A Joint Venture With Pernod Ricard
The Republic of Poland, also known by its shortened name of Poland, has strong ties to the United
States. America has been a very powerful ally to Poland for many years. The spirits sector of Poland s
alcohol market is quickly growing with the vodka segment as one of the country s largest sources of
income. As a lucrative business already established in the US and attempting to enter Polish markets,
we will enter a joint venture with Pernod Ricard, a very successful alcohol and spirits company with
operations here in America and abroad in Poland. Through an in depth look at Poland s spirits market
we will provide support for why we are choosing to enter Poland through a joint venture and how we
plan to control our abroad operations. A strategic plan detailing how we will use our joint venture and
then market, position, price, and promote our products are also included..
Pernod Ricard is an extablished alcohol and spirits company with operations in both the US and in
Poland. In the past it has entered two lucrative joint ventures. The first took place in 1993 with
Havana Club International, which was a 50/50 joint venture (Pernod Ricard, 18). In 2011 Pernod
Ricard entered into a joint venture with Tequila Avión but it only held a minority percentage of 20% in
this joint venture until recently (Viladon). In July 2014, it spent approximately $100 million to gain
the majority share in this joint venture giving it control with 84% (Viladon). With this joint venture

Analysis Of Ibn Haldun And Adam Smith And David Hume And...
It is one of the hardest questions and unfortunately still unknown in the living world in despite of a
myriad of academic studies. Many scholars from all around world asked this magic question in
different time over the history. From Ibn Haldun and Adam Smith to David Hume and Karl Marx,
from Alfred Marshall and Robert Solow to Paul Romer and Daron Acemoglu, there have been so
many prominent and distinguished scholars who tried to find an answer to this question in order to
understand the world better and some of them are still trying to find a fully satisfactory answer about
this one of the most interesting and challenging areas in academic studies. Here is an example of one
the answer to show that it is old question. Ibn Khaldun gave his account of the stages of economic
development, from nomadic to agricultural to more cooperation in economic matters which occur
through an expansion of a town to a city, where demand increases and skilled labor congregates and
expands production both ill quantity and in refinement. Economic growth continues so long as there is
an extra effort, which creates capital accumulation, which in turn, combined with effort, leads to more
production and the development of crafts in the cities. Wealth expands through labor and its efforts,
whereas with less human effort there may occur a reversal to stagnation, followed by a downward
trend in people s standard of living. (I.W. Oweiss). Needless to say, it would be too much to explain

Euthyphro s Definition Of Piety
According to Dr. Youngs lecture, piety is a term that refers to what it means to be good or holy in the
eyes of the gods. Within Plato s Euthyphro dialogue, Socrates is looking for a definition of piety in
order to better develop his knowledge as a philosopher. Euthyphro tries to give Socrates several
definitions of piety. Euthyphro gives five different definitions of piety, all of which I feel were all
subpar definitions. I will argue that Euthyphro does not give Socrates a satisfactory definition of piety.
I will argue this by pointing out several instances in the text in which Socrates disputes Euthyphro s
definitions and why I think he disputes them.
The first definition of piety Euthyphro gave Socrates was not even a true definition, ... Show more

Socrates said, ...where there is piety there is also justice, but where there is justice there is not always
piety, for the pious is a part of justice. Shall we say that, or do you think otherwise? (Socrates, 15).
Euthyphro agrees and then suggests that piety is simply taking care of the gods: I think, Socrates, that
the godly and pious is the part of the just that is concerned with the care of the gods, while that
concerned with the care of men is the remaining part of justice (Euthyphro, 16). Socrates quickly
rejects this on the basis that taking care of the Gods would be concerned with making the Gods better .
Socrates uses the example of caring for animals to illustrate his point. He said, So dogs are benefitted
by dog breeding, cattle by cattle raising, and so with all the others. Or do you think that care aims to
harm the object of its care? (Socrates, 17). Euthyphro objects and says that these acts aim to benefit
these animals. So Socrates says, Is piety then, which is the care of the gods, also to benefit the gods
and make them better? Would you agree that when you do something pious you make some of the
gods better? (Socrates, 17). Euthyphro claims that caring for the gods involves the kind of care that
slaves take of their masters (Euthyphro, 17). When questioned by Socrates as to exactly what is the
definition of piety using this logic, Euthyphro can only return back to his earlier claim: piety is what is
loved by all the gods. I say that is a man knows how to say and do what is pleasing to the gods at
prayer and sacrifice, those are pious actions such as preserve both private houses and public affairs of
state. The opposite of these pleasing actions are impious and overturn and destroy everything

Racial Profiling and Male African Americans
Racial Profiling and Male African Americans
Racial profiling has been and will continue to be a problem in the United States. Many believe that
racial profiling is more prevalent in today s society; however, this issue has been a part of our society
since slavery. Moreover, African American males are mostly the targets of racial profiling, especially
in larger cities like New York City and Los Angeles. Racial profiling is becoming a huge problem
within the police departments. Police officers are conducting more traffic stops on African Americans
males than on any other racial group, for the reason that many police officers believe African
Americans males are most likely to be engaged in some sort of criminal activity. Thus, racial ... Show

The principle of law enforcement and the principle of equality among African American males make
this issue even more difficult to analyze (Persico, 2002).
According to Delores (2007), although, many things in policing have changed as far as policies goes,
many things will remain the same. Changes to the police policy were to improve the image of police
in certain communities, and impact citizens in a positive way through trust and satisfaction. However,
Delores (2007) states, officers perceive African American males as people who are capable of
wrongdoing even though a crime has yet to be committed. In addition, in noncriminal or minimal
criminal activities police view male African Americans as the most dangerous. Police officers
developed ways to recognize certain kind of people, as emblematic assailants, meaning, police
recognize the gesture, attire, language of a person, which is then perceive as a prelude to violence.
However, sometimes officers make mistakes and innocent citizens like African American males end
up paying the ultimate price. In 1998, four African American males name Keyshon Moore, Rayshawn
Brown, LeRoy Jarmaine Grant and Danny Reyes all fell victims to racial profiling. The four victims

History Of The Insanity Plea
The insanity plea has been around since 1843 when it was first used in London during the M Naghten
case. The insanity plea made its first appearance in the United States in 1859 after Congressman
Daniel Sickles murdered the man who his wife was having an affair with. However, a more recent and
rather public use of the insanity plea is against James Eagan Holmes. James is being charged with
murder and attempted murder after he maliciously attacked an Aurora Colorado movie theatre in 2012.
James shot and killed 12 people and wounded 70 others. According to one source (2011, Black s Law,
Bryan A. Garner) insanity is Any mental disorder sever enough that it prevents a person from having
legal capacity and excuses the person from criminal or civil responsibility, insanity is a legal, not a
medical, standard. Another source states In order for one person to be considered for the insanity plea,
they must have a psychiatric evaluation and prove they were insane during the committing of the
crime. (1965, Psychiatric Justice, Thomas S. Szasz, M.D) If someone pleads not guilty by reason of
insanity, than they undergo mental rehabilitation. The length of time in the mental rehabilitation is
determined by how long it takes the individual to be mentally prepared to re appear in court. After the
individual is fit for re trial, the individual returns to court and will than plead guilty or not guilty. In
most trials, the defendant serves a punishment that is not as severe as it was

Development Of The Human Brain
Development of the brain The human brain is the most complex structure in the universe. We are still
unsure of its complexity today. The human brain begins forming very early in prenatal life ( just three
weeks after conception), but in many ways, brain development is a lifelong project. That is because
the same events that shape the brain during development are also responsible for storing information,
new skills and memories throughout life. (Zerotothree.org). Thesis statement (what is your paper
going to discuss)
Development all starts the moment of conception. According to the information provided by Modern
mom, By the time you are three weeks pregnant, the developing embryo has formed a neural groove,
which is the foundation for the brain structure. By the time your baby is born, their brain will have
over 100 billion neurons. By birth, only the lower portions of the nervous system (the spinal cord and
brain stem) are well developed, whereas the higher regions (the limbic system and cerebral cortex) are
still rather primeval. The lower brain is in control of the newborn s behavior, such as the kicking,
crying, and grasping. These behaviors are the functions of the brainstem and spinal cord. This includes
the visual behavior their ability to track a moving object. Cite Info

The Flower Industry
1. Is flower an emotional product? Why or why not? Flower is a very emotional product because the
customer s purchase flower s for special occasions. They are so attached to the color of the flower
because it represents a valuable treasure to them. For example, during the period of valentine s roses
are in high demand. Spouse s, Girlfriend/boyfriend usually purchase roses to celebrate this special
holiday with their love one. The rose will serve as the symbol of love, care, appreciation, and integrity
to one another. Another example that demonstrates the idea of flower been an emotional product is the

3. What is the size for flower market? Who are the main supplier countries? And who are the main

The main suppliers are the Equator, Netherlands, France, Italy, Mexico, Germany, etc. the main buyers
are the U.S., Russia, etc. the market is pretty big but the risk are high as well. In order for the company
to survive it must maintain a very efficient supply chain from the producer to the consumer. Equator
who is big supplier of flower in the world enjoys quite a competitive advantage in relation to its main
competitors. Equator has cheap labor cost, 12 hour a day sun, and the fact that farms are very close to
the airport. But in recent years these competitive advantages have been matched by other producer in
North Africa, Asia, Colombia, India and more recently China. China, India, and Colombia focus on
producing great quantity of flower at a lower cost whereas Equator focuses in producing its flower in
high quality rather than quantity. The pick of the market is around the month of February. During this
time the price of flower tends to rise due to the heavy demand allowing companies to generate 1/3 of
their revenue around this time. Equator supplies 25% of the rose in the world. For every 1 flower sold
in France there are 19 sold in

Heidi Wilson Research Paper
The Unforgettable Moment of Heidi Wilson
In the beautiful town of Aspen, Colorado there is a girl named Heidi Wilson who was 22, and had a
dream of going to the Olympics as a skier. She has blue eyes and brown hair. Also Heidi Wilson was a
very happy girl with a high GPA, but never really wanted to do anything but ski. The day had finally
come and Heidi Wilson was going to the Olympics, but before she could do anything she had to prove
that she was good enough. That she did.

As Heidi arrived at the Olympic stadium, she unpacked, took a shower, and got dressed to watch the
Olympics. While the Olympic ceremony was going on, the reporter mentioned Heidi and was very
sorry that she couldn t compete. Then the Olympics went on, and fans of Heidi s asked for autographs
and she did sign all of them.
On her way home from the Olympics the doctor called and told her that if she wanted to continue to
ski she would have to take physical therapy. After Heidi was home, she went to physical therapy. After
ten long weeks of physical therapy, her therapist said she would be able to ski next season.

The next ski season arrived. Heidi was a bit nervous to get back on the hill. She hadn t been on a ski
hill since her accident. She took it slow at first, but as the day went on she went for the bigger and
harder runs. After the day as over, Heidi had done the run she crashed on and beat her time by 15

An Hour Response
In Story of an Hour , written by Kate Chopin, there were quite a few unexpected events. Initially, I
expected the story to be longer than two pages. I also thought that the story s name could have been
different. For example, the story instantly starts off by talking about Mrs. Mallard s heart problem, and
that fact is repeated throughout the story. Why not title it something like Matters of the Heart ? But,
after reading the story I realized that time is an important aspect of the story all the events in the story
happen within the hour, and Mrs. Mallard mentions time on multiple occasions She breathed a quick
prayer that life might be long. It was only yesterday she had thought with a shudder that life might be
long (Page 279). In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe that the first theme this story shows is that life can change in an instant. This shows multiple
times throughout the story, such as when it was believed that Mr. Mallard died With Brently Mallard
leading under the list of killed (Page 278) or when Mrs. Mallard did actually die When the doctors
came they said she had died of heart disease of joy that kills (Page 280). This leads me to my second
theme, which is to not take things for granted. Mrs. Mallard might not have loved her husband the way
he had loved her, but she expected to see him come home that day. The same could be said when Mrs.
Mallard was comprehending her newfound freedom she had hoped for (and expected to) live a life
after her husband had died Spring days, and summer days, and all sorts of days that would be her own
(Page 279). On a lighter note, the third theme I believed was in this story was to not jump to
conclusions unless you see it for yourself. Mrs. Mallard believed that her husband had died because
her husband s name was in the newspaper on the list of those killed in a rail accident. Obviously, the
mistake was not intentional, but it had severe results. I also believe that this story s message was
mainly a bash on society as a whole. This story reflects how society treated women in the 1800s which
was not good. Back then, women were treated horribly and granted, things are not perfect now, but

Piety And Its Role As Powerful Positions During The Period...
Piety and its Role in Powerful Positions
During the period of early Arab conquests, massive transformations were taking place as a new great
confessional empire was emerging. During this time many conflicts and questions arose. Who is the
rightful Caliph once the prophet Muhammad dies? What makes a good Caliph? What is to be done
with the non Muslims? What does it mean to be a Muslim? One of the major themes that arose from
these questions was the importance of being pious when holding some form of power, whether
political or military. Primary sources demonstrate how this theme has come to fruition, such as in a
letter to the Caliph Umar II, and Tabari s The History of Prophet s and Kings. The letter to Caliph
Umar II is important in developing the role of religious devotion in connection to holding power
because it starts to question what exactly the role of the Caliph is. It seems by this letter that the role
of the Caliph is not just to be a political head for the conquered land of the Caliphate, but they also
need to be a religious leader as well. An important part of being that religious head is being pious, to
demonstrate to others how to fully become devout and submit to God. The writer, Hasan al Basri, in
this letter is asking the Caliph to do away with luxury and go back to the simpler times because it is
dangerous to dally in decadence. It is a critique of the lavish life style of the recent Caliphs, with
desert palaces and extravagant mosques, and how that

Civics Lesson Plan
Elementary Social Studies Methods Summary:
Students will learn about their community s government and leaders. Throughout the lesson, students
will engage in discussions and be visited by an elected local government official. Students will also
conduct their own research to learn more about their local government. Learning Context:
This lesson is designed for third grade and fits in with our community, as our government officials are
part of our local community.
This lesson may require extra time, as our town of Beacon Falls does not have a mayor, which I think
the students would be more familiar with. Instead, the town has a Board of Selectmen. Objectives:
Students will understand how our local government is run.
CCSS CIV 3.1 Students will be able to distinguish the responsibilities and powers of government
officials at various levels and branches of government and in different times and places Rationale:
It is important for students to understand their role as a citizen of the United States. By looking at their
local community, students will be more engaged in learning about how they fit into their local
democracy.
My long term goal is for students to not only know what roles different leaders play in a democracy,
but for them to understand how they can effect change. This introductory lesson will get this process
started and will allow the class to brainstorm effective ways to create change.

Barack Obama s Presidency Of The Affordable Care Act
As President Barack Obama s presidency nears completion, it is natural that America as a whole
should look back and ask the question, Am I better off than I was four, or even eight years ago?
Although there are too many issues an administration faces in eight years to focus on all of them, one
of President Obama s most notable acts in his two terms in office is the passing of the Affordable Care
Act (ACA), more commonly known as Obamacare. It remains a controversial law, and has already
faced multiple repeal attempts, challenges in the Supreme Court, a presidential election, and continues
to be challenged repeatedly in Congress. The most recent CNN poll taken in January indicated that
51% of those polled disapproved of how President Obama is handling health care (President Obama
and the Obama Administration, para. 12). As the 2016 Presidential elections heat up, it becomes an
even bigger issue on the campaign platforms of GOP candidates. The future of the Affordable Care
Act could very well lie with the next presidential administration. With a presidency on its way out that
is so well known for Obamacare and presidential candidates using their stance on repealing the law as
such a key point in their campaigns, one can t help but wonder, how much does a candidate s
standpoint on the issue affect the public s opinion of them? Data collected in polls nationwide indicate
that that despite a common negative public opinion of Obamacare, a majority of Americans support

The Amoretti, Italian For Cupids
The Amoretti, Italian for Cupids was written by the famous English Renaissance poet Edmund
Spenser in the 16th century. It is a sonnet cycle that begins with his courtship and ends with his
marriage to Elizabeth Boyle. Sonnet 64 is a blazon form sonnet with an abab bcbc cdcd ee rhyme
scheme. In this sonnet, the speaker explores the body of his lover and appreciates the scents that it
exudes. The first quatrain begins with a kiss. He leans in but doesn t complete the act. Coming to kiss
her lips, (such grace I found) Me seem d, I smelt a garden of sweet flow rs That dainty odours from
them threw around For damsels fit to deck their lovers bow rs (lines 1 4)
When he leaned in to kiss her, he thought he smelled a garden of sweet flowers lingering about. The
lovely scent given off is fit for a young lady to adorn her lover. The speaker goes on to describe
Elizabeth s features in similes, comparing them to flowers. He starts with her lips, noting that they
give off the scent of gillyflowers, also known as carnations. He goes on to portray her ruddy cheeks
comparing them to red roses. The rose, which often symbolizes love and passion, also gives off a
sense of caution with it s thorns. They also represent female virginity, beauty, and respect which are all
qualities that are attached to Elizabeth.
As he moves further along with her features, he continues, Her snowy brows, like budded bellamours;/
Her lovely eyes, like pinks but newly spread; (lines 7 8). By saying

Bank of America (A)
The banking industry is ripe for innovation. We need to grow through value creation and excellent

Banking Group I wonder if we re being overrewarded ! exclaimed Warren Butler to Amy Brady, the

In the United States, the bank served 27 million households and two million businesses and processed
more checks per day than the Federal Reserve System. Globally, it boasted over 140,000 employees
across 190 nations, over $8 billion in annual revenues, $360 billion in deposits, and some $600 billion
in assets (see Exhibit 3 for key financial data). Yet, increasing competition ensured that Bank of
America could not rest on its laurels. Like many of its successful peers, its growth had been driven by
cost reduction and consolidation. From 1985 until 2000, the number of U.S. banks had dwindled from
around 14,000 to about 7,000. These still large numbers especially when compared with there being
only six major banks in Canada reflected the highly competitive nature of the U.S. banking industry as
well as its regional focus. Driving consolidation had been a realization that while service was local,
products were national. Despite this realization, however, banks continued viewing financial services
as commodities, and this bottom line orientation did not make for an industry rife with innovation. In

Ethics in Earnings Management Essays
A company s ultimate goal is to make money and remain a going concern. With that goal in mind,
management must continually report sustained or improved earnings to stakeholders to ensure
constant and new investments in the company s future (Geiger van der Laan Smith, 2010). The
pressure to report positive results can lead management to engage in earnings management activities
to alter short term results to meet the goals set forth (Geiger van der Laan Smith, 2010). In addition to
the pressures on company management, broad accounting principles introduce ethical issues into the
accounting profession (Gibson, 2011). Merchant and Rockness (1994) suggested the practice of
earnings management introduces the most important ethical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It also includes the generalizations determined from the study concerning earnings management. It
concludes with the long run effects of short term earnings management.
The accounting profession is often seen as being restricted by various rules and regulations, standards
presented by professional boards, and the passage of time. The accounting profession is regulated by
the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) (Gibson, 2011). Though much of the regulation of the
profession has been privatized at the direction of the SEC, it is under the regulation of the SEC that
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) are determined (Gibson, 2011). Nevertheless, the
profession is subject to substantial regulation with numerous rules, principles, bulletins, and standards
(Gibson, 2011). Regardless of the amount of regulation, the study (as cited in Gibson, 2011) indicates
the profession has not been fully restricted to a point where ethics and precision are not open to
interpretation by its members, especially with regard to earnings management. Even with the
enactment of the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 in response to several cases of financial fraud which
increased the regulation of the industry and the attention the profession receives, the principles with
which the professionals are given provide room for short term results to be manipulated (Gibson,
2011). Within the framework provided under the SEC s regulation, those within the profession must

Reality Television Has A Negative Effect On Teenage Girls
Reality Television is a relatively new phenomenon that has exploded over the last several years.
Whether it has to do with an extreme makeover or finding the supposed love of your life, reality
television has given us the opportunity to become voyeurs in others lives. Approximately, 50% of
television audiences are watching reality shows (Webster University). Long gone are the days of
whole television programs. Today, most reality shows depict women as an object, only defined and
valued by their sexuality. What kind of message is this sending to young girls? The purpose of this
study is to show that reality television can have a negative effect on teenage girls. This matters
because it can lead to the sexualization of young girls. The greater the exposure to reality television,
the higher the sexualization of young girls. These findings can be of interest to TV programming
executives, who may change their business strategy as a result of our findings. This research differs
from the past in that it focuses solely on girls and not the differences that arise between girls and boys
in reality television viewing.
Problem of Practice: The sexualization of women in many of today s reality shows leads to a negative
effect on young girls. How girls learn about their value and worth can be greatly impacted by the
degrading roles many of these reality stars portray. It sets high unrealistic expectations of the way
young girls are supposed to act. Women are

The Key To Successful Relationships
The key to successful relationships is the ability to express one s thoughts, ideas and feelings clearly,
utilizing respectful language and behaviour without undue anxiety at the expense of others. Assertive
communication is the skill to convey messages to patients, families, and other colleagues in a positive,

Categorizing Personality Types Essay
Outgoing and spontaneous, or level headed and reserved: these are ways in which people identify the
others surrounding them every day. These personality indicators may seem easy to distinguish;
however, at times, finding one s own personality type can be difficult. In the early 1900s, a Swedish
psychologist named Carl Jung introduced the idea of categorizing personalities into identifiable types
(Boeree). By investigating the subconscious, Jung was able to classify personality types that have
certain characteristics in common. This became known as typology (Boeree; TheFreeDictionary.com).
Several years later, Katherine Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs Myers, took Jung s typology to
the next level. Together they separated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, extroverted people tend to act impulsively without thinking of consequences. An introverted
person will think about his or her actions before committing to them (Extroversion). After taking the
Myers Briggs test, I discovered that I had an extroverted personality (Flynn). This is very prevalent in
my job, as well as school. While I benefit from some time to myself, I enjoy working with groups of
people. If I must choose between conducting a project on my own or with a group, I will usually pick
the group. I also have a job that requires working with large groups of children. While some
individuals may find such a large group overwhelming, I find it easy and comfortable. Another
indicator of my extroverted personality is my tendency to act on impulse. Many times, I will enroll in
classes before I take the time to see if I need them or will do well in them. I also make choices without
considering consequences. Last semester, I chose to skip class to attend other events. While friends
thought it made me a fun, flexible person, I ended up failing my class due to absences. Being

When you acquire self realization, you are no longer partial towards your heart and speech. This quote

Cunningham was following the crowd mindlessly, and giving into mob mentality. Upon Scout talking

The Field Of Pharmacy Is A Growing Problem
The field of pharmacy is a growing, but at the same time stagnant. It is growing because it is changing
as the healthcare system is changing. After the changes in the healthcare system, the field has included
pharmaceutical care in its mission. As described in Communications Skills for Pharmacist book,
pharmaceutical care requires the pharmacist to take responsibility for preventing and solving drug
related problems and optimizing drug therapy (p.1, CP). On the other hand it is stagnant because the
mission is not being fulfilled. The traditional way of practicing, which is dispensing drugs only, still
persists.
The pharmacy is being practiced in an unethical way as the patient is told to sign the paper, without
being informed what rights the patient is losing. Presently, there is a need of pharmacists in the
healthcare system, since they have the knowledge of drug interaction. But there might be a reduction
in need because the healthcare wants something more than just dispensing medications. The need for
pharmacist will only be understood, when the people know what to expect from pharmacists. If the
patients understand that the pharmacist can provide them counseling, then they will approach the
pharmacist. Some pharmacists want to fulfill the pharmaceutical care mission, but the authority puts
restrictions and also the pharmacist is not compensated for the work. Consequently, as the authority is
not willing to cooperate, the improvement in the role is difficult.

Elizabeth Gaskell s The Industrial Revolution Affected...
During the Victorian era, there were specific expectations set for women and men. Men expected to be
fathers and heads of households, whereas women were expected to simply be in the home, dependent
of their husbands. The only alternatives for unmarried women were either religious life or prostitution.
Elizabeth Gaskell comments on these expectations in her novel Mary Barton, especially through the
actions of the titular character, during the Industrial Revolution. While the Mary Barton can often be
read in the context of the economic changes in society, it also provides significant commentary
regarding the gendered aspects of life. To put it simply, the Industrial Revolution affected everyone
and everything; Elizabeth Gaskell illustrates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gaskell characterizes her, Mary dwelt upon and enjoyed the idea of some day becoming a lady, and
doing all the elegant nothings appertaining to ladyhood. (Gaskell 79) She is initially a stereotypical
young girl, but later develops into a strong character. Because of the Industrial Revolution s
substantial impacts, Mary s characterization is a reaction to these impacts. Gaskell recognized that the
period was very dynamic, especially regarding the roles of women (Al Haj 1134). Pearl Brown notes,
Mary Barton reflects on the impact at mid century of this new culture on gender roles (Brown 346).
The Industrial Revolution served as a catalyst leading to a change of women s roles out of necessity.
Mary s characterization, especially at the latter half of the novel, is atypical. She was initially
introduced as a girl stuck in a love triangle, but after the death Harry Carson, she becomes a heroic
character, making her own decisions. Necessity was a primary factor; the Bartons were on the edge of
poverty for much of the novel. This reality forced Mary to work, much to her father s protest. He
believes he should be the primary provider; John Barton recommends she becomes a servant, a very
feminine career. Instead Mary decides to become a seamstress; Brown points out it was a job with a
possibility of a future managing a shop or perhaps owning he own (348). Mary not only becomes a
significant breadwinner for her family, but also has the

The Meditations By Marcus Aurelius
The universe has a plan for all of us, and we need to follow it. When you asked me what book we

has on a person and society as a whole. If all of our employees understood that everything happens for
a reason and there is nothing you can do to change what has already happened, they will be able to
focus on what is happening right now. In addition to realizing that the past is over, our employees who
learned about Stoic philosophy through Marcus Aurelius will understand that the universe has set their
path. If something gets in their way, they will be able to get past it knowing that that is how it is

Simple Distillation And Fractional Distillation
Distillation is the process of separating components from a liquid mixture by selective evaporation
and condensation, utilizing the different volatility of each substance (Wikipedia, Distillation, 2015). It
can result in complete separation or partial separation (which increases the concentration of selected
components) (Massachusetts, University of, 2015). The two types that were examined in this lab was
simple distillation and fractional distillation. Raoult s Law also plays an important factor in
distillation. It states that the partial vapor pressure of each component of an ideal mixture of liquids is
equal to the vapor pressure of the pure component multiplied by its mole fraction in the mixture
(Perrot, 1994).
Simple distillation is where the vapor is immediately channeled into the condenser, which results in a
distillate that is not pure but its composition is identical to the vapors at the given temperature and
pressure (Massachusetts, University of, 2015). It s effective when liquids have boiling point
differences of at least twenty five degrees Celsius (Massachusetts, University of, 2015). As it heats,
the vapors being formed will be richest in the substance that boils at the lowest temperature and
eventually as the most volatile mixture is distilled out, it will no longer be a pure compound being
distilled (Massachusetts, University of, 2015). The temperature will increase until the boiling point of
the next substance is approached, which will result in a

  • 2. A Joint Venture With Pernod Ricard The Republic of Poland, also known by its shortened name of Poland, has strong ties to the United States. America has been a very powerful ally to Poland for many years. The spirits sector of Poland s alcohol market is quickly growing with the vodka segment as one of the country s largest sources of income. As a lucrative business already established in the US and attempting to enter Polish markets, we will enter a joint venture with Pernod Ricard, a very successful alcohol and spirits company with operations here in America and abroad in Poland. Through an in depth look at Poland s spirits market we will provide support for why we are choosing to enter Poland through a joint venture and how we plan to control our abroad operations. A strategic plan detailing how we will use our joint venture and then market, position, price, and promote our products are also included.. Pernod Ricard is an extablished alcohol and spirits company with operations in both the US and in Poland. In the past it has entered two lucrative joint ventures. The first took place in 1993 with Havana Club International, which was a 50/50 joint venture (Pernod Ricard, 18). In 2011 Pernod Ricard entered into a joint venture with Tequila Avión but it only held a minority percentage of 20% in this joint venture until recently (Viladon). In July 2014, it spent approximately $100 million to gain the majority share in this joint venture giving it control with 84% (Viladon). With this joint venture Pernod Ricard ... • 3. Analysis Of Ibn Haldun And Adam Smith And David Hume And... It is one of the hardest questions and unfortunately still unknown in the living world in despite of a myriad of academic studies. Many scholars from all around world asked this magic question in different time over the history. From Ibn Haldun and Adam Smith to David Hume and Karl Marx, from Alfred Marshall and Robert Solow to Paul Romer and Daron Acemoglu, there have been so many prominent and distinguished scholars who tried to find an answer to this question in order to understand the world better and some of them are still trying to find a fully satisfactory answer about this one of the most interesting and challenging areas in academic studies. Here is an example of one the answer to show that it is old question. Ibn Khaldun gave his account of the stages of economic development, from nomadic to agricultural to more cooperation in economic matters which occur through an expansion of a town to a city, where demand increases and skilled labor congregates and expands production both ill quantity and in refinement. Economic growth continues so long as there is an extra effort, which creates capital accumulation, which in turn, combined with effort, leads to more production and the development of crafts in the cities. Wealth expands through labor and its efforts, whereas with less human effort there may occur a reversal to stagnation, followed by a downward trend in people s standard of living. (I.W. Oweiss). Needless to say, it would be too much to explain who said ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Euthyphro s Definition Of Piety According to Dr. Youngs lecture, piety is a term that refers to what it means to be good or holy in the eyes of the gods. Within Plato s Euthyphro dialogue, Socrates is looking for a definition of piety in order to better develop his knowledge as a philosopher. Euthyphro tries to give Socrates several definitions of piety. Euthyphro gives five different definitions of piety, all of which I feel were all subpar definitions. I will argue that Euthyphro does not give Socrates a satisfactory definition of piety. I will argue this by pointing out several instances in the text in which Socrates disputes Euthyphro s definitions and why I think he disputes them. The first definition of piety Euthyphro gave Socrates was not even a true definition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Socrates said, ...where there is piety there is also justice, but where there is justice there is not always piety, for the pious is a part of justice. Shall we say that, or do you think otherwise? (Socrates, 15). Euthyphro agrees and then suggests that piety is simply taking care of the gods: I think, Socrates, that the godly and pious is the part of the just that is concerned with the care of the gods, while that concerned with the care of men is the remaining part of justice (Euthyphro, 16). Socrates quickly rejects this on the basis that taking care of the Gods would be concerned with making the Gods better . Socrates uses the example of caring for animals to illustrate his point. He said, So dogs are benefitted by dog breeding, cattle by cattle raising, and so with all the others. Or do you think that care aims to harm the object of its care? (Socrates, 17). Euthyphro objects and says that these acts aim to benefit these animals. So Socrates says, Is piety then, which is the care of the gods, also to benefit the gods and make them better? Would you agree that when you do something pious you make some of the gods better? (Socrates, 17). Euthyphro claims that caring for the gods involves the kind of care that slaves take of their masters (Euthyphro, 17). When questioned by Socrates as to exactly what is the definition of piety using this logic, Euthyphro can only return back to his earlier claim: piety is what is loved by all the gods. I say that is a man knows how to say and do what is pleasing to the gods at prayer and sacrifice, those are pious actions such as preserve both private houses and public affairs of state. The opposite of these pleasing actions are impious and overturn and destroy everything (Euthyphro, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many believe that racial profiling is more prevalent in today s society; however, this issue has been a part of our society since slavery. Moreover, African American males are mostly the targets of racial profiling, especially in larger cities like New York City and Los Angeles. The principle of law enforcement and the principle of equality among African American males make this issue even more difficult to analyze (Persico, 2002). According to Delores (2007), although, many things in policing have changed as far as policies goes, many things will remain the same. Changes to the police policy were to improve the image of police in certain communities, and impact citizens in a positive way through trust and satisfaction. However, Delores (2007) states, officers perceive African American males as people who are capable of wrongdoing even though a crime has yet to be committed. In addition, in noncriminal or minimal criminal activities police view male African Americans as the most dangerous. Police officers developed ways to recognize certain kind of people, as emblematic assailants, meaning, police recognize the gesture, attire, language of a person, which is then perceive as a prelude to violence. However, sometimes officers make mistakes and innocent citizens like African American males end up paying the ultimate price. The insanity plea made its first appearance in the United States in 1859 after Congressman Daniel Sickles murdered the man who his wife was having an affair with. However, a more recent and rather public use of the insanity plea is against James Eagan Holmes. James is being charged with murder and attempted murder after he maliciously attacked an Aurora Colorado movie theatre in 2012. James shot and killed 12 people and wounded 70 others. According to one source (2011, Black s Law, Bryan A. (1965, Psychiatric Justice, Thomas S. Szasz, M.D) If someone pleads not guilty by reason of insanity, than they undergo mental rehabilitation. The length of time in the mental rehabilitation is determined by how long it takes the individual to be mentally prepared to re appear in court. The human brain begins forming very early in prenatal life ( just three weeks after conception), but in many ways, brain development is a lifelong project. That is because the same events that shape the brain during development are also responsible for storing information, new skills and memories throughout life. (Zerotothree.org). Thesis statement (what is your paper going to discuss) Development all starts the moment of conception. According to the information provided by Modern mom, By the time you are three weeks pregnant, the developing embryo has formed a neural groove, which is the foundation for the brain structure. By the time your baby is born, their brain will have over 100 billion neurons. By birth, only the lower portions of the nervous system (the spinal cord and brain stem) are well developed, whereas the higher regions (the limbic system and cerebral cortex) are still rather primeval. The lower brain is in control of the newborn s behavior, such as the kicking, crying, and grasping. These behaviors are the functions of the brainstem and spinal cord. • 13. An Hour Response In Story of an Hour , written by Kate Chopin, there were quite a few unexpected events. Initially, I expected the story to be longer than two pages. I also thought that the story s name could have been different. For example, the story instantly starts off by talking about Mrs. Mallard s heart problem, and that fact is repeated throughout the story. Why not title it something like Matters of the Heart ? But, after reading the story I realized that time is an important aspect of the story all the events in the story happen within the hour, and Mrs. Mallard mentions time on multiple occasions She breathed a quick prayer that life might be long. It was only yesterday she had thought with a shudder that life might be long (Page 279). In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that the first theme this story shows is that life can change in an instant. This shows multiple times throughout the story, such as when it was believed that Mr. Mallard died With Brently Mallard leading under the list of killed (Page 278) or when Mrs. Mallard did actually die When the doctors came they said she had died of heart disease of joy that kills (Page 280). This leads me to my second theme, which is to not take things for granted. Mrs. Mallard might not have loved her husband the way he had loved her, but she expected to see him come home that day. The same could be said when Mrs. Mallard was comprehending her newfound freedom she had hoped for (and expected to) live a life after her husband had died Spring days, and summer days, and all sorts of days that would be her own (Page 279). On a lighter note, the third theme I believed was in this story was to not jump to conclusions unless you see it for yourself. Mrs. Mallard believed that her husband had died because her husband s name was in the newspaper on the list of those killed in a rail accident. Obviously, the mistake was not intentional, but it had severe results. I also believe that this story s message was mainly a bash on society as a whole. This story reflects how society treated women in the 1800s which was not good. Back then, women were treated horribly and granted, things are not perfect now, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Piety And Its Role As Powerful Positions During The Period... Piety and its Role in Powerful Positions During the period of early Arab conquests, massive transformations were taking place as a new great confessional empire was emerging. During this time many conflicts and questions arose. Who is the rightful Caliph once the prophet Muhammad dies? What makes a good Caliph? What is to be done with the non Muslims? What does it mean to be a Muslim? One of the major themes that arose from these questions was the importance of being pious when holding some form of power, whether political or military. Primary sources demonstrate how this theme has come to fruition, such as in a letter to the Caliph Umar II, and Tabari s The History of Prophet s and Kings. The letter to Caliph Umar II is important in developing the role of religious devotion in connection to holding power because it starts to question what exactly the role of the Caliph is. It seems by this letter that the role of the Caliph is not just to be a political head for the conquered land of the Caliphate, but they also need to be a religious leader as well. An important part of being that religious head is being pious, to demonstrate to others how to fully become devout and submit to God. The writer, Hasan al Basri, in this letter is asking the Caliph to do away with luxury and go back to the simpler times because it is dangerous to dally in decadence. It is a critique of the lavish life style of the recent Caliphs, with desert palaces and extravagant mosques, and how that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Barack Obama s Presidency Of The Affordable Care Act As President Barack Obama s presidency nears completion, it is natural that America as a whole should look back and ask the question, Am I better off than I was four, or even eight years ago? Although there are too many issues an administration faces in eight years to focus on all of them, one of President Obama s most notable acts in his two terms in office is the passing of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), more commonly known as Obamacare. It remains a controversial law, and has already faced multiple repeal attempts, challenges in the Supreme Court, a presidential election, and continues to be challenged repeatedly in Congress. The most recent CNN poll taken in January indicated that 51% of those polled disapproved of how President Obama is handling health care (President Obama and the Obama Administration, para. 12). As the 2016 Presidential elections heat up, it becomes an even bigger issue on the campaign platforms of GOP candidates. The future of the Affordable Care Act could very well lie with the next presidential administration. With a presidency on its way out that is so well known for Obamacare and presidential candidates using their stance on repealing the law as such a key point in their campaigns, one can t help but wonder, how much does a candidate s standpoint on the issue affect the public s opinion of them? Data collected in polls nationwide indicate that that despite a common negative public opinion of Obamacare, a majority of Americans support adapting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. The Amoretti, Italian For Cupids The Amoretti, Italian for Cupids was written by the famous English Renaissance poet Edmund Spenser in the 16th century. It is a sonnet cycle that begins with his courtship and ends with his marriage to Elizabeth Boyle. Sonnet 64 is a blazon form sonnet with an abab bcbc cdcd ee rhyme scheme. In this sonnet, the speaker explores the body of his lover and appreciates the scents that it exudes. The first quatrain begins with a kiss. He leans in but doesn t complete the act. Coming to kiss her lips, (such grace I found) Me seem d, I smelt a garden of sweet flow rs That dainty odours from them threw around For damsels fit to deck their lovers bow rs (lines 1 4) When he leaned in to kiss her, he thought he smelled a garden of sweet flowers lingering about. The lovely scent given off is fit for a young lady to adorn her lover. The speaker goes on to describe Elizabeth s features in similes, comparing them to flowers. He starts with her lips, noting that they give off the scent of gillyflowers, also known as carnations. He goes on to portray her ruddy cheeks comparing them to red roses. The rose, which often symbolizes love and passion, also gives off a sense of caution with it s thorns. They also represent female virginity, beauty, and respect which are all qualities that are attached to Elizabeth. As he moves further along with her features, he continues, Her snowy brows, like budded bellamours;/ Her lovely eyes, like pinks but newly spread; (lines 7 8). By saying ... These still large numbers especially when compared with there being only six major banks in Canada reflected the highly competitive nature of the U.S. banking industry as well as its regional focus. With that goal in mind, management must continually report sustained or improved earnings to stakeholders to ensure constant and new investments in the company s future (Geiger van der Laan Smith, 2010). The pressure to report positive results can lead management to engage in earnings management activities to alter short term results to meet the goals set forth (Geiger van der Laan Smith, 2010). It also includes the generalizations determined from the study concerning earnings management. It concludes with the long run effects of short term earnings management. The accounting profession is often seen as being restricted by various rules and regulations, standards presented by professional boards, and the passage of time. The accounting profession is regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) (Gibson, 2011). Though much of the regulation of the profession has been privatized at the direction of the SEC, it is under the regulation of the SEC that Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) are determined (Gibson, 2011). Nevertheless, the profession is subject to substantial regulation with numerous rules, principles, bulletins, and standards (Gibson, 2011). Regardless of the amount of regulation, the study (as cited in Gibson, 2011) indicates the profession has not been fully restricted to a point where ethics and precision are not open to interpretation by its members, especially with regard to earnings management. Even with the enactment of the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 in response to several cases of financial fraud which increased the regulation of the industry and the attention the profession receives, the principles with which the professionals are given provide room for short term results to be manipulated (Gibson, 2011). After the changes in the healthcare system, the field has included pharmaceutical care in its mission. On the other hand it is stagnant because the mission is not being fulfilled. The traditional way of practicing, which is dispensing drugs only, still persists. The pharmacy is being practiced in an unethical way as the patient is told to sign the paper, without being informed what rights the patient is losing. Presently, there is a need of pharmacists in the healthcare system, since they have the knowledge of drug interaction. But there might be a reduction in need because the healthcare wants something more than just dispensing medications. The need for pharmacist will only be understood, when the people know what to expect from pharmacists. If the patients understand that the pharmacist can provide them counseling, then they will approach the pharmacist. • 40. Elizabeth Gaskell s The Industrial Revolution Affected... During the Victorian era, there were specific expectations set for women and men. Men expected to be fathers and heads of households, whereas women were expected to simply be in the home, dependent of their husbands. The only alternatives for unmarried women were either religious life or prostitution. Elizabeth Gaskell comments on these expectations in her novel Mary Barton, especially through the actions of the titular character, during the Industrial Revolution. While the Mary Barton can often be read in the context of the economic changes in society, it also provides significant commentary regarding the gendered aspects of life. To put it simply, the Industrial Revolution affected everyone and everything; Elizabeth Gaskell illustrates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gaskell characterizes her, Mary dwelt upon and enjoyed the idea of some day becoming a lady, and doing all the elegant nothings appertaining to ladyhood. (Gaskell 79) She is initially a stereotypical young girl, but later develops into a strong character. Because of the Industrial Revolution s substantial impacts, Mary s characterization is a reaction to these impacts. Gaskell recognized that the period was very dynamic, especially regarding the roles of women (Al Haj 1134). Pearl Brown notes, Mary Barton reflects on the impact at mid century of this new culture on gender roles (Brown 346). The Industrial Revolution served as a catalyst leading to a change of women s roles out of necessity. Mary s characterization, especially at the latter half of the novel, is atypical. She was initially introduced as a girl stuck in a love triangle, but after the death Harry Carson, she becomes a heroic character, making her own decisions. Necessity was a primary factor; the Bartons were on the edge of poverty for much of the novel. This reality forced Mary to work, much to her father s protest. He believes he should be the primary provider; John Barton recommends she becomes a servant, a very feminine career. Instead Mary decides to become a seamstress; Brown points out it was a job with a possibility of a future managing a shop or perhaps owning he own (348). Mary not only becomes a significant breadwinner for her family, but also has the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Meditations By Marcus Aurelius The universe has a plan for all of us, and we need to follow it. When you asked me what book we should assign to all of our employees, I immediately thought about The Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. In The Meditations, you read of ways to live your life without fear of consequences. Forgetting past troubles and current issues will help our employees to work hard at what they have to do, working for our tire distribution company. The universe sets out our life before we are born and it is important to not let fear or mistakes get in the way of the future. If we assign everyone in the company, including those in satellite locations, Marcus Aurelius, I believe that our productions will benefit from the results. One perk of reading The Meditations is understanding the impact Stoicism has on a person and society as a whole. If all of our employees understood that everything happens for a reason and there is nothing you can do to change what has already happened, they will be able to focus on what is happening right now. In addition to realizing that the past is over, our employees who learned about Stoic philosophy through Marcus Aurelius will understand that the universe has set their path. If something gets in their way, they will be able to get past it knowing that that is how it is supposed to be. Since life has a set course and nothing can stop the way it will play out, our employees will learn to understand the fact that the only thing they have control over in their ... • 42. Simple Distillation And Fractional Distillation Distillation is the process of separating components from a liquid mixture by selective evaporation and condensation, utilizing the different volatility of each substance (Wikipedia, Distillation, 2015). It can result in complete separation or partial separation (which increases the concentration of selected components) (Massachusetts, University of, 2015). The two types that were examined in this lab was simple distillation and fractional distillation. Raoult s Law also plays an important factor in distillation. It states that the partial vapor pressure of each component of an ideal mixture of liquids is equal to the vapor pressure of the pure component multiplied by its mole fraction in the mixture (Perrot, 1994). Simple distillation is where the vapor is immediately channeled into the condenser, which results in a distillate that is not pure but its composition is identical to the vapors at the given temperature and pressure (Massachusetts, University of, 2015). It s effective when liquids have boiling point differences of at least twenty five degrees Celsius (Massachusetts, University of, 2015). As it heats, the vapors being formed will be richest in the substance that boils at the lowest temperature and eventually as the most volatile mixture is distilled out, it will no longer be a pure compound being distilled (Massachusetts, University of, 2015). The temperature will increase until the boiling point of the next substance is approached, which will result in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
