Posada
Mexico celebrates christmas from Dec. 12th to Jan. 6th. From the 16th to christmas eve some of the
children perform a reenactment called the Posada . If you didn t know Posada is Spanish for Lodging
or Inn. They have nine Posadas. When they get into the Posadas they decorate with moss, evergreens,
and paper lanterns. Each Posada children get a board and candles. They have them to hold painted
figures of Mary and Joseph riding on a donkey. They go down the streets and sing songs to each
home. The song they sing when they go to the houses is about mary and joseph asking for a room in
the Posada. The children are told that there is now room so they must go away. Soon after they are told
there is room so they are welcomed in. Once they enter they say prayers and celebrate by having a
party with food, games and fireworks. Each night a different house holds the Posada party. On the last
night of Posadas there is a whole bunch shepherds on a board. When the posada is done there is a
figure of baby jesus in a manger on the board and then there is a church service. After the church ...

A piñata is a decorated clay or papier mâché jar filled with sweets and hung from the ceiling or tree
branch. The piñata is often decorated like a ball with seven peaks around it. The spikes represent the
seven deadly sins . Piñata s can also be in the form of an animal or bird.To play the game, children are
blindfolded and take turns to hit the piñata with a stick until it splits open and the sweets pour out.
Then the children rush to pick up as many sweets as they can! As well as the posada s, another type of
Christmas play known as Pastorelas (The Shepherds). These tell the story of the shepherds going to
find the baby Jesus and are often very funny. The devil tries to stop them by tempting them along the
way. But the shepherds always get there in the end, often with the help of the Archangel Michael, who

How Did Emily Dickinson Influence Her Work
Emily Dickinson is currently considered one of the most famous American authors, despite the fact
that her work was not well known in her own day. Emily was notable to American Literature, and she
sealed the road for several of today s poets. She was a creative poet, determined writer, and an
extreme introvert who never gave up. Emily Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830 and passed
away at age 55 on May 15, 1886. ( Emily Famous). Having grown up in poverty, it influenced her
poems greatly. Emily Dickinson s father, Edward Dickinson, was a lawyer, a member of Congress,
and the treasurer of Amherst College ( Emily Encyclopedia). Dickinson s mother, Emily Norcross

It is very popular because she uses this metaphor through a bird, showing that even in the hard times
we should still have hope ( Emily Study). Theres many reasons why this poem is so popular, one
being the way she puts commas around the word hope (O Connor). Hope is the Thing with Feathers is
also a very positive poem, and many people feel as if it speaks right to the heart (O Connor). There is
a lot of reviews saying that it just has a pleasant type of message (O Connor). Many people also find it
a very good description of hope, and many people love it because they feel as if they can relate to it (O
Connor). This poem was published in 1891 in the 2nd collection of Dickinson s work, Poems by
Emily Dickinson, second series ( Hope Encyclopedia). My opinion of Hope is the Thing with Feathers
would have to be that she was very clear with her message. Not only do I feel that I can relate to it, I
feel as if many other people can relate to it. That poems main point is about hope and how you should
believe in it whenever things are not looking up for you, and I think that is very true. Many times
people get discouraged and think that there is nothing left but there is, and it is hope. I highly agree
with Dickinson in her poem Hope is the Thing with Feathers . Other people who have written reviews
on the poem say that it gives them chills, and that they adored this poem

How Does Art Spiegelman Use Animals In Maus
Maus is successful by the special way of describing a historical tragedy, the whole story is written in
graphic memoir. Art Spiegelman uses animals to represent each category of character in the story, and
each animal has a certain meaning. He replaces cats as Nazis, pig as Polish, dog as Americans, and
mouse, just like the title of the story, Jews.
We associate with Tom and Jerry which is cats chasing mouse when we think of mice. Nazi, which is
cats, treat Jews like hunting mice. A mouse, which have to spend whole their life to escape from cats
to avoid the destiny of being a part of the food chain and complete the mission of reproduction.
Likewise, the Jews are not considered human, Nazis treat them a kind of animal, it was a miserable
period for Jews to live. According to Adolf Hitler s quote in the beginning of Maus, The Jews are
undoubtedly a race, but they are not human. Art Spiegelman uses this conception to create mouse as
the main character in the story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Normally, in the tale or human s stereotype cats symbolize sneaky, conniving and arrogant. In the
story, we can see what Nazis do is as cruel as Nazis. Cats born to hunt, they hunt for living, and a
chance to reproduce. Similarly, the Nazi soldiers are taught to hunt , they hunt for what they believe,
and accomplish Hitler s goal. The cat is also part of the food chain, but they hunt mice

Analysis Of The Star Spangled Banner
Flag of our Fathers The Star Spangled Banner is the National Anthem of the United States of America.
It is a very important song that represents a free country where anything is possible. Recently the
National Anthem has been the platform for protesting police brutality against African Americans. The
protests have mostly been done during professional football games when players take a knee or sit on
the bench when the Anthem is being played. Obviously, this has caused a controversy as people find it
very disrespectful for being the way to protest. People are upset because they think that the National
Anthem has nothing to do with police brutality and by taking a knee they are disrespecting the people
who have fought to protect this country. The importance of standing for the American National
Anthem comes from respect for the country and those who defend it, pride to be in a free country and
unity of all those protected in a free America. There are many possible solutions such as, players to
donating their time to youth centers of respecting police and working with the police to help them
understand the African American culture better but also the police teaching how important and
dangerous their job is. According to the 36 US Code 301 National Anthem, it does not break any law
to not stand for the National Anthem. The code contains a list of rules that states: When the National
Anthem is being played such as, (A) individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first
note of the anthem and maintain that position until the last note; (2) when the flag is not displayed, all
present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were
displayed. The key word is should , so if you don t want to stand for the National Anthem you don t
have too. Some people believe that doesn t matter, as long as they are able to stand they should to
show respect during the National Anthem. There are people who have fought and died for the right to
live in the greatest country in the world. If they don t stand for their country one that they should be
proud to call home, if nothing else you should at least stand for those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. I
understand that the players

The Characteristics Of Early Islamic Art And Early...
Early Christian art had a rough start. It started off not being wanted because it worshiped idols and
that was frowned upon in the early days. Although, as time went on and Christians started realizing the
benefits that art had at conveying their beliefs. The earliest Christian art occurred in the catacombs,
which were underground tombs under the city and they often depicted biblical symbols like Noah s
ark. Architecture also grew during this time, as people got more accepting of this culture things started
picking up. Art became in demand and so did architecture. Before the spike happened, early Christians
didn t have any designated places to worship and as soon as it became more accepted that changed.
Early Christian churches often mimicked roman work because it was so successful. An example of
this was Old St. Peter. Architecture and art weren t the only thing early Christians used to push
Christianity into the mainstream, music also played a role in the development Christianity. Early
Christian music prohibited instrumental accompaniment of any kind (Benton and Diyannni 185). This
was mainly because it wasn t considered religious it was considered un religious. As time progressed
this was eventually overturned. Early Christian music often used harps as a background for the
scriptures.
Islamic art is very different characteristics than early Christian art. The main difference is the location.
Early Christian art started in one place Jerusalem, but Islamic art came from

The War in Afghanistan
Most people think of the War in Afghanistan as a war that the United States have been fighting over
the last decade. But the truth is that Afghanistan has been a country familiar with war for over the last
35 years. Afghanistan became an independent nation in 1921 and The United States formally
recognized Afghanistan as a county in 1934.(1) The first war involving the independent country of
Afghanistan was against the Soviet Union when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan in 1979. The war
between the Soviet Union and Afghanistan lasted a little over 10 years and set the conditions for a
future war between Taliban in Afghanistan and the United States. Latter the United States declared
war in Afghanistan after the terrorist attack on the United State on September 11th, 2001. The war was
not against the country, but against the Taliban military and insurgents residing in the country. This
war is still ongoing today, which makes the Afghanistan War the longest war ever fought by the
United States of America. In 1973 Price Mohammed Daud overthrew King Zahir Shah and claimed
himself as the President of Afghanistan. (2) This was the beginning of the problems in Afghanistan
and for its people. A civil war was breaking out in the country and in the Soviet Union used it as an
excuse to invade the country. The Soviet

Thematic content analysis was used in order to be able to draw conclusions from the qualitative data
from the interviews and document review (DeSantis Noel Ugarriza, 2000). Qualitative content
analysis is defined as: a research method for the subjective interpretation of the content of text data
through the systematic classification process of coding and identifying themes or patterns (Hsieh
Shannon, 2005, p.1278). This means that the data input is evaluated to search for patterns that extend
across the data and coded into categories in order to develop data interpretations (Vaismoradi,
Turunen, Bondas, 2013). For this purpose ATLAS.ti was used to analyse the qualitative data findings.
Codes were first prepared in accordance with the theoretical framework (for this framework see
Appendix B) (Braun Clarke, 2006). ATLAS.ti was used for assigning open codes as well as to create
coding memos. Codes and themes were analysed and related to theory formulation (see Appendix C
for the code book that was used in ATLAS.ti) (for a review and practical guide to using qualitative
data analysis see Hwang, 2008). For each code, an output was created. This output consists of a file in
which all the quotations of a certain code to be put one after the other, these are the passages that are

Consciousness and Philosophers of the Mind
Consciousness and Philosophers of Mind
Consciousness is a word used by philosophers, to signify that immediate knowledge which we have of
our present thoughts and purposes, and, in general of all the operations of our mind... [and] if I am
asked to prove that I cannot be deceived by consciousness to prove that it is not a fallacious sense I
can find no proof... (Thomas Reid, referenced by Lehrer, 2008).
Introduction
There are many features of consciousness that philosophers of the mind discuss and debate. Two are
found within the philosophy of Russ McBride; they are: a) ...a conscious creature or subject ; and b) a
conscious mental state (Manson, 2011, 100). Another philosophy professor, Michael Antony, sees two
features that are commonly debated and dissected by scholars in and out of the field of philosophy.
Those features are the conscious state and the conscious creature both of which will be further
developed in this paper. Are mental states always clearly conscious states ? Or are they clearly not
conscious? Antony argues that it is impossible to accept that there could be any borderline cases or
fuzzy boundaries for concepts of consciousness (Antony, 2008). Antony s and other approaches to
consciousness are reviewed and critiqued in this paper.
The Literature on Consciousness
The concept of consciousness is ambiguous and polysemic (having more than one meaning),
according to professor Neil Manson (King s College in London). The fact that

The Four Noble Truths In Buddhism
The Four Noble Truths are the four central beliefs containing the essence of Buddhist teachings.
Buddhism is a major global religion with a complex history and system of beliefs. What is suffering?
Suffering is, the state of undergoing pain, distress, or hardship. Suffering exists; it has a cause, but it
also has an end; and it has a cause which brings about its end. The notion of suffering is not intended
to convey a negative world view, but instead a perspective that deals with the world as it is, and
attempts to rectify it. The four noble truths are a plan for dealing with the suffering humanity faces,
which is suffering of a physical kind, or of a mental nature. These four noble truths consist of the truth
of suffering, the truth of the cause of suffering, the truth of the end of suffering, and the truth of the
path of that leads to the end of suffering. Buddha had learned that all people have one thing in
common: if they think about their own life, or look at the world around them, they will see that life is
full of suffering. The first noble truth is the truth of suffering, which is also called Dukkha. Buddha
had said that suffering may be physical or mental. Suffering includes when someone is suffering of
birth, old age, sickness, and death are all unavoidable, it is something that comes with life. Physical
suffering can come in many forms, but it is part of us as human to endure the suffering. As we become
older all of us find that life can become more

Heteronormativity Analysis
Before reading this week s readings, I understood heteronormativity as the idea that being
heterosexual is normal and how many believe that is the only way to live even if you are not
heterosexual. I realized how sexuality is much more complicated than I originally thought. Sexuality
is not just one dimensional but there are so many parts to it that people are not aware of.
Being a heterosexual woman, I am stuck between an advantaged group and a disadvantaged group. I
am privileged for being heterosexual in the sense that I will never have to deal with the fear of
someone finding out who I love or expressing that love. I am a woman, so I am disadvantaged when it
comes to men being superior in the eyes of society. I agreed when the reading

These claims on banks can act as money because they are negotiable or repayable on demand, and
hence valued at par. They are effectively transferable by mere delivery, in the case of banknotes, or by
drawing a cheque that the payee may bank or cash. 2. Netting and settlement of payments banks act as
both collection and paying agents for customers, participating in interbank clearing and settlement
systems to collect, present, be presented with, and pay payment instruments. This enables banks to
economies on reserves held for settlement of payments, since inward and outward payments offset
each other. It also enables the offsetting of payment flows between geographical areas, reducing the
cost of settlement between them. 3. Credit intermediation banks borrow and lend back to back on their
own account as middle men. 4. Credit quality improvement banks lend money to ordinary commercial
and personal borrowers (ordinary credit quality), but are high quality borrowers. The improvement
comes from diversification of the bank s assets and capital which provides a buffer to absorb losses
without defaulting on its obligations. However, banknotes and deposits are generally unsecured; if the
bank gets into difficulty and pledges assets as security, to raise the funding it needs to continue to
operate, this puts the note holders and depositors in an economically subordinated position.

Analyzing the Poem, The Woodcarver, and How it Relates to...
I have entered into the field of education with full knowledge that it can be very challenging but it is
my venture to make it gratifying for both my students and myself. A crucial point of The Woodcarver
is the ability to focus. Once the woodcarver was finished with his work, all credits were taken from
him and given to higher powers. Similarly, once I am able to bring the task at hand to the central point
of my concentration, then I am bond to astonish many, including myself. I particularly gain wisdom
from the fact that The woodcarver guarded his spirit and did not expend it on trifles that were not to
the point. Burning up energy on issues that have nothing to do with the mission at hand is detrimental

my days were spent on seeking and finding interesting ways or strategies to reach him. I totally forgot
about my friends or even the principal s criticism, just like the woodcarver and put all my focus on
John, the learner. I started from basic and built on what he already knew. We used a lot of repetition

When he first came to me, If I were able to have one solitary thought, which was John, and not my

Identity In Walt Whitman s From Song Of Myself
Author Walt Whitman wrote a poem called From Song Of Myself , where he discusses all the things in

enjoyment in life. I celebrate myself, and sing myself... (488). This quote starts his poem in a joyful
mood, where the reader is ready to embark on his reasoning of why he celebrates himself. However,
there is a pattern where the tone goes from light and cheerful to being dull and dark. In one stanza he

The Dignity of Simplicity
The Dignity Of Simplicity
(The State Of Being True By Me)
I. Introduction
As Albert Einstein said, Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.
It s true; everything should be pared down as much as possible to fit our lives, but not beyond that
point or we have actually crossed the line into complication.
According to my friends, dignity is simplicity itself. You should just be yourself, the simplest you can
be. Simplicity is how you respect yourself from being simple. But for me when you talk about of
dignity ladies and gentlemen, we are also referring to purity. I believe that simplicity is at its best
when it is uninfluenced and that it speaks altruism and honesty. Simple in the sense that even mistakes

It works on the principle that twenty percent of what you do, accounts for eighty percent of the
importance you possess.
Simplicity is not just a noble character, but also an asset. It is a ladder to success. It makes one an
object of admiration which cannot be bought with money or lived easily. It is not as easy as it is
called. When you are without spot, you re not only a figure for admiration, but also a focus for
jealousy and hatred; and in no distant time, so many unwanted notes would be filed against you. You
need not be weary or worry because I have an assurance for you. In style, in character, in manner, in
all things, the supreme excellence is simplicity.
These, you ought to know; purity and simplicity are two wings with which man soars above the earth
and all temporary nature. It takes humility, reconvenes and willingness to do right no matter what it
takes. It is in big contrast with pretence. It saves you from the high cost of pretence, putting a front of
who you are not.
Elizabeth may have a quarrel with her friend; her simplicity would make her focus on solving the
problem rather than figuring out who is at fault. This is because the problem is her problem, not her
friend.
Another case in which simple living lifestyle is hard is when one gets short of ideas and will require
you to seek for advice. It is easy to ask from a superior and

Mississippi River Symbolism Essay
Symbolism, by definition is the use of symbols to represent ideas and qualities. Arguably one of the
most powerful literary techniques, symbolism aids to create a sense of understanding and awakens a
forthright emotion in the mind of the reader. The adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the novel I have
chosen to read the use of symbolism is made common by the author, Mark Twain. Though there is
more than one, the most critical and influential symbolism is the Mississippi river. Opposing the river
is the pendulum. In the short story, the pit and the pendulum, a horror fiction by Edgar Allen Poe, the
pendulum plays a significant part and is a key element of its plot. Contrasting the symbolisms of these

It is their best choice of transportation as it helps them be unobtrusive. The river also protects them as
there is a reward of $300 for Jim, the slave who used to work for the widow. Rivers are generally
considered to be placid and to have a sense of tranquility. These characteristics, in a figurative aspect
are similar to that of hope. In Greek mythology hope was the last thing that came out of Pandora s
Box, the one thing that would help mankind cope with all the evil in the world. Likewise the
Mississippi river is a symbol of hope that helps Huck and Jim on their onerous and bizarre adventure.
Huck is hoping he will escape his abusive father, the widow s efforts to sivilize him, but most
importantly he seeks an adventure made apparent with the title itself. For Jim it is hope, that one day
he will free his family from slavery that pushes him on. Both Jim and Huck knowingly or
unknowingly, depend on the river. The bottom line is that Twain uses the Mississippi river to
symbolize the great hope that resides in the main characters, thus elevating the reader s outlook

Throughout Medieval history, it was common for Christian nunneries and other religious dwellings to
have periods of both, prosperity and depletion. In many cases, external factors such as patronage and
invasions greatly influenced whether or not religious houses managed to stay afloat. At different
points in time, it was common for nunneries to get looted by intruders who in some recorded cases,
not only damaged property but went as far as defiling nuns. In response, it was also common for
religious women to resort to drastic measures in order to obstruct heinous acts against them.

The Lucifer Effect Is An Eye Opener For Me
Reading The Lucifer Effect was an eye opener for me. It got me thinking do we really know anyone
for that matter do we know ourselves? There are times in of our lives, have we been astonished to

defines the word: Evil consists in intentionally behaving in ways that harm, abuse, demean,
dehumanize or destroy innocent others or using one s authority and systemic power to encourage or
permit others to do so on your behalf (p. 5). As is evident from this definition, the study of evil is the
study of particular behaviors and motivations. As such, it could be argued that such a study is within
the legitimate province of psychology, although some may be disturbed by this. Zimbardo begins by
pointing out that the predominant paradigm in our culture for explaining human behavior is known as
the dispositional model, a model that focuses on inner individual personality traits and

far back as 1754 (King, 1997, para.4) and continues to be debated currently. This issue is viewed
differently by legal immigrants, illegal immigrants and American citizens.
R. D. King (1997) wrote that the issue of immigrants learning to speak English dates back to 1753
with regards to German immigrants. In his article, Should English Be the Law, King (1997) states, In
1753 Benjamin Franklin voiced his concern that German immigrants were not learning the English
language (para. 4). Even after all these years, the issue of immigrants learning and speaking English in

On the other hand, there are illegal immigrants who also come to America to make money and take
advantage of the freedom that America offers. Both legal and illegal immigrants are aware they would
have an easier time living in America if they would learn and speak English (Poisl, 2007). A large
number of illegal immigrants live daily with the possibility of prosecution and deportation and,
therefore, do not make the effort to learn to speak English (Poisl, 2007). These illegal immigrants
make little or no attempt to study and work towards becoming American citizens (Poisl, 2007).
According to a study done by New American Dimensions (Whitmore, 2008), seven in ten Hispanics
agree that immigrants in America should learn to speak English. Eighty percent of foreign born
immigrants agree they should learn to speak English if they are going to stay in the United States
(Whitmore, 2008). Six in ten Hispanics interviewed for this study agreed Hispanic immigrants should
follow the rules and come to the United States legally (Whitmore, 2008). There are emotional and
legal concerns surrounding whether immigrants should learn to speak English. Domenico Maceri
(2009), an award winning author and foreign language instructor at Allan Hancock College in Santa
Maria California, states I never met an immigrant in the United States who needed laws to be
reminded that English is necessary to succeed (par. 9).

Howard married Laura, his high school sweetheart Laura. While Howard was on the USS John F.

she could. Not too long after Howard has entered BUD/S, Laura finds out she is pregnant. They have a
son and name him Blake. Howard passed BUD/S and went on to sniper school. He was part of the
Green Team in sniper school. The teams have a draft procedure to pick new members, similar to the

Forensic Science Vs Criminal Justice Essay
When a college student must decide what he/she wants to do for a career, this can be the most difficult
decision the student will ever have to make about his/her life, because it is forever. The student has
now decided that is down to two choices: forensic science or criminal justice.
Forensic science is the application of sciences such as physics, chemistry, biology, computer science
and engineering to matters of law. Forensic science can help investigators understand how blood
spatter patterns occur (physics), learn the composition and source of evidence such as drugs and trace
materials (chemistry) or determine the identity of an unknown suspect (biology) ( Forensic Sciences )

criminal justice systems a crime has to be committed within their state boundaries, but if a crime is
committed on federal property or in multiple states, it is handle by the federal criminal justice system (
The Criminal Justice System ). In both state and federal criminal justice systems, there are five
different components that make up the criminal justice process, law enforcement, prosecution, defense
attorneys, courts, and corrections ( The Criminal Justice System ). Law enforcement takes reported
crimes and investigates the crime(s) committed, arrests the accused, gives testimony in court, and they
may conduct follow up investigations if it is needed ( The Criminal Justice System ). The prosecution

or they are assigned to the accused if the accused cannot afford one ( The Criminal Justice System ).
The court(s) are operated by judges, who oversee plea agreements, trails, and judges sentence the
accused ( The Criminal Justice System ). Corrections are the ones who keep an eye on the accused

Property as Feminist Dynamic in Welty s Delta Wedding
In our traditionally patriarchal society, primogeniture is the norm for inheritance of property. For
anyone other than a first born son to inherit the family estate is unusual. Even more unusual is
inheritance by women, who in many localities were forbidden from owning property. Thus, the pattern
of inheritance which Robbie notes in Delta Wedding is a significant departure from cultural norms.
Eudora Welty depicts a domestic politic which represents a feminist dynamic departing from, yet not
entirely escaping, patriarchy.
On the surface, women occupy a dominant role in the domestic politics of the novel. Robbie testifies
to several ways in which this is true. First, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite this clear delineation of an inverted power structure, the Fairchild women do not completely
escape patriarchy. The system is still not truly matriarchal, as the women subvert male dominance
without genuinely replacing it. It was as if the women had exacted the place, the land, for something
for something they had had to give (191). Presumably, this transaction represents an acceptance by the
women of a conditional patriarchy. However, for all their authority in the roost, the women do not
maintain control over their trump card: the land. After exacting the land from the men, they had let it
out of their hands (191). This voluntary subjugation undermines patriarchy without destroying it. By
ceding their power, they place themselves in a position to more legitimately (according to the
dominant culture) regain it. The Fairchild women knew what to ask of their men. Adoration, first but
not least. Then, small sacrifice by small sacrifice, the little pieces of the whole body! (191). At the
conclusion of this intricate game of domestic politics, the women are left in charge, but now at the
impetus of the men. The women, who in their initial power suffered the men s presence, are now
suffered to rule by the men who were their former guests. There is a caveat to this dynamic stated
among the litany of property transfers. Miss Rowena gave Shellmound to Mr. Battle before she ever

Pros And Cons Of Roman Government
The Roman government is very unique compared to other societies. The majority of societies were
either controlled by monarchy or democracy, however the Romans found a way to have both. The
Roman empire had both a senate and an emperor. The Senate was Democracy which was made up by
electing officials who although made laws couldn t finalize the law without approval from emperor.
The Emperor made up the Monarchy part having the final say in all important objectives. The Roman
Emperor was very much like our modern day president. He oversaw the senate often conducting the
meetings. Even though he conducted the Senate, he actually approved only what he deemed worth for
finalization. Some of the most famous leaders in history such as Julius Ceasar, Augsustus Ceasar, and
Nero were Emperors of Rome. The Senate and the Roman People (SPQR, or Senatus Populusque
Romanus), described the difference in class between the Senate and ordinary people. The Roman
People were all citizens who were not members of the Senate or the emperor. Power was vested in the

The Agenda Setting Theory On The Public Agenda
Abstract
The history of the agenda setting theory goes back over 50 years to when it was introduced in a 1972
edition of Public Opinion Quarterly by Drs. Maxwell McCombs and Donald Shaw. It was first
developed as a means of studying the 1968 American presidential election as it relates to the most
important issues determined by the news media and the most important issues determined by the 100
residents of Chapel Hill, North Carolina (McCombs Shaw, 1972). Still relevant today, the agenda
setting theory explains the influence of the media agenda on the public agenda. In a comprehensive
analysis of the agenda setting theory, agenda setting includes three levels or psychological processes:
basic agenda setting, attribute agenda setting and network agenda setting.
History of Agenda Setting Theory
The media s power in influencing public opinion has sparked the theory that we now know as agenda
setting. In 1922 this concept was first investigated by newspaper columnist Walter Lippman (Wahl
Jorgensen and Hanitzsch, 2009, pp.147). Since then Drs. Maxwell McCombs and Donald Shaw have
coined what we now know as the agenda setting theory. Their research of the 1968 presidential
election of the Republican nominee Richard Nixon and the Democratic nominee Hubert Humphrey
proved groundbreaking. Before the agenda setting theory, assumptions were that certain behaviors and
attitudes were results of the way information was

Domestic Violence pervasiveness amongst Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in
contemporary society is a menacing topic that is often neglected by the Australian government,
regardless of its severity. The definition of Domestic violence amongst Indigenous Australians and its
causes differ from the general understanding the Australians have of the term. This report will
examine the literature of domestic violence, elaborate on statistic and findings, provide perspectives
on stakeholders, support the hypothesis and offer recommendations.

Other evidence, such as Appendix 2, indicates that domestic violence rates are higher in regional, rural
and remote areas. An area such Aurukun, located in North Western Queensland (Cape York), is an
Indigenous community which has experienced all forms of violence. Similarly, Alice Springs
communities and other remote communities in the Northern Territory are also susceptible to domestic
violence.
The causes of domestic violence amongst Indigenous Australians is not attributable to Aboriginal
culture. Instead, the patterns of current domestic violence originate from the violent dispossession of
the land between the Europeans settlers and Indigenous Australians.
Other influences of domestic violence are issues such as Childhood experience of violence and abuse,
High incarceration rates, Financial problems, Unemployment, Poor health, Lack of education, Racism

that the deletion of the muscle promoter reduced the production of dystrophin, but not to the extreme
amount that causes Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. (12) The severity does vary from allele to allele.
There are three different phenotypes that these alleles can cause. The most severe of these phenotypes

Society can be cruel; and Alice could tell you all about it personally. In Go Ask Alice by Beatrice
Sparks, a 15 year old girl finds herself struggling within the battle against society and their brutal
ideals. All Alice wanted was a happy life but this can be hard to achieve within the unforgiving
surroundings in the novel which can also be seen in society today. Many connections can be made to
the book and real life through Alice s experiences and the actions of those around her. Throughout the

adults respond to Alice s behavior and situation, and how the book ends. The first place that the book

Term Paperm on Personal Legend
THE ALCHEMIST By Paulo Coelho New York: Harper Collins Publishers, 1993 ISBN # 0 06 250218
2 (paper) 174 pages Comments by Bob Corbett November 2009 This is a lovely book, tender but
profound. It is about the importance of seeking one s own meaning of life and spending one s life
fulfilling it. Coelho calls it seeking one s Personal Legend. It reminds me very much of what the
Existentialists would have called authenticity. However, unlike the Existentialists who write rather
darkly about this process of seeking one s own meaning system, Coelho s young shepherd boy is
seeking his Personal Legend in something much like a fairly tale. However, Coelho at least gives us a
process and set of obstacles we might well expect, and his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coelho writes a beautiful and moving legend of the boy s journey and enlightenment. I did find the
title rather odd. There is an alchemist in the novel whom the shepherd boy meets and who, indeed,
helps him in many ways and actually sort of makes the shepherd boy into an alchemist himself. But
the use of the definite article the in the title seems a bit confusing. It would seem, on Coelho s account,
that anyone who actually achieves his or her Personal Legend becomes an alchemist, changing the
baser life we have from birth into the gold of our own Personal Success. But this is a journey upon
which any person may embark. On the other hand Coelho seems right to me in bringing in the
influential alchemist whom the boy meets in the north African desert. I think most of us who have
seriously undertaken this journey meet people along the way who teach us and inspire us toward this
mysterious and even occult route toward our Personal Legend. I m 70 now and still on my journey,
and like the boy, have arrived at various stages I once was almost sure were arrival points, only to
discover another stage of enlightenment along the way. Everyone who is such a seeker should read
this optimistic book of one who seems to have succeeded in the process of turning a potentially base
life into a golden achievement, a true alchemist s

Latin America Analysis
As children grow up they lose creativity due to being impacted by the real world. Just as the children
growing up mourn losing creativity, Latin American people mourn losing happiness in their country.
The regions in Latin America were controlled by totalitarian governments and had to deal with many
basic rights taken away from them. This caused a lot of social realism in writing, which was expressed
through Latin American writers. Social realism was described through dark tones, atmosphere and
allegories to help readers understand how the authors felt during this time in their country. Authors
used dark tones to make readers feel sympathy for them and their situations through hauntingly dark
statements. Clarice Lispector uses atmosphere ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He expressed his poetic rebellion against the corrupt government by symbolizing situations for real
events going on. Mythology is one way he helped relate the prevalence of the situation to help readers
understand how empty/dead he feels about his country. I tell myself in the manner of Epictetus who is
going to die? (344). Paz explains how he is represented by Epiteicus, a greek philosopher who wanted
peace where death was accepted. Paz uses biblical references to show how his culture influenced the
understanding of death to relate to the reader. He uses an allegory between Adam, the first man to live
and die, to him ending it which correlates to the end of Mexico. On our shadowy Earth each man is
Adam: with him the world begins, with him it ends (344). As the world ends with Adam, Mexico will
end with the corrupt government it started with. He also uses a reference to an epic poem which has a
very dark underlying meaning that the entire country faces. By referencing old literature he connects
to everyone and shows how these problems have been repeated throughout history and cannot be
ignored. The sorrow of Gilgamesh when he returned from the land without twilight is my sorrow
(344). Gilgamesh was filled with sorrow since he realized no man can escape death, just as Paz knows
his country is in too deep so it will end up dying. Octavio Paz used powerful allegories to help readers

Uneducated or scary , society is quick to judge. There is always a lot of controversy when it comes to

The Japanese War Of Japan
Introduction: The Russo Japanese War was important for propelling Japan forward to becoming a very
powerful country in the world. Japan did win the war, but it was a difficult was for both countries
involved. It was a war fought for expansion, power, and economic gain.
Background Information: Japan was a rising power. It was a country getting more powerful mainly
because of the Meiji restoration, which lasted from 1868 to 1912. It had recently won a war against
China that lasted from 1894 1895. This war is called the Sino Japanese war, and it is the turning point
of Japan emerging as a powerful country in the world. This war was fought over who got to control
Korea, and Japan wanted Korea because of potential trade, as well as all of their natural resources.
Japan received its first constitution that was like the ones in Europe in 1889. Japan built their first
railroad line between Yokohama and Tokyo in 1972, and this really shows how much Japan was
modernizing before the Russo Japanese war. Russia was experiencing a lot of tumult before the Russo
Japanese war. A large political group, The Social Democratic Labor Party, split into two sides in 1903,
one called the Bolsheviks and the other the mensheviks. They had the Crimean war in 1853 to 1857,
and the Russo Turkish war from 1877 to 1878. They also experienced a rapid increase in industrialism
after they stopped the practice of serfdom in 1861. This increase in industrialism led to a big working

  • 2. Posada Mexico celebrates christmas from Dec. 12th to Jan. 6th. From the 16th to christmas eve some of the children perform a reenactment called the Posada . If you didn t know Posada is Spanish for Lodging or Inn. They have nine Posadas. When they get into the Posadas they decorate with moss, evergreens, and paper lanterns. Each Posada children get a board and candles. They have them to hold painted figures of Mary and Joseph riding on a donkey. They go down the streets and sing songs to each home. The song they sing when they go to the houses is about mary and joseph asking for a room in the Posada. The children are told that there is now room so they must go away. Soon after they are told there is room so they are welcomed in. Once they enter they say prayers and celebrate by having a party with food, games and fireworks. Each night a different house holds the Posada party. On the last night of Posadas there is a whole bunch shepherds on a board. When the posada is done there is a figure of baby jesus in a manger on the board and then there is a church service. After the church ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A piñata is a decorated clay or papier mâché jar filled with sweets and hung from the ceiling or tree branch. The piñata is often decorated like a ball with seven peaks around it. Then the children rush to pick up as many sweets as they can! As well as the posada s, another type of Christmas play known as Pastorelas (The Shepherds). • 3. How Did Emily Dickinson Influence Her Work Emily Dickinson is currently considered one of the most famous American authors, despite the fact that her work was not well known in her own day. Emily was notable to American Literature, and she sealed the road for several of today s poets. She was a creative poet, determined writer, and an extreme introvert who never gave up. Emily Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830 and passed away at age 55 on May 15, 1886. ( Emily Famous). Having grown up in poverty, it influenced her poems greatly. Emily Dickinson s father, Edward Dickinson, was a lawyer, a member of Congress, and the treasurer of Amherst College ( Emily Encyclopedia). Dickinson s mother, Emily Norcross Dickinson was from Monson ( Emily Famous). Dickinson was the middle child ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is very popular because she uses this metaphor through a bird, showing that even in the hard times we should still have hope ( Emily Study). Theres many reasons why this poem is so popular, one being the way she puts commas around the word hope (O Connor). Hope is the Thing with Feathers is also a very positive poem, and many people feel as if it speaks right to the heart (O Connor). There is a lot of reviews saying that it just has a pleasant type of message (O Connor). Many people also find it a very good description of hope, and many people love it because they feel as if they can relate to it (O Connor). This poem was published in 1891 in the 2nd collection of Dickinson s work, Poems by Emily Dickinson, second series ( Hope Encyclopedia). My opinion of Hope is the Thing with Feathers would have to be that she was very clear with her message. Not only do I feel that I can relate to it, I feel as if many other people can relate to it. That poems main point is about hope and how you should believe in it whenever things are not looking up for you, and I think that is very true. Many times people get discouraged and think that there is nothing left but there is, and it is hope. I highly agree with Dickinson in her poem Hope is the Thing with Feathers . Other people who have written reviews on the poem say that it gives them chills, and that they adored this poem ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Does Art Spiegelman Use Animals In Maus Maus is successful by the special way of describing a historical tragedy, the whole story is written in graphic memoir. Art Spiegelman uses animals to represent each category of character in the story, and each animal has a certain meaning. He replaces cats as Nazis, pig as Polish, dog as Americans, and mouse, just like the title of the story, Jews. We associate with Tom and Jerry which is cats chasing mouse when we think of mice. Nazi, which is cats, treat Jews like hunting mice. A mouse, which have to spend whole their life to escape from cats to avoid the destiny of being a part of the food chain and complete the mission of reproduction. Likewise, the Jews are not considered human, Nazis treat them a kind of animal, it was a miserable period for Jews to live. According to Adolf Hitler s quote in the beginning of Maus, The Jews are undoubtedly a race, but they are not human. Art Spiegelman uses this conception to create mouse as the main character in the story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Analysis Of The Star Spangled Banner Flag of our Fathers The Star Spangled Banner is the National Anthem of the United States of America. It is a very important song that represents a free country where anything is possible. Recently the National Anthem has been the platform for protesting police brutality against African Americans. The protests have mostly been done during professional football games when players take a knee or sit on the bench when the Anthem is being played. Obviously, this has caused a controversy as people find it very disrespectful for being the way to protest. People are upset because they think that the National Anthem has nothing to do with police brutality and by taking a knee they are disrespecting the people who have fought to protect this country. The importance of standing for the American National Anthem comes from respect for the country and those who defend it, pride to be in a free country and unity of all those protected in a free America. There are many possible solutions such as, players to donating their time to youth centers of respecting police and working with the police to help them understand the African American culture better but also the police teaching how important and dangerous their job is. According to the 36 US Code 301 National Anthem, it does not break any law to not stand for the National Anthem. The code contains a list of rules that states: When the National Anthem is being played such as, (A) individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until the last note; (2) when the flag is not displayed, all present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed. The key word is should , so if you don t want to stand for the National Anthem you don t have too. Some people believe that doesn t matter, as long as they are able to stand they should to show respect during the National Anthem. There are people who have fought and died for the right to live in the greatest country in the world. If they don t stand for their country one that they should be proud to call home, if nothing else you should at least stand for those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. I understand that the players ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It started off not being wanted because it worshiped idols and that was frowned upon in the early days. Although, as time went on and Christians started realizing the benefits that art had at conveying their beliefs. The earliest Christian art occurred in the catacombs, which were underground tombs under the city and they often depicted biblical symbols like Noah s ark. Before the spike happened, early Christians didn t have any designated places to worship and as soon as it became more accepted that changed. Early Christian churches often mimicked roman work because it was so successful. An example of this was Old St. Peter. Architecture and art weren t the only thing early Christians used to push Christianity into the mainstream, music also played a role in the development Christianity. • 8. The War Of Afghanistan And Afghanistan The War in Afghanistan Joseph Kemna HIST 102 American History since 1877 American Military University Dr. Lilia Anand 25 January, 2015 The War in Afghanistan Most people think of the War in Afghanistan as a war that the United States have been fighting over the last decade. But the truth is that Afghanistan has been a country familiar with war for over the last 35 years. Afghanistan became an independent nation in 1921 and The United States formally recognized Afghanistan as a county in 1934.(1) The first war involving the independent country of Afghanistan was against the Soviet Union when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan in 1979. The war between the Soviet Union and Afghanistan lasted a little over 10 years and set the conditions for a future war between Taliban in Afghanistan and the United States. Latter the United States declared war in Afghanistan after the terrorist attack on the United State on September 11th, 2001. The war was not against the country, but against the Taliban military and insurgents residing in the country. This war is still ongoing today, which makes the Afghanistan War the longest war ever fought by the United States of America. In 1973 Price Mohammed Daud overthrew King Zahir Shah and claimed himself as the President of Afghanistan. (2) This was the beginning of the problems in Afghanistan and for its people. Qualitative content analysis is defined as: a research method for the subjective interpretation of the content of text data through the systematic classification process of coding and identifying themes or patterns (Hsieh Shannon, 2005, p.1278). This means that the data input is evaluated to search for patterns that extend across the data and coded into categories in order to develop data interpretations (Vaismoradi, Turunen, Bondas, 2013). For this purpose ATLAS.ti was used to analyse the qualitative data findings. Codes were first prepared in accordance with the theoretical framework (for this framework see Appendix B) (Braun Clarke, 2006). ATLAS.ti was used for assigning open codes as well as to create coding memos. Codes and themes were analysed and related to theory formulation (see Appendix C for the code book that was used in ATLAS.ti) (for a review and practical guide to using qualitative data analysis see Hwang, 2008). For each code, an output was created. This output consists of a file in which all the quotations of a certain code to be put one after the other, these are the passages that are encoded from all the transcripts. This output file then gives a quick ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Consciousness and Philosophers of the Mind Consciousness and Philosophers of Mind Consciousness is a word used by philosophers, to signify that immediate knowledge which we have of our present thoughts and purposes, and, in general of all the operations of our mind... [and] if I am asked to prove that I cannot be deceived by consciousness to prove that it is not a fallacious sense I can find no proof... (Thomas Reid, referenced by Lehrer, 2008). Introduction There are many features of consciousness that philosophers of the mind discuss and debate. Two are found within the philosophy of Russ McBride; they are: a) ...a conscious creature or subject ; and b) a conscious mental state (Manson, 2011, 100). Another philosophy professor, Michael Antony, sees two features that are commonly debated and dissected by scholars in and out of the field of philosophy. Those features are the conscious state and the conscious creature both of which will be further developed in this paper. Are mental states always clearly conscious states ? Or are they clearly not conscious? Antony argues that it is impossible to accept that there could be any borderline cases or fuzzy boundaries for concepts of consciousness (Antony, 2008). Antony s and other approaches to consciousness are reviewed and critiqued in this paper. The Literature on Consciousness The concept of consciousness is ambiguous and polysemic (having more than one meaning), according to professor Neil Manson (King s College in London). • 11. The Four Noble Truths In Buddhism The Four Noble Truths are the four central beliefs containing the essence of Buddhist teachings. Buddhism is a major global religion with a complex history and system of beliefs. What is suffering? Suffering is, the state of undergoing pain, distress, or hardship. Suffering exists; it has a cause, but it also has an end; and it has a cause which brings about its end. The notion of suffering is not intended to convey a negative world view, but instead a perspective that deals with the world as it is, and attempts to rectify it. The four noble truths are a plan for dealing with the suffering humanity faces, which is suffering of a physical kind, or of a mental nature. These four noble truths consist of the truth of suffering, the truth of the cause of suffering, the truth of the end of suffering, and the truth of the path of that leads to the end of suffering. Buddha had learned that all people have one thing in common: if they think about their own life, or look at the world around them, they will see that life is full of suffering. The first noble truth is the truth of suffering, which is also called Dukkha. Buddha had said that suffering may be physical or mental. Suffering includes when someone is suffering of birth, old age, sickness, and death are all unavoidable, it is something that comes with life. Physical suffering can come in many forms, but it is part of us as human to endure the suffering. As we become older all of us find that life can become more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Heteronormativity Analysis Before reading this week s readings, I understood heteronormativity as the idea that being heterosexual is normal and how many believe that is the only way to live even if you are not heterosexual. I realized how sexuality is much more complicated than I originally thought. Sexuality is not just one dimensional but there are so many parts to it that people are not aware of. Being a heterosexual woman, I am stuck between an advantaged group and a disadvantaged group. I am privileged for being heterosexual in the sense that I will never have to deal with the fear of someone finding out who I love or expressing that love. According to my friends, dignity is simplicity itself. You should just be yourself, the simplest you can be. Simplicity is how you respect yourself from being simple. When you are without spot, you re not only a figure for admiration, but also a focus for jealousy and hatred; and in no distant time, so many unwanted notes would be filed against you. Despite this clear delineation of an inverted power structure, the Fairchild women do not completely escape patriarchy. The system is still not truly matriarchal, as the women subvert male dominance without genuinely replacing it. It was as if the women had exacted the place, the land, for something for something they had had to give (191). Presumably, this transaction represents an acceptance by the women of a conditional patriarchy. However, for all their authority in the roost, the women do not maintain control over their trump card: the land. After exacting the land from the men, they had let it out of their hands (191). This voluntary subjugation undermines patriarchy without destroying it. By ceding their power, they place themselves in a position to more legitimately (according to the dominant culture) regain it. The Fairchild women knew what to ask of their men. Adoration, first but not least. Then, small sacrifice by small sacrifice, the little pieces of the whole body! (191). The Agenda Setting Theory On The Public Agenda Abstract The history of the agenda setting theory goes back over 50 years to when it was introduced in a 1972 edition of Public Opinion Quarterly by Drs. It was first developed as a means of studying the 1968 American presidential election as it relates to the most important issues determined by the news media and the most important issues determined by the 100 residents of Chapel Hill, North Carolina (McCombs Shaw, 1972). In fact, you saved my sanity a hundred, thousand, million times. But I think when a person gets older she should be able to discuss her problems and thoughts with other people (Sparks 213). This passage also supports the idea of the book connecting to society as Alice has found a way to feel better about life. This also occurs within life for many people as we are constantly searching for a way for life to be better and more comfortable for ourselves and others. • 30. Term Paperm on Personal Legend THE ALCHEMIST By Paulo Coelho New York: Harper Collins Publishers, 1993 ISBN # 0 06 250218 2 (paper) 174 pages Comments by Bob Corbett November 2009 This is a lovely book, tender but profound. It is about the importance of seeking one s own meaning of life and spending one s life fulfilling it. Coelho calls it seeking one s Personal Legend. It reminds me very much of what the Existentialists would have called authenticity. However, unlike the Existentialists who write rather darkly about this process of seeking one s own meaning system, Coelho s young shepherd boy is seeking his Personal Legend in something much like a fairly tale. However, Coelho at least gives us a process and set of obstacles we might well expect, and his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Coelho writes a beautiful and moving legend of the boy s journey and enlightenment. I did find the title rather odd. There is an alchemist in the novel whom the shepherd boy meets and who, indeed, helps him in many ways and actually sort of makes the shepherd boy into an alchemist himself. But the use of the definite article the in the title seems a bit confusing. It would seem, on Coelho s account, that anyone who actually achieves his or her Personal Legend becomes an alchemist, changing the baser life we have from birth into the gold of our own Personal Success. But this is a journey upon which any person may embark. On the other hand Coelho seems right to me in bringing in the influential alchemist whom the boy meets in the north African desert. I think most of us who have seriously undertaken this journey meet people along the way who teach us and inspire us toward this mysterious and even occult route toward our Personal Legend. I m 70 now and still on my journey, and like the boy, have arrived at various stages I once was almost sure were arrival points, only to discover another stage of enlightenment along the way. Everyone who is such a seeker should read this optimistic book of one who seems to have succeeded in the process of turning a potentially base life into a golden achievement, a true alchemist s ... Introduction {NEED ISA BACKGROUND/MISSION CONTENT} ISA is one element within an active area of research in the design and development of tools to improve the situational awareness of military commanders involved in battlefield operations. Evaluating the effectiveness of tools proposed for introduction into the battlespace requires the use of realistic command tasks and an appropriate research methodology that controls for task difficulty. Typical evaluations, if they occur at all, frequently do not employ proper experimental (or quasi experimental) methodology and address only qualitative elements of evaluation (e.g. user ratings). Objective The objectives of this report are to: Present possible research methodologies and designs that may be applied to support ongoing analysis and evaluation of ISA tools and products. Present concepts and describe factors to be considered in developing a useful set of task difficulty considerations to support evaluation and testing of ISA tools. Propose an initial set of behavioral, task based performance measures that are focused on specific areas of performance that ISA is designed to impact. 3. Research Methodology 3.1 Overview Concerns about research methodology relate to the constraints of testing ISA tools and products in real world settings. It is challenging to design and carry out a controlled experiment with rigorous experimental and control groups. Therefore, evaluation validity is put at risk by factors such as: Are selected tasks representative of battlefield command activities in general? Can task difficulty be effectively taken into account or controlled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Latin America Analysis As children grow up they lose creativity due to being impacted by the real world. Just as the children growing up mourn losing creativity, Latin American people mourn losing happiness in their country. The regions in Latin America were controlled by totalitarian governments and had to deal with many basic rights taken away from them. This caused a lot of social realism in writing, which was expressed through Latin American writers. Social realism was described through dark tones, atmosphere and allegories to help readers understand how the authors felt during this time in their country. Authors used dark tones to make readers feel sympathy for them and their situations through hauntingly dark statements. Clarice Lispector uses atmosphere ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He expressed his poetic rebellion against the corrupt government by symbolizing situations for real events going on. Mythology is one way he helped relate the prevalence of the situation to help readers understand how empty/dead he feels about his country. I tell myself in the manner of Epictetus who is going to die? (344). Paz explains how he is represented by Epiteicus, a greek philosopher who wanted peace where death was accepted. Paz uses biblical references to show how his culture influenced the understanding of death to relate to the reader. He uses an allegory between Adam, the first man to live and die, to him ending it which correlates to the end of Mexico. On our shadowy Earth each man is Adam: with him the world begins, with him it ends (344). As the world ends with Adam, Mexico will end with the corrupt government it started with. He also uses a reference to an epic poem which has a very dark underlying meaning that the entire country faces. By referencing old literature he connects to everyone and shows how these problems have been repeated throughout history and cannot be ignored. The sorrow of Gilgamesh when he returned from the land without twilight is my sorrow (344). Gilgamesh was filled with sorrow since he realized no man can escape death, just as Paz knows his country is in too deep so it will end up dying. Octavio Paz used powerful allegories to help readers understand how Mexico was dying and almost completely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Trappie Research Paper Crappie like most panfish consume many different food sources including baitfish, zooplankton, insects, crustaceans and even the fry of their predators. A productive way of fishing crappie is to nymph. I prefer using a non bead head Prince Nymph to allow for the nymph to sink slowly. You may also swap out the Prince Nymph for any bead head or non bead head variation of a Mayfly Nymph, Hares Ear Nymph or mix it up and see what works in your area. Crappie will feed up or out so you will need to use a strike indicator when nymphing for crappie. If you are unsure of the water depth use an indicator which can be quickly adjusted. A Corkie, Thingamabobber or Airlock indicator can be easily moved up and down the leader to adjust for depth. Try tying your nymph as a dropper under a foam fly. The foam fly will work as a strike indicator and will double your chances of catching a crappie. Larger foam flies can support heavier nymphs, try to stick to something like a Chernobyl Ant, grass hopper or a mall to mid size popper. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The very first thoughts that pop up tend to be Uneducated or scary , society is quick to judge. There is always a lot of controversy when it comes to body modifications. Most people instantly have an opinion of them; they either love them or hate them. What is not realized is the fact that there is a ton of time and effort put into the design and or locations of the tattoo/body piercing. People get body modifications as a way of self expression and being set free from their boring lives. Unfortunately, in the business world, most executives do not believe there is such a thing as an acceptable body modification and see them as a sign of rebellion. • 35. The Japanese War Of Japan Introduction: The Russo Japanese War was important for propelling Japan forward to becoming a very powerful country in the world. Japan did win the war, but it was a difficult was for both countries involved. It was a war fought for expansion, power, and economic gain. Background Information: Japan was a rising power. It was a country getting more powerful mainly because of the Meiji restoration, which lasted from 1868 to 1912. It had recently won a war against China that lasted from 1894 1895. This war is called the Sino Japanese war, and it is the turning point of Japan emerging as a powerful country in the world. This war was fought over who got to control Korea, and Japan wanted Korea because of potential trade, as well as all of their natural resources. Japan received its first constitution that was like the ones in Europe in 1889. Japan built their first railroad line between Yokohama and Tokyo in 1972, and this really shows how much Japan was modernizing before the Russo Japanese war. Russia was experiencing a lot of tumult before the Russo Japanese war. A large political group, The Social Democratic Labor Party, split into two sides in 1903, one called the Bolsheviks and the other the mensheviks. They had the Crimean war in 1853 to 1857, and the Russo Turkish war from 1877 to 1878. They also experienced a rapid increase in industrialism after they stopped the practice of serfdom in 1861.
