Social Issues In Middle Schools
Ever since I was young, I remember being completely fascinated with science, and specifically
biology. Middle school was when I realized how fascinated I am by animals, their behavior, and their
welfare. I began to notice the overpopulation issue of strays and the overfill in local shelters. It opened
my eyes to what seemed like a different aspect of the world. There are so many social issues that
people are focused on, and some people have started to ignore other living creatures. This has struck
me. As I ve been getting older, I feel, more and more, like I can make a difference, at least in my
community. Now, since I have started driving, I have rehabilitated a kitten I found, taken countless
stray cats to a local spay/neuter clinic, and

Kathiew, rich beefy broth, made from ox bones and roast simmered in beef stock, over rice noodles.

cloves garlic, 1 whole onion, ginger, star anise, and 14 cups water, cooked on high temperature till

Occasionally stir the broth and remove and bubble that forms on the top of the broth; make sure you
don t cover the pot. (The longer you cook your broth, the tastier it ll be.) Step two, cooking your
noodles; while your broth is cooking, take your second pot and put 8 cups of water, bring it to a boil
and add in your noodles, cook till it s tender. Now turn off the heat and remove your pot and pour your
noodles into a colander, rinsed under cold water and drained, then set aside. Return to your simmering
broth, remove all the meat and spices as well as the bones. You can discard the spices and place your
oxtails, beef bones, beef tendon and beef chuck in a large bowl, picks out meat from beef bones, cut
beef tendon and beef chuck to bite sizes and set it a side. After you ve done that, season your soup
broth with fish sauce, sugar and salt. Taste soup broth and seasoning to your taste. Add more sugar for

However because of the drop in value of the Malaysian ringgit, foreign customers would be able to
afford to spend more money on travelling. Low cost carriers may also take advantage of the cheaper
oil prices and lower their airfare to attract more customers, both local and international.
Technological Change
Airbus claimed that its latest aircraft, A330neo had been upgraded and it would be as fuel efficient as
Boeing s new 787 Dreamliner (Business Insider, 2014). This is an important advancement in
technology because 33% of the operating costs of airlines was spent on fuel (Air Transport Action
Group, 2014).
An advance in aircraft technology that reduced fuel consumption reduced the total operating costs of
the plane. The more fuel efficient an aircraft was, the bigger the distance travelled by that particular
aircraft with a set amount of fuel. This allowed an airline to expand its network and consider routes
that they were unable to consider before. However technology evolved quickly and if a better aircraft
is launched soon after an airline has bought the previous version, the previous version would most
probably become obsolete in a short period of time. In addition to that, there was a high possibility
that the start up cost of buying new aircrafts could be a cost burden in the short term.

The Battle Within Bowe Bergdahl
The Battle Within Bowe Bergdahl
The second season of the podcast series, Serial, hosted by Sarah Koenig, an American Journalist,
focuses on a soldier named Bowe Bergdahl, who, at the age of 19, enlisted into the Coast Guard.
Bowe Bergdahl only lasted a couple weeks in training due to the fact that he was diagnosed with
situational anxiety. Without proper guidance, the Army did not look into Bergdahl s diagnosis.
Therefore, Bowe Bergdahl was able to re enlist into the army. Because the Army neglected to check
Bowe s medical history, Bowe caused a Dustwun in the middle of Afghanistan in 2009, and was later
captured by the Taliban. As a result, the Taliban established a trade with the United States. In
exchange for Bowe Bergdahl, the Taliban wanted five of their commanders who were held by the
United States in Guantanamo Bay. However, the Army could have prevented Bowe from being held
captive, if the military had checked Bowe s records. Therefore, the army was at fault for allowing a
mentally ill soldier to re enlist in the army.
According to a study constructed by JAMA Psychiatry, a medical journal published by the American
Medical Association, explained that one out of five soldiers, who have enlisted into the military have
suffered from a mental disorder (Hastings). With this statistic, there are doubts regarding the military s
assessments of the enlisted. Matthew Nock, a Harvard University psychologist, led a study on mental
disorders in the military, and concluded that

Domestic Violence Social Problem
Domestic Violence as a Social Problem Domestic violence or intimate partner violence has been a
social problem for almost as long as humans have inhabited the earth. Domestic violence is often
defined as a pattern of abusive tactics aimed to maintain power and control over an intimate partner,
such as physical, psychological, sexual, and economic abuse. Like many social problems, domestic
violence can happen to anybody and can be perpetrated by anybody. It is generally accepted that as
many as 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced some form of physical violence by an
intimate partner in their lifetime (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2010). Furthermore, it is
believed that domestic violence impacts individuals with disabilities ... Show more content on

This may be the result of the lack of differences among the help seeking behavior and requested
services of survivors across identities. For example, one study found that LGBTQ individuals have
sought help at rates similar to their cisgender, heterosexual counterparts (Turell Cornell Swanson,
2005). With that being said, the study also reported a low rating of helpfulness of service providers
from this group (Turell Cornell Swanson, 2005). LGBTQ indidivuals reported that domestic violence
programs, police, attorneys, and clergy were the least helpful when seeking help related to a violent
incident, while family and friends were able to satisfy their needs (Turell Cornell Swanson, 2005).
While this could be interpreted as a lack of response from these agencies regarding domestic violence
towards LGBTQ individuals, it should also be noted that some of these agencies receive low ratings of
helpfulness from survivors across all identities. For example, the police response to domestic violence
has long been criticized by survivors of partner violence (Li et al., 2015). In some ways, the police
response to domestic violence has even worsened since the implementation of VAWA with mandatory
arrest policies disproportionately impacting women and other minorities (Qtd. in Li et al., 2015;
Sudbury, 2003). Furthermore, Chen Ullman predicted that the police response to sexual and domestic
violence is greatly influenced by myths perpetrated by rape culture such as disbelief of victims (Chen
Ullman, 2014). One benefit and service related to VAWA that has received a lot of criticism from
intersectional analysts is shelter services. Shelter services are typically gender based services (Turell
Cornell Swanson, 2005). Despite VAWA requiring an alternative service of equal opportunity being
offered, LGBTQ

Analysis Of The Film Powder
Powder is an albino teenage boy who was very intelligent and shunned after the death of his last
relative. After the death, people began to judge powder, not even knowing what he looked like or the
kind of person he was. His special abilities make him an outcast. In the readings, it says, The stranger
in town becomes shrouded with suspension. Every action is scrutinized. Every inaction is a sign of
guilt. The writer s argument is, don t judge a book by its cover.
The Screen writer and director of the film is Victor Salva. He is a writer and director of over twenty
short and long films before he graduated from high school. According to IMDb, the movie Powder
was his first big studio picture. It received a lot of critical acclaims and was top ten of the year several
times. Article Bio states, Professionally his career started from the year 1986 and within today s
context of time he is able to obtain successful position within the industry. After his biological father
left the family he was brought up by stepfather who often whose to get drunk and disturb the family
mostly by physical abuse.
After the death of one of his grandparents, he is discovered and sent to state home where he has
trouble fitting in. His unusual appearance and abilities caused the people in the town to mock and fear
him. Sheriff Barnum s wife, Emma is sick and in a coma and sheriff is unsure of what he should to
help her. Jessie asks Powder to pay Emma a visit to see if he could help. He touches Emma and shares
her thoughts with sheriff. It becomes clear to Powder that he will fit in with the others, so he runs
away and goes back home. Had they not judged him, they would be able to see the good and potential
in him. The writer/director wants the audience to think that our judgements and criticism shields us
from seeing the good and beauty in someone or something. His point is that we only perceive what is
in front of us. We as people are afraid of strangers because we taught to. The word stranger has a
series of definitions. According to Dictionary.com, A stranger can be a person with whom one has had
no acquaintance, a newcomer in a place or locality. An outsider, or a person who is not a member of

The Perception Of Visual Perception
Everyday our brain receive a big number of information from the environment around us. Eyes and
other sense organs, collects sensory inputs and transmits them to the brain. What is happening next?
The answer can be found in a process known as perception. But what is it exactly? Perception is the
mental activity of interpreting the impressions received through the senses of sight, hearing, tasting,
feeling and smelling (MacMillan and Powell, 1973). In other words, it is a process of taking
information about the environment and giving it meaning. How the brain attaches meaning to the
sensory information? The understanding of the mechanisms of this process was discussed widely
among philosophers in the past, but because of its complexity it is still a popular topic in
contemporary psychology. One of the most popular issue is visual perception. Some people say that
vision is our most dominant sense. Without direct contact, from the light that enters our eyes to the
complex cognitive processes that follow, we derive most of our information about what things are,
where they are, and how they move from our vision (Wade, Swanson 2013). The process of seeing is
directly connected with our brain by a light sensitive membrane in the back of the eye, called the
retina. The lens of the eye focuses light on the layer of cells in retina, subsequently light is converted
into neuronal signals, processed and sent to the primary and secondary visual cortex of the brain.
However, the image

Military Life Vs. Civilian Life
Military Life vs. Civilian Life When we think about the military these days, normally the first thing
that comes to mind is war. However, when we think about the civilian world the one thing that stands

similarities do exist. A few that will be discussed pertaining to military and civilian life are how

The Tragic Hero, John Practor, in The Crucible by Arthur...
John Proctor
The Crucible by Arthur Miller is set in Salem in a Puritan community. John Proctor had everything the
average puritan could ever want: a farm to ceaselessly toil upon, three sons to discipline, and a wife to
spend his life with. Proctor was a guy that wasn t afraid to speak his mind and throughout Salem he
was respected and honored for it. But John wasn t the perfect man either he had betrayed his wife and
committed adultery. John Proctor is the tragic hero because he is loving, loyal, authoritative, but his
tragic flaw is his temper.
John is a loving husband. He proves that by telling Elizabeth, It is well seasoned (p. 48) talking about

New Public Management ( Npm )
New Public Management (NPM) was developed in response to some criticisms of the public sector.
One of them is to make the public sector more financially accountable since they need to demonstrate
to the government who provides them funding, that the money is being put into good use. They also
need to ensure efficient resource allocation (Peyton) because resources are limited yet there is an
increase in expectations and demands. For example, number of public hospitals and medical expertise
may be insufficient to meet the public s demand. This is because government feel compelled to ensure
that everyone can access healthcare and is therefore, provided at a low cost. The problem is made
worse due to the growth of private hospitals, where quality of services is regarded as superior to
public hospitals. The public medical sector is thus under great pressure to improve service quality and
efficiency.
It is said that the new public management reforms have made public sector organisations more
calculable and accountable. First of all, it is important to define these terms. Calculable means the
ability to measure and assess the worth of something. In our context, it often means putting monetary
value on tangibles and intangibles. Accountable means being held responsible for actions taken and
the ability to answer to those who are involved in the process. Accountability can be towards donors
(upwards) or towards beneficiaries (downwards). In order to investigate this statement

Columbus State University Essay
Columbus State University is my first choice school. Aside from the prepossessing campus, the highly
equipped student facilities, and the eclectic clubs that have been created over the years, the science
program is what I am most elated about. While very young, I was quite fascinated with how things
worked, and this fascination turned into a love for science. I consider science to be behind the
explanation of how the world works. Understanding science is the key to understanding the world.
Many children, while I was growing up, dreamed of being actresses, pop stars, or princesses, but I
always dreamed of being a scientist. I want to eventually fulfill this dream by becoming a pharmacist.
My belief is that Columbus State University will give me a notable basis for this goal to be fulfilled
because of its class size and research program. Columbus State University has a 17:1 student to
teacher ratio. The extra attention shown to students, because of a smaller class size, is what helps
them, the students, to really understand the material they are learning. In order to be the best I can be,

gangs are teenagers and pre teens. Kids without enough attention or not having a father figure in their
life tend to join gangs. Kids want comfort and security and some feel they can find that in gangs. And
those are the kids we really need to focus on if we want to help prevent gangs in our society.

Anyone convicted under the proposed law would face an automatic increase in prison sentence, and
some homicides would become death penalty eligible(Journal Record, Staff). I believe this method
might not be successful due to many homicides committed by gang members which would cause
many young men to face the death penalty. A series of recommendations from various subcommittees
were brought together wednesday during a meeting of two panels working on gang violence issues,
but the element of time was also a key issue discussed by those in attendance at the state capitol
(Packham). State Sen. Constace Johnson, believes that we should focus more on education programs
to help prevent gang affiliation(Packham). Subcommittees suggested to train neighborhood
associations on how to identify and control different gangs and their activities (Packham). Atwood
feels that more funding sources are being diverted to other priority areas(Packham). There has been
plenty of recommendations we should use for gang prevention that are great ideas and can work. But I
feel they need to be executed better. The Oklahoma Arts Council and the Oklahoma City Police
Department may seem unlikely partners in gang prevention, but their work together has been
promising. since 2007, the police department has operated the F.A.C.T. program (Family Awareness
and Community Teamwork), which aims to step into the lives of youths who are walking a tightrope
between falling into gang

John Donne Holy Sonnets Essay
John Donne
Death is a very complicated subject that people view very differently in different situations. In John
Donne s Holy Sonnets, he writes about death in Meditations X and XVII. Both meditations use many
similar rhetorical devices and appeals, but the tones of the meditations are very disparate. Donne s
different messages in Meditations X and XVII convey tones of defiance and acquiescence towards
death, respectively. His apparent change of attitude towards death could be accounted for by his
differing life situations while he was writing the meditations: mid life, and near death.
Meditation X , which Donne wrote in mid life, has a very defiant and powerful tone. Donne ... Show

In Meditation XVII Donne uses logos to show how death is an omnipresent, omnipotent entity. His
repetition and emphasis of bells, which symbolize death, are reminders of how death is everywhere:
bells are everywhere, therefore death is everywhere.
The rhetorical devices in each of Donne s meditations do not differ much, but they create very
different tones. Allusion in both meditations to the Bible has different effects on the audience. In
Meditation X death is referred to as thou which alludes to the Bible which constantly uses thou when
God refers to human beings. This allusion is a further demonstration of Donne s feelings of superiority
over death. In Meditation XVII death is referred to as being an extension of God himself, which is an
extreme opposite from death s position in Meditation XVII , and which works to create the more
acquiescent and passive tone. Relatively, both meditations appeal to the audience s values of religion
and God by referring to the Bible. Irony is employed by Donne in order to set the overall tone of the
meditations. The irony in Meditation X is that in the end, Death, thou shalt die (Donne). This poetic
justice follows the theme of Meditation X in its defiance against the forces of nature, and ultimately
identifies the tone of recalcitrance. The irony of Meditation XVII is that death is our onely securitie,
which does not

Religious Hypocrisy In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
Research shows that several Flannery O Connor critics claim that her work A Good Man is Hard to
Find does not parallel her devout Catholic faith, but rather replicate the ideologies of atheism and even
go as far as to showcase religious hypocrisy. As Edwin Curley once quoted O Connor is often labelled
as a Catholic writer, but there is nothing peculiarly Catholic, or even Christian about her dark view of
human nature (Curley 31). This particular statement helps reaffirm the belief that O Connor
demonstrates an atheist viewpoint and simultaneously contradicts her religious piety. However, O
Connor subconsciously believes and demonstrates through her work that the Grandmother and the
Misfit s final fate is to be redeemed by an epiphany of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Edwin Curley displays the argument that O Connor s work is not a religious story.
Rather than dissecting the various elements that O Connor utilizes to intertwine human nature with
religion, Curley examines her writing and automatically claims that her work had nothing particularly
Catholic, or even Christian on O Connor s work. Instead of studying how she might have related her
pessimistic view of mankind to her religion, Curley relates her work to Machiavelli s The Prince and
Thomas Hobbes Social Contract, two works symbolize human wickedness and lack of morality.
Additionally, Stanley Renner s Secular Meaning in A Good Man Is Hard to Find display similar
attitudes regarding the story and religious motives. Instead of showcasing O Connor s the religious
motives mentioned above, Renner looks directly at the secular interpretations of the story. For
example, Renner argues that the Grandmother s love for Jesus only stirred the murderer s homicidal
rage (Renner 124), implying that the Misfit merely possessed atheist viewpoints instead of diving into
the greater meaning of the story by how religion played a role in A Good Man Is Hard to Find.
Furthermore, Douglas Leonard expresses that O Connor realizes the flimsiness of her old form of
Christianity: her religion has consisted of nothing more than platitudes which she manipulated to suit
her own purposes and with which she

Synopsis of Elizabeth Gaskell s Ruth Essay
Synopsis of Elizabeth Gaskell s Ruth This is a classic book that focuses on domesticity in the 18th
century. It highlights the basically mundane life that faced women (particularly spinsters) of this era. If
you want exitement and adventure this is not the book for you. If, however you are interested in the
history of domesticity and how small things meant so much, then this book is delightful.

After the loss of her mother at the age of one, she was brought up by her aunt, Hannah Lamb, who
lived in Knutsford, a country town in the suburb of Manchester.
Elizabeth shared her father s religious beliefs and attended the local Unitarian chapel and taught
Sunday School. At the age of eighteen, Elizabeth s brother, John Stevenson was lost at sea. The news
devastated her father and he went into a deep depression that he would never awake from. Elizabeth
returned to her father s household in London where she nursed him until his death in 1829.
A distant relative, William Turner, a Unitarian minister in Newcastle, invited Elizabeth to live with his
family. Elizabeth s was deeply influenced by Turner s religious beliefs and charitable works. On a visit
to Turner s daughter, who lived in Manchester, Elizabeth met William Gaskell, a minister at their local
Unitarian chapel. They quickly developed a close friendship and were married on August 30th, 1832.
Most of William Gaskell s parishioners were textile workers and Elizabeth was deeply shocked by the
poverty she witnessed in Manchester. Elizabeth, like her husband, became involved in various charity
work in the city.

The Commissioning Of The Twelve
Vincent DiRienzo
Religion 409
Commissioning the Twelve
The commissioning of the twelve is a very special passage which tells of the apostles meaning and
what they must do. The passage is number 58 which spans Matthew 9:35 10:16, Mark 6:6, Luke 9:1
and Luke 10:1 12. This passage is an interesting one in terms of its reading. Not only does each
passage have its own meaning and information, we have two Luke passages in a single read, each one
having its own wording which I will go into later.
First passage we have Matthew who starts the passage off with Jesus going through all the cities and
villages teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of heaven,
curing every disease and every sickness in sight. Jesus came upon a crowd and he looked at them with
compassion for they were being harassed like a sheep without a shepherd . He then went to his
disciples and said The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; ask the Lord of the harvest to send
out laborers into his harvest. Jesus called upon his disciples and gave them the authority of unclean
spirits, to cast them out, and to cure every disease and every sickness. It then states the names of the
twelve disciples going from Simon, known as peter to Judas the betrayer. Jesus then gave the twelve
specific instructions Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go
rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. As you go, proclaim the good news, The kingdom

Emo Research Paper
What is emo?
Emo stands for emotional or emotional hardcore. It was a style of rock music that has developed since
the late 80 s. It expresses feelings and emotions, which other genres of music didn t at that time. It is
mainly teenagers who are involved in the emo subculture.
Emo music is often dramatic and sad, and you might wonder why. It s made for the teenagers and
being a teenager is a time to start discovering one s identity. Some teens use the emo music to explore
their emotions and discovering themselves.
Emo is a subculture with its own kind of attitude and fashion. The emos are known to be sensi tive,
emotional and shy.

The punk music was at that time about the community and politics. Some punk bands like Rites of
Spring in 1984 began to sing about more emotions like ro mance, nostalgia and depression. The new
subgenre of music got the name emotional hardcore, emocore, later shortened to emo. A lot of other
bands followed in their footsteps. Bands like the Swing Kids from southern California developed their
own more aggressive and chaotic version emocore, known as screamo.
Around the early 90 s, record labels began to see the possible success with emo music. With the
growing music scene, the music became trend.
In the late 90 s, record labels wanted to profit from the emo bands, but the bands usually broke up
before they got mainstream. In 1997, Jimmy Eat World who was an unsigned band, got discovered
and signed and was one of the first emo bands to go mainstream.
As the emo music became mainstream, other bands picked up some of the sounds from the early emo
bands and the emo sound changed. The new sound was softer, but it is what we know as emo today.
Bands like My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco are great examples of what
we see as emo today.

Dead Poets Society Conformity
What is conformity? To put it simply, it means to adhere to societal standards or norms . Adolescents
are particularly susceptible to such; when they begin to separate from their family and form their own
identity is when they also seek acceptance from their peers or live up to expectations from their
parental figures. Conforming to social norms help them redefine themselves while earning them
acceptance and approval. Fitting in simply feels good (Ulene 6). It means that by blending in and
mimicking the people around them makes teenagers feel good during the process of finding
themselves. Conformity to the social norms of an era is a common problem among teens. While
attempting to create their own identity, they are actively trying to fit ... Show more content on

The music video depicts a young child building a wall between himself and his peers. He is different
from the children who all look the same with their masks. He writes poetry, which he is punished for,
and simply does not fit in with his peers who actively submit themselves to their teachers All in all,
you were all just bricks in the wall (Pink Floyd, 8). They are fed into a machine that spits them out
looking exactly the same as each other, then fed into a meat grinder, symbolizing their own self
destruction. Of course, while actual students are not fed into a meat grinder, the symbolism is clear.
Students go through their school career being told what to do and how to act. This will program the
kids into acting in similar fashions, thereby contributing to the child s isolation. The symbolism
directly translates into teenagers today: being trained to do the same schoolwork the same way that
will get recycled later. Conformity in a school environment, which is where it is most common, is
arguably the most destructive as that is where the majority of teenagers spend their

Who Was Responsible For The Titanic
Have you ever wanted to know who was responsible for the sinking of the titanic? well I m going tell
you because this is the biggest boat crash with the most fatalities in history. Why should you care?
Because I have a theory about the sinking of the titanic. I believe that captain smith was the person
who was responsible for the sinking of the titanic because of multiple reasons. One of the reasons I
think captain smith is responsible is because of the iceberg warning thing. One iceberg warning is ok
to ignore because he sent people to look for it, but when he ignores seven I thinks that s the limit
because not only are you getting one your are getting six more and means there is a serious ice
problem when you get seven. Another

Write An Essay On Coqui Frog
Invasive and Dangerous: The Coqui Frog Recently, an invasive and lilliputian frog has had a
detrimental effect on the Hawaiian environment. Originally from Puerto Rico, the amphibian arrived
in Hawaii and spread like a plague. Such a small frog cannot have that big of an impact, right? Wrong.
The Coqui frog is a damaging invasive species of the Hawaiian islands due to its lack of natural
predators and adaptability, dangerous eating habits, and its easy distribution among the state. One
reason the Coqui Frog is especially harmful to Hawaii s many ecosystems is because they are
adaptable and have no natural predators. For example, the Hawaii Invasive Species Council states the
frog has No natural predators to keep populations in check (and no natural competitors), populations
have reached 55,000 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the Hawaii Invasive Species Council, Coqui frogs do not travel very far on their own,
but when given the chance to hop on a nursery plant, flowers, or vehicle, they can quickly spread.
Most coqui arrive on new islands through infested nursery plants and flowers. Intra island, coqui
travel by the movement of plants by humans and may hitch a ride on vehicles (Coqui). In other words,
the frog will latch on to a variety of human transportations and expand their boundaries. Furthermore,
Coquis are nocturnal, so the dissemination of the frogs is partially affiliated with the motion and
relocation of various house plants (Plant). Residents of Hawaii are evidently a large reason the frog
has the ability to grow in numbers and located across the state. Some people when coming across the
frog relocate and release it, spreading the frog an even farther distance (which it is illegal to provide
transportation to the amphibians) (Plant). Consequently, the frog populations are growing and will
continue, unless residents of Hawaii are cooperative in reducing the spread of the

Words That Describes Me Research Paper
Unique, funny, quirky, loving, and weird. These are just some words that describes me! I am a funny,
loving 12 year old 7th grader that has many passions including spending quality family time, playing
sports, going out into nature, and trying to make a school team.
When I am feeling down, just taking a walk into nature brings me to my happy place. The fresh air
that gently brushes my face. Or going on a hike listening to the animal s calls. Even just looking
around at the scenery. Mankind s love for nature has always been a great mystery. Some might say it
has it has no purpose, but everything was made to have a cause. I believe that nature s cause is to bring

When I was little my family and I skied. As they went from okay to amazing, I went from okay to

Essay on Australia s Trade
Australia has several ties with other countries. These ties are established in several ways, one of which
is through trade. The nature of trade includes exporting and importing goods and services which form
trade links with partner countries. Trade comes with its advantages and disadvantages. Australia also
takes part in multilateral agreements, such as APEC, to be able to strengthen trade links.
International trade is the exchange of goods and services between nations. Goods meaning tangible
objects like clothes, food and such, while services are non tangible items like tourism and education.

Australia s Position in the global exporting market is only 22nd, which is far from its leading top trade
partners that fit in the Top 5. Also, Australia s global ranking in the global importing market is 18th,
which is under India whose economic status is much lower than Australia. A second disadvantage that
Trading brings to Australia is the competition between local small businesses and Trans National
Corporations (TNC). Local businesses are closing down and being taken over because of the increase
in the entrance of TNCs in Australia. Large Fast food chain Corporations like McDonalds, put local
fish and chips shops under pressure. Another disadvantage with Australia being part of International
trading is that most of the products that Australia export are agricultural goods that has high tariffs,
making it costly for Australia to be able to export.
Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is the pre eminent economic rally in Australia s region.
APEC s goal is to drive an extensive trade and investment liberalisation and facilitation agenda. It is
focused on structural reform as a means of raising competitiveness and the efficiency of trade and
investment flows. It has helped Australia with building and strengthening ties with other countries
such as Brunei, Singapore, Philippines and other countries in the region. In 2009, 70% of Australia s
trade is with APEC countries.

Middle school was when I realized how fascinated I am by animals, their behavior, and their welfare. I began to notice the overpopulation issue of strays and the overfill in local shelters. It opened my eyes to what seemed like a different aspect of the world. There are so many social issues that people are focused on, and some people have started to ignore other living creatures. This has struck me. As I ve been getting older, I feel, more and more, like I can make a difference, at least in my community. Technological Change Airbus claimed that its latest aircraft, A330neo had been upgraded and it would be as fuel efficient as Boeing s new 787 Dreamliner (Business Insider, 2014). This is an important advancement in technology because 33% of the operating costs of airlines was spent on fuel (Air Transport Action Group, 2014). An advance in aircraft technology that reduced fuel consumption reduced the total operating costs of the plane. The more fuel efficient an aircraft was, the bigger the distance travelled by that particular aircraft with a set amount of fuel. This allowed an airline to expand its network and consider routes that they were unable to consider before. However technology evolved quickly and if a better aircraft is launched soon after an airline has bought the previous version, the previous version would most probably become obsolete in a short period of time. In addition to that, there was a high possibility that the start up cost of buying new aircrafts could be a cost burden in the short term. The Battle Within Bowe Bergdahl The Battle Within Bowe Bergdahl The second season of the podcast series, Serial, hosted by Sarah Koenig, an American Journalist, focuses on a soldier named Bowe Bergdahl, who, at the age of 19, enlisted into the Coast Guard. Bowe Bergdahl only lasted a couple weeks in training due to the fact that he was diagnosed with situational anxiety. Without proper guidance, the Army did not look into Bergdahl s diagnosis. Therefore, Bowe Bergdahl was able to re enlist into the army. Because the Army neglected to check Bowe s medical history, Bowe caused a Dustwun in the middle of Afghanistan in 2009, and was later captured by the Taliban. As a result, the Taliban established a trade with the United States. In exchange for Bowe Bergdahl, the Taliban wanted five of their commanders who were held by the United States in Guantanamo Bay. However, the Army could have prevented Bowe from being held captive, if the military had checked Bowe s records. Therefore, the army was at fault for allowing a mentally ill soldier to re enlist in the army. According to a study constructed by JAMA Psychiatry, a medical journal published by the American Medical Association, explained that one out of five soldiers, who have enlisted into the military have suffered from a mental disorder (Hastings). Domestic Violence Social Problem Domestic Violence as a Social Problem Domestic violence or intimate partner violence has been a social problem for almost as long as humans have inhabited the earth. Domestic violence is often defined as a pattern of abusive tactics aimed to maintain power and control over an intimate partner, such as physical, psychological, sexual, and economic abuse. Like many social problems, domestic violence can happen to anybody and can be perpetrated by anybody. It is generally accepted that as many as 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2010). Furthermore, it is believed that domestic violence impacts individuals with disabilities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This may be the result of the lack of differences among the help seeking behavior and requested services of survivors across identities. For example, one study found that LGBTQ individuals have sought help at rates similar to their cisgender, heterosexual counterparts (Turell Cornell Swanson, 2005). With that being said, the study also reported a low rating of helpfulness of service providers from this group (Turell Cornell Swanson, 2005). LGBTQ indidivuals reported that domestic violence programs, police, attorneys, and clergy were the least helpful when seeking help related to a violent incident, while family and friends were able to satisfy their needs (Turell Cornell Swanson, 2005). While this could be interpreted as a lack of response from these agencies regarding domestic violence towards LGBTQ individuals, it should also be noted that some of these agencies receive low ratings of helpfulness from survivors across all identities. For example, the police response to domestic violence has long been criticized by survivors of partner violence (Li et al., 2015). In some ways, the police response to domestic violence has even worsened since the implementation of VAWA with mandatory arrest policies disproportionately impacting women and other minorities (Qtd. in Li et al., 2015; Sudbury, 2003). Furthermore, Chen Ullman predicted that the police response to sexual and domestic violence is greatly influenced by myths perpetrated by rape culture such as disbelief of victims (Chen Ullman, 2014). One benefit and service related to VAWA that has received a lot of criticism from intersectional analysts is shelter services. Shelter services are typically gender based services (Turell Cornell Swanson, 2005). Despite VAWA requiring an alternative service of equal opportunity being offered, LGBTQ ... • 17. The Perception Of Visual Perception Everyday our brain receive a big number of information from the environment around us. Eyes and other sense organs, collects sensory inputs and transmits them to the brain. What is happening next? The answer can be found in a process known as perception. But what is it exactly? Perception is the mental activity of interpreting the impressions received through the senses of sight, hearing, tasting, feeling and smelling (MacMillan and Powell, 1973). In other words, it is a process of taking information about the environment and giving it meaning. How the brain attaches meaning to the sensory information? The understanding of the mechanisms of this process was discussed widely among philosophers in the past, but because of its complexity it is still a popular topic in contemporary psychology. One of the most popular issue is visual perception. Some people say that vision is our most dominant sense. Without direct contact, from the light that enters our eyes to the complex cognitive processes that follow, we derive most of our information about what things are, where they are, and how they move from our vision (Wade, Swanson 2013). The process of seeing is directly connected with our brain by a light sensitive membrane in the back of the eye, called the retina. The lens of the eye focuses light on the layer of cells in retina, subsequently light is converted into neuronal signals, processed and sent to the primary and secondary visual cortex of the brain. However, the image ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. New Public Management ( Npm ) New Public Management (NPM) was developed in response to some criticisms of the public sector. One of them is to make the public sector more financially accountable since they need to demonstrate to the government who provides them funding, that the money is being put into good use. They also need to ensure efficient resource allocation (Peyton) because resources are limited yet there is an increase in expectations and demands. For example, number of public hospitals and medical expertise may be insufficient to meet the public s demand. This is because government feel compelled to ensure that everyone can access healthcare and is therefore, provided at a low cost. The problem is made worse due to the growth of private hospitals, where quality of services is regarded as superior to public hospitals. The public medical sector is thus under great pressure to improve service quality and efficiency. It is said that the new public management reforms have made public sector organisations more calculable and accountable. First of all, it is important to define these terms. Calculable means the ability to measure and assess the worth of something. In our context, it often means putting monetary value on tangibles and intangibles. Accountable means being held responsible for actions taken and the ability to answer to those who are involved in the process. Accountability can be towards donors (upwards) or towards beneficiaries (downwards). In order to investigate this statement ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Anyone convicted under the proposed law would face an automatic increase in prison sentence, and some homicides would become death penalty eligible(Journal Record, Staff). I believe this method might not be successful due to many homicides committed by gang members which would cause many young men to face the death penalty. A series of recommendations from various subcommittees were brought together wednesday during a meeting of two panels working on gang violence issues, but the element of time was also a key issue discussed by those in attendance at the state capitol (Packham). State Sen. Constace Johnson, believes that we should focus more on education programs to help prevent gang affiliation(Packham). Subcommittees suggested to train neighborhood associations on how to identify and control different gangs and their activities (Packham). Atwood feels that more funding sources are being diverted to other priority areas(Packham). There has been plenty of recommendations we should use for gang prevention that are great ideas and can work. But I feel they need to be executed better. The Oklahoma Arts Council and the Oklahoma City Police Department may seem unlikely partners in gang prevention, but their work together has been promising. since 2007, the police department has operated the F.A.C.T. program (Family Awareness and Community Teamwork), which aims to step into the lives of youths who are walking a tightrope between falling into gang ... • 23. John Donne Holy Sonnets Essay John Donne Death is a very complicated subject that people view very differently in different situations. In John Donne s Holy Sonnets, he writes about death in Meditations X and XVII. Both meditations use many similar rhetorical devices and appeals, but the tones of the meditations are very disparate. Donne s different messages in Meditations X and XVII convey tones of defiance and acquiescence towards death, respectively. His apparent change of attitude towards death could be accounted for by his differing life situations while he was writing the meditations: mid life, and near death. Meditation X , which Donne wrote in mid life, has a very defiant and powerful tone. Donne ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Meditation XVII Donne uses logos to show how death is an omnipresent, omnipotent entity. His repetition and emphasis of bells, which symbolize death, are reminders of how death is everywhere: bells are everywhere, therefore death is everywhere. The rhetorical devices in each of Donne s meditations do not differ much, but they create very different tones. Allusion in both meditations to the Bible has different effects on the audience. In Meditation X death is referred to as thou which alludes to the Bible which constantly uses thou when God refers to human beings. This allusion is a further demonstration of Donne s feelings of superiority over death. In Meditation XVII death is referred to as being an extension of God himself, which is an extreme opposite from death s position in Meditation XVII , and which works to create the more acquiescent and passive tone. Relatively, both meditations appeal to the audience s values of religion and God by referring to the Bible. Irony is employed by Donne in order to set the overall tone of the meditations. The irony in Meditation X is that in the end, Death, thou shalt die (Donne). This poetic justice follows the theme of Meditation X in its defiance against the forces of nature, and ultimately identifies the tone of recalcitrance. The irony of Meditation XVII is that death is our onely securitie, which does not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Religious Hypocrisy In A Good Man Is Hard To Find Research shows that several Flannery O Connor critics claim that her work A Good Man is Hard to Find does not parallel her devout Catholic faith, but rather replicate the ideologies of atheism and even go as far as to showcase religious hypocrisy. As Edwin Curley once quoted O Connor is often labelled as a Catholic writer, but there is nothing peculiarly Catholic, or even Christian about her dark view of human nature (Curley 31). This particular statement helps reaffirm the belief that O Connor demonstrates an atheist viewpoint and simultaneously contradicts her religious piety. However, O Connor subconsciously believes and demonstrates through her work that the Grandmother and the Misfit s final fate is to be redeemed by an epiphany of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Edwin Curley displays the argument that O Connor s work is not a religious story. Rather than dissecting the various elements that O Connor utilizes to intertwine human nature with religion, Curley examines her writing and automatically claims that her work had nothing particularly Catholic, or even Christian on O Connor s work. Instead of studying how she might have related her pessimistic view of mankind to her religion, Curley relates her work to Machiavelli s The Prince and Thomas Hobbes Social Contract, two works symbolize human wickedness and lack of morality. Additionally, Stanley Renner s Secular Meaning in A Good Man Is Hard to Find display similar attitudes regarding the story and religious motives. Instead of showcasing O Connor s the religious motives mentioned above, Renner looks directly at the secular interpretations of the story. For example, Renner argues that the Grandmother s love for Jesus only stirred the murderer s homicidal rage (Renner 124), implying that the Misfit merely possessed atheist viewpoints instead of diving into the greater meaning of the story by how religion played a role in A Good Man Is Hard to Find. Furthermore, Douglas Leonard expresses that O Connor realizes the flimsiness of her old form of Christianity: her religion has consisted of nothing more than platitudes which she manipulated to suit her own purposes and with which she ... • 26. The Commissioning Of The Twelve Vincent DiRienzo Religion 409 Commissioning the Twelve The commissioning of the twelve is a very special passage which tells of the apostles meaning and what they must do. The passage is number 58 which spans Matthew 9:35 10:16, Mark 6:6, Luke 9:1 and Luke 10:1 12. This passage is an interesting one in terms of its reading. Not only does each passage have its own meaning and information, we have two Luke passages in a single read, each one having its own wording which I will go into later. First passage we have Matthew who starts the passage off with Jesus going through all the cities and villages teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of heaven, curing every disease and every sickness in sight. Jesus came upon a crowd and he looked at them with compassion for they were being harassed like a sheep without a shepherd . He then went to his disciples and said The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. Jesus called upon his disciples and gave them the authority of unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to cure every disease and every sickness. It then states the names of the twelve disciples going from Simon, known as peter to Judas the betrayer. Jesus then gave the twelve specific instructions Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Adolescents are particularly susceptible to such; when they begin to separate from their family and form their own identity is when they also seek acceptance from their peers or live up to expectations from their parental figures. Conforming to social norms help them redefine themselves while earning them acceptance and approval. Fitting in simply feels good (Ulene 6). They are fed into a machine that spits them out looking exactly the same as each other, then fed into a meat grinder, symbolizing their own self destruction. Of course, while actual students are not fed into a meat grinder, the symbolism is clear. Students go through their school career being told what to do and how to act. This will program the kids into acting in similar fashions, thereby contributing to the child s isolation. The symbolism directly translates into teenagers today: being trained to do the same schoolwork the same way that will get recycled later. I believe that captain smith was the person who was responsible for the sinking of the titanic because of multiple reasons. One of the reasons I think captain smith is responsible is because of the iceberg warning thing. Originally from Puerto Rico, the amphibian arrived in Hawaii and spread like a plague. Such a small frog cannot have that big of an impact, right? Wrong. The Coqui frog is a damaging invasive species of the Hawaiian islands due to its lack of natural predators and adaptability, dangerous eating habits, and its easy distribution among the state. One reason the Coqui Frog is especially harmful to Hawaii s many ecosystems is because they are adaptable and have no natural predators. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most coqui arrive on new islands through infested nursery plants and flowers. Intra island, coqui travel by the movement of plants by humans and may hitch a ride on vehicles (Coqui). In other words, the frog will latch on to a variety of human transportations and expand their boundaries. Furthermore, Coquis are nocturnal, so the dissemination of the frogs is partially affiliated with the motion and relocation of various house plants (Plant). Residents of Hawaii are evidently a large reason the frog has the ability to grow in numbers and located across the state. Some people when coming across the frog relocate and release it, spreading the frog an even farther distance (which it is illegal to provide transportation to the amphibians) (Plant).
