Theories About The Etruscans
The Etruscans were a people steeped in mystery that thrived in Tuscany, most of the information we
have about the Etruscans are from indirect sources, either from Roman historians, the same Roman
historians that helped erase most of Etruscan culture, or Ancient Greek historians who some believe
didn t culturally grasp the different cultural values of their society. There is no concrete theory of
where the Etruscans originated but they lived between the 7th and 3rd centuries BC. An mtDNA study
completed in 2013 stated that the Etruscans were most likely an indigenous population. Another study
completed six years earlier in 2007, hypothesized that they showed no similarities genetically to
specimens from the near east, which vaguely could disprove one of the two most popular theories
about the Etruscans heritage. Regarding the Etruscans there are two theories that hint towards who
they were, and where they came from. The most accepted theory on their origin essentially states that
the Etruscans were native to Italy and had been there for a considerable ... Show more content on

Numerous things point towards this theory being correct. Firstly, the originality of the Etruscan
language and manner of living were so great that historians hypothesize that they were so different
than languages and manners of living that they couldn t have hailed from a different culture. Bonfante,
a historian, stated in 2002 as follows ...the history of the Etruscan people extends ... from c. 1200 to c.
100 BC. Many sites of the chief Etruscan cities of historical times were continuously occupied from
the Iron Age Villanovan period on. Much confusion would have been avoided if archaeologists had
used the name Proto Etruscan .... For in fact the people ... did not appear suddenly. Nor did they
suddenly start to speak Etruscan. Another elaboration of the theory states that the Etruscans formed in

D. Ruxton s Non-Visual Hypothesis
One of the essential elements of life for living organisms is survival, which in most cases, requires the
consumption of other organisms, and therefore is where separating living organisms into two
categories: predator and prey. But with survival there comes a time where the organism must avoid
death by factors of life. The influence of camouflage on the predation rate has given the organism that
is preyed apound a chance to experience a longer life span. According to G.D. Ruxton in Non visual
crypsis: a review of the empirical evidence for camouflage to senses other than vision, organisms use
the ability to camouflage to make themselves seem invisible or difficult to see to their prey.
Camouflage varies from changes in the color of the body, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The study occurred at Morrell Creek in the United States Northern Rockies, a temperate boreal
coniferous forest, and the animal of interest was wild snowshoe hares. Approximately 148 radio
collared hares were observed over the course of two years beginning in 2010 and ending in 2012. Due
to the low annual survival rate of the hares, only seven hares survived, therefore, limiting the
collection of data needed to support their hypothesis. Also, because of incomplete detection and
temporary emigration of radiocolllared animals, Mill and his companions were not able to determine
spring or fall moth for the seven surviving hares. However,it was discovered that alterations in the
spring color change rate from white to brown molt occurred compared to the color change in the fall
where it was absent in both the beginning date and rate from brown to white molt. Futhmore, the
annual average duration of snowpack will decrease between the ranges of 29 35 in the midcentury and
40 69 close to the end of the century. Also, if no changes occur in the phenotype of coat color, then by
the end of the century, the decreased snow duration will cause an increase in the mismatching of hares
when snow is absence (Mills et al

The Angel Of Death Research Paper
The Angel of Death
The Nazi party rose to power in 1933 under the leadership of Adolf Hitler, and would soon unleash a
reign of terror and death upon Europe. However, Hitler was not directly responsible for all of the
terror to ensue; there were many Nazi followers and soldiers who committed unspeakable crimes of
war and other atrocious acts even as far as crimes against humanity. One such man was Dr. Josef
Mengele.
Mengele was born March 16th, 1911 in Günzburg, Germany. He received his Ph. D. in physical
anthropology in 1935, when he was 24 from the University of Munich. A few years later, in 1937 he
was the assistant to Dr. Otmar von Vercheur who was famous for his research on twins. In 1945,
Mengele fled Germany. He was caught by US soldiers who later released him, not realizing who
exactly he was. Mengele was never found alive again. It was said that after he escaped, he befriended
a Nazi supporter in Brazil named Wolfgang Gerhard, who hid Mengele for years and even ... Show

It is hard to imagine someone able to do such horrible things to a person and be able to calmly walk
them to their deaths as if it was nothing. Like the Nazi system Mengele was able to let people believe
in a false sense of security, thinking they had the system, and Mengele s intentions figured out while
they were unknowingly being led to their demise.
Josef Mengele was a revered scholar and one of the most infamous members of the Nazi party known
of today, especially through the crimes against humanity he committed from his work with
experimentation and torture on twins and many others. In most pictures found of Mengele he is
showing off his gap toothed smile, but behind that smile is the terrible Angel of

Development Of Early Childhood And Adolescent Patients
Throughout life, we as humans are continually developing and our cognitive, physical and behavioural
conditions may change as we go through different stages of our life. As future Oral Health Therapists,
this is especially important to recognize as our career serves people of all ages and it is important to be
able to understand the characteristics and stages of human development in order to practice
effectively. This report aims to aid in the management of early childhood and adolescent patients
through the explanation of their cognitive, behavioural/social and physical development through the
use of (INSERT THEORISTS HERE) theories. This will be done in two main parts, which will both
include the cognitive, behavioural and physical changes of both a five year old patient and a fifteen
year old patient. It will also give rise to some important milestones for these age groups and why this
can have an impact on patients opinions.... And behaviours exhibited in a clinical condition and their
general oral health. Part I Early childhood ranges from the ages of two to six years and this age range
tend to hold a number of generalised physical, cognitive and socio emotional developmental
milestones. It is important for a clinician to understand developmental stages of children and
communicate effectively with children within this specific age range to promote positive and
successful appointments. Physical Development During the early childhood phase there is a rapid

Antimicrobial Resistance To Antibiotic Resistance
Antibiotic resistance is a type resistance of bacterial infection to the drug prescribed by doctors to
individuals who are infected. Antibodies that are given to a person may not be enough to cure a
bacterial infection due to superbugs which is a pathogen resistant to many different types of
antibodies. Some of the reasons why this exists is due to common misuse of people in antibiotics. For
instance, not finishing up what the doctors prescribe after feeling better and saving for later for future
use is not a good practice. This actually leaves the hearty bacteria as opposed to killing only the mild
or medium ones. I strongly believe that people are responsible why the superbugs exist. This is is a
huge problem in the society because superbugs are resistance to antibiotic. is created and will no
longer be effective. One article that support that hypothesis is, Antimicrobial resistance: global report

The issue of anti microbial resistance can be reduced just by coordinated endeavors of all individuals
from society for guaranteeing the effectiveness of antibiotics. If everyone is educated and stop using
prescription antibiotics for common cold, headache, or other viruses lessen people who misuses such
antibiotics. Also, hospitals should be cautious in prescribing antibiotics if unnecessary. For instance, at
Kaiser Hospital where I take my children, doctors advise that common cold or flu viruses cannot be

Optic Brain Formation
Visual processing for humans is split up into two different channels called the dorsal and ventral
streams (or pathways). Before information is sent to one stream or the other it must be sent through a
series of structures, which begins in the retina. When light enters the eye and hits the photoreceptors
(rods and cones) located in the retina, the retinal ganglion cells are activated. The retinal ganglion cells
are organized in the retina and then are sent to the optic nerve, which is located at the back of the eye.
The optic nerve transports the signals from the retinal ganglion cells to the lateral geniculate nucleus
(also abbreviated as the LGN). The thalamus is the structure that houses the lateral geniculate nucleus.
The primary function ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

When the primary visual cortex receives signals from the magnocellular layers in the LGN, it sends it

The Diversity Found in Christianity in Its First Three...
The Diversity Found in Christianity in Its First Three Centuries
For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many,
are one body, so it is with Christ. (1Cor 12: 12 13)
The Christian religion is said to be a  diverse phenomenon .[1] This is because there is so much
diversity existing in it although it claims to be a religion with unity based at the very core of its
teachings.
According to the Oxford English dictionary, Christianity is the religion based on the person and
teachings of Jesus Christ. [2]

The Gnostics were dualists and they claimed there must be two Gods: a God of the material world in
which we live in now, and a Supreme, remote and unknowable Divine Being. The God of the material
world was called a  Demiurge (a term once used by Plato) or  Creator [7]. The Demiurge God
was the immediate source of creation and ruled the world we lived in. This God was the God of the
Jews. Valentius, a Gnostic theologian, further claimed that the emergence of the Demiurge was due to
the fall of Sophia the last of the three  aeons . The spiritual world or  pleroma is compromised
of 30  aeons emanated by the Primal Ground of Being. Sophia was one of these  aeons .[8]
The Gnostics argued that the God of the Jews either did not know about the Supreme Being or if he
did know, he concealed the identity. The Gnostics went on to argue that Jesus Christ came as a
messenger of the Supreme Being to bring  gnosis . As he was Divine, he temporarily inhabited a
human body which was that of Jesus. He did not die and he was not resurrected. They were just Â
play acting (the doctrine known as  docetism )[9]
Like the Gnostics, a Christian thinker called Marcion was determined to pull Christianity away from
its Jewish roots. He maintained, like the Gnostics, that the God of the Old

Garmin is a global supplier of Global Positioning Systems. The company targets primarily the
aviation, maritime and fitness industry. Garmin is the current leader in the GPS market boasting the
highest equity and lowest debt in the industry. For Garmin to merge with another company, it would
have to provide significant long term synergy or allow expansion into a new market entirely. A merger
between Garmin and Trimble Navigation would benefit both companies and their shareholders.

If Garmin watched this company closely it could provide an opportunity to gain a significant portion
of the overseas Personal Navigation Device (PND) market. This is currently the only sector Trimble
beats Garmin at a 34% to 47% ratio, and has for the past seven years. This merger would also require
detailed consideration as it would require international equities to be merged along with significant
human and financial resources.
Conclusion
Garmin stands to gain from a merger with Trimble. The merger would allow Garmin to acquire a
significant portion of the European personal navigation device market share at minimal cost. Garmin
has the cash resources to execute the acquisition and while Trimble s finances are in decline for the
near term they are expected to remain a solid long term investment. The acquisition would result in an
approximate $13 dollar increase in Garmin s stock price, and increase long term equities. Other
companies Garmin should consider are KVL Technologies for its opportunity to get ahead of maritime
mobile communications technologies, and Roper Industries, which would enable expansion into a new
market segment that hedges future losses in the PND market.

Women s Role In Terrorism
A large part of the literature review thus concentrated on the definition and characteristics of modern
terrorism. However, since terrorist group s present singularity and uniqueness in their characteristics,
is it even possible to reach consensus on the definition and the meaning of the word? Globalization
has affected the interpretation of the word terrorism by changing the face of these organizations.
Quantitatively and qualitatively, changes occurred in terrorist organizations over the last decades, and
one of them is the increasing involvement of women in their structures. From contextual pressure to
individual motivations, the increase of female involved in terrorist organizations and activities result
from a conjunction of several interrelated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historically, women s role has been more pronounced in left wing groups. While women roles in left
wing groups tend to be equal with male members, left wing groups are also more likely to act
domestically. In Inside Terrorism Bruce Hoffman explains that terrorist activities of ethno separatist
groups, both then and now, tend to be less international in scope . In early modern terrorism, the
involvement of women is usually referred as female militancy. There was a strong presence of women
in several of the most active left wing terrorist groups. Cindy D. Ness suggests that women have
tended to be more active as leaders and members of groups to overturn traditional values rather than to
restore the old ones. The very nature of left wing groups is more disposed to justify and advocate in
favor of women assuming leadership and operational positions. Non traditional roles and the overturn
of traditional societies is fundamental in the case of left wing groups. Left wing groups advocated for
a radical break with the past, and women involvement as leaders was the first step toward an overturn
of traditions. The Japanese Red Army (JRA) was founded in 1969 and led by Fusako Shigenobu until
her arrest in Japan in 2000. In conflict with both state and society, the JRA has been active in different
regions of the world (Japan; Southeast Asia; Middle East) and has conducted international attacks
successfully. Revolutionary movements in Latin America have historically involved women in their
ranks. Karla J. Cunningham found that female membership within the Revolutionary Armed Forces of
Colombia (FARC) vary from 20 to 40 percent with a general average of 30 percent. Originally, at
frontline roles, women have progressively access to intelligence gathering and frontline operational
roles. Inside the Shining Path Peru organizations, 50 percent of the

Theme Of Revenge In Oresteia
The main focal point in which the Oresteia attempts to convey to its readers is that revenge is a
continuous and unending cycle. The concept of an eye for an eye is heavily emphasized throughout
the story and its characters. Therefore is someone is murdered, than a next of kin or relative will
extract vengeance upon the murderer. Which thus turns an attempt at justice into simply another
tragedy. And then a new chosen one will then later be selected to seek and obtain revenge on the
previous wrongdoer in which the cycle continues. The furies within the play also play a crucial role in
demonstrating the ruthless and unending nature of revenge through their methods of torturing and
haunting the martyr s blood related family for eternity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, if the United States were to launch a nuclear missile as Russia s capital, what would
happen? Retaliation. Russia would then do the exact same or possibly even worse directed at the
United States. Our blindness to come to the attention of this seemingly chronic problem within our
world has nearly lead humankind to the brink of its own destruction on many different occasions. Of
which, the closest humankind has gotten to destroying itself throughout our history was during the
brief time frame of the cuban missile crisis during the Cold War. We got so close in fact, that the
simple push of a button could have lead to total nuclear annihilation. Therefore, the principle of
revenge has been with us in our darkest moments as well as our everyday lives.
And even in our legal and justice systems the same principle applies. Why is a man who committed
murder given the death penalty? Since when does two wrongs equal one right? These are the questions
we must ask ourselves as we examine the meaning behind humankind s need for the extraction of
revenge.
The idea of revenge has existed as a staple of human civilization for as long as we as a species can
remember. Mankind s uncontrollable desire towards greed, and our natural tendency to be self serving,
is essentially the quintessential metaphorical roadblock that impedes our future progress. We are the

A Research Study On Adolescent Suicide Essay
Facilitating Connection and Saving Lives
The purpose of this paper is to detail a group aimed to provide support for lesbian, gay, and bisexual
(LGB) adolescents. The paper begins by examining literature related to adolescent suicide rates, the
lack of personal and community resources for teenagers, and adolescent development and mental
health. The paper will then address the methodology, purpose, and goals of the group. The paper will
address the role of the leader. He/she will utilize an Adlerian theoretical orientation and will be
involved, directive, and authentic. The leader will attempt to facilitate social relatedness and corrective
emotional experiences for group members. The paper will briefly review group evaluation, and it will
examine potential ethical/multicultural issues that this leader and group may encounter. The paper will
conclude by detailing activities that will be utilized throughout the six weeks of the group experience.

Adolescent Suicide and Distress
One young person age ten to 19 takes his/her own life every 90 minutes (Gould et al. as cited in Kitts,
2005, p. 622). Russell and Joyner revealed that adolescents who identify as gay or lesbian are two
times more likely to attempt suicide than straight adolescents (as cited in Kitts, 2005, p. 624). The risk
factor for suicide for gay and lesbian adolescents is not their sexuality, but psychosocial distress they
experience due to their sexuality (Kitts, 2005). Adolescents

The Moon In Federico Garcia Lorca s Blood Wedding
Looking through Federico Garcia Lorca s works, we can clearly see that he was very much influenced
by many aspects of nature. So, it is no wonder that in this play, Blood Wedding the character of The
Moon is influenced by integral parts of the natural world. This character, is one of the most important
as it drives the plot of towards a very emotional and tragic end. The moon is one of the most frequent
symbols in the works of Lorca, in Blood Wedding, Federico Garcia Lorca gave us a portrayal of his
version of the moon, he provides a masculine and ambiguous figure, cold and blood thirsty, which is
quite unusual as the moon is often represented as feminine and its associated with innocence and
purity. the moon acquires a very important role in this play, since it goes from being a witness to be a
mythical character embodied by a young woodcutter.
The moon is an omniscient character, and in this play, it can be seen as a symbol of death, as it is in its
full form, which could be interpreted as if it s the end of the cycle of life.
At the full stage, the moon stops being a symbol of light and hope, but instead, it turns into a sign of
tragedy. ¡No haya sombra ni emboscada! ¡Que no puedan escaparse! This quote shows that the moon
is foreshadowing the tragic ending of the two lovers, and it may symbolise fate as it says that they
won t escape, making it look like it s their destiny.
Even though, the moon is seen as innocence, throughout much of Spanish literature the moon

Democrat party s. Nick Clegg has been the leader of the Liberal Democrat party for 5 years now and
Ed Milliband has been the leader of the Labour party for 2 years. Both of these leaders have become
unpopular in the public s eyes: Nick Clegg due to him lying about the raising of tuition fees as well as
the negative view from his party as they feel he has disassociated himself from the party objectives in
order to conform to a conservative coalition. Ed Milliband is unpopular due to his lack of solid policy

He is attempting to bring back the pride in the liberal ideology and re aligning society with them; by
highlighting the importance of liberal ideals in a dramatic fashion he is becoming the front man for it
all. He is creating a situation for himself in which he is the representation of the Liberal Democrat
party. Therefore, removing the ideas of detachments from the party objectives. By repeating this word
he is emphasizing to the audience there is a clear direction of the party one that can be clearly placed

the public has been experiencing. Here by using the verb let he seems like he is pleading with
audiences to let him clarify what he wants, this represents the poor public opinion he has gained.
Milliband does this exacting repetition of significant phrases multiple times, like Britain has given my
family everything which he repeats twice. Here it seems he wants to clarify and get across his personal
debt to the country. He is emphasizing he will serve the nation appropriately. Ed Milliband also has

faith as well as we ve heard it , we ve seen it, we ve felt it. This power speech

Theme of Death in William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily Essay
Theme of Death in William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily
William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily is a tragic tale of a Southern aristocrat, Miss Emily Grierson,
who is the subject of a town s obsession. The narrator, a member of the town, tells the story of what
transpires in a decaying old Southern house that is always under the watchful eye of the townspeople.
They witness Miss Emily s life, her father s death, her turn to insanity and the death of both her and
her lover. The theme of death runs throughout this tale, which is understandable considering the events
that take place in the story. Faulkner uses foreshadowing to foretell events that will transpire later in
the story. Because of this foreshadowing, a reader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This description of Emily s hair is important, because one of Emily s hairs will be found next to
Homer s body, and it also shows how Emily is decaying like the house and items inside. Early in the
story Emily writes a letter on stationary of an archaic shape and with fading ink . The references here
are to the way she is always described growing older and decaying. Even Emily s house shares her
short squat characteristic and coquettish decay .
The insanity of Miss Emily is also foretold in A Rose for Emily. When the body of Homer is found in
her bed, the reader can understand that Emily killed him, because her mental stability had been
questioned a number of times. The narrator begins these allusions to her mental state when he tells
how the mayor, Colonel Sartoris, bestows a special tax exemption upon Miss Emily. Colonel Sartoris
makes up a story so unbelievable that it is described as so outlandish that only a woman could have
believed it . Later, the townspeople talk about her great aunt, the lady Wyatt, who had gone completely
crazy. They wonder about poor Emily with the insanity in her family. Her mental state comes into
question again when the town removes the body of her father. She is said to have broke down and
finally let them in to take and bury the body. This is an obvious analogy to her having a mental
breakdown. This is followed with the statement that the townspeople did

The final stage of the hero cycle is the return stage. The magical flight according to Joseph Campbell
is the stage of the story that the hero has to escape from the dark world. In the interview, he explains
that another creature is chasing the hero. For example, Prometheus was pursued by the gods because
he stole fire from them (Campbell). The fire gives mankind a chance to improve their lives and
become smarter. In Jurassic park, the magical flight takes place when the velociraptors are chasing
down Grant and his companions (Spielberg). In this case, the velociraptors are the gods because they

Harris explains that the hero has to become a new person. The hero does not live by the same ideals

Jurassic Park 3, Grant is once again influenced by money that will cover the costs of the archeological

situation when Hammond uses his money and influence to persuade Grant. This demonstrates that the

The Encyclopedia of Women s Health (2004) defines nutrition as the sum of processes involved with
the consumption of food. The human body depends on nutrients from carbohydrates, proteins, fats,
water, and fiber to function. Nutrition, exercise, and an appropriate diet work cohesively to maintain
that the body is working productively and at full capacity. This week s assignment required the

Personal Intake
After reviewing foods that provide the body with protein, carbohydrates, and lipids, it was imperative
to review my own personal intakes. My personal intake for the duration of the study was 2011kcal
with my recommended DRI at 2204 kcal. Most of my daily intakes were within the recommended
range, but there are areas within my diet that I need to adjust.
Protein
My protein DRI was to stay within 55 193g of which I consumed 72 g still within the recommend

Spin-Doctors Case Study
Since the PR ization of politics , spin doctors have played an essential role in the political and
communication processes of democratic societies. The reputation of an administrative team can be
irreversibly affected by the way a crisis or issue is managed in the eyes of the public, who have greater
influence over political power than ever before. It is the role of spin doctors to construct a favourable
narrative that will frame a politician in a positive light, while utilising the mass media to steer public
opinion. The role of a spin doctor can be challenging, especially during natural disasters. These
situations often evoke distress, panic and confusion among the public requiring an urgent political

The floods affected much of central and southern Queensland, killing 35 people and causing over
$200 billion in damages. This disaster was named as the most notorious flood in Australian history
(Carbone Hanson, 2012). This essay will draw on key examples from Bligh s performance and spin
team tactics throughout the course of the disaster. As outlined by Louw, there are four key political
players politicians, spin doctors, journalists and publics (2010). During the Queensland floods, each
player had a specific agenda. Journalists worked to create and circulate gripping stories while
providing the public with up to date crisis information. Spin professionals worked alongside the
Queensland Government to fulfil a number of objectives including: public safety, the promotion of
Bligh as a competent leader, and to control and minimise any potential negative criticism.
Additionally, Bligh also had specific agendas to fill driven by her professional reputation and political
popularity. Throughout the crisis, all political players achieved their goals while maintaining a
symbiotic relationship, which can be attributed to the success of Bligh s

A Rose For Emily Symbolism Analysis
The Symbolism of the Setting in Faulkner s and Hemingway s Stories
The place where the story is set plays the most significant role in the majority of fiction pieces, since it
is the setting that outlines the plot development and influences the heroes decisions and general
characteristics. In Faulkner s A Rose for Emily and Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants, the
setting is raised to the symbolic level. When the outside portrayal does not correspond to what is
happening inside the character, it adds a psychological perspective to the plot s analysis. In Faulkner s
story, there is much information about the Griersons who have been at the top tier of society for a long
time and have become an integral part of the local community. In ... Show more content on

It is the repetition of the phrase had once been that attracts the audience s attention, since with such a
repetition, the narrator wants to underline the obvious difference between the house s former splendor
and its current half ruined appearance, though it still tries to look stubborn and coquettish (1), just like
its last dweller Miss Emily. Hemingway also introduces the setting with the first sentence when saying
that the hills across the valley of the Ebro were long and white (229), and the whole location is
drenched in the bright sunlight with people having no possibility to hide in the shadow of trees. With
these words, the narrator wants to imply that this story is a kind of confession in which nothing will be
hidden from attentive readers, though it may take time for them to realize what the usual conversation
can hint at.
Both heroines understand that certain changes are inevitable in their condition. They are confused by
possible consequences and are scared stiff of what they are expected to do. While these emotions are
not shown directly, they are shown through the setting. In Faulkner s story, Miss Emily leaves her
house very seldom as if the surrounding world makes her insecure and unconfident, while a disgusting
stink of decay and frustration seems to start coming from the building she has been occupying for so
many years.

Essay On Acromegaly
Acromegaly is a relatively uncommon but serious disorder. Usually Acromegaly is a benign tumor on
the pituitary gland. The disorder causes the gland to secrete excess growth hormone which the body
doesn t need. Acromegaly translates into acro extremities and megaly enlargement. In an Acromegalic
patient elevated level of growth hormone in the bloodstream is responsible for enlargement of certain
organs and body parts throughout the body which eventually become permanent changes. An unusual
over development of the hands, feet, and facial bones (jaw, brow ridge, and cheekbones). Acromegaly
can be treated but if the symptoms of the diseases at first sight are ignored and not treated many
complications can occur and in worse case death. The disorder is often missed by doctors. This
research will describe Acromegaly and focus on statistics, causes, signs and symptoms, diagnosis,

The City Is The Nuclear Power Plant
The day began like any other. A city full of life woke up to continue its normal routine. Early morning
sunlight glinted off of surroundings along the horizon. Shiny cars crawled through the streets.
Pedestrians exited their homes and walked along the sidewalks. Bright, luscious green trees and
colorful gardens lined the streets. Children crossed the roads to get to their favorite playgrounds.
Teenagers headed to the beaches that bordered a lake in the center of town. Massive concrete flats,
serving as apartment buildings, created grids throughout the city. As usual, workers constructed new
buildings for an ever growing community. A giant Ferris wheel, one of the city s most iconic
landmarks, towered over the fairgrounds in the distance. Statues stood in the many public squares that
occupied space between buildings. One of the most noticeable features of the city is the nuclear power
plant, centrally located near the middle of the metropolis. The town of Pripyat, Ukraine, home to
almost fifty thousand people, was developing into a model city. Little did the citizens know that their
lives were about to change. In the case of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor accident in 1986, the calamity
came as a complete and utter shock to the people involved. Far too often, this is also the case for
individuals involved in other disasters. Lives are built for the purpose of moving forward, and one
unfortunate mishap can send them spiraling in the opposite direction. Problematic factors that

Religious wars in the Middle East (Holy Land)
There were many conflicts that lead to religious wars in the Middle East or the Holy Land. History
gives no valid claim to any piece of land; someone else was always there earlier. This gives reason
that the Arabs and Israelis are not fighting about religion due to the fact that they are not trying to
promote their faith. Many religions peoplehood are rooted in the Holy Land, such as Judaism and
Christianity. The ancient Hebrews were almost continually at war and were conquered by Assyria,
Persia, Alexander the Great, and Rome. The Jews became a dispersed people but preserved a sense of
their nationhood through the books of the Bible. Over time many of the Jews were converted; whether
it was forced or voluntary, they assimilated into local life. Jews became so intertwined in the lives of
people all around the world. The Jews had a psychological connection to the land rather than a blood
connection. This allowed the Jews to spread spatially while still developing a strong connection to
God. The peaceful spread of Jews, though, caused religious carnages and expulsions. The
Enlightenment of the eighteenth century brought back religious intolerance and brought Jews out of
the ghetto and into citizenship in West Europe. This was a slow process done in backward Russia
where most Jews lived. Earlier outbursts against the Jews were connected to the fight to convert them.
The new nationalism of Europe saw Jews as a racially distinct and impure people. Nationalism is an

Dangers of Mount Everest
Climbing Mount Everest is a very dangerous extreme sport because it can not only be dangerous to

On Mount Everest there are many crevasses opening up and closing. A crevasse is usually found under
a new snow bridge which is made of snow from previous years. They are sometimes very hard to see
and are very lethal. When you can see them and have to cross them then you have to use a ladder and
must be very careful crossing because the spikes on your shoes are slippery against the metal ladder,
and you must also use a rope for assistance.
Weather on Everest is also a big danger to consider. On the mountain wind can reach up to 100 mph or
even more. If the weather is bad on the mountain you shouldn t go out and climb again, you should
wait for safe days. The temperature on Everest can range from 10 to 25 celsius. The weather is
probably the worst physical danger o n Everest. Whenever you can you need to check what the
weather is going to be like before going back out and climbing.

Schools often provide students with the freedom of choosing the sport they want to play. Although, it
is debated often if sports are good or bad for kids, they unfortunately are bad. This is because of the
overwhelming injuries, pressure and academics, and poor effort in school, although some will say it

Roman Gladiators
The Romans liked watching other people die; their gladiator games were there live entertainment. It is
believed that the first gladiators were slaves who were made to fight to the death at the funeral of a
famous aristocrat, Junius Brutus Pera, in 264 BC. The fight between the two was arranged in his
honor. Gradually the gladiator games became separated from funeral ceremonies and were staged by
the wealthy as a means of displaying their power and influence among the people in the local
community. The wealthy and elite classes could promote themselves by sponsoring the games, and
paying to put the show on. The term Gladiator comes from the term gladius after the Roman sword.
The gladiators were mostly prosecuted criminals, imprisoned soldiers and slaves. These people would
be forced to fight other prisoners, sometimes until their death in the case that it was decided for him to
die, usually by the spectators. Rarely gladiators would be free, men would sometimes volunteer to be a
gladiator and take on the status of a slave to reap the benefits of fame that came along with the title,
the fans and money .But the most likely reason why people volunteered was the down payment that a
volunteer received upon taking the gladiator oath. When this oath was taken it meant that the owner
the now gladiator had total control over the gladiator s life, making him lowered the status of a slave.

Why I Am My Writing
While I believed my writing to be concise, yet thorough in the beginning of the semester, it became
clear to me that that was not the case. When entering EN3414, I had no knowledge of critical theories
or how to use secondary sources to enhance my argument instead of carry it. I believed my heavy
sentence phrasing to be an asset instead of a way to bury my argument beneath long thoughts. In
EN3414, I was able to focus on taking my papers straight to my argument, to avoid useless sources or
let them lead the paper instead of letting my argument carry the essay. And because I have learned to
revise and rewrite my papers as many times as possible before they are due, I can no acknowledge the
parts of my essay that are too heavy or that need to be expanded upon. As I finish this course I feel my
writing is clear and concise, stating an idea and following that argument throughout the paper. Before
taking Critical Writing and Research Literary Studies, my writing, while rather average, was enough
to enable success in composition and survey courses; however, it was not advanced enough for this
class. The writings for composition or survey classes were organized, but lacked a depth or clear
argument. While the topics would be clear and covered, there would be little to no in depth analysis
and more of a skimming above the surface. Even in longer papers, the depth of my argument was
never really deep enough, and while it was enough for the beginning courses, it clearly became a

One research states psychotherapy is underutilized for veterans suffering from PTSD, since this
disorder is linked to suicide risk, reduced life quality, physical disabilities and even difficulty in

Was Disney Justified In The Film Moana
Lately, three articles were reviewed for the film, Moana, depicting whether Disney was being
stereotypical and insensitive to the Polynesian culture. Many people think that Disney was wrong in
the depiction of the character s appearances, especially relating to the demigod character, Maui.
Disney was justified in creating the Moana film and was not culturally insensitive to the Polynesian
people because Disney had spent 5 years just getting the characters correct by Polynesian standard,
they also looked far and hard in order to get Polynesian voice actors and songwriters, and finally, the
Disney team took the time out of their lives in order to make the setting of the movie as authentic as

from a Polynesian audience. Furthermore, Disney was justified in the creation of this movie because it
was said by a Polynesian person Am I still grounded and rooted in the way I want to be? And I can
honestly say I am and this is relating back to the fact that the movie was able to ground her in her
culture. To put into finality, Disney was justified in the creation of the film, Moana because of use of

The Battle Of Creationism And Evolutionary Theory
The battle of creationism and evolutionary theory is not a new one. That being said, in order to
understand whether creationism has a place in secondary education, one must first understand the
complexity of the matter. Evolution in itself is a theory proposed by Charles Darwin in 1859. Grossly
simplified, the theory states that life evolved from non life; the concept of descent with modification.
This theory arouses conflict because many Christians believe that it negates the literal interpretation of
the biblical creation story. It is from this story that the theory of creationism began. While some may
argue that creationism deserves to be taught alongside evolutionary theory within the science
curriculum of secondary schools of a municipality or state, these individuals are mistaken.
Creationism is not a science, therefore by teaching it one violates the first amendment and also further
develops the religious inequality that its supporters argue teaching it creates. There is no place for
creationism in the science curriculum within secondary public education. To begin, the idea that
creationism is a science is a troublesome one in itself. According to Creationism.org, the leading
authority on Creation Science, creationism is, the theory that man, the earth, and the rest of the
universe were originally created rather than randomly exploding from nothingness into chance
existence . Science as a practice is not this way. By definition, science is the knowledge about or

Lee, and Lieutenant Stonewall Jackson. Stonewall Jackson was a Lieutenant of the Confederate army
he got his nickname at one of the wars called the First Manassas Jackson went to West Point Military
Academy. People liked Jackson people thought jackson was a hero compared to Robert E. Lee who
was a higher command than Jackson. Everything for Jackson was going good for him until the battle
of Chancellorsville where he was severely injured. At the battle of Chancellorsville Jackson was shot
by his own men on accident but he lived. Jackson was shot when he was riding his horse in the dark to
his men and his men thought he was an enemy and fired at him even though they couldn t see him so
he was shot and he survived that but died a few weeks later on May 10,1863. The other important
general from the Confederate Army is General Robert E, Lee. He was a higher command than
Jackson. Robert, E Lee was from Virginia and he was also in the U.S Army he left the U.S Army to
join the army in his state the Confederate Army or C.S.A Robert E, Lee was a successful general but

Lean Six Sigma And Its Application
Abstract or Executive summary:
Lean Six Sigma is a widely known approach used for improving the processing and quality of the
products and services in an organization. Some of its major functions include improving quality,
removing waste, reducing variation and organization. There have been several studies that focus on
the combination of Lean Enterprise and Six Sigma. These applications mainly focused on the private
industry more than the government industry. Hence, the research aims to explore the strategy of Lean
Six Sigma and its application to the local government. The research uses a qualitative and Descriptive
Method to investigate the area of Lean Six Sigma tools in improving the quality and processes within
an organization. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the use of both strategies together could be challenging as few organizations have been able
to successfully integrate and apply the Green Lean Six Sigma. There are several factors that influence
the implementation of Green Lean Six Sigma implementation process.
Six Sigma:
In addition to this, Lean Six Sigma mainly focuses on eliminating waste and improving efficiency. It
consists of a combination of two strategies namely; Lean Enterprise and Six Sigma. Six Sigma
involves the Quality management of product which includes waste reduction, identifying defects if
any and also improving the quality. Six Sigma set its stage in the industry by Motorola Corporation in
1980. Furthermore, It gained its popularity in 1990s.
Lean Enterprise:
When it comes to Lean Enterprise, it focuses mainly on reducing cycle time and also waste in the
process. Lean Enterprise was at first developed by Toyota Motor Corporation as the Toyota Production
System which became popular after 1973. The energy crisis facilitated the increasing demand at that
time. The term Lean Enterprise is used to broaden the scope of a Lean programme from
manufacturing to embrace the enterprise or entire organization . (Alukal, 2003)
Lean Six Sigma:
Therefore, Lean Six Sigma uses a variety of problem solving tools that analyze the process as well as
the nature of problem being studied. These tools also facilitate the organization and simplification of
the work

Sixth Great Extinction
1)attention grabber: Here on Earth today we are living through a time known as the sixth great
extinction, at least according to certain scientists.
2)listener relevance: Many species go extinct daily, which ruins ecosystems and causes extinction to
other organisms that live in that environment. Which leads to extinction of larger organisms and
possibly could even lead to us.
3)speaker credibility: I believe that we need help preserve our planet and species that live here as best
as we can to prevent the destruction of Earth and the many organisms that live here. Without plants
and animals we would not be able to survive.
4)thesis: Species Extinction is a big issue today, though there are a few different viewpoints on how
quickly species ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A.sub point: As stated under the Endangered Species Act, more than 1,300 U.S. plants and animals
already have been federally listed as threatened or endangered and protected. That is a lot of species at
risk of going extinct, fortunately groups such as these are able to possible avoid that from happening.
Though some may never be able to return to the wild if the habitat they live in is completely gone
from in the outside world, they would not be able to survive. So preserving habitats for these animals
is also a key factor of keeping species from going extinct.
B.sub point: The National Wildlife Federation helps restore and protect endangered species by
restoring habitats along with defending the Endangered Species Act, lowing threats to the species, and
many other key factors of keeping a species from dying out.
Transition: Without the help of the whole world, more and more species will continue to go extinct.
Conclusion
1)Summarize points previously stated
A.But as I stated by Hubble in my first article, most data is over exaggerated. Though that does not
mean that we do not need to take action about the issue though, because it is still an

A Summary Of Andrew Carnegie s Contributions To The Steel...
Andrew Carnegie introduced manufacturing and administrative innovations to the steel industry,
dramatically increasing the efficiency of steel production; this stimulated the growth of American
industry, creating new jobs and aiding working class Americans. In order to manufacture steel more
prolifically, Carnegie introduced the Bessemer process to the American steel industry. This process
allowed pig iron to be converted to steel far more efficiently than prior methods had, and as a result,
the price of steel dropped more than seventy percent (Carnegie, Andrew. The Empire...233). Because
the Bessemer process eased the manufacture of steel, the cost of steel production decreased;
consequently, buying steel was not as expensive as it had previously

Theories About The Etruscans The Etruscans were a people steeped in mystery that thrived in Tuscany, most of the information we have about the Etruscans are from indirect sources, either from Roman historians, the same Roman historians that helped erase most of Etruscan culture, or Ancient Greek historians who some believe didn t culturally grasp the different cultural values of their society. There is no concrete theory of where the Etruscans originated but they lived between the 7th and 3rd centuries BC. An mtDNA study completed in 2013 stated that the Etruscans were most likely an indigenous population. Another study completed six years earlier in 2007, hypothesized that they showed no similarities genetically to specimens from the near east, which vaguely could disprove one of the two most popular theories about the Etruscans heritage. Antibodies that are given to a person may not be enough to cure a bacterial infection due to superbugs which is a pathogen resistant to many different types of antibodies. Some of the reasons why this exists is due to common misuse of people in antibiotics. For instance, not finishing up what the doctors prescribe after feeling better and saving for later for future use is not a good practice. In early modern terrorism, the involvement of women is usually referred as female militancy. There was a strong presence of women in several of the most active left wing terrorist groups. Cindy D. Ness suggests that women have tended to be more active as leaders and members of groups to overturn traditional values rather than to restore the old ones. The very nature of left wing groups is more disposed to justify and advocate in favor of women assuming leadership and operational positions. Non traditional roles and the overturn of traditional societies is fundamental in the case of left wing groups. Left wing groups advocated for a radical break with the past, and women involvement as leaders was the first step toward an overturn of traditions. This character, is one of the most important as it drives the plot of towards a very emotional and tragic end. The moon is one of the most frequent symbols in the works of Lorca, in Blood Wedding, Federico Garcia Lorca gave us a portrayal of his version of the moon, he provides a masculine and ambiguous figure, cold and blood thirsty, which is quite unusual as the moon is often represented as feminine and its associated with innocence and purity. the moon acquires a very important role in this play, since it goes from being a witness to be a mythical character embodied by a young woodcutter. The moon is an omniscient character, and in this play, it can be seen as a symbol of death, as it is in its full form, which could be interpreted as if it s the end of the cycle of life. At the full stage, the moon stops being a symbol of light and hope, but instead, it turns into a sign of tragedy. ¡No haya sombra ni emboscada! ¡Que no puedan escaparse! A Rose For Emily Symbolism Analysis The Symbolism of the Setting in Faulkner s and Hemingway s Stories The place where the story is set plays the most significant role in the majority of fiction pieces, since it is the setting that outlines the plot development and influences the heroes decisions and general characteristics. In Faulkner s A Rose for Emily and Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants, the setting is raised to the symbolic level. When the outside portrayal does not correspond to what is happening inside the character, it adds a psychological perspective to the plot s analysis. It is the repetition of the phrase had once been that attracts the audience s attention, since with such a repetition, the narrator wants to underline the obvious difference between the house s former splendor and its current half ruined appearance, though it still tries to look stubborn and coquettish (1), just like its last dweller Miss Emily. Hemingway also introduces the setting with the first sentence when saying that the hills across the valley of the Ebro were long and white (229), and the whole location is drenched in the bright sunlight with people having no possibility to hide in the shadow of trees. With these words, the narrator wants to imply that this story is a kind of confession in which nothing will be hidden from attentive readers, though it may take time for them to realize what the usual conversation can hint at. Both heroines understand that certain changes are inevitable in their condition. They are confused by possible consequences and are scared stiff of what they are expected to do. While these emotions are not shown directly, they are shown through the setting. Early morning sunlight glinted off of surroundings along the horizon. Shiny cars crawled through the streets. Pedestrians exited their homes and walked along the sidewalks. Bright, luscious green trees and colorful gardens lined the streets. Children crossed the roads to get to their favorite playgrounds. Teenagers headed to the beaches that bordered a lake in the center of town. Massive concrete flats, serving as apartment buildings, created grids throughout the city. As usual, workers constructed new buildings for an ever growing community. A giant Ferris wheel, one of the city s most iconic landmarks, towered over the fairgrounds in the distance. Statues stood in the many public squares that occupied space between buildings. History gives no valid claim to any piece of land; someone else was always there earlier. This gives reason that the Arabs and Israelis are not fighting about religion due to the fact that they are not trying to promote their faith. Many religions peoplehood are rooted in the Holy Land, such as Judaism and Christianity. The ancient Hebrews were almost continually at war and were conquered by Assyria, Persia, Alexander the Great, and Rome. The Jews became a dispersed people but preserved a sense of their nationhood through the books of the Bible. Over time many of the Jews were converted; whether it was forced or voluntary, they assimilated into local life. Jews became so intertwined in the lives of people all around the world. The Jews had a psychological connection to the land rather than a blood connection. This allowed the Jews to spread spatially while still developing a strong connection to God. The peaceful spread of Jews, though, caused religious carnages and expulsions. The Enlightenment of the eighteenth century brought back religious intolerance and brought Jews out of the ghetto and into citizenship in West Europe. This was a slow process done in backward Russia where most Jews lived. Earlier outbursts against the Jews were connected to the fight to convert them. It is believed that the first gladiators were slaves who were made to fight to the death at the funeral of a famous aristocrat, Junius Brutus Pera, in 264 BC. The fight between the two was arranged in his honor. Gradually the gladiator games became separated from funeral ceremonies and were staged by the wealthy as a means of displaying their power and influence among the people in the local community. The wealthy and elite classes could promote themselves by sponsoring the games, and paying to put the show on. The term Gladiator comes from the term gladius after the Roman sword. The gladiators were mostly prosecuted criminals, imprisoned soldiers and slaves. These people would be forced to fight other prisoners, sometimes until their death in the case that it was decided for him to die, usually by the spectators. Rarely gladiators would be free, men would sometimes volunteer to be a gladiator and take on the status of a slave to reap the benefits of fame that came along with the title, the fans and money .But the most likely reason why people volunteered was the down payment that a volunteer received upon taking the gladiator oath. When entering EN3414, I had no knowledge of critical theories or how to use secondary sources to enhance my argument instead of carry it. I believed my heavy sentence phrasing to be an asset instead of a way to bury my argument beneath long thoughts. In EN3414, I was able to focus on taking my papers straight to my argument, to avoid useless sources or let them lead the paper instead of letting my argument carry the essay. Evolution in itself is a theory proposed by Charles Darwin in 1859. Grossly simplified, the theory states that life evolved from non life; the concept of descent with modification. This theory arouses conflict because many Christians believe that it negates the literal interpretation of the biblical creation story. It is from this story that the theory of creationism began. While some may argue that creationism deserves to be taught alongside evolutionary theory within the science curriculum of secondary schools of a municipality or state, these individuals are mistaken. Creationism is not a science, therefore by teaching it one violates the first amendment and also further develops the religious inequality that its supporters argue teaching it creates. There is no place for creationism in the science curriculum within secondary public education. To begin, the idea that creationism is a science is a troublesome one in itself. According to Creationism.org, the leading authority on Creation Science, creationism is, the theory that man, the earth, and the rest of the universe were originally created rather than randomly exploding from nothingness into chance existence . Science as a practice is not this way. By definition, science is the knowledge about or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Sixth Great Extinction 1)attention grabber: Here on Earth today we are living through a time known as the sixth great extinction, at least according to certain scientists. 2)listener relevance: Many species go extinct daily, which ruins ecosystems and causes extinction to other organisms that live in that environment. Which leads to extinction of larger organisms and possibly could even lead to us. 3)speaker credibility: I believe that we need help preserve our planet and species that live here as best as we can to prevent the destruction of Earth and the many organisms that live here. Without plants and animals we would not be able to survive. 4)thesis: Species Extinction is a big issue today, though there are a few different viewpoints on how quickly species ... A.sub point: As stated under the Endangered Species Act, more than 1,300 U.S. plants and animals already have been federally listed as threatened or endangered and protected. That is a lot of species at risk of going extinct, fortunately groups such as these are able to possible avoid that from happening. Though some may never be able to return to the wild if the habitat they live in is completely gone from in the outside world, they would not be able to survive. So preserving habitats for these animals is also a key factor of keeping species from going extinct. B.sub point: The National Wildlife Federation helps restore and protect endangered species by restoring habitats along with defending the Endangered Species Act, lowing threats to the species, and many other key factors of keeping a species from dying out.
