Iran Nuclear Deal Case Study
The Iran Nuclear Deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was
formally adopted on October 18th, 2015 by Iran, Germany, and the UN Security Council consisting
of Britain, China, France, Russia, and the United States. It enabled Iran to peacefully pursue nuclear
program so long as it did not weaponize the program and it removed American sanctions and
European embargos. In recent weeks, President Donald Trump has made efforts to eliminate the
agreement or at least severely limit the program. To regulate the program, the international
agreement states that Iranmust allow its facilities to be searched and monitored periodically by a
team of experts to verify that Iran is keeping within the stipulates of the... Show more content on

Even without nuclear weapons, Iran represents a threat to Americans. With the introduction of the
Iran Nuclear Deal, Iran has been emboldened and arrested several Americans under false pretenses.
A total of four Americans have been detained by the Iranian government since the JCPOA was
implemented (CNN). Others have been detained for having American ties.
Moreover, the UN s International Atomic Energy Agencyrecently admitted that, though they
technically should be able to access all Iranian military sites, they can t actually search military
affiliated sites (Washington Post). Top adviser to Iran s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,
went so far as to call the US s call for further inspections as a dream that would never be possible.
Without access to the military sites, it is impossible to verify that Tehran is implementing the deal.
The United States has no true knowledge about whether Iran is working on the development of
nuclear weapons or not.
It is however known that Iran has aggressively been working towards its ballistic missile program
despite defiance of Security Council resolutions. With the demise of Iranian sanctions, Iran was
free to enter new market. They then invested their proceeds into their ballistic missile program.
Iran acts as a significant threat to close American ally, Israel. It in fact inscribed Israel must be
wiped out in Hebrew on two of its ballistic missile tests

Analyse The Streingths and Weaknesses Of The Boston...
In this essay I will look at the strengths and weaknesses of using the Boston Matrix to help make
decisions in business. I will first briefly explain the Boston Matrix and then analyse its
effectiveness as an aid to making a marketing strategy.
Like Ansoff s matrix, the Boston Matrix is a well known tool for marketing managers. It was
developed by the large US consulting group and is a way that a business can compare all of its
products. The two aspects it looks at are market share (relative to that of competitors) and market
growth. To use it you would look at all of your products and sort them into 4 categories, stars
(products with a high market growth and a high market share), cash cows (high market share in a
market with little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are several advantages and disadvantages of using the Boston Matrix to help make decisions
like this...
Firstly, there is a common assumption that a high market share will automatically mean high
profitability of a product. This isn t always the case, as the costs of development of a product must
be taken into consideration. For example, when Boeing launch a new jet, yes they have a high
market share but they still must cover the extremely high development costs. Although jets are a
very specialised product, it is the same for other more simple products as a large chunk of a
companies resources go on design and research. Also, at the launch of a new product lots of
money must be spent on advertising to ensure that the product does get the market share it
wants. The good thing about this is that if this risk is undertaken, the product may in the future
become a cash cow and the companies will be able to reap the benefits and the product will be
able to support new products. Do you see the cycle that the products follow?, this all links very
closely with the product lifecycle. Of course a company should not just assume that a product will
follow this cycle, there is no guarantee that a product will follow this cycle and a marketing
department would be stupid to assume that a product will. This is another problem with using the
Boston Matrix to make decisions (as it is a problem with all other aspects of marketing), that
markets just aren t that predictable.

Becoming A Penologist
In today s society more and more people are being sentenced to prison. An increase in repeat
convicts has been steadily on the rise. This can strongly be contributed to mental illness, drug
abuse, and most importantly the lack of proper rehabilitation. The idea of prison reform has a
strong significance to me personally because I feel that our current system is not effective in
properly rehabilitating prisoners while they are serving their time. Nor do they effectively prepare
them for their reentry back into society. This is why I am pursuing the career of a Penologist.
Penologyis the study of the punishment of crimeand of prisonmanagement. I wanted to be able to

Kennedy Won The Democratic Convention
Democratic Presidential Nomination On April 30 1960, James Rowe, a Washington Lawyer, gave
$10,000 the campaign of Hubert H. Humphrey (Peters, P. 62). Rowe funded Humphrey s campaign
in hopes that Humphrey would defeat John F. Kennedy. Moreover, Rowe thought that this would
lead to Johnson s path of the presidency (Peters, P. 62) However; it was too late because Kennedy
was dominating the presidential nominations. Instead, Johnson was relying on his running mate
Humphrey to win the Democratic Convention. Ultimately, Johnson hoped that Humphrey would
choose him to be his vice president if Humphrey won the Democratic Convention. Johnson believed
that he was an excellent candidate because of his impressive record as Senate majority leader and
his friendship with powerful Democratic senators (Peters, P. 62). However, Johnson s strategy was
a failure because Humphrey lost to a landslide to Kennedy on May 9, 1960 (Bornet, P. 63)
Ultimately, Kennedy nearly received majority of the votes. Moreover, Kennedy won the
Democratic Convention nomination with 806 votes to 409 (Bornet, P. 64). Kennedy also offered
Johnson the vice presidential nomination in the 1960 nomination. Lastly, Kennedy offered Johnson
the vice president nomination because Kennedy knew that Johnson had a lot of connections in
Washington that could lead to his win in the 1960 presidential election. For instance, Johnson used
his personal connections to help Kennedy win the electoral vote from states that Kennedy

Essay On Community Based Wellness Program
Procedure The proposal for this study was approved by the Institutional Review Board at the
University of Mary. The community based wellness program was designed by the researchers
based on current literature on the effectiveness of such programs with the PD population.
Participants for this study were recruited from a Parkinson s disease support group in the Upper
Midwest. Purposive and convenience sampling was utilized, which involves selecting individuals
who have a diagnosis of PD living in the community and who are willing to volunteer. Participants
all signed informed consent forms prior to the administration of assessments and intervention, and

The People in Night of the Scorpion and My Aunt in...
The People in Night of the Scorpion and My Aunt in Pakistan
Compare the way in which the poet presents the people in Night of the
Scorpion and Presents from my Aunt in Pakistan.
We live in a world of many cultures and each has it is own way of communicating and two very
different poems reflect this. In order to compare and contrast the traditions which have become
apparent within the poems; Night of the Scorpion by Nissim Ezekiel and Presents from my Aunts in
Pakistan by Moniza Alvi, further analysis must take place. With retrospect of the poem Night of the
Scorpion , the content explains the reactions of the villagers and surroundings to an incident
whereby the poet s mother was stung by a scorpion . It is
evident ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The children do not portray the scorpion as a villain; however perceive the invertebrate s sting as a
mere caution for the mother as she advanced towards its hiding place.
In contrast, the adults refer to the scorpion as the evil one displaying signs of little understanding as
to why the scorpion took such drastic actions. It has therefore become apparent that there is a
possible culture divide within the one society.
The selective use of language not only identified Ezekiel s roller coaster of emotions but also
unveils his observations concerning the villagers. Although the neighbours are not clearly analysed
individually, this simply intensifies the effect Ezekiel has on the reader through the use of the
pronoun they . Further reinforcement is clear through the development of a simile comparing the
villagers to Swarms of flies , thus highlighting the irony, as
Ezekiel uses an insect s image to describe the people s reaction to an invertebrate s sting. Through a
combination of tone, alliteration, sound and repetition, Ezekiel adds emphasis to his judgements. It
became thought provoking that Ezekiel took different tones for different aspects of the event. A
prime example of this is pinpointed through Ezekiel s

To Kill A Mocking Bird Analysis
There was more to the book, To Kill A Mockingbird, than let on. The book had symbols and little
lessons. One of those symbols, would be the Mockingbird. The mockingbird is a symbol of
innocence. Although the mockingbird has only mentioned a few times in the story, it was still an
important animal. The people of Maycomb find it a sin to killa mockingbird. The bird doesn t do
anything destructive. Therefore it does not deserve to die. A mockingbird is a symbol of some
and just a bird for others. Those who believe it is a symbol tend to be upstanding and are more
enjoyable, those who don t care for the bird, tend to not be as pleasant.

that killing a Mockingbird is a sin, she also believes that Mockingbirds are innocent birds. In the
story, there are several people that are amusing and kind, but unfortunately, there are also people
that aren t so delightful. Atticus and Miss Maudie are one of the marvelous people. They both
happen to believe that killing a Mockingbird is a sin. The readers can visualize what the moral
values are of the two characters. The sin of killing a mockingbird was probably a saying that
was passed down and told to children for generations. Since the Mockingbird represents
innocence, Atticus and Miss Maudie are basically saying that it is a sin to cast down an
innocent person or animal. That kind of activity forms socially agreeable moral values. Those
noble moral values construct people like Atticus and Miss Maudie undoubtedly charming
people. Their moral values build Atticus and Miss Maudie to become who they are in the book.
Someone like Bob Ewell would be one of the people who look at the Mockingbird as just another
bird. In the story, He is an antagonist kind of. His character shows how different his moral values
are from Atticus and Miss Maudie s. Some people notice the Mocking as innocence, others spot it

Complications During Birth
Chapter four had very interesting information when it came to prenatal care, complications during
birth and, new mothers. The first main point is prenatal care which is very important for the
mother. When the mother is on her first trimester they have many benefits, they will learn on what
they have to eat and what they have to do also what they have to avoid. The second main point, is
the complications of birth. Any birth can be complicated but young mothers can be more at risks
during childbirth. Also by a baby being breech it can cause a emergency c section where the mother

Essay Comparing A Rose For Emily And A Day s Wait
Difficult times cause mental strain for many people. The first method to cope is to try to
maintain control, and the second is to lose all power and spiral into insanity. William Faulkner
explored this topic in A Rose for Emily and Ernest Hemingway in A Day s Wait . Emily Grierson
took the second path while the boy chose the higher road. Both Emily s and the boy s duress
resulted in false beliefs and rash actions.
The young boy s sickness in A Day s Wait caused psychological stress that created a mistaken idea
of his impending death.
The boy s stress stemmed from the notion that his minor epidemic of the flu would cause him to die.
Without overwhelming emotion, the boy asked what time does the man think [he is] going to die
(334). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the thought of his inevitable death, the boy stayed strong with stoic dignity and self control.
While the man tried to reassure the boy, he said he [does not] worry... but [he can not] keep from
thinking about death (334).
Reeling in his emotion, the man remarked that the boy seemed to be holding tight onto himself
about something (334).
The boy tried to remain passive and seemed detached from what was going on (333).
Emily s mental strain caused her sanity to collapse and forced reckless decisions.
Emily s insanity originated from her family and her lack of companionship. Hinting at her insanity,
Emily, when told to pay her taxes, told them to see Colonel Sartoris although he has been dead for
ten years (219).
Emily became crazy without company after her father died and her sweetheart had deserted her
(219).
Her great aunt had gone completely crazy adding another component to her madness (221). Her
father had driven away all the young men leaving Emily without anyone to help her cope with pain
(221).
Instead of reacting with self control, Emily spiraled downward ultimately leading to

Double Strand Breaks In Dna Essay
Abstract:
Double strand breaks in DNA (DSB) constitute one of the greatest threats to cell viability. In
eukaryotes DSBs are mainly repaired thanks to the process called Non homologous end joining
(NHEJ), and consists of the direct ligation of the generated ends after the break without the need
for a template . The objective of this paper is to discuss the different mechanisms available to
correct DSBs in DNA. The components that participate in these repair mechanisms play a
fundamental role in maintaining genomic stability (Specially in NHEJ). Furthermore, these
mechanisms participate in programmed DNA breaks that mediates biological processes such as
V(D)J recombination. During NHEJ the Ku protein binds to the generated ends and lays ... Show

But the intracellular environment offers other dangers to DNA integrity. The largest of these is
oxidation, which in the long run produces more damage than any of the above processes. The
reactions that take place in the mitochondria generate, as oxygen is reduced to water, a series of
highly reactive intermediates. These are reactive oxygen species (ROS): superoxide ion,
hydrogen peroxide and hydroxyl radical (De Bont R, 2004). These species can leave the
mitochondria and oxidize the DNA bases. As a consequence, single strand DNA (ssDNA)
ruptures, double strand breaks (DSB) are generated, and loss of bases or covalent DNA protein
bonds can occur.
Despite its potential dangers to the genome, evolution has created differentiation and development
processes using DSB as intermediates of its recombination reactions. Thus DSBs are generated to
enable recombination between homologous chromosomes during meiosis or as intermediates
during somatic (or V (D) J recombination) and recombination of class switch recombination (CSR)
in lymphocytes (Tonegawa, et al. 1987). At the beginning of meiosis, each chromosome recognizes
its homologue and is placed side by side along the whole length. This arrangement allows the
exchange of DNA between homologous sequences and thus increases the genetic diversity of the
gametes. During the V (D) J and CSR processes ruptures are introduced in a controlled

There Will Come Soft Rain Analysis
Technology is a useful servant, but a dangerous master, a quote said by Christian Lous Lange. I
find it astounding how attached we are to our technological devices.Technology has attached
itself to us and infiltrated our lives. Moreover, we walk around as if technology is cane for us to
lean on. If we aren t careful, we could become too dependent on that cane to the point where it
becomes a wheelchair. Also, in The Veldt, by Ray Bradbury, the children in the story become so
dependent on technology to do everything for them, that they can t even perform basic everyday
tasks without the help of technology. I don t want to believe that this is where society is heading,

Consequently, we are willingly falling into a trap set for us by technology. It is time for us to
decide whether or not we are going to start fighting back or not. Do we want to just become
submissive to technology and let it eat us whole? The differences between the two texts, by Ray
Bradbury, The Veldt and There Will Come Soft Rain are evident, but the similarities are striking.
In the first place, technology is taking over and controlling our lives and one reason why it is, is
because we depend on technology to perform simple tasks for us. In both The Veldt and There
Will Come Soft Rains, the humans of those stories have a deep emotional connection to
technology that they wouldn t know what to do if it was taken away from them. You ve let this

Psychoactive Drugs Alter Consciousness Essay
Awareness of your body as well as the environment is known as consciousness. Psychoactive drugs
alters your consciousness by affecting your perceptions, sensation, attention, judgment, memory, self

Essay On Native American Equality
The matter of equality has always been a hot topic in every avenue of news, in every new stand
and now on every web browser. Some of the earliest stands for equality were rioting in the streets
of London for women s suffrage, and human, rights. Even the pilgrims had to stiff the upper lip
and break away to the New World for religious freedom. No matter the time, equality for one,
always means oppression for another, until the underdog stands and fights. In a recent dispute
over the ownership of Native American remains found in La Jolla, California, a team of scientists
strove to gain custody over the remains in hopes of unearthing a more specific map of how the
first Americans arrived in the North American Continent. However, the Kumeyaay Tribe claimed
custody under the authority of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act of
1990 allowing Native American tribes to claim their history on private or public lands. The
scientists did not give, and appealed to the Supreme Court, but were refused. Now, with a change

At the age of fifteen, my mother had just finished cooking dinner when I noticed her slurred
speech and incoherent sentences. Flustered by the sequence of events, I dialed 911 for help. On
the way to the hospital, I recall one of the EMS personnel shakily exclaim: her blood glucose is

had high levels of blood glucose. Although the prescribed medication resulted in dramatic

I will make recommendations for how this business process can be reengineered in accordance to
the company s values of quality, innovation, and service through Business Process Reengineering
(BPR) (Hammer, 110). BPR is a management approach involving a fundamental rethinking and
radical design of the business process to achieve dramatic improvements in critical contemporary
measures of performance such as cost, quality, service and speed. BPR elevates efficiency and
effectiveness of the company s processes that exist within and across the organizations. The key to
BPR is for the company to examine its business processes from a clean slate perspective and
determine how they can best construct these processes to improve how they conduct business. This
perspective enables the designers of the business processes to dissociate themselves from the
current process and focus on developing a new process.
The goals BPR seeks to accomplish can be achieved by taking steps such as 1) subsuming

Who Is Natasha Preston s Character In The Cellar
Patrica Briggs has it right when she inquires, People do amazing things to ensure their survival.
In Natasha Preston s book The Cellar, she takes readers on an emotional roller coaster ride of
emotions such as excitement, hatred, and sadness all throughout the novel. She tells readers the
story of sixteen year old Summer Robinson s abduction and how she strives to hold on to the will
to survive. Preston perfectly executes Summer s boldest traits of compassion, fearfulness, and
hopefulness. One of the traits Summer displays is her compassion towards others around her.
While locked in the cellar, she finds herself showing a vast amount of compassion towards the
other girls and helps them as much as she possibly can. Summer justifies this by her actions, I

As she is forced to go down into this strange cellar, Summer tries to reason with Clover, Please let
me go. Please. I m not Lily. Please, I begged and gripped the side of my throbbing head. My
whole body shook with fear and I gasped for breath, desperate to get some air into my lungs, (8).
Summer shows fear because she has no clue what is going to happen down there and if she will
make it out alive. Even though Summer s fear grows more and more everyday due to Clover
becoming more violent with the girls she does her best to hide it. Summer shows this by,
Pushing the fear deep down inside me, I pulled the door open and forced myself to smile, (103).
To keep herself from being killed so she has to try to play along with Clovers lifestyle. While
Clover is trying to kill all four of the girls, Summer does not know how to handle herself.
Summer justifies this by stating, I sank to the floor, feeling so scared and alone it made my heart
ache, (150). Once she is down in the cellar for over six months everything becomes too much for

The Tempest Imperialism
The play, The Tempest by William Shakespeare, follows the journey of the magical Prospero and
his search for revenge on those who had victimized him. Stranded on an island for twelve years
with his daughter Miranda and servants Caliban and Ariel, Prospero shipwrecks the men who put
him there by conjuring up a terrible and violent storm from which the play gets its name. Prospero
watches over the shipwrecked group who were responsible for betraying him, including his brother
Antonio, who stole his position of Duke of Milan. The Tempest, written between 1610 and 1611 in
the midst of European expansion and colonization of the Americas, is symbolic of the negative
repercussions associated with imperialism. William Shakespeares The Tempest draws an allusion to
the age of exploration and critiques the effects of colonial expansion through the main characters,
including Prospero and Caliban. The Tempest offers insight into the effects colonial expansion has
on both parties because of the symbolic representation of the main characters and their connection

Not only is Caliban himself a symbol of the mistreatment of Native Americans but his name is
connected to the stereotype that all native tribes practiced cannibalism. The Tempest may be
considered a colonial text because of this and also it raises the question of the occupation of new
lands and the cruel mistreatment of the natives there while critiquing colonial projects such as
Jamestown that were so widely supported by English colonists (Pettigrew). Ultimately the divide
between the relationships of Prospero and Caliban is similar to the divide experienced by colonists
and Native Americans during the 17th century. Much of this has to do with the location and the
appeal it has by the different

Plot Points In Mean Girls
Acts and Plot Points
In class we learned that any script can be built up in to four parts, the parts being Act 1, Act 2,
Act 3, and the Ending. Act 1 is when the hero makes a wrong choice and it brings them to a
decision where they have to act to achieve their goal, it sets up the premise and is the beginning of
the story. Act 2 follows with a series of events that prevent the characterfrom achieving their goal.
Act 3 is when the hero confront their flaw in order to save them. And finally, the ending is an
opportunity for the audience to see what the hero learned through this experience. Every script can
be broken up in to three acts.
The introduction of Mean Girls begins by introducing Cady and setting up her character. We quickly
learn that she is a transfer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(One interesting thing is that the script has four goals, the fourth goal being her skanked out
clothing but the director clearly took out the fourth point. The main reason that I find this so
interesting is because of how prominent the idea of having things in threes is so much more
appealing to audiences.) Throughout the film it becomes evident that this large goal, built up
with three smaller goals is a challenge, but is achievable. Cady struggles with accomplishing it
by having some events set her back but in the end she is able to achieve it. The third part of a
goal is that it needs to have the character using her strengths in order to accomplish her goal.
Well, if Cady s strengths are her kindness, well, this becomes clear when Cady recognizes that she
is in the wrong and becomes self aware of how she has been influenced. She takes this and turns it
around and shows kindness to the other girls at prom as well as to the mathletes. These four points
to the goal are evident throughout the goal, therefore this script has a good goal that the audience
can support in which the protagonist try to

Internet Security And The Security System
Business and people are using Internet for entertainment, e business and e commerce, social
networking, and communication to the people and business, but there have always been threats to
the Internet Security. Internet security is major concern in field of technology, because there are
various personal, business and government data on the Internet. Today every businesses and
organizations have their own securitysystem to reach their goal of information security. Internet
security systems are created to reduce cyber attack risks, reliability, maintain confidentiality, and
compliance with privacy laws and national securitylaws. However security standard that has been
made, and laws brought by government are not more enough to protect Internet Security, so more
advanced security and more strict law by government should be brought in action to protect Internet
Security.
There are different kinds of security standards when integrating security approach in new systems.
Some government agencies and organizations use well established standards while others
companies make their own private security systems. Offsite storage has been beneficial for business
to store data on cloud due to storage constrains. Devanney, the author of Offsite Information

Essay On Tattoos And Tattoos
Discrimination and Tattoos In the past, people used to see people with tattoos as lacking in
character and work ethic. In light of the growing popularity of tattoos in the modern age, people s
opinions have stayed away from that. While the United Kingdom may not be as well known for
heavily tattooed people as other countries in the world, the popularity in the United Kingdom is
growing. Tattoos do not affect a person s character or work ethic; therefore, should not be
discriminated against in the United Kingdom. When most people see a person that is heavily
tattooed, they do not see the typical hard working family man. They see an inked up delinquent or
a drug addict. What they do not think about is that many people love to express... Show more

In the United Kingdom, there are no laws protecting employees from employer discrimination on
the sole basis of body art. During the hiring process, employers can have the most qualified
applicant possible with tattoos, but under current United Kingdom law, they can hire a less
qualified person who has no tattoos. This practice is completely legal without being considered a
form of discrimination. Employers in the United Kingdom stigmatize tattooed applicants and/or
employees work ethic, believing that they will not work as hard and send a negative image to
their clients (Michael). This kind of discrimination is unjust and unethical. The only way a person
can challenge this type of discrimination is if they are directly religious and even then, the
employee would have to go through a strenuous process of actually proving it has direct religious
ties. With the popularity of tattoos in the United Kingdom growing rapidly, many employers are
being forced to cut back on their prejudicial opinions of tattoos. According to the BBC, roughly
twenty percent of the United Kingdom s population has at least one tattoo. Among young adults, the
numbers rise to roughly thirty three percent (Kelly). Some companies will tolerate tattoos with the
exception of above the neck and hand tattoos, which are completely understandable in an
interpersonal business that involves customer service. Still, the problem lies in the professions

Causes Of The London Riots
On August 6th 2011, riots started in Tottenham, London, over the fatal shooting of Mark
Duggan by the police. Protesters attacked the police station and its officers. Over the next 3 days
the rioting, looting, arson, criminal damage and assault rapidly spread throughout London and
England. The speed at which the riots spread caught those in charge off guard so they didn t call
for reinforcements fast enough. This meant there were insufficient numbers of police officers on
the streets to stop the rioters. The police emergency plans already in place to deal with such a
situation were not adapted quickly enough to bring the disorder under control. It took three days
before 16,000 police officers brought an end to the violence. During the London riots it was
important that the strategic team (Gold) were able to use the command and control system to
make the right decisions for the officers on the ground so they could carry out their duties
efficiently and effectively. Officers on the front lines of the riots were dependant on those in
charge keeping them informed on where the riots were breaking out and which streets were safe
for them to use. Due to a major failure in their new communication systems their radios were not
working and at one point those in command had no communication with their operational teams so
they had no idea how many officers were on duty, which led to a lot of confusion as personnel had
no idea which commander they had to report to. Those in charge

using path analysis techniques to assess direct and indirect effects, among the present observed
variables (Arbuckle, 2013). Path analysis, which is based on multiple regressions, examines the
relationship between exogenous (i.e., variablenot causes by another variable, but effects one or
more variablesin model) and endogenous variables (i.e., a variable that is caused or effected by
one or more variables in a model; Iacobucci, 2010). Path models examine the total effects, as well
as the direct and indirect of effects of variables in a single model, simultaneously (Peterson et al.,
2014). Structural equation modeling path analysis techniques are superior to standard regression
analyses in that they: 1) provide more accurate estimates of the effects of hypothesized variables; 2)
estimate all effects simultaneously; 3) allow for greater accuracy of parameter estimates when
examining competing models; and 4) allow the researcher to compare effects of multiple mediators

Childhood Abuse In Eveline
James Joyce s short story Eveline is set in Dublin, Ireland during the turn of the 20th century. The
suffering was of the Irish was immense during this time in history, due to the struggle of against
the English occupation of Ireland. An observation made about Dublin during the early 1900 s was
that the Irish capital is paralysed by Catholicism, by the English imperialism, by grave poverty and
social injustice (Boyson). Irelandwas still reeling from the famine the occurred fifty years earlier.
The great potato famine as it s called, led to mass migration, starvation, and disease. Joyce

An Analysis Of Okonkwo s Things Fall Apart
In Things Fall Apart the novel, Okonkwo was determined to be nothing like his father Unoka,
this strict adherence to masculine standards, (which causes the destruction of his family, creates
dissent in his tribe, and leads him to his death) supports the value of the feminine in Igbo culture.
Though it may seem that women are seen as the weaker sex in Ibgo society, (E., Skwiot personal
comment, August 23, 2016) The novel is set at the end of the twentieth century. It describes in
detail about life in an African culture very different from Western culture. Okonkwo brought
honor to his village by wrestling and putting down Amalinze the Cat, a man that was undefeated
for his wrestling throughout all nine villages of Umuofia. He was quick tempered, he did not
like dealing with unproductive men like his father, who died very much in debt (Achebe, 1994).
However, because of Unoka s laziness and carelessness, the village had thought of him as a
failure and a fool; he was a constant reminder to Okonkwo of how lazy he was. Although, Unoka
had a family to support, he was constantly borrowing money and them wasting it on Palm wine
and celebrating with his neighbors, while his family, done without food to eat. Unoka thought
nothing of his responsibilities, his priority was living his life to the fullest. He played the flute

Can They Hear Me Now Research Paper

30 April 2015 Can They Hear Me Now?
I have listened to myself on video or a voice recording and thought it didn t sound
anything like me. I have also misheard something someone said. I do these things all the time.
Why do these things happen? What is the process of how which we hear? It has to do with the
different parts of the ear. They are the outer ear, middle ear, and inner ear. Each part has a very
important role in the way we hear things. However, our perception of the world around us is
strongly shaped by our expectations. Expectations alter the auditory cortex of your brain and can
change the messages the ear has sent. The outer ear contains the pinna, ... Show more content on

It is pushed inward and outward by the pressure
waves in the ear.
The three middle ear bones (stirrups, hammer, and anvil) are connected to the eardrum
and consequently vibrated when the eardrum oscillates. These bones are called ossicles. All the
energy from the vibrations is centered in other smaller areas of the bones. Once a sound is
produced it stays near the start of the inner ear which is called the cochlea. Inside the inner ear
there is hairs that have nerve cells. Each nerve has a frequency that resonates. It strikes the
cochlear faceplate that sends waves through the cochlea. If the frequency matches
any of the frequencies of the hair cells in the cochlea, those hair cells will vibrate and resonate
with a higher amplitude. This process excites nerve cell so they get rid of electrical impulses to
the brain for processing. That how the ear works but what about things we hear? When people
speak sound travels
through their vocal chords and other parts directed to the cochlea. Your head enhances it to have
a much deeper sound and have a much lower frequency than what you are used to hearing. When
you listen to yourself on recording, the bone conducted pathway that is your normal voice

An Analysis Of Neil Postman s Amusing Ourselves To Death
Amusing Ourselves to Death is a novel written by Neil Postman in 1985, which tries to explore how
television has negatively affected the public discourse in modern America. The novel begins by
examining two different literary visions, one being by George Orwell, warning that America will
become a society, which hides information to keep the population immobilized. However it is
Aldous Huxley s vision that Postman essentially agrees with, envisioning a public that is amused
by irrelevant information, not noticing their immobilization of the world around them. Postman
states, It is a wise and particularly relevant supposition that the media of communication available to
a culture are a dominant influence on the formation of the culture s intellectual... Show more content

First Postman examines how television and the Age of Show Business affect religion and education.
Postman proves religious degradation in the contemporary world through numerous examples of
trivial religious shows present on television. Postman argues that religion, like everything else, is
presented, quite simply and without apology, as an entertainment. Everyone that makes religion a
historic, profound and sacred human activity is stripped away (Postman 4 ). He proves this
argument by explaining that a translation will not have the same desired effect after it is done,
therefore since television is a translation of religion, it is impossible to maintain its same values and
meanings when presented through television. Since he states that the main message of the screen
itself is a continual promise of entertainment (Postman 5 ) proves that religion cannot be taken
seriously through television, due to our expectation of it being entertaining. Similarly to religion,
education through television is presented in the same way. By stating Sesame Street does not
encourage children to love school or anything about school. It encourages them to love television.
(Postman 144) Postman is arguing that due to the numerous educational television programs,
children are associating education with entertainment, and are in no way seeing education as a
serious topic of discourse. CONCLUDING

Methods of Identifying Hazards
Health and Safety in a workplace
What is a hazard?
A hazard is any way damage, harm or anything affecting health at work. Hazards can be caused by
any health effects or by organizations as property or equipment.
What is a risk?
A risk is if a person has a change that they will be harmed due to a hazard. Factors that can affect
the risk are; how much the person has been affected by the hazard and how severe the effects were.
Evaluate the Risk:
For evaluating the risk, the hazards have to be spotted first. By law you have to do everything
reasonably practicable to stop anyone in the workplace from getting an injury while using
equipment. For example when using a pillar drill a plastic transparent cover could be used to
protect the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For adequate PPE employees should wear equipment they have chosen so they are more
comfortable with wearing the PPE, also must be good quality equipment because the products
will last longer and be more reliable. Employees must be trained on how to use the equipment
and to explain why it s needed, and how important the protection is. For example on a
construction site a safety helmet is needed because in case of falling objects flying overhead,
added extras can be added to a safety helmet such as goggles to protect eyes also. Also equipment
such as protected boots with the steel toe caps and penetrate resistant materials, this is good on a
construction site because can stop items falling and damaging or cutting the employees feet, also
can be used with the correct sole to stop slips at work which may cause an injury to the worker.
Risk Assessments:
The first step of any risk assessment is to evaluate the hazards, depending on what type of work
there is, there are many different hazards that needed to be taken into consideration. Also on a
construction site it may not always just be the employees getting harmed, it could be the public,
contractors or visitors. There are many risks that can happen every day and it is very unlikely to be
able to get rid of all the risks from a workplace. The risk assessment should only include what risks
are major and can cause a big problem to the workers. In any risk

a woman that has the potential to expose and challenge a male dominated society. Durrani s

of assumed authority of debauchery and superiority of male culture assist her in dismantling

tens of thousands of investigations were completed in which identified suspects were improperly
accused. These statistics clearly state how DNA testing is extremely important in today s society.

1. How Does RNA Differ From DNA
1) How does RNA differ from DNA? According to the video, RNA is made of nucleotide building
block, but is a single stranded. DNA often exists as a double stranded molecule made of four
building blocks called nucleotides. RNA contains Uracil as DNA contains Thymine. DNA is most
often used to store genetic information, while RNAserves as a host of functions.
2) Name and discuss at least three things does RNA do in the cell, based on what you learned in
the video and the tutorials.
Based on what I ve learned in the video and the tutorials. RNA plays three major roles in the cell as
DNA photocopy (mRNA) as a coupler between the genetic code and the protein building blocks
(tRNA), and as a structural component of ribosomes (rRNA). RNA is much ... Show more content

There is much scientific debate about whether viruses are alive. Like living creatures, they carry
genes and evolve. They are unable to reproduce on their own and must infect living cells and
hijack cellular machinery such as ribosomes to copy themselves. Each virus is like a little tank
that can blast a hole in the outer cell wall and send its forces in. These intruders change the
blueprints in the factory s headquarters so the factory starts producing more viral tanks. It doesn t
stop until it builds so many tanks that the cell bursts right open. Most viruses are little more than
genetic information DNA or RNA inside a protein shell. They bind to a cell and inject their genetic
code inside
9) How does RNA interference help scientists study genes?
Scientists can use the same basic mechanism of RNA interference to turn off one geneat a time and
study the effect on the cell and the organism. For example, turning off one gene may drain all the
pigment out of a purple flower. Another might prevent a plant from producing a toxic chemical,
making it safe to eat. Scientists have not yet determined whether human cells naturally fight
viruses with RNAi, but it is possible that one day we will be able to use RNAi to deactivate cancer
causing genes and genetic disorders.

The Between The Atrium Aspect Ratio Under Different Heat...
Figure ‎2.6 Numerical experiment N.B with fire at atrium at 250 Sec [9]
Figure ‎2.7 Physical model P.M with fire at atrium at 250 Sec. [9]
It was concluded that the height of the atrium and the fan locations have obvious effect on the
efficient abstraction. Atrium with height more than 30 m with exhaust fans located towards the
ends may require attention to control the smoke abstraction efficiently.
Yi, Hou, Li and Feng Chow [13] study the relation between the atrium aspect ratio under different
heat release rate of fire the flooding time flow of smoke occurs and, 32 simulations were performed
using a model, FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator, Version 3). Table 2.4 shows the size of the atrium
and HRR of steady fire. For the all simulations, (3Г—3Г—3) meter fire room was used, the fire was
at the center of the floor of the fire room, and 27 m height atrium. The vents in the fire floor were
both (2Г—1.5) meter with located at 1 m above the floor with 20 oC ambient temperature.
Figure 2.8 listed the early stage situation of the fire in a floor near to an atrium. The fire floor has
2 vertical vents named WA and WB and there are open to both the atrium and outside. The atrium
ceiling is open, and it is assumed that there is an ideal isolation between the atrium and the adjacent
floors.
At fire early stage, the smoke moves to outside and the atrium, and air from outside and the atrium
moves inside the fire floor at the same time from the 2 vents. Figure 2.8 shows the

Cruel Intentions Movie Review
In the film Cruel Intentions, Kathryn Merteuil is portrayed as a manipulative mastermind, who
suffers from the addiction of cocaine. She is prideful of herself on destroying the lives of others
while having the benefit of meeting her own needs. Kathryn comes from a wealthy family. She
portrays herself differently while being in the public eyes; a popular student, a devoted Christian
and a student body president at her prestige s school. She comes off as a lady with moral integrity.
However, Sebastian her stepbrother is the only one who sees past Kathryn s deception and in fact
knows that she s a troublemaker. Throughout the film Kathryn seem have been sufferingfrom a
borderline personality disorder.
I believe criterion 1 is met because she believes that she and her brother are two of a kind but
realistically they are not. For example, at the beginning of the movie, she and her brother are
manipulative and conspire to cruel intentions between seduction and betrayal. They made a bet in
which Sebastian will seduce a virgin name Annette and if Sebastian fails to do so, he will lose his
most valuable possession, his car. And if he succeeds, he would have the pleasure the pleasure to
sleep with Kathryn in whom he has wanted since the day their parents married. Secondly, she can t
seem to have a functional intimate relationship with anyone. As if she only had one purpose for
every person she ran across and that would be sex.
I believe criterion 2 is met because Kathryn has an

Electronic Health Records Research Paper
Electronic Health Records
Implementation of the electronic health records (EHRs) has been a growing trend in the
healthcare field from fear of the unknown to the acceptance of the reality of the EHRs and the
actually utilizing the system. The struggle to go live with the EHR was a challenge because
change is always a difficult implementation. According to Fickenscher Bakerman, (2011) Change
is a process that is individualized base on one s ability to adopt and the interest on the change.
Some people may take longer to understand a process while others will grab the skill within a short
time. However, some few setbacks slow down the adoption of the EHRs when it was first
implemented, Culture, communication and training and time. Despite ... Show more content on

My organization uses Cerner for the computer program and because of this culture change, there
was a close relation with Cerner personnel who were present during go live to help with the smooth
transition. According to Cresswell Sheikh, (2009) having a collaborative relationship with the
designer and the end user is important for the evaluation of the product.
Communication
For change to talk place communication has to be well explicit to it uses for easy understanding.
There were some setbacks in the communication of the change with the EHRs; most nurses did not
really understand why they were moving to the EHR, there was no clear vision and value statement
(Fickenscher Bakerman, 2011). The computer terminologies were a challenge to understand and
apply during the practice session making it difficult for some nurse to follow alone. Some of the
information seems to be different with the fact that there were sessions held in different shift and
repetition of the same information in another way (Fickenscher Bakerman, 2011).
Because of these difficulties with communication, lowering the expectation bar for nurse by
increasing more time for them to understand and practice the skills was implemented Cresswell
Sheikh, (2009). Giving nurse this extra time, took off anxiety and the urges not to rush if a skill
needs to be practiced more. Even though nurses were gradually working

Funeral Service Workers And Funeral Services
A mortician, also known as a undertaker, is a professional involved in the business of funeral rites.
These tasks often are the dressing and burial or cremation of the dead, as well as the planning and
arrangement of the actual funeral ceremony. Together with the family, funeral
service workers
establish the locations, dates, and times of the visitations (wakes), funerals or memorial services,
burials, and cremations. They handle other details as well, such as determining whether the body
should be buried, entombed, or cremated. This decision is critical because funeral practices vary
among cultures and religions.
Most funeral service workers deal with paperwork pertaining to the person s death, including
submitting papers to state officials to receive a death certificate. Some help resolve insurance
claims or apply for veterans funeral benefits on behalf of the family. They also may notify the
Social Security Administration of the death.
A growing number of funeral service workers collaborate with clients who wish to plan their own
funerals in advance to ensure that their needs are met.
Increasingly, funeral service workers also help individuals adapt to changes in their lives following
a death with support groups.
Funeral service managers oversee the general operations of a

Symbolism In John Knowles A Separate Peace
The book, A Separate Peace, by John Knowles can be interpreted more than one way. You can take
it literally, or look into the symbolic meaning of the landmarks of the Devon school, including the
two fearful sites Gene visited in the beginning. As stated in the book by Gene, everything in the
time period revolved around the war. This includes the great symbolism used, so mainly the tree,
the Devon River, and the Naguamsett River. The Devon and Naguamsett Rivers both run through
the campus of Devon. They are exact opposites (pg. 40). The Devon River is clean, freshwater,
and well dammed up. It is described as being a small, narrow river fringed by pine and birch (pg.
42) On the other hand, the Naguamsett River is described as muddy and... Show more content on

It is also the bank of the Devon River that the fearful tree is located (pg. 4 and pg. 43 44). Up to
the point of Finny s accident, it is one of the calmest spots on campus. In fact, Gene directly
connects it to the proud sight of Finny standing on one foot on the branch like a river god , and
seeming to transcend gravity. On the contrary, the Naguamsett is a rough saltwater river. It is
the war itself: dark and unknown. The Naguamsett is dangerous just like the war going on, and
scary like the possibilities of draft or enlistment. I also think that the rivers compare well to the
two main characters, Finny and Gene. Gene is rough and unpredictable (pg. 30 32, pg. 34, and
pg. 48) like the Naguamsett River. He is also the one to acknowledge the dark qualities of the
war more. Gene is less stable (pg. 88 89), and small things can quickly change his attitude. Finny,
though, is a source of fun for everyone (pg. 18 19, pg. 24, and 78 80). He is loyal, charming, and
everyone knows he is a stable presence at Devon (pg. 10 and pg. 12 13). Finny is more like the
Devon River, because he is adventurous, but controlled enough so that he is a safe influence. The
friends are completely opposite personalities like the Devon and Naguamsett

  • 2. Iran Nuclear Deal Case Study The Iran Nuclear Deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was formally adopted on October 18th, 2015 by Iran, Germany, and the UN Security Council consisting of Britain, China, France, Russia, and the United States. It enabled Iran to peacefully pursue nuclear program so long as it did not weaponize the program and it removed American sanctions and European embargos. In recent weeks, President Donald Trump has made efforts to eliminate the agreement or at least severely limit the program. To regulate the program, the international agreement states that Iranmust allow its facilities to be searched and monitored periodically by a team of experts to verify that Iran is keeping within the stipulates of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even without nuclear weapons, Iran represents a threat to Americans. With the introduction of the Iran Nuclear Deal, Iran has been emboldened and arrested several Americans under false pretenses. A total of four Americans have been detained by the Iranian government since the JCPOA was implemented (CNN). Others have been detained for having American ties. Moreover, the UN s International Atomic Energy Agencyrecently admitted that, though they technically should be able to access all Iranian military sites, they can t actually search military affiliated sites (Washington Post). Top adviser to Iran s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, went so far as to call the US s call for further inspections as a dream that would never be possible. Without access to the military sites, it is impossible to verify that Tehran is implementing the deal. The United States has no true knowledge about whether Iran is working on the development of nuclear weapons or not. It is however known that Iran has aggressively been working towards its ballistic missile program despite defiance of Security Council resolutions. With the demise of Iranian sanctions, Iran was free to enter new market. They then invested their proceeds into their ballistic missile program. Iran acts as a significant threat to close American ally, Israel. It in fact inscribed Israel must be wiped out in Hebrew on two of its ballistic missile tests ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analyse The Streingths and Weaknesses Of The Boston... In this essay I will look at the strengths and weaknesses of using the Boston Matrix to help make decisions in business. I will first briefly explain the Boston Matrix and then analyse its effectiveness as an aid to making a marketing strategy. Like Ansoff s matrix, the Boston Matrix is a well known tool for marketing managers. It was developed by the large US consulting group and is a way that a business can compare all of its products. The two aspects it looks at are market share (relative to that of competitors) and market growth. To use it you would look at all of your products and sort them into 4 categories, stars (products with a high market growth and a high market share), cash cows (high market share in a market with little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are several advantages and disadvantages of using the Boston Matrix to help make decisions like this... Firstly, there is a common assumption that a high market share will automatically mean high profitability of a product. This isn t always the case, as the costs of development of a product must be taken into consideration. For example, when Boeing launch a new jet, yes they have a high market share but they still must cover the extremely high development costs. Although jets are a very specialised product, it is the same for other more simple products as a large chunk of a companies resources go on design and research. Also, at the launch of a new product lots of money must be spent on advertising to ensure that the product does get the market share it wants. The good thing about this is that if this risk is undertaken, the product may in the future become a cash cow and the companies will be able to reap the benefits and the product will be able to support new products. Do you see the cycle that the products follow?, this all links very closely with the product lifecycle. Of course a company should not just assume that a product will follow this cycle, there is no guarantee that a product will follow this cycle and a marketing department would be stupid to assume that a product will. This is another problem with using the Boston Matrix to make decisions (as it is a problem with all other aspects of marketing), that markets just aren t that predictable. ... This can strongly be contributed to mental illness, drug abuse, and most importantly the lack of proper rehabilitation. The idea of prison reform has a strong significance to me personally because I feel that our current system is not effective in properly rehabilitating prisoners while they are serving their time. Nor do they effectively prepare them for their reentry back into society. This is why I am pursuing the career of a Penologist. Penologyis the study of the punishment of crimeand of prisonmanagement. • 5. Kennedy Won The Democratic Convention Democratic Presidential Nomination On April 30 1960, James Rowe, a Washington Lawyer, gave $10,000 the campaign of Hubert H. Humphrey (Peters, P. 62). Rowe funded Humphrey s campaign in hopes that Humphrey would defeat John F. Kennedy. Moreover, Rowe thought that this would lead to Johnson s path of the presidency (Peters, P. 62) However; it was too late because Kennedy was dominating the presidential nominations. Instead, Johnson was relying on his running mate Humphrey to win the Democratic Convention. Ultimately, Johnson hoped that Humphrey would choose him to be his vice president if Humphrey won the Democratic Convention. Johnson believed that he was an excellent candidate because of his impressive record as Senate majority leader and his friendship with powerful Democratic senators (Peters, P. 62). However, Johnson s strategy was a failure because Humphrey lost to a landslide to Kennedy on May 9, 1960 (Bornet, P. 63) Ultimately, Kennedy nearly received majority of the votes. Moreover, Kennedy won the Democratic Convention nomination with 806 votes to 409 (Bornet, P. 64). Kennedy also offered Johnson the vice presidential nomination in the 1960 nomination. Lastly, Kennedy offered Johnson the vice president nomination because Kennedy knew that Johnson had a lot of connections in Washington that could lead to his win in the 1960 presidential election. For instance, Johnson used his personal connections to help Kennedy win the electoral vote from states that Kennedy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The People in Night of the Scorpion and My Aunt in Pakistan Compare the way in which the poet presents the people in Night of the Scorpion and Presents from my Aunt in Pakistan. We live in a world of many cultures and each has it is own way of communicating and two very different poems reflect this. In order to compare and contrast the traditions which have become apparent within the poems; Night of the Scorpion by Nissim Ezekiel and Presents from my Aunts in Pakistan by Moniza Alvi, further analysis must take place. With retrospect of the poem Night of the Scorpion , the content explains the reactions of the villagers and surroundings to an incident whereby the poet s mother was stung by a scorpion . It is evident ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The children do not portray the scorpion as a villain; however perceive the invertebrate s sting as a mere caution for the mother as she advanced towards its hiding place. In contrast, the adults refer to the scorpion as the evil one displaying signs of little understanding as to why the scorpion took such drastic actions. It has therefore become apparent that there is a possible culture divide within the one society. The selective use of language not only identified Ezekiel s roller coaster of emotions but also unveils his observations concerning the villagers. Although the neighbours are not clearly analysed individually, this simply intensifies the effect Ezekiel has on the reader through the use of the pronoun they . Further reinforcement is clear through the development of a simile comparing the villagers to Swarms of flies , thus highlighting the irony, as Ezekiel uses an insect s image to describe the people s reaction to an invertebrate s sting. Through a combination of tone, alliteration, sound and repetition, Ezekiel adds emphasis to his judgements. It became thought provoking that Ezekiel took different tones for different aspects of the event. A prime example of this is pinpointed through Ezekiel s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Essay Comparing A Rose For Emily And A Day s Wait Difficult times cause mental strain for many people. The first method to cope is to try to maintain control, and the second is to lose all power and spiral into insanity. William Faulkner explored this topic in A Rose for Emily and Ernest Hemingway in A Day s Wait . Emily Grierson took the second path while the boy chose the higher road. Both Emily s and the boy s duress resulted in false beliefs and rash actions. The young boy s sickness in A Day s Wait caused psychological stress that created a mistaken idea of his impending death. The boy s stress stemmed from the notion that his minor epidemic of the flu would cause him to die. Without overwhelming emotion, the boy asked what time does the man think [he is] going to die (334). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Emily s mental strain caused her sanity to collapse and forced reckless decisions. Emily s insanity originated from her family and her lack of companionship. Hinting at her insanity, Emily, when told to pay her taxes, told them to see Colonel Sartoris although he has been dead for ten years (219). Emily became crazy without company after her father died and her sweetheart had deserted her (219). Her great aunt had gone completely crazy adding another component to her madness (221). • 13. Double Strand Breaks In Dna Essay Abstract: Double strand breaks in DNA (DSB) constitute one of the greatest threats to cell viability. In eukaryotes DSBs are mainly repaired thanks to the process called Non homologous end joining (NHEJ), and consists of the direct ligation of the generated ends after the break without the need for a template . The objective of this paper is to discuss the different mechanisms available to correct DSBs in DNA. The components that participate in these repair mechanisms play a fundamental role in maintaining genomic stability (Specially in NHEJ). Furthermore, these mechanisms participate in programmed DNA breaks that mediates biological processes such as V(D)J recombination. During NHEJ the Ku protein binds to the generated ends and lays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But the intracellular environment offers other dangers to DNA integrity. The largest of these is oxidation, which in the long run produces more damage than any of the above processes. The reactions that take place in the mitochondria generate, as oxygen is reduced to water, a series of highly reactive intermediates. These are reactive oxygen species (ROS): superoxide ion, hydrogen peroxide and hydroxyl radical (De Bont R, 2004). These species can leave the mitochondria and oxidize the DNA bases. As a consequence, single strand DNA (ssDNA) ruptures, double strand breaks (DSB) are generated, and loss of bases or covalent DNA protein bonds can occur. Despite its potential dangers to the genome, evolution has created differentiation and development processes using DSB as intermediates of its recombination reactions. Thus DSBs are generated to enable recombination between homologous chromosomes during meiosis or as intermediates during somatic (or V (D) J recombination) and recombination of class switch recombination (CSR) in lymphocytes (Tonegawa, et al. 1987). At the beginning of meiosis, each chromosome recognizes its homologue and is placed side by side along the whole length. This arrangement allows the exchange of DNA between homologous sequences and thus increases the genetic diversity of the gametes. During the V (D) J and CSR processes ruptures are introduced in a controlled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moreover, we walk around as if technology is cane for us to lean on. If we aren t careful, we could become too dependent on that cane to the point where it becomes a wheelchair. Also, in The Veldt, by Ray Bradbury, the children in the story become so dependent on technology to do everything for them, that they can t even perform basic everyday tasks without the help of technology. In the first place, technology is taking over and controlling our lives and one reason why it is, is because we depend on technology to perform simple tasks for us. Some of the earliest stands for equality were rioting in the streets of London for women s suffrage, and human, rights. Even the pilgrims had to stiff the upper lip and break away to the New World for religious freedom. No matter the time, equality for one, always means oppression for another, until the underdog stands and fights. In a recent dispute over the ownership of Native American remains found in La Jolla, California, a team of scientists strove to gain custody over the remains in hopes of unearthing a more specific map of how the first Americans arrived in the North American Continent. However, the Kumeyaay Tribe claimed custody under the authority of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act of 1990 allowing Native American tribes to claim their history on private or public lands. Having no understanding of what any of this meant my anxiety multiplied and I was eager to understand why these abnormalities were occurring. At the hospital, the doctor addressed my mother with a sympathetic and yet assuring tone and stated: Latrice, you have type 2 diabetes. • 22. The Tempest Imperialism The play, The Tempest by William Shakespeare, follows the journey of the magical Prospero and his search for revenge on those who had victimized him. Stranded on an island for twelve years with his daughter Miranda and servants Caliban and Ariel, Prospero shipwrecks the men who put him there by conjuring up a terrible and violent storm from which the play gets its name. Prospero watches over the shipwrecked group who were responsible for betraying him, including his brother Antonio, who stole his position of Duke of Milan. The Tempest, written between 1610 and 1611 in the midst of European expansion and colonization of the Americas, is symbolic of the negative repercussions associated with imperialism. William Shakespeares The Tempest draws an allusion to the age of exploration and critiques the effects of colonial expansion through the main characters, including Prospero and Caliban. (One interesting thing is that the script has four goals, the fourth goal being her skanked out clothing but the director clearly took out the fourth point. Throughout the film it becomes evident that this large goal, built up with three smaller goals is a challenge, but is achievable. Cady struggles with accomplishing it by having some events set her back but in the end she is able to achieve it. The third part of a goal is that it needs to have the character using her strengths in order to accomplish her goal. Well, if Cady s strengths are her kindness, well, this becomes clear when Cady recognizes that she is in the wrong and becomes self aware of how she has been influenced. The police emergency plans already in place to deal with such a situation were not adapted quickly enough to bring the disorder under control. It took three days before 16,000 police officers brought an end to the violence. During the London riots it was important that the strategic team (Gold) were able to use the command and control system to make the right decisions for the officers on the ground so they could carry out their duties efficiently and effectively. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First Postman examines how television and the Age of Show Business affect religion and education. Postman proves religious degradation in the contemporary world through numerous examples of trivial religious shows present on television. Postman argues that religion, like everything else, is presented, quite simply and without apology, as an entertainment. Everyone that makes religion a historic, profound and sacred human activity is stripped away (Postman 4 ). He proves this argument by explaining that a translation will not have the same desired effect after it is done, therefore since television is a translation of religion, it is impossible to maintain its same values and meanings when presented through television. Since he states that the main message of the screen itself is a continual promise of entertainment (Postman 5 ) proves that religion cannot be taken seriously through television, due to our expectation of it being entertaining. Similarly to religion, education through television is presented in the same way. By stating Sesame Street does not encourage children to love school or anything about school. For example on a construction site a safety helmet is needed because in case of falling objects flying overhead, added extras can be added to a safety helmet such as goggles to protect eyes also. Also equipment such as protected boots with the steel toe caps and penetrate resistant materials, this is good on a construction site because can stop items falling and damaging or cutting the employees feet, also can be used with the correct sole to stop slips at work which may cause an injury to the worker. Risk Assessments: The first step of any risk assessment is to evaluate the hazards, depending on what type of work there is, there are many different hazards that needed to be taken into consideration. Also on a construction site it may not always just be the employees getting harmed, it could be the public, contractors or visitors. There are many risks that can happen every day and it is very unlikely to be able to get rid of all the risks from a workplace. The risk assessment should only include what risks are major and can cause a big problem to the workers. In any risk ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The publication of My Feudal Lord received many awards and made it exceptional and extraordinary literary work, which surfaces the issues of Muslim women of Pakistan, and is still relevant as it contributes to the feminist cause. The book is a painful account of a womans traumatic marriage in Pakistan, who suffers in silence for thirteen years and then decides to come out of the life of abuse and humiliation. It also highlights the hidden agency of a woman that has the potential to expose and challenge a male dominated society. Durrani s courage, resistance and mighty pen become agents for change. These agents, along with exposition of assumed authority of debauchery and superiority of male culture assist her in dismantling established societal pattern of marriage. The process of evolution encourages her to reflect on the woes of other women in Pakistani society and the ways to counter violence, inequality and isolation in feudal trap. With this, the government is accurately able to solve crimes and save lives. DNA testing is an incredible device in which real life applications are solved with simple identification. Forensic testing aids to finding suspects and victims in criminal investigations. DNAtesting is an advancement in technology, and using it to the best of its abilities can proficiently do justice in the U.S. Not only can DNA testing take criminals off the streets, but it can also help gives evidence and vital information on individuals linked to a specific incident. Statistics have shown that before the creation of DNA testing in the late 1980 s, tens of thousands of investigations were completed in which identified suspects were improperly accused. These statistics clearly state how DNA testing is extremely important in today s society. Without it, who knows where criminal investigations would be. • 43. 1. How Does RNA Differ From DNA 1) How does RNA differ from DNA? According to the video, RNA is made of nucleotide building block, but is a single stranded. DNA often exists as a double stranded molecule made of four building blocks called nucleotides. RNA contains Uracil as DNA contains Thymine. DNA is most often used to store genetic information, while RNAserves as a host of functions. 2) Name and discuss at least three things does RNA do in the cell, based on what you learned in the video and the tutorials. Based on what I ve learned in the video and the tutorials. RNA plays three major roles in the cell as DNA photocopy (mRNA) as a coupler between the genetic code and the protein building blocks (tRNA), and as a structural component of ribosomes (rRNA). RNA is much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is much scientific debate about whether viruses are alive. Like living creatures, they carry genes and evolve. They are unable to reproduce on their own and must infect living cells and hijack cellular machinery such as ribosomes to copy themselves. Each virus is like a little tank that can blast a hole in the outer cell wall and send its forces in. These intruders change the blueprints in the factory s headquarters so the factory starts producing more viral tanks. It doesn t stop until it builds so many tanks that the cell bursts right open. Most viruses are little more than genetic information DNA or RNA inside a protein shell. They bind to a cell and inject their genetic code inside 9) How does RNA interference help scientists study genes? Scientists can use the same basic mechanism of RNA interference to turn off one geneat a time and study the effect on the cell and the organism. For example, turning off one gene may drain all the pigment out of a purple flower. Another might prevent a plant from producing a toxic chemical, making it safe to eat. Scientists have not yet determined whether human cells naturally fight viruses with RNAi, but it is possible that one day we will be able to use RNAi to deactivate cancer causing genes and genetic disorders. 10) In a paragraph, reflect on what you thought of the NOVA RNA Lab. • 44. The Between The Atrium Aspect Ratio Under Different Heat... Figure ‎2.6 Numerical experiment N.B with fire at atrium at 250 Sec [9] Figure ‎2.7 Physical model P.M with fire at atrium at 250 Sec. [9] It was concluded that the height of the atrium and the fan locations have obvious effect on the efficient abstraction. Atrium with height more than 30 m with exhaust fans located towards the ends may require attention to control the smoke abstraction efficiently. Yi, Hou, Li and Feng Chow [13] study the relation between the atrium aspect ratio under different heat release rate of fire the flooding time flow of smoke occurs and, 32 simulations were performed using a model, FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator, Version 3). Table 2.4 shows the size of the atrium and HRR of steady fire. For the all simulations, (3Г—3Г—3) meter fire room was used, the fire was at the center of the floor of the fire room, and 27 m height atrium. The vents in the fire floor were both (2Г—1.5) meter with located at 1 m above the floor with 20 oC ambient temperature. Figure 2.8 listed the early stage situation of the fire in a floor near to an atrium. The fire floor has 2 vertical vents named WA and WB and there are open to both the atrium and outside. The atrium ceiling is open, and it is assumed that there is an ideal isolation between the atrium and the adjacent floors. At fire early stage, the smoke moves to outside and the atrium, and air from outside and the atrium moves inside the fire floor at the same time from the 2 vents. Figure 2.8 shows the ... • 45. Cruel Intentions Movie Review In the film Cruel Intentions, Kathryn Merteuil is portrayed as a manipulative mastermind, who suffers from the addiction of cocaine. She is prideful of herself on destroying the lives of others while having the benefit of meeting her own needs. Kathryn comes from a wealthy family. She portrays herself differently while being in the public eyes; a popular student, a devoted Christian and a student body president at her prestige s school. She comes off as a lady with moral integrity. However, Sebastian her stepbrother is the only one who sees past Kathryn s deception and in fact knows that she s a troublemaker. Throughout the film Kathryn seem have been sufferingfrom a borderline personality disorder. I believe criterion 1 is met because she believes that she and her brother are two of a kind but realistically they are not. For example, at the beginning of the movie, she and her brother are manipulative and conspire to cruel intentions between seduction and betrayal. They made a bet in which Sebastian will seduce a virgin name Annette and if Sebastian fails to do so, he will lose his most valuable possession, his car. And if he succeeds, he would have the pleasure the pleasure to sleep with Kathryn in whom he has wanted since the day their parents married. Secondly, she can t seem to have a functional intimate relationship with anyone. As if she only had one purpose for every person she ran across and that would be sex. I believe criterion 2 is met because Kathryn has an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Electronic Health Records Research Paper Electronic Health Records Implementation of the electronic health records (EHRs) has been a growing trend in the healthcare field from fear of the unknown to the acceptance of the reality of the EHRs and the actually utilizing the system. The struggle to go live with the EHR was a challenge because change is always a difficult implementation. According to Fickenscher Bakerman, (2011) Change is a process that is individualized base on one s ability to adopt and the interest on the change. Some people may take longer to understand a process while others will grab the skill within a short time. However, some few setbacks slow down the adoption of the EHRs when it was first implemented, Culture, communication and training and time. Despite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Communication For change to talk place communication has to be well explicit to it uses for easy understanding. There were some setbacks in the communication of the change with the EHRs; most nurses did not really understand why they were moving to the EHR, there was no clear vision and value statement (Fickenscher Bakerman, 2011). The computer terminologies were a challenge to understand and apply during the practice session making it difficult for some nurse to follow alone. Some of the information seems to be different with the fact that there were sessions held in different shift and repetition of the same information in another way (Fickenscher Bakerman, 2011). Because of these difficulties with communication, lowering the expectation bar for nurse by increasing more time for them to understand and practice the skills was implemented Cresswell Sheikh, (2009). • 47. Funeral Service Workers And Funeral Services A mortician, also known as a undertaker, is a professional involved in the business of funeral rites. These tasks often are the dressing and burial or cremation of the dead, as well as the planning and arrangement of the actual funeral ceremony. Together with the family, funeral service workers establish the locations, dates, and times of the visitations (wakes), funerals or memorial services, burials, and cremations. They handle other details as well, such as determining whether the body should be buried, entombed, or cremated. This decision is critical because funeral practices vary among cultures and religions. Most funeral service workers deal with paperwork pertaining to the person s death, including submitting papers to state officials to receive a death certificate. Some help resolve insurance claims or apply for veterans funeral benefits on behalf of the family. They also may notify the Social Security Administration of the death. A growing number of funeral service workers collaborate with clients who wish to plan their own funerals in advance to ensure that their needs are met. Increasingly, funeral service workers also help individuals adapt to changes in their lives following a death with support groups. Funeral service managers oversee the general operations of a ... • 48. Symbolism In John Knowles A Separate Peace The book, A Separate Peace, by John Knowles can be interpreted more than one way. You can take it literally, or look into the symbolic meaning of the landmarks of the Devon school, including the two fearful sites Gene visited in the beginning. As stated in the book by Gene, everything in the time period revolved around the war. This includes the great symbolism used, so mainly the tree, the Devon River, and the Naguamsett River. The Devon and Naguamsett Rivers both run through the campus of Devon. They are exact opposites (pg. 40). The Devon River is clean, freshwater, and well dammed up. It is described as being a small, narrow river fringed by pine and birch (pg. 42) On the other hand, the Naguamsett River is described as muddy and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is also the bank of the Devon River that the fearful tree is located (pg. 4 and pg. 43 44). Up to the point of Finny s accident, it is one of the calmest spots on campus. In fact, Gene directly connects it to the proud sight of Finny standing on one foot on the branch like a river god , and seeming to transcend gravity. On the contrary, the Naguamsett is a rough saltwater river. It is the war itself: dark and unknown. The Naguamsett is dangerous just like the war going on, and scary like the possibilities of draft or enlistment. I also think that the rivers compare well to the two main characters, Finny and Gene. Gene is rough and unpredictable (pg. 30 32, pg. 34, and pg. 48) like the Naguamsett River. He is also the one to acknowledge the dark qualities of the war more. Gene is less stable (pg. 88 89), and small things can quickly change his attitude. Finny, though, is a source of fun for everyone (pg. 18 19, pg. 24, and 78 80). He is loyal, charming, and everyone knows he is a stable presence at Devon (pg. 10 and pg. 12 13). Finny is more like the Devon River, because he is adventurous, but controlled enough so that he is a safe influence.
