometimes, minorities are looked
down upon and just wish that they could be normal like the rest of the people they are
surrounded by. In Persepolis, Satrapi was asked what race she was and lied in response to gain
others respect and to be seen as an equal. In the graphic novel, the panel used at this time shows
tense emotions by the action lines seen and the facial expressions. When she lies, the entire
background is black and she looks sad. Satrapi does not maintain eye contact when she lied
because she was embarrassed and knew she made a mistake. With the gutters between the
scenes, we can assume how she is feeling after lying. Occasionally, ignorant people will assume
that you are just like your race. In Satrapi s case, people would see her as a terrorist. Satrapi lied
so that the boy she liked would view her as a normal person, not just some terrorist. In American
Born Chinese, Jin Wang also denied his nationality to be seen as normal by society. When Wang
was introduced to class, a boy made a joke saying, Don t you people eat dogs? . Racism due to
being a minority can affect how much one wants to express their culture. If people are intolerant of
others, they have a tendency to hide their culture. Wang was also classmates with a another Asian
girl, which he never talked to because his classmates would make racist jokes about arranged
marriages. When another Asian boy was introduced to the class, Wang wanted to hit him because he
fit the stereotypes of the Asian culture. He was depicted wearing glasses, dressing in horrendous
clothing, having an accent, and having squinty eyes. Wang did not want to associate with the new
kid. When the new kid spoke the Chinese language, Wang was mad. His eyebrows were squinted
and he told him You re in America. Speak English. In general, both the protagonist from the stories
hid their nationalism so that they would not be picked on. They both need to accept their
nationalism in order to mature. In both graphic novels, both protagonists, Wang and Satrapi, want to
fit in with white America. Satrapi spends a good

PSY 301 Week 3 Assignment Persuasion Who What To Whom Essay
This paperwork comprises PSY 301 Week 3 Assignment Persuasion Who What To Whom
Persuasion: Who, What, To Whom
As we explore persuasion, we can divide the persuasive communication into three parts: the
communicator, the message, and the audience. First, we will deal with what characteristics of
persuaders make people more likely to be persuaded. Next, we will think about characteristics of
the message that lead people to change. Finally, we will explore what characteristics of the
audience can lead them to be persuaded. (Feenstra, 2011, p. 88) For your assignment this week,
provide an in depth analysis of the three parts of persuasion. Please reference the bullet points below
to complete your assignment.

Psychology General Psychology Persuasion: Who, What, To Whom In your textbook, Feenstra
(2011) states, As we explore persuasion, we can divide the persuasive communication into three
parts: the communicator, the message, and the audience. (p. 88). For your assignment this week,
construct a paper that provides an in depth analysis of the three parts of persuasion. Address the
following points in your paper:
1. Who Describe the Characteristics of the Persuader: What influences our ability to become
persuaded by someone? What specific characteristics must this person possess? Be sure to
address the impact of credibility, physical attractiveness, and likeability in your response. Why do
we respond well to those who possess such characteristics? Would we respond the same to an
unattractive, angry, or non credible person? Why not? 2. What Discuss the Characteristics of the
Message: What attributes are inherent in persuasive messages? How are we influenced by the
emotion, framing, narratives, and rational appeals in the messaging we receive? What is the
significance of the sleeper effect? 3. To Whom Examine the Characteristics of the Audience: Why
do different audiences perceive messages in different ways? What is the role of culture, gender,

The Ku Klux Klan In The 1920s
In the 1920s the second Ku Klux Klan was reborn. The first one originated in Tennessee shortly
after the civil war. The Ku Klux Klan was a secret society that was dedicated to white supremacy
in the United States. Novels such as the Leopard s Spots and The Clansman written by Thomas
Dixon were encouraging the values of the Klan. William J. Simmons established the new KKK.
He made the secret group only available to white American born Protestant men. He also made the
white hooded outfits, the ritual for the secret order, and even got an official charter from the state
of Georgia. Thanksgiving evening in 1915 Simmons and sixteen of his members lit a cross on fire
and proclaimed the rebirth of the secret society. The second generation of the

Management Control System
CHAPTER 22
MANAGEMENT CONTROL SYSTEMS, TRANSFER PRICING,
AND MULTINATIONAL CONSIDERATIONS
22 1A management control system is a means of gathering and using information to aid and
coordinate the planning and control decisions throughout the organization and to guide the
behavior of its managers and employees. The goal of the system is to improve the collective
decisions within an organization.
22 2To be effective, management control systems should be (a) closely aligned to an organization
s strategies and goals, (b) designed to fit the organization s structure and the decision making
responsibility of individual managers, and (c) able to motivate managers and employees to put in
effort to attain selected goals desired by top ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
22 12Reasons why a dual pricing approach to transfer pricing is not widely used in practice include:
1.The manager of the supplying division uses a cost based method to record revenues and does not
have sufficient incentives to control costs.
2.This approach does not provide clear signals to division managers about the level of
decentralization top management wants. 3. This approach tends to insulate managers from the
frictions of the marketplace because costs, not market prices, affect the revenues of the supplying
division. 4. It leads to problems in computing the taxable income of subunits located in different tax
jurisdictions.
22 13Disagree. Cost and price information are often useful starting points in the negotiation
process. Costs, particularly variable costs of the selling division, serve as a floor below which
the selling division would be unwilling to sell. Prices that the buying division would pay to
purchase products from the outside market serves as a ceiling above which the buying division
would be unwilling to buy. The price negotiated by the two divisions will, in general, have no
specific relationship to either costs or prices. But the negotiated price will generally fall between
the variable costs based floor and the market price based ceiling.

Dream Of The Rood Sacrifice
Many times, when an individual discusses Christ s sacrifice, they word it as defeating sin, as in
winning a battle. In the poem Dream of the Rood, the author explains the sacrifice through the
point of view of the cross while also including diction related closely to battle or war. One of these
instances is, I beheld Glory s trunk / garnished with grandeur (14 15). However, further on the
author then discusses how signs of ancient strife:/ beneath that gold (18 19), had begun to show.
During battles/war, soldiers fight relentlessly in order to return to their home triumphantly. Similar
to the strife and turmoil one may face during battle, Christ willingly and knowingly faced
difficulties/death to save humanity from sin. One must be willing

The Anzac s Attack On Gallipoli
On the 25th of April 1915, the Anzac soldiers were involved in an attack on Gallipoli. Although, the
minor campaign turned out to be a costly failure, the event made a huge impact on the Australian
soldiers and women. The attack also contributed greatly to the development of the Anzac Legend as
the Australian men presented their true Aussie culture to the world. The Australian soldiers faced
extremely tough conditions during their attack on Gallipoli. They were in constant danger, always
exposed to enemy fire whilst the Turks held high ground. They fought with lethal weapons and were
required to wear gas masks during battle with the constant fear of poisonous gas. The soldiers
physical conditions deteriorated rapidly throughout the campaign. The stinking hot weather,

Most of the women full heartedly encouraged the men to enlist. They put great pressure on the
men, refusing to converse with those men who didn t go. An image of these strong Australian
women was often used on enlistment advertisements because they supposedly portrayed an
image of being helpless and vulnerable victims in need of soldiers to protect them from the evil
Germans . On the home front, women were trained for men s jobs so that more men could enlist.
These women were eager to comply as these traditionally male jobs received higher pay. Many
women also frequently volunteered to help the soldiers at war. They sewed and knitted warm
clothes for the men and raised money to help those affected by the war. Although, they worried for
their friends and families that were fighting in Gallipoli, they were proud of their brave efforts.
Some women also served in the war, generally as nurses. Their lives changed enormously as they

The Natural Evolution Of Readability And How It s...
Visual communication is the interaction of meanings and thoughts through visual stimuli. Usually
in 2D visual communication covers a wide range of genres including art, ideograms, typography,
photography, illustration, graphic design and many others.
In this essay I will try to evidence the natural evolution of readability and legibility in visual
communication and how it s progression reached its pinnacle before the beginning of post
modernism. I will look as far back as the first known instances of visual communication, the cave
paintings, and target key elements to the evolution and progression of visual communication
including ideograms, the alphabet, scribes, the printing press, slave ship diagrams, the Renaissance,
Leonardo Da Vinci and the Avantgarde, before concentrating on the change from Modernism to
post modernism. In my essay readability refers to the ease in which we can read the piece and
legibility discuses the message it is trying to convey.
It is my View that Visual communication, for the most part; naturally progressed over time due to
the influence of previous developments. I believe that this reached its pinnacle during modernism
and experienced a drastic change during post modernism.
The main theory that i will be trying to evidence is the natural progression and evolution of
readability and legibility in visual communication until the beginning of post modernism
The earliest known form of visual communication is Indonesian cave paintings dated at

The Lion And The Mouse Pinkney
In the story, The Lion and The Mouse by Jerry Pinkney; it has an extremely strong moral which
is, don t judge a book by its cover. In this story the lion spares the mouse s life and in return the
mouse saves the lion s life. The author demonstrated this when even though the lion thought the
mouse was to small to amount to anything the mouse proved him wrong by saving his life. The
author did this to show that even a tiny mouse could make a huge difference to a giant lion.
Another lesson is that if you are nice to people then people will be nice to you. This story has
always been told with different variations but in the end the moral would always be either don t

Descriptive Essay About Long Flight
Yawning and still feeling sleep deprived despite having just woken up from a nap, I always
forget how exhausting these long haul flights can be. Although I adore these summer flights
flying back and forth between Vancouver and Japan, it takes a toll on my body. Squirming my
way through the aisles, hopping over loose legs and skimming past lolling heads, I make my
way back to the front of the plane. Working up front is the best; it s quiet and peaceful and
overall it smells nicer than economy. Upon returning to the front galley, my colleague catches
me up on what needs to be done before leaving for her break. She handed out snacks and topped
up on beverages 5 minutes ago, however most of our passengers are sleeping comfortably in
their seats wrapped in blankets and neck pillows. Warning me to pay particular attention to the
gentleman at 2H, who has had more than enough whiskey for the evening, she places a glass of
water at his side and disappears behind the curtain to our crew seats. Peering into the dimly lit
cabin, 2H seems to have fallen into a deep and soundless slumber. Walking through the cabin, I
collect empty cups and snack wrappers while topping up half full water glasses, however
everybody is out cold. The few passengers who were stirring are now fast asleep, mouths hanging
open. Glancing over at 2H, I see a Japanese middle aged man (although, he could have been
older...the Japanese age magnificently) dressed rather professionally sitting next to his wife.

Animal Therapy Vs. Traditional Nursing Practice
Animal assisted therapy is the use of animals, most popularly canines for their friendly, loving, and
nonjudgmental approach in patient treatment. Animal therapy may be considered unorthodox
within standard nursing practice and thus the studies produced have been limited and more inquiry
is needed. This paper will discuss the benefits animal therapy can produce for cancerpatients
psychologically and physiologically as well as increasing job satisfaction for nurses. Its expected
outcome is to exemplify animal assisted therapy s potential as a complementary treatment to
traditional nursing practice that can be normalized in the future. From the evaluation of three
studies and one literature review the significance associated with animal assisted therapy results
will be examined. As well as analyzing these various studies, discussing their limitations and
presenting their comparisons. The animals included trained canines of different breed and size and
the sample population was cancer patients specifically those undergoing radiation or chemotherapy.
Interventions included presenting the various breeds of dogs to patients before (in the waiting
room) and during (while receiving chemotherapy) treatment. Trainers were present at all times and
patients were able to interact, pet, hold, play and walk with the dogs. Its usefulness is minutely
recognized in nursing and can be of importance to the nursing practice as a cathartic alternative

The Attribute And Function Of The Satguru Essay
Reiterating yet again the salvific attribute and function of the Satguru, the Pir reminds his
addressees that the Satguru has come to the terrestrial plane and has brought with Him, the secret
knowledge of spiritual freedom and adds that through embrace of the NЕ«r of the Satguru, one
attains immortality. The first two lines of this verse, which are almost similar to the opening two
lines of the eleventh verse of this composition, reaffirm that the Satguru is indeed the custodian of
the knowledge of, and holder of the key to, salvation. This fact resonates with the stipulation in the
preamble of the Ismaili Constitution that Imam s Ta lim lights the murids path to spiritual
enlightenment and vision. Essentially, these two lines encapsulate the theme of the redemptive
attribute and role of the Satguru, discussed in verses eleven, eighteen, nineteen, twenty three and
twenty six of this granth. Apart from serving as a reminder to the believers to seek emancipation
through the Satguru, the Ginans, through their persistent emphasis on the redemptive function of
the Satguru, seek to highlight the fact that, leading the faithful to spiritual liberation is one of the
most significant roles of the Satguru and may as well be His raison d ГЄtre. Thus, one of the
recurring themes of the Ginans is mukti or salvation, just as the most frequent entreaty found in
Ginans is for deliverance, while one of the commonest appellations of the Satguru in the Ginans is

Ezekiel s Vision And Prophetic Declaration Of A New Temple
Introduction Ezekiel s vision and prophetic declaration of a new temple is among the most
debatable text within the Old Testament. In the twenty fifth year of Ezekiel s exile, God
instructed him to look and listen carefully by paying close attention to everything that he was
shown. Not only was he supposed to see, hear and grasp, he also had to provide this information
to Israel (Ez 40:4) . The vision was to provide hope, a spiritual renewal and a future depiction of
Israel s restoration.
Although the prophet Ezekiel, in chapters 40 48, delineated an imaginative depiction of a future
temple, ancient and modern scholars view the text as problematic and devise exceptional challenges
in its interpretation. Both scholars and theologians endeavor ... Show more content on

Founded as Magdalen Hall The Bishop of Winchester, William of Wayflete founded the
forerunner to the college Magdalen Hall in 1448 on the High Street. The good bishop was a
leading educational reformer of the day, with a passion for Renaissance ideas and had, by this
time, already helped to establish schools to promote his new views. He had also been Provost of
Eton: one of England s leading and most influential schools. Wayflete s ambition, wealth and
connections with Henry VI enabled him to acquire the nearby site of an old tumble down
hospital, sitting on vast tracts of land just outside the city walls. It was here, the present site, that
Magdalen became a proper college in 1458. Wayflete made use of some of the existing buildings,
as a temporary arrangement, until his grand, purpose built college was complete. However the
inherited chapel and hospital hall remained in use and traces still survive to this today. May

spiritual transformation after meeting Christ in Galilee. The statutes also made provision for a
choir to be founded consisting of men from the college and boys drawn from the associated school.
This choral tradition continues to this day and includes the ancient and famous custom of singing

Gender Stereotypes In Australia
It can be argued that it is the students and academic teaching staff themselves who are forcing
females into female type jobs and males into male type jobs . Connell et al. (2013) discuss gender
cannot be argued against as being irrelevant to educational outcomes and student performance. A
significant factor in Australia in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries was the expansion of
education on a massive scale, with the result being a school conceiving social class (Connell et al.
2013, p.106).
Kimball (1995) relates working concepts of meritocracy are closely linked to science. Science is
believed to be true and objective, a more meritorious type of knowledge that has accurate ideas,
methodologies and people. Science automatically assumes that it is elevated above other forms of
knowledge, becoming apparent in scientists one way method of communication, with an attitude
that there is nothing to be gained by communicating with a non scientific person (Kimball, 1995,

masculine verbal bravado present and evident in science classrooms. By contrast, females lack

Waxco Executive Summary
Waxco has been manufacturing janitorial supplies in the rural district of Lacon, Mississippi for
25 years. Prior to Waxco s arrival, the businesses in Lacon were traveling 70 miles round trip to
purchase cleaning products. Waxco did not offer better pricing, nor did they pitch sales
gimmicks; their competitive advantage was a much needed delivery service. If the company
requesting service from Waxco operated within a 15 mile radius of the warehouse, delivery was
free and estimated at 20 minutes. Any company up to 15 miles outside of the aforestated
coverage area was assessed a fee. As of late, Waxco has been accumulating negative feedback on

Theories Of Restorative Justice
According to Batley (2005), restorative justice is about dealing with the damage that was caused as
well as addressing the needs of the victim and the offender. The relationship between the two parties
and their communities needs to be mended. Zehr Gohar (2003) further states that restorative justice
expands the circle of stakeholders further than that of the justice system. Stakeholders are not just
the offender and the government, but the victim and the community members as well.
As stated by Batley (2005), there are many definitions of restorative justice, but they all contain
three principles, which are:
Victims, offenders and communities all experience pain or damages that is caused by crime. It is

but steps towards healing can be taken. Looking at the above mentioned crimes namely, domestic
violence, sexual violence and rape, murder could be the worst criminal act.
The charge states that restorative justice is not appropriate when dealing with a serious crime
such as murder (Batley, 2005). On the surface the obvious reason would be that the victim would
not be able to partake in the restorative process, however Gaudreault (2005) stated that research

Who Is Vlad The Impaler Real
Everyone knows the name of Dracula. The infamous story and name began with the 1897 gothic
horror novel written by Bram Stoker. Whether you have read the book or watched the multiple film
recreations you know, and recognize the plot of Count Dracula s devious intentions. So while many
individuals will enjoy the blood sucking, and curdling films, shows, and novels this Halloween
they probably will be unaware of the true story of Count Dracula. The tale of Dracula didn t
actually instantaneously sprout from the brain of the Irish author I previously mentioned. He was
inspired by a far more sinister plot line... only this one was real, and the main character s name was
Vlad III.
Vlad III, a bloodthirsty soul who was also a medieval prince of Wallachia around the time of 1448
until his death, happened to also be known as DrДѓculea. His other nickname, Vlad the Impaler,
gives you kind of an idea about the type of dude he was. Vlad often terrorized those who he
found to be enemies using exceptional amounts of cruelty. If Vlad the Impaler wanted you dead,
most likely he would choose the sadistic, and fear creation route. By which I mean he would
execute you via impalement. He was in a sense a very great military leader in a sense. He made up

Film Analysis Of Blow Out And The 1976 Film Carrie
The 1981 film Blow Out and the 1976 film Carrie are just two of over thirty films directed by
Brian De Palma. Although they span an array of genres and topics, De Palma s films are
recognizable by his distinct director s touch. De Palma s films adhere to Andrew Sarris s concept
the auteur theory, which posits that each filmcontains the director s distinguishable artistic
personality. This artistic nature of both the film and director is evident in the unique and consistent
visual style and thematic elements present in each of the films. Blow Outand Carrieare executed
with control and a special attention to detail, so that each shot and scene is carefully constructed
and inserted intentionally to drive the plot forward. De Palma s films contain an expert use of
visual grammar, in which the stories are told as much with camera moves and editing as
dialogue. Like many of his films, Blow Out and Carrie feature certain trademark elements of De
Palma s work: the recurring theme of the male gaze, and the use of cinematic devices including a
split diopter lens, slow motion, and 360 degree pan. De Palma s use of these recurring cinematic
tropes enable him to simultaneously place his unique director s touch on these films as he crafts
suspense filled visual masterpieces. Blow Out and Carrie exhibit the recurring theme of looking

forms of looking: the camera, the audience, and the

Blindness James Saramago Analysis
The Opportunity for Change That Hunger Provides
Hunger is a part of the human experience that appears in literature across the globe. People require
daily nourishment, and bond over sharing meals together. The most basic of human needs are those
that are required for physical safety. Without nourishment, a body will die. Entire communities have
been devastated by famines in history. Authors of the 20th century from various countries
understood the significance of finding food to sustain the body. When there is scarcity of food, it
dominates a person s interests over other needs like social and emotional needs. This provides a
window of opportunity in literature. When a character experiences hunger, it strips them down to
their most basic form, as a body needing to survive. Hunger in literature causes people to break
social customs and behave in ways they otherwise would not. As civilized behaviors and customs
are replaced with the desire to survive, characters respond with both great selfishness and
selflessness depending on their inner condition.
A novel that provides many examples of this is Blindness, the 1995 novel by Portuguese author
JosГ© Saramago. The story is set in a city that experiences a bizarre epidemic of blindness the
degrading of civilization that follows quickly after. Those who have been struck with blindness
early on were rounded up into a quarantine and small food portions were provided on schedule.

individually small and have no strong bargaining power over shopping centre owners.
There are a large number of retailers and service providers in the market. As demand for space is

However, the power of buyers has been increasing as retailers can now choose locations outside of

Analysis Of The Goat Herder Dilemma
Introduction
Before I joined the Army, one of my mentors sat me down, looked me sternly in the face and said,
Even though you are not going into the infantry, even though you might not deploy, at some point
in time the Army may put you in a situation and ask that you take another person s life. You need to
square yourself with that. If you cannot do that and pull that trigger when that time comes, then you
should not join. It is important for new officers to think about how they will make ethical decisions
and what choices they may face. Conducting a cost benefit analysis when faced with two unethical
options is an effective way of choosing the least bad option and resulting relative cost. The United
States has ratified international laws such as the law of armed conflict that govern how and in what
manner the United States will conduct warfare. Within these documents are definitions of non
combatants and protected peoples who will not be brutalized or killed during the conduct of war.
However, revolutionaries and insurgents frequently use these ethical guidelines against greater
powers. Insurgent tactics may include the use of women and children to detonate or carry an
explosive or use them as a reconnaissance force. Adhering to the ethical law and rules that guide
U.S. soldiers may result in mission failure and the death or some or many of your teammates.

Comparing Digging and Follower by Seamus Heaney Essays
Examine two poems, Digging and Follower by Seamus Heaney and then compare the poems,
explaining both their differences and similarities.
The first poem I am going to examine is digging by Seamus Heaney. I will first comment on the
title of the poem. Digging has both a metaphorical and literal meaning to it. The literal meaning is
that his father and his grandfather are farmers. The poem talks about the men Digging and working,
so this explains the literal meaning of the poem. The metaphorical meaning is that Seamus Heaney
is Digging into his past and back round, which is farming. So, the title is rather effective. Now I
will examine the rest of the poem.

This makes his father sound very professional. It sounds as if he wants us to admire his father.
Once again, the word digging is repeated in the literal sense.
The first line of the fourth stanza also implies that his father was very professional by using
technical words such as lug and shaft and then again in the second line; levered firmly . In the last
line of this stanza, tactile imagery is used. It reads loving their cool hardness in our hands
The fifth stanza is only two lines long, and is said in a rather conversational tone; as if Seamus
Heaney is speaking it in a general conversation. It isn t like a poem at all. It says By god the old
man could handle a spade . He is boasting here, like a child in a playground. It conveys a boastful,
bragging tone. Just like his old man sets in motion the chain of memory.
The sixth stanza starts of in the same boastful tone as the fifth stanza was. My grandfather cut
more turf in a day, than any other man on Toner s bog . This is also said in a conversational tone.
He seems very proud of his grandfather, just like he does his father. His grandfather must have
been good at his job. He then contrasts his grandfather s work, by explaining of how he carried
in a bottle of milk to his grandfather once, corked sloppily with paper . It seems as if he doesn t
feel that he is as good as if father and grandfather were. Once again, in the seventh stanza, the word

were also all in concrete. The building was much older than he had thought, although it looked
almost new on the outside.
Japes entire focus changed from the hotel to the servers managing the hotel. He had been
enamored with the excitement in the activities of the guests and the servers with whom he
worked. Now, he was more curious about the managers he oversaw than the servers who interacted
with the guests. It was a tremendous change in perspective. Japes wanted to have fun as he
enjoyed in his previous jobs, but he also wanted to be a leader. His next introduction was to
Bobbin. Bobbin was the reservation manager who worked at the hotel for many years. She was a
happy server and possibly a bit of a racer at heart. She was quite active within the hotel and a true
friend to Japes. Bobbin lived in the town her entire life and knew everybody in the community.
This relationship gave him great insight not only into the hotel world, but also in the community.
The last server that he met that day was the front office manager Nod. Japes couldn t describe the
type of server that Nod was. At first sight he appeared to be a worker. He was

Doing Business In China Summary
Prior to reading the Harvard Business Review on Doing Business in China, I assumed that
business was a universal thing around the world. I assumed that business was the same in all
countries. I assumed that every country had the same end goals when it came to business. As a
result, I assumed that all countries followed a similar template for how business negotiations work.
I was under the assumption that business was all about numbers and money; I didn t expect to see
so much energy focused on creating relationships. I originally assumed Chinawas a very strict and
numbers based country when it came to business. In my mind, China was this giant country where
everything is made and manufactured at a lower price. As a result, I assumed that... Show more

As a result, Pepsi Co. has struggled to survive in the Chinese market. Pepsi Co. s equivalent to
Sprite, 7Up, has not been met by the acceptance that Sprite received. Sales of Pepsi to 7Up have
a ratio of 4:1 (Harvard Business Review on Doing Business in China). Ultimately telling us that
Pepsi has been unsuccessful at selling this product (In China, Coke Fights to Stay Ahead of
Pepsi). From reading about this, I have learned that it is critical that you understand you market
in order to be successful. This lesson that I learned is one that will help me in many of my future
classes. I look forward to traveling to China and observing peoples drink choices to see whether
Coca Cola is actually more common than Pepsi.
One of my favorite parts of this book was learning about how advertising differs in China. In
America, advertising is flashy. Many advertisements feature celebrities in hopes of gaining
consumers attention. Americans buy products they see celebrities using in hopes of becoming
more like the famous people they see using the products. This is very different from advertising
in China. In China, ads place a large focus on the facts. Product advertisements include the
features and specifications of a product. People in China want to know what the product is, how
it is used and how it works. There is less of an emphasis on trying to make a products look cool
instead the goal is to show the product and help it gain

The Legalization Of Hard Drugs
Trevor Allphin

David Visser
A Case for the Legalization of Hard Drugs in the U.S.
The issue of drug abuse is a sad reality in every community, and drug prohibition is present
across the globe. Whether it is under the guise of protection of family values, or public safety,
prohibition disrupts more than it maintains. Many people view drugs as a problem but they can
also be viewed as a problem solver. This essay will address the socioeconomic issues with
prohibition of hard drugs, and argue for their legalization.
Prohibition crowds prisons with non violent criminals, exposing otherwise innocent civilians to the
dangers of prison life, and the mental and physical damage it does to not only their own
livelihoods, but to their families as well. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, in 2011, out
of 197,050 inmates in federal prisons, 94,600 were incarcerated for drug related charges, while
only 14,900 for violent offenses. That equates to 48% of the entire federal prison population
being incarcerated for drugs, with violent offenders only adding to 7.56%. The FBI states that of
all drug arrests in 2011, 81.8% were for simple possession, the remaining 18.2% for sale and
distribution. Therefore, there are over 77,000 federal inmates that were non violent civilians, whose
only crime was carrying an illicit substance. With legalization (or at least decriminalization), neither
the risk of incarceration nor the risk in becoming involved with illegal, and often

Conflict Management Arbitration and Mediation
Conflict Management Arbitration and Mediation It is well recognized that the availability of
prompt, effective and economical means of dispute resolution is an important element in the
orderly growth and encouragement of international investment and trade. Increasingly, arbitration
and mediation, instead of litigation in national courts, have become the preferred means of
resolving international commercial disputes. Arbitration: Arbitration is a procedure in which a
dispute is submitted, by agreement of the parties, to an arbitrator or to a tribunal of several
arbitrators who give a decision on the dispute that is binding on the parties. In contrast to mediation,
once the parties have freely agreed to submit a dispute to arbitration, a party cannot unilaterally
withdraw from the arbitration. Expedited Arbitration: Expedited Arbitration is, as its name
suggests, a form of arbitration in which certain modifications are introduced in order to ensure that
the arbitration can be conducted and an award rendered in a shortened time frame and,
consequently, at a reduced cost. To achieve those objectives, the modifications provide for a sole
arbitrator (rather than a tribunal of several arbitrators), shortened time periods for each of the steps
involved in the arbitration proceedings, and condensed hearings before the sole arbitrator.
Mediation Followed, in the Absence of a Settlement, by Arbitration: This procedure combines,
sequentially, both mediation and arbitration. Where the

Sounding the Seventh Trumpet and Waking the Fallen
In mid 2001, it was reported that former bassist Justin Sane had attempted suicide by drinking
excessive amounts of cough syrup. The attempt had an impact on the band s Take Action Tour.
After lead guitarist Synyster Gates joined the band, at the end of 1999 when he was 18, the
introductory track To End the Rapture was re recorded featuring a full band element. The album
was subsequently re released on Hopeless Records in 2002. The band started to receive recognition,
performing with bands such as Mushroomhead and Shadows Fall and playing on the Take Action
Tour.
Having found a new bassist, Johnny Christ, the group released their second studio album titled
Waking the Fallen on Hopeless Records in August 2003. The album featured a more refined and
mature sound production in comparison to their previous album. The band received profiles in
Billboard and The Boston Globe, and played in the Vans Warped Tour. In 2004, Avenged
Sevenfold toured again on the Vans Warped Tour and recorded a video for their song Unholy
Confessions which went into rotation on MTV2 s Headbanger s Ball. Shortly after the release of
Waking the Fallen, Avenged Sevenfold left Hopeless Records and were signed to Warner Bros.
Records.

In Passing Nella Larsen Summary
The issues between the characters race and identity is a consequence of the judgemental culture.
Clare and Irene construct their identities by passing. By keeping their black heritage a secret, they
are afforded many privileges as white women, such as health and safety from discrimination,
exclusion and racial violence.
In Passing Nella Larsen seems to suggest that identity is a hazy fiction one tells that outward
appearances and surface events only partly confirm. (Thaggert, 2005)
Clare implies that she thinks her lifestyle is superior to those women that always remain black.
Her obsession with passing has formed her identity and became so normal to her, Clare had a trick
of sliding down ivory lids over astonishing black eyes and then lifting them suddenly and turning on
a caressing smile (Larsen, p.83). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are examples in the text that clearly show how identity is never known, Never, when she
was alone, had they even remotely seemed to suspect that she was a negro (Larsen, p.10). Irene
has more pride for her black heritage yet remains paranoid at the way society may treat her
because of it. Therefore, her racial identity remains fluid as she blends in like any other white
woman who has tea in a white only section. She is very wary of her race being detected, which is
demonstrated early in the text, Did that woman, could that woman, somehow know that here
before her very eyes on the roof of the Drayton Sat a negro? (Larsen, p.8). This may suggest that
she is too fragile with passing. She knows her black identity and this worries her. She knows what
society would think of her if they knew. Passing for white meant being treated with respect, rather
than disdain and so being found out would ruin this life for her. Race is what limits Irene, She was
caught between two allegiances, different, yet the same. Herself. Her race. Race!. The thing that

Salt Spring Island Research Paper
This is a brief introduction about the place where I m living at this moment: Salt Spring Island.
I will talk about the Island and the people as far as I am able, given my short residence here (I just
arrived 4 months ago).
The Island is located in the Gulf Islands, in the Juan de Fuca Strait between Vancouver and Victoria
in British Columbia, Canada.
Warm weather, virgin nature, beautiful beaches, and colorful people make this place very unique.
The most recent census of the island reports almost 10,000 permanent residents. This number
increases during the summer with lots of tourists and temporary residents.
Most of the people who moved to the island in the 60 s and 70 s were peace activists: U.S. draft
dodgers refusing to serve in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It`s a good place to discover yourself, thus many visitors come to get inspired by the people living
here. There is a special healing energy that you can breathe in everywhere.
The cultural life is surprisingly rich for such a small community; there is a film festival in March,
many concerts and events at the Artspring, a modern theatre. The cinema is located in an old
Church, which is very charming.
There are very interesting and open minded people to talk to everywhere: in the coffee shops,
waiting in the post office line, or walking on a beach.
Saturday s Market is always well attended by locals, tourists and even people from other parts of
BC; you can find incredible produce there as the island has more than 110 farms, most of which
are organic. Moreover, artisan cheeses, breads, beers, and specialty foods can be purchased from
the local artisans. Paintings, sculptures, woodcarvings, pottery, jewelry, bees wax candles and
handmade clothing are also available for

The NFL Protest Argument
During the pre season of the 2016 National Football League season, San Francisco 49ers
quarterback Colin Kaepernick sat for the National Anthem to protest racial injustice within the
United States. When asked why he sat, he stated, I ve been very clear from the beginning that I m
against the systematic oppression of black Americans (Willingham). The quarterback received some
negative reaction to his method of protestand, after three games, met with former NFL player and
Army veteran Nate Boyer to discuss his protest. During this meeting, Kaepernick agreed with
Boyer and decided kneeling during the anthem was a more respectful form of protest
(Willingham). Since that time, many NFL players joined Kaepernick in his protest and continue to
kneel during the playing of the anthem. Through this silent, non violent protest, many
uncomfortable questions are now at the forefront of American cultural discussion. To date,
Kaepernick alone has paid a price for the protest actions as currently he is not playing in the NFL
since no team would dare sign such a controversial player. In addition, the President of the United
States, Donald Trump, recently jumped into the debate during a speech calling any player who
kneels a son of a bitch and stating they should lose their jobs (Jenkins). The President also inferred
the protests are disrespectful to the American flag and to the members of the United States military.
This background on the NFL protests raises several questions

  • 2. Reaction Paper On Punarnava Punarnava (Boerhaavia diffusa L.) is a promising drug to rejuvenate new cells in body. It is well known in Ayurvedic medicine and locally called Tambadivasu. Superficially it is similar to other species of Boerhaavia and species of Trianthema and Sesuvium. Due to the minute morphological differences, above plants are erroneously used in medicine as Punarnava, and at times on purpose as an adulterant. Therefore, it is necessary to highlight the anatomical features of Punarnava for proper identification of the medicinal plantspecies for local people and for scientific research. Due to the ambiguity in local names and similar apparent appearance, market samples of Punarnava are often adulterated with various species of Trianthema and Sesuvium. These adulterated samples contain neither the Punarnavine alkaloid, nor does it possess anisocytic stomata. Comparative study of stem anatomy showed two main characteristic differences. First, plenty of starch grains can be seen in both the ground tissues and xylem parenchyma of Punarnava which is not observed in species of Trianthema, and second, the phloem around the xylem of Punarnava root has semi circular or... • 3. Taking a Look at Virtualization VIRTUALIZATION Virtualization is a concept in which access to a single underlying piece of hardware, like a server ,is coordinated so that multiple guest operating systems can share that single piece of hardware ,with no guest operating system being aware that it is actually sharing anything at all. Working mechanism Virtualization software tackles the issue by empowering many operating systems and applications to run on one physical server or host. Each independent virtual machine is secluded from the others, and uses as a great part the host s computing resources. Contrast b/w (OS) the Guest OS The host is the virtual machine host server; the underlying hardware that gives computing resources, for example processing power, memory, disk and network I/O etc. The guest is a totally separate and independent instance of an operating system and application software. Guests are the virtual workloads that dwell on a host virtual machine and contribute in that server s computing resources. Packages Hardware virtualization alludes to the production of a virtual machine that demonstrations like a true computer with an operating system. Software executed on these virtual machines is divided from the underlying hardware resources. Desktop virtualization is the idea of differentiating the logical desktop from the physical machine .One type of desktop virtualization, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), could be thought as a more advanced form of hardware virtualization. ... • 5. Comparative Analysis Of Adaptive Threshold Based Spectrum... Comparative Analysis of Adaptive Threshold Based Spectrum Sensing Techniques in Cognitive Radio Networks Abstract: In the last two decades, the number of wireless communication users and its applications increasing rapidly. With this rapid growth there exists spectrum scarcity. One of the best solutions to avoid spectrum scarcity is cognitive radio with its dynamic spectrum sensing. Cognitive radio is a promising technology, which is used to sense the unused spectrum in an appropriate manner. Various methods have been proposed in the past, such as energy detection, matched filterand so on [1 6 7]. Different techniques serve different purpose based on their advantages and disadvantages. In this paper, the author suggests an approach of dynamic threshold to increase the probability detection of spectrum sensing. Spectrum sensing using energy detection, matched filter detectors based on fixed threshold and dynamic threshold are simulated using MATLAB. The performance of energy detection, matched filter detector is compared by plotting probability detection versus signal to noise ratio graph. Keywords: Spectrum Sensing, Cognitive Radio, Wireless Communication, Energy Detection, Matched Filter, Probability Detection and Threshold. I. Introduction: The recent trend in cognitive radio related research has altered s great of deal of interest in spectrum sensing and detection of radio users in the environment [5]. • 6. Dr Strangelove Analysis The movie Dr. Strangelove is a comedic movie but the issius it brings to light were very serious at the time and issues concerning nuclear war are still very present in our lives today. The cold war was a scary time for the world people and it s speculated to be the closest humankind has ever come to becoming obsolete. There was lots of fear and suspension expression in the movie and that was similar to how it was in real life during the cold war. Although there are some ridiculous aspects of the film Dr. Strangelove it underlines something that could have happened extremely easily during this time. In Dr. Strangelove the world is at the brink of becoming completely decimated by the USSR s and the United states nuclear arsenals. When watching the movie you may find some parts of it ridiculous but most of the movie is accurate to what was going on in our military and government at this time just made more dramatic. At this time the lives of millions were in the hands of just a few men high up in the military and government. Any wrong action or statement by them could end up starting a nuclear war. It s not crazy to think that one rouge commander under all the stress and suspicion going on from the red scare would order an attack on the USSR during this time. There was a lot of conspiracies going around about communist schemes to infect the united states such as the one that putting fluoride in the water was a way the communists were attacking the USA. • 8. Fathers Playing Catch With Sons By Donald Hall Trevor Lee Mr. Church English III 6 March 2015 Sports The poems I choose to write about were Fathers Playing Catch with Sons by Donald Hall and This is the Day by Tim Peeler. Both of these sports poems were written in the twentieth century, and have a similar style and theme The first poem I choose, Father Playing Catch with Sons by Donald Hall, was written in 1984. This poem is written about a game of baseball. The scene is set in the bottom of the ninth inning. He is up to bat with the bases loaded, and his team is trailing. The first pitch thrown is a slider, and the hitter fouls it off his cup. The author describes the next pitch as an Express Freight. Meaning the ball came in at a high velocity with a lot of power, just as a train would. He swings, but he is just behind. The ball is popped foul. Then the poem takes a quick turn into a basketball scene. The player is standing at the line with two shots to win. The gym is quiet. He missed the first one. He bounces the ball and misses the next. His team loses, and he says he disappears and changes his name. This poem is describing the big moments in a sports, such as trying to take the game winning shot or being the last one up to bat in the bottom of the ninth inning. When in this situation everyone is counting on you to make a big play, and that is a lot of pressure. If you don t people are mad or disappointed in you, and it is hard to hold your head high after this. • 9. Persepolis Gender Analysis In American Born Chinese and in Persepolis, both protagonists hate their nationality and wish they were normal. Being a minority can be difficult at times. Sometimes, minorities are looked down upon and just wish that they could be normal like the rest of the people they are surrounded by. In Persepolis, Satrapi was asked what race she was and lied in response to gain others respect and to be seen as an equal. In the graphic novel, the panel used at this time shows tense emotions by the action lines seen and the facial expressions. When she lies, the entire background is black and she looks sad. Satrapi does not maintain eye contact when she lied because she was embarrassed and knew she made a mistake. With the gutters between the scenes, we can assume how she is feeling after lying. Occasionally, ignorant people will assume that you are just like your race. In Satrapi s case, people would see her as a terrorist. Satrapi lied so that the boy she liked would view her as a normal person, not just some terrorist. In American Born Chinese, Jin Wang also denied his nationality to be seen as normal by society. When Wang was introduced to class, a boy made a joke saying, Don t you people eat dogs? . Racism due to being a minority can affect how much one wants to express their culture. If people are intolerant of others, they have a tendency to hide their culture. Wang was also classmates with a another Asian girl, which he never talked to because his classmates would make racist jokes about arranged marriages. When another Asian boy was introduced to the class, Wang wanted to hit him because he fit the stereotypes of the Asian culture. He was depicted wearing glasses, dressing in horrendous clothing, having an accent, and having squinty eyes. Wang did not want to associate with the new kid. When the new kid spoke the Chinese language, Wang was mad. His eyebrows were squinted and he told him You re in America. Speak English. In general, both the protagonist from the stories hid their nationalism so that they would not be picked on. They both need to accept their nationalism in order to mature. In both graphic novels, both protagonists, Wang and Satrapi, want to fit in with white America. Satrapi spends a good ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Management Control System CHAPTER 22 MANAGEMENT CONTROL SYSTEMS, TRANSFER PRICING, AND MULTINATIONAL CONSIDERATIONS 22 1A management control system is a means of gathering and using information to aid and coordinate the planning and control decisions throughout the organization and to guide the behavior of its managers and employees. The goal of the system is to improve the collective decisions within an organization. 22 2To be effective, management control systems should be (a) closely aligned to an organization s strategies and goals, (b) designed to fit the organization s structure and the decision making responsibility of individual managers, and (c) able to motivate managers and employees to put in effort to attain selected goals desired by top ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 22 12Reasons why a dual pricing approach to transfer pricing is not widely used in practice include: 1.The manager of the supplying division uses a cost based method to record revenues and does not have sufficient incentives to control costs. 2.This approach does not provide clear signals to division managers about the level of decentralization top management wants. 3. This approach tends to insulate managers from the frictions of the marketplace because costs, not market prices, affect the revenues of the supplying division. 4. It leads to problems in computing the taxable income of subunits located in different tax jurisdictions. 22 13Disagree. Cost and price information are often useful starting points in the negotiation process. Costs, particularly variable costs of the selling division, serve as a floor below which the selling division would be unwilling to sell. Prices that the buying division would pay to purchase products from the outside market serves as a ceiling above which the buying division would be unwilling to buy. The price negotiated by the two divisions will, in general, have no specific relationship to either costs or prices. But the negotiated price will generally fall between the variable costs based floor and the market price based ceiling. 22 14 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the poem Dream of the Rood, the author explains the sacrifice through the point of view of the cross while also including diction related closely to battle or war. One of these instances is, I beheld Glory s trunk / garnished with grandeur (14 15). However, further on the author then discusses how signs of ancient strife:/ beneath that gold (18 19), had begun to show. Although, the minor campaign turned out to be a costly failure, the event made a huge impact on the Australian soldiers and women. The attack also contributed greatly to the development of the Anzac Legend as the Australian men presented their true Aussie culture to the world. The Australian soldiers faced extremely tough conditions during their attack on Gallipoli. They were in constant danger, always exposed to enemy fire whilst the Turks held high ground. They fought with lethal weapons and were required to wear gas masks during battle with the constant fear of poisonous gas. On the home front, women were trained for men s jobs so that more men could enlist. These women were eager to comply as these traditionally male jobs received higher pay. Many women also frequently volunteered to help the soldiers at war. They sewed and knitted warm clothes for the men and raised money to help those affected by the war. Usually in 2D visual communication covers a wide range of genres including art, ideograms, typography, photography, illustration, graphic design and many others. In this essay I will try to evidence the natural evolution of readability and legibility in visual communication and how it s progression reached its pinnacle before the beginning of post modernism. I will look as far back as the first known instances of visual communication, the cave paintings, and target key elements to the evolution and progression of visual communication including ideograms, the alphabet, scribes, the printing press, slave ship diagrams, the Renaissance, Leonardo Da Vinci and the Avantgarde, before concentrating on the change from Modernism to post modernism. In my essay readability refers to the ease in which we can read the piece and legibility discuses the message it is trying to convey. It is my View that Visual communication, for the most part; naturally progressed over time due to the influence of previous developments. I believe that this reached its pinnacle during modernism and experienced a drastic change during post modernism. The main theory that i will be trying to evidence is the natural progression and evolution of readability and legibility in visual communication until the beginning of post modernism The earliest known form of visual communication is Indonesian cave paintings dated at ... • 18. Descriptive Essay About Long Flight Yawning and still feeling sleep deprived despite having just woken up from a nap, I always forget how exhausting these long haul flights can be. Although I adore these summer flights flying back and forth between Vancouver and Japan, it takes a toll on my body. Squirming my way through the aisles, hopping over loose legs and skimming past lolling heads, I make my way back to the front of the plane. Working up front is the best; it s quiet and peaceful and overall it smells nicer than economy. Upon returning to the front galley, my colleague catches me up on what needs to be done before leaving for her break. She handed out snacks and topped up on beverages 5 minutes ago, however most of our passengers are sleeping comfortably in their seats wrapped in blankets and neck pillows. Warning me to pay particular attention to the gentleman at 2H, who has had more than enough whiskey for the evening, she places a glass of water at his side and disappears behind the curtain to our crew seats. Peering into the dimly lit cabin, 2H seems to have fallen into a deep and soundless slumber. Walking through the cabin, I collect empty cups and snack wrappers while topping up half full water glasses, however everybody is out cold. The few passengers who were stirring are now fast asleep, mouths hanging open. Glancing over at 2H, I see a Japanese middle aged man (although, he could have been older...the Japanese age magnificently) dressed rather professionally sitting next to his wife. Although ... • 21. The Attribute And Function Of The Satguru Essay Reiterating yet again the salvific attribute and function of the Satguru, the Pir reminds his addressees that the Satguru has come to the terrestrial plane and has brought with Him, the secret knowledge of spiritual freedom and adds that through embrace of the NЕ«r of the Satguru, one attains immortality. The first two lines of this verse, which are almost similar to the opening two lines of the eleventh verse of this composition, reaffirm that the Satguru is indeed the custodian of the knowledge of, and holder of the key to, salvation. This fact resonates with the stipulation in the preamble of the Ismaili Constitution that Imam s Ta lim lights the murids path to spiritual enlightenment and vision. Essentially, these two lines encapsulate the theme of the redemptive attribute and role of the Satguru, discussed in verses eleven, eighteen, nineteen, twenty three and twenty six of this granth. Apart from serving as a reminder to the believers to seek emancipation through the Satguru, the Ginans, through their persistent emphasis on the redemptive function of the Satguru, seek to highlight the fact that, leading the faithful to spiritual liberation is one of the most significant roles of the Satguru and may as well be His raison d ГЄtre. Thus, one of the recurring themes of the Ginans is mukti or salvation, just as the most frequent entreaty found in Ginans is for deliverance, while one of the commonest appellations of the Satguru in the Ginans is tДЃraṇhДЃr, which ... People require daily nourishment, and bond over sharing meals together. The most basic of human needs are those that are required for physical safety. Without nourishment, a body will die. Entire communities have been devastated by famines in history. Authors of the 20th century from various countries understood the significance of finding food to sustain the body. When there is scarcity of food, it dominates a person s interests over other needs like social and emotional needs. This provides a window of opportunity in literature. When a character experiences hunger, it strips them down to their most basic form, as a body needing to survive. Hunger in literature causes people to break social customs and behave in ways they otherwise would not. As civilized behaviors and customs are replaced with the desire to survive, characters respond with both great selfishness and selflessness depending on their inner condition. A novel that provides many examples of this is Blindness, the 1995 novel by Portuguese author JosГ© Saramago. Analysis Of The Goat Herder Dilemma Introduction Before I joined the Army, one of my mentors sat me down, looked me sternly in the face and said, Even though you are not going into the infantry, even though you might not deploy, at some point in time the Army may put you in a situation and ask that you take another person s life. You need to square yourself with that. If you cannot do that and pull that trigger when that time comes, then you should not join. It is important for new officers to think about how they will make ethical decisions and what choices they may face. Conducting a cost benefit analysis when faced with two unethical options is an effective way of choosing the least bad option and resulting relative cost. The United States has ratified international laws such as the law of armed conflict that govern how and in what manner the United States will conduct warfare. Within these documents are definitions of non combatants and protected peoples who will not be brutalized or killed during the conduct of war. However, revolutionaries and insurgents frequently use these ethical guidelines against greater powers. Insurgent tactics may include the use of women and children to detonate or carry an explosive or use them as a reconnaissance force. Adhering to the ethical law and rules that guide U.S. soldiers may result in mission failure and the death or some or many of your teammates. The first poem I am going to examine is digging by Seamus Heaney. I will first comment on the title of the poem. Digging has both a metaphorical and literal meaning to it. The literal meaning is that his father and his grandfather are farmers. The poem talks about the men Digging and working, so this explains the literal meaning of the poem. The metaphorical meaning is that Seamus Heaney is Digging into his past and back round, which is farming. So, the title is rather effective. Now I will examine the rest of the poem. Firstly, I will look at, and comment on, the first stanza. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This makes his father sound very professional. It sounds as if he wants us to admire his father. Once again, the word digging is repeated in the literal sense. The first line of the fourth stanza also implies that his father was very professional by using technical words such as lug and shaft and then again in the second line; levered firmly . In the last line of this stanza, tactile imagery is used. It reads loving their cool hardness in our hands The fifth stanza is only two lines long, and is said in a rather conversational tone; as if Seamus Heaney is speaking it in a general conversation. It isn t like a poem at all. It says By god the old man could handle a spade . He is boasting here, like a child in a playground. It conveys a boastful, bragging tone. Just like his old man sets in motion the chain of memory. The sixth stanza starts of in the same boastful tone as the fifth stanza was. My grandfather cut more turf in a day, than any other man on Toner s bog . This is also said in a conversational tone. He seems very proud of his grandfather, just like he does his father. His grandfather must have been good at his job. He then contrasts his grandfather s work, by explaining of how he carried in a bottle of milk to his grandfather once, corked sloppily with paper . It seems as if he doesn t feel that he is as good as if father and grandfather were. Once again, in the seventh stanza, the word digging ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ronald Reagan delivered a speech emphasizing the nation s strength and to honor the 7 crew members who died. In his speech he justifies that everything is okay and to honor those who died. The Challenger Disaster effectively repairs the nation with it s tone, rhetorical appeals, and rhetorical tools. The negative connotation in this speech brings out the somber tone. He confidently speaks about each of these things even though they are sad. He doesn t let the negative connotation take away from the confident tone of his speech. A second rhetorical tool he used was the use of pronouns to include the audience. He is always using pronouns to make the audience feel like they are a part of it, we ve grown to used to wonders in this century (paragraph 4) . We will never forget them, nor the last time we saw them (paragraph 8) , he could have said he will never forget them but instead he said we and that one word changes the whole idea of the statement. A Trip At The New World Japes traveled for almost three days before he arrived in the new world, a relaxing trip as the meandering trail passed many beautiful country estates a far cry from the bustling metropolis and quite unexpected. When he finally arrived at the new hotel, he was surprised by the quaint elegance. This would be the first time he worked at a Hilltop Hotela chain known for its unparalleled commitment to customer service. He was welcomed to the hotel by a nice young bellman, his new boss, however, was on vacation, just the same he was determined to evaluate the lay of the land on his own. The cafeteria was all dark grey concrete with a small salad bar set to the side. It looked like a prison cell. The laundry area and housekeeping department were also all in concrete. The building was much older than he had thought, although it looked almost new on the outside. Japes entire focus changed from the hotel to the servers managing the hotel. He had been enamored with the excitement in the activities of the guests and the servers with whom he worked. Now, he was more curious about the managers he oversaw than the servers who interacted with the guests. It was a tremendous change in perspective. Japes wanted to have fun as he enjoyed in his previous jobs, but he also wanted to be a leader. His next introduction was to Bobbin. Bobbin was the reservation manager who worked at the hotel for many years. She was a happy server and possibly a bit of a racer at heart. She was quite active within the hotel and a true friend to Japes. Bobbin lived in the town her entire life and knew everybody in the community. I assumed that business was the same in all countries. I assumed that every country had the same end goals when it came to business. As a result, I assumed that all countries followed a similar template for how business negotiations work. I was under the assumption that business was all about numbers and money; I didn t expect to see so much energy focused on creating relationships. Many advertisements feature celebrities in hopes of gaining consumers attention. Americans buy products they see celebrities using in hopes of becoming more like the famous people they see using the products. This is very different from advertising in China. In China, ads place a large focus on the facts. Product advertisements include the features and specifications of a product. • 45. The Legalization Of Hard Drugs Trevor Allphin ENC1101 David Visser A Case for the Legalization of Hard Drugs in the U.S. The issue of drug abuse is a sad reality in every community, and drug prohibition is present across the globe. Whether it is under the guise of protection of family values, or public safety, prohibition disrupts more than it maintains. Many people view drugs as a problem but they can also be viewed as a problem solver. This essay will address the socioeconomic issues with prohibition of hard drugs, and argue for their legalization. Prohibition crowds prisons with non violent criminals, exposing otherwise innocent civilians to the dangers of prison life, and the mental and physical damage it does to not only their own livelihoods, but to their families as well. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, in 2011, out of 197,050 inmates in federal prisons, 94,600 were incarcerated for drug related charges, while only 14,900 for violent offenses. That equates to 48% of the entire federal prison population being incarcerated for drugs, with violent offenders only adding to 7.56%. The FBI states that of all drug arrests in 2011, 81.8% were for simple possession, the remaining 18.2% for sale and distribution. Therefore, there are over 77,000 federal inmates that were non violent civilians, whose only crime was carrying an illicit substance. • 46. Conflict Management Arbitration and Mediation Conflict Management Arbitration and Mediation It is well recognized that the availability of prompt, effective and economical means of dispute resolution is an important element in the orderly growth and encouragement of international investment and trade. Increasingly, arbitration and mediation, instead of litigation in national courts, have become the preferred means of resolving international commercial disputes. Arbitration: Arbitration is a procedure in which a dispute is submitted, by agreement of the parties, to an arbitrator or to a tribunal of several arbitrators who give a decision on the dispute that is binding on the parties. In contrast to mediation, once the parties have freely agreed to submit a dispute to arbitration, a party cannot unilaterally withdraw from the arbitration. Expedited Arbitration: Expedited Arbitration is, as its name suggests, a form of arbitration in which certain modifications are introduced in order to ensure that the arbitration can be conducted and an award rendered in a shortened time frame and, consequently, at a reduced cost. To achieve those objectives, the modifications provide for a sole arbitrator (rather than a tribunal of several arbitrators), shortened time periods for each of the steps involved in the arbitration proceedings, and condensed hearings before the sole arbitrator. Mediation Followed, in the Absence of a Settlement, by Arbitration: This procedure combines, sequentially, both mediation and arbitration. Where the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. In Passing Nella Larsen Summary The issues between the characters race and identity is a consequence of the judgemental culture. Clare and Irene construct their identities by passing. By keeping their black heritage a secret, they are afforded many privileges as white women, such as health and safety from discrimination, exclusion and racial violence. In Passing Nella Larsen seems to suggest that identity is a hazy fiction one tells that outward appearances and surface events only partly confirm. (Thaggert, 2005) Clare implies that she thinks her lifestyle is superior to those women that always remain black. Her obsession with passing has formed her identity and became so normal to her, Clare had a trick of sliding down ivory lids over astonishing black eyes and then lifting them suddenly and turning on a caressing smile (Larsen, p.83). Therefore, her racial identity remains fluid as she blends in like any other white woman who has tea in a white only section. She is very wary of her race being detected, which is demonstrated early in the text, Did that woman, could that woman, somehow know that here before her very eyes on the roof of the Drayton Sat a negro? • 51. The NFL Protest Argument During the pre season of the 2016 National Football League season, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick sat for the National Anthem to protest racial injustice within the United States. When asked why he sat, he stated, I ve been very clear from the beginning that I m against the systematic oppression of black Americans (Willingham). The quarterback received some negative reaction to his method of protestand, after three games, met with former NFL player and Army veteran Nate Boyer to discuss his protest. During this meeting, Kaepernick agreed with Boyer and decided kneeling during the anthem was a more respectful form of protest (Willingham). Since that time, many NFL players joined Kaepernick in his protest and continue to kneel during the playing of the anthem. Through this silent, non violent protest, many uncomfortable questions are now at the forefront of American cultural discussion. To date, Kaepernick alone has paid a price for the protest actions as currently he is not playing in the NFL since no team would dare sign such a controversial player. In addition, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, recently jumped into the debate during a speech calling any player who kneels a son of a bitch and stating they should lose their jobs (Jenkins). The President also inferred the protests are disrespectful to the American flag and to the members of the United States military. This background on the NFL protests raises several questions ...
