2. Chemotherapy Essay
Cancer affects more than 750000 and more than 120000 are diagnosed every year, in Australia
alone. For more than 50 years, chemotherapy has been prescribed as a main treatment method for
cancer. Chemotherapy has been prescribed at least once in 49.1% of all new cancer patients. Based
on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme Data (2011), more than 2.5 million prescriptions for
antineoplastic agents are given to cancerpatients annually (Al Dasooqi et al., 2013, Logan et al.,
2008, Logan et al., 2009). However, an acute side effect of chemotherapyobserved in cancer
patients, which continues to deteriorate a cancer patient s condition; is mucositis (Al Dasooqi et

Recent advances in comprehending the fundamental pathobiology of gastrointestinal mucositis
development, states that pro inflammatory cytokines and the uncontrolled activation nuclear factor
kappa B are the major contributing factors of gastrointestinal mucositis (Al Dasooqi et al., 2013,
Logan et al., 2008, Logan et al., 2009, Sonis, 2004). Gastrointestinal mucositis is known mainly to
occur due to the activation of nuclear factor kappa B, which causes the activation of pro
inflammatory cytokines such as tumour necrosis factor (TNF) пЃЎ, interleukin (IL) 1ОІ, IL 4, IL 6
and interferon (IFN) Оі (Al Dasooqi et al., 2013, Logan et al., 2008, Logan et al., 2009, Stringer et
al., 2010). This in turn causes damage and inflammation, with the presence of ulceration (not
conspicuous without a surgical procedure) in the mucosa of the gastrointestinal tract (Al Dasooqi
et al., 2013, Logan et al., 2008, Logan et al., 2009, Stringer et al., 2010).
The current treatment methods according to the Multinational Association of Supportive Care and
Cancer/International Society of Oral Oncology Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Management of
Mucositis are very narrow (Gibson, R. J. et al. 2013; Lalla et al. 2014). The only therapeutic agent
recommended for chemotherapy induced gastrointestinal mucositis management is octreotide, once
loperamide has failed to stop diarrhoea (Al Dasooqi et al., 2013, Ginopoulos et al., 1996, Logan et

4. Anh Do s Autobiography The Happiest Refugee
Students study a range of courses through the analysis of text types, in our school s Year Nine
English curriculum. They have studied poetry in the course of Australian Identity , in which it gave
an insight into conflicts, customs and multiculturalism in Australia. Despite that, all they have
learnt is just the tip of the iceberg, and that as a multicultural school, they should have a deeper
understanding of the experiences of refugees who have made Australia their home. It is why Anh
Do s autobiography, The Happiest Refugee , should be included for study in a Year nine English
course, by you, the English faculty.
The book is an emotional and humorous autobiography, which circulates around the life of Anh Do,
now a prominent Australian comedian and presenter. It follows his family s escape from
communist Vietnam, and explores Do s newfound life in Australia. The book sees... Show more

The theme of racism in The Happiest Refugee makes it an ideal text to study in a year nine

and our ever fluctuating attitudes towards other cultures. Therefore, The Happiest Refugee should

5. Critical Analysis Paper On Nursing
Critical Reflective Analysis Paper The purpose of this paper is to reflect upon my original
definition of nursing metaparadigm concepts critically, and to determine if any changes in my
perception towards practice have occurred. The focus of the paper is to critically analyze the
transformations that have occurred in my approach to practice. The critical analysis of nursing
metaparadigm concepts has resulted in the transformation of my thinking regarding a person,
nursing, and environment while my perception regarding the health remains same. Firstly, I
discovered the importance of the concept of development in the definition of a person. Secondly, I
learned that nursing care should be flexible and should move around the person and their... Show

Health I defined health as a physical, social, emotional, psychological and spiritual wellbeing of a
person which is vastly shaped by their environment. This definition falls under totality paradigm.
This is so because, according to totality paradigm, health is defined according to societal norms.
Society sets a benchmark for what health is. Hence, health can be measured as compared to the
societal norm. If the person deviates from the societal norm then the person is considered unhealthy.
Similarly, I mention in my definition that health is something that is maintained by the stability of
different aspects of the person. The benchmark of stability is usually set by society. My definition
does not fall into simultaneity paradigm because unlike my definition, simultaneity paradigm states
that health is not defined by the benchmark of society rather, health is defined only by a person,
and only the person knows what health means to them. Environment According to me, environment
denotes a person s surrounding including their family, community, culture, beliefs, and values.
Environment shapes the person s health and wellbeing as well as their own view towards the
definition of being healthy. My view on the concept of environment relates to Parse s (1987) totality
paradigm. Totality paradigm states that the environment is something within which the person
exists. It influences the way in which the person functions. Similarly, I believe that the environment

The family will typically sacrifice their own needs to take care of the veteran who has returned.
When a family member begins to place the veteran s health, welfare and needs before their own,
they can lose contact with their own needs, desires, and sense of self: becoming co dependent
(Mental Health America). The family has good intentions by taking care of the veteran who is
experiencing difficulty, but the caretaking becomes compulsive and defeating. Co dependents often
take on a martyr s role. The problem is that these repeated rescue attempts allow the needy
individual to continue on a destructive course and to become even more dependent on the

8. Entropy Research Paper
Entropy and Energy Density in A Finite and Infinite Dimensional Universe
Entropy, or disorder, is increasing in the universe and aims to do so until it reaches its maximum
limit or capacity [1]. Energy density, on the other hand, is the amount of energy stored per a given
volume of space [2]. While the total amount of energy in the universe remains constant [3], energy
density decreases as the universe continues to expand.
In an infinite dimensional universe, meaning the universe will continue to expand indefinitely in all
directions, entropy will continue to increase until it eventually reaches its maximum. When this
happens, all energy would have been transformed into the same type of energy and dispersed
equally throughout the whole universe. This would happen because if entropy has reached its
maximum limit, then everything would have already been disordered to its maximum limit. At this
point, the whole universe would then be in equilibrium: the Heat Death of the Universe [4].
Another possible outcome is that, as the universe is expanding indefinitely, then entropy will also
increase indefinitely and will not be able to reach its maximum limit.
On the other hand, in a finite dimensional universe, meaning the universe will continue to expand
only until a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

9. Symbolism In The Dust Bowl
An example of symbolism in The Dust Bowl is in the poem On The Road With Arley when
Billy Joe Said And every little crowd is grateful to hear a rag or two played on the piano by a
long legged, red haired girl, even when the piano has a few keys soured by dust. This is
symbolic for the struggle that the family has to deal with because of the drought, dust storms,
and their way of life. In this poem, when Billy Joe says At first Ma crossed her arms against her
chest and stared me down, hard jawed and sharp, and said I couldn t go. is an example of
imagery. This shows imagery because the reader can imagine Ma staring down at Billy Joe with
anger and sternness. This lets the reader know that the mom is annoyed and mad at Billie Joe for

12. Food Rewards
The OFC function has been implicated in the devaluation of food rewards by satiety (Gremel and
Costa, 2013). It has been implicated in various cue related behaviors modulated by changes in
expected value. Furthermore, the OFC neurons hold value based information online to guide future
decision making and therefore estimate the likelihood of specific outcomes to guide future
responses (Wilson et al, 2014). Given that the OFC receives significant sensory information, the
OFC likely integrates signals about sensory properties with expected outcomes (Thompson et al,
2017). Thus, the OFC registers the current value of foods and updates actions based on this
information. However, several studies have indicated that obese humans and rats fed a... Show more

Studies show that an inability to shift between habits and goal directed actions (break habits) might
underlie distorted behaviours observed in obsessive compulsive disorder addiction, and other
decision making disorders. Goal directed and habitual actions are controlled by different parts of the
striatum, which lies posterior to the orbitofrontal cortex (Figure 1). Through lever pressing
experiments done on mice, it has been determined that the dorsal medial striatum (DMS) is
necessary for goal directed actions (Thompson et al, 2017), while the dorsal lateral striatum (DLS)
is necessary for habitual actions. The OFC modulate medial striatum through direct projections and
indirectly through connexions with striatal projecting cortical areas, basolateral amygdala and
ventral tegmental/substantia nigra. Through lesions of the lateral OFC, which did not affect
neighbouring cortices, it has been discovered that mice do not reduce lever pressing following
outcome revaluation. Conversely, Sham mice, which are mice used as a control through fake
surgical intervention, shifted between habitual and goal directed actions. OFC lesioned mice
showed intact habitual actions but disrupted goal directed actions. This suggests that the OFC is
critical in modifying outcome value, and that obese mice may have similar disruptions in the OFC,
causing them to eat in a habit like fashion. Overall, it seems that the execution of daily life tasks,
such as transitioning between goal

13. The Between Iran And The United States
Imagine growing up in chains, living a life of strict rules and harsh punishments, a life in which
fear was your closest companion. This is the basic concept explored by Marjane Satrapi in her
autobiographical graphic fiction Persepolis . Satrapi focuses on her own struggles growing up in
Iran during the Islamic Revolution and Irans war with Iraq. Both of these events help establish the
setting and create an intensely high cultural climate. Persepolis is centered on Iran s cultural
distinctions and offers a symbolic glimpse into American freedom. When compared, Iran and the
United Statesdiffer greatly in the establishment of religious, political, and social institutions.
The biggest contrast between Iran and the United States is the level of religious diversity
practiced within each nation. Iran s population is 99% Islamic and only 1% non Islamic (
Iranian Groups 1) . The United States shows greater diversity with its population being 70%
Christian, 23% Atheist, and 7% non Christian. ( America s Religious Landscape 3). Iran claims
that it offers religious freedom, yet those who choose to practice another faith are in danger of
being denied basic civil rights and liberties and can even be executed. Persepolis allows us to see
how the Islamic faith is unwavering within Iran. Every character both male and female are

14. Electric Vehicles Vs. Gasoline Vehicles Essay
Materials and Methods Source #1 In the first article, Electric Vehicles vs Gasoline Vehicles: A
Cost and Emissions Comparison, the cost and GHG emissions of plug in hybrid electric
vehicles (PHEV), electric vehicles (EVs), and standard gasoline cars were compared. All the
numbers used in the research were based on averages in the Midwestern region of the United
States, and was published June 2nd, 2011 at 10:53 a.m. Its goal was to measure how much
better, or worse, any type of electric car is compared to your standard gas car. It also compared
how much it costs you to drive per mile. The source believes hybrid vehicles actually hurt the
environment more than it preserves. To calculate the cost per mile, they took the average power
used for PHEVs per 100 miles, 35 Kwh, and multiplied that by the average cost per Kwh in
residential regions, $0.11. Then, it takes into account the cost to get a charging station at your
home. This really drives up the cost of electric vehicles because it cost $50 to $90 for a
subscription every month. After that, the emissions per mile was calculated for all three cars by
calculating the average. The regional average for hybrid cars 35 Kwh per 100 miles. It also took
into account the regions power plant GHG emissions from natural gas and coal. Source #2 In the

16. The Athenian Jury In The Apology
Depicting the justification between the Athenian jury against the father of philosophy, the Apology
exhibits Plato s recollection and interpretation of the notorious trial of Socrates. Accused of refusing
to worship the gods recognized by the Athenian state, corrupting the youth, and informally
addressing himself throughout the trial, Socratespresents himself as a villain or an enemy to the
Athenian society and jury. Even though Socrates could have solicited pity towards the jury by
strengthening his defense with emotional appeal, Socrates refusal to appease the jury in the Apology
justly transcends the moral values of the Athenian jury and the modern human. Socrates emphasis
on preserving the impartiality of the trial provides support for Socrates refusal to appease the jury.

The theological model John Barbour lists the various models for Christ s atonement: suffering,
sacrificial victim, liberator and moral example. In ethics, the servant model may clarify how
Christians are to behave. (20) Marc Cortez notes that in the context of theology we have a
translation model. This model articulates absolute biblical truths in a manner that is easily
communicated and understood. The praxis model, however, is more concerned with transforming
these truths into action. Cortez points out that the purpose of a theological model is to spell out,

theoretical models is that of suggesting potentially fruitful lines of inquiry and the revelation of

19. What Is The Difference Between Sir Gawain And The Green...
Chivalry
(An analysis of Chivalry in From Sir Gawain and The Green Knight)
Emphasizing military courage, Christianity, and group loyalty centered on Arthur (Phillips). Who
followed Chivalry ideals? Knights during the time of King Arthur followed Chivalry. Chivalry was
the code to live by for knights of this era. Chivalry is a combination of Christian and military ideals
including: courage, honesty, faith, respect for all, modesty and loyalty. From Sir Gawain and The
Green Knight by an unknown author, is about a supernatural knight, The Green Knight, who rides
into Camelot and challenges the Knights of the Round Table. The Green Knight challenges any of
the knights to decapitate his head with an axe; however, he will return what they do to him in a
year and a day. The knight, Sir Gawain, is the fellow who accepts The Green Knight s challenge.
Sir Gawain, after seeing The Green Knight pick up his decapitated head, stick in back onto his
body, and ride off, has to embark on a trip to The Green Chapel where The Green Knight s abode
is. So the supernatural knight can return the favor unto him. Ultimately, there are three main
instances of Chivalry in From Sir Gawain and The Green Knight. In From Sir Gawain and The
Green Knight Chivalry is indicated by Sir Gawain, through his bravery, respect, and humility in
accepting the Green Knight s challenge in place of King Arthur. As declared by Sir Gawain in
From Sir Gawain and The Green Knight, I am the weakest, well I know, and of wit feeblest; And
the loss of my life would be least of any (174 lines 128 130). The prior quote demonstrates how
Sir Gawain is humble he states that he is the weakest of all the knights and if The Green Knight
decapitates and kills him, the loss of life won t mean much, compared to the loss of any of the
other knight s lives. Sir Gawain before accepting the challenge in place of King Arthur shows
respect for his king by asking permission from King Arthur to accept The Green Knight s challenge
in Arthur s place. Likewise, Sir Gawain also exhibits bravery by accepting the challenge of The
Green Knight. All of the Knights of The Round Table had an ominous feeling even before the

22. Rosebud in Citizen Kane Essay
Rosebud in Citizen Kane
Rosebud is sled, Kane s sled when he was a boy. Rosebud is the foundation of the film of citizen
Kane. Rosebud is also Kane s last words. He was a very important man, known globally.
Rosebud is the word everyone wants to understand the meaning of, so there is a hunt to find the
meaning of the word. This sets the story for the film. Rosebud is a symbol of Kane, in that
Rosebud represents his loss of the ability to love and how to love. The film Citizen Kane has a lot of
direction meaning that every shot means something in its own way, there is a hidden message in
every movement of the camera. There was a close up on the NO TRESPASSING sign emphasising

The camera shoots the shot through the paper weight as the nurse comes in.
These direction techniques create a lot of tension because up to the point where the word
Rosebud comes out of Kane s mouth there is a lot of tension and suspense because we are
wondering who is behind the castle, and the camera doesn t give anything away. And to create
further tension and a man says Rosebud and we have no clues. In the second sequence we find
out more about Kane himself, exactly how important he was. In the second sequence we find
out Kane is globally well known as newspapers all over the world wrote his death as front page
news. We also find that he was in politics, the media and into forestry and doubled ownership.
Kan s image is his biggest selling point. In this sequence we find out that Rosebud was Kane s last
words, and that someone s last word could say a lot about the person.
Rosebud sets up the narrative motivation in that the audience and Mr Thompson want to know
what the meaning behind Rosebud is, what was on Kane s mind at his last breath. There is a brief
mention of sled to give the audience another subtle clue. Rosebud sets up the structure in that
Thompson, the man in charge of Kane s life story is now on the search of the meaning of Rosebud.

23. The Main Assumptions Of Family Social Exchange Theory
Family Social Exchange theory is the idea that social change and stability represent a process of
cost and benefit between the two parties or individuals: how much effort is put into the relationship
versus how much effort our companion is contributing. This theory proposes that in order to
understand one another and the choices made by them, we must understand what that individuals
finds to be motivating or rewarding.
Main Assumptions As there are many assumptions on social exchange, one of the assumptions to
know is that people are motivated by self interest. Meaning that we seek things or relationships
that are beneficial to ourselves. Like weighing the cost and rewards of a relationship or product
that is bought for a purpose. Thus, we, as human being finds more pleasurable to engage in a
relationship or interactions that will be more beneficial and rewarding, while avoiding the least
cost or punishment. When people choose to help others, they do so because of personal gain
they expect to obtain from doing so. An example could be that someone might feel that their job
takes advantage of them and therefore, that person decides to quit the job and look for another
job if they think that they could get a better job for the same about of effort. An example of this
explanations is that my co worker, who worked with me at Taco Bell decides to quit her job at
Taco Bell because she felt that there was just too much work and the customers are mean. Instead

26. A Sorrowful Woman Short Story
Romance novels are typically based in a set pattern and Karen van der Zee s A Secret Sorrow is
no exception. Meanwhile, in Gail Godwin s A Sorrowful Woman , the romance aspect is not
nearly as focused on. While A Secret Sorrow is a nice, easy romance novel, the short story A
Sorrowful Woman is a much better example of literature, and portrays a much more unique
message. The two stories differ greatly when compared by their theme, by the role of motherhood
and children, and by how they are written. Theme is almost predictable in most romance novels.
In A Secret Sorrow, the conflict of Faye, the main character, not being able to have children is
easily overcome by the power of love. Faye and her future husband end up adopting children and
having their happily ever after. In other words, the theme is love conquers all. For a romance novel,
this doesn t stray far from the pattern. However, the other story, A Sorrowful Woman , has a
completely different theme. In the story, the woman is sick with an unknown illness and locks
herself away. While she does have a loving, devoted husband who does all he can to care for her
and cheer her up, in the end, she still dies; a sad ending completely unlike the first story. The
husband would give her a sleeping draught (39) to help her sleep, and would take her out to dinner
dressed and ... beautiful again (40). Although the husband was receptive to her needs and

27. Rational Choice Theory Essay
There are three main points that are reinforced in rational choice theory (Cornish and Clarke,
1986). First, it may work better or worse for different types of crime, yet it is thought that there
are rational choices in every type of crime even impulsive and pathologic crimes. Second, the
theory should be applied on a crimespecific basis. Hence, burglaries can t be grouped together in
among residential and commercial categories. Rather, they must be broken into smaller facets such
as public housing burglaries or wealthy residential neighborhoods. Finally, a distinction is made
between criminal involvement and criminal events. Criminal involvement describes how
individuals get involved in crime and further continue or abstain from... Show more content on

The later occurs when a specific offender is deterred from crime through sanctions. Thus, the
benefits and drawbacks of crime have sway with both deterrence and rational choice theories, but
rational choice doesn t make headway for a population as a whole or limit the individual to those
previously punished.
The strengths of the rational choice theory are also seen when comparing it to the routine activity
theory, which proposes that three elements are needed for crime: motivated offenders, suitable
targets, and the absence of capable guardians (Cohen and Felson, 1979). Hence, environmental
conditions must be right for crime to occur. This relates to one similarity of the rational choice
theory, which is the account for situational variables such as the likelihood of punishment (Cornish
and Clarke, 1986). In contrast, routine activity theory doesn t look at why the individual commits
crime (Cohen and Felson, 1979). Instead, this propensity is assumed, while the rational choice
theory looks specifically at the reasons individuals commit offenses.
The broken windows theory reduces the cause of crime to the amount of disorder in a community
(Wilson and Kelling, 1982). Basically, if there are broken windows in buildings it can result in
allowing more vandalism, which leads more riff raff on the streets. This creates a fear for citizens

1.Гљvod
Cannibalism, known also as anthropophagy, is one of the slowly vanishing phenomena of the
modern world. Even if it is necessarily considered taboo from the western perspective, these
practices are in some indigenous societies still part of everyday life. In the past, within some
cultures cannibalism was recognized as a barbarism and as a decline of civilization, modern

4.Amazonia
Many indigenous tribes currently living in the Amazonian jungle can still practice some forms of
cannibalism. An American anthropologist Beth Conclin thoroughly researched cultural habits,
rituals and mortuary practices among Wari. Her monography Consuming Grief can then serve as a
great primary source for analysis of cannibalism.
In the past, amongst Wari people both forms of cannibalism occurred. They practiced warfare
cannibalism as well as mortuary, however, no anthropologist has ever seen it live. Details about the
rituals itself then only come from the informants. (Conklin, 2001) This fact was actually crucial in
the following discussion about denying the existence of cannibalism.
When a Wari person passed away, they left the body to decay for around three days and then they
gathered to hold a ceremony for the deceased. For the closest kin it was forbidden to take part in the
flesh consumption, however, others did this only in order to help them overcome the mourning
phase. This very fact put the community together. (Conklin,

Father Diego DurГЎn was a Dominican priest in Mexico after the Spanish conquest of the Aztec
Empire. He was born in Selville, Spain in 1537 but moved to New Spain as a child. He
originally lived in Texcoco but eventually moved to Mexico City and became a priest in 1556. He
became fluent in the native language Nahuatl and gained the inhabitants trust with his
understanding nature and respect for their culture. He used his experiences and access to first
hand knowledge to write three books, The Ancient Calendar, The History of the Indies of New
Spain, and The Book of Gods and Rites, collectively known as the DurГЎn Codex.
DurГЎn was an advocate for the Aztecs living in New Spain, but he was still a Catholic priest
who saw everything he did through the lense of potential conversion. During his extensive study
of the local culture he came to see the parallels between his faith and indigenous religion as
evidence of Abrahamic religion having been brought to the New World and corrupted by the Devil.
The only way, according to DurГЎn, to truly root out the satanic practices of the Mesoamerican
religions was to understand them. He wrote the DurГЎn Codex to both help that missionary work
and satisfy his own curiosity.

35. The Role Of Women In The Canterbury Tales By Geoffrey Chaucer
The idea of a woman s place in society is as controversial now as it was over six hundred years
ago. Geoffrey Chaucer first explores this in his famous collection of stories The Canterbury Tales.
In Chaucer s tales, he explores the situations of multiple individuals of varying backgrounds in the
medieval time period. Each character tells a story that reveals some aspect of their morality and
personality. Quite often, their tale also reveals their opinion of a certain overlying subject; such is
the case with many character s opinions of women and their place in society. Chaucer has
commonly been described as a feminist and though that is partly true, there is a much more beneath
the surface. Chaucer does not agree with the general... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most controversial aspect of Chaucer s opinion of feminism is his figurative spectrum of the
embodiment of a woman. His depiction of a woman goes from one extreme to the next with no
middle ground. Women in the sense of The Canterbury Talesare either perfect and or outrageously
flawed. Chaucer creates character in the theme of absolutes, both physically and emotionally.
Women are also considered to be either young and beautiful or old and ugly. In The Wife of
Bath s Tale, a knight rapes a young maiden and the queen wants to decide his fate. She gives him
a year to find out what women truly want in life. He finds the answer from an old ugly woman
who agrees only to help if he marries her. When he does, she gives him the option of either
having her as a young and beautiful wife who will not be faithful or as an old and ugly wife who
will be loyal. He tells her that because she is his wife, that the decision belongs to her, but the
only reason he agrees to this trade off in power is because of his newfound resignation. He is
solemn because he thinks he cannot have the ideal wife: young, beautiful, and loyal. In the end of
the Wife of Bath s Tale, she eventually gives him this perfect significant other, which only
undermines the theme of sovereignty and makes readers question whether he truly learned his
lesson or not. One of Chaucer s opinions of women

TELEVISION AS A MEDIUM FOR MODERN DAY MYTHS
Throughout the 1950s and 1960s television programming developed rapidly into more than an
assortment of fact and fiction narratives; it became itself a social text for an increasing population,
functioning as a kind of code through which people gleaned a large portion of their information,
intellectual stimulation, and distraction (Danesi, 240). Since its inception in the mid 1930s, many
of television s programs have become the history of many cultures. French semiotician Roland

The television programs of the 1950s and 1960s sugar coated the typical family and built up the
mythology of a patriarchal family. However, this mythology was challenged by the uprising of
strong, independent, working women. For example, the Fresh Prince of Bel Air (1990) depicted a
clean cut and wealthy family that was black, with a mother that was a professor at a university.
The Cohen family in The O.C. (2003) drama television series represent a wealthy, white family,
with a working mother who is the major bread winner of the family. These shows and many others
portrayed strong, independent women who were attempting to survive, socially and professionally,
in a world that was deconstructing patriarchal structures (Danesi, 230). Strong willed women are
not the only force that is disassembling these traditions. The dysfunctional family is now also
taking into effect. The show Desperate Housewives (2004) demonstrates the increasing number of
families in this period that are separating and losing the traditional value of family . This show
contains cheating spouses, and generally wives who are desperately vying for attention and love. In

There are three types of muscle tissue in the human body. These muscle tissues are skeletal
muscles, smooth muscles and cardiac muscles. Each of these muscle tissues has it very own

to as muscle fibers, these fibers are skeletal muscle fibers, smooth muscle fibers and cardiac muscle

The anatomy of a skeletal muscle fiber is formed during embryonic development. Skeletal muscle

The sarcoplasmic reticulum is a fluid filled system of membranous sacs. This system of sacs is
similar to smooth endplasmic reticulum in non muscle cells. In a relaxed muscle fiber the
sarcoplasmic reticulum store calcium ions, the release of these calcium cells, trigger muscle
contraction.
There are two types of structures which are even smaller, they are known as thick and thin
filaments. The filaments inside of a myofibril do not extend the entire length of a muscle cell,
instead they are arranged in compartments called sarcomeres. The darker middle portion of a
sarcomere is called the A band. The A band extends the entire length of the thick filaments. The A
band is a zone of overlap. The I band is a lighter less dense area that contains the rest of the thin
filaments, but has no thick filaments. A Z disk passes through the center of each I band.
The next form of muscle fiber is smooth muscle fiber, these fibers are considerably smaller than
skeletal muscle fibers. A single smooth muscle fiber is thirty to two hundred micrometers long,

friend s feeling because your friend have the same personality with you. But, if you just have
friend that similar to you, you will never try new things that maybe also wonderful. Everything
would be bored for you because you always do the same thing and try the same thing. For example,
you like to eat ramen only in Ikudo Ichi, and your friend also eat ramen in Ikudo Ichi. Because
both of you have the same taste and habit, you always eat ramen there. You never try to eat ramen
in other restaurants like marugame udon. If you have friend that different from you, you will try

42. The Illusion of Racial Identity Essays
In common sense thought, race is simply a fact: humans are not all alike, there are whites, blacks
and yellows, maybe reds and browns too, and these different kinds are races, and that s just a
feature of the way the world is. However, recent work on the concept of race shows that raceand
race talk can be understood by analogy to what Foucault suggests about psychiatry and mental
illnesscoming into being together: (1) it is now beginning to appear than race and racism came into
existence together as well. It is racism that has made talk of race something that we can take
seriously. A statement attributing intelligence or laziness to a person on the basis of her/ his skin

The distinction Heidegger proposed in Being and Time (4) between several senses of being became
the starting point of existential phenomenology, and the subsequent work of Sartre and deBeauvoir,
on which I will draw in a moment, derives important ideas from it.
Specifically, I want to distinguish between three meanings of being with respect to the meaning of
race , deriving from the discourse of existential phenomenology. With this distinction, I believe it is
possible to gain some insight into the problem of race and the question of truth.
Vorhandenheit and Existenz are Heidegger s words for a distinction between two senses of being ;
Vorhandenheit has come to be known in English as presence at hand , but substantiality is another
way to sum up its meaning. This refers to the kind of being that we attribute to, for instance,
natural phenomena. When we ask what is it? with regard to some natural phenomenon, we are
expecting, and will be satisfied with, an account of what the thing is composed of; this answer
speaks of the object not primarily in terms of its usefulness, its value, its relation to other things, but
primarily in terms of itself independently. In contrast, to name the kind of being that humans have,
Heidegger uses the word existence , and by it he means especially to call attention to the fact of
care:

A business whose ad receives thousands of clicks from sources that have no intention of making
a purchase may run through its marketing budget quickly and have to drop out of the ad game
altogether. Businesses have tried to use click fraud to drive up the cost of competitors ads and
put them at a competitive disadvantage. Google credits customers for invalid clicks. It also has a
system in place to detect click fraud before customers are charged. Google was the object of class
actions suits, where they had to settle out of court for failing to do anything concrete about click
fraud. Yahoo was also subject of class actions for the same reason.
Google s declared code of conduct is Don t be evil , a phrase which they went so far as to include in
their prospectus for their 2004 IPO, noting, We believe strongly that in the long term, we will be
better served as shareholders and in all other ways by a company that does good things for the
world even if we forgo some short term gains.
At its peak in early 2004, Google handled upwards of 84.7% of all search requests on the World
Wide Webthrough its website and through its partnerships with other Internet clients like Yahoo!,
AOL, and CNN. In February 2004, Yahoo! dropped its partnership with Google, providing an
independent search engine of its own. This cost Google some market share, yet Yahoo! s move

1.Reread what chapter two has to say about the importance of history and context to understanding
poetry. Keeping these two aspects in mind, write a paragraph in which you explain what the
following quotations from the poem refer to:
In order to properly understand certain poems, one needs to know the context in which certain
things are said and we need to know about the history about certain things that occur in the poem. In
this particular poem In the shadow of Signal Hill , it is important to know that the poem is about
the apartheid era in South Africa, therefore certain lines places this into context. In line 7: listen to

Repetition is used in order to place an emphasis on what is being repeated. These lines symbolize
and create a very cold and very unpleasant atmosphere in the poem. The poet could have chosen to
repeat these lines because it would emphasize the fact that the apartheid era was a very cold and
harsh time for those who were being oppressed. This is very effective on the meaning of the poem
as it constantly reminds the reader to sympathize with those who were affected and it allows the
readers emotions to stay alive throughout the entire

Ellen Nakashima and Ashkan Soltani (2014), in The ethics of Hacking 101 article focus on how
ethics is related to teaching hacking. Famous university professors teach their student the principle
of hacking but expect from them in return to be ethical in what they do. For example professor

Speed! That s all I think about as I head down the slope. The wind blasts in my face as I race down.
Suddenly, I swerve out of control; I freak out. My skis fall off and I m stuck on a snowy hill
looking down at a steep slope. Fortunately, my dad skis down and stopped a few a feet away from
me. Panicking, I sat down and begin to worry. Yet, my dad eventually straightens me out and shows
me how to get back up, we continue skiing.
This was not my first time skiing. However, I was still a beginner. I still like to go with my dad. He
was a big help to me in learning. Yes, I took lessons every time I went, although he was an equal
help. One of the things he helped me with was how to use the ski poles.

Captivity has been a controversial subject for as long as it has existed. In the past decade,
SeaWorld has been under scrutiny for their killer whale program and the number of incidents
regarding them. Almost as big as a school bus, these animals are incredibly intelligent. Their brain s
are so much larger than humans. One may think that is because they are so massive, but body size
does not determine brain size. Many animals much larger than humans have brains much smaller.
Killer whales even have a center of their brain that processes emotions; humans do not have that.

what Katina was feeling, breaking the deeply rooted bond she had with her child. After the
agonizing event with Katina, SeaWorld had again brought heartbreak to a mother from breeding
with Kohana. Former SeaWorld Trainer John Hargrove wrote a book about SeaWorld and
working there. Hargrove stated, within five years of her stay in Loro Parque, Kohana had given
birth twice and twice had rejected her calves. Her second rejected calf died within its first year.
Kohana was too young when she was separated from Takara to have fully learned what orca
motherhood entails. (Hargrove 156). It is enthralling how SeaWorld has created three horrible
lives; Kohana, who gave birth too young, and her two calves she rejected, one of which whom
died, because SeaWorld wanted to make more money by renting them. These are living creatures
and SeaWorld is treating them as if they are merchandise, renting them across the world, pasting
their faces onto shirts and mugs.

personality, appearance, his wardrobe and his aggressive voice. My father may radiate as a normal
individualwhen approaching him. However; There are an abundance of special characteristics

muscular frame which comes from being an athlete throughout his younger years. His hazel
brown eyes share the stories he has been through, which causes him not to display his straight,
white teeth. His complexion is similar to a dark chocolate dove with not a hint of error. His hair
is curly, thick, and dark brown , which corresponds great with the beard covering his face like

4. RESOLUTION The vision for vital connect program is to create a model for coordinated,
collaborative and coordinated patient care system. This model can be implemented by creating a
well structured and connected province wide health information technology solution. This HIT
solution will consist of following: Provincial clinical information system E referral system
Personal health portal 4.1 Provincial clinical information system EHR is defined in the Health
Information Act (HIA)[4] as the interconnected electronic health information which is developed
to be shared across authorized users in a secure environment . By creating a vast network of
interconnected repositories, EHR will provide a easy access to health information about individual
patients to care, providers. To create a province wide clinical information system, the first challenge
is to connect individual Electronic Medical Records (EMR) that may be concise to a particular
healthcare facility. Currently, more than 1200 standalone EMR systems exist within Alberta Health
Services (AHS), with very few of them interconnected and most of them outdated. The vision to
create a province wide fully connected clinical information system can be fulfilled if all these stand
alone systems are updated and attached to each other to facilitate seamless flow of information and
instructions. There are various advantages to using provincial CIS: Better Patient Care Increased
efficiency Better quality of care

A sanguinary and exhausting ordeal, the Mexican American War greatly influenced New Mexico
because of its many lasting effects. Fought between 1846 and 1848, the relatively short Mexican
American War s effects still resonate in modern times. For New Mexico, the War determined the
region s destiny as well as its future. Some of the most profound effects that the Mexican American
War had on New Mexicoincludes the introduction of its citizens to a new American way of life,
New Mexico s acceptance into the United Statesas a territory and eventually a state, and New

Territory and eventually a state. In mid 1847, President James K. Polk had sent a state
department official by the name of Nicholas Trist to Mexico City to negotiate with Mexican
officials in hopes of forming a peace treaty. Unfortunately for Trist, at the time, the Mexican
government refused to negotiate with Trist or anyone else from the American government.
However, by the later part of the year, after U.S. forces led by General Winfield Scott had battled
their way through Mexico from Veracruz to Mexico City, Mexican officials realized that they
had no choice but to negotiate with Trist. Even though President Polk ordered him to return to
Washington, D.C., Trist stayed in Mexico City to negotiate with Mexican officials. Finally, on
February 2, 1848, Nicholas Trist along with other Mexican officials signed the Treaty of
Guadalupe Hidalgo. The Treaty stated that Mexico would cede about 525,000 square miles of
land in its northern territories, including New Mexico, to the United States, and that it would
recognize the Rio Grande River as the United States southern border. In the Mexican cession,
residents in New Mexico formally became citizens of the United States, instead of Mexico. The

I think it is hard to tell whether Carroll University, as an institution, encourages a successful
learning environment. I am certain that this is an institutional goal for Carroll. However, when we
look at college level education, I get the sense that professors tend to have a little more freedom
(and resources available) when it comes to teaching. This may make it easier for a professor to
adjust a class/classroom as described in this week s reading (Hannah) in order to meet the needs of
his/her students. This, in my mind, makes a successful learning environment much more dependent
on the instructor rather than the institution itself (although the institution can certainly have an
effect on the learning environment). Overall, though, I would

55. Organizational Culture Is The Unspoken, Informal Awareness
Organizational Culture Organizational culture is the unspoken, informal awareness that both
guides employees behaviors, and creates their behaviors, according to Stacey and Triandis (as cited
in Ginter, Duncan, Swayne, 2013, p. 349). We must recognize that there is a causal relationship
between organizational culture and employees actual behaviors. Ginter et al. (2013) explains that
an organization creates mission, vision, and value statements to make clear, to project their image
of who they are, what they want to accomplish, and how employees are expected to behave. When
employees are in agreement with these elements, the organization can say this is their shared
assumptions. On the other hand, shared values represent employees perceptions of how things
should be done, which may or may not, be in harmony with how the organization cares to portray
itself. Whether aligned or misaligned, it is nevertheless the actual behaviors that create
organizational culture. These behavioral patterns can stem from strategies that employees espouse
as a means of surviving in the organization (Cooke Rousseau, as cited in Rovithis et al., 2016, p.2).
This paper discusses the powerful impact an organizational culture can have on strategic
development. Examples are provided on how culture can contribute or hinder success within one
organization, McLean Hospital. McLean Hospital is a psychiatric healthcare organization that uses

Slippery Slope Argument
One of the most controversial topics regarding euthanasia has got to do with the Slippery Slope . It
states that when one exception to the law is followed by more exceptions. There may come a time
when all that was considered unacceptable, will become acceptable. For now only voluntary
euthanasia is legal. According to hypothesis of the Slippery Slope soon non voluntary and
involuntary euthanasia may follow. For example Physician Assisted Suicide(PAS) which was once
a last resort is being considered as a first in many countries.
In Netherlands there has been an increase of 20% of euthanasia cases per year since 2006. In
2005 according to Groningen protocol, euthanasia was allowed on newborns and younger children
who are expected to have no hope of a quality life.
In Belgium there has been a 500% in euthanasia deaths since 2003 to 2012 which is one the rise.
