Initial Plans
Harry Allinson
Initial Reaction
• Personally, I’m excited to produce a magazine product because it allows me to develop my skills as
a creative media student hence I will learn new skills and techniques along my production like how
to professionally edit for covers of magazines in Photoshop and how to write in a magazine to fit
the subjects within the genres that I will be going for. Also since this won’t be the first time I have
used Photoshop I will have a good idea of how to use the tools within the software to create an
aesthetically pleasing cover to add to my magazine as a whole alongside my double page spread.
• For my magazine I will probably make the subject of my magazine football because I’m interested
in football, I’m quite knowledgeable and I’ve also played football in a team for years previously so
I’ve also had experience with the sport so I will be more then able to amuse myself into the depths
of football and apply what I have into my magazine via my research and general knowledge of
football.
• Because double page spreads can take time to formulate, this will be good for my development
because I will develop my writing skills to fit a magazine and understand how to create a magazine
layout that could help me in other areas of other media which will be good because the skills I
learn and enhance from this project are important and sometimes essential in many areas of
media.

Age: 10-21 Year Old’s (Although
football is almost universally liked by all
ages, for football magazines it will be a
younger demographic because young
people are the main people who read
magazine products so that is why I have
chosen this specific age range)

Mood Board
Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated colours/images
styles/fonts/tone/mood
• There is a lot of red in the images that I have collected because those colours represent and are symbolic of a certain team
(Liverpool & Manchester city) via the logos and kits of the team so that when people look at a logo and/or kit they can correlate
and understand what team the colour along with the logo link to, which is why all pro clubs have a certain colour and logo so
that people can recognise what team it is. This is helpful for selling products because you can use images relating to a club and
people will instantly recognise what club it is because when you show a person text saying on its own "Liverpool FC", people
won't flock to it as much as if you had text of "Liverpool FC", and an image of a Liverpool player with his kit on because most
people would find that more visually interesting and would want to see more of what the product has to entail because for a lot
of people images hit people more emotionally and insightfully so having images people can learn from and understand is a
great thing to feature inside of a product because then there is a greater possibility that there could potentially be more people
pursuing the buy of said product which would intern be great for sales of the product.
• There is defiantly a great pattern when it comes to text because almost all of the texts on the products and logos have a formal
to semi-formal font and probably at least one of the reasons why this is, is because football is such a diverse and global sport so
narrowing down a text to a wacky font on a logo for example won't be appealing to all aspects of football so it is probably useful
for other producers of football products to use such fonts to have the appeal of different areas of football as a vast international
sport. Unless there is a specified topic and/or title or other text relating to something specific within football, like in the title of
the magazine in my mood board where it has somewhat of a jagged and rough font which is symbolic & relevant of
the title's literal meaning of late tackles, then it shouldn't preferably be a random and unrelated font because it wouldn't suit
the text since there wouldn't be a logical link and correlation between the text's meaning and the font itself thus formulating
that wouldn't be exquisite for implementation on a product.
• For the most part the tone of the images that are found within my mood board are quite neutral on average because in some
images there isn't anything pointing towards any specific tone like the image of the stadium for example. However as you can
see from the image of the referee holding the red card, this isn't always the case because where there is rivalry and competition
between people in sports there is always going to various tones projected via criticism and communication which is sold via
products such as newspapers and magazine products because many different audience demographic love to take the time to
read and listen to different tone's because they have the potential in different medias to be entertaining and inspiring in many
cases.
• Within the bunch of images that I have compiled for my mood board they usually involve vivid colours so that in and around the
sport of football, the visual aspect of football can be more eye catching so that people (the audiences of the sport) will be more
locked into what is going on thus making people more interested in football products and football as a whole because the
colours aren’t dull and depressing to look at, which will as a result make products more successful on the market especially for
young people because they are more attracted to vibrant colours then that of the older demographics.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
My mood board will influence my final product because not only will it give me an understaning of
what different products and elements of football entail and have within them but it will also allow me
to reflect, develop and understand why they use certain colours and aspects within these mediums,
which is important because it will allow me to put my own origional twist onto alread existing ideas and
trends within my final product (magazine) which will enhance my ability to create a magzine but not
just a magaizne about football but a magazine about football that has meaning and conpassion behind
it because from learning for research and analysis I will develop an understaning of the structure of a
magazine that I can build off of to create and formulate my own so that I can create an aethetically
pleasing magazine that will be appealing to my primary audience because that is my goal and I wish to
aim for it so that I can create the product that I can reflect upon and be proud of.
The mood board has also influence my product because it has given me an understanding of why they
use certain colours like when they use the colour red to express that they will be talking about liverpool
or another club with red as their primary colour, which is helpful because now I can think about appling
certain colours to reflect symbolisms of various teams and also moods like anger (red, black) and
happiness (yellow, orange, white) in my products to make my products more professional as they share
charatoristics of a certain emotion on a product with textual information which will, in return
potentially make my product more interesting.
Mood Board Analysis
Schedule
WEEK OVERALL PLAN SPECIFIC TASKS
1 Research, Initial Response,
Audience Research
 Research audience and understand the specifics of them (psychographics,
social status, gender, age ect.) so that I can create a magazine product that
get be as appealing as possible for my primary audience.
 Get all of my research up to date and completed to the best of my ability so
that I can go swiftly on to the production side of the project with more time to
create my product.
2 Production Experiments,
Proposal, Planning
 The tasks my 2nd week would include production experiments (spread & cover),
proposal where I would think about certain ideas to potentially use for my magazine
product and planning I would undergo a plan for what my final products look like
and what/why certain element will be used for my final product. I will need to
complete this task to a high degree so that it will get me more ready for producing
final magazine product.
3 Production  Start magazine cover at the start of week 3 and finish at the end. This would include
taking my own raw photos to implament into the cover and other various editing
processes like colour alterations, cutting elements of images out and such to
formulate the first part of my overall magazine product.
4 Production  The following week forward from creating the cover I will create my double page
spread for my magazine print product. The spread, oppose to the cover may
potentially take more time to be produce hence for a cover there will ideally need to
be a lot of information via text and also visual elements that will in return make up
the spread as well, which will take time to do so keeping to these scheduals would
be a great help for me so that I do not mess-up my time management.
5 Evaluation  After all the production tasks are complete, I will continue on to the evaluation
tasks where I will complete numerous amouts of evaluation overviews of the
beginning and the end of my magazine production going over my cover and spread
and how I made them and how what my thought were about them. Also, and not to
mention, I will also go over time management and other things of that nature and
explain how I could have improved and give my opinion what I think I did right.

  • 2. Initial Reaction • Personally, I’m excited to produce a magazine product because it allows me to develop my skills as a creative media student hence I will learn new skills and techniques along my production like how to professionally edit for covers of magazines in Photoshop and how to write in a magazine to fit the subjects within the genres that I will be going for. Also since this won’t be the first time I have used Photoshop I will have a good idea of how to use the tools within the software to create an aesthetically pleasing cover to add to my magazine as a whole alongside my double page spread. • For my magazine I will probably make the subject of my magazine football because I’m interested in football, I’m quite knowledgeable and I’ve also played football in a team for years previously so I’ve also had experience with the sport so I will be more then able to amuse myself into the depths of football and apply what I have into my magazine via my research and general knowledge of football. • Because double page spreads can take time to formulate, this will be good for my development because I will develop my writing skills to fit a magazine and understand how to create a magazine layout that could help me in other areas of other media which will be good because the skills I learn and enhance from this project are important and sometimes essential in many areas of media.

  • 4. • 6. Mood Board Analysis Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood • There is a lot of red in the images that I have collected because those colours represent and are symbolic of a certain team (Liverpool & Manchester city) via the logos and kits of the team so that when people look at a logo and/or kit they can correlate and understand what team the colour along with the logo link to, which is why all pro clubs have a certain colour and logo so that people can recognise what team it is. This is helpful for selling products because you can use images relating to a club and people will instantly recognise what club it is because when you show a person text saying on its own "Liverpool FC", people won't flock to it as much as if you had text of "Liverpool FC", and an image of a Liverpool player with his kit on because most people would find that more visually interesting and would want to see more of what the product has to entail because for a lot of people images hit people more emotionally and insightfully so having images people can learn from and understand is a great thing to feature inside of a product because then there is a greater possibility that there could potentially be more people pursuing the buy of said product which would intern be great for sales of the product. • There is defiantly a great pattern when it comes to text because almost all of the texts on the products and logos have a formal to semi-formal font and probably at least one of the reasons why this is, is because football is such a diverse and global sport so narrowing down a text to a wacky font on a logo for example won't be appealing to all aspects of football so it is probably useful for other producers of football products to use such fonts to have the appeal of different areas of football as a vast international sport. Unless there is a specified topic and/or title or other text relating to something specific within football, like in the title of the magazine in my mood board where it has somewhat of a jagged and rough font which is symbolic & relevant of the title's literal meaning of late tackles, then it shouldn't preferably be a random and unrelated font because it wouldn't suit the text since there wouldn't be a logical link and correlation between the text's meaning and the font itself thus formulating that wouldn't be exquisite for implementation on a product. • For the most part the tone of the images that are found within my mood board are quite neutral on average because in some images there isn't anything pointing towards any specific tone like the image of the stadium for example. However as you can see from the image of the referee holding the red card, this isn't always the case because where there is rivalry and competition between people in sports there is always going to various tones projected via criticism and communication which is sold via products such as newspapers and magazine products because many different audience demographic love to take the time to read and listen to different tone's because they have the potential in different medias to be entertaining and inspiring in many cases. • Within the bunch of images that I have compiled for my mood board they usually involve vivid colours so that in and around the sport of football, the visual aspect of football can be more eye catching so that people (the audiences of the sport) will be more locked into what is going on thus making people more interested in football products and football as a whole because the colours aren’t dull and depressing to look at, which will as a result make products more successful on the market especially for young people because they are more attracted to vibrant colours then that of the older demographics.
  • 7. How will your mood board influence your final product? My mood board will influence my final product because not only will it give me an understaning of what different products and elements of football entail and have within them but it will also allow me to reflect, develop and understand why they use certain colours and aspects within these mediums, which is important because it will allow me to put my own origional twist onto alread existing ideas and trends within my final product (magazine) which will enhance my ability to create a magzine but not just a magaizne about football but a magazine about football that has meaning and conpassion behind it because from learning for research and analysis I will develop an understaning of the structure of a magazine that I can build off of to create and formulate my own so that I can create an aethetically pleasing magazine that will be appealing to my primary audience because that is my goal and I wish to aim for it so that I can create the product that I can reflect upon and be proud of. The mood board has also influence my product because it has given me an understanding of why they use certain colours like when they use the colour red to express that they will be talking about liverpool or another club with red as their primary colour, which is helpful because now I can think about appling certain colours to reflect symbolisms of various teams and also moods like anger (red, black) and happiness (yellow, orange, white) in my products to make my products more professional as they share charatoristics of a certain emotion on a product with textual information which will, in return potentially make my product more interesting. • 8. Schedule WEEK OVERALL PLAN SPECIFIC TASKS 1 Research, Initial Response, Audience Research  Research audience and understand the specifics of them (psychographics, social status, gender, age ect.) so that I can create a magazine product that get be as appealing as possible for my primary audience.  Get all of my research up to date and completed to the best of my ability so that I can go swiftly on to the production side of the project with more time to create my product. 2 Production Experiments, Proposal, Planning  The tasks my 2nd week would include production experiments (spread & cover), proposal where I would think about certain ideas to potentially use for my magazine product and planning I would undergo a plan for what my final products look like and what/why certain element will be used for my final product. I will need to complete this task to a high degree so that it will get me more ready for producing final magazine product. 3 Production  Start magazine cover at the start of week 3 and finish at the end. This would include taking my own raw photos to implament into the cover and other various editing processes like colour alterations, cutting elements of images out and such to formulate the first part of my overall magazine product. 4 Production  The following week forward from creating the cover I will create my double page spread for my magazine print product. The spread, oppose to the cover may potentially take more time to be produce hence for a cover there will ideally need to be a lot of information via text and also visual elements that will in return make up the spread as well, which will take time to do so keeping to these scheduals would be a great help for me so that I do not mess-up my time management. 5 Evaluation  After all the production tasks are complete, I will continue on to the evaluation tasks where I will complete numerous amouts of evaluation overviews of the beginning and the end of my magazine production going over my cover and spread and how I made them and how what my thought were about them. Also, and not to mention, I will also go over time management and other things of that nature and explain how I could have improved and give my opinion what I think I did right.
