This study investigates the prevalence of hypochromic microcytic anemia among hospitalized patients in the hematology-oncology department of Donka National Hospital, revealing a prevalence of 57.02% with the primary etiologies being iron deficiency anemia (50.77%) and inflammatory syndrome (43.08%). The findings indicate that malaria was the most common associated pathology, with the majority of affected patients being young adults and a significant female predominance observed. The study highlights the importance of addressing anemia as a public health issue, particularly in developing countries.
