Sumiah Rose
Style sheet
I created these colour swatches on paletton.
Paletton is a very useful website as it lets you
chose a colour you like and then it can choose
out 1,2 or 3 more colours that go well visually
with that colour. This is very useful for my
game as I will need a lot of colours to chose
from to create my background. Having these
sets automatically gives me a load of colors
that I can easily choose from and know that
they go together well.
For the actual colours I chose earthy, rural, and
drab colours. This is because I wanted the
game to feel realistic but to also look like its
taken on the effect of fighting and war. To me
having a game about fighting and are but then
having bright colours puts me off. It doesn't fit
the context and immediately gets rid of any
feel of realism.
Style sheet For this aspect of my style sheet I
wanted to choose pixel art that I’m
going to use for inspiration when
creating my own game. For the
background I chose more forestry,
jungle themed settings. As this is
what I’m looking to create in my
game, having these images will
help me to picture how I want to
set out my background.
I also chose to look at different
objects that might appear in my
game. I chose to use a star, as it
will be simple to draw but effective
in standing out. I particularly like
the one I chose as it is drawn in 2D
but is made to look like 3D.
For the main character in my game I want a
strong female lead, these are a few images
of female characters I found that are similar
to the one I would like to create. I’m
particularly drawn to the character with red
hair as she stands out and looks powerful
which is what I want my character to look
like.
I have also looked at potential enemy
images. For my game I need an enemy for
my character to fight against. So I chose two
that I though would fit in with the concept. I
do really like both of these looks as they’re
really effective and unique.
Screenshot Layout 1
This layout is made up of an 8 Bit background, two pixel characters and a star I found online. This is the sort of structure I want my game to have, with the
player running collecting certain items and killing off the ‘bad guys’. I think this is simple basic structure for a game but can then be built into with detail. One
thing I noticed that might come in use when creating my own game was the objects i had placed into the game weren’t really standing out as the background
had so much detail. I was a bit worried about this as I would have the same problem when creating my game. I decided to look at the blending options, on this
I found I could make the objects have an outer glow. This created a white line around the objects which helped to differentiate the different objects. I’m not
sure whether it will look the same on my game but it is definitely something I will look into using as I think it really does help for the objects to stand out. For
the colour scheme I chose images that did mainly stick to the colour pallet I had picked out, this helped me to see how it would actually look. I do really like
the colour scheme as it does work really well and does seem to make the game very realistic. I think for my game I will try and use the brighter colour I have
chosen for the objects I want to stand out. This along with the white line will help to ensure that my objects will stand out.
Screenshot Layout 2
This screenshot is the same as the other screenshot I just added more detail so it would be clearer on what happens with the enemy. I found a 8
Bit gun, bullets and an explosion. Then added these to the previous drawing. Ideally my character would always be carrying a gun as having the
animation there would be easier then it suddenly appearing. I think having the explosion in a bright colour also works really well as it makes it
seem like a bigger deal that the character has been killed. If nothing really happened when an enemy was killed the reward wouldn’t be as great
and the player wouldn’t be as motivated to play and kill the characters.
Sound Effects/Dialogue
Sound Effect How You Could Make It
Running Record someone running, this would be best running
through dried leaves as you would not only get the
sound of footsteps but also it would sound more
realistic for the jungle.
Panting Record someone out of breath.
Growling Record someone growling but then edit the
recording to sound more realistic and scary
A ting (for when stars are
collected)
Record the high note on a piano. (this would be a
high, happy noise signifying the players done
something good).
Gun shot This just needs a loud bang so maybe recording of
someone slamming a book on the floor
Explosion This also needs a loud bang so could most likely use
the same recording but edit it to have more of an
impact.

Contingency Planning
Potential Issue Solution
Losing the memory card Back up the work so its not just on the memory
card, e.g. Computer, Google Drive.
Not being able to concentrate Take regular breaks, making sure to walk
around, eat, drink.
Straining eyes – Not being able to work
anymore
Turn brightness down and take regular breaks.
Water being spilt onto computer and breaking
it – losing any work on there
Keep water away from computer and back up
any work.
Losing any unsaved work Save work every ten minutes and then you can
only lose a small portion of your work.
Not being able to get to college I have all the software on my computer at home
so I would still be able to continue working.
Health and Safety
Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
Tripping over computer wires Make sure all wires are kept out of the way of
people walking.
Water being spilt onto the computer Keep water away from the computer.
Tripping over peoples bags Ensure all bags are kept under tables.
Straining eyes Turn brightness down and take regular breaks.
Computer overheating Take regular breaks, leave the computer on
sleep and remember to shut down when
finished.
Headaches Take regular breaks, making sure to walk
around, eat, drink.
