Beginning from understanding the need to shift from conventional energy sources to Renewable Energy Sources (RES), the presentation talks about various technical and economic challenges faced in the process of increasing its penetration into the grid. The later half of the presentation describes various solar policies both at National (JNNSM) and State levels in India with emphasis on Gujarat and Karnataka state solar policies.
Energy generated by using wind, tides, solar, geothermal heat, and biomass including farm and animal waste is known as non-conventional energy. All these sources are renewable or inexhaustible and do not cause environmental pollution. More over they do not require heavy expenditure.
Natural resources that can be replaced and reused by nature are termed renewable. Natural resources that cannot be replaced are termed nonrenewable.
Renewable resources are replaced through natural processes at a rate that is equal to or greater than the rate at which they are used, and depletion is usually not a worry.
Nonrenewable resources are exhaustible and are extracted faster than the rate at which they formed. E.g. Fossil Fuels (coal, oil, natural gas).

In recent years, many works have been done in order to discuss economic dispatch in which wind farms are installed in electrical grids in addition to conventional power plants. Nevertheless, the emissions caused by fossil fuels have not been considered in most of the studies done before. In fact, thermal power plants produce important quantities of emissions for instance, carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) and sulphur dioxide (SO 2 ) that are harmful to the environment. This paper presents an optimization algorithm with the objective to minimize the emission levels and the production cost. A comparison of the results obtained with different optimization methods leads us to opt for the grey wolf optimizer technique (GWO) to use for solving the proposed objective function. First, the method used to estimate the wind power of a plant is presented. Second, the economic dispatch models for wind and thermal generators are presented followed by the emission dispatch model for the thermal units.Then, the proposed objective function is formulated. Finally, the simulation results obtained by applying the GWO and other known optimization techniques are analysed and compared.

Heuristic Optimization Technique for CHP-Wind Power Dispatchidescitation
This paper applies Differential Evolution (DE) for
solving combined heat and power dispatch (CHP) problem with
wind turbines. The CHP economic dispatch problem consist
of two sub problems, namely, heat dispatch and power dispatch.
The optimal dispatch utilization of multiple CHP units and
wind turbines is a complicated problem due to the complex
constraints such as feasible operating regions created by
mutual dependence of heat and power. The uncertainty of
wind speed and wind power is modeled using the Weibull
probability distribution. Economic dispatch is carried out for
cost optimization with varying wind power. The proposed
method is able to handle all complex constraints very
effectively without any violations. The developed optimization
model is tested and validated on a study system from literature.

The main objective of this paper is to introduce power system economic operations in traditionally integrated power systems and market operations in deregulated power systems and study its effects. The power system economic operation is mathematically treated as an optimization problem. Also, a function of economic operation is to minimize generation cost, transmission losses, and so on, subject to power system operation constraints. In this paper, we start from generation cost formulations and introduce traditional economic dispatch model, optimal power flow model, and unit commitment model. With the deregulation of the power industry, integrated power system is unbundled to generation, transmission, and distribution. Electricity is traded in the wholesale market. Small customers purchase energy from electricity retailers through the retail market. The electricity market is operated for energytrading while satisfying power system operation requirements. Electricity market is mathematically modelled as an optimization problem that is subject to power system operation constraints and market operation constraints.

Optimal tuning of a wind plant energy production based on improved grey wolf ...journalBEEI
The tuning of optimal controller parameters in wind plant is crucial in order to minimize the effect of wake interaction between turbines. The purpose of this paper is to develop an improved grey wolf optimizer (I-GWO) in order to tune the controller parameters of the turbines so that the total energy production of a wind plant is increased. The updating mechanism of original GWO is modified to improve the efficiency of exploration and exploitation phase while avoiding trapping in local minima solution. A row of ten turbines is considered to evaluate the effectiveness of the I-GWO by maximizing the total energy production. The proposed approach is compared with original GWO and previously published modified GWO. Finally, I-GWO produces the highest total energy production as compared to other methods, as shown in statistical performance analysis.

With depleting pace of natural energy resources and
pollution in the environment it is necessary to reduce the amount
of energy consumption. On the other hand price of energy is
increasing due to likely increase in oil prices. So it is necessary to
see the effect of energy cost in total machining cost. In the
present work conventional cost equation is modified to consider
the energy cost as variable of v, f and d instead of energy cost as
constant in conventional cost equation. Different costs are
compared by taking the particular value of parameters v, f and
d. It was found that energy as a variable cost have considerable
portion in total machining cost.
A solar PV array system is comprised of the following components - solar cells, panel modules, and an array system. Thus, overall optimal design of a solar PV system involves the optimal design of the components at three levels - solar cell, panel module, and array. In the present work, a comparison between different optimization methods is applied to design optimization of single channel Photovoltaic (SCPVT) system. The purpose of these methodologies is to obtain optimum values of the design parameters of SCPVT system, such that the overall economic profit is maximized throughout the PV system lifetime operational period which is not directly calculated in our work rather energy efficiency is calculated . Out of many design parameters available for this system, in the present work only few parameters are taken. The optimal design parameters chosen here are length of channel, depth of channel, velocity of fluid in the cell, and temperature of the cell. The objective function of the proposed optimization algorithm which is Gravitational Search Algorithm (GSA) implemented for design optimization of the system is the energy efficiency, which has to be maximized.

Abstract In this present investigation exergy and energy efficiencies of a coal fired 250 MW thermal power plant operating in eastern part of India are determined both for 100% and 90% load based on actual operating data. The efficiencies are evaluated for the overall plant as well as for different equipments like boiler, turbine, all feed water heaters and condenser. Similarly effectiveness of the feed water heaters is evaluated for both the loads. Exergy destruction % for each of the equipment are also given for clear understandingof the loss of available energy due to irreversibilities involved in the processes for each equipment and the whole plant. It is observed that a major irreversibility or, exergy destruction takes place at boiler though 1st law energy efficiency is quite high. This signifies that there might have further scope of improvement in this equipment. Similar analyses are carried out for other equipments. Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

In 2017, 73% of people enterprises are using windows operating system. So the application will easily install for all the windows operating system users. The application-developed size is very low. The application consumes very low space in disk. Therefore, the user can allocate very minimum local disk space for this application.

4. ★ EFFICIENCY OF POWER
In general terms, efficiency is the output of a process compared to the
input.
The electric power plant efficiency η is defined as the ratio between
useful electricity output from the generating unit, in a specific time unit,
and the energy value of the energy source supplied to the unit, within
the same time.
In power plant we have three types of efficiency:-
1.Heat rate (energy efficiency)
2.Operational efficiency
3.Economic efficiency
5. To express the efficiency of a generator or power plant
as a percentage, divide the equivalent Btu content of a
kWh of electricity (which is 3,412 Btu) by the heat rate.
For example, if the heat rate is 10,500 Btu, the efficiency
is 33%. If the heat rate is 7,500 Btu, the efficiency is
45%.

6. ★ OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY
Operational efficiency is the ratio of the total electricity produced
by the plant during a period of time compared to the total potential
electricity that could have been produced if the plant operated at
100 percent in the period.
Operational efficiency can be expressed as

E = energy output from the power plant in the period (kWh)
E100% = potential energy output from the power plant operated at
100% in the period (kWh)
7. ★ Economic Efficiency
Economic efficiency is the ratio between production
costs, including fuel, labor, materials and services, and
energy output from the power plant for a period of time.
Economic efficiency can be expressed as

C = production costs for a period (cents, euro, ..)
E = energy output from the power plant in the
