The prostate gland contains glandular acini that vary in size with wide and irregular lumina. The acini protrude into the connective tissue folds and secrete proteinaceous fluids that sometimes form prostatic concretions. The glandular epithelium is simple columnar or pseudostratified. The fibromuscular stroma is a characteristic feature of the prostate gland, containing smooth muscle bundles and connective tissue fibers that blend throughout the gland.
