India s Growth And Deterioration Of Insufficiency
Over the last century China and India has had economic growth. There has been substantial
deterioration in poverty in both poor countries, but much more so in China. However, that economic
growth and deterioration of insufficiency was not spread equally among the lives of the poor
especially as it relates to health. In comparison, the health outcome in China has been much better
than that of India and has been for numerous decades. According to Kanjilal, Mazumdar, Mukherjee,
and Rahman (2010) the lifespan in China had risen in 1975 to a rate that India still had not achieved in
the year 2000; as an example, life expectancy rate at birth in India is currently the same as what China
s was in 1970. Additionally, 46% of the children age three and under in India are underweight, and
only 8% in China; however, for children in India age five and under the mortality rate is more than
two times that of China (Jones, Jones, Perry, Barclay, Jones, 2010).
Both China and India shared comparable strategies as it relates to development and reform. In 1978,
China started reform with a closed non market economy, while India had an open market that was
state controlled until 1980 (Cyril, Oldroyd, Renzaho, 2013). The political settings were quite different
under which reforms were introduced and executed which made the difference in the consequences
amongst the two countries. India is still represented by an open take part multiparty democracy, while
China has an authoritarian one party

Executive Summary
The movie Industry came into being towards the end of the 19th century and it has grown steadily
over the years, incorporating several changes in its outfit and presentation. From the French
beginnings, to the British influence and then the American dominance after the 2nd world war, the
entertainment industry has seen it all.
Bollywood, the Hindi language industry in Mumbai is considered by many to be the heart of the
Indian film industry. Although the format of Bollywood films has changed over the years, a typical

With the end of colonialism, Indian popular cinema emerged as India s sole model of national unity
and films were used as a tool for social critique. 1950 1960: A Golden Age of Indian Cinema
1950s saw the increasing popularity of cinema that derived its inspiration from realism. Foreign
influence played a key role in this development. The first International Film Festivals of India were
held in 1952. The film festival helped Indian filmmakers learn more about French and Italian neo
realist films.
Satyajit Ray, with his debut Bengali film, Pather Panchali (1955), became the pioneer of a genre of
films that would come to be recognized as Indian parallel cinema. The film won the Best Human
Document award at the Cannes Film Festival and brought Indian cinema into the international
limelight. Ray s film also marked the beginning of the resurgence of Bengali cinema, where films
targeted educated and sensitive viewers.
While Indian parallel cinema was making a mark in the festival circuits, traditional Bollywood was
gaining popularity overseas. Raj Kapoor, who both directed and acted in his films, played a key role in
popularizing mainstream Indian cinema abroad. Kapoor s film Awara (1951), dubbed in Turkish,
Farsi, and Arabic, broke box office records in South East Asia and the Middle East. His films were
also very popular in Russia and he reached such heights of popularity that the Russians paid tribute to
him as one of great

Essay Comparing Popol Vuh And The Odyssey
Popol Vuh and The Odyssey are epic stories that are considered, cultural touchstones; they dramatize
the life of a nation and help bind it together (Lawall, 3076). The two stories both form a connection to
the culture of Mayan, Popol Vuh, and Greek, The Odyssey, partly through the monsters that preside in
each epic. Because of the detailed descriptions of monsters or evil people and the known information
pertaining to each story s culture, the two can be connected. Therefore, Popol Vuh and The Odyssey
are comparable by cultures through the monsters that each story depicts. The monsters in Popol Vuh,
known as the lords of the underworld, are extremely important to Mayan Culture. In the cycle of tales
that comprises Part 3, the most celebrated portion of the Popol Vuh, Hunahpu and Xblanque vanquish
the lords of the Maya underworld, called Xibalba (a term of obscure etymology, provisionally
translated place of fright ). This material, likewise, is Central American and quintessentially Mayan.
Scenes from the story are preserved on painted vases of the classic period, recovered by archaeologists
from Maya burial chambers. Evidently, the sequence of events, in which the heroes twin fathers, One
Hunahpu and Seven Hunahpu, are undone by Xibalba and are ultimately ... Show more content on

struggle, its disappointments, and its inevitable end. And the end, death, is ever present. But he hangs

Vertical Integration In Hollywood Industry
With the coming of sound came the birth of Hollywood. As Hollywood progressed, stars were made
and so were millions. But these millions of dollars were being given to the top 8 companies in the
industry, The Big Five: Warner Bros., MGM/Loew s, Paramount, 20th Century Fox, and RKO, and
The Little Three: United Artists, Columbia, and Universal. These companies controlled how their
films were made, where they were shown, which films played first and for how long, a clear example
of vertical integration. Most of them bought a chain of theaters, only playing their respective
companies films, which deeply angered independent theater owners. The independents saw millions of
dollars shoot directly to Hollywood theaters, away from their own box offices. ... Show more content

After the 1960s and the First Golden Age of Hollywood Movie Making, there is a surge of films that
are linked to directors and/or actors and not the company. There was no more The Big Five and The
Little Three ; all of the companies were equal, except for RKO because they went out of business. The
aftermath of the court case ushered in the Film School Generation. During this era and years after
individuals, not companies, were one to watch. In 1972, Francis Ford Coppola s The Godfather put
Paramount back on the map, after things were awry because of the case. For the first 26 days of
release, The Godfather brought an unheard of one million dollars per day (Gomery and Pafort
Overduin 253). Other members of the movie brats generation introduced the blockbuster phenomenon.
Steven Spielberg did Universal a favor with Jaws (1975) and George Lucas for 20th Century Fox with
Star Wars (1977) (Module 14; Gomery and Pafort Overduin 252 254). The American New Wave
allowed Hollywood companies to not compete for the top spot in terms of numbers, but to create a
Conglomerate Hollywood. Not only did the court case help steer Hollywood into a Blockbuster era, it
made way for independent films to be cherished as well. Quentin Tarantino, one of the most influential
directors of today, started out independently with the cult classic Pulp Fiction

Compare And Contrast Jefferson And Colby s Survey
At their core, both ordnance Thomas Jefferson s Land ordnance of 1785 and Thomas Colby s survey
of Ireland were attempts at surveying and quantifying absolute space with the aim of eventually
transforming it into abstract space. In Jefferson s case, the land was surveyed so that settlers and
prospectors could purchase farmland west of the Appalachian Mountains, north of the Ohio River and
East of the Mississippi River. This was done as a method of raising revenue as Congress didn t yet
possess the power to use taxation as a source of revenue. It was also carried out to minimize disputes
over land borders and to give landowners a concrete idea of the land that they owned. In Colby s
survey s case, it was used as way of similarly as a way of taking ... Show more content on

Unlike Jefferson s survey however, it was also carried out with the intent of planning and mapping the
land out militarily. This was a deterrent to potential Irish rebels following the O Neill s rebellions and
the murder of Richard Bartlett and other cartographers. In terms of methods of organisation and
measurement, Colby s survey employed concrete triangulation posts placed on the placed on the
summits of many Irish peaks and mountains, many of which can still be seen to this day. Another tool
developed for the survey was powerful Drummond or Limelight which produced a very intense, white
light which could be seen for miles once lit. Due to these developments, the maps finalized in 1846 at
a scale of six inches to one mile were a world first in terms of accuracy and increased detail for urban
areas. Jefferson s survey, which took place almost forty years earlier, used an arguably more primitive
yet organized method of organizing lands into tessellating squares of thirty six square miles called
townships. These

The Rise of the Norman Empire
Hold the wall! shouted King Harold II as the Normans began to work their way past the Anglo Saxon
shield wall. The Anglo Saxon empire reigned over London for its fair share of time before William the
Duke of Normandy decided to take it from them. William was the son of Robert I and his wife was
Matilda of Flanders. William was of Viking origin and he spoke French. King Harold II was ruler of
London after King Harold I died. King Harold II was the last Anglo Saxon King of England. In the
year 1066 a great battle took place that would change the way London lived forever. This battle was
called The Battle of Hastings.

The Battle itself was fought over the only road that connected Hastings to London and the victor of
the battle would own that road. The coastline of Sussex was nearer than it was today and caused the
major road that crossed through Hastings and London a major trade route. King Harold needed this
road for sustaining his campaign and William wanted control of the only proper road to the Heart of
England. The battle was not actually fought in the town of Hastings but rather fought roughly seven
miles away from the town. The reason they called the Battle, the Battle of Hastings was because back
in the middle ages era battle was important. The people of 1066 agreed that battle was wealthy. The
title Battle of Battle simply did not work so they named it to the nearest large city, which was
Hastings. (historylearningsite).
An important part of the battle itself was what the information was gathered from. Most things known
about the Battle of Hastings was collected from the Bayeux Tapestry. The Bayeux Tapestry was not
exactly a tapestry though its name says differently, but instead it is an embroidered linen cloth that is
about 70 meters long. The Bayeux Tapestry depicts the events leading up to the Battle of Hastings,
during the battle itself, and the events thereafter starting with a scene depicting Edward the Confessor
sending Harold to Normandy and ends with the English troops fleeing the battlefield at

The Use Of Protective Lung Strategies And Effects On...
A research study can be broken out into 4 different parts: topic, problem, purpose and questions.
Aligning these components will make the article cohesive in its content and guarantee that the author
is staying on track. I examined three scholarly articles that describe studies related to the field of
Respiratory Therapy. I reviewed each article to determine the topic, problem, purpose and question to
see if the authors were able to maintain alignment throughout the article.
Article 1
Effect of a Protective Ventilation Strategy on Mortality in the Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome
(Amato et al.,). The topic of the article is the use of protective lung strategies and the effects they have
on mortality rate for patients with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). The problem the
authors, and practitioners around the world, face is that traditional methods for mechanical ventilation
damage already diseased lungs which increases the mortality rate of patients with ARDS. The purpose
of this study is to define what lung protective strategies are comprised of and to determine if using
these strategies will reduce pulmonary complications which will ultimately decrease mortality rates.
The questions the authors focused on were:
What are the components of a lung protective strategy.
Will lung protective strategies decrease pulmonary complications in patients with ARDS?
Will decreasing pulmonary complications in this group decrease mortality rates?
The authors did a

The Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass Rhetorical...
In chapter seven of the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, Douglass is finally aware of his
approximate age, and is burdened with the thought of being a slave for life. At the age of 12, it is not
very encouraging to be given the description of a slave for life. Douglass uses his newfound reading
and writing skills to cleverly comprehend the book The Columbian Orator, and the speeches from the
Catholic emancipation it contains, in his favor. The book Douglass discovers does a good job of
supporting his invalidation of slavery as well as providing him with knowledge and reasonable
arguments. The most interesting part about Douglass encounter with The Columbian Orator is the
personal context he takes it in. He reads the dialogue between the master and his slave, and applies it
to his own life. Douglass is both fascinated and fueled by what the context of the dialogue has to offer,
the intelligence of the slave in it, and the result of the conversation between the two characters. After
having run away and been recaptured three separate times, the master in the text emancipated the
slave. The drive Douglass had most likely came from the shocking result of the voluntary
emancipation of the slave on the part of the master. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speeches gave Douglass powerful arguments on the cruelty and inhumanity of slavery. They gave
tongue to interesting thoughts of my own soul, which had frequently flashed through my mind, and
died away for want of utterance. Sheridan s speeches put words to his thoughts, allowing him to form
his very own arguments. However, Douglass then states in the narrative: but while they relieved me of
one difficulty, they brought on another even more painful than the one of which I was relieved. The
new difficulty he references is the knowledge of his

A Separate Peace, by John Knowles Essay
People frequently betray others because of the evil in their hearts. In A Separate Peace, John Knowles
uses the pureness of the rakish Finny to portray the savage or bad side of the vulpine Gene. He also
uses it to prove that peace is exceedingly difficult to acquire until a person accepts the ignorance in
their own heart. That means that acceptance is the key to finding peace. Thus, Gene finds his peace
when Finny forgives him and when Gene learns to forgive himself as well. Gene assumes that Finny
and he despise each other, until he becomes aware of how flawless Finny really is, which Gene
loathes. Initially, Gene concludes that Finny wants to surpass him. He thinks that the both of them are
enemies yet Gene truckles under Finny. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even after everything Gene has done, Finny still acquits him before passing away. Finny avers that
Gene just does not know what does. Finny takes the guilt of Gene with him and removes his
ignorance. But, Gene must bear the darkness in him or he will perpetually be his own vile rival. When
Gene bounces the limb and causes the incident, he draws out the evil in his heart. By carrying out such
a crude act, Gene depletes his purity, as well as his envy. Finny, naturally, does not blame Gene and
strives to create verisimilitude . Gene tries to tell Finny about the accident and even tries to accuse
himself, but Finny refrains to listen. When Brinker questions Gene in the Butt Room, Gene
equivocates and attempts to bury his tracks with sarcasm. Gene guards his secret from himself, as well
as others. He, like most people, does not want to recognize the reality and wants to eschew it.
Ultimately, Gene acknowledges to himself what he has done and accepts that, there was always
something deadly lurking in anything I wanted, anything I loved. And if it wasn t then, for example
with Phineas, then I put it there myself (Knowles 101). Gene realizes the bad in his heart and it scares
him. He shows how a person can destroy and that person must remove sin in order to accomplish a
separate peace. Gene advances by gaining knowledge from Finny and matures from his experiences.

Complications Of Suicide And Suicide
Suicide is defined as the act of taking one s own life voluntarily. Sometimes, talking about this
situation makes people very uncomfortable because, according to today s society, it s a terrifying
word. For this reason, most people try to avoid this subject they are unwilling to talk about it or deal
with it. Suicide has become the third leading cause of death for teenagers; the rate of suicide has
increased dramatically over the years. Teenagers who commit suicide suffer from a severe case of
depression, leading them to think that the only solution to end their pain is by ending their own life.
The difference in gender plays a role in how one may take their life. Males usually use guns or knives
to hurt themselves while females usually use pills. It s important to take this subject seriously and try
to find different solutions for this social issue by applying a variety of sociological theories including
the structural functionalism, the conflict theory and the symbolic interactionist. First of all, according
to the functionalism, society is a complex system whose part interconnect to promote a stable society.
The structural functionalism falls under the macro perspectives, it s based on the works of Emile
Durkheim, who wanted to prove that the social forces can affect people s behavior. The parts of the
society are composed of the social institutions, they are identified with a social purpose and
permanence, each one of them has a different objective and role in the functioning of the society. All
the institutions depend on each other and if one of them stops doing their job, all the society will be
affected. The reason for the existing of social issues is the changes that happens in the society, changes
in traditions, changes in norms and values. For example, the rates of suicide increased during the war
and economic depression because people found it hard to lose everything during these two events, so
they thought that the only solution for this problem is the suicide. Some people find it hard to adapt to
these changes; this failure leads to social problems. For example, some people commit suicide because
of other people bullying and or cyberbullying. Another reason that may cause one to take

v. Touche, the court used the primary benefit test, which became known as Ultramares. Ultramares
requires privity, the accountant has a fiduciary duty only to whom they performed work for or an
entity very close to privity. Ultramares requires four aspects for a nonclient; the accountant must be
aware of the name, purpose, extent, and that the client is aware of the nonclient s use. If Ultramares
was used by Prosser Bank and the shareholders, it would fail on several requirements, but primarily
due to the fact that privity is not present, and the parties existence was unknown to the accountant. In
the case of Tricontinental Industries, Ltd. v. PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, Tricontinental relied on the
Anicom, Inc. s financial statements audited by PWC, but PWC did not note in its opinion the
discrepancies it discovered during the audit, and Tricontinental entered into an Asset Purchase

Two years earlier Olaudah wrote dozens of letters to London newspapers, praising new anti slavery
books, defending abolitionist friends, protesting a pro slavery speech he had heard in the house of
Lords visitor s gallery and even wrote letters to the Queen. He also signed and probably organized and
drafted more than a half dozen joint letters about slavery groups of African men in London who
referred themselves as the Sons of Africa. In his stream of letters to the press, he at least once subtly
touted the autobiography he was preparing, when it appeared its two volumes totaled at five hundred

Why Did Germany Lose Ww1
During World War I, Germany was involved in a two front war with France, Britain and Belgium on
the Western front and Russia on the Eastern front. In hopes of preventing a loss in the war, Germany
devised the Schlieffen plan to ensure victory; However, not only did their plan for war fail to
recognize potential threats and factors, but their lack of communication and cooperation also
contributed to an overall defeat. Germany s loss in the two front war and World War I was ultimately
the fault of their poor strategizing.
Germany, the once dominating country of Europe, was inferior to the other European powers, and
neighboring states desired to conquer them in fear of the country s inclining growth and hostility.

Soon after Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia, Russian armies mobilized in support of the
Serbians in 1914. In fear that Russia would fully mobilize sooner than expected, Moltke was forced to
send troops from the western front to the eastern front two years prior to the scheduled date. Due to a
lack of preparation and reasonable strategy, The Schlieffen Plan failed to execute properly. Thirty four
divisions were expected to invade Belgium and rapidly attack France with little resistance from
Belgium, and a smaller army was scheduled to remain prepared to battle the responsive French army
on the Franco German frontier and gradually progress eastward, enticing the French army to move
forward, eventually resulting in the defeat of the French. Afterwards, the front lines were expected to
move towards Russia. This, however, did not go as scheduled because the Plan lacked flexibility, and
every mistake and delay would further destroy Germany s possibility of victory. As German troops
arrived in Belgium, they realized that they had, mistakenly, underestimated the Belgian army, which
refused to permit them from entering France through their land. Instead, they engaged in a lengthy
battle with the German

Adaptive Delta Causality Control With Prediction
Adaptive Delta Causality Control with Prediction in Networked Real Time Game Using Haptic Media
Haptic relating to the sense of touch, in particular relating to the perception and manipulation of
objects using the senses of touch and proprioception. MU The game is based on a peer to peer (P2P)
model. Each terminal refreshes a screen at 60 Hz and sends media units (MUs), each of which
includes information about the position, velocity, and time stamp, to the other terminal. We have two
types of MUs: One has the position information of the mallet, and the other has that of the puck.
Networked Air Hockey using Haptic media Improve interactivity of the air hockey game through
applying prediction logic to adaptive delta causality control. The value of ∆ is dynamically changed
according to the network delay for MUs of the mallet, and is shared among terminals Then, each
terminal sends a changed value of ∆ to the other terminals. The terminal selects the largest value from
among the changed values as a new value of ∆. The adaptive delta causality control scheme with
prediction outputs each Media Unit by predicting the future position later than the output time of the
received MU by the prediction time Tpredict ( ≥ 0) ms to keep the interactivity high. Measured
through Quality of Experience assessment. Conclusion In this paper, we proposed the adaptive ∆

Elizabeth Cady Stanton s Influence On Women
There are people who influence a single community to realize that they are more then what sociality
says for them. That they can achieve more than what is told. Elizabeth Cady Stanton did this for the
woman. She was one of the first women to influence millions of women in her time and she still
encourages women to this day. She started the idea that women should have the same rights as men.
To this day women are still having trouble with being more but she helped women see themselves as
more. Elizabeth Cady Stanton is not really known but she worked with Susan B. Anthony to evolve
the idea that America has of women.
Elizabeth Cady was born on November 12, 1815. She was born in Johnstown, New York to a large
wealthy family. Her father was a lawyer called Daniel Cady and her mother was Margaret Livingston
Cady. Her father would much rather have more sons than a daughter. With this, Elizabeth decided to
learn more masculine skills in education and in daily life. Even with pressure and restrictions she
completed her education and graduated from Troy Female Seminary known as Emma Willard s
Academy in today s times. When she went to visit her cousin Gerrit Smith, an abolitionist, in ... Show

What s going on. The barriers that he faced while creating this album was that maybe the people were

such a high political statement by pointing of how the inequalities are being overlooked. Take his song

Musical Theater Essay
Musical Theater Musical theater has always been something I looked at in a positive light because it
was somewhere I could be who I wanted to be, and I could play different people. There are many
reasons as to why I have chosen to go into theater as a career and they include the freedom to create
characters, the chance to meet new and exciting people, and the opportunity to get up on stage every
night and give a performance. The possibilities are endless as to what can happen in theater, and
sometimes people get lucky enough to live their dream. A theater actor performs in plays and other

A Compare and Contrast of Two Statuettes
I have chosen as the subject of my essay to contrast and compare two female statuettes from ancient
cultures. The first is an ancient Egyptian statuette named The Offering Bearer which was discovered
about 1920 in the tomb of Meketre in Thebes and appears to have been made around 1985 B.C.E. by
an unknown. (The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2007). The second is an unnamed figurine commonly
referred to as Statuette of A Standing Woman. This statuette, whose artist is unknown, is one of
several figurines collectively called the Tanagra ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2007). The Statuette of A Standing Woman and the other Tanagra
figurines, however, marked a new trend in Greek art of examining and representing common women
in every day pursuits. Marking women as worthy of notice just for existing rather then needing special
status to be recognized. (Department of Greek and Roman Art, 2007).
The culture of Egypt at the time The Offering Bearer was made seems to be one that reserved art for
chronicling and celebrating fantastic or sacred occurrences, whereas Greek art at the time of the
Tanagra figurines had learned to find artistic potential in every day life. Egyptian life was still heavily
tied to absolute rule of pharaohs and worship of multiple gods as a defining force in everyday life.
Materials and tools would have been scarce and most art reserved for the ruling or wealthy classes.
Greece however, was an evolving culture. Greece had a history of embracing new ideas in social,
scholarly, and artistic endeavors.
In conclusion both sculptures depict a common thread in the society which created them. One a
common occurrence where the act being portrayed elevates the female subject to a more important
position then she would otherwise have enjoyed the other the beauty of women in common life.

The Equity Method of Accounting for Investments
Chapter 1 the equity method of accounting for investments Chapter Outline I. Three methods are
principally used to account for an investment in equity securities. A. Fair value method: applied by an
investor when only a small percentage of a company s voting stock is held. 1. Income is recognized
when dividends are declared. 2. Portfolios are reported at market value. If market values are
unavailable, investment is reported at cost. B. Consolidation: when one firm controls another (e.g.,
when a parent has a majority interest in the voting stock of a subsidiary or control through variable
interests (FIN 46R), their financial statements are consolidated and reported for the combined entity.

B. Payments made in excess of underlying book value can sometimes be identified with specific
investee accounts such as inventory or equipment. C. An extra acquisition price can also be assigned
to anticipated benefits that are expected to be derived from the investment. For accounting purposes,
these amounts are presumed to reflect an intangible asset referred to as goodwill. Goodwill is
calculated as any excess payment that is not attributable to specific accounts. For the year 2002 and
beyond, goodwill is no longer amortized. V. Deferral of unrealized gains in inventory A. Gains derived
from intercompany transactions are not considered completely earned until the transferred goods are
either consumed or resold to unrelated parties. B. Downstream sales of inventory 1. Downstream
refers to transfers made by the investor to the investee. 2. Intercompany gains from sales are initially
deferred under the equity method and then recognized as income at the time of the inventory s
eventual disposal. 3. The amount of gain to be deferred is the investor s ownership percentage
multiplied by the markup on the merchandise remaining at the end of the year. C. Upstream sales of
inventory 1. Upstream refers to transfers made by the investee to the investor. 2. Under the equity
method, the deferral process for unrealized gains is identical for upstream

Treatment of Ethnic Minorities by Nazi Germany Essay
Treatment of Ethnic Minorities by Nazi Germany
Hitler hated three kinds of people Jews, communists and democracy and in his view they were all
connected. Hitler believed that the Aryan people were the master race, and most of theses people were
Germans. He believed that Jews were an inferior species . He believed that what the Jews believed in
was spreading and crushing Germany. Anything Jewish was wrong. He spoke of a myth that the
Jewish bankers planned to break down the financial system and that this was a reason that war broke
out in 1914.

Immediately after the Nazi takeover in 1933. Gobbels and Julius Streicher began to act violently
against the Jews openly. Gangs of brown shirts physically attacked Jews on the street and smashed
their houses. In 1934 there was a law that Jews were no longer allowed to join the civil service and
were banned from work. In 1935 the Nuremberg Race Laws created a programme of legal
persecution.
The NurembergRace Laws, 1935
* Marriage between Jews and Germans forbidden.
* Full Jews deprived of German citizenship.
* Full Jews defined as those having three Jewish grandparents.
Some Jews did fight back at this though. Groups of Jewish men who went to war told people of the
honourable role they played in the 1914 18 struggles. Handbills were handed out which said that
12,000 Jew s died fighting for the nation. But these little protests compared as nothing to what the
Germans did. They used propaganda to show that Jews were enemies of the Germans and were
unworthy to be called German citizens.
There was a story that a Jew had killed a German in Paris, the Nazi s started the night which was
known as Kristallnacht. On the 9th of November over 100 Jews died in a series of violent attacks.

The Hundred Days , was a time period which took place during the first three months of Roosevelt s
presidency. During this time period, FDR was determined to restore the American economy, therefore,
he passed numerous laws as soon as he became president. He convinced Congress to establish many
new famous agencies such as the AAA and the CCC. The significance of these new laws and agencies
is that this is the first time a president used his presidential power this quickly or helped the federal
government impact each American citizen s life to this extent. While some people complained about
some changes, most American citizens understood that Roosevelt was taking the direct, vigorous
action that he had promised in his previous inaugural address.

Effects Of Alcohol Abuse And Alcoholism
When entering the field of social work, a person should understand the effects of alcohol, not only on
an individual, but also the effects on the families. Alcohol is one of the many substances that people
use and abuse. Since alcohol is legal for any one over the age of twenty one, many people begin
drinking and then develop an addiction to the substance (Goldberg, 2016). Alcoholism effects people
of all ages, background, social status, or ethnic group (National Institute on Drug Abuse, 2016). A
social worker should understand how to assess and intervene families who are struggling with alcohol
addiction in a way that is both ethical and culturally competent (National Institute on Alcohol Abuse
and Alcoholism, 2005). The main goal for a social worker is to promote well being and help provide
the basic needs of all people (National Association of Social Workers, 2008). To begin, a social worker
must first assess the situation that is before them and collect as much information as possible. Several
questions need to be asked to either the family or the person who has alcoholism. For example, on
average, how many days a week does the person consume alcohol? On those days, how many
alcoholic beverages are consumed? In the last thirty days how many times have you had more than
four alcoholic beverages? These questions need to be asked first because a social worker needs to
know how severe the problem is (National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, 2005). In some

he understood what I was saying and so I would have talks with him a little everyday before school

Inferential Reasoning In Sherlock Holmes
ABSTRACT
Inferential reasoning is a central component of statistics. It is suggested that we should develop an
informal understanding of the ideas that underlie inference before learning the concepts formally. This
report is designed to help people to learn the concept of Abduction and Deduction in the context of the
one and only consulting detective of all times Sherlock Holmes.
Criminal investigations, and trials, depend upon inferential reasoning. Theories, hypotheses and
conclusions, are drawn from the evidences which are provided in the case. The victim s blood was on
the knife; we supposed it was the murder weapon. The suspect s fingerprints are on the knife; we
supposed he killed the victim. Sherlock Holmes, although a fictional character in 21st century, remains
renowned as a great detective of all times. However, his methods, which were abduction and
deduction, are used by many real detectives, is rarely described, discussed or researched. This report
compares and contrasts the two forms of inferential reasoning which are deduction and abduction and
the role of it in Sherlock s work, and training of police officers by him. ... Show more content on

Essay on Atticus Finch
It is widely believed that Atticus Finch is one of the greatest heroes of modern literature. My opinion
varies greatly with this remark. Atticus Finch is not a hero because he only had greater morals than the
people of his time, he wanted to be a good role model for his children, and was only doing his job as a
lawyer. It was his responsibility to defend Tom Robinson and give him an honest trial. He may have
done things out of the way, but that was just to demonstrate his point. Atticus also never did anything
for the benefit of other people. He only put himself in danger to prove his point. One of the leading
reasons to think that Atticus Finch is not a hero is because he was merely doing his job. His job as a
lawyer was to defend Tom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many everyday heroes such as firefighters and doctors save lives everyday. It is their job to save the
lives of people. Atticus Finch s job is not to save lives, only to provide a fair trial. Other heroes such
as Superman are constantly putting themselves in danger to protect the lives of people. Atticus put
himself in danger once to prove his point. He didn t even need to put himself in danger. It was not
necessary for his cause to put himself in danger, he only wanted to protect Tom, which someone else
could have done. It was not his job to protect Tom, only to represent him. Atticus may have taken the
case because of Scout and Jem. He wanted to be a good role model for his children so they would look
up to him and follow in his footsteps. He wanted to set a good example for Scout and Jem and teach
them to stand up for what is right. He wanted his children to go against racial prejudice and follow
what they believe. You can prove this because in the book, Atticus tells Scout to view everybody as
equals. He even has Walter Cunningham over for dinner so he can prove this. He believes that
everybody should properly represented. Talmage Boston states in his selection of the Texas bar journal
from June, 2010 that Atticus recognizes that a lawyer has a responsibility to serve those who can t
afford to pay. (Boston, 485) It may be argued that Atticus is a hero because he defended Tom
Robinson and went against many other people in the city. A

New Age Dating Sociology
Historically dating, navigating relationships and ending relationships had been quite the difficult task.
The introduction of the internet, texting, and social networking has changed the way individuals
communicate amongst each other. For this reason, many researchers are interested in how gender
plays a role in an individual s concepts of new age dating, flirting, hook up culture, breaking up and
relationships in relations to new media. This paper will argue that new age media has enhanced
communication and mitigates the miscommunication hypothesis to an extent.

Acquaintances can now be better established through digital profiles, knowledge can be readily
shared, thoughts and feelings are better formulated, and distance between the parties allows for better
managing of the situation. This is especially true in regards to breaking up within relationships. The
distance aspect allows the individual to disassociate from the other person with minimal knowledge to
the outcome. Ambiguity and social habits remain the same with new age media but given the explicit,
slow response and distant nature of new media in comparison to in person discussion allows for a
potentially safer, manageable and controlled environment. While this conclusion outright ignores
falsifying personalities and information completely, such as in predatory behaviours, the argument that
communication between two parties with romantic interest is enhanced with the use of new age media

the first act Urgencia choreographed by Roger Jeffrey. Dressed in white leotards, the dancers leaped,
tumbled, and more all across the stage. But as I watched in amazement, I couldn t grasp the meaning

Coming home (A mother s love) was an interesting combination of hip hop and contemporary.
Beginning with no music and a grieving mother in a church carrying a can of Arizona. Dressed in a
black dress and a black hat with a veil, you could distinguish the sorrow. Now when the other dancer
came out he was dressed in a gray hoodie and blue jeans.Right away I knew this was a dedication to
Trayvon Martin along with other black men who were murdered senselessly. It was beautiful, with the
lighting and music, I just couldn t stop gazing. Takin over was another combination of hip hop and
contemporary. The performers wore dark purple shorts and black over tops. It was really cool to
watch. In Kombat the two dancers were dressed in a knight uniforms accompanied by fake swords and
knight like helmets. The dance was marvelous with the smoke, lighting, and the suspenseful music. At
the end when the two battled and the knight murders Chlorinda, not knowing it was her until she
removed her helmet, was just heart wrenching. Now Women of the water began with a woman talking
about water and woman with pictures of bodies of water, land, and women of divergent cultures. As
the voice went off the dances came out taking their place on stage. The dancers wore gray leotards
along with dark beige skirts. This dance contained many contract and release movements. I especially
loved when the dancers would form a circle and unfold just like a flower. The last piece was Danse
Brilliante , was wonderful to watch. With the dancers dressed in light purple, blue and pink dresses
while the males wore all white along with dark beige vest. The bright lighting, the dance technique,
and the classical music brought the piece to

ORIGIN OF BATTLE
10. The Battle of Calabria, (known to the Italian Navy as the Battle of Punta Stilo) was a naval battle
during the Battle of the Mediterranean in World War II. It was fought between the Italian Royal Navy
(Regia Marina) and the British Royal Navy and the Royal Australian Navy. The battle occurred 30
miles to the east of Punta Stilo, the toe of Italy (Calabria), on 9 July 1940.
11 When World War II opened, it was much to the surprise of the Italian forces who, like many in
Europe, did not expect conflict until 1941 at the earliest. At the time their forces in Libya were ill
equipped for war, and the Italian fleet was forced to start large supply operations in order to bring
them up to fighting condition.

Ethical Dilemmas Of The Stockholm Syndrome
So many times as humans we are so quick to judge other people. We are so quick to stamp a label at
something that does not normal in our own eyes. We are so eager to paint the picture of a road as
being a two way street that we forget that sometimes there might be other roads attached on the sides
of those two roads that lie ahead. One of these instances that I plan on exploring further past the naked
human eye is the Stockholm Syndrome. I plan on discussing the history behind the condition. How the
condition came about and what it is named after. Who is most affected with this condition and who
some of the symptoms that the people affected with this condition could potentially present. Of
course, like many great, well known conditions that are present in the world, there are some ethical
dilemmas that are of topic amongst the population. For an example, some of the people that are
affected with the disease might participate in illegal activities. Should the people be convicted of the
crimes that they involuntarily participated in or be excused of the crimes? Another area that also plan
to investigate about the Stockholm Syndrome is the embedded health messages that are in the
entertainment media; specifically the movies that are produced and aired for the public to watch, relate
and educate.

Through out parties and special events, a variety of dances such as Bachata, Salsa, Choque, and
Merengue has shown me that Hispanic dancing requires swift movement and coordination. My family
has placed dancing on a very high pedestal. Each culture in my community has a great deal of
importance, I look forward to learn from each culture to enrich my own. Every year I would go to
parades, street fairs, and would go to shows to aid the diversity in my experience. To gain experience
in Pennsylvania I would visit the historical sites, visit its Museums, sport games, dance shows, and
national events. Being more open to the community, is what allows the indoctrination on foreign

Dangers Of Cell Phone Use While Driving
Cell phones play a very large role in most people s lives, but the continuous use of them has sparked
the controversy of whether or not these devices plague drivers. Improvements in technology and
human dependency on having a cell phone has led to the increase of cell phone use while driving and
crashes related to this behavior. Studies and simulations have been conducted to put the controversy at
ease accompanied by state governments passing bans on hand held devices. The magnitude of the
issue of cell phone use while driving is proven by the articles Cellular Phone Use While Driving:
Risks and Benefits: Section 3. Risks of Using a Cellular Phone While Driving by Karen S. Lissy,
M.P.H., Joshua T. Cohen, Ph.D., Mary Y. Park, M.S., and John D. Graham, Ph.D. and The Use of Cell
Phones While Driving . Federal and state governments should enact bans on cell phone use while
driving because missing a message or call is better than a loved one receiving the message of the
driver s death. Studies and statistics provide insight on how cell phone use while driving can cause or
contribute to crashes. In Cellular Phone Use While Driving: Risks and Benefits: Section 3. Risks of
Using a Cellular Phone While Driving , Karen S. Lissy, M.P.H., Joshua T. Cohen, Ph.D., Mary Y.

in crashes and cell phone use, and epidemiological studies to show the risks and outcomes of driving

Synaptic Geotechnical Factors Influence The Standard...
In fact, synaptic geotechnical factors influence the standard penetration test results of similar sand
soils. Frequently, testing procedures attribute part of these mutations. Therefore, normalizing the
results to a standard rod energy ratio usually eliminate such procedures quandaries (e.g., Skempton,
1986). Moreover, changes in test methods, samplers, hammers, and rods lead to corresponding
variances in N values due to the generated energy losses. Numerous researchers (e.g., Daniel et al.,
2003 and Skempton, 1986) suggested a standard dynamic energy about 60% of the hammer potential
energy (475J) to improve such losses as shown below: Where ENTHRU is, the measured dynamic
energy transmitted from the hammer to the drilling rods. The ... Show more content on

Skempton, 1986, expressed Meyerhof s relation in a general form as follows: Where  v is in (kPa).
Accordingly, the following equation can represent the normalized N1 to DR2 under  v = 98 (kPa):
Skempton, 1986, assumed that (a+b) for sandy soils have a constant value of 41 while Tatsuoka et al.,
1978, examined the accuracy of such assumption. They suggested that such value of 41 is
underestimating the relative density of fine sands and silty sands, whereas, it overestimates the relative
density of coarse gravelly sands. Additionally, Ishihara, 1993, and Cubrinovski and Ishihara, 1999
2000, reported similar conclusions. Skempton, 1986, also included the effect of D50 by declaring that
N values are higher for sands having larger D50 under a given relative density and overburden stress.
Also under the same testing circumstances, the tendency to increase the penetration resistance with
increasing the D50 is possibly related to a similar trend of the angle of internal friction ϕ. While
Cubrinovski and Ishihara, 1999 2000, clearly pointed out that two sand soils having identical fine
content can show remarkably inconsistent stress strain characteristics. Thus, they recommended that
(emax emin) and DR are the most appropriate parameters to explain the behavior of sands. Initially,
they correlated between D50 and (emax emin)

The Concept Of Good And Bad Strategy
The Concept of Good and Bad Strategy The concept of strategy is a fundamental issue for an
organization. A successful organization mostly depends on how much good strategy they have. When
there is good strategy, it can take the company to achieve its goal and vision quite smoothly. However,
if there is bad strategy, the company can be in dangerous situation. Sometimes it can collapse as well.
But good strategy is not only about vision and goals; it is a force of challenges that need to be
achieved foe an organization. From Rumelt s point of view, he mentions that Good strategy should be

But it is not for granted which action could be the main element of good strategy. So the organization
should work on them and find out which is the best strategy. Secondly, a guiding policy is much
needed for the good strategy to work out. Good guiding policy resolves the diagnosed obstacles.
Without a good diagnosis guiding policies cannot be implemented. After taking action on at least on
one phase it can be said if the guiding policy can be implanted or not. Guiding policy often removes
obstacles by sources of advantage. A guiding policy creates advantage by anticipating action and
reaction of others, by reducing complexity and ambiguity of the situation (Rumelt, p85). Thirdly, a set
of coherent actions should be carrying out the guiding policy. Guiding policy and coherent actions are
dependent on each other. The steps within the kernel of strategy should be coherent. They should be
coordinated with each other to make the most of the action. By coherence of kernels strategy can solve
out specific challenges. Sources of Power Good strategy can be achieved by using sources of power
like leverage, proximate objectives, design, focus etc. a good strategy can enhance right focus on
mind, energy and action. This focus leads to outcomes that are source of power leverage. Leverage is
correlated with three facts anticipation, pivot points and concentration. Anticipation is looking onto
other s behavior, policies, preferences, and

  • 2. India s Growth And Deterioration Of Insufficiency Over the last century China and India has had economic growth. There has been substantial deterioration in poverty in both poor countries, but much more so in China. However, that economic growth and deterioration of insufficiency was not spread equally among the lives of the poor especially as it relates to health. In comparison, the health outcome in China has been much better than that of India and has been for numerous decades. According to Kanjilal, Mazumdar, Mukherjee, and Rahman (2010) the lifespan in China had risen in 1975 to a rate that India still had not achieved in the year 2000; as an example, life expectancy rate at birth in India is currently the same as what China s was in 1970. Additionally, 46% of the children age three and under in India are underweight, and only 8% in China; however, for children in India age five and under the mortality rate is more than two times that of China (Jones, Jones, Perry, Barclay, Jones, 2010). Both China and India shared comparable strategies as it relates to development and reform. In 1978, China started reform with a closed non market economy, while India had an open market that was state controlled until 1980 (Cyril, Oldroyd, Renzaho, 2013). The political settings were quite different under which reforms were introduced and executed which made the difference in the consequences amongst the two countries. India is still represented by an open take part multiparty democracy, while China has an authoritarian one party ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the end of colonialism, Indian popular cinema emerged as India s sole model of national unity and films were used as a tool for social critique. 1950 1960: A Golden Age of Indian Cinema 1950s saw the increasing popularity of cinema that derived its inspiration from realism. Foreign influence played a key role in this development. The first International Film Festivals of India were held in 1952. The film festival helped Indian filmmakers learn more about French and Italian neo realist films. Satyajit Ray, with his debut Bengali film, Pather Panchali (1955), became the pioneer of a genre of films that would come to be recognized as Indian parallel cinema. The film won the Best Human Document award at the Cannes Film Festival and brought Indian cinema into the international limelight. Ray s film also marked the beginning of the resurgence of Bengali cinema, where films targeted educated and sensitive viewers. While Indian parallel cinema was making a mark in the festival circuits, traditional Bollywood was gaining popularity overseas. Raj Kapoor, who both directed and acted in his films, played a key role in popularizing mainstream Indian cinema abroad. Kapoor s film Awara (1951), dubbed in Turkish, Farsi, and Arabic, broke box office records in South East Asia and the Middle East. His films were also very popular in Russia and he reached such heights of popularity that the Russians paid tribute to him as one of great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay Comparing Popol Vuh And The Odyssey Popol Vuh and The Odyssey are epic stories that are considered, cultural touchstones; they dramatize the life of a nation and help bind it together (Lawall, 3076). The two stories both form a connection to the culture of Mayan, Popol Vuh, and Greek, The Odyssey, partly through the monsters that preside in each epic. Because of the detailed descriptions of monsters or evil people and the known information pertaining to each story s culture, the two can be connected. Therefore, Popol Vuh and The Odyssey are comparable by cultures through the monsters that each story depicts. The monsters in Popol Vuh, known as the lords of the underworld, are extremely important to Mayan Culture. In the cycle of tales that comprises Part 3, the most celebrated portion of the Popol Vuh, Hunahpu and Xblanque vanquish the lords of the Maya underworld, called Xibalba (a term of obscure etymology, provisionally translated place of fright ). This material, likewise, is Central American and quintessentially Mayan. Scenes from the story are preserved on painted vases of the classic period, recovered by archaeologists from Maya burial chambers. Evidently, the sequence of events, in which the heroes twin fathers, One Hunahpu and Seven Hunahpu, are undone by Xibalba and are ultimately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. Vertical Integration In Hollywood Industry With the coming of sound came the birth of Hollywood. As Hollywood progressed, stars were made and so were millions. But these millions of dollars were being given to the top 8 companies in the industry, The Big Five: Warner Bros., MGM/Loew s, Paramount, 20th Century Fox, and RKO, and The Little Three: United Artists, Columbia, and Universal. These companies controlled how their films were made, where they were shown, which films played first and for how long, a clear example of vertical integration. Most of them bought a chain of theaters, only playing their respective companies films, which deeply angered independent theater owners. The independents saw millions of dollars shoot directly to Hollywood theaters, away from their own box offices. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the 1960s and the First Golden Age of Hollywood Movie Making, there is a surge of films that are linked to directors and/or actors and not the company. There was no more The Big Five and The Little Three ; all of the companies were equal, except for RKO because they went out of business. The aftermath of the court case ushered in the Film School Generation. During this era and years after individuals, not companies, were one to watch. In 1972, Francis Ford Coppola s The Godfather put Paramount back on the map, after things were awry because of the case. For the first 26 days of release, The Godfather brought an unheard of one million dollars per day (Gomery and Pafort Overduin 253). Other members of the movie brats generation introduced the blockbuster phenomenon. Steven Spielberg did Universal a favor with Jaws (1975) and George Lucas for 20th Century Fox with Star Wars (1977) (Module 14; Gomery and Pafort Overduin 252 254). The American New Wave allowed Hollywood companies to not compete for the top spot in terms of numbers, but to create a Conglomerate Hollywood. Not only did the court case help steer Hollywood into a Blockbuster era, it made way for independent films to be cherished as well. • 7. Compare And Contrast Jefferson And Colby s Survey At their core, both ordnance Thomas Jefferson s Land ordnance of 1785 and Thomas Colby s survey of Ireland were attempts at surveying and quantifying absolute space with the aim of eventually transforming it into abstract space. In Jefferson s case, the land was surveyed so that settlers and prospectors could purchase farmland west of the Appalachian Mountains, north of the Ohio River and East of the Mississippi River. This was done as a method of raising revenue as Congress didn t yet possess the power to use taxation as a source of revenue. It was also carried out to minimize disputes over land borders and to give landowners a concrete idea of the land that they owned. Unlike Jefferson s survey however, it was also carried out with the intent of planning and mapping the land out militarily. This was a deterrent to potential Irish rebels following the O Neill s rebellions and the murder of Richard Bartlett and other cartographers. Another tool developed for the survey was powerful Drummond or Limelight which produced a very intense, white light which could be seen for miles once lit. Due to these developments, the maps finalized in 1846 at a scale of six inches to one mile were a world first in terms of accuracy and increased detail for urban areas. Jefferson s survey, which took place almost forty years earlier, used an arguably more primitive yet organized method of organizing lands into tessellating squares of thirty six square miles called townships. King Harold II was the last Anglo Saxon King of England. In the year 1066 a great battle took place that would change the way London lived forever. This battle was called The Battle of Hastings. The battle was not actually fought in the town of Hastings but rather fought roughly seven miles away from the town. The reason they called the Battle, the Battle of Hastings was because back in the middle ages era battle was important. The people of 1066 agreed that battle was wealthy. • 11. The Use Of Protective Lung Strategies And Effects On... A research study can be broken out into 4 different parts: topic, problem, purpose and questions. Aligning these components will make the article cohesive in its content and guarantee that the author is staying on track. I examined three scholarly articles that describe studies related to the field of Respiratory Therapy. I reviewed each article to determine the topic, problem, purpose and question to see if the authors were able to maintain alignment throughout the article. Article 1 Effect of a Protective Ventilation Strategy on Mortality in the Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (Amato et al.,). The topic of the article is the use of protective lung strategies and the effects they have on mortality rate for patients with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). The problem the authors, and practitioners around the world, face is that traditional methods for mechanical ventilation damage already diseased lungs which increases the mortality rate of patients with ARDS. The purpose of this study is to define what lung protective strategies are comprised of and to determine if using these strategies will reduce pulmonary complications which will ultimately decrease mortality rates. The questions the authors focused on were: What are the components of a lung protective strategy. Will lung protective strategies decrease pulmonary complications in patients with ARDS? Will decreasing pulmonary complications in this group decrease mortality rates? The authors did a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass Rhetorical... In chapter seven of the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, Douglass is finally aware of his approximate age, and is burdened with the thought of being a slave for life. At the age of 12, it is not very encouraging to be given the description of a slave for life. Douglass uses his newfound reading and writing skills to cleverly comprehend the book The Columbian Orator, and the speeches from the Catholic emancipation it contains, in his favor. The book Douglass discovers does a good job of supporting his invalidation of slavery as well as providing him with knowledge and reasonable arguments. The most interesting part about Douglass encounter with The Columbian Orator is the personal context he takes it in. He reads the dialogue between the master and his slave, and applies it to his own life. Douglass is both fascinated and fueled by what the context of the dialogue has to offer, the intelligence of the slave in it, and the result of the conversation between the two characters. After having run away and been recaptured three separate times, the master in the text emancipated the slave. The drive Douglass had most likely came from the shocking result of the voluntary emancipation of the slave on the part of the master. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 14. A Separate Peace, by John Knowles Essay People frequently betray others because of the evil in their hearts. In A Separate Peace, John Knowles uses the pureness of the rakish Finny to portray the savage or bad side of the vulpine Gene. He also uses it to prove that peace is exceedingly difficult to acquire until a person accepts the ignorance in their own heart. That means that acceptance is the key to finding peace. Thus, Gene finds his peace when Finny forgives him and when Gene learns to forgive himself as well. Gene assumes that Finny and he despise each other, until he becomes aware of how flawless Finny really is, which Gene loathes. Initially, Gene concludes that Finny wants to surpass him. He thinks that the both of them are enemies yet Gene truckles under Finny. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even after everything Gene has done, Finny still acquits him before passing away. Finny avers that Gene just does not know what does. Finny takes the guilt of Gene with him and removes his ignorance. But, Gene must bear the darkness in him or he will perpetually be his own vile rival. When Gene bounces the limb and causes the incident, he draws out the evil in his heart. By carrying out such a crude act, Gene depletes his purity, as well as his envy. Finny, naturally, does not blame Gene and strives to create verisimilitude . Gene tries to tell Finny about the accident and even tries to accuse himself, but Finny refrains to listen. When Brinker questions Gene in the Butt Room, Gene equivocates and attempts to bury his tracks with sarcasm. Gene guards his secret from himself, as well as others. He, like most people, does not want to recognize the reality and wants to eschew it. Ultimately, Gene acknowledges to himself what he has done and accepts that, there was always something deadly lurking in anything I wanted, anything I loved. And if it wasn t then, for example with Phineas, then I put it there myself (Knowles 101). Gene realizes the bad in his heart and it scares him. He shows how a person can destroy and that person must remove sin in order to accomplish a separate peace. Gene advances by gaining knowledge from Finny and matures from his experiences. • 15. Complications Of Suicide And Suicide Suicide is defined as the act of taking one s own life voluntarily. Sometimes, talking about this situation makes people very uncomfortable because, according to today s society, it s a terrifying word. For this reason, most people try to avoid this subject they are unwilling to talk about it or deal with it. Suicide has become the third leading cause of death for teenagers; the rate of suicide has increased dramatically over the years. Teenagers who commit suicide suffer from a severe case of depression, leading them to think that the only solution to end their pain is by ending their own life. The difference in gender plays a role in how one may take their life. Males usually use guns or knives to hurt themselves while females usually use pills. It s important to take this subject seriously and try to find different solutions for this social issue by applying a variety of sociological theories including the structural functionalism, the conflict theory and the symbolic interactionist. First of all, according to the functionalism, society is a complex system whose part interconnect to promote a stable society. The structural functionalism falls under the macro perspectives, it s based on the works of Emile Durkheim, who wanted to prove that the social forces can affect people s behavior. The parts of the society are composed of the social institutions, they are identified with a social purpose and permanence, each one of them has a different objective and role in the functioning of the society. All the institutions depend on each other and if one of them stops doing their job, all the society will be affected. The reason for the existing of social issues is the changes that happens in the society, changes in traditions, changes in norms and values. For example, the rates of suicide increased during the war and economic depression because people found it hard to lose everything during these two events, so they thought that the only solution for this problem is the suicide. Some people find it hard to adapt to these changes; this failure leads to social problems. For example, some people commit suicide because of other people bullying and or cyberbullying. In hopes of preventing a loss in the war, Germany devised the Schlieffen plan to ensure victory; However, not only did their plan for war fail to recognize potential threats and factors, but their lack of communication and cooperation also contributed to an overall defeat. Germany s loss in the two front war and World War I was ultimately the fault of their poor strategizing. In fear that Russia would fully mobilize sooner than expected, Moltke was forced to send troops from the western front to the eastern front two years prior to the scheduled date. Due to a lack of preparation and reasonable strategy, The Schlieffen Plan failed to execute properly. Thirty four divisions were expected to invade Belgium and rapidly attack France with little resistance from Belgium, and a smaller army was scheduled to remain prepared to battle the responsive French army on the Franco German frontier and gradually progress eastward, enticing the French army to move forward, eventually resulting in the defeat of the French. Afterwards, the front lines were expected to move towards Russia. This, however, did not go as scheduled because the Plan lacked flexibility, and every mistake and delay would further destroy Germany s possibility of victory. As German troops arrived in Belgium, they realized that they had, mistakenly, underestimated the Belgian army, which refused to permit them from entering France through their land. MU The game is based on a peer to peer (P2P) model. Each terminal refreshes a screen at 60 Hz and sends media units (MUs), each of which includes information about the position, velocity, and time stamp, to the other terminal. We have two types of MUs: One has the position information of the mallet, and the other has that of the puck. Networked Air Hockey using Haptic media Improve interactivity of the air hockey game through applying prediction logic to adaptive delta causality control. The value of ∆ is dynamically changed according to the network delay for MUs of the mallet, and is shared among terminals Then, each terminal sends a changed value of ∆ to the other terminals. The terminal selects the largest value from among the changed values as a new value of ∆. The adaptive delta causality control scheme with prediction outputs each Media Unit by predicting the future position later than the output time of the received MU by the prediction time Tpredict ( ≥ 0) ms to keep the interactivity high. The Statuette of A Standing Woman and the other Tanagra figurines, however, marked a new trend in Greek art of examining and representing common women in every day pursuits. Marking women as worthy of notice just for existing rather then needing special status to be recognized. (Department of Greek and Roman Art, 2007). The culture of Egypt at the time The Offering Bearer was made seems to be one that reserved art for chronicling and celebrating fantastic or sacred occurrences, whereas Greek art at the time of the Tanagra figurines had learned to find artistic potential in every day life. Egyptian life was still heavily tied to absolute rule of pharaohs and worship of multiple gods as a defining force in everyday life. Materials and tools would have been scarce and most art reserved for the ruling or wealthy classes. Greece however, was an evolving culture. Greece had a history of embracing new ideas in social, scholarly, and artistic endeavors. In conclusion both sculptures depict a common thread in the society which created them. One a common occurrence where the act being portrayed elevates the female subject to a more important position then she would otherwise have enjoyed the other the beauty of women in common life. Effects Of Alcohol Abuse And Alcoholism When entering the field of social work, a person should understand the effects of alcohol, not only on an individual, but also the effects on the families. Alcohol is one of the many substances that people use and abuse. Since alcohol is legal for any one over the age of twenty one, many people begin drinking and then develop an addiction to the substance (Goldberg, 2016). Alcoholism effects people of all ages, background, social status, or ethnic group (National Institute on Drug Abuse, 2016). A social worker should understand how to assess and intervene families who are struggling with alcohol addiction in a way that is both ethical and culturally competent (National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, 2005). The main goal for a social worker is to promote well being and help provide the basic needs of all people (National Association of Social Workers, 2008). To begin, a social worker must first assess the situation that is before them and collect as much information as possible. Several questions need to be asked to either the family or the person who has alcoholism. For example, on average, how many days a week does the person consume alcohol? On those days, how many alcoholic beverages are consumed? In the last thirty days how many times have you had more than four alcoholic beverages? These questions need to be asked first because a social worker needs to know how severe the problem is (National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, 2005). In some cases ... He didn t even need to put himself in danger. It was not necessary for his cause to put himself in danger, he only wanted to protect Tom, which someone else could have done. It was not his job to protect Tom, only to represent him. Atticus may have taken the case because of Scout and Jem. He wanted to be a good role model for his children so they would look up to him and follow in his footsteps. He wanted to set a good example for Scout and Jem and teach them to stand up for what is right. He wanted his children to go against racial prejudice and follow what they believe. You can prove this because in the book, Atticus tells Scout to view everybody as equals. He even has Walter Cunningham over for dinner so he can prove this. • 38. New Age Dating Sociology Historically dating, navigating relationships and ending relationships had been quite the difficult task. The introduction of the internet, texting, and social networking has changed the way individuals communicate amongst each other. For this reason, many researchers are interested in how gender plays a role in an individual s concepts of new age dating, flirting, hook up culture, breaking up and relationships in relations to new media. This paper will argue that new age media has enhanced communication and mitigates the miscommunication hypothesis to an extent. Established within Navigating Ambivalence: How Heterosexual Young Adults Make Sense of Desire Differences , by Melanie A. Beres, Charlene Y. Senn and Jodee McCaw, the miscommunication ... The existence of these cultural norms continue onto the youth and impact their sexuality and behaviour. That being said however there is a distinction to the modern day with new age media. Acquaintances can now be better established through digital profiles, knowledge can be readily shared, thoughts and feelings are better formulated, and distance between the parties allows for better managing of the situation. This is especially true in regards to breaking up within relationships. The distance aspect allows the individual to disassociate from the other person with minimal knowledge to the outcome. Ambiguity and social habits remain the same with new age media but given the explicit, slow response and distant nature of new media in comparison to in person discussion allows for a potentially safer, manageable and controlled environment. While this conclusion outright ignores falsifying personalities and information completely, such as in predatory behaviours, the argument that communication between two parties with romantic interest is enhanced with the use of new age media has significant ... • 39. Ivanov-Erickson Coming Home Analysis April 29th, 2017 I attended a live performance at Marygrove college titled New heights. The variations of styles and meaning behind the choreography kept me wanting more. While some acts were very facile to comprehend, others bemused me, but all together it was prodigious. The clothing, the background lights, the music, and the prosthetics brought the whole show together. I was intrigued with every last performance that day. As stated before the meaning behind some of the performances were not easy to understand. Such as the first act Urgencia choreographed by Roger Jeffrey. Dressed in white leotards, the dancers leaped, tumbled, and more all across the stage. But as I watched in amazement, I couldn t grasp the meaning or the theme of ... Beginning with no music and a grieving mother in a church carrying a can of Arizona. Dressed in a black dress and a black hat with a veil, you could distinguish the sorrow. Now when the other dancer came out he was dressed in a gray hoodie and blue jeans.Right away I knew this was a dedication to Trayvon Martin along with other black men who were murdered senselessly. It was beautiful, with the lighting and music, I just couldn t stop gazing. Takin over was another combination of hip hop and contemporary. The performers wore dark purple shorts and black over tops. It was really cool to watch. In Kombat the two dancers were dressed in a knight uniforms accompanied by fake swords and knight like helmets. The dance was marvelous with the smoke, lighting, and the suspenseful music. At the end when the two battled and the knight murders Chlorinda, not knowing it was her until she removed her helmet, was just heart wrenching. Now Women of the water began with a woman talking about water and woman with pictures of bodies of water, land, and women of divergent cultures. As the voice went off the dances came out taking their place on stage. The dancers wore gray leotards along with dark beige skirts. This dance contained many contract and release movements. I especially loved when the dancers would form a circle and unfold just like a flower. The last piece was Danse Brilliante , was wonderful to watch. With the dancers dressed in light purple, blue and pink dresses while the males wore all white along with dark beige vest. The bright lighting, the dance technique, and the classical music brought the piece to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Battle of Calabria, (known to the Italian Navy as the Battle of Punta Stilo) was a naval battle during the Battle of the Mediterranean in World War II. It was fought between the Italian Royal Navy (Regia Marina) and the British Royal Navy and the Royal Australian Navy. The battle occurred 30 miles to the east of Punta Stilo, the toe of Italy (Calabria), on 9 July 1940. 11 When World War II opened, it was much to the surprise of the Italian forces who, like many in Europe, did not expect conflict until 1941 at the earliest. At the time their forces in Libya were ill equipped for war, and the Italian fleet was forced to start large supply operations in order to bring them up to fighting condition. ... • 41. Ethical Dilemmas Of The Stockholm Syndrome So many times as humans we are so quick to judge other people. We are so quick to stamp a label at something that does not normal in our own eyes. We are so eager to paint the picture of a road as being a two way street that we forget that sometimes there might be other roads attached on the sides of those two roads that lie ahead. One of these instances that I plan on exploring further past the naked human eye is the Stockholm Syndrome. I plan on discussing the history behind the condition. How the condition came about and what it is named after. Who is most affected with this condition and who some of the symptoms that the people affected with this condition could potentially present. Of course, like many great, well known conditions that are present in the world, there are some ethical dilemmas that are of topic amongst the population. For an example, some of the people that are affected with the disease might participate in illegal activities. Should the people be convicted of the crimes that they involuntarily participated in or be excused of the crimes? Another area that also plan to investigate about the Stockholm Syndrome is the embedded health messages that are in the entertainment media; specifically the movies that are produced and aired for the public to watch, relate and educate. At 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, August 23, 1973 a lone gunman destroyed a bank called Sveriges Kreditbank with a machine gun while yelling the words the party has just begun! Four ... • 43. Dangers Of Cell Phone Use While Driving Cell phones play a very large role in most people s lives, but the continuous use of them has sparked the controversy of whether or not these devices plague drivers. Improvements in technology and human dependency on having a cell phone has led to the increase of cell phone use while driving and crashes related to this behavior. Studies and simulations have been conducted to put the controversy at ease accompanied by state governments passing bans on hand held devices. The magnitude of the issue of cell phone use while driving is proven by the articles Cellular Phone Use While Driving: Risks and Benefits: Section 3. Risks of Using a Cellular Phone While Driving by Karen S. Lissy, M.P.H., Joshua T. Cohen, Ph.D., Mary Y. Park, M.S., and John D. Graham, Ph.D. and The Use of Cell Phones While Driving . Federal and state governments should enact bans on cell phone use while driving because missing a message or call is better than a loved one receiving the message of the driver s death. Studies and statistics provide insight on how cell phone use while driving can cause or contribute to crashes. In Cellular Phone Use While Driving: Risks and Benefits: Section 3. • 44. Synaptic Geotechnical Factors Influence The Standard... In fact, synaptic geotechnical factors influence the standard penetration test results of similar sand soils. Frequently, testing procedures attribute part of these mutations. Therefore, normalizing the results to a standard rod energy ratio usually eliminate such procedures quandaries (e.g., Skempton, 1986). Moreover, changes in test methods, samplers, hammers, and rods lead to corresponding variances in N values due to the generated energy losses. Numerous researchers (e.g., Daniel et al., 2003 and Skempton, 1986) suggested a standard dynamic energy about 60% of the hammer potential energy (475J) to improve such losses as shown below: Where ENTHRU is, the measured dynamic energy transmitted from the hammer to the drilling rods. Accordingly, the following equation can represent the normalized N1 to DR2 under  v = 98 (kPa): Skempton, 1986, assumed that (a+b) for sandy soils have a constant value of 41 while Tatsuoka et al., 1978, examined the accuracy of such assumption. They suggested that such value of 41 is underestimating the relative density of fine sands and silty sands, whereas, it overestimates the relative density of coarse gravelly sands. Additionally, Ishihara, 1993, and Cubrinovski and Ishihara, 1999 2000, reported similar conclusions. Skempton, 1986, also included the effect of D50 by declaring that N values are higher for sands having larger D50 under a given relative density and overburden stress. Also under the same testing circumstances, the tendency to increase the penetration resistance with increasing the D50 is possibly related to a similar trend of the angle of internal friction ϕ. While Cubrinovski and Ishihara, 1999 2000, clearly pointed out that two sand soils having identical fine content can show remarkably inconsistent stress strain characteristics. Thus, they recommended that (emax emin) and DR are the most appropriate parameters to explain the behavior of sands. Initially, they correlated between D50 and (emax emin) ... • 45. The Concept Of Good And Bad Strategy The Concept of Good and Bad Strategy The concept of strategy is a fundamental issue for an organization. A successful organization mostly depends on how much good strategy they have. When there is good strategy, it can take the company to achieve its goal and vision quite smoothly. However, if there is bad strategy, the company can be in dangerous situation. Sometimes it can collapse as well. But good strategy is not only about vision and goals; it is a force of challenges that need to be achieved foe an organization. From Rumelt s point of view, he mentions that Good strategy should be simply manages to meet the challenges an organization faces. It is not about achieving goals but moving the organization forward. Good strategy is all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But it is not for granted which action could be the main element of good strategy. So the organization should work on them and find out which is the best strategy. Secondly, a guiding policy is much needed for the good strategy to work out. Good guiding policy resolves the diagnosed obstacles. Without a good diagnosis guiding policies cannot be implemented. After taking action on at least on one phase it can be said if the guiding policy can be implanted or not. Guiding policy often removes obstacles by sources of advantage. A guiding policy creates advantage by anticipating action and reaction of others, by reducing complexity and ambiguity of the situation (Rumelt, p85). Thirdly, a set of coherent actions should be carrying out the guiding policy. Guiding policy and coherent actions are dependent on each other. The steps within the kernel of strategy should be coherent. They should be coordinated with each other to make the most of the action. By coherence of kernels strategy can solve out specific challenges. Sources of Power Good strategy can be achieved by using sources of power like leverage, proximate objectives, design, focus etc. a good strategy can enhance right focus on mind, energy and action. This focus leads to outcomes that are source of power leverage. Leverage is correlated with three facts anticipation, pivot points and concentration.
