3. About the UN:
• The UN is an intergovernmental organization was establish 24 Oct 1945 to promote international co-
operation.
• The organization was created following the Second World War to prevent another such conflict.
• There are now 193 members from different regions and countries.
• The UN headquarter is in Manhattan, New York city, USA.
• The UN work in affiliation with Six official languages: English, French, Russia, Spanish, Chinese and
Arabic.
5. Objectives of UN:
• Maintaining international peace and security.
• Promoting human rights.
• Fostering social and economic development.
• Developing friendly international relations among world nation.
• Providing humanitarian aid in case of famine, natural disaster and armed conflict.
• Solving international problems of any nature {economic, culture, social and etc}.
6. Principles of UN:
• All member states have sovereign equality.
• Countries must try to settle their difference by peaceful means.
• Countries must avoid using force or threatening to use force.
• The UN may not interface in domestic affairs of any country.
• Countries should try to assist the United Nations.

Six organs of the UN.
1. The general assembly.
2. The secretariat.

8. The general assembly:
• Assessing member countries and deciding on the
budget.
• The only organ where every member state is
represented.
• Consist of committee.
• Convenes annually in September, specially session can
be held.
• Voting on important question or recommendation on
peace and security, budgeting concern, election,
suspension or expulsion of members and etc.
9. The secretariat:
• It includes an international staff working in duty stations
around the world.
• Primarily has an administrative function.
• The secretary general hold office for five year per term.

10. The security council:
UN’s most powerful organ.
It deals with threats to international peace and
security.
It has 15 members, 5 of which are permanent like
USA, China, Russia, British and France.
Permanent members have veto power when the
council decide on important issues.
it’s power include the establishment of
peacekeeping operations. The establishment of
international sanction and the authorized of military
action through security council resolution.
11. The international court of justice:
• The based in the Hague Netherland.
• It consists of 15 judges elected by the general assembly
and security council.
• It applies international law.
• It main functions are to settle legal argument submitted to
it by states or country and to provide advisory opinion on
legal questions submitted to it.
• No appeals can be made by parties to its judgment.
12. The economic and social council:
• The ECASOC coordinates the economic and social work of the
United Nation and the specialized agencies and institutions.
• The ECASOC may make or initiate studies and report with
respect to international economic, social, culture, educational,
health and related matter and may make recommendation to
any such matters to the General Assembly to members of UN
and to specialized.
• The work of the council is guided by an issue based approach.
13. The trusteeship council:
• It is establish to ensure that trust territories were
administered in the best interest of their resident and
an international peace and security.
• It authorized to examine and discuss reports from the
administering authority on the political, economic,
social and educational advancement of the peoples of
trust.

UNDP will also encourage government to top on knowledge from institution states and country.
UNDP will work closely with nation and international volunteers in the implementation of projects.
2: UNFAO: As a knowledge of organization FAO creates and shares critical information about food –
agriculture -- livestock and natural resources in the form of public goods.
3: UNILO: International Labor Organization brings together the government and employees and workers in
common action to improve social protection and conditions of life.
4: UNIOM: IOM is committed that help to human migration.
5: UNAMA: United Nation Assistance Mission Afghanistan has political mission to proceed and assist the
people of Afghanistan in laying the foundation for sustain in peace and development in the country.
17. 6: UNEP: The UNEP mission is provide leadership and courage the peoples for caring the
environment – inspiring – planet – green place and etc.
7: UNESCO: The main objective of UNESCO is to contribute to peace and security in country by
collaboration among nations through education – culture – communication and etc.
8: UN-HABITAT: (United Nation Centre For Human Settlement) mission is to promote socially and
environmentally sustainable and achievement of proper shelter for all.
9: UNHCR: it provides international protection and seek durable solution for refugee .
10: UNICEF: It allocated the guarantee the rights of all children to survival – development – protection
and participated.
11: UNWHO: The biggest aid of UNWHO is vaccinate of polio in Afghanistan.
