Competitive Analysis Essay
UThe competitive analysis is an essential research process to conduct. By examining and
researching it allows me to see what content and features draws new users. It also acts as
inspiration research for ideas to develop during wireframing. The main competitors that would
rival the Snapchat app both have a modern aesthetics and it s clear how to use. Instagram, the
Facebook owned photo sharing app with 600 million monthly users, targeted Snap head on last
August when it launched Instagram Stories, a feature that very closely resembles Snapchat s own
My Story feature. Similar to My Story, Instagram Stories lets people string together several photos

Additionally, users may join common interest user groups organised by workplace, school,
hobbies or other topics, and categorise their friends into lists such as People From Work or
Close Friends . A modern app offers almost the same functionality. The key difference of this app
is the navigation and different colour functionality. However, overall it is well structured and
easy to use. However, with what I have discovered I believe it will out top these apps. Through
using the applications of my competitors and having a clearly look, it allowed me to ensure I
satisfy my users and find out ways to advance the application as stated earlier. On a weekly basis
if there are meetings, this ensures the deadlines are met and if there are any changes it will be
fully discussed on how the overall process is going. Also, through talking to user s who use the
current apps, that I am competing with allows me to have a broader understanding on how to
ensure it is at the top. As well as, working with a properly structured budget points out what
aspects of the business produce money and which ones use it, which forces management to
consider whether it should drop some parts of the business, or expand in others. APP

The Presidential Election of 2016 is making an impact in, on, and around America. Military and
War on Terror is a topic that is based on where the government is sending troops; when they are

Types Of Bridges Research Paper
TESL 301
Different types of Bridges Research Paper
Because of advancements in today s technology in construction field, many types of bridges are
being constructed depending on the requirement and their suitability for the situations.
A bridge is a structure providing path over an obstacle. When constructing a bridge, obstacle can be
a river, railway track or a valley and the path provided by bridge can be for a road, pedestrians, a
railway, pipelines, viaducts to carry water from rich areas to dry cities, or for commercial purpose
to host commercial buildings such as restaurants and shops. A bridge can also be laid to reduce the
distance of travel which in turn reduces the time to reach the destination.
(Vasani, 2011) Many components when assembled together form a bridge structure. Basic
components of a bridge are superstructure or Decking, Bearings, Substructure which again consists
of Piers and Abutments, Wing walls and Returns, and Foundation.
Superstructure bears the load that is being passed over the bridge and it transmits the forces caused
by the same to substructure. Load received from the decking is transferred on to the substructure by
Bearings. They also distribute the load evenly over the substructure material as it may not have
sufficient strength to bear the superstructure load directly. Piers and Abutments are the vertical
substructures which transfer the load to the earth in the foundation. Wing walls and returns are
constructed as the extension of

Daniel Shays As An American Officer
Daniel Shays
Daniel Shays served role as an American officer in the American Revolution from 1775 to 1780
and also became known as one of the leaders of Shays Rebellion, which lasted from 1786 to 1787.
In 1780 he resigned from the army, and settled in Pelham, Massachusetts, where he held numerous
town offices. Soon after, wealth reigned in America at the signing of the peace treaty in 1783, but
was quickly transformed into a severe economic depression. He began his rebellion when property
holders, including himself, began losing their belongings through confiscations for unpaid debts
and taxes and became subject to debtor s imprisonment. Protests then followed, with threats of
violence against the courts conducting the enforcements and arraignments. This is when Shays
arose as one of the several leaders of what came to be known as Shays Rebellion. After the
Rebellion was over, he and approximately a dozen others were sentenced to death by the Supreme
Court of Massachusetts. However, towards the end of the rebellion, Shays had escaped to
Vermont, soon afterwards he moved to Schoharie county, New York, and then a few years later
moved further west to Sparta, New York. Shays, in his old age, was granted a retirement pension
by the federal government for the five years he served in the Continental Army without pay. He
lived the last couple years of his life in poverty, as a heavy drinker and supported himself on his
pension by working a small piece of land. He later

Fever 1793 Compared To Modern Times
Time Period in Fever 1793 Compared to Modern Times Fever 1793 is a historical fiction novel
written by Laurie Halse Anderson that describes how Yellow Fever affected lives of everybody
during the three months of sickness and panic in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Life today is more
straightforward than it was in 1793 because of the technology. Fever 1793 is a story about a
young girl, Matilda Mattie Cook, who faces challenges surviving in a Yellow Fever struck city
(Philadelphia). Mattie loses her grandfather on her journey of survival and her mother is
nowhere to be seen, leaving Mattie to grow up and survive her journey alone. If the story was
taking place in modern times, Mattie and the rest of Philadelphia would not struggle as much as
they did in the story. The modern day technology that is here today allows this generation to
progress through life smoother. Today s technology would have a significant, positive impact on
the community during 1793. If the people of Philadelphia had the knowledge of symptoms and
treatments of Yellow Fever, they would have known for sure if the fever was occurring in the
beginning and they would have also known how the fever was to... Show more content on

The proper treatment was to get bed rest and take it easy for a couple of days, but some, like Dr.
Benjamin Rush, thought the correct treatment was to drain out blood. Mattie s mother, Lucille,
is an unlucky victim of Yellow Fever. The text states, I flinched as the lancet flashed and blood
from Mothers arm poured into the basin. Dr. Kerr handed me a second basin when the first was
full. The incorrect treatment could have killed Matilda s mother, but it is lucky Lucille survived.
The statistics of the lives taken by Yellow Fever were over six thousand dead. If they had proper
knowledge of treatment as doctors do now, there would have been less casualties and more

Frederick Henry Discovered Essay
Frederick Henry Discovered In A Farewell to Arms, Ernest Hemingway uses his idea of the
code hero to introduce us to an amazing character. Hemingway takes his own ideas and conveys
them through Frederic Henry. During World War I Frederic Henry proves to us that war and lost
love can change a strong and willing man. Most men are not willing to change and Frederic
Henry realized that in order for him to survive the many problems he was faced with, he would
have to become a more mature man, love and solider.
Hemingway s code hero is portrayed in most every novel that Hemingway wrote. He takes his main
character and makes him someone that is hard to change and even harder to make realize the
situations around him. His code ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was a performance for Jordan (the main character in For Whom the Bell Tolls) because he
felt that since this was his job in the war, people might look on his actions for years to come. He
wanted people to remember his good performance. The code hero does not want to do anything
that could affect what his orders are. Frederic especially wanted to do everything possible in the
war that he could. He must keep himself in good health in order to do his duty and serve in the
war (Hemingway, A Farewell to Arms63). Although Hemingway tried to portray Henry as a well
established man, he sometimes is confused and not sure of what to do. What Hemingway
portrays, in fact, is a good, albeit a disappointed and disillusioned, man trying to fulfill his
various obligations (Nolan 271). He is trying to make his relationship last since he is in love and he
is also trying to take care of his duty s in the war.
Although the story is told through first person narration, we know that Frederic is a clean shaven
man who is tall in stature and although he is not handsome, he is attractive which makes him fit
into Hemingway s code hero. He shows us that he is a strong man and you realize this by
everything he has to go through during his time of service. He is a strong man by fighting for a
country that isn t even is. By fighting for another country he is trying to discover himself and he
wants from life. He is trying to discover what he truly wants.

The purpose of conduct this paper is to address the qualitative research method are always deal with
subjectivity compare to quantitative. First, what is research? Research was exploring the
distinctions between qualitative and quantitative forms of research that we need to consider the
different between ontological and epistemological questions we considered when discussing
positivism, interpretive and critical paradigms. Qualitative as known as critical studies have
generated insightful theories, concepts, and findings that can be explored further and advanced
using quantitative approaches. Furthermore, qualitative researchis used by anthropologies and

Theme Of Respect In The Oddyseyy
As Confucious once said Without feelings of respect, what is there to distinguish men from
beasts? Respect is a powerful word, and a powerful manner of showing how much you care about
someone s beliefs, and how much you would care to spectate things in their perspective. Respect
can be seen as a dominant theme in the Oddyseyy, not only because it is repeated often, but also
because it is repeated effectively. Main focuses of respectare for the gods, but also many god like
mortals with great charisma have the chance of getting such respect. The main compositions of
respect we see in the book emerge when the characters show fondness to the gods out of their own
love, when they beseech the gods for mercy, and when they show their regards for the mighty and
the fit.
Firstly, it is important to show love to someone you respect. You see, respect and love are mutual;
without one, you may not have the other. But showing love to a superior entity is different, not
only because you might not encounter them personally, but also because you can t love someone
you don t know, and therefore can cause a weak chain of repect. In the Odyssey, gods are respected
because they sprout fear in the hearts of men, not because they are loved or adored; It s just a
formal way of respect which we can apply to our lives, because we may not always love our
nagging boss, or our demanding teachers. The book shows ridiculous respect for the gods (at most
circumstances), not because of love, but

Essay On Schizoid Personality Disorder
On the other hand, people with Schizotypal Personality Disorder are characterized by a pervasive
pattern of social and personal limitations. They experience serious discomfort in social
environments and have a lower capacity for close relationships. For these reasons, they tend to be
socially isolated, reserved, and distant. Like Schizoid Personality Disorders, people who suffer
from Schizotypal Personality Disorder have few social relationships, but unlike the schizoid, these
people desire to have social relationships. Unlike the Schizoid Personality Disorder, they also
experience perceptual and cognitive distortions and eccentric behavior. These people are poor at
judging how others perceived them. Corinne Zupanic in the magazine Mental Health and Wellness

Causes of Workplace Stress

faced by people in the workplace make the job more exciting and interesting. However, there are
challenges that can also have negative effects. The normal reaction to stress is tension, anxiety and
excitement and work life goes back to normal after a while. If however, the stress becomes
overwhelming or if it happens too often, there can be a problem getting back to the normal state
and one is no longer able to relax. The most common causes of stress in the workplace are the

Work bullies or co workers who make life miserable for you can also be a cause of workplace stress.
Job stress for women can also be caused by sexual harassment from colleagues or superiors. The
constant worry and isolation gives so much tension to a female employee leading to a hostile work
environment. This is a situation in which one is forced to deal with an intimidating and offensive
workplace everyday. This affects the ability to perform and to grow and be given credit in one s
chosen career. Success and advancement becomes hard, making the female worker frustrated and
unsatisfied.
One of the worst causes of stress in almost all workplace is a hostile working environment that can
come as a result of workplace bullying, sexual harassment or discrimination. These problems can
only be solved if a worker is well aware of her rights and if the company or the organization has
provided a proper forum that will address and solve such problems.
In the workplace, stress can be the result of any number of situations. Some examples include:
Categories of Job StressorsExamples
Factors unique to the job workload (overload and underload)
pace / variety / meaningfulness of work
autonomy (e.g., the ability to make your own decisions about our own job or about specific tasks)
shiftwork / hours of work

Formal Speech of Animal Farm By: George Orwell
Old Major, a prize winning boar, gathers the animals of the Manor Farm for a meeting in the big
barn. He tells them of a dream he has had in which all animals live together with no human beings
to oppress or control them. He tells the animals that they must work toward such a paradise and
teaches them a song called Beasts of England, in which his dream vision is lyrically described. The
animals greet Major s vision with great enthusiasm. When he dies only three nights after the
meeting, three younger pigs, Snowball, Napoleon, and Squealer formulate his main principles into
a philosophy called Animalism. Late one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Symbols: Animal Farm
Animal Farm, known at the beginning and the end of the novel as the Manor Farm, symbolizes
Russia and the Soviet Union under Communist Party rule. But more generally, Animal Farm stands
for any human society, be it capitalist, socialist, fascist, or communist. It possesses the internal
structure of a nation, with a government (the pigs), a police force or army (the dogs), a working
class (the other animals), and state holidays and rituals. Its location amid a number of hostile
neighboring farms supports its symbolism as a political entity with diplomatic concerns.
The Barn
The barn at Animal Farm, on whose outside walls the pigs paint the Seven Commandments and,
later, their revisions, represents the collective memory of a modern nation. The many scenes in
which the ruling class pigs alter the principles of Animalism and in which the working class
animals puzzle over but accept these changes represent the way an institution in power can revise
a community s concept of history to bolster its control. If the working class believes history to lie
on the side of their oppressors, they are less likely to question oppressive practices. Moreover, the
oppressors, by revising their nation s conception of its origins and development, gain control of the
nation s very identity, and the oppressed soon come to depend upon the authorities for their
communal sense of self.

A Study On The Life Cycle Study Of A Small Business Essay
INTRODUCTION
By examining a range of published journal articles on the life cycle study of a small business this
report shows that different researchers have different views as to the growth of a small
business. The article will be looking at the definition of a small business and how it relates to
Private Fly. Also, it will be describing the different lifecycle models with reference to the article
HOW I MADE IT , how they relate to Private Fly and a critical analysis of these models. It also
looks at entrepreneurial traits as a tool that affect the growth of a small business and critical analysis
of these traits. There is no single definition for small business an earlier attempt was given by
Bolton Report (1971). Which suggests two definitions of small business. Firstly, he says a business
is small if it meets three criteria s:
Independent
Manged in a personalised manner
Relatively small share of the market
Secondly, he described it using a quantitative approach using assets, turnover, profitability and
employment. However, Katz and Green (2007) describes a small business as when it involves 1
to 50 people and has its owner managing the business on a day to day basis. Various researchers
have come up with different models to analysis the lifecycle of a small business.

Engineering Ethics Of The Engineering Profession
Engineering is a pylon of human development and technology, having a significant impact on people
s daily lives. Engineering has improved humanity in every aspect (e.g. transportation,
communication, medicine) and it has the potential to overcome the challenges that mankind still
faces. However, engineers have responsibility for their actions and they must learn to follow a set
of ethical principles relating to their work. All of which have to be followed to the letter otherwise
there can be severe consequences. Ethicsis the study of the characteristics of morals and involves
the moral choices made by individuals as they interact with other persons. Engineers need to be
aware of ethics as they make choices during their professional practice of engineering. Engineering
ethics will be defined as the rules and standards governing the conduct of engineers in their roles
as professionals. Several cases have led to an awareness of the importance of ethics within the
engineering profession as engineers realize how their technical work has far reaching impacts on
society. The work of engineers can affect public health and safety and can influence business
practices and even politics. (Fledderman,2004) Exploring beyond the known frontiers of Earth is
a challenging job, this is the responsibility of aerospace engineers who are in extreme danger for
every second of these missions, therefore the job requires extreme levels of courage. Mankind has

Social Media Networking Technologies
Social Media Networking Technologies Introduction The potential of social media to significantly
improve the performance of enterprises by accelerating collaboration, communication and creating
a greater level of knowledge sharing is seen across a myriad of commercial, educational and
government implementations. The intent of this analysis is to evaluate the use of two social
networking technologies that the university can use to accelerate and accentuate their learning
objects. The strengths and weaknesses of two social networking technologies are evaluated, in
addition to an analysis of how they will impact the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) of
existing university IT investment. Social Media and Networking Technologies Contribution to
Education The cornerstones of long term learning are autonomy, mastery and purpose. The use of
electronic scaffolding as a means to enable autonomy, mastery of learning programs in general and
the use of social media specifically shows significant pontifical for higher education institutions
(Najjar, 2008). The technologies chosen for the university are designed to allow for very precise
scaffolding of educational content while also allowing for rapid collaboration and communication
across departments and between students and instructors. The first social media platform is a
campus wide intranet that will give students the ability to collaborate and communication 24/7 with
each other and instructors, while also having a

The Republican Party And The Democratic Party Essay
The Republican Party has long relied on the support of older, white, conservatives. Regrettably,
they are a shrinking portion of the voting population. The problem that they face is a shrinking
voter base, mainly due to age. As their electorate shrinks, it is imperative for the party to appeal to
the more liberal younger generations for support. The Republican Partyneeds to look forward to
true reform. Above all, the party needs to abandon much of their social conservatismto appeal to
millennials interests to stay relevant on the national political scene.
David Frum offers four potential solutions for where the Republican party can go from here. He
himself believes that the first two considerations of doubling down on elite backed candidates or
tactical concession on immigration are unhelpful and too narrow respectively. Therefore, his most
confident considerations are in his third and fourth options. His fourth choice to keep the
Republican party relevant is, in his words, to change the rules of the game. (Frum 2016) Parties
are in favor of processes that help advance their (or limit the other party s) political and
ideological goals. Frum recognizes that outside of the presidential election, Republicans have done
quite well on down ballot elections. For this reason, they have the ability to exert considerably
more control over voting and election processes than Democrats. For example, having the ability to
gerrymander as well as change voter registration rules

Ebola Essay
Ebola Impact on Human Health amp; Hygiene Essay
Historically Ebola has had a serious impact on human health and hygiene and still does due to the
fact of no vaccine or treatment being discovered, but thanks to improvements in scientific and
medical knowledge the virus itself is now controllable.
Ebola is the virus Ebolavirus (EBOV), a viral genus, and the disease Ebola hemorrhagic fever
(EHF), a viral hemorrhagic fever (VHF). The virus is named after the Ebola River Valley in the
Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly Zaire), which is near the site of the first recognized
outbreak in 1976 at a mission hospital run by Flemish nuns. It has remained largely obscure until
1989 when several widely publicized outbreaks occurred among ... Show more content on

In 2003 a vaccine using an adenoviral vector carrying the Ebola spike protein was tested on crab
eating macaques. The monkeys were challenged with the virus twenty eight days later, and
remained resistant.
Outbreaks of Ebola, with the exception of Reston Ebolavirus, have mainly been restricted to
Africa. * The Zaire virus, formerly named Zaire Ebolavirus, has the highest case fatality rate, up
to 90% in some epidemics, with an average case fatality rate of approximately 83% over 27
years. The first outbreak took place on 26 August 1976 in Yambuku. * The Sudan Ebolavirus
was the second species of Ebola emerging simultaneously with the Zaire virus. It was believed
to have originated amongst cotton factory workers in Nzara, Sudan. The most recent outbreak
occurred in May 2004 in Yambio County, Sudan. The average fatality rates for SEBOV were
54% in 1976, 68% in 1979, and 53% in 2000 and 2001. * The Reston Ebolavirus was discovered
during an outbreak of Simian hemorrhagic fever virus (SHFV) in crab eating macaques from
Hazleton Laboratories (now Covance) in 1989. Since the initial outbreak in Reston, Virginia, it
has emerged in Siena Italy, Texas, and among pigs in the Philippines. Despite its status as a Level
4 organism, it is non pathogenic to humans although hazardous in monkeys. * The Ivory Coast

The Patent Law Of Taiwan
This thesis is to address the possibility of adapting the patent law in Taiwan, compared with what is
done in India. These adjustments utilize the so called TRIPS flexibilities embodied in the TRIPS
Agreement (The Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights), as Annex
1C of the Marrakesh Agreement establishing the World Trade Organization (hereinafter the WTO)
which came into effect in January, 1995. As a trade off between promoting knowledge diffusion
and exclusivity to use the knowledge, the patent system is part of the minimum standard established
in the course of the globalization of intellectual propertyright (IPR). The formation of TRIPS also
demonstrates that the strength of private sector and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of the root of the intellectual property rights inevitably goes to the inherent public goods
analysis, favoring partially the inventor s power of control will become a burden for users and
competitors. Excessive protection may ultimately reduce competition barrier and weaken the
power of the national innovation. If developing countries can render their laws to curve it to the
pro competitive strategy, and this would allow the technology free rider countries to become fair
followers, as Professor Reichman indicates. In this way, developing countries can make use of
TRIPS flexibilities, because wiggle room in fact exists in the TRIPS Agreement. For example,
Brazil employs this idea in constructing its compulsory license requirements in its copyright law;
South Africa adopted a more stringent patent protection than the TRIPS Agreement demands while
incorporated a safeguard clause to facilitate the use of essential drugs. Another good example of
employing TRIPS flexibilities is the patent law of India. Before the TRIPS Agreement was
negotiated, India s patent law did not regard pharmaceutical chemicals as subject matter of
protection and India consequentially became one of world s top generic drug producers. However,
in order to comply with

Analysis Of A Complicated Kindness
Literature is arguably the most significant aspect taught in high school. It allows us to expand our
minds to interpret human nature and its consequences. Several high school curriculums neglect the
importance of improving the novels to better fit current generations, which consequently reduces its
impact. A Complicated Kindnessis a novelby Miriam Toews that should be implemented in the
English curriculum, as it not only relates to high schoolers in today s society, but is also deemed
one of the best Canadian books through its personal touch and prominent themes that relate to other
important novels. Novels in the curriculum have a level of significance in the literature world that
evidently shows its importance and authenticity. A Complicated Kindness has been awarded with
several awards such as the prestigious Governor General s Award for English Fictionin 2004 and the
CBA Libris Fiction Award. It has also been regarded as the novel all Canadians should read in the
2006 Canada Reads competition. Numerous critics have noted the personal touch that comes from
Toews extensive background. A critical review from Margaret Boe Birns states, A Complicated
Kindness explores both the old fashioned world of the Mennonites and its bete noire of encroaching
modernity and although the Mennonite community is subjected to a great deal of Toews brilliant
wit, it is interesting to see the degree in which it survives her interrogation. The author has her own

Creating A Legal Taxonomy Of Privacy
Differentiating Meanings of Privacy Invasion of privacy did not exist as a separate tort prior to
the 20th century. In 1960, William Prosser described how privacy came to be established in tort
law and how many distinct torts fit within it, including torts for intrusion, public disclosure of
private facts, and placing a person in a false light. Daniel Solove builds off of Prosser s work,
constructing a legal taxonomy of privacyfocused on information collection, information processing,
information dissemination, and intrusion. As this thesis aims to gain insight into how privacy has

is largely considered a landmark case as the Court s unanimous decision resulted in the
establishment of the exclusionary rule prohibiting the submission of evidence to court which was

Volkswagen Ad Comparison
1)The print advertisement I choose for this assignment was the 1960 Volkswagen ad Lemon by
DDB. This advertisement used by Volkswagen was predominantly a reminding advertisement to
show the public that there s more to Hitler s favorite car. This ad reminded people not only of the
Beetle, but all VW s are in fact held to superior forms of quality, and craftsmanship. The ad itself
right away draws your attention, you see a black and white beetle over the words, lemon. At the
moment you think is this a comparative ad from one of Volkswagencompetitors, but it s not.
Deeper into the ad you see why they call it a lemon; the car may look perfect to the naked, but to
VW s standards it s not. This ad draws your attention in, and it engages you to think just, why is
VW calling one of their cars a lemon? It communicates to you that not only VW, but in the grand
scheme of things German engineering or craftsmanship, is held above all else.

standard equipment compared to other vehicles in its class. The ads are bright, colorful, and
informative about the car, making sound like it s a great deal, but it also brings up memories. In
the ad the song On The Road Again by Willie Nelson is playing, and he also makes a cameo

the people who experienced the 60 s. I think this ad is a good one it information the public on how

Thyroidism Case Study Essay
During the review of this scenario it was concluded based on laboratory test that were ran that the
nurse was experiencing hyperthyroidism. The nurse came in due to abnormal symptoms that she
was experiencing, symptoms which are often associated with thyroid problems. This lead to the
healthcare providers running test to check her thyroid. Hyperthyroidismis when a person s thyroid
gland produces an excess amount of thyroid hormonethan is necessary for the human s body.
Since the hormone is so prevalent in the body and is in control of the bodies energy, if there is a
deficiency or surplus of thyroid hormone it will vastly alter the way the body works. When

showed that her T4 was 15.6 ug/dL which is above the normal range and a sign of

Price dispersion, competition, and the role of online travel agents: Evidence from business routes in
the Italian airline market
In this study they use research to further understand what s driving price dispersion? They
investigate very distinct factors between online travel agents and airlines direct channels influence
price dispersion. Airline markets are characterized by the existence of substantial price dispersion,
to be intended as a measure of price variations in the market. Indeed, it is not unusual to see
travelers on the same flight paying very different prices for the very same seats. This is due to the
fact that airlines are able to distinguish among different types of customers and practice price
discrimination, with the help of mechanisms such as advance selling, loyalty programs,
nonrefundable tickets, etc. In addition, airline companies typically face uncertain demand with a
fixed inventory consisting of very perishable products. Accordingly, they utilize revenue
management systems to maximize revenues by dynamically adjusting prices for their seats based
on whether the current booking is above or below expected values. The study of price dispersion in
the airline industry can provide numerous important implications for firms, consumers and
authorities in terms of firms pricing power, price discrimination, product differentiation, and
reduction of search costs. For this reason, many researchers have devoted themselves to the study
of price dispersion in

Comparing Gilgamesh s Polpol Vuh And Other Myths
Polpol Vuh and other Myths After reading the book Polpol Vuh, I was able to instantly point out
many similarities and differences between two other myths that we have read throughout the
class. The first myth that came to mind was Genesis. Genesis and Polpol Vuh both talk of
creation of animals, trees, and mountains, as well as the creation of mankind, After doing
research in the past, I knew that Genesis and Gilgamesh had similarities which then put
Gilgamesh in the category with Polpol Vuh and Genesis. While reading these tales, I was also
able to answer a series of questions based on my opinions. In this essay, I will explain my beliefs
about what the people in these three tales seem to believe about how they came to be, what
qualities they share, what is important to them, why their creator(s) make them, their reason for
being where they are and lastly, what a good person and bad person would be like if these people
wanted to be like their creator(s). I believe that the people in Genesis believe that they are created
from Gods image. In genesis, it states, And God created the human in his image, in the image of
God He created him, male and female He created them. (Norton Vol. A 159)

Representation of the Feminine in Select Ghost Stories of Ruskin Bond
Ruskin Bond is one of those rare authors whose writings have been loved and accepted by
readers of all ages and groups. His depiction of small town life in India and of ordinary
individuals struggling to make their lives and dreams worthwhile has an almost undeniable sense
of appeal and beauty. His stories usually reflect this simplicity and good humour that have come to
be associated with most of Bond s writing. Yet, there are certain aspects to his writing as it is true
of any other great writer that deal with deeper and darker themes even if they aren t immediately
apparent. In this paper an attempt has been made to analyse certain stories of the supernatural by
Bond in order to assess how the character of the female has been represented with a special
emphasis on examining an element of the sinister which seems to be associated with each of these
women. Whether as ghosts or as real, living individuals, these women exhibit a tendency to inflict
harm on other characters which marks them as being decisively dangerous. What this paper tries to
ascertain is whether these female characters can be simply branded as being evil or if there are
actual, justifiable reasons behind their actions which provokes them to act in the ways they do. The
study thus seeks to shed some light on the intentions and motivations of these characters who are
evidently more complex than they initially appear to be.

point, they did not know that AF meant Midway and not the Aleutian Islands) and who would

and he said one of the destroyer Captains should command it and Nimitz was surprised but
agreed. Then Nimitz went to the repair yard at the docks and when they were asked about how
long it would take to repair the carrier because they needed it for wherever AF was. The repair
crew replied that to fix the damaged carrier they would need 3 months to repair it Nimitz replied
saying we don t have 3 months, I will give you 3 days to fix it. When they were done it was not

College Tailgate Event Analysis
According to dictionary.com, a tailgate is an outdoor party or picnic, typically served in the
parking lot of a sports stadium, and served on the tailgates of station wagons. This definition
slightly differs from of the actual description of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte s
advertisement for the tailgate event on campus. The event was described as a fun filled tailgate
with free food and giveaways. At the UNCC, college tailgates provide a platform in which students
can display their school pride in various student oriented social activities such as free food, music,
and miscellaneous items (school shirts, hats, school pencils etc.) prior to a popular sports game
such as basketball or football. Within the tailgate, competitiveness... Show more content on

Dominance correlates to competitiveness because it gives a sense of power. Power as discussed in
class can be described as ability to exercise one s will which can alter the attitude of the opponent
once defeated. In relation to the discussions in class power is gained by competitiveness. For
example, the tailgate encourages students to prepare for the battle against another opponent. In the
Journal of Consumer Psychology it states, ...competitiveness was guided by three situational
contexts in which the motivation to win and defeat others may impact consumer behavior (Mowen
54). Now this competitiveness is universal but in terms of both men and women it differs slightly. I
noticed at the men were expressing their confidence and competitiveness in comparison to the
women. Gender role within the difference of competition is a factor due to the cultural norm that
men are supposed to be aggressive as a trait of masculinity and women are supposed to be
submissive as a trait of femininity. In the research article, Gender and Competition, stated,
Laboratory studies have documented that women often respond less favorably to competition than
men...men are more eager to compete (Niederle and Vesterlund 601). Due the cultural norm that
men are supposed to be more aggressive and competitive, affects how women react to things that

Types Of Bridges Research Paper TESL 301 Different types of Bridges Research Paper Because of advancements in today s technology in construction field, many types of bridges are being constructed depending on the requirement and their suitability for the situations. A bridge is a structure providing path over an obstacle. When constructing a bridge, obstacle can be a river, railway track or a valley and the path provided by bridge can be for a road, pedestrians, a railway, pipelines, viaducts to carry water from rich areas to dry cities, or for commercial purpose to host commercial buildings such as restaurants and shops. A bridge can also be laid to reduce the distance of travel which in turn reduces the time to reach the destination. (Vasani, 2011) Many components when assembled together form a bridge structure. Basic components of a bridge are superstructure or Decking, Bearings, Substructure which again consists of Piers and Abutments, Wing walls and Returns, and Foundation. Superstructure bears the load that is being passed over the bridge and it transmits the forces caused by the same to substructure. Load received from the decking is transferred on to the substructure by Bearings. They also distribute the load evenly over the substructure material as it may not have sufficient strength to bear the superstructure load directly. Piers and Abutments are the vertical substructures which transfer the load to the earth in the foundation. Wing walls and returns are constructed as the extension of ... Daniel Shays As An American Officer Daniel Shays Daniel Shays served role as an American officer in the American Revolution from 1775 to 1780 and also became known as one of the leaders of Shays Rebellion, which lasted from 1786 to 1787. In 1780 he resigned from the army, and settled in Pelham, Massachusetts, where he held numerous town offices. Soon after, wealth reigned in America at the signing of the peace treaty in 1783, but was quickly transformed into a severe economic depression. He began his rebellion when property holders, including himself, began losing their belongings through confiscations for unpaid debts and taxes and became subject to debtor s imprisonment. Protests then followed, with threats of violence against the courts conducting the enforcements and arraignments. This is when Shays arose as one of the several leaders of what came to be known as Shays Rebellion. After the Rebellion was over, he and approximately a dozen others were sentenced to death by the Supreme Court of Massachusetts. However, towards the end of the rebellion, Shays had escaped to Vermont, soon afterwards he moved to Schoharie county, New York, and then a few years later moved further west to Sparta, New York. Shays, in his old age, was granted a retirement pension by the federal government for the five years he served in the Continental Army without pay. Hemingway takes his own ideas and conveys them through Frederic Henry. During World War I Frederic Henry proves to us that war and lost love can change a strong and willing man. Most men are not willing to change and Frederic Henry realized that in order for him to survive the many problems he was faced with, he would have to become a more mature man, love and solider. This was a performance for Jordan (the main character in For Whom the Bell Tolls) because he felt that since this was his job in the war, people might look on his actions for years to come. He wanted people to remember his good performance. The code hero does not want to do anything that could affect what his orders are. Frederic especially wanted to do everything possible in the war that he could. He must keep himself in good health in order to do his duty and serve in the war (Hemingway, A Farewell to Arms63). Although Hemingway tried to portray Henry as a well established man, he sometimes is confused and not sure of what to do. What Hemingway portrays, in fact, is a good, albeit a disappointed and disillusioned, man trying to fulfill his various obligations (Nolan 271). He is trying to make his relationship last since he is in love and he is also trying to take care of his duty s in the war. Although the story is told through first person narration, we know that Frederic is a clean shaven man who is tall in stature and although he is not handsome, he is attractive which makes him fit into Hemingway s code hero. Respect is a powerful word, and a powerful manner of showing how much you care about someone s beliefs, and how much you would care to spectate things in their perspective. Respect can be seen as a dominant theme in the Oddyseyy, not only because it is repeated often, but also because it is repeated effectively. Main focuses of respectare for the gods, but also many god like mortals with great charisma have the chance of getting such respect. The main compositions of respect we see in the book emerge when the characters show fondness to the gods out of their own love, when they beseech the gods for mercy, and when they show their regards for the mighty and the fit. Firstly, it is important to show love to someone you respect. You see, respect and love are mutual; without one, you may not have the other. But showing love to a superior entity is different, not only because you might not encounter them personally, but also because you can t love someone you don t know, and therefore can cause a weak chain of repect. In the Odyssey, gods are respected because they sprout fear in the hearts of men, not because they are loved or adored; It s just a formal way of respect which we can apply to our lives, because we may not always love our nagging boss, or our demanding teachers. The book shows ridiculous respect for the gods (at most circumstances), not because of love, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He tells them of a dream he has had in which all animals live together with no human beings to oppress or control them. He tells the animals that they must work toward such a paradise and teaches them a song called Beasts of England, in which his dream vision is lyrically described. Symbols: Animal Farm Animal Farm, known at the beginning and the end of the novel as the Manor Farm, symbolizes Russia and the Soviet Union under Communist Party rule. But more generally, Animal Farm stands for any human society, be it capitalist, socialist, fascist, or communist. It possesses the internal structure of a nation, with a government (the pigs), a police force or army (the dogs), a working class (the other animals), and state holidays and rituals. Its location amid a number of hostile neighboring farms supports its symbolism as a political entity with diplomatic concerns. The Barn The barn at Animal Farm, on whose outside walls the pigs paint the Seven Commandments and, later, their revisions, represents the collective memory of a modern nation. The many scenes in which the ruling class pigs alter the principles of Animalism and in which the working class animals puzzle over but accept these changes represent the way an institution in power can revise a community s concept of history to bolster its control. If the working class believes history to lie on the side of their oppressors, they are less likely to question oppressive practices. Moreover, the oppressors, by revising their nation s conception of its origins and development, gain control of the nation s very identity, and the oppressed soon come to depend upon the authorities for their communal sense of self. Regrettably, they are a shrinking portion of the voting population. The problem that they face is a shrinking voter base, mainly due to age. As their electorate shrinks, it is imperative for the party to appeal to the more liberal younger generations for support. The Republican Partyneeds to look forward to true reform. Above all, the party needs to abandon much of their social conservatismto appeal to millennials interests to stay relevant on the national political scene. David Frum offers four potential solutions for where the Republican party can go from here. He himself believes that the first two considerations of doubling down on elite backed candidates or tactical concession on immigration are unhelpful and too narrow respectively. Therefore, his most confident considerations are in his third and fourth options. His fourth choice to keep the Republican party relevant is, in his words, to change the rules of the game. (Frum 2016) Parties are in favor of processes that help advance their (or limit the other party s) political and ideological goals. Frum recognizes that outside of the presidential election, Republicans have done quite well on down ballot elections. I liked the part where he said that education should not just admiring what others have done, and that everyone should get involved. In an article, I read Seeger pointed out that music would not save the planet, either will books or speeches. Seeger would not testify about his past involvement with the Communist Party, and he was convicted of contempt of Congress, his conviction was overturned in 1961, but he was banned by TV networks for 6 years, even then parts of his anti Vietnam War song, Waist Deep in the Big Muddy, was censored. • 34. Price Dispersion, Competition, And The Role Of Online... Price dispersion, competition, and the role of online travel agents: Evidence from business routes in the Italian airline market In this study they use research to further understand what s driving price dispersion? They investigate very distinct factors between online travel agents and airlines direct channels influence price dispersion. Airline markets are characterized by the existence of substantial price dispersion, to be intended as a measure of price variations in the market. Indeed, it is not unusual to see travelers on the same flight paying very different prices for the very same seats. This is due to the fact that airlines are able to distinguish among different types of customers and practice price discrimination, with the help of mechanisms such as advance selling, loyalty programs, nonrefundable tickets, etc. In addition, airline companies typically face uncertain demand with a fixed inventory consisting of very perishable products. Accordingly, they utilize revenue management systems to maximize revenues by dynamically adjusting prices for their seats based on whether the current booking is above or below expected values. The study of price dispersion in the airline industry can provide numerous important implications for firms, consumers and authorities in terms of firms pricing power, price discrimination, product differentiation, and reduction of search costs. For this reason, many researchers have devoted themselves to the study of price dispersion in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Comparing Gilgamesh s Polpol Vuh And Other Myths Polpol Vuh and other Myths After reading the book Polpol Vuh, I was able to instantly point out many similarities and differences between two other myths that we have read throughout the class. The first myth that came to mind was Genesis. Genesis and Polpol Vuh both talk of creation of animals, trees, and mountains, as well as the creation of mankind, After doing research in the past, I knew that Genesis and Gilgamesh had similarities which then put Gilgamesh in the category with Polpol Vuh and Genesis. While reading these tales, I was also able to answer a series of questions based on my opinions. In this essay, I will explain my beliefs about what the people in these three tales seem to believe about how they came to be, what qualities they share, what is important to them, why their creator(s) make them, their reason for being where they are and lastly, what a good person and bad person would be like if these people wanted to be like their creator(s). I believe that the people in Genesis believe that they are created from Gods image. In genesis, it states, And God created the human in his image, in the image of God He created him, male and female He created them. (Norton Vol. A 159) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why is the Indian market untenable for Multinational Companies, yet at the same time attractive to global businesses? Discuss. It is true that India is not an easy market to understand and operate in. MNCs have realized this the hard way as their expectations have remained unfulfilled, and many have either suffered reverses or have had to wrap up their operations. Unable to figure out the reason for their failure, they have chosen to blame the market as erratic and fickle in its behavior. But this is not true as there is more to India than meets the eye. Similarly, when Nestle introduced iced tea in India, they were confident of their strategy which rested on the research data which pointed out that this was a country of the highest number of tea drinkers in the world and would embrace iced tea in the natural course of things. What their strategy missed out on and what their research did not inform them was the fact that Indians like their tea hot even on a hot summer day! They would reach out for a cold drink if they wanted something cold but it was simply alien to their conditioning and upbringing to be able to relate with the concept of having tea any other way than hot. • 38. Representation Of The Feminine Of Select Ghost Stories Of... Representation of the Feminine in Select Ghost Stories of Ruskin Bond Ruskin Bond is one of those rare authors whose writings have been loved and accepted by readers of all ages and groups. His depiction of small town life in India and of ordinary individuals struggling to make their lives and dreams worthwhile has an almost undeniable sense of appeal and beauty. His stories usually reflect this simplicity and good humour that have come to be associated with most of Bond s writing. Yet, there are certain aspects to his writing as it is true of any other great writer that deal with deeper and darker themes even if they aren t immediately apparent. In this paper an attempt has been made to analyse certain stories of the supernatural by Bond in order to assess how the character of the female has been represented with a special emphasis on examining an element of the sinister which seems to be associated with each of these women. Whether as ghosts or as real, living individuals, these women exhibit a tendency to inflict harm on other characters which marks them as being decisively dangerous. What this paper tries to ascertain is whether these female characters can be simply branded as being evil or if there are actual, justifiable reasons behind their actions which provokes them to act in the ways they do. The study thus seeks to shed some light on the intentions and motivations of these characters who are evidently more complex than they initially appear to be. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Once Nimitz talked to the Captain, he asked for his recommendation and he said one of the destroyer Captains should command it and Nimitz was surprised but agreed. Then Nimitz went to the repair yard at the docks and when they were asked about how long it would take to repair the carrier because they needed it for wherever AF was. The repair crew replied that to fix the damaged carrier they would need 3 months to repair it Nimitz replied saying we don t have 3 months, I will give you 3 days to fix it.
