Style sheet - Fonts
I need to decide on a few fonts to use with my products, I have chosen a wide range of fonts
from a site called DaFont, I wanted to have a lot to look at in depth so that I definitely go for the
right fonts and not just the first one I see that I like. What I am looking for is fonts that could
possibly relate to the idea of fractures or abstract. This is because this is what my art focuses on
and I need a font that reflects or works with that.
I chose this font as I think it reflects the idea of fractures and also abstract.
Looking at it instantly draws your attention and I think that could be a useful
effect in my products. The only thing I am worried about is the fact that the
font could distract from the main focus (the artwork), I think it could work for
my products when it isn’t placed with the artwork e.g. not posters, however I
would obviously have to try this out before deciding it wouldn't work.
I chose this one as I think it reflects the idea of art quite well as it
looks like the words have been written with a paintbrush. However I
don’t think that this will work well for my own project as my artwork
is digital and has nothing to do with a paintbrush.
This font is sort of similar to the one above with the idea that it looks
like it has been done by a paintbrush, however it has a more modern
twist. I think that this could potentially work quite well for my
project.
I like this font as although it is very simple it still gains attention as it is
not plain and boring, I think that this could work really well within my
project as it wouldn’t divert any attention but it would still make
people want to read the information.
Although I do like this font I don’t think it is the
best choice for my project as it has a sci-fi,
futuristic look to it that I don’t want to be
associated with my art.
I think this font could potentially work for my
project as it adds a relaxed vibe due to its
handwritten look. It wouldn’t work for a main
headline but it could potentially work for some of
the smaller notices.
I don’t think that this font will work for my project
as I tend to associate this font with medieval
stories, and that’s not what I want my art to be
associated with.
I will have to try this font out before I make up my mind
on it, as it does have the look as if it has been drawn by
a paintbrush which I don’t really like, but it also does
look a little different which could work.
I like this font as it is very modern and slightly abstract.
However I don’t know whether it will work for my project, I
will have to try it out first.
This font wouldn’t work for anything important as it is sort of hard to
read, however I could use this font for if I needed it to look like there
was a signature.
I don’t think that this font will work for my project
as it gives off an elegant vibe which doesn’t fit
what I need for my project.
I like this font as it is bold, the soft curves of the
writing help to soften the boldness of the letters. I
think that this could work as both a headline and a
paragraph font.
I like this font as it is modern without the futuristic
twist that I didn’t like. I think that this font could
work really well within my project.
Style sheet - Fonts
These are the final 9 fonts that I have decided to use within my project. Some of them will only
work for headlines and some will only work for paragraphs and some will work for anything. I
have chosen such a broad range of fonts as I have found that sometimes in previous projects I
have chosen one or two and then when it came to creating the actual product the font didn’t fit
or look good. Hopefully with nine to choose from i wont have this problem.
Style sheet - Colour
For the colour aspect of my project I cant really decide on a colour palette as the look of my products will be designed off of
my artwork. With my artwork I will not be setting a colour theme as I think that, that will restrict me creatively. I also don’t
want to put a colour theme on as all the pieces are meant to be individual and unique. If they are all connected by colour it
makes them less so.
I have included a few previous pieces of work I have created just to show how different all the pieces can turn out.
Regarding the other products I will be creating they too will also not have a colour theme as I don’t know what will look
good and work together well. This is because I need to base the colour of fonts etc. off of the art but the art has not yet
been created so there is nothing to do that with yet. However I do think I will mainly be using black and white. This is
because they are solid base colours, they're also neutral so wont divert or overwhelm the audiences attention
Style sheet – Image Styles
This layout page is for me to put down some ides of the type of images I want to take to create my artwork with. As
the images do get manipulated so much that they are not recognizable when you see the finished product, the
images are not incredibly important. However they need to be of decent quality and give me some sort of inspiration
for an piece of art. Normally when taking pictures I focus on either one of two things, one camera blur or two an
attention grabbing object. Camera blur is fascinating to work with as there is so much going on within the picture that
can be manipulated further. An attention grabbing object also works really well as if you can focus the whole piece
around that one thing.
These are some examples of the pictures I could use for my artwork.
Layout 1 - Artwork
This is an example of the sort of artwork I am
going to be creating. This is a piece of art that I
created about a year ago for another project, but
the technique, style and process have stuck with
me and will be what I use to create my art for
this project. I have included this on the layout as
I am unable to create an actual layout for the
piece as I have no idea how its going to look or
turn out. When creating the art I go for what
feels right and what I think looks good, this can
change quite sporadically throughout the
creating process, so creating a layout plan would
be unhelpful and a waste of time.
However because I have a piece of art that is
similar to what I’m going to create I will be using
it as a sort of layout. I can pick elements from it
that I like and want to replicate in my final piece.
For the making process of this I compile about 10 different photos on top of each other on Photoshop. I then go through and using the magic
eraser tool delete parts of the image this then shows the second image through the first. I go through and do this for all of the images until I’m
happy. Finally I mess around with different effects and colour correction, this final process really helps to bring the whole piece together. This is
the method that I will be using to create my final art pieces. I am looking forward to doing this as I am familiar and comfortable with the process,
comfortable enough to even try new things and bring new elements in, I think having this confidence will help give me the freedom I need to
create something that is worth showing in the art exhibition.
From this piece I really like the sense of movement you get. It is very fast moving and this element helps to draw you into the piece. I also really
like the vibrancy of the colors used I think it helps to make the piece appear to be more ‘alive’. These are things that I will aim to bring into my
final piece.
Layout 2 - Guidebook
Disfracture
An artists guide
by Sumiah Rose
I came up with this design as I wanted to try showing off
several pieces of art instead of focusing on just one. I
wanted to do this to show off more of what could be seen
if you looked in the book.
I used a black background to help the colours in the art
stand out more and white for the text as I think it helps
the text to stand out and grab the audiences attention. As
this is a layout I haven’t developed it very much so if I
were to do this design I would focus on trying to ensure
that the text looked more natural and fitted, rather than it
looking like a rushed job.
I however don’t really like this design, I don’t think it
shows off the art very well as it can only show a little
aspect of each piece and this type of art looks better
when it is showcased as a full piece. It is also not very
engaging with the audience I personally wouldn’t be
interested in looking into this anymore. I also think as I am
planning to only create 10 pieces at most that this sort of
design doesn’t work well for that as already the audience
has seen five of them on the front page.
For this exhibition I think it would work a lot better if I
only showcased one or max two pieces on the front cover.
Layout 2 - Guidebook
Disfracture
An artists guide by Sumiah Rose
I came up with this design after creating the first
guidebook layout. I knew I wanted to focus on one or
two pieces of art for the front cover and the rest of the
design needed to be simple and let the art do the
majority of the talking but still capture the audiences
attention and make them want to pick up the guidebook.
This design works really well and looks professional, this
is due to the simplicity of the design. I started with just
the text in the box but it didn’t seem to engage with the
rest of the piece very well so I decided to add a white
border to the piece but placed it in the middle so the
white of the text box appears throughout the piece so it
engages it more. I had seen this on a few posters and
books alike and though it worked really well so wanted to
use it in my own. I think that the border helped to make
the front cover and pull it all together.
This is a design that I really like and will definitely be
using for my final product as I think it works really well
and looks professional. The only worry that I have with it
is that the new pieces created for this exhibition wont
work as well as this one.
Layout 3 - Merch
The main aspect of my merch is
going to be the T-shirts. I think
that t-shirts are a staple of
anyone's merch, they can easily
worn to promote the exhibition
and artwork and can also be
worn around the exhibition as a
showoff support.
I sued a customable t-shirt site
to create these examples. I
think that it works really well
having a single picture as the
main focus on the front and
then the details on the back. I
used a bold font to stand out
on the back so everyone knows
what it is called. I also included
an Instagram and email link as
this is a form of advertisement.
Layout 3 - Merch
Another aspect of my merch is bags, I have chosen
to focus on simple tote bag designs as these are the
bags that I am into at the moment and also they are
the bags that I think work the best for merch as it
gives you a lot of flat surface area to project what
you want.
The design above was created on a website (the
same one as the t-shirts) I however didn’t think that
it looked very good so I wanted to try something
different. I went onto photoshop as this would allow
me the most freedom in creating merch.
I started with just placing the art onto the bag
without much editing, I edited the writing in and
although that design works perfectly fine I think it
sort of takes away from the excitement. I decided to
mess around with it a bit more, so I added more
layers, changed the opacity etc, so that something
different was created. I actually really like the
second design as I think it looks really cool on the
bag as it sort of seems to fade out at the edges. It
looks like the design belongs on the bag more than
the first design.
Layout 4 - Poster
This is a fairly simple design, but one that would enable me to include a lot of detail and information about the actual exhibition. The pattern on
the D and the F would be the actual artwork it wouldn’t be that yellow colour, I just wanted to use that for demonstration purposes. I think that,
this is a really cool design idea as it shows only shows the viewers a glimpse of what they could see if they came to the exhibition, its like a
tempting tease of what's to come. I think that only showing a glimpse of the full artwork could be quite effective as the audience will want to
come and see the full piece and the rest of the works. I like the simplicity of this design I think it works quite well with the blocks of colour and
the contrasting colours. They wont take away from the artwork that is being shown in the poster as they are neutral, however they still get eye
attention due to the contrast in colours.
The only worry that I have with this poster is that it could be too simple and plain for such an ‘exciting’ exhibition. I don’t know whether this
poster will actually excite people enough to come see the exhibition. With regards to the text I think that posters shouldn't’t really have that
much writing, as you are meant to gain information very quickly from a poster, it shouldn't’t take you ages to find out the information because
there is so much text.
I think that this poster would perhaps work as a secondary design. As in I could have two poster designs circling around, one that has the basic
information on and is bold and eye-catching and the other which is more simple but which has more information on, more like a flat leaflet.
Layout 4 - Poster

This poster is the same in design one of my guidebooks
front covers, I quite like this as it would make the
products look as if they actually were meant to go
together and not like they were created completely
separately.
What I changed about the design is moving the title
text up to the middle, added a text box underneath
where I could add some more information about the
exhibition, and then underneath that two boxes which
would include the dates and times.
I like this design as it is eye-catching and very quick to
the point with the information it includes. I think that
this design does work quite well for a poster as it
allows you to include the basic ad important
information, but it limits it so that no rambling would
be allowed. I also think that using the blocks of colour
with the contrasting text works very well as it allows it
stand out against the background which is very bold
and eye catching, without taking away from it.
Layout 6 – Map
This is one version of a map that I could potentially
create. I used an image from Google as I found that i
could find exactly what I wanted quicker than if I had
created it.
This design is very professional and exact in its
layout, it is quite boring in terms of colour but I think
that the lack of colour in this map actually works
positively as having colour could potentially
overwhelm the audience as they're is already so
much information there that adding colour to that
could just be too much.
I don’t think that this design will work for me and my
exhibition because it looks too much like a floor plan
and not a map there is no excitement there. My
exhibition is going to be very exciting and I need my
products to reflect that. I however do believe that
bring an toned down element of this into my work
would be beneficial as it does look very professional
and I would also like my products to reflect this.
Layout 6 – Map

Room 3
Exhibition Corridor
ExhibitionCorridor
Exit
This is an extremely simple and basic map
that doesn't’ really contain much
information at all. I think that this design is
nice however I think that it is too simple and
a little bit boring. It also lacks the
professional look that the previous map
had. Although this is a simplified layout of a
map I could create I don’t think that this
design would work for me.
I would ideally like more information to be
included in my map, as I think that this
doesn't really tell the audience much at all.
The audience needs to know where they
need to go to see what, and this map
provides that on a very basic level, I want to
go more in-depth.
Layout 6 – Map
After looking at two versions of maps, that both
didn’t really suit what I wanted but each had
element that I liked and wanted to include, I
decided to combine them and see what could be
created.
Again this is an image from Google as it shows
exactly what I want. It has the colour blocks
which adds more interest and visual aesthetics
to the map, but it also has the floor plan, this is a
more simplifies version of the floor plan as the
other one was too much and had to much
irrelevant information. This one keeps the
professional element whilst also not being over
bearing with its information.
I think that this design is the one that I like the
best out of the three as it combines the previous
two together. I think that it works the best as it
looks professional but also doesn’t look too
serious and intimidating.
Favourite Layouts
These are all my favorite layouts that I will be using in my final
product, I am really happy with these as I think that they look
really professional and work together well as a set of products.
I decided to use a piece of my one of my previous art pieces as
the art for these layouts, I think it worked better than using an
image from Google as I could actually look at what I had
created and see how it would work in relation to my own
artwork,
Resources
Equipment/ Props/
Costume needed
Locations needed
Camera Farmland
Computer Town
For my project I do not need a lot of equipment as I am simply going to be taking photos and then editing
these on a computer to create the art/animations. To take the photos I do not need any specialist camera
equipment, I just need a basic camera which I have at home so will not need to rent out from college.
I also do not need lots of different locations as I can create at from any image. I decided to put down
farmland and town as my locations as these are very broad locations and cover almost anything so I will
not be cutting of any opportunities for photography. I live on farmland so that is very easy to access for
me, I also go into town quite a bit so there is no problem with access there either. Because I have decided
on the theme of distortion for my artwork ( the theme coming into place in the editing process of the
production), I do not need to get specific images I can work with nearly anything as long as they are of
high quality.
Contingency Planning
Potential Issue Solution
Memory card becomes full To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as
possible I will be carrying an extra empty memory card. This will
ensure that I have plenty of memory space to take the photos I
need
Camera battery dies To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as
possible I will be carrying an extra battery. This will ensure that I
will definitely have a lot of time available to take the photos I
need.
Camera breaks To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as
possible I have another camera at home and there are also
cameras that I can borrow at college. This will ensure that
production will still be able to continue
Photographs or products get lost on
Mac or get deleted
To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as
possible I will be saving everything I create on multiple platforms;
The computer, USB Stick and the One Drive on the computer. This
will ensure that there is multiple copies of my work so if one is lost
or gets deleted I have backups.
Potential Issue Solution
Feeling ill/Time off college To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as
possible I have the software needed to create my products at
home so it will be possible to continue my work at home.
However if I am too ill to do my work I will be working especially
hard during college hours to get as much work done as possible
so that if I am ill I will already be ahead with my work so wont
have much to catch up on.
Migraine To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as
possible I will be carrying ibuprofen with me in case I do end up
suffering with a migraine. I will also be taking regular breaks to
help prevent one in the first place.
Eye Strain To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as
possible I will be making sure that the computer screen has a
low brightness this will ensure that my eyes are not strained too
much. In my breaks I will also be going outside this will help as it
will be a completely different setting.
Not taking enough photos to create
my products
To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as
possible I will also have to hand some old photos from previous
projects that will be available to use.
Contingency Planning
Health and Safety
Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
Eye strain from looking at the mac for too long when editing To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible I will
have the brightness lower and take regular breaks to reduce the strain on my
eyes
Water near electrical items. To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible keep
water away from electrical applications (on the floor)and keep the lid on.
Repetitive strain injury from constant typing when evaluating or planning To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible take
regular breaks from typing.
Electric shock from loose wires To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible check
wires to see if they are safe to touch before touching them.
Backache from sitting down to long or from taking pictures To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible take
regular breaks, where you’re walking around and doing something different
from sitting down.
Feeling nauseous from being in a classroom without windows for too long To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible I will be
going outside at break to get fresh air.
Tripping when walking and holding the camera. To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible, keep the
camera in a bag when travelling or keep around the neck this will ensure that
if you do trip the camera is in a protected bag and shouldn't’t get too
damaged.
Headache from staring at the computer too long. To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible I will be
carrying ibuprofen with me in case I do end up suffering with a migraine. I will
also be taking regular breaks to help prevent one in the first place.
Health and Safety
Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
Blocked fire exits – Due to all of the electrical equipment there is a risk of
overheating and a fire starting, having the exit blocked would make the
situation very dangerous.
Keeping the exit clear at all times, no bags, chairs, tables, people. Making sure
that if this situation were to occur that people would make their way out in a
single line fashion to avoid a rush of people and people tripping and blocking
the exit.
Strain in legs and feet Take regular breaks where walking is involved so you're legs get a chance to
move around. If it is hard to take regular breaks have some ankle/leg exercises
that can be completed at the desk. Such as ankle rotation.

5. pre production (1)

  • 2. Style sheet - Fonts I need to decide on a few fonts to use with my products, I have chosen a wide range of fonts from a site called DaFont, I wanted to have a lot to look at in depth so that I definitely go for the right fonts and not just the first one I see that I like. What I am looking for is fonts that could possibly relate to the idea of fractures or abstract. This is because this is what my art focuses on and I need a font that reflects or works with that. I chose this font as I think it reflects the idea of fractures and also abstract. Looking at it instantly draws your attention and I think that could be a useful effect in my products. The only thing I am worried about is the fact that the font could distract from the main focus (the artwork), I think it could work for my products when it isn’t placed with the artwork e.g. not posters, however I would obviously have to try this out before deciding it wouldn't work. I chose this one as I think it reflects the idea of art quite well as it looks like the words have been written with a paintbrush. However I don’t think that this will work well for my own project as my artwork is digital and has nothing to do with a paintbrush. This font is sort of similar to the one above with the idea that it looks like it has been done by a paintbrush, however it has a more modern twist. I think that this could potentially work quite well for my project. I like this font as although it is very simple it still gains attention as it is not plain and boring, I think that this could work really well within my project as it wouldn’t divert any attention but it would still make people want to read the information.
  • 3. Although I do like this font I don’t think it is the best choice for my project as it has a sci-fi, futuristic look to it that I don’t want to be associated with my art. I think this font could potentially work for my project as it adds a relaxed vibe due to its handwritten look. It wouldn’t work for a main headline but it could potentially work for some of the smaller notices. I don’t think that this font will work for my project as I tend to associate this font with medieval stories, and that’s not what I want my art to be associated with. I will have to try this font out before I make up my mind on it, as it does have the look as if it has been drawn by a paintbrush which I don’t really like, but it also does look a little different which could work. I like this font as it is very modern and slightly abstract. However I don’t know whether it will work for my project, I will have to try it out first.
  • 4. This font wouldn’t work for anything important as it is sort of hard to read, however I could use this font for if I needed it to look like there was a signature. I don’t think that this font will work for my project as it gives off an elegant vibe which doesn’t fit what I need for my project. I like this font as it is bold, the soft curves of the writing help to soften the boldness of the letters. I think that this could work as both a headline and a paragraph font. I like this font as it is modern without the futuristic twist that I didn’t like. I think that this font could work really well within my project.
  • 5. Style sheet - Fonts These are the final 9 fonts that I have decided to use within my project. Some of them will only work for headlines and some will only work for paragraphs and some will work for anything. I have chosen such a broad range of fonts as I have found that sometimes in previous projects I have chosen one or two and then when it came to creating the actual product the font didn’t fit or look good. Hopefully with nine to choose from i wont have this problem.
  • 6. Style sheet - Colour For the colour aspect of my project I cant really decide on a colour palette as the look of my products will be designed off of my artwork. With my artwork I will not be setting a colour theme as I think that, that will restrict me creatively. I also don’t want to put a colour theme on as all the pieces are meant to be individual and unique. If they are all connected by colour it makes them less so. I have included a few previous pieces of work I have created just to show how different all the pieces can turn out. Regarding the other products I will be creating they too will also not have a colour theme as I don’t know what will look good and work together well. This is because I need to base the colour of fonts etc. off of the art but the art has not yet been created so there is nothing to do that with yet. However I do think I will mainly be using black and white. This is because they are solid base colours, they're also neutral so wont divert or overwhelm the audiences attention
  • 7. Style sheet – Image Styles This layout page is for me to put down some ides of the type of images I want to take to create my artwork with. As the images do get manipulated so much that they are not recognizable when you see the finished product, the images are not incredibly important. However they need to be of decent quality and give me some sort of inspiration for an piece of art. Normally when taking pictures I focus on either one of two things, one camera blur or two an attention grabbing object. Camera blur is fascinating to work with as there is so much going on within the picture that can be manipulated further. An attention grabbing object also works really well as if you can focus the whole piece around that one thing. These are some examples of the pictures I could use for my artwork.
  • 8. Layout 1 - Artwork This is an example of the sort of artwork I am going to be creating. This is a piece of art that I created about a year ago for another project, but the technique, style and process have stuck with me and will be what I use to create my art for this project. I have included this on the layout as I am unable to create an actual layout for the piece as I have no idea how its going to look or turn out. When creating the art I go for what feels right and what I think looks good, this can change quite sporadically throughout the creating process, so creating a layout plan would be unhelpful and a waste of time. However because I have a piece of art that is similar to what I’m going to create I will be using it as a sort of layout. I can pick elements from it that I like and want to replicate in my final piece. For the making process of this I compile about 10 different photos on top of each other on Photoshop. I then go through and using the magic eraser tool delete parts of the image this then shows the second image through the first. I go through and do this for all of the images until I’m happy. Finally I mess around with different effects and colour correction, this final process really helps to bring the whole piece together. This is the method that I will be using to create my final art pieces. I am looking forward to doing this as I am familiar and comfortable with the process, comfortable enough to even try new things and bring new elements in, I think having this confidence will help give me the freedom I need to create something that is worth showing in the art exhibition. From this piece I really like the sense of movement you get. It is very fast moving and this element helps to draw you into the piece. I also really like the vibrancy of the colors used I think it helps to make the piece appear to be more ‘alive’. These are things that I will aim to bring into my final piece.
  • 9. Layout 2 - Guidebook Disfracture An artists guide by Sumiah Rose I came up with this design as I wanted to try showing off several pieces of art instead of focusing on just one. I wanted to do this to show off more of what could be seen if you looked in the book. I used a black background to help the colours in the art stand out more and white for the text as I think it helps the text to stand out and grab the audiences attention. As this is a layout I haven’t developed it very much so if I were to do this design I would focus on trying to ensure that the text looked more natural and fitted, rather than it looking like a rushed job. I however don’t really like this design, I don’t think it shows off the art very well as it can only show a little aspect of each piece and this type of art looks better when it is showcased as a full piece. It is also not very engaging with the audience I personally wouldn’t be interested in looking into this anymore. I also think as I am planning to only create 10 pieces at most that this sort of design doesn’t work well for that as already the audience has seen five of them on the front page. For this exhibition I think it would work a lot better if I only showcased one or max two pieces on the front cover.
  • 10. Layout 2 - Guidebook Disfracture An artists guide by Sumiah Rose I came up with this design after creating the first guidebook layout. I knew I wanted to focus on one or two pieces of art for the front cover and the rest of the design needed to be simple and let the art do the majority of the talking but still capture the audiences attention and make them want to pick up the guidebook. This design works really well and looks professional, this is due to the simplicity of the design. I started with just the text in the box but it didn’t seem to engage with the rest of the piece very well so I decided to add a white border to the piece but placed it in the middle so the white of the text box appears throughout the piece so it engages it more. I had seen this on a few posters and books alike and though it worked really well so wanted to use it in my own. I think that the border helped to make the front cover and pull it all together. This is a design that I really like and will definitely be using for my final product as I think it works really well and looks professional. The only worry that I have with it is that the new pieces created for this exhibition wont work as well as this one.
  • 11. Layout 3 - Merch The main aspect of my merch is going to be the T-shirts. I think that t-shirts are a staple of anyone's merch, they can easily worn to promote the exhibition and artwork and can also be worn around the exhibition as a showoff support. I sued a customable t-shirt site to create these examples. I think that it works really well having a single picture as the main focus on the front and then the details on the back. I used a bold font to stand out on the back so everyone knows what it is called. I also included an Instagram and email link as this is a form of advertisement.
  • 12. Layout 3 - Merch Another aspect of my merch is bags, I have chosen to focus on simple tote bag designs as these are the bags that I am into at the moment and also they are the bags that I think work the best for merch as it gives you a lot of flat surface area to project what you want. The design above was created on a website (the same one as the t-shirts) I however didn’t think that it looked very good so I wanted to try something different. I went onto photoshop as this would allow me the most freedom in creating merch. I started with just placing the art onto the bag without much editing, I edited the writing in and although that design works perfectly fine I think it sort of takes away from the excitement. I decided to mess around with it a bit more, so I added more layers, changed the opacity etc, so that something different was created. I actually really like the second design as I think it looks really cool on the bag as it sort of seems to fade out at the edges. It looks like the design belongs on the bag more than the first design.
  • 13. Layout 4 - Poster This is a fairly simple design, but one that would enable me to include a lot of detail and information about the actual exhibition. The pattern on the D and the F would be the actual artwork it wouldn’t be that yellow colour, I just wanted to use that for demonstration purposes. I think that, this is a really cool design idea as it shows only shows the viewers a glimpse of what they could see if they came to the exhibition, its like a tempting tease of what's to come. I think that only showing a glimpse of the full artwork could be quite effective as the audience will want to come and see the full piece and the rest of the works. I like the simplicity of this design I think it works quite well with the blocks of colour and the contrasting colours. They wont take away from the artwork that is being shown in the poster as they are neutral, however they still get eye attention due to the contrast in colours. The only worry that I have with this poster is that it could be too simple and plain for such an ‘exciting’ exhibition. I don’t know whether this poster will actually excite people enough to come see the exhibition. With regards to the text I think that posters shouldn't’t really have that much writing, as you are meant to gain information very quickly from a poster, it shouldn't’t take you ages to find out the information because there is so much text. I think that this poster would perhaps work as a secondary design. As in I could have two poster designs circling around, one that has the basic information on and is bold and eye-catching and the other which is more simple but which has more information on, more like a flat leaflet.
  • 14. Layout 4 - Poster Disfracture An artists guide by Sumiah Rose Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Vestibulum non mollisex, eu faucibus massa. April 25th Open from 5pm This poster is the same in design one of my guidebooks front covers, I quite like this as it would make the products look as if they actually were meant to go together and not like they were created completely separately. What I changed about the design is moving the title text up to the middle, added a text box underneath where I could add some more information about the exhibition, and then underneath that two boxes which would include the dates and times. I like this design as it is eye-catching and very quick to the point with the information it includes. I think that this design does work quite well for a poster as it allows you to include the basic ad important information, but it limits it so that no rambling would be allowed. I also think that using the blocks of colour with the contrasting text works very well as it allows it stand out against the background which is very bold and eye catching, without taking away from it.
  • 15. Layout 6 – Map This is one version of a map that I could potentially create. I used an image from Google as I found that i could find exactly what I wanted quicker than if I had created it. This design is very professional and exact in its layout, it is quite boring in terms of colour but I think that the lack of colour in this map actually works positively as having colour could potentially overwhelm the audience as they're is already so much information there that adding colour to that could just be too much. I don’t think that this design will work for me and my exhibition because it looks too much like a floor plan and not a map there is no excitement there. My exhibition is going to be very exciting and I need my products to reflect that. I however do believe that bring an toned down element of this into my work would be beneficial as it does look very professional and I would also like my products to reflect this.
  • 16. Layout 6 – Map Reception Exhibition Room 2 toilets Exhibition Room 1 Exhibition Room 3 Exhibition Corridor ExhibitionCorridor Exit This is an extremely simple and basic map that doesn't’ really contain much information at all. I think that this design is nice however I think that it is too simple and a little bit boring. It also lacks the professional look that the previous map had. Although this is a simplified layout of a map I could create I don’t think that this design would work for me. I would ideally like more information to be included in my map, as I think that this doesn't really tell the audience much at all. The audience needs to know where they need to go to see what, and this map provides that on a very basic level, I want to go more in-depth.
  • 17. Layout 6 – Map After looking at two versions of maps, that both didn’t really suit what I wanted but each had element that I liked and wanted to include, I decided to combine them and see what could be created. Again this is an image from Google as it shows exactly what I want. It has the colour blocks which adds more interest and visual aesthetics to the map, but it also has the floor plan, this is a more simplifies version of the floor plan as the other one was too much and had to much irrelevant information. This one keeps the professional element whilst also not being over bearing with its information. I think that this design is the one that I like the best out of the three as it combines the previous two together. I think that it works the best as it looks professional but also doesn’t look too serious and intimidating.
  • 18. Favourite Layouts These are all my favorite layouts that I will be using in my final product, I am really happy with these as I think that they look really professional and work together well as a set of products. I decided to use a piece of my one of my previous art pieces as the art for these layouts, I think it worked better than using an image from Google as I could actually look at what I had created and see how it would work in relation to my own artwork,
  • 19. Resources Equipment/ Props/ Costume needed Locations needed Camera Farmland Computer Town For my project I do not need a lot of equipment as I am simply going to be taking photos and then editing these on a computer to create the art/animations. To take the photos I do not need any specialist camera equipment, I just need a basic camera which I have at home so will not need to rent out from college. I also do not need lots of different locations as I can create at from any image. I decided to put down farmland and town as my locations as these are very broad locations and cover almost anything so I will not be cutting of any opportunities for photography. I live on farmland so that is very easy to access for me, I also go into town quite a bit so there is no problem with access there either. Because I have decided on the theme of distortion for my artwork ( the theme coming into place in the editing process of the production), I do not need to get specific images I can work with nearly anything as long as they are of high quality.
  • 20. Contingency Planning Potential Issue Solution Memory card becomes full To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible I will be carrying an extra empty memory card. This will ensure that I have plenty of memory space to take the photos I need Camera battery dies To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible I will be carrying an extra battery. This will ensure that I will definitely have a lot of time available to take the photos I need. Camera breaks To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible I have another camera at home and there are also cameras that I can borrow at college. This will ensure that production will still be able to continue Photographs or products get lost on Mac or get deleted To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible I will be saving everything I create on multiple platforms; The computer, USB Stick and the One Drive on the computer. This will ensure that there is multiple copies of my work so if one is lost or gets deleted I have backups.
  • 21. Potential Issue Solution Feeling ill/Time off college To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible I have the software needed to create my products at home so it will be possible to continue my work at home. However if I am too ill to do my work I will be working especially hard during college hours to get as much work done as possible so that if I am ill I will already be ahead with my work so wont have much to catch up on. Migraine To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible I will be carrying ibuprofen with me in case I do end up suffering with a migraine. I will also be taking regular breaks to help prevent one in the first place. Eye Strain To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible I will be making sure that the computer screen has a low brightness this will ensure that my eyes are not strained too much. In my breaks I will also be going outside this will help as it will be a completely different setting. Not taking enough photos to create my products To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible I will also have to hand some old photos from previous projects that will be available to use. Contingency Planning
  • 22. Health and Safety Potential Issue How will the issue be avoided? Eye strain from looking at the mac for too long when editing To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible I will have the brightness lower and take regular breaks to reduce the strain on my eyes Water near electrical items. To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible keep water away from electrical applications (on the floor)and keep the lid on. Repetitive strain injury from constant typing when evaluating or planning To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible take regular breaks from typing. Electric shock from loose wires To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible check wires to see if they are safe to touch before touching them. Backache from sitting down to long or from taking pictures To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible take regular breaks, where you’re walking around and doing something different from sitting down. Feeling nauseous from being in a classroom without windows for too long To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible I will be going outside at break to get fresh air. Tripping when walking and holding the camera. To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible, keep the camera in a bag when travelling or keep around the neck this will ensure that if you do trip the camera is in a protected bag and shouldn't’t get too damaged. Headache from staring at the computer too long. To ensure production carries on with as little interruption as possible I will be carrying ibuprofen with me in case I do end up suffering with a migraine. I will also be taking regular breaks to help prevent one in the first place.
  • 23. Health and Safety Potential Issue How will the issue be avoided? Blocked fire exits – Due to all of the electrical equipment there is a risk of overheating and a fire starting, having the exit blocked would make the situation very dangerous. Keeping the exit clear at all times, no bags, chairs, tables, people. Making sure that if this situation were to occur that people would make their way out in a single line fashion to avoid a rush of people and people tripping and blocking the exit. Strain in legs and feet Take regular breaks where walking is involved so you're legs get a chance to move around. If it is hard to take regular breaks have some ankle/leg exercises that can be completed at the desk. Such as ankle rotation.

Editor's Notes

  1. Explore colours, fonts and image styles similar to what you want to produce. Discuss all three elements in relation to why you chose them and where you may use them in your project. Go over as many pages as you need to
  2. Mock up of a potential design using the colours and fonts established in your style sheet and sourced images Alter this slide to make it appropriate for your planned product types. Add further layout slides to create at least one for each product you plan to make.
