North Tower Of The World Trade Center
On September 11, 2001, at 8:45 AM, Eastern Time, American Airlines flight 111, headed from Boston
smashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York. An hour later, a second plane
crashed into the south tower at 550 miles an hour. The south tower only lasted 56 minutes, collapsing
straight down, killing thousands of people, and creating a dust cloud that sent people scurrying for
cover in the streets below. The north tower didn t last much longer, also collapsing straight down,
setting surrounding buildings ablaze with it. A third plane hit the pentagon, and a fourth plane,
destined for the white house, was retaken by passengers and crashed in a field in northern
Pennsylvania. Over 3,000 people lost their lives in a single day, making the 9/11 attacks the most
deadly terrorist action in history. America, needless to say, was hurt, and enraged. On September 20,
2001, President George W. Bush declared war on terrorism in a speech to congress, saying, after
listing demands to the Taliban, If you do not hand over the terrorists, you will share in their fate. This
began a decades long fight against terrorism in the Middle East. Since 2001, Al Qaeda, the terrorist
group who carried out the 9/11 attacks has been all but vanquished. However, Al Qaeda was by no
means alone in its extremist views of Islam. Since then, other groups have risen. The most notable of
these has risen quite recently, coming to America s attention in the past 2 years. While the demands

Analyzing Bloch s Painting
Bloch uses both analogous and complementary colors in the artwork to convey a message to make the
artwork standout. The artwork uses analogous colors to a calming view to the artwork and to
emphasize the drowsiness of the passengers. The black color of the man s coat is the same as the color
of the woman headwear sitting right next to him. The dark black of the man s coat in headwear are
analogous to the dark shade of green use as the color of the chairs. The dark black and green color is
analogous to the window s color, as the windows are very dark showing that it is dark outside. The
man sitting on the chair on the left is wearing a brown coat which is analogous in color to his skin
color. The painting also uses complementary colors to make the painting stand out. The arm board of
the chair is a red color which is complementary to the dark blue green chair. The ... Show more

The faces of the people are giving the light in the picture and are giving the focal point of the image.
This draws the viewers attention to the face of the two men and the woman as their faces show how
tired they are. The man on the left of the painting has is eyes closed and appears to be sleeping. The
woman has her eyes gently shut and appears to be falling asleep. The man in the middle eyes are open,
but his eyes have bags underneath and his face shows that he is very tired. The background of the
image is shaded out. Nothing can be seen outside the window, because whatever is outside is not
important for the message of the painting. However, the darkness of the window makes it seem like it
is night or late evening which fits into the story the artist is showing. This will make the travelers
seem as if they have either been traveling for a long time, or that the two men are returning from
work. The light and darkness of the artwork shows what is important and how the long day has made
the people in the painting

Numericus Sphaericus Essay
Lysinibacillus sphaericus (formerly Bacillus sphaericus) has been used as an alternative strategy to
control mosquito s population because it is harmless to humans and other non target organisms.
Extensive studies have demonstrated the larvicidal activity of the binary toxin, which is the core of the
bacterium s toxicity. Binary toxin is produces as parasporal crystals during sporulation, and
specifically binds to a single class of receptors, α glucosidases, in larvae midgut. Because L.
sphaericus toxicity is based on only one kind of toxin, high level resistance against the bacterium was
observed in the field [1]. One of approaches to manage binary toxin resistance is the utilization of
binary toxin in combination with other mosquitocidal toxins, among those are toxins from Bacillus
thuringiensis, and from B. sphaericus itself. Beside the spore associated binary toxin crystals, B.
sphaericus also produces soluble mosquitocidal toxins Mtx1, Mtx2 and Mtx3 during vegetative
growth, whose applications have not been as thoroughly explored [1]. ... Show more content on

In addition, Mtx2 shares homology with epsilon toxin from Clostridium, suggests its mode of action
as pore forming toxin [2]. The mtx2 gene encodes a 31.8 kDa protein which is moderately toxic to

position 224 where lysine and threonine renders toxicity towards Culex and Aedes larvae, respectively

required for full toxicity and the C terminus is important for folding and toxicity of the Mtx2

How Did England Lose Colonial America
In the early American days, America was mostly controlled by English and French settlers. They
fought for land near the fertile Ohio River Valley, both claiming to own the land. The strive to fully
own this land led to the French and Indian war in 1754. The French fought with the Native Americans
against England and its colonies. In 1763, the war finally ended with the surrender at Montreal and the
Treaty of Paris. England had won the war, but at a certain price. Eventually, through a chain of events,
England lost rebellious America because of this war. After the French and Indian war, England needed
to pay off a large war debt. They decided to abuse their power in eastern America to pay off the debt.
They taxed basic items such as paper

An Organization s Future Success
An organization s future success depends on its own internal conditions as well as external conditions.
Companies need to identify its strength to remain profitable and its weaknesses for a competitive
advantage. An internal analysis focuses on factors that give an organization certain advantages and
disadvantages in meeting the needs and creating value through competitive advantage and core
competence, value chain and financial analysis. Facebook generates a significant amount of its
revenue from advertising and from fees associated with their payments infrastructure that enables
users of Facebook to purchase virtual and digital content from developers. Facebook s has a Market
Capital of $240 billion and an Enterprise Value of $234 billion. Key financial statistics from the
company s 2014 annual 10 K report shows recorded revenue of $12.47 billion, income from
operations of $4.99 billion, and net income of $2.94 billion. Facebook operates in a world of
innovative competition, global political focus, shifts towards smaller screen devices, growth in global
markets for online advertising, virtual goods, social commerce, and a wealth of opportunities. As the
industry continued to grow and develop, U.S. social games players had all eyes on Asia where

Inequality Vs Economic Inequality
To begin with, all men are not created equal, they live different lives and posses different abilities.
Although some people possess greater talents than others, no person is better than any other person;
such as a celebrity or a homeless person. People who possess great talents that are useful to society are
often accepted and more recognized, but then bring down those who are different as in color or sex so
that they may not practice their skills.
First of all, although the U.S. Constitution proffers equal rights to all, money is the source of power.
Consequently, when a person owns more money and they have skills that others don t, they usually
come on top begetting power and great influence in the world. Although there are many different
branches of inequality, two inequalities focused in this paragraph are social inequality and economic
inequality; which are closely related to one another. Furthermore economic inequality is the difference
found in various measures of economic well being among individuals in a group, among groups in a
population, or among countries. To put it simply, economic inequality is the difference in wealth of the
people and of the world. Also, social inequality is the existence of unequal opportunities and rewards
given for different social positions or statuses within a group of society, meaning those with power
and money are open to paths with more opportunities and rewards while others are only given so
much opportunity, but no person should

The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari Essay
Around the premonition of the rising of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party, two German World War I
veterans named Hans Janowitz and Carl Mayer wrote the script for the German silent film, The
Cabinet of Dr. Caligari . Based on experience from their time in the German military, they wrote the
script based on the mistrust of authority while with the military in World War I. The plot tells the story
of a crazy hypnotist, Dr. Caligari, who hypnotizes and uses a somnambulist, Cesare, to commit
murders. Dr. Caligari represented the murderous authority that the German war government and
Cesare is symbolic of the common man, who is conditioned to kill. Siegfried Kracauer, the author of

Aboriginal Women are Oppressed in Society Essay
Throughout history, women have been the victims of oppression in society. In specific, Aboriginal
women have suffered through racism, sexism, domestic violence, and over representation. Through
the implementation of the Indian Act, Aboriginal women have been forced to abandon their culture in
order to assimilate into Canadian society. The effects of colonization has changed the way Aboriginal
women are treated; emotionally and physically, and therefore are the source of oppression today.
The Indian Act was created under the provisions section 91 of the Constitution Act of 1867 (Moss,
1990). The act was implemented to define who an Indian is and the rights that come with the title.
These rights pertain to status, bands and reserves for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Treaty benefits, health, rights to living on the reserve and property are forfeited as a result of losing
Indian status. This also happens when an Indian women gets married to another Indian man. She loses
her rights to her own band, and has to become a member of her husband s band. Ultimately, if the
women becomes widowed or abandoned then she loses all status of being an Indian all together. On
the other hand, men can marry a non status woman and all of his rights would be kept. With strides of
equality throughout history, it takes a step back when Aboriginal women are entirely dependent of
their husband. Several cases were took to court in the 1970 s, but not until 1980 is when there was a
connection found between the United Nations Human Rights Committee and the Canadian Human
Rights Act. With this section in direct violation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political
Rights, the removal of a woman s Indian status while marrying a non Indian man was done and Bill C
31 was passed so victims of the Indian Act can be reimbursed. However, Bill C 31 is still under
scrutiny because those who have their status reinstated to them can only pass it on for one generation.
This is a violation under Section 15 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms (Payne, 1992). The Indian
Act is a controversial piece of legislation that was passed in 1876. It has been amended throughout the
times, but the core concept of the Indian Act still

Construction Contract Essay
Assignment 1. For the following types of undertakings, which contract modes are most appropriate?
Be prepared to explain the rationale behind your choice. We want to order a pencil manufacturer to
produce 20,000 pencils for us When ordering a set number of items from a manufacturer who is in the
business of making that product and will not have to engage in any research, development, or real
custom work, the standard contract would be a fixed price contract . This scenario describes a simple
bulk order of an item. Therefore, in this situation, the most appropriate contract mode is the fixed price
contract. This allows the company to receive a number of bids for the 20,000 pencil contract and
compare the costs in those bids. It also does not put the seller at tremendous risk because they do not
face tremendous variation in the costs of their supplies for manufacturers. Also, as the purchaser fixed
price contracts are good for purchasers, because the sellers bear most of the risk of the contract. We
want to have a 300 meter bridge built to span a local river When engaging in a construction contract,
time is of the essence and running over time projections can cause literally millions of dollars in
additional non contract costs. Therefore, construction contracts that can provide incentives to complete
the project on time or early are beneficial because they effectively penalized contractors who fail to
deliver on time performance. With a CPIF contract, the

Examples Of Irony In The Canterbury Tales
In The Canterbury Tales there are many examples of irony and poetic justice. There is one tale in
particular that has a great example of irony. The pardoner tale in the book The Canterbury Tales shows
the ironic greed of the pardoner. The pardoner job is to sell pardons which are basically go to heaven
free cards. So that already starts to show greed, but most of his greed comes from him selling fake
artifacts. In his prologue it even shows that he would not preach unless he was paid to do so, and if he
was paid he would preach about not being greedy it shows this on line 35 36 as long as I can preach

1. The place is at City of Whittier, the location is 13230 Penn Street Whittier, CA 90602, and the date I
went to go visit was Thursday August 6. It was my first time attending a local governmental meeting.
The meeting that was held was titled as The Parking and Transportation Commission. I was glad the
topic was on this because I felt keeping our society safe is the most important. So the City Council
would do its best to make sure that there would not be hassle while driving on the road way. They try
their best to prevent traffic and parking problems. Obviously there is still going to be traffic on the
freeways, but they try their best to cause fewer problems for people in the society. The members that
were in the meeting would give suggestions or feedback, and recommendations to other board
members. Everyone had their own point of view about the Parking and Transportation issue. The
Directive was taking a look at the transportation ecological impact reports, future transportation
expansion strategies, and school crossing guard sites. I feel like their thoughts were all good, however
in my opinion it is not a good idea to use all those recommendations regarding about the issue. The
reason for this is because then it would be too costly. I feel that it would be best to just take the best
recommendation and then use that as a strategy for traffic flow. In addition, I like the idea of how they
need of school crossing guard places is important, because sometimes children do

Why Seat Belts Should Have Seatbelts
Seat belts should be required on school buses for a lot of foreseen reasons. Seatbelts can make school
buses so much safer in so many different ways. One reason why seat belts should be required on
school buses is that it will save students lives. According to an article released by the Today show
About 440,000 school buses carry 24 million kids each and every day during the school year, which
can be dangerous if the bus gets in a crash. Undoubtedly, school buses should be required to have seat
belts if 24 million kids ride school buses each day. Furthermore, another reason is it will get students
to stay seated on the school buses . When students do not stay seated on the bus and they are in
awkward positions and in the aisle they are more prone to facing severe injuries, maybe even, death .
Adding on, if students have seatbelts on, they will have to sit down because they can stand up with a
seatbelt on. Going even further, cameras can be on school buses just like the cameras on the school
buses in Glenwood Community School District. This will give a higher chance of students getting
punished and it can even result in a suspension off the school bus as little as 3 days and as long as the

The reason why some say this is an example is because, students won t be able to take off their

into a wreck because when the police and the investigation team comes out and investigates the crash
they can say, this person was in an awkward position. Or even, perhaps, they can say they weren t
wearing a seatbelt and the student can get into a lot of trouble because the police have that power. That
s why one of many reasons some say, seatbelts should be required on school

The Anglo Saxon Era Of Rich History And Reflected Literature
The Anglo Saxon Era of Rich History and Reflected Literature
The Anglo Saxon Period began in 449 and ended in 1066 AD. This was a time of Viking conquering
other nations, patriotism, and Pagan to Christian religious conversion. There are only few recorded
authors of this era as a result of literary works such as Beowulf, Wife s Lament, and The Seafarer
being passed down orally through generations of time. The literature serves as a reflection of this
ancient time rather than having an impact on this time period. This was a period of great conquering,
pride and honor, and Christian expansion with recorded literature that exaggerated and symbolized
what was occurring.

The religious transformation was a slow but progressive growth. It is definitely certain that the
characters of these oral stories were exaggerated or even make believe and as a matter of fact after
much studies of the Roman Empire, there has even been controversy over King Arthur s existence.
(Wood 39) The question is, what happened in Britain after the fall of the Roman Empire? Bound up
with that, there is a second question: did there exist at this time a war leader called Arthur? (Wood,
39). This shows that not only were the obviously exaggerated heroic characters fake but also some of
the seemingly realistic characters were as well. This indicates that these stories were definitely
exaggerated for entertainment purposes, but at the same time, used to describe the battles, the honor
and events that happened at this time. There are three main literary works of this time period:
Beowulf, Wife s Lament, and The Seafarer. Each literary work has unique symbolism and can be
analyzed and interpreted to show what they represent. Beowulf highly focuses on battling, one having
honor for their kingdom, and even has some religious representation. Beowulf is an epic poem, which
is defined as a long, narrative poem about a larger than life, legendary character in pursuit of a goal of
national importance. Also, Beowulf s character is classified as an epic hero, which is defined as one
who constitutes superior strength and excellent ethics, one who does many valorous

Another method of obtaining an education is by convincing a studio to take you on as an intern, with

the recording industry is fairly young, and some of the greatest engineers received no formal

After training or schooling has been received, there are a few ways that might get you in the door and

Check what seminars are being offered for Recording Engineers and go. Contacts can be made and

Personal Statement On The Importance Of Self Awareness
Introduction
The purpose of this learning journal is to demonstrate the development of my learning and
understanding of the importance of self awareness in relation to leadership. In order to pursue my
personal growth and career development I have kept a record of collection of ideas throughout the
entire class in order to improve my leadership quality to achieve my desired goals by maximizing my
strength and minimizing the weaknesses. Hence, in this journal I have chosen the four areas of
leadership which influence my interpersonal relationship as a leader.
Personal Leadership
Personal leadership is regarded as important quality to a leader where a leader himself is motivated to
do things. In pursuance of achieving such kind of leadership quality one should see himself as a role
model. This can be achieved by setting high standards of responsibility. In other words it is the
responsibility for all aspects of your life and leading it in the direction that suits best for you (Career et
al., 2015). In my view, to develop your personal leadership skills, you should have a positive attitude
in making your decisions that best suits you and making your own choices for positive outcomes. As
stated by the meaning for personal leadership, making decisions at your best interest and taking full
responsibility for the decisions you made helps you develop your ability to be an effective leader.
Hence, adopting such kind of personal leadership will help me improve my decision making

same issues, but I also feel like each of them are unique from one another because of the person who

Thomas Fortune has more of gradualism approach to it. He is more focused on getting the attention
for the white audience and get the respect from them. Fortune asks, What is the Negro s place in
American life at the present day? (2). He says that the answer depends on the point of view of the
person and I greatly agree with that statement because I could believe completely differently from the
person sitting directly beside me on the situation. Sadly, blacks and whites were not always treated the
same way and still aren t always treated in the same ways today either. Fortune states, There can be no
healthy growth in the life of race or a nation without a self reliant spirit animating the whole body...
(4). I feel like this statement is something that is important in this speech. It touches on how there is
nothing healthy about not having equal rights between whites and blacks. Few blacks can trace back
their ancestors as easily as it for whites, because they don t have an ancestry. This made it very hard
on them because, unlike the whites, they would have had nothing to fall back on. Whites just had it a
lot easier and honestly still do. People believe that there isn t any more racism, but it s very hard for
me to believe that after so many years of this occurring for it to just completely stop. In my opinion,
giving blacks the rights that they deserve will make things differently because

Honeycomb tire
Introduction
Getting a flat tire is never convenient. When we find our car s tire is broke in the street, it is hard for
us to do something for it. We may call some towing companies to towing our car to some place safe.
But it need cost a lot of money. Why the tire can flat, because inside of the tire is air. We using a lot of
air inside of the tire, so we can hold our car. The hub will not touch the ground. So if we want to have
a tire that will never flat, we need find a way to replace the air.

My Mother Speech
My Mother I ve been taught many things by many people in my life, but I believe that the person who
has taught me the most is my mother. My mother has taught me several important things I will need to
know right now as well as when I am older, such as, how to react to situations, things about the Bible,
and how to handle things that involve boys. In the many times my mother has told me how to react to
situations, I haven t always listened, and in the end, Mom is ALWAYS right. One time I didn t listen to
my mother s advice was when I was in elementary school. A little boy was picking on me and I really
didn t like it. I told Momma and Daddy about it and their responses were completely different.
Momma told me to ignore him and pray for him, but Daddy told me to punch him in the nose. All I m
going to say is, I ended up in the principals office wishing I had taken my mother s advice. Now,
enough with all the bad stuff, let me tell you about a time I actually did listen to my mom. My best
friend Laura and I were having a disagreement on the way we believe. I believe that when you sin,
that means doing something that goes against the Bible, you must ask for forgiveness or you are once
again a sinner. Laura, however, did not believe that. She told me that it was stupid of me to ask the
Lord to forgive me because once I am saved, I am saved forever and I can sin all I want. I told her
otherwise, that caused a great debate between us. I told my mom about this problem and she told me
to say this, Laura, if I am wrong and you are right, what harm will it do for me to ask for forgiveness?
I ll go to heaven either way. But if you are wrong and I am right, you re in for a whole lot of trouble
when it comes time for Jesus to come back. I said that to Laura and so far the topic has only come up a
few times and we are still best friends, all thanks to my mother s great advice. Now that we re on the
topic of beliefs I m going to tell you about some of the things my mother has taught me about The
Bible. I have been in church all my life, so has my mother and father. My father is a deacon in our

Definition Of Effective Leadership And Leadership
Scripture has much to say in regards to leadership and those in positions of leadership. The Bible tells
us that leaders are to lead with integrity and values that govern the heart. So he shepherded them
according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them with skillful hands. (Psalm 78:72 NKJV)
Unfortunately, that is not the practice of many in leadership, often leaders operate with a public set of
values that differs from that of their private life. The definition of effective leadership has changed
from character driven leadership to results oriented leadership and is now determined by the results a
leader produces, as long as the leader is producing good results, the private life of a leader has no
bearing on the situation. (Rima, 2000) While it is true, that leaders can, for a time, engage in a quality
practice of leadership that differs from their personal life and produce positive results, eventually, the
destructive behaviors of their personal life will affect and influence their public life and may result in
failure and scandal.
The dangers of this dichotomy are leaders that are emotionally or psychologically unhealthy and the
end result is leaders that lack integrity and depth of character. The consequence of this philosophy is
failed businesses and churches, ineffective governments, broken marriages and families. This
disconnect between the public and private life has led to a major distrust and wariness of public
leaders. Rima believes that the root cause

James Weldon Johnson My City Essay
The sonnet poem, My City, by James Weldon Johnson is about how a man is so in love with his city,
Manhattan that he doesn t want to die and never be able to see it again. This poem shows the emotion
connection he shares with his city. The mood, tone, theme, imagery, repetition, and personification in
the poem will help you to understand it better. If it weren t for these details, you wouldn t quite
understand this piece as well, since there would be many ways to interpret it. The speaker gives a
personal statement in this piece of poetry. He asks what his greatest loss would be once he dies, and he
answers it in detail. You will see the poet s love for Manhattan, and see how beautiful his emotional
connection is with it.

The poet talks about all the things that he won t miss after death, which is nature. He uses imagery to
express it. Johnson (1923) writes, Will it be that no more I shall see the trees/ Or smell the flowers or
hear the singing birds/ Or watch the flashing streams or patient herds? (p. 677). He gets you to
imagine nature and its beauty, and then writes, No, I am sure it will be none of these. (Johnson, 1923,
p. 677). Now that you know it s not nature that he will miss the most, he continues to talk about his
city, Manhattan, and that it would be the thing he would miss the most. The poet then uses
personification and repetition to explain what he loves about his city. Johnson (1923) writes, But ah!
Manhattan s sights and sounds, her smells,/ Her crowds, her throbbing force, the thrill that comes/
From being of her a part, her subtle spells,/ Her shining towers, her avenues, her slums (p. 677). The
personification here clearly shows the emotional connection he shares with his city. The fact that he
refers to his city as a her just shows how much he loves Manhattan. Also, as you can see, there is a
repetition of the word her, which creates excitement in the tone of the poem. It changes the mood
entirely and the fact that the poet constantly refers to his city as a her, and not an it just shows how
much love he has for Manhattan. The

Research Paper on Hurricane Wilma
Hurricane Wilma

Geology 1401
Introducion: Cyclones, Hurricanes, and Typhoons, these cyclonic storms are known by many names
but are all born from the same mechanism: low pressure systems. Also known as depressions.
Thankfully, most hurricanes form only during hurricane season, which is from June 1st to November
30th. Within this season about 85 percent of the most intense hurricanes and 60 percent of minor
Atlantic tropical storms and hurricanes originate from African easterly waves (NOAA Cyclone

Hurricane Wilma On the evening of October 15, 2005 tropical depression number 24 appeared in
Atlantic Ocean, its winds at a mere 35 kilo meters per hour, pressure of about 1004 mb and heading
West at a pace of 5 kilo meters per hour. In the next few hours, the winds of depression number 24
gradually increased to 45 km/h and on the morning of October 16, it had reached speeds of 55 km/h.
On the 17nth of October this depression developed into tropical storm Wilma , with wind speeds at
about 65 km/h and an internal pressure of 1000 mb. At about 10 A.M the Yucatan Peninsula was
issued a warning, alerting them of the possible dangers from Wilma. Following an erratic pattern of
movement, experts were not sure where Wilma was headed. On the morning of October 18 Wilma was
about 810 km from Punta Allen, Mexico. Wilma once again intensified reaching speeds of 120 km/h,
by the end of the day it was officially a category II hurricane at 175 km/h. On the 19nth at 4 A.M,
about 595 km from Punta Allen, Mexico hurricane Wilma quickly reached wind speeds of 280 km and
pression levels of 980 mb, at these speeds Wilma was now classified as a category V. The rate at

How The Mac Is A Medium Access Control Protocol
Introduction : This paper discusses about the S MAC , which is a Medium Access Control Protocol
used in wireless sensor networks . The protocol proposed in the paper is mainly inspired by PAMAS .
The important goals of this protocol is to conserve energy and configure by itself or known as
scalability . It is entirely different from traditional mac protocols like ieee 802.11. The protocol uses
three primary techniques to support energy conserving and self configuration . they periodically sleep
to minimize energy consumption , then formation of virtual clusters by neighbor nodes for auto
synchronization on sleep times and radios are also set to sleep during transmissions of other node .
Then S mac uses message passing and in channel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2) periodic listen and sleep : in this the listen time is reduced by letting go the node into periodic sleep
.
a) basis scheme : in this node goes to sleep for a specified time and then wakes up to listen if any node
wants to communicate with it . A timer is set during sleep and the radio of the node is also turned off .
A periodic synchronization is between neighbor nodes for their correct clock timings . Two techniques
are used to synchronization one is timestamps exchanged are relative other than being absolute.
Another technique is listen is period is longer than clock error or drift . To reduce control overhead
neighbor nodes should be preferred to synchronize together . to be noted that all neighboring nodes
cant synchronize together . then all nodes broadcast their schedule to all its immediate neighbors this
for ensuring that all neighbor can talk with different schedule times . If multiple nodes want to talk to
a node , this can be done by contention mechanism using request to send and clear to send packets .
here first come first serve basis , node which send first will grab the medium . here the formation of
nodes are done in flat topology .
b) choosing and maintaining schedules : each node maintains its own schedule table where its
neighbor nodes schedule are stored. First node listens for a particular time , if it is not hearing from
another node it randomnly goes to sleep with broadcasting a SYNC message .

Problems With Driverless Cars
In an increasingly automated world, it is inevitable that driving will someday simply consist of of
inputting an address and sitting back to enjoy the ride. While some might complain that driverless cars
restrict our independence, autonomous technology could prevent thousands of deaths in Houston and
boost the economy by removing the risk of human error.
Recent experiments in California have already proven the superior reliability of autonomous
technology in comparison to old fashioned, human operated vehicles. Overall, the majority of crashes
involving self driving cars are caused by outside human error. If the entire city were autonomous, it
would be unlikely for driverless cars to experience significant issues. In the city of Houston, this could
possibly save the lives of more than 3,000 people per year.
Furthermore, fewer traffic accidents would result in less road congestion throughout the year. A study

Analysis Of Legally Blonde The Musical
Humorous, energetic, enjoyable and all around fun, Legally Blonde: The Musical captured my
attention from the get go. This comical yet heartwarming musical portrays the story of a young
woman following an ex love to Harvard Law School only to realize the potential she possessed within
herself and in the new life she creates for her own. After viewing this hit Broadway production, I am
fascinated with how this theatre play was brought to life on stage with the lighting, sound, spacing and
overall entertainment from the cast to the costumes. Altogether, this play is one of my all time favorite

Legally Blonde: The Musical starts off by capturing the audience s attention and winning their hearts

singing, dancing and radiating energy. Bundy was a sight to see on the stage as she made every line
believable while achieving at looking like she was having the time of her life throughout the entire

performance from every single character, minor or major, taking part. From scenes such as Elle

Archetype Mother Goddess In The Hunger Games
Being selfless is a characteristic that few people possess. Being concerned more with the needs of
others is what heroism embodies. The narrative in the movie, The Hunger Games follows Katniss
Everdeen s heroic quest as a tribute in the 74th Hunger Games of Panem. How does Katniss embody
the feminine archetype mother goddess and how does a hero s journey represent Katniss quest as a
tribute in the Hunger Games? What is the feminine archetype mother goddess? An archetype is a
personality type that is generally thought to be the greatest or purest example (Harris). Goddess is the
female version of God. A goddess is the great Mother, she exists in all women, is beautiful even in her
flaws, and she is a woman in touch with her own power to create and destroy (Jones ch. 3). The
archetype mother goddess is actually several archetypes bottled up into one great archetype. The Great
Mother personifies a caretaker, guide, nurturer, protector, and creator (ch. 3). A caretaker is a nurturer,
who can take on the role of looking after another human being, is often protective, loyal, and sacrifice
themselves for the greater good (ch. 3). In addition, caretakers are selfless, empathic, virtuous, true,
incredibly strong and resilient (ch. 3). A creator archetype can give birth to new ideas, concepts, and
things (ch. 3). Katniss demonstrates all of these qualities during her quest as a tribute.
What is a hero and a hero s journey? A hero is an individual who has the courage of conviction to
perform feats that benefit the general populace, acts as a soldier of virtue, and has an altruistic spirit
that urges him or her to act against evil and defend the greater good at all costs, even sacrificing his
own well being or life (Harris 2). Vogler reduced Joseph Campbell s The Hero Journey to 12 Stages of
The Hero s Journey. The following are Vogler s Stages of The Hero s Journey:
1. OrdinaryWorld 7. Approach
2. Call To Adventure 8. Supreme Ordeal
3. Refusal Of TheCall 9. Reward
4. Meeting With The Mentor 10. The Road Back
5. Crossing The 1st Threshold 11. Resurrection

Martin Luther Research Paper
You don t need a sociology degree to understand movements calcify into institutions, then decay and
crumble. So as we near the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther s nailing 95 thesis to a church door,
why is the Reformation still a global movement?
In Africa today there are more than twice as many Lutherans than in the United States. Even in
America God continues to bring new people to faith and transform the lives of His followers
I m convinced the movement is fueled by a relationship. A quote of Luther started me down this path:
Though I lived as a religious leader without reproach, I felt, with the most disturbed conscience
imaginable, that I was a sinner before God. I did not love, indeed I hated the righteous God who
punishes sinners.
When I first read this quote I decided there is such a thing as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

People are born in sin but have no legitimate way to atone for those sins. Unfair treatment angers a lot
of people, especially people like Luther who desperately try to play by the rules.
I think the Roman Catholic teaching struck a much deeper chord in Luther. We all long for the
affirmation of our fathers. We also have a deep need for acceptance by our Heavenly Father.
According to the Church, Luther was never certain he would receive the favor of the Heavenly Father,
let alone enter heaven. This was devastating.
Much is made of the three solas of the Reformation: Scripture alone, Grace alone and Faith alone. I
am not convinced even when taken together these three were enough to fuel a movement that has
lasted almost half a millennium.
Instead, I think the three solas were indispensable as conditions for the catalyst of the movement.
Luther himself can show us the Reformation s spark. He spent a lifetime longing for acceptance by
God the Father, yet was convinced this is impossible. Salvation by God s grace through faith in Jesus
was a revelation to Luther. I mean this

I Believe In Neurology
Emotions have a strong influence on human lives. My mother s constant battle with anxiety began
after her mother died of a hemorrhagic stroke due to uncontrolled hypertension. Seeing her struggle
with an almost debilitating fear of illness naturally lead to towards trying to better understand the
complex interplay of disease and emotions.
I am naturally curious. In Pakistan due to limited resources and lack of foreign trained professionals,
the government hospitals affiliated with my medical school have no separate Neurology departments.
Instead of this being a hindrance, I considered it a mixed blessing. My curiosity was kindled and I
studied neuroanatomy and neurology with more vigor than most.
My desire for learning took me to the USA for clinical electives at Mount Sinai School of Medicine,
where I had the best experience in a short time frame. My interest in neurology intensified once I was

The trust placed in me by my patients humbled me and boosted my confidence in my abilities to
continue to learn and manage complicated cases. I enjoyed teaching and sharing my knowledge with
my team. Due to my enthusiasm and interest in the brain, I was offered a job at Brain Surgery. This
afforded me an amazing opportunity to view and learn about the surgical aspects of neurological
diseases. In the U.S., I continued to pursue my interest by doing various rotations with neurologist in a
variety of settings.
I am looking for a Neurology residency program which will afford me the opportunity to learn in a
comprehensive fashion taking both science and ethics into account. I am a diligent, curious, and hard
working individual and look forward to honing my interest and using my skills for the betterment of

The Influence of the Sea in The Awakening Essay
The Influence of the Sea in The Awakening In Kate Chopin s novel, The Awakening, the female
protagonist, Edna Pontellier, learns about the world. Unfortunately for Edna, the world is defined in
terms of love and marriage. This female awakening is really an awakening to limitations (Bloom 43).
If read as a suicide, then Edna s last swim is a consequence of her awakening to the limitations of her
femaleness in a male dominant society. But on a metaphysical level, The Awakening s final scene can
be seen as Edna s ultimate gesture in trying to grasp the essence of her being. This essay will show
that Edna s spiritual journey both begins and ends in the sea.. In the early chapters, Edna is referred to
only as Mrs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sea, in this case, symbolizes samsara, the cyclical rebirths of existence, and is a product of
ignorance and the failure to recognize the impermanent nature of things. On the other shore lies
another rebirth. And it is by the sea that Kate Chopin first pulls Edna out from the narrative and gives
her an ego by referring to her by her given name and, after walking through a sea of grass, recounts
Edna s previous love interests the cavalry officer, a young gentleman, and the tragedian attachments of
previous reincarnations. In other words, Edna s self is born here by inward contemplation , with the
aid of the seductive odor and sonorous murmur of the sea and its loving but imperative entreaty
(Chopin 56 7). The objects of her previous attachments were men, or perhaps her desire for the men of
her past. In Edna s present lifetime on Grand Isle, her attachment is to Robert Lebrun, who draws
Edna s ego to its fullest from Chopin s narrative and makes Edna s suffering more intense and
tangible. Shortly after the reader meets Robert Lebrun and realizes that Edna Pontellier is strangely
drawn to the young man (Chopin 56) the seed of Edna s attachment is thus planted Chopin prepares a

Expectancy Theory
Theories of Motivation: Vroom s Valence Expectancy Theory
If you were a manager, wouldn t you like to know how your employees decide to work hard or goof
off? Wouldn t it be nice to know whether a planned rewards program will have the desired effect
namely, motivating them to perform better in their jobs? Wouldn t it be helpful if you could measure
the effect of bonuses on employee productivity?
These are the issues considered by psychologist Victor Vroom in his expectancy theory, which
proposes that employees will work hard to earn rewards that they value and that they consider
obtainable.
There are three variables of Vroom s model given in the form of an equation. Since the mode is
multiplicative, all the three variables must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(iv) Weak empirical support: the empirical support for the Vroom model is insignificant and lacks
consistency.
The merits of Vroom theory are:
(i) Basic framework: the Vroom s model provides a basic framework for interpreting work motivation
as Keith Davis put it.
According to Fred Luthans, the expectancy model is like marginal analysis in economics. The
expectancy model attempts to mirror the complex motivational process. From the theoretical
standpoint it seems to be a step in the right direction. It is of value in understanding organisational
behaviour.
(ii) Appreciation of individual differences: for the first time in a systematic way it draws attention to
individual differences in motivation.
As Koontz, O. Donnell and Weihrich pointed out: one of the great attractions of the Vroom model is
that it recognizes the importance of various individual needs and motivations. It does seem more
realistic .
(iii) Clue to harmonization of individual and organisation goals: it clarifies the relationship between
individual goals and organisational objectives and thus points to the way how the two can be
harmonized.
It is thus a step further from management by objectives. Instead of assuming that satisfaction of a
specific need is likely to influence organisational objectives in a certain way we can find out how
important to the employee are:

Why Did Macduff Destroy Macbeth
In Macbeth, Act 4: 2, we can see that Macbeth has reached a point in his life where he will do
anything and kill anyone to ensure his stature in the kingdom is protected. We analyzed this when he
first murdered King Duncan and then had Banquo, his best friend, assassinated. With his constant
homicides come sleepless nights and hallucinations of ghosts. Eventually, his wife goes crazy because
of her guilty conscience of provoking her husband into committing the murders, and dies right before
the battle between Macbeth and Macduff occurs. One chief motive behind Macduff s purpose to
destroy Macbeth is what act 4: 2 is about. Macbeth has Macduff s family, and all who were in his
home, slaughtered. This engages Malcolm, who was suspected of his ... Show more content on

So the number of liars outnumbers the amount of trustworthy citizens. Therefore, the term, fair is foul,
and foul is fair, means that people who are nice and trustworthy should, and are, killed, like Banquo
and the family and people or Macduff s home. In return, People who are foul villains, are now trusted?
Comparing to the real world of today, there are those who make promises and break them, but they are
not so severe that they need to be hanged for doing so. However, those who break their promises very
often are perceived as untrustworthy and individuals learn not to converse or make agreements with
them. So, deciding whether someone is a good individual or not, judging by their honesty, is
determined in the eye of the

The Theories And Beliefs Of The Enlightenment Era
The study of philosophy has existed since the beginning of time because of human curiosity. It fueled
the minds of countless philosophers, all in pursuit of understanding the world through the five
branches Epistemology, Metaphysics, Ethics, Politics, and Esthetics. Throughout the age s different
theories and beliefs of philosophers contributed to our current understanding of the world. During the
different eras philosophical beliefs influenced events and documents of the time. The Enlightenment
Era, often called the Age of Reason, brought about many astonishing works deliberating the nature of
human beings. As times progressed to the age of Enlightenment the different ideas surfaced changing
the way humans thought of themselves. Philosophers of the time believed in the essential goodness of
human nature, this was based on the scientific and technological achievements. However, Rousseau
claimed the development of civilization corrupted the natural goodness of humans. The beliefs during
the age of Enlightenment were presented that we are creatures with the ability to reason and human
nature is essentially good, contributing many ideas. Each Philosopher of the Enlightenment Period
with very different works; Diderot, Rousseau, and Voltaire largely impacted and influenced the world
from the Enlightenment period to today across many spectrums. Through the Age of Reason beliefs
developed about what humans believe of our nature. Diderot believed in the essential goodness of

Analysis Of The Knife Of Never Letting Go
The Knife of Never Letting Go Rough Draft In the book, The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick
Ness, Todd is the only boy in Prentisstown that is a month away from becoming a man. Todd is forced
to leave his one and only beloved town, with only his dog,a knife and a backpack, running for his life
from an army that can hear his every thought. The Knife of Never Letting Go is based on, superiority
is lost when manhood is developed and friendships are grown through identity. One of the few things
Todd is given as he is forced to leave is a knife, It s a hunting knife, the big ratchety one with the bone
handle and the serrated edge that cuts practically everything in the world, the knife I was hoping to get
for the birthday when I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Todd has taken a step closer to entering manhood, and the knife has taken a step of having less power
in his eyes. When Aaron is telling Todd to kill him, Viola takes the knife and kills him, And gravity
takes his body and he slumps sideways. Away from the pulpit. And over the edge. And disappears
under the wall of water. Taking the knife with him (Ness, 463). As soon as the knife and Aaron hit the
ground, all of Todd s superiority and power is lost and he becomes a man. Todd has humbled himself
and that is the real definition of a man, and Todd has to learn that. Todd s dog, Manchee, plays a big
role in loyalty and the friendship. Because Todd is the only boy left of his town he is given a dog for
company, so suddenly here s this brand new dog as a present for my birthday last year when I never
said I wanted any dog, that what I said I wanted was for Cillian to finally fix the fission bike... (Ness,
3). It is obvious that Todd doesn t want the dog and he is ungrateful for it. Even if Todd has already
had this dog for almost an entire year he is ungrateful for all the memories he has made. Todd is
realizes that his dog is so much to be grateful for, I rub the ears of my dog, my stupid god damn ruddy
great dog that I never wanted but who hung around anyway and who followed me thru the swamp and
who bit Aaron when he was trying to choke me and who found Viola when she was lost and who s

Essay On Gas Chamber
Gas Chamber Punishment
There are only four states that still authorize the use of the gas chamber as a punishment of the Death
Penalty. These states are Arizona, California, Missouri, and Wyoming. This is a barbaric way to
punish someone no matter what they did. It should not happen. Even though only four states still allow
it, that is four too many. It is like how Hitler put the Jewish people into gas showers at concentration
camps! Hitler used hydrogen cyanide in his gas showers which is the same stuff they use in the capital
punishment gas chambers. There are many ways for someone to pay for their crimes, the gas chamber
should not be one of them. To start off with, the process of how these gas chambers work are simply
savage. They strap the inmate to a chair with holes in the seat, then a mixture of sulfuric acid, distilled
water and sodium cyanide is dumped into a container under the seat. This mix of chemicals creates
hydrogen cyanide (HCN). In addition to this, the first execution of the gas chamber was the
unfortunate inmate named Gee Jon, a Chinese immigrant who was a part of the Hip Sing Tong, a
criminal gang who got into a bloody fight with the Bing Kong Tong gang. He was sentenced to death
row. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also used in mining. Basically what it does is it gets the gold from the rock in the mine easier.
This is very useful and can be safe if you take the safety precautions. This is a much better option than
the chemical miners used before, which was mercury. Exposure to mercury for too long can cause
hallucinations. According to miningfacts.org, Cyanide, in the form of a very dilute sodium cyanide
solution, is used to dissolve and separate gold from ore. If cyanide destroy cave rock, imagine what it
is doing to an actual human! The people whom receive the gas chamber punishment do not get an
anesthetic or painkiller. They just have to suffer through the pain. This needs to

  • 2. North Tower Of The World Trade Center On September 11, 2001, at 8:45 AM, Eastern Time, American Airlines flight 111, headed from Boston smashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York. An hour later, a second plane crashed into the south tower at 550 miles an hour. The south tower only lasted 56 minutes, collapsing straight down, killing thousands of people, and creating a dust cloud that sent people scurrying for cover in the streets below. The north tower didn t last much longer, also collapsing straight down, setting surrounding buildings ablaze with it. A third plane hit the pentagon, and a fourth plane, destined for the white house, was retaken by passengers and crashed in a field in northern Pennsylvania. Over 3,000 people lost their lives in a single day, making the 9/11 attacks the most deadly terrorist action in history. America, needless to say, was hurt, and enraged. On September 20, 2001, President George W. Bush declared war on terrorism in a speech to congress, saying, after listing demands to the Taliban, If you do not hand over the terrorists, you will share in their fate. This began a decades long fight against terrorism in the Middle East. Since 2001, Al Qaeda, the terrorist group who carried out the 9/11 attacks has been all but vanquished. However, Al Qaeda was by no means alone in its extremist views of Islam. Since then, other groups have risen. The most notable of these has risen quite recently, coming to America s attention in the past 2 years. While the demands ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analyzing Bloch s Painting Bloch uses both analogous and complementary colors in the artwork to convey a message to make the artwork standout. The artwork uses analogous colors to a calming view to the artwork and to emphasize the drowsiness of the passengers. The black color of the man s coat is the same as the color of the woman headwear sitting right next to him. The dark black of the man s coat in headwear are analogous to the dark shade of green use as the color of the chairs. The dark black and green color is analogous to the window s color, as the windows are very dark showing that it is dark outside. The man sitting on the chair on the left is wearing a brown coat which is analogous in color to his skin color. The painting also uses complementary colors to make the painting stand out. The arm board of the chair is a red color which is complementary to the dark blue green chair. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The faces of the people are giving the light in the picture and are giving the focal point of the image. This draws the viewers attention to the face of the two men and the woman as their faces show how tired they are. The man on the left of the painting has is eyes closed and appears to be sleeping. The woman has her eyes gently shut and appears to be falling asleep. The man in the middle eyes are open, but his eyes have bags underneath and his face shows that he is very tired. The background of the image is shaded out. Nothing can be seen outside the window, because whatever is outside is not important for the message of the painting. However, the darkness of the window makes it seem like it is night or late evening which fits into the story the artist is showing. This will make the travelers seem as if they have either been traveling for a long time, or that the two men are returning from work. • 4. Numericus Sphaericus Essay Lysinibacillus sphaericus (formerly Bacillus sphaericus) has been used as an alternative strategy to control mosquito s population because it is harmless to humans and other non target organisms. Extensive studies have demonstrated the larvicidal activity of the binary toxin, which is the core of the bacterium s toxicity. Binary toxin is produces as parasporal crystals during sporulation, and specifically binds to a single class of receptors, α glucosidases, in larvae midgut. Because L. sphaericus toxicity is based on only one kind of toxin, high level resistance against the bacterium was observed in the field [1]. One of approaches to manage binary toxin resistance is the utilization of binary toxin in combination with other mosquitocidal toxins, among those are toxins from Bacillus thuringiensis, and from B. sphaericus itself. Beside the spore associated binary toxin crystals, B. sphaericus also produces soluble mosquitocidal toxins Mtx1, Mtx2 and Mtx3 during vegetative growth, whose applications have not been as thoroughly explored [1]. ... The mtx2 gene encodes a 31.8 kDa protein which is moderately toxic to Culex and Aedes larvae [3], and specificity determinant of the protein depends on amino acid at position 224 where lysine and threonine renders toxicity towards Culex and Aedes larvae, respectively [4]. They fought for land near the fertile Ohio River Valley, both claiming to own the land. The strive to fully own this land led to the French and Indian war in 1754. The French fought with the Native Americans against England and its colonies. In 1763, the war finally ended with the surrender at Montreal and the Treaty of Paris. England had won the war, but at a certain price. Eventually, through a chain of events, England lost rebellious America because of this war. • 8. Inequality Vs Economic Inequality To begin with, all men are not created equal, they live different lives and posses different abilities. Although some people possess greater talents than others, no person is better than any other person; such as a celebrity or a homeless person. People who possess great talents that are useful to society are often accepted and more recognized, but then bring down those who are different as in color or sex so that they may not practice their skills. First of all, although the U.S. Constitution proffers equal rights to all, money is the source of power. Consequently, when a person owns more money and they have skills that others don t, they usually come on top begetting power and great influence in the world. Although there are many different branches of inequality, two inequalities focused in this paragraph are social inequality and economic inequality; which are closely related to one another. Furthermore economic inequality is the difference found in various measures of economic well being among individuals in a group, among groups in a population, or among countries. To put it simply, economic inequality is the difference in wealth of the people and of the world. The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari Essay Around the premonition of the rising of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party, two German World War I veterans named Hans Janowitz and Carl Mayer wrote the script for the German silent film, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari . The plot tells the story of a crazy hypnotist, Dr. Caligari, who hypnotizes and uses a somnambulist, Cesare, to commit murders. • 11. Aboriginal Women are Oppressed in Society Essay Throughout history, women have been the victims of oppression in society. In specific, Aboriginal women have suffered through racism, sexism, domestic violence, and over representation. Through the implementation of the Indian Act, Aboriginal women have been forced to abandon their culture in order to assimilate into Canadian society. The effects of colonization has changed the way Aboriginal women are treated; emotionally and physically, and therefore are the source of oppression today. The Indian Act was created under the provisions section 91 of the Constitution Act of 1867 (Moss, 1990). The act was implemented to define who an Indian is and the rights that come with the title. Treaty benefits, health, rights to living on the reserve and property are forfeited as a result of losing Indian status. This also happens when an Indian women gets married to another Indian man. Ultimately, if the women becomes widowed or abandoned then she loses all status of being an Indian all together. On the other hand, men can marry a non status woman and all of his rights would be kept. With strides of equality throughout history, it takes a step back when Aboriginal women are entirely dependent of their husband. Several cases were took to court in the 1970 s, but not until 1980 is when there was a connection found between the United Nations Human Rights Committee and the Canadian Human Rights Act. With this section in direct violation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the removal of a woman s Indian status while marrying a non Indian man was done and Bill C 31 was passed so victims of the Indian Act can be reimbursed. However, Bill C 31 is still under scrutiny because those who have their status reinstated to them can only pass it on for one generation. This is a violation under Section 15 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms (Payne, 1992). The Indian Act is a controversial piece of legislation that was passed in 1876. • 13. Construction Contract Essay Assignment 1. For the following types of undertakings, which contract modes are most appropriate? Be prepared to explain the rationale behind your choice. We want to order a pencil manufacturer to produce 20,000 pencils for us When ordering a set number of items from a manufacturer who is in the business of making that product and will not have to engage in any research, development, or real custom work, the standard contract would be a fixed price contract . This scenario describes a simple bulk order of an item. Therefore, in this situation, the most appropriate contract mode is the fixed price contract. This allows the company to receive a number of bids for the 20,000 pencil contract and compare the costs in those bids. It also does not put the seller at tremendous risk because they do not face tremendous variation in the costs of their supplies for manufacturers. Also, as the purchaser fixed price contracts are good for purchasers, because the sellers bear most of the risk of the contract. We want to have a 300 meter bridge built to span a local river When engaging in a construction contract, time is of the essence and running over time projections can cause literally millions of dollars in additional non contract costs. Therefore, construction contracts that can provide incentives to complete the project on time or early are beneficial because they effectively penalized contractors who fail to deliver on time performance. The place is at City of Whittier, the location is 13230 Penn Street Whittier, CA 90602, and the date I went to go visit was Thursday August 6. It was my first time attending a local governmental meeting. The meeting that was held was titled as The Parking and Transportation Commission. I was glad the topic was on this because I felt keeping our society safe is the most important. So the City Council would do its best to make sure that there would not be hassle while driving on the road way. They try their best to prevent traffic and parking problems. Obviously there is still going to be traffic on the freeways, but they try their best to cause fewer problems for people in the society. The members that were in the meeting would give suggestions or feedback, and recommendations to other board members. Everyone had their own point of view about the Parking and Transportation issue. The Directive was taking a look at the transportation ecological impact reports, future transportation expansion strategies, and school crossing guard sites. I feel like their thoughts were all good, however in my opinion it is not a good idea to use all those recommendations regarding about the issue. The reason for this is because then it would be too costly. I feel that it would be best to just take the best recommendation and then use that as a strategy for traffic flow. One reason why seat belts should be required on school buses is that it will save students lives. According to an article released by the Today show About 440,000 school buses carry 24 million kids each and every day during the school year, which can be dangerous if the bus gets in a crash. Undoubtedly, school buses should be required to have seat belts if 24 million kids ride school buses each day. Furthermore, another reason is it will get students to stay seated on the school buses . When students do not stay seated on the bus and they are in awkward positions and in the aisle they are more prone to facing severe injuries, maybe even, death . Adding on, if students have seatbelts on, they will have to sit down because they can stand up with a seatbelt on. Going even further, cameras can be on school buses just like the cameras on the school buses in Glenwood Community School District. The literature serves as a reflection of this ancient time rather than having an impact on this time period. This was a period of great conquering, pride and honor, and Christian expansion with recorded literature that exaggerated and symbolized what was occurring. This time remains the darkest, the least documented in British history ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The religious transformation was a slow but progressive growth. It is definitely certain that the characters of these oral stories were exaggerated or even make believe and as a matter of fact after much studies of the Roman Empire, there has even been controversy over King Arthur s existence. (Wood 39) The question is, what happened in Britain after the fall of the Roman Empire? Bound up with that, there is a second question: did there exist at this time a war leader called Arthur? (Wood, 39). This shows that not only were the obviously exaggerated heroic characters fake but also some of the seemingly realistic characters were as well. This indicates that these stories were definitely exaggerated for entertainment purposes, but at the same time, used to describe the battles, the honor and events that happened at this time. There are three main literary works of this time period: Beowulf, Wife s Lament, and The Seafarer. Each literary work has unique symbolism and can be analyzed and interpreted to show what they represent. Beowulf highly focuses on battling, one having honor for their kingdom, and even has some religious representation. Beowulf is an epic poem, which is defined as a long, narrative poem about a larger than life, legendary character in pursuit of a goal of national importance. Personal Statement On The Importance Of Self Awareness Introduction The purpose of this learning journal is to demonstrate the development of my learning and understanding of the importance of self awareness in relation to leadership. In order to pursue my personal growth and career development I have kept a record of collection of ideas throughout the entire class in order to improve my leadership quality to achieve my desired goals by maximizing my strength and minimizing the weaknesses. Hence, in this journal I have chosen the four areas of leadership which influence my interpersonal relationship as a leader. Personal Leadership Personal leadership is regarded as important quality to a leader where a leader himself is motivated to do things. In pursuance of achieving such kind of leadership quality one should see himself as a role model. This can be achieved by setting high standards of responsibility. In other words it is the responsibility for all aspects of your life and leading it in the direction that suits best for you (Career et al., 2015). In my view, to develop your personal leadership skills, you should have a positive attitude in making your decisions that best suits you and making your own choices for positive outcomes. As stated by the meaning for personal leadership, making decisions at your best interest and taking full responsibility for the decisions you made helps you develop your ability to be an effective leader. My best friend Laura and I were having a disagreement on the way we believe. I believe that when you sin, that means doing something that goes against the Bible, you must ask for forgiveness or you are once again a sinner. Laura, however, did not believe that. She told me that it was stupid of me to ask the Lord to forgive me because once I am saved, I am saved forever and I can sin all I want. I told her otherwise, that caused a great debate between us. I told my mom about this problem and she told me to say this, Laura, if I am wrong and you are right, what harm will it do for me to ask for forgiveness? I ll go to heaven either way. But if you are wrong and I am right, you re in for a whole lot of trouble when it comes time for Jesus to come back. • 29. Definition Of Effective Leadership And Leadership Scripture has much to say in regards to leadership and those in positions of leadership. The Bible tells us that leaders are to lead with integrity and values that govern the heart. So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them with skillful hands. (Psalm 78:72 NKJV) Unfortunately, that is not the practice of many in leadership, often leaders operate with a public set of values that differs from that of their private life. The definition of effective leadership has changed from character driven leadership to results oriented leadership and is now determined by the results a leader produces, as long as the leader is producing good results, the private life of a leader has no bearing on the situation. (Rima, 2000) While it is true, that leaders can, for a time, engage in a quality practice of leadership that differs from their personal life and produce positive results, eventually, the destructive behaviors of their personal life will affect and influence their public life and may result in failure and scandal. The dangers of this dichotomy are leaders that are emotionally or psychologically unhealthy and the end result is leaders that lack integrity and depth of character. The consequence of this philosophy is failed businesses and churches, ineffective governments, broken marriages and families. This disconnect between the public and private life has led to a major distrust and wariness of public leaders. Rima believes that the root cause ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He gets you to imagine nature and its beauty, and then writes, No, I am sure it will be none of these. (Johnson, 1923, p. 677). Now that you know it s not nature that he will miss the most, he continues to talk about his city, Manhattan, and that it would be the thing he would miss the most. In the city of Houston, this could possibly save the lives of more than 3,000 people per year. Furthermore, fewer traffic accidents would result in less road congestion throughout the year. The trolley problem is a no win situation where it is guaranteed that either one person or a group of people will die, based on the choices made by an outsider, who in this case would be the car. If programmed to choose the most utilitarian outcome, the driver of the car would perish in such a scenario. Knowing this information, the requirement of self driving cars could cause an extreme public outcry. For these reasons, driverless cars will only have an insignificant impact on the city of Houston until the flaws are worked out and drivers accept such a foreign change. • 39. Analysis Of Legally Blonde The Musical Humorous, energetic, enjoyable and all around fun, Legally Blonde: The Musical captured my attention from the get go. This comical yet heartwarming musical portrays the story of a young woman following an ex love to Harvard Law School only to realize the potential she possessed within herself and in the new life she creates for her own. After viewing this hit Broadway production, I am fascinated with how this theatre play was brought to life on stage with the lighting, sound, spacing and overall entertainment from the cast to the costumes. Altogether, this play is one of my all time favorite productions and it is one that keeps my attention from the moment it takes off to the closing of the curtain at the end. Legally Blonde: The Musical starts off by capturing the audience s attention and winning their hearts with the characters and the acting that takes place in this performance. The main character, Elle Woods, played by Laura Bell Bundy in the Broadway production, soared though this musical with her singing, dancing and radiating energy. Bundy was a sight to see on the stage as she made every line believable while achieving at looking like she was having the time of her life throughout the entire production. The thing that stuck out the most was the amount of emotion that was poured into this performance from every single character, minor or major, taking part. • 40. Archetype Mother Goddess In The Hunger Games Being selfless is a characteristic that few people possess. Being concerned more with the needs of others is what heroism embodies. The narrative in the movie, The Hunger Games follows Katniss Everdeen s heroic quest as a tribute in the 74th Hunger Games of Panem. How does Katniss embody the feminine archetype mother goddess and how does a hero s journey represent Katniss quest as a tribute in the Hunger Games? What is the feminine archetype mother goddess? An archetype is a personality type that is generally thought to be the greatest or purest example (Harris). Goddess is the female version of God. A goddess is the great Mother, she exists in all women, is beautiful even in her flaws, and she is a woman in touch with her own power to create and destroy (Jones ch. 3). The archetype mother goddess is actually several archetypes bottled up into one great archetype. The Great Mother personifies a caretaker, guide, nurturer, protector, and creator (ch. 3). A caretaker is a nurturer, who can take on the role of looking after another human being, is often protective, loyal, and sacrifice themselves for the greater good (ch. 3). In addition, caretakers are selfless, empathic, virtuous, true, incredibly strong and resilient (ch. 3). A creator archetype can give birth to new ideas, concepts, and things (ch. 3). Katniss demonstrates all of these qualities during her quest as a tribute. What is a hero and a hero s journey? A hero is an individual who has the courage of conviction to perform feats that benefit the general populace, acts as a soldier of virtue, and has an altruistic spirit that urges him or her to act against evil and defend the greater good at all costs, even sacrificing his own well being or life (Harris 2). Vogler reduced Joseph Campbell s The Hero Journey to 12 Stages of The Hero s Journey. The following are Vogler s Stages of The Hero s Journey: 1. OrdinaryWorld 7. Approach 2. Call To Adventure 8. Supreme Ordeal 3. Refusal Of TheCall 9. Reward 4. Meeting With The Mentor 10. The Road Back 5. Crossing The 1st Threshold 11. Resurrection 6. Tests, Allies, Enemies 12. • 41. Martin Luther Research Paper You don t need a sociology degree to understand movements calcify into institutions, then decay and crumble. So as we near the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther s nailing 95 thesis to a church door, why is the Reformation still a global movement? In Africa today there are more than twice as many Lutherans than in the United States. Even in America God continues to bring new people to faith and transform the lives of His followers I m convinced the movement is fueled by a relationship. A quote of Luther started me down this path: Though I lived as a religious leader without reproach, I felt, with the most disturbed conscience imaginable, that I was a sinner before God. I did not love, indeed I hated the righteous God who punishes sinners. When I first read this quote I decided there is such a thing as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People are born in sin but have no legitimate way to atone for those sins. Unfair treatment angers a lot of people, especially people like Luther who desperately try to play by the rules. I think the Roman Catholic teaching struck a much deeper chord in Luther. We all long for the affirmation of our fathers. We also have a deep need for acceptance by our Heavenly Father. According to the Church, Luther was never certain he would receive the favor of the Heavenly Father, let alone enter heaven. This was devastating. Much is made of the three solas of the Reformation: Scripture alone, Grace alone and Faith alone. I am not convinced even when taken together these three were enough to fuel a movement that has lasted almost half a millennium. Instead, I think the three solas were indispensable as conditions for the catalyst of the movement. Luther himself can show us the Reformation s spark. He spent a lifetime longing for acceptance by God the Father, yet was convinced this is impossible. Salvation by God s grace through faith in Jesus was a revelation to Luther. I mean this ... The Influence of the Sea in The Awakening Essay The Influence of the Sea in The Awakening In Kate Chopin s novel, The Awakening, the female protagonist, Edna Pontellier, learns about the world. Unfortunately for Edna, the world is defined in terms of love and marriage. This female awakening is really an awakening to limitations (Bloom 43). If read as a suicide, then Edna s last swim is a consequence of her awakening to the limitations of her femaleness in a male dominant society. In other words, Edna s self is born here by inward contemplation , with the aid of the seductive odor and sonorous murmur of the sea and its loving but imperative entreaty (Chopin 56 7). The objects of her previous attachments were men, or perhaps her desire for the men of her past. In Edna s present lifetime on Grand Isle, her attachment is to Robert Lebrun, who draws Edna s ego to its fullest from Chopin s narrative and makes Edna s suffering more intense and tangible. Wouldn t it be nice to know whether a planned rewards program will have the desired effect namely, motivating them to perform better in their jobs? Wouldn t it be helpful if you could measure the effect of bonuses on employee productivity? These are the issues considered by psychologist Victor Vroom in his expectancy theory, which proposes that employees will work hard to earn rewards that they value and that they consider obtainable. The merits of Vroom theory are: (i) Basic framework: the Vroom s model provides a basic framework for interpreting work motivation as Keith Davis put it. According to Fred Luthans, the expectancy model is like marginal analysis in economics. The expectancy model attempts to mirror the complex motivational process. From the theoretical standpoint it seems to be a step in the right direction. It is of value in understanding organisational behaviour. (ii) Appreciation of individual differences: for the first time in a systematic way it draws attention to individual differences in motivation. As Koontz, O. Donnell and Weihrich pointed out: one of the great attractions of the Vroom model is that it recognizes the importance of various individual needs and motivations. It does seem more realistic . (iii) Clue to harmonization of individual and organisation goals: it clarifies the relationship between individual goals and organisational objectives and thus points to the way how the two can be harmonized. It is thus a step further from management by objectives. Instead of assuming that satisfaction of a specific need is likely to influence organisational objectives in a certain way we can find out how important to the employee are: ... Why Did Macduff Destroy Macbeth In Macbeth, Act 4: 2, we can see that Macbeth has reached a point in his life where he will do anything and kill anyone to ensure his stature in the kingdom is protected. Eventually, his wife goes crazy because of her guilty conscience of provoking her husband into committing the murders, and dies right before the battle between Macbeth and Macduff occurs. These states are Arizona, California, Missouri, and Wyoming. This is a barbaric way to punish someone no matter what they did. It should not happen. Even though only four states still allow it, that is four too many. It is like how Hitler put the Jewish people into gas showers at concentration camps! Hitler used hydrogen cyanide in his gas showers which is the same stuff they use in the capital punishment gas chambers. There are many ways for someone to pay for their crimes, the gas chamber should not be one of them. To start off with, the process of how these gas chambers work are simply savage. They strap the inmate to a chair with holes in the seat, then a mixture of sulfuric acid, distilled water and sodium cyanide is dumped into a container under the seat. This mix of chemicals creates hydrogen cyanide (HCN).
