Gender Socialization Essays
Gender Socialization
A baby is born and the doctor looks at the proud parents and says three simple words: Its a boy, or Its a
girl! Before a newborn child even takes his or her first breath of life outside the mothers womb, he or
she is distinguished and characterized by gender. The baby is brought home and dressed in clothes that
help others identify the sex of the child.
Baby boys are dressed in blue and baby girls are dressed in pink. The baby boy may be dressed in a
blue shirt with a football or a baseball glove on it. The baby girl may wear a bow in her hair and have
flowered pajamas. As the boy begins to grow, he is given a miniature basketball and a hoop to play
with. The girl is given dolls an doll clothes to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Nancy ChodorowÕs essay
ÒFamily Structure and Feminine PersonalityÓ she examines the development of gender identity and
personality. Except for the stereotypical examples I have given above which again are e stablished by
the parents, Chodorow states that the development of a child is basically the same for boys and girls
until the age of three. During those first three years the mother is the dominant figure in the childÕs
life. The father plays a limited role until the child reaches the so called ÒOedipalÓ period (beyond age
3). It is at this stage that children begin to try to separate themselves from the clutches of their mother
and establish their own identity. Chodorow examines how different this is for boys and girls. KFRC
radio disk jockey Ron Parker recently reported that out of a survey of one hundred fourth grade boys
and one hundred fourth grade girls, the boys receive an average weekly allowance that is
approximately 50% higher than the girls receive. On the average, the boys receive $4.18 as compared
to the $2.67 paid to the girls. To look even further, the survey reported that the boys only perform
three household chores to earn their weekly allowance whereas the girls are performing twel ve or
more. Why are the girls expected to do four times as much work around the house than the boys are?

My Passion For Music And The Music Industry
I have always had a passion for music and the music industry, and my parents and I both knew that I
was not going for school, unless it was for something music related. The music industry is such a
broad category and there are so many moving parts within this sector. I chose music promotion for my
career project, because it would allow me to go in and out of different departments within the music
industry, along being able to work alongside creative individuals for artists. Pursuing a career in music
promotion would allow me to have my cake and eat it too, so to speak.
Music has not only been my passion, but by main focus for at least the past ten years. I was always
attracted to sound and music from as young as I could remember. I ... Show more content on

You do not need a specific degree or even a higher level of education in order to be successful in this
industry. This industry, and a career in music promotion is all about networking, ambition, a tenacious
attitude and a passion for your work. Unlike many other professions, the daily workload is not a fixed
amount or even a fixed measure of time. There may be day where you are working from sun up to sun
down, meeting other record executives or members, making phone calls left and right, or on the road
traveling to your next event. But then, there might be some moments when your job is to solely make
sure the artists you are managing are getting to their venues on time and meeting all the appropriate
industry people. Although all of this can seem quiet fast pace and a bit chaotic, one of the many
benefits of this career is the expectation that the artists you are promoting have of you. What do I
mean by that? The artists actually expect you to hang out with them for the night after a big show, or
even right before shows. These artists are always down to party, and they need a crew to have fun
with, and as a music promoter, you are a part of this crew! There are not many other industries with
this same expectation.
Like I mentioned earlier, a career in music promotion does not require a specific degree or level of
certification, but that does

Quality Assessment And Quality Assurance
Quality assessment and quality assurance in healthcare: importance, challenges, and facilitators Robert
Vining Jefferson College of Health Sciences Course: Foundations of Healthcare Administration
Instructor: Sharon L Hatfield PhD Correspondence Information: rdvining@jchs.edu Date: Abstract
Quality assessment and quality improvement in healthcare are methods for assessing the performance
of healthcare delivery in terms of quality. Quality is a term broadly describing efficient access to care
and effective services, which meet health needs of individuals and populations. Quality assessments
are commonly carried out by health service organizations to comply with regulatory agencies and as
part of a continual improvement process. Data obtained from quality assessments helps determine the
need to of implement changes to enhance components of care requiring improvement. Changes
implemented may include provider behaviors, organizational policies, procedures, and infrastructure
modification. Examples of both successful quality improvement programs and barriers limiting their
success can be used to inform health service organizations. Quality assessment and quality assurance
in healthcare: importance, challenges, and facilitators Quality assessment in healthcare is a process
whereby a predetermined measure of quality, such as access to care or treatment guideline adherence,
is quantified or measured. Quality assessment is one part of a quality improvement (or quality

Go Set A Watchman By Harper Lee
Synopsis Harper Lee s novel, Go Set a Watchman, tells the story of the 26 year old Jean Louise as she
gains awareness of her father s flaws and becomes a more independent and flexible person. During the
novel s exposition, Jean Louise is on a train returning to her hometown, Maycomb, to visit her aging
father, Atticus. Upon returning home, Jean Louise quickly gets into an argument with her aunt,
Alexandra, over trivial matters. The two continue to bicker at each other until Atticus intervenes.
While Jean Louise finds it extremely frustrating that her aunt is never able to understand her point of
view, she finds comfort believing that Maycomb has remained the same since she last left. The
narrative hook occurs when Jean Louise is informed of the changes that have taken place in
Maycomb. A notable example is when Henry Clinton, Jean s old friend, informs her that her family
sold Finch s Landing to a club. Jean is surprised at this and expresses her displeasure at her world
changing by stating; I just don t like my world disturbed without some warning... (Lee 75). Many of
the changes don t hinder Jean, but she is still bothered by the fact that her world is changing without
her knowledge. During the rising action, Jean Louise discovers a racist pamphlet owned by her father.
She confronts Alexandra about it, and her aunt informs her that Atticus had brought it home from the
citizen s council meeting. Mortified, Jean Louise goes to the meeting to find Atticus and Henry

Registration Of An Invention For A Statutory Monopoly
The patent system protects the functionality of an invention for a limited term. Registration of an
invention is necessary in order for any patent rights to exist in respect of it. An application is necessary
for registration. The Patents Act sets out the procedures and requirements involved in such an
application.
A patent is a right that is granted for any device, substance, method or process that is new, inventive
and useful. A patent is a legally enforceable right to commercially exploit the invention for the life of
the patent.
To be patentable, an invention must be at least novel (new) and inventive (not just a routine
manipulation of an existing product or process). In order to preserve the novelty of your patent it is ...

The application is assessed by an examiner at the patent office of the country in which protection is
sought, and a decision is made whether or not the application will be accepted. Various amendments
can be made to the application in an effort to overcome any valid objections taken by the examiner.
Application Process
A patent application is lodged (provisional then complete), then examined (s 45).
The Commissioner will look at:
a. s 40 internal requirements (s 45(1)(a));
b. Manner of manufacture (s 45(1)(b));
c. Novelty and inventive step (s 45(1)(c));
d. Other matters prescribed in regulations (s 45(1)(d)) including entitlement to ownership (Reg 3.18(2)
(a)(i)) and s 18(2) patentability (Reg 3.18(2)(d));
e. Utility (s.18(1)(c) and s.18(1A)(c ); and
f. No secret use
Innovation patents do not undergo substantive examination before grant, only a formalities check (s
52).
A provisional application is usually filed first. It only needs to describe the invention (s 40(1)). The
applicant has 12 months to file one or more complete applications associated with the provisional
application (s 38(1) and Reg. 3.10).
The priority date of a claim is the date of filing the specification that first discloses the invention (s
43(2)). This will be the date of filing the provisional application.

Boston Food Truck Essay
DISCUSSION
Regulation and Permits
To operate food trucks in the City of Boston, vendors need to apply and pay for a Mobile Food Truck
Permit. The permit is issued by the Department of Public Works and it is valid for one year. The cost
for the permit is $500.
Health Regulation
Boston city government recommends food truck vendors to bring their operation plans to a Health
Inspector BEFORE they start to build their food trucks.
Food truck vendors should bring the following documents for the health inspector to review:
1. Equipment Specification and Plans.
2. A completed Health Permit Application Form (it must contain information about the cooking
process).
3. Menu sample.
Upon successful inspection of the documents, food truck vendors must pay a cost of $100 for one year
health permit. After food truck vendors have built their truck, they are needed to be inspected once
more. Food trucks must be inspected at 1010 Massachusetts Avenue, from Monday to Friday at 8:00

It is important to recognize that there are no one size fits all prescription for how best to incorporate
food trucks into the fabric of a community. Many characteristics contribute to the complexity and
vibrancy of a city, including political climate, state laws, demographics, and the existing restaurant
industry. With this in mind, the recommendations included here are intended to be flexible enough to
accommodate different circumstances, but logical enough to provide useful guidance. They can serve
as a road map that will help cities establish a regulatory framework best suited to their unique
circumstances and that takes into account the whole spectrum of stakeholder needs and concerns. Over
and above, the truck food business is the way to go, if you don t want to bother yourself with the cost
of securing a location to build a restaurant, as well as if you want to make fast money from the

In modern literary interpretation, the correspondence of the authors intention with the meaning of the
work, is considered paramount to discerning the true literary meaning of a work . E.D. Hirsch a
renowned literary critic argues that to correctly interpret a text, the interpret must consider the author
and the text s inner and out horizon . To discover the inner horizon, the interpreter must look at the
culture and background of the work and author so they can understand the logic, belief systems, and
historical context that bound the work. The addition of the outer horizon allows the reader to consider
the author s intention in writing the piece. Hirsh establishes that a literary interpretation can be
considered the most probable, if the reader considers the plausibility of the interpretation based on the
context established from the text s horizon, coherence .
Schroeder extensively describes the horizon of the text as well as the horizon of the author and his
intention and evaluates her own claim with data and support.
First, she describes the inner horizon of the text with a description of Nahua culture and background.
She states the codex adheres to annals genre , a traditional form of Nahua record keeping that is based

Marble, or calcium carbonate, is a fairly insoluble compound with the chemical formula CaCO3. This
compound has a carbonate ion, which has a charge of 2 and a calcium ion, which has a charge of +2.
Calcium carbonate has a few forms including chalk and limestone. The main use of these two
materials is in the making of concrete, which is used for many things including buildings. The rate of
the reaction is the speed that the reaction takes place; therefore, by measuring the rate, the amount of
time the reaction takes will be measured. Hydrochloric acid is a stronger acid that is found in digestive
juices in the human stomach and is also used for cleaning metals before they are coated. When you
mix a strong acid like HCl with any carbonate you will have a chemical reaction in which CO2 gas is
released. This means that it will fizz indicating a chemical reaction. These two elements can react with
hydrochloric acid to yield carbon dioxide, calcium chloride and water. The chemical reaction equation
for hydrochloric acid and calcium carbonate is:
2HCl + CaCO3 → CaCl2 + H2O + CO2

Jane Austin Research Paper
My favorite influential female figure is Jane Austen. Jane Austin is one my favorite authors that writes
best romantic fiction combined with social realism. Most of the characters in Jane Austin s books, the
female character are strong and smart and have a mind of their own. Jane Austin books were written
1811 to 1818, where women had no voice in society and only were accepted only to get married. Jane
Austin books focus on the issue of marriage issues and how at this time women were married to the
person that has more money and not for love. Her books show how the main female characters don t
look at marriage this way (money) but focus on finding a person who understands and respects her.
Jane Austin taught many girls and women how to dream, strive for what they want and not because a
woman was born into a poor family she cannot dream.

Research of Electric Car Batteries Satisfaction Rate
The 21st Century Electric Car
By Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning Tesla Motors
The electric car, once the zero emissions darling of environmentalists, is sometimes maligned as an
emissions elsewhere vehicle, since the electricity to charge its batteries must be generated in electrical
generation plants that produce emissions. This is a reasonable point, but we must then ask how much
pollution an electric car produces per mile accounting for all emissions, starting from the gas or oil
well where the source fuel is extracted, all the way to the final consumption of electricity by the car s
motor. When we work through the numbers, we find that the electric car is significantly more efficient
and pollutes less than all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The famous Toyota Prius is EPA rated to get 55 mpg in combined city highway driving, for an energy
efficiency of 0.56 km/MJ.7
Electric Cars
Even with tires and gearing optimized for performance (rather that absolute efficiency), the Tesla
Roadster only consumes about 110 watt hours (0.40 mega joules) of electricity from the battery to
drive a kilometer, or 2.53 km/MJ. 8
The energy cycle (charging and then discharging) of the lithium ion batteries in the Tesla Roadster is
about 86% efficient. This means that for every 100 mega joules of electricity used to charge such a
battery, only 86 mega joules of electricity are available from the battery to power the car s motor.
Thus, the electrical outlet to wheel energy efficiency of the Tesla Roadster is 2.53 km/MJ x 86% =
2.18 km/MJ.
The most efficient way to produce electricity is with a combined cycle natural gas fired electric
generator. (A combined cycle generator combusts the gas in a high efficiency gas turbine, and uses the
waste heat of this turbine to make steam, which turns a second turbine both turbines turning electric
generators.) The best of these generators today is the General Electric H System generator, which is
60% efficient,9 which means that 40% of the energy content of the natural gas is wasted in

Restorative Justice And The Justice Centres
Restorative Justice(RJ) is a process in by which it takes an alternative form from the traditional CJS
and aims to prompt resolution with offender, victims and the wider community in a safe setting. RJ
looks at crime in terms of violation against the community and individual rather than a violation
against the law (Gabbay, 2005). As with the traditional CJS, the voices of the victims and offenders
are very minimal and not adequately addressed to a large extent; restorative justice centres its main
attention on these parties. Since the adoption of RJ practices, there have been different types of RJ
created by various different countries that have also resorted to this practice, such as Family Group
Conferencing (NZ and Australia) and Sentencing Circles (Canada) and victim offender mediation.
Since, one of the main stakeholders of these conferences are victims, it is vital that their needs and
wants are being heard and met and victim satisfaction is also one of the key restorative values in these
conferences, thus it is important know whether their needs are being adequately met. This essay will
critically discuss the principle of restorative justice, how restorative justice effectively addresses the
concerns of victims using examples illustrated from Canada and New Zealand and the limitations of
RJ in certain crime cases in addressing victim concerns. . The concerns will be based on the different
proponents of RJ and the overall satisfaction that arises for victims out

The American Dream And The American Dream
The answer to the question of whether or not the American Dream of owning a home is alive and well
among Millenials is a resounding Yes! According to the National Association of Realtors, one
consistent finding is that for the last four years homebuyers 36 years and younger is the largest share
of homebuyers at 34 percent! Although Millenials have experienced the Great Recession, it evidently
has not dampened their enthusiasm for home buying. It s possible that the older Millenials may have
at first been reluctant and that they have delayed home buying until a little later in life, but they are
certainly on board now! I am a senior in college, and I was born in 1995 so I m considered a Millenial.
For me personally, home ownership is a worthwhile goal. I don t intend to buy a home until I have
graduated from college, have decided where I want to live, and I have my dream job. I think
Millenials are cautious about financial matters, but I also think that can be a great advantage.
Generally we don t rush into decisions without a great deal of thought and analysis. That means that
when we do buy a home, we are financially and emotionally prepared and less likely to lose that home
due to foreclosure It s easy to understand why home ownership is considered a major component of
the American Dream. As a college senior looking toward graduation, I understand that owning a home
can mean independence from my landlord, a statement that I have arrived or succeeded,

Westernization Of African Americans In The Colonial And...
An analysis of gender, class and westernization all combine together into multi layered complications
that Africans faced in the colonial and postcolonial period. These challenges come from examples
such as the slave trade and the break from colonial power to the political complications that limit the
development in the rest of the country. Westernization dismantled a lot of social and political authority
within Africa and created a new standard of class that favors those who are affiliated with European
heritage and its is still being embedded today. Gender plays into this role as well as it can be used as a
way to deprive one s dignity and status or can be a way to show one s wealth. Westernization started

Comparing Goffman s Virtual And Intellectual Social Identity
According to Goffman, stigma refers to any undesirable or discrediting characteristics, constituted by
the variance between one s virtual and actual social identity. Goffman classifies stigma into three
distinct categories. One type of stigma he outlines is referred to as abominations of the body, which
constitutes various physical deformities. Another type is tribal stigma, which are those stigma that can
be inherited through lineages and equally contaminate members of that lineage. The third type of
stigma that Goffman proposes is blemishes of individual character, which refers to those stigma that
are more difficult to detect from merely looking at an individual, ranging from addiction struggles to
mental illness. A blemish of character

Essay about Physics Cantilever Lab
Independent Assessment Physics Lab (SL): Cantilever Flexion

October 21st, 2012
Introduction
Purpose: The purpose of this Physics Lab is to investigate what factors determine the amount of
flexion of the cantilever. Hence, the objective is to establish a relationship between the length of a
cantilever, which may give some insight into the physics of cantilevers.
Hypothesis: If one increases the length of a cantilever, one would expect there to be an increase in
deflection/flexion of the cantilever. Similarly, if one increases the mass of the load, one would expect
there to be an increase in the deflexion/flexion of the cantilever. In addition, I predict that
proportionality will also occur ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
* Dependent Variable: The deflection/flexion of the cantilever in metres. This will be measured
indirectly by measuring the initial height of the bottom of the cantilever with no mass added (which is
equal to the height of the table) and the new height of the bottom of the cantilever after each trial,
which will be measured with mass added. Hence, the difference between these heights is equal to the
deflection/flexion of the cantilever. The material and other physical properties of the cantilever will be
controlled by using the same yardstick as a cantilever for each trial.
Data Collection and Processing
My experiment is divided into two parts; experiment A (involving the relationship between flexion
and the mass of the load) and experiment B (involving the relationship between the flexion and the
length of the cantilever).
Below are two tables in which I have recorded the data which I obtained during the experiment. The
first table reflects the Relationship between the deflection/flexion of the cantilever and the mass of the
load and the second table reflects the relationship between the flexion of the cantilever and the length
of the cantilever.
(i) Relationship between the deflection/flexion of the cantilever and the load mass (5 trials)

Medical Errors And Its Effects On Healthcare
Making sure that patients are safe in healthcare facilities is an important topic that all the healthcare
organizations must go through. The individuals that attend healthcare facilities fully trust and put their
health in the hands of their healthcare provider. Since healthcare providers are faced with so many
responsibilities in their healthcare facility, they often find it hard not to make any errors in the services
they provide. Healthcare providers have so many tasks that sometimes they might forget something,
confuse their patients, or give the wrong medication. Since medical errors are inevitable, a plan that
will help reduce medical errors. A few of the actions that can be put into effect to reduce medical
errors can be doing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I consider it important for all medical staff to attend these information sessions because they may learn
something they did not. Information sessions can serve as refreshments of important tasks to keep in
mind. The information sessions that I am planning to incorporate will cover topics such as how to
detect a medical error, how to prevent a medical error, tips on how to improve literacy issues, how to
improve communication, what are the proper ways to hand off patients, and what to do if a medical
error occurs. Since I want everyone to be involved, I will also ask for participants to share personal
stories about mistakes they made while working in healthcare facilities. That way other people know
what to do if this occurs. For this training sessions to be effective, I would require for my hospital
organization to have these training sessions at least 3 times a week.
Also, the way I will integrate the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act is by making sure that
management creates groups and spreads information all through different healthcare facilities. I don t
only want to make a change in the organization that I work for, I want to make a change in every
hospital so that they know that it is possible to increase patient safety. Getting everyone involved is
important and can

Romeo And Juliet Act 2 Scene 2
William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet has been adapted into several films, but the film that
properly demonstrates the mood of Act 2, scene 2 is Baz Luhrmann s 1996 version. One of the
elements used by the director to convey the mood is setting. In scene 2, Romeo and Juliet are not on
balcony like in the original play, but instead in a courtyard. Later on, the couple falls into the pool
where most of the scene occurs. Although they have some intimate moments, Romeo and Juliet are
seen splashing water on each other and laughing. As a result, this evokes a playful mood because they
are having fun together. Another choice the director made is language. Despite including quotes
straight from the original text, there are many instances where the

How A Company Can Use Its Weaknesses And Opportunities
The GE case is an example of how a company can use its weaknesses and opportunities to further its
progress. The company saw the potential of the internet in changing businesses. Moreover, for a
change to be effective and be felt across the organization, it must start from the top as Jack Welch
showed by taking typing classes. Further, companies should embrace technology involve their clients
whenever planning to change. This was seen when GE decided to launch the icenter to connect with
customers on its products and services. GE s strategy, like the other companies, chose to change its
way of doing business by embracing the power of the internet and seeking to be a leader in the field
(Laudon Laudon, 2014).
Rand McNally, on the other hand, provides businesses with lessons, such as changing the corporate
culture to embrace productivity. The company had to do away with the conservative corporate culture.
The CEO of the company chose to personally interact with employees through an open door policy
and responded personally to emails. This is reminiscent of Welch s leadership at GE. Moreover,
businesses should incur worthwhile risks to generate more income in addition to addressing the needs
of their target audience. Businesses can learn from the Randy McNally case that proper planning is
essential to a business, which is opposite to what boo.com did hence their failure. Like, GE, Income,
Mashaweer, and B N, Rand McNally chose to address the needs of its clients.

Difference Between Jacobean And Elizabethan Play
In general, Elizabethan as well as Jacobean plays, not only those of Shakespeare, were more or less
influenced by the tradition from which they had arisen, by the sources of information on which they
were based, and also by the current political situation in which they were written. While scholars have
disagreed about the direct influence of Seneca on Elizabethan drama. The Elizabethan era was a time
of relative hope and confidence. In the early seventeenth century, however, the national mood seems
to have become tense and anxious, partially because James was not as skillful a ruler as Elizabeth.
This period, called Jacobean from the Latin form of James s name, also is known as the early Stuart
era after James s family name. William Shakespeare ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every fresh addition to the knowledge of the history and thought of ancient Greece and Rome was
eagerly welcomed. Sir Thomas North s translation of Plutarch s Lives, which was first published in
1579, provided the framework, and sometimes, even the wording, of the Roman plays of Shakespeare,
Beaumont and Fletcher, Ben Jonson and Massinger. These plays and their leading figures undoubtedly
made a special appeal to the Elizabethan playgoer, who perhaps drew a parallel between the history of
those days and the stirring times in which he himself was living. We may, indeed, note here that it was
easy for the English to identify themselves with the Romans, whose occupation of Britain had left so
firm an impression on their life, laws, and language, and whose feeling for order, justice, and personal
integrity in administration they had inherited. In later times, when the English, like Romans, became
great Empire builders, their writers and orators often expressed their pride in this similarity of ideals
and achievements.Shakespeare himself must have been keenly conscious of this affinity between his
countrymen and their ancient

Mobile Phones And The Cell Phone Industry
Introduction The cell phone industry, like the internet, is one of the fastest and ever developing
industries. Since 1994, the production of cell phones has increased from 24 million to 182 million in
wireless phone apparatuses. With 162 million established cell phone users in the United States the cell
phone market is rapidly increasing . This rapid increase is due to the current and ongoing development
of technology and innovation in perfecting the cell phone. Throughout the history of the cell phone
industries collaborations have arose in order to stay lucrative in the fast changing field. Worldwide
wireless companies have been compelled to collaborate. This collaboration is due to a wide array of
reasons that all relate to the firm s attempts to stay lucrative. Wireless companies have the tendency to
acquire market share via both products and accessories. When these companies merge they can then
share their markets and products and offer a superior service. Without working together smaller
wireless companies at times fall victim to what is known as predation. Therefore, collaboration is
necessary within the cell phone industry to maintain profits and increase assets. One of the ways that
cell phone companies maintain profits and increase assets is through the addition of new and emerging
technologies to cell phones. Considering that computers and the Internet are highly sought after, the
wireless companies incorporate access to fast speed Internet through their

descriptive statistics for the sample data obtained. The results as described by the author did have
several possible unidentifiable errors particularly in the control group. The results were discussed with
relation to their objectives and the literature review however the analysis was highly focused on the
success of the study and only slightly addressed the limitations of such a small control group in

The current system of the LCBO, the Beer Store and the off site winery stores perform nearly identical
functions in providing alcoholic beverages and products to consumers. In fact, their retail stores are
sometimes located across the street from one another. But limited competition and separate business
objectives prevent these companies from capitalizing on each other s profits and market shares.
The LCBO and the Beer Store also act as wholesalers to each other and to agency stores, licensed
establishments and duty free stores, depending on the type of product(Exhibit 3 and 4). Unlike the
wholesale of domestic wines, spirits and foreign imports, the domestic beer manufactures deliver their

Reflective Essay On A Council Meeting
On Monday, November 20th 2017, I attended the City of Atlanta s council meeting while visiting my
friend for the holidays. I have had no experience with any kind of government event outside of student
government, so I personally had no idea what to expect. Driving around in Atlanta was confusing
enough, but we were kindly shown where to go to sit in on the meeting.
The meeting took a while to begin, but it began with role being taken of the council members. The
room itself was large, with a wall of desks in front of the main seating area. After role had been called
the meeting was opened by discussing the recent celebration of Veteran s Day, and the council felt the
need to thank all the active veterans in the community. This was very important to the council and
they said a few words about veterans who had passed that had very positive roles in the community.
The Council then brought up the murder of a 29 year old women over the previous weekend. Prayers
were extended to her family and loved ones out of respect. It was stated that the city is doing
everything that they possibly can to bring justice to the family and apprehend the killer. The third
person to be recognized was a major supporter of the Atlanta community, who was a dear friend to
many of the council members. We then observed a moment of silence for all those previously
mentioned.
At this point in the meeting nothing was very surprising to me, it was just like any other meeting I
have attended. I was used to

Rites Of Passage Of The Native Societies
Cultures from countries of all around the world understood the importance of the transitional mark of
adolescence to manhood. Rites of passage in some cultures are significant in which males are
recognized as men after undergoing certain procedures and are conveyed differently; thus it helps
them identify who they are in their family and their positions in their societies, as well as what the
corresponding responsibilities are.
Throughout the human history, there have been a diversity of male initiation rituals from different
places in the world that although most of them which come from undeveloped societies appear to be
offensive and barbaric through the lens of Western culture, they should be respected and therefore
harnessed to maintain the world of cultural abundance.
Some torturous male rites of passage of the Native societies emphasize the capability of survival and
the significant natural power of a man when dealing with the surroundings in a world of non
technology. The environment they live in is nature: trees, soil, grass, wild flowers and wild animals. In
order to survive for generations in such condition, male adolescents future husbands and potential
leaders of the community are forced to overcome the toughest experience that the initiation rituals
cause to them.

Emotional Intelligence And Outline The Principles Of Self...
Draft 2/07/2016 develop and use ei
Assessment 1
Question 1. Explain emotional intelligence and outline the principles of self regulation and self
awareness.
Emotional intelligence is the ability an individual has to one identify their own emotions as well as
others, two understand and manage these emotions successfully in self and others, with being able to
effectively manage yourself as well as your relationships.
Self awareness can be considered essentially the bread and butter of all other competencies, it means
having the ability to recognise and understand your own emotions while being aware of how these can
affect work and life. It is highly accepted that people whom are self aware of their emotions are better
able to guide their open lives , as opposed to those who do not this is just another clear example of the
importance of understanding and initiating emotional intelligence through work or daily life.
As leaders whom practice self awareness, are able to not only have confidence in their ability, to lead
when facing difficult decisions or moments of dire stress in the workplace. Accepting and knowing
these feelings can ultimately provide the user with useful information about difficult decisions when
answers are not available through external sources.
Leaders must rely on their own feelings to achieve results, being self aware also provides the user with

Handsome Jack From The Borderlands Franchise
There are many kinds of villains in stories with many different motivations. Handsome Jack from the
Borderlands franchise is one example of a villain done right. Not only does he contrast well against
the heros in the story, but he appeals well to the audience. The audience also sees how changes from
being considered a hero by many to being undoubtedly a villain.
When we initially meet Handsome Jack he is the CEO of the Hyperion corporation and claims to be

The Role Of Jealousy In Othello
The Role of Jealousy in Othello.
The drama Othello , is well known, for the way Shakespeare was able to make the audience focus on
the destructive and corrupting power of jealousy.
The theme jealousy in the drama Othello causes the major problems for the characters in the story.
Jealousy in the story can be seen in two different views, which are:
a) The destructive power of sexual jealousy.
b) The jealousy of power and position.
Sexual jealousy was exhibited as one of the destructive factors of jealousy that leads to tragic
occasions for characters in the play. Othello was made to be sexually jealous by Iago about the way
Desdemona was cheating on him with Cassio. For instance, when Iago told Othello Well, there you

In the first seen, Iago shows of his jealously was right at the beginning of the play, he said Mere
prattle without practice is all his soldier ship. But he sir, had th election (Shakespeare.1.1.26 27). This
helps to show Iago s jealousy towards Cassio as he wanted to be the Lutenant to Othello, for all his
service he has done for Othello.
Also, Iago was jealous of Othello s relationship with Desdemona. For instance when Iago says It
cannot be that Desdemona should long continue her love to the Moor/She must change for youth
(Shakespeare 1.3.378 382). This quote furthers shows how Iago was jealous for Othello and
Desdemona s love. Desdemona is the daughter of a well respected Senate, and she is much known for
her beauty, and it seems like all the men in Venice in one way wanted to her as their wife, and Othello,
who is a moor cannot just marry Desdemona.
Furthermore, Iago was jealous of Othello from the fact that he hated him, even if he was given the
position or not. For instance where Iago said Though I do hate him as I do hell pains, yet, for necessity
of present life, I must show out a flag and sign of love which is indeed but sign (Shakespeare (1.1.171
174). This quote helps to show how Iago will always hate Othello no matter what happens, he will

appraisal issue is to make a similarity with the traditional correspondence issue. We will make broad
utilization of Fig. 1, which delineates various vital ideas, starting with the lower some portion of the
figure, which portrays the components and stream of a transmitter channel beneficiary correspondence
framework. As the inscription clarifies, in this similarity, the transmitter is the universe of noticeable
brilliant vitality and of article surfaces that communicate in a physically and measurably legal way,

A convenient and intuitive approach to conceptualizing the multifaceted visual quality assessment
problem is to make an analogy with the classical communication problem. We will make extensive use
of Fig. 1, which depicts a number of important concepts, beginning with the lower part of the figure,
which depicts the elements and flow of a transmitter channel receiver communication system. As the
caption explains, in this analogy, the transmitter is the world of visible radiant energy and of object
surfaces that interact in a physically and statistically lawful manner, projecting through lenses to
images that are incident on a sensor. Because of the coherent nature of matter and the physical
properties of light, natural images that are formed by an optical process obey laws that can be
statistically expressed. Section III elaborates on this, but for now the term natural image or natural
video may be construed to mean an optical signal sensed from visible light that has been captured by
an ordinary good quality camera equipped with a low distortion lens under reasonably good
conditions. This means that the image is not distorted by noticeable aliasing from poor resolution, over
or under exposure from poor lighting, or other impairments arising from poor technique. Further,
naturalness implies that the signal was not synthetically created by computer graphics techniques, nor
had its

Self Denial And Self-Denialing In Miss Brill By Katherine...
There are millions of people who live in self denial and self rejection. When one thinks of self denial,
most people picture a young person trying to find his or her way through society without being
ridiculed, but what does it mean when self denial lingers into adulthood? In her acclaimed short story,
Miss Brill author Katherine Mansfield does not detail her story in a descriptive, elaborate style, yet the
reader can infer that the protagonist, Miss Brill, is a woman who is self conscious and yearns to be
important to the point she denies her pain and sorrow.
Miss Brill desires to be normal since in the literary article Reductive Imagery in Miss Brill she is
depicted as an a foreigner (in xenophobic France) without friends or relatives (Mandel 474) Anyone in
that situation would try his or her best to fit in and not be mocked. The fur and pieces of clothing in
the story are a symbol of her hidden self denial and low confidence. Miss Brill goes out to present the
clothes so the public would take notice, but the public did not. People who wear nice clothing want
others to notice, and when people notice the nice clothing, a person s confidence is elevated. Mrs. Brill
is hurt that no one takes the time out to compliment or notice her. She yearns to be important to the
public and be a person of significance. Yet, notice how Miss Brill is so detached from the society she
is living in. She is more immersed in living through society instead of living her life and it produces

How My Lesson Plan Incorporates Children s Stories
Administrators and teachers need to recognize that not every student will find English interesting or
applicable. Children s books address this problem by combining relatability, students interests as well
as connections to the text, and functionality, the ability for it to be used to fulfill standards. The books
offer a unique medium where everyone has an opinion or experience that connects in a significant way
to them. The relatability comes from the stories prevalence in culture. Up to this point, however, we
have failed as an institution to implement these stories as a prominent focal point in classroom lessons.
The lesson I am proposing is an attempt to fix this oversight. This paper will explain how my lesson
plan incorporates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet, teachers are also using books students have no exposure to beforehand. Teachers must find a way
to get students to connect to the story, form complex ideas about the story s meaning, and show them
how to prove these ideas; A difficult task to complete with books that take weeks to read. There is a
need, therefore, to limit the quantity of tasks a teacher needs to complete to teach students how to
interpret the text. The lesson uses children s books to correct the problem by having relatability
established beforehand and, in many cases, getting students to interact with the material in a critical
way that is meaningful for them. Numerous studies have shown that using materials that students
relate to and care about increases retention and speeds up initial learning. Connections are rarely
formed, however, when students are forced to quickly and artificially connect with books that they
have not chosen because they are interested in it, but because someone is making them read the story.
Children s books get around this by offering an interesting multi dimensional forum where students
already have personal experiences from popular culture references to the stories and their own
concerns, ranging from gender roles to morality, developed slowly over time rather than demanded
immediately. Most importantly, because children s stories were a part of students childhood and
allowed them to naturally form new ideas and impressions about

Huevo Meaning
The expression a huevo is used in many countries to convey different meanings. In Mexico, El
Salvador and Nicaragua it is used to say that they must go with the plan that was proposed. In Costa
Rica it is used to describe the action of achieving something with a lot of sacrifice. While in Spain it is
used to say that it will be very easy to obtain something. In Chile, Colombia and Ecuador people use it
to describe an object that is being sold at a very low price. It is incredible how this one same word has
a completely different meanings among these countries even though they all speak the same language:
Spanish. Chambear means to work in Mexico, Ecuador, Honduras, and Peru. In the other hand, in the
Dominican Republic it means to inhale ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Chile this expression means done immediately, for example, al tiro me voy del trabajo , meaning I
m leaving work immediately. In Uruguay means someone that has a lot of things to get done. Another
word that has different meanings depending to the country is rapar. In the Dominican Republic this
word means to have sexual intercourse with someone that is not your spouse, like an affair. In
Colombia, Chile and Argentina, rapar means to cut one s hair so short it is almost bald. One might
think that a Taco is just the famous mexican food and it is a word that is worldwide understood
uniquely as the food. This is true up to a point. As to a Taco can be refered to a dish, it may also be
used to describe a traffic jam in Chile and Colombia. In Spain it is a rude way to refer to a issue,
problem or a riot, for example, estoy cansada de tus tacos meaning, I am tired of your problems. In
Venezuela a taco can be someone that is smart and in the Dominican Republic, a taco can also be
refered to high heel shoes aside from the Mexican dish

Response To Essay For The Birds
Should we be feeding the birds? It should not be done because it makes the birds lazy unhealthy and
easier prey for predators. In the passage For the Birds the author claims that bird feeders will bring
wildlife to your backyard. They also state that having feeders attracts the birds to your yard so if you
have trees, bushes, flowers or any thing like that, it can provide a safe haven away from predators.
This is great for bird watchers because you can watch them as they eat, and if you want to attract a
particular species of bird to watch then you can put out a particular seed.
In the passage Stop Feeding Wild Birds, the author agrees with my opinion and stated that you
shouldn t feed wild birds. They say that having these artificial

The Methodology Behind Beer Production And Beer Analysis
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment was to mimic and understand the methodology behind beer production
and beer analysis. The type of beer produced was based on being a Paulener Weissbier clone.
Furthermore, this type of homemade beer followed the extract brewing methodology for beer
production. The analysis of beer consists of measuring various key factors that the beer industries use
to assert the quality of beer. These characterizations of a product are alcohol percentage, SRM Colour,
International bitter units and specific gravity.
It is important to address that for this specific lab alcohol percentage was replaced with total
carbohydrates. This was done since alcohol percentage was extremely hard to quantify with the

of crushed Munich malt and 2 oz. flaked wheat was inserted into a muslin bag and tied at bout ends.
When the temperature of the water in the source pan reached 150 F the grain bag was introduced into
the saucepan. The muslin bag was kept in the saucepan for 20 minutes, under temperatures raging
between 155 to 165F, occasionally being squished by a wooden spoon with the intention to promote
the extraction of sugars. After the 20 minutes at 155 165F the grain bag was removed and placed in a
strainer above the pan.
When the water in the kettle reached the boiling point the strainer (with the grain bag in it) was put on
top of the kettle. When the strainer was put in place water was slowly poured from the saucepan over
the grain into the kettle. The kettle was heated until fully boiling. Once the kettle starts boiling 2.75
lbs of dried malt extract and 0.6 oz of Haletauer hops (in a muslin bag) for 60 minutes. After the 60
minutes a sterilized lid was placed on top of the kettle and allowed to cool for a few minutes,
following this, the kettle was put in a cold water bath.
The kettle was allowed to cool for at leas 30 min or until the temperature inside reached 45 C. when
the liquid was sufficiently cooled the lid was removed and the liquid stirred to introduce oxygen into
the mixture (its important to note that the mixture was exposed to the atmosphere less than 60 sec).
The mixture was transferred to the fermentation bucket and mix with the brewer s spoon. A package

Math IA
What factors make certain types of ammo more accurate and long range than other types of ammo?
Abiud Garcia
IB Candidate: 000853 0012 Introduction My personal interest in this subject comes from my career
aspiration. As I intend to pursue a military career, the study of firearms, missiles, and ballistics in
general have always been of interest to me. I wanted to find out the physical reasons different ammo
types are more accurate at longer ranges. Ballistics and ballistic sciences are the studies of fired
projectiles, most commonly bullets, and the behavior of these projectiles after being fired. These
behaviors include the flight, speed, accuracy, trajectory, and a range of other actions the projectile may
take in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, by designating rounds as to whether the belong to rifles or sniper rifles, a comparison of
their stats would provide insight as to what made the sniper rifle rounds, the rounds that are
definitively more accurate over a distance, more accurate than their normal counterparts.
In addition, aside from these traits, ballistic coefficient is another important factor that must be
considered to determine why each round has a different range and accuracy. Ballistic coefficient can
be described as the measure of bullets effectiveness at retaining its velocity while in the air. This
measure is included because it helps in analyzing how each round performs in relation to its weight,
size, and velocity. The ballistic coefficients of the above rounds are listed so that comparisons can be
carried out and any significant influences determined. The values are derived using a ballistic chart
that incorporates bullet weight and diameter into calculations.
Table 2
It must be noted that ballistic coefficient values are not definitive and are subject to change according
to environmental factors. These values are taken under ideal circumstances where the atmospheric
conditions are calm and the bullet is in flawless condition when fired from a standard rifle of its type.
Finally, it was necessary to list the effective range of each round. This way, comparison between each
round and analysis of each trait and differences between

Anglo Saxon Heroic Deeds Meaning
In Anglo Saxon culture, it is very important to be remembered. The only way to be remembered was
to perform a heroic deed that was later recited as a poem to a large group of people on multiple
occasions. They turned these stories into poems so it was easier for the storyteller to remember it and
Bards would recite these to people for centuries so it was very important for people to become a hero
or cause a major change to be part of these stories and remembered forever. The definition of a hero
now versus the definition of a hero in the Anglo Saxon time period isn t much different but the
definition of what is a heroic deed is much different. In modern day culture, a good example of a
heroic deed would be a firefighter, someone risking their lives to save others. In Anglo Saxon culture,
a good example of a heroic deed would be to kill someone who is harmful, someone risking their lives
to save others. Notice how each person the firefighter or the warrior they both risked their lives to save
others but in modern day someone killing someone for others isn t really a hero. Because of an
existing judicial system, heroes only save people instead of sacrificing and killing others. Heros
during Anglo Saxon were the judicial system and were responsible for punishment which meant
sacrificing terrible people to save others. In our modern day culture, a hero is someone who stands up
and fights for a group of people or a cause. A hero is someone with characteristics such as courageous,
brave and kind. With a judicial system and police officers, a hero is a lot different in our society. A
hero will take care of things that government officials won t handle. Heros will stand up for an opinion
or flaw in government law such as women s rights or gay marriage. In Anglo Saxon culture, the heroes
were the judicial system so they used violence to carry out punishment for bad people. In modern day
a hero doesn t use violence as an answer to problems. Other heroes are firefighters because they risk
their lives to save others every day. In the article, Social Representations of Hero and Everyday Hero
it says, The social representation of Hero can be summarized as a collection of abstract values and
characteristics.

The Main Effects Of The Reichstag Fire
Which was more important to Hitler, the Reichstag Fire or the Enabling Act?
Both the Reichstag Fire and the Enabling Act contributed to Hitler becoming Der Fuhrer . Though
would the Enabling Act have been attainable if it were not for the Reichstag fire? I doubt many of the
events that followed the fire would ve occurred if the Reichstag building was still intact. Ergo, I
believe that the fire was more important to Hitler. Throughout this essay I will look at the effects of
both events analysing supporting evidence to evaluate how they impacted Hitler. The main effects of
the Reichstag fire are the following: it created a state of emergency, it made enemies of the
Communists and increased support for the Nazis. The main effects of the Enabling act are the
following: it transformed the democracy into a dictatorship, it allowed Hitler to ban all other political
parties and enforced terror and censorship.
Either the Nazis were extremely lucky and Lubbe started the Reichstag Fire on the night of February
29th, 1933, or they staged the fire themselves. Nevertheless, the burning of the building provided
Hitler with the perfect opportunity to declare a state of emergency so he could use Article 48. (A law
under the Weimar constitution, which, in the case of an emergency, would allow him to pass any new
laws without consulting the Reichstag). Hitler used Article 48 to introduce the Reichstag Fire Decree
and the Enabling Act. The cartoon The Red Peril 1 by British cartoonist

  • 2. Gender Socialization Essays Gender Socialization A baby is born and the doctor looks at the proud parents and says three simple words: Its a boy, or Its a girl! Before a newborn child even takes his or her first breath of life outside the mothers womb, he or she is distinguished and characterized by gender. The baby is brought home and dressed in clothes that help others identify the sex of the child. Baby boys are dressed in blue and baby girls are dressed in pink. The baby boy may be dressed in a blue shirt with a football or a baseball glove on it. The baby girl may wear a bow in her hair and have flowered pajamas. As the boy begins to grow, he is given a miniature basketball and a hoop to play with. The girl is given dolls an doll clothes to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Nancy ChodorowÕs essay ÒFamily Structure and Feminine PersonalityÓ she examines the development of gender identity and personality. Except for the stereotypical examples I have given above which again are e stablished by the parents, Chodorow states that the development of a child is basically the same for boys and girls until the age of three. During those first three years the mother is the dominant figure in the childÕs life. The father plays a limited role until the child reaches the so called ÒOedipalÓ period (beyond age 3). It is at this stage that children begin to try to separate themselves from the clutches of their mother and establish their own identity. Chodorow examines how different this is for boys and girls. KFRC radio disk jockey Ron Parker recently reported that out of a survey of one hundred fourth grade boys and one hundred fourth grade girls, the boys receive an average weekly allowance that is approximately 50% higher than the girls receive. On the average, the boys receive $4.18 as compared to the $2.67 paid to the girls. To look even further, the survey reported that the boys only perform three household chores to earn their weekly allowance whereas the girls are performing twel ve or more. Why are the girls expected to do four times as much work around the house than the boys are? ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Passion For Music And The Music Industry I have always had a passion for music and the music industry, and my parents and I both knew that I was not going for school, unless it was for something music related. The music industry is such a broad category and there are so many moving parts within this sector. I chose music promotion for my career project, because it would allow me to go in and out of different departments within the music industry, along being able to work alongside creative individuals for artists. Pursuing a career in music promotion would allow me to have my cake and eat it too, so to speak. Music has not only been my passion, but by main focus for at least the past ten years. I was always attracted to sound and music from as young as I could remember. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You do not need a specific degree or even a higher level of education in order to be successful in this industry. This industry, and a career in music promotion is all about networking, ambition, a tenacious attitude and a passion for your work. Unlike many other professions, the daily workload is not a fixed amount or even a fixed measure of time. There may be day where you are working from sun up to sun down, meeting other record executives or members, making phone calls left and right, or on the road traveling to your next event. But then, there might be some moments when your job is to solely make sure the artists you are managing are getting to their venues on time and meeting all the appropriate industry people. Although all of this can seem quiet fast pace and a bit chaotic, one of the many benefits of this career is the expectation that the artists you are promoting have of you. What do I mean by that? The artists actually expect you to hang out with them for the night after a big show, or even right before shows. These artists are always down to party, and they need a crew to have fun with, and as a music promoter, you are a part of this crew! There are not many other industries with this same expectation. Like I mentioned earlier, a career in music promotion does not require a specific degree or level of certification, but that does ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Go Set A Watchman By Harper Lee Synopsis Harper Lee s novel, Go Set a Watchman, tells the story of the 26 year old Jean Louise as she gains awareness of her father s flaws and becomes a more independent and flexible person. During the novel s exposition, Jean Louise is on a train returning to her hometown, Maycomb, to visit her aging father, Atticus. Upon returning home, Jean Louise quickly gets into an argument with her aunt, Alexandra, over trivial matters. The two continue to bicker at each other until Atticus intervenes. While Jean Louise finds it extremely frustrating that her aunt is never able to understand her point of view, she finds comfort believing that Maycomb has remained the same since she last left. The narrative hook occurs when Jean Louise is informed of the changes that have taken place in Maycomb. A notable example is when Henry Clinton, Jean s old friend, informs her that her family sold Finch s Landing to a club. Jean is surprised at this and expresses her displeasure at her world changing by stating; I just don t like my world disturbed without some warning... (Lee 75). Many of the changes don t hinder Jean, but she is still bothered by the fact that her world is changing without her knowledge. During the rising action, Jean Louise discovers a racist pamphlet owned by her father. She confronts Alexandra about it, and her aunt informs her that Atticus had brought it home from the citizen s council meeting. Mortified, Jean Louise goes to the meeting to find Atticus and Henry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In modern literary interpretation, the correspondence of the authors intention with the meaning of the work, is considered paramount to discerning the true literary meaning of a work . E.D. Hirsch a renowned literary critic argues that to correctly interpret a text, the interpret must consider the author and the text s inner and out horizon . To discover the inner horizon, the interpreter must look at the culture and background of the work and author so they can understand the logic, belief systems, and historical context that bound the work. The addition of the outer horizon allows the reader to consider the author s intention in writing the piece. Hirsh establishes that a literary interpretation can be considered the most probable, if the reader considers the plausibility of the interpretation based on the context established from the text s horizon, coherence . Schroeder extensively describes the horizon of the text as well as the horizon of the author and his intention and evaluates her own claim with data and support. First, she describes the inner horizon of the text with a description of Nahua culture and background. This compound has a carbonate ion, which has a charge of 2 and a calcium ion, which has a charge of +2. Calcium carbonate has a few forms including chalk and limestone. The main use of these two materials is in the making of concrete, which is used for many things including buildings. The rate of the reaction is the speed that the reaction takes place; therefore, by measuring the rate, the amount of time the reaction takes will be measured. Hydrochloric acid is a stronger acid that is found in digestive juices in the human stomach and is also used for cleaning metals before they are coated. When you mix a strong acid like HCl with any carbonate you will have a chemical reaction in which CO2 gas is released. This means that it will fizz indicating a chemical reaction. These two elements can react with hydrochloric acid to yield carbon dioxide, calcium chloride and water. Most of the characters in Jane Austin s books, the female character are strong and smart and have a mind of their own. Jane Austin books were written 1811 to 1818, where women had no voice in society and only were accepted only to get married. Jane Austin books focus on the issue of marriage issues and how at this time women were married to the person that has more money and not for love. Her books show how the main female characters don t look at marriage this way (money) but focus on finding a person who understands and respects her. Jane Austin taught many girls and women how to dream, strive for what they want and not because a woman was born into a poor family she cannot dream. Research of Electric Car Batteries Satisfaction Rate The 21st Century Electric Car By Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning Tesla Motors The electric car, once the zero emissions darling of environmentalists, is sometimes maligned as an emissions elsewhere vehicle, since the electricity to charge its batteries must be generated in electrical generation plants that produce emissions. This is a reasonable point, but we must then ask how much pollution an electric car produces per mile accounting for all emissions, starting from the gas or oil well where the source fuel is extracted, all the way to the final consumption of electricity by the car s motor. When we work through the numbers, we find that the electric car is significantly more efficient and pollutes less than all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The famous Toyota Prius is EPA rated to get 55 mpg in combined city highway driving, for an energy efficiency of 0.56 km/MJ.7 Electric Cars Even with tires and gearing optimized for performance (rather that absolute efficiency), the Tesla Roadster only consumes about 110 watt hours (0.40 mega joules) of electricity from the battery to drive a kilometer, or 2.53 km/MJ. 8 The energy cycle (charging and then discharging) of the lithium ion batteries in the Tesla Roadster is about 86% efficient. This means that for every 100 mega joules of electricity used to charge such a battery, only 86 mega joules of electricity are available from the battery to power the car s motor. Thus, the electrical outlet to wheel energy efficiency of the Tesla Roadster is 2.53 km/MJ x 86% = 2.18 km/MJ. The most efficient way to produce electricity is with a combined cycle natural gas fired electric generator. (A combined cycle generator combusts the gas in a high efficiency gas turbine, and uses the waste heat of this turbine to make steam, which turns a second turbine both turbines turning electric generators.) The best of these generators today is the General Electric H System generator, which is 60% efficient,9 which means that 40% of the energy content of the natural gas is wasted in ... • 15. Restorative Justice And The Justice Centres Restorative Justice(RJ) is a process in by which it takes an alternative form from the traditional CJS and aims to prompt resolution with offender, victims and the wider community in a safe setting. RJ looks at crime in terms of violation against the community and individual rather than a violation against the law (Gabbay, 2005). As with the traditional CJS, the voices of the victims and offenders are very minimal and not adequately addressed to a large extent; restorative justice centres its main attention on these parties. Since the adoption of RJ practices, there have been different types of RJ created by various different countries that have also resorted to this practice, such as Family Group Conferencing (NZ and Australia) and Sentencing Circles (Canada) and victim offender mediation. Since, one of the main stakeholders of these conferences are victims, it is vital that their needs and wants are being heard and met and victim satisfaction is also one of the key restorative values in these conferences, thus it is important know whether their needs are being adequately met. This essay will critically discuss the principle of restorative justice, how restorative justice effectively addresses the concerns of victims using examples illustrated from Canada and New Zealand and the limitations of RJ in certain crime cases in addressing victim concerns. . The concerns will be based on the different proponents of RJ and the overall satisfaction that arises for victims out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Blaine of Maine, Grover Cleveland s opponent (Grover, 2015). Mr. Cleveland had won the election with 219 electoral votes, while Mr. Blaine had only received 182 electoral votes. March 4, 1885, Stephen Grover Cleveland officially became President of the United States (Adams, n.d.). Cleveland was known as the bachelor, but that had changed by June 1886. During this year Mr. Clevelend was wed to 21 year old Frances Folsom; he has been the only President married in the White House (Grover, 2015). While in Clevelands first term he vetoed an abundant amount of private pension bills towards the Civil War veterans, whose claims were obtained. When Congress, pressured by the Grand Army of the Republic, passed a bill granting the pensions for disabilities not caused by military service, Grover Cleveland Vetoed it as well (Grover, 2015). Grover Cleveland had later angered the railroads by constructing an investigation of western lands they held by Government grant. Cleveland forced the railroads to return 81,000,000 acres of land back to the Government and also signed the Interstate Commerce Act, the first law to attempt Federal regulation of the railroads (Grover, 2015). December 1887, Grover Cleveland called upon Congress to reduce the high protective tariffs. Spoken that he had given Republicans and issue for the compaign of 1888, Mr. Cleveland retorted, What is the use of being elect or re elected unless you stand for something? (Grover, 2015). • 18. The American Dream And The American Dream The answer to the question of whether or not the American Dream of owning a home is alive and well among Millenials is a resounding Yes! According to the National Association of Realtors, one consistent finding is that for the last four years homebuyers 36 years and younger is the largest share of homebuyers at 34 percent! Although Millenials have experienced the Great Recession, it evidently has not dampened their enthusiasm for home buying. It s possible that the older Millenials may have at first been reluctant and that they have delayed home buying until a little later in life, but they are certainly on board now! I am a senior in college, and I was born in 1995 so I m considered a Millenial. For me personally, home ownership is a worthwhile goal. I don t intend to buy a home until I have graduated from college, have decided where I want to live, and I have my dream job. I think Millenials are cautious about financial matters, but I also think that can be a great advantage. Generally we don t rush into decisions without a great deal of thought and analysis. That means that when we do buy a home, we are financially and emotionally prepared and less likely to lose that home due to foreclosure It s easy to understand why home ownership is considered a major component of the American Dream. As a college senior looking toward graduation, I understand that owning a home can mean independence from my landlord, a statement that I have arrived or succeeded, ... An analysis of gender, class and westernization all combine together into multi layered complications that Africans faced in the colonial and postcolonial period. These challenges come from examples such as the slave trade and the break from colonial power to the political complications that limit the development in the rest of the country. Westernization dismantled a lot of social and political authority within Africa and created a new standard of class that favors those who are affiliated with European heritage and its is still being embedded today. Gender plays into this role as well as it can be used as a way to deprive one s dignity and status or can be a way to show one s wealth. Westernization started when there was a stable and ... Another type is tribal stigma, which are those stigma that can be inherited through lineages and equally contaminate members of that lineage. Essay about Physics Cantilever Lab Independent Assessment Physics Lab (SL): Cantilever Flexion Cherno Okafor Mr. Ebrahimi SPH4U7 October 21st, 2012 Introduction Purpose: The purpose of this Physics Lab is to investigate what factors determine the amount of flexion of the cantilever. Hence, the objective is to establish a relationship between the length of a cantilever, which may give some insight into the physics of cantilevers. Hypothesis: If one increases the length of a cantilever, one would expect there to be an increase in deflection/flexion of the cantilever. Similarly, if one increases the mass of the load, one would expect there to be an increase in the deflexion/flexion of the cantilever. In addition, I predict that proportionality will also occur ... This will be measured indirectly by measuring the initial height of the bottom of the cantilever with no mass added (which is equal to the height of the table) and the new height of the bottom of the cantilever after each trial, which will be measured with mass added. Hence, the difference between these heights is equal to the deflection/flexion of the cantilever. The material and other physical properties of the cantilever will be controlled by using the same yardstick as a cantilever for each trial. • 25. How A Company Can Use Its Weaknesses And Opportunities The GE case is an example of how a company can use its weaknesses and opportunities to further its progress. The company saw the potential of the internet in changing businesses. Moreover, for a change to be effective and be felt across the organization, it must start from the top as Jack Welch showed by taking typing classes. Further, companies should embrace technology involve their clients whenever planning to change. This was seen when GE decided to launch the icenter to connect with customers on its products and services. GE s strategy, like the other companies, chose to change its way of doing business by embracing the power of the internet and seeking to be a leader in the field (Laudon Laudon, 2014). Rand McNally, on the other hand, provides businesses with lessons, such as changing the corporate culture to embrace productivity. The company had to do away with the conservative corporate culture. The CEO of the company chose to personally interact with employees through an open door policy and responded personally to emails. This is reminiscent of Welch s leadership at GE. Moreover, businesses should incur worthwhile risks to generate more income in addition to addressing the needs of their target audience. While scholars have disagreed about the direct influence of Seneca on Elizabethan drama. The Elizabethan era was a time of relative hope and confidence. Every fresh addition to the knowledge of the history and thought of ancient Greece and Rome was eagerly welcomed. Sir Thomas North s translation of Plutarch s Lives, which was first published in 1579, provided the framework, and sometimes, even the wording, of the Roman plays of Shakespeare, Beaumont and Fletcher, Ben Jonson and Massinger. These plays and their leading figures undoubtedly made a special appeal to the Elizabethan playgoer, who perhaps drew a parallel between the history of those days and the stirring times in which he himself was living. We may, indeed, note here that it was easy for the English to identify themselves with the Romans, whose occupation of Britain had left so firm an impression on their life, laws, and language, and whose feeling for order, justice, and personal integrity in administration they had inherited. In later times, when the English, like Romans, became great Empire builders, their writers and orators often expressed their pride in this similarity of ideals and achievements.Shakespeare himself must have been keenly conscious of this affinity between his countrymen and their ancient ... Since 1994, the production of cell phones has increased from 24 million to 182 million in wireless phone apparatuses. With 162 million established cell phone users in the United States the cell phone market is rapidly increasing . To create the visual of lightning, strobe lights were used At a very slow speed, it can be used to simulate camera flashes or lightning effects (Mort , 2011. Pg 177). The lightning was used to enhance the intensity of the scene, it can also associated with the supernatural. Therefore, it highlights the importance of the vampire finally being revealed. The use of the strobe lights to create the lightning also informed the setting of the ship being in a storm at night as there was no other lighting used. A red light was used when the cabin changed from the captains quarters to the cargo cabin. The red light creates a tension on stage as it is used to identify the source of conflict in the production. Using the colour red can be interpreted as a foreshadow of the violence that would happen in that cabin, as that is where the vampire feeds of the captain and where he rises from in a later scene. The colour red was chosen as there are connotations and associations that can be made from the colour choice as Most people view the colour red to represent violence, anger and perhaps war (Wolf and Block, 2014, Pg 347). However, while using colour can generate associations it can also be argued that placing too much emphasis on the psychological effects of colour is a mistake (Wolf and Block, 2014, Pg 347). I was in my early 20 s and my roommates talked me into moving with them. Since I was originally from New York I anticipated living in Chicago would be very similar. The first couple weeks were exciting and new, we visited a lot of tourist sites and we knew our life in Chicago was going to be fun and exciting. The people seemed about the same as we were and most of the brands we had come to love in CA were available to us in our new home. After a few weeks I found a job at a local bowling alley. • 42. The Role Of Jealousy In Othello The Role of Jealousy in Othello. The drama Othello , is well known, for the way Shakespeare was able to make the audience focus on the destructive and corrupting power of jealousy. The theme jealousy in the drama Othello causes the major problems for the characters in the story. Jealousy in the story can be seen in two different views, which are: a) The destructive power of sexual jealousy. b) The jealousy of power and position. Sexual jealousy was exhibited as one of the destructive factors of jealousy that leads to tragic occasions for characters in the play. Othello was made to be sexually jealous by Iago about the way Desdemona was cheating on him with Cassio. For instance, when Iago told Othello Well, there you have it! Here s a ... Also, Iago was jealous of Othello s relationship with Desdemona. For instance when Iago says It cannot be that Desdemona should long continue her love to the Moor/She must change for youth (Shakespeare 1.3.378 382). This quote furthers shows how Iago was jealous for Othello and Desdemona s love. Desdemona is the daughter of a well respected Senate, and she is much known for her beauty, and it seems like all the men in Venice in one way wanted to her as their wife, and Othello, who is a moor cannot just marry Desdemona. Furthermore, Iago was jealous of Othello from the fact that he hated him, even if he was given the position or not. For instance where Iago said Though I do hate him as I do hell pains, yet, for necessity of present life, I must show out a flag and sign of love which is indeed but sign (Shakespeare (1.1.171 174). A convenient and intuitive approach to conceptualizing the multifaceted visual quality assessment problem is to make an analogy with the classical communication problem. We will make extensive use of Fig. 1, which depicts a number of important concepts, beginning with the lower part of the figure, which depicts the elements and flow of a transmitter channel receiver communication system. As the caption explains, in this analogy, the transmitter is the world of visible radiant energy and of object surfaces that interact in a physically and statistically lawful manner, projecting through lenses to images that are incident on a sensor. Because of the coherent nature of matter and the physical properties of light, natural images that are formed by an optical process obey laws that can be statistically expressed. Section III elaborates on this, but for now the term natural image or natural video may be construed to mean an optical signal sensed from visible light that has been captured by an ordinary good quality camera equipped with a low distortion lens under reasonably good conditions. This means that the image is not distorted by noticeable aliasing from poor resolution, over or under exposure from poor lighting, or other impairments arising from poor technique. Further, naturalness implies that the signal was not synthetically created by computer graphics techniques, nor had its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Self Denial And Self-Denialing In Miss Brill By Katherine... There are millions of people who live in self denial and self rejection. When one thinks of self denial, most people picture a young person trying to find his or her way through society without being ridiculed, but what does it mean when self denial lingers into adulthood? In her acclaimed short story, Miss Brill author Katherine Mansfield does not detail her story in a descriptive, elaborate style, yet the reader can infer that the protagonist, Miss Brill, is a woman who is self conscious and yearns to be important to the point she denies her pain and sorrow. Miss Brill desires to be normal since in the literary article Reductive Imagery in Miss Brill she is depicted as an a foreigner (in xenophobic France) without friends or relatives (Mandel 474) Anyone in that situation would try his or her best to fit in and not be mocked. The fur and pieces of clothing in the story are a symbol of her hidden self denial and low confidence. Miss Brill goes out to present the clothes so the public would take notice, but the public did not. People who wear nice clothing want others to notice, and when people notice the nice clothing, a person s confidence is elevated. Mrs. Brill is hurt that no one takes the time out to compliment or notice her. She yearns to be important to the public and be a person of significance. Yet, notice how Miss Brill is so detached from the society she is living in. She is more immersed in living through society instead of living her life and it produces ... Children s books address this problem by combining relatability, students interests as well as connections to the text, and functionality, the ability for it to be used to fulfill standards. The books offer a unique medium where everyone has an opinion or experience that connects in a significant way to them. The relatability comes from the stories prevalence in culture. Teachers must find a way to get students to connect to the story, form complex ideas about the story s meaning, and show them how to prove these ideas; A difficult task to complete with books that take weeks to read. There is a need, therefore, to limit the quantity of tasks a teacher needs to complete to teach students how to interpret the text. The lesson uses children s books to correct the problem by having relatability established beforehand and, in many cases, getting students to interact with the material in a critical way that is meaningful for them. Numerous studies have shown that using materials that students relate to and care about increases retention and speeds up initial learning. Connections are rarely formed, however, when students are forced to quickly and artificially connect with books that they have not chosen because they are interested in it, but because someone is making them read the story. Children s books get around this by offering an interesting multi dimensional forum where students already have personal experiences from popular culture references to the stories and their own concerns, ranging from gender roles to morality, developed slowly over time rather than demanded immediately. Most importantly, because children s stories were a part of students childhood and allowed them to naturally form new ideas and impressions about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Abiud Garcia IB Candidate: 000853 0012 Introduction My personal interest in this subject comes from my career aspiration. As I intend to pursue a military career, the study of firearms, missiles, and ballistics in general have always been of interest to me. I wanted to find out the physical reasons different ammo types are more accurate at longer ranges. Ballistics and ballistic sciences are the studies of fired projectiles, most commonly bullets, and the behavior of these projectiles after being fired. These behaviors include the flight, speed, accuracy, trajectory, and a range of other actions the projectile may take in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, by designating rounds as to whether the belong to rifles or sniper rifles, a comparison of their stats would provide insight as to what made the sniper rifle rounds, the rounds that are definitively more accurate over a distance, more accurate than their normal counterparts. In addition, aside from these traits, ballistic coefficient is another important factor that must be considered to determine why each round has a different range and accuracy. Ballistic coefficient can be described as the measure of bullets effectiveness at retaining its velocity while in the air. This measure is included because it helps in analyzing how each round performs in relation to its weight, size, and velocity. The ballistic coefficients of the above rounds are listed so that comparisons can be carried out and any significant influences determined. The values are derived using a ballistic chart that incorporates bullet weight and diameter into calculations. Table 2 It must be noted that ballistic coefficient values are not definitive and are subject to change according to environmental factors. These values are taken under ideal circumstances where the atmospheric conditions are calm and the bullet is in flawless condition when fired from a standard rifle of its type. Finally, it was necessary to list the effective range of each round. This way, comparison between each round and analysis of each trait and differences between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Anglo Saxon Heroic Deeds Meaning In Anglo Saxon culture, it is very important to be remembered. The only way to be remembered was to perform a heroic deed that was later recited as a poem to a large group of people on multiple occasions. They turned these stories into poems so it was easier for the storyteller to remember it and Bards would recite these to people for centuries so it was very important for people to become a hero or cause a major change to be part of these stories and remembered forever. The definition of a hero now versus the definition of a hero in the Anglo Saxon time period isn t much different but the definition of what is a heroic deed is much different. In modern day culture, a good example of a heroic deed would be a firefighter, someone risking their lives to save others. In Anglo Saxon culture, a good example of a heroic deed would be to kill someone who is harmful, someone risking their lives to save others. Notice how each person the firefighter or the warrior they both risked their lives to save others but in modern day someone killing someone for others isn t really a hero. Because of an existing judicial system, heroes only save people instead of sacrificing and killing others. Heros during Anglo Saxon were the judicial system and were responsible for punishment which meant sacrificing terrible people to save others. In our modern day culture, a hero is someone who stands up and fights for a group of people or a cause. A hero is someone with characteristics such as courageous, brave and kind. With a judicial system and police officers, a hero is a lot different in our society. A hero will take care of things that government officials won t handle. Heros will stand up for an opinion or flaw in government law such as women s rights or gay marriage. In Anglo Saxon culture, the heroes were the judicial system so they used violence to carry out punishment for bad people. In modern day a hero doesn t use violence as an answer to problems. Other heroes are firefighters because they risk their lives to save others every day. • 52. The Main Effects Of The Reichstag Fire Which was more important to Hitler, the Reichstag Fire or the Enabling Act? Both the Reichstag Fire and the Enabling Act contributed to Hitler becoming Der Fuhrer . Though would the Enabling Act have been attainable if it were not for the Reichstag fire? I doubt many of the events that followed the fire would ve occurred if the Reichstag building was still intact. Ergo, I believe that the fire was more important to Hitler. Throughout this essay I will look at the effects of both events analysing supporting evidence to evaluate how they impacted Hitler. The main effects of the Reichstag fire are the following: it created a state of emergency, it made enemies of the Communists and increased support for the Nazis. The main effects of the Enabling act are the following: it transformed the democracy into a dictatorship, it allowed Hitler to ban all other political parties and enforced terror and censorship. Either the Nazis were extremely lucky and Lubbe started the Reichstag Fire on the night of February 29th, 1933, or they staged the fire themselves. Nevertheless, the burning of the building provided Hitler with the perfect opportunity to declare a state of emergency so he could use Article 48.
