The Winding Stair And Other Poems
As Professor Pethica points out, the volume The Winding Stair and Other Poems is extraordinary
because its textual history is particularly elaborate, even by Yeats s standards. Although I would love
to explore the relationship between different editions, as we did when we talked about different
editions of Wilde Swans at Coole, the task is too huge to be tackled sufficiently in this paper. In order
to preclude any ambiguity, I would like to clarify that whenever I use the title The Winding Stair and
Other Poems in this paper, unless otherwise specified, I am referring to the last edition published in
1933. Since the early stage of Yeats s career, the poet has been concerned with mortality. The poet
seems to suggest that art is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Losing all touch with the finer consciousness of the age it would be, not only irresponsible, but anemic
(Foster, 441). In the poem Three movements, the poet observes that Shakespearean fish swam the sea,
far away from land; / Romantic fish swam in nets coming to the hand; / What are all those fish that lie
gasping on the strand? (Finneran, 240) Yeats is neither detached Shakespearean fish, nor credulous
Romantic fish; he is the fish that lie gasping on the strand, and the volume The Winding Stair and
Other Poems is his struggle with the crisis of his age, both the age of the poet (nearly 70 at the time)
and the age of the world (1930s). We have talked a lot about Yeats s dialectical effort to transcend
mortality and achieve immortality in his poetry. Such effort to transcend mortality presupposes the
dichotomy between life and death. Indeed, in previous volumes, may concepts are contingent upon a
symmetrically opposing idea: the symbol of the Mask presupposes the dichotomy between self and
anti self, and many of Yeats s poems feature the dichotomy between female and male. However, in the
volume The Winding Stair and Other Poems, Yeats points out a simple yet fundamental fact, that these
dichotomies are all human constructs. In the poem Vacillation, the speaker solemnly observes that
Between extremities / Man runs his course (Finneran, 250). The most important dichotomy that Yeats
inspects in this volume is the one between life and death. The poet points

Criticism And Imagery In Richard III, By William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare s Richard III is an historical tragedy written in 1591. The play covers events in
the latter years of the War of the Roses (1455 1485). That war a prolonged, intermittent conflict
between the two noble houses of York and Lancaster; the play chronicles the bloody deeds and
atrocities perpetrated by its central figure the murderous and tyrannical King Richard III. After a long
war between the noble houses of York and Lancaster, England is at peace under the ruling of King
Edward IV and the victorious family of York. But Edwards s younger brother, Richard Duke of
Gloucester resents Edwards s power and the happiness of those around him. Malicious, power hungry
and his bitterness towards his physical deformity (hunch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this metaphor, he compares conscience with a creature with many tongues. That his tongue has a
different conscience but everything condemns himself. No one believes what Richard III says
anymore, and even himself. The last imagery is, True hope is swift, and flies with swallow s wings.
(Act 5 Scene 2) Richmond compares hope to a bird. Hope with good cause is swift; it flies as fast as a
swallow. Hope that their hope would fly fast as like a swallow and it will come true. And it did come
true. Richmond killed Richard III and became the king. Richard III opens in 1483 with the title
character delivering one of Shakespeare s most famous soliloquies. The first thirteen lines establish
the cheerful, optimistic mood in the kingdom now that Richard s brother, Edward IV, has reclaimed
the throne and the War of the Roses, which began in 1455, appears to have ended. Richard sums up
the situation in the first two lines of the

George Frederickson State Of Social Equity
Article Review
The State of Social Equity in American Public Administration. H. George Frederickson. National
Civic Review, winter 2005, pp. 31 38.
George Frederickson s article, The State of Social Equity in American Public Administration, analyzes
the evolution of social equity in American public administration, outlines examples of the ever
widening social equity gap, and charges public administrators to walk the talk about social equity. In
his thesis statement, Frederickson argues that available data suggest that despite the long history of
public administration and the enormous contribution it has made toward ensuring a more equitable
society, the American society has become less equal in the social, economic, and political life ... Show

Frederickson aptly makes the connection between public administration and democracy and warns of
the grave consequences of treating the issue of social equity, which is central to these tenets
superficially. He warns that the foundation of democracy is threatened by a weak social equity regime.
It is the point that has caught my attention.
The author was able to draw a correlation between social equity and democracy. He argues, If
disparities of participation and influence become further entrenched and if average citizens give up on
democratic government unequal citizenship could take on a life of its own, weakening American
democracy for a long time to come. With this assertion, the writer posits that societal inequality, due to
unequal citizenship is a direct threat to the survival of America s democracy. People who feel left out
of the system may develop apathetic attitudes toward their civic duties by staying out of participatory

The Strong Sense Of Motherhood, By Sylvia Plath
The aim of this present paper is to give a detailed analysis of the psychological indication of a human
mind before being a mother after pregnancy. The name Sylvia Plath, an American confessional poet,
itself is the matter of great psycho as it has been discussed a lot since the past few decades. With this
two poems foreshadowing the cult of the deep psychology of a girl before having a sense of
motherhood completely, Plath exaggerates the notion of the strong sense of motherhood as well as her
own feeling over the unborn being growing up gradually in herself. A deep psychology and strong
sense of motherhood completely grasps over her brain made her able to pen the theme of her strong
feeling over the unborn. And this kind of physical as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are few poems which surprisingly talk about children from the parents point of view. The child
on swallowing the world develops its own clear voice. In the poem Metaphors Plath compared herself
to a riddle in nine syllables implying the long nine months of pregnancy before child birth and also
intensifies the pang and suffering of carrying of a baby in her womb. The strong depiction of the
figurative use of the melon skillfully corroborates the two sides of the prototype of a female character
one is of woman and the another is of an unborn baby that is resembled with fine timbers . Kate Moses
concludes that in the poem s culminating lines Plath s narrator becomes completely and willingly
effaced allowing her child full ownership. His stark idealization of loaf s big image symbolizes the
true picture of a pregnant woman whose womb is filled up by the unborn baby. Her strong depiction of
the close connection of a mother with that of her unborn child is incorporated by this images like
ponderous house , a cow in calf

Functionalism And The Inverted Spectrum
Imagine walking past a garden with an assortment of flowers. Now close your eyes and take in each
distinguishing familiar smell. As you take a whiff you smell the differences between the roses, lilies,
and even tulips. We can tell the sound of a drum from that of a gong; the touch of cool, smooth marble
as we run our fingers over it distinctively feeling the difference from that of sandpaper. Our everyday
lives are continuous experiences of sensations. These sensations have characteristic qualitative
features, which are called phenomenal , phenomenological or sensory qualities. In philosophical terms
these sensations can be referred to as qualia, which are defined as properties of experiences that type
them in phenomenological respects .
The understanding on the knowledge of other minds has provided a puzzle known as the inverted
spectrum. This possibility has emerged as an important challenge to functionalist accounts of qualia.
Functionalism is committed to defining mental states in terms of their cause and effects . By
identifying sensory events with casual roles, however, functionalism appears to be missing qualitative
aspects all together. The topic of spectrum inversion has often been raised as a contradiction to
functionalism, as well as other materialist theories about consciousness. These negates to
functionalism show that even when all the relevant physical facts are held constant, the facts about
qualia can still vary, hence that the phenomenal must be over

many countries in Europe including the United Kingdom, Germany, and France (Tesla Motors, Inc,

➢ Promotional Medium and Method Tesla Motors has no advertising department, no ad team, and no
Chief Marketing Officer (Zart, 2014). Unlike other car companies, Tesla Motors does not have the
luxury of having money to spend on advertising (Zart, 2014). This is because they are still relatively
new and most of their capital is going towards investing in their company. Their promotional method
is very similar to that of luxury brands like Luis Vuitton or Bugatti, they have social media and news
stations advertise for them (Zart, 2014).
➢ Pricing Method Tesla Motors is building a luxury brand from scratch (D Arcy, 2013). While they
started out selling vehicles over $100,000, they have clear ambitions of targeting the middle class with
the upcoming Model 3 (D Arcy, 2013). Tesla Motors knew it would be far easier for them to start
making and selling luxury vehicles at a high markup as compared to selling cheaper models (D Arcy,
2013). By starting at such a higher price, they were able to help fund the

American Conservatism Essay
American Conservatism
Beginning with Nixon and continuing with Reagan after the radical changes of American culture in
the sixties and seventies, Americans would begin to shift towards more conservative ideas unsure of
the rapid radical change. In the 1994 mid term elections, the American people would elect a congress
of mostly conservatives for the first time in nearly 50 years. At the core of this success would be the
Contract with America. A set of promises and goals devised by conservative congressional
representative Newt Gingrich. In 2000 the Republicans (modern conservative party) would retain the
Congress and capture the White House. Conservatism has been a leading political ideology since the
inception of the United States to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historian Russell Kirk believes there are six basic tenets of all conservatism. To begin conservatives
believe in a transcendent order or body of natural law, which rules society as well as conscience.
Political problems at their roots are religious and or moral problems (9). The ideal that religion and
morality can have influence over political and social problems is widely seen in the United States. The
Republicans are often the choice of people with conservative Christian ideology.
Another important tenet of conservatism is a respect for the proliferating variety of human existence,
as opposed to the uniformity aims of most radical systems. Conviction that civilized society requires
orders and classes (Kirk 9). This is reflected in American conservatism belief that economic leveling
in inherently wrong. In the belief that economic leveling is wrong, conservatives also believe strongly
in protecting the rights of private property owners.
In addition, conservatives have a recognition that changes may not be salutary reform. Belief that
custom and convention are checks on radical change that could be harmful to society (Kirk 8). These
tenets are seen in American conservatism. In the fact that American conservative parties have always
been opposed to radical reform, such was the case when Franklin D. Roosevelt proposed and enacted
sweeping government intervention in his New Deal legislation.
In order to better understand conservatism one must consider

The Children s Story Corduroy By Don Freeman
The children s story named Corduroy, was written and illustrated by Don Freeman. This story was a
warming story of a girl s love for her stuffed bear that I enjoyed as a child. It stands out to me as a
story that shows that no matter what our flaws may be or who we are, someone still truly loves us.
In a small department store there was a stuffed bear named Corduroy, who was longing for an owner
to love him and care for him. Unfortunately, Corduroy was missing a button on his overalls, leading
his thoughts that nobody wanted take him home. One day when Corduroy was hoping that someone
would purchase him, a small girl spotted him and asked her mother if she could buy it for her. Sadly,
the girl s mother said no. That night, when the store was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The point in the story where Corduroy was purchased by the young girl and given a home reflects the
idea of adoption. As well, no matter what our flaws are, someone will want to take us in and provide
for us as a person that they truly loves. The fact that the little girl still wanted to take Corduroy home
and fix his overalls is a great example of this point. God will always be there for you when you
struggle.
The concepts in this book are fantastic points to remember throughout everyone s life and my own.
These concepts will always remind me that whenever I do mess up or do something wrong that God
will always care for me. Consequently, I am reminded that this story shows how God will always love
me no matter what mistakes I make in life. Thus, the whole story reminds me that I am important and
loved by God.
This story was a fantastic piece of work by Don Freeman, which I think will be a classic children s
book for ages. I plan on sharing it with my children to show them that I love them and that God loves
them. Even though it is a children s book, this is a fantastic reflection of how we should love others no
matter what their flaws are. Finally, it shows God loves everyone and wants the best for everyone no
matter who they

Essay about Campbell Soup Company Audit
Campbell Soup Company
Background
Campbell was founded shortly before the start of the Civil War. Abraham Anderson and Joseph
Campbell began manufacturing canned vegetables and fruit preserves. In 1976, Campbell bought out
Anderson s interest and renamed the firm the Joseph Campbell Preserving Company. Later, Arthur
Dorrance was Campbell s new partner. In the early 1920s, John Dorrance, Arthur Dorrance s nephew,
was the sole owner of the Campbell Soup Company, which was the largest producer of canned soup
products. Unfortunately, as the twentieth century was coming to a close, the nation s appetite for
condensed soup products was waning. The weakening demand prompted the company s executives to

Trade Loading
Campbell offered sizable trade discounts near the end of accounting period to entice customers to
make product purchases that they would otherwise defer. By this way, a company can use price
concessions to prop up its reported revenues and profits. Plaintiffs pointed out that PwC auditors were
aware of the excessive trade loading by their client and this should have been a red flag for PwC to
investigate the possibility that their client was fraudulently misrepresenting its operating results. The
judge agree with the plaintiffs that PwC s workpapers revealed the firm was aware of Campbell s
disproportionately sales near the end of quarterly reporting periods. However, the he disagreed with
the assertion that PwC should have considered those heavy sales a red flag. Instead, he pointed out
that PwC s workpapers referred to the large, period ending sales as a traditional trend in Campbell s
operating results.
This traditional trend may apply to Campbell s business environment, but may not to other industry.
An auditor had better understand the industry environment he or she involves in to judge whether
disproportionately sales near the end of quarterly reporting periods are normal or not.

Whether PwC would remain a defendant was whether the audit firm realized that large

Essay On Elonis
In today s society, we as a nation showcase our lives through social media. The case, Elonis vs. The
United States, the petitioner, Anthony Douglas Elonis, is no different. He was an inspiring rap artist
and was using Facebook as a platform to share his lyrics. After his divorce, things got out of hand. He
started to post threatful lyrics about his wife, co workers, and a kindergarten school. One of his friends
saw these post and decided to report it. The FBI ended up getting involved and before long Elonis
found out and started to post about the FBI agent. The FBI then had enough of it, so they arrested him.
At the lower court the jury of his peers felt that the post constituted a reasonable threat and sentenced
him to 44 months in prison. He, of course, appealed it, sending it to the Supreme Court, saying that his

not everything is going to be one sided. We will get responses that are not positive towards our
intentions. Even on private pages our thoughts and ideas become public. Screenshots are taken and
shared with the world. We have to be careful how we share and what we share. Especially, in a
professional setting. This case is a prime example of such. In conclusion, we can walk away from this
case. We learn from this case not everything that is useful is helpful. Elonis artistic ability to write
lyrics was certainly useful to his career, but it was not helpful in advancing his career. We can learn
that words do indeed hurt those around us. In this case, even the fan who followed Elonis was in some
way hurt by these lyrics. He was concerned enough to take time out of his day and report his concerns.

Teens In YA Literature
YA Literature has been around since the 19th century. During that time books for
children and teens were about the right morals and their religion. It was thought that children s
and teens should not be exposed to fictional stories. Then later down the years, YA Literature
developed into something else in the 1960s. According to Ashley Strickland, a reporter for CNN,
the term young adult was coined by Young Adult Library Services Association during the
1960s to represent the 12 18 age range . YA Literature is targeted at teens around this age.
Also, in regards to this article, these books were single problem novels and teens were
becoming bored. In order to take it up a notch, novels began to involve horror along with the
realistic issues. Books began to skyrocket, teens were addicted to their new genre, a genre just

books about fiction or more like paranormal and dystopian stories? Well Teens are caught
between two worlds, childhood and adulthood, and in YA, they can navigate those two worlds
and sometimes dualities of other worlds (Strickland). They can imagine what could ve

important to know the key factors and controllers when doing business on foreign territory. There are
many things to consider when you look at day to day operations and cultural differences, but more so
what you do in the event of a national state of emergency. There are always political issues, and
individual problems that each country deals with within their own country. What do you do when you

There is however some things that out of courtesy and respect most countries try to adhere to within
reason. The principle of Comity states that a nation will defer and give effect to the laws and judicial
decrees of another nation as long as those laws and decrees are consistent with the law and public
policies of the accommodating nation. Then you have The Act of State Doctrine and The Doctrine of
Sovereign Immunity, which simply says, that they tend to immunize foreign nations from the
jurisdiction of U.S. courts so that in general, U.S. firms or individuals who own property overseas
have little U.S. legal protection against government actions in the countries in which they operate. The
Act of state of Doctrine doesn t examine the validity of public acts committed by foreign government
within its own territory. The Doctrine of Sovereign Immunity makes states waive their immunity. So
as you see there is no real guarantee or protection that is guaranteed, it is all on the word of their
government. (USLegal, 2010)

What Is Instruction Is Through Personal Learning...
CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION
Introduction
The goal of any educator is to meet students where they are and help them grow academically. Since
students do not all learn in the same manner, differentiated instruction is needed to meet the diverse
needs of students today. One way to differentiate instruction is through personal learning
environments (PLEs). PLEs are platforms that help learners manage and take control of their learning;
they are a combination of tools, communities, and services that help learners direct their own learning
and reach educational goals. PLEs help students develop autonomy and it prepares them for lifelong
learning. Implementing PLEs in a public school could help to close gaps between low performing
students ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
PLEs employ different tools that help manage learning. For example, portfolios or e portfolios allows
learners to house completed work and share that work with teachers as needed. Collaboration tools
allow learners to connect with one another on social networking sites in order to work together to
complete projects and other assignments. Managing and planning tools allow learners to create to do
lists set goals. Journals, such as blogs, help learners record and reflect on their work. Last, a content
repository affords students the opportunity to keep videos, websites, and/or shared files. These
different tools are not independent of each other; they may be intertwined and interchangeable.
Learners use PLEs that are most beneficial to them and at times that are most conducive for their
schedule. In order for PLEs to be effective, educators must help learners develop the skills to be an
autonomous learner.
Learning management systems traditionally provide structures to guide online learners to achieve their
learning goals (Tu, Sujo Montes, Yen, Chan, Blocher, 2012, p. 13). Technologies, such as Web 2.0,
allow learners to create, share, and organize PLEs in open network environments. In addition, this
platform allows students to collaborate and engage in social networking. According to Tu et al.,
educators integrate Web 2.0 technologies to support online learning management system (LMS)

Essay about B2B v. B2C Supply Chains
B2B v. B2C Supply Chains
Introduction In the age of technology business has come a long way and evolved tremendously. It used
to be that brick and mortar was the only way to open and run a business. However, the internet has
changed all of that now businesses can use technology to reach customers and other businesses all
over the world. This has caused a great surge in the world wide economy. In 2003 Business to
Business (B2B) commerce tipped the scales at $1.41 Trillion. This is in comparison to Business to
Consumer (B2C) that was $90.1 Billion (Naraine, R.2003). All of these purchases need to get
transported and that is where businesses supply chains come in play. Contrary to popular belief the
supply chains of B2B and B2C ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, these are just the tip of the iceberg. B2C eCommerce now has matured and includes a
myriad of online services. These services can/ do include online banking, travel services, online
auctions, health information, real estate as well as some less reputable sites (Patton, S., 2001).
B2B vs. B2C Supply Chain The B2B and B2C supply chains might appear to be similar however, that
assumption can not be further from the truth. The main difference between the two is the amount of
channels a product must flow through before reaching the end user. With B2B there are less total
channels however they are greater in size when to compared to the greater amount of smaller channels
with B2C. (Marketing Profs, 2005) For example: A new car manufacturer is looking for tires to put on
their new line of cars. They would deal directly with a tire manufacturer to get their product. The
channels would simply be from the car manufacturer tire manufacturer raw supplies dealers. Now let s
look at an individual looking to book a flight and hotel in Las Vegas. The chain would be as follows,
individual online store airline airline staff hotel hotel staff. The next difference comes with technology
and that is integration, B2B needs to be integrated to their business partners software for smooth

The Weaknesses of the Parti Quebecois Bill 60
Secularism Long before the October Crisis in the 1970 s, the Parti Quebecois has been trying to
separate from Canada. The Parti Quebecois has implemented their own charter called Bill 60 in order
amend the current Canada Charter of Rights and Freedoms which is entrenched in the Constitution of
Canada. If this proposed bill were to be passed, it will cause many problems amongst the citizens of
Quebec in terms of diversity as it will be banning some of the most important guaranteed rights stated
in the Constitution: Freedom of expression and freedom of religion. Although there are positives to a
secular state, there are also a few negatives if you were to look closely. Citizens moved to places like
Canada to practice their freedom, not to have them taken away. Taking away these rights could start
separatist groups and maybe even start wars within the province of Quebec. The reason why this bill is
being proposed it that they Parti Quebecois would like to see more equality between men and women
(cbc.ca). There really is no reason for this bill to be passed as it shows how weak Quebec is mainly
because they are afraid of losing their own culture. The Quebec government has proposed a secular
charter, which has sparked another debate from local, provincial and federal politicians. If passed,
public sector employees such as teachers, police officers, doctors, and even politicians will be banned
from wearing any religious symbol. Once the bill was proposed, it started a back and

Shared Vision And Components Of Community Policing
A shared vision is considered a partnership between individuals or groups who seek to accomplish a

havoc. There is no sense of trust or unity between the two and therefore, a shared vision is necessary
to accomplish the developing of mutual trust and unity. In this essay, I will further discuss a shared
vision and its components that refer to community policing.
The term community policing establishes the recognition that law enforcement agencies have about
needing the community to help them fight crime. The sole purpose of law enforcement is to serve and
protect their communities but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Situations like these do not give communities the necessary opportunities to know their officers and
therefore the trust and unity breaks down. It is crucial for officers to remain constant in their
communities as much as possible and to slowly transition to other assignments when necessary. Once
trust and unity is in place, a shared vision of crime control and serving the public can take place. Law
enforcement and communities can unite to form a better living environment for all. That is a shared
vision that anyone would want to have and do whatever it takes to work towards.
In conclusion, a shared vision is necessary to change an unwanted negative atmosphere between two
groups or communities. Law enforcement agencies and communities would all benefit from coming
together with trust and unity. It will take a lot of work and dedication from both sides but it is one that
if achieved will bring peace and harmony. More importantly, it will greatly reduce crime and
unwanted living

Legally Blonde Film Analysis
Describe the movie you picked and why you picked it: The movie I chose, is titled Legally Blonde,
starring Reese Witherspoon. The movie follows the story of Elle Woods, who seems to have it all.
With her stunning blonde hair, sorority sisters, and her rich, senator aspiring boyfriend, she s sure to
have the perfect life. Elle s world gets turned upside down when her boyfriend, Warner Huntington III,
leaves her in the dust for Harvard law school in an attempt to find a Jackie O type of woman. Instead
of the shallow, unserious, and unwise, Marilyn , he claims Elle to be. Feeling desperate, Elle finds her

So, I feel like any conversation had with another female will be male focused. Additionally, there are
not as many women attending law school as men in this movie. This leaves less female to female
conversation and less opportunity for story lines that do not revolve around men. Hopefully, Legally
Blonde, proves me wrong and turns out to be the inspiring story I remember it to be as a kid.
Describe the results of your Bechdel Test in detail: 1) Were there at least two (2) named female
characters?
There are a total of eight named female characters in the movie. In order of appearance, these
characters include: Elle Woods, Margot, Enid, Paulette Bonafonte, Vivian Kensington, Brooke Taylor,
Chutney, and Mrs. Hayworth. However, only four of these women were actually involved in
conversation lasting a minute. The female characters that had main speaking roles include, Elle,
Paulette, Vivian, and Brooke.
Elle has been described as the main female character. Paulette is a manicurist that she develops a
friendship with along the way. In a way, she takes refuge with Pauline at the salon from the harsh
reality of Harvard and Warner. Vivian is a fellow classmate of Elle s and Warner s new fiancée, whom
eventually she finds a friend in. Brooke is the client that Elle s professor is defending in her internship.
2) Did these female characters talk to each other (for at least ~60 seconds)?

character that is captivating in this drama is Messer Nicia. The satire associated with his role kept the

The Report On The Amazon Basin
In the Amazon Basin, an amazing plant called Ayahuasca, which is an entheogenic brew made out of
Banisteriopsis caapi vine, and often in combination with various other plants. The word Ayahuasca ,
from the Quechua language, means vine of the souls . [1] For centuries, Amazonian shamans have
used Ayahuasca as a window into the soul. The main reason it can change human brain and
consciousness is that the plant contains a substance called DMT. N,N dimethyltryptamine (DMT) is an
illegal, psychedelic tryptamine compound found in the human body and at least 60 species of plants
worldwide. [2] Rick Strassman described it as the first endogenous human psychedelic in his book

theology had not enshrined DMT as its central exhibit for the presence of the other in the human

my commitment to the psychedelic experience. DMT was so much more powerful, so much more
alien, raising all kinds of issues about what is reality, what is language, what is the self, what is three
dimensional space and time. [5] Besides, Stephen Szara had also reported hallucinations of strange
creatures in his article Dimethyltryptamine Experiments with Psychotics. He described how one of his
subjects under the influence of DMT had experienced strange creatures, dwarves or something at the
beginning of a DMT trip. [7][8] Other researchers of the experience described entities or beings in

hallucination has been speculated to be the cause of alien abduction experiences through

10.4 Disadvantages Of Cellular Layout
10.4 COMPARISON OF INFORMATION FLOW
In existing layout the production line is very long, starting from preparatory to the end of assembly.
Because of this, communication and information flow is difficult and for each and every thing
supervisor has to walk around the line frequently. In case of new layout (cellular layout) the
information flow is effective and quick. Because, the group of people who are in the same cell, works
in compact area where each operator is in direct contact with other operator of the cell and they know
each other s job inside the cell. This makes information flow fast and accurate. Whereas this cannot be
achieved in long assembly line; where one operator is in contact with only two operators (one operator
before and one operator after his operation) so neither he can give any suggestion nor he knows the
issues of other operation i.e. workers are not participating in each other s work, rather working
independently.
10.5 COMPARISON OF REWORK LEVEL
The rework level has been decreased by 80% over existing trends. In existing production, the rework
level is approximately 5% but after implementation of recommended layout the rework level falls to
1%. The main reason for rework reduction is due to reduction in WIP and balanced work cells. Due to

So there is no arguing that someone is doing a difficult operation and others are working in easier
operations. On the other hand, this is not possible in batch production because of specific allocated
work for the whole day. Similarly, in case of new layout, operators are treated as a group inside the
cell so their combined effort is to do better and produce more. Likewise, operators cannot work
carelessly because they will be immediately caught by the next operator inside the cell, so the
combined result of all these factors motivates them to do better in each

Attitudes Toward Nature In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Mary Shelley exemplifies the Romanticism ideas of the love and reverence for nature in the excerpt
from her novel, Frankenstein. The narrator of the excerpt, Victor Frankenstein, employs naturalistic
imagery, abstract diction, and cumulative sentences to convey his attitude that nature is rejuvenating
and restoring. The narrator utilizes naturalistic imagery to illustrate his attitude towards nature. As
Frankenstein is travelling through the mountains he describes the scene around him. He describes the
vast mountains and icy wall of the glacier, which creates the image of the solemn silence of nature.
That image provokes the feeling of reverence and awe for nature because in silence the narrator can
take in all the sounds and beauty of what is around him. Frankenstein then goes on to say how these
scenes gave him the greatest consolation, which reveals his attitude towards nature and how he
believes it is rejuvenating because it is lifting his spirits and comforting him when it is implied he is
upset over something. Furthermore the narrator reflects on all the images he took in on his day of
travelling, the unstained snowy mountaintop, the glittering pinnacle, the pine woods, the eagle. ...

nature. As he gazes on the sublime and magnificent scenes around him, he is serene and rejuvenated
by them, depicting his attitude of the restorative effects that nature has on people, because one can

I would love to get back into running. It used to be a passion of mine, a way to relieve stress, kept me
in shape, and maintained my weight. Since I have stopped running there s no motivation for physical
activity, I m out of shape, and gained weight. My long term goal is to get back into running everyday.
It will put me back into a healthy lifestyle and will make me feel better over all.
If I do not return to running it will affect my physical health by making me gain more weight, and
continue to be out shape. This can make me become lazy. Socially it has affected me because I pushed
the friends I had away that I used to run with. I was ashamed to tell them that I was getting lazy.
Running used to help me clear my mind and allowed me to focus on priorities, but now that I have
stopped, I no longer can fully clear my mind. This is affecting my ability to perform my best in school.
Without running everyday, spiritually I feel like I ve just been going through the motions of life, but
not really living up to my potential. Since I pushed away all my friend who supported my running, I
do not have an environment that is supportive of physical activity. All of these factors are making me
live an unhealthy lifestyle.

people who support me living a healthy lifestyle. I would be a lot less stressed and would be thinking
a lot clearer. I will actually be able to remember

Typical assets that can be sold this way are mortgages, credit card debt, car loans or student debt. This
model was used by Northern Rock (NR) in the UK where they originated mortgages that were then
securitised. This enabled them to churn their balance sheet and issue more mortgages. There was an
inherent liquidity risk run by NR with this model as their funding was not diversified sufficiently
aligned with a failure to realise that market conditions for mortgage backed securities (MBS) would
deteriorate in stressed markets. Between issuing a mortgage and securitising it, there will always be a
time lag and to cover that NR relied on wholesale interbank funding in the short dates (up to 3
months). This source quickly disappeared as banks pulled any limits. The building society had then to
go to their lender of last resort, the Bank of England, and with that news hitting the headlines, ordinary
depositors queued up outside branches to get their own money out. This was the first run on a UK
bank in 150 years. Eventually NR was taken over by the state. In the context of this case it s
interesting to note that the run was caused by what I would consider over transparency . The Bank of
England had a rule that obliged them to publish the names of institutions that used its liquidity support
facility and allied with a lack of satisfactory deposit insurance their depositors took their money and
ran. Maybe the rule is not so suitable in

Advantages And Disadvantages Of An Organization
Each person is unique and have different beliefs and lifestyles. It is very rare to find two individuals
who are exactly alike when referring to the way of thinking and interpreting many things. People may
come from the same background, but tend to have different perspectives about certain situations.
Culture is defined in many ways and can be defined differently in the workplace, in a family, or at a
restaurant. As stated before, people can obtain a certain culture. Different generations may inherit the
same culture, and an organization may have a certain culture they practice.
If everyone tend to think the same, will there be new discoveries and theories? If everyone was the
same, will there be less discrimination and judgement? These questions both emphasize the benefits of
an organization that may have members who live by the same culture and disadvantages when there
are various cultures in an organization. In this world today, people most likely experience these
advantages and disadvantages in an organization. People should be able to view the world through a
cultural lense, especially in the workplace. During the hiring process, Theobald seeks for students who

Unethical Animal Testing
Many people often oversee the effects of animal testing. This has been going on for decades and many
are unaware of the results and the damages animal testing can cause. Animals undergo a lot of stress
and pain when they are put through experimentations. Many have debated that it is unethical to test on
animals while others say it helps to protect the safety of humans. In my opinion, animal testing is cruel
and should be made illegal. Their lives are just as important as human lives and should not be treated
as experimental animals. The system of an animal differs from the human system, therefore even if a
tested product did not harm the animal, it may or may not be harmful to humans. Hence, our body
system reactions differ from the bodies of an animal. It has been scientifically proven that 90% of the
animals being tested in labs results in death while only a handful of animal experiments are successful.

The Federal Government Should Have Greater Authority On...
This paper will discuss the prevailing Canadian debate of whether the federal government should have
greater authority on administering health care. Essentially, Canada s health care program referred to as
Medicare, is administered by the provinces while regulated by the federal government through the
Canada Health Act of 1984. One side of the debate, using the political theory of pluralism, argues
against federal leadership and instead emphasizes for provincial authority on matters of health care
since Canada is inherently composed of individuals with differing interests and values. Through a
decentralized framework, each province will be able to implement efficient health services that will

The political elites also acknowledged that it would be in their best interests to respond to group
demands. Barker s second contention states that provinces can provide the best quality health care
according to their demographics and socioeconomic factors. For example, Saskatchewan primarily
utilizes its federal grants for a community based approach of providing health care such rehabilitation
services while Ontario primarily invests in effective hospital care. Through a pluralist approach,
Barker argues that various interest groups exist that want to play a role in the decision making of
national programs to meet their own needs and therefore diversities can be best accommodated when
provinces lead social programs.
However, an institutionalist approach can critique the pluralist contentions made by Barker. Regarding
his legal contention, it can be argued that the distribution of power on health care depicted in the
constitution is outdated since there were vast divisions between English and French physicians as well
as differing health and religious practices during the 1800s. Due to the divisions, it was resolved that
the provinces would administer public policies regarding

Mayan Ball Game Essay
Montaigne had very in depth opinions about the new world and how he felt simple and civilized
societies operated. Even though in his excerpt he defends cannibalism which would usually discredit
the writer, he still makes some very valid points. It is in fact barbaric to kill a living person, and to
make a mockery out of them by hanging is inhumane. Montaigne even goes as far as to call war the
human disease and believed it was more constant between the Europeans than it was the natives. One
thing that can be agreed upon is the savagery of a group of people that would sacrifice a living person.
In the Mayan ball game, anybody who lost the game which happened to be kings or high officials
most of the time, were killed and sacrificed to the Gods. The Mayan ball game was an opportunity for
the Mayans to show their loyalty to the gods by sacrificing captured kings, high lords, or losing
opponents. It was an alternative to war for cities nearby, for settling issues they had with each other.
There were always many spectators to watch this game. To have many people watch the game and
watch the losers get sacrificed to the gods, regardless of their beliefs is inhumane. To the Mayans, this
game was normal and necessary for survival but from the outside looking in, one might think their
behavior is barbaric. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Kant s Categorical Imperative Of The Modern Era
Emmanuel Kant was an influential philosopher and strong proponent of the modern era. Besides his
large contribution to epistemology and metaphysics, his work in ethics was just as substantial. Kant s
ethics came to propose an objective morality, where moral judgments is not only true according to a
person s subjective view. He believed the moral worth of an action is not determined by its
consequence but the motive behind it. Through Kant s ethics, he demonstrates this duty through his
unconditional moral principle, the categorical imperative. The categorical imperative expresses that
morality is not about the outcome (good or bad), but the right action regardless of the outcome. It is
the responsibility to do one s duty for its own sake and not in pursuit of one s own desire.
One formulation of Kant s categorical imperative instructs us to act only in such a way that I can also
will that my maxim should become a universal law. Before going into the formulation, a maxim for
Kant is just not a rule for how to act but a middle stage between experience and the categorical
imperative. Kant describes this as a subjective rule , that is, a rule that is deliberated at the subjective
level. Consider a case of human interaction, in which one has to decide his behavior in the form, X
does such an action to Y . We may ask the moral question should X do such an action to Y? According
to Kant, X response cannot derive from desire or pleasure but rather give a deliberate and

Analysis Of The Movie The Gift
While film is a visual medium, some of the understated elements of cinematic choices are often
overlooked. General audiences are attracted to films due to the choice of actors and a general interest
in the story, but the most complex mechanisms of successful films are rarely spoken of or noticed. The
choice of color scheme, set design, and props, are all various ways in which the director adds their
stamp of creative concept. When all of these components are blended, they create the mood, tone, and
style of the of movie. In this essay, three short films all featuring different locations, characters, and
themes are examined to try and understand why directors pick certain visual undertones and to decide
if they worked in favor or against the overall story. In doing so, this essay hopes to explore the many
ways in which aspiring creatives can add appealing visuals to their work to underline the main theme
and create a better understanding for their audience.
The first film, The Gift, is a quirky if not surreal look at love. Ms. Anderson, A woman in charge of
wrapping gifts in a store, is tasked with wrapping the gift of a local magician and customer, Mr.
Grimm. It is obvious she has feelings for him, and she believes the gift, a family heirloom necklace, is
for another woman. This leads to her spiral, coming to the realization that he does not share the same
feelings. In the end, however, as he leaves, she discovers that he has somehow magically placed the

Ancient Civilizations Of Mesopotamia And Mesopotamia
Sumerian (3500 2300BC) Babylonian (1792 1750 BC) both belong to civilizations of Mesopotamia,
but they existed different period. The ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia are the source of the
earliest surviving art; these civilizations were situated between the Tigris and the Euphrates Rivers.
Dating back to 3500 B.C.E., Mesopotamian art was intended to serve as a way to glorify powerful
rulers and their connection to divinity. Art was made from natural resources such as stone, shells,
alabaster and marble, and was often created as didactic pieces. No artist signatures can be found on
most of the work, because the pieces were meant to embody the subject matter, rather than the creator.
Popular items that typify this time period include cylindrical seals, steles, narrative relief sculptures,
and lavishly decorated tombs. More than 4,000 years ago the valleys of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers
began to teem with life first the Sumerian, then the Babylonian, Assyrian, Chaldean, and Persian
empires. Here too excavations have unearthed evidence of great skill and artistry. Examples of fine
works in marble, diorite, hammered gold, and lapis lazuliahve been found. Stone, wood, and metal
was imported. Sumerian art and architecture was ornate and complex primarily used for religious
purposes painting and sculpture the main median used. Of the many portraits produced in this area,
some of the best are those of Gudea, ruler of Lagash. Some of the portraits are in marble,

Women And Women During The French Revolution
During the French Revolution, namely 1789, men and women were both dealing with change in
government, society, and many different aspects of life. Two documents that represent the rights of
men and women are Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen and The Vindication of the
Rights of Woman. These two documents are similar in content because they describe how men and
women should be treated as equals in society. The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen
came first, and sparked the interest of reformers all around, leading to The Vindication of the Rights of
Woman. These two documents tell us that the French Revolution obviously had a divide within gender
and race. First, the Declaration of the Rights of Man and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen was technically the Government
of France. This document expressed the liberal and universal ideas of the Enlightenment (Perry, 110).
The idea and motivation of the declaration came partly from the ideas of the American Revolution and
from General Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson. This document was largely influenced by the ideas of
natural rights and altogether, the intended audience would be the citizens of France in which the
declaration and its contents were pertaining to. The articles in the document establish sovereignty
within the French people, and made apparent that everyone was a Frenchman, and equal (Sherman,
521). In return, the French people favored the declaration; however a good amount of the nobles and
king did not. As for the contents of the document, the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the
Citizen, they were basically a list of rights, set up just like the Bill of Rights. Here is a general
overview of the list of rights in the declaration: men are born and remain free; preservation of the
natural and imprescriptible rights of man; the nation is the source of all sovereignty, and no individual
can be entitled to any authority not derived from it; Political Liberty consists in the power of doing
whatever does not injure another; the law should prohibit only actions harmful to society; the law is an
expression of the will of the community; no man should be accused,

Sand Gazelle Research Paper
Invisible! Can you see that sand gazelle camouflaging in the shade? The cream like coat and white,
really help it look like a shadow. It really helps it blend in with the environment. Like the other
adaptations, this adaption also helps the Sand Gazelle survive in the desert. It gets protected from
predators who are out hunting for it and ready to pounce. There are many adaptations that allow the
Sand Gazelle to survive in the blazing heat of the Sahara Desert, that allow it to live, grow, and
reproduce. To start, one adaptation which supports the Sand Gazelle in surviving in the desert, is its
color. As I have mentioned, the color of the Sand Gazelle helps it blend into its surroundings. This
protects it from getting eaten by its enemies. The technique for camouflaging for any animal is its
color. A Sand Gazelle s creamy white coat of fur blend in with the sand and shade, which most of the
desert is covered in. This adaptation doesn t just help in blending in with its environment, it also helps
in reflecting the Sun s rays. When the Sun s rays get reflected, its body stays as cool as possible and
doesn t get dehydrated as much. In fact, the white layer of fur and nasal passage keeps on cooling the
blood, so it isn t too hot for it to survive. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These species of gazelles can live off the dew on leaves. They also get a supply of water from other
plants which it eats in its diet. The plants already have water stored in them, so when the sand gazelle
eats them, all of the water is going in its body. This adaptation enables this species to live in an area
with a shortage of water. One way the Sand Gazelle saves water and keeps hydrated is by shrinking its
heart and liver. When it does that, less oxygen is taken in, and so less water is lost. These techniques
help the Sand Gazelle adapt to the desert s climate, weather, and

Taliban Research Papers
Milestone #2: Terrorism relating to the world
Megan Wilton Penn State Harrisburg
The Taliban is an Afghani and Pakistani terrorist group. They are a large organization, with a religious
base. The group, like several other terrorist organizations, have extremist views in relation to Islam.
They operate primarily in the Middle East, but also operate elsewhere in the world. In this paper the
focus will be on the Taliban s relationship with the world outside of their comfort zone.
Background
The Taliban consists of mostly Sunni Muslim Pashtuns, the largest Afghan ethnic group, historically.
The Taliban occupied parts of central western Afghanistan through a significant amount of the south
and eastern border (Afsar, 2008). The core of the group ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In respect to the nature and motivation of their attacks the two fields are extremely closely related
which was seen in their attack on the University. Their political ideologies are interchangeable with
their religious ideologies they have the same ultimate goal. Although the Taliban can be classified as
both domestic and international terrorist, the majority of their actions are domestic terrorism where
they carry out attacks on their home region and their own religious affiliates. The Taliban often carries
out attacks on their own people. The Federal Bureau of Investigation identifies domestic terrorism
with the following three characteristics: involve acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or
state law; appear intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy
of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass
destruction, assassination or kidnapping; and occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction (FBI).
Although the Taliban has committed terrorist acts outside of their territory, the majority of their attacks
are on either their own soil or against their own

Examples Of Parallelism In Like Water For Chocolate
In the book Like Water For Chocolate the author addresses a family rooted in traditions from the past
and how that destroys the relationship they should have. Tita is an example of a character that is being
affected by family traditions. However, in the passage it shows what happens to Tita when she is
finally able to escape her mother s wrath. The author uses personification and parallelism to show that
Tita was trapped into doing what her mother said and now that she is free from her she puzzled about
what to do. The first example of how the author shows Tita as bring trapped is with the use of
parallelism. By using the parallelism it was able to create the effect that she is like a robot. At her
mother s, what she had to do with her hands

Typifies Vanity In Machiavelli s The Prince
Falstaff shows Hal the comic side of living and the vices that accompany it. In other words, he drags
Hal down to his immoral level. John Dover Wilson, wrote an essay called Fortunes of Falstaff, in
which states that Falstaff typifies Vanity in every sense of the word (134). Further suggesting that Hal
cannot help but be a part of this vanity, especially when the alternative is the court of his father, king
Henry IV. In essence the opposite world that of Falstaff s is the royal court of King Henry IV. This is a
place of nobility and noble thoughts, a place so different that even the language of the court demands a
certain air of dignity; making it a point that it s impossible for a reasonable man to have boozed and

Case Study Wilmar
As Asia s leading agribusiness group, Wilmar operated through a vertically integrated business model,
encompassing the entire value chain of agricultural commodity processing business. Through scale,
integration and logistics advantages, it was able to extract margins at each step of its value chain,
reaping operational synergies and cost efficiencies. Having significant manufacturing facilities and
extensive distribution networks in high growth Asian markets, it placed Wilmar in a good stead to
diversify into other agribusiness or products. Going forward, Wilmar should increase the status quo
with respect to its product diversification level. Predominantly focused on palm oil industry, it should
expand its business operations by diversifying into other businesses. A possible option is to expand
into sugar business and acquire Sucrogen, the largest producer of raw sugar in Australia. Having a

global biofuel industry. There was a global trend of replacing fossil fuels with biofuels, driving its
long term demand growth, which made the sugar industry attractive. Riding with biofuel demand, it
can leverage this growth potential by increasing its sugar production and ethanol sales. With an

When the mobile phone is expensive the full time employees can purchase the phone as partial
payment so that the monthly amount will be reduced. In that case the customers will search for more
details and will select the best mobile phones which meet their requirement. The part time employees
and self employed respondents are also using Samsung mobile phones due to their income level. The
reason for lower usage by the unemployed respondents and the students can be mainly due the
absence of permanent income level and the price of the mobile phone. When considering the above
facts it is clear that the price of the mobile phone and the income level of the customer heavily affect
the purchasing decision of the mobile phones. The age category of using the Samsung mobile phones
is important information when discussing the purchasing decision and the market share. It is normally
believed that the older generation is technology averse and they do not easily adapt to the
technological changes. Therefore it is important to know about the age of the Samsung mobile phone
users to identify whether they are expecting the technological change in the mobile phone. When the
elder generation adapt to a certain technology they are reluctant to change the technology as it takes
them more time to learn than the younger generation. However the younger

Because squared units are not intuitive, we square root the variance, known as the standard deviation.
Diversification and Variance Reduction
When uncertain numbers are averaged together, the distribution of the average goes up in the middle
and down on the ends, becoming more centralized. This centralizing of the distribution is the primary
manifestation of diversification.
The width or narrowness of a distribution defines the range of uncertainty of the number. The wider
the distribution, the greater the variance, standard deviation and uncertainty.
The Central Limit Theorem
If enough independent samples of almost any distribution are averaged together, then the resulting
distribution will be normal .
The Normal Distribution
The normal distribution is an idealization of the result of averaging a large number of identical,
independent random variables. They are centered at their mean or average. Their width is measured by
the standard deviation, or the square root of the variance.

through many horrific events. The Cuban Revolution, which began in the early 1950 s, was an
overthrow of a corrupt government. Throughout Fidel Castro s multiple attempts to improve the
horrific conditions of the Cuban population, the Revolution became a long and tragic journey
beginning with the 26th of July Movement, to The Bay of Pigs invasion, to The Cuban Missile Crisis.
In 1940 to 1944, communist Fulgencio Batista withheld power as the president of Cuba and then from
1952 to 1959, United States backed dictator until fleeing Cuba because of Fidel Castro s 26th of July
Movement. Socialist Fidel Castro governed the Republic of Cuba as Prime Minister from 1959 to
1976 and then as President from 1976 to 2008. Fidel Castro s intent was to provide Cuba with an
honest democratic government by diminishing the corrupt way in which the country was run, the large
role the United States played in the running of Cuba as well as the poor treatment the living conditions
of the lower class. On July 26th, 1953, Fidel Castro led one hundred and twenty nine men and two
women in a daring assault against the Moncada army Barracks in Santiago de Cuba to overthrow the
government of Fulgencio Batista. Fidel Castro s plan to overthrow the government of Fulgencio

  • 2. The Winding Stair And Other Poems As Professor Pethica points out, the volume The Winding Stair and Other Poems is extraordinary because its textual history is particularly elaborate, even by Yeats s standards. Although I would love to explore the relationship between different editions, as we did when we talked about different editions of Wilde Swans at Coole, the task is too huge to be tackled sufficiently in this paper. In order to preclude any ambiguity, I would like to clarify that whenever I use the title The Winding Stair and Other Poems in this paper, unless otherwise specified, I am referring to the last edition published in 1933. Since the early stage of Yeats s career, the poet has been concerned with mortality. The poet seems to suggest that art is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Losing all touch with the finer consciousness of the age it would be, not only irresponsible, but anemic (Foster, 441). In the poem Three movements, the poet observes that Shakespearean fish swam the sea, far away from land; / Romantic fish swam in nets coming to the hand; / What are all those fish that lie gasping on the strand? (Finneran, 240) Yeats is neither detached Shakespearean fish, nor credulous Romantic fish; he is the fish that lie gasping on the strand, and the volume The Winding Stair and Other Poems is his struggle with the crisis of his age, both the age of the poet (nearly 70 at the time) and the age of the world (1930s). We have talked a lot about Yeats s dialectical effort to transcend mortality and achieve immortality in his poetry. Such effort to transcend mortality presupposes the dichotomy between life and death. Indeed, in previous volumes, may concepts are contingent upon a symmetrically opposing idea: the symbol of the Mask presupposes the dichotomy between self and anti self, and many of Yeats s poems feature the dichotomy between female and male. However, in the volume The Winding Stair and Other Poems, Yeats points out a simple yet fundamental fact, that these dichotomies are all human constructs. In the poem Vacillation, the speaker solemnly observes that Between extremities / Man runs his course (Finneran, 250). The most important dichotomy that Yeats inspects in this volume is the one between life and death. The poet points ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Criticism And Imagery In Richard III, By William Shakespeare William Shakespeare s Richard III is an historical tragedy written in 1591. The play covers events in the latter years of the War of the Roses (1455 1485). That war a prolonged, intermittent conflict between the two noble houses of York and Lancaster; the play chronicles the bloody deeds and atrocities perpetrated by its central figure the murderous and tyrannical King Richard III. After a long war between the noble houses of York and Lancaster, England is at peace under the ruling of King Edward IV and the victorious family of York. But Edwards s younger brother, Richard Duke of Gloucester resents Edwards s power and the happiness of those around him. Malicious, power hungry and his bitterness towards his physical deformity (hunch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this metaphor, he compares conscience with a creature with many tongues. That his tongue has a different conscience but everything condemns himself. No one believes what Richard III says anymore, and even himself. The last imagery is, True hope is swift, and flies with swallow s wings. (Act 5 Scene 2) Richmond compares hope to a bird. Hope with good cause is swift; it flies as fast as a swallow. Hope that their hope would fly fast as like a swallow and it will come true. And it did come true. Richmond killed Richard III and became the king. Richard III opens in 1483 with the title character delivering one of Shakespeare s most famous soliloquies. The first thirteen lines establish the cheerful, optimistic mood in the kingdom now that Richard s brother, Edward IV, has reclaimed the throne and the War of the Roses, which began in 1455, appears to have ended. Richard sums up the situation in the first two lines of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

George Frederickson s article, The State of Social Equity in American Public Administration, analyzes the evolution of social equity in American public administration, outlines examples of the ever widening social equity gap, and charges public administrators to walk the talk about social equity. In his thesis statement, Frederickson argues that available data suggest that despite the long history of public administration and the enormous contribution it has made toward ensuring a more equitable society, the American society has become less equal in the social, economic, and political life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Frederickson aptly makes the connection between public administration and democracy and warns of the grave consequences of treating the issue of social equity, which is central to these tenets superficially. He warns that the foundation of democracy is threatened by a weak social equity regime. It is the point that has caught my attention. The author was able to draw a correlation between social equity and democracy. He argues, If disparities of participation and influence become further entrenched and if average citizens give up on democratic government unequal citizenship could take on a life of its own, weakening American democracy for a long time to come. With this assertion, the writer posits that societal inequality, due to unequal citizenship is a direct threat to the survival of America s democracy. The Strong Sense Of Motherhood, By Sylvia Plath The aim of this present paper is to give a detailed analysis of the psychological indication of a human mind before being a mother after pregnancy. The name Sylvia Plath, an American confessional poet, itself is the matter of great psycho as it has been discussed a lot since the past few decades. With this two poems foreshadowing the cult of the deep psychology of a girl before having a sense of motherhood completely, Plath exaggerates the notion of the strong sense of motherhood as well as her own feeling over the unborn being growing up gradually in herself. A deep psychology and strong sense of motherhood completely grasps over her brain made her able to pen the theme of her strong feeling over the unborn. And this kind of physical as well ... In the poem Metaphors Plath compared herself to a riddle in nine syllables implying the long nine months of pregnancy before child birth and also intensifies the pang and suffering of carrying of a baby in her womb. The strong depiction of the figurative use of the melon skillfully corroborates the two sides of the prototype of a female character one is of woman and the another is of an unborn baby that is resembled with fine timbers . Kate Moses concludes that in the poem s culminating lines Plath s narrator becomes completely and willingly effaced allowing her child full ownership. • 6. Functionalism And The Inverted Spectrum Imagine walking past a garden with an assortment of flowers. Now close your eyes and take in each distinguishing familiar smell. As you take a whiff you smell the differences between the roses, lilies, and even tulips. We can tell the sound of a drum from that of a gong; the touch of cool, smooth marble as we run our fingers over it distinctively feeling the difference from that of sandpaper. Our everyday lives are continuous experiences of sensations. These sensations have characteristic qualitative features, which are called phenomenal , phenomenological or sensory qualities. In philosophical terms these sensations can be referred to as qualia, which are defined as properties of experiences that type them in phenomenological respects . The understanding on the knowledge of other minds has provided a puzzle known as the inverted spectrum. This possibility has emerged as an important challenge to functionalist accounts of qualia. Functionalism is committed to defining mental states in terms of their cause and effects . By identifying sensory events with casual roles, however, functionalism appears to be missing qualitative aspects all together. The topic of spectrum inversion has often been raised as a contradiction to functionalism, as well as other materialist theories about consciousness. These negates to functionalism show that even when all the relevant physical facts are held constant, the facts about qualia can still vary, hence that the phenomenal must be over ... American Conservatism Essay American Conservatism Beginning with Nixon and continuing with Reagan after the radical changes of American culture in the sixties and seventies, Americans would begin to shift towards more conservative ideas unsure of the rapid radical change. In the 1994 mid term elections, the American people would elect a congress of mostly conservatives for the first time in nearly 50 years. At the core of this success would be the Contract with America. A set of promises and goals devised by conservative congressional representative Newt Gingrich. Historian Russell Kirk believes there are six basic tenets of all conservatism. To begin conservatives believe in a transcendent order or body of natural law, which rules society as well as conscience. Political problems at their roots are religious and or moral problems (9). The ideal that religion and morality can have influence over political and social problems is widely seen in the United States. The Republicans are often the choice of people with conservative Christian ideology. Another important tenet of conservatism is a respect for the proliferating variety of human existence, as opposed to the uniformity aims of most radical systems. Conviction that civilized society requires orders and classes (Kirk 9). This is reflected in American conservatism belief that economic leveling in inherently wrong. In the belief that economic leveling is wrong, conservatives also believe strongly in protecting the rights of private property owners. In addition, conservatives have a recognition that changes may not be salutary reform. Belief that custom and convention are checks on radical change that could be harmful to society (Kirk 8). These tenets are seen in American conservatism. In the fact that American conservative parties have always been opposed to radical reform, such was the case when Franklin D. Roosevelt proposed and enacted sweeping government intervention in his New Deal legislation. In order to better understand conservatism one must consider ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This story was a warming story of a girl s love for her stuffed bear that I enjoyed as a child. In a small department store there was a stuffed bear named Corduroy, who was longing for an owner to love him and care for him. Unfortunately, Corduroy was missing a button on his overalls, leading his thoughts that nobody wanted take him home. The fact that the little girl still wanted to take Corduroy home and fix his overalls is a great example of this point. God will always be there for you when you struggle. The concepts in this book are fantastic points to remember throughout everyone s life and my own. These concepts will always remind me that whenever I do mess up or do something wrong that God will always care for me. Consequently, I am reminded that this story shows how God will always love me no matter what mistakes I make in life. Thus, the whole story reminds me that I am important and loved by God. This story was a fantastic piece of work by Don Freeman, which I think will be a classic children s book for ages. I plan on sharing it with my children to show them that I love them and that God loves them. Based on a ten year budget originating from penalty taxes collected from assuming all of the Americans affected earn at or below $20,000 per year, if each household affected pays the minimum fine of $695 multiplied by 6 million that would equal $4.17 Billion towards funding in one years time. It was thought that children s and teens should not be exposed to fictional stories. Then later down the years, YA Literature developed into something else in the 1960s. According to Ashley Strickland, a reporter for CNN, the term young adult was coined by Young Adult Library Services Association during the 1960s to represent the 12 18 age range . YA Literature is targeted at teens around this age. Also, in regards to this article, these books were single problem novels and teens were becoming bored. The IRA s reputation was severely damaged in the summer of 1969, because it had not been able to protect the Catholics. Slogans appeared on the walls in Belfast: IRA I Ran Away. There were some members of the IRA who felt that the policy of uniting Ireland had to be followed and that if violence had to be used to achieve that aim, then violence would be used. Some IRA members wished to re unite Ireland by peaceful means. A split occurred in the IRA, and those who embarked on a policy of violence called themselves the Provisional IRA . • 16. What Is Instruction Is Through Personal Learning... CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION Introduction The goal of any educator is to meet students where they are and help them grow academically. Since students do not all learn in the same manner, differentiated instruction is needed to meet the diverse needs of students today. One way to differentiate instruction is through personal learning environments (PLEs). PLEs are platforms that help learners manage and take control of their learning; they are a combination of tools, communities, and services that help learners direct their own learning and reach educational goals. PLEs help students develop autonomy and it prepares them for lifelong learning. Implementing PLEs in a public school could help to close gaps between low performing students ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... PLEs employ different tools that help manage learning. For example, portfolios or e portfolios allows learners to house completed work and share that work with teachers as needed. Collaboration tools allow learners to connect with one another on social networking sites in order to work together to complete projects and other assignments. Managing and planning tools allow learners to create to do lists set goals. Journals, such as blogs, help learners record and reflect on their work. Last, a content repository affords students the opportunity to keep videos, websites, and/or shared files. These different tools are not independent of each other; they may be intertwined and interchangeable. Learners use PLEs that are most beneficial to them and at times that are most conducive for their schedule. In order for PLEs to be effective, educators must help learners develop the skills to be an autonomous learner. Learning management systems traditionally provide structures to guide online learners to achieve their learning goals (Tu, Sujo Montes, Yen, Chan, Blocher, 2012, p. 13). Technologies, such as Web 2.0, allow learners to create, share, and organize PLEs in open network environments. In addition, this platform allows students to collaborate and engage in social networking. It used to be that brick and mortar was the only way to open and run a business. However, the internet has changed all of that now businesses can use technology to reach customers and other businesses all over the world. This has caused a great surge in the world wide economy. In 2003 Business to Business (B2B) commerce tipped the scales at $1.41 Trillion. This is in comparison to Business to Consumer (B2C) that was $90.1 Billion (Naraine, R.2003). All of these purchases need to get transported and that is where businesses supply chains come in play. Contrary to popular belief the supply chains of B2B and B2C ... These services can/ do include online banking, travel services, online auctions, health information, real estate as well as some less reputable sites (Patton, S., 2001). B2B vs. B2C Supply Chain The B2B and B2C supply chains might appear to be similar however, that assumption can not be further from the truth. The main difference between the two is the amount of channels a product must flow through before reaching the end user. With B2B there are less total channels however they are greater in size when to compared to the greater amount of smaller channels with B2C. (Marketing Profs, 2005) For example: A new car manufacturer is looking for tires to put on their new line of cars. They would deal directly with a tire manufacturer to get their product. The channels would simply be from the car manufacturer tire manufacturer raw supplies dealers. Now let s look at an individual looking to book a flight and hotel in Las Vegas. The chain would be as follows, individual online store airline airline staff hotel hotel staff. The next difference comes with technology and that is integration, B2B needs to be integrated to their business partners software for smooth resupply , billing, etc. This is an ... The Parti Quebecois has implemented their own charter called Bill 60 in order amend the current Canada Charter of Rights and Freedoms which is entrenched in the Constitution of Canada. If this proposed bill were to be passed, it will cause many problems amongst the citizens of Quebec in terms of diversity as it will be banning some of the most important guaranteed rights stated in the Constitution: Freedom of expression and freedom of religion. Although there are positives to a secular state, there are also a few negatives if you were to look closely. Citizens moved to places like Canada to practice their freedom, not to have them taken away. Taking away these rights could start separatist groups and maybe even start wars within the province of Quebec. The reason why this bill is being proposed it that they Parti Quebecois would like to see more equality between men and women (cbc.ca). There really is no reason for this bill to be passed as it shows how weak Quebec is mainly because they are afraid of losing their own culture. The Quebec government has proposed a secular charter, which has sparked another debate from local, provincial and federal politicians. If passed, public sector employees such as teachers, police officers, doctors, and even politicians will be banned from wearing any religious symbol. • 19. Shared Vision And Components Of Community Policing A shared vision is considered a partnership between individuals or groups who seek to accomplish a common goal. It involves commitment and contributions from each group. Many shared visions are created to change a relational divide that sometimes occurs between groups and communities. For example, an us vs them type of environment will certainly divide groups and communities and cause havoc. There is no sense of trust or unity between the two and therefore, a shared vision is necessary to accomplish the developing of mutual trust and unity. That is a shared vision that anyone would want to have and do whatever it takes to work towards. In conclusion, a shared vision is necessary to change an unwanted negative atmosphere between two groups or communities. N,N dimethyltryptamine (DMT) is an illegal, psychedelic tryptamine compound found in the human body and at least 60 species of plants worldwide. Because of this, communication and information flow is difficult and for each and every thing supervisor has to walk around the line frequently. In case of new layout (cellular layout) the information flow is effective and quick. Because, the group of people who are in the same cell, works in compact area where each operator is in direct contact with other operator of the cell and they know each other s job inside the cell. This makes information flow fast and accurate. Whereas this cannot be achieved in long assembly line; where one operator is in contact with only two operators (one operator before and one operator after his operation) so neither he can give any suggestion nor he knows the issues of other operation i.e. workers are not participating in each other s work, rather working independently. 10.5 COMPARISON OF REWORK LEVEL The rework level has been decreased by 80% over existing trends. The narrator of the excerpt, Victor Frankenstein, employs naturalistic imagery, abstract diction, and cumulative sentences to convey his attitude that nature is rejuvenating and restoring. The narrator utilizes naturalistic imagery to illustrate his attitude towards nature. As Frankenstein is travelling through the mountains he describes the scene around him. He describes the vast mountains and icy wall of the glacier, which creates the image of the solemn silence of nature. That image provokes the feeling of reverence and awe for nature because in silence the narrator can take in all the sounds and beauty of what is around him. Frankenstein then goes on to say how these scenes gave him the greatest consolation, which reveals his attitude towards nature and how he believes it is rejuvenating because it is lifting his spirits and comforting him when it is implied he is upset over something. There was an inherent liquidity risk run by NR with this model as their funding was not diversified sufficiently aligned with a failure to realise that market conditions for mortgage backed securities (MBS) would deteriorate in stressed markets. Between issuing a mortgage and securitising it, there will always be a time lag and to cover that NR relied on wholesale interbank funding in the short dates (up to 3 months). • 34. The Federal Government Should Have Greater Authority On... This paper will discuss the prevailing Canadian debate of whether the federal government should have greater authority on administering health care. Essentially, Canada s health care program referred to as Medicare, is administered by the provinces while regulated by the federal government through the Canada Health Act of 1984. One side of the debate, using the political theory of pluralism, argues against federal leadership and instead emphasizes for provincial authority on matters of health care since Canada is inherently composed of individuals with differing interests and values. Through a decentralized framework, each province will be able to implement efficient health services that will meet the demands of its citizens. Their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The political elites also acknowledged that it would be in their best interests to respond to group demands. Barker s second contention states that provinces can provide the best quality health care according to their demographics and socioeconomic factors. For example, Saskatchewan primarily utilizes its federal grants for a community based approach of providing health care such rehabilitation services while Ontario primarily invests in effective hospital care. Through a pluralist approach, Barker argues that various interest groups exist that want to play a role in the decision making of national programs to meet their own needs and therefore diversities can be best accommodated when provinces lead social programs. However, an institutionalist approach can critique the pluralist contentions made by Barker. Regarding his legal contention, it can be argued that the distribution of power on health care depicted in the constitution is outdated since there were vast divisions between English and French physicians as well as differing health and religious practices during the 1800s. Due to the divisions, it was resolved that the provinces would administer public policies regarding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Mayan Ball Game Essay Montaigne had very in depth opinions about the new world and how he felt simple and civilized societies operated. Even though in his excerpt he defends cannibalism which would usually discredit the writer, he still makes some very valid points. It is in fact barbaric to kill a living person, and to make a mockery out of them by hanging is inhumane. Montaigne even goes as far as to call war the human disease and believed it was more constant between the Europeans than it was the natives. One thing that can be agreed upon is the savagery of a group of people that would sacrifice a living person. In the Mayan ball game, anybody who lost the game which happened to be kings or high officials most of the time, were killed and sacrificed to the Gods. The Mayan ball game was an opportunity for the Mayans to show their loyalty to the gods by sacrificing captured kings, high lords, or losing opponents. It was an alternative to war for cities nearby, for settling issues they had with each other. There were always many spectators to watch this game. To have many people watch the game and watch the losers get sacrificed to the gods, regardless of their beliefs is inhumane. To the Mayans, this game was normal and necessary for survival but from the outside looking in, one might think their behavior is barbaric. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 36. Kant s Categorical Imperative Of The Modern Era Emmanuel Kant was an influential philosopher and strong proponent of the modern era. Besides his large contribution to epistemology and metaphysics, his work in ethics was just as substantial. Kant s ethics came to propose an objective morality, where moral judgments is not only true according to a person s subjective view. He believed the moral worth of an action is not determined by its consequence but the motive behind it. Through Kant s ethics, he demonstrates this duty through his unconditional moral principle, the categorical imperative. The categorical imperative expresses that morality is not about the outcome (good or bad), but the right action regardless of the outcome. It is the responsibility to do one s duty for its own sake and not in pursuit of one s own desire. One formulation of Kant s categorical imperative instructs us to act only in such a way that I can also will that my maxim should become a universal law. Before going into the formulation, a maxim for Kant is just not a rule for how to act but a middle stage between experience and the categorical imperative. Kant describes this as a subjective rule , that is, a rule that is deliberated at the subjective level. Consider a case of human interaction, in which one has to decide his behavior in the form, X does such an action to Y . We may ask the moral question should X do such an action to Y? According to Kant, X response cannot derive from desire or pleasure but rather give a deliberate and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Analysis Of The Movie The Gift While film is a visual medium, some of the understated elements of cinematic choices are often overlooked. General audiences are attracted to films due to the choice of actors and a general interest in the story, but the most complex mechanisms of successful films are rarely spoken of or noticed. The choice of color scheme, set design, and props, are all various ways in which the director adds their stamp of creative concept. When all of these components are blended, they create the mood, tone, and style of the of movie. In this essay, three short films all featuring different locations, characters, and themes are examined to try and understand why directors pick certain visual undertones and to decide if they worked in favor or against the overall story. In doing so, this essay hopes to explore the many ways in which aspiring creatives can add appealing visuals to their work to underline the main theme and create a better understanding for their audience. The first film, The Gift, is a quirky if not surreal look at love. Ms. Anderson, A woman in charge of wrapping gifts in a store, is tasked with wrapping the gift of a local magician and customer, Mr. Grimm. It is obvious she has feelings for him, and she believes the gift, a family heirloom necklace, is for another woman. This leads to her spiral, coming to the realization that he does not share the same feelings. In the end, however, as he leaves, she discovers that he has somehow magically placed the necklace on her, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia are the source of the earliest surviving art; these civilizations were situated between the Tigris and the Euphrates Rivers. This document was largely influenced by the ideas of natural rights and altogether, the intended audience would be the citizens of France in which the declaration and its contents were pertaining to. The articles in the document establish sovereignty within the French people, and made apparent that everyone was a Frenchman, and equal (Sherman, 521).
