Literary Analysis Of The Prologue By Anne Bradstreet
Yen Dao
Professor Bodkin
ENG 241
02 February 2018 Literary Analysis Paper #1 Throughout The Prologue , Bradstreet adopts an
empirical approach that lacks the crass rhetoric evident in the words of her male counterparts. A
majority of Puritan authors in the 1600s choose to incorporate scripture and relate back their
experiences to God in their writings. Additionally, the Puritan mentality almost demands that writers
incorporate praise for God, demonstrate that all actions are in the pursuit of salvation, and to do it all
with a certain amount of gusto and fervor. However, Bradstreet preferred to write based on her own
personal experiences and observations. She emerges as a rebellious voice for women during the mid
1600s, though ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her methods are more sly and ambiguous. Bradstreet states, Let Greeks be Greeks / Men have
precedency / It is but vain unjustly to wage war ( The Prologue 37 39). In the first line, Bradstreet
again adopts an exclusionary tone. She does not group herself in with Greek poets and seemingly
believes that her work is not of the same stature. However, her tone is not indicative of complacency.
Knowledge and familiarity of Greek poetry suggests Bradstreet commands more expertise than she is
letting on in the poem. Furthermore, Bradstreet recognizes the circumstances that prevent her from
fully owning her literary skills. She notes that men have precedency and still excel, suggesting that
this is one of the main reasons why Bradstreet is reluctant to be forthright in her criticism of the social
environment in which she publishes her poem ( The Prologue 38). Bradstreet understands that she
alone cannot elicit major strides toward social change when noting that it is vain...to wage war ( The
Prologue 39). She believes that it is also unjustly because it would be a waste of her capabilities.
Bradstreet understands that social change is incremental. She can make a more significant and
meaningful contribution by writing her poems than by conducting a full on battle. The poem, while it
may placate those who feel threatened by a female writer, subtly challenges readers to critically
examine what was accepted as a career and the overall role of women in Puritan

Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse
Many people have pets; a large majority of them are of course cats and dogs. A pet is defined as a
domestic or tamed animal kept for companionship or pleasure. (Dictionary). I believe that a pet is the
most loyal friend you can ever have. Having such innocent animals depend on you whether it s a cat,
dog, fish, bunny and etc. is such a wonderful feeling to endure. Some people however, have this
disgusting urge in them as to hurt such innocent animals. I have watched many commercials related to
such crimes, but there was one that mainly stuck out with me with Sarah McLachlan. The video asks
people to stop cat and dog abuse by making us views feel sympathy, through a mellow tone, vivid
images, and effectively using arrangement and statistics. I could never push myself to hurt such
selfless animals. They don t ever deserve that. What could an animal do to deserve these cruel acts?
When is it considered okay to hurt an animal? I chose (ASPCA) The American Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals because today in North America they are one of the largest
organizations and were one the first humane society to be established. Their organization was founded
on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans and
must be protected under the law. I can tell that this organization has a genuine goal to help these

The Mis Education Of The Negro
The Mis Education of the Negro in Review
Carter G Woodson, the oldest of nine in a poor coal mining family found his love of learning early.
Earning a Masters degree only one year after earning a bachelor s degree, he quickly followed in the
footsteps of great minds and earned his PhD from Harvard University. He had a very well rounded and
multifaceted educational journey according to the text, but felt most connected to furthering the
pursuit of excellence for all African Americans through the creation of journals, organizations, and
eventually continuing on in higher education with the African American in mind. He is credited with
Black History week. In light of the time in history wherein he flourished, it is fitting that he was part
of the movement that resulted in the creation of the NAACP (iv v). In short, he objectively appears to
single handedly be the father of the African American social awareness movement. In this particular
body of work, Woodson discusses many issues that arose and mistakes made (and appear to still be
relevant) in the educating of people of color. One such issue and summary discussed, is the disdain the
learned African American develops for his fellow less formally educated African American brother,
for himself, and for life in general because he has been estranged by a vision of ideals...he can not
attain (6). He must exist in a social body that he must not associate with socially, and yet has no
alternative. The self hate that is taught,

Vagueness, Ambiguity In Critical Thinking
Teo Camy 4) Explain the concept of vagueness, ambiguity, over generality and definition as used in
critical thinking. Provide examples. Based on Oxford dictionary, the definition of vague is uncertain,
indefinite, or unclear character or meaning (Oxford Dictionaries, n.d.). Vagueness in critical thinking
is an unclear situation with insufficient details given. For example, if we were asked to describe one
particular person who we met for the first time, we will describe looking for the person. He is a tall
man, skinny but little fat, with black pupils . These characteristics are not going to give an image of
that person to others because these features are too common and there are no specific detailed features
being described. Another simple example of vagueness is there are many people in the concert last
night . The statement stated that there are a lot of people, but it does not give any image of how many
people exactly or approximately that attend the concert. Furthermore, another example of sentence
with vague meaning is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Individual) Critical Thinking is a compulsory subject which most students have to study when they
reach university level. The question is why do students have to study this particular subject? In my
opinion, it is because employers in the current market will be looking for thinking skills in university
graduates, with many seeing it as criteria to have these skills while they are choosing their employees.
Many may ask, what is critical thinking? Chaffee defined critical thinking as a purposeful, organized
cognitive process that we use to understand the world and make informed decisions. In simple words,
critical thinking is the ability to think clearly and rationally. Generally, critical thinking skill has been
regarded as one of the most essential living skills in life. The question is how critical thinking skill
would help us in real life and to what

Stephanie Bennett Regional Theatre Analysis
What is the Role and Function of Theatre in a Regional City?
To me, regional theatre means home, something that is part of me and brings culture to where I live. I
have lived in 3 different cities in England, each of them being completely different. Personally, I
believe that theatre emphasises culture and difference in a regional city. Stephanie Bennett explains
The beauty of regional theatre is that the local performances are often raw and visceral in their
authenticity (2016), this stood out to me because I believe it states what regional theatre is about.
What does it mean to be a regional city?
Lyn Gardner Explains in her article In theatre is regional a dirty word? (2012) that regional cities go
beyond their distinctive tastes in food and how each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lyn Gardner talks on an experience in York when a cast of 180 people from the community marched
around York in honour of the soldiers in World War One. She goes on to explain Angels stopped the
traffic; people got up from their seats on buses so they could see what was going on; children played
around the edges as if it were the most natural thing in the world. People hurrying by suddenly
slowed, stopped and smiled. (2013) this is the real and true definition of regional theatre and the
power it has to make a whole community watch and feel the performance.
The word theatre has so much meaning behind it and its obvious to see that by just simply going to
two different theatres and comparing the two, each theatre has a different role and function. This
shows that there is so many different roles and functions with one regional city. There would be no
point in regional theatre if it just had one purpose throughout. That s what makes regional theatre so
unique and different to the rest.
Is there theatre that can only be performed in its regional

Examples Of Format A Resume
1 Format your resume. It is vital to make the right first impression to your prospective employers
because the first thing that will jump into their sight is how well organized your resume is. In most
cases, your resume will not get a thorough reading at the first time no matter how well written.
Therefore, it is a good idea to make your resume attractive and readable by formatting. There are some
useful tips for you to format your resume. First, keep your resume short and simple. Most people do
not need more than two pages unless you have extensive related skills and experience. Second, invite
employers attention by using wide margins and a logical format. A logical format contributes to the
effect of the overall design and wide margins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3 Make your content shine. The description of your education and work experience is the core of your
resume, which is also the section that employers will mainly focus on. Therefore, making your content
interesting and descriptive will enable your resume to stand out from competitors. Here are some ways
that can help your resume gets noticed. First, use active voice and expressive verbs to describe the
specific things that you have done. These can highlight your ability and skills, and spice up your
resume to make it stand out. For example, if you were an administrative assistant, you might want to
use words such as scheduled and coordinated . You can use them by writing Scheduled and
coordinated appointments. Another good way to make your content shine is to put more emphasis on
your achievements and accomplishments. By emphasizing the results you have delivered with specific
facts and highlighting the ways you have added value in the past, you will be able to demonstrate your
ability and skills for solving problems with convincing evidence. The last effective way is to choose a
descriptive title for your previous job position. For instance, instead of saying you were a secretary,
say you were an administrative assistant. In addition, think about how well the title can describe the
job. For example, manager is a vague concept

The Probate Process
Probate is a process which begins when an individual passes away. This legal process oversees the
administration of the person s estate and the resolution of any claims that may be placed on this estate.
Upon completion of the debt resolution process, assets are distributed as laid out by the person who
passed away. Probate law is the area of law that interprets any instructions of the person who is
deceased and determines who will become executor of the will and serve as this person s personal
representative. In addition, it adjudicates the interests of anyone who has a claim against the estate,
including heirs and other parties.
The Administration Of Probate Law
The first step in the probate process involves formally declaring the will of the deceased to be valid.
Legal notices must be published and all creditors notified when the individual passes away. The law
outlines how assets must be distributed and creditors paid and puts time constraints on the filing and
object of claims against this estate. Separate procedures are needed when an ... Show more content on

A living trust allows one to avoid probate and assets may be transferred without going through the
probate process with the aid of transfer on death or paid on death accounts. Joint tenancy with

also be named on a life estate deed to have property passed down through the generations.
As different assets may be distributed various ways to ensure they aren t part of the probate process, it
is best to seek legal advice. The cost of creating trusts, joint tenancies and more need to be compared

Compare And Contrast Rowlandson And Rowlandson
It is very difficult to know the intentions of the writers of the texts, especially on Rowlandson s case
because the versions we have, although were written by herself, were also edited and revised by some
Puritans Reverends and the real intentions are lost. However there are some ideas that can be found on
the cover page, under the title when she says that it is written by her own hand, for her private use but
lately published after some friends requests for the benefit of the afflicted. Those types of texts,
catalogued within the captivity narrative genre, are valuable documents charting our literary and
cultural history (Derouninan Stodola, 253).

Lojano Study
Most of the migration studies have been focused on the concept of migration looked in the
international realm, which is migration from one country to another. This study is not focusing on that
realm but rather the internal migrations that have been happening in Latin America in particular from
rural areas to urban areas and that has been accentuated since the 1940s. The rapid urbanization of
Latin America, and the concentration of masses of people in the great cities made internal migration
an area of attraction for further analysis. This study is focused on how the students that migrate from

However, as I will explain further in this paper, educational migration is not limited to the pursuing of
professional opportunities. Results from many analysis suggest that migration is not solely the result
of pursuing more income. If this was the case, the effects of friends and family should be nonexistent.
The urban rural stream and, above all, migration toward the great urban centers are the most
frequently studied movements, and perhaps they have the greatest significance in connection with the
recent social and economic changes in Latin America. Although Loja is not a rural area per se, it is
important to recognize how approaching the lojanos migration to Quito from this point of view can
provide new perspectives on migration apart from the rather common economic approach. It is

Propaganda Techniques Used By Jacques Ellul
1. According to philosopher Jacques Ellul, Propaganda is a set of methods employed by an organized
group that wants to bring about the active or passive participation in its actions of a mass of
individuals, psychologically, unified through psychological manipulation and incorporated in an
organization. (Bytwerk, 3) Methods of propaganda range from films, such as Leni Riefenstahl s
Olympiad and Triumph of the Will, to posters, marches, and sporting events. Propaganda is a means in
which a group can control and win the loyalty of its citizens. However, as Ellul states, it is not merely
a tool to encourage the unification and support of a group of people, it is to call those people to
actively participate in the motives and and beliefs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Propaganda does not allow room for intellectual exchange, rather, it tells people this is the ideology,
policy, or ethical stance they need to hold if they want to be good people, and citizens. In Leni
Riefenstahl s Triumph of the Will, only a strong, unified Germany is presented, with speeches, rallies,
and majestic shots that present a powerful leader at the head of a prideful and perfect nation.
Propaganda is persuasion in that anyone watching the film is surely persuaded to sympathize with the
Nazi party, who are presented as orderly and civilized, yet strong and brave. However, Triumph of the
Will does nothing to persuade skeptical Germans of why they should have supported the Nazi party, or
why Jews were being systematically rounded up. Instead, the film leaves out any actions that could
have been questioned, and provides no actual, concrete reasons for the necessity of the Nazi party and
Hitler s leadership. It only presents Hitler as a strong leader. Propaganda intentionally commits the
shared opinion error. Organizations intentionally assume that every citizen holds the same beliefs and
ideologies as they do, and create propaganda that reflects the views of all citizens . This is a part of the
psychological manipulation that propagandists employ. By presenting the truth they want people to
universally accept as unchallenged and plain fact, they create a sense of inclusivity. If a person has
different viewpoints than what is

Management of Old growth Forests in the Pacific Northwest
When westward expansion brought settlers to the Northwest in the 1800s, they discovered that
coniferous trees forty feet in circumference [that] shot two hundred feet straight up flourished in the
forests of the Pacific coast (Ervin 55). These early pioneers found the opportunity for economic
growth in logging these vast forests of towering trees unlike any they had seen before. Today, the
timber industry still remains the backbone of economic support for Washington, Oregon, and
northwestern California, but an inevitable conflict has arisen between humans and our environment. A
struggle over the control of the use of the old growth forests threatens the balance of the ... Show more

On July 23, 1990, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, under the pressure of environmentalists and
scientific studies, listed the spotted owl as a threatened species, one step away from endangered, and
entitled themselves to protecting the owl from hunting, trading, or federal action that could destroy its
breeding or feeding grounds (Carey 13). This listing came on the heels of years of extensive studies of
the spotted owl and its habitat conducted by environmental groups, the timber industry, and
governmental researchers. These studies resulted in recommendations, such as the one made in early
1990 by a committee headed by the U.S. Forest Service s chief, Jack Ward Thomas, calling for 30 40
percent of public forests to be exempted from logging to protect the remaining 3000 6000 owl pairs in
the Northwest. Yet, by late 1990, there had been no decrease in the rate of logging to accommodate the
owl (Abate 8).
As early as 1971, biologists had warned the Forest Service and the timber industry that old growth
logging could endanger the spotted owl, which is a slow breeder. Studies have shown that the spotted
owl s major prey, the red tree vole and the Northern flying squirrel, thrive in the environment of the
protective old growth forest and that when the forest that an owl lives in is logged, it will travel
hundreds of miles to feed in distant ancient forests. As each acre of ancient trees falls, the

The Flights Of Fancy And The Freedom Of Speech Essay
In the hypothetical Flights of Fancy and the Freedom of Speech, Jeremy is a 16 year old video game
addict who is suspended after posting some fanfiction on facebook which involves characters from his
favorite video game, Space Traveler XVIII, plotting to kill one of the characters, Waroomba. The
characters are unable to kill Waroombra, however, because he has a copy of the United States

it everywhere with him including the beach, gym, and school. The next day, another student reported
the post to the principle, Principle Underwood, and Jeremy is suspended. After being suspended,
Jeremy and his family are upset claiming that the school suspension violated Jeremy s first

s first amendment rights when she suspended him from school for his Facebook posting which, among
other things, included a character s reference to bringing an assault rifle to school? In the past, the
Rule of Law for the First Amendment was that American citizens had the right not to speak (West

The Doctrine Of Judicial Law
Before critically analysing the extent to which the doctrine of judicial precedent affects judicial law
making, one must first contemplate what the doctrine of judicial precedent is. The doctrine is a rule
that all lower courts are to be bound by the decision or ratio decidendi of the higher courts. As a result
of this, cases that are alike are decided in a similar way . However, it is not this simple, as it will be
seen throughout this essay that wider circumstances are involved that affect the judicial law making
process. Judicial law making (otherwise known as common law) is judge made law rather than law set
out in statute. The relationship between the two will be evaluated. Firstly, it is important to outline the
types of decisions that are made in courts. Decisions made in the courts are the starting point of the
doctrine of judicial precedent because it is these decisions that binds the courts in subsequent cases.
This can help the courts but can also hinder them when creating common law principles. Two different
types of decision making should then be outlined, these being rule based and reason based decisions.
When a decision is made it can either be made on the strict rules that apply to the situation or on the
balance of all relevant reason. Due to the doctrine, lower courts must take the former approach being
bound by the rules established in the decisions of the higher courts. Rule based decisions are
supported by Sir William Blackstone who observed the

Implementation Of A Large Quality Management System
Munson Healthcare includes nine owned or affiliated hospitals with more than 7,000 employees. It
provides services to patients from 30 counties in Michigan spread through the northern half of the
Lower Peninsula as well as the eastern half of the Upper Peninsula. As part of the organization s True
North initiative, the patient is central to all processes. In this large and varied organization,
implementation of a large quality management system will help ensure that we meet this goal.
The International Organization for Standardization developed a series of written quality standards
(Evans, 2014). The purpose was to standardize quality requirements between European countries in
the common market and countries wanting to do business with them (Evans, 2014). This paper will
review the ISO 9000 standards, the benefits of implementing an ISO compliant quality management

Ipv6 And Ipv6 Address Resolution Protocol
Since there are so many IP addresses that need to be handled on the Internet, IPv4 and IPv6 need a
way to keep track and configure them. This is normally referred to as address resolution. This includes
translating network layer addresses into link layer addresses, having automatic assignments of
addresses, and routing data to the correct location on a specific network. IPv4 uses a protocol called
Address Resolution Protocol, or ARP, in order to translate IP addresses into MAC addresses. A MAC
address is the unique number given to the network interface card in each computing device. The
reason this needs to be done is because on many intranet networks, the internal communication and
delivery of data is based off of the MAC address rather than the IP address. The Dynamic Host
Control Protocol, or DHCP, handles the automatic configuration and assignment of IP addresses in
IPv4. DHCP is an internal protocol that takes the MAC addresses of the NICs on a network, and
automatically assigns IP addresses. It also keeps track of them so that two NICs don t acquire the same
IP address. Without DHCP every IP address would have to be entered manually by the system
administrator, which would be incredibly difficult considering how many devices can potentially
access a network. IPv6 uses similar methods to perform both of those functions, but there are still
important differences that exist to improve the way that IPv6 performs. Instead of ARP, IPv6 uses the

Women Of The United States Armed Forces
Women are vital to the stability and efficiency of all branches of the United States armed forces.
Although women s presence may be necessary to the operation of the military, their placement in
combat positions would prove to be a devastating mistake. The body of a woman is not made to brave
combat positions, and placing women into positions dominated by men could create a hostile working
environment. The atmosphere of battle is already heated, and placing more problems into the equation
could lead to the unraveling of military effectiveness as the country knows it. Consequently, women
should continued to be excluded from combat oriented positions in order to preserve the superb work
of the United States armed forces. Placing a woman into a field comprised mostly of men would upset
a balance of unit cohesion and morale among their male counterparts. Unit cohesion result[s] from
proximity of group members over time; social similarities or commonalities; success at joint tasks;
and concerned, competent, honest leaders (Simons). This means that the individuals that comprise a
combat unit must be able to relate to each other, and work together in positive and constructive ways
in order to carry out dangerous, high risk missions. During combat operations, soldiers and their units
are confined to small spaces for extended periods of time. The addition of women into this close
quartered group would add romantic and sexual elements that can cause competition, jealousy, and

Shock Therapy Research Paper
In times of distress, people will tend to be more easily influenced, corrupt government officials often
take advantage of this aspect of American society to boost otherwise unpopular neoliberal reforms.
This phenomenon is called Shock therapy an example of which would include the signing of the
Patriot Act following the disaster of the world trade center on September 11, 2001. The U.S was in
mass disorientation as corrupt government officials used this to promote the privatization of
government programs that were under the supervision of the Department of Homeland Security. This
disaster was used as a way to stimulate the privatization of many government regulated sectors,
however the most affected was homeland security. Through the use of public dismay of terrorism, the

The privatization of Homeland security created profits from the public as they were in fear of terror

public being in shock.
Secondly, the shock created from 9/11 formed a new market for United States security which was

were in a state of shock and fear. People were in fear of terrorism and would be easily susceptible to

Writing A Book Is Just Too Impossible Because It s Not
Introduction
Has anyone wanted to write a book before, but believed they couldn t? Has anyone here thought about
writing a book at least once in their lives? Does anyone here write currently? Writing isn t as complex
of a process as you might think it is, in fact, I challenge all of you to throw away that preconceived
notion that writing a book is just too impossible because it s not. the question is. Where do you begin?
Beginning
Step 1
Beginning a book may not sound too complicated to some people and it s not. What is important is to
understand what you should be working on first. Some of you may look at this book in my hand and
say, the title should be worked on first but you d be wrong. In my first delivered speech that was about

What more do you want to add? Think about the timeline in which your book will take place in.
Step 5
The last step is deciding what person do you prefer your book to be written in. You can always
experiment with persons by trying the beginning of your story in both first, second and third person.
I like the process of pencil and paper as opposed to a machine. I think the writing is better when it s
done in handwriting. Nelson DeMille, Author of action, adventure and suspense novels
Beginning To Write
When starting to write all your ideas onto paper don t over analyze what you re saying since this is
your first draft and you will be writing multiple drafts till you re pleased with one. But when you re
starting to write you need to realize that the beginning few chapters of your book should show your
protagonist in their normal environment whether that be home or at school. This doesn t have to
happen all in one chapter, but if you think of a book as a journey down the character s life you need to
know them in order to have any empathy with them and that includes how they interact with other
people and how they react to their normal environment.
Example
This is an example of what a first page of a book may sound that I thought would be beneficial for you
to hear as it might get you thinking on what you might write about.

Juveniles Should Be Sent To Adult Prison
There are a lot of people out there who commit crimes, people of different race and age. I
agree that at whatever age that the crime is committed that the punishment should be the same for
every criminal. Everyone has different opinions on whether juveniles or teens should be sent to adult
prison and my opinion is that they should be sent to adult prison. I have my reasons for saying this.
When adults commit a crime they know what they are doing, they know what they are getting
themselves into, and they know what possible punishment they could get. When teens commit a crime
they have just as much responsibility as an adult has when committing a crime. As Marjie Lundstrom
says in Kids are Kids , They are kids that is, until they foul up. Until they commit crimes. And the
bigger the crime, the more eager we are to call them adults. In this quote I believe her words because
there are some kids out there that do worse crimes than adults and there are kids that commit crimes
when some adults don t commit crimes at all. Kids are kids until they commit crimes.
Age doesn t matter when either adults or teens are committing a crime because either way a crime was
committed and there are people out there of different ages ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

It doesn t make a good counterargument because if a teen s brain isn t as developed as an adult brain

The Novel American Pastoral By Philip Roth
A novelist incorporates three crucial elements when writing a novel. The first element is the ability for
the author to draw from his or her own experiences. A novelist will paint an issue, usually political or
social, on the canvas of the pages in the book. He or she draw from experiences, what they remember
from the event taking place, locations, dates, and use a splash of fiction to blend the perfect color for
the novel. The author will mainly stick to the color coated facts to give the reader an authentic feel for
the story, but gracefully integrates fiction to in essence portray the spin to the truth they desire. A
novel is also driven by the desire to understand others, often in a sympathetic light. And last, but not
least, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Roth uses Nathan to reincarnate the protagonist in the novel, Seymour
Swede Levov, as Swede s life is retold through the accounts of Zuckerman.
The story of Swede s life in the novel is translucent. It is only semi clear in nature as the narrator
gathers the preponderance of information second hand through the tales from characters that knew
Swede. Much of the minutiae of Swede s life were a reconstruction of the character through the
imagination of how it would have occurred in Zuckerman s head.
Nathan Zuckerman had an indescribable fascination for Swede from the very conception of the novel.
He was his hero, idol, and a hometown legend. Nathan grew up in the Jewish community with Swede
in Newark, New Jersey. Swede was someone to look up to for Nathan and many others. He was
referred to as Swede because even though he was Jewish, he was graced with superior athletic ability
and physical attributes, being tall, with blonde hair and blue eyes. The Unjewish Jew. He escaped the
bind of the Jewish community with these attributes, and was admired by Nathan for it. Nathan had
more exposure to his hero through befriending his brother, Jerry Levov. Jerry was radically different
than the Swede as Nathan recounts. He had a fiery side, unlike his cool, calm, and collected brother.

An extension of this approach is in network aggregation which aggregates data progressively as it is
passed through a network. In network data aggregation can reduce the data packet size, the number of
data transmissions and the number of nodes involved in gathering data from a WSN. Therefore, in the
field of WSNs, privacy preserving data aggregation is becoming a hot issue in WSNs. To address this
issue, some protocols have been proposed. In this, they provide a comprehensive summary and
comparison of the existing privacy preserving data aggregation protocols for WSNs. WSN is related to
privacy preserving data aggregation protocols (Ping et al 2012). In the authors reviewed privacy
preserving techniques for protecting two types of private information: data oriented and context
oriented privacy. First, authors focuses only on data privacy in order to provide detailed overviews of
the existing privacy preserving data aggregation protocols for WSNs (Ping et al 2012). Two main
security challenges in secure data aggregation are confidentiality and integrity of data (Sugandhi et al
2013). While traditionally encryption is used to provide end to end confidentiality in Wireless Sensor
Network (WSN), the aggregators in a secure data aggregation scenario need to decrypt the encrypted
data to perform aggregation. Thus, while data aggregation improves energy efficiency of a network, it
complicates the existing

The U.S economy is growing rapidly and therefore it has affect any business organization of a firm.
The current economic state affects the retail services of REI in the following ways. The U.S. Economy

is because of substantial exchange with outside countries. The consequence of this is retailers are

Therefore, customers in the US have reduced the rate at which they purchase or search for REI
services since they are a bit expensive. It is obvious that the company will have to cope with some
changes. (Reis et al, 2016)

Japan s Attack on Pearl Harbour Essay
Japan s Attack on Pearl Harbour
In December 1941, Pearl Harbour was attacked by the Japanese. It was the consequence of a series of
events which brought tension between Japan and America to boiling point. Japan was a country
growing in power and stature and America soon came to realise that this growth could prove a threat
to them. America aimed to stop Japan s growth in its tracks as they realised that if the situation was
left to evolve much longer then the situation may be out of their control. However, it can be argued
that by not seriously dealing with this threat until the 1940 s, America had left things too late and
faced an opponent who would not back down.

At the Washington Conferences in 1921, America reasoned with the Japanese government and decided
that Japan s naval bases and naval arms would be limited. For every 5 ships that America had, Japan
would be allowed a maximum of 3. Although Japan agreed, they still aimed to expand more so that
they could become one of the major world powers.
The Great Depression in America hit Japan with force. Japan was affected because America s trade
was vital to Japan s survival. Trade with America became limited and Japans economic prosperity was
at risk. Japan needed more imports. The army decided on a militaristic option and seized Manchuria,
as it had rich supplies of raw materials such as coal, iron ore, timber and rice. They believed that by
expanding, Japan could become more powerful. As Japanese troops were already stationed in
Manchuria, it proved an easy target for the Japanese. The Americans, focusing on their own needs, did
not interfere with the seizing of Manchuria. This proved to be a bad decision for them as their trade
links with China were badly affected, but more importantly Because of the success in Manchuria the
military gained power. The public became more enthusiastic and supportive of militaristic
nationalism. This led to the military running the government by the late 1930s as many people

Philosophy is an all important aspect of our lives. It is philosophy that we turn to when have the need

What one believes is sacred and my own beliefs, I cherish dearly. In this aspect, philosophy allows us
to live our lives with confidence, because we know that ideas cannot be taken from us. In the United
States, we can feel free to express our opinions and beliefs as long as we do not impinge upon other s
rights. This is where a common philosophy has been accepted and adopted by a people. This
macrocosmic unity of a nation demonstrates the power of philosophy. In another area, philosophy is
vital: religion. Religions are perhaps the largest groups of people who share a common philosophy.
Their uniform beliefs cause the members of each religion to philosophize in a common theme in
which the religion does not allow any radical deviation. One of philosophy s most important aspects is
its flexibility. This flexibility allows the individual to endlessly engender new thoughts and theories. It
was this flexibility that encouraged great thinkers to expound their ideas. It is dubious that their ideas
can change others , but in each stage of transition and growth there is an opportunity for new
philosophies to come in and help us live our lives better. Philosophy grants us the chance to live a

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Terraced Fields
Terraced fields have existed in many ancient human civilizations for thousands of years. They are
ubiquitous; from the Incas to the Chinese, even in Europe, we see terraced fields developed and used
for many purposes. Most terraced fields were constructed for agriculture, but some are developed to
control floods and other purposes.
To this day, we still see some terraced fields around the world, which allows us to admire their natural
beauty. However, while we are admiring the beauty of terraced fields, many seemed to forget to learn
from them in solving our current water problems. Dam constructions have been a controversial one

They found that the terraced fields in the Loess Plateau region results in higher soil moisture while
maintaining soil fertility. This means that plants are able to absorb more water from the soil during the
second crop. In the dry West China, such natural water conservation is significant in helping farmers
grow their plants throughout the year. Terraced fields also tremendously reduced erosion in the region.
Comparing the erosion modulus of regular sloped land and terraced land in the region, the erosion
modulus of terraced land is about 1.8% that of the regular sloped land. This means that terraced land
preserved and improved the soil in the region for sustainable agriculture. With better and richer soil,
agriculture production yield increased dramatically, which generated a lot of revenue. Since each step
of terraced fields are shallower than dams, they could also become the habitat of many birds.
According to the definition of wetlands from RAMSAR, any body of water, static or flowing, with
water depth of less than six meters could be considered as wetlands. If we follow this definition, then
technically terraced fields could be considered as a collection of wetlands. Although this definition
would open the door to many legal issues dealing with wetlands, which are beyond the scope of this

Have you seen the world yet? Not many people can say yes so early in their lives and they certainly

they ve been everywhere they want to be before they get married and settle down to have kids and

However many don t follow the same mindset when they have the chance and they lose that

Babylon Short Story Summary
Babylon Short Story
Tyree Turner, David Gebhart, Raul Garcia
In the year 1792 B.C. Babylon introduced their sixth king of Babylon Empire, King Hammurabi who
assumed the throne from his father Sin Muballit. The rule of Hammurabi and his strict, often extreme
no tolerance policy had begun. Though his punishments of the accused and guilty occasionally seemed
appropriate, many felt Hammurabi s methods were inhumane although his intentions give the
impression that it was in good spirit. As the sun began to set behind the temple to Marduk the
induction ceremony of the new King of Babylon presented his power to rule by introducing the list of
laws that were set to be effective immediately. Here, Hammurabi proclaims that he wants to make
justice visible in the land, to destroy the wicked person and the evil doer, that the strong might not
injure the weak. He goes on to say that the laws themselves uphold compassion, and protect widows,
orphans and others from being harmed or exploited by those seeking to take advantage of those who
may not be able to defend themselves. Hammurabi clearly understood that to accomplish his goal, he
needed one universal set of laws for all of the diverse peoples he conquered. Therefore, he made
aware to his subjects that prior to his ascension to king that he sent legal experts throughout his
kingdom to gather existing laws. These laws were revised and some were changed or disregarded
before compiling his final list of 282 laws. Hammurabi made known

Things to Remember When Writing a Business Proposal
Now that you know the essentials of a winning business proposal, it s time to go ahead and start
writing, right? Well, not exactly.
The next part is to be able to find out what to put under the 3 Ps so that you can develop a business

  • 2. Literary Analysis Of The Prologue By Anne Bradstreet Yen Dao Professor Bodkin ENG 241 02 February 2018 Literary Analysis Paper #1 Throughout The Prologue , Bradstreet adopts an empirical approach that lacks the crass rhetoric evident in the words of her male counterparts. A majority of Puritan authors in the 1600s choose to incorporate scripture and relate back their experiences to God in their writings. Additionally, the Puritan mentality almost demands that writers incorporate praise for God, demonstrate that all actions are in the pursuit of salvation, and to do it all with a certain amount of gusto and fervor. However, Bradstreet preferred to write based on her own personal experiences and observations. She emerges as a rebellious voice for women during the mid 1600s, though ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her methods are more sly and ambiguous. Bradstreet states, Let Greeks be Greeks / Men have precedency / It is but vain unjustly to wage war ( The Prologue 37 39). In the first line, Bradstreet again adopts an exclusionary tone. She does not group herself in with Greek poets and seemingly believes that her work is not of the same stature. However, her tone is not indicative of complacency. Knowledge and familiarity of Greek poetry suggests Bradstreet commands more expertise than she is letting on in the poem. Furthermore, Bradstreet recognizes the circumstances that prevent her from fully owning her literary skills. She notes that men have precedency and still excel, suggesting that this is one of the main reasons why Bradstreet is reluctant to be forthright in her criticism of the social environment in which she publishes her poem ( The Prologue 38). Bradstreet understands that she alone cannot elicit major strides toward social change when noting that it is vain...to wage war ( The Prologue 39). She believes that it is also unjustly because it would be a waste of her capabilities. Bradstreet understands that social change is incremental. She can make a more significant and meaningful contribution by writing her poems than by conducting a full on battle. The poem, while it may placate those who feel threatened by a female writer, subtly challenges readers to critically examine what was accepted as a career and the overall role of women in Puritan ... • 3. Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse Many people have pets; a large majority of them are of course cats and dogs. A pet is defined as a domestic or tamed animal kept for companionship or pleasure. (Dictionary). I believe that a pet is the most loyal friend you can ever have. Having such innocent animals depend on you whether it s a cat, dog, fish, bunny and etc. is such a wonderful feeling to endure. Some people however, have this disgusting urge in them as to hurt such innocent animals. I have watched many commercials related to such crimes, but there was one that mainly stuck out with me with Sarah McLachlan. The video asks people to stop cat and dog abuse by making us views feel sympathy, through a mellow tone, vivid images, and effectively using arrangement and statistics. I could never push myself to hurt such selfless animals. They don t ever deserve that. What could an animal do to deserve these cruel acts? When is it considered okay to hurt an animal? I chose (ASPCA) The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals because today in North America they are one of the largest organizations and were one the first humane society to be established. Their organization was founded on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans and must be protected under the law. I can tell that this organization has a genuine goal to help these animal the President and CEO of ASPCA also gives some insight on why he is a part of such an organization Helping ... • 4. The Mis Education Of The Negro The Mis Education of the Negro in Review Carter G Woodson, the oldest of nine in a poor coal mining family found his love of learning early. Earning a Masters degree only one year after earning a bachelor s degree, he quickly followed in the footsteps of great minds and earned his PhD from Harvard University. He had a very well rounded and multifaceted educational journey according to the text, but felt most connected to furthering the pursuit of excellence for all African Americans through the creation of journals, organizations, and eventually continuing on in higher education with the African American in mind. He is credited with Black History week. In light of the time in history wherein he flourished, it is fitting that he was part of the movement that resulted in the creation of the NAACP (iv v). In short, he objectively appears to single handedly be the father of the African American social awareness movement. In this particular body of work, Woodson discusses many issues that arose and mistakes made (and appear to still be relevant) in the educating of people of color. One such issue and summary discussed, is the disdain the learned African American develops for his fellow less formally educated African American brother, for himself, and for life in general because he has been estranged by a vision of ideals...he can not attain (6). He must exist in a social body that he must not associate with socially, and yet has no alternative. The self hate that is taught, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Vagueness, Ambiguity In Critical Thinking Teo Camy 4) Explain the concept of vagueness, ambiguity, over generality and definition as used in critical thinking. Provide examples. Based on Oxford dictionary, the definition of vague is uncertain, indefinite, or unclear character or meaning (Oxford Dictionaries, n.d.). Vagueness in critical thinking is an unclear situation with insufficient details given. For example, if we were asked to describe one particular person who we met for the first time, we will describe looking for the person. He is a tall man, skinny but little fat, with black pupils . These characteristics are not going to give an image of that person to others because these features are too common and there are no specific detailed features being described. Another simple example of vagueness is there are many people in the concert last night . The statement stated that there are a lot of people, but it does not give any image of how many people exactly or approximately that attend the concert. Furthermore, another example of sentence with vague meaning is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Individual) Critical Thinking is a compulsory subject which most students have to study when they reach university level. The question is why do students have to study this particular subject? In my opinion, it is because employers in the current market will be looking for thinking skills in university graduates, with many seeing it as criteria to have these skills while they are choosing their employees. Many may ask, what is critical thinking? Chaffee defined critical thinking as a purposeful, organized cognitive process that we use to understand the world and make informed decisions. In simple words, critical thinking is the ability to think clearly and rationally. Generally, critical thinking skill has been regarded as one of the most essential living skills in life. The question is how critical thinking skill would help us in real life and to what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Stephanie Bennett Regional Theatre Analysis What is the Role and Function of Theatre in a Regional City? To me, regional theatre means home, something that is part of me and brings culture to where I live. I have lived in 3 different cities in England, each of them being completely different. Personally, I believe that theatre emphasises culture and difference in a regional city. The word theatre has so much meaning behind it and its obvious to see that by just simply going to two different theatres and comparing the two, each theatre has a different role and function. This shows that there is so many different roles and functions with one regional city. There would be no point in regional theatre if it just had one purpose throughout. According to philosopher Jacques Ellul, Propaganda is a set of methods employed by an organized group that wants to bring about the active or passive participation in its actions of a mass of individuals, psychologically, unified through psychological manipulation and incorporated in an organization. (Bytwerk, 3) Methods of propaganda range from films, such as Leni Riefenstahl s Olympiad and Triumph of the Will, to posters, marches, and sporting events. Propaganda is a means in which a group can control and win the loyalty of its citizens. In Leni Riefenstahl s Triumph of the Will, only a strong, unified Germany is presented, with speeches, rallies, and majestic shots that present a powerful leader at the head of a prideful and perfect nation. Propaganda is persuasion in that anyone watching the film is surely persuaded to sympathize with the Nazi party, who are presented as orderly and civilized, yet strong and brave. However, Triumph of the Will does nothing to persuade skeptical Germans of why they should have supported the Nazi party, or why Jews were being systematically rounded up. Instead, the film leaves out any actions that could have been questioned, and provides no actual, concrete reasons for the necessity of the Nazi party and Hitler s leadership. It only presents Hitler as a strong leader. Propaganda intentionally commits the shared opinion error. Organizations intentionally assume that every citizen holds the same beliefs and ideologies as they do, and create propaganda that reflects the views of all citizens . Management of Old growth Forests in the Pacific Northwest When westward expansion brought settlers to the Northwest in the 1800s, they discovered that coniferous trees forty feet in circumference [that] shot two hundred feet straight up flourished in the forests of the Pacific coast (Ervin 55). These early pioneers found the opportunity for economic growth in logging these vast forests of towering trees unlike any they had seen before. This listing came on the heels of years of extensive studies of the spotted owl and its habitat conducted by environmental groups, the timber industry, and governmental researchers. These studies resulted in recommendations, such as the one made in early 1990 by a committee headed by the U.S. Forest Service s chief, Jack Ward Thomas, calling for 30 40 percent of public forests to be exempted from logging to protect the remaining 3000 6000 owl pairs in the Northwest. Yet, by late 1990, there had been no decrease in the rate of logging to accommodate the owl (Abate 8). As early as 1971, biologists had warned the Forest Service and the timber industry that old growth logging could endanger the spotted owl, which is a slow breeder. Studies have shown that the spotted owl s major prey, the red tree vole and the Northern flying squirrel, thrive in the environment of the protective old growth forest and that when the forest that an owl lives in is logged, it will travel hundreds of miles to feed in distant ancient forests. The Doctrine Of Judicial Law Before critically analysing the extent to which the doctrine of judicial precedent affects judicial law making, one must first contemplate what the doctrine of judicial precedent is. The doctrine is a rule that all lower courts are to be bound by the decision or ratio decidendi of the higher courts. As a result of this, cases that are alike are decided in a similar way . However, it is not this simple, as it will be seen throughout this essay that wider circumstances are involved that affect the judicial law making process. Judicial law making (otherwise known as common law) is judge made law rather than law set out in statute. The relationship between the two will be evaluated. Firstly, it is important to outline the types of decisions that are made in courts. Decisions made in the courts are the starting point of the doctrine of judicial precedent because it is these decisions that binds the courts in subsequent cases. This can help the courts but can also hinder them when creating common law principles. Two different types of decision making should then be outlined, these being rule based and reason based decisions. When a decision is made it can either be made on the strict rules that apply to the situation or on the balance of all relevant reason. Due to the doctrine, lower courts must take the former approach being bound by the rules established in the decisions of the higher courts. Rule based decisions are supported by Sir William Blackstone who observed the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Ipv6 And Ipv6 Address Resolution Protocol Since there are so many IP addresses that need to be handled on the Internet, IPv4 and IPv6 need a way to keep track and configure them. This is normally referred to as address resolution. This includes translating network layer addresses into link layer addresses, having automatic assignments of addresses, and routing data to the correct location on a specific network. IPv4 uses a protocol called Address Resolution Protocol, or ARP, in order to translate IP addresses into MAC addresses. A MAC address is the unique number given to the network interface card in each computing device. The reason this needs to be done is because on many intranet networks, the internal communication and delivery of data is based off of the MAC address rather than the IP address. The Dynamic Host Control Protocol, or DHCP, handles the automatic configuration and assignment of IP addresses in IPv4. DHCP is an internal protocol that takes the MAC addresses of the NICs on a network, and automatically assigns IP addresses. It also keeps track of them so that two NICs don t acquire the same IP address. Without DHCP every IP address would have to be entered manually by the system administrator, which would be incredibly difficult considering how many devices can potentially access a network. IPv6 uses similar methods to perform both of those functions, but there are still important differences that exist to improve the way that IPv6 performs. Instead of ARP, IPv6 uses the Neighbor Discovery Protocol ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An extension of this approach is in network aggregation which aggregates data progressively as it is passed through a network. In network data aggregation can reduce the data packet size, the number of data transmissions and the number of nodes involved in gathering data from a WSN. Therefore, in the field of WSNs, privacy preserving data aggregation is becoming a hot issue in WSNs. To address this issue, some protocols have been proposed. In this, they provide a comprehensive summary and comparison of the existing privacy preserving data aggregation protocols for WSNs. WSN is related to privacy preserving data aggregation protocols (Ping et al 2012). In the authors reviewed privacy preserving techniques for protecting two types of private information: data oriented and context oriented privacy. First, authors focuses only on data privacy in order to provide detailed overviews of the existing privacy preserving data aggregation protocols for WSNs (Ping et al 2012). Two main security challenges in secure data aggregation are confidentiality and integrity of data (Sugandhi et al 2013). While traditionally encryption is used to provide end to end confidentiality in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), the aggregators in a secure data aggregation scenario need to decrypt the encrypted data to perform aggregation. Thus, while data aggregation improves energy efficiency of a network, it complicates the existing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was the consequence of a series of events which brought tension between Japan and America to boiling point. Japan was a country growing in power and stature and America soon came to realise that this growth could prove a threat to them. America aimed to stop Japan s growth in its tracks as they realised that if the situation was left to evolve much longer then the situation may be out of their control. However, it can be argued that by not seriously dealing with this threat until the 1940 s, America had left things too late and faced an opponent who would not back down. Japan was a country of ... The Great Depression in America hit Japan with force. Japan was affected because America s trade was vital to Japan s survival. Trade with America became limited and Japans economic prosperity was at risk. Japan needed more imports. The army decided on a militaristic option and seized Manchuria, as it had rich supplies of raw materials such as coal, iron ore, timber and rice. They believed that by expanding, Japan could become more powerful. As Japanese troops were already stationed in Manchuria, it proved an easy target for the Japanese. The Americans, focusing on their own needs, did not interfere with the seizing of Manchuria. This proved to be a bad decision for them as their trade links with China were badly affected, but more importantly Because of the success in Manchuria the military gained power. The public became more enthusiastic and supportive of militaristic nationalism. This led to the military running the government by the late 1930s as many people supported ... This is where a common philosophy has been accepted and adopted by a people. This macrocosmic unity of a nation demonstrates the power of philosophy. In another area, philosophy is vital: religion. Religions are perhaps the largest groups of people who share a common philosophy. Their uniform beliefs cause the members of each religion to philosophize in a common theme in which the religion does not allow any radical deviation. One of philosophy s most important aspects is its flexibility. This flexibility allows the individual to endlessly engender new thoughts and theories. It was this flexibility that encouraged great thinkers to expound their ideas. Most terraced fields were constructed for agriculture, but some are developed to control floods and other purposes. To this day, we still see some terraced fields around the world, which allows us to admire their natural beauty. This means that plants are able to absorb more water from the soil during the second crop. In the dry West China, such natural water conservation is significant in helping farmers grow their plants throughout the year. Terraced fields also tremendously reduced erosion in the region. Comparing the erosion modulus of regular sloped land and terraced land in the region, the erosion modulus of terraced land is about 1.8% that of the regular sloped land. This means that terraced land preserved and improved the soil in the region for sustainable agriculture. With better and richer soil, agriculture production yield increased dramatically, which generated a lot of revenue. Since each step of terraced fields are shallower than dams, they could also become the habitat of many birds. According to the definition of wetlands from RAMSAR, any body of water, static or flowing, with water depth of less than six meters could be considered as wetlands. If we follow this definition, then technically terraced fields could be considered as a collection of wetlands. • 36. Babylon Short Story Summary Babylon Short Story Tyree Turner, David Gebhart, Raul Garcia In the year 1792 B.C. Babylon introduced their sixth king of Babylon Empire, King Hammurabi who assumed the throne from his father Sin Muballit. The rule of Hammurabi and his strict, often extreme no tolerance policy had begun. Though his punishments of the accused and guilty occasionally seemed appropriate, many felt Hammurabi s methods were inhumane although his intentions give the impression that it was in good spirit. As the sun began to set behind the temple to Marduk the induction ceremony of the new King of Babylon presented his power to rule by introducing the list of laws that were set to be effective immediately. Here, Hammurabi proclaims that he wants to make justice visible in the land, to destroy the wicked person and the evil doer, that the strong might not injure the weak. He goes on to say that the laws themselves uphold compassion, and protect widows, orphans and others from being harmed or exploited by those seeking to take advantage of those who may not be able to defend themselves. Hammurabi clearly understood that to accomplish his goal, he needed one universal set of laws for all of the diverse peoples he conquered. Therefore, he made aware to his subjects that prior to his ascension to king that he sent legal experts throughout his kingdom to gather existing laws. These laws were revised and some were changed or disregarded before compiling his final list of 282 laws. Hammurabi made known ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
