Positive Adult Role Models
Positive Adult Role Models
Imagine living in a world where teens are doing drugs, pressuring their peers, and trying to be just
like the models in magazines. Unfortunately, that's the world we live in today. What do these teens
need? They need positive adult role models. It is important for a teen to be influenced by positive
adult role models while growing up; because if they don't have positive adult role models, teens can
be influenced by negative media, negative peer pressure, and teen drug use. The first reason why
teens need positive adult role models is, if teens are not influenced by a positive adult role model,
they will be influenced by media. First, media has had a large negative impact on the way teen girls
see themselves. They don't need media telling them they are ugly, or that they are not good enough,
they need role models telling them that they are beautiful no matter what they look like. The way the
internet and magazines influences girls by the sizes of actresses and models to believe that they have
to be skinny to be beautiful, but that is not it. Beauty comes from the inside, inner beauty is the only
thing that matters, and that is when the role models come in. If young girls are told that beauty is an
inside thing, they'll influence friends and future generations the same, and the epidemic on beauty
will be over. Also, while teens develop, they seek greater freedom and independence. With all the
negatives of media, teens go to that first. The

Nancy Drew : A Positive Feminist Role Model
Young girls have been reading Nancy Drew for eighty–seven years, she is a staple in most
households with elementary age girls. For me, Nancy represented everything I wanted to be at 18,
she was intelligent, fearless, beautiful, and she had a car. I never compared myself to Nancy, she was
what I aspired to be and what I expected to be when I grew up. She was one of the first feminist role
models I had as a child and I believe she was pivotal to my foundation as an independent, outspoken
woman. I see Nancy herself as a positive feminist role model, however, the series itself does not
portray women in a positive light, all the other female characters in the series besides Nancy are
problematic. One aspect about Nancy that I admired as a child was her independence, although she
was only 18 see had an extraordinary amount of freedom in my eyes. The fact that Nancy had her
own vehicle was instrumental for her ability to do what she wanted. "Why don't we drive out there
now in my car?" (The Ghost of Blackwood Hall, 7) Nancy was able to decide on the spot to leave
and go seek out clues. As a child, you do not have the opportunity and authority to go anywhere you
want; those decisions lie with your parents. Nancy does not need to rely on someone else to drive
her around nor does she require anyone's permission to leave, she decides for herself. "I'll pick up
my friends and drive out now to see if the crossed twigs are still there" (41). Even now, getting a car
is a huge step

Jackie Kennedy: A Positive Role Model
"She brought style and grace to her duties as first lady and provided a striking visual image that
reflected the promise of her husband's administration" Jacqueline Kennedy: The white house years:
Selections from the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum vi). Most first ladies so far were just
known as the president's wife, but Jackie Kennedy made a name for herself doing the things she
loved. Jacqueline Kennedy, was Born on July 28, 1929 in Southampton, New York, to parents John
Vernou Bouvier III and Janet Norton Lee. Kennedy went to a privileged school, won many awards
at horse riding shows, became fluent in French and became a notable writer. She met her first

The time her husband was in office was known as the Camelot period. The Camelot period was a
way of life for people to get married, settle down and have kids, it was a blissful time in America
and Jackie Kennedy had this life and was looked up to. She was the unofficial role model for these
American families (Camelot). Women were overly taken by her clothing choices at the time. During
the presidency she showed sophistication, poise and a symbol of youth. She would be seen in
exquisite gowns from Britain or capri pants and a simple top. It was said that "On duty as First Lady,
Mrs. Kennedy's impact was profound–a visual metaphor for the President's youthful, internationally
minded administration, and a symbol of a new era of cultural sophistication at the White House"
(Style Legend: Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis's Looks From White House Years and Beyond 1). This
quote shows how much an impact fashion can have, it being more than just clothes. Jackie Kennedy
was an inspiration and style icon for many people, and even now people still replicate her fashion

Saint Maximilian As A Positive Role Model
A good leader stands up for someone else even if it means their life. Saint Maximilian Kolbe or
prisoner 16770 in Auschwitz did just that. Maximilian died to save Franciszek Gajowniczek, a man
with a wife and children. Maximilian was beaten, starved, and eventually torchered to dead. All for
the sake of helping others live, that's why I think Maximilian is a good leader.
Leadership to me means being a good role model or someone you would want to follow. Some traits
I believe a leader should have are be kind, selfless, caring, compassionate, and most of all you have
to be confident. If your not confident no one will know if you have what it takes to be a leader.
Maximilian was a great leader because he helped people in their faith even when his friar was closed
down. He was kind by giving other people his food in Auschwitz even though he was starving like
the rest of them. He was caring, selfless, and compassionate when he took the place of a man who
was to die. Maximilian took his place because he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parado did so many things to keep everyone else alive, he went on expeditions, shared food, and led
prayers. Parado went on the final expedition to find help, he knew that he could not return to the
plane because this was their last chance to find someone to help them. Parado knew that he was
most likely going to die from starvation on this journey, but he went anyway to try and help others
survive. Parado has leadership qualities because he's confident and selfless. When their future
looked bleak Parado told everyone that they were going to be saved. Parado was selfless because he
was willing to risk his life on the expeditions to save others. Maximilian saved Franciszek like
Parado saved those 16 people on the mountain. Franciszek lived through the holocaust and went

excelled her academic expectancies and was able to skip second grade. In 1975 she was selected to
join a gifted student program for 6th grade. Eventually, due to her academic excellence, she was
offered the possibility to attend the first magnet school in Chicago. This magnet school focused on a
deeper educational curriculum and eventually prepared the students in advance classes for higher
education levels (Firstladies.org, 2009). From 1981 to 1985 she attended Princeton University,

A Positive Role Model
I have had many positive role models in my life including parents, coaches, and teachers. Yet, as I
grow older I notice myself modeling my behavior more and more after my grandfather. I owe my
intense competitive drive to genetics and exposure to an encouraging environment. Part of this
environment was witnessing first hand what my grandpa was able to accomplish from a young age.
My grandfather, Charles William Taylor, grew up in a single–parent household in a small, northern
Minnesota farm town. Having personally visited Crookston, the desire to move out of this isolated
area would be reason enough to become as successful as possible, and head to Boston. He was the
buzz of the town... a star athlete, high–jump state champion, and the football and basketball captain
at his high school. Bill Taylor would be the first (and only) person from Crookston to attend Harvard
College.

Grandpa appreciated my sense of ambition and was even a bit flattered by the fact that I idolize him.
But, he gave me a piece of advice that changed my mindset entirely. He advised me to use this time
to be my own person, do what I love, and be who I want to be. That is exactly what my grandpa did,
taking initiative to be a three sport athlete at Harvard. He also said to enjoy the fact that I get to
surround myself with intelligent new friends from all over the globe. Coming from a small town,
Grandpa was exposed to more diversity than he had ever been. He still keeps in contact with his
college friends such as David Rockefeller and his football friends after all these years. Lastly, he
advised me to develop the skills to be able to compete with my peers in order to better each other.

Positive Principal Roles
Everyone is responsible for developing positive relationships with parent and the community. This
would include the administrators, certified teachers, teaching aides, secretaries, custodians,
maintenance, and bus drivers. As in the video the principal talked about how it is important to make
sure that all the staff felt like they were part of the team and was aware of what was happening in the
school. The community sees any employee of the school district to be a trusted individual that
should be able to explain and talk about what the school is doing. It is important for an administrator
to have an open relationship with all staff where they feel like they can have input on decisions
about school issues. No matter what their job title is they should feel like they are an integral part of
the team. This in turn will allow all school employees to feel comfortable developing that positive
relationships with the parents and community. The principal's role in developing positive
community relations sets the tone for communication patterns, partnership formation and/or
alienation (Fiore, 2013). There are many tasks that the principal has that is important to school and
community relations. Some of those are being a good listener, diplomatic and tactful and all
situations. They also have to promote the open door policy to be free to communicate with students,
parents, and their staff. They also have to inform the superintendent and community about good and

Positive Male Role Model
The Impact Of Positive Male Role Models – A Comprehensive Analysis Role models are essential
for the development of an individual; particularly for young males. One of the leading sources of
inspiration and innovation for an individual is typically their father. For this reason, the role of the
father is considered one of the most important ones there is for an individual. There are many
benefits for an individual to have a father figure including having someone to look up to and teach
them about various aspects of life. Furthermore, scholarly research has shown that having a father
figure is critical for individuals because of the impact it has on the ability of an individual to develop
their success in their various endeavors (Ho, 2014). Researchers also note that not having positive
male role models can have substantial consequences for an individual as well including delinquency
and depression (Markowitz, 2016). There are many areas where having a positive male role model
can make a critical difference in the ¬¬life of an individual; especially in their ability to succeed.
For these reasons, having a positive male role model is considered one of the most important types
of relationship for an individual to have throughout their years of development. This writing
examines the importance of this relationship as well as the various impacts it may have on the
development and success of an individual. The paternal relationship is different than the maternal

The Key Characteristics Of Positive Role Models In Life
Throughout life, many people will influence others in a certain way. What people notice is that the
positive role models will have something that puts them ahead of everyone else. Role models show
how people should be treated and how they should value themselves first, and then their success will
come. Positive role models can be found all over the place; sometimes they are just hard to find.
Key characteristics that put these people above everyone else are honesty, hard–work and
dedication, and not having a fear of failure. When looking for positive role models in life, one of the
biggest things that they have is their ability to be upfront and honest about what they are doing. A
fact that most people know is not to trust or look up to a liar. One of the reasons why is that they
never know if they are telling you the truth or not. People do not want to be lied to about how they
are doing. They want to be told the truth by people, so they can correct what they are doing wrong
and be even better because of it. Honesty is an important aspect of life for most people. Most people
that have support from others have a sort of trust with each other. Trust and honesty are the
foundation of friendships and relationships all throughout life. The fact is that positive people, no
matter where they go bring positivity. Whether it is at home or at the workplace, everyone wants to
be around them because of their positivity. Honest people are the best kind of people to be

Positive Role Models Are Those Who Possess The Qualities...
Positive role models are those who possess the qualities that I would love to have and even improve
on. They are those who have affected me in ways that make me want to be a better person in ways
such as volunteering in the community. They help me to advocate for myself when I am falling
short, help me on my steps to taking a leadership position, and even speak out on the issues that I
feel strongly about. I often don't tend to recognize positive role models until I have noticed my own
personal growth. Knowing that it really implies that it takes a positive role model to know one.
Some positive role models are teachers, clergy members, counselors and even friends.
Throughout my life, I have had many teachers as positive role models. Some teachers teach right to
the tests while others show real world examples and even visit the places that we are learning about
and that is what stands out to me. Aubrey, my core teacher in Israel, really exemplifies this and is
very committed and an amazing role model that really stands out. Aubrey taught the core curriculum
I was a part of while studying in Israel. It is an intense study of Israel and 4,000 years of Jewish
history. It comprises of many things such as engaging classroom study and even life–changing trips
to the sites where history took place. My classmates and I used Israel as a living classroom to
explore my heritage and would go back in a heartbeat. What really stood out was that my teacher

The Only Positive Adult Role Model
Teachers play a vital role in the lives of their students, not just as educators, but in many cases as the
only positive adult role model in a child's life. Countless students have a greater experience in
school than they do at home and teachers play an enormous role in that. Teachers are not only
educators, but encouragers of students reaching their fullest potential. Students coming from broken
homes may not have an adult in their life telling them that they can achieve greatness; which is
where a teacher can play an extremely important role. When Rita Pierson told her class that they
could be their best they were in disbelief; they needed her encouragement to realize the greatness
they could achieve. Most kids have a hard time realizing

Nine hours a day. Nine hours on average staring at a screen(CNN). Nine hours soaking up all the

with the fact that the mass media and television continues to shape our world, culture, and especially
my generation of high schoolers, who are moving into the real world. For teens right now, the
celebrity population truly does dictate how we live and our opinions. So shouldn't the celebrities we
expose ourselves to be positive role models? Sadly, this isn't the case right most of the time. But,
Ellen DeGeneres is an exception. She is a philanthropist, a talented comedian, and a role model to
people of all ages. This is why we should use the money given to the school to invite Ellen
DeGeneres to speak to our students and staff. Firstly, Ellen has a positive message and a belief that
everyone should be helped. She has always shown support to charities like Artists Against Racism,
Feeding America, Love Our Children USA, and countless others. If you have ever watched her

I would like to start with my statement in the front of my handbook.
"I aim to provide a relaxed, safe environment to care for your child and facilitate learning
opportunities through play and by being a positive role model."
Being a positive role model for me in my setting is about how I act, learning opportunities/resources
provided, promoting safety and well being which is reflected in my policies and procedure alongside
risk assessments and how I respond to their behaviour, play, ideas and achievements.
As a child minder my role is very diverse. Using the NCMA quality standards as guidance I have

such as being part of the first class inducted into the baseball hall of fame. Shortly after the end of
his career, he fell ill with throat cancer likely caused by his lifelong habit of chewing tobacco. Babe
did not let this stop him though. He still visited orphanages, hospitals, and other charity events even
on his worst days. Biography.com reproted, "Known throughout his life as a generous man, he gave
much of his time in his last years to charitable events instead. On June 13, 1948, he made one last

had become a shadow of his former, gregarious self". Knowing that his time was running out, Ruth
still pushed through being a source of excitement for young children in their times of struggle. He
gave the majority of his major league earnings to orphanages, charitable foundations, and even
started his own foundations to help orphans. These were some of his last actions because Babe's
biography states, "On August 16, 1948, Babe Ruth died, leaving much of his estate to the Babe Ruth

The Odyssey : Positive And Negative Roles
Throughout the Odyssey women play a substantial role in the epic poem; in the story women play
both positive and negative roles, sometimes a little of both, some the women in the book also play a
role of seductresses. Since the epic poem is mainly about Odysseus's ten year journey home to
Ithaca and his wife and the obstacles he encounters and has to overcome on the way many of those
involving women, women that are positive in the Odyssey are Penelope, Athena, Nausicaa and
Helen who help Odysseus during his journey, and Telemachus in finding Odysseus; some of the
women who are negative in the Odyssey are the Sirens, Melantho and Clytemnestra, then some that
are both positive and negative are Kalypso and Circe, the seductresses throughout the Odyssey are
Circe and the Sirens . Whether women play a seductive, positive or a negative role or both in the
Odyssey, they contribute to the plot considerably. The women who portrayed a positive role
throughout the Odyssey are Penelope, Athena, Nausicaa and Helen . Penelope played a positive role
throughout, by playing a con on the suitors which was "let me finish my weaving before I marry, or
else my thread will have been spun in vain" (288). The con is that she appears to the suitors who are
trying to marry her that she's giving up hope that her husband Odysseus will ever come back by

Henrietta Lacks: A Positive Role Model
In modern time we think of female role models such as Michelle Obama (First Lady USA),
Christiane Amanpour (journalist), Malala Yousafzai (Activists for women's rights in Pakistan);
Beyoncé (singer/movie star). But often great woman get overlook and or forgotten as time passes

live on forever. Henrietta Lack "when giving birth to her 5th child was diagnosed with cervical

The Positive Role Of Penelope In The Odyssey
Ohio State University citizens can use Penelope from The Odyssey as a positive role model to take
after. She exemplifies to Ohio State University citizens the significance of being intelligent as well
as hesitant, yet trusting.
It is important as a citizen to be hesitant, but willing to trust. We specifically see Penelope reluctant
to trust when Odysseus returns home and admits that it has been him as the beggar all along. This is

Positive Role Model Analysis
I believe educators are the window through which many young people will see their future. Being a
positive role model to young children is such a terrific feeling. Many children don't have anyone to
look up to especially special needs students. From my own life experience being in the classroom
working with special needs students. It often pains me as I watched some teachers call themselves
educators and they treat these students poorly. Lots of young people don't have anyone to look up to
in this role. That's why as educators we could be the only positive influence they see at school. This
article was very informative in fact it made me cry. I love how the former music teacher that Mr.
Armstrong mentions in the article told him about a 1st grade student with Asperger's syndrome. It's

The second strike is that most students have to spend time in their classrooms dealing with things
they're bad at. By changing the situation around them so in the beginning the student's special needs
can be told about all the things they're good at this will be very beneficial to them. This will help
engaged the students in activities that are based on their strengths not their weaknesses. Mr.
Armstrong gives some great pointers on how to activate the strengths of students with special needs.
Some of the ways Mr. Armstrong said you can activate the strengths of students with special needs
students are to; discover your students' strengths are by talking with previous teachers and looking at
cumulative files. By providing the students positive role models with disabilities. Students with

Positive Role Models
People see them everywhere; on the television, on magazines, and on the internet; celebrities. Since
they are in the media so much, they are constantly influencing society, especially younger
audiences. These celebrities are not positive role models for today's youth. They are not positive role
models because they make people believe dangerous, and untrue information regarding health,
appearance is more important than everything else, and that more money means more respect.
Everyday people are paying attention to celebrity's advice, since they seem to be very successful.
They want to listen to their advice to make their own lives prosperous. However, some of this advice
can be more harmful than beneficial. For example, many celebrities share medical advice that can be
damaging. Liz Szabo writes, "Many doctors say they're troubled by stars who cross the line from
sharing their stories to championing questionable or even dangerous medical advice" (Szabo).
Celebrities are sharing medical advice that is doing more harm than good. On the contrary, some
people will argue that they share more beneficial advice. Diana Gorgos states, "These spokespersons
can also prompt people to get screened for cancer, concludes a new study. It found that a televised
colon cancer awareness campaign by Katie Couric was temporally associated with an increase in
colonoscopy use" (Gorgos). Although some celebrities share good medical advice, many share
harmful information. Szabo further writes, "when

Positive Role In Social Work
Social work is a practice based profession and academic discipline focusing on the principles of
social justice, human rights and equality and diversity (International Federation of Social Workers
(IFSW), 2014). Furthermore, social work is a complex discipline which is underpinned by theories
grounded in social science, humanities and indigenous knowledge (IFSW, 2014). Social work has
been embedded into society as a fundamental aspect of planning person centred care for vulnerable
groups (Dowling et al, 2006). There are many schools of thought which attempt to define what
constitutes a vulnerable group within society. Richardson et al (2015) states that vulnerability arises
within those individuals who need support to address the challenges that affect their quality of life.
Poverty, extremes of age, disability, mental or physical health status and ethnicity all have the
potential to contribute to vulnerability and social exclusion of the group or individual (Joseph
Rowntree Foundation, 2017). In particular, the elderly and youths leaving care are recognised as
having multiple needs and face adversity integrating wholly into society. It is the role of the social
worker to assess, plan, intervene, implement and evaluate the care for these groups and individuals
(Horner, 2009)).
Social workers play a vital role within society in supporting such people regardless of their
background. They are not only there to protect people from abuse but to also help enable individuals

Finding Nemo As A Positive Role Model
Have you ever thought about watching a movie and learning a lesson from it? Finding Nemo is a
good movie because they make it look real, we can see fish, jellyfish, and sharks talking together
and swimming in the ocean. Children who watch this film, they can learn that when their parents

right and he is making the best judgement about everything, without knowing his not always right.
We have another fish name Dora who has a memory loss, that forgets everything in ten seconds and
he goes to the sea with dangerous creatures in the water with Nemo's father trying to find Nemo.

According to Minow, "I remember watching this movie when I was little, I always liked it and I still
do. It's a great and fun movie with some positive role models: Marlin is a loving father who cares
deeply for his son Nemo, and will not rest until he finds Nemo when he is taken away by divers.
Dory is a good friend and helps when she can" (Minow). When Nemo got caught the diver
accidently knocks his diving mask, and inside the diving mask theirs an address the place the diver
is taking Nemo. Dory and Marlin started fighting with each other in a wrong time and Marlin gives
Dory a noise bleed from the fighting, since sharks love blood it made sharks get closer and closer to
Dory. Marlin got an idea to escape the sharks with Dory, when they escaping Marlin dropped the
mask and they lost it in the bottom of the ocean. If Nemo have been listing to his father, they both

What Is The Positive Role In Nurses?
Regardless of their area of work, nurses have the potential to be exposed to the intimate partner
violence (IPV) continuum. Often noticed as the front line workers, nurses are in a position to
observe and assess situations where IPV is suspected, and intervene should these issues arise.
Nurses are obligated to provide safe, holistic, quality care to victims of IPV and implement
resources such as counseling, community support as well as physical and emotional support; "nurses
work with persons who have health–care needs or are receiving care to enable them to attain their
highest possible level of health and well–being" (CNA, 2017). Nurses have the ability to be a

2017). It's recognized that "general nursing curricula programs not only lack significant information
about all types of violence but is also deficient in responsive evidence–based content and practices,
particularly such content and practices related to IPV" (Connor, P. D., Nouer, S. S., Speck, P. M.,
Mackey, S. N., & Tipton, N. G., 2013). Evidence shows the difference in readiness between nursing
students who have had IPV training in comparison to those who have not; thus, they were more
prepared to address and assess victims of IPV. Accurate assessment of an individual's mien, and
signs and symptoms of potential IPV is essential to mitigating the risk factors of IPV as well as the
prevention of ongoing abuse. Vital to that role is proper understanding and use of health promotion.
It's evident that careful assessment is the foundation to which primary, secondary, and tertiary
interventions can be determined. Primary prevention is the cornerstone to decreasing the worldwide
effects of IPV; its overall goal is to reduce the incidences of IPV. We as HCP train ourselves to think
'upstream' rather than 'downstream', primary prevention is the basis of an upstream approach;
preventing the violence before it happens. It is arguably the most essential aspect of prevention that
has been relatively neglected within health care (WHO, 2010). Methods of primary

Title
Imagine living in a world without role models. Creation would be an immense chaotic mess with the
population acting like heathens. Similar to a flower that does not receive enough nourishments
gradually perishing, without positive role models feeding our youth, creation would inhabit
senselessness and eventually terminate. Today, in the society we live in, people are more concerned
on the public status, or simply the exterior appearance, of a person rather than the example they are
setting. Leading to the question, what is a positive role model? Well, this can be very complex in
explaining, everyone's ideal role model can vary from one and another. One of the most generic

One value that would be worthy to follow, is someone to does not participate in drug misuse,

A positive role model could be defined as a celebrity, as a responsible person who puts others needs

defined as an individual who battles through hardships in their life while keeping an optimistic

10. What changes have you seen/do you think you will see regarding the role of men/women in
society during your lifetime? I think that in my lifetime, for better or for worse, men and women
will become much less defined from each other, and less expected to fit gender roles. I see how this
can benefit, but I worry that the consequences will be much worse. History shows that an ill–defined
society tends to fall apart, and I worry that once we cross a certain threshold as a society, that we too
will fall apart.
11. What advice would you give (other gender) to help in the relationships? For men, I would
suggest to try and be more genuinely empathetic of how women are feeling and thinking. It is
important to actually try to understand what your female counterpart is saying, and take that with
genuine attention, concern, and thought.

Becoming A Positive Role Model
However, when I was younger, my temperament allowed me to be more open and understanding of
those around me. I attended Bulloch county public school system and as I became a teenager in
middle school and high school. I learned a lot about myself as well others. My adolescence years in
high school and middle school is what made me who I am today. Langston Chapel Middle school
and Statesboro High school were diverse schools. Students were surrounded by different ethnic
groups and learned how to mesh well with each other. I learned tolerance and acceptance of other
groups but I also noticed others whom displayed behaviors that was not in the same beliefs as my
own.
Being an enthusized young girl engulfed in her culture, I joined the African American club(AAC). I
began researching how to become a positive role model in my community and volunteering
wherever I could if it involved the advancement of my people. I became what we now call the
younger revoluntist and became comfortable in my own skin. I became compassionate for my race
as well as other minorities that face the same daunting issues in society. I decided I wanted to be in a
field that will allow me to help others reach their ultimate potential and life and genuinely give back
to my community in any way I can. I've learned those who displayed racism/discrimination learned

Positive Adult Role Models

  • 1. Positive Adult Role Models Positive Adult Role Models Imagine living in a world where teens are doing drugs, pressuring their peers, and trying to be just like the models in magazines. Unfortunately, that's the world we live in today. What do these teens need? They need positive adult role models. It is important for a teen to be influenced by positive adult role models while growing up; because if they don't have positive adult role models, teens can be influenced by negative media, negative peer pressure, and teen drug use. The first reason why teens need positive adult role models is, if teens are not influenced by a positive adult role model, they will be influenced by media. First, media has had a large negative impact on the way teen girls see themselves. They don't need media telling them they are ugly, or that they are not good enough, they need role models telling them that they are beautiful no matter what they look like. The way the internet and magazines influences girls by the sizes of actresses and models to believe that they have to be skinny to be beautiful, but that is not it. Beauty comes from the inside, inner beauty is the only thing that matters, and that is when the role models come in. If young girls are told that beauty is an inside thing, they'll influence friends and future generations the same, and the epidemic on beauty will be over. Also, while teens develop, they seek greater freedom and independence. With all the negatives of media, teens go to that first. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Nancy Drew : A Positive Feminist Role Model Young girls have been reading Nancy Drew for eighty–seven years, she is a staple in most households with elementary age girls. For me, Nancy represented everything I wanted to be at 18, she was intelligent, fearless, beautiful, and she had a car. I never compared myself to Nancy, she was what I aspired to be and what I expected to be when I grew up. She was one of the first feminist role models I had as a child and I believe she was pivotal to my foundation as an independent, outspoken woman. I see Nancy herself as a positive feminist role model, however, the series itself does not portray women in a positive light, all the other female characters in the series besides Nancy are problematic. One aspect about Nancy that I admired as a child was her independence, although she was only 18 see had an extraordinary amount of freedom in my eyes. The fact that Nancy had her own vehicle was instrumental for her ability to do what she wanted. "Why don't we drive out there now in my car?" (The Ghost of Blackwood Hall, 7) Nancy was able to decide on the spot to leave and go seek out clues. As a child, you do not have the opportunity and authority to go anywhere you want; those decisions lie with your parents. Nancy does not need to rely on someone else to drive her around nor does she require anyone's permission to leave, she decides for herself. "I'll pick up my friends and drive out now to see if the crossed twigs are still there" (41). Even now, getting a car is a huge step ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Jackie Kennedy: A Positive Role Model "She brought style and grace to her duties as first lady and provided a striking visual image that reflected the promise of her husband's administration" Jacqueline Kennedy: The white house years: Selections from the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum vi). Most first ladies so far were just known as the president's wife, but Jackie Kennedy made a name for herself doing the things she loved. Jacqueline Kennedy, was Born on July 28, 1929 in Southampton, New York, to parents John Vernou Bouvier III and Janet Norton Lee. Kennedy went to a privileged school, won many awards at horse riding shows, became fluent in French and became a notable writer. She met her first husband, John F. Kennedy at a dinner, and they were married on September 12, 1953. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The time her husband was in office was known as the Camelot period. The Camelot period was a way of life for people to get married, settle down and have kids, it was a blissful time in America and Jackie Kennedy had this life and was looked up to. She was the unofficial role model for these American families (Camelot). Women were overly taken by her clothing choices at the time. During the presidency she showed sophistication, poise and a symbol of youth. She would be seen in exquisite gowns from Britain or capri pants and a simple top. It was said that "On duty as First Lady, Mrs. Kennedy's impact was profound–a visual metaphor for the President's youthful, internationally minded administration, and a symbol of a new era of cultural sophistication at the White House" (Style Legend: Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis's Looks From White House Years and Beyond 1). This quote shows how much an impact fashion can have, it being more than just clothes. Jackie Kennedy was an inspiration and style icon for many people, and even now people still replicate her fashion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Saint Maximilian As A Positive Role Model A good leader stands up for someone else even if it means their life. Saint Maximilian Kolbe or prisoner 16770 in Auschwitz did just that. Maximilian died to save Franciszek Gajowniczek, a man with a wife and children. Maximilian was beaten, starved, and eventually torchered to dead. All for the sake of helping others live, that's why I think Maximilian is a good leader. Leadership to me means being a good role model or someone you would want to follow. Some traits I believe a leader should have are be kind, selfless, caring, compassionate, and most of all you have to be confident. If your not confident no one will know if you have what it takes to be a leader. Maximilian was a great leader because he helped people in their faith even when his friar was closed down. He was kind by giving other people his food in Auschwitz even though he was starving like the rest of them. He was caring, selfless, and compassionate when he took the place of a man who was to die. Maximilian took his place because he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Parado did so many things to keep everyone else alive, he went on expeditions, shared food, and led prayers. Parado went on the final expedition to find help, he knew that he could not return to the plane because this was their last chance to find someone to help them. Parado knew that he was most likely going to die from starvation on this journey, but he went anyway to try and help others survive. Parado has leadership qualities because he's confident and selfless. When their future looked bleak Parado told everyone that they were going to be saved. Parado was selfless because he was willing to risk his life on the expeditions to save others. Maximilian saved Franciszek like Parado saved those 16 people on the mountain. Her initial years of education were no different than any other kid. However, Michelle Obama excelled her academic expectancies and was able to skip second grade. In 1975 she was selected to join a gifted student program for 6th grade. Eventually, due to her academic excellence, she was offered the possibility to attend the first magnet school in Chicago. This magnet school focused on a deeper educational curriculum and eventually prepared the students in advance classes for higher education levels (Firstladies.org, 2009). • 11. A Positive Role Model I have had many positive role models in my life including parents, coaches, and teachers. Yet, as I grow older I notice myself modeling my behavior more and more after my grandfather. I owe my intense competitive drive to genetics and exposure to an encouraging environment. Part of this environment was witnessing first hand what my grandpa was able to accomplish from a young age. My grandfather, Charles William Taylor, grew up in a single–parent household in a small, northern Minnesota farm town. Having personally visited Crookston, the desire to move out of this isolated area would be reason enough to become as successful as possible, and head to Boston. He was the buzz of the town... a star athlete, high–jump state champion, and the football and basketball captain at his high school. Bill Taylor would be the first (and only) person from Crookston to attend Harvard College. While at Harvard, Grandpa Bill led the football team to their first ever Ivy ... But, he gave me a piece of advice that changed my mindset entirely. He advised me to use this time to be my own person, do what I love, and be who I want to be. That is exactly what my grandpa did, taking initiative to be a three sport athlete at Harvard. He also said to enjoy the fact that I get to surround myself with intelligent new friends from all over the globe. Coming from a small town, Grandpa was exposed to more diversity than he had ever been. He still keeps in contact with his college friends such as David Rockefeller and his football friends after all these years. Lastly, he advised me to develop the skills to be able to compete with my peers in order to better each other. To do this she has spoken to people to write 104 articles on her and what she's doing, she's a part of 18 charities, and has made 5 videos to speak up. Even though Demi Lovato is a pop star, she is making a big impact for the kids in America and is a great role model for young people to inspire them to stand up for what they believe in. • 15. Positive Principal Roles Everyone is responsible for developing positive relationships with parent and the community. This would include the administrators, certified teachers, teaching aides, secretaries, custodians, maintenance, and bus drivers. As in the video the principal talked about how it is important to make sure that all the staff felt like they were part of the team and was aware of what was happening in the school. The community sees any employee of the school district to be a trusted individual that should be able to explain and talk about what the school is doing. It is important for an administrator to have an open relationship with all staff where they feel like they can have input on decisions about school issues. No matter what their job title is they should feel like they are an integral part of the team. This in turn will allow all school employees to feel comfortable developing that positive relationships with the parents and community. The principal's role in developing positive community relations sets the tone for communication patterns, partnership formation and/or alienation (Fiore, 2013). There are many tasks that the principal has that is important to school and community relations. Some of those are being a good listener, diplomatic and tactful and all situations. They also have to promote the open door policy to be free to communicate with students, parents, and their staff. • 19. The Key Characteristics Of Positive Role Models In Life Throughout life, many people will influence others in a certain way. What people notice is that the positive role models will have something that puts them ahead of everyone else. Role models show how people should be treated and how they should value themselves first, and then their success will come. Positive role models can be found all over the place; sometimes they are just hard to find. Key characteristics that put these people above everyone else are honesty, hard–work and dedication, and not having a fear of failure. When looking for positive role models in life, one of the biggest things that they have is their ability to be upfront and honest about what they are doing. A fact that most people know is not to trust or look up to a liar. One of the reasons why is that they never know if they are telling you the truth or not. People do not want to be lied to about how they are doing. They want to be told the truth by people, so they can correct what they are doing wrong and be even better because of it. Honesty is an important aspect of life for most people. Most people that have support from others have a sort of trust with each other. Trust and honesty are the foundation of friendships and relationships all throughout life. The fact is that positive people, no matter where they go bring positivity. Whether it is at home or at the workplace, everyone wants to be around them because of their positivity. Honest people are the best kind of people to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Positive Role Models Are Those Who Possess The Qualities... Positive role models are those who possess the qualities that I would love to have and even improve on. They are those who have affected me in ways that make me want to be a better person in ways such as volunteering in the community. They help me to advocate for myself when I am falling short, help me on my steps to taking a leadership position, and even speak out on the issues that I feel strongly about. I often don't tend to recognize positive role models until I have noticed my own personal growth. Knowing that it really implies that it takes a positive role model to know one. Some positive role models are teachers, clergy members, counselors and even friends. Throughout my life, I have had many teachers as positive role models. Some teachers teach right to the tests while others show real world examples and even visit the places that we are learning about and that is what stands out to me. Aubrey, my core teacher in Israel, really exemplifies this and is very committed and an amazing role model that really stands out. Aubrey taught the core curriculum I was a part of while studying in Israel. It is an intense study of Israel and 4,000 years of Jewish history. It comprises of many things such as engaging classroom study and even life–changing trips to the sites where history took place. My classmates and I used Israel as a living classroom to explore my heritage and would go back in a heartbeat. What really stood out was that my teacher would sing, dance, skip, cheer ... • 23. The Only Positive Adult Role Model Teachers play a vital role in the lives of their students, not just as educators, but in many cases as the only positive adult role model in a child's life. Countless students have a greater experience in school than they do at home and teachers play an enormous role in that. Teachers are not only educators, but encouragers of students reaching their fullest potential. Students coming from broken homes may not have an adult in their life telling them that they can achieve greatness; which is where a teacher can play an extremely important role. When Rita Pierson told her class that they could be their best they were in disbelief; they needed her encouragement to realize the greatness they could achieve. • 25. Ellen Degeneeneres Positive Role Models Nine hours a day. Nine hours on average staring at a screen(CNN). Nine hours soaking up all the advertisements, opinions, conflicts from the media into our developing brains. Few people disagree with the fact that the mass media and television continues to shape our world, culture, and especially my generation of high schoolers, who are moving into the real world. For teens right now, the celebrity population truly does dictate how we live and our opinions. So shouldn't the celebrities we expose ourselves to be positive role models? Sadly, this isn't the case right most of the time. But, Ellen DeGeneres is an exception. She is a philanthropist, a talented comedian, and a role model to people of all ages. This is why we should use the money given to the school to invite Ellen DeGeneres to speak to our students and staff. Firstly, Ellen has a positive message and a belief that everyone should be helped. She has always shown support to charities like Artists Against Racism, Feeding America, Love Our Children USA, and countless others. If you have ever watched her show, you would be familiar with how she often surprises guests with a very sizable check or anything they might need if they are struggling(a car, food, even a roof over their head). Her constant charity has even led to her earning the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which is a huge accomplishment! He was one of eight children but only he and his younger sister survived through infancy. He was a very troubled child and was unruly and disruptive. His mother and father were tavern owners and were always very busy with the business and that left Ruth without a constant father figure or role model. Shortly after the end of his career, he fell ill with throat cancer likely caused by his lifelong habit of chewing tobacco. Babe did not let this stop him though. He still visited orphanages, hospitals, and other charity events even on his worst days. On June 13, 1948, he made one last appearance at Yankee Stadium to celebrate the building's 25th anniversary. Sick with cancer, Ruth had become a shadow of his former, gregarious self". Knowing that his time was running out, Ruth still pushed through being a source of excitement for young children in their times of struggle. He gave the majority of his major league earnings to orphanages, charitable foundations, and even started his own foundations to help orphans. These were some of his last actions because Babe's biography states, "On August 16, 1948, Babe Ruth died, leaving much of his estate to the Babe Ruth Foundation for underprivileged children". ... Since they are in the media so much, they are constantly influencing society, especially younger audiences. These celebrities are not positive role models for today's youth. They are not positive role models because they make people believe dangerous, and untrue information regarding health, appearance is more important than everything else, and that more money means more respect. Everyday people are paying attention to celebrity's advice, since they seem to be very successful. They want to listen to their advice to make their own lives prosperous. However, some of this advice can be more harmful than beneficial. For example, many celebrities share medical advice that can be damaging. Liz Szabo writes, "Many doctors say they're troubled by stars who cross the line from sharing their stories to championing questionable or even dangerous medical advice" (Szabo). Celebrities are sharing medical advice that is doing more harm than good. On the contrary, some people will argue that they share more beneficial advice. • 48. Positive Role In Social Work Social work is a practice based profession and academic discipline focusing on the principles of social justice, human rights and equality and diversity (International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), 2014). Furthermore, social work is a complex discipline which is underpinned by theories grounded in social science, humanities and indigenous knowledge (IFSW, 2014). Social work has been embedded into society as a fundamental aspect of planning person centred care for vulnerable groups (Dowling et al, 2006). There are many schools of thought which attempt to define what constitutes a vulnerable group within society. Richardson et al (2015) states that vulnerability arises within those individuals who need support to address the challenges that affect their quality of life. Poverty, extremes of age, disability, mental or physical health status and ethnicity all have the potential to contribute to vulnerability and social exclusion of the group or individual (Joseph Rowntree Foundation, 2017). In particular, the elderly and youths leaving care are recognised as having multiple needs and face adversity integrating wholly into society. It is the role of the social worker to assess, plan, intervene, implement and evaluate the care for these groups and individuals (Horner, 2009)). Social workers play a vital role within society in supporting such people regardless of their background. Often noticed as the front line workers, nurses are in a position to observe and assess situations where IPV is suspected, and intervene should these issues arise. Nurses are obligated to provide safe, holistic, quality care to victims of IPV and implement resources such as counseling, community support as well as physical and emotional support; "nurses work with persons who have health–care needs or are receiving care to enable them to attain their highest possible level of health and well–being" (CNA, 2017). It's recognized that "general nursing curricula programs not only lack significant information about all types of violence but is also deficient in responsive evidence–based content and practices, particularly such content and practices related to IPV" (Connor, P. D., Nouer, S. S., Speck, P. M., Mackey, S. N., & Tipton, N. G., 2013). Evidence shows the difference in readiness between nursing students who have had IPV training in comparison to those who have not; thus, they were more prepared to address and assess victims of IPV. Accurate assessment of an individual's mien, and signs and symptoms of potential IPV is essential to mitigating the risk factors of IPV as well as the prevention of ongoing abuse. Vital to that role is proper understanding and use of health promotion. It's evident that careful assessment is the foundation to which primary, secondary, and tertiary interventions can be determined. Primary prevention is the cornerstone to decreasing the worldwide effects of IPV; its overall goal is to reduce the incidences of IPV. We as HCP train ourselves to think 'upstream' rather than 'downstream', primary prevention is the basis of an upstream approach; preventing the violence before it happens. Mother Theresa is a good example of a woman who was strong in faith, and who was take–charge, but still humble and selfless. 4. What 2 men (living or dead) do you see as positive role models for men? I most enjoy the freedom of style that men experience, which requires much less time and burden than typical female clothing and beauty. I also enjoy possessing (some) of the greater athletic aptitude that men have. 10. What changes have you seen/do you think you will see regarding the role of men/women in society during your lifetime? I think that in my lifetime, for better or for worse, men and women will become much less defined from each other, and less expected to fit gender roles. I see how this can benefit, but I worry that the consequences will be much worse. History shows that an ill–defined society tends to fall apart, and I worry that once we cross a certain threshold as a society, that we too will fall apart. 11. What advice would you give (other gender) to help in the relationships? For men, I would suggest to try and be more genuinely empathetic of how women are feeling and thinking. It is important to actually try to understand what your female counterpart is saying, and take that with genuine attention, concern, and thought. Robert,

Students were surrounded by different ethnic groups and learned how to mesh well with each other. I learned tolerance and acceptance of other groups but I also noticed others whom displayed behaviors that was not in the same beliefs as my own. Being an enthusized young girl engulfed in her culture, I joined the African American club(AAC). I began researching how to become a positive role model in my community and volunteering wherever I could if it involved the advancement of my people. I became what we now call the younger revoluntist and became comfortable in my own skin. I became compassionate for my race as well as other minorities that face the same daunting issues in society. I decided I wanted to be in a field that will allow me to help others reach their ultimate potential and life and genuinely give back to my community in any way I can. I've learned those who displayed racism/discrimination learned intolerance from their parents or close individuals around them. Looking back I can apply learning from psychology and sociology classes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
