Achieving an economy in Construction nowadays takes a lot of effort. Various researches are being made to improve the quality of Concrete block so that it can achieve high strength in low weight. One such product was invented known as an Autoclave Aerated Concrete (AAC) block. Autoclave Aerated Concrete (AAC) block is attributed with properties such as a load-bearing, lightweight, high-insulating, and durable. Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) block consists of basic materials that are widely available including Sand, Cement, Fly Ash, Lime, Gypsum, Aluminium Powder Paste, Water and an Expansion agent. The major volume in Autoclave Aerated Concrete (AAC) is covered by silica sand and it is one of the world’s most abundant natural resources. The finished product is up to five times the volume of the raw materials used, with an air content of 70% to 80% which makes them lightweight. The effort is made to fulfil the framed objective of this analytical research is to study, Engineer, Consultants and Trader’s perceptions towards the use of Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) block in construction projects and to analyse, the data collected as per questionnaire survey of targeted respondents study. This objective was achieved by a deriving conclusion about whether the AAC blocks are much better than clay bricks or not, by soft computing. The soft computing was done using one of the Statistical Packages for the Social Science (SPSS) method. i.e. Chi-square test. Required data for the study was collected through questionnaires that were distributed among the respondents who work at various construction projects. Mainly Engineers, Consultants, Traders and Contractors were selected as a respondent to getting efficient and reliable technical data. Result of the survey proved that the AAC block are better compare to the clay bricks.
It is realized that Nepalese construction had undertaken a high rise in its image internationally and nationally and has been participating in various organization as an active member. Besides these, there are many rumours and conflicts about the capability of Nepalese contractors about their technical and financial ability for not completing the projects undertaken by them within the given timeframe and of standard quality. Although construction entrepreneur of Class A in Nepal, have the opportunities to withstand in construction industry (as country is still in construction phase of infrastructure development) with full enthusiasm and effort, they seems to be demoralized by the policies, rules, guidance and support from the government and procedure of procurement of donor agencies during bidding in Mega Projects.
The study has covered construction firms registered as class A construction entrepreneur. The numbers of construction firms studied were fifty one (51). Random sampling method was performed to select the respondents. A questionnaire was developed to collect the datas for the study. The close ended question, open ended question, and ranking method of prioritization was adopted to obtain the necessary datas from the respondents.
The purpose of the study was to compare the existing equipment capabilities of Class A construction entrepreneurs with the prescribed requirement as per CBA 2055 & CBR 2056 and also to determine the current capacity of the class A construction entrepreneurs in terms of technical and financial capabilities. The study also has covered the exploration of common problems and difficulties felt in criteria of achieving qualification documents during bidding procedure , receiving payment during payment schedule, , taxation part, hiring qualified human resource in different construction sector and insecure felt during stages of tender purchase, tender drop and construction site execution works by class A construction entrepreneurs.
Percentage, frequency and charts were used to analyze the data. The result has showed that, in owning equipments most of the companies have failed to meet the prescribed standard as per CBA 2055 & CBR 2056. Only few numbers of contractors are extremely satisfied with their business. There are various factors like annual turnover & similar experience part in qualification procedure, escalated amount & running bill payment in payment procedure, insecurity due to hooliganism in construction business during site execution and tender drop, taxation system during refunding of the tax deducted at source amount. The research has also shown the unavailability of human resources in tunnel sector, hydropower sector and bridge sector in construction sector in present context.

specialized literature, effective Criterias in Ready Mixed Concrete (RMC) selection and the Criterias
which will be used in their evaluation is extracted. For TOPSIS, the computations were carried out
using Microsoft Excel 2013. The weight of the Criterias is calculated first through Analytic
Hierarchy Process (AHP) and then it is analyzed by Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to
Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method. The respondents were selected from various construction
occupancy mainly Ready Mixed Concrete (RMC) Plant Managers, Consultants and Contractors.
Total 100 Survey Questionnaires were distributed to Respondents in Anand, Nadiad, Vadodara,
Ahmedabad, from which 60 Responses were collected as per sample size calculation, in that 21 were
from Ready Mixed Concrete (RMC) Plant Managers, 26 were from consultants and 13 were from
contractors.The problem solution result shows: Respondent no. 3 (R3) is best because of its largest
weight age and Respondent no. 25 (R25) is worse because of its smallest weightage.

Performance evaluation of the explicit approximations of the implict colebroo...eSAT Journals
Abstract
The implicit Colebrook equation has been the standard for estimating pipe friction factor in a fully developed turbulent regime. Several artificial intelligence (AI)-based and non AI-based explicit models have been developed as viable replacement for the implicit Colebrook equation. However, it is not obvious which of the models and/or approaches is the best. In this paper, the performances of the available non AI-based explicit models were compared with those of the AI-based models. The results show that genetic algorithm has been successfully utilized in optimizing the explicit model parameters with the best improvements being from 0.12% to 0.0026% based on maximum relative error index. Although genetic programming and gene expression programming techniques offer the advantage of producing explicit analytical formulas for determination of output parameters, they are found to be grossly inaccurate with errors up to 7% for most accurate model developed. Artificial neural network, a prominent AI-based method has been used to significantly improve friction factor predictions with a high accuracy of 0.004% equivalent to that obtainable with the non-AI based models. The most accurate models are among those developed using the non AI -based techniques with errors up to 1.04 ×10-1 0 %. There is still possibility of improving on the gains made using the artificial intelligence techniques.
Does a Hybrid Approach of Agile and Plan-Driven Methods Work Better for IT Sy...IJERA Editor
With a focus on large-scale IT system development projects in diverse enterprises, this research suggests that a hybrid approach combining agile and plan-driven management methods should fit in a wider context of specific project characteristics. Although the extant research illuminates the advantages of the hybrid approach, very few empirical studies actually suggested that the hybrid approach can improve the likelihood of project success. This research results show that the hybrid approach should be more scalable than the agile method, and that the hybrid approach can provide better cost-benefit ratios compared to the traditional plan-driven method. These quantitative and qualitative findings offer a practical recommendation for the project manager or the project management office to utilize the hybrid approach appropriately.

This can be reduced by defining certain relationship between the data values by classifying them into different clusters. This study focuses on how the combination of clustering and
regression techniques can reduce the potential problems in effectiveness of predictive efficiency due to heterogeneity of the data. Using a clustered approach creates the subsets of data having a degree of homogeneity that enhances prediction accuracy. It was also observed in this study that ridge regression performs better than other regression techniques used in the analysis.

Synergetic Approach for the Selection of a Furnace Fuel in Production of Ferr...Waqas Tariq
The problem of selection of fuel for the production of castings in most economical way and in an eco-friendly environment is of great relevance in the present time. Traditionally, such problems were addressed using conventional techniques of Multi Criteria Decision Making, such as, Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). This paper proposes a methodology for solving common problem of fuel selection by modifying conventional AHP by incorporating ‘fuzzy Linguistic variables’ in place of numbers. The methodology will create a fuzzy interface for conversion of input and output variables into suitable linguistic variables. Further, employing the fuzzification process by assigning the linguistic variables to numerical values of the membership functions and formulating suitable decision rules, the procedure culminates into the defuzzification process for converting fuzzy output into crisp value and obtaining the result in the form of fuzzy scores. The model is explained using a numerical example and also presents a validation of the proposed methodology.

Internal assessment is one of the most important factor of an industry, needs appropriate improvement
planning between the departments with development of Benchmark model among them. The proposed study
applies Fuzzy Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution to rank different alternatives.
The preliminary results indicate that the proposed model is capable of determining appropriate
competition between departments which are Human Resource, Finance, Production, Quality Assurance. To
remove the subjectivity, the linguistic data about the attributes is converted into a crisp score by using
fuzzy numbers and then the different alternatives are evaluated based on attributes by TOPSIS approach to

Plant location selection has a critical impact on the performance of manufacturing companies. The cost associated with acquiring the land and facility construction makes the location selection a long-term investment decision. The preeminent location is that which results in higher economic benefits through increased productivity and good distribution network. Both potential qualitative and quantitative criteria’s are to be considered for selecting the proper plant location from a given set of alternatives. Consequently, from the literature survey, it is found that the Multi criteria decision-making (MCDM) is found to be an effective approach to solve the location selection problems. In the present research, an integrated decision-making methodology is designed which employs the two well-known decision making techniques, namely Analytical hierarchy process (AHP), and Preference ranking organization method for enrichment evaluations (PROMETHEE-II) in order to make the best use of information available, either implicitly or explicitly. It is analyze the structure for the solution of plant location problems and to obtain weights of the selected criteria’s. PROMETHEE-II is employed to solve decision-making problems with multiple conflicting criteria and alternatives.

The methodology will create a fuzzy interface for conversion of input and output variables into suitable linguistic variables. Further, employing the fuzzification process by assigning the linguistic variables to numerical values of the membership functions and formulating suitable decision rules, the procedure culminates into the defuzzification process for converting fuzzy output into crisp value and obtaining the result in the form of fuzzy scores. The model is explained using a numerical example and also presents a validation of the proposed methodology.

The preliminary results indicate that the proposed model is capable of determining appropriate
competition between departments which are Human Resource, Finance, Production, Quality Assurance. To
remove the subjectivity, the linguistic data about the attributes is converted into a crisp score by using
fuzzy numbers and then the different alternatives are evaluated based on attributes by TOPSIS approach to

quality control, cost, delivery, quantity at which Owners or Ready Mixed Concrete (RMC) Plant
Managers have to concentrate for enhancing profit as well as maintaining standard by Analytic
Hierarchy Process (AHP) Technique which will help the decision maker to understand the problem
systematically. This research activity was entirely assessed through questionnaire survey. Various
literatures have been reviewed for assessment and evaluation of Criterias that are related to Ready
Mixed Concrete. The respondents were selected from various construction occupancy mainly Ready
Mixed Concrete Plant Managers, Consultant and contractors. Total 100 Survey Questionnaires were
distributed to Respondents in Anand, Nadiad, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, from which 60 Responses
were collected as per sample size calculation,in that 21 were from Ready Mixed Concrete (RMC)
Plant Managers, 26 were from consultants and 13 were from contractors. According to Analytic
Hierarchy Process (AHP) Technique first 10 crucial Criterias in descending order are Large
Quantity, Quality of Material, Delivery Lead Time, Sales/Utilization Area, Manager, Location,
Equipment Safety, Standard and Certification, Accidents.

Consequently, from the literature survey, it is found that the Multi criteria decision-making (MCDM) is found to be an effective approach to solve the location selection problems. In the present research, an integrated decision-making methodology is designed which employs the two well-known decision making techniques, namely Analytical hierarchy process (AHP), and Preference ranking organization method for enrichment evaluations (PROMETHEE-II) in order to make the best use of information available, either implicitly or explicitly. Formwork System (FS) selection for reinforced cement concrete (RCC) members is a crucial factor in finishing the
project successfully, as it is necessary for improved productivity and faster construction of the projects. The present study
assessed the criteria influencing the formwork system selection in the construction of residential buildings. From the literature
and past studies conducted on selecting the formwork system, a total of 24 influencing factors were identified. The formwork
suitability is analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Furthermore, using the performance indicators
used in the formwork system analysis, a total of 5 influencing factors were indicated as being the primary determinant of
formwork selection. The remaining 19 factors were omitted because they did not have a major influence. The surface finish,
capital cost, durability, labor cost, repetition, and wastage are the top 5 factors which are identified as having a significant
impact on formwork system selection. This study examines the different existing formwork technology with recently invented
FS, such as aluminum formwork and the jump formwork system, that are not often used in India, to determine which formwork
system is most effective and appropriate for the projects under consideration. To better understand this, the hypothetical
building projects employing traditional formwork were considered to compare newly developed formwork with conventional
formwork systems considering the key selection criteria analyzed. The results offer a better understanding of the influencing
factor affecting the formwork system selection in Mumbai City. They will help construction professionals improve productivity
in terms of cost saving faster construction, expanding the existing knowledge regarding formwork selection systems, and
decreasing formwork waste.

This paper provides a review of research advances and trends in the area of thin shell structures. The art of building thin-shell structures has been with us since ancient times. In practical civil engineering, the necessity of covering large column free open areas with shell surfaces is often an issue. Over the course of time, this shell form became very popular to engineers due to a number of advantages it offers, and started drawing the attention of a number of researchers. A thin shell is a term not in itself as readily understandable by the layman as the terms dome or vault would be. It is in a sense a word coined on the basis of its structural connotations, as exhibited in the artifacts it creates. There are many interesting aspects of the use of shells in engineering, but one alone stands out as being of paramount importance: it is the structural aspect. At the beginning of this century, under the influence of the art movement and the dominance of industrialized building materials, any remnants of curvilinear architecture were mercilessly banished. Within that period avant-garde art emphatically proclaimed a total repudiation of the traditions and classical revivals that in architecture were symbolized mostly by arches and vaults. Ready-to-use rectilinear steel beams and columns and easy-to build rectilinear concrete forms struck a lethal blow to the curvilinear approach in architecture. Rectilinearity became synonymous with rationality, while curvilinearity came to symbolize decadence. Remember, for instance, the negative stigma given to the baroque for its assumed pomposity in glorifying curves. In practical terms such an attitude in design is clearly manifested in the present cityscapes that are totally free of arches, domes, shells, and any other form that is not rectilinear. With today‟s almost unlimited computer technology and the knowledge that can be gained from understanding the domes and vaults built both in the past and present, it is hoped that this research work on the review aspects of curvilinear forms will contribute to further exploration and encourage the application of thin shells by the engineers and architects to whom it is addressed. Masonry domes, concrete shells, and large steel contemporary domes are presented in historical terms as case studies and in conceptual terms from the architectural and structural point of view.

structural expansion joints are required when plan dimensions are large. It is not possible to
state exact requirements relative to distances between expansion joints because of the many
variables involved, such as ambient temperatures during construction and the expected
temperature range during the life of a building. Expansion joints are periodic breaks in the
structure of the buildings. An expansion joint is a gap in the building structure provided by
an architect or engineer to allow for the movement of the building due to temperature
changes. An expansion joint is an assembly designed to safely absorb the heat-induced
expansion and contraction of various construction materials. They are commonly found
between sections of slabs, bridges, and other structures. The “assembly” can be as simple as
a caulked separation between two sections of the same materials. More recently, expansion
joints have been included in the design of, or added to existing, brick exterior walls for
similar purposes. In concrete and concrete block construction, the term applied is “control
joint,” but serves similar purposes. Throughout the year, building faces and concrete slabs
will expand and contract due to the warming and cooling of our planet through the seasons.
The structures would crack under the stress of thermal expansion and contraction if
expansion joint gaps were not built into the structures. Even today the expansion joint gaps
are often neglected during the design process, and simple caulking is used to fill these gaps
to complete a project. This simple caulking cannot handle the thermal expansion due to the
changing seasons, ultimately leaving a leak point in the structure. This expansion joint
becomes the main source of leakages in the structure which can ruin the interiors of the

Due to this lack of quantitative research, there is no good-developed framework for factors affecting HRM in the construction industry. A framework of human resource management has been developed. Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.

Present approach lacks scientific methodology and does not consider multi-criteria in decision making.
There is a need of scientific methodology for Ready Mixed Concrete selection approach.
Hence this study is planned to develop a mathematical approach to Ready Mixed Concrete selection with
the help of Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal
Solution (TOPSIS) method which will help the decision maker to understand the problem systematically.
To Study, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to
Ideal Solution (TOPSIS).
To derive the relation between various Criterias for enhancing utility of Ready Mixed Concrete.
To achieve optimization through comparative of Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Technique
for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS).
A lot needs to be done to educate and
train batching plant personnel, mixer truck
drivers and the Contractor’s men at site to
handle highly cohesive superplasticised
concrete mixes which may have a
deceptive dry look and may be a little
harder to pump.[1]
For Construction Industry such as
Transportation, the usage of MCDM
methods in road safety and transportation
to prioritized and ranked indicators and
safety index in road so with this method
engineers can rank and prioritize the
indicators and index to enhance the
quality of safety and enhance the safety
of roads.[2]
The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is
a theory of measurement through
pairwise comparisons and relies on the
judgements of experts to derive priority
scales. It is these scales that measure
intangibles in relative terms.[5]
AHP approach helps decision makers to
rank alternative suppliers based on the
decision makers’ subjective judgments
regarding the importance of the
attributes.[3]
TOPSIS method allows construction
companies to better evaluate (in terms of
time and expenditure) issues which are
not readily assessed quantitavely and
qualitatively. In this method, higher value
of any index is always better or worse
than a lower value of the same index,
depending on whether the efficiency
function increases or decreases.[4]

Model the problem as a hierarchy containing the
decision goal, the alternatives for reaching it, and
the criteria for evaluating the alternatives.
2.
Establish priorities among the elements of the
hierarchy by making a series of judgments based
on pair wise comparisons of the elements.
3.
Synthesize these judgments to yield a set of
overall priorities for the hierarchy.
4. Check the consistency of the judgments.
5.
Come to a final decision based on the results of
this process.

In AHP Technique result, top ten Criterias which affects the
Ready Mixed Concrete selection are Indirect Cost, Large
Quantity, Quality of Material, Delivery Lead Time,
Sales/Utilization Area, Manager, Location, Equipment Safety,
Standard and Certification, Accidents. Hence, Utilization of
Ready Mixed Concrete is very helpful if govern these top
Criterias
AHP technique gives first five respondents as:
(1) Respondent 34, (2) Respondent 4, (3) Respondent 3, (4)
Respondent 33, and 5) Respondent 21.
TOPSIS technique gives first five respondents as:
(1) Respondent 3, (2) Respondent 2, (3) Respondent 45, (4)
Respondent 47 and (5) Respondent 56.
Finding from this study reveals that there is a contradiction in
Respondents ranking by two techniques. AHP technique gave
first rank to Respondent 34 while TOPSIS technique gave first
rank to Respondent 3. Respondents should act on these
Criterias to Enhancing Ready Mixed Concrete Utility which
ultimately can help to more precisely selection of Quality Control,
Cost, Time, and Delivery from the Ready Mixed Concrete.
