Essay Orientalism
Misunderstanding between East and West has become so common today that the clash between the
two civilizations has become a clichГ©. In recent history, numerous wars and conflicts have
erupted as a result of Occidental misperceptions of the Orient and vice versa. To the European
mind, the Maghreb, Persia, the Levant, Arabia, Anatolia, and the adjacent lands are but a single
entity evoking poetic visions of the Orient. While it may be true that among these regions, certain
commonalities exist, diversity and the richness of several cultures more aptly describes the Orient.

Whether general or specific, the West s perception of the East is just that a perception it is the
view of an outsider, not reality. The problem this creates is that the Orient is merely what the
West has decided it is. The East is alien and therefore it can be studied with a pretense of
objectivity and distance without the constraints of veracity. It was the romantic images of an
exotic Oriental civilization promulgated by European and American writers that prejudiced Vander
Sluis upon her arrival in Turkey. However beautiful, the Orient was a backward place to Western
sensibilities. She initially believes that Muslims of the Orient were unreached people who can be
evangelized and brought into the Western and Christian sphere (Vander Sluis 274). Rather than
being unreached, the Turks Vander Sluis encounters are even more fervent in their religious
convictions than she. Making such broad assumptions about people of another culture is not only
unfair to the people who are judged, but also unnecessarily limits the opportunities and experiences
of those who pass judgment. Vander Sluis warns her readers to avoid the stereotypes she brought
with her to Turkey so that, unlike her, we can appreciate the goodness of the people we encounter
in life without suspicion. The specter of Orientalism is so pervasive in Vander Sluis s experience
that it initially prevents her from accepting the hospitality of her hosts

Prescription Drug Prices in the U.S
Prescription Drug Prices in the U.S. The prices of prescription drugs in the United States are by
far the highest in the world. [1] On average, Europeans pay 40% less than Americans for the same
medications. [2] Consumers have been resorting to several ways, sometimes putting themselves in
harm s way, to alleviate the burden of high prescription drug costs. Some buy their medications
online or cross the borders to neighboring countries so they would be able to afford buying their
needed medications. Others have resorted to the illegal act of selling their unused medications in
online forums just to recover part of their expenses. Many factors contribute to the increased drug
prices in the United States including research and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pharmaceutical companies are provided with temporary monopoly rights on the production of
new drugs which result in a higher cost on consumers. If competing companies were allowed to
produce generic forms of those drugs, consumers will be able to afford those medications even in
cases where those consumers have no insurance coverage. The company responsible for
developing and inventing the original medication could be offered incentives to invent in the
future by either obtaining tax breaks or NIH funding for future research. They could even be
offered a percentage of the sales of the generic drugs. Economist Gary S. Becker advocates
dropping many FDA requirements that, in his opinion, provide no additional safety measures but
rather delay the development of new drugs.[12] Betamethasone, for example, has been part of the
standard prenatal care in Europe since the late 1970 s while it got adopted in the U.S. after 1997.
On many occasions, the FDA ignores all scientific evidence concerning certain drugs because the
manufacturer did not follow their mandated bureaucratic standards. Many countries such as
Canada, India, and the UK have price controls. The governments of these countries impose
regulations that control the prices of new drugs as well as generics without compromising safety
but at the same time they do not burden pharmaceutical companies

Managing Business Strategy And Growth
MANAGING BUSINESS STRATEGY AND GROWTH
1.0. Introduction
Small business enterprises form special economic component of a given country. As such the
strategies should be put in place to ensure their proliferation and continued generation of profit to
the owners and revenues to the government. Small businesses are also source of employment for
most individuals who are unlucky to be employed by the multibillion corporate and other middle
level companies and organizations. Management strategies are plans that are put in place by either
government or the business owners to ensure that their businesses are being driven towards growth
and enhanced profitability. The strategies put in place are usually well researched and organized in
steps and stages that can easily be followed to ensure the development of the small firm and their
continued existence. This paper will be looking at a small business firm, analyze its intellectual
capital resources and come up with recommendations and proposals that will help to boost the total
growth and profitability of that particular business firm. The paper will look at into the strategic
intents of the business firm, document and designate the intellectual capital resources required by
the business venture in order to grow. The competitive advantage position of the venture will be
analyzed according to the resource based theory and give recommendations that will improve the
chances of the successfulness of the identified small business firm

Present Wireless Scenario Consists Of Homogeneous Network...
Present wireless scenario consists of homogeneous network and heterogeneous networks. In
homogeneous network each base station has similar transmit power level, antenna pattern,
receiver noise floor and similar backhaul connectivity. But this type of network has disadvantage
of coverage hole. In heterogeneous network the macro BSs is collocated with micro, pico and
femto cells. This arrangement increases overall spectral efficiency per unit area (capacity) of
the network. Whereas small cell like micro, pico, femto and relays are used to avoid coverage
hole and to provide mobility to the users. Not only this relays can be used to provide backhaul
connectivity, where wire line link is not possible or are expensive to deploy. As determined by
the information theoretic capacity limits, current cellular systems have evolved to a point where a
system with one BS achieves near optimal performance. Researchers are now moving towards
more advanced heterogeneous network topology which will bring the network more closely to the
mobile user leading to further capacity gains [46 49]. HetNets will significantly improve the
spectral efficiency per unit area by utilizing a diverse set of BSs. 1.4Elements of Heterogeneous
Network Heterogeneous deployment need to use innovative cell association and inter celling
interference coordination techniques in order to realize the promised capacity and coverage gains.
A typical heterogeneous wireless technology as shown in figure 1.4 has the

Hector Guimard s Influence
Hector Guimard was a master of the French Art Nouveau movement, playing a significant role
designing architecture and furniture. He was born in Lyon, France, on March 10, 1867, and died in
New York City, on May 20, 1942, at the age of 75. His architectural career spanned two centuries,
however his influence is ever present in modern design. His most noteworthy accomplishment can
be found throughout the streets of Paris mГ©tro entrance gates. Infused with nature and organic
lines, these once unpopular gates now quintessentially represent the Art Nouveaustyle. Made from
iron and glass, their unique and graceful organic forms effectively chauffeured this new movement
into the realm of popular culture. Guimard s predominant efforts throughout... Show more content

That said, only a few publicly installed gates remain in Paris today, including the original, Porte
Dauphine. A few others were relocated to New York, Chicago and Montreal, Canada the second
largest primarily French speaking city in the world, sharing many cultural characteristics with
France. The remaining gates, admired and seen as individual pieces of art, are now considered
classic and historical examples of French Art Nouveau architecture. In the eyes of many, French
Art Nouveau is best represented by the his mГ©tro entrances. However, these gates weren t
always as appreciated as they are today. The Parisian press and citizens both grew tired of
Guimard shortly after the gates were complete. His reputation declined rapidly and his attitude
was seemingly disrespectful toward his country . The French claimed he had lost his patriotism,
or his Vive la France , (meaning long live France ) which is a popular expression representing
patriotism in France. Guimard s lack of being appreciated and his fear of the Nazi Party (his wife
was Jewish) forced him to move to the United States in 1938, and he was largely forgotten when he

A Critical Analysis Of Efficacy Of Commercial Biofeedback...
A critical analysis of efficacy of commercial biofeedback devices on motor recovery in lower limb
among stroke patients.
A stroke is one of the most serious diseases which threatens public health worldwide. A prevalence
of a stroke increases with age, but it is not a natural part of the aging process. According to
Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) (2013), more than 375,000 Australians had
suffered by stroke in 2009 and 70% of them were more than aged 65. Furthermore, more than a
third of Australians among them had a disability from the stroke (AIHW 2013). A stroke often
leaves people with paralysis, balance problem, cognitive problem, speech impairment and loss of
memory depends on which part of the brain is affected. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are several equipment that can examine changes of brain activity, and one of the
commonly used devices is functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging(fMRI), which measures the
brain oxygen level dependent(BOLD) signal to recognize any changes of brain activity (Cheung
et al. 2014). When the stroke patients were asked to perform active motion of their paretic leg,
altered cerebral activation was monitored compared to healthy individuals (Din et al. 2014).
According to Katherine et al. (2014), both brains of healthy individuals and stroke patients
showed an alteration of brain network followed by learning a new task. Additionally, stroke
patients tend to rely on other brain regions to support motor function compared to healthy
individuals (Cheung et al. 2014). This altered activation of the brain may be a neural strategy to
produce performance despite insulted ipsilesional region of the brain. The processes of motor
impairment of post stroke in the paretic lower limb has not been fully discovered, but some
assumptions are addressed by Arene and Hidler (2009). Firstly, descending input to the spinal cord
from the corticospinal and reticulospinal descending tract can be lost or reduced by a stroke, which
leads to inability to produce voluntary movement and reduction of muscle force (Arene Hidler
2009). Secondly, interruption of descending tract from supraspinal center due to aberrant timing of
muscle activation can cause balance impairment and

Dueling for Dollars Review
In the world of online casino play, there is a small selection of names that command more
attention than others, with Galaxy Gaming certainly standing tall as one of them. Starting life all
the way back in 2006, for over a decade they have been known as a name that players can count

Speed runs absolutely rampant here, as it lives up to its ultimate no brainer tag, with play
handled in just a single click. What this game represents as the name implies is a form a high
card battle. So, it s one deck, two cards, and a true test of bottle, with players battling the dealer in
order to win big. We love games that just get to the point, with Duelling for Dollars doing that in a
rather spectacular fashion.
Duelling for Dollars is incredibly fun to play, but it does carry a few issues when it comes to
payouts, as this game just isn t as stacked as other Galaxy Gaming titles. Most of the payouts in
this game are token offerings at best, ranging between $20 and just a $1. Free Duelling for Dollars
is a really fun game, but when it comes to prizes it s a case of little and often.
From Single Card to a Super Win!
Honestly, anyone of any skill level should be able to play free Duelling for Dollars with minimal
fuss. Things kick off when you decide on your wager, then you just need to update any side bets
you wish to invoke before officially starting the game. After doing the aforementioned, you ll be
dealt a single card (so will the dealer), with the highest card of the two winning the game round.
This game really is just that simple when it comes to understanding how to play.

Imperialism In Uganda
During the imperialism in Africa, a lot of different events happened in Uganda. The imperialism
had effects on the country, some of the effects benefited the country, and some did not. Mostly, it
did not benefit the country. The British did most things to only benefit themselves, and did not care
about what happened to the citizens of Uganda. The British only wanted power over the country,
and to make a profit. Before the imperialism, Uganda was a prosperous country. They were one of
the most powerful and the largest kingdoms in Africa. was heralded for its royal history and
development as a center of learning and culture...it descended into chaos and destruction with the

They also had truces now with other organizations, like the UNFR. There was a organization
called the Lord s Resistance Army and they would attack the country. They kidnapped children
and caused more people to flee. They killed many people in Uganda to rebel. Uganda tried to
contact them to stop this rebelling, but they did not. Uganda tried to meet up with the leader of
the group, but they did not show up. They tried to make peace and come to an agreement to stop,
but they did not want to. The leader of the Lord s Resistance Army, Joseph Kony, again fails to
turn up for the signing of a peace agreement ( Uganda Profile Timeline ). Uganda is putting a lot of
effort into trying to settle things with the LRA, but the LRA does not want to settle any of their
disputes. Uganda wants everything to be mostly peaceful again, but they cannot do that without the
LRA stopping their unnecessary attacks against Uganda. The LRA and Ugandans end up signing a
truce after having several peace talks, causing a ceasefire. British imperialism did many things for
the Ugandans. It did both good, and bad, but the British did not do much to help them. The country
was stable before the British came, but after, they were not doing that well. Uganda did become
stable eventually after the British. They helped them obtain more resources and ways of
transportation, but they took over their government. The British only cared about what was good
for themselves and were greedy. They only wanted power and control over the country, they did not
have many means to help them out, without mostly benefitting

What Is Transcendentalism In Into The Wild

Surviving alone in Alaska without the proper gear, and knowledge of the terrain, had proven
fatal for many; including McCandless. The native Alaskan Galien told him that he lacked
adequate gear and supplies to survive alone in the wilderness. He did not heed the advice of an
experienced Alaskan who hunted. This purposeful unpreparedness was a major contributor to his
death. Another instance of McCandless disrespect for nature is that he was not knowledgeable
about the terrain and went, despite being inexperienced in surviving solo with minimal supplies
in the frozen tundra of Alaska. During his trip he successfully killed a moose, but wasted most of
the meat by not knowing how to properly preserve the meat to last him a longer period of time. If

Analysis Of The Disney Competitive Strategy
A company that would like to expand and continue the health of the company needs to formulate
strategy. There should be goals that plans and actions of a company would attempt to reach. A
company may utilize competitive strategies that in which goals are made with competition in
mind and corporate strategy concerns goal directed plans and actions that target business choices
(Coulter, 2013). The Disney Difference and how it Affects the Company s Corporate, Competitive
and Functional Strategies The Disney Difference is the strategic plan that was implemented by
the Disney CEO in 2005, Bob Iger. Mr. Iger determined that there was too much Disney product
of inferior quality available to the public. He also noted that much of Disney s products were old
and outdated as well as targeting too narrow of a young audience. Mr. Iger began to create
formulate strategies that would attract a wide variety of consumers (Coulter, 2013). The Disney
brand is traditionally one that parents trust with their children. When determining what is a
functional strategy, not only is there the world market to explore, but there is the age market. The
goals of competitive strategy should be to develop a brand that multiple ages, genders and cultures
would enjoy. Disney competes with other companies, such as Nickelodeon and Universal Studies.
The reason for this these strategies is maximize consumption which really is profit and corporate
survivability (Meyers, McKnight Krabbenhoft,

Smallpox Is An Acute Contagious Disease
SMALLPOX Introduction Smallpox is an acute contagious disease that is caused by the variola
virus which is a member of the Genus Orthopoxvirus family. It infects humans only as a result of
its ability to escape the host immune system, and avoid any further activation (Koplow 2003).
The virus is a two stranded DNA virus. There exist two forms of the variola virus namely the
variola major and variola minor. Variola major is the one that is lethal, while variola minor is not
lethal but a mere strain. The most common strain is the variola major, which produces the more
severe symptoms and with a higher fatality rate of 20% to 40%, within a week of infection
(Koplow 2003). Key features of the life cycle(s) The initial step is whereby the virus attaches to the
host cell and infects an individual. It normally enters through the respiratory system. It attaches to
the mouth, trachea or lung mucosa. The cells forming the mucous membrane are loosely packed
hence permitting penetration and movement into the saliva. Once the virus reaches the cell
membrane, it penetrates through endocytosis. In the host cell, the main protein in released
(Koplow 2003). The virus replicates in the cytoplasm of the host cell. DNA replication and
transcription may start immediately as the virus itself contains enzymes for replication and
transcription. It does not rely on the host cell enzymes to begin replication (Koplow 2003). First,
the DNA and RNA polymerase are made, along with other transcription

Social Development And Journey Towards Autonomy
In 2009, I decided I wanted to be on birth control, even though I did not fully know my body or
complete family history. Soon after, I suffered from a Pulmonary Embolism, a blood clot in my
lung. The shortness of breath and severe agonizing chest pains were almost too horrible to bare.
My life almost came to a screeching halt. It was then I found out my familysuffered from a genetic
disorder and my mother realized we needed more open communication. Having open
communication with in the family positively influenced our family structure, in ways I could never
have imagined. Now I felt safe and secure in asking my mother everything; sex, love, school,
whatever it be. Parent and child relationships are a key factor in an adolescences social
development and journey towards autonomy. Our textbook, Exploring Lifespan development (Berk,

ethnic groups and cultures, warm, supportive parentingthat grants young people freedom to
explore while making appropriate demands for maturity fosters autonomy, [...] favorable self
esteem, and ease of separation in the transition to college (p. 329). Open discussion with the family
and adequate education are necessary to helping adolescents achieve a high standard of sexual
education and autonomy. It is at this point in my life that I met my, now husband, Joseph. Before

Finally, methods of mitigation will be examined and critically evaluated based on their potential to
halt the effects of carbon dioxide on climate change.
Climate change is a large scale change in the planet s weather systems or its average temperature.
The Earth s climate may change within varying timescales in response to natural factors. On the
scale of tens of thousands of years the climate changes through glacial and interglacial periods;
whereas it changes through the timescale of years occurs due to the effects of El NiГ±o and La
NiГ±a which temporarily change the Earth s temperature and regional scale weather patterns. (Met
office, 2015)
Carbon dioxide is a minor component of the Earth s atmosphere accounting for approximately
0.04%. Despite carbon dioxide s relatively low atmospheric concentration, it s believed that it is the
most important long long lived forcing of climate change in the atmosphere. (Pachauri Reisinger,
2007)
The Carbon Cycle
The measurement of atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has been measured
directly since 1957. Prior to 1957, atmospheric concentrations and isotope records consisted of
evidence from ice cores, moss cores, packrat middens, tree rings, and measurements of isotope
ratios in planktonic and benthic foraminifera. Out of the methods discussed, ice cores are by far the
best method for obtaining past

Father of the Bride Write up Father of the Bride is a movie about a young girl who decides to get

movie is the father trying to cope with letting go of his little girl; letting her grow up and

meeting the in laws, cost and immensity of weddings, and relationship struggles between the
bride and groom leading up to the wedding. In the end, George, the father of the bride, is able to

myths were verified in the movie. For example, the idea that planning a wedding is a super happy,

point when Katharine and Bryan get in a fight and she wants to call of the wedding, which I think
is something that happens a lot more than one might think, but because people tend to not like to
show that side to wedding planning, those experiences are usually omitted. Another connection
between the movie and class, in particular the wedding budget project we did in class, is how
many tiny little details that need to be covered with wedding planning and how the cost of every

Liberal Party Reforms
The Conservatives did more than the Liberal Party to advance the cause of reform in the period
1866 to 1885 Explain why you agree or disagree with this statement. During the period from 1866
until 1885 the electorate widened significantly from 1.3 million voters to 5.5 million. There were
many factors in the rising demand for Parliamentary reform such as; an increasing population,
internal migration, Radical and Trade Union campaigns, American Civil War, an economic
depression and the visit of Garibaldi. Alongside the extension of the franchise the political voting
system became far less corrupt and therefore results were a better representation of the people s

and not ours, and will give them control of the boroughs for half a dozen years to come Disraeli.
Under Gladstone s Liberal Government there was a period of great electoral reform 1872 85.
Firstly, in The Ballot Act 1872 was passed. The Act made voting secret and therefore reduced
bribery and corrupt practices greatly, especially in Ireland, but not completely as there were ways
of buying votes e.g. buying a beer. However, it was not introduced by the Government, but by

cannot commend the Government for passing the bill Latham was a member of the Liberal Party.
In 1883 the Government introduced The Corrupt and Illegal Practices Act which was supported by

The great philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau had inspired the revolution by his argument and ideas
that was based on Reason. He played a great role in exploring the notion of duty to the state by

But Rousseau s system has a remarkable problem .He insures that the will of each person always

Comparing Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde
The Metamorphosis and the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, by Franz Kafka, and Robert
Louis Stevenson respectively, center around two protagonists who encounter some physical and
mental transformations, and confusion of identities. While Kafka s novella shows the innocence
and noble traits hidden in Gregor Samsa, Stevenson s novellasuggests that Dr. Jekyll is motivated
by the darkness of his soul. Both protagonists escape their realities through transformations, in
which Dr. Jekyll seeks to find an exit from the judgment of society , and Samsa desires a life that
does not take away his individuality.

The Effects Of Home Environment On Children
Abstract
The use of child daycare has been debated endlessly. It has become hard to determine how it may
aid in the development of a child s cognition or if it hurts it instead. This is partly because of the
wide variety of types of child care and the opportunities that are given to young children.
Fortunately, measures have been created to help standardize what a daycare does and how it is
run. In this paper, several studies are assessed and the criteria that daycares are held to are
evaluated. The effect of home environment is compared to the effect of a child being at daycare
during the day. It is important to establish a high quality daycare while simultaneously engaging the
child in a healthy life at home.

( Daycare Centers, 1997 2016).
This organization in daily activities is a good characteristic of a high quality daycare center, in
which children s brains develop the most. In addition change of environment can help stimulate
the children s senses. When the group of kids takes a trip outside, they have the opportunity to
express themselves more freely and develop in ways that they wouldn t be able to inside. Lower
quality daycares that may not be as certified or even informal daycare, where a relative watches
over a child, has shown to not assist children s cognitive development as much. They may not have
the facilities to let the children go outside and therefore, they lose that advantage that kids in high
quality daycare have. Many studies have shown how certain aspects of daycare affect how children
develop cognitive including experiments in language development and the effects of informal
daycare.
Defining Quality of Daycare
Many studies by credited organizations, including the National Association for the Education of
Young Children and the American Psychological Association, have been conducted in order to
examine the effects of daycare on the cognitive development of children at or around preschool
age. It has been discovered that the quality of daycare has a somewhat influential effect on the
development of young children. As a result, high quality daycare has shown to improve the scores

The Theme Of Motivation In The Painted Door By Sinclair Ross
Motivation is the driving force behind all actions and reactions. It is the central influence behind
decisions made by the characters. It causes a dilemma that invokes an action which eventually leads
to the tragically ironic conclusions. As suggested in Sinclair Ross s The Painted Door , individuals
are affected through harsh situations that they come in contact with, and in order to move on they
must use these experiences as motivation for future decisions. What holds a relationship together?
In the short story The Painted Door , Sinclair Ross represents the importance of communication

in 1987 1993 and 2000 2003 failed to achieve the goal of Palestinian autonomy or eventual
independence. The First Intifada took place on the 8th of December 1987. This protest was against
Israeli s occupation of the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem. At the crowded checkpoint
Israeli truck swerved and killed four The Palestinians. Palestinians in revenge swept across the
Gaza Strip, spread to the World Bank and set into motion a blaze of nationalist resistance to
occupation. Intifada began unpredictably spontaneous actions such as stone throwing were

position of Palestine is understandable, they are like any other people wanted to be free from being

Environmental Effects Of Overfishing
The ocean is one of the largest sources of food and income for countries all across the globe. As
the fishing industry and human population grow, more and more resources are being taken out of
the ocean every year. If this process continues without any type of new regulation, our oceans
supply of resources will quickly start depleting. Without a sustainable output from our oceans,
millions of people will be losing income that they thought they could rely on forever. While most
people are not aware of this problem, over the past fifty years overfishing has developed into a
huge environmental issue that could have catastrophic global effects on us in the future if left
untreated. According to WorldWildlife.org, More than 85 percent of the world s fisheries have
been pushed to or beyond their biological limits and are in need of strict management plans to
restore them (WWL.org). This statistic shows that most of our oceans resources are being overused
and depleted. Some of the the most important fishspecies, for example, the bluefin tuna, have been
exploited to the point that their population s survival is at risk. The overfishing of top predators
disrupts marine ecosystems and food chains, leaving a large quantity of smaller populations. This
type of imbalance can be very dangerous to the oceans ecosystems by throwing off the natural
order of predators. In the past fishingwas more sustainable because the technology that is used

The Main Characteristic Of Four Elemental Market Structures
Research Essay

Student Name Moe Moe Khin

Date 09.01.2015
Abstract
In this research essay, the key characteristic of four elemental market structures (i.e. monopoly,
oligopoly, perfect competition or monopolistic competition) and their derivatives (i.e. differentiated
oligopoly were identified and discussed. Meanwhile other doubts were addressed and being
attended to.
Such as:
To how much extent does the government (in the general sense) has control over the market
structures?
Over a relatively large time frame (a couple of years to a decade), whether are the market structures
ever changing or highly stable?
What are the basic instruments of a typical monetary policy? What does the Federal Reserve do?
And so on so forth.
Some economists claim that politicians manipulate the business cycle to increase their chances of
reelection. If they are right, we should expect economic growth just before national elections. But
what happens after the elections? What are the long term effects of political business cycles?
Because of these issues, some points this paper illustrated might be considered somewhat
controversial.
Introduction Background Information
We live in a system of diverse sub systems.
Strikingly similar to an ecosystem, different market structures co exist. They are not particularly
advantageous over one another however.

Differences Of Hinduism And Hinduism
Hinduism is one big family of beliefs that unites the worship of many gods with a belief in a
single divine reality. Hinduism does not have an identifiable founder nor a structure in place to
defend it and spread its guidance, or a creed to steady its beliefs. At first many of its teachings and
scriptures were passed down orally but eventually, were written down for all to cherish. In
Christianity we find that Jesus is the originator of this religion, and is purely a missionary religion.
Traveling and branching out to as many people as possible to spread the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Also, in similar sense there are many denominations within the religion that have different teachings
but all usually lead to the same result, reaching heaven and living eternally with Christ himself.
Hinduism has many deities that are worshipped. Depending on what type of deity you worship
depends on one s own personality or age. The most common deities prayed to would be the three in
the Trimurti. Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva and represent the forces of creation, preservation, and
destruction. Brahma is the god of creation and often depicted as having four faces looking in all
directions and eight arms holding symbols of power. Vishnu is the god of preserving the universe
and is often depicted as having four arms holding symbols of power and usually wears a tall
crown. Shiva is the god of destruction but also recreation. Shiva could be the most misunderstood
god in Hinduism because most people

Gender In Sports Psychology
No, I m sorry but we re currently not accepting any new members for the wrestling team. A wave
of anger flushed through my body as I rolled my eyes and walked away. I was angry because I
knew then that my high school coach lied in front of my face, when only ten minutes before I
arrived the coach gave one of my male friends an application to join the wrestlingco ed team.
However, I was not surprised by the outcome. Wrestling is predominantly a male sport, so not
many women took forward to joining the wrestling team. Society expects females and male to
adopt and fulfil in certain gender roles and expectations. Males are expected to be strong and
athletic while women are expected to be weak, passive, and nurturers. At an early age children
adopt a sense of what is gender appropriate of them to engage in, whether in a sport or activity.
Their theory of what is gender appropriate is followed throughout their childhood to when they
are matured. Based off the theory of what is appropriate of a female to engage in, males tend to
reject the idea of women being capable of doing activities the opposite gender could do. It was
stereotypical of the coach to deny my request to join the wrestling team due to the fact that he
judged me based on my gender, and was oblivious to what skills I inherit.... Show more content on

Sugar And Acid Disorder Essay
Sugar and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Introduction
Sugar. What comes to mind when this word is heard? Candy? Juice? Close but not quite. Sugar is
contained in all of these but do you know what else has it? For example, starch, a carbohydrate
found primarily in plants, fruits, and vegetables, contains sugar. Starch is composed of glucose
molecules. Glucose links together using alpha glycosidic bonds to form starch. One of the main
functions of starches is to be used as an energy source. Didn t know that, huh? On another note,
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD, is a mental disorder characterized by
inattentiveness, impulsive behavior, and/or hyperactivity in young children. Many cases of ADHD

The Discovery, Structure, Metabolic Processes, Regulation...
ABSTRACT
Upon discovery of photosynthesis and the pathways that the molecules took during this process,
chloroplasts were soon uncovered. Scientists have taken a keen interest in chloroplasts since their
discovery. This review article will explore the discovery, structure, metabolic processes, regulation
and the genome of the chloroplast. Chloroplast are not only vital in providing food for plant life,
they are essential regulating and producing molecules for the cell. Once thought to function on their
own chloroplast have their own DNA and many unique characterizes. While much has been
discovered about the chloroplast there are still many unanswered questions and useful applications
for these tiny organelles. INTRODUCTION
Chloroplasts are very interesting organelles, thought to have once been independently functioning
cells. It is believed that they were once cyanobacteria floating around in the primordial soup. These
bacteria underwent respiration on their own in the absence of molecular oxygen until the ozone
layer was formed and oxygen gas could exist on earth. Once this occurred, eukaryotic organisms
started to flourish and they engulfed the bacteria. Once the bacteria were engulfed these prokaryotic
organisms over time with evolution became what we now know today as the chloroplast.
Chloroplast today are organelles within cells that have double membranes. They function in the
plant to not only capture light from the sun and turn it into carbohydrates for the plant

The Experimental And Analytical Studies
Over the past quarter century, many of both the experimental and analytical studies have
increased dramatically on the monotonic behavior of FRP confined concrete columns, and as a
result, many axial stress strain models have been proposed; however, most of them have
focused largely on FRP confined plain concrete cylinders numerous people tested (e.g.,
Mirmiran and Shahawy 1997; Mirmiran et al.1998; Xiao and Wu 2000; Lam and Teng 2002,

Teng et al.2009; Smith et al. 2010; Cui et al.2010). A certain number of these researches have
included non circular unreinforced (plain) columns (e.g., Rochette and Labossiere 2000; Ilki and

the experimental investigations carried out on FRP confined non circular reinforced concrete

We Must Stand Against The Devil s Scheme
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil s schemes (New
International Version, Eph. 6:11). Unlike God, the Devil is not omnipotent; imploring demons as
assistants to construct attitudes, institutions, evil influences, and distractions into the course of this
world to effectively steer us away from Christ. Although Satan is a menacing enemy, it is ultimately
humannature and human choices that pose the greatest threat, twisting our perception of the world
around us. In contrast, we must stand against the devil s schemes , holding a firm position against
temptation and in turn, covering our n and in turn, covering our exposed areas of weaknessв€’
just as an army must do in warfare. As depicted in the book of Job, the Devil s role in Gods plan is
to provide tests for us to overcome, which will ultimately undermine him as such challenges subtly

confidence in Christian doctrine, is recurrent to further strengthen and establish a rooted foundation
and relationship with God. In The Screwtape Letters, C.S. Lewis attempts to persuade Christians to
not fall under the temptation of sin by speaking from a different perspective about spirituality,

Sierra Leone is one of the many countries that are on the coast of West Africa. A rich country fell

Definition Essay On Heaven
A common religious, cosmological, or transcendent place where beings such as gods, angels, jinn,
saints, or venerated ancestors are said to originate, be enthroned, or to live, this is the wikipedia
definition of heaven. Although heaven is used often in daily conversation, many of people who use
the word do not truly understand the meaning of the word to Christians. As people go throughout
their lives they will commonly say This is like heaven on earth, however, they have no idea what
heaven s glory truly is. In fact, Christians have assurance that Jesusand his Father care about their
children and will have a wonderful home that we can live in for eternal life. Matthew 14: 2 4

History Of Egypt And Southwestern Part Of Egypt
In the past periods, the northwestern part of Sudan and southwestern part of Egypt (Kehl and
Bornkamm, 1993) were with great effective moisture, which are evident from archaeological sites
associated with remnants of playa or lake deposits. This was the source of recharge in the NSAS.
The estimated recharge rates of the pluvial period were a little high at the Uweinat highlands and
central Sudan area (7 15 mm/year), and low in northern Sudan and southern Egyptarea (6 8 mm
/year) (Fig. 13). During the filling up process, the high hydraulically conductive sandstones (~

The groundwater flow from the foothills of the Uweinat highlands has followed the relief of the
underlying basement rocks. As the aquifer became full and the groundwater level rose to the
ground surface at the Uweinat area, the excess precipitation has formed drainage systems
flowing in an ENE direction (Fig. ) to the Tushka depression. This is evidenced from processing
of the Radarsat and SRTM images over this area. Therefore, these surface drainages were drained
the excess water above the surface away from the system. The groundwater has flowed

How Did George Meade Impact The Civil War
How did George Meade impact the Civil War? George Meade led his army to win one of the
greatest battles of all time; The Battle of Gettysburg. George Meade entered the army at the start
of the Civil War and quickly rose up the ranks. He ended up being in charge of the Union Army
that fought against Robert E. Lee s Confederate troops at the Battle of Gettysburg. When Meade
was put in charge of the Union Army that fought in the Battle of Gettysburg it created a turning
point for the North that helped them to win the Civil War(History.com Staff). THE EVENTS

the Seven Days Battles. He recovered though, and went on to perform well at the battles of

Union Army. When it failed, however, he was forced to retreat to Virginia. The South never invaded

Benefits of Raising and Showing Pigs Essay
Some say you re born into it, others say you pick it up as a hobby. I for one believe I was born into
it. Being a third generation farming family definitely had a role in raising market show pigs.
Raising show pigs is and has always been a blessing for many families. You don t have to be born in
the heart of Oklahoma to raise a Grand Champion market pig. Having the correct knowledge about
the industry, feeding regiment, and the proper showman etiquette will help a person greatly.
Before you make the decision to purchase a market pig at a barn sale or online auction you
should have the correct knowledge of the breeds that are out there. There are a total of eight
common breeds of show pigs. These eight breeds can be divided into two groups ... Show more

Berkshire hogs are known for their ability to easily gain weight; they also have traits like black
and white hair. The white hair they have on their bodies must be on their ears, tail, and feet.
Another pig breed that is black and white is the Hampshire. Hamps are heavy muscled but they
can also pack on a lot of weight. They are black with a white belt that goes around their body and
the two front feet must also be white. Hampshire pigs can also be off belts where they do not
have a full belt around their body; they may just have one leg that is white with the rest of the
body black. The last and most recorded breed of pigs in the United States is the Yorkshire. Yorks
are most famous for their outstanding mothering abilities; they are able to produce a large amount
of milk and have structural soundness. A York cannot be any other color than white or if it they
have any extra dewclaws, which we can think of as toes, on the back of their feet.
After deciding on the breed or cross that you want to buy, you need to look at the most important
aspect of a pig; their bonestructure. You can easily feed out a problem like weight or muscle but
if a pig is straight legged as a baby then the problem will only progress. A pig should have a
straight, or level, back and also should have a natural ability to keep their head up. Once you have
the right structure you need to find a pig with an adequate amount of bone so their legs aren t

Catch And Release Is Inhumane
Catch and Release of Fish: Inhumane or Humane to Trout Populations A debate that has recently
been brought more into focus in the public eye is that of whether catch and release is humane or
inhumane to trout populations. Recent hype on conservation of our natural and surrounding
environment has increasingly gained popularity through conservation efforts. It is through
conservation efforts that the question of, catch and release has gained more attention as a means to
determine if a law that was put into effect to protect and insure the healthy population of trout, may
be contributed to a possible decrease in trout populations. This leads one to examine the opinions
and studies of trout populations within our area.

danger to fish than fisherman. For example, the movement of a male fish to a nest can result in nest
abandonment which can result in the loss of reproduction for individual fish. With the management
of catch and release, nest abandonment is less likely to

Death Is Not Bad For Anyone
Death is not Bad for Anyone
Epicurus writes, the argument that death is nothing to us, because when we exist, death is not yet
present, and when death comes, we no longer exist. There are three reasonable previews to support
his view, including: something is bad for someone as long as it must be bad for that person at
specific time; Death cannot be bad for someone when they are dead because the person does not
exist at that time; Death cannot be bad for someone before death actually come. Among these
three reasonable previews, Epicurus draw his conclusion that because there is no time at which
death is bad for someone, so death is not bad for anyone. I m agree with that Death is not bad for
anyone , because death can t affect us since we are died. Although the objection is reasonable, I
still think the Epicurus s response is stronger. The objection is that death can be bad because it
is a deprivation of the good things in life. Our life is full of good things. We have time that we
stay with our parents or hang out with our friends; we have time that we do our hobby and go
traveling to see the world; we have time that we go shopping and eat delicious foods; though
there are still sometimes bad things happens, it emphasis happiness in our life and make our life
colorful. However, if we died, we no longer have time to enjoy it. All the happy moments, money,
gorgeous house, people we loves, things we have experienced and not experienced disappear since
we are died. For

Compare And Contrast Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief
How can we modernize a story to make it more relatable and understanding to a new generation of
learners? The book, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief based on the original, The Legend of
Perseus, is taken and molded into a new take on ancient greek mythology. Percy Jackson and the
Lightning Thief draws on and adds to the original characters, uses similarities and creates
differences to rejuvenate the old story.
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief has very similar plot types and structures to the original
The Legend of Perseus . However, there are a few essential changes to help restore the original.

For example, theme concepts and how they are modernized to this generation of readers. First,
in Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief and The Legend of Perseus there is a common theme
of brains over brawn. When Percy Jackson is left in the arch by Grover and Annabeth he realizes
that the woman and her chihuahua are monsters sent by Hades and when Percy discovers their
real identities he jumps out of a window blown up by the demons into the river. Annabeth stood
behind him... We can t leave you alone for five minutes! What happened? I sort of fell. Percy! Six
hundred and thirty feet? ( Riordan, 217)Percy used brains over brawn because he had to think
quickly to escape a dangerous situation. Perseus, after returning with his new wife to be and Medusa
s head, learned that the king tried to take Danae after Percy left, so the fishermen fled with her
and went into hiding. Perseus went to the king and used his intuition to bring out the head and
show him so then the king turned to stone as well. By thinking quick Perseus killed the king, his
mother and the fisherman came out of hiding, as a returned favor the fisherman was made king.
... when he arrived at the fisherman s hut, he learned that Danae and the fisherman had gone into
hiding. As soon as the king of the island had gotten rid of Perseus, he had tried to carry Danae
off. To save her the old fisherman had fled with her. When Perseus heard that, he made straight
for the king s palace. Here is the head you wanted! he shouted, and pulled Medusa s head out of
the bag. Startled the king and his men looked up... (D Aulaire, 120). Secondly, Percy Jackson s
story has the theme of the underdog. In The Legend of Perseus Perseus had only heroic
challenges and he was never compared to anyone else. However, he did have to overcome
challenges and rise up to the task. When Perseus was shipped off in a chest in the sea and was

The Investigation Of The Ramsey Case
December 26, 1996 six year old JonBenГ©t Patrica Ramsey had been assumed kidnapped from
her home in Boulder, Colorado, only to be found murdered in the family s cellar. This
investigation had lead to many wild speculations and theories of the murder suspect(s), by

Ramsey case is often challenged due to the Boulder Police tampering of crime scene and the
District Attorney dismissal of charges. Media coverage and various testimonies have challenged

The Impact Of Shale Gas Revolution On Natural Gas From...
A crisis in global energy consumption has been increasingly discussed in many world energy
forums which concern in the diminishing of fossil fuel and natural gas. Consequently, the US
government has attempted to seek a new resource to serve the global energy demand (SHAFIEE,
2009). The natural gas from shale formation, abundant resources in US, has been discovered for a
long time but there is no efficient method to extract the natural gasfrom this formation. Moreover,
the route to convey the large amount of shale gas is one of our challenge that must be safe for
human and environment, and it should be a low cost technique as well (ARMOR, 2013).
Furthermore, the impact of shale gas revolution should be realized in a consequence of local
protesters at the drilling sites or people who are directly affected from the extraction projects.
Therefore, the aims of this project are to describe the most feasible technique and the future
prospects in natural gas from shale formation.
Background and Significance
In a few decades, global natural gas demand has still sharply grown up every year. The world s
crude oil and natural gas reserves are usually the main resources for energy consumptions in our
world. Consequently, the total amount of these reserves has been significantly regarded by the
leading industrial countries (WANG, 2014). US government, especially, is the first leader who has
attempted to seek the new energy resources for the American energy consumption (Fig. 1). Although

To obtain a degree in criminal psychology one must take courses within the psychology department.
Accredited Psychology programs require supervised fieldwork, giving the students a chance to
engage with criminals to evaluate and diagnose them. Once earning the doctoral degree one must
obtain a license. To achieve the license, usually one is required to complete supervised,
postdoctoral clinical work, pass a licensing examination, pass an ethics test and have no criminal
record. A criminal Psychologist might work in a number of different settings, including private
practice, corrections offices and law enforcement agencies where one can see patients. I would
consider choosing Georgetown University for my future studies because it has a unique setting, it
s a private school which means smaller student bodies, and the fact that their acceptance rate is
very low intrigues me to challenge myself, and engage into a demanding, exasperating and
fascinating journey. Georgetown would be the perfect fit for me because it offers a major and
minor in psychology and an undergraduate and their graduate program offers a five year program
of study in developmental science leading in psychology. If they accept me at Georgetown I want

Argumentative Essay On 2016 Elections
Every four years one person makes history. This one person we will remember for the rest of our
lives because they are the president of the United States. It all starts with the election. The election
shows us who we will be voting for and what they stand for. I m lucky enough to participate in this
2016 election. I m so excited to partake in a part of history. One thing about this election is that I
have strong different feelings about the two biggest candidates, Hillary and Trump.
Hillary belongs in prison. There are no ifs or buts about it, she committed a crime so she should do
the time. There is a huge list of the crimes Hillary potentially committed; including conspiracy,
bribery, obstruction of justice, fraud by wire, and more. She did a lot of the crimes Martha Stewart
did, but unlike Martha, Hillary didn t got away with it. That is absolutely against what us, United
States, stands for. Just because Hillary is running for president, that means she can commit crimes
and get away with it? What is our world coming to? We have these laws and for what? So
everyone has to follow them but our president or not even president, but candidate? Anyone that is
a criminal should not be loud to run for the United States. Hillary s crimes aren t the only thing I

need to worry about our people before others, we should be pro life and not pro choice, and we

This is all against what Hillary stands for and that is why I will never vote for Hillary Clinton.
But that is not the only reason why, I will also not be voting for her because she is a criminal and
deserves to be behind bars, not protected in our White

Mirrors by Sylvia Plath
13th March, 2014 In the poem Mirrors , by Sylvia Plath the speaker accentuates the importance
of looks as an aging woman brawls with her inner and outward appearance. Employing an
instance of self refection, the speaker shifts to a lake and describes the discrepancies between
inevitable old age and zealous youth. By means of sight and personification, shifts and
metaphors, the orator initiates the change in appearance which relies on an individual s decision
to embrace and reject it. The author applies sight and personification to accentuate the mirror s
roles. The declaimer of the poem says I am silver and exact [and] whatever I see I swallow (1, 20).
The purpose of these devices is to convey the position of the mirror in... Show more content on

According to Tomei, SylviaPlath is subject to depression just like her father (1213). Possibly
hereditary, she detaches herself from everyone due to her immense discomfort and displeasure.
Moreover, she imprints her feelings and memories in her poems as witnessed in the poem Mirrors .
Plath initiates her child hood in the narrative when she meditates on the opposite wall in her
room (6). Although a mirror is personified in the poem, it signifies Plath s nature as an
individual. As lonely as widow, she reposes against the wall, gazes at the divider and muses
about her life. This can be due to the fact that Plath felt it was her fault her father died (Freedman
159). Thus, she translates her experiences into a poem and transmutes it literary denotation to
figurative language. To conclude, everything happens for a reason and life teaches great lessons.
As detected from the shift in the poem, Plath utilizes symbols in nature to delineate her view on
the world. Situated in the criticism of Giles, Plath creates images of great sound and beauty... as
the sea is second only to the moon as one of her favorite symbols (2597). As witnessed in the
sonnet, the candles and the moon are viewed as liars; however, they are distinguished as her
favorite symbols. Since society and individuals represent these symbols, Plath conveys the deceitful
nature of people in the word. Subsequently, she turns to them

  • 2. Essay Orientalism Misunderstanding between East and West has become so common today that the clash between the two civilizations has become a clichГ©. In recent history, numerous wars and conflicts have erupted as a result of Occidental misperceptions of the Orient and vice versa. To the European mind, the Maghreb, Persia, the Levant, Arabia, Anatolia, and the adjacent lands are but a single entity evoking poetic visions of the Orient. While it may be true that among these regions, certain commonalities exist, diversity and the richness of several cultures more aptly describes the Orient. Edward Said s Introduction to Orientalismaids readers in understanding the basis for Rhonda Vander Sluis s companions prejudice and stereotype in her search for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whether general or specific, the West s perception of the East is just that a perception it is the view of an outsider, not reality. The problem this creates is that the Orient is merely what the West has decided it is. The East is alien and therefore it can be studied with a pretense of objectivity and distance without the constraints of veracity. It was the romantic images of an exotic Oriental civilization promulgated by European and American writers that prejudiced Vander Sluis upon her arrival in Turkey. However beautiful, the Orient was a backward place to Western sensibilities. She initially believes that Muslims of the Orient were unreached people who can be evangelized and brought into the Western and Christian sphere (Vander Sluis 274). Rather than being unreached, the Turks Vander Sluis encounters are even more fervent in their religious convictions than she. Making such broad assumptions about people of another culture is not only unfair to the people who are judged, but also unnecessarily limits the opportunities and experiences of those who pass judgment. Vander Sluis warns her readers to avoid the stereotypes she brought with her to Turkey so that, unlike her, we can appreciate the goodness of the people we encounter in life without suspicion. The specter of Orientalism is so pervasive in Vander Sluis s experience that it initially prevents her from accepting the hospitality of her hosts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Prescription Drug Prices in the U.S Prescription Drug Prices in the U.S. The prices of prescription drugs in the United States are by far the highest in the world. [1] On average, Europeans pay 40% less than Americans for the same medications. [2] Consumers have been resorting to several ways, sometimes putting themselves in harm s way, to alleviate the burden of high prescription drug costs. Some buy their medications online or cross the borders to neighboring countries so they would be able to afford buying their needed medications. Others have resorted to the illegal act of selling their unused medications in online forums just to recover part of their expenses. Many factors contribute to the increased drug prices in the United States including research and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pharmaceutical companies are provided with temporary monopoly rights on the production of new drugs which result in a higher cost on consumers. If competing companies were allowed to produce generic forms of those drugs, consumers will be able to afford those medications even in cases where those consumers have no insurance coverage. The company responsible for developing and inventing the original medication could be offered incentives to invent in the future by either obtaining tax breaks or NIH funding for future research. They could even be offered a percentage of the sales of the generic drugs. Economist Gary S. Becker advocates dropping many FDA requirements that, in his opinion, provide no additional safety measures but rather delay the development of new drugs.[12] Betamethasone, for example, has been part of the standard prenatal care in Europe since the late 1970 s while it got adopted in the U.S. after 1997. On many occasions, the FDA ignores all scientific evidence concerning certain drugs because the manufacturer did not follow their mandated bureaucratic standards. Many countries such as Canada, India, and the UK have price controls. The governments of these countries impose regulations that control the prices of new drugs as well as generics without compromising safety but at the same time they do not burden pharmaceutical companies ... • 5. Present Wireless Scenario Consists Of Homogeneous Network... Present wireless scenario consists of homogeneous network and heterogeneous networks. In homogeneous network each base station has similar transmit power level, antenna pattern, receiver noise floor and similar backhaul connectivity. But this type of network has disadvantage of coverage hole. In heterogeneous network the macro BSs is collocated with micro, pico and femto cells. This arrangement increases overall spectral efficiency per unit area (capacity) of the network. Whereas small cell like micro, pico, femto and relays are used to avoid coverage hole and to provide mobility to the users. Not only this relays can be used to provide backhaul connectivity, where wire line link is not possible or are expensive to deploy. As determined by the information theoretic capacity limits, current cellular systems have evolved to a point where a system with one BS achieves near optimal performance. Researchers are now moving towards more advanced heterogeneous network topology which will bring the network more closely to the mobile user leading to further capacity gains [46 49]. HetNets will significantly improve the spectral efficiency per unit area by utilizing a diverse set of BSs. 1.4Elements of Heterogeneous Network Heterogeneous deployment need to use innovative cell association and inter celling interference coordination techniques in order to realize the promised capacity and coverage gains. A typical heterogeneous wireless technology as shown in figure 1.4 has the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Hector Guimard s Influence Hector Guimard was a master of the French Art Nouveau movement, playing a significant role designing architecture and furniture. He was born in Lyon, France, on March 10, 1867, and died in New York City, on May 20, 1942, at the age of 75. His architectural career spanned two centuries, however his influence is ever present in modern design. His most noteworthy accomplishment can be found throughout the streets of Paris mГ©tro entrance gates. Infused with nature and organic lines, these once unpopular gates now quintessentially represent the Art Nouveaustyle. Made from iron and glass, their unique and graceful organic forms effectively chauffeured this new movement into the realm of popular culture. Guimard s predominant efforts throughout... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That said, only a few publicly installed gates remain in Paris today, including the original, Porte Dauphine. A few others were relocated to New York, Chicago and Montreal, Canada the second largest primarily French speaking city in the world, sharing many cultural characteristics with France. The remaining gates, admired and seen as individual pieces of art, are now considered classic and historical examples of French Art Nouveau architecture. In the eyes of many, French Art Nouveau is best represented by the his mГ©tro entrances. However, these gates weren t always as appreciated as they are today. The Parisian press and citizens both grew tired of Guimard shortly after the gates were complete. His reputation declined rapidly and his attitude was seemingly disrespectful toward his country . The French claimed he had lost his patriotism, or his Vive la France , (meaning long live France ) which is a popular expression representing patriotism in France. Guimard s lack of being appreciated and his fear of the Nazi Party (his wife was Jewish) forced him to move to the United States in 1938, and he was largely forgotten when he died ... • 7. A Critical Analysis Of Efficacy Of Commercial Biofeedback... A critical analysis of efficacy of commercial biofeedback devices on motor recovery in lower limb among stroke patients. A stroke is one of the most serious diseases which threatens public health worldwide. A prevalence of a stroke increases with age, but it is not a natural part of the aging process. According to Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) (2013), more than 375,000 Australians had suffered by stroke in 2009 and 70% of them were more than aged 65. Furthermore, more than a third of Australians among them had a disability from the stroke (AIHW 2013). A stroke often leaves people with paralysis, balance problem, cognitive problem, speech impairment and loss of memory depends on which part of the brain is affected. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are several equipment that can examine changes of brain activity, and one of the commonly used devices is functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging(fMRI), which measures the brain oxygen level dependent(BOLD) signal to recognize any changes of brain activity (Cheung et al. 2014). When the stroke patients were asked to perform active motion of their paretic leg, altered cerebral activation was monitored compared to healthy individuals (Din et al. 2014). According to Katherine et al. (2014), both brains of healthy individuals and stroke patients showed an alteration of brain network followed by learning a new task. Additionally, stroke patients tend to rely on other brain regions to support motor function compared to healthy individuals (Cheung et al. 2014). This altered activation of the brain may be a neural strategy to produce performance despite insulted ipsilesional region of the brain. The processes of motor impairment of post stroke in the paretic lower limb has not been fully discovered, but some assumptions are addressed by Arene and Hidler (2009). Firstly, descending input to the spinal cord from the corticospinal and reticulospinal descending tract can be lost or reduced by a stroke, which leads to inability to produce voluntary movement and reduction of muscle force (Arene Hidler 2009). Secondly, interruption of descending tract from supraspinal center due to aberrant timing of muscle activation can cause balance impairment and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We love games that just get to the point, with Duelling for Dollars doing that in a rather spectacular fashion. Duelling for Dollars is incredibly fun to play, but it does carry a few issues when it comes to payouts, as this game just isn t as stacked as other Galaxy Gaming titles. Most of the payouts in this game are token offerings at best, ranging between $20 and just a $1. • 10. Imperialism In Uganda During the imperialism in Africa, a lot of different events happened in Uganda. The imperialism had effects on the country, some of the effects benefited the country, and some did not. Mostly, it did not benefit the country. The British did most things to only benefit themselves, and did not care about what happened to the citizens of Uganda. The British only wanted power over the country, and to make a profit. Before the imperialism, Uganda was a prosperous country. They were one of the most powerful and the largest kingdoms in Africa. was heralded for its royal history and development as a center of learning and culture...it descended into chaos and destruction with the rise to power of a despotic military leader...begun to reestablish itself... There was a organization called the Lord s Resistance Army and they would attack the country. They kidnapped children and caused more people to flee. They killed many people in Uganda to rebel. Uganda tried to contact them to stop this rebelling, but they did not. Uganda tried to meet up with the leader of the group, but they did not show up. They tried to make peace and come to an agreement to stop, but they did not want to. The leader of the Lord s Resistance Army, Joseph Kony, again fails to turn up for the signing of a peace agreement ( Uganda Profile Timeline ). Uganda is putting a lot of effort into trying to settle things with the LRA, but the LRA does not want to settle any of their disputes. Uganda wants everything to be mostly peaceful again, but they cannot do that without the LRA stopping their unnecessary attacks against Uganda. The LRA and Ugandans end up signing a truce after having several peace talks, causing a ceasefire. British imperialism did many things for the Ugandans. It did both good, and bad, but the British did not do much to help them. The country was stable before the British came, but after, they were not doing that well. Uganda did become stable eventually after the British. They helped them obtain more resources and ways of transportation, but they took over their government. This purposeful unpreparedness was a major contributor to his death. Another instance of McCandless disrespect for nature is that he was not knowledgeable about the terrain and went, despite being inexperienced in surviving solo with minimal supplies in the frozen tundra of Alaska. • 14. Smallpox Is An Acute Contagious Disease SMALLPOX Introduction Smallpox is an acute contagious disease that is caused by the variola virus which is a member of the Genus Orthopoxvirus family. It infects humans only as a result of its ability to escape the host immune system, and avoid any further activation (Koplow 2003). The virus is a two stranded DNA virus. There exist two forms of the variola virus namely the variola major and variola minor. Variola major is the one that is lethal, while variola minor is not lethal but a mere strain. The most common strain is the variola major, which produces the more severe symptoms and with a higher fatality rate of 20% to 40%, within a week of infection (Koplow 2003). Key features of the life cycle(s) The initial step is whereby the virus attaches to the host cell and infects an individual. It normally enters through the respiratory system. It attaches to the mouth, trachea or lung mucosa. The cells forming the mucous membrane are loosely packed hence permitting penetration and movement into the saliva. Once the virus reaches the cell membrane, it penetrates through endocytosis. In the host cell, the main protein in released (Koplow 2003). The virus replicates in the cytoplasm of the host cell. DNA replication and transcription may start immediately as the virus itself contains enzymes for replication and transcription. It does not rely on the host cell enzymes to begin replication (Koplow 2003). First, the DNA and RNA polymerase are made, along with other transcription ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It has become hard to determine how it may aid in the development of a child s cognition or if it hurts it instead. This is partly because of the wide variety of types of child care and the opportunities that are given to young children. Fortunately, measures have been created to help standardize what a daycare does and how it is run. In this paper, several studies are assessed and the criteria that daycares are held to are evaluated. Without a sustainable output from our oceans, millions of people will be losing income that they thought they could rely on forever. ABSTRACT Upon discovery of photosynthesis and the pathways that the molecules took during this process, chloroplasts were soon uncovered. Scientists have taken a keen interest in chloroplasts since their discovery. This review article will explore the discovery, structure, metabolic processes, regulation and the genome of the chloroplast. Chloroplast are not only vital in providing food for plant life, they are essential regulating and producing molecules for the cell. Once thought to function on their own chloroplast have their own DNA and many unique characterizes. While much has been discovered about the chloroplast there are still many unanswered questions and useful applications for these tiny organelles. INTRODUCTION Chloroplasts are very interesting organelles, thought to have once been independently functioning cells. It is believed that they were once cyanobacteria floating around in the primordial soup. These bacteria underwent respiration on their own in the absence of molecular oxygen until the ozone layer was formed and oxygen gas could exist on earth. Once this occurred, eukaryotic organisms started to flourish and they engulfed the bacteria. Once the bacteria were engulfed these prokaryotic organisms over time with evolution became what we now know today as the chloroplast. Chloroplast today are organelles within cells that have double membranes. They function in the plant to not only capture light from the sun and turn it into carbohydrates for the plant ... • 53. Argumentative Essay On 2016 Elections Every four years one person makes history. This one person we will remember for the rest of our lives because they are the president of the United States. It all starts with the election. The election shows us who we will be voting for and what they stand for. I m lucky enough to participate in this 2016 election. I m so excited to partake in a part of history. One thing about this election is that I have strong different feelings about the two biggest candidates, Hillary and Trump. Hillary belongs in prison. There are no ifs or buts about it, she committed a crime so she should do the time. There is a huge list of the crimes Hillary potentially committed; including conspiracy, bribery, obstruction of justice, fraud by wire, and more. She did a lot of the crimes Martha Stewart did, but unlike Martha, Hillary didn t got away with it. That is absolutely against what us, United States, stands for. Just because Hillary is running for president, that means she can commit crimes and get away with it? What is our world coming to? We have these laws and for what? So everyone has to follow them but our president or not even president, but candidate? Anyone that is a criminal should not be loud to run for the United States. Hillary s crimes aren t the only thing I strongly dislike about her, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I agree with Trump s ideas for the three main issues; Immigration, Abortion, and GunControl. We need to worry about our people before others, we should be pro life and not pro choice, and we need to protect ourselves from the messed up people using the guns and not the guns themselves. This is all against what Hillary stands for and that is why I will never vote for Hillary Clinton. But that is not the only reason why, I will also not be voting for her because she is a criminal and deserves to be behind bars, not protected in our White ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Web Application For The Smart Agricultural System The Web Application is used to view and interact with the smart agricultural system. The webpages are served from the Webserver and consist of HTML, CSS, JS, and JSON files. The HTML and CSS files are used for the webpages content and layout, the Javascript performs the webpages backend processing, and JSON is used for data. The Web Application performs most of its interaction with the Sensor Network through JSON files are passed between the Webserver and the Web Application. The JSON files contain labeled data that can be displayed as plots or text information. The plots are updated once every second by requesting new sensor data from the Webserver. This Section will focus on the software that allows that Web Application to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Figure 26: Weather webpage layout. The Temperature, Pressure, Humidity, Light, and Soil Moisture pages display graphic plots for each sensor value type. These pages allow the user to track in real time the current status and history of the sensor value. Figure 27: Temperature webpage layout. The Water Control webpage displays the history the water pump on/off state and value of the environment s soil moisture. This page gives the best overview of the current system status. Typically, what you would see is that based on environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, pressure, and weather, the soil moisture threshold will scale to compensate for the current conditions. The scaling and compensating factors will be discussed in the smart algorithm section below. Then, if the environment s soil moisture sensor value falls below the soil moisture threshold, then the water pump will turn on. This will be reflected in the water control graphical plot. Figure 28: Water control webpage layout. 4.5.2 Data Interface: The Web Application interfaces with the Webserver by requesting JSON data files. The JSON files contain the sensor data used to update the plots and command statuses of the Web Application. The information within the files is formatted in a specific way such that the files can be passed directly to the plotting function. CouchDB performs the file formatting using its query function. • 55. Mirrors by Sylvia Plath 13th March, 2014 In the poem Mirrors , by Sylvia Plath the speaker accentuates the importance of looks as an aging woman brawls with her inner and outward appearance. Employing an instance of self refection, the speaker shifts to a lake and describes the discrepancies between inevitable old age and zealous youth. By means of sight and personification, shifts and metaphors, the orator initiates the change in appearance which relies on an individual s decision to embrace and reject it. The author applies sight and personification to accentuate the mirror s roles. The declaimer of the poem says I am silver and exact [and] whatever I see I swallow (1, 20). The purpose of these devices is to convey the position of the mirror in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Tomei, SylviaPlath is subject to depression just like her father (1213). Possibly hereditary, she detaches herself from everyone due to her immense discomfort and displeasure. Moreover, she imprints her feelings and memories in her poems as witnessed in the poem Mirrors . Plath initiates her child hood in the narrative when she meditates on the opposite wall in her room (6). Although a mirror is personified in the poem, it signifies Plath s nature as an individual. As lonely as widow, she reposes against the wall, gazes at the divider and muses about her life. This can be due to the fact that Plath felt it was her fault her father died (Freedman 159). Thus, she translates her experiences into a poem and transmutes it literary denotation to figurative language. To conclude, everything happens for a reason and life teaches great lessons. As detected from the shift in the poem, Plath utilizes symbols in nature to delineate her view on the world. Situated in the criticism of Giles, Plath creates images of great sound and beauty... as the sea is second only to the moon as one of her favorite symbols (2597). As witnessed in the sonnet, the candles and the moon are viewed as liars; however, they are distinguished as her favorite symbols. Since society and individuals represent these symbols, Plath conveys the deceitful nature of people in the word. Subsequently, she turns to them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
