Implementation Of A New Operating System
Ava s software company has received a contract to design an operating system which runs and
operates a computer system used to handle stock buying and selling process. Which scheduling
strategy would you recommend for this new operating system? Please support your answer and
provide reasons for it. (10 points)
Ans) In the computer world, multitasking is a method where multiple tasks or processes are performed
during the same period of time that is they are executed concurrently. Multitasking doesn t necessarily
means that multiple tasks are executing at exactly the same instant. As such, more than one
undertaking can be part path through execution in the meantime, and that more than one errand is
propelling more than a time of time is called multitasking, not at all like parallel execution. Operating
system might adopt one of many scheduling strategies, which normally fall into the following
categories:
1) Multiprogramming: In these systems, the running task keeps running until it performs an operation
that requires waiting for an external event or until the running task is forcibly swapped out of the CPU
by the computer s scheduler. These systems are designed to maximize the processor usage.
The above figures show that memory can expand to hold three, four or more programs and switch
among all of them.
2) Time Sharing: In these systems, the running task is required to abandon the processor, either
willingly or by an outside event such as hardware interrupt. Time

Advantages Of Top Up Budgeting
QUESTION 1 In developing an annual budget accompanies may choose to adopt either top down
budgeting approach or bottom up budgeting approach. In the finance ministry bottom down budgeting
was a traditional way used in budget formulation. Top down budgeting came in the 1990s as a
motivation to curb the fiscal deficits in which it lead to fiscal crisis in other countries. Top down
budgeting was found that it helps and manages well the fiscal deficit efficiently unlike bottom up
budgeting approach. Countries like Denmark, Korea Sweden, Australia, Netherlands, and Chile etc
actively use top down budgeting because it helps in getting information for the evaluation of new
initiatives and also in reviewing of programs for monitoring purposes. Sweden adopted top down
budgeting approach because of the series of huge fiscal deficits it used to incur and it came to be that
top down budgeting saved them. Top down budgeting is advantageous since it is done multiyear
unlike bottom down budgeting which is annually. Top down Budgeting saves on time since it has
delegated authority to take care of the budgeting process unlike Bottom down approach which is time
consuming. Bottom up approach ignores economic forecast since it involves ministry by ministry
analysis unlike top down approach which focuses on economic forecast as it is bases more in fiscal
analysis. In top down budgeting there is ownership of proposal whereby the ownership is joint unlike
bottom up approach where the ownership proposal is specific. We are able to see that top down
budgeting is more advantageous to use in budgeting approach. Countries like Netherlands, Chile and
Canada have independent bodies for economic forecast. Since Top down budgeting successes is seen

Comparing Bram Stoker’s Dracula and the 1972 Film...
Bram Stoker s Dracula is not only a classic story of men and monsters, but a dramatic reactionary
work to the perceived threats to Victorian society in nineteenth century England. In modern times
there have been many film adaptations of the novel, each developing a unique analysis or criticism of
the literary text within the framework of the society and time period in which it was created. The 1972
film Blacula is one of the most culturally specific variations on the story of Dracula, and highlights
many of the themes and messages found in Stoker s original text. Among the primary similarities
between the novel and the film is the portrayal of race, sexuality, nationality, and culture, and the
characterization in each work speaks to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dracula is of mixed racial heritage and blood in the whirlpool of European races, a concept which
would have been fearful to the novel s white, upper class English audience. This widespread
xenophobia, a fear and hatred of foreigners, was a reaction by Victorian England to the perceived
threat of outsiders to white genetic purity. Dracula s real threat is not in the physical destruction of
Western Europe, but in the assimilation, reproduction, and infestation caused by the literal and
figurative mixing of his barbarian animal blood with that of the superior English race. The concept of
eugenics, the qualitative and quantitative improvement of the human genome (Galton 99), gained
widespread popularity during Stoker s lifetime and became a prevalent theme in the works of many
authors aiming to make a social commentary or criticism on the invasion of England by foreign
peoples. Adolph Hitler would later adopt eugenic ideals in the intended creation of a master race, one
which victimized many of the same groups and relied upon almost identical anti Semitic imagery as
the earlier Victorian proponents (Hauner 15). Race is a key element in the movie Blacula, in which the
film s eponymous villain is an ancient African prince cursed by Count Dracula to walk the earth for
eternity in search of human blood. Blacula is literally and metaphorically an updated version of the
Transylvanian count, adapted for a primarily

Jean Piaget
Jean Piaget created a framework of cognitive development in a series of four stages: sensorimotor,
preoperational, concrete operational, and formal operational. According to Piaget, the outcome of
learning depends on what cognitive developmental stage the learner is in. For example, you would not
give a calculus problem to a two to seven year old child because they have not yet entered the stage of
formal operation, or abstract, logical thinking. A child must be presented with an environment that
suits their thought. Piaget s first stage, sensorimotor, is from birth to the age of two. In this stage, the
child comprehends the world by coordinating sensory experiences with physical movements. The
focus is put on reflexes instead of cognition due to the fact that in this stage children have not yet
began to enter symbolic thought. This is a stage of experimentation and exploration. The parents
should allow their child to play with toys that make sounds in order to get them to understand cause
and effect relationships. One example is playing Peek a Boo, ... Show more content on

The child begins to represent the world with words and images, this reflects an increase in symbolic
thinking. There are two reasonings in this stage: syncretic and intuitive. The former being a break in
logic and the latter being guessing. This stage is characterized with increased creativity and role play.
Parents should encourage playing make believe characters to express symbolic cognition.
Additionally, the child is egocentric in their world view. To discourage this, the parent should get the
child to mentally place themselves in someone else s position. Children in this stage also have a lack
of knowledge in conservation. They think that if you pour the same amount of liquid from a small cup
to a big cup, the big cup has more. In order to help with this the parent should introduce objects that
change shape such as playdoh and

Cohort Study Alzheimer s Disease
The Canadian Study of Health and Aging performed a large scale cohort study to analyze risk factors
for Alzheimer s disease. In 1991, they selected 6,434 subjects aged
65 and older, all of which lived throughout the ten provinces of Canada; 4,615 were alive for the
follow up study done in 1996. When the study began in 1991, all participants were cognitively normal,
and filled out a questionnaire for Alzheimer s risk factors. Five years later, the remaining participants
received a screening interview and a clinical examination when necessary. The follow up analysis
yielded 194 Alzheimer s cases and 3,894 normal controls. The factors concluded to be significantly
associated with increased risk of Alzheimer s were increasing age, fewer years of ... Show more

If the participants report any previous traumatic brain injuries, they will not be allowed to participate

exercise must be held constant for all subjects. Participants must also agree to take vitamin

Airtel Swot Analysis
I. INRODUCTION
India s two top telecom operators, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio, are locked in a tight competition
which has triggered another round of price war in the industry. But unlike the 3G price war in 2012 or
4G price war in 2016, the new battle isn t about who is offering the lowest price but who can sell for
free and for how long. And then, there s a revived interest in targeting the lower tier of userbase that is
still using the 2G feature phones.
In September, Reliance Jio launched its fourth generation (4G) wireless internet services, that has led
to a financially bleeding battle between telecom operators.

U.S Foreign Aid to Africa
U.S Foreign Aid to Africa Some people speak against U.S foreign aid being sent to Africa for
humanitarian reasons. Others speak out in favor of such actions. All of us have seen the news tickers

Sudan , but what is their government doing about it. Personally, I ve asked myself several founded
inquiries about where is this foreign aid going to and what are some of the achievements being made. I

Almost everything went wrong, but AID kept financing the program long after its failure was evident.
AID paid for the building of eighteen warehouses, but five were not built, three were not finished,
three collapsed, two had their roofs blown off, and three more quickly crumbled owing to serious
structural deficiencies. Fifty four open wells with contaminated water were to be sanitized, but only
nine were actually improved. A hundred mills for grinding grain were to be constructed; the project
managers built and tested one mill, then gave up. The road improvement project repaired less than one
quarter of the roads scheduled for upgrading. Isn t that marvelous? The prospect outlook for U.S
foreign Aid abroad according to 2010 Budget for the U.S Government is as follow, there will be a 10
percent increase on U.S Foreign Aid and the State Department Budget will get a hefty 51.75 billion
dollars in the fiscal year 2010. What the U.S State Department Budget goals are, an estimated $8
billion increase in the annual outlay to the International Monetary Fund, full funding for scheduled
payments to the World Bank, plus a portion of the outstanding arrears to reinforce the U.S.

Panopticon Essay
The author of the essay Panopticism , Michel Foucault gives his opinion on power and discipline in
Panopticism. He describes Jeremy Bentham s Panopticon , a tower in the centre of a room which has
vision to every cell, generalized for prisoners. In simple words, it functioned in maintaining discipline
throughout the jail. It s most distinctive feature was that; prisoners could be seen without ever seeing.
Prisoners would never really know when they are watched and when not. They are always under the
impression that someone is keeping an eye on them continuously and if anything goes wrong, or they
make mistake, they would be punished severely. Since, a prisoner would never know when he/she is
watched, they have to be at their best. In a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I can relate this to myself. I go to Harbor Point Gym. It is fairly huge with ample of machines and
cardio equipments. There is another room for people who wants to practice yoga and meditate. While
working out at the gym, I am always guarded about myself being watched by other people, peers
passing by the gym, cameras at the gym etc. it s a human tendency and people really do look and
analyze people. There s always a thought running at the back of my mind what if other people saw me
or made fun of me. This thought makes me behave in a right, well mannered way. Nobody forced me
to behave in a certain way but it was that creepy thought of myself being mocked. I did not just
behaved well but also pushed myself a little extra. Also, there are treadmills kept closer to one another.
This in turn makes one conscious about their selves. This helps me relate to the idea of Foucault s
Panopticon where he describes Visibility as a trap (). What he means by this is, being visible at times
is also a trap. You can be caught anytime if you are doing something incorrect. In my example of a
treadmill, another person also using the treadmill watches you. You are constantly conscious and try to
look what the other person is up to and try to compete him/her. This generates a competitive spirit and
thus, people push themselves in order to prove their selves. It not only enhances your body but also
aids in developing self confidence.

How Language Affects Culture And Woman
Throughout history men have always been consider to be the more dominant and aggressive sex
therefore allowing them to take on more of a powerful and leadership like role amongst their
community. Although this sort of power has been in play for generations it has allowed for woman to
not always be able to express their opinions on a particular subject or be heard by the male population
at all. In today s society we still see many examples of how men are still dominating culture and the
language that surrounds it through the idea of muted group theory and the relationship it has between
men and woman A prime example of how language affects culture and woman are how we still use
certain words to describe objects or people in either a masculine or feminine sense. Words like Mr.
and Mrs. show the title of a person but when it comes to woman it shows their marital status. Whereas
with men it doesn t put emphasis on anything other than their gender. This example in today s society
shows to a sense that woman is sometimes thought of as objects or a piece of property that can be
owned rather than a human being with rights and opinions. Another example of language is when
people refer to professional jobs in the work force or when referring to a group of people by using a
masculine association with each term. The terms policeman, fireman, postman or using the phrase you
guys are all examples of how we as a society use masculine identities to describe a group of people
that can be

...he really thought they did fire to defend themselves. The Bloody Massacre was a killing of five

was also a key event that led to the start of the Revolutionary War. The Boston Massacre occurred on
March 5th, 1770. It was a street fight between American colonists and British soldiers. American
colonists were outraged about the Townshend Acts of 1767, which was an act that allowed the British
to tax the Americans on paper, led, and tea. The British wanted to keep a tight control over the
Americans, so they passed the Quartering Act, which stated that American colonists had to house
British soldiers. Around two hundred colonists surrounded the British soldiers before the fight
occurred. After taunting from the colonists, a British soldier fired into the crowd. An African

The Corruption And Greed That Infested French High Society...
The Pere Goriot, illustrates the corruption and greed that infested French high society during the
Bourbon Restoration. Honore de Balzac who was a right winged conservative, depicts post
revolutionary Paris as a place of corruption, greed, and dysfunctional families. The class system was
more fragile than ever before and if one was willing to do what it takes, they could have the
opportunity to make it into the Parisian Elite. With Feudalism abolished in France, you no longer had
to be born in the first estate to live the lavish life of the social elite. As a steadfast conservative and
opponent of the Revolution, Balzac depicts this new social mobility as something that corrupted
French Society. The Bourbon Restoration allowed for your wealth to be the main factor in what part of
the social strata you belonged, not what family you were born into. The abolition of feudalism coupled
with the emergence of capitalism in France furthermore allowed for people to more easily move up the
social ladder. The social structure was a volatile one, people were making and losing money all the
time and Balzac illuminates on how much people struggle to live lavishly. The fragile social structure
was not liked by conservatives who were used to never having to worry about dropping out of the elite
or people joining it. He illustrates the Parisian people as pitiless, selfish, and egocentric. Not only does
he show that the Parisian elite were cold blooded people who only cared about money and

Controlling, HR Management, Warehouse Management and Project System.
Fulfillment, Production and Warehouse management processes are concerned with goods movement
that triggers goods issue that will be further discussed.
Goods Issue
There are four types of goods movement types: goods receipt, goods issue, goods transfer and transfer
posting. Goods issue process plays a key role in fulfillment process (indicating a goods shipment to a
customer s sales order) and production (issuing of raw or semi finished materials to a production
order) and is triggered by warehouse management. Goods issue results in decrease of inventory levels.

Metamorphosis Dilemma
Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis dramatises the concept of alienation and the conflict that arises
with his employer after Gregor s metamorphosis renders him unable to work. Gregor is the victim of a
dispassionate corporate structure, and is trapped in a job which engages only a minute portion of his
personality (Robertson, 57). However, despite his bodily transformation, Gregor remains emotionally
dependent on his role within the capitalist system, rather than recoiling in horror at the insect he has
become: What a fate, to be condemned to work for a firm where the smallest omission at once gave
rise to the gravest suspicion! Were all employees in a body nothing but scoundrels, was there not
among them one single loyal devoted man who...was so tormented by conscience...? (Kafka, 3)
Gregor s dilemma is that he serves the dual role as both a cog in a machine , and as his family s source
of income, and the despair and inconvenience of being trapped in his room heightens his vulnerability
as the chief clerk arrives to investigate the suspicous circumstance (Kafka, 3). Imprisoned by his job
and father s debts, Gregor is invalidated by the business that defines him and alienated by the insect
body that has consumed him. The constraints of Gregor s metamorphosis, as his little legs ...jiggled

The International Conflictss Between The Us And The Ussr
Research Question: How did the international conflictss between the US and the USSR justify Jimmy
Carter s decision to boycott the 1980 Olympics?
Section A: Identification and Evaluation of Sources The first source that has been selected for
evaluation is President Jimmy Carter s speech on the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. The speech was
delivered at 9 pm on January 4, 1980 from the Oval Office at the White House. The speech was
broadcast on live national television and is a primary source. The reason this speech is so prevalent to
this paper is not only because of the content, but because of the reactions that resulted from it that
changed the nation. Within the speech, the President outlines the invasion of Afghanistan, as well as
the repercussions and potential threat the invasion could mean for the United States. The President
also announces during the speech the withdrawal of the US from the Olympics, which causes changes
in nationwide opinions about sports and politics becoming intertwined. The value of this source is that
it is primary, and is the direct words of the President on the matter. The speech also provides important
insight into the thoughts and actions of the President, as well as his mind set at the time in facing the
difficult situation. Besides just the knowledge of the President s ideas, President Jimmy Carter s

What Is Listening And Why Is It Important
What is Listening and why is it important? This paper will address the viewpoint of listening skills
and its outcome. Listening is an essential tool, which is one of the constructive aspects in the
communication process, for communicating with other people. To listen well is a knack that is learned.
However, for people to listen effectively, they would need to practice to obtain the skill. As with any
new skill, learning to listen takes effort, attention, and practice (Stewart, 2006, p. 202).Listening skills
allow people to make sense of and understand what another person is saying. In other words, listening
skills allow you to identify with the meaning of what people are talking about.
Listening skills is a beneficially sensible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How to Listen
The first aspect of listening is to learn how to listen effectively. In today s society, communicating
appropriately has everything to do with listening. Learning to be a good listener will help improve all
relationships both professionally and personally. If people do not know how to listen well, they can
easily be distracted and their mind will start to wander. Since listening plays an essential role in the
communication process, developing listening skills are important because they will help interpret what
the speaker is saying during feedback. In other words, the listener should be able to respond to what
the speaker talked about for clarification purposes. Accordingly, to become a better listener, and
depending on the situation, there are three types of listening strategies that would be beneficial to
ensure effective communication with other people. Hybels and Weaver (2007) states that active
listening, critical listening, and empathic listening are three different tactics that can be used in diverse
situations (p. 92).
For instance, critical listeners focal point is to listen with determination and an open mind. They need
to recognize and expect to learn something new from the speaker and ask questions about their
viewpoints. A second instance is that of empathic listeners. Their center of attention involves listening
with emotion they actually

African American applicants less favorably than European applicants, but also that African Americans

as it is the form of research grounded in the notion that individuals seek understanding of the world in
which they live. Individuals develop subjective meanings of their experiences directed toward certain
objects or things (Creswell, 2014). By utilizing this method, women and girls can gain and

class. Today, however, the standards are very much higher and method those of university degrees. It
is often overlooked that the university year is shorter than college year, and that classes tend to finish
well before examination period; so that, the H.N.D. course duration of some 2000 hours or so is much
the same as that in a full time university degree sequence. The increase in numbers in recent years is
undoubtedly due to the recognition accorded by industry to the merits of the course. Firms have been
able to recruit students unacceptable to the university, and sponsor them on a course which not only
leads to a professional qualification, but which also has a smaller rate and an output capable of
undertaking responsible work without reprocessing. Another advantage is that the study

Whiptail Reproduction
Whiptail Reproduction
Asexual reproduction is one parent reproducing an offspring that are genetically alike. The purpose of
asexual reproduction is so that the reproductive process can go faster without any mistakes. Sexual
reproduction is a combination of genetics from the patents to reproduce an offspring. The purpose of
sexual reproduction is so that evolution can take place from the organism. The animal focus today is
the desert grassland whiptail. The whiptail tail uses asexual reproduction. This whiptail uses the more
beneficial reproduction because fertilization is not needed, so only one parent is involved. Also, their
is a high chance that the offspring would be created successfully.

Carnegie s Embodiment Of The American Dream
Carnegie is a typical rags to riches biography of a real life person and more. The story starts at 1835 in
Scotland where he was born into poor linen weavers, forced into immigrating to America and becomes
the embodiment of the American Dream as the founder of Carnegie Steel. He is still active in his
retirement years working as a peace activist and a philanthropist until the end of his story in 1919. His
life starts in America working odd jobs: from a messenger in the outdoors to a bobbin weaver in a
stuffy factory. Humble beginnings didn t stop him from becoming the richest man in the world. He is

Disadvantages Of Coffee Grinders
Grinding Coffee
The ground coffee is the most suitable coffee to buy. After all, it is accessible everywhere and not
difficult to load into the coffee maker. The ground coffee loses flavor faster than the whole bean
coffee. Also, the fresher your coffee, the more taste, and flavor it will add when it is brewed. It is good
to grind coffee before brewing to provide a more refreshing taste of coffee.
There are two common types of coffee grinders, both with its advantages and disadvantages. They
also have different varieties of grounded coffee ranging from finer grind to coarser grind.
The two types of Coffee Bean Grinders
There are two common types of coffee bean grinders used for personal purpose namely: Burr grinder
and Propeller grinder.
Burr Grinder
The burr grinder makes use of the two serrated discs to grind the beans. All you need to do is to set up
the variety of the grind properties you want (fine or coarse particles), fill up the beans inside the
chamber, and initiate the grinding process. The ground coffee ready to be brewed will be collected
inside the second chamber. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think the first time I make use of a burr grinder the result was not too good because it takes a longer
time to grind. This can be the disadvantage, but presently I make use of the Cuisinart burr grinder that
grinds faster than my old propeller. The main advantage is that a burr grinder produces a uniform
grind. If you use a microscope to view the ground coffee from a burr grinder, you will observe a
homogeneous grind throughout. Consistency is very important to reflect on when processing a good
coffee. This makes a burr grinder an indispensable kitchen gadget that you need to have at

Embedded Journalism and War Reporting

Duffy M.A. May 13, 2012 Embedded Journalism and War Reporting Journalism covers the principles
of reporting in different circumstances such as the time based news as in press conferences or
untimely news of crisis, disasters and conflicts. Even though the reporting objectives are vast, and the
journalists are expected to perform their duties without any fear or bias, it is the responsibility of the
journalists to observe certain ethical considerations. At times, what journalists consider their

In such a scenario, the integrity of the profession of journalism comes into question. Any acts of bias
by the journalists may adversely affect the profession of journalism. Therefore, the question of ethical
considerations takes a very serious turn with regard to war reporting. Journalists need to be sure that
the information being imparted is precise and accurate and it does not disclose any confidential
information. Journalists must also ensure that the sources from which the information is being
collected are credible and the risk of misreporting is acceptably low. Debate on War Journalism The
extent of war journalism is still contentiously debated, and mostly due to the same reasons as
previously mentioned, i.e. Safety, Security and Strategic disclosure. International journalism has
comprehensively dealt with the coverage of war and this is because of the dramatic nature of conflicts.
The trend of sensational reporting has been observed to be on rise in the recent past and this practice
compromises on the professionalism of journalism. As mentioned already, the main objective of
journalists is to impart the true and necessary facts to the media consumers; however, the recent wave
of sensationalism and commercialism has diverted professional journalism in a completely new
direction. Stories which are considered

Summary
Disruptive market, demographic, fiscal, and environmental dynamics are fundamentally reshaping
America s economic landscape. In this new reality, the United States should think of infrastructure not
in the general but in the specific, understanding the ways in which different infrastructure sectors such
as transportation, energy, and water are governed, financed, and delivered. At the same time,
metropolitan areas need to outline their priorities given their distinct economies, competitive
advantages, and infrastructure needs. As public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The United States faces an unprecedented number of economic, demographic, fiscal, and
environmental challenges that compel both the government and the private sector to rethink the way
they do business. While these new forces are incredibly diverse including everything from the shale
gas revolution to renewed consumer preferences for urban living they share one underlying need:
modern, efficient, and reliable infrastructure. Tangible assets made of concrete, steel, and fiber optic
cable are essential building blocks of the American economy. Infrastructure enables global trade,
powers businesses, connects workers to their jobs, creates new opportunities for struggling
communities, and protects America from an unpredictable natural environment. From private
investments in telecommunication systems, broadband networks, freight railroads, energy projects,
and pipelines, to public investments in transportation, water, public buildings, and parks,
America s infrastructure is the backbone of a healthy national economy. Infrastructure also supports
American workers, providing millions of jobs each year to build and maintain the structures and
facilities that power our economy. Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics reveals that approximately
14 million Americans are employed in fields directly related to infrastructure. From locomotive
engineers, electrical power line installers and truck drivers to airline

Tennis Essay
As we all know, America is a nation of sports enthusiasts. Most Americans participate is some kind of
sporting event, either as a spectator or as a competitor. In the pantheon of great American sports, there
is one that stands out. It has been called the great American pastime. Yes, that great sport known as
tennis. Tennis requires a mastery of many skills to be able to play competitively, but the primary skill
needed to win in tennis is the serve. The serve is the primary offensive weapon used I tennis, because
it is the only time when a player gets to put a ball into play. The player controls the speed, the
placement, and the spin of the ball. With proper procedure, the serve can win many points and games

The server should hold the racket in his or her right hand, holding the right arm straight toward the
ground. The racket hand should point in the direction of the net. The server should hold the ball in his
or her left hand, touching the ball to the racket face.
The actual serve motion requires timing and speed. The server should toss the ball straight up into the
air by fully extending his or her left arm. He or she should leave the left arm fully extended to help
sight the ball as it ascends. While the ball is in the air, the server should rotate the racket head so that it
points away from the net, and then bring it straight up so that the frame almost touches the right
shoulder blade. Meanwhile, the server should shift his or her weight to the right leg. Then, as the ball
reaches the height of its ascent, the server should jump up while fully extending his or her right arm
toward the ball and slightly twisting his or her right wrist to bring the racket face into contact with the
ball. Then he or she should continue the forward motion of the racket by following through the stroke,
bringing the racket across the body so that it points toward the ground at the server s left side.
These directions are for a right handed player. A left handed player would use the same technique, but

A Short Note On Cloud Computing And Sensor Networks
1 Introduction 1.1 Overview Nowadays, everything around us is getting smarter, for example, a
smartphone, a smart home, a smart city and so on. Sensors are small, low battery operated devices
which enable this smartness. Data produced from sensors pose a challenge to the traditional
approaches of managing the data and cause towards the emerging paradigm of Big Data. As a
circumstance, there is a requirement for three types of developments. First, technology should be
available through smart devices anywhere and anytime. Secondly, a solution to overcome the
limitations of sensor network framework. Thirdly, intellectual capacity in the applications which uses
the huge data generated through the sensor networks and apply this data for ... Show more content on

standards of care set by the United States Animal Welfare.
II. This is a clear indication that animal abuse is prevalent in U.S. circuses.
III. I feel credible to speak about this because I have conducted research over the past week.
IV. Today I will inform you about how animals performing in circuses are confined and restrained,
show abnormal behaviors, and are mistreated frequently.

III. Circus Animals are forced to perform tricks and mistreated when they do not perform them
correctly.
A. These animals do not naturally perform these tricks they are forced to perform them.
1. In order to train the circus animals, circus trainers physically punish them.
2. The training practices are hidden from the public eye because the circus knows they are disturbing.
B. According to lcanimal.org, animals in the circus are routinely whipped, beaten with long metal
rods, shocked with electric prods, and struck with clubs.
1. Circus trainers often hit elephants with bullhooks.
2. Circus trainers will also break bears noses to teach them to walk on their hind legs.
Conclusion:
Today I have talked to you about the conditions a circus animal lives in, how this effects their health
and how they are treated. In conclusion, baby animals are torn away from their mothers and forced

Invertebrates (animals without a spinal cord) such as the flatworm or planarian can regenerate both the
head from a tail piece, and the tail from a head piece. Among vertebrates (animals with a spinal cord),
fish can regenerate parts of the brain, eye, kidney, heart and fins. Frogs can regenerate the limb, tail,
brain and eye tissue as tadpoles but not as adults. And salamanders can regenerate the limb, heart, tail,
brain, eye tissues, kidney, brain and spinal cord throughout life.
The stem cells that regenerate a frog tail and a salamander limb have very different properties of stem
cells. In these animals, each tissue such as muscle, nerve, or skin has its own set of stem cells that just
make the different types of cells in that particular tissue. In other words, a muscle stem cell cannot
make skin and skin stem cells can t make muscle. These multipotent tissue specific stem cells are
probably very similar to the stem cells in our own bodies that renew or repair tissues such as our skin
or muscle. How do these regenerative animals regrow such complex structures? The answer may be
closer than we

Rick And Morty Advertisement Analysis
Imagine a grandpa barging into his grandson s bedroom at four in the morning while human sized
slobbering hamburgers continue to enter the bedroom. This is the basis of the thirty second Hardee s
commercial aired on youtube and Adult Swim. The ad heavily relies on the comedic factor of the
cartoon characters from the hit TV show Rick and Morty from Adult Swim. The ad uses literal and
arrangement elements, comedy, and the rhetorical triangle to appeal to the audience to get them to
want to dine at Hardee s with their new hamburger. The Hardee s Rick and Morty advertisement starts
with a shot of Morty, the young boy, in his bedroom which is mostly clean but you can see that the

One by one, the life size hamburgers walk in slobbering on the floor. After this segment, a Hardee s
real photo ad of a hamburger shows up briefly. Many literal elements are visible during the cartoon
segment of the video ad. Color is depicted and is for the most part has a range of colors used but the
colors are primarily muted combined with a few pops of reds. Lines are very curved on every living
thing in the cartoon, but lines to depict the room outlines and furniture are straight. Since it is a
cartoon, there is not much texture as a whole except for elements that crease like blankets and
clothing. As for spacing, objects are tightly packed and cluttered, which creates little space especially
after the hamburgers occupy the once open space. Along with literal elements, there are also many
arrangement elements in this commercial. Since the commercial is set in only one room and one angle,
it is in one point perspective. The commercial opens in Morty s bedroom where the audience can only
see three walls to see all the action and Rick flies in and yells and they have dialogue with each other
but never address the audience which makes it in third person. Most of the emphasis is put on the big

Analysis Of Where There s Smoke Theres Fire Patterson
Where there s smoke there s fire by Russell Patterson
Russell Patterson (December 26, 1893 March 17, 1977) was a celebrated and prolific American
cartoonist, illustrator. Patterson s art helped develop and promote the idea of fashion style known as
the flapper in the 1920s and 1930s. Flappers had their own hairstyles and ways of dressing, especially
bobbed hair and short skirts. Flappers were a sign of changing times and more freedom for women to
express themselves. The message that he is trying to express is how women new looks, jobs, and
lifestyle were changing dramatically. His painting shows how women are feeling more confident
about themselves, and start to go outside and have fun rather than staying at home all day and do the
work.
Where there s smoke there s fire by Russell Patterson was painted in 1920s. He used water color on an
illustration board, and it is 45.1 cm by 59.2 cm. The painting has a fashionably dressed flapper with
one hand on her hip and the other hand is holding the cigarette. She has a classic bobbed hair that all
the flapper girls have. The girl is wearing a sexy white dress with pointed high heels. The smoke from
the cigarette does not look like smoke. Her posture seems like a sassy girl with ... Show more content

dark, the space of a shape will stand out. The flapper in the painting also wearing a white skirt, so it
makes her will be the subject matter. The emphasis in the painting is definitely the young woman
because the background is just black and bland, while the young woman is being painted meticulously,

Ethics and Related Philosophies
I. DEFINITION OF ETHICS
Rushworth Kidder states that standard definitions of ethics have typically included such phrases as the
science of the ideal human character or the science of moral duty .
Ethics, sometimes known as philosophical ethics, ethical theory, moral theory, and moral philosophy,
is a branch ofphilosophy that involves systematizing, defending and recommending concepts of right
and wrong conduct, often addressing disputes of moral diversity. The term comes from the Greek
word ἠθικός ethikos from ἦθος ethos, which means custom, habit . The superfield within philosophy
known as axiology includes both ethics and aesthetics and is unified by each sub branch s concern
with value. Philosophical ethics investigates what is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, distinguishing the philosophical beliefs of Socrates from those of Plato and Xenophon
is not easy and it must be remembered that what is attributed to Socrates might more closely reflect
the specific concerns of these thinkers.
The matter is complicated because the historical Socrates seems to have been notorious for asking
questions but not answering, claiming to lack wisdom concerning the subjects about which he
questioned others.
If anything in general can be said about the philosophical beliefs of Socrates, it is that he was morally,
intellectually, and politically at odds with many of his fellow Athenians. When he is on trial for heresy
and corrupting the minds of the youth of Athens, he uses his method of elenchos to demonstrate to the
jurors that their moral values are wrong headed. He tells them they are concerned with their families,
careers, and political responsibilities when they ought to be worried about the welfare of their souls .
Socrates assertion that the gods had singled him out as a divine emissary seemed to provoke irritation,
if not outright ridicule. Socrates also questioned the Sophistic doctrine that arete (virtue) can be
taught. He liked to observe that successful fathers (such as the prominent military general Pericles)

Ethical Issues In Veterinary Clinic
The two ethical issues and concerns in the Veterinary practice I chose have to deal with Convenience
Euthanasia and Low cost Spay/Neuter clinics. Since working at a veterinary clinic over the past few
years these issues where always a concern one way or in another. People would at times have the need
to prematurely say good bye to their pets. If that wasn t strangely enough some people would subject
their pets to a backdoor spay/neuter operation without even being bothered by the pain their pets
would experience as a result. Why would it be by any definition ethical to euthanize a healthy pet?
This is a question that is often debated in the veterinary field. It s clearly not always the ultimate

Now that torch has been handed over to Drew Carey, he now echoes those exact same words. So what
s the big deal you asked? Over the past few years there has been a surge of low cost spay/neuter
clinics springing up, from the back alleys in some states to being propped up at mini malls. Some may
argue the fact that at least the pet owner is doing their part of controlling the pet population but at what
cost to the well being of their beloved pet. Some pet owners are under the impression that private
veterinarians charge more just to make more money whereas the low cost clinic can perform the say
operation at a much lower rate and the quality is the same. Not so true. A spay for your adult
Rottweiler at your local vet hospital can range from $200 to $500 dollars including anesthesia, pain
medication and post operative care. (Low Cost spay/neuter clinics vs. Local Vets, para 9). The price at
a low cost spay clinic the fee may run as low as $30 $50. At a lot of times that cost only covers the
procedure. Pain medication and post operative care is either an option or just not event provided. With
the pet owner not being aware of this their pet quietly suffers. It s been noted and witness that there
are times when a surgical procedure in done at a low cost clinic the pet has a good chance of
experiencing surgical complications. (Low Cost

  • 2. Implementation Of A New Operating System Ava s software company has received a contract to design an operating system which runs and operates a computer system used to handle stock buying and selling process. Which scheduling strategy would you recommend for this new operating system? Please support your answer and provide reasons for it. (10 points) Ans) In the computer world, multitasking is a method where multiple tasks or processes are performed during the same period of time that is they are executed concurrently. Multitasking doesn t necessarily means that multiple tasks are executing at exactly the same instant. As such, more than one undertaking can be part path through execution in the meantime, and that more than one errand is propelling more than a time of time is called multitasking, not at all like parallel execution. Operating system might adopt one of many scheduling strategies, which normally fall into the following categories: 1) Multiprogramming: In these systems, the running task keeps running until it performs an operation that requires waiting for an external event or until the running task is forcibly swapped out of the CPU by the computer s scheduler. These systems are designed to maximize the processor usage. The above figures show that memory can expand to hold three, four or more programs and switch among all of them. 2) Time Sharing: In these systems, the running task is required to abandon the processor, either willingly or by an outside event such as hardware interrupt. • 3. Advantages Of Top Up Budgeting QUESTION 1 In developing an annual budget accompanies may choose to adopt either top down budgeting approach or bottom up budgeting approach. In the finance ministry bottom down budgeting was a traditional way used in budget formulation. Top down budgeting came in the 1990s as a motivation to curb the fiscal deficits in which it lead to fiscal crisis in other countries. Top down budgeting was found that it helps and manages well the fiscal deficit efficiently unlike bottom up budgeting approach. Countries like Denmark, Korea Sweden, Australia, Netherlands, and Chile etc actively use top down budgeting because it helps in getting information for the evaluation of new initiatives and also in reviewing of programs for monitoring purposes. Sweden adopted top down budgeting approach because of the series of huge fiscal deficits it used to incur and it came to be that top down budgeting saved them. Top down budgeting is advantageous since it is done multiyear unlike bottom down budgeting which is annually. Top down Budgeting saves on time since it has delegated authority to take care of the budgeting process unlike Bottom down approach which is time consuming. Bottom up approach ignores economic forecast since it involves ministry by ministry analysis unlike top down approach which focuses on economic forecast as it is bases more in fiscal analysis. In top down budgeting there is ownership of proposal whereby the ownership is joint unlike bottom up approach where the ownership proposal is specific. We are able to see that top down budgeting is more advantageous to use in budgeting approach. Countries like Netherlands, Chile and Canada have independent bodies for economic forecast. • 4. Comparing Bram Stoker’s Dracula and the 1972 Film... Bram Stoker s Dracula is not only a classic story of men and monsters, but a dramatic reactionary work to the perceived threats to Victorian society in nineteenth century England. In modern times there have been many film adaptations of the novel, each developing a unique analysis or criticism of the literary text within the framework of the society and time period in which it was created. The 1972 film Blacula is one of the most culturally specific variations on the story of Dracula, and highlights many of the themes and messages found in Stoker s original text. Among the primary similarities between the novel and the film is the portrayal of race, sexuality, nationality, and culture, and the characterization in each work speaks to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dracula is of mixed racial heritage and blood in the whirlpool of European races, a concept which would have been fearful to the novel s white, upper class English audience. This widespread xenophobia, a fear and hatred of foreigners, was a reaction by Victorian England to the perceived threat of outsiders to white genetic purity. Dracula s real threat is not in the physical destruction of Western Europe, but in the assimilation, reproduction, and infestation caused by the literal and figurative mixing of his barbarian animal blood with that of the superior English race. The concept of eugenics, the qualitative and quantitative improvement of the human genome (Galton 99), gained widespread popularity during Stoker s lifetime and became a prevalent theme in the works of many authors aiming to make a social commentary or criticism on the invasion of England by foreign peoples. Adolph Hitler would later adopt eugenic ideals in the intended creation of a master race, one which victimized many of the same groups and relied upon almost identical anti Semitic imagery as the earlier Victorian proponents (Hauner 15). Race is a key element in the movie Blacula, in which the film s eponymous villain is an ancient African prince cursed by Count Dracula to walk the earth for eternity in search of human blood. Blacula is literally and metaphorically an updated version of the Transylvanian count, adapted for a primarily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Jean Piaget Jean Piaget created a framework of cognitive development in a series of four stages: sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational, and formal operational. According to Piaget, the outcome of learning depends on what cognitive developmental stage the learner is in. For example, you would not give a calculus problem to a two to seven year old child because they have not yet entered the stage of formal operation, or abstract, logical thinking. A child must be presented with an environment that suits their thought. Piaget s first stage, sensorimotor, is from birth to the age of two. In this stage, the child comprehends the world by coordinating sensory experiences with physical movements. The focus is put on reflexes instead of cognition due to the fact that in this stage children have not yet began to enter symbolic thought. This is a stage of experimentation and exploration. The parents should allow their child to play with toys that make sounds in order to get them to understand cause and effect relationships. One example is playing Peek a Boo, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The child begins to represent the world with words and images, this reflects an increase in symbolic thinking. There are two reasonings in this stage: syncretic and intuitive. The former being a break in logic and the latter being guessing. This stage is characterized with increased creativity and role play. Parents should encourage playing make believe characters to express symbolic cognition. Additionally, the child is egocentric in their world view. To discourage this, the parent should get the child to mentally place themselves in someone else s position. Children in this stage also have a lack of knowledge in conservation. They think that if you pour the same amount of liquid from a small cup to a big cup, the big cup has more. In 1991, they selected 6,434 subjects aged 65 and older, all of which lived throughout the ten provinces of Canada; 4,615 were alive for the follow up study done in 1996. When the study began in 1991, all participants were cognitively normal, and filled out a questionnaire for Alzheimer s risk factors. Five years later, the remaining participants received a screening interview and a clinical examination when necessary. The follow up analysis yielded 194 Alzheimer s cases and 3,894 normal controls. If the participants report any previous traumatic brain injuries, they will not be allowed to participate in the study, because traumatic brain injuries are a risk factor for Alzheimer s and therefore could be a confounding variable. INRODUCTION India s two top telecom operators, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio, are locked in a tight competition which has triggered another round of price war in the industry. But unlike the 3G price war in 2012 or 4G price war in 2016, the new battle isn t about who is offering the lowest price but who can sell for free and for how long. And then, there s a revived interest in targeting the lower tier of userbase that is still using the 2G feature phones. All of us have seen the news tickers with vital headlines about people being devastated by droughts in Zimbabwe and unhygienic water in Sudan , but what is their government doing about it. Personally, I ve asked myself several founded inquiries about where is this foreign aid going to and what are some of the achievements being made. AID paid for the building of eighteen warehouses, but five were not built, three were not finished, three collapsed, two had their roofs blown off, and three more quickly crumbled owing to serious structural deficiencies. Fifty four open wells with contaminated water were to be sanitized, but only nine were actually improved. A hundred mills for grinding grain were to be constructed; the project managers built and tested one mill, then gave up. He describes Jeremy Bentham s Panopticon , a tower in the centre of a room which has vision to every cell, generalized for prisoners. In simple words, it functioned in maintaining discipline throughout the jail. It s most distinctive feature was that; prisoners could be seen without ever seeing. Prisoners would never really know when they are watched and when not. They are always under the impression that someone is keeping an eye on them continuously and if anything goes wrong, or they make mistake, they would be punished severely. There s always a thought running at the back of my mind what if other people saw me or made fun of me. This thought makes me behave in a right, well mannered way. Nobody forced me to behave in a certain way but it was that creepy thought of myself being mocked. I did not just behaved well but also pushed myself a little extra. Also, there are treadmills kept closer to one another. This in turn makes one conscious about their selves. This helps me relate to the idea of Foucault s Panopticon where he describes Visibility as a trap (). What he means by this is, being visible at times is also a trap. You can be caught anytime if you are doing something incorrect. In my example of a treadmill, another person also using the treadmill watches you. You are constantly conscious and try to look what the other person is up to and try to compete him/her. This generates a competitive spirit and thus, people push themselves in order to prove their selves. It not only enhances your body but also aids in developing self confidence. ... • 12. How Language Affects Culture And Woman Throughout history men have always been consider to be the more dominant and aggressive sex therefore allowing them to take on more of a powerful and leadership like role amongst their community. Although this sort of power has been in play for generations it has allowed for woman to not always be able to express their opinions on a particular subject or be heard by the male population at all. In today s society we still see many examples of how men are still dominating culture and the language that surrounds it through the idea of muted group theory and the relationship it has between men and woman A prime example of how language affects culture and woman are how we still use certain words to describe objects or people in either a masculine or feminine sense. Words like Mr. and Mrs. show the title of a person but when it comes to woman it shows their marital status. Whereas with men it doesn t put emphasis on anything other than their gender. This example in today s society shows to a sense that woman is sometimes thought of as objects or a piece of property that can be owned rather than a human being with rights and opinions. Another example of language is when people refer to professional jobs in the work force or when referring to a group of people by using a masculine association with each term. Honore de Balzac who was a right winged conservative, depicts post revolutionary Paris as a place of corruption, greed, and dysfunctional families. The class system was more fragile than ever before and if one was willing to do what it takes, they could have the opportunity to make it into the Parisian Elite. With Feudalism abolished in France, you no longer had to be born in the first estate to live the lavish life of the social elite. As a steadfast conservative and opponent of the Revolution, Balzac depicts this new social mobility as something that corrupted French Society. The Bourbon Restoration allowed for your wealth to be the main factor in what part of the social strata you belonged, not what family you were born into. The abolition of feudalism coupled with the emergence of capitalism in France furthermore allowed for people to more easily move up the social ladder. The social structure was a volatile one, people were making and losing money all the time and Balzac illuminates on how much people struggle to live lavishly. The fragile social structure was not liked by conservatives who were used to never having to worry about dropping out of the elite or people joining it. However, despite his bodily transformation, Gregor remains emotionally dependent on his role within the capitalist system, rather than recoiling in horror at the insect he has become: What a fate, to be condemned to work for a firm where the smallest omission at once gave rise to the gravest suspicion! As with any new skill, learning to listen takes effort, attention, and practice (Stewart, 2006, p. 202).Listening skills allow people to make sense of and understand what another person is saying. Learning to be a good listener will help improve all relationships both professionally and personally. If people do not know how to listen well, they can easily be distracted and their mind will start to wander. Since listening plays an essential role in the communication process, developing listening skills are important because they will help interpret what the speaker is saying during feedback. Accordingly, to become a better listener, and depending on the situation, there are three types of listening strategies that would be beneficial to ensure effective communication with other people. Hybels and Weaver (2007) states that active listening, critical listening, and empathic listening are three different tactics that can be used in diverse situations (p. 92). The Hardee s Rick and Morty advertisement starts with a shot of Morty, the young boy, in his bedroom which is mostly clean but you can see that the walls and ceiling are dirty and guck is seeping through it. After this segment, a Hardee s real photo ad of a hamburger shows up briefly. Many literal elements are visible during the cartoon segment of the video ad. Color is depicted and is for the most part has a range of colors used but the colors are primarily muted combined with a few pops of reds. Lines are very curved on every living thing in the cartoon, but lines to depict the room outlines and furniture are straight. Since it is a cartoon, there is not much texture as a whole except for elements that crease like blankets and clothing. As for spacing, objects are tightly packed and cluttered, which creates little space especially after the hamburgers occupy the once open space. Along with literal elements, there are also many arrangement elements in this commercial. Since the commercial is set in only one room and one angle, it is in one point perspective. The commercial opens in Morty s bedroom where the audience can only see three walls to see all the action and Rick flies in and yells and they have dialogue with each other but never address the audience which makes it in third person. • 33. Analysis Of Where There s Smoke Theres Fire Patterson Where there s smoke there s fire by Russell Patterson Russell Patterson (December 26, 1893 March 17, 1977) was a celebrated and prolific American cartoonist, illustrator. Patterson s art helped develop and promote the idea of fashion style known as the flapper in the 1920s and 1930s. Flappers had their own hairstyles and ways of dressing, especially bobbed hair and short skirts. Flappers were a sign of changing times and more freedom for women to express themselves. The message that he is trying to express is how women new looks, jobs, and lifestyle were changing dramatically. His painting shows how women are feeling more confident about themselves, and start to go outside and have fun rather than staying at home all day and do the work. Where there s smoke there s fire by Russell Patterson was painted in 1920s. He used water color on an illustration board, and it is 45.1 cm by 59.2 cm. The painting has a fashionably dressed flapper with one hand on her hip and the other hand is holding the cigarette. She has a classic bobbed hair that all the flapper girls have. The girl is wearing a sexy white dress with pointed high heels. The smoke from the cigarette does not look like smoke. Her posture seems like a sassy girl with ... The darkness of the background and the lightness of the skirt create a contrast between the two. Russell also uses positive space on his painting because when the background is dark, the space of a shape will stand out. The flapper in the painting also wearing a white skirt, so it makes her will be the subject matter. • 34. Ethics and Related Philosophies I. DEFINITION OF ETHICS Rushworth Kidder states that standard definitions of ethics have typically included such phrases as the science of the ideal human character or the science of moral duty . Ethics, sometimes known as philosophical ethics, ethical theory, moral theory, and moral philosophy, is a branch ofphilosophy that involves systematizing, defending and recommending concepts of right and wrong conduct, often addressing disputes of moral diversity. The term comes from the Greek word ἠθικός ethikos from ἦθος ethos, which means custom, habit . The superfield within philosophy known as axiology includes both ethics and aesthetics and is unified by each sub branch s concern with value. Philosophical ethics investigates what is ... Consequently, distinguishing the philosophical beliefs of Socrates from those of Plato and Xenophon is not easy and it must be remembered that what is attributed to Socrates might more closely reflect the specific concerns of these thinkers. The matter is complicated because the historical Socrates seems to have been notorious for asking questions but not answering, claiming to lack wisdom concerning the subjects about which he questioned others. If anything in general can be said about the philosophical beliefs of Socrates, it is that he was morally, intellectually, and politically at odds with many of his fellow Athenians. When he is on trial for heresy and corrupting the minds of the youth of Athens, he uses his method of elenchos to demonstrate to the jurors that their moral values are wrong headed. He tells them they are concerned with their families, careers, and political responsibilities when they ought to be worried about the welfare of their souls . Socrates assertion that the gods had singled him out as a divine emissary seemed to provoke irritation, if not outright ridicule. Socrates also questioned the Sophistic doctrine that arete (virtue) can be taught. He liked to observe that successful fathers (such as the prominent military general Pericles) ... • 35. Ethical Issues In Veterinary Clinic The two ethical issues and concerns in the Veterinary practice I chose have to deal with Convenience Euthanasia and Low cost Spay/Neuter clinics. Since working at a veterinary clinic over the past few years these issues where always a concern one way or in another. People would at times have the need to prematurely say good bye to their pets. If that wasn t strangely enough some people would subject their pets to a backdoor spay/neuter operation without even being bothered by the pain their pets would experience as a result. Why would it be by any definition ethical to euthanize a healthy pet? This is a question that is often debated in the veterinary field. It s clearly not always the ultimate option as far as a lot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now that torch has been handed over to Drew Carey, he now echoes those exact same words. So what s the big deal you asked? Over the past few years there has been a surge of low cost spay/neuter clinics springing up, from the back alleys in some states to being propped up at mini malls. Some may argue the fact that at least the pet owner is doing their part of controlling the pet population but at what cost to the well being of their beloved pet. Some pet owners are under the impression that private veterinarians charge more just to make more money whereas the low cost clinic can perform the say operation at a much lower rate and the quality is the same. Not so true. A spay for your adult Rottweiler at your local vet hospital can range from $200 to $500 dollars including anesthesia, pain medication and post operative care. (Low Cost spay/neuter clinics vs. Local Vets, para 9). The price at a low cost spay clinic the fee may run as low as $30 $50. At a lot of times that cost only covers the procedure. Pain medication and post operative care is either an option or just not event provided. With the pet owner not being aware of this their pet quietly suffers. It s been noted and witness that there are times when a surgical procedure in done at a low cost clinic the pet has a good chance of experiencing surgical complications. (Low Cost ...
