Repressed Memory Research Paper
Memory is a tool we use to encode, store, and retrieve. Memory is also utilized for daily functioning.
Memory is the mental faculty of retaining and recalling past experiences (Matlin, 2009). We all tend to
reassure our memories are accurate and precise and that we would be able to recall any event if
anything should occur. People might believe memory is like a camcorder that can be replayed,
however memory can be selective and reconstructive. As mentioned above memory is stored so it can
be retrieved later, but what if we forgot a particular kind of memory. This technique is called
repression. Repression in memory is ....................................... The earliest theory of repressed memory

We identify this as individuals when we receive input and alter the actual outcome of our recollection
(Matlin, 2009). We also can relate that false memories occur during times of remembrance when we
are not fully capable of interpreting the memory in its entirety. We do understand, however, as
individuals we form false memories under any circumstance. Whether we are amongst other
individuals, in a comfortable environment, or even at the expense of a therapeutic environment, our
represses memories become false. We shall have the false memories as long as our memory serves us
correctly and incorrectly given the circumstances and situations. Although research has been
conducted to find why we have these tendencies, further research is still needed to fully understand
why we form false

Examples Of Greed In Julius Caesar
An Honorable Man : Greed vs. Honorability Honor is a word defined as worthy of high respect . In
Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, honorability is one of the driving forces of the play s central
plot. From the murder plot to the incriminating funeral speeches, honorability is lost, questioned, and
acted upon for the majority of the plot. When it comes to the question of who is the most honorable
man between Marc Antony and Marcus Brutus, the answer is not immediately clear. Through the first
two acts, as these men develop, grow, and change their ways of thinking, both men seem to be equally
valid candidates. Acts three through five are when their true colors begin to emerge, and like a
butterfly from its cocoon, their inner thoughts and motives are exposed. Then, the true answer
becomes clear: Brutus is the more honorable man. Why is this? He thinks of others before himself
when it comes to making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before he agrees to join the conspiracy against Caesar, Brutus is seen having an internal conflict with
himself over whether this would be the moral thing to do or not. He says: It must be by his death, and
for my part I know no personal cause to spurn at him But for the general. (2.1.10 12) These lines
indicate that while Brutus himself had nothing against Caesar, and had no reason to personally want to
kill him, he is doing it for the sake of the Roman people, as he believes that they are in danger of what
Caesar might become when he is crowned. Further, this shows that Brutus is a selfless man who thinks
of the sake of the public before his own personal gain. Later, when he receives the forged letters
written by Cassius to persuade him to join the conspirators, he says: Am I entreated To speak and
strike? O Rome, I make thee promise, If the redress will follow, thou receivest Thy full petition at the
hand of Brutus!

Drug Patents Essay
Why do consumers purchase specific drugs for various ailments, sicknesses or diseases they might
have? Why do physicians prescribe certain drugs over competitive drugs that may be available to the
public? Why is it that most of us can easily name specific drugs that fit the many ailments of today s
society? On the surface the answer might be as simple as good TV advertising or radio commercials or
even internet adds. The truth of matter is the major pharmaceutical manufacturers own the patents on
these drugs and this gives them all of the marketing budget and muscle they need to promote the drug
and control the pricing. The incentives for larger pharmaceutical companies are very enticing and as a
result, they don t mind spending the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If multiple drugs are created for the treatment of similar symptoms or illnesses, they can each receive
a patent providing they are not identical in formulation and don t have the same key active ingredient
in them. A patent can only last for 20 years and as a result, new drug companies could potentially take
over the drug formulation. Given the fact that drug pharmaceuticals are always advancing, their will
most likely always be new drugs that are even better (Lehman 4).
The main purpose of creating the drug patent is to achieve market exclusivity for the product created.
With only select brands of the same drug available it is much easier to market and sell the product.
Companies are able to determine their price which allows them to achieve maximum profit. The
importance of making a large profit in the pharmaceutical industry is that drug testing and clinical
trials are extremely expensive. In many cases the profit gained by selling expensive products will be
allocated for future endeavors such as the creation of a future drug, or of the improvement of the drug
already on the market. New research is done every day to find the new miracle drug that will fix
whatever illness is at hand (FDA). If the selling price exceeds the production cost, the pharmaceutical
companies will continue to receive a large profit. Often the company will choose to continue their
research, making advancements to the existing drug, that way it can

Manslaughter Vs Manslaughter Cases
The Supreme Court declared unconstitutional the emplacement of the mandatory death sentence. This
declaration makes certain assumptions about crime and criminals. These assumptions include the
notion that not all crimes are equal in severity. Severity of crimes differs from case to case.
Manslaughter can range from a driver unintentionally killing a pedestrian to a disgruntled ex
employee shooting his ex boss. One of these manslaughter cases proves intentional, while the other
case proves accidental. Both cases fit the description of manslaughter, but both men are not
necessarily menaces to society. The driver made a mistake, whereas the shooter did not. As
evaluations of each case persist, the driver would likely receive a lesser sentence.

The Positive And Negative Effects Of Altruism
Suppose a reader is reading a mystery novel and he is close to completing the book; however, it is
very late at night and he has to wake up early the next morning. He has two options: he can finish the
book, fulfill his desire to know who killed the victim, and not get the proper amount of sleep he needs,
or he can go to sleep, receive plenty of rest, feel refreshed the next morning, and wait until that
evening to finish the novel. He would be altruistic to his body and his health if he went to bed early;
however, he would be selfish to his body if he stayed up and finished the novel (Le Morvan).
Altruism, which has both positive and negative effects, is a controversial character trait; however, it
ultimately promotes compassion for the human race and help for the ecosystem.
In a world where altruism exists, selfishness exists as well (Le Morvan). Selfishness is when a person
puts his or her interests before other people s interests, and altruism is when a person puts other people
s interests before his or her own interests (Le Morvan). Martin Luther King believed with all of his
heart and soul that every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in
the darkness of destructive selfishness (Soosai Nathan). People have a choice to help others or to help
themselves, and their decisions can either be helpful or destructive, altruistic or selfish. According to
numerous studies, different environmental and circumstantial factors affect how a

Code Of Ethics In The Criminal Justice Profession
Having a code of ethics in justice professions is an essential memo to have for each member of the
organization. Most organizations provide a code of ethics to their employees and it is important to
know a person s rights and limitations before taking action. So what kind of repercussions are there
for justice professionals and their unethical actions? There is the Police Act for example, which
consists of all police officer s authorities, rights, limitations and the way they can be prosecuted for
their actions. Criminal justice professionals are involved in coercion because of the amount of power
they are given (Pollock, 2015). This is why things like the Police Act were put into motion to help
minimize the risk of corruption in justice

Wrongful Conviction Essay
Nothing is flawless, and this is especially true of governments, which are simply collections of flawed
individuals attempting to serve, or in some cases control, a larger group of flawed individuals. Despite
this, a large portion of the population accepts the government s procedures and regulations without a
second thought. Dr. Brian Farrell s lecture titled Wrongful Convictions, an article about false
confessions by Douglas Starr titled The Interview, and even the events surrounding Prohibition are
just some examples of a government that may provide order, but is far from perfect. RULES AND
PROCEDURES ARE NOT ALWAYS BENEFICIAL AND CAN EVEN LEAD TO UNDESIRABLE
CONSEQUENCES. The government of the United States in particular is bound to make mistakes as
regular citizens have a large amount of influence in policy making through elections, yet ... Show

While many supported the idea of Prohibition, it caused a great deal of consequences that can still be
seen to this day. In 1920 could anyone have believed that the Eighteenth Amendment, ostensibly
addressing the single subject of intoxicating beverages, would set off an avalanche of change in areas
as diverse as international trade, speedboat design, tourism practices, soft drink marketing, and the
English language itself? Or that it would provoke the establishment of the first nationwide criminal
syndicate, the idea of home dinner parties, the deep engagement of women in political issues other
than suffrage, and the creation of Las Vegas (Okrent 3)? While Prohibition had many positive
consequences, the negative consequences were overlooked and many suffered because of the
government s decision to restrict the consumption of alcohol. There is no doubt that Prohibition, a
product of an imperfect government, was far from perfect and led to undesired

Police Brutality In All American Boys
Without fiction our imaginations will never be achieved, everything will be boring and too real. In
result, children will be forced to grow up faster than they should be. In this book however it may be
real in some situations in life, it is a fake story about a young black male who gets wrongfully accused
of stealing. He is then abused by a police officer who was on duty at the time and ends with injuries
that puts him in the hospital.Without having fiction we would have never thought of how badly police
can act upon and black male. This helps us see more situations on whether or not the police or citizen
was at fault. Fiction needs to be included in the curriculum because we can never imagine situations
that can often happen in real life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many years later, little had changed. A black man named Rodney King was involved in a high speed
chase in Los Angeles. California, on March 3, 1991. Police pulled him from the car and beat him. A
bystander took video footage of the beating. The four police officers involved were indicted, but they
were acquitted in 1992. ( Police Brutality and Race. )The quote from the article police brutality and
race shows a situation that happened in 1991 that is similar to the incident in the book. A lot of times
when incidents like police brutality the police officers often win because they are doing their jobs
when in reality they are often accusing many citizens. Often cases of police brutality the civilian that
is abused is male and black. This is because they are stereotyping thinking they are up to no good
when they can be innocent by standers. Racism and stereotyping in most cases end badly. Police
officers abuse their powers and hurt and or injure people because they assume which often leads to a
bad ending. FBI statistics show that white officers killed black suspects twice a week in the United
States over a seven year period. That s an average of 96 times a year. (police officers abuse their
power).studies show that WHITE police officers are the ones to kill BLACK suspects due to

The Advantages Of Asexual And Sexual Devices
Both asexual and sexual reproduction results in offspring with [think of good topic sentence. . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . .]. Asexual reproduction results in offspring with identical genetic information, and
sexual reproduction results in offspring with genetic variation.
Asexual reproduction is a type of reproduction that creates uniform offspring. Asexual reproduction
occurs mainly in single celled organisms (organisms with one cell), and in a few multicellular
organisms (an organism with more than one cell). Two examples of single celled organisms are
bacteria and amoeba. Bacteria is a single celled organism forming one of the three domains of life.
Amoeba is a single celled animal that catches food and moves about by extending fingerlike
projections of protoplasm. Asexual reproduction requires one parent, and the ... Show more content on

One advantage of sexual reproduction is that it creates offspring with a high genetic variability. This
will increase the diversity of species and the ecosystem since the offspring is diverse. For example,
female lions give birth to about one to five cubs, and all the cubs are genetically different. This will
increase the diversity of lions. Whereas asexual reproduction produces offspring that has the same
genetics as its parent, which lowers the diversity rate of organisms. Another advantage of sexual
reproduction is better agriculture. This is because selective breeding can apply to sexually produced
organisms. Selective breeding when parent organisms are chosen to mate, which produces more
desirable and better plants and animals. An example of selective breeding is corn. Corn used to be
much smaller, and had fewer rows of kernels, however, farmers saved kernels from good plants and
planted them to create more desirable plants like corn, leading better agriculture. Asexual organisms
don t reproduce sexually, so they can t go through selective

Analysis Of Peter Singer s Famine, Affluence And Morality
In Peter Singer 1972 article Famine, Affluence, and Morality, He offers a situational thought
experiment in which he makes you question your moral values. It goes like this, imagine you re
walking to class and you are feeling good about how great you looked in your brand new $200 shoes.
You pass by this pond and noticed that there is a small child drowning and realize there isn t much
time to call anyone for help. You could stride into the water and pull her to safety, but If you take the
time to remove your shoes and it ll be too late. The second option is that you jump in knowing that the
muddy water would ruin the new shoes. Singer goes on by saying that he s sure that we would all give
the same answer and jump in and save the girl ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are just small ways in which they can improve their lives. The everyday America has this
amount of money sitting around in their coat pocket. So why are these people around the world still
dying? however, most people don t feel the weight of responsibility to help a dying child that they
cannot see or do not know of. People only help went they are faced with the opportunity and then
based their decision to help with their own moral values. Singer created a great thought experiment in
a way that tests one s moral value, but one flaw would be that there wasn t anyone else around in the
situation. You are the only one around in the setting therefore you must help the child. So, the question
is, what if there were many people standing around in the same location? Would we all have to the
responsibility to have to save the child or will we not stand and watch. According to Singer, if you can
help others avoid harm, then you are morally obligated to help them. However, I don t believe this is
always the case. I believe sometimes you might not be benefiting that other person because they have
put themselves in a situation in which they might have caused that upon themselves. An example of
this would be you re at a crosswalk waiting for the light. A man in a sports

The Pathophysiology of Acute Renal Failure Essay
Explain the pathophysiology of acute renal failure. Include pre renal, intrarenal and postrenal causes.
Acute renal failure is a sudden decrease of kidney function often characterized by the loss of
homeostatic equilibrium of the internal medium causing waste accumulation in the blood. Aside from
accumulation of waste products like nitrogen and urea, it is also characterized by a sudden decrease of
glomerular filtration rate (GFR) which disables the kidney from filtering waste products that is
harmful to the body. Evidently, acute renal failure disables the kidney from maintaining fluid and
electrolyte balance. As stated by kidneyatlas.org, causes for acute renal failure are classified into three:
prerenal, intrarenal, and postrenal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Discuss, compare, and contrast the 3 stages. Diagnosing acute renal failure starts off by obtaining the
patient s history, physical examination, and blood and urine studies. The information obtained will
serve as a stepping stone for treating the different stages of acute renal failure. According to the
American Academy of Family Physicians, in pre renal acute renal failure the parenchyma is
undamaged, and the kidneys respond as if volume depletion has occurred . The exams for diagnosing
the pre renal acute renal failure mainly focuses on urine and blood studies because of diminish renal
blood flow. While pre renal focuses more on the urine and blood studies, the damage for intrarenal
acute renal failure (ARF) is evident in the parenchyma. Diagnostic exam for intrarenal ARF and post
renal mostly focuses on biopsy to determine the exact cause of the disorder. However, the downside of
using biopsy as a diagnosis mechanism is that bleeding can occur which adds to further complications.
What are the subjective and objective signs and symptoms of acute renal failure. In this answer,
discuss the following terms: asthenia, azotemia, uremia, oliguria, and anuria. Renal failure are
categorized into three stages: acute renal failure, chronic renal failure, and end stage renal failure. In
acute renal failure, the signs and symptoms are categorized into subjective and objective. As described

Early Christian Practical Issues
Introduction
Around 51 AD, Paul was in the city of Corinth. This city was made up of many different people with
very different ideas concerning God, cults, and moral depravity. While in Corinth, Paul was
approached by a woman named Chloe who described to him the misdeeds of dissention, immorality
and wrong doing in the city. Dismayed, Paul immediately addressed the issues in his letters to the
Corinthians.

8:1 13) Paul found that some believers felt that by eating meat they had a weak conscience because it
had been defiled by the idols (Krell, 1995). Paul tried to show his followers that it was safe to eat with
a clear conscience by eating meat himself. Through this lesson Paul was also trying to teach that love
was more important than freedom (8:1 6) and that knowledge can make us arrogant, but love edifies
(Krell, 1995). With these sayings Paul was giving permission for people to put their pride aside,
remember that there is no such thing as idols and that there is only one true and loving God (Krell,
1995).
9. The Problem of the Role Men and Women Should Have in Christ s Church ~ (1 Cor. 11:1 17) When
Paul first addressed the Corinthians he told them to imitate him and to hold firmly to traditions (v.2).
One of the traditions in Corinth was for women to have their head covered. This was a cultural custom
that Paul initially commends as a symbolic gesture (Kinchen, 2012). Paul also teaches that wives

Spy Drones Research Paper
There are many ways the government uses surveillance; one way is by using Spy drones. Spy drones
are used to fly around the United States and check on the country for anything unusual, including drug
activity, border patrol concerns, and other domestic issues. Even though the government claims spy
drones are protecting Americans they are clearly invading privacy and breaking the Fourth
Amendment as well, they should not be used. Spy drones can be really suspicious at times. Just the
thought of someone flying drones over everyone s head without anyone knowing while they take
pictures and videos should motivate everyone to discuss this. Either way, it is invading our privacy
and breaking the Fourth Amendment. The National Security and Law Enforcement officials think it is
okay to listen to phone calls and look at people s e mails. President Obama assured everyone that they

Compare And Contrast Avengers Vs Dc.
Over the years in the world of comics there has been a major rivalry between Marvel Studios and DC.
Both studios have put out amazing content and are the top in Superhero creation. However, there s
always the question of which one is better. There are two teams, Marvel s Avengers and DC s Justice
League. Each team has multiple members, and it s always been a debate on which team would come
out victorious. In a battle between the Avengers and the Justice League who would win based on the
heroes individual skills? In order to find out how a battle between the two groups would happen we
split the two teams into six different pairs. Each hero was pit against someone who would have a
similar skill set or power level as them. After the sets were created, we then began to find out each
character s individual skills. Assessing the strengths and weaknesses of each hero against the other
created a modest guess on who would win the battle. This is based solely on the skills of each
character and does not factor in battle areas or if the teams were to fight against each other together. ...

(Crutzen 2002). It s possible to set the starting point of the Anthropocene during the current Holocene
epoch. The concept is based off on the agricultural revolution. The use of agriculture as a means of
attaining food for the first civilized societies initiated a constant rise in carbon dioxide that has since

Numerous stratigraphers criticize the Anthropocene theory. They state that well defined evidence to
determine that we have entered a new epoch clearly isn t present yet. When you start naming geologic

Whitney Autin, a stratigrapher (Colleen 2014). At this point, the critical question is indicating when
did we start to leave our signature on this planet. For example, the atomic era, has left traces of
radiation in several locations across the world, and that agriculture s signature in Europe can be

Superworm Lab
The Effect of the Size of a Superworm Introduction: For this experiment we were given superworms
to experiment on. It was up to use students to decide what experiment we were going to perform on
the worms. My group and I decided that we were going to observe how the size of the worms would
affect how they reacted towards natural objects such as: sticks, rocks, leaves, mulch, and a pinecone vs
an artificial object such as a straw. While doing this experiment, we observed the independent
variable, dependent variable, the constants, and the controls of this experiment. I hypothesized that the
larger worms were going to be able to move over the objects and that the smaller worms would have a
more difficult time moving over the objects. Materials and Methods: ... Show more content on

The first thing that we had to do before we even started the experiment was to collect our materials.
We went outside and collected the natural objects we were going to test with, and we found a straw
that we would use as our artificial object. We placed all of our materials onto our desk. The next step
was to get the worms. We ended up getting five worms but due to the death of one, we only tested on
four of the worms. We observed the worms and we made sure to identify the sizes of the worms. After
studying the worms we took the largest worm and decided to test it first. This worm would be
considered extra large . We placed the worm on the table and placed one of the objects in front of it. If
the worm either backed up or moved in another direction away from the object, then on our table that
we constructed, we would give it an X. If the worm approached the object comfortably, then he/she
would get a check for that object on our table. After testing the extra large worm, we tested the large

Public Relations And Communication Management Essay
Introduction
Grunig (2013) sees public relations and communication management as fundamental to the
achievement of organisational goals. A major road and tunnelling project in West Auckland, has
required considerable planning and communication with publics. The Waterview Connection
Development (WCD) is a motorway link between State Highways 16 and 20, which, in part, runs
through tunnels. The WCD aims to provide a direct link between the central business district and the
airport, and an alternative to State Highway 1.
This essay critically assesses how the New Zealand Transport Authority (NZTA) has communicated
with publics during the WCD. It analyses the communication activity, and applies public relations
theory.
Key Publics
Major publics with an interest in the project include residents with properties affected by the noise and
possible shifts of land, road users who may experience delays during construction, and businesses that
may lose of revenue if customers find it difficult to access their premises. Mehta and Xavier (2009)
note engagement relationship strategies used with various publics may be different to each other and
vary over time as different parts of the project are completed. Project managers need to negotiate with
residents, road users and business owners to minimise disruptions.
All affected sections of Auckland s multicultural population should be included in the organisation s
publics. The diversity model (Mersham, Theunissen, Peart, 2009)

Day and Night through a Mother s Eyes Essay
In Alice Walker s Everyday Use the reader is introduced to three main characters, a mother and her
two daughters. The first daughter, Maggie, still lives at home with her mother and is her companion.
Dee, however, moves on with life and goes out to make something of herself in the world. The story is
an account of one of Dee s visits, but the narrator, the mother, makes a very obvious comparison
between Dee and Maggie s looks, intelligence, behaviorism, and values. The reader has a lesson to
learn since the story is told through the mother s eyes. It is amazing that two siblings can grow up in

Although she is jealous of her sister, Maggie more admires her than anything. It is, however, upsetting
that the narrator never suggests Dee has any admiration or respect for Maggie or herself, for that
matter. The story never even suggests that Dee feels sorry for Maggie, instead it can be interpreted that
Dee just looks down on her sister, as she does the rest of her family.
The reader can also learn about the girls from how they treat others. Just like everything else, they are
opposites. Dee would always look anyone in the eye. Hesitation was no part of her nature (92) while
Maggie walks chin on chest, eyes on ground, feet in shuffle (94). Mama also knows that while her
sister is there Maggie will be nervous and stand hopelessly in corners, homely and ashamed of the

and kind of has a superiority complex. Dee is also implied to be manipulative. Dee would read to her
mother and Maggie knowing it was literature beyond their comprehension just so she could show off.

washed us in a river of make believe, burned us with a lot of knowledge we didn t necessarily need to

boys that wanted to date her (95). However, in this context, it is hardly

The Effect Of Culture On Consumer Behaviour
In international market, understanding consumer needs and desired is extremely important to the
corporation in order to market their products and services properly into the market. Consumer
behaviour is a process in where individuals or groups select, buy, use and dispose of the products and
services to satisfy their needs and desires. The organisation simply cannot understand consumption
unless they consider its cultural context, as culture shows how people view leads to their acceptance.
Therefore, the effect of culture on consumer behaviour is powerful. This paper will discuss in more
details about that and further consider whether culture has the greatest influence on consumer
behaviour.
Culture has a complex concept that numerous of researchers talk about in different views. Cultures is
defined as a complex whole that includes of knowledge, belief, art, morals, law, custom and any other
capabilities and habits acquired by a member of the society (Hollensen, 2013). Culture provides the
important background of an individual that offer direction and guidance to its members in all phases
of life. Besides, Sojka and Tansuhaj describe culture as a dynamic set of socially obtains the member
of a particular society s behaviours, with the key element of language, artefacts, belief and values
(Sojka and Tansuhaj, 1995). There are three main characteristics of culture stated on Hollensen s
(2013) book: culture is learned, interrelated and shared. The tangible aspects of culture

Lady Macbeth Analysis
Some actresses see Lady Macbeth as sympathetic to her husband like Sarah Siddons and Kate
Fleetwood, feeling sympathy for Macbeth is a decision both actresses made for Lady Macbeth to be
relatable and more human, Siddons who portrayed her in the mid 1800s said that she approached her
as, keen to present the character in as attractive a light as possible, so sexually appealing fair feminine,
nay perhaps even fragile (Sarah Siddons qtd. In Robert Miola, 94). Siddons saw the character of
Macbeth as honorable and to have him as a husband only proves Lady Macbeth is very taken with
him, having put all of her efforts into seducing such an honorable man. Kate Fleetwood s own
interpretation of Lady Macbeth was very domestic, the societal hostess. In an interview in 2011,
Fleetwood who was directed by her husband Rupert Goold in the 2007 version of the play said that,
When Rupert suggested to me about the domestic side of her, that started to ring really big bells for
me (Fleetwood qtd. In Miola, 135). The argument about how Lady Macbeth truly loves her husband
and tried to summons the spirits is because she knows that Macbeth is very ambitious, and she needs
all the strength she can have to convince him to act out the three witches prophecy. This arguement
and its solution is very valid, Lady Macbeth only acting out for the benefit of her husband, she wants
her husband to be the king of Scotland but it does not mean she wants to queen herself. In an
interview, Fleetwood also

Violence in Contact Sports Essay
THESIS: Contact sports have been here since the medieval times. Soccer was also already being put
into sport use by china in the dynasties. Implied, players on both teams have agreed to be hit, pushed,

Penalty calls on the other hand, calls for more serious infractions, like putting the player in the box ,
and creating power plays for example. The 2004 05 lockouts of the NHL (lasting 310 days, this was
originally the 88th season of the NHL) changed some rules of the league with the offense. It started
with the minor offense: offside . The offside pass or two line pass rule was removed; requiring a
stoppage in play if a pass originating from the defensive team was completed on the offensive side of
the center line. Reinstating the tag up offside, this advantage allows an attacking player to get back
onside by returning to the neutral zone. Changes to the offside rule were intended to increase overall
scoring. Another minor offense is the icing call. A linesman gets stopped in play if a defending player
(other than the goalie himself) touches the puck before an attacking player does. As a result, when a
team is called on the offense of icing, they are not allowed to make a line change before the following
faceoff. Fighting (doesn t happen often), is called in penalties as well, both players have the duration
of five minutes. Usually, a penalized team cannot replace a player that is penalized on the ice
shorthanded for the duration of the penalty. But, if the penalties are coincidental, when two players

Benefits Of Being A Radiologist
A radiologist is someone who looks at medical images (such as X Rays, Computerized Tomography
scans, ultrasounds, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and uses it to detect medical problems. Some of
the duties that radiologists perform include: diagnosing illnesses and treating patients using medical
radiation. A radiologist can work at a public or private hospital or set up their own clinic. Working
conditions for a radiologist who is employed at a hospital will not differ much from a clinic. You will
not have to work not shifts or weekends just like a clinic. Residents usually take care of those shifts.
Some of the skills that are essential for becoming a radiologist include being good following
directions, taking the time to be precise in your measurements and having good communication skills.
I am really good at following directions as I am always scared of the outcome of messing up. I also
take the time to measure things out very carefully unless I am positive that tweaking things a little bit
might result in a better outcome. I do have good communication skills when I am talking directly to a
person in front of me but when I am writing an email I don t seem to describe things in as much detail
as I should. One of the ways to work on this is to ask myself the five W s (Who, What, When, Where,
Why) when writing my email to someone. To become a radiologist one of the first steps that you must
take is to attend college and obtain a bachelor degree in biology or physics. After

Theme Of Death In The Aeneid
Throughout the Aeneid by Virgil, death is a reoccurring theme and each death has its own significance
to the poem. The death of Creusa in book two shows that Aeneas will need a new wife and the death
of Pallas in book ten foreshadows Turnus s future. One of the most interesting deaths is that of Dido
because the responsibility for Dido s death falls on multiple characters: Anna, the goddesses, Venus,
Juno and Rumor, and Dido herself.
Dido is one of the many characters who are responsible for her own death. Before the appearance of
Aeneas in Carthage, Dido was married to another man, Sychaeus. However, Sychaeus was murdered
by Dido s brother who was jealous of his power and money leaving Dido a widow (Aen, 4.23 25). As
a widow, Dido made a vow Never to pledge [herself] in marriage again showing her commitment to
her first and only husband who she passionately loved (Aen,4.19). The importance of this to Dido s
death is that she broke her vow on account that Aeneas was the first man that she has loved since
Sychaeus. However, this love is artificial because it is not her love but love created by Venus. Even
though she has this passion for Aeneas flowing through her veins, she questions herself and whether it
will be worthy to love this man and break the vow. Dido is responsible for her own death because she
was unable to clear her mind and see the dangers of falling in love with Aeneas and the greater the
danger of breaking her vow to Sychaeus. One reason that she decides

directly with the response of money. We say this without deeply considering all that we have to be

Happiness, if it s an Experience , completes the idea that monetary value does not bring true joy. In the
passage, High incomes don t bring you Happiness , the author states that bringing in an over excessive
amount of money will not make one happy. The author said that an overall income of around $75,000

Life evaluation is the idea that if one was to look at themselves while they re in their deathbed, how
would they rate their lifestyle. This is also supported through different statements within the passage,
You can buy Happiness, if it s an Experience . Within this study, it was proven that people enjoyed

Critically Discuss Augustine s Distinction Between Just...
Augustine is highly acclaimed as the originator of the Just War theory. He founded a concept that
would be built upon for many years to come. Augustine argued that war was sometimes sadly an
unfortunate necessity to preserve order in society. He believed that wars should only be undertaken if
they satisfy a certain criteria for a just war. McCellend notes how ‘the original condition of man s
soul was innocence but since the Fall the soul has been tainted and is thus incapable of achieving

Augustine did not accept that justice could be obtained through killing in self defence. One should
only be permitted to kill only under the instruction of God or a legitimate authority ordained by God.
He believed that self defence should never be a valid justification for causing harm to another man.
However, in the Bible one of the ten commandants is that ‘thou shallt not kill . In arguing that killing
is sometimes an unavoidable evil Augustine contradicts traditional Christian doctrine and goes against
the teachings of Jesus. According to Augustine Christians have a moral duty to contribute to the state.
Their duties involve participating in the public office and fighting in a just war if it is deemed
necessary by their ruler Augustine asserted that once a war has been declared the soldier must obey his
leader regardless of whether he is waging a just or unjust war. The soldier is therefore not guilty if the
war he engages in is unjust but instead it is the sole fault of the ruler. Augustine argued that ‘the
soldier is innocent, because his position makes obedience a duty . To punish a soldier for participating
in an unjust war would encourage dissertation and anarchy amongst the ranks. Augustine thus believed

The Partition of India
Today, the legacy of 1947 increasingly poses a threat than any other time before on the subcontinent.
Part has really ended up being a trauma from which the mainland has never completely recouped. Yet
unfortunately, this is not reflected in its history composing, a reality that is regretted by a lot of people.
Alok Bhalla, for instance, in his presentation to an accumulation of Partition stories in English

this is accurate to any degree, this is maybe on the grounds that Indian historiography has centered
more on Independence than on Partition, more on the bringing together constrain of patriotism than
the divisive compels that lease the nation in 1947. For quite a while, Indian history composing
emulated the customary patriot talk in which the part of the incredible Congress pioneers and the

Photographer Lewis Hine captured child labor to highlight the enormous amount of child laborers and
to showcase the substantial social inequality. As a result, states began to pass laws banning child labor.
In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson passed the Keating Owens Act, which outlawed child labor in
manufacturing. The Muckrakers humiliated the government by publishing works that brought great
displeasure to the American people and showcased public dilemma. With the onset of embarrassment

Elevated CO2 increased net photosynthesis in elevated and current Tsoil. Elevated Tsoil increased net
photosynthesis in elevated CO2 but decreased in ambient CO2.
5. The authors don t cite any other works in the abstract because the abstract summarises their entire
experiment and what they hypothesized and found.
6. No, it s not a normal practice to include other studies in the abstract because abstracts give a
summary of what the experiment is about and what will be concluded. Including citations will take the
focus off of the author s experiment.
7. Abstracts are generally 150 200 words.
Introduction
1. Literary review provides background information to give the reader general knowledge about the
topic. This information gradually leads into specific issues that will be presented later in the
introduction.
2. The authors are trying to determine how elevated Tsoil and elevated CO2 will affect the
physiological responses of shade tolerant species in light conditions. Also, how elevated CO2 and high
light treatment affect physiological traits of shade tolerant plants.
3. How does elevated Tsoil and elevated CO2 affect the physiological responses of shade tolerant

Pros And Cons Of Privatizing The United States
Privatizing the United States air traffic control operations may move closer to becoming a reality in
2017 something most airline companies and other industry leaders have been pushing for a long time.
Proponents of shifting away from government control introduced a bill last year that the incoming
president has expressed a willingness to carefully consider. Rep. Bill Shuster (R), who helped draft the
legislation, sees the long overdue shift to satellite based air traffic management as the solution to
lower costs for operators, while making air traffic safer and more efficient for all stakeholders.
Whether global air travel is privately run or government controlled, call center voice recording
activities will still be necessary to ensure control tower staff are fully trained and conversations are
documented for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Supporters for privatizing air traffic control claim that it is time to address long delays and
inefficiencies in an aging airspace network that doesn t fully utilize modern aviation technology. UK
based NATS projects delays will exponentially increase from the current 90,000 minutes a year to
approximately 4 million in the next 15 years unless the United Kingdom government invests in
modernization by replacing outdated airspace technology by switching to satellite based control. In the
United States the federal government has a history of moving at a snail s pace when it comes to
updating national infrastructure. For example, New York City just completed a subway upgrade that
was originally approved in 1929. A revamping of the system similar to the innovative changes that
transformed call center voice recording equipment from simple recording devices to systems that
capture conversations and enable digital archiving and instant sharing via cloud based technology, will
help modernize our airspace management strategies. The time to act is now if we want to avoid
problems in the

Red Ribbon Week In My Life
Journal #3 Unassigned Topic Red Ribbon Week really stuck with me all throughout my life. Majority
of my family members smokes marijuana and I choose not to. My twin sister and I broke the
generational curse. I chose to be drug free because I want more for my life. I have lost a lot of friends
because I did want to go out and party with them. I m so glad that my mother raised me to be a leader
and not a follower. In high school there was numerous of things taking place on and off campus, but I
had never given in to peer pressure. I have a cousin the same age as me and I every time I see him on
the streets it breaks my heart because he s so young and the drugs has taken over his mind and body.
Since my cousin didn t know how to not give into

Literature in No Drama Essay example
By nature, Japanese No drama draw much of their inspiration and influence from the classics. Many
are based on episodes from the most popular classics, like Atsumori, based on the Tale of Heike, or
Matsukaze, which was actually based on a collage of earlier work. Even within these episodes do we
find references to yet more classic works of literature, from the oldest collections of poetry to adopted
religious texts. That isn t to say that No is without its own strokes of creativity the entire performance
is a unique adaptation, and the playwrights had to be both highly educated in the classics, yet geniuses
at the creative aspect of weaving song/poetry, dance, religion and literature together into a heart
wrenching spectacle. It might ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Matsukaze s story is not based on any single work of literature, although there are many
allusions to the chapter of Tale of Genji when he is exiled to Suma. The location is crucial, because it
was in his exile at Suma that Genji took up with the Akashi Lady, and left her his hunting cloak, just
as Yukihira did for the sisters. Besides Tale of Genji, Yukihira, the lover who left the two sisters
behind in the No play, was a popular heroic character for storytelling, as he was the renowned poet
Narihira s older brother and a poet himself. He was a character in the play Shiokumi, which has not
survived into the modern era, but what is known of this play is that it did have a great influence on
Zeami s Matsukaze. Yukihira appeared in this play, and it is about the lives of saltmakers, which the
sisters are supposed to be. Also, in one story in the Senjusho, Yukihira is an exiled heroic character
who stumbles across a diver s daughter and is enchanted by her. While Zeami s sisters Autumn Rain
and Pining Wind are his own creations, they have similar

1900 s Russia Research Paper
In the 1900 s Russia was a world superpower. But the only port, Port Vladivostok, was only accessible
in the summer seasons of Russia. But Japan s fort, Fort Arthur, was open all year long. Russia, who
looking to expand out farther, asked Japan if they could use Fort Arthur for their Navy, and maritime
trades. Russia even went as far as to set up a neutral buffer zone in North Korea on the 39th parallel to
negotiate. Japan however misunderstood this and took it as a threat, bombing their own fort, and
starting the first great war of the 20th century.
Japan was a little country of the east coast of china. This tiny country had been and isolationist
country for a long time, and was in fear that the much larger country of Russia, A well known
expansionist country, would over take them and eradicate their small and dying culture. Japan, not
wanting to loose what little it had, wanted to make a trade with the communist country. The use of
Fort Arthur for the ownership of Korea s in the Asian territories. Russia denied but set up a buffer
zone in north Korea to discuss the issues with Japan. On the 39th parallel. Japan took this as a threat,
and bombed their own fort of the coast of china. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Russian navy based in Fort Arthur were shocked by the losses they suffered in 1904, and even
more so by the death of their commander, Admiral Stepan Makarov, when his ship was blown up by a
mine in April. Their ships spent much of the time in harbour before trying to escape in August 1904
around Korea s peninsula. Vladivostok was in Russia s far eastern provinces. Tsarevitch, was badly
damaged, and the battle line fell into confusion before retreating to harbour. Eventually the fleet was
destroyed by the Japanese force. The fort itself surrendered in January 1905. The Russians sent
another fleet to the far east to redeem the situation but, after an epic voyage, that too was obliterated

Copper Transport Disorders Paper
Background Problem:
Inherited copper transport disorders are caused by a defect in the gene that decodes for copper
transporting ATPases. This defect interferes with how the human body utilizes copper which is
manifested in disorders such as Wilson s disease, Menkes Disease, and the rare Occipital Horn
Syndrome. This article attempts to examine the types of copper transport disorders and focus on the
clinical problems in diagnosis and treatments. Even though there are diagnosis methods and
treatments for these diseases, there are still issues with the available resources. Readers would be
interested in the larger work because early diagnosis and treatment of this disease is critical in
managing the disorders.
Purpose:
When attempting to improve on the efficiency of diagnoses and treatments of copper transport
disorders, it was found that patients with Wilson s disease develop hepatocellular carcinoma even
though they are receiving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The chelating agents given to remove excess copper are given either an hour before meals or two
hours after meals. Due to this, patients tend to become nauseous after consuming their medicine. This
side effect causes many patients to avoid taking their medicine. This is important because by solving
this obstacle, more patients will be more compliant in the treatment of their disease. Secondly, patients
with Wilson s disease have decreased levels of ceruloplasmin. This disrupts the iron homeostasis
which results in the accumulation of both iron and copper in the liver. This information is important
with diagnosing the disease. Another disease, such as hemochromatosis also exhibit high levels of iron
in the body. With this knowledge, when diagnosing patients, physicians should test for both diseases
to avoid wrong medical

My Love Of Travel
For any person that went on vacations as a little kid, there will always be one that sticks out in their
mind. For me that vacation was a 2008 Disney cruise in the Bahamas. As a second grader getting to
miss school was a big deal. This vacation just happened to be during the last week of school that year.
I was incredibly excited to not only miss school but also get to go see a new place. In my family we
love to travel. I ve been in 3 countries and 14 or more states. This vacation was my start to all of these
places and sparked my love to see the world. One of the reasons this vacation influenced my love of
travel was that this was the first time I had been on a big plane. I love to fly places. Flying is a lot
faster than driving places and with two brothers that makes a huge difference.
On this vacation I visited one of the U.S. Virgin Islands, one of the British Virgin Islands, and Disney
s private island, Castaway Cay. Every day of the trip we were either at port on one of these islands or
spending our day on the boat on the way to one of these islands. When we were at port on any of the
islands we were given a time to be back then we were set free to get off of the boat and explore the
island at our own pace. We took a bus tour on one of the islands but on the others we got out and
visited some of the little shops or went to the beach for a day in the sand.
One of the memories that sticks out most to me was when my grandpa and I were standing in the
water at Magens

  • 2. Repressed Memory Research Paper Memory is a tool we use to encode, store, and retrieve. Memory is also utilized for daily functioning. Memory is the mental faculty of retaining and recalling past experiences (Matlin, 2009). We all tend to reassure our memories are accurate and precise and that we would be able to recall any event if anything should occur. People might believe memory is like a camcorder that can be replayed, however memory can be selective and reconstructive. As mentioned above memory is stored so it can be retrieved later, but what if we forgot a particular kind of memory. This technique is called repression. Whether we are amongst other individuals, in a comfortable environment, or even at the expense of a therapeutic environment, our represses memories become false. • 3. Examples Of Greed In Julius Caesar An Honorable Man : Greed vs. Honorability Honor is a word defined as worthy of high respect . In Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, honorability is one of the driving forces of the play s central plot. From the murder plot to the incriminating funeral speeches, honorability is lost, questioned, and acted upon for the majority of the plot. When it comes to the question of who is the most honorable man between Marc Antony and Marcus Brutus, the answer is not immediately clear. Through the first two acts, as these men develop, grow, and change their ways of thinking, both men seem to be equally valid candidates. Acts three through five are when their true colors begin to emerge, and like a butterfly from its cocoon, their inner thoughts and motives are exposed. Then, the true answer becomes clear: Brutus is the more honorable man. Why is this? He thinks of others before himself when it comes to making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before he agrees to join the conspiracy against Caesar, Brutus is seen having an internal conflict with himself over whether this would be the moral thing to do or not. He says: It must be by his death, and for my part I know no personal cause to spurn at him But for the general. (2.1.10 12) These lines indicate that while Brutus himself had nothing against Caesar, and had no reason to personally want to kill him, he is doing it for the sake of the Roman people, as he believes that they are in danger of what Caesar might become when he is crowned. Further, this shows that Brutus is a selfless man who thinks of the sake of the public before his own personal gain. Later, when he receives the forged letters written by Cassius to persuade him to join the conspirators, he says: Am I entreated To speak and strike? O Rome, I make thee promise, If the redress will follow, thou receivest Thy full petition at the hand of Brutus! ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Drug Patents Essay Why do consumers purchase specific drugs for various ailments, sicknesses or diseases they might have? Why do physicians prescribe certain drugs over competitive drugs that may be available to the public? Why is it that most of us can easily name specific drugs that fit the many ailments of today s society? On the surface the answer might be as simple as good TV advertising or radio commercials or even internet adds. The truth of matter is the major pharmaceutical manufacturers own the patents on these drugs and this gives them all of the marketing budget and muscle they need to promote the drug and control the pricing. The incentives for larger pharmaceutical companies are very enticing and as a result, they don t mind spending the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If multiple drugs are created for the treatment of similar symptoms or illnesses, they can each receive a patent providing they are not identical in formulation and don t have the same key active ingredient in them. A patent can only last for 20 years and as a result, new drug companies could potentially take over the drug formulation. Given the fact that drug pharmaceuticals are always advancing, their will most likely always be new drugs that are even better (Lehman 4). The main purpose of creating the drug patent is to achieve market exclusivity for the product created. With only select brands of the same drug available it is much easier to market and sell the product. Companies are able to determine their price which allows them to achieve maximum profit. The importance of making a large profit in the pharmaceutical industry is that drug testing and clinical trials are extremely expensive. In many cases the profit gained by selling expensive products will be allocated for future endeavors such as the creation of a future drug, or of the improvement of the drug already on the market. New research is done every day to find the new miracle drug that will fix whatever illness is at hand (FDA). If the selling price exceeds the production cost, the pharmaceutical companies will continue to receive a large profit. Often the company will choose to continue their research, making advancements to the existing drug, that way it can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This declaration makes certain assumptions about crime and criminals. These assumptions include the notion that not all crimes are equal in severity. Severity of crimes differs from case to case. Manslaughter can range from a driver unintentionally killing a pedestrian to a disgruntled ex employee shooting his ex boss. One of these manslaughter cases proves intentional, while the other case proves accidental. Both cases fit the description of manslaughter, but both men are not necessarily menaces to society. • 6. The Positive And Negative Effects Of Altruism Suppose a reader is reading a mystery novel and he is close to completing the book; however, it is very late at night and he has to wake up early the next morning. He has two options: he can finish the book, fulfill his desire to know who killed the victim, and not get the proper amount of sleep he needs, or he can go to sleep, receive plenty of rest, feel refreshed the next morning, and wait until that evening to finish the novel. He would be altruistic to his body and his health if he went to bed early; however, he would be selfish to his body if he stayed up and finished the novel (Le Morvan). Altruism, which has both positive and negative effects, is a controversial character trait; however, it ultimately promotes compassion for the human race and help for the ecosystem. In a world where altruism exists, selfishness exists as well (Le Morvan). Selfishness is when a person puts his or her interests before other people s interests, and altruism is when a person puts other people s interests before his or her own interests (Le Morvan). Martin Luther King believed with all of his heart and soul that every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness (Soosai Nathan). People have a choice to help others or to help themselves, and their decisions can either be helpful or destructive, altruistic or selfish. Dr. Brian Farrell s lecture titled Wrongful Convictions, an article about false confessions by Douglas Starr titled The Interview, and even the events surrounding Prohibition are just some examples of a government that may provide order, but is far from perfect. ( Police Brutality and Race. )The quote from the article police brutality and race shows a situation that happened in 1991 that is similar to the incident in the book. A lot of times when incidents like police brutality the police officers often win because they are doing their jobs when in reality they are often accusing many citizens. Often cases of police brutality the civilian that is abused is male and black. This is because they are stereotyping thinking they are up to no good when they can be innocent by standers. Asexual reproduction results in offspring with identical genetic information, and sexual reproduction results in offspring with genetic variation. Asexual reproduction is a type of reproduction that creates uniform offspring. Asexual reproduction occurs mainly in single celled organisms (organisms with one cell), and in a few multicellular organisms (an organism with more than one cell). Two examples of single celled organisms are bacteria and amoeba. Bacteria is a single celled organism forming one of the three domains of life. This will increase the diversity of species and the ecosystem since the offspring is diverse. For example, female lions give birth to about one to five cubs, and all the cubs are genetically different. This will increase the diversity of lions. Whereas asexual reproduction produces offspring that has the same genetics as its parent, which lowers the diversity rate of organisms. Another advantage of sexual reproduction is better agriculture. This is because selective breeding can apply to sexually produced organisms. Selective breeding when parent organisms are chosen to mate, which produces more desirable and better plants and animals. An example of selective breeding is corn. Analysis Of Peter Singer s Famine, Affluence And Morality In Peter Singer 1972 article Famine, Affluence, and Morality, He offers a situational thought experiment in which he makes you question your moral values. You pass by this pond and noticed that there is a small child drowning and realize there isn t much time to call anyone for help. You could stride into the water and pull her to safety, but If you take the time to remove your shoes and it ll be too late. People only help went they are faced with the opportunity and then based their decision to help with their own moral values. Singer created a great thought experiment in a way that tests one s moral value, but one flaw would be that there wasn t anyone else around in the situation. You are the only one around in the setting therefore you must help the child. So, the question is, what if there were many people standing around in the same location? Would we all have to the responsibility to have to save the child or will we not stand and watch. According to Singer, if you can help others avoid harm, then you are morally obligated to help them. However, I don t believe this is always the case. Acute renal failure is a sudden decrease of kidney function often characterized by the loss of homeostatic equilibrium of the internal medium causing waste accumulation in the blood. Aside from accumulation of waste products like nitrogen and urea, it is also characterized by a sudden decrease of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) which disables the kidney from filtering waste products that is harmful to the body. Evidently, acute renal failure disables the kidney from maintaining fluid and electrolyte balance. The information obtained will serve as a stepping stone for treating the different stages of acute renal failure. According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, in pre renal acute renal failure the parenchyma is undamaged, and the kidneys respond as if volume depletion has occurred . The exams for diagnosing the pre renal acute renal failure mainly focuses on urine and blood studies because of diminish renal blood flow. While pre renal focuses more on the urine and blood studies, the damage for intrarenal acute renal failure (ARF) is evident in the parenchyma. This city was made up of many different people with very different ideas concerning God, cults, and moral depravity. While in Corinth, Paul was approached by a woman named Chloe who described to him the misdeeds of dissention, immorality and wrong doing in the city. Through this lesson Paul was also trying to teach that love was more important than freedom (8:1 6) and that knowledge can make us arrogant, but love edifies (Krell, 1995). With these sayings Paul was giving permission for people to put their pride aside, remember that there is no such thing as idols and that there is only one true and loving God (Krell, 1995). 9. The Problem of the Role Men and Women Should Have in Christ s Church ~ (1 Cor. 11:1 17) When Paul first addressed the Corinthians he told them to imitate him and to hold firmly to traditions (v.2). One of the traditions in Corinth was for women to have their head covered. This was a cultural custom that Paul initially commends as a symbolic gesture (Kinchen, 2012). • 19. Compare And Contrast Avengers Vs Dc. Over the years in the world of comics there has been a major rivalry between Marvel Studios and DC. Both studios have put out amazing content and are the top in Superhero creation. However, there s always the question of which one is better. There are two teams, Marvel s Avengers and DC s Justice League. Each team has multiple members, and it s always been a debate on which team would come out victorious. In a battle between the Avengers and the Justice League who would win based on the heroes individual skills? In order to find out how a battle between the two groups would happen we split the two teams into six different pairs. Each hero was pit against someone who would have a similar skill set or power level as them. After the sets were created, we then began to find out each character s individual skills. Assessing the strengths and weaknesses of each hero against the other created a modest guess on who would win the battle. This is based solely on the skills of each character and does not factor in battle areas or if the teams were to fight against each other together. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This question has stirred up a recent debate among environmental scientists and geologists regarding what our current time period should be called. The International Union of Geological Sciences claims that we are currently living in the Holocene epoch, which initiated following the Earth s last ice age. According to some scientists, that statement is obsolete. These other experts claim that Earth is a human dominated planet and that our actions rival global geophysical processes. The term Anthropocene became environmental jargon when Nobel laureate and chemist, Paul Crutzen, made the term prominent in the early 2000s. He debates that the matter of mankind s growing influence on the planet means that scientists and engineers face a daunting task of guiding society (Crutzen 2002). It s possible to set the starting point of the Anthropocene during the current Holocene epoch. The concept is based off on the agricultural revolution. The use of agriculture as a means of attaining food for the first civilized societies initiated a constant rise in carbon dioxide that has since then changed Earth s natural climatic cycles. This potential base is controversial, though. The spread of agriculture varied across locations and occurred at different times and an interval of time should be recognizable on a global scale. Numerous stratigraphers criticize the Anthropocene theory. They state that well defined evidence to determine that we have entered a new epoch clearly isn t present yet. When you start naming geologic time terms, you need to define what exactly the boundary is, where it appears in the rock strata, says Whitney Autin, a stratigrapher (Colleen 2014). At this point, the critical question is indicating when did we start to leave our signature on this planet. For example, the atomic era, has left traces of radiation in several locations across the world, and that agriculture s signature in Europe can be detected in the soils, as ... My group and I decided that we were going to observe how the size of the worms would affect how they reacted towards natural objects such as: sticks, rocks, leaves, mulch, and a pinecone vs an artificial object such as a straw. While doing this experiment, we observed the independent variable, dependent variable, the constants, and the controls of this experiment. The next step was to get the worms. We ended up getting five worms but due to the death of one, we only tested on four of the worms. A major road and tunnelling project in West Auckland, has required considerable planning and communication with publics. The Waterview Connection Development (WCD) is a motorway link between State Highways 16 and 20, which, in part, runs through tunnels. The WCD aims to provide a direct link between the central business district and the airport, and an alternative to State Highway 1. This essay critically assesses how the New Zealand Transport Authority (NZTA) has communicated with publics during the WCD. It analyses the communication activity, and applies public relations theory. Key Publics Major publics with an interest in the project include residents with properties affected by the noise and possible shifts of land, road users who may experience delays during construction, and businesses that may lose of revenue if customers find it difficult to access their premises. Mehta and Xavier (2009) note engagement relationship strategies used with various publics may be different to each other and vary over time as different parts of the project are completed. Project managers need to negotiate with residents, road users and business owners to minimise disruptions. Consumer behaviour is a process in where individuals or groups select, buy, use and dispose of the products and services to satisfy their needs and desires. Lady Macbeth Analysis Some actresses see Lady Macbeth as sympathetic to her husband like Sarah Siddons and Kate Fleetwood, feeling sympathy for Macbeth is a decision both actresses made for Lady Macbeth to be relatable and more human, Siddons who portrayed her in the mid 1800s said that she approached her as, keen to present the character in as attractive a light as possible, so sexually appealing fair feminine, nay perhaps even fragile (Sarah Siddons qtd. In Robert Miola, 94). Siddons saw the character of Macbeth as honorable and to have him as a husband only proves Lady Macbeth is very taken with him, having put all of her efforts into seducing such an honorable man. Kate Fleetwood s own interpretation of Lady Macbeth was very domestic, the societal hostess. In an interview in 2011, Fleetwood who was directed by her husband Rupert Goold in the 2007 version of the play said that, When Rupert suggested to me about the domestic side of her, that started to ring really big bells for me (Fleetwood qtd. In Miola, 135). The argument about how Lady Macbeth truly loves her husband and tried to summons the spirits is because she knows that Macbeth is very ambitious, and she needs all the strength she can have to convince him to act out the three witches prophecy. This arguement and its solution is very valid, Lady Macbeth only acting out for the benefit of her husband, she wants her husband to be the king of Scotland but it does not mean she wants to queen herself. The 2004 05 lockouts of the NHL (lasting 310 days, this was originally the 88th season of the NHL) changed some rules of the league with the offense. It started with the minor offense: offside . The offside pass or two line pass rule was removed; requiring a stoppage in play if a pass originating from the defensive team was completed on the offensive side of the center line. Reinstating the tag up offside, this advantage allows an attacking player to get back onside by returning to the neutral zone. Changes to the offside rule were intended to increase overall scoring. Another minor offense is the icing call. A linesman gets stopped in play if a defending player (other than the goalie himself) touches the puck before an attacking player does. As a result, when a team is called on the offense of icing, they are not allowed to make a line change before the following faceoff. • 32. Theme Of Death In The Aeneid Throughout the Aeneid by Virgil, death is a reoccurring theme and each death has its own significance to the poem. The death of Creusa in book two shows that Aeneas will need a new wife and the death of Pallas in book ten foreshadows Turnus s future. One of the most interesting deaths is that of Dido because the responsibility for Dido s death falls on multiple characters: Anna, the goddesses, Venus, Juno and Rumor, and Dido herself. Dido is one of the many characters who are responsible for her own death. Before the appearance of Aeneas in Carthage, Dido was married to another man, Sychaeus. However, Sychaeus was murdered by Dido s brother who was jealous of his power and money leaving Dido a widow (Aen, 4.23 25). As a widow, Dido made a vow Never to pledge [herself] in marriage again showing her commitment to her first and only husband who she passionately loved (Aen,4.19). The importance of this to Dido s death is that she broke her vow on account that Aeneas was the first man that she has loved since Sychaeus. However, this love is artificial because it is not her love but love created by Venus. Even though she has this passion for Aeneas flowing through her veins, she questions herself and whether it will be worthy to love this man and break the vow. Maybe the board of directors knew what they were doing, even if they paid a higher then normal buy out price to acquire the Mall Company and the assets it had in order to not have competition in one area. I would want to know what some of the specific to the contract written up in the acquisition, then if everything was legally binding in so much something that was added can be upheld by law and if not, start diving more into the legalities of the acquisition. In this case, it is getting as much information to make a more informed decision before considering of offering an unqualified opinion. 13 31) (A) Audit of fair value is often difficult beings the values are usually determined using subjective assumptions. (B) I would evaluate and test the model of management valuation, in which I would evaluate (1) valuation model used, (2) whether the substantial assumptions are consistent ... Pros And Cons Of Privatizing The United States Privatizing the United States air traffic control operations may move closer to becoming a reality in 2017 something most airline companies and other industry leaders have been pushing for a long time. Proponents of shifting away from government control introduced a bill last year that the incoming president has expressed a willingness to carefully consider. Rep. Bill Shuster (R), who helped draft the legislation, sees the long overdue shift to satellite based air traffic management as the solution to lower costs for operators, while making air traffic safer and more efficient for all stakeholders. Supporters for privatizing air traffic control claim that it is time to address long delays and inefficiencies in an aging airspace network that doesn t fully utilize modern aviation technology. UK based NATS projects delays will exponentially increase from the current 90,000 minutes a year to approximately 4 million in the next 15 years unless the United Kingdom government invests in modernization by replacing outdated airspace technology by switching to satellite based control. In the United States the federal government has a history of moving at a snail s pace when it comes to updating national infrastructure. For example, New York City just completed a subway upgrade that was originally approved in 1929. A revamping of the system similar to the innovative changes that transformed call center voice recording equipment from simple recording devices to systems that capture conversations and enable digital archiving and instant sharing via cloud based technology, will help modernize our airspace management strategies. However, Matsukaze s story is not based on any single work of literature, although there are many allusions to the chapter of Tale of Genji when he is exiled to Suma. The location is crucial, because it was in his exile at Suma that Genji took up with the Akashi Lady, and left her his hunting cloak, just as Yukihira did for the sisters. Besides Tale of Genji, Yukihira, the lover who left the two sisters behind in the No play, was a popular heroic character for storytelling, as he was the renowned poet Narihira s older brother and a poet himself. He was a character in the play Shiokumi, which has not survived into the modern era, but what is known of this play is that it did have a great influence on Zeami s Matsukaze. Yukihira appeared in this play, and it is about the lives of saltmakers, which the sisters are supposed to be. • 48. My Love Of Travel For any person that went on vacations as a little kid, there will always be one that sticks out in their mind. For me that vacation was a 2008 Disney cruise in the Bahamas. As a second grader getting to miss school was a big deal. This vacation just happened to be during the last week of school that year. I was incredibly excited to not only miss school but also get to go see a new place. In my family we love to travel. I ve been in 3 countries and 14 or more states. This vacation was my start to all of these places and sparked my love to see the world. One of the reasons this vacation influenced my love of travel was that this was the first time I had been on a big plane. I love to fly places. Flying is a lot faster than driving places and with two brothers that makes a huge difference. On this vacation I visited one of the U.S. Virgin Islands, one of the British Virgin Islands, and Disney s private island, Castaway Cay. Every day of the trip we were either at port on one of these islands or spending our day on the boat on the way to one of these islands. When we were at port on any of the islands we were given a time to be back then we were set free to get off of the boat and explore the island at our own pace. We took a bus tour on one of the islands but on the others we got out and visited some of the little shops or went to the beach for a day in the sand. One of the memories that sticks out most to me was when my grandpa and I were standing in the water at Magens ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
