Prostitution In The Philippines
Prostitution is one of the oldest professions that have widely been practiced around the world, and the
Philippines is no exception to this. With the advent of Spanish colonists in the late 1500s, Filipina
slaves were sold as exotic sex objects or prostitutes to European brothels. During the early 1940s,
many Filipinas in Manila and surrounding towns served as comfort girls to provide sexual favors to
Japanese soldiers of the Japanese Imperial Army serving in the country and in the Pacific region.
Today, with the emergence of information technology and global travel, the age old profession has
begun to operate on a technological scale, and sex workers, mostly young girls, have moved not only
to the big cities but also online. To be specific, a new form of prostitution among Filipina schoolgirls,
called Prosti tuition, has surfaced recently in the country.
Prosti tuition, as the name suggests, is a term used among student sex workers to refer to the use of
prostitution as a means of earning money to send themselves to school. Sometimes called survival sex,
it is sex work that pays for these students tuition fees, school supplies, allowance, cellphone load, and
the like. Typically, the peak season for this tuition payment scheme is during enrollment period or
right before final/periodic exams (Santos, 2014).
Compared to traditional prostitution, what is interesting about prosti tuition is that the personal
services providers (PSPs) or walkers mostly rely on smartphones

The Ethical Obligation Of Witness
There is something fundamental about our humanity that is irrevocably lost when these individuals
perish unheard and these stories fade away unheeded. This tragic alternative disrespects all that is
sacrificed when individuals bear witness to war, and it overlooks all that can be gained when we bear
witness to their stories. The Ethical Obligation to Witness Ideas from the French philosopher
Emmanuel Levinas provide an ethical account of human interaction that is instrumental in elucidating
the importance of bearing witness. In a text, entitled Totality and Infinity: An Essay on Exteriority ,
written in 1961, he asserts that individuals have an ethical obligation when interacting with one
another. Levinas especially emphasizes the power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only are nurses responsible for the physical health of their patients, but they are burdened with an
unwritten an obligation to bettering the emotional health of their patients. This is an incredible and
oftentimes overwhelming role that they are asked to play. It is suggested that there is a moral necessity
for a creation of space, and education to allow nurses to carry out this moral duty of bearing witness to
suffering, disorder, disease, grief, joy, fear and vulnerability with others (Naef, 2006). Bearing Witness
to Lived Trauma: When an individual has lived through a trauma, it is obvious that there is no way to
alter the traumatic actions of the past, however, there is a possibility of mitigating the mental burden
that the past plays in the everyday life of the victim. Listening to the story of another allows listeners
to better understand, and therefore better serve the needs of the victims. In addition, speaking their
story out loud can allow victims to bring forth an experience that has been haunting them in a way that
mitigate s the amplification of emotion that can happen when a story is confined to the space of one s
own mind. As the story transitions from taking sole residence in the memory of an individual to being
shared with others, the survivor is sometime alleviated from a portion of the anxiety resulting from the
trauma, even if only in a small way. There is a cultural desire to fit within the narrative of valid work
that

Essay on Hubble Telescope
The Hubble Space Telescope is one of the most amazing machines in orbit right now. In 1946, an
astrophysicist named Dr. Lyman Spitzer proposed that a telescope in space would reveal better and
clearer images that are even far from earth than any ground telescope. This idea was very extravagant
because no one had yet launched a rocket into outer space. As the US space program excelled quickly
over the early years, Spitzer lobbied NASA and Congress to develop a space telescope. In 1975, the
European Space Agency and NASA began to develop the telescope that would change astronomy for
ever. In 1977, Congress approved funding for the development of the space telescope and NASA
named Lockheed Martin Aerospace Company as the prime contractor ... Show more content on

Scientists came up with a solution to correct the defect in which they came up with a replacement
contact lens called COSTAR. The Corrective Optics Space Telescope Axial Replacement consisted of
several minute mirrors that would intercept the beam of the flawed mirror and relay the corrected
beam to the scientific instruments at the focus of the mirror. The Hubble telescope is a compound
telescope design where light enters the telescope through the opening and bounces off the primary
mirror to a secondary mirror. Then the secondary mirror reflects the light through a hole in the center
of the primary mirror to a focal point behind the primary mirror. At the focal point, half transparent
mirrors distribute the light to the various scientific instruments. The Hubble Telescope mirrors are
made of glass and coated with multiple layers of pure aluminum that are three millionths of an inch
thick and a coat of magnesium fluoride that is one millionth of an inch thick to make them reflect
visible, infra red and ultraviolet light. The primary mirror weighs 1825 pounds and the secondary
mirror weighs in at 27.4 pounds. By looking at the different wavelengths or the spectrum of light from
a celestial object, you can tell many of its properties and features. To do this, the Hubble Telescope is
equipped with various scientific instruments. Each instrument used

Symptoms And Treatment Of Infectious Gastroenteritis
This is a possible diagnosis for our patient. The mean age of diagnosis for IBD is 12.5 and our patient
fit into that age group. The patient is also of Jewish heritage, which has an increase prevalence of IBD.
Furthermore, the patient presents with abdominal pain, low weight, and occult blood in stool that can
be found with CD and UC. Our patient does not have a family history of IBD even though 25% of
children with IBD do, but that does not rule out the diagnosis. Furthermore, our patient does not have
many of the extra GI features of IBD, which include arthralgias and rashes, making this diagnosis less
likely. Finally, an endoscopy was done and no cobblestoning features or pseudopolyps were seen.

Symptoms of vomiting, abdominal pain, headaches, weakness, and diarrhea can occur within one hour
and last less than 24 hours. Diagnosis is through stool culture and treatment is supportive therapy. The
most well known Salmonella infection is Salmonella typhi, which is transmitted through contaminated
food and water. Typhoid fever is divided into 4 stages. In the first stage, symptoms of malaise,
headache and cough develop. In the second stage, high fever, bradycardia, rose spots, crackles in the
lung, hepatosplenomegaly, distended abdomen and loose stools are observed. In the third stage,
intestinal hemorrhage, encephalitis, cyclic fevers are prevalent. In the last stage, the fever starts to
subside. Diagnosis is made through stool culture and the patient is treated through oral rehydration
therapy. Antibiotics like ceftriaxone or ciprofloxacin can also be given. Camplylobacter is another
bacterial cause of gastroenteritis. It is commonly associated with the consumption of contaminated
poultry dish. Patients get diarrhea (loose to bloody), fever and malaise. It is diagnosed through stool
culture. Disease is self limiting, but antibiotics like ciprofloxacin can be given. Yersinia can be
acquired through uncooked meat, contaminated water and milk leading to watery and bloody diarrhea
and fever. It is typically self limiting and does not require antibiotics. Of note, patients with Yersinia

Disadvantages Of Crude Oil
1. Introduction: Crude oil Crude oil is a mixture of molecules bonded together in chains called
hydrocarbons, hydrogen and carbons, and mostly consists of a family of hydrocarbons called alkanes
(CnH2n+2). Figure 1 1 displays a type of hydrocarbon. As a leading product on the global market we
think of crude oil as a valuable substance, but are there more efficient materials, less pollutant
substances and more reliable constituents that can support our future? Crude oil is formed from the
remains of deceased fauna and flora which were compressed under large segments at excessive
pressures and temperatures. Crude oil is known as a non renewable or finite resource and will
eventually deplete making it a limited resource that takes hundreds of years to develop, so finding a
replacement to help transition the reliance on crude oil is crucial. Crude oil is used in a range of
everyday items such as plastics, fuel, heating oil and other important products. If the price of crude oil
rises the prices of fuel, food, clothing, everything rises with it. This could result in a major global
crises but using alternatives would ease or even erase this problem. [1] 2. Industry and producer

in their products because of their qualities, values and properties. For example our food industry. Our
food packaging consists of plastic rapping, containers and bags which is made from

Analysis Of Karjon s Tale
On the way back, the two were discussing what they might do about all that they had discovered.
Karjon was keen to expand his knowledge and discuss with experts in the field. But first he had to find
an expert in this field or at least a similar field. If one did exist. He was reticent to blindly accept the
premise by Murfon that there was no expert in this area. There had to be someone. The Hive could not
be so ignorant about the sky around them to not bother with picking someone to study it.
Murfon s stance was one of caution. He knew that Karjon s insatiable curiosity had got him into
trouble before. The Hive Elders were running out of patience with his endless questions about how
and why the Hive did what they did. Karjon was most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If he is, then why aren t the Elders helping us mine the stuff as well? Besides I got off with another
warning anyway. I did manage to put some doubt into their minds at least. Karjon said with some
pride.
Yes, but it was your last warning. Any more awkward questions to the Information Centre, and you are
going to be demoted down to a cleaner or something, or worse yet, reclamation. It has happened
before you know. So promise me you won t be going to the Centre to pursue this directly.
Murfon was almost pleading but noticed a wry smile on Karjon s face. That was enough to convince
Murfon that Karjon was going to do something. His curiosity had an overwhelming power over his
decision making.
Back at the Hive, Karjon and Murfon immediately sought out Tamblin. He was in his usual area, at the
Rail Area, working on one of the Rails. He crawled out from under it when he saw the familiar feet of
his friends.
Well look what the Drones have sent me. I should send it back. How are you two? Sorry I couldn t see
you this period but this repair job is an emergency. It s the life of an engineer. Tamblin said. He was
glad to see his two friends though.
You ll never guess what we saw at the methane pool? Well, Karjon s special methane pool. The most
amazing sight I have ever seen. You ve got to come out and see it with us. Murfon was almost
exploding with enthusiasm. Karjon was smiling at him.

Raphael Sanzio
RAPHAEL SANZIO
Raphael was one of the most important artists of the Italian Renaissance. Raphael painted and
designed many brilliant pieces of work and the stanzas inside the Vatican. He was a master at such
necessities of modern art such as depth and perspective and the use of light and shadow, and was the
turning point styles of paintings like the use of Madonnas in paintings. Through his short life, Raphael
would make some of the most awe inspiring, beautiful, and influential works of art during the Italian
Renaissance.
Raphael whose full name was Raphael Sanzio, (also known as Raphael Sanzi), was born on April 6th,
1483. He was born in the town of Urbino, Italy, where he would spend his childhood life until he was
11 years old. His ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1508, at the age of 24, Raphael was invited to the Vatican by Pope Julius II. Raphael was
summoned to the Vatican to paint things like stanzas, and was probably recommended to the pope by
Domato Bramante, an architect. He was immediately well liked by the pope and everyone else at the
Vatican due to his personality; Raphael was a nice, gentle, and sensitive individual. As Giorgio Vasari
once said about Raphael, Raphael was so gentle and so charitable that even animals loved him, not to
speak of men. (Ruskin, p. 132)
In order for Raphael to paint stanzas Pope Julius II ordered some old frescoes to be washed away from
the Vatican walls. Although he made many stanzas, he only painted one stanza: the Stanza della
Segnatura. In the other stanzas that Raphael would make, Raphael would sketch the stanzas and his
pupils would paint whatever he sketched. In the Stanza della Segnatura, there was a stanza for each of
the four walls.. Each side represented a topic. The four sides were about theology, poetry, philosophy,
law. Each topic was represented with a painting. Theology was represented by Disputa, poetry by
Parnassus, Jurisprudence represented law, and the extremely famous The School of Athens represented
philosophy. He started working on these stanzas in early 1509 and finished in

Causes And Cure Of Ringworm
Topic: Ringworm
Title: Cause and Cure of Ringworm
Ringworm is an issue that could transpire at any age and time. It makes the influenced zone look
repulsive. Ringworm resembles a little fix on the skin, which has an aroused red ring. It spreads
towards outwards and develops. The region inside the ring is dark and inconsistent. The patch steadily
develops into a vast ring step by step, and consequently it is called ringworm. There are risks that few
times, a few patches would happen anyplace in the skin, particularly for the situation where you get
disease by taking care of a contaminated one.
Introduction:
Ringworm is fundamentally a contagious contamination that happens in the skin. The restorative term
for ringworm is Tinea . The condition is further named for the body s site where the contamination
happens. It would appear that a red aggravated ring with dark textured and sketchy skin inside the

scratch it all the more regularly. It could likewise spread to distinctive individuals who interact with
you on the off chance that you don t deal with your own particular cleanliness and cleanliness of the
things that you use on consistent schedule like towels, garments and articles of clothing, tissue, and so

The Battle Of The Roman Republic
As the Roman Republic found its way into the third and second centuries BC, it could not have
anticipated its level of military engagement nor the number of conflicts it would find itself in over the
next two hundred years. A series of wars allowed the Roman Republic to consolidate power on the
Italian peninsula, emerge as a major force in the Mediterranean area, and lay the groundwork for what
eventually would become the Empire. The series of wars Rome fought had profound impacts on the
political, economic, social and cultural areas of Roman life. Ultimately Rome would emerge as a
powerhouse city with a thriving political system within it, dominate the economic situation in the
region before extending further, and saw the dramatic change of Roman society as it experienced a
cultural influx from foreigners. The series of wars in response to Pyrrhus invasion and the rebellion of
Italian tribes would ultimately lead to the unification of the Republic on the peninsula, as well as
secure a period of reprieve from foreign invasion forces. The recently defeated Samnite tribe in central
Italy resented Roman control and when tensions between the Tarentines and Romans escalated, they
would play a major role in the civil unrest and eventual war. The Romans decision to develop a navy
was met with harsh and immediate response from Tarentum, who also called upon King Pyrrhus of
Epirus to help them engage the Roman forces. Despite his superb and fairly large invasion force, the

Nation Branding-Best Practices Through Sports, Laws and...
Sports:
Another factor of substantial importance which plays an active role in nation branding is how the
country portrays itself in various sports. Before we look in to the aspects of this, excerpts from the
recent interview with Mr Simon Anholt, the brilliantly caustic, not conventions driven and outspoken
nation branding (or as he prefers, policy advisor ) expert, by Germany s Deutschland Magazine about
the relationship between sports and nation branding and sportsmen and nation brands only weeks
ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa is given below in brief. This presents an insight in
to the nation branding as a whole and in to the Sports domain as a measure of enhancing the brand

Hosting the 2006 Soccer World Cup catapulted Germany to the top of the NBI in 2007 and 2008 ...
Yes indeed, but as I predicted, the effect didn t last very long. Enhancing a country s image is a relay
race, not a sprint, and countries need to become obsessive about asking themselves What do we do
next? Germany hasn t followed up on its World Cup success, so people are starting to revert to their
previous beliefs about the country. This always happens and it can only be prevented by projecting a
constant, unbroken stream of dramatic evidence that the country deserves the reputation it desires.
Even in countries where Germany did not previously enjoy a great reputation, the country s image was
massively enhanced after what has gone down in the history books as Germany s summer fairytale .
Does this mean that some elements of the brand essence are in fact very volatile, in other words, nice
weather, high spirits, exciting matches is all it takes to change an image? Is it really that simple?
No, they really aren t volatile at all: quite the contrary. National image is more like a fixed asset than a
liquid capital, and normally can t be changed at all. Nothing could be more difficult than changing any
of these attributes. I have great respect for the way in which Germany managed to move the needle on
its image during the World Cup, in exactly the way it wanted to, but it hasn t been able to make this
sustainable. One must distinguish

Dancing As A World That Did Not Know Dancing Essay
Can you image a world that did not know dancing? When I asked this question to my friends, one of
them answered, how can we have fun without dancing? People dance when they feel comfortable, and
they also can dance when having fun because people, as human beings, have known instinctively that
dancing with rhythm makes them happy. It is interesting that people all already know how to dance.
However, we might not have an idea why people know how to dance, and where the pleasant feelings
that you can get due to dance came from. Without a doubt, dancing was fundamentally not made in the
21st century. It was made and built by ancient people before the birth of the earliest human
civilizations. Dance does not leave behind clearly identifiable physical artifacts such as stone tools,
hunting implements, or cave paintings ( Champion and Thomas, 2). People have danced to pray and
communicate with god, and these dances also have been an important part of ceremonies, rituals,
celebrations, and entertainment. Even though time passed since dancing began, dance is always about
communication among people, and they are required several kinds of dance style to show their
expression. One of the dances which people have handed down from the ancient times is folk dance.
Folk dance is a form of dance developed by a group of people that reflects the traditional life of the
people of a certain country or region. Besides, folk dances, unlike most other dance forms, tend to

Essay On College Drinking
College is often a time of discovery. Students learn educationally along with self exploration. Many
students have not experienced living on their own exclusive of parental regulations. This new
responsibility encompasses self accomplishments, self discovery, and life lessons from mistakes.
Students that go to college often participate in drinking, partying, and binge drinking. This behavior is
frequently excused as what is ordinary of college students. Exploration of college student drinking
behaviors have relied profoundly on samples including majority of Europeans Americans along with a
few minorities students. This study concerns Hispanic students as the majority and their involvement
in alcohol consumption. This study s hypothesis was that both men and women s alcohol consumption
could be anticipated based on acculturation. Furthermore, the study estimated that men regularly
ingest more alcohol and participate in binge drinking compared to women. A public university along
the Texas and Mexico border had 309 students volunteer to participate in the study. The total Hispanic
ethnicity students included in the study was 296. The study wanted to use typical college student so
they eliminated nontraditional students that participated. This resulted in an ultimate total mean age of

Bunch Vs Kant
In the history of philosophers there has been a major span of views and with that a large amount of
agreements and disagreements. From the 18th century until now for example four philosophers in
specific have had similar and contrasting ideas about ethics. Four philosophers that make a great
example of this are Immanuel Kant, David Hume, Friedrich Nietzsche and Charlotte Bunch.
First off, Kant is an ethical theorist that would be considered a deontologist, which is someone who
believes that an action s morality depends on the motive behind it. The other side of the philosophic
view are consequentialist, who believe that the consequences of an action are the more defining of the
action s morality than the intent or motive behind it. Kant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kant believes that the someone Reason we shouldn t do bad is because it s irrational. To Kant being
rational is the very thing that makes us human. Rational thought is the one thing that separates us from
animals and is our biggest tool of being and existence. That being said, being irrational would be
going against the very thing that makes humanity human. That act irrationally in Kant s eyes would be
to act immorally and to act immorally is bad in itself. So as humans our duty to ourselves and the rest
of humanity is to act in a rational, moral fashion. We can achieve that by acting in a way that involves
what Kant considers universal law, which would be act in way that if everyone else in the world acted
in the same fashion the world would be content and a livable place. One example of this is the cutting
in line example, that if everyone cut in line then there would be no lines and everywhere you go you
would end up just fighting your way to the front and this type of society is unfeasible to will yourself
to live there.
Similarly, David Hume Believe we cannot be 100% positive about cause and effect relationships.
These relationships that our mind makes is an inherent trait of humans but Hume believes we can
never truly know if something is the exact effect to a caused event. Just because two events occur one
after the other our minds try to connect the two, but this process is ultimately just assuming that one
caused the other. In addition, because of this we can never definitively say one thing cause the other to

The Pros And Cons Of The Colonization Of Mars
If the human race is to continue for another million years, we will have to boldly go where no one has
gone before, said Stephen Hawking in 2008. The interplanetary migration of our species has been a
stimulating prospect for ages, and, as technology is advancing by the minute, we are only getting
closer to its realization. For this prospect, Mars is the sole candidate. There are many reasons why this
is so, and there are many reasons as to why we should undergo the colonization of Mars now. But why
Mars in particular? Because it is the nearest celestial body that also happens to be very similar to
Earth. A day on Mars only forty minutes longer than a day on Earth, which, to plant and animal life,
would be familiar. Not only that, but Mars axis tilts similarly to how Earth does, which means that
Earth and Mars have similar seasonal patterns. These two aspects would provide colonists familiarity
rather than alienation. Not only this, but Mars is the closest planet to Earth that is potentially
inhabitable. (Venus is closer to Earth than Mars but highly uninhabitable.) Most interestingly, Mars

Private Business Form Comparison Essay
Private Business Form Comparison Introduction In the business world, many distinctions separate one
firm from the next. Competition, products, services provided is not the only factors that differentiate
businesses. Structure and type are another. This paper will discuss and compare the three major forms
of businesses (sole proprietorship, Partnership, and C Corporations) and provide a brief summary of
these three forms. Sole Proprietorship. This form of private business ownership carries the most
simplistic approach, as inherent in the name. One person assumes complete ownership of this business
as well as all financial and decision making responsibilities. It is the easiest to form as a start up and
has the least amount of legal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This same disadvantage, may also pose additional hurdles in the event the business needs to grow,
because the owner s personal credit rating may affect whether lenders will extend credit for the
business operations. Banks tend to be reluctant in financing sole proprietorships, which leaves these
owners seeking assistance from other investors or relying upon personal savings, home equity, or
reinvestment of company profits. Finally, the owner of the sole proprietorship is left to either rely
upon his or her own skill or solicit information through consultations, because they do not likely have
the requisite expertise in every aspect of their business (Kurtz Boone, 2013). Partnership. There are at
least two types of partnerships: general and limited. General partnerships are virtually the same as a
sole proprietorship, with the exception of additional owner(s). They are essentially sharing the
unlimited liabilities of the firm. Most of the benefits and disadvantages are very similar to a sole
proprietorship, except that there is also the oral or written agreement that exists between the partners
(Keown, Martin, Petty, 2014). Limited partnerships are distinguished, in part, by the limited liabilities.
This limitation is provided to at least one or more of the owners, and they are shielded up to the
amount of capital they invest into the business (Keown, Martin, Petty, 2014). These forms also must
have a general partner, who

Sylvia Polish Father
The relationship between the speaker in Sylvia Plath s Daddy and her father is the most complex due
to the difficult situation that is presented. This piece begins with the speaker stating that she is fed up
with the black shoe that she has lived in for thirty years. This is the beginning of an assumed tension
between the speaker and her father that builds throughout the poem. The speaker then goes on to talk
about how she should have killed her father before he left . This is the breaking point of the
relationship between the speaker and her father. This poem shows that the father passed away, most
likely in the speakers youth, before the speaker was ready to let him go. One can assume that the
speaker was trying to earn the approval or maker her father proud and could not ... Show more content

This is a very complex and hard problem to deal with and can be seen in the writing throughout this
poem. The next part of the poem hints at the speaker having a German background which could
suggest that her father is a German immigrant. This could have also contributed to the frustrations that
the speaker and her father faced throughout their years living in a black shoe for a home. The speaker
then goes on to discuss how a polish town was completely destroyed in a war. The speaker repeated
the word war three times which hints that this town has been through more than war, maybe even
three. Now we get more about Germany than just an exclamation in the language. The speaker is
talking about the German tongue, or language, but in a Polish town that has been destroyed by war.
The speaker describes that there are a lot of town in Poland that share the same name so that she will

The Importance Of The Lewis And Clark Expedition
The importance of the Lewis and Clarks expedition for America was immense. It changed the future
country by strengthening the America s claim to the areas north of California which would become
Washington and Oregon. Lewis and Clark had great success which might not have happened without
peaceful cooperation with the Indians. Lewis and Clark proved there was no Northwest Passage but
showed the feasibility of an overland route to the Pacific Ocean. This opened up the area to further
exploration and commercial ventures. The expedition collected the first general survey of plant and
animal life and of the different cultures of the many Native American tribes they met. Lewis and Clark
provided some of the first scientific descriptions of many new species of animals, including the
mountain goat, prairie dogs, antelopes, and grizzly bears, With the details on local wildlife that was
brought back there became great interest in the fur trade. During Lewis and Clark s travel, which was
over eight thousand miles in less than two and a half years, they only lost one member of the
expedition. The Lewis and Clark expedition was a success at a cost of around thirty eight thousand
dollars, in terms of achieving its goals. Lewis and Clark and Corps of Discovery made the expansion
west possible, with expanded knowledge about American Indians, geography, biology. Over the next
two centuries, Americans would travel across the land west to settle new cities, claim new land, and

The And Its Impact On The Future
The man, a little being compared to the Universe, often feels threatened by wars, comets, natural
phenomena and all those dates that contain repeating numbers that seem to bring the end of the world,
but truly the end comes? To this day, many predictions about the end of the world have emerged, but
none has come true, that is why it has always existed and will probably continue to exist that doubt
about what will happen to the world in the future. The end has been predicted by scientists, ancient
civilizations, different religions, and many others. For example, Nostradamus was one of the most
famous scientists that wrote many prophecies and events about the future, his predictions are known
worldwide and have impacted societies; as him, there are other scientists such as Isaac Newton,
Stephen Hawking, and Richard Noone. Moreover, the Mayans, an ancient civilization, known as one
of the most advanced civilizations in the field of mathematics, astronomy, physics and arts; they are
also known for predicting that the world would end of December 21, 2012. Perhaps, this was one of
the most famous prophecies in recent times. Also, different religions such as the Jehovah s Witnesses
has predicted many times the end of the world. The impact of this topic is very well known, many
people have been influenced greatly. Even Hollywood have been carried away by those predictions
and theories, creating movies such as The day after tomorrow or 2012 , where they show what would
happen.

A Rational Review Of The Information Available From Social...
A rational review of the information available from social research on the subject of polygamy starts
with the study of polygamous relationships found in nature. In nature, polygamy is usually the result
of three factors: 1) the scarcity of the male species (polygyny); 2) the need for healthy partners to
propagate the species in societies where disease or lack of food is a concern; 3) the desire for a partner
of higher wealth and/or status. (Golden) In humans, hunter gatherer and tribal societies have typically
been polygamous for all three of these reasons but in our western culture these justifications are rarely
relevant. Regarding the first point, in most cultures in our world today (excepting the Chinese where
population control has skewed the balance), the population is evenly balanced between men and
women, especially in Western cultures. Regarding the need to mate with a healthier specimen, in
Western culture, sickness and disease strike the sexes more or less equally. The third factor, the desire
for a partner of higher wealth and/or status, is still relevant but the advantages of a polygamous
relationship to a wealthy or powerful partner do not necessarily outweigh a more satisfying
relationship to a less powerful partner in a monogamous relationship. It s a matter of choice.
How does rule of law view polygamy and how have they justified its elimination through the legal
process?

The Importance Of Folk And Popular Culture
For one of my cultural visits I went to a Mexican restaurant, El Molcajete, in Geneva, IL. In this
restaurant I observed elements of folk and popular culture which included the music that was playing
there, which was mariachi band music which made the place feel more authentic to Mexico. The
music from the mariachi band was a piece of their folk culture they had, because they used violins,
trumpets, guitarron a spanish guitar used in most Spanish music, and a vihuela a five stringed guitar
with a high pitch. Some of the popular culture that was there was the outfits the servers were wearing
which was a plain old t shirt and some black pants, and it was more popular culture because nowadays
servers wear a shirt and pants that match what the theme or idea of the restaurant is. I categorized the
mariachi band as part of the folk culture because the instruments that they were using were traditional
instruments used in Mexico to produce the Spanish sound. The servers outfits I categorized as popular
culture because of the fact that servers in many restaurants nowadays wear the same clothing that is
casual, making it an element of popular culture. In my opinion I think that the folk elements are seen
around but not practiced in everything that is in the restaurant, due to the exposure to the popular
culture of our world. In the restaurant, some tools or utensils used in the restaurant include a basket
that holds tortillas warm, but does not make them soggy or cold because of a

How To Mummification Process Essay
How To Mummify a Body To start the mummification process the body of the deceased would first be
taken to the place of purification to be cleansed. The body is initially washed with palm wine, and
then rinsed with water of the Nile river. One of the embalmers would then make an incision into the
deceased s left side and remove most of the internal organs to prevent them from decomposing. These
organs are then packed in natron salt in order to dry them out and keep them preserved. At the time the
brain wasn t known to be of any importance or have any function, so a long metal hook was stuck
through the deceased s nose, the brain was crushed and mashed, pulled it out back through the nose
and disposed of. On the contrary, the heart was left in the body because it was believed to be the
center of intelligence and feeling ( Mummification ) and was needed in the afterlife. Before the organs
were wrapped and returned to the body, they were each stored in special canopic jars with different
gods for the corresponding organs. The liver was protected by Imsety, the human looking god; the

body is filled with sawdust, and oiled one last time before being completely wrapped in linen. When

individually. Then the arms and legs are wrapped and between those layers of linen, protective
amulets are placed to protect the deceased s soul in the afterlife, including such amulets as the Isis
Knot , and the plummet . While all this is happening, a priest would say prayers to ward off evil spirits

A Comparison Of Willy Loman And The Silence Of The Lambs
The phrase, I m having an old friend for dinner, when read now, may seem like a completely innocent
phrase; nevertheless, when one realizes this seemingly innocent phrase is actually a quote from
Hannibal Lecter, a cannibal from the movie The Silence of the Lambs, one s opinion of this may
change. This phrase can be classified as a double entendre, or a figure of speech which can be
interpreted in two different ways. Another example of a double entendre is the title of Arthur Miller s
play, Death of a Salesman, because not only does a salesman literally die, but so does the false dream
of becoming one. Within this play lies a spiral of insecurity and arguments between father and son
who both struggle with their self images. In a nutshell, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

resolved if Willy would have listened to Biff s advice to internalize the meaning of himself instead of
searching for validation from others, and to forgive himself for his past failures; even Biff himself
says, He had the wrong dreams. All, all wrong... He never knew who he was. After Biff discovers this
theme, a double meaning of this play is revealed: not only does Willy s suicide represent the death of a
salesman, but Biff s epiphany unearths the metaphorical death of a salesman, or rather, the hollow
dream of becoming something

Critical Film Review Of Titanic
Critical Film Review Introduction Titanic is an action packed romance and epic piece directed and
written by James Cameron against the unfortunate maiden voyage of RMS Titanic. Without a doubt,
Titanic is considered to be the joy and pride of White Star link and the biggest moving object at the
time that was built. It was most luxurious linear of that era, the ship of dreams that ultimately carried
around 1500 people to the death in North Atlantic s ice cold water in the year 1912. Titanic focuses

There were various subconscious and social messaged within the film. One major focus was the
concept of class in 20th century. Thus, class is often signified with in extremely clear approach, from
both narrative of Titanic and narrative of characters itself. Thus, the concept and content of the film is
constructed over the character of Rose and Jack. Through positioning the social rules, Cameron
successfully conveys the differences between the social classes and showed concern over the
interaction of the classes. There various examples that infers the class distinction from starting till the
end of the film (Hall, 1986). Class differences can be seen throughout the film, it was disturbing to see
how upper class members were boarding to the lifeboats at the time when the ship sank whereas the
lower class was left to die. Although one cannot claim that Titanic served any sort of ideology,
however it can may refer to the 1912 ideology from the film. As the unsinkable ship Titanic is the
summation of hegemony and capitalism. Cameron also develops a reference for the defeat and
collapse of capitalism against nature when the ship was sinking and orchestra is still playing the music
sinking in the ocean. While reviewing the scene, all valuable articles and titanic were used as a

International Logistics
Logistics
Logistics is the management of the flow of goods, information and other resources, including energy
and people, between the point of origin and the point of consumption in order to meet the
requirements of consumers (frequently, and originally, military organizations). Logistics involves the
integration of information, transportation, inventory, warehousing, material handling, and packaging,
and occasionally security. Logistics is a channel of the supply chain which adds the value of time and
place utility. Today the complexity of production logistics can be modeled, analyzed, visualized and
optimized by plant simulation software.

Third party logistics(3PL)
Third party logistics involves the utilization of external organizations to execute logistics activities
that have traditionally been performed within an organization itself. According to this definition, third
party logistics includes any form of outsourcing of logistics activities previously performed in house.
If, for example, a company with its own transport facilities decides to employ external warehouse
specialist, this would be an example of third party logistics.
Business logistics
Logistics as a business concept evolved only in the 1950s. This was mainly due to the increasing
complexity of supplying one s business with materials and shipping out products in an increasingly
globalized supply chain, calling for experts in the field who are called Supply Chain Logisticians. This
can be defined as having the right item in the right quantity at the right time at the right place for the
right price in the right condition to the right customer and is the science of process and incorporates all
industry sectors. The goal of logistics work is to manage the fruition of project life cycles, supply
chains and resultant efficiencies.
In business, logistics may have either internal focus (inbound logistics), or external focus (outbound
logistics)

Comparison Between Hunger Games And Hunger Games
Taking the kids from our districts, forcing them to kill one another while we watch this is the Capitol s
way of reminding us how totally we are at their mercy. How little chance we would stand of surviving
another rebellion (19). This quote is from the novel Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It describes
one way that The Capitol suppresses the people of Panem, potentially having two of their friends,
family, and children face off with other kids from a different district. The Capitol is reminding people
that they are dominant and the citizens can do nothing to oppose them. Hunger Games takes place in a
dystopian society where every year, a male and female tribute from ages 12 18 is chosen from each
district, 24 in total, to fight to the death to win food and supplies for their families, and was published
in 2008. Another example of a dystopian novel is Lord of the Flies by William Golding. Published in
1954, this book is about a group of boys from England who become stranded on an uninhabited island
after their plane was struck down, assumably because of a war. How do these books compare if they
were published about 54 years apart? One reason is that they both used fire symbolically. Another
reason is that they both have representations of evil in their books. Another reason that these books
compare is that of the settings in both places. Finally, they both compare because they both have
representations of civility and savagery. Even though these books were published

pogroms are, the major events that occurred in this time period, and what was learned from this time
in history. As Karl Max said, History repeats itself, first as a tragedy, second as a farce. The Jewish

(Doyle Pogroms of 1881) The plan to solve this issue was to use propaganda showing how bad the
Jews were and why they needed to be eliminated. The government s use of propaganda backfired as
violence arose. One example of this, is in Yelizavetgrad City. The rioting became so out of control that
the army had to get involved to break up the fighting. (Doyle Pogroms of 1881) While, the Russians
believed that using military force would stop the people and calm them down just the opposite had
occurred. People began becoming more violent and more people joined in the rioting. This was seen
ten days later in the city of Kiev, an attack that lasted for over three years. (Modern Jewish History) In
this three year time span over 250 attacks occurred around Russia and the citizens of Russia followed
the government s lead as they were adjusting to their new government. (Parkansky 32) To revenge his
brother s death Tsar Alexander III decided to pass harsher laws on the Jews. This is when he passed
the May Laws in 1882. The May Laws took almost all rights away from the Jewish people. Some of
the laws were that only ten percent of Jewish students could attend college, Jews could not trade on
Sundays, and they also had to move away from their local villages and towns. (Joyce 19th Century
Russian Pogroms) The overall plan Alexander III had failed as over two million Jews left Russia to go
to America and the two thirds of the population that stayed in Russia were very influential to taking

Analysis Of Catherine Johnson s Witch Clothing
Catherine Johnson has been with the district attorneys office since the minute she d left law school.
She hadn t wasted a moment of the time she d been given, nor the opportunities which had been
presented to her; indeed she was the youngest assistant district attorney in the Metro office s history,
and the youngest in the state to have handled a case solo. Her fierce attitude and tireless determination
to get justice for the people of the city were undoubtedly well known throughout the legal system, and
despite her youthful looks she had a reputation among the defence firms of the city as a Wolf in lambs
clothing ; a reputation which had at first amused her, but she d grwon to be increasingly proud of.
It had been no surprise that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Striving to take on the dark underbelly of the city, clean up the streets, and destroy those who sought
to peddle vice and gather ill gotten gains.
But ADA Catherine Johnson and the others employed in the service of their fine city were not alone;
the city had it s own small smattering of masked vigilantes, the heroes who did the work that others
feared to do, taking on the various crime families, gangs and consortiums who threatened the city.
Everything was in a fine balance, with those criminals who stayed under the radar avoiding the
attention which could bring them down, but those who transgressed too openly finding themselves in
the crosshairs of dedicated anti organised crime units as well as the vigilantes! Yet while the crime rate
in Metro had been brought under control by the latest administration to run city hall, the city still had
it s underbelly, the stripclubs, drug dealers and corruption which every large city had to deal with.
Catherine Johnson had only ever wanted to put and end to that... and to make her city the kind of place
where people felt safe, and where the sleaze and smut which plagued parts of other towns and cities
were nothing but a nasty memory.
Oh fuck, come on! This is bullshit Catie muttered out loud to herself

Native Hawaiians And Asian Immigrants
In Hawaii, in the 1940 s, Caucasians, or haoles as they were commonly referred to, unfairly targeted
Native Hawaiians and Asians by giving them significantly lower wages. This treatment, along with
other social, economic, and political issues, created the negative atmosphere that led to 1949 Dock
Strike. On the one side of this conflict were the haole controlled companies known as the Big Five :
on the other side were the longshoreman workers made up mostly of Native Hawaiians and Asian
Immigrants. Although Native Hawaiians and Asian Immigrants struggled for decades against the Big
Five, it was the Dock Strike of 1949 and the help of the ILWU (International Longshoremen s and

  • 2. Prostitution In The Philippines Prostitution is one of the oldest professions that have widely been practiced around the world, and the Philippines is no exception to this. With the advent of Spanish colonists in the late 1500s, Filipina slaves were sold as exotic sex objects or prostitutes to European brothels. During the early 1940s, many Filipinas in Manila and surrounding towns served as comfort girls to provide sexual favors to Japanese soldiers of the Japanese Imperial Army serving in the country and in the Pacific region. Today, with the emergence of information technology and global travel, the age old profession has begun to operate on a technological scale, and sex workers, mostly young girls, have moved not only to the big cities but also online. To be specific, a new form of prostitution among Filipina schoolgirls, called Prosti tuition, has surfaced recently in the country. Prosti tuition, as the name suggests, is a term used among student sex workers to refer to the use of prostitution as a means of earning money to send themselves to school. Sometimes called survival sex, it is sex work that pays for these students tuition fees, school supplies, allowance, cellphone load, and the like. Typically, the peak season for this tuition payment scheme is during enrollment period or right before final/periodic exams (Santos, 2014). Compared to traditional prostitution, what is interesting about prosti tuition is that the personal services providers (PSPs) or walkers mostly rely on smartphones ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Ethical Obligation Of Witness There is something fundamental about our humanity that is irrevocably lost when these individuals perish unheard and these stories fade away unheeded. This tragic alternative disrespects all that is sacrificed when individuals bear witness to war, and it overlooks all that can be gained when we bear witness to their stories. The Ethical Obligation to Witness Ideas from the French philosopher Emmanuel Levinas provide an ethical account of human interaction that is instrumental in elucidating the importance of bearing witness. In a text, entitled Totality and Infinity: An Essay on Exteriority , written in 1961, he asserts that individuals have an ethical obligation when interacting with one another. Levinas especially emphasizes the power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only are nurses responsible for the physical health of their patients, but they are burdened with an unwritten an obligation to bettering the emotional health of their patients. This is an incredible and oftentimes overwhelming role that they are asked to play. It is suggested that there is a moral necessity for a creation of space, and education to allow nurses to carry out this moral duty of bearing witness to suffering, disorder, disease, grief, joy, fear and vulnerability with others (Naef, 2006). Bearing Witness to Lived Trauma: When an individual has lived through a trauma, it is obvious that there is no way to alter the traumatic actions of the past, however, there is a possibility of mitigating the mental burden that the past plays in the everyday life of the victim. Listening to the story of another allows listeners to better understand, and therefore better serve the needs of the victims. In addition, speaking their story out loud can allow victims to bring forth an experience that has been haunting them in a way that mitigate s the amplification of emotion that can happen when a story is confined to the space of one s own mind. As the story transitions from taking sole residence in the memory of an individual to being shared with others, the survivor is sometime alleviated from a portion of the anxiety resulting from the trauma, even if only in a small way. There is a cultural desire to fit within the narrative of valid work that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1946, an astrophysicist named Dr. Lyman Spitzer proposed that a telescope in space would reveal better and clearer images that are even far from earth than any ground telescope. This idea was very extravagant because no one had yet launched a rocket into outer space. As the US space program excelled quickly over the early years, Spitzer lobbied NASA and Congress to develop a space telescope. In 1975, the European Space Agency and NASA began to develop the telescope that would change astronomy for ever. In 1977, Congress approved funding for the development of the space telescope and NASA named Lockheed Martin Aerospace Company as the prime contractor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scientists came up with a solution to correct the defect in which they came up with a replacement contact lens called COSTAR. The Corrective Optics Space Telescope Axial Replacement consisted of several minute mirrors that would intercept the beam of the flawed mirror and relay the corrected beam to the scientific instruments at the focus of the mirror. The Hubble telescope is a compound telescope design where light enters the telescope through the opening and bounces off the primary mirror to a secondary mirror. Then the secondary mirror reflects the light through a hole in the center of the primary mirror to a focal point behind the primary mirror. At the focal point, half transparent mirrors distribute the light to the various scientific instruments. The Hubble Telescope mirrors are made of glass and coated with multiple layers of pure aluminum that are three millionths of an inch thick and a coat of magnesium fluoride that is one millionth of an inch thick to make them reflect visible, infra red and ultraviolet light. The primary mirror weighs 1825 pounds and the secondary mirror weighs in at 27.4 pounds. • 9. Disadvantages Of Crude Oil 1. Introduction: Crude oil Crude oil is a mixture of molecules bonded together in chains called hydrocarbons, hydrogen and carbons, and mostly consists of a family of hydrocarbons called alkanes (CnH2n+2). Figure 1 1 displays a type of hydrocarbon. As a leading product on the global market we think of crude oil as a valuable substance, but are there more efficient materials, less pollutant substances and more reliable constituents that can support our future? Crude oil is formed from the remains of deceased fauna and flora which were compressed under large segments at excessive pressures and temperatures. Crude oil is known as a non renewable or finite resource and will eventually deplete making it a limited resource that takes hundreds of years to develop, so finding a replacement to help transition the reliance on crude oil is crucial. Crude oil is used in a range of everyday items such as plastics, fuel, heating oil and other important products. If the price of crude oil rises the prices of fuel, food, clothing, everything rises with it. This could result in a major global crises but using alternatives would ease or even erase this problem. In 1508, at the age of 24, Raphael was invited to the Vatican by Pope Julius II. Raphael was summoned to the Vatican to paint things like stanzas, and was probably recommended to the pope by Domato Bramante, an architect. He was immediately well liked by the pope and everyone else at the Vatican due to his personality; Raphael was a nice, gentle, and sensitive individual. As Giorgio Vasari once said about Raphael, Raphael was so gentle and so charitable that even animals loved him, not to speak of men. (Ruskin, p. 132) In order for Raphael to paint stanzas Pope Julius II ordered some old frescoes to be washed away from the Vatican walls. Although he made many stanzas, he only painted one stanza: the Stanza della Segnatura. In the other stanzas that Raphael would make, Raphael would sketch the stanzas and his pupils would paint whatever he sketched. • 13. The Battle Of The Roman Republic As the Roman Republic found its way into the third and second centuries BC, it could not have anticipated its level of military engagement nor the number of conflicts it would find itself in over the next two hundred years. A series of wars allowed the Roman Republic to consolidate power on the Italian peninsula, emerge as a major force in the Mediterranean area, and lay the groundwork for what eventually would become the Empire. The series of wars Rome fought had profound impacts on the political, economic, social and cultural areas of Roman life. Ultimately Rome would emerge as a powerhouse city with a thriving political system within it, dominate the economic situation in the region before extending further, and saw the dramatic change of Roman society as it experienced a cultural influx from foreigners. The series of wars in response to Pyrrhus invasion and the rebellion of Italian tribes would ultimately lead to the unification of the Republic on the peninsula, as well as secure a period of reprieve from foreign invasion forces. The recently defeated Samnite tribe in central Italy resented Roman control and when tensions between the Tarentines and Romans escalated, they would play a major role in the civil unrest and eventual war. Germany hasn t followed up on its World Cup success, so people are starting to revert to their previous beliefs about the country. Even in countries where Germany did not previously enjoy a great reputation, the country s image was massively enhanced after what has gone down in the history books as Germany s summer fairytale . When I asked this question to my friends, one of them answered, how can we have fun without dancing? People dance when they feel comfortable, and they also can dance when having fun because people, as human beings, have known instinctively that dancing with rhythm makes them happy. It is interesting that people all already know how to dance. However, we might not have an idea why people know how to dance, and where the pleasant feelings that you can get due to dance came from. Without a doubt, dancing was fundamentally not made in the 21st century. It was made and built by ancient people before the birth of the earliest human civilizations. Dance does not leave behind clearly identifiable physical artifacts such as stone tools, hunting implements, or cave paintings ( Champion and Thomas, 2). People have danced to pray and communicate with god, and these dances also have been an important part of ceremonies, rituals, celebrations, and entertainment. Even though time passed since dancing began, dance is always about communication among people, and they are required several kinds of dance style to show their expression. One of the dances which people have handed down from the ancient times is folk dance. From the 18th century until now for example four philosophers in specific have had similar and contrasting ideas about ethics. Four philosophers that make a great example of this are Immanuel Kant, David Hume, Friedrich Nietzsche and Charlotte Bunch. First off, Kant is an ethical theorist that would be considered a deontologist, which is someone who believes that an action s morality depends on the motive behind it. Rational thought is the one thing that separates us from animals and is our biggest tool of being and existence. That being said, being irrational would be going against the very thing that makes humanity human. That act irrationally in Kant s eyes would be to act immorally and to act immorally is bad in itself. So as humans our duty to ourselves and the rest of humanity is to act in a rational, moral fashion. We can achieve that by acting in a way that involves what Kant considers universal law, which would be act in way that if everyone else in the world acted in the same fashion the world would be content and a livable place. • 21. The Pros And Cons Of The Colonization Of Mars If the human race is to continue for another million years, we will have to boldly go where no one has gone before, said Stephen Hawking in 2008. The interplanetary migration of our species has been a stimulating prospect for ages, and, as technology is advancing by the minute, we are only getting closer to its realization. For this prospect, Mars is the sole candidate. There are many reasons why this is so, and there are many reasons as to why we should undergo the colonization of Mars now. But why Mars in particular? Because it is the nearest celestial body that also happens to be very similar to Earth. A day on Mars only forty minutes longer than a day on Earth, which, to plant and animal life, would be familiar. Not only that, but Mars axis tilts similarly to how Earth does, which means that Earth and Mars have similar seasonal patterns. These two aspects would provide colonists familiarity rather than alienation. Not only this, but Mars is the closest planet to Earth that is potentially inhabitable. (Venus is closer to Earth than Mars but highly uninhabitable.) Most interestingly, Mars has sizeable reservoirs of ice mostly beneath its surface, which then could be uprooted and thus usable. No other celestial body within the Sun s liveable boundary (called the Goldilocks zone ) have these conveniences, making Mars the best option for interplanetary habitation. Pursuing Mars colonization now would directly improve modern technology and life. Alexander Kumar explained ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Finally, the owner of the sole proprietorship is left to either rely upon his or her own skill or solicit information through consultations, because they do not likely have the requisite expertise in every aspect of their business (Kurtz Boone, 2013). Partnership. There are at least two types of partnerships: general and limited. General partnerships are virtually the same as a sole proprietorship, with the exception of additional owner(s). They are essentially sharing the unlimited liabilities of the firm. Most of the benefits and disadvantages are very similar to a sole proprietorship, except that there is also the oral or written agreement that exists between the partners (Keown, Martin, Petty, 2014). Limited partnerships are distinguished, in part, by the limited liabilities. • 27. A Rational Review Of The Information Available From Social... A rational review of the information available from social research on the subject of polygamy starts with the study of polygamous relationships found in nature. In nature, polygamy is usually the result of three factors: 1) the scarcity of the male species (polygyny); 2) the need for healthy partners to propagate the species in societies where disease or lack of food is a concern; 3) the desire for a partner of higher wealth and/or status. (Golden) In humans, hunter gatherer and tribal societies have typically been polygamous for all three of these reasons but in our western culture these justifications are rarely relevant. Regarding the first point, in most cultures in our world today (excepting the Chinese where population control has skewed the balance), the population is evenly balanced between men and women, especially in Western cultures. Regarding the need to mate with a healthier specimen, in Western culture, sickness and disease strike the sexes more or less equally. The third factor, the desire for a partner of higher wealth and/or status, is still relevant but the advantages of a polygamous relationship to a wealthy or powerful partner do not necessarily outweigh a more satisfying relationship to a less powerful partner in a monogamous relationship. The music from the mariachi band was a piece of their folk culture they had, because they used violins, trumpets, guitarron a spanish guitar used in most Spanish music, and a vihuela a five stringed guitar with a high pitch. Some of the popular culture that was there was the outfits the servers were wearing which was a plain old t shirt and some black pants, and it was more popular culture because nowadays servers wear a shirt and pants that match what the theme or idea of the restaurant is. After Biff discovers this theme, a double meaning of this play is revealed: not only does Willy s suicide represent the death of a salesman, but Biff s epiphany unearths the metaphorical death of a salesman, or rather, the hollow dream of becoming something ... One major focus was the concept of class in 20th century. Thus, class is often signified with in extremely clear approach, from both narrative of Titanic and narrative of characters itself. Thus, the concept and content of the film is constructed over the character of Rose and Jack. Through positioning the social rules, Cameron successfully conveys the differences between the social classes and showed concern over the interaction of the classes. There various examples that infers the class distinction from starting till the end of the film (Hall, 1986). Class differences can be seen throughout the film, it was disturbing to see how upper class members were boarding to the lifeboats at the time when the ship sank whereas the lower class was left to die. Although one cannot claim that Titanic served any sort of ideology, however it can may refer to the 1912 ideology from the film. • 34. Comparison Between Hunger Games And Hunger Games Taking the kids from our districts, forcing them to kill one another while we watch this is the Capitol s way of reminding us how totally we are at their mercy. How little chance we would stand of surviving another rebellion (19). This quote is from the novel Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It describes one way that The Capitol suppresses the people of Panem, potentially having two of their friends, family, and children face off with other kids from a different district. The Capitol is reminding people that they are dominant and the citizens can do nothing to oppose them. Hunger Games takes place in a dystopian society where every year, a male and female tribute from ages 12 18 is chosen from each district, 24 in total, to fight to the death to win food and supplies for their families, and was published in 2008. Another example of a dystopian novel is Lord of the Flies by William Golding. Published in 1954, this book is about a group of boys from England who become stranded on an uninhabited island after their plane was struck down, assumably because of a war. How do these books compare if they were published about 54 years apart? One reason is that they both used fire symbolically. Another reason is that they both have representations of evil in their books. Another reason that these books compare is that of the settings in both places. Finally, they both compare because they both have representations of civility and savagery. Even though these books were published ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
