Theme Ideas
• Dark Theme: This theme connotes danger and despair. I believe this fits in
with the dangerous aspects from within the Soap Opera multi stranded
narrative that we are trying to create with our show. Furthermore dark
themes are becoming increasingly popular within our genre, this will
attract the attention of our target audience.
• Romantic Theme: Romance is very popular in Soap Opera and can appeal
to multiple audiences. This would encourage all audiences to view the
soap opera, as everyone aspires to be in a loving relationship, which will
be represented in the poster.
• Mystery: It is a common theme used in Soap Opera to attract the
attention of the audience. It successfully draws the attention in as it
makes the audience want to find out more secrets that could be exposed
in the episode.
Tagline
• “Trapped Inside!”: This expresses how the everyone is
trapped. The girl is trapped physically , the husband and wife
are both trapped in a loveless relationship and the bad guy is
trapped in his evil ways.
• “Where is she?”: The entices the audience as they will also
want to find out where the little girl is, and it could express
where the characters mind sets are, for example the husband
could be wondering where his daughter is and where his wife
is.
• “Who is the Stalker?”: This again lures the audience in as it is
asking them the question. This will make them want to watch
the show because of the attracting narrative with the
mysterious aspect to it.
Image Ideas
• Little girl looking frightened, with the bad guys hand on her
shoulder: this highlights the overriding storyline. It really
dramatizes the danger that the girl is in.
• Girl in the foreground and the parents behind facing
opposite directions in the background but smaller as they
are lesser issue. This suggests that their is a domestic issue
and that the little girl has been caught in the middle of it, also
the parents looking opposite directions suggest that their
relationship is frayed and that the girl is the only thing holding
them together.
• Mother is holding the girl, with the husband and stranger in
the background facing each other: This suggests that the girl
is the innocent bystander. It also connotes that the mother is
the one that started the drama.
Other
• Synergy with Social Media: This will give us
opportunities to expand the marketing of our
new Soap Opera Trailer and jump on the wagon of online
streaming. An example of this is the hashtag used through
Twitter.
• Synergy with your magazine: I will be using synergy with
my magazine because it will help the consumers find out
where they can get more information about the show.
• Point of Call Information: The point of call tells the
reader when the show will be on and which channel will airing
it, and explains why the poster is an essential product
alongside the trailer.
Mind Map - Conclusion
YOU MUST conclude your Planning and Idea development by focusing on the following
areas:
• What you need to do next : Next I will need to take the desired pictures. This is to make
sure that the pictures are the right ones for my poster.
• What you’ll need to organise/arrange: I will need to organise props for when I decide to
take these images for my poster, such as borrowing Mr Crafts’ camera to ensure they are
good quality images. I will make sure to find the appropriate font style for my poster so it
is fit for purpose.
• What software you will use to create the product and Why?: So I can create a good
poster I will need to use software such as Photoshop. This will make sure that the poster
will look fit for purpose and making it will be easier due to past experience using the
software.
