Primaries Pros And Cons
Abstract
This paper will talk about the presidential primaries in the United States of America. It will explain
what a primary election is, and where it comes from historically, also how it fits into today s society.
Another topic it will cover is how the primary process has played out so far this year, how some of the
contenders are currently faring in the race for presidency. It will also cover the strong suits of the
primaries and some of the major flaws of the primaries. The last topic this paper will cover is whether
or not the people of the United States should understand and care about the presidential Primaries.
Introduction
The Presidential Primaries is a system put in place to help chose the best candidates for being the
President of the United States of America. Now whether it is or is not an effective system is yet to be
discussed later on in the paper, but it was put in place to help better to represent the people of the U.S.
The presidential Primaries is very crucial to the candidates running for presidency. It allows the public
to see who the candidates are, and how they conduct a campaign against one another.
History of the Primaries The presidential primaries have a long and rich history with the U.S. It goes
back to when George ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A pro is how the modern day primaries are primarily open, which many as long as your registered
voter you can vote, which also gives more power to the people. So the primaries have a much higher
voter rate right? In a sense they do with including all registered voters, so you don t have to be
affiliated with one major parties to vote, but voter participation has also recently been on the decline
until this year where voter participation nationally so far is at forty five percent. So it opens to
everyone, but it also loses its appeal because you no longer have to be part of political

Profit Maximization Model
SAMPLE ANSWER FOR QUESTION 5
Profit making is one of the most traditional, basic and major objectives of a firm. Profit motive is the
driving force behind all business activities of a company. It is the primary measure of success or
failure of a firm in the market. Profit earning capacity indicates the position, performance and status of
a firm in the market. In spite of several changes and development of several alternative objectives,
profit maximization has remained as one of the single most important objectives of the firm even
today.
Both small and large firms consistently make an attempt to maximize their profit by adopting novel
techniques in business. Specific efforts have been made to maximize output and minimize production
and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are as follows
1. Profit maximization is the main goal of the firm.
2. Rational behavior on the part of the firm to achieve its goal of profit maximization.
3. The firm is managed by owner entrepreneur.
Determination of profit maximizing price and output
Profit maximization of a firm can be explained in two different ways.
· Total Revenue and Total Cost approach.
· Marginal Revenue and Marginal Cost approach.
Profits of a firm are estimated by making comparison between total revenue and total costs. Profit is
the difference between TR and TC. In other words, excess of revenue over costs is the profits. Profit =
TR TC. If TR is equal to TC in that case, there will be break even point. If TR is less than TC, in that
case, a firm will be incurring losses. In this case, we take in to account of total cost and total revenue
of the firm while measuring profits.
It is clear from the following diagram how profit arises when TR is greater than that of TC.
2. MR and MC approach
In this case, we take in to account of revenue earned from one unit and cost incurred to produce only
one unit of output. A firm will be maximizing its profits when MR= MC and MC curve cuts MR curve
from below. If MC curve cuts MR curve from above either under perfect market or under imperfect
market, no doubt MR equals MC but total output will not be maximized and hence total profits also
will not be maximized. Hence, two conditions are

Louis Riel Research Paper
Riel The Hero
Louis Riel; one of the most important figures in Canada s history. This interesting character was born
in Winnipeg, the town of St. Boniface in the red river settlement. Riel grew up with a Francophone
catholic society, but he classified as a francophone Metis. In the early life of Louis Riel, he was sent
off to study at the College de Montreal. 1868 was the year he returned to his hometown. Louis Riel s
name is still greatly remembered to this day.
Louis Riel was definitely a hero. All he wanted was equality for his people (Francophone Metis.)
Because of this, Riel lead the Red River Rebellion. Soon, Riel also lead the North West Rebellion.
Louis Riel cared about his people s rights, so much, he declared the Red River Rebellion, or the Red
River Resistance in 1869. The Reballion was sparked by the transfer of a territory called Rupert s
Land to the young country of Canada. The Métis only took up a small portion of Rupert s Land, but
they still feared their culture and land rights were going to be taken away while still under Canadian
control. The Métis people were not very happy, so the Metis announced a rebellion, (Lead by Louis
Riel.) The uprising led to the creation of the province of Manitoba. The ... Show more content on

drastically as a result of a shortage of bison leading to starvation. Which the government was doing
nothing about. The Metis asked Louis Riel to return to Canada, as he was in Montana. When Riel
returned, he sent a petition to Ottawa stating the concerns, a request for their own provincial
government, and a voice in Federal Government. The Rebellion started when Riel purchased weapons,
seized a church, and created a second provincial government. Louis Riel showed that he really cared
for his peoples rights by doing a rebellon not once, but

The Characterism Of Human Nature In George Eliot s Silas...
In George Eliot s Silas Marner there is one character who exemplifies the realism of human nature
more than any other, and that is Godfrey Cass. He is painted such a way that the very fabric of his
characterization begs for analysis. Eliot analyzes human nature through Godfrey s actions, or lack of
them, and the resulting consequences of his decisions subsequently make Silas Marner a novel that
draws a discussion of what good naturedness means in regards to action versus passivity. Godfrey s
passivity is the driving force of the novel and in true Eliot fashion, it is his passivity that makes him
both a victim and a villain. Godfrey is put forth as a fine, open faced, good natured young man (Eliot,
23). Immediately contrasted against his brother Dunstan, a spiteful jeering fellow, who seemed to
enjoy his drink the more when other people went dry, Godfrey is painted a victim of circumstance and
bad familial relations. The condition of Godfrey Cass is one among men who had felt the keen point
of sorrow or remorse and whom thanks to their native human kindness was never driven into brutality
(Eliot, 29). Godfrey s own circumstances are not his fault, rather he is better for them because he has
not allowed them to change his nature. This framework is faulty, and nearly immediately after it is put
forth, it is revoked. He is praised for being unlike his brother, who mocks him for his good
naturedness when he says I m so easy and good natured. You ll take any

Isopid Behavior Lab Report
Problem
How will the behavior of ten isopods be influenced when given the option between decaying fruit and
vegetables or Quick Oats and are observed every minute for a five minute time period to study the
effect of different food stimuli on isopods?
Hypothesis If ten isopods are given the option between decaying fruit and vegetables or Quick Oats
and are observed every minute for a five minute time period to study the effect of different food
stimuli on isopod behavior, then the isopods will be drawn towards the decaying fruit and vegetables
because in its natural environment, an isopods diet is mainly composed of decaying plants, grasses,
and foliage, meaning that the isopods will prefer the decaying fruit and vegetables over the Quick Oats
as it is most similar to their natural diet.
Design
The manipulated variable in this lab is the different food stimuli; decaying fruit and vegetables. The
responding variable in this lab is the number of isopods attracted to each choice chamber, decaying
fruit and vegetables or Quick Oats. The range to be used is 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 minutes. The control group
was set up by observing isopods behavior in soil for 10 minutes. The constant factors were the number
of isopods used in each trial, 10 (approximately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Adolescent Years And Emerging Adulthood
The adolescent years and emerging adulthood have completely different phases. The assignment was
to ask two different people of two different ages an allotment of questions. I chose to ask my sister,
Nicolle, who is fifteen years of age and in the category of teenager, and asked my boyfriend, Collin,
who is twenty one years of age and an emerging adult. Nicolle is a junior in high school, while Collin
is a returned missionary attending Brigham Young University. Each of them has lived similar, yet
quite different lives.
Time
The first question I asked to each of my participants was, how much time do you spend with friends
outside of school? Nicolle s answer was approximately an hour and half depending on the day of the
week. During the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

adulthood, you are required to become more responsible and spend your time more wisely. Emerging
adults have bills to pay, homework to do constantly, and a job to do. There isn t a whole lot of time left
to spend with friends until you get all of your work done.
The next question I asked both of them was, How much time do you spend each day online or texting
your friends? Both Collin s and Nicolle s answers were very similar when it came to the texting part of
the question. They both claim they text their friends from the moment they wake up to the moment
they go to bed, so pretty much ALL DAY. The online part of the question was quite different. Nicolle
stated that she doesn t spend a lot of time on the computer because she doesn t have time to be online
surfing the Internet, but Collin, on the other hand, says he spends all day on the Internet for classes.
The answers were quite similar, because social media and the Internet are a prominent figure in this
generation s lifestyle.
Another question I asked Collin and Nicolle was, How much time do you spend watching TV or
Netflix/movies? Nicolle s answer was astonishing. She said that she comes home and just heavily
plops down in front of the TV when she isn t working or doing homework. Collin states that he doesn

Sand Gazelle Research Paper
Invisible! Can you see that sand gazelle camouflaging in the shade? The cream like coat and white,
really help it look like a shadow. It really helps it blend in with the environment. Like the other
adaptations, this adaption also helps the Sand Gazelle survive in the desert. It gets protected from
predators who are out hunting for it and ready to pounce. There are many adaptations that allow the
Sand Gazelle to survive in the blazing heat of the Sahara Desert, that allow it to live, grow, and
reproduce. To start, one adaptation which supports the Sand Gazelle in surviving in the desert, is its
color. As I have mentioned, the color of the Sand Gazelle helps it blend into its surroundings. This
protects it from getting eaten by its enemies. The technique for camouflaging for any animal is its
color. A Sand Gazelle s creamy white coat of fur blend in with the sand and shade, which most of the
desert is covered in. This adaptation doesn t just help in blending in with its environment, it also helps
in reflecting the Sun s rays. When the Sun s rays get reflected, its body stays as cool as possible and
doesn t get dehydrated as much. In fact, the white layer of fur and nasal passage keeps on cooling the
blood, so it isn t too hot for it to survive. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

plants which it eats in its diet. The plants already have water stored in them, so when the sand gazelle

with a shortage of water. One way the Sand Gazelle saves water and keeps hydrated is by shrinking its
heart and liver. When it does that, less oxygen is taken in, and so less water is lost. These techniques

The Turn Of The Screw Analysis
The Turn of the Screw is one of the most controversial works in literature and the text has provoked a
variety of critical interpretations from its publication in 1898. In this novel, the governess tells her
experience with two apparitions that no one but she could see. And the governess accuses the ghosts
of servants for corrupting the children, Miles and Flora. Critics concerning about the truth of the story
are divided two basic camps based on their acceptance or rejection of the governess s credibility as a
storyteller. Some critics believe that the ghosts are real and the governess is a rational and credible
narrator, while the others believe that the ghosts are hallucinations of the governess and regard the
governess as an incredible and mentally abnormal narrator. Also, we could speculate the author s
intention on the basis of his life experience and other works of Henry James. This essay will examine
the reliability of the governess on the basis of the text and interpret Henry James s intention on the
basis of other sources. The critics from psychanalytic perspective claim that the existence of ghosts is
the governess s hysterical delusion. The ghost is the projection of governess s own sexual hysteria,
which resulted from the conflict between native romantic impulses and idealistic innocence required
by Victorian society (Renner). The inexperienced governess encounters the handsome, bold, young
gentleman with charming ways with women (James, 4) and she

Parenting In George Saunders s Argumentative Essay
Parenting has been a struggle since the beginning of human history. Trying to teach the new
generation everything they will need to survive in the world is no easy task. It is not an overstatement
in the least to suggest that every parent who has ever conceived a child has not, from that moment,
been struck with fear from the doubt in their own ability to naturally raise a child to the point of
adulthood where there is nothing wrong with in the eyes of society. In adversity to this struggle,
parents from the beginning have tried proven and failed methods taught to them by their parents
within the confines of their time periods. In George Saunders, Puppy, the mothers Marie and Callie
mirror one another in parenting style and the story discretely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Not much more can be said in this argument against the parenting styles of Callie. It remains obvious
now that Marie quite literally mirrors the choices of Callie in how she rewards and disciplines her
children. The method shown by Marie shows the reader a stronger correlation in the direction of her
kids making the best out of their lives where Callie s son Bo is going to be subjected to the odds of
faith. In Callie s defense, her love for her child is not any less than Marie s love for her children. One
can plainly see in the text that both mothers, misguided through multiple different perspectives, love
their children regardless of treatment and behavior. However, being a parent is more than loving your
child blindly; being a good parent is derived from knowing good methods of raising the next

Man s Search For Meaning Essay
I am going to guess that the reader of this essay is not a holocaust survivor. I can almost guarantee it.
Although you re not a survivor of one of the most horrific events in history, it does not mean you will
have no feelings about it if you were to hear some stories. I call them stories because most books
written of such detail are mere personal experiences and not factual, historical information. Speaking
of personal experiences, I took the time to read a book about a man named Viktor Emil Frankl (26
March 1905 2 September 1997).¹ He was an Austrian neurologist and psychiatrist as well as a
Holocaust survivor. The book is called Man s Search for Meaning , and I find it to be a truthful

Frankl trusted that in spite of the fact that the Nazi s could force much suffering on him, could rid of
his family, and could detain him, they could not choose how he was. He had control over the way he
would act, respond, and carry on. Regardless of what they did, he would choose his conduct and be in
charge of it. My aim is neither to abridge the book for you, nor to clarify the ideas of existential
treatment, so I will move here to my evaluation and reaction to Frankl s book. To start with, I need to
repeat that this book is a superb read. For anybody new to the outrages of a death camp, the tale of
human triumph even with such barbarities alone is justified regardless of the read. It also gives a rule
to engage people to take liability for their life, and to make importance in it. It gives a model of living
over the impact of condition. The initial stage is portrayed by the indication of shock. Frankl speaks of
his entry via train at the notorious Auschwitz, when he and his kindred detainees underlying stun and
frightfulness rapidly offered a path to the condition known as the delusion of reprieve , the conviction
that they would be spared at last, that things couldn t be as horrendous as they appeared. Frankl
portrays how, not for the last time, he sat tight for destiny to follow through to its logical end as the
detainees proceeded remaining before a SS officer who coolly guided them toward the right, which

American Perspective On Hackers
Analysis: The American Perspective On Hackers
The issue of public information has always been a controversy in our world. One of our country s
founding arguments was based on the necessity of free speech and free information. Many now
believe that our government is being overly restrictive on information, blocking and controlling some
aspects of free speech that first amendment advocates feel are necessary to maintain our American
society. These advocates of free information have been using the nickname hackers for over twenty
years, but improper use by the media has stretched the word to slanderous levels. Hackers are now
stereotyped as mindless vandals and miscreants, although the word hacker has been used as a term for

The irrationality of this fear is proven by the contrasting attitude of technically oriented society.
The technically oriented part of society is made up of (at the very minimum) very advanced home
users, capable of modifying parts of their computer and fixing most problems. This sect also includes
network administrators and operators, most programmers, and most computer hardware specialists.
Not all programmers or hardware specialists fall under this description, because many of them do not
have or need a full understanding of a computer in order to complete their job. These technically
oriented people have enough knowledge about computers so as to not automatically resort to fear.
Most of them understand the vast difference between a cyber vandal and a true hacker. In fact, most of
them have acted as either a cyber vandal, hacker, or both at some time in their past. They generally see
that actual hackers are not intent on damaging things.
Actual hackers are content with the free spread of information and thought. The people that
technically inclined individuals avoid and sometimes fear are the delinquents and vandals who find it
amusing to damage and ruin data. In an attempt to make people think they are anything more than
attention starved brats with computers, these vandals prefer to be called hackers.

Comparing Poems The Bloody Sire And Into Battle
The poems The bloody Sire by Robinson Jeffers and Into Battle by Julian Grenfell both deal with the
concepts of war and violence. Both poems use nature as a literary device to help tell the story. In Into
Battle Grenfell uses owls that tell the narrator be swift and keen as they / as keen of ear, as swift of
sight (25 26). A blackbird also tells him if this be the last song you shall sing, / sing well, for you may
not sing another (28 29). This is foreshadowing as well as personification as the animals are warning
him that he may die by giving him advice, such as the owls, or by telling him to sing for the last time
as the blackbird did because it is his last night alive. It is also personification because birds cannot talk
to humans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Violence ends Into Battle by the person either dying or by living. This can be seen when Grenfell
wrote he is dead who will not fight , meaning if you do not fight hard during the battle you will be
killed and the violence has ended for you (7). Grenfell also put when fighting shall be done, / great
rest, and fulness after dearth showing that if you live through the battle and it is over you can live the

Crime Prevention Programs Juvenile Delinquency
Crime is the one constant thing in our country that will always be around. For decades we have
enhanced our technology, changed our laws, put away criminals, but crime still, and will always exist.
Crime prevention programs are put into place to help prevent juveniles and adults from continuing to
go down a road of destruction and crime and hopefully lower the number of crimes committed each
day. These programs have been put in place not only to help the criminal, but to help society.
Crime Prevention is the anticipation, recognition, and appraisal of a crime risk, and the initiation of
action to remove or reduce it. Crime Prevention is an active approach utilizing public awareness and
preventive measures to reduce crime (New York State Police,2015). Preventing crime is one of the
biggest goals in the criminal justice system. It all starts at the lowest level which is preventing crime
with juvenile delinquency. Juvenile Delinquency is one of the biggest problems that today s criminal
justice system faces. In 1899, Cook County, Illinois, set up the country s first juvenile court. Today,
every state has a separate court system for juveniles (Roberts,2015,p.1). Juveniles are treated
differently than an adult when it comes to the courtroom. Children used to be

Process Of Memory Essay
Many wonder the process of memory storage. People during a day use a lot of space of the memory to
storage which will be used weekly. Memory in the psychology terms means a process in which
information is encoded, stored, and retrieved. When the information is encoded, it will allow the
information from the outside world to reach the senses as chemical and physical stimuli forms. The
first stage is when the change in information so the memory can be put into an encoding process.
Second stage is a storage process. In this process we get to know the details of what information and
how much we have over periods of time. The last process is the retrieval of the information that we
have stored stage. Here we try to locate it and return it back to our consciousness but sometimes it is
worthless because it varies on the information type we had stored. There are three types of information
processing: first is Encoding and Registration where we receive, process and combine the received
information, then is Storage where creation of permanent record of the encoded information, last is
Retrieval, recall or recollection where we call back the stored information in response of cue so it can
be used in a process or activity. Sensory memory allows an individual s retrain impressions of the
sensory information after the original stimulus has ceased. An example of this sensory memory is a
child s ability to write letters and make circles from twirling a sparkler at night, because when it

The House Of My Dream House Essay
My Dream Home
Home, the place one spends more time in their life and share special moments with family. Where one
expects to live permanently carefree, feel protected under the roof of their house. One day I want to
have a home that makes me feel well and where I can be safe and happy. The purpose of this essay is
to discuss and fine structural decisions I made about designing my dream house.
The house of my dream has to be huge, spacious, which would reflect my personality toward
innovations and new modern technological advances. . I would like my house count as much as
possible with green materials that serve to protect the environment I want my house to be located in a
place away from the disturbance of a big city, but at the same time not far from civilization. My
personality and lifestyle would allow me to feel comfortable in such a place like this. I think a perfect

This house style I think fits my personality, is more modern and sophisticated with a touch of
simplicity, still resembling aesthetic touches. Cultural values are not yet seem to be lost because you
can always add a sense of you to your house through decorative aspects. I think one way I would to
these without losing the significance of my house style is changing the color of my house. The major
distinction between these modern houses is that they are painted white, and I want mine to change a
bit by painting with some neutral color such as beige or gray. This would still keep the same format of
the house, but will add something unique about me to the house and it would show it to

Why Do Video Games Do Not Incite Violence
Video games do not incite violence because their contents are incomparable to reality. Although
gaming technology is constantly evolving, their basic setup remains the same: a controller to input
commands, speakers to resonate sound, a screen to project graphics, and a central unit to process
information, games, and link all the components together. For us, these elements mainly appeal to only
two primary senses: sight and sound. In the real world, we involve all five of our senses to monitor our
surroundings, but for games, we are limited to two. While taste and smell can be considered
insignificant for surveying environments, touch is inexorable. In any general first person shooter
game, simply pressing the left mouse button to fire and tapping ... Show more content on

According to Forbes, video games author and political blogger Eric Kain, More than half of mass
shooters over the last 30 years had mental health problems (Kain). He also imparted that people
between ages 18 and 25 also tend to report the highest rates of mental health issues (Kain). In most
cases, it is not the video games that culprits played to cause their violent behaviors, but rather their
mental condition. For the rest of the cases, however, the quick condemnation on video games
possessed other factors that contributed to violence. Author Karen Sternheimer detailed, Poverty,
neighborhood instability, unemployment, and even family violence fall by the wayside in most of
these studies (Sternheimer). Seldom do cases truly narrow causes down to video games, if any at all.
While it is easy to accuse, we shouldn t be quick to blame video games for offenders who indulged in
them and later exhibited violence when a myriad of other plausible causes exist as well. Video games
may appear to be the easiest explanation for violence, but are we answering the correct question with
it? Is it possible that we are only using video games because it is the quickest solution for a much
broader social complication? Morality says no: violent video games portray felonious acts and
brutality, so it is obvious that those who play it are more likely to manifest

Social Media Impact On Gender Equality
Have you ever thought about all of the injustices in the world and said, what can I do to help change
them? Three extraordinary people, Emma Watson, Mother Jones, and Mahatma Gandhi not only
thought these things but went out and took action to stop them. Emma Watson uses her social media
influence to enact change in gender equality. Mother Jones used peaceful protests, such as marching to
inform more individuals on the dark secrets of child labor. And Mahatma Gandhi developed
Satyagraha, the use of non violent civil disobedience to defend racial rights. These three individuals
fought for various human rights in similar peaceful ways while striving to make an impact in the
world around them.
Emma Watson was appointed UN female ambassador and has been giving speeches and using her
platform in the media to fight for an end to gender inequality since 2014. She says, I started
questioning gender based assumptions when at eight I was confused at being called bossy, because I
wanted to direct the plays we would put on for our parents but the boys were not . Along with many
other occasions throughout her childhood Emma did not understand why she had to act a certain way
just because she was born with a pink blanket and not a blue one. Emma Watson along with many
other women have been faced with this inequality all of their lives, and Emma states she s one of the
lucky ones. My life is a sheer privilege because my parents didn t love me less because I was born a
daughter.

Mandatory Public Assistance Programs
Can we continue to support individuals who abuse their welfare benefits? The public assistance
programs created during the 1930 s that have provided a safety net for people living below the federal
poverty level. Chemical dependency screenings and monthly account audits are presently needed to
thwart the irrational spending of supporting welfare recipients that misuse their benefits to obtain
illegal drugs or alcohol. I feel that drug screening new applicants or beneficiaries who currently
receive public assistance should become mandatory to strengthen the integrity, accountability, and
health of our welfare program in America.
First and most important, the integrity of our public assistance programs need strengthening.
Dispersing electronic food stamps and cash to welfare recipients who quickly spend a substantial
portion of their monthly allotment on illegal drugs or alcohol has caused distrust in a program that was

cash and purchases illegal drugs. To improve transparency, I would eliminate the ability to withdraw
currency from an automated teller machine by discontinuing the debit feature of an EBT card.
Changing a benefit card from debit to credit would remove paper currency from the equation, and
provide a detailed record of how an individual has spent their monthly cash award. After interviewing
a family friend who had received welfare for many years, she concurred that testing should be
implemented in order to receive benefits. She then clarified to me that every chemically dependent
welfare recipient she met in her life supported their drug or alcohol addiction with cash benefits
received while collecting welfare. She then went into detail on how food stamps were traded for half

Tobacco Products Cause And Effects
Introduction
Tobacco products, specifically cigarettes, are products that usually cause a slow, painful death. If death
is not eventually caused as a direct result of tobacco products, they can still result in various other
debilitating illnesses. It is not only health that the use of tobacco products causes to decline, but also
the monetary security of the individual indulging in these items. Whether it is money or health,
tobacco products cause severe degradation in both categories. Cigarettes and other items such as snuff
can be both directly and indirectly linked to many thousand cases of death and illness each year in the
United States. There is no benefit to be gained from use of these harmful reagents, and for that reason
a debilitating excise tax should be placed on tobacco products.
Addiction
All forms of tobacco, such as snuff, cigars, cigarettes, and chewing tobacco, contain the drug nicotine,
which accounts for the addictive nature of these products. Nicotine is absorbed into the bloodstream
when it is introduced to the body, this principle applies whether the tobacco is inhaled, smoked, or
chewed. When nicotine enters the bloodstream, it instantaneously begins to stimulate the adrenal
glands, otherwise known as the glands that produce adrenaline within the human body. This
adrenaline, also known as the hormone epinephrine, prompts the central nervous system of the
individual to increase things such as blood pressure, respiration, and heart rate (DrugFacts:

Essay On Revenge Of The Whale By Nathaniel Shilbrick
The novel Revenge of the Whale, as written by Nathaniel Philbrick, describes the harsh journey of a
crew aboard The Essex who are abandoned after having their ship attacked by a sperm whale. There
are three crucial parts to the Revenge of the Whale storyline; the first blood, the whale attack that split
the crew apart, and the jarring conditions near the end of the book where the crew was at the edge of
sanity.
The first scene that I would include in the movie would be the first blood that was drawn from the
whale(s) The Essex encountered. This scene is crucial for the movie because it explains how the crew
got their resources from the harpooned whale. These resources include blubber, spermaceti, and
ambergris. This situation could not be left out without changing the original story because it shows the
excitement and galavant smiles on the crew mate s faces. Also, without having harpooned and killed
the whale, the crew wouldn t have collected these items to earn money to provide for their families.
They all coaxed and cajoled their crews with words that evoked the savagery, excitement, and blood
lust associated with pursuing one of the largest mammals on the planet said an excited Nickerson

pay for equal work in the same organization. Employers may not pay unequal wages to men and
women who perform jobs that require substantially equal skill, effort, and responsibility within the
same organization. In the event that an employer is found guilty will be subject to a fine of $10,000, or

How Does Don Giovanni Contribute To The Enlightenment
Don Giovanni is a one of a kind character, yet so predictable living a certain lifestyle, almost to the
point of being mysterious. It is the enlightenment era however, where a lot of impossibilities were
being explored, and presented to the public in different forms, including this opera, Don Giovanni.
Although Don Giovanni seems like a total embodiment of immorality, he nevertheless carries some
admirable principles, sparkling the enlightenment idea through the story of Don Giovanni.
As we all know, the Enlightenment is known as the era of reasoning. Many had started to realize the
power of rational and logical thinking. Don Giovanni is a great example for this type of thinking.
Although more probably accuse him rather than praise him of seducing so many women, Giovanni has
his own reasoning to it. (How can it be fair if I just marry one woman) ? This is in fact capable of
bearing careful thoughts. It would not be fair for Giovanni to stay with one single woman, for thus not

Why Dynamite Is Important
Alfred Noble was a Swedish chemist, most famous for inventing dynamite. He may also be called a
business man, engineer, inventor, and philanthropist. Since he really didn t discover an element, I will

carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen. It also contains an absorbent that contains silicone. Now, let s
get into the details, starting with Carbon. Carbons atomic number is 6, its atomic mass is 12, and it has
6 protons, 6 neutrons and 6 electrons. The next element used in dynamite is Hydrogen. Hydrogen s
atomic number and atomic mass is 1, it has 1 proton, 1 electron, and 0 neutrons. The third element is
nitrogen. Nitrogen s atomic number is 7, it has an atomic mass of 14. It has 7 protons, neutrons, and

Sobrero created nitroglycerin in 1847, where he added glycerol to a mixture of concentrated nitric and
sulfuric acids. Nitroglycerin is colorless, and heavy. It s dense in water and very flammable. It may

13°C, it becomes less sensitive to heat and shock and has a less chance at exploding. Now that we

mother is Caroline Andrietta Ahlsell. Somewhere around Nobel was born, his father was having

The Growth And Peak Stage Of A Business Cycle
Business cycles contain several stages which span GDP and time itself. These stages are growth, peak,
recession and a trough or depression. These cycles repeat themselves over and over through out time
in the business world. The growth and peak stage of a business cycle are when companies are building
and providing great products and services. This is also the period when jobs are most abundant and
harder to fill because job positions are in demand. After the peak stage a risky point in time follows
which is the recession stage. During this time people tend to loose their jobs and it is a much harder
time to find a job as well. The depression stage is depressing to both companies and people because

We entered a depression period and this period lasted longer then some of the other periods in our
history. Many economists wonder why a recovery, which leads out of the depression and into the
growth stage, took longer then normal to begin. When looking back at history, I may have found the
answer. Big spending is required to make companies produce more and the biggest factor of spending
money is war. This paper will examine a close relation in our history of recession, war, and recovery.
Since 1950, there have been many recessions in the US, which greatly affected all Americans. At the
same time there have been innovations, technology, banking changes and political activities which
have been thought to have caused the recessions, and ultimately fixed the recessions. We will explore
a potential relationship between recovery and war as to the potential for speeding up a recovery. Not
too long ago, during the Great Recession of 2007 2009, employment had peaked in the first part of
2008 and then it declined. According to McConnell (2015), In the first part of 2010 job growth was
very slow to recover and economists have been vigorously debating why employment recovered so
slowly after the Great Recession of 2007 2009. The Great Recession began December 2007 and ended
in June 2009 (p.18). Banks had loaned excessive amounts of money to consumers

  • 3. Profit Maximization Model SAMPLE ANSWER FOR QUESTION 5 Profit making is one of the most traditional, basic and major objectives of a firm. Profit motive is the driving force behind all business activities of a company. It is the primary measure of success or failure of a firm in the market. Profit earning capacity indicates the position, performance and status of a firm in the market. In spite of several changes and development of several alternative objectives, profit maximization has remained as one of the single most important objectives of the firm even today. Both small and large firms consistently make an attempt to maximize their profit by adopting novel techniques in business. Specific efforts have been made to maximize output and minimize production and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are as follows 1. Profit maximization is the main goal of the firm. 2. Rational behavior on the part of the firm to achieve its goal of profit maximization. 3. The firm is managed by owner entrepreneur. Determination of profit maximizing price and output Profit maximization of a firm can be explained in two different ways. · Total Revenue and Total Cost approach. · Marginal Revenue and Marginal Cost approach. Profits of a firm are estimated by making comparison between total revenue and total costs. Profit is the difference between TR and TC. In other words, excess of revenue over costs is the profits. Profit = TR TC. If TR is equal to TC in that case, there will be break even point. If TR is less than TC, in that case, a firm will be incurring losses. In this case, we take in to account of total cost and total revenue of the firm while measuring profits. It is clear from the following diagram how profit arises when TR is greater than that of TC. 2. MR and MC approach In this case, we take in to account of revenue earned from one unit and cost incurred to produce only one unit of output. A firm will be maximizing its profits when MR= MC and MC curve cuts MR curve from below. If MC curve cuts MR curve from above either under perfect market or under imperfect market, no doubt MR equals MC but total output will not be maximized and hence total profits also will not be maximized. Hence, two conditions are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Métis only took up a small portion of Rupert s Land, but they still feared their culture and land rights were going to be taken away while still under Canadian control. • 6. The Characterism Of Human Nature In George Eliot s Silas... In George Eliot s Silas Marner there is one character who exemplifies the realism of human nature more than any other, and that is Godfrey Cass. He is painted such a way that the very fabric of his characterization begs for analysis. Eliot analyzes human nature through Godfrey s actions, or lack of them, and the resulting consequences of his decisions subsequently make Silas Marner a novel that draws a discussion of what good naturedness means in regards to action versus passivity. Godfrey s passivity is the driving force of the novel and in true Eliot fashion, it is his passivity that makes him both a victim and a villain. Godfrey is put forth as a fine, open faced, good natured young man (Eliot, 23). Immediately contrasted against his brother Dunstan, a spiteful jeering fellow, who seemed to enjoy his drink the more when other people went dry, Godfrey is painted a victim of circumstance and bad familial relations. The condition of Godfrey Cass is one among men who had felt the keen point of sorrow or remorse and whom thanks to their native human kindness was never driven into brutality (Eliot, 29). Godfrey s own circumstances are not his fault, rather he is better for them because he has not allowed them to change his nature. This framework is faulty, and nearly immediately after it is put forth, it is revoked. He is praised for being unlike his brother, who mocks him for his good naturedness when he says I m so easy and good natured. You ll take any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Isopid Behavior Lab Report Problem How will the behavior of ten isopods be influenced when given the option between decaying fruit and vegetables or Quick Oats and are observed every minute for a five minute time period to study the effect of different food stimuli on isopods? Hypothesis If ten isopods are given the option between decaying fruit and vegetables or Quick Oats and are observed every minute for a five minute time period to study the effect of different food stimuli on isopod behavior, then the isopods will be drawn towards the decaying fruit and vegetables because in its natural environment, an isopods diet is mainly composed of decaying plants, grasses, and foliage, meaning that the isopods will prefer the decaying fruit and vegetables over the Quick Oats as it is most similar to their natural diet. Design The manipulated variable in this lab is the different food stimuli; decaying fruit and vegetables. The responding variable in this lab is the number of isopods attracted to each choice chamber, decaying fruit and vegetables or Quick Oats. The range to be used is 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 minutes. The control group was set up by observing isopods behavior in soil for 10 minutes. The constant factors were the number of isopods used in each trial, 10 (approximately ... I chose to ask my sister, Nicolle, who is fifteen years of age and in the category of teenager, and asked my boyfriend, Collin, who is twenty one years of age and an emerging adult. Nicolle is a junior in high school, while Collin is a returned missionary attending Brigham Young University. Each of them has lived similar, yet quite different lives. Emerging adults have bills to pay, homework to do constantly, and a job to do. There isn t a whole lot of time left to spend with friends until you get all of your work done. The next question I asked both of them was, How much time do you spend each day online or texting your friends? Both Collin s and Nicolle s answers were very similar when it came to the texting part of the question. They both claim they text their friends from the moment they wake up to the moment they go to bed, so pretty much ALL DAY. The online part of the question was quite different. Nicolle stated that she doesn t spend a lot of time on the computer because she doesn t have time to be online surfing the Internet, but Collin, on the other hand, says he spends all day on the Internet for classes. The answers were quite similar, because social media and the Internet are a prominent figure in this generation s lifestyle. Another question I asked Collin and Nicolle was, How much time do you spend watching TV or Netflix/movies? Nicolle s answer was astonishing. It gets protected from predators who are out hunting for it and ready to pounce. There are many adaptations that allow the Sand Gazelle to survive in the blazing heat of the Sahara Desert, that allow it to live, grow, and reproduce. To start, one adaptation which supports the Sand Gazelle in surviving in the desert, is its color. As I have mentioned, the color of the Sand Gazelle helps it blend into its surroundings. This protects it from getting eaten by its enemies. The technique for camouflaging for any animal is its color. • 10. The Turn Of The Screw Analysis The Turn of the Screw is one of the most controversial works in literature and the text has provoked a variety of critical interpretations from its publication in 1898. In this novel, the governess tells her experience with two apparitions that no one but she could see. And the governess accuses the ghosts of servants for corrupting the children, Miles and Flora. Critics concerning about the truth of the story are divided two basic camps based on their acceptance or rejection of the governess s credibility as a storyteller. Some critics believe that the ghosts are real and the governess is a rational and credible narrator, while the others believe that the ghosts are hallucinations of the governess and regard the governess as an incredible and mentally abnormal narrator. Also, we could speculate the author s intention on the basis of his life experience and other works of Henry James. This essay will examine the reliability of the governess on the basis of the text and interpret Henry James s intention on the basis of other sources. The critics from psychanalytic perspective claim that the existence of ghosts is the governess s hysterical delusion. The ghost is the projection of governess s own sexual hysteria, which resulted from the conflict between native romantic impulses and idealistic innocence required by Victorian society (Renner). It is not only health that the use of tobacco products causes to decline, but also the monetary security of the individual indulging in these items. Whether it is money or health, tobacco products cause severe degradation in both categories. Cigarettes and other items such as snuff can be both directly and indirectly linked to many thousand cases of death and illness each year in the United States. Although more probably accuse him rather than praise him of seducing so many women, Giovanni has his own reasoning to it. (How can it be fair if I just marry one woman) ? This is in fact capable of bearing careful thoughts. It would not be fair for Giovanni to stay with one single woman, for thus not only would it be unfair to all the other women, but Giovanni would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It may explode if exposed to heat or fire for too long. Even though it is explosive in a liquid state, if frozen at 13°C, it becomes less sensitive to heat and shock and has a less chance at exploding. • 34. The Growth And Peak Stage Of A Business Cycle Business cycles contain several stages which span GDP and time itself. These stages are growth, peak, recession and a trough or depression. These cycles repeat themselves over and over through out time in the business world. The growth and peak stage of a business cycle are when companies are building and providing great products and services. This is also the period when jobs are most abundant and harder to fill because job positions are in demand. After the peak stage a risky point in time follows which is the recession stage. We entered a depression period and this period lasted longer then some of the other periods in our history. Many economists wonder why a recovery, which leads out of the depression and into the growth stage, took longer then normal to begin. When looking back at history, I may have found the answer. Big spending is required to make companies produce more and the biggest factor of spending money is war. This paper will examine a close relation in our history of recession, war, and recovery. Since 1950, there have been many recessions in the US, which greatly affected all Americans. At the same time there have been innovations, technology, banking changes and political activities which have been thought to have caused the recessions, and ultimately fixed the recessions. We will explore a potential relationship between recovery and war as to the potential for speeding up a recovery. Not too long ago, during the Great Recession of 2007 2009, employment had peaked in the first part of 2008 and then it declined. According to McConnell (2015), In the first part of 2010 job growth was very slow to recover and economists have been vigorously debating why employment recovered so slowly after the Great Recession of 2007 2009. The Great Recession began December 2007 and ended in June 2009 (p.18). Banks had loaned excessive amounts of money to consumers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Summary Of Where The Bird Sings Best Where the Bird Sings Best by Alejandro Jodorowsky Restless Books, March 31, 2015 After their son José drowns in a flood, Teresa and Alejandro Levi fall into dispute about the nature of religion. Teresa curses God s cruelty, and she scorns her faith keeping friends. Alejandro, on the other hand, is no stranger to suffering. He watched his own mother get axed to death by her mad Hungarian maid during a surge of anti Semitic pogroms in Ukraine, so he responds to his son s death by retreating more deeply into prayer. He prays so intensely that he breaks into the Interworld, an in between world of pure spirit. Here he meets a rabbi, and, much to Teresa s disbelief and frustration, this rabbi becomes Alejandro s constant companion and advisor in all things. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Teresa and Alejandro Levi are the narrator s grandparents, the formidable base of a macabre and surreal story that spans across three generations of family history, from Europe to South America, and ends with the narrator s birth in a Chilean mining town on Black Thursday, October 29, 1929. There is magic, sex, violence and persecution. The end date also marks the start of the Great Depression, and the reader is left with a tingling premonition that the narrator s mission now is to lead the world out of despair. If you are a fan of Jodorowsky s bizarre cult films, Holy Mountain (198 ), El Topo (198 ), or Santa Sangre (198 ) to name a few, you might agree that the prolific creator has indeed accomplished something to that effect with his ...
