Analysis of Northrop Grumman and Raytheon Essay
Introduction
The purpose of this company analysis is to discover why one company would be better to invest in
over the other. The analysis is based on two competing companies within the same industry. While
these two companies compare in products and services, they do not relate in overall size. To assist in
making an educating decision, many areas of each company were looked at. A comprehensive
financial ratio analysis was completed for each company, as well as an evaluation of their strengths,
weaknesses and future opportunities. While it is important to consider how a company manages its
finances, it is equally important to consider its future prospects as well. Below you will find a brief
description of each company, and an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was mostly accomplished through operational improvements and capital deployment actions.
Also, for 2010, they were able to generate $1.9 billion in operating cash flow, have a 14.6% return on
invested capital, and ended the year with almost zero net debt (Request Raytheon). To get a further
look at Raytheon s financial position, the data from a financial ratio analysis can be viewed. To
compare both Raytheon and Northrop Grumman, a financial ratio analysis was constructed for the two
companies. There were 19 total ratios and other financial factor utilized to compare both companies.
Out of all 19, Raytheon was able to best Northrop Grumman in 11. Some of the bigger areas that are
of concern are: current ratio, debt to asset ratio, times interest earned ratio, gross profit rate, and asset
turnover ratio. This is a good accomplishment for a company that sees s much smaller revenues than
many of its competitors. Although the company has much going for it, there are still some concerns
that should be taken into consideration. As mentioned above, the company does see smaller revenues
than many of its competitors. This lower generation of revenues could end up putting the company at
a disadvantage in such a competitive market. Raytheon s size could also lead to a reduction in
bargaining power against its competition (DATAMONITOR). Another weakness is the company s
dependence on government contracts. Since these contracts are

The Nuns Priest s Tale
The Nun s Priest s Tale is an allegory that uses animals with human characteristics in order to portray
the moral of the story. The story centers on a rooster named Chanticleer, who possesses many human
qualities, such as speaking, singing, and the ability to dream. Partlet, a hen, is described as polite,
discreet, debonair, and companionable (153). These are characteristics not typically associated with
animals, which strengthens the message that the animals are representative of humans. Furthermore,
Chanticleer and the other animals display human emotions, such as Chanticleer s fear of his dream,
Partlet s disgust of Chanticleer s fear, and the love that Chanticleer and Partlet feel for one another.
Furthermore, the fox, Sir Russell, also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This moral is illustrated by the events of the tale; Sir Russell flatters Chanticleer by complimenting his
singing, and he tells him to sing with his eyes closed. Chanticleer is very flattered by this and does
what Sir Russell says, allowing Sir Russell to grab Chanticleer and bring him to the woods. After
Chanticleer escapes, Sir Russell tries to trick him once more, but Chanticleer has learned his lesson,
stating I will curse myself . . . if you trick me once more. Never again shall you with your flattery get
me to sing with my eyes closed, (164). Chanticleer singing with his eyes closed is representative of the
ways in which humans can be fooled and deceived when faced with flattery. The moral of the tale is
reinforced by these events, again demonstrating how the story of the animals is representative of
human nature. Moreover, within the main story, there is a discussion of other stories, including
different perspectives on the importance of dreams. Though Partlet believes that there is nothing but
vanity in dreams (154), Chanticleer explains how this is untrue, and in the process, he discusses two
other stories he knows that reinforce his belief that dreams are significant of joy as well as of trouble
(156). The inclusion of these stories reaffirms the depiction of the animals as having human qualities,
as Chanticleer and Partlet discuss the importance of dreams in an intellectual style. This also
reinforces the tale as more than just a story about animals, but rather an important tale about human

Ministry Interview Report
Following and understanding the journeys of the ministers before us is significant in the light of our
own ministry. Each person should look up to a minister in their lives and understand their methods
along with their past and current positions. An interview is one of the best ways to discover these. The
person I interviewed has been my pastor and guide since I was born. He has pastored at Community
Baptist Church, the church I attend, my whole life. He has taught me most of the things I knew
concerning God previous to attending Barclay College. He baptized me when I decided to accept
Jesus as my savior at seventeen years old and helped keep me with Christ throughout the years. This
man s name is Richard Bishop, informally known as Pastor Rick. I inquired of him the answers to four
questions; How long have you been a pastor, and is Community Baptist Church the only one you ve
pastored? , What do you consider to be your philosophy in ministry? , What type of education did you
receive in order to become a pastor? , and, What is the story behind your call to worship? . ... Show

while helping lead students to Christ. Eventually, he felt a calling to come back home to Wyoming to
become a pastor. When he came back, he was assigned to Community Baptist Church to serve as a

Concussions In High School Football
Our society would not be what it is today without the world of sports. In the United States, football
has become an essential part of Sunday plans to over 250 million people. While numerous people of
all ages watch the sport, many people play it as well. This includes over one million high schoolers
who participate in the sport at their schools. For many, football games are some of the most
memorable high school moments. However, football isn t all about the fans and school spirit; the
players themselves face enormous risks just by stepping out on the field. Concussions and other health
concerns have become more common than ever in football, especially with the youth. A concussion is
a traumatic brain injury, and in sports, they are usually caused by an impact or blow to the head. These
injuries leave a lasting impact and can greatly impact one s life. High school football is too dangerous
in today s world due to the extensive and life threatening injuries that commonly occur in the sport.
First and foremost, kids and teens are prone to getting concussions, and they can result in some short
term effects. For example, they are the most notable injury found in young athletes. Out of kids 18 and
under, about 1.1 1.9 million sports related concussions occur every year in the United States alone
(Yang). In addition, there may be some symptoms that occur directly after the incident takes place.
This includes headaches, blurred vision, and nausea. It is also common for a collision to occur and the
athlete remain conscious during the event (CDC). Similarly, there are some different symptoms that
tend to show up shortly after the injury. If someone faces excessive fatigue, sensitivity to light, and
changes in sleep patterns, then there s a possibility that they have suffered from a concussion
(Injuries). Although these short term effects can impact a person s daily life for a little while, the long
term effects are detrimental. Consequently, concussions can cause life changing alterations further on
in time. The real danger lies in repetitive concussions and returning before it has fully healed.
According to Jingzhen Yang, Untreated or improperly managed concussions can increase the risk of

The Impact Of Slavery On Black Families Today
Before I started to read this article, I thought of many ways and experiences of how slavery affected
black families to still have an impact on us today. I feel that, slavery impacted black families strongly.
Some ways slavery impacted black families is by, the way we cook and prepare food, while slaves we
had to find ways to cook food for our family, some other ways slavery has impacted black families
today is also by, bringing black families close together by, giving us the urge to want to know about
our people and where we came from, slavery today has given us independence to work and get our
own, also, one of the most important ways I feel slavery has impacted black families today is by,
bringing us closer to God.

Fritz Lang s Metropolis
It is highly probable that when German Cinema in general is talked about, Metropolis (1927) is one of
the first titles to spring to mind. Fritz Lang is, in his career within and without Germany, a name that
evokes authority in filmmaking.
Premiering in Berlin with Halblutt in 1919, he would never imagine that one day his mind would craft
an epic of the calibre that is Metropolis. A primitive sci fi narrative with daring sets and expansive
cinematography, the magnitude of the film s editing is sheer magic, with well timed shots perfectly
placed to tell a story in silent configuration, yet with a charming expressiveness.
Also daring was its thematic structure, the telling of two lovers from distinct social classes who could

The Importance Of Volunteering In My Community
Community hours; people hear of it and they complain and groan. When people think of volunteering
their time, they would much rather turn a blind eye and walk away. What most people don t know is
that by involving yourself with one s community it can cause a great impact, this impact is necessary
for our communities to grow and become better; however I became one of those individuals who lost
interest in contributing to my community once I began to attend college, I thought to myself that I
didn t have the time or the time that was available I would much rather put it to use doing something
of my liking. Thankfully this semester gave me the opportunity to return to the volunteering in my
community and it made me have a realization. It being an academic necessity to work in my
community I decided to volunteer at a local animal shelter. Taking this opportunity for my classes and
work with animals, it became beneficial for me at the end. Which I have no regret at all. The Humane
Society of Greater Miami was first choice I thought of when volunteering. My friends recommended
me this location after doing their hours in high school. At first I was hesitant of volunteering at this,
because I had no background experience with dogs. Veterinary is my major that I been aiming for ever
since middle school. Living in apartment my only experience was my pet birds and livestock which I
work at a farm. Dogs and birds are completely two different animals as one obviously can fly and the

The Controversial Issue Of Abortion
Abortion On November 23, 2012, the center for disease control release new abortion statistics for
2009 compared with 2008, the number and rate of reported abortions decreased by 5%. There were an
estimated 1.21 million abortions in 2008. You drop the number by 5%, and you still get 1.15 million
abortion. The issue of abortion is a very controversial topic anywhere in the world, but in many
countries abortion is still legal. Is there a justification for stopping a pregnancy? People think that
abortion is a personal decision and that it is their body. The responsibility of what to do with your
body is of each person. In other hand, other people think that a fetus from the moment of creation is a

The Effect Of Glass On Everyday Life
3. Discussion
3.1. Effect of Glass on Everyday Life
Mirrors and their applications were pivotal in the development of the sciences of optics, chemistry and
astronomy (Rasmussen, 2012). It has even been said that the Renaissance and the Scientific
Revolution might not have happened if not for the invention of mirrors (MacFarlane, 2002).
Eyeglasses have been said to be one of the greatest inventions ever because without them, people born
with poor vision not only find performing daily tasks much more difficult, but would also be severely
constrained in terms of the amount of education they can receive and thus in their life opportunities.
This is further underlined when one takes into account the fact that approximately 6 out of 10 people
in the world today either wear glasses, contact lenses, or have previously undergone corrective eye
surgery. Even for those born with good vision, they typically lose their ability to focus by their mid
40s, which means that eyeglasses have considerably lengthened the intellectual lifespan of a person.
The impact of eyeglasses on society thus cannot be understated.
The impacts of the microscope and telescope are massive, especially to the fields of medicine and
science. The modern discoveries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Krill In Antarctica
Antarctic krill are usually less than 6 cm in length but their size belies the major role they play in
sustaining much of the life in the Southern Ocean. They are the primary food source for many species
of whales, seals, penguins and fish.
Studies have shown that stocks of krill in Antarctica have declined dramatically in recent years. The
reason for this is likely to be a fall in the amount of sea ice in the winter months in the Antarctic
Peninsula region.
Krill numbers in this region may have dropped by as much as 80% since the 1970 s so today s stocks
are a mere 1/5th of what they were only 30 years ago. The decline in krill may in turn account for the
decline in the numbers of some penguin species.

thing you could hear for miles. As we ventured across several clear rushing streams, my horse decided

azalea scattered the old dirt trail while the sun peeked through the trees casting shadows. The trail

Franchising Franchising is a business model that allows companies to rapidly expand their market
share. According to Franchise.com (2015), there are three types of franchises: distributorships,
trademark licensing, and business format franchises. When two organizations enter into a
distributorship, the originating company provides the rights another company to sell their products. An
example of a distributorship is when an auto manufacturing company grants rights to a dealership to
sell their vehicles (Franchise.com, 2015). Trademark licensing is when one company allows another
company to use their trademark (Franchise.com, 2015). The business format franchise authorizes
franchisees to sell the parent company s products and/or services as well as utilize their business
model. This type of franchising is the most common and is the type needed to obtain to open a new

Advantage Of Millennials
Broadcast journalist and reporter Morley Safer once stated, The workplace has become a
psychological battlefield, and the millennials have the upper hand because they are tech savvy, with
every gadget imaginable like an extension of their bodies. They multitask, talk, walk, listen, and type,
and text. And their priorities are simple: they come first (Safer). Not everyone sees the benefits of
coexisting with millennials or Generation Y in the workplace. There are several factors that often give
older generations a pause when it comes to welcoming millennials in the workplace, but if they are
given the chance, millennials can bring major advantages to businesses and corporations. Millennials
commonly bring better communication to achieve a shared goal, a more effective and near constant
use of technology, and they are more diverse and racially tolerant than other generations. There are
conflicting opinions about millennials capabilities when speaking and communicating with adults
because they are, in some ways, considered the technology generation. Millennials frequently
communicate through phone calls, Facebook, and text messages, and tend to have little to no in person
communication with their peers or elders. Some feel that millennials do not have the communication
skills that are needed in a work environment because of this. Along with being considered lazy,
narcissistic and entitled millennials have also been named the toughest generation to work with. In

The Benefits of the Atkins Diet Essay
The Benefits of the Atkins Diet
The Atkins diet has been attacked in recent years and been accused of being a fad diet that does not
successfully cause weight loss and is the causes of health problems. The most criticized area of the
Atkins diet is the seemingly unlimited amount of fat and meat that is allowed within the diet. This
unconventional method of weight loss is the center of the animosity towards the Atkins diet. Though
this diet may not be the best method of weight loss for all dieters, it is beneficial and extremely

The high fat content of the diet has caused many opponents of the Atkins diet to jump to the
conclusion that it must cause heart disease. This has been found to be completely untrue. In fact,
research from the New England Journal of Medicine found that several heart disease indicators
actually improved for those on the Atkins diet. They found an increase in serum triglyceride levels and
serum HDL (the good cholesterol) that was greater than those on the low fat diets. They also found
that both diets saw similar decreases in LDL (the bad cholesterol). Therefore, those on the Atkins diet
had a higher increase in good cholesterol that benefits the heart and the same amount of reduction in
bad cholesterol as the low fat diet. Though it would seem intuitively correct to assume that a diet that
is high in fat would cause heart disease, studies have proven that the Atkins diet is actually beneficial
to the heart.
In addition to being beneficial to the heart, the Atkins diet is very successful in losing weight
compared to low fat diets. Several studies have found that after six months those on the low
carbohydrate diets (like the Atkins diet) lost 3.9 kilograms (8.6 pounds) more weight than the low fat
diet group. However, these same studies found that after the participants were on the diets for twelve
months, there was no significant difference in the amount of weight that was lost. This supports the
idea that the Atkins diet is better for

Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison Essay
In Ralph Ellison s novel, Invisible Man, the narrator is a young, African American male who believes
that he is invisible. Throughout the novel, he spends a great amount of time and effort trying to figure
out his identity and find a way to make himself visible in society. One of the narrator s main attempts
brings him to join an organization known as the Brotherhood, where he is able to utilize his talent for
public speaking as an advocate for the Brotherhood and all that they stand for. But even this is not
enough to satisfy the narrator s need for an identity. It is not until the very end, however, that he is able

The entire scene is like that of a terrible nightmare. In a fit of anger, the narrator grabs the spear from
Ras s hand and says:
They want this to happen...They want the streets to flow with blood; your blood, black blood and
white blood, so that they can turn your death and sorrow and defeat into propaganda. (Ellison 558).
After this speech, the narrator takes it upon himself to throw the spear at Ras while he is in mid
sentence. The spear hits him in the jaw, tearing it away. By doing this, the narrator has not only killed
Ras the Exhorter, but he has also committed the act of his own suicide.
Technically, the narrator s speech during the riot scene is directed at Ras. However, he is also talking
to himself about how insignificant he really is. The two men are simply members of the black race,
and who are equally insignificant to the Brotherhood, except as means of propaganda. It is not until
the narrator finally comes to this conclusion about the Brotherhood, that he also realizes that the
mighty Ras is as invisible and insignificant as he is. In the essay The Symbolism of Vision , Charles
Glickberg writes about the riot scene, and comments on the psychological aspects of the narrator s
hatred for Ras. He describes the scene as somewhat of a nightmare and Ras is the monster that the
narrator is trying to destroy. This interpretation of the symbolism behind the narrator s vision of Ras
provides somewhat of an underlying motive

Stricter Gun Control Laws
Do stricter gun control laws, equal less violence and death rates in America?
Gun control (or firearms regulation) is the set of laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale,
transfer, possession, modification, or use of firearms by civilians (Wikipedia). Some presume that this
means banning guns. In actuality, gun control only acts to protect citizens through enforcing the
appropriate use of firearms; it does not ban the weapon. By implementing stricter gun laws and
regulations, there would be a large decrease in death rates and help prevent violence in America.
For instance, the United States Constitution Second Amendment declares that everyone has the right
to bear arms . The United States Constitution was written with the intention of securing all United
States citizens basic rights. Its purpose is to outline the laws of this country by mandating the powers
of the people and what the United States government considers acceptable. Despite this, people feel
the introduction of stricter gun control laws would deny them their sense of safety by violating their
right to defend themselves by the law of the Second Amendment. By allowing everyone including
criminals the ability to gain ownership of a weapon, increases violence and death rates in America.
Therefore, stricter gun control laws and regulations should be implemented. Furthermore, many
people feel that guns are not causing the problems, people that are using these weapons are. This is

Dialectical Journal For Oganda
Page 21 (the ending) ... They continued to run, now faster to avoid the sinking sun. Have faith,
Oganda that thing will not reach us. When they reached the barrier and looked behind them trembling,
only a tip of the sun could be seen above the water s surface. It is gone! It is gone! Oganda wept,
hiding her face in her hands. Weep not, daughter of the chief. Let us run, let us escape. There was
bright lightening. They looked up, frightened. Above them black furious clouds started to gather. They
began to run. Then the thunder roared, and the rain came down in torrents. I chose this passage
because I felt that the main point of the story suddenly changed, which I did not expect, however I
really like the ending as it turned out. The story ends with the two, Oganda and Osinda, escaping ...

There is not a sign that Oganda did sacrifice herself, yet the rain came anyway. The story did not stick
to the main point, which, throughout most of the story, was either Oganda to be sacrificed or the entire
tribe to slowly die because of the drought. For the tribe, she was a hero, and for me, as a reader, she
portrayed this strong woman, who does not go against the ancestors´ words and is ready to die for the
tribe she is a part of. Her being willing to get sacrificed means that she had to say goodbye to her
future. It must be difficult for any young woman like her to watch her future slowly slip away and
know that she will not be there to reach maturity, get married and have children, those were things
Oganda seemed really to want. However, the ending can be interpreted very romantically, as Osinda

Literary Devices In A Doll s House
Analysis of Henrik Ibsen s A Doll House
In A Doll House by Henrik Ibsen was created during 1800s time period. This play helps shine a light
on the gender roles of the 1800s while also creating a twist that was uncommon for this period. During
this time period, women were left home to oversee the domestic duties, while men went to commuted
to work (Hughes). Men were seen as physically superior but morally inferior to women; which is also
portrayed within this book (Hughes). This play marks the beginning of Henrik Ibsen s realist period,
which he explored the ordinary lives of small town people (Kirszner and Mandell 881). This modern
tragedy helped make Ibsen famous internationally because of the real life story it captured (Kirszner
and Mandell 882). Henrik Ibsen uses an array of literary devices to help keep the reader captivated
from beginning to end. Three of the most prominent literary devices used by Henrik Ibsen are
symbolism, foreshadowing, and an array of themes. These literary devices help transform a basic play
into a complex story of lies and deception.
Symbolism is used a lot within in the play and is a figure of speech that is used when an author wants
to create a certain mood or emotion in a work of literature (What is Symbolism in Literature?).
Majority of A Doll House is filled with symbolism that creates an intense emotion for the reader. The
setting of the play is around Christmas Day and is approaching New Year s Day. This holds a lot of
symbolism

The Argument For The Legality Of US State Laws
Right now, somewhere in the world, in the united states, and even this specific state, there is thousands
of innocent dogs living in inhumane conditions that are unfit for healthy substance. They do this
legally, and illegally, and those doing it legally are almost the worst because state laws condone it. The
legislature recognizes that they specifically include, and exclude specific requirements, or restricts
entirely. These dogs not only life in obscene conditions, but they are also there for one specific
horrifying purpose of breeding, but not just regular breeding. These dogs are essentially transformed
into machines, pumping out a minimum of two to three litters a year, just to maintain the current
demand for the perfect puppy. This mass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These dogs live in their own excrements and sometimes within an enclosure with other dogs that have
died do to medical illness, and depending on how long its been sense they ve been checked, they are
forced to be in them with them. These puppymills sell the puppies to petstores, such as commonly
known chains. There are so many ways everyone can help stop this trend. Stop buying dogs, and start
adopting them. 2 million puppies are born each year in puppymills while 1.2 already living dogs are
killed each year in shelters since they have been abandoned and forgotten. Simply adopting dogs from
shelters lessens the reason for breeder s to breed the dogs. Not supporting puppy store directly effects
puppy mills, along with saving the sweet dogs that were left in the shelters. 22 states in the US have
no laws in regards to puppy mills, while the remaining states have laws in place that almost always
aren t held up and are almost comical. The plaid zebra shows a graph that breaks down the different
states laws, while the ASPCA once again breaks this down state by state with what the states specific
regulations are, and what a breeder is defined by as well as their policies on inspections. If you must
adopt a puppy from somewhere, do it where you can see the parents, such as at a reputable

The effects of citric acid on the rheological properties of cornstarch pastes were studied by steady
shear and dynamic oscillatory viscoelasticity, intrinsic viscosity measurements and microscopic
observation. The pH of cornstarch dispersion was adjusted between 6.0 and 3.0. The viscosity of the
pastes was increased by lowering the pH (between 5.5 and 3.6), while the viscosity of samples with
pH below 3.5 decreased further than that of the control (pH ) 6.3). Citric ... Show more content on

poured into glass vessels and cooled in a water bath at 25 °C equipped with a temperature regulator,

The Structure Of The Hip Joint
The hip joint is involved in movement and support of the body. Describe how the structure of the
tissues associated with the joint enable it to function effectively.
Analysing the structure of the hip joint will discover the importance of the joint and the way it helps to
support, stabilise, strengthen and create movement. Areas that will be explored are the skeletal system,
different types of joints and all the tissues involved at the hip joint.
The skeletal system has five main functions which consist of support, movement, protection of organs,
blood cell production and mineral release and storage. The skeletal system is made up of two parts, the
Axial skeleton and the Appendicular skeleton. The Axial skeleton includes of the skull, spine and
ribcage. The Appendicular is made up of the arms, legs, pelvic girdle and pectoral girdle. The human
skeleton is composed of bones and joints. A joint is where two bones meet to enable movement.
Hinge, pivot, gliding, saddle, ellipsoid and the ball and socket are all different types of joints which
can be found in the human body.
Joints are classified by their structure; the hip joint is classified as a synovial joint. As shown in image
1 the synovial joint has a joint cavity which lies between the two bones. This contains the synovial
fluid that lubricates the joint. The fluid is produced by the membrane which lines the cartilage called
the synovial membrane. In certain joints small sack structures called bursas hold the synovial

The Literary Relationship Of Coleridge And Wordsworth
The friendship of Coleridge and Wordsworth is one of the most literary, productive relationships
among the poets of the Romantic Period. Coleridge and Wordsworth were together on daily basis
since July 1797 (Matlak 72). Wordsworth s poetic career was reconstructed, if not entirely created
through the process of a poetic exchange that made his earlier importance an affective power (73). At
the same time, Wordsworth contributed similarly to Coleridge s literary career. For example, many of
Rime of the Ancient Mariner s imagery and narrative events were suggested by Wordsworth (Matlak
83.) An early important example of their literary partnership was their Lyrical Ballads. As this
friendship lasted until the death of Coleridge, many of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Tintern Abbey, Wordsworth fears the loss of his genial spirit and seems to be worried about his
poetic ability. Similarly, Coleridge, in Dejection, admits that his poetic originality is at stake
(Magnuson 15). In the forth stanza, Wordsworth writes, Nor perchance / If I were not thus taught,
should I the more / Suffer my genial spirits to decay (113 115). Likewise, Coleridge, in the third
stanza, writes, My genial spirits fail (39). Actually, both Coleridge and Wordsworth admit that they
have been facing problems with nature. In the beginning of the third stanza, one can feel the sad tone
of Wordsworth s poem. The poet tells us how he lost part of his feelings toward nature. His ideas
become dim and faint. He writes, And now with gleams of half extinguished thought, / With many
recognitions dim and faint, / And somewhat of a sad perplexity (59 61). He cannot feel nature the
same way he used to do as a child. Describing the way he was as a child, the poet says, I cannot paint /
What I was then (76 77). Similarly, Coleridge asserts that he used to view nature differently as a child.
In the beginning of the sixth stanza, he says, There was a time when, though my path was rough, /
This joy within me dallied with distress, / And all misfortunes were but the stuff

Gettysburg Vs Gettysburg
In 1863 after Abraham Lincoln became president, many battles were fought between the Unions and
the Confederates. During the civil war, the two of the most important historical battles in 1863 were
fought in Gettysburg and Vicksburg. Both battles impacted the civil war and as a result of the North s
victory, we are left wondering which battle is the most important. Vicksburg was without doubt an
important aspect of history, however compared to the war in Gettysburg, Gettysburg was defiantly the
most important during the war in 1863 for several reasons. The war in Gettysburg was more important
than Vicksburg because the battle caused more suffering by comparison, it was most known for being
a turning point in the battle after the Gettysburg address speech, and Gettysburg s victory in policies
resulted from the Gettysburg address speech. In comparison, the war in Gettysburg caused more
suffering to the Unions and Confederates than Vicksburg. Both the Union and Confederates faced a
large amount of deaths, wounded, missing and captured soldiers. According to ourdocuments.gov, At
the end of the Battle of Gettysburg, more than 51,000 Confederate and Union soldiers were wounded,
missing, or dead. (Gettysburg Address (1863)). In the article, Gettysburg faced above the estimate
amount of 51,000 causalities. According to nps.gov, Estimated Casualties: 19,233 total (US 10,142;

Negative Implications Of Genetic Engineering
Everyday science and new technology are becoming more popular in society. Biotechnology, more
specific genetic engineering has entered into human diets and on the shelves in the supermarket. New
products are being introduced, which are promoted as more healthy and fresher than ever before.
Genetic modified (GM) foods are those whose genetic makeup has been altered in a way that does not
occur spontaneously.1 This modifying process is taking place in laboratories all around the world.
Genetic modification of foods allows scientists to make changes to flavor, texture, nutritional value
and shelf life of foods. It allows the buildup of insect and disease resistance in plants to boost crop
yield. However, there are varying perceptions of the risks and benefits of genetically engineered foods
and crops.
In the 1990 s genetically engineered crops were introduced for commercial production and has been
adapted by many US farmers today2. Proponents of genetic engineering envision a new green
revolution where plants can be used in ways never before imagined: to protect themselves against
insects and disease, to feed and vaccinate people at the same time, to flourish in poor soil and drought,
or to improve the quantity and bioavailability of individual nutrients3. Others, however, have
expressed concern that the application of genetic engineering to food and agriculture could have
negative potential impacts on human health, the environment, animal welfare, and the socioeconomic

Westernization Is The Result Of The Contact Between...
Westernization is the result of the contact between western and non western cultures. Beginning in the
fifteenth century and playing out until the nineteenth century, colonialism and neo imperialism by
means of the Euro Atlantic economy s authority, played a major part in the spread of western culture.
For example, even after decolonizing and becoming their own countries with their own governance,
many former colonies adopted aspects of western politics, even if they firmly opposed other aspects of
western culture. Twentieth century and twenty first century globalization took various forms. In the
1950s, there was accelerated postwar globalization through American and European multinational
corporations, like McDonald s and mcdonaldization throughout the world. Then, beginning in 1970,
the rise of industrializing economies meant the international division of labor, with low wage and high
wage zones, and in the 1980s, the United States took on an important role in neoliberal globalization
through the Washington Consensus, a reform package designed by Washington D.C. comprised of a
set of specific economic policy prescriptions for critically economically unstable developing
countries, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the World Bank. In 2000, globalization was
heightened through the emergence of the economies of countries including India, China, Brazil, and
Russia (the BRICs). In recent decades, as opposed to during colonial and recent post colonial times,

Descartes Discourse Method
Descartes, A discourse on the method, 1637 coincides with the authors argument the although
Descartes was taught at the best school in England he left without feeling intellectually accomplished,
that he instead had doubts which reviled to him how ignorant he was. That Descartes believing he was
ignorant in order to gain knowledge created a method that could establish absolute truth if only for
himself as although he can try to show others what he believes they have to come to an agreement
with it in order to internalize it. In this method Descartes would disregard his senses and use logic.
Descartes decided that he would not accept everything he was told to be true nor would he trust what

Eros And Cupid Research Paper
Eros and Cupid were both an important part of ancient culture, playing the role of the love god. Eros
name meant love in Greek, and Cupid translates to desire in Latin. Eros was the Greek God of love
and Cupid was the Roman God of love and the Roman version of Cupid. Eros was originally a
primeval god; however, later tradition crowned him to be the son of the Greek Goddess Aphrodite, the
Greek God of beauty. On the other hand, Cupid is a little more mysterious and many theories
circulated about his ancestry. Some people reckon he was the son of Vulcan, the Roman God of Fire,
whilst others say he is the son of Venus. He was often described as handsome young man though in
art, he was portrayed as chubby, winged infant who shoots arrows at people to make them fall in love.

A difference in today s society, who all picture Cupid as a tiny, winged baby that would be that the
Greek version of Eros was never portrayed that way. He was always portrayed as a handsome,
desirable young man able to woo the mortals even without his love inducing quiver. The Greek
version of Eros was also known to be a lot more powerful. Cupid, for instance, was never able to
make people hate each other. This could ve potentially contributed to him being imagined as a chubby
baby, which have connotations to kindness and happiness. Furthermore, Cupid couldn t influence
minds in the way that Eros could and was never a leader. As well as this, Cupid was never speculated
to be the son of Jupiter, like the Greek Eros was sometimes told to be the son of Zeus. Obviously,
there are many similarities between Eros and Cupid. For example, they can both induce love. Another

Christian Beliefs Of The Trinity
A cornerstone teaching of many Christian beliefs is that of the Trinity. It is also a debated and
misunderstood concept. Besides being just outright refuted, there are a couple of ways in which the
Trinity is misunderstood. These misunderstandings can relate to other religions which a person may be
more familiar with, or might believe. God as the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit is a difficult
concept to embrace fully but is not much unlike the concept of understanding an omniscient and
omnipotent being that exists before during and after time. There are several explanations that help our
human brains comprehend the concept and differentiate the Trinity from other religions. Two common
religions view the Trinity as three gods such as Paganism or is one God that reveals himself in three
different forms or persons such as Monism. An individual with a Pagan view might see the Trinity as
three gods. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as separate and different but related gods with the
same purpose. This would be a similar view similar a few that of the Greeks with their many different
God of the Pantheon. A person looking at the Trinity with a background in something like Hinduism,
might see the mentioning of the Trinity and related back to their beliefs or knowledge. Hindu might
see the Father as one God while the Son is a manifestation of the father but not a true God. The same
could be seen for the Holy Spirit. By explaining the Trinity, it is seen of these views are

Summary Of Ordinary Men And Lest Innocent Blood Be Shed
Christopher Browning and Philip Hallie are the authors of Ordinary Men and Lest Innocent Blood Be
Shed respectively. Two extremely interesting books about the World War II and the different behaviors
and reactions of the society during that rough time. On his writing, Browning shows how ordinary
men can change their beliefs and their common sense because of the influence of others. In this book,
soldiers of the WWII were influenced by the government of Hitler. Browning called it atrocity by
policy because the damage caused by soldiers wasn t spontaneous but indeed planned methodically by
the government, they had calculations and plans. In addition, Browning explains how members of the
police battalion (a Nazi paramilitary formation) slowly started enjoying the idea of murder and torture
innocent people. As in combat, the horrors of the initial encounter eventually became routine
(Browning 1992, p. 161). Browning describes the behavior of the policemen as if they didn t have
their own sense of knowing what was right or what was wrong. Perhaps because of legitimate
authority and because, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

To assist in making an educating decision, many areas of each company were looked at. A comprehensive financial ratio analysis was completed for each company, as well as an evaluation of their strengths, weaknesses and future opportunities. Also, for 2010, they were able to generate $1.9 billion in operating cash flow, have a 14.6% return on invested capital, and ended the year with almost zero net debt (Request Raytheon). To get a further look at Raytheon s financial position, the data from a financial ratio analysis can be viewed. To compare both Raytheon and Northrop Grumman, a financial ratio analysis was constructed for the two companies. There were 19 total ratios and other financial factor utilized to compare both companies. Out of all 19, Raytheon was able to best Northrop Grumman in 11. Some of the bigger areas that are of concern are: current ratio, debt to asset ratio, times interest earned ratio, gross profit rate, and asset turnover ratio. This is a good accomplishment for a company that sees s much smaller revenues than many of its competitors. Although the company has much going for it, there are still some concerns that should be taken into consideration. As mentioned above, the company does see smaller revenues than many of its competitors. This lower generation of revenues could end up putting the company at a disadvantage in such a competitive market. Raytheon s size could also lead to a reduction in bargaining power against its competition (DATAMONITOR). Another weakness is the company s dependence on government contracts. • 4. The Nuns Priest s Tale The Nun s Priest s Tale is an allegory that uses animals with human characteristics in order to portray the moral of the story. The story centers on a rooster named Chanticleer, who possesses many human qualities, such as speaking, singing, and the ability to dream. Partlet, a hen, is described as polite, discreet, debonair, and companionable (153). These are characteristics not typically associated with animals, which strengthens the message that the animals are representative of humans. Furthermore, Chanticleer and the other animals display human emotions, such as Chanticleer s fear of his dream, Partlet s disgust of Chanticleer s fear, and the love that Chanticleer and Partlet feel for one another. Furthermore, the fox, Sir Russell, also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This moral is illustrated by the events of the tale; Sir Russell flatters Chanticleer by complimenting his singing, and he tells him to sing with his eyes closed. Chanticleer is very flattered by this and does what Sir Russell says, allowing Sir Russell to grab Chanticleer and bring him to the woods. After Chanticleer escapes, Sir Russell tries to trick him once more, but Chanticleer has learned his lesson, stating I will curse myself . . . if you trick me once more. Never again shall you with your flattery get me to sing with my eyes closed, (164). Chanticleer singing with his eyes closed is representative of the ways in which humans can be fooled and deceived when faced with flattery. The moral of the tale is reinforced by these events, again demonstrating how the story of the animals is representative of human nature. Moreover, within the main story, there is a discussion of other stories, including different perspectives on the importance of dreams. Though Partlet believes that there is nothing but vanity in dreams (154), Chanticleer explains how this is untrue, and in the process, he discusses two other stories he knows that reinforce his belief that dreams are significant of joy as well as of trouble (156). The inclusion of these stories reaffirms the depiction of the animals as having human qualities, as Chanticleer and Partlet discuss the importance of dreams in an intellectual style. This also reinforces the tale as more than just a story about animals, but rather an important tale about human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Ministry Interview Report Following and understanding the journeys of the ministers before us is significant in the light of our own ministry. Each person should look up to a minister in their lives and understand their methods along with their past and current positions. An interview is one of the best ways to discover these. The person I interviewed has been my pastor and guide since I was born. He has pastored at Community Baptist Church, the church I attend, my whole life. He has taught me most of the things I knew concerning God previous to attending Barclay College. He baptized me when I decided to accept Jesus as my savior at seventeen years old and helped keep me with Christ throughout the years. This man s name is Richard Bishop, informally known as Pastor Rick. I inquired of him the answers to four questions; How long have you been a pastor, and is Community Baptist Church the only one you ve pastored? , What do you consider to be your philosophy in ministry? , What type of education did you receive in order to become a pastor? , and, What is the story behind your call to worship? . ... Thus leading to his participation in an Interdenominational Christian Fellowship there on campus that helped train and teach student leaders to lead other students to fellowship in Jesus Christ. Their goal was to administer evangelism, discipleship, and ministry while helping lead students to Christ. Eventually, he felt a calling to come back home to Wyoming to become a pastor. When he came back, he was assigned to Community Baptist Church to serve as a pastor. He has now been there for twenty years and will not be retiring any time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the United States, football has become an essential part of Sunday plans to over 250 million people. While numerous people of all ages watch the sport, many people play it as well. This includes over one million high schoolers who participate in the sport at their schools. For many, football games are some of the most memorable high school moments. However, football isn t all about the fans and school spirit; the players themselves face enormous risks just by stepping out on the field. Concussions and other health concerns have become more common than ever in football, especially with the youth. A concussion is a traumatic brain injury, and in sports, they are usually caused by an impact or blow to the head. These injuries leave a lasting impact and can greatly impact one s life. High school football is too dangerous in today s world due to the extensive and life threatening injuries that commonly occur in the sport. First and foremost, kids and teens are prone to getting concussions, and they can result in some short term effects. For example, they are the most notable injury found in young athletes. Out of kids 18 and under, about 1.1 1.9 million sports related concussions occur every year in the United States alone (Yang). In addition, there may be some symptoms that occur directly after the incident takes place. This includes headaches, blurred vision, and nausea. It is also common for a collision to occur and the athlete remain conscious during the event (CDC). Similarly, there are some different symptoms that tend to show up shortly after the injury. If someone faces excessive fatigue, sensitivity to light, and changes in sleep patterns, then there s a possibility that they have suffered from a concussion (Injuries). Although these short term effects can impact a person s daily life for a little while, the long term effects are detrimental. Consequently, concussions can cause life changing alterations further on in time. The real danger lies in repetitive concussions and returning before it has fully healed. Fritz Lang is, in his career within and without Germany, a name that evokes authority in filmmaking. Premiering in Berlin with Halblutt in 1919, he would never imagine that one day his mind would craft an epic of the calibre that is Metropolis. A primitive sci fi narrative with daring sets and expansive cinematography, the magnitude of the film s editing is sheer magic, with well timed shots perfectly placed to tell a story in silent configuration, yet with a charming expressiveness. When people think of volunteering their time, they would much rather turn a blind eye and walk away. What most people don t know is that by involving yourself with one s community it can cause a great impact, this impact is necessary for our communities to grow and become better; however I became one of those individuals who lost interest in contributing to my community once I began to attend college, I thought to myself that I didn t have the time or the time that was available I would much rather put it to use doing something of my liking. It being an academic necessity to work in my community I decided to volunteer at a local animal shelter. Taking this opportunity for my classes and work with animals, it became beneficial for me at the end. Which I have no regret at all. Effect of Glass on Everyday Life Mirrors and their applications were pivotal in the development of the sciences of optics, chemistry and astronomy (Rasmussen, 2012). It has even been said that the Renaissance and the Scientific Revolution might not have happened if not for the invention of mirrors (MacFarlane, 2002). Eyeglasses have been said to be one of the greatest inventions ever because without them, people born with poor vision not only find performing daily tasks much more difficult, but would also be severely constrained in terms of the amount of education they can receive and thus in their life opportunities. This is further underlined when one takes into account the fact that approximately 6 out of 10 people in the world today either wear glasses, contact lenses, or have previously undergone corrective eye surgery. Even for those born with good vision, they typically lose their ability to focus by their mid 40s, which means that eyeglasses have considerably lengthened the intellectual lifespan of a person. They are the primary food source for many species of whales, seals, penguins and fish. Studies have shown that stocks of krill in Antarctica have declined dramatically in recent years. Krill numbers in this region may have dropped by as much as 80% since the 1970 s so today s stocks are a mere 1/5th of what they were only 30 years ago. Not everyone sees the benefits of coexisting with millennials or Generation Y in the workplace. There are several factors that often give older generations a pause when it comes to welcoming millennials in the workplace, but if they are given the chance, millennials can bring major advantages to businesses and corporations. Millennials commonly bring better communication to achieve a shared goal, a more effective and near constant use of technology, and they are more diverse and racially tolerant than other generations. There are conflicting opinions about millennials capabilities when speaking and communicating with adults because they are, in some ways, considered the technology generation. Millennials frequently communicate through phone calls, Facebook, and text messages, and tend to have little to no in person communication with their peers or elders. This has been found to be completely untrue. In fact, research from the New England Journal of Medicine found that several heart disease indicators actually improved for those on the Atkins diet. They found an increase in serum triglyceride levels and serum HDL (the good cholesterol) that was greater than those on the low fat diets. They also found that both diets saw similar decreases in LDL (the bad cholesterol). Therefore, those on the Atkins diet had a higher increase in good cholesterol that benefits the heart and the same amount of reduction in bad cholesterol as the low fat diet. Though it would seem intuitively correct to assume that a diet that is high in fat would cause heart disease, studies have proven that the Atkins diet is actually beneficial to the heart. In addition to being beneficial to the heart, the Atkins diet is very successful in losing weight compared to low fat diets. Several studies have found that after six months those on the low carbohydrate diets (like the Atkins diet) lost 3.9 kilograms (8.6 pounds) more weight than the low fat diet group. • 22. Stricter Gun Control Laws Do stricter gun control laws, equal less violence and death rates in America? Gun control (or firearms regulation) is the set of laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale, transfer, possession, modification, or use of firearms by civilians (Wikipedia). Some presume that this means banning guns. In actuality, gun control only acts to protect citizens through enforcing the appropriate use of firearms; it does not ban the weapon. By implementing stricter gun laws and regulations, there would be a large decrease in death rates and help prevent violence in America. For instance, the United States Constitution Second Amendment declares that everyone has the right to bear arms . The United States Constitution was written with the intention of securing all United States citizens basic rights. Its purpose is to outline the laws of this country by mandating the powers of the people and what the United States government considers acceptable. Despite this, people feel the introduction of stricter gun control laws would deny them their sense of safety by violating their right to defend themselves by the law of the Second Amendment. By allowing everyone including criminals the ability to gain ownership of a weapon, increases violence and death rates in America. Therefore, stricter gun control laws and regulations should be implemented. Furthermore, many people feel that guns are not causing the problems, people that are using these weapons are. This play helps shine a light on the gender roles of the 1800s while also creating a twist that was uncommon for this period. During this time period, women were left home to oversee the domestic duties, while men went to commuted to work (Hughes). Men were seen as physically superior but morally inferior to women; which is also portrayed within this book (Hughes). This play marks the beginning of Henrik Ibsen s realist period, which he explored the ordinary lives of small town people (Kirszner and Mandell 881). This modern tragedy helped make Ibsen famous internationally because of the real life story it captured (Kirszner and Mandell 882). Henrik Ibsen uses an array of literary devices to help keep the reader captivated from beginning to end. Three of the most prominent literary devices used by Henrik Ibsen are symbolism, foreshadowing, and an array of themes. These literary devices help transform a basic play into a complex story of lies and deception. Symbolism is used a lot within in the play and is a figure of speech that is used when an author wants to create a certain mood or emotion in a work of literature (What is Symbolism in Literature?). Similarly, Coleridge, in Dejection, admits that his poetic originality is at stake (Magnuson 15). In the forth stanza, Wordsworth writes, Nor perchance / If I were not thus taught, should I the more / Suffer my genial spirits to decay (113 115). Likewise, Coleridge, in the third stanza, writes, My genial spirits fail (39). Actually, both Coleridge and Wordsworth admit that they have been facing problems with nature. In the beginning of the third stanza, one can feel the sad tone of Wordsworth s poem. The poet tells us how he lost part of his feelings toward nature. His ideas become dim and faint. He writes, And now with gleams of half extinguished thought, / With many recognitions dim and faint, / And somewhat of a sad perplexity (59 61). He cannot feel nature the same way he used to do as a child. Describing the way he was as a child, the poet says, I cannot paint / What I was then (76 77). Similarly, Coleridge asserts that he used to view nature differently as a child. In the beginning of the sixth stanza, he says, There was a time when, though my path was rough, / This joy within me dallied with distress, / And all misfortunes were but the stuff ... • 32. Negative Implications Of Genetic Engineering Everyday science and new technology are becoming more popular in society. Biotechnology, more specific genetic engineering has entered into human diets and on the shelves in the supermarket. New products are being introduced, which are promoted as more healthy and fresher than ever before. Genetic modified (GM) foods are those whose genetic makeup has been altered in a way that does not occur spontaneously.1 This modifying process is taking place in laboratories all around the world. Genetic modification of foods allows scientists to make changes to flavor, texture, nutritional value and shelf life of foods. It allows the buildup of insect and disease resistance in plants to boost crop yield. However, there are varying perceptions of the risks and benefits of genetically engineered foods and crops. In the 1990 s genetically engineered crops were introduced for commercial production and has been adapted by many US farmers today2. Proponents of genetic engineering envision a new green revolution where plants can be used in ways never before imagined: to protect themselves against insects and disease, to feed and vaccinate people at the same time, to flourish in poor soil and drought, or to improve the quantity and bioavailability of individual nutrients3. Others, however, have expressed concern that the application of genetic engineering to food and agriculture could have negative potential impacts on human health, the environment, animal welfare, and the socioeconomic ... • 33. Westernization Is The Result Of The Contact Between... Westernization is the result of the contact between western and non western cultures. Beginning in the fifteenth century and playing out until the nineteenth century, colonialism and neo imperialism by means of the Euro Atlantic economy s authority, played a major part in the spread of western culture. For example, even after decolonizing and becoming their own countries with their own governance, many former colonies adopted aspects of western politics, even if they firmly opposed other aspects of western culture. Twentieth century and twenty first century globalization took various forms. In the 1950s, there was accelerated postwar globalization through American and European multinational corporations, like McDonald s and mcdonaldization throughout the world. Then, beginning in 1970, the rise of industrializing economies meant the international division of labor, with low wage and high wage zones, and in the 1980s, the United States took on an important role in neoliberal globalization through the Washington Consensus, a reform package designed by Washington D.C. comprised of a set of specific economic policy prescriptions for critically economically unstable developing countries, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the World Bank. In 2000, globalization was heightened through the emergence of the economies of countries including India, China, Brazil, and Russia (the BRICs). Descartes Discourse Method Descartes, A discourse on the method, 1637 coincides with the authors argument the although Descartes was taught at the best school in England he left without feeling intellectually accomplished, that he instead had doubts which reviled to him how ignorant he was. That Descartes believing he was ignorant in order to gain knowledge created a method that could establish absolute truth if only for himself as although he can try to show others what he believes they have to come to an agreement with it in order to internalize it. In this method Descartes would disregard his senses and use logic. Descartes decided that he would not accept everything he was told to be true nor would he trust what he perceived to be true because he, like everyone else, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Eros And Cupid Research Paper Eros and Cupid were both an important part of ancient culture, playing the role of the love god. Eros name meant love in Greek, and Cupid translates to desire in Latin. Eros was the Greek God of love and Cupid was the Roman God of love and the Roman version of Cupid. Eros was originally a primeval god; however, later tradition crowned him to be the son of the Greek Goddess Aphrodite, the Greek God of beauty. On the other hand, Cupid is a little more mysterious and many theories circulated about his ancestry. Some people reckon he was the son of Vulcan, the Roman God of Fire, whilst others say he is the son of Venus. He was often described as handsome young man though in art, he was portrayed as chubby, winged infant who shoots arrows at people to make them fall in love. Eros was a Primordial God, being the fourth God to come into existence after Tartarus. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A difference in today s society, who all picture Cupid as a tiny, winged baby that would be that the Greek version of Eros was never portrayed that way. He was always portrayed as a handsome, desirable young man able to woo the mortals even without his love inducing quiver. The Greek version of Eros was also known to be a lot more powerful. Cupid, for instance, was never able to make people hate each other. This could ve potentially contributed to him being imagined as a chubby baby, which have connotations to kindness and happiness. Furthermore, Cupid couldn t influence minds in the way that Eros could and was never a leader. As well as this, Cupid was never speculated to be the son of Jupiter, like the Greek Eros was sometimes told to be the son of Zeus. Obviously, there are many similarities between Eros and Cupid. For example, they can both induce love. Another thing is that both their names translate to something along the lines of love in their respective ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Christian Beliefs Of The Trinity A cornerstone teaching of many Christian beliefs is that of the Trinity. It is also a debated and misunderstood concept. Besides being just outright refuted, there are a couple of ways in which the Trinity is misunderstood. These misunderstandings can relate to other religions which a person may be more familiar with, or might believe. God as the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit is a difficult concept to embrace fully but is not much unlike the concept of understanding an omniscient and omnipotent being that exists before during and after time. There are several explanations that help our human brains comprehend the concept and differentiate the Trinity from other religions. Two common religions view the Trinity as three gods such as Paganism or is one God that reveals himself in three different forms or persons such as Monism. An individual with a Pagan view might see the Trinity as three gods. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as separate and different but related gods with the same purpose. This would be a similar view similar a few that of the Greeks with their many different God of the Pantheon. A person looking at the Trinity with a background in something like Hinduism, might see the mentioning of the Trinity and related back to their beliefs or knowledge. Hindu might see the Father as one God while the Son is a manifestation of the father but not a true God. The same could be seen for the Holy Spirit. By explaining the Trinity, it is seen of these views are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Summary Of Ordinary Men And Lest Innocent Blood Be Shed Christopher Browning and Philip Hallie are the authors of Ordinary Men and Lest Innocent Blood Be Shed respectively. Two extremely interesting books about the World War II and the different behaviors and reactions of the society during that rough time. On his writing, Browning shows how ordinary men can change their beliefs and their common sense because of the influence of others. In this book, soldiers of the WWII were influenced by the government of Hitler. Browning called it atrocity by policy because the damage caused by soldiers wasn t spontaneous but indeed planned methodically by the government, they had calculations and plans. In addition, Browning explains how members of the police battalion (a Nazi paramilitary formation) slowly started enjoying the idea of murder and torture innocent people. As in combat, the horrors of the initial encounter eventually became routine (Browning 1992, p. 161). Browning describes the behavior of the policemen as if they didn t have their own sense of knowing what was right or what was wrong. Perhaps because of legitimate authority and because, ...
